Analysis Of Barbara Bush s Speech
In May of 1990, Barbara Bush gave a speech that made waves throughout the United States. The First
Lady was asked to give a commencement address to the graduating class of Wellesley College in
Wellesley, Massachusetts. Her audience was filled with soon to be graduates and their families. As a
public figure, her speech was also reproduced to be read and listened to by thousands of people. Being
a commencement address, the speech was about life, the future, and the graduates time at Wellesley.
She explicitly stated, Today you meet on Severance Green to say goodbye to all of that, to begin a new
and a very personal journey, to search for your own true colors. Her purpose was to impart wisdom
onto her audience. Barbara Bush s speech was an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reality was quite the contrary, that the Angry 150 had valid opinions, as did their opposition. As
previously said, Barbara Bush was invited to be the 1990 commencement speaker because she placed
second in a classwide vote. Her popularity indicates that a sizable amount of Wellesley students
thought her visit would be beneficial. The class president, Julie Porter, said, I support Mrs. Bush
coming here. She s a very interesting and successful lady who lived in a different time. She didn t
have the options we have. I think women should be evaluated not on how much money they make, but
whether they re happy. Porter s remark brings to mind a very important concept, one that Tyrell felt
the petitioners were overlooking: that the progress in women s rights did not mean the same thing for
every woman. Too many of the soon to be graduates, Barbara Bush was an icon, someone to be
admired. They believed she had the right to be their commencement speaker, just as much as Maya
Angelou (1982) and Gloria Steinem (1986) had. In the study of American history, the 1980s and 1990s
are considered a time of turbulence. Bush touches on this when she says, These These are exciting
times. They re exciting in Washington, and I have really looked forward to coming to Wellesley. She
was living in the White House, placing her at the center of everything, and she knew better than
anyone what the future may hold. When Bush gave this speech, America had already survived the fall

Mel Gibson s Soliloquy Comparison
To be, or not to be is one of the greatest soliloquy William Shakespeare has ever wrote; and there s
many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version, Ethan
Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and unique
in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most
effective and I will explain why.
Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s
version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and
Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid
back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight
Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is
alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music
needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that
can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple
camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly
close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a
sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the
tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there
was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also
at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because
Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his
lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to
film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s
worth living or

Essay about Why Athletes are Good Role Models
Why Athletes are Good Role Models
Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the hard work that they do to achieve their
goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like them. What happens though when the
realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of
athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to, but there are also some bad apples in the
bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young people to work hard so that their efforts can
pay off, but no one is pure and flawless. Greed does take a hold of some players, but they shouldn t be
the ones we devote all of our attention to. We should look at the

Shaquille O Neal bought over 1,000 turkeys and gave to needy families all across the nation on
Thanksgiving. I did not hear one mention of that in the news. They are making us believe that all
athletes are bad people with their propaganda. If they spent half the time covering the good hearted
stories that they do the bad ones, we would have a different opinion on the hard working athlete.
Michael Jordan has started a foundation that donates money for research to help physically challenged
children. He has been running up the tabs at
Atlantic City casinos, but who hasn t gambled? We are not perfect. Michael may gamble, but he does
his share of helping and works hard for what he has acquired.
Gambling is no crime, so then he is not showing us a negative thing. If parents disapprove of him
gambling, then they should outlaw it because he is not doing anything wrong. Michael, and other
athletes as well, is aware that he is constantly being watched by millions and tries to act accordingly.
There has been a major controversy in the NBA lately thanks to Charles
Barkley and his claim in an interview that he is not a role model, but that is the job of the parent. He
says that parents shouldn t be blaming the athletes if they can t control their own children. Another
person that agrees with this notion is football and basketball star Deion Sanders. Barkley has paid over
$80,000 in fines over a period of two years. He

Lithotripsy Lab Report
1. a) In tube emission, when we run a current through elements, in atomic level, the electrons of
elements get excited. They start to leave the ground level and jump to a higher energy level. When
they are falling down to a lower energy level they release energy as a photon. We observe this process
as a light emission.
b) In part A, the electrons were excited by passing a current through elements, however; the cause that

INTRODUCTION
Google Inc. is one of the most successful and popular internet startups. Until now, it is the favorite
search engine all the time due to its accuracy and speed in finding results. Besides its technological
advances over its competitors, Google s success also stems from its ability to attract and retain the best
talented employees. During the internet boom in the late 90s, Google was the only company that did
not experience any employee turnover, while all other major competitors experienced a turnover rates

CLEAR MISSION STATEMENT AND VALUES
Having a clearly articulated mission that is prominently communicated to all employees cultivates an
intentional culture an environment where people know why they do what they do, and love their work
all the more for it. Mission statements, however, are much easier to write than to make into reality.
You need to realize that a company s culture will hinge on its ability to make the words on paper
meaningful, translating the intangible into something that has real worth and impact. * EMPLOYEE
RECOGNITION FOR SMALL AND BIG CONTRIBUTIONS
Recognition provides incentives for employees to do the best work they can do. But as much as
Google likes to seize opportunities to acknowledge strong performances, the company is equally
willing to celebrate failure as well. Google products are known to always be in Beta mistakes are

whose response sums up the company s attitude on failure: I m so glad you made this mistake, he said.

There are typical representations for both males and females. Usually the well known representation
of a male is to be strong, manly and brave. The typical representation of a female is to be loving,
innocent and a mother. This is what each gender s representation usually was back then. Nowadays,
the representation of each males and females has changed. More and more males are taking on the
jobs of women as in being the one to take care of and spend the most time with the kids. This happens
because more and more women are becoming very independent and making careers for themselves.

women are strong and are independent just like men are. They keep fighting to earn the same amount
of money for the same job that a man works. Some states have their male employees earn just a little
bit more money than the female employee of the state. a majority of women do not like the idea and
are wanting to fight back so they can get all the money that they earned just like any man of the state

Girls are told to be loving for their children and to be depended of a man. This was the norm until
recently feminism has taken over for girls to grow up and be what they want to be. The gender
representation of women has changed to, if they wanted, strong and independent for themselves so
they do not have to depend on a man for a good living. In one of Mr. Clean s advertisements, they

Analysis Of The Film The Wild County
The Wild County is a modern Spaghetti Western film set to be released on March 2018. I will be the
director of the film, and will mainly take care of the visual aspect of the film. The film s visual
element takes inspiration from one of Sergio Leone s prominent film Once Upon a Time in the West
(1968). The first scene I will direct in the film is Scene IV. The spotting for the film will occur on
November 24th, 2016. The first spotting session will mainly focus on arranging the music with the
footage taken for Scene IV. The meeting will be attended by the film composer Richard Marley along
with our three music editors Cindy Nicholson, Brandon Howard, and Susan Baxter.
The plot of the film is about Bruce West, a young cowboy who travels to Cape Town, Lousiana in
order to seek redemption for the death of his family back in Mississippi. Bruce West s family are
murdered by the evil Samuel Johnson and his crew called the Red Bandits. The Red Bandits plan to
infiltrate Cape Town by robbing the town of it s fortune and kidnapping mayor Smith as hostage. In
order to stop the Red Bandits, Bruce West creates a group called The Rebellion to fight against the
Red Bandits and save Cape Town from chaos.
Scene IV will have no source music, meaning no music will be heard by both the audience and the
characters. Moreover, there will be no dialogue between characters as this is a silent film. The only
sound in the scene will be the non diegetic music created by the film composer Richard

Raising The Minimum Wage Is A Bad Idea
In announcing his wrongheaded proposal to increase the minimum wage to $9 an hour, President
Obama spoke in lofty terms: In the wealthiest nation on Earth, he said in his State of the Union
address last month, no one who works full time should have to live in poverty.
If the debate proceeds as it has many times in the past, then most Democrats will embrace the
president s message and back the proposal, while most Republicans will oppose it, on the grounds that
higher labor costs will lead to higher unemployment.
But we shouldn t rely on political opinions in this debate. Facts clearly demonstrate that raising the
minimum wage is a bad idea.
The case against raising the minimum wage is straightforward: A higher wage makes it more
expensive for firms to hire workers. How big an effect does this have on the job market? Economists
debate this. But no one argues that increasing the minimum wage increases the number of unemployed
workers who find jobs. In the end, the trade off is clear. People who keep their jobs get more money;
those who lose their jobs, or fail to get new ones, suffer.
In announcing his proposal to increase the minimum wage, the president argued that doing so would
alleviate poverty. The president is certainly correct to turn his attention to the poor, many of whom
have been suffering for years in a tough economy. And it is clearly desirable for households that
engage in full time work not to live in poverty. But increasing the minimum wage would

Why I Want To Be A Drummer
Drummers are perennially underrated. Some writers make rock critic jokes, even other musicians
make drummer jokes. But where would the Beatles be without their drummer Ringo Star. The real
human drummer was replaced with electronic computer machines during the eighties and nineties for
a while, but music fans realized that this was not as good as the sound of a real talented drummer. The
drummer does not just support the band they hold it up and push the forward. Robert Plant, the lead
singer of Led Zeppelin was very fond of his drummer, John Bonham, who was one of the best
drummers out there during his time and even today. When he passed away the lead singer could not go
on anymore in the band Led Zeppelin, because he knew it would not be the same without his original
and super talented drummer. The loss of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The argument on how much practice it takes to be a drummer is essential for new musicians to learn
about because if they truly want to be a drummer they must know that it is not the usual go to
instrument in a band. It takes so much patience and practice to become a good enough drummer to
even be in a band. It is also imperative to know how much work goes into becoming the drummer
because some fans may view the drummer as just the guy or girl in the background where they need to
realize how a band cannot be a band without the drummer. This argument is also for the drummers out
there who need to receive more recognition from their fans. Drumming has been around forever, and it
is such remarkable instrument to learn. Drummers may also

Harrison Bergeron is a young adult short story by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr whose theme is a dystopian story.
It is told that in 2081, people are equal, to be précised must equal. People who are beyond normal are
forced to hide their ability in order to become equal. People who go against the rules will be punished
or even killed just like Harrison who declared himself as the Emperor as he rebelled to the
Handicapper General. In the story, it can be found that the General takes the control of the society in
order to make everything balance. Everything should be the same, no less, no more and everyone
should agree with that. The mainstream holds the voice. They are the one who decide what is right and

The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues Essay
The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues
In the United States today more than one half of all marriages end in divorce. The purpose of this
paper is to examine the reason why women have typically received custody of the children far more
often than the fathers. In order to better understand child custody one must first examine how fathers
have often times been left out of the picture, and conversely why mothers have had such hard times
raising children on their own. This paper will first examine the perspective of a father who has lost
custody of his children.
A Fathers Perspective According to many the custody of a child should be determined with the best
interest of the child in mind. However, it is not easy for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Mothers Perspective
Reynolds (2004) stated that five out of every six custodial parents are mothers, and he goes on to say
that one out of three of those custodial parents receives a full payment averaging about five thousand
dollars. Often times a judge makes the decision to grant custody to the mother based on the idea that a
mother has a closer relationship with the child because of giving birth. However, it is important to
remember as Smith (2003) reminds us that fathers love their children just as much as mothers, and to
call them non custodial parents is offensive. Often times when parents get divorced the mother has
been a stay at home mom and the father has been the primary bread winner so, when a mom is
awarded custody as you can imagine it becomes very difficult for her to balance the children and the
one (or more) jobs that she has to work in order to support the family.
Conclusion The purpose of this paper was to give some insight into the vicious battles that take place
over child custody. It is important to mention that raising children is difficult even with two parents,
now when there is only one parent the difficultly increases by leaps and bounds. The idea of joint
custody seems to sound like a good solution however, Smith (2003) stated

Flexible Spending Account Analysis
The deductible is the amount the member pays for services after claim have been processed by the
insurance company. The insurance determines the amount that s applied towards the members
deductible. The amount owed depends on facts of the claim such as the type of service(s) the quantity
of the service(s), and where the service took place. It could take many services like doctor s visits,
test, prescriptions refills, to meet the full deductible. The patient will receive a statement (bill) from
the service provider for the amount determined by the insurance company.

Flexible spending account FSA and health savings accounts HSA have some similarities, but they are

The Negative Impact Of Technology
Technology is the all encompassing applications used to advance society throughout history.
Technology has been largely expanded upon in the past few generations of society. From smart phones
to artificial intelligence, technology has infiltrated daily life and taken on various forms, which is
commonly believed to benefit American society. However, these innovations have come at a cost,
negatively affecting struggling and vulnerable populations. Technology has negatively affected society

The technology that is readily available to Americans has increased the dominant, influential role it
plays in society. More and more advertisers are marketing to audiences that can be easily targeted and
influenced. This increase in aggressive advertising has created a society dependent on technology,
whether it s social media or household appliances. Brand manager John Hadl described the situation
perfectly, explaining how strategic marketing has evolved to shift consumer s perceptions towards a
need for technology, rather than just a want ( It s Not the Phone ). This shift in behavior, from wanting
technology to needing it, has negatively affected the interactions occurring in American society. This
position is shared across the United States, as observed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Professor Sherry Turkle. In her 2012 TED talk, titled Connected, but Alone?, Turkle discussed the
negative effects of the growing dependence of everyday technology on society. This reliance has
dismantled the supposedly basic characteristics shared amongst society members, such as the
maintenance of conversation, interaction, and attention ( TEDTalks ). Technological advancements,
such as mobile phones, texting, and online education, have eliminated society s want or need for in

Historical Context And Significance Of The Sale And...
The tremendous context and significance of the sale and ownership of human beings far exceeds what
the majority of Americans hold to be true. Consequently, the rightful historical context differs greatly
from modern portrayals. When slavery is brought up, an individual may likely conjure up images of
enslaved Africans by white Americans, enslaved Africans by Southern white Americans, enslaved
Africans by Europeans, or at best, Africans enslavement in the Western hemisphere. Problematic to
this selectively narrow understanding of history is what is removed. An individual or group who
proposes war is unique to a certain nationality would be either ignorant or hold malicious intent.
Similarly, natural disasters do not discriminate on gender, famine does not only apply to a single skin

existed across all of humanity, on all lands, for all of time. Slavery included. Ignoring this indisputable
truth is not only dangerous, it is evil. To wilfully ignore history and assign slavery to a single race over
a few centuries disregards the larger, even greater suffering of slavery s victims over thousands of
years.
How could such gross distortions be allowed and universally accepted? Of note, the same group who
see America s responsibility in the world as overly exaggerated are the first to assign responsibility to
that same America for all the evils in the world. Equally confusing

Óscar Romero was a Roman Catholic priest that stood up for the poor and injustice in the troubled
nation of El Salvador. In the early stages of his life, Romero had entered a boarding school for priests
at the age of thirteen. Then he went to the national boarding school in San Salvador. He finished his
studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, and was appointed a priest in Rome in 1942. Although
Romero wanted to acquire a doctorate in theology, he had to go home to El Salvador in 1944 due to a
lack of priests. He initially served as pastor, but because of his outstanding talent, he was marked for
greater responsibilities. In 1970, he became the auxiliary bishop for San Salvador. As Romero began

In 1989, director John Duigan created a spectacular film, which was called Romero. This film was
created to depict Óscar Romero s organizing peaceful protests against a violent military regime, as
well as his death. Óscar Romero used his voice of power in the Church and in the country to speak up
for the poor. When important political figures in the country told him to be quiet and to stop speaking
out against these injustices, he refused, often putting his own body in between his people and their
perpetrators. His defense of the Salvadoran people was very effective in protecting them from the
senseless violence and oppression by the Salvadoran government. He was truly a hero. He advocated
human rights without the use of violence or harm to others, he used his voice to bring justice to the
citizens of El Salvador. He should be remembered as a strong willed advocate. Óscar Romero did not
give up, As a Christian, he remarked on one such occasion, I do not believe in death without
resurrection. If they kill me, I shall rise again in the Salvadoran people (UN). Oscar Romero had a
tremendous impact in El Salvador, in the rest of Latin America, and in the rest of the world. His

The Philosophy Of Working Partnership
The philosophy of Working in partnership is vital in health and social care as it embraces strategy for
successful care delivery service for service users and care providers. Local authorities and health care
professionals have the responsibility to provide these services that are able to meet the social and
health care needs of the local population. Their duty can only be carried in partnership between
themselves or with other agencies
According to Glendinning et al. (2002, p. 3) partnership working consist of two or more agencies
working together with the intention to deliver benefits or added values whilst sharing trust ,equality
and responsibilities which cannot be achieved by an individual alone
There are six different philosophies generally acknowledged and aspired to be fulfilled in health and
social care partnership working which are as explained below.
Firstly, Autonomy is conceptualised as self determination in health care ethics, which means if a
person is autonomous, he or she can make own decisions regarding treatment and care (Widdershoven
and Abma, 2012, p. 217). Independence indicates playing self governing roles around everything to do
with oneself (Beales and Platz, 2008). For instance, allowing an elderly client to perform easy daily
tasks on her own and waiting till the completion of task can promote an independent achievement of
the service user.
Secondly , making informed choices implies to making aware of available

The reason why we got these results can be explained, when alcohol interacts with the cell membrane
is affects the normal formation of the lipid chains that form in a bilayer, it is believed that alcohol
binds underneath the charged head of the lipid and displaces water that is originally there [1] this
breaks up the membrane allowing more of the red pigment to diffuse out of the beetroot. [2] The
ethanol forms temporary bonds with the phospholipid heads in the bilayer as they are opposite dipoles
causing the phospholipids to move out of place causing gaps to form which allows large molecules
such as betalain to diffuse out of the cell. As well proteins, like enzymes, can become denatured by the
ethanol due to the same affect as with the phospholipids this can disrupt the hydrogen bonds, which
maintain secondary structure. The negative ethanol molecules cause the bonds between the amino acid

Cholesterol in the membrane is not soluble in water but in ethanol it is soluble, at high concentrations
it actually begins to dissolve, as the cholesterol is no longer present and is used to hold the
phospholipids together, the bilayer comes more fluid, cholesterol helps provide stability so once
removed there becomes larger gaps in between the phospholipids causing larger molecules to be able
to diffuse out, such as betalain, therefore the cell membrane is increasingly more permeable [3]. This
is what caused the results that we got, as the concentration increased so did the gaps in the membrane
in size increase, allowing more pigment to diffuse out, especially at higher concentrations when
cholesterol too dissolved, then as the concentration got higher at 60% the results leveled off as the

accounting is rooted in the organization of monetary claims throughout the history of the Western

Often, for precaution, the trade was again written in the outercrust of the tablet so that no other
alterations could be made. Ancient Europe held an accounting system similar to that of the
Mesopotamian community. Here they used a form of papyrus, a paper material made from the stem of
a water plant, instead of the clay tablets that were much less plentiful in this area. Accountants in this
part of the western world were typically associated with a specific store or trade business, and were
evaluated extensively by an internal verification system within the corporation for which they were
accredited in order to implement a more detailed accounting transaction built upon honesty and
credibility of those calculating. While Egyptians made thousands of trades regarding gold and silver,
they referred to each as an exchange of goods rather than ascribing value to the item. This made the
calculating and recording different commodities in different credit terms very difficult. According to
public records, ancient Greece used accountants for personal monetary organization and to maintain

Analysis Of The Book The R. Tolkien
J.R.R. Tolkien was an amazing author who had the ability to forge stories that have captivated
audiences worldwide since the publishing of his first ever book. Part of this literary success comes
from his astounding character development; his way of writing causes the reader to truly feel what his
characters are experiencing and many a reader has cried at the death of a Tolkien character. However,
if most people attempt to think of one of his characters the first ones that come to mind are males such
as Aragorn and Frodo, when in all reality some of his most intriguing and subtly pivotal characters are
females. Galadriel, Lúthien, Arwen, and Éowyn are four of those such women who are all individually

behold! It was brought within my grasp . . . She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore
there issued a great light that illuminated her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo
seeming now tall beyond measure, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she
let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! She was shrunken: a
slender elf woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad. I have passed the test

she turns down this immense power due to the evil she knows accompanies it. The Lady Galadriel is

Sigmund Freud s Theories about Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious Mind
Sigmund Freud was well known for his theories on psychoanalysis, and it was used to help understand
the unconscious mind better. In Freud s lifetime, he grew to be a very influential person of the
twentieth century. The western society still uses words that he introduced in his time, some are libido,
repression, denial, and neurotic. He was the founding father of the theory of psychoanalysis, which
explains human behavior. He also believed that if we clarify our demeanor to ourselves or others, we
do not give an honest version of our motivation (www.simplypsychology.org, 2015).
On May 6th, 1856, Freud was born and soon came to be an Austrian neurologist. Freud was popular
for his different view of the human mind and his practices are well known to this day. When he was
just a child of 4, his family moved to Vienna, Austria and he practiced there for most of his life. In,
1881 Freud got his medical degree then soon started his own private practice. Josef Breuer was a
colleague of Freud at the beginning of his career. Breuer inspired Freud, which lead him to believe
that when a patient has had a traumatic experience in their past, it was latent within their conscious. To
help with the traumatic experience, Freud advised them to remember those experiences and accept
them (www.biography.com, 2015). Freud showed some of these examples in his

The Issue At Stake Is Not Population Numbers Depiction
The issue at stake is not population numbers depiction, but concerns for the quality of education for
Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is
a clarion call for excessive investment in education, and in other public services. Comparable to other
poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) argued, the poor people live entwined in
inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and
poor arrangement reinforces one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the treasured
resources of any future nation, and therefore, financing beyond their education quality would be the
ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to
ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive
attention to the marginalized children the most likely to be victims of quality education access
limitation.

AAnalysis On Wound Management
Wound management is one of the cornerstones for nursing care however, effective wound care extends
far beyond the application of the wound itself. Nurses may be required to assess, plan, implement, and
evaluate wound care; therefore, order to fill these roles it s critical to have an understanding of the
several different areas of wound care such as, integumentary system, classification of wounds, wound
procedures, and documentation. Knowledge in each of these areas will allow nurses to make well
informed decisions about wound care, and as a result play an active part in wound healing.
Integumentary System
The integumentary system or skin is our body s largest organ, which weighs 20 pounds or more,
accounting for about 16% of total body weight (Thibodeau, 2014, p.93). According to Thibodeau
(2014 p. 145) the: number of structures fitting into 1 square inch of skin: 500 sweat glands; more than
1000 nerve endings; yards of tiny blood vessels; nearly 100 sebaceous glands; 150 sensors for
pressure, 75 for hot, 10 for cold; and millions of cells.
The integumentary system can be broken down into three main categories the Epidermis, Dermis, and
Subcutaneous layer each of which contain certain specialized skin derivatives including hair, nails,
and several kinds of glands.
The outer most layer of the skin or Epidermis contains stratified squamous, keratinized, epithelial
tissue; which lacks blood vessels, and the cells are packed closely together (Sloane, 1994, p.85)

Happiness Hypothesis
In the book, Happiness Hypothesis, Jonathan Hadit, professor of psychology at the University of
Virginia, claims that the mind has two parts, the limbic system and neocortex. He explains the
neocortex to be the rational part of the brain (Hadit 4) while the limbic system is the need for basic
instincts such as food, sleep, and sex (Hadit 4). He develops this claim by first comparing these two
aspect to an elephant and its rider (Hadit 5), the elephant is the limbic system which is uncontrollable
and driven by instinct and the rider is the neocortex driven by rational behavior. He then explains how

Thus we sought to determine whether those bacteria that produced coaggregation were associated with
cohesion in contact lens case biofilm formation. Cohesion can also occur when a pioneer species
modifies the substratum to encourage adhesion of successor species. As, Staphylococcus spp are the
most commonly isolated from the lens cases, could be considered as pioneer species, but 10% of the
lens cases also showed the contamination of Gram negative bacteria. Based on recent in vivo data we
found Staphylococcus spp often isolated with Acinetobacter spp. There is other literature which also
showed the isolation of P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens from lens cases. The present study showed
cohesion between Staphylococcus spp and Acinetobacter spp/ Micrococcus spp, where
Staphylococcus spp can be considered as pioneer species and Acinetobacter and Micrococcus as
successor. Whist this study did not investigate the facilitating factor for the cohesion, will be worth to
consider in future study. The next step will be to see whether the elimination of Micrococcus and
Acinetobacter contamination from lens cases will reduce the adhesion of Staphylococcus spp which
may reduce the overall rate of contact lens case

The civil rights era as a result of cultural forces and political awakenings created bold speakers. Many
of these orators were audacious in their speeches, however few came close to Malcolm X. Malcolm X
carried a fearless attitude presenting speeches that have been etched into American History, one the of
the most iconic of these speeches was Ballot or the Bullet . It embodies ideas of self determination
coupled with an intense call to action. The Ballot or the Bullet is a great speech because it skillfully
straddles the line between inciting violence and inspiring change. The Ballot or the Bullet is capable
of leaving a lasting impact due to its inflammatory statements. Malcolm X uses these statements
carefully throughout the speech to grab the audience s attention when he is attempting to convey
important statements. Malcolm X starts the speech with a description of the difficult choice that
African Americans are facing. He states controversially at the top of the speech, The Negro Revolt,
and Where Do We Go From Here ... it points toward either the ballot or the bullet (X) .His description
of the Civil Rights movement as a Negro Revolt was contentious due to violent undertones however, it
manages to hook the reader and steer the argument the way Malcolm X desires. Therefore, through
controversy Malcolm X accomplishes two goals, first shocking than progressing society. By shocking

Improving China s Image Through Advertisement
4.2 Creative advertising to create the image of a strong brand Research Question 2: Can China create
international advertisements that would be conducive to advancing its global image and make use of
soft power? It has been well established by marketers and economists that a successful ad campaign is
able to localize to the target audience and communicate messages in line for the respective society.
Advertisements often sell more of a concept of an ideal goal that concept can vary slightly or

Chinese companies must also find a means to balance marketing capacity and maintaining its unique
identity and simultaneously encoding the message in such a fashion that it should be easily decoded
by target audiences. An example of this would be exercises programs such as Birkam Yoga; a hot yoga
program was created by Bikram Choudhury. Yoga traditionally originates from India, but has managed
to seep its way into the crevasses of societies around the world from the United States to South Korea.
Most Yoga advertisements focus on the increased health benefits of the exercise, which is a matter of
prime importance in many nations regardless of cultural customs, because of clever marketing focused
on a matter of international interest, Yoga programs have managed to sell while keeping a unique
identity. China is a nation with a dynamic and rich history over 5,000 years worth in fact.
This works to both China s advantage and disadvantage. It has been noted that the most profitable
films China related tend to be kung fu films, while such films are not a holistic representation of the
nation from past to present, it does provide precedence for ways to integrate a traditional culture with
international societies. Directors such as Zhang Yimou and kung fu celebrities such as Jackie Chan
and Jet Lee are as much a part of China s cinematographic history as the worlds. Films such as Ang

Vaccines Are A Major Cause Of Autism
Abstract
Ever since a study was posted by Ohio State University in 1998, a belief has existed that vaccines are
a major cause of autism. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove
this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many
science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included
surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that
vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including
information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship
between these two. This is significant because it dispels the aforementioned belief. It also shows that
people have been misinformed for years, something that must be corrected.

Ursuala K. LeGuin s The Left Hand of Darkness was written after J.R.R. Tolkien s The Fellowship of
the Ring and Frank Herbert s Dune. One of the most interesting comparisons between the three novels
is how the authors treat the issue of cross cultural misunderstandings. All three works contain many
incidents where people of one race or planet encounter people of a different race or from a different
planet. Tolkien treats this issue in a specisitc or physiological manner. The cultural misunderstandings
and clashes that arise in The Fellowship of the Ring are due to the differing physiology of the ... Show

They largely dismiss the rest of the goings on of Middle Earth as not hobbit business. This often leads
to misunderstanding and suspicion of others. Sandyman goes on to say He s [Bilbo] often away from
home. And look at the outlandish folk that visit him: dwarves coming at night, and that old wandering
conjour, Gandalf, and all. You can say what you like, Gaffer, but Bag End s a queer place, and its folk
are queerer (Tolkien 24). Later, a hobbit comments If only that dratted wizard would leave young
Frodo alone, perhaps he ll settle down and grow some hobbit sense (Tolkien 40). It is clear that many
of the hobbits distrust Gandalf simply because he is not a hobbit with typical hobbit business. These
same misconceptions and misunderstandings based on physiology are apparent throughout Tolkien s
trilogy. The distrust between dwarves and elves, the tension between elves and men, and the
reluctance of the ents to get involved with non ent business are a few examples. Many of these
misconceptions and misunderstandings are overcome to defeat the forces of evil, however, the
physiological differences among characters are one major roadblock towards the unity of good in the
trilogy.
Herbert takes a different approach to cultural misunderstands in Dune. The cultural misconceptions
and misunderstands in his world are due not to physiology, but environment. The environments of the
different planets imprint different

The Goal Of The Anger Principle
The goal of the Anger Principle is to rationalize why an individual is angry and calculate the extent of
their anger within a situation. When trying to decipher whether someone is angry, I look for a few key
indicators, such as antisocial body language and aggressive verbal language. Antisocial body language
includes pacing, rubbing your head, cupping your fist with your other hand, shaking or trembling,
clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth, and sweating, especially of the palms. Aggressive verbal
language includes getting sarcastic, losing your sense of humor, raising your voice, speaking
abrasively, and beginning to yell, scream, or cry. Many of these signs were present in my various
cases. Incidentally, case one is interesting because feelings of anger weren t associated with this
decision until 3 years later. Now, whenever I am reminded, I begin to clench my jaw and rub my head.
Also, I m not very likely to speak when I am angry, but when I do I am sarcastic and without a sense
of humor, i.e., I ll say I was such a smart kid, of course, skateboards can take you everywhere. If
anyone else attempts to make a joke about my situation, I d blankly stared at them, conveying my
anger by rejecting humor about the situation. As for case five, my friend is a big fan of the former vice
present, Joe Biden. So, when she told me about how she felt after receiving her grade, she reported
that she was sweating, shaking, and cupping her first with her other hand. Even as she

  • 2. Analysis Of Barbara Bush s Speech In May of 1990, Barbara Bush gave a speech that made waves throughout the United States. The First Lady was asked to give a commencement address to the graduating class of Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Her audience was filled with soon to be graduates and their families. As a public figure, her speech was also reproduced to be read and listened to by thousands of people. Being a commencement address, the speech was about life, the future, and the graduates time at Wellesley. She explicitly stated, Today you meet on Severance Green to say goodbye to all of that, to begin a new and a very personal journey, to search for your own true colors. Her purpose was to impart wisdom onto her audience. Barbara Bush s speech was an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality was quite the contrary, that the Angry 150 had valid opinions, as did their opposition. As previously said, Barbara Bush was invited to be the 1990 commencement speaker because she placed second in a classwide vote. Her popularity indicates that a sizable amount of Wellesley students thought her visit would be beneficial. The class president, Julie Porter, said, I support Mrs. Bush coming here. She s a very interesting and successful lady who lived in a different time. She didn t have the options we have. I think women should be evaluated not on how much money they make, but whether they re happy. Porter s remark brings to mind a very important concept, one that Tyrell felt the petitioners were overlooking: that the progress in women s rights did not mean the same thing for every woman. Too many of the soon to be graduates, Barbara Bush was an icon, someone to be admired. They believed she had the right to be their commencement speaker, just as much as Maya Angelou (1982) and Gloria Steinem (1986) had. In the study of American history, the 1980s and 1990s are considered a time of turbulence. Bush touches on this when she says, These These are exciting times. They re exciting in Washington, and I have really looked forward to coming to Wellesley. She was living in the White House, placing her at the center of everything, and she knew better than anyone what the future may hold. When Bush gave this speech, America had already survived the fall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mel Gibson s Soliloquy Comparison To be, or not to be is one of the greatest soliloquy William Shakespeare has ever wrote; and there s many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version, Ethan Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and unique in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most effective and I will explain why. Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or ... • 4. Essay about Why Athletes are Good Role Models Why Athletes are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the hard work that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to, but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Raising The Minimum Wage Is A Bad Idea In announcing his wrongheaded proposal to increase the minimum wage to $9 an hour, President Obama spoke in lofty terms: In the wealthiest nation on Earth, he said in his State of the Union address last month, no one who works full time should have to live in poverty. If the debate proceeds as it has many times in the past, then most Democrats will embrace the president s message and back the proposal, while most Republicans will oppose it, on the grounds that higher labor costs will lead to higher unemployment. But we shouldn t rely on political opinions in this debate. Facts clearly demonstrate that raising the minimum wage is a bad idea. The case against raising the minimum wage is straightforward: A higher wage makes it more expensive for firms to hire workers. How big an effect does this have on the job market? Economists debate this. But no one argues that increasing the minimum wage increases the number of unemployed workers who find jobs. In the end, the trade off is clear. People who keep their jobs get more money; those who lose their jobs, or fail to get new ones, suffer. In announcing his proposal to increase the minimum wage, the president argued that doing so would alleviate poverty. Often times a judge makes the decision to grant custody to the mother based on the idea that a mother has a closer relationship with the child because of giving birth. However, it is important to remember as Smith (2003) reminds us that fathers love their children just as much as mothers, and to call them non custodial parents is offensive. [2] The ethanol forms temporary bonds with the phospholipid heads in the bilayer as they are opposite dipoles causing the phospholipids to move out of place causing gaps to form which allows large molecules such as betalain to diffuse out of the cell. Ancient Europe held an accounting system similar to that of the Mesopotamian community. Here they used a form of papyrus, a paper material made from the stem of a water plant, instead of the clay tablets that were much less plentiful in this area. Accountants in this part of the western world were typically associated with a specific store or trade business, and were evaluated extensively by an internal verification system within the corporation for which they were accredited in order to implement a more detailed accounting transaction built upon honesty and credibility of those calculating. While Egyptians made thousands of trades regarding gold and silver, they referred to each as an exchange of goods rather than ascribing value to the item. • 26. Analysis Of The Book The R. Tolkien J.R.R. Tolkien was an amazing author who had the ability to forge stories that have captivated audiences worldwide since the publishing of his first ever book. Part of this literary success comes from his astounding character development; his way of writing causes the reader to truly feel what his characters are experiencing and many a reader has cried at the death of a Tolkien character. However, if most people attempt to think of one of his characters the first ones that come to mind are males such as Aragorn and Frodo, when in all reality some of his most intriguing and subtly pivotal characters are females. For many long years I had pondered what I might do, should the Great Ring come into my hands, and behold! It was brought within my grasp . . . She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illuminated her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measure, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! She was shrunken: a slender elf woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad. I have passed the test (The Fellowship 380 381). Galadriel is able to fight off the power of Sauron, a powerful maiar, in this scene the reader is shown the power she could have had if she had chosen to take the ring, however she turns down this immense power due to the evil she knows accompanies it. The Lady Galadriel is grave, wise, beautiful, and powerful, truly she is a model of the perfect women, whether it be elf or man. The other idealist female crafted by Tolkien was the half elf, half maiar maiden Lúthien, child of Thingol and Melian. Even when Lúthien is first introduced in the Silmarillion her gentle yet powerful nature was made abundantly evident: Keen, heart piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and ... • 27. Sigmund Freud s Theories About Psychoanalysis And The... Natasia Camfield Fort Madison High School Psychology, 5th Block Sigmund Freud s Theories about Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious Mind Sigmund Freud was well known for his theories on psychoanalysis, and it was used to help understand the unconscious mind better. In Freud s lifetime, he grew to be a very influential person of the twentieth century. The western society still uses words that he introduced in his time, some are libido, repression, denial, and neurotic. He was the founding father of the theory of psychoanalysis, which explains human behavior. He also believed that if we clarify our demeanor to ourselves or others, we do not give an honest version of our motivation (www.simplypsychology.org, 2015). On May 6th, 1856, Freud was born and soon came to be an Austrian neurologist. Freud was popular for his different view of the human mind and his practices are well known to this day. When he was just a child of 4, his family moved to Vienna, Austria and he practiced there for most of his life. In, 1881 Freud got his medical degree then soon started his own private practice. Josef Breuer was a colleague of Freud at the beginning of his career. Breuer inspired Freud, which lead him to believe that when a patient has had a traumatic experience in their past, it was latent within their conscious. To help with the traumatic experience, Freud advised them to remember those experiences and accept them (www.biography.com, 2015). Freud showed some of these examples in his ... Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for excessive investment in education, and in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) argued, the poor people live entwined in inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforces one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the treasured resources of any future nation, and therefore, financing beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive attention to the marginalized children the most likely to be victims of quality education access limitation. 1: 1: 7 Pre Colonial Education in Tanzania Before the arrival of colonial powers in Tanzania, education was informal. According to Omolewa (2007) informal education is a holistic approach, primarily part of the cultural heritage transferred to the youths through storytelling, riddles, myth, traditional songs, plays, folklore, and proverbs. • 29. AAnalysis On Wound Management Wound management is one of the cornerstones for nursing care however, effective wound care extends far beyond the application of the wound itself. Nurses may be required to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate wound care; therefore, order to fill these roles it s critical to have an understanding of the several different areas of wound care such as, integumentary system, classification of wounds, wound procedures, and documentation. Knowledge in each of these areas will allow nurses to make well informed decisions about wound care, and as a result play an active part in wound healing. Integumentary System The integumentary system or skin is our body s largest organ, which weighs 20 pounds or more, accounting for about 16% of total body weight (Thibodeau, 2014, p.93). According to Thibodeau (2014 p. 145) the: number of structures fitting into 1 square inch of skin: 500 sweat glands; more than 1000 nerve endings; yards of tiny blood vessels; nearly 100 sebaceous glands; 150 sensors for pressure, 75 for hot, 10 for cold; and millions of cells. The integumentary system can be broken down into three main categories the Epidermis, Dermis, and Subcutaneous layer each of which contain certain specialized skin derivatives including hair, nails, and several kinds of glands. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship between these two.
