Comparing Trypho And Augustine s City Of God
I found the Dialogue with Trypho quite true to the modern views of Christianity. Similarly, the works
of God is also present in Augustine s City of God. We can see that, according to these readings, there
is, obviously, one true God in the Christian faith, who, always maintains the same nature, and in the
same manner, and is the cause of all other things that, indeed, is God (Martyr, pg. 2). Both authors
denounce post Christian Judaism, however, the use of God and his word is perceived differently in
each passage. There is emphasis on the transgressions of the people. Justin states that Christ bares, the
sins of many, and {they were} delivered for their transgression (Martyr, pg. 10) as well as an emphasis
on war and the reasons they

Schooling for All
One of the most debated arguments in the area of education has been the fight to make more single sex
schools available for students. Co ed schooling has been the standard for education that many children
enjoy being in. Many argue however that changing schools to be single sex is one of the best solutions
to upgrade the education for children. However, a school that provides single sex education is not
automatically a better school than a coeducational one. Thus, when seeing the whole picture, single
sex education is the same, if not worse than co education.
The enforcement of single sex education has many drawbacks, such as the increase of separation in
the relationships between genders. By keeping people of different sexes away from each other, the two
groups of people will slowly start to become unknown to each other when interactions between the
two genders are supposed to be a natural occurrence. Diane F. Halpern, a professor of psychology at
Claremont McKenna College along with a few other professor state that: Furthermore, a recent meta
analysis found support for the intergroup contact hypothesis that is, segregation of groups promotes
stereotyping and prejudice toward the other group, whereas intergroup contact reduces such
stereotyping and prejudice, among children, adolescents, and adults. (Halpern et al.167) According to
their research, by offering

Essay Skylock in Shakespeare´s Merchant of Venice Villian
One of the earliest idioms taught to students of all ages is Don t judge a book by its cover. Oftentimes,
a quote like that can easily be disregarded, however, it is applicable to people who aren t always who
they seem to be. Shakespeare s play the Merchant of Venice is an outstanding work that contains a
very strange villain in Shylock, who is hated by all, although he has not wronged them in the past.
Thusly, his habits and personality evolved from his interactions with the Venetian populous. By
examining the changes Shylock displays in tone, Shylock the villain s motivations can be seen and
ultimately display that no matter how twisted a person is or may seem, the motivations behind their
actions indicate that innately they have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This correlates almost directly to how most of the other major characters of Merchant of Venice also
treat him (e.g. Antonio). However, as is with most cases, there are two sides to each story. To
understand the motivation behind Shylock s obsession with money, the beginning of the play has to be
referenced. In Shylock s negotiations with Bassanio and Antonio, Shylock recalls, Signior Antonio,
many a time and oft in the Rialto you have rated me about my moneys and my usances... You call me
misbeliever, cutthroat dog and spet upon my Jewish gabardine... You called me dog; and for these
courtesies I ll lend you thus much moneys? (1.3.104 126). From this passage, Shylock s motivations
are presented clearly. He loathes Antonio for how poorly he has treated him in the past, insulting both
his character and his religion. Therefore, the motivating factor in lending money to Bassanio is so
Shylock has the ability to hold some form of power over Antonio. Therein lies the key to Shylock s
obsession with wealth. In the referenced Venetian culture, Jewish people were persecuted for their
religion and were branded unsavory by the predominantly Christian community. Shylock, being
ridiculed and domineered his whole life by his Christian counterparts, saw an opportunity to finally
even the odds and jumped at it. Shylock clings onto his wealth because it is the only thing that gives
him power in Venetian

Dna Replication And Its Effect On The Development Of...
Introduction:
DNA replication is one of the fundamental processes involved with the central dogma and is
instrumental in the development of mutations, alternations and others changes that allow the process
of evolution to operate and proceed leading to the biodiversity. In the process proposed by Watson and
Crick (1953), the double helix unwinds to expose the bases in each strand of the DNA , where each of
the two separate strands act as the template or molecular mould for the synthesis of a new molecule of
DNA . As it is well known that the process of replication allows for the complementary base formation
among the template strand and the newly synthesized DNA strand .this mechanism of complementary
base pairing has resulted in the semi conservative mode of replication of the DNA molecule
(Pray,2008).
Stages of replication: The molecular mechanism of the process of replication is directed towards the
fidelity of the DNA molecule. Along with numerous interacting enzymes and other molecules working
in split second accuracy and timing to synthesize, proof read, repair and eventually produce a newly
synthesized strand of DNA with error s at the rate of one per 100 million nucleotides (Alberts et al.,
2002). The fundamental process of replication can be considered in three phases initiation, elongation
and termination.

and non pharmacy personnel. Officer Hartshorn also suggested placing tape on doorways to help
determine the height of a robber as well as limiting the stock of controlled substances or to have
controlled substances in a locked safe, or otherwise hard to get to location.2 Time is a robber s worst
enemy so implementing ways to slow down the process may make the robber abort the robbery.
According to John Partridge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, another suggestion is to have

If the robber is not wearing a mask, Officer Hartshorn shared that taking note of the robber s face can
be very useful in an investigation.2 However, other schools of thought on this matter state that it is
better to take a submissive stance, not to look the perpetrator in the eye (i.e., don t stare) and keep eyes
down so the robber will not think s/he can be identified, which could make the situation become
deadly. Using downward directed and peripheral vision to see clothing, shoes, tattoos, a weapon, and
as much of the robber as possible is less likely to escalate the event.7 Some pharmacies have a no
escalation policy, encouraging employees to not do anything that would anger the robber and perhaps
make the situation more dangerous than it already is. In doing so, an employee should be cooperative
and remain calm.7 Officer Hartshorn states that if the robber says s/he has a gun, assume that to be
true.2 Pharmacy employees should not get an attitude, try to be a hero,

Greek Wine History
Wine continues to be a staple in society, displayed in its prominent impact on culture and religion. It
has paved the way for growth in both politics and philosophy; its involvement in trade allowed the
spread of Greek ideas to reach many civilizations. Wine s effect throughout human history is
undeniable as it connected people from all over the world through trade and commerce. While it s true
origins are lost and only recorded in myth and legend , it is believed that its first production was in the
Neolithic period, between 9000 and 4000 BC (Standage 47). Wild grape vine, cereal crops, and the
invention of pottery lead to wine production in areas of modern day Armenia and northern Iran.
Reddish residue found inside a jar from a Neolithic village in the Zagros Mountains is the earliest
physical evidence for wine (47). Wine s possible origin in this region is mirrored in the story of Noah.

From its historical birthplace, it continued to spread to the west (Greece) and south through the
Levant. One of Egypt s early ruler, King Scorpion was buried with seven hundred jars of wine

signifying the rapid growth of wine production. The Pharaohs established their own vineyards in the
Nile Delta and the beginning of limited domestic production was starting to kickoff, but in
Mesopotamia, wine consumption remained only to the elite. Wine was not listed in ration tables for
lower class members. The masses in both Egypt and eastern Mediterranean areas were still drinking
beer, which made access to wine a mark of status (48). Wine became a symbol of status. As it began to
gain popularity throughout the Near East and the eastern Mediterranean, wine was viewed as both a
social and religion drink (49). Wine production increased and it became associated with other
desirable offerings such as gold, silver,

The Blind Side( Michael Oher)
Michael Oher is an immense human being. At the age of sixteen, he had a 20 inch neck, 50 inch waist,
and a 58 inch chest. Larger measurements, that is, than every single member of the Washington
Redskins. This fact alone meant that his final years in high school, Oher was the focus of attention of
college coaches across America grown men taking detours of hundreds of miles to watch him practice,
in the hope of persuading him to play for their team. Had these coaches the power to design a
prototypical left tackle, Oher s six foot five, 330 pound frame would have been pretty close to their
model. And yet the fact that he was even still at high school was, in itself, nothing short of a miracle.
The focal point of Michael Lewis s The Blind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The condition of his being accepted by his high school was greater academic achievement; unless his
grade point average reaches a certain level, he won t be allowed to go to college no matter how many
coaches are desperate for him to play.
The subject of the relationship between high school sports and educational achievement has been
covered before. Buzz Bissinger s Friday Night Lights , which has since been the inspiration for a
movie and a TV series, followed a high school team in Texas for a season. Far from the saccharine,
wholesome version of schooldays that we are accustomed to, Bissinger painted an unhappy and
controversial portrait of a white community interested in black children only so far as they could help
compete for the state championship; a school with $5,000 for the English department but $70,000 for
travel to away matches; allegations of pain killers being used illegally to get injured teenagers playing
as soon as possible. Such was the controversy the book caused that Bissinger, who had spent a year in
the town, didn t return until 20 years later.
The Blind Side has a more uplifting tale at its heart. Yet this does not stop it from being an unsettling
story. The Tuohys are accused of taking Michael into their lives solely to ensure that he can

Insanity In Hamlet Essay
Questioning the Sanity of Hamlet In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet s sanity is questionable
throughout the play. Insanity is defined as the unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand
(Merriam Webster). In the play, Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, is murdered by Claudius, Hamlet s
uncle, in secrecy. To make matter s worse, Claudius then continues on to get married in an inscetuous
relationship with Hamlet s mother, the queen. Emotions are heightened when Hamlet then see s a
ghost that claim s to be King Hamlet. The Ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius is the murderer and that
Hamlet must seek revenge for his father s death. In order to protect himself of being accused for
treason, Hamlet decides he will act insane as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet displays intelligence in the pursuit of avenging his father s death.
Hamlet again displays critical thinking when he does not blindly kill but first proves to himself that
Claudius is, in fact, guilty. To do this, Hamlet requests a player to perform a play that Hamlet had
edited to mimic King Hamlet s murder. If Claudius do blench, I know my course (Shakespeare,
II.ii.626 627), the course being murdering Claudius. By having a reaction to the play, Claudius is
inadvertently admitting to Hamlet that he is guilty of murder. Some think that this is not enough
evidence to commit treason, however, later in the play the readers learn that Claudius admits to
murder in the secrecy of the church; my offense is rank, it smells to the heavens; It hath the primal
eldest curse upon t, A brother s murder (Shakespeare, III.iii.40 42). By admitting his guilt it is know
Hamlet is not insane, rather is justified in his pursuit of revenge. It is near impossible for Hamlet to
prove Claudius guilty, and the play is the best way he can. It is irrefutable that the play is better than
nothing, and this is a clear exhibit of critical thinking a quality insane people cannot posses.
During the second appearance of the ghost, Hamlet is the only one who can see it. Many argue this is
a sign the ghost is false, and Hamlet is crazy because he can see it. While having a conversation with
his mother, Queen Gertrude, Hamlet sees the ghost and converses with

increase in globalization and outsourcing ongoing technological changes, demand that business
leaders should consider the impact of social media on all aspect of their organisations. The recent

Literature Review
Most literatures places so much focus on the entrepreneur as an individual, framing the entrepreneur
as an individual or actor while losing sight of the social dimension where their businesses operate. the
misrepresentation of entrepreneurship as a solitary practice remain prevalent among literature from
scholars in spite of data showing that many businesses would never have formed without the support
of one or more social networks (West 2001).
A social network is not just about posting vacation photos. In this age, social media has become a very
important platform that entrepreneurs can no longer ignore. Many entrepreneurs are so reluctant in
using this platform because they lack the necessary information. When properly used, social media
can help grow a business to a new level of success.

losses were $1.6 billion in a fund set up to maximize profits through a speculative investment strategy
(high yield, interest sensitive and highly leveraged securities) (Saskal, 2005). During a time of low
interest rates the investment strategy was returning a great investment; however, when interest rates
began the upward rise, the fund began losing money and ultimately was not able to cover loan
payments. This led to the county to file for bankruptcy. This paper will discuss some of the

Generally, municipalities will issue pensions bonds to cover liabilities set for employee pension plans.
While Orange County approved benefit enhancements that lowered retirement age and increased
benefits, thus increasing the pension liabilities in 2003, the advisory committee set up after the
bankruptcy did not immediately approve a corresponding pension bond at the time of the article s
writing. Refinancing Recovery bonds were issued in 1996 for Orange County. Saskal (2004) provides
the rates of the bonds were higher coupon bonds ranging from 5.6% with 2009 maturity to 5.8% with
2016 maturity and a 6.0% with 2026 maturity. According to the article, repayment of the loans was to
become a priority, however, due to legal/tax issues; the method of payment is still to be determined.
Conclusion The bankruptcy of Orange County, the high economic county of California, took a lot of
people by surprise. The ratings of the bonds were low risk investment grade, yet because of a highly
risky investment strategy and increasing interest rates, the bottom fell out and the option Orange
County followed was bankruptcy. For investors that stayed with Orange County through restructuring
and after emerging from bankruptcy, they were rewarded with full principal payments, and past due
interest. The county also started an advisory committee to prevent future

Edward Kennedy Ellington Research Paper
Great American Composers
Over the course of history, the arts have played an important role in aspects of people s lives. More
specifically, music is something that has been around for centuries and will continue to play a part in
shaping people into who they are. There have been numerous talented composers in America, but
some worth mentioning are Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.
Though music has been around for generations, during the 1900 s, Duke Ellington was a famous
composer in the Americas. Edward Kennedy Ellington was born on April 29, 1899 in Washington
D.C. to a religious family; his mother was a Baptist and his father was a Methodist ( Duke, n.d.).

music until he died from lung cancer in May of 1974. He will always be remembered for the daring
innovations that came to mark his music the strange modulations (changing from one key to another)
built upon lush melodies that ramble into unexpected places, the unorthodox (untraditional)
construction of songs.... ( Duke, n.d.).
Not only was Duke Ellington well known for his involvement in jazz during the 1900 s, George
Gershwin was also popular during that time. Gershwin was born in Brooklyn in 1898 to a family of
immigrants. He left school at the age of 15 in order to work as a song plugger (a pianist that
demonstrated songs) on Tin Pan Alley (Hingley, 2013). He soon began to write his own pieces, and his

Arnold Schwarzenenegger As A Hero
Not everyone is privileged with a god given talent, intelligence, or strength. In fact, many successful
people who achieve amazing dreams start from nearly nothing and depend solely on their
determination to reach their goals. Those people are outliers. Arnold Schwarzenegger is one such
person because he was born unquestionably small and was rejected as a child by his family, yet he
earned incredible achievements. Arnold Schwarzenegger s unending desire and tireless determination
allowed him to find a way to America and become an actor. Arnold reached his dream through
bodybuilding, becoming one of the most famous bodybuilders to ever compete and the reason
bodybuilding became so popular in the United States. Once he conquered the bodybuilding arena, he
was able to break into acting. Arnold s imposing and muscular stature meant he was the perfect
candidate for roles in action movies and he became one of the the most well known and popular action
stars on the big screen.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Styria, Austria on July 30th, 1947. He lived with his
mother, Aurelia Jadrny, his father Gustav, and his older brother Meinhard. Arnold and his brother were
raised under strict guidance by their father, who was the town s police chief, a one time member in the
Nazi Party, and an alcoholic. Needless to say, he was an angry, intimidating and demanding man. He
also had expectations of what it meant to be a man, and Arnold did not meet them. Arnold was small

Difference between Community Service and Volunteering
Volunteers are not paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless. Sherry
Anderson (Volunteering Quotes: Finest Quotes).
On average, when people think about community service, they assume that volunteering is just hours
we need to be able to graduate and that is it. Community service is more than just hours; community
service is based on the acts performed by someone with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to
his or her community. People frequently compare community service as a punishment since it is often
offered to small time offenders as an alternative to fines or jail time. However, community service is

Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend through
the eyes of government and social agencies (Everything you ever wanted to know about volunteering).
Discussing about volunteering to teenagers should be the first step for a better life, since teenagers are
the future of tomorrow and they will leave a mark from yesterday. Volunteering has been such an
important matter, that schools in many countries around the world established that 12th grade students
will need certain hours of community service in order to graduate. But the frequent answers all the
schools are getting are Why do I need to volunteer? I have better things to do! What people are
forgetting is that each one of them is part of a community, a community that is not perfect and that the
government sometimes forgets about their problems or needs, because obviously the government
needs to take care of other things that require more attention. People are not only helping others, they
are also helping themselves (Volunteering). Volunteering is not a new subject now, but people did not
perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming more and more popular since
each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early 19th century since America was
experimenting with the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was a period in which
the importance of the church was slowly dying and instead the

Gene And Betty Hoot Case Summary
The Burger King of Florida v. Gene and Betty Hoots of Matoon, IL. Case
The Hoots had remodeled a parking garage and turned it into a restaurant specializing in hamburgers,
calling it, Burger King. They registered Burger King with the state of Illinois as a trademark, only to
learn later that Burger King was a federally registered trademark of Burger King of Florida. Unable to
reach an agreement, the case went to federal court.
In a highly anticipated decision, the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that since Burger King
of Florida had a federal registration, they had rights to the trademark anywhere in the United States
except the area of Mattoon, where the Hoots had maintained previous authentic use. Therefore, the

After plaintiffs opened a restaurant in Champaign, Illinois, defendants sued in the state court to
restrain plaintiffs use of the mark in Illinois. Plaintiffs then brought the federal suit, now before us,
and the defendants counter claimed for an injunction, charging plaintiffs with infringement of their
Illinois trade mark.
The district court found that Burger King s property right in the trademark was superior to Hoots s
because of the natural expansion of Burger King s business throughout Illinois but that Hoots still had
the right to use its trademark in the area in which it first adopted it innocently without notice of Burger
King s competing trademark. Hoots appealed.
The district court concluded, from the unchallenged findings, that plaintiffs federal registration is
prima facie evidence of the validity of the registration and ownership of the mark; that plaintiffs have
both a common law and a federal right in the mark superior to defendants in the area of natural
expansion of plaintiffs enterprise which logically included all of Illinois, except where defendants had
actually adopted and used the mark, innocently, i. e., without notice and in good faith; and that the
defendants had adopted and continuously used the mark in the Mattoon area innocently and were

Examples Of Trust In The Odyssey
Trust is something that cannot be measured but rather it can be shown by action. In the story of
Odysseus, Odysseus has been changing in the course of the story, beginning of the story he didn t trust
his men and as the story progress he started to trust the people around him. In beginning of the story,
Odysseus doesn t trust his men and thought what he was doing was right. When they landed on the
island of Aiolia, which was ruled by the god of the winds, Aiolos. After staying there for month when
they were about to leave Aiolos gives them a bag of winds , which Odysseus keep and doesn t give his
men to take a look at so they start sailing back. As they are sailing back Odysseus falls sleep and as

This shows that Odysseus thought he was very smart and he knew what he was doing so he didn t tell
his men so which result him to go backward and all of the sailing time was wasted. And if Odysseus
told his men that he got bag of gift and don t open then there wouldn t be this much of trouble.
Sometimes you have to trust the people around otherwise you will fail in that situation and maybe
even in life. If we don t trust others then how others going to trust us. Another example from the story
is when they are at the island of the Lotus eaters. There Odysseus sends three of his men to see if they
find something on the island that can be valuable. And they wouldn t want to leave so he told the rest
of his men that if you taste the lotus then you will lose hope for going home (Homer 8). This shows
that Odysseus knew that the three men wanted to stay but he forced them to leave because he knew or
thought that since he wanted to go home then

the Navajo were considered indispensable for the rapid transmission of classified dispatches (Paul,
69). Besides transmitting vital information, the Code Talkers sometimes transmitted dummy messages
(Takaki, 52). These false messages drove the enemy crazy, trying to decipher them, but getting
nowhere (Takaki, 52). Meadows even puts forth the idea that if the Navajo and Comanche Indian
communication units had been expanded, the war may have even been shortened (Meadows,
Comanche , 50). As stated by Campbell, In the year 2000, Federal legislation was enacted to award
Congressional Gold Medals to the Navajo code talkers for their contribution to America s victory over
the Japanese Empire in World War II (qtd. in Hearing ). According to Tim Johnson, There is no doubt
that the bravery and the courage of the Navajo code talkers helped to make the United States the free

The Literature On Pay For Play
A Review of the Literature on Pay for Play in College Athletics by Sara J. Singleton
EDU 7253 Legal Environment of Higher Education
May 28, 2015
Abstract
Because of recent court cases such as O Bannon v. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA),
the issue of whether intercollegiate student athletes should be compensated for their athletic
appearances on behalf of colleges has been featured in the news and been the subject of much
scholarly writing. This literature review will focus on the major themes discussed in peer reviewed
journals and law reviews as well as the main judicial opinions on this issue to this point. As colleges
and the NCAA continue to battle over the appropriate role of profit and amateurism ... Show more

Other themes that are pro compensation include redefining amateurism and worker s compensation
and liability issues. The fourth stream of literature focuses on various reasons that intercollegiate
athletes should not be paid to play, mostly viewpoints that consider the use of the Sherman Act within
intercollegiate athletics to be judicial overreach.
The Sherman Antitrust Act
Section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust Act, in part, states that every contract, combination... or conspiracy,
in the restraint of trade or commerce... is declared to be illegal. (Sherman Act, 2006). This law
provides a comprehensive charter of economic liberty aimed at preserving free and unfettered
competition as the rule of trade (Northern Pacific Railway Company vs. United States, 1958; Reiter
vs. Sonotone Corporation, 1979). It relies on a fundamental belief in supply and demand (Baum
Research Development Company vs. Hillerich Bradsby, 1998). There are two main ways by which a
plaintiff could challenge the NCAA s no pay rules under Section 1 of the Sherman Act. First, the
plaintiff could argue that the no pay regulations signify a type of wage fixing that damages not only
the market for the student athletes skills but also the value of college sports as a whole. Second, the
plaintiff could argue that the NCAA rules create an unlawful group prohibition of those

Task 1.2 Properties (Part of P1)
Describe the properties of . . . and. Radiation. Things should be including:
Their range in air
What they are stopped by
Their penetrating and ionising powers
How they are affected by electrical and magnetic fields.
How they are commonly detected.
Any other properties.
Alpha, beta and gamma come from nuclear of an atom and they called radioactive, because it gives off
radiation. These radiations absorb by different thickness of materials such as: Alpha radiation only

Beta radiation is an electron with the charge of 1. Its atomic number is 1 and atomic mass is 0. It is
more penetrating than alpha radiation plus, has a less ionising power than alpha. It absorbed by thin
aluminium sheet and used to control the thickness of different material such as thickness of the paper,
plastic and aluminium. They use a detector to check if there is more or less particle being released or
absorb. If the material is thicker then it need to the material will start to absorb the particle however if
the material is too thin more beta particle will start to pass through, that s how they finds out the
thickness of the material. It is not very dangerous if it goes into our body because it usually get
through the body, however it is very dangerous if it outside the body because it can penetrate the skin
and cause damage to human cells. It is deflected by electrical and magnetic field because it has
negative charge as I said positive and negative attract to each other.
Gamma radiation has 0 charges and 0 atomic mass and atomic number. It has a very high penetrating
power than alpha and beta because it does not stop for many centimetres. The ionising power of
gamma radiation is very low according to alpha and beta radiation. It is used to treat cancer and testing
equipment; however it can be very dangerous for human health if it comes in contact with

Teach For America
Teach For America
Since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005, 4,500 public school teachers were fired in the
city. The storm is the cause of this city s struggling public school system. Also, the public school
population has dropped dramatically. In 2010, studies found 4,000 teens, which is about 10 percent of
the city s student population not even enrolled in school (Vanacore 1). The city has fired 7,500
unionized teachers and other school employees, predominately African
American women (Shaw 1). The storm played a huge role in the loss of so many teachers, which lead

The Issues Of The Lgbt Community
Abstract Research has proven that people are able to make judgements with a fair amount of accuracy.
These perceptions are drawn from cultural stereotypes that lead to categorization of others into social
categories. The LGBT community has been a subject of interest over the past 25 30 years. Research
has been dedicated into searching for the neurological, biological and social correlates associated with
this community. The main focus of the research has been on the ability to identify people who are gay.
The term gaydar has been coined by different researchers in the field and it relates to the ability to
perceive another individual who is gay. However, the research involved has been strictly tied to
psychology and as a result its implications are subjective in nature. The current work utilized event
related potentials to measure the cognitive processes associated with making the determination of one
s sexual orientation. 21 heterosexual and homosexual male participants had electrodes placed on their
scalp to measure their brain activity in response to 120 pictures of gay or straight men. Results found
that homosexual males exerted more effort when processing the faces of the targets.
Sexual Orientation Perception
Kirkpatrick (2000) contends that homosexuality has been an element of the human experience from
the outset. There has been a considerable amount of research attempting to identify the correlates
associated with homosexual behavior. Most data

C. S. Lewis Symbolism, Development and Morality in The Chronicles of Narnia In all novels,
symbolism is a key element that authors use to heighten the literary merit of their writing. In The
Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis uses symbolism as a driving force throughout the series. Without the
use of likeliness of Christian figures, Lewis series would lack deep literary meaning. The wide variety
of symbols and literary devices used in these books successfully evoke deep thought and inspires
readers to analyze the work further. Lewis uses many different forms of symbolism throughout The
Chronicles of Narnia. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, there is a character named Aslan.

The White Witch uses an eternal winter to impose her will on the Narnians. Her favorite way of
striking fear into the souls of the creatures around her is by turning them to stone. Turning people to
stone is the White Witch s forté, and stone, like ice, is a state of being frozen (Patterson). The White
Witch mercilessly turns any creature that goes against her to stone, as described in this scene:
Then she raised her wand. Oh, don t, don t, please don t, shouted Edmund, but even while he was
shouting she had waved her wand and instantly where the merry party had been there were only
statues of creatures (one with its stone fork fixed forever half way to its stone mouth) seated round a
stone table on which there were stone plates and a stone plum pudding (Lewis, 65).
Aslan is the only source of salvation these poor individuals have. His powers successfully juxtapose
the White Witches. Lewis describes Aslan s abilities in this passage:
For a second after Aslan had breathed upon him the stone lion looked just the same. Then a tiny streak
of gold began to run along his white marble back then it spread then the colour seemed to lick all over
him as the flame licks all over a bit of paper then, while his hindquarters were still obviously stone,
the lion shook his mane and

Interview With John Nash
After spending a week with John Nash, I may have stumbled upon a central purpose of my life. Well,
not nobel Laureate John nash himself, but whenever I describe Fred, their characteristics seem quite
parallel. Fred is unique, possessing an indomitable spirit to fulfill his dreams without fear of failure.
not only is he the most brilliant young man I have ever met, he exhibits a genuinely compassionate
heart. Sadly, many people may never recognize Fred as the beautiful individual that he is, or what he
has to offer. While our society may call him chal lenged, I have come to recognize him as an
unexpected role model. For Fred, you see, is autistic. He does not interact well with people, and is
often unable to express his thoughts clearly or articulately. He doesn t understand why people laugh at

Essay On Paul In Bloor s Coming To Tangerine
Coming to Tangerine Middle was quite the ride for Paul. Paul was able to see how the Tangerine
students are really like to compare to the dirty image that they have on them. First of all, transferring
to this school has made Paul develop confidence in himself to speak the truth, which builds up a
strong relationship with his teammates. Yet Paul still can t get over his main fear, Erik. Although it
may look like Paul grew an enormous amount, mentally in the novel, he still has a long way to go in
order to face Erik. At the end of Part 2, Edward Bloor expresses Paul s growth, emotionally in a strong
way. Paul has constructed more self confidence to speak the truth compared to his antecedent self.
When Paul first meets Tino, Victor and Hernando, on page 108 he states My stomach started to knot
again. This reveals that Paul is obviously terrified of them because he s the reason for their
suspension. In Paul s mind, if he tells the truth they will tear him apart in millions of pieces, which
makes Paul refuse to speak the truth. Later, Paul finally had the courage to admit that he was the one
who ratted them out, however Tino reacted surprisingly calm about it. Paul realizes that they are
actually really great people, once you get to know them. After Paul took the truth off of his chest, their

Currently, there are 678 sitting district court judges who hear civil and criminal federal cases. The next
level of federal court is the U.S. Court of Appeals. The U.S. Court of Appeals has 13 Appellate

Federal Judiciary, n.d.). The Appellate Courts consist of 179 appellate court judges who are spread

How Did Atoms From The Universe End Up Being In Hubble s...
From Bang to Brain Lachlan Hall
Let s go back in time, about eighty years from now. A young astronomer named Edwin Hubble had
contributed to a theory that would explain the origins of the universe. He discovered that atoms were
in everything, including his brain. This article is to discover how exactly did atoms from the universe
end up being in Hubble s brain? So let s find out how we got From Bang to Brain .
Let s start with the Big Bang Theory . In 1927 the big bang theory was proposed by Georges Lemaitre.
But was significantly created by our old friend Edwin Hubble. Edwin Hubble lived from 1889 1953
and in this time he did great things such as contribute significantly to the creation of the big bang

Cosmic background radiation is radiation from the early development of the universe. After the big
bang the universe was smaller and much hotter than it is now and was filled with a fog of hydrogen
plasma. Eventually the universe started expanding and became cooler. As it cooled stable atoms
started forming, leaving only CMB remained so it is a strong evidence that the Big Bang Theory was
correct. Scientist thought if the big bang actually happened then there would have to be cosmic
background radiation left over, so all they had to do is find evidence of this and they did so this gave
the big bang theory evidence to support their claim.
Another way to support the Big Bang Theory is to look at the stars. According to the Big Bang Theory
the universe is forever changing and expanding and looking up at the stars just proves this. If you look
up at the stars we only see the stars that their light has reached us meaning these stars are only new, so
if we don t so some stars the light hasn t reached us yet. As we know light travels in light years which
takes well years, so if we can t see their light it hasn t reached us so it is light years away. This shows
us that it has grown and changed supporting the

It is also possible that plaintiff lawyers simply do not yet fully understand the legal requirements of
the ADA. To the extent that cases lose because of the distinctive features of the ADA like the
reasonable accommodation requirement and the definition of disability. My analysis of appellate
decisions under the ADA suggests that defendants are much more likely than plaintiffs to prevail in
appellate litigation are .
In a summary judgment case, a person with a qualifying disability is the first step, along with the
threshold step for plaintiffs in making the prima facie case of discrimination requisite. There are two
elements of the plaintiff s prima facie case (in the absence of direct evidence of discrimination) are
that the plaintiff was qualified for the position, with or without accommodations, and that the plaintiff
experienced the adverse action as a result of disability . It is also, found that the elements of the prima

disputed claims about the facts.
In the empirical study by Beford in 2013 , one assumption is that the ADAAA will result in fewer

disability. This study examines all reported federal court summary judgment decisions arising under

Example Of Intertextuality In Literature
Reality, as people often point out, is an ongoing, live soap opera in which the cast and roles depend on
perspective and the storyline on history. Literature, on the other hand, boasts a world of magic and
possibility. It exists as an interactive universe where a story can go in one direction and a thousand
directions all at once. Such a world is made possible by Intertextuality, the use of old, malleable
literature to create new literature by either alluding to the former to bring to light a revelatory hidden
message or exploring the consequences of a twist on a classic. William Golding s Lord of The Flies,
Stephanie Meyer s The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and ABC Family s Once Upon A Time are a
few examples of works that have helped me gain a better understanding of Intertextuality and the
effect of its use. Intertextuality allows works and their essences to remain timeless. Whereas a classic
is restricted to the words included on the pages, newer books have the freedom to expand the life
altering concepts presented in these classics and make them relevant to ... Show more content on

Intertextuality, reinvents the common understanding of Fairytale Land and the essence of each
intertwined story but maintains each character s basic, recognizable identity. In fact, one of the
episodes is an adaptation of the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk in which Jack is actually female, and
climbs up the stalk with an army to murder the giants but ultimately dies of blood loss. This deviation

Growing Up Explored in Banana Yoshimoto s Kitchen
The first time I read Kitchen, I knew I was experiencing something very special. Not since my initial
reading of Catcher in the Rye have I witnessed such a perceptive look at the joys and pains of growing
up. These coming of age novels capture our attention with plots that, while twisting and turning in
creative, off beat ways, remain believable. The writers of these novels tell us their stories with a subtle
style more exciting than that of textbooks and assigned reading, a style not unlike a good one sided
conversation. Finally, within this great style of writing, the authors infuse honest insights, often
humorous and sometimes poignant, which do not carry a lecturing or ... Show more content on

Guess what else she s a man. He could barely contain his amusement. This was too much. I just stared
at him in wide eyed silence. I expected any second he would say, Just kidding. Those tapered fingers,
those mannerisms, the way she carried herself... I held my breath remembering that beautiful face; he,
on the other hand, was enjoying this (p. 13).
Later, when Mikage recounts the time Eriko shared with her the importance of a particular pineapple
plant, eyebrows may be raised as the words In this world, tonight, only the pineapple and I understand
each other are read. (p. 81) As strange as they sound out of context now, these words are actually
moving when you have already learned the meaning Eriko placed on the plant. Yoshimoto arranges
unique scenarios such as these in expressive ways that, in the hands of less talented authors, would
otherwise appear simply ridiculous. She touches young adults because she is able to bring realism to
these strange stories.
Once the reader has accepted her unique storyline, he is drawn to her subtle writing style. There is no
doubt that Yoshimoto is proficient at setting the scene. Chilled looking people walking along the

Reflection On Group Presentation
In the group presentation, my group and I presented on the issue of isms. This included focus on
sexism, ageism, and racism. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which
made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the
presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the audience on what exactly each ism
is, discuss where each one is found, and how the are influenced in today s society. From the start of
the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of
communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it
seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group
name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. As time went on our group started to get our stuff
together. With that said if we all began brainstorming and set up some procedural needs from the start,
the group would of been on the same page and maybe some wouldn t have waited until the last
moment. I was thankful for Jonathan for stepping up and helping the group get started with an outline
and focusing on a question of policy along with answering any other questions that arose during the
presentation process. Once the deadline got closer however is when we communicated the most.
Sounds logical but my hope was that we all have most of the work done prior than the day before it

A third backbone was just passed in 2010 called Obamacare, or Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act (2015). The Obamacare act is for residents who could not afford insurance or were rejected by pre

With every system there are always pro and cons that come with how the system works and who is
affected or helps the most. According to the article by Athar, some of the pros that were discussed
about the US healthcare system were repeals individual mandate, reduces the federal deficit in the
long run, no discrimination against people with pre existing conditions (Athar, 2017). I agree that
repeals individual mandate is a pro since it requires all individuals to purchase health insurance

with is no discrimination against people with pre existing conditions. This means that nobody can be

Consequently, with every pro there are con s. Some con s that are stated in the article by Athar are:

  • 2. Comparing Trypho And Augustine s City Of God I found the Dialogue with Trypho quite true to the modern views of Christianity. Similarly, the works of God is also present in Augustine s City of God. We can see that, according to these readings, there is, obviously, one true God in the Christian faith, who, always maintains the same nature, and in the same manner, and is the cause of all other things that, indeed, is God (Martyr, pg. 2). Both authors denounce post Christian Judaism, however, the use of God and his word is perceived differently in each passage. There is emphasis on the transgressions of the people. Justin states that Christ bares, the sins of many, and {they were} delivered for their transgression (Martyr, pg. 10) as well as an emphasis on war and the reasons they ... • 3. Schooling for All One of the most debated arguments in the area of education has been the fight to make more single sex schools available for students. Co ed schooling has been the standard for education that many children enjoy being in. Many argue however that changing schools to be single sex is one of the best solutions to upgrade the education for children. However, a school that provides single sex education is not automatically a better school than a coeducational one. Thus, when seeing the whole picture, single sex education is the same, if not worse than co education. The enforcement of single sex education has many drawbacks, such as the increase of separation in the relationships between genders. By keeping people of different sexes away from each other, the two groups of people will slowly start to become unknown to each other when interactions between the two genders are supposed to be a natural occurrence. Diane F. Halpern, a professor of psychology at Claremont McKenna College along with a few other professor state that: Furthermore, a recent meta analysis found support for the intergroup contact hypothesis that is, segregation of groups promotes stereotyping and prejudice toward the other group, whereas intergroup contact reduces such stereotyping and prejudice, among children, adolescents, and adults. (Halpern et al.167) According to their research, by offering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay Skylock in Shakespeare´s Merchant of Venice Villian One of the earliest idioms taught to students of all ages is Don t judge a book by its cover. Oftentimes, a quote like that can easily be disregarded, however, it is applicable to people who aren t always who they seem to be. Shakespeare s play the Merchant of Venice is an outstanding work that contains a very strange villain in Shylock, who is hated by all, although he has not wronged them in the past. Thusly, his habits and personality evolved from his interactions with the Venetian populous. By examining the changes Shylock displays in tone, Shylock the villain s motivations can be seen and ultimately display that no matter how twisted a person is or may seem, the motivations behind their actions indicate that innately they have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This correlates almost directly to how most of the other major characters of Merchant of Venice also treat him (e.g. Antonio). However, as is with most cases, there are two sides to each story. To understand the motivation behind Shylock s obsession with money, the beginning of the play has to be referenced. In Shylock s negotiations with Bassanio and Antonio, Shylock recalls, Signior Antonio, many a time and oft in the Rialto you have rated me about my moneys and my usances... You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog and spet upon my Jewish gabardine... You called me dog; and for these courtesies I ll lend you thus much moneys? (1.3.104 126). From this passage, Shylock s motivations are presented clearly. He loathes Antonio for how poorly he has treated him in the past, insulting both his character and his religion. Therefore, the motivating factor in lending money to Bassanio is so Shylock has the ability to hold some form of power over Antonio. Therein lies the key to Shylock s obsession with wealth. In the referenced Venetian culture, Jewish people were persecuted for their religion and were branded unsavory by the predominantly Christian community. Shylock, being ridiculed and domineered his whole life by his Christian counterparts, saw an opportunity to finally even the odds and jumped at it. Shylock clings onto his wealth because it is the only thing that gives him power in Venetian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dna Replication And Its Effect On The Development Of... Introduction: DNA replication is one of the fundamental processes involved with the central dogma and is instrumental in the development of mutations, alternations and others changes that allow the process of evolution to operate and proceed leading to the biodiversity. In the process proposed by Watson and Crick (1953), the double helix unwinds to expose the bases in each strand of the DNA , where each of the two separate strands act as the template or molecular mould for the synthesis of a new molecule of DNA . As it is well known that the process of replication allows for the complementary base formation among the template strand and the newly synthesized DNA strand .this mechanism of complementary base pairing has resulted in the semi conservative mode of replication of the DNA molecule (Pray,2008). Stages of replication: The molecular mechanism of the process of replication is directed towards the fidelity of the DNA molecule. Along with numerous interacting enzymes and other molecules working in split second accuracy and timing to synthesize, proof read, repair and eventually produce a newly synthesized strand of DNA with error s at the rate of one per 100 million nucleotides (Alberts et al., 2002). The fundamental process of replication can be considered in three phases initiation, elongation and termination. Fundamental requirements for DNA replication For the smooth and successful integration of the different molecule r events leading to the proper mechanism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Officer Hartshorn also suggested placing tape on doorways to help determine the height of a robber as well as limiting the stock of controlled substances or to have controlled substances in a locked safe, or otherwise hard to get to location.2 Time is a robber s worst enemy so implementing ways to slow down the process may make the robber abort the robbery. According to John Partridge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, another suggestion is to have communication with other pharmacies in the area and with local law enforcement in advance of any robbery or burglary incidents and to invite law enforcement to tour the pharmacy and offer recommendations on deterring theft.7 Also, make sure there is enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the robber is not wearing a mask, Officer Hartshorn shared that taking note of the robber s face can be very useful in an investigation.2 However, other schools of thought on this matter state that it is better to take a submissive stance, not to look the perpetrator in the eye (i.e., don t stare) and keep eyes down so the robber will not think s/he can be identified, which could make the situation become deadly. Using downward directed and peripheral vision to see clothing, shoes, tattoos, a weapon, and as much of the robber as possible is less likely to escalate the event.7 Some pharmacies have a no escalation policy, encouraging employees to not do anything that would anger the robber and perhaps make the situation more dangerous than it already is. In doing so, an employee should be cooperative and remain calm.7 Officer Hartshorn states that if the robber says s/he has a gun, assume that to be true.2 Pharmacy employees should not get an attitude, try to be a hero, ... • 7. Greek Wine History Wine continues to be a staple in society, displayed in its prominent impact on culture and religion. It has paved the way for growth in both politics and philosophy; its involvement in trade allowed the spread of Greek ideas to reach many civilizations. Wine s effect throughout human history is undeniable as it connected people from all over the world through trade and commerce. While it s true origins are lost and only recorded in myth and legend , it is believed that its first production was in the Neolithic period, between 9000 and 4000 BC (Standage 47). Wild grape vine, cereal crops, and the invention of pottery lead to wine production in areas of modern day Armenia and northern Iran. Reddish residue found inside a jar from a Neolithic village in the Zagros Mountains is the earliest physical evidence for wine (47). Wine s possible origin in this region is mirrored in the story of Noah. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From its historical birthplace, it continued to spread to the west (Greece) and south through the Levant. One of Egypt s early ruler, King Scorpion was buried with seven hundred jars of wine displaying the significance of wine in early Egyptian culture. It was transported at great expense, signifying the rapid growth of wine production. The Pharaohs established their own vineyards in the Nile Delta and the beginning of limited domestic production was starting to kickoff, but in Mesopotamia, wine consumption remained only to the elite. Wine was not listed in ration tables for lower class members. The masses in both Egypt and eastern Mediterranean areas were still drinking beer, which made access to wine a mark of status (48). Wine became a symbol of status. As it began to gain popularity throughout the Near East and the eastern Mediterranean, wine was viewed as both a social and religion drink (49). Wine production increased and it became associated with other desirable offerings such as gold, silver, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Blind Side( Michael Oher) Michael Oher is an immense human being. At the age of sixteen, he had a 20 inch neck, 50 inch waist, and a 58 inch chest. Larger measurements, that is, than every single member of the Washington Redskins. This fact alone meant that his final years in high school, Oher was the focus of attention of college coaches across America grown men taking detours of hundreds of miles to watch him practice, in the hope of persuading him to play for their team. Had these coaches the power to design a prototypical left tackle, Oher s six foot five, 330 pound frame would have been pretty close to their model. And yet the fact that he was even still at high school was, in itself, nothing short of a miracle. The focal point of Michael Lewis s The Blind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The condition of his being accepted by his high school was greater academic achievement; unless his grade point average reaches a certain level, he won t be allowed to go to college no matter how many coaches are desperate for him to play. Buzz Bissinger s Friday Night Lights , which has since been the inspiration for a movie and a TV series, followed a high school team in Texas for a season. Far from the saccharine, wholesome version of schooldays that we are accustomed to, Bissinger painted an unhappy and controversial portrait of a white community interested in black children only so far as they could help compete for the state championship; a school with $5,000 for the English department but $70,000 for travel to away matches; allegations of pain killers being used illegally to get injured teenagers playing as soon as possible. Such was the controversy the book caused that Bissinger, who had spent a year in the town, didn t return until 20 years later. The Blind Side has a more uplifting tale at its heart. Yet this does not stop it from being an unsettling story. The Tuohys are accused of taking Michael into their lives solely to ensure that he can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Insanity In Hamlet Essay Questioning the Sanity of Hamlet In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet s sanity is questionable throughout the play. Insanity is defined as the unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand (Merriam Webster). In the play, Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, is murdered by Claudius, Hamlet s uncle, in secrecy. To make matter s worse, Claudius then continues on to get married in an inscetuous relationship with Hamlet s mother, the queen. Hamlet displays intelligence in the pursuit of avenging his father s death. Hamlet again displays critical thinking when he does not blindly kill but first proves to himself that Claudius is, in fact, guilty. To do this, Hamlet requests a player to perform a play that Hamlet had edited to mimic King Hamlet s murder. If Claudius do blench, I know my course (Shakespeare, II.ii.626 627), the course being murdering Claudius. By having a reaction to the play, Claudius is inadvertently admitting to Hamlet that he is guilty of murder. Some think that this is not enough evidence to commit treason, however, later in the play the readers learn that Claudius admits to murder in the secrecy of the church; my offense is rank, it smells to the heavens; It hath the primal eldest curse upon t, A brother s murder (Shakespeare, III.iii.40 42). By admitting his guilt it is know Hamlet is not insane, rather is justified in his pursuit of revenge. It is near impossible for Hamlet to prove Claudius guilty, and the play is the best way he can. It is irrefutable that the play is better than nothing, and this is a clear exhibit of critical thinking a quality insane people cannot posses. During the second appearance of the ghost, Hamlet is the only one who can see it. Many argue this is a sign the ghost is false, and Hamlet is crazy because he can see it. Fred is unique, possessing an indomitable spirit to fulfill his dreams without fear of failure. not only is he the most brilliant young man I have ever met, he exhibits a genuinely compassionate heart. Sadly, many people may never recognize Fred as the beautiful individual that he is, or what he has to offer. While our society may call him chal lenged, I have come to recognize him as an unexpected role model. For Fred, you see, is autistic. He does not interact well with people, and is often unable to express his thoughts clearly or articulately. He doesn t understand why people laugh at him. Yet even so, Fred is blessed with an acute sense of purpose and ... Still, Fred s life revolved around his relationships and mathematics. Although he has few close friends, people are indescribably important to him, and he always treated them with sensitivity and compassion. Unfortunately, some people including but not limited to his peers (who can sometimes be quite cruel) are unable to set aside their prejudices long enough to see his unique ness as the incredible gift that it is. His enthusiasm and his indomitable spirit in the face of adversity taught me valuable lessons lessons I will carry with me for the rest of my life. He taught me to live for what you truly cherish, to be passionate about your dreams, and to always smile in both the service of others and adversity. He has shown me the truest meaning of love for others, and the ability to understand and always live for what is important. • 29. Essay On Paul In Bloor s Coming To Tangerine Coming to Tangerine Middle was quite the ride for Paul. Paul was able to see how the Tangerine students are really like to compare to the dirty image that they have on them. First of all, transferring to this school has made Paul develop confidence in himself to speak the truth, which builds up a strong relationship with his teammates. Yet Paul still can t get over his main fear, Erik. Although it may look like Paul grew an enormous amount, mentally in the novel, he still has a long way to go in order to face Erik. At the end of Part 2, Edward Bloor expresses Paul s growth, emotionally in a strong way. Paul has constructed more self confidence to speak the truth compared to his antecedent self. When Paul first meets Tino, Victor and Hernando, on page 108 he states My stomach started to knot again. This reveals that Paul is obviously terrified of them because he s the reason for their suspension. In Paul s mind, if he tells the truth they will tear him apart in millions of pieces, which makes Paul refuse to speak the truth. Later, Paul finally had the courage to admit that he was the one who ratted them out, however Tino reacted surprisingly calm about it. Paul realizes that they are actually really great people, once you get to know them. After Paul took the truth off of his chest, their relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federalist wanted a strong central government and antifederalist wanted more powerful state governments. Nevertheless, delegates from all of the states traveled to the Constitutional Convention and drafted the United States Constitution. Later, all delegates from the states ratified the U.S. Constitution. Under Article I, II, and III of the U. S. Currently, there are 678 sitting district court judges who hear civil and criminal federal cases. The next level of federal court is the U.S. Court of Appeals. The U.S. Court of Appeals has 13 Appellate circuits, 12 regional circuits and one federal circuit which has national jurisdiction (History of the Federal Judiciary, n.d.). The Appellate Courts consist of 179 appellate court judges who are spread over the United States and are assigned to review cases arising from particular states and federal district courts. The last level of the federal judicial is the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has 9 Supreme Court judges, and they hear cases on appeal from State Supreme Courts and the 13 Appellate courts. The federal courts deal with constitutional issues and violations of federal law; whereas, state courts have jurisdiction within their state and anything involving state laws. A good example the distinction between of state and federal courts is state law can be more stringent than federal law, but state law cannot be less lenient per se than federal law. • 31. How Did Atoms From The Universe End Up Being In Hubble s... From Bang to Brain Lachlan Hall Let s go back in time, about eighty years from now. A young astronomer named Edwin Hubble had contributed to a theory that would explain the origins of the universe. He discovered that atoms were in everything, including his brain. This article is to discover how exactly did atoms from the universe end up being in Hubble s brain? So let s find out how we got From Bang to Brain . Let s start with the Big Bang Theory . In 1927 the big bang theory was proposed by Georges Lemaitre. But was significantly created by our old friend Edwin Hubble. Edwin Hubble lived from 1889 1953 and in this time he did great things such as contribute significantly to the creation of the big bang theory and also was the developer of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cosmic background radiation is radiation from the early development of the universe. After the big bang the universe was smaller and much hotter than it is now and was filled with a fog of hydrogen plasma. Eventually the universe started expanding and became cooler. As it cooled stable atoms started forming, leaving only CMB remained so it is a strong evidence that the Big Bang Theory was correct. Scientist thought if the big bang actually happened then there would have to be cosmic background radiation left over, so all they had to do is find evidence of this and they did so this gave the big bang theory evidence to support their claim. Another way to support the Big Bang Theory is to look at the stars. According to the Big Bang Theory the universe is forever changing and expanding and looking up at the stars just proves this. If you look up at the stars we only see the stars that their light has reached us meaning these stars are only new, so if we don t so some stars the light hasn t reached us yet. As we know light travels in light years which takes well years, so if we can t see their light it hasn t reached us so it is light years away. This shows us that it has grown and changed supporting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, that the court doubted whether Congress, in its wildest dreams or wildest nightmares, intended to turn every garden variety worker s compensation claim into a federal case. Based on statistical data from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), from the time the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1992, enacted to FY 1996, 71,977 individuals had filed disability charges . My analysis of appellate decisions under the ADA suggests that defendants are much more likely than plaintiffs to prevail in appellate litigation are . In a summary judgment case, a person with a qualifying disability is the first step, along with the threshold step for plaintiffs in making the prima facie case of discrimination requisite. There are two elements of the plaintiff s prima facie case (in the absence of direct evidence of discrimination) are that the plaintiff was qualified for the position, with or without accommodations, and that the plaintiff experienced the adverse action as a result of disability . It is also, found that the elements of the prima facie case may be more difficult to dismiss on motions for summary judgment, as they likely involve disputed claims about the facts. In the empirical study by Beford in 2013 , one assumption is that the ADAAA will result in fewer summary judgment rulings finding that claimants lack standing as covered individuals with a disability. • 33. Example Of Intertextuality In Literature Reality, as people often point out, is an ongoing, live soap opera in which the cast and roles depend on perspective and the storyline on history. Literature, on the other hand, boasts a world of magic and possibility. It exists as an interactive universe where a story can go in one direction and a thousand directions all at once. Such a world is made possible by Intertextuality, the use of old, malleable literature to create new literature by either alluding to the former to bring to light a revelatory hidden message or exploring the consequences of a twist on a classic. William Golding s Lord of The Flies, Stephanie Meyer s The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and ABC Family s Once Upon A Time are a few examples of works that have helped me gain a better understanding of Intertextuality and the effect of its use. Intertextuality allows works and their essences to remain timeless. Whereas a classic is restricted to the words included on the pages, newer books have the freedom to expand the life altering concepts presented in these classics and make them relevant to ... The ABC Family s popular T.V. show, Once Upon A Time, portrays the story of a town called Storybrooke where fairytale characters are imprisoned without their memories from the enchanted forest but with one hope, the Savior, Emma Swan. As can be noticed, the show, using the principle of Intertextuality, reinvents the common understanding of Fairytale Land and the essence of each intertwined story but maintains each character s basic, recognizable identity. In fact, one of the episodes is an adaptation of the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk in which Jack is actually female, and climbs up the stalk with an army to murder the giants but ultimately dies of blood loss. Not since my initial reading of Catcher in the Rye have I witnessed such a perceptive look at the joys and pains of growing up. These coming of age novels capture our attention with plots that, while twisting and turning in creative, off beat ways, remain believable. The writers of these novels tell us their stories with a subtle style more exciting than that of textbooks and assigned reading, a style not unlike a good one sided conversation. Finally, within this great style of writing, the authors infuse honest insights, often humorous and sometimes poignant, which do not carry a lecturing or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yoshimoto arranges unique scenarios such as these in expressive ways that, in the hands of less talented authors, would otherwise appear simply ridiculous. She touches young adults because she is able to bring realism to these strange stories. Once the reader has accepted her unique storyline, he is drawn to her subtle writing style. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the audience on what exactly each ism is, discuss where each one is found, and how the are influenced in today s society. From the start of the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. As time went on our group started to get our stuff together. With that said if we all began brainstorming and set up some procedural needs from the start, the group would of been on the same page and maybe some wouldn t have waited until the last moment. I was thankful for Jonathan for stepping up and helping the group get started with an outline and focusing on a question of policy along with answering any other questions that arose during the presentation process. Formally, I will do the same to Norway s health care system and spot the similarities or differences with how each one is being run. The Obamacare act is for residents who could not afford insurance or were rejected by pre existing conditions. Under the Obamacare act 11 million Americans were insured. With every system there are always pro and cons that come with how the system works and who is affected or helps the most. According to the article by Athar, some of the pros that were discussed about the US healthcare system were repeals individual mandate, reduces the federal deficit in the long run, no discrimination against people with pre existing conditions (Athar, 2017). I agree that repeals individual mandate is a pro since it requires all individuals to purchase health insurance (2017). Even is someone is the healthiest person nobody can detect when they are going to be sick or when something tragic can happen. It allows a valuable idea to be insured. Another pro that I agree with is no discrimination against people with pre existing conditions. This means that nobody can be overlooked or denied with pre existing conditions. Consequently, with every pro there are con s. Some con s that are stated in the article by Athar are: Higher insurance premiums, does not provide coverage for people who need it most, lessens federal funds for states to expand Medicaid, cuts funding for planned parenthood, and no systemic change (Athar, 2017).
