Essay on The Protagonists in the Novel 1984 and Film V for...
In the novel 1984 and the film V for Vendetta , the protagonist for both stories are captured while
performing various acts of rebellion against the totalitarian government, of which is controlling their
city. In punishment, the government tortures them with harsh, inhumane methods that are similar to
those used in dictatorships during the 1900s like the USSR under Stalin s rule. However, both
protagonists are tortured by different sides, and by people from completely opposite ends of the
political ladder: one a government agent, the other a rebel. Although the themes disclosed in relation
to the purpose and meanings of torture are similar, the overall message and final opinion that is
expressed and conveyed to the recipients are complete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In V for Vendetta , the purpose of Evey s torture was quite simple. V was doing what Evey asked of
him: To become fearless against the government. Evey was kidnapped by V after Gordon was killed
by government agents for conspiracies against Norsefire (the government), and then placed in a false
government facility where Evey believed that she had been taken hostage by the secret agents. But she
was in fact under V s supervision and being tortured and interrogated by V, whom had no intention of
killing her from the beginning. The amount of control and restraints that V put on this project displays
a theme of control. He is controlling how Evey s personality, thinking, and memories should be by
forcing her to believe in a false reality. She believes that she is interrogated only to disclose V s
location, but she endures the harsh interrogations while gaining hatred for the government and
fearlessness. These facts demonstrate the theme of alienation, because V made Evey just like him:
Fearless against the government. This identity was not who Evey was before, and through torture, pain
and brainwashing he had taken away her identity, and replaced it with what he thought was best for
the future, and what would be beneficial to him as an ally. In some aspects, readers may misjudge the
two examples of torture above, coming to the conclusion that one was justified, because it was for the
good of

Essay Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs
Was Tarantino, the right director at the right time? Was he too talented not to be noticed? Tarantino
was fortunate in one respect; his first film was embraced by cerebral critics as well as the national
publicity machine starved for new heroes.
In a few years, Tarantino evolved from an unemployed actor writer working in a video store to the
hottest American filmmaker. He has become a crucial figure, replacing Martin Scorsese as a role
model for young indie directors. Like Scorsese, Tarantino is a cineaste who knows movies inside out
and is deeply committed to the medium. Unlike Scorsese, though, Tarantino did not go to film school,
instead getting his education in a video ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no further financial worries, they finished Reservoir Dogs in time for Sundance Festival, where
it began its conquest of the festival circuit.
Reservoir Dogs swept through Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto like a brushfire. Distributors who saw
the film at Sundance were worried that it would end up with an NC 17 rating for its graphic violence,
which drove many viewers out of the theatre. That particular fear did not materialize, although
eventually the violence worked against the film s broader acceptance. Reservoir Dogs left Sundance
without winning any awards, but it became the festival s most talked about movie, and Miramax
decided to distribute it. Over the course of that year, Tarantino turned up at festival after festival,
receiving lavish praise from intellectual critics for making the hottest indie of the year. When the
movie finally opened, it played for only a few weeks despite critical support, confirming initial fears
that it was too violent. Miramax s sparse marketing resulted in a modest box office gross of $1
million. Lack of commercial appeal did not stop Reservoir Dogs attaining cult status within the
industry. Most of the press focused not on the movie or its issues but on Tarantino as a self taught
auteur. In the end, Tarantino did not promote Reservoir Dogs;

Anti Semitism On Swing Kids And School Ties
Anti Semitism in Swing Kids and School Ties
Anti Semitism has no historical, political, and certainly no philosophical origins. Anti Semitism is a
disease Daniel Barenboim. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary anti Semitism is defined as
hatred of Jewish people. Two films were released in the 1990 s that deal with different issues
involving anti Semitism. One titled Swing Kids was set in Nazi Germany and tells the story of a group
of teenage resisters who rebel by doing swing dance, but are forced to be involved with the Nazis
anyways. The other film is titled School Ties . This film is set in the United states, but also deals with
issues of anti Semitism. In the film, Swing Kids a group of teens named Peter, Thomas and Arvid
rebel against the Nazis by being swing kids, those that are involved swing music. Swing music was
not tolerated by the Nazis in those times therefore making it such rebellious act. One day Thomas
scrapes Arvid s record and as a way to repay him, Thomas decides to steal a radio from a lady who
owns a stolen Jewish radio. Peter and Thomas are both in the midst of stealing the radio when they are
caught by German police. Thomas escapes, but Peter is caught, taken away and forced to join the
Hitler Youth. Thomas joins the program alongside Peter but unlike Peter, he succumbs to the
propaganda and is brainwashed. After Thomas continues to make fun and insult Arvid, Arvid
lamentably commits suicide. Peter comes to a better grasp of

The Consequences Of Revenge And Love In Shakespeare s Othello
William Shakespeare s tragic drama Othello focuses on the downfall and tragedy of its main
characters. An extract from another one of Shakespeare s tragedies goes by, To thine own self be true,
which relates to the themes and characters of Othello as seen through the literary approaches
psychoanalysis and Marxism. Through the characterisation of Iago, Desdemona and Othello, he is
able to connect plays with the themes of revenge, jealousy and love. The tragedy of Othello is
inevitable due to the consequences of its characters staying truthful to themselves or changing
progressively.
Iago s steadfast malicious intentions arising from his thoughts of revenge and jealousy is constant
throughout the play, giving an insight on his sincerity to himself. Due to his incapability of enabling
his own promotion and the ineffectiveness of gaining his wife s affection, the audience is able to read
Iago through the lens of psychoanalysis as he spends the entire plays striving to become influential to
atone for his fragility. Although Iago is observant enough to recognise his enemies as having
compensating features, The Moor, howbeit that I endure him not, is of a constant, loving, noble nature,
this does not halt Iago s desire to bring them down. The jealousy originates from the promotion of
Cassio to lieutenant so he is endeavouring to take revenge on both Othello and him. In his soliloquy,
Shakespeare alternates from prose to a verse style of writing, which displays his chaotic

Royal Dutch and Shell
Background. Royal Dutch Shell Group is one of the world s largest oil corporations and one of the
largest companies in Europe. The company was created as a result of a merge between Netherlands
Royal Dutch and UK s Shell Corporation. The case looks at the issue of price differentials between
several equity listings in different markets from the perspective of investors seeking an arbitrage
opportunity. Royal Dutch trades more actively in the Netherlands and U.S. markets, whereas Shell
trades more actively in the United States. The result is that the Royal Dutch/Shell relative price moves
positively with the Netherlands and U.S. markets and negatively with the U.K. market. Structure. The

For a private investor there would be no difference in the tax treatment between the two investment
opportunities. However, pension funds have different tax treatments in each jurisdiction depending on
whether the investor bought Royal Dutch or Shell. In Exhibit 8 of the case study, Royal Dutch was
trading for $141.368 in Europe and $141.375 in New York (a 7 cent differential). Shell was trading for
$124.222 in Europe and $126.554 in New York (a $2.332 differential). These price differences exist
due to market inefficiencies; however, these differences are small. As shown in the last column of
Exhibit 11, these calculations render small estimates of the impact of these discrepancies. The
percentage would be approximately 1% of the company valuation. The impact of these differences is
calculated with the following formula: Avg. dividend for the group x Difference in tax treatment for
the two entities. Arbitrage. In economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a
price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize
upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. In this case, there is an
opportunity for arbitrage. One arbitrage transaction that could be utilized would be a buy / sell
transaction. An investor could liquidate his holdings of Royal Dutch and

Peter Kirkpatrick s Suburban Moment
Peter Kirkpatrick s poem Suburban Moment, 2 a.m. is a poem told in first person by the narrator or
persona which Kirkpatrick has created. It is structured as a 14 line sonnet with eight lines in the first
stanza and six lines in the second stanza. In the poem, Kirkpatrick presents a persona/narrator,
suggestively himself, who, during the middle of the night (at 2 a.m. as the title suggests) has an
extensive case of writer s block and is determined not to let sleep tempt him until his poem is
complete. The language used, along with the sentence structure of the poem, suggests a stuck and
frustrated tone and situation. There are three particular lines which seem to be quite effective within
this poem. These lines are: 1. No moon. No clouds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This grammatical feature allows for the writer to explain, and the reader to comprehend, the time at
which the action of the verb takes place. It should be explained to the students the importance of verb
tenses. In particular, the aspect that these three tenses tell the time of a verb s action. In line with this,
it is also important for children to be given a definition for each of the tenses. For example: a past verb
tense (simple) shows that the action had occurred in the past, or the time leading up to now; a present
verb tense (simple) shows an action that is happening at that moment in time, or is reoccurring
regularly; and a future verb tense (simple) shows an action that will happen in the future, and have not
taken place yet. In simple verb tenses, past tense is generally recognised by words such as was ,
has/have , and words with an ed ending (e.g. I was talking , I have talked , I talked ); present tense can
be recognised by words such as is , am , are , and verbs ending in an s or ing (e.g. He is talking , I am

Positive And Negative Attributes In Lord Of The Flies
Positive attributes can propel people to success, however, when one s negative attribute is prominent it
can lead to the start of their downfall. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding,
there are many characters with strong personalities. While being trapped on an island the situations
may not always go as planned. A leader is needed to keep things in line but as one knows Jack and
Ralph fought head to head for power. From the novel it is clear that Ralph is a natural leader, uses
common sense, and is charismatic, Jack on the other hand wanted power, didn t always use his
common sense, and is also charismatic. Those are examples of a few of Ralph and Jack s positive and
negative attributes.
Throughout the novel both characters, Ralph and Jack have a thirst for power. One may say that Jack
is a stronger leader due to his persuasiveness with his need for power, but on the other hand Ralph is a
great natural leader. From the beginning Ralph shows interest in getting home while leading the group
of boys. Ralph may be young but he seems to have a general idea on how to get the group going in the
right direction. He has an innate ability to split the group up and give them the important tasks that
need to be done to survive for several days for example: tending to the fire, and hunting which was
Jack and the choirboys job. To be a good leader you must stay positive which Ralph is able to do
majority of the time by persistently believing that everyone

Advantages Of The Montessori Method
Students in traditional schools may not be getting the best education they can receive. Some students
grow up lacking the necessary skills required to perform well in the real world. The Montessori
Method trains students for real life situations. The children are not only taught the standard in
academics. They also develop emotional and social skills required to excel in their future careers. The
Montessori Method also puts other subcategories such as art and geology at the same level as
geometry or math. Standard teaching methods lack this variety of education, ultimately causing
students to feel overwhelmed in social situations and uneducated in certain subjects. Montessori

In a Montessori classroom, the teacher is the guide and the materials are the teacher. Sometimes the
teacher will sit kids down for a small group lesson, but most of the time the students are working
independently or with a partner. Social and behavioral skills are developed sooner in Montessori
students as opposed to traditionally taught students. A study themselves in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
where two groups of 12 year olds and two groups of 5 year olds were given basic assessments that
measured social development. One group in both age bands went to a Montessori school while the
other groups did not. Both Montessori groups scored higher on the social and behavioral development
tests compared to the students who did not attend a Montessori school (Do...). Even though
Montessori students learn at their own pace, they reach beyond the standard in education. Learning is
a discovery for students rather than a chore. Homework does not teach children responsibility, time
management skills, self discipline or more of what they should be learning during the day. What it
teaches is how to put up with a job that they dislike (McCarthy). Responsibility, time management,
and self discipline are not taught in traditional schools. These skills are expected to already be
mastered by the student but there are still students in college procrastinating until the night before a
deadline.

Spearheading The Second Great Awakening
After the Revolutionary War ended, a rebellion against the church began during the 1730s, known as
the Great Awakening. This Awakening transformed the topography of the European Religious culture.
Americans wanted a religion that was compatible with their way of life. During the era of the
Revolution, the most substantial denominations were the Quakers, the Congregationalists, and the
Anglicans. After America s liberation from the tyranny of the British Crown and religious ideology of
predestination, they wanted to associated themselves with a religion that gave them more control over
their destination. Americans adopted the freedom of choice allowing them to accept or reject God s
salvation for themselves.

Examples Of Conflict And Mediation
Conflict and Mediation An Introduction
We live during a time where conflict arises every day between people all over the world. What is of
interest is not what the conflict is about but rather, the way people handle the conflict. Mediation is
one of a number of alternative dispute resolution ( ADR ) mechanisms used to solve conflicts arising
between individuals. Mediation is a process whereby a neutral third party, the mediator, guides the
negotiation process in order to enable the parties to communicate and to voluntarily work towards
finding a resolution to their dispute in a sustainable manner.
Directive 2008/52/EC on certain Aspects of Mediation in Civil and Commercial Matters ( the
Directive ) provided a new momentum in Europe by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A non registered mediator is generally not subject to confidentiality or exemptions from the duty to
give evidence in court. Lawyers or other professionals, who act as mediators but are not registered,
would still be subject to the duty of confidentiality. The parties do not have a duty of confidentiality
but may contract an agreement thereof.
In line with article 7 of the Directive, in Austria, registered mediators may not be compelled to give
evidence in civil and commercial judicial proceedings or arbitration, regarding information arising out
of or in connection with a mediation process . However exceptions to the confidentiality principle
include instances where it is necessary for overriding considerations of public policy and where the
disclosure of the content of the mediation agreement is necessary in order to implement or enforce that
agreement . The testimony given by registered mediators in breach of this duty would be considered
inadmissible. Unlike non registered mediators, registered mediators may refuse to testify in criminal

The Role Of Radical Feminism In The United States
Women have fought oppression in the past, and are still considered fighting today. Feminism has
become very popular in the United States. Equality of the sexes has been accomplished in many areas,
yet equality is only the beginning for radical feminists in the Untied States. The idea of equality of the
sexes has been twisted into the fantasy of women as the dominant gender.
Feminism is defined as the belief of equality among the sexes, socially, politically, and economically.
The idea of feminism originated as early as 18th century France, and continued to grow with women s
public actions to acquire individual liberties in the 19th and 20th Centuries (The Roots Of The Word
Feminism ). For areas such as the Middle East, China, and France, feminism was a large rigorous
battle. The United States did not join the bandwagon until women fully displayed it in 1848, fighting
for their right to vote.Still active today, feminists wish to end the concept of men being the dominate
gender. However, feminism, though needed in certain areas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1864 Presidential Campaign Analysis
The primary issue during the presidential campaign of 1864 was the Civil War and determining how it
was going to come to a conclusion. The growing divide between the North and the South had become
overwhelming. The North and the South could not come to any agreements on issues such as slavery,
nullification, and tariffs. The greatest dividing factor was slavery, which was currently legal in the
South but was becoming increasingly unpopular in the North. Southerners feared it was only a matter
of time before northerners obtained the political power in order to abolish slavery throughout the
country. South Carolina was the first southern state to secede, followed by Georgia, Florida, Alabama,

Johnson chose to continue President Lincoln s moderate reconstructive plan to repair the South as well
as the relationship shared by the North and South. Johnson also was disinclined to punish the South,
despite the many increasingly persistent Northern Radicals who demanded that the South should
receive penalties for opposing the Union. This was similar to President Lincoln s decision, he also
refused to punish the South. Not only did Johnson follow Lincoln s plans, he also supported lincoln s
political views. Johnson oversaw the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution disbanding
slavery. Lincoln had always strongly supported the abolishment of slavery and the belief that all men
are created equal. Although Johnson was able to successfully complete a significant amount of his
predecessor s intentions, he was not very successful in fulfilling Lincoln s remaining term. President
Johnson was from the South, but supported the Union during the war, he was called a traitor by many
citizens of the South. In this way Johnson alienated himself from many groups, including the Whig
Party. Johnson also became the first president in history to be impeached, however he was later

Paul after the Damascus Road Essay
The Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, is a central figure within both Christian tradition and
New Testament thought and writing. With such a crucial place, it is vital that we come to understand
more of his life and thinking, as well as the world in which he and, more specifically, his theology
were shaped. With this in mind, this essay will seek to explore Paul s conversion and call experience
as understood from Acts, and his personal references to it, drawing from them the ways in which this
time was significant for Paul s theological thinking, as expressed in his letters and work. To achieve
this we will begin by addressing the call and/or conversion debate, arguing that the term conversion
and call best encapsulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This argument does not, however, decisively remove the possible use of conversion for Paul, as
Stendahl s view that conversion must mean abandonment of a previous religious system is certainly
not a necessary condition. In addition to this, to remove the language of conversion from Paul s
experience is to remove its decisiveness; its absolute alteration of Paul s thinking and being that can be
seen in Gal 1:12 14. In these passages we see Paul speak of the risen Christ, who gave him his
teaching and drew him away from his life in the Law, and as a Pharisee, in which he excelled (Gal
1:14) and which had led him to persecute the Church (Gal 1:13). When this Christocentric language is
placed against his former understanding, which had caused him to persecute the Church, one cannot
simply speak of a call , but rather must move to language of radical turning, of conversion . As this
shows, while Stendahl s argument that Paul should not be considered a convert is not strong enough to
warrant abandonment of the term, his exposition of Paul as called should not be ignored, as, from a
missional point of view, he certainly was. This leads us to the conception of Paul s experience as
encapsulating both call and a conversion dynamic, more fully expressing the reports he and others
gave of this time. The Christocentrism we touched on in the previous paragraph is one of the most
fundamental

Summer Of 83 Chapter 2 Summary
If you aren t willing to face your demons if you can t find the courage to take on your fear and hurt

of 83 Dickey tells his traumatic rape stories. Dickey demonstrated a great deal of fear and innocence.
At the tender age of ten, R.A. was exposed to very explicit behaviour numerous amounts of time.

search of self awareness, he had little to no confidence in his pitches. He relied heavily on his knuckle

career at jeopardy. Once Dickey turned to his Christian faith, he began to find his self awareness that
he was searching for and started to excel in his performance. Although he did well, he wanted to be
the best, so he paid attention to the game as a whole and realized that one is only good as their last
inning . With this thought in the back of his head he came to the conclusion that he needs to learn from
the mistakes he made in previous games rather than dwelling on them. Also, he realized that the fans
play a crucial part in the game, they know how to get in the players head and make them feel for their
mistakes, so having a rock hard confidence is key, not only for the fans, but for big games like the
playoffs as well. Dickey s new found confidence is what put him on the map, winning him several

The Effects of Different Temperatures on the Reaction Rates of Enzymes B. Introduction /
Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to
function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take
longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino
acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is
responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut
food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use.
Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types
of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist
throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is
essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food.
However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will
destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major
role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food
already contains them. If we eat a salad than there are enzymes in the salad that help break

How To Prepare For Western Civilization
To prepare, I first wrote a paper about Winston Churchill that I had to do for my Western Civilization
II class. This helped me pick out what information I wanted to include in my speech. I used one
Sunday to the write the bulk of my paper, as well as my speech outline. I was expecting to give our
speeches earlier than when we started, so I started practicing my speech early. I had time to memorize
all that I could and used notecards for specific dates and facts. When I got up in front of the audience,
I became really nervous even though I was well prepared. I could feel my hands shaking and my heart

speech before. I also presented one of my pictures out of order, which I didn t think I would do. I had

I wrote out a paper beforehand, and that helped. Next time, I suppose I ll try not to be so nervous,

Great Companies Moral Responsibility In Good To Great

the hiring process using three practical disciplines. Having the right people in the right position is one
of the key aspects of having a great company. When a company is attempting to go from good to great
these disciplines are needed to head down that path to greatness. The first is when in doubt, don t hire.
Great companies do not settle or hire just to fill an open position. They take the time to interview and

form of love he ever gave was to himself to boost his own egotistical personality. 2. Pathetic Fallacy is
a literary technique used in the setting to reflect the feelings for the characters. In terms of Helena

Alphonse Daudet s short story, A Game of Billiards, is a satire on war and everyone involved in it. It
mocks the folly of the soldiers on the battlefield. They sit and wait for their Marshal to give direct
orders to attack and fight the incoming militants. Even as the opposing military approached, they do
not move and allow themselves to me ruthlessly murdered, they await orders from headquarters, but
none come (p. 31). Their Marshal is ignoring their many attempts to contact him, simply because he
wants to win a game of billiards. He allows his entire regime to be murdered for his own mistakes.
The entire idea of war, on the other hand, is seen as a vice. Men huddle in close quarters in order to

James Popham Analysis
How do people support these ideas? What would improve the educational system using these ideals?
In today s field of education, there is a transparent division between the data driven outside group of
education reformist, and the day to day inside group who facilitates the educational standards and
curriculum. Members of the outside group are often criticized for their apparent one size fits all;
standardized model of education. Many outside appointed officials boast about the continued growth
in student achievement from an analytical standard, while many teachers ask but at what cost? In an
article written by W. James Popham, he characterizes the outsider s educational model as an assault

Dewey s statement was and should still be the ideology of what education is. The quality of a student s
education should not be based on what percentile he ranks on a standardized assessment against
students from 41 other states. What skills has that student learned during his/hers matriculation
through their respective education system? What skills can they continually practice in their everyday
life? If education continues to follow the model of the outsiders , then students and teachers will
continue to simply cram for the test.
What are the issues of school improvement? What suggestions for solutions are possible?
With the modern trend in student and teacher accountability, the art of teaching is slowly becoming
lost. The primary objectives of the Department of Education, school districts, teachers and students
today are to simply ace the end of the year assessments. This current model of education abandons the
beliefs of past educators where strengthening a teacher s instructional strategies would surely
outweigh the production line assembly of general curriculums and standardized

ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE
1. INTRODUCTION
One of the significant elements while discussing about organization development is to discuss its own
existing culture as the culture itself is part of organization behavior that gives significant role in
shaping organizational sustainability.
Above all there is a need to recognize the right culture for any organization to achieve excellence.
Peters and Waterman (1982) clearly described organizational culture as the human side of an
organization with managers key role being to shape culture by making meaning for employees out of
the confusing place that some organization can be. It is no doubt one of the absolute function of any ...

While preparing the planned change, an organization must be able to identify its own culture.
According to Md Zabid Abdul Rashid, Sambasivan and Azmawani Abdul Rahman (2003)
organizational culture is associated with attitudes towards organizational change. Different types of
organizational culture have different level of acceptance on attitude towards organizational change.
Organizational culture gives impacts on organizational change process. While referring to the
transformational type of change, there is no doubt that the transformation process, which regarded as
the most complex and comprehensive type of change process requires radical shift that covers change
in culture, behaviour and mindset of all the components within the organization.
Thus it is clearly understood here that complete understanding of organizational culture will lead to
and rightful approaches to tackle any organizational development and change process. Organizational
culture decides the way its members make decisions, the way they make interpretation, manage and
operate. In other words, organizational culture affects organization s competitive position. Inability to
manage organizational culture will give negative consequences on organization s performance.

Essay On Modern Day Animal Farm
How Is Islamic State a Modern Day Animal Farm?
Although alluding to a completely different nation in a different time period, George Orwell s animals
in Animal Farm also have their similarities with ISIS, a modern day terrorist organization. George
Orwell alluded to Stalin s USSR(Soviet Union) seventy years ago with this work, but similar allusions
can be made to today s ISIS. ISIS is a modern day Animal Farm because Animal Farm s and ISIS s
leader are very similar, they use a certain ideology to make people believe what they say, and certain
similarities are shared between the pigs and ISIS members.
Animal Farm and ISIS s leaders are similar. In Animal Farm s case it is Napoleon, and in ISIS s case it
is Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. Both are very bad people and are selfish and greedy. Both use propaganda to
make people believe what they say. When Napoleon does something on purpose for his own purpose

Impact Of Green Supply Chain Management On Industry,...
This paper investigates the impact of green supply chain management on industry, consumer
perception and environment. Through research into multiple companies and case studies, a distorted
perception among large corporations shows a historic struggle to find a balance between profit and
sustainability. However, the potential long term effects of the lack of environmental courtesy cannot
be undone and therefore must be carefully engineered. Multi billion dollar automotive corporations
such as Hyundai and Toyota will be discussed and studied in depth to conclude the innovative changes
contributed in the automotive industry resulting in maximum efficiency in lean and green production.
Additionally, while studying these companies, the overall question of whether intentional sustainable
practices provide increased customer satisfaction and comfort is answered through a survey given to
100 random people. In this small sample, it was found that 33% of consumers care about green
business practices in automotive production but only 8% saw an increase in value because of it.

What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good Essay
What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good The basis of Plato s philosophy is his theory of Ideas, or
doctrine of Forms while the notion of Forms is essential to Plato s philosophy, over years of
philosophical study, it has been difficult to understand what these Forms are supposed to be, and the
purpose of their existence. When examining Plato s forms and evaluating the theory, some conclusions
have proved to be unclear and unanswered. However, the doctrine of Forms is essential to Plato s
philosophy. Plato came to his view of the Forms based on two premises: first that knowledge cannot
come through the senses; and second, we do nevertheless manage to know things in mathematics, for
instance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slaves know nothing of reality except the one of which they are presented as the Sun, which
represents the Form of the Good is outside the cave but the slaves have no idea of its existence. One
day a prisoner is released from his shackles and goes up to the upper part of the cave and sees the fire
and the objects, which are casting the shadows, and he also sees the sun and is blinded by this higher
form of reality. Plato believed that the way to find or realise true reality is not through gathering
empirical evidence or through deep scientific tests such as studying the shadows to determine what
they are. But rather that in order to break the chains we can only do so through inner contemplation or
philosophical investigation in order to ascend out of the cave and see the sun which gives light to all
the forms. For every sense object in the empirical world, there is a corresponding perfect Form. These
Forms are non physical, permanent, eternal, and invisible. How then, you may ask, can one ever know
of the Forms if they cannot be known by sense perception? Plato answers this question by stating that
the Forms are known in thought. They are the objects of thought, therefore, whenever you are
thinking, you are thinking of Forms. An important point to note about the Forms is the idea of
permanence as the Forms are forever unchanging. An

The power of a sign is mesmerizing, throughout this process I interviewed a diverse range of people
and while majority didn t have much to say on the topic, one lady in particular really gave me some
valuable insight on the power of a sign. I asked her if I could use her name in my paper, she said yes.
Her name is Samantha Beckford and she is from Africa or The Motherland as she likes to call it. We
talked for over 3 hours while walking around the Strong Museum viewing all the great things, little
did I know that the whole time I was getting a history lesson on the swastika. She told me that the
swastika was actually adopted by the Nazi party and not created by the Nazi party. The swastika in

Themes in Mircea Eliade s The Sacred and the Profane
Mircea Eliade s The Sacred and the Profane analyzes a wide variety of components that are found
within various world religions. Eliade uses the history of religion to support his ideas as the the book
itself is a brief introduction to religion as a whole, particulary the religions of primitive societies.
Nonetheless, when looking to the past one can see that mankind s desire to associate itself with the
sacred has been occuring for thousands of years. From temples to passages of intiation, religious man
is a unique microcosm that follows and repeats the structure of the religious macrocosm, the creation
of the cosmos. One can conclude that Eliade views religion as the paradigmatic solution for every
existential crisis. (p210) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The participation in these events and overall repetition enforces the religious content and provides an
optimistic vision of existence and eventual transcendence for the participant. It provides a break from
a temporal and profane duration of time and into a sacred time of importance and meaning for a
religion and its followers. Religious experience then would fall into the personal realm of man himself
and how he perceives the world around him. Nature provides a chief component in primitive religious
man s view of the cosmos and his gods. The sky houses the gods, remote although it may be, natural
phenomenon such as thunder and rain gave primitive and early religious man the reasoning to place
his gods above him in the intangible heavens as such natural occurrences were due in part to the
supernatural beings dwelling in the skies. Alongside the sky, the observation of the transition of the
moon and sun (night and day) signify death and rebirth. Water too plays a symbolic part in human
experience and although it has a powerful capability to destroy life, it also reiterates the cosmogonic
cycle, especially with the practice of baptism where water renews life. (p132) Earth itself is also
linked to the human experience of child birth with females. The idea of a Terra Mater or mother earth
(p138) symbolizes the idea of the earth reproducing its vegetation based life in comparison to the
experience of mother giving birth of her children.

Migraine Informative Speech
IT IS NOT JUST A HEADACHE. 3
It Is Not Just a Headache.
An Informative Essay
As stated by Dr. Dawn Marcus (2013), If you have migraines, you know migraines can touch many
areas of your life. A Migraine is more than just a headache or a pain disorder―migraine can change
how your go about your day, how you feel about yourself, and how you interact with important people
in your life (p. 1).
According to Ellen Welch (20103), a migraine is a disorder thought to affect 2 15 percent of the world
s population (p. 45). Among those migraines is a condition called Hemiplegic Migraine. At the first
occurrence of this type of a migraine, even medical professionals mistake it for a full blown stroke.
There are many steps to successfully overcome the effects of a migraine. Test to eliminate major
medical issues are a series of test preformed to rule out any serious illness such as stroke, meningitis,

during a severe attack and might require help in choosing which rescue medication he/she should take.

Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes was,
Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a
dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is just one example
of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For
though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John
Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is
because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics.
The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist
person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist, Trump
has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment:
This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was viciously
killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back into the
United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. This is merely one of thousands ... Show more

That was a fact that was blatantly evident if some of his speeches about border control. Trump has
spoken of border control very poorly, with his thoughts on the matter seeming to be racist. However
Trump may feel personally about the border, what he has to realize is that now he is not only speaking
on the behalf of himself, he is speaking on the behalf of a country. A country that has maintained very
good relations with the Mexican government, and would be unwise to suddenly break off those
relations because Donald Trump cannot stop saying things that are slanderous towards the Mexican
government, such as the following quote from one of Trump s

Treatise On The War Machine

Introduction
A Thousand Plateaus Outline
Treatise On Nomadology The War Machine
In the overview of the chapter Treatise on Nomadology The War Machine of the book A Thousand
Plateaus the writer describes how the chess game has been used to represent the state whereas the
nomad and smooth allowance relationship has been expounded using the Go player. The writer,
Deleuze explains how chess and Go are different. According to the text, chess encodes and decodes
the spaces within the game whereas Go is different from chess because it territorializes and
deterritorializes the spaces. In other words, Deleuze is explaining how the war machine and state tools
are way different in their purity. According to the writer, a state is not just a state that is governed by
administration officers like chiefs, he views a state as a society that has arms of government at work or
rather mechanisms. According to this chapter, Treatise On Nomadology The War Machine ,
mechanisms are way beyond primitive structures such as the primordial, rhizomatic which are
nomadic and arborescent and are majorly based on the organs of power (p. 357 358). This book
review explains into details the chapter Treatise On Nomadology The War Machine of the book A
Thousand Plateaus on various aspects such as the war vs. the state, the war machine rules, how the
war machine maintains nomad science and the methods utilized by the writers in

Poetry Makes a Man in Dead Poets Society Essay
Poetry Makes a Man When people take poetry as more than just words with meanings, but as words to
live by and take the poem to heart, the person may and will change by the words they live on. The
type of poetry will affect the way the person changes. In the very inspirational movie of Dead Poets
Society, Tom Schulman the screen writer, through the character of the visionary Mr. Keating: uses
plays and poetry to help the major characters and even some minor characters through their dilemmas
and any situations that could have applied to these inspired characters to think freely and take a new
road in life. Major characters such as Neil, Todd, Knox, Charlie, and Cameron have taken the
influential poetic teachings of Mr. Keating to heart and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Neil s father still being mad and frustrated, everything goes south and Neil has his Carpe diem
moment when the whole family discussed about his future, but not having as much confidence
towards his father as his peers, Neil decides not to take the moment and leaves us speechless on his
next action. Todd was the character that was the most affected by Mr. Keating s poetic teachings; the
viewers could even say poetry makes a man based on Todd s improvements. At the beginning of the
movie, Todd has a moment, when we understand and may even pity Todd because he says that no one
would listen to him and he was not the leading type. The poem of O Me! O Life! greatly resembled
Todd s situation. In the poem the audience hears of a narrator who is suffering through life and the
audience feels despair, but then the audience hears there is an answer! The answer being that we are
here and contribute a verse, showed that there is hope after all and that Todd can be more than just a
person who is suffering through life with no confidence. This poem initiated the confidence and the
Carpe diem also helped Todd to not only have confidence, but to be a leader that the viewers can
admire. Also showing that Todd had changed was the fact that in the beginning of the movie, Todd
was the last one to stand on the desk, and see things from a different perspective, and address Mr.
Keating as O Captain! My Captain! , which is also a poem. In the middle of the movie the

  • 2. Essay on The Protagonists in the Novel 1984 and Film V for... In the novel 1984 and the film V for Vendetta , the protagonist for both stories are captured while performing various acts of rebellion against the totalitarian government, of which is controlling their city. In punishment, the government tortures them with harsh, inhumane methods that are similar to those used in dictatorships during the 1900s like the USSR under Stalin s rule. However, both protagonists are tortured by different sides, and by people from completely opposite ends of the political ladder: one a government agent, the other a rebel. Although the themes disclosed in relation to the purpose and meanings of torture are similar, the overall message and final opinion that is expressed and conveyed to the recipients are complete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In V for Vendetta , the purpose of Evey s torture was quite simple. V was doing what Evey asked of him: To become fearless against the government. Evey was kidnapped by V after Gordon was killed by government agents for conspiracies against Norsefire (the government), and then placed in a false government facility where Evey believed that she had been taken hostage by the secret agents. But she was in fact under V s supervision and being tortured and interrogated by V, whom had no intention of killing her from the beginning. The amount of control and restraints that V put on this project displays a theme of control. He is controlling how Evey s personality, thinking, and memories should be by forcing her to believe in a false reality. She believes that she is interrogated only to disclose V s location, but she endures the harsh interrogations while gaining hatred for the government and fearlessness. These facts demonstrate the theme of alienation, because V made Evey just like him: Fearless against the government. This identity was not who Evey was before, and through torture, pain and brainwashing he had taken away her identity, and replaced it with what he thought was best for the future, and what would be beneficial to him as an ally. In some aspects, readers may misjudge the two examples of torture above, coming to the conclusion that one was justified, because it was for the good of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay Reservoir Dogs Reservoir Dogs Was Tarantino, the right director at the right time? Was he too talented not to be noticed? Tarantino was fortunate in one respect; his first film was embraced by cerebral critics as well as the national publicity machine starved for new heroes. In a few years, Tarantino evolved from an unemployed actor writer working in a video store to the hottest American filmmaker. He has become a crucial figure, replacing Martin Scorsese as a role model for young indie directors. Like Scorsese, Tarantino is a cineaste who knows movies inside out and is deeply committed to the medium. Unlike Scorsese, though, Tarantino did not go to film school, instead getting his education in a video ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With no further financial worries, they finished Reservoir Dogs in time for Sundance Festival, where it began its conquest of the festival circuit. Reservoir Dogs swept through Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto like a brushfire. Distributors who saw the film at Sundance were worried that it would end up with an NC 17 rating for its graphic violence, which drove many viewers out of the theatre. That particular fear did not materialize, although eventually the violence worked against the film s broader acceptance. Reservoir Dogs left Sundance without winning any awards, but it became the festival s most talked about movie, and Miramax decided to distribute it. Over the course of that year, Tarantino turned up at festival after festival, receiving lavish praise from intellectual critics for making the hottest indie of the year. When the movie finally opened, it played for only a few weeks despite critical support, confirming initial fears that it was too violent. Miramax s sparse marketing resulted in a modest box office gross of $1 million. Lack of commercial appeal did not stop Reservoir Dogs attaining cult status within the industry. Most of the press focused not on the movie or its issues but on Tarantino as a self taught auteur. In the end, Tarantino did not promote Reservoir Dogs; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anti Semitism is a disease Daniel Barenboim. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary anti Semitism is defined as hatred of Jewish people. Two films were released in the 1990 s that deal with different issues involving anti Semitism. One titled Swing Kids was set in Nazi Germany and tells the story of a group of teenage resisters who rebel by doing swing dance, but are forced to be involved with the Nazis anyways. The other film is titled School Ties . This film is set in the United states, but also deals with issues of anti Semitism. In the film, Swing Kids a group of teens named Peter, Thomas and Arvid rebel against the Nazis by being swing kids, those that are involved swing music. Swing music was not tolerated by the Nazis in those times therefore making it such rebellious act. One day Thomas scrapes Arvid s record and as a way to repay him, Thomas decides to steal a radio from a lady who owns a stolen Jewish radio. Peter and Thomas are both in the midst of stealing the radio when they are caught by German police. Thomas escapes, but Peter is caught, taken away and forced to join the Hitler Youth. • 5. The Consequences Of Revenge And Love In Shakespeare s Othello William Shakespeare s tragic drama Othello focuses on the downfall and tragedy of its main characters. An extract from another one of Shakespeare s tragedies goes by, To thine own self be true, which relates to the themes and characters of Othello as seen through the literary approaches psychoanalysis and Marxism. Through the characterisation of Iago, Desdemona and Othello, he is able to connect plays with the themes of revenge, jealousy and love. The tragedy of Othello is inevitable due to the consequences of its characters staying truthful to themselves or changing progressively. Iago s steadfast malicious intentions arising from his thoughts of revenge and jealousy is constant throughout the play, giving an insight on his sincerity to himself. Due to his incapability of enabling his own promotion and the ineffectiveness of gaining his wife s affection, the audience is able to read Iago through the lens of psychoanalysis as he spends the entire plays striving to become influential to atone for his fragility. Although Iago is observant enough to recognise his enemies as having compensating features, The Moor, howbeit that I endure him not, is of a constant, loving, noble nature, this does not halt Iago s desire to bring them down. The jealousy originates from the promotion of Cassio to lieutenant so he is endeavouring to take revenge on both Othello and him. In his soliloquy, Shakespeare alternates from prose to a verse style of writing, which displays his chaotic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company was created as a result of a merge between Netherlands Royal Dutch and UK s Shell Corporation. The case looks at the issue of price differentials between several equity listings in different markets from the perspective of investors seeking an arbitrage opportunity. Royal Dutch trades more actively in the Netherlands and U.S. markets, whereas Shell trades more actively in the United States. The result is that the Royal Dutch/Shell relative price moves positively with the Netherlands and U.S. markets and negatively with the U.K. market. Structure. For a private investor there would be no difference in the tax treatment between the two investment opportunities. However, pension funds have different tax treatments in each jurisdiction depending on whether the investor bought Royal Dutch or Shell. In Exhibit 8 of the case study, Royal Dutch was trading for $141.368 in Europe and $141.375 in New York (a 7 cent differential). Shell was trading for $124.222 in Europe and $126.554 in New York (a $2.332 differential). These price differences exist due to market inefficiencies; however, these differences are small. As shown in the last column of Exhibit 11, these calculations render small estimates of the impact of these discrepancies. The percentage would be approximately 1% of the company valuation. The impact of these differences is calculated with the following formula: Avg. dividend for the group x Difference in tax treatment for the two entities. Arbitrage. In economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. In this case, there is an opportunity for arbitrage. One arbitrage transaction that could be utilized would be a buy / sell transaction. It is structured as a 14 line sonnet with eight lines in the first stanza and six lines in the second stanza. In the poem, Kirkpatrick presents a persona/narrator, suggestively himself, who, during the middle of the night (at 2 a.m. as the title suggests) has an extensive case of writer s block and is determined not to let sleep tempt him until his poem is complete. This grammatical feature allows for the writer to explain, and the reader to comprehend, the time at which the action of the verb takes place. It should be explained to the students the importance of verb tenses. In particular, the aspect that these three tenses tell the time of a verb s action. In line with this, it is also important for children to be given a definition for each of the tenses. For example: a past verb tense (simple) shows that the action had occurred in the past, or the time leading up to now; a present verb tense (simple) shows an action that is happening at that moment in time, or is reoccurring regularly; and a future verb tense (simple) shows an action that will happen in the future, and have not taken place yet. In simple verb tenses, past tense is generally recognised by words such as was , has/have , and words with an ed ending (e.g. I was talking , I have talked , I talked ); present tense can be recognised by words such as is , am , are , and verbs ending in an s or ing (e.g. He is talking , I am talking , We are talking , He talks ); future tense is normally recognised through the use of the word will (e.g. I will ... • 8. Positive And Negative Attributes In Lord Of The Flies Positive attributes can propel people to success, however, when one s negative attribute is prominent it can lead to the start of their downfall. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, there are many characters with strong personalities. While being trapped on an island the situations may not always go as planned. A leader is needed to keep things in line but as one knows Jack and Ralph fought head to head for power. From the novel it is clear that Ralph is a natural leader, uses common sense, and is charismatic, Jack on the other hand wanted power, didn t always use his common sense, and is also charismatic. Those are examples of a few of Ralph and Jack s positive and negative attributes. Throughout the novel both characters, Ralph and Jack have a thirst for power. One may say that Jack is a stronger leader due to his persuasiveness with his need for power, but on the other hand Ralph is a great natural leader. From the beginning Ralph shows interest in getting home while leading the group of boys. Ralph may be young but he seems to have a general idea on how to get the group going in the right direction. He has an innate ability to split the group up and give them the important tasks that need to be done to survive for several days for example: tending to the fire, and hunting which was Jack and the choirboys job. What it teaches is how to put up with a job that they dislike (McCarthy). Responsibility, time management, and self discipline are not taught in traditional schools. Mediation is a process whereby a neutral third party, the mediator, guides the negotiation process in order to enable the parties to communicate and to voluntarily work towards finding a resolution to their dispute in a sustainable manner. Equality of the sexes has been accomplished in many areas, yet equality is only the beginning for radical feminists in the Untied States. The idea of equality of the sexes has been twisted into the fantasy of women as the dominant gender. Feminism is defined as the belief of equality among the sexes, socially, politically, and economically. The idea of feminism originated as early as 18th century France, and continued to grow with women s public actions to acquire individual liberties in the 19th and 20th Centuries (The Roots Of The Word Feminism ). For areas such as the Middle East, China, and France, feminism was a large rigorous battle. The growing divide between the North and the South had become overwhelming. The North and the South could not come to any agreements on issues such as slavery, nullification, and tariffs. The greatest dividing factor was slavery, which was currently legal in the South but was becoming increasingly unpopular in the North. Southerners feared it was only a matter of time before northerners obtained the political power in order to abolish slavery throughout the country. Johnson chose to continue President Lincoln s moderate reconstructive plan to repair the South as well as the relationship shared by the North and South. Johnson also was disinclined to punish the South, despite the many increasingly persistent Northern Radicals who demanded that the South should receive penalties for opposing the Union. This was similar to President Lincoln s decision, he also refused to punish the South. Not only did Johnson follow Lincoln s plans, he also supported lincoln s political views. Johnson oversaw the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution disbanding slavery. Lincoln had always strongly supported the abolishment of slavery and the belief that all men are created equal. Although Johnson was able to successfully complete a significant amount of his predecessor s intentions, he was not very successful in fulfilling Lincoln s remaining term. President Johnson was from the South, but supported the Union during the war, he was called a traitor by many citizens of the South. In this way Johnson alienated himself from many groups, including the Whig Party. • 15. Paul after the Damascus Road Essay The Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, is a central figure within both Christian tradition and New Testament thought and writing. With such a crucial place, it is vital that we come to understand more of his life and thinking, as well as the world in which he and, more specifically, his theology were shaped. With this in mind, this essay will seek to explore Paul s conversion and call experience as understood from Acts, and his personal references to it, drawing from them the ways in which this time was significant for Paul s theological thinking, as expressed in his letters and work. To achieve this we will begin by addressing the call and/or conversion debate, arguing that the term conversion and call best encapsulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument does not, however, decisively remove the possible use of conversion for Paul, as Stendahl s view that conversion must mean abandonment of a previous religious system is certainly not a necessary condition. In addition to this, to remove the language of conversion from Paul s experience is to remove its decisiveness; its absolute alteration of Paul s thinking and being that can be seen in Gal 1:12 14. In these passages we see Paul speak of the risen Christ, who gave him his teaching and drew him away from his life in the Law, and as a Pharisee, in which he excelled (Gal 1:14) and which had led him to persecute the Church (Gal 1:13). When this Christocentric language is placed against his former understanding, which had caused him to persecute the Church, one cannot simply speak of a call , but rather must move to language of radical turning, of conversion . As this shows, while Stendahl s argument that Paul should not be considered a convert is not strong enough to warrant abandonment of the term, his exposition of Paul as called should not be ignored, as, from a missional point of view, he certainly was. This leads us to the conception of Paul s experience as encapsulating both call and a conversion dynamic, more fully expressing the reports he and others gave of this time. The Christocentrism we touched on in the previous paragraph is one of the most fundamental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once Dickey turned to his Christian faith, he began to find his self awareness that he was searching for and started to excel in his performance. Although he did well, he wanted to be the best, so he paid attention to the game as a whole and realized that one is only good as their last inning . With this thought in the back of his head he came to the conclusion that he needs to learn from the mistakes he made in previous games rather than dwelling on them. Introduction / Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. When examining Plato s forms and evaluating the theory, some conclusions have proved to be unclear and unanswered. However, the doctrine of Forms is essential to Plato s philosophy. One day a prisoner is released from his shackles and goes up to the upper part of the cave and sees the fire and the objects, which are casting the shadows, and he also sees the sun and is blinded by this higher form of reality. Plato believed that the way to find or realise true reality is not through gathering empirical evidence or through deep scientific tests such as studying the shadows to determine what they are. But rather that in order to break the chains we can only do so through inner contemplation or philosophical investigation in order to ascend out of the cave and see the sun which gives light to all the forms.
