Difference Between Mind And Body
When asked whether there is a difference between mind and body, most people (e.g. most non
philosophers) will likely answer with an immediate yes. This is due to the fact that we have the
inherent belief that our mental processes differ from that of the physical. This idea just seems right.
However, if we truly believe that the mind has a nonphysical existence then how can we reconcile the
relationship between mind and body an interaction between the nonphysical and the physical?
Furthermore, if we concede that the laws of physics, which only acknowledge the existence of
physical processes, are currently the most accurate descriptors of the world in which we live, how can
we continue to maintain this idea of a nonphysical existence of the mind in a world solely influenced
by physical causes? Therefore, in order to define the mind , we must first consider these two
conflicting ideas and distinguish the characteristics and capabilities of the mind and how they differ
from those of the body. In this paper I will argue that the mind is separate from the body and not
merely defined as a series of physical states.
Our first option in defining the mind is to solely rely on the physical laws of nature. However, these
physical laws only account for the physical states of the universe. Therefore, this option argues that
our mind states are identical with physical states and when we speak of the mind we are merely stating
a particular description of the physical world and

Part I
Identify 2 or 3 issues faced by the aging population.
1 Health
2 Income
3 Lonliness
Answer the following questions in 100 to 200 words each. Provide citations for all the sources you
use.
What is ageism? How does ageism influence the presence of diversity in society?
Ageism is prejudice and discrimination against older adults. (Schaefer, 2012) It is a set of beliefs,
attitudes, norms, and values used to justify age based prejudice, discrimination, and subordination.
This may be casual or systematic. The term was coined in 1969 by ... Show more content on

The information in this section of the AoA website brings together a wide variety of statistical
information about this growing population. (Aging, 2013)
What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population?
The two types of legislation that may or may not affect the aging population in the United States are;
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education
Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 respectively. Population aging may affect financial markets if
individuals tend to amass assets during their working years and spend them during retirement. When
there is a large cohort such as the baby boom, there may be more demand than usual for corporate
stock and other assets while the cohort saves for retirement. This demand for corporate stock and other
assets may abate after the cohort retires. (tonihansberry, 2012)
How does poverty affect the aging population?
Aging Americans, like other age groups, are feeling the effects of the declining real estate and stock
markets, as well as soaring fuel and food prices. Seniors economic security will only increase in
importance as the U.S. population ages. The nation s health and social services resources will face
unprecedented demand as 75 million people in the baby boomer generation reach retirement age some
with eroded savings and retirement accounts. Aging people of color are more likely than white

Sexual Selection and Sexual Conflict Essay
Charles Darwin characterized sexual selection as variance in the number of mates . The purpose of
sexual selection is to perfect the secondary sexual characteristics, which are the morphological
differences between the two sexes. On the other hand the primary sexual characteristics are the
differences between the reproductive genital systems of the two sexes. Sexual selection instead of
adapting the individual to the environment, like natural selection, it does enhance traits involved in
mate acquisition. Sexual conflict, on the other hand, occurs when males and females have different
reproductive interests and deriving from the urge of sexual reproduction. This is boosted by
promiscuity when males and females have several partners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1990 Barette and Vandal studied sparring in caribou. From the 713 matches between males of
different antler sizes, 90% of the time males with the smaller antlers retreated. Also there is the
intersexual selection, which is also known as the female choice. There are three cases of intersexual
selection. Firstly, the female choice co evolved with trait exaggeration, otherwise called Fisher s
process. Secondly, the choosy females gain direct benefit and thirdly, females are choosy because of
sensory bias. Fisher s process is divided in two phases. At phase one, the female preferences evolve
because the trait that they prefer is favored by natural selection and as a result, their offspring are more
likely to have the beneficial trait. When there is a distinct difference in a species, which is linked with
the selective advantage, the females tend to choose the males that clearly distinguish the difference
that is to be observed and they will prefer the most advantageous type. As for phase two, once the
female preferences exist, males with the specific trait are more fit, which is both a natural and a sexual
selection advantage. As a result there will be an increasing selective force favoring stronger
preferences and more extreme traits. The runaway process will eventually stop, when there is no
longer genetic variation for further trait or preference exaggeration or when the viability costs of the
trait, balance sexual

The Delian League Essay
Explain the methods used by the Athenians to transform the Delian League into the Athenian Empire.
(25 marks) There is certainty no evidence to suggest that the Athenians had any long term plans, in the
years 479 470 BC, to change the Delian League into an empire, although from the beginning the
potential to develop into an imperial power were there. Because from the beginning, Athens had
considerable power as she was the permanent hegemon. The most important aspects involving the
transformation of League into empire was the changing relationships between Athens and her allies,
Periclesʼ imperial policy, Athensʼ selfish self interest in gaining more power by using the Leagueʼs
power and establishing laws onto her allies such as the Coinage ... Show more content on

The establishments of cleruchies had cause much resentment from other Greek states towards Athens.
According to Plutarch, this system had relieve the city of a large number of idlers and agitators and
raise the standards of the poorest classes , but at the same time it implanted amongst the allies a
healthy fear of rebellion . It also allowed Athens to gain more numbers of hoplites, as only Athenian
men with money can become a hoplite soldier. This had increased the military force in Athens and had
strengthened Athensʼ hold on her empire, as they were located at strategic points in the Aegean. The
worsening relationship between Athensʼ and her allies in the League is due to Athensʼ selfish self
interest in developing her imperial power, and this had allow Athens to gradually grow into an empire.
This selfish self interest can be seen after the Peace of Callias. At first the aim of the League was,
according to Thucydides, ʻto compensate themselves for their losses by ravaging the territory of the
King of Persiaʼ, but in 449 BC Persian lost the battle against Cimon in Cyprus and signed a peace
treaty called ʻPeace of Calliasʼ. Although this meant that the Leagueʼs aim had been fulfilled, the
Athenians argued that the Persians would strike again if the Greeks appeared weak. This argument
from Athens had an underlying aim, that was so the Greeks states would not leave

The Role Of Nature In Kindred Spirits By John Keats
The power struggle between man and the wild has been relevant since the beginning of time; at
humanity s start, the domination of nature was necessary for survival. But as hunting and gathering
fell out of fashion and factories and farming began to reign, the destruction of our environment has
become a very real threat. The question, then, becomes what mankind s place is in the wild earth it
was born into. Intentionally or not, humans have explored their role in the wilderness through art
forms such as writing, music, and artwork. In the painting Kindred Spirits by Asher Brown Durand,
nature is depicted as a lush, wild place in which man is simply an observant party, unaffecting and
insignificant.
The painting Kindred Spirits was created in 1849, depicting man as an objective observer of nature
rather than a conqueror, to honor the death of the prolific landscape painter Thomas Cole. The
landscape depicted is a rough rendition of Kaaterskills Falls, a nod to an area well loved and explored
through Cole s paintings over his lifetime. The painting features two men; Cole and his friend William
Cullen Bryant, a prominent poet of the time, stand atop a ledge at the left of the painting. They appear
to be conversing while looking out at the lush, unkempt forest surrounding them. The title Kindred
Spirits comes from the poem To Solitude by John Keats. The sonnet is a paean to nature and
concludes, Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind, Those words are images of thoughts

How Does One Rebuild a Failed Movie
Today, a brief one. Just how does one rebuild a failed movie in such a way as to make it an enjoyable
experience for the viewer? Case in point: Drive Angry. Here s what my favorite place says about this
motion picture: Drive Angry is a 2011 American action film starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard,
and directed by Patrick Lussier. It was released on February 25, 2011. Shot in 3 D, the film was met
with a mixed reception and grossed almost $30 million....The film has received mixed reviews from
critics. It currently holds a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 111 reviews, and an average
rating of 5.3/10. James Kendrick said it was loud, vicious, tasteless and inane . He then went on to say
it thunders at you from every direction with a wild abandon that is more irritating and desperate than
enlivening . Mark Jenkins from the Washington Post commented that Even at its most lurid, though,
the movie is a little dull. It only gets less compelling as the back story fills in. Thomas Layer from the
Toronto Telegraph said the film was an abysmal nightmare and that this film was more evidence that
Nicolas Cage is a monotone, uninspiring thespian whose films should be avoided at all costs . On the
other hand, Elizabeth Weitzman from the New York Daily News wrote, Drive Angry is pure
grindhouse, so committed to its own junkiness that it is, in its way, a pleasure to behold. The Evening
Standard film critic Stewart Pulsey praised the film for its resilient desire to unmask

ABSTRACT Fast advances in the wireless technology and the intensive penetration of cell phones
have motivated banks to spend large budget on building mobile banking systems, but the adoption rate
of mobile banking is still underused than expected. Therefore, research to enrich current knowledge
about what affects individuals to use mobile banking is required. Consequently, this study employs the

[2011] pointed out that main customer segments of mobile and Internet banking were not necessarily
the same, which might explain why Sadi et al. [2010] distinguished mobile commerce from other

Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, VOL 13, NO 2, 2012
Therefore, compared to huge online banking studies and relative few research available to help banks
understand the adoption of mobile banking [Suoranta Mattila 2003; Laukkanen Pasanen 2008; Puschel
et al. 2010], more studies to investigate what influences people to adopt mobile banking are necessary
and demanded. Given that the chance of success in introducing a new product or service is highly
related to the depth of understanding of what influences consumers to adopt this new product or
service, this study employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with
age and gender as moderating effects to elaborately investigate what affecting individuals to adopt
mobile banking. The findings culled from this research can help banks execute intricate marketing
campaigns and customize service options to cater to specific customer segments in the context of
electronic banking. 2. Literature Review Literature reveals that abundant research on electronic
banking has focused on Internet banking (also called online banking), whereas research focusing on
mobile banking is relative little and receives underrated attention [Suorantia Mattila 2004; Laukkanen

Shakespeare Poetry Analysis
Poets and authors alike evoke emotion and pictures from one single word. The imagery and thoughts
put into the readers heads by these different writers are the base of one s creativity and imagination
while reading the author s work of art. William Shakespeare is one of the most well known poets of all
time that is able to elicit these emotions from the reader to allow the reader to fully understand what
Shakespeare is trying to accomplish with his poems. Shakespeare keeps his audience entertained with
a whopping 154 sonnets, each having a different meaning and imagery associated with it. Sonnet 18,
[Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day] , and Sonnet 55, [Not Marble, nor the Gilded Monuments]
, are both one of Shakespeare s most famous works. Shakespeare uses these sonnets to explore the
powerful relationship between humanity, art, and time.
Humanity is a common topic in Shakespeare s sonnets. In [Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day]
, humanity is first referred to as a complexion. And often is his gold complexion dimmed is referring
to how a person s beauty is sometimes not shown ( Sonnet 18 6). According to Ray, a writer for the
Explicator, complexion should be interpreted to mean the total disposition of the person... both
external and internal features (Ray). Shakespeare proves this point, for the word complexion is used to
portray that although the person s beauty is not shown, it is still immortal. Another piece of humanity
in the poem is immortality.

Child Development Observation Report Essay
Compare and contrast a child from younger age group with a child from an older age group.
For the younger age group, I observed a 6 month old, boy infant, called Manden, in my friend s home.
1. Adult/Teacher Interaction: In an adult interaction, the child I observed were more engaged with the
people around him by infant directed speech. His mom and I were basically called his name by
rhythm, and he responded to us by smiling and being excited. As I observe in terms of turn taking, I
realize Manden responded to the people around him after everyone is done talking to him. For
example, he looked at the person who he believed is talking to him. After the person was done, he will
smile or laugh. This matched the research by Jasnow and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He really enjoyed playing the games. I realize that whenever I hid my face from him, his face looked
natural, he was not trying to find where did I go. However, when I appear in front of him, he smiled
and giggled. This is consistent with Manden normative development where he can recognize familiar
faces and respond to the sound of people around him (Arnold K., 2013). Other than that, he also has
started to put things in his mouth. According to his mother, Manden also has started to eat gentle baby
food. Referring to Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development, Manden is in the sensorimotor stage
based on his action towards the objects around him (Steinberg et al., 2011, p. 126 127).
5. Social Interactions/Development: There are not too much I expected to see in Manden s social
interaction in my observation. At first, Manden was really attached to his mother. He was afraid when
other people tried to take him from his mother. After a while, he can accept people around him and did
not cry when separated from his mother. He also looked happy when other people keep calling his
name. He has also become more excited when her sister come near him and tried to play with him.
Even though I expected to see more active interaction between Manden and his sister, but I did not get
the chance since he seems to start crying whenever his mother put him down to play. However, the
way he reacts to strangers; where he

Biological Psychological Theories
The person I am writing about is experiencing troubles with their thoughts and behavior. In social
situations they have difficulty expressing emotions when in social gatherings, they can be paranoid
and think there is someone watching them, and they have issue with separating what s real and
imaginary due to voices that they hear in their head. Because of the hallucinations that they hear and
the irrational thoughts and feelings that they experience, functioning in everyday life can be extremely
difficult for them to do. The person suffers from schizophrenia. Biological A biological psychological

are causing the schizophrenia. There is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these biological factors can be the reason that the brain essentially malfunctions causing the
hallucinations and irrational thoughts and behavior. Psychodynamic A psychodynamic psychological
theorist would say that the person in question is suffering from an ego deterioration and disintegration
of the ego, leaving the ego unable to control the urges and ideas between the ID and the super ego.
This creates difficulty with distinguishing reality and their own beliefs and behaviors. They regress to
a state that cannot organize their own thoughts and behaviors, which leaves them with their
hallucinations greatly influencing their actions. Freud believed that the mothers behavior while the
person was growing up is a big factor in the development or lack thereof, of the ego. Behavioral A
behavioral psychological theorist would say that the person in question is experiencing these
schizophrenic episodes and symptoms because of the brain not being properly conditioned to follow
the correct cues, leading to a focus on the wrong stimuli and cues. Because the brain isn t conditioned
well, this causes the brain to misfire and act irrationally rather than respond to the cues

Relationship Between Mother And Infant
Introduction The relationship between mother and infant is extraordinary. A lot of research has been
done to test the social stresses on dyadic synchrony on mothers and infants as well as toddlers and pre
teens. This article extends on previous research on FFSF exposures by observing not only the social
interactions of the mother and infant from face face interactions but also by still face pictures. Also,
assessing the infant s interactive style, the mother s behavior and dyadic synchrony in observing the
responses to the two FFSF exposures 15 minutes apart. This research is relevant to the neuro field, and
how the development of an infant s brain do to social stress. Specific Findings

Infant s Response to the First Social Stress, Predicting Infant s Response to the Repeated Social
Stress, Discussion, Conclusion, References). The methods were only slightly modified from the
previous experiment. The mothers and infant s were exposed twice to the FFSF, 15 days apart and in
two minute episode (play, still face, reunion). The episodes were filmed by two cameras, one on the
mother and one on the infant.

Evolution is the idea that species change over time and have a common ancestor. Which means that

The physical or biological anthropology is the evolution of humans their variability, and adaptations to

Since the finding of Lucy in 1974 the evolutionary tree has nearly doubled (1). Early evidence can tell
how well the humans adapted to their climate, differences in male and female body size, and how
adapted early human species were for walking upright. Early on people thought that there was only a
single line of human species. After further research, the other early human species died out and Homo
sapiens are the sole surviving species.
Archaeology can help understand evolution by the artifacts found near areas inhabited by Homo. The
tools and sediments found inside caves can give anthropologist a better timeline for what their level of

Further evidence suggest the cooking of when anthropologist found fragments of bones mixed with

The safety of fire allowed them to sleep on the ground not having to fear predators, which would
otherwise hunt them during the night. Over time the tree dwelling traits of larger shoulders decreased
and the ground level features became predominate. Which in turn brings us back to the physical

Facilitators In William Shakespeare s Richard II
Shakespeare s Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England s King Richard s rule.
John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard s uncle, is a sick and dying man who
believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. Oh, but they say the tongues of dying men
enforce attention like deep harmony (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare uses Gaunt as the introductory
facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden, where Richard is described as the
royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the second fall of humanity through the
loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt s hope that Richard will listen to the advice he has to
offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he will. Instead, York is of the opinion, Richard
listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his taste for luxury is overwhelming. Gaunt insists
that Richard s reign will not last long; giving a speech in praise of England ... Show more content on

Alabama Repertory Dance Concert Report
Compilation Review of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre
The performances from the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre was nothing short of a success. As I

high school, I am not new to reviewing dance shows; but of course high school dance shows simply
did not compare to the performances from the ARDT. The show was composed of eight unique and
intriguing ensembles, all of which showcased outstanding performance ability. Although every piece
was exceptional, I did have my favorites. Among my favorites were Iron Grace Mechinique, Hex, Don

City by Lusine. The dancers movements were very precise and neat. The costumes reminded me of the

with a demon in horns who danced around her. I interpreted this nightmare as her way of coping and
confronting her demons until she could finally rest again. Strobe lights scattered around the dancers as
the nightmare went on. Once she finally felt content enough to fall asleep, she went back under the

I liked how the show ended with the performance Lifted!. It ended the show off on a positive note
with upbeat music and fast paced movements. It closely resembled African dance and movements.

Finger Print Essay
Finger print scanners for school libraries
Introduction
A finger print is unique for each individual. Using finger prints when students are borrowing books
from the library will ensure that a student does not use a fake name, and this will reduce the number of
books the library losses. The finger print scanner will be connected to the school s library system, and
will automatically populate the fields once the student s finger print is read. The finger print scanner
will serve as a fundamental tool for the librarian and will reduce their verification work. In case, a
student s finger print has not been recorded, the librarian can easily capture the student s records, and
since the scanner is linked to the school s system registration is a very easy step.
The market
There are many security companies that have implemented biometric scanners, but majority of these

Dance With Wolves Analysis
The portrayal of Indigenous people in the film Dance with Wolves written by Michael B., produced by
Jim Wilson and Kevin Costner illustrate a new perspective of the life of the Indian. The main
character, Lieutenant Dunbar, encounters an indigenous man known as Kicking Bird that later on, the
movie will create a relationship with Dunbar. Through this interaction, Dunbar will be accepted into
the tribe and in his journey with the Sioux people, he finds a new way of life. This move is based on
the American Frontier and the capture of the last Free roaming tribe f the Sioux people. Filmed mainly
in South Dakota and Wyoming. The attempt to recreate the image of the Indian shows the similarity
with every Hollywood depiction of Indigenous tribe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she is shown as a white female, she was raised in the tribe and adapted to their culture and
traditions. Similar to Pocahontas, she was the bridge between Lieutenant Dunbar and the Sioux as she
becomes the translator for the Kicking bird, their medicine man. In addition, she was always
connected back to a male figure as it appears that her only use was to be with a man. She had lost her
sense of identity and reality when her first husband was killed, then, later on, meets Lieutenant Dunbar
while attempting to kill herself. This is another example of her being see as the princess because the
Princess is allowed the even grander gesture of committing suicide when her lover is slain or fails to
return to her after she rescues him (Green, 704). She is depicted as helpless without a man and is only
seen as useful with one. In addition, like every depiction of the princess her having to choose between
the non Native man whom she falls in love with or her tribe. While beautiful the Indian Princess is
lesser than white women and more often than not the main character will ultimately choose the white
maiden rather than her (Marubbio, 2006). Until we hear the story of why her name is Standing with a
Fist, as she defends herself through physical force from one of the women of the tribe continuously
harassing her. Another is Stands With Fist use of a gun to protect her and others when another Tribe
tries to attack the tepee they occupied. For that reason, this action alters the notion of the helpless
princess as everyone sees her as a woman with

The Problem Of Pet Overpopulation
I. Attention Getter: We all see them, those sad little faces that look up at us with their sad eyes. They
need homes and families that love them, they are stray animals.
II. Introduce Topic: Stray animals and pet overpopulation is a serious problem in today s society.
III. Relevance: Every person in this room will either own or come in contact with an animal. We need
to know how we can keep our own animals from contributing to the problem and other ways we can
help solve it.
IV. Credibility: I am a volunteer at one of the local humane societies, I see stray animals come in and
out all of the time. We need to do something to fix the problem of pet overpopulation. I also found my

That is one every 13 seconds. Only 25 percent of animals in shelters get adopted.
b. Animals that enter shelters are either lost pets that don t have ID tags or microchips or stray and
feral animals who have never known the love of a human.
Transition: Now that we know what a problem animal overpopulation is, let s talk about how we can
help to solve this issue.
II. The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered.
a. Spay is the term for female animals while neutering is used for male animals. Both are surgical
procedures to remove the reproductive organs of the animal. By performing these procedures, our pets
cannot contribute to the problem because they cannot reproduce. According to Northwest Spay and
Neuter, if every pet was fixed then the overpopulation problem would be fix in less than 10 years. If
we put it into these terms is it easier to understand: just one female dog and her puppies can result in
67,000 dogs in six years, and one female cat and her kittens can lead to 370,000 cats being born in
seven years.
b. There are several benefits to having your own pet spayed or neutered besides helping solve this
crisis. The benefits include reducing the risk of some of the most common types of cancers, making it
likelier for animals to live a longer and healthier life, and nixing aggression problems. This causes
animals mark their territory with strong scented urine. And contray to common

To What Extent Are Earthquakes More Dangerous Than Volcanoes
I believe that earthquakes are way more dangerous than volcanoes. I believe that they are more
dangerous than volcanoes because they can affect any city, state, or country at any time anywhere. The
aftermath of the earthquakes are more destructive to an area, and cost way more for the government to
clean up. For example, the earthquake that happened in Haiti several years ago devastated the country
a lot. The devastating earthquake was a magnitude of 7, and left 230,000 dead, as well as over 300,000
people injured. Most of the country went into poverty right after this, and the Red Cross immediately
got involved. The earthquake also damaged over 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial
buildings, as well as 15,000 primary schools and 1,500

tell that it was intended for Disney lovers, although I don t fall into that category, I can still apply the
information. Be Our Guest is intended to provide the right tools and equipment necessary to satisfy
customers. At first glance, this book seemed plain and boring to me, but as I kept reading I came
across more and more information about the American entrepreneur, film producer animator an voice
actor Walter Elias Disney and about his billion dollar empire he created. Walter Disney was a man

Depending on the emergency contraceptive you want they can be bought: in store, at a pharmacy, or
on line. You need to take them as soon as possible preferably as soon as three days if possible, but no
later than five days after sex for the result to be the most effective. Again they are used for preventing
pregnancy, not for stopping, or aborting it. Contraceptives like condoms, or other birth control
methods are to protect, and hopefully prevent pregnancy if used correctly. These are not 100%
effective either, so do not rely on these methods to prevent STD, STI, or prevent a 100% of
pregnancies. You can find them at your local drugstore, on line, in store or where ever you may shop.
Some of the available methods are sold only by doctors because the doctor must prescribe it, or a
health center. They are used, or inserted in various ways look on the website listed above, and always
follow the directions, on the box; they are placed there for the safety of your partner(s), and yourself.

Why Miners Should Not Use Social Media
Social media has become an essential part of society in this day and age because of its many positives
that has many people including minors unable to stay away. While being a finger swipe away from
instant news and communication with others has it benefits for minors, there are also many negatives.
Most minors that post on social media sites, don t have their near future in mind when they hit post .
As social media becomes more prominent among minors, a record number of college admission
officers have admitted to checking their applicants online presents when deciding to offer them an
education at their college/university. This is why miners should not use social media, as their future
education often hinges upon what they post on online. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An illusion. According to an article in the Chicago Tribune by Heidi Stevens, forty percent of colleges
turn to facebook, instagram and other social media sites for context on applicants. Meanwhile thirty
seven percent of colleges discovered posts that decreased a students chance at admission, including
signs of criminal activity, drug or alcohol use, racial prejudice or inappropriate activity. For a lot of
students this means that the possibility of getting into a prestigious university could be taken away, by
a meaningless post online. An example that further proves this idea would be how a senior applying to
Bowdoin College in Brunswick Me. attended a campus information session for prospective students,
and throughout the presentation she tweeted malicious comments about her fellow attendees,
repeatedly using a common expletive. Little to her knowledge, the college kept track of her twitter
presence. She was ultimately denied admission to the college, the dean of admission commented We
would have wondered about the judgment of someone who spends their time on their mobile phone
and makes such awful remarks, . This is just one example of a student damaging her future by not
knowing when to not post or knowing what to

chest wall. Which of these signs would indicate the presence of a pneumothorax in this client? *
Diminished breath sounds
Rationale: This client has sustained a blunt or a closed chest injury. Basic symptoms of a closed
pneumothorax are shortness of breath and chest pain. A larger pneumothorax may cause tachypnea,
cyanosis, diminished breath sounds, and subcutaneous emphysema. Hyperresonance also may occur
on the affected side. A sucking sound at the site of injury would be noted with an open chest injury.

fractured rib. The nurse would expect to note which of the following? * Pain, especially with
inspiration * Rationale: Rib fractures are a common injury, especially in the older client, and result
from a blunt injury or a fall. Typical signs and symptoms include pain and tenderness localized at the
fracture site and exacerbated by inspiration and palpation, shallow respirations, splinting or guarding
the chest protectively to minimize chest movement, and possible bruising at the fracture site.
Paradoxical respirations are seen with flail chest. * * (660) 9. A client with a chest injury has suffered
flail chest. A nurse assesses the client for which most distinctive sign of flail chest? * Paradoxical
chest movement * Rationale: Flail chest results from multiple rib fractures. This results in a floating
section of the ribs. Because this section is unattached to the rest of the bony rib cage, this segment
results in paradoxical chest movement. This means that the force of inspiration pulls the fractured
segment inward, while the rest of the chest expands. Similarly, during exhalation, the segment
balloons outward while the rest of the chest moves inward. This is a

Evaluation And Verification Of Software Testing
Abstract:
Now a days in a commercial industry like IT, developing a software at an optimized cost is very much
necessary and that pressure is always there on each and every organization. And Software testing
forms integral part of any software life cycle. Hence, selecting the right tool for test automation at the
lowest cost possible is always important and very significant. In this project I would like to work on
comparing 2 popular functional test automation tools namely Quick Test Pro which is a licensed tool
and Selenium, an open and free source by considering various factors other than cost which is only a
price of tool. In longer run I assume even though QTP is a licensed tool it provides more flexibility
and can be useful in much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many existing tools like Quality Center which is licensed by HP. All the stages are designed
and implemented manually from requirement analysis, designing test plan, developing test scenarios,
writing test cases, executing the test cases, defect reporting etc. The problems with manual testing are
time consuming and non reusable and no scripting facility, manual effort required and few errors are
uncovered [1]. Manual Testing is preferred to review the application requirements, and to create the
High Level design Documents and Low level design Documents [3].
On the contrast, Software Automation means automatic software design. In software development it is
significant to liberate software engineers from doing same tedious work multiple times with the
assistance of tools. Automation testing approach makes use of various tools based on the testing
requirement of the Application under Test (AUT). In Automation testing tester runs the script on the
testing tool and testing is done. The tester may or may not know the inside details of the software
module under test [9]. Therefore white box testing or black box testing can be used. White box testing
is highly effective in detecting and resolving problems, because bugs can often be found before they
cause trouble [11]. White box testing is the process of giving the input to the system and checking how
the system processes the input and generated the required

  • 2. Difference Between Mind And Body When asked whether there is a difference between mind and body, most people (e.g. most non philosophers) will likely answer with an immediate yes. This is due to the fact that we have the inherent belief that our mental processes differ from that of the physical. This idea just seems right. However, if we truly believe that the mind has a nonphysical existence then how can we reconcile the relationship between mind and body an interaction between the nonphysical and the physical? Furthermore, if we concede that the laws of physics, which only acknowledge the existence of physical processes, are currently the most accurate descriptors of the world in which we live, how can we continue to maintain this idea of a nonphysical existence of the mind in a world solely influenced by physical causes? Therefore, in order to define the mind , we must first consider these two conflicting ideas and distinguish the characteristics and capabilities of the mind and how they differ from those of the body. In this paper I will argue that the mind is separate from the body and not merely defined as a series of physical states. Our first option in defining the mind is to solely rely on the physical laws of nature. However, these physical laws only account for the physical states of the universe. Therefore, this option argues that our mind states are identical with physical states and when we speak of the mind we are merely stating a particular description of the physical world and ... Provide citations for all the sources you use. What is ageism? How does ageism influence the presence of diversity in society? Ageism is prejudice and discrimination against older adults. The information in this section of the AoA website brings together a wide variety of statistical information about this growing population. (Aging, 2013) What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population? The two types of legislation that may or may not affect the aging population in the United States are; The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 respectively. Population aging may affect financial markets if individuals tend to amass assets during their working years and spend them during retirement. When there is a large cohort such as the baby boom, there may be more demand than usual for corporate stock and other assets while the cohort saves for retirement. This demand for corporate stock and other assets may abate after the cohort retires. (tonihansberry, 2012)

  • 5. Sexual Selection and Sexual Conflict Essay Charles Darwin characterized sexual selection as variance in the number of mates . The purpose of sexual selection is to perfect the secondary sexual characteristics, which are the morphological differences between the two sexes. On the other hand the primary sexual characteristics are the differences between the reproductive genital systems of the two sexes. Sexual selection instead of adapting the individual to the environment, like natural selection, it does enhance traits involved in mate acquisition. Sexual conflict, on the other hand, occurs when males and females have different reproductive interests and deriving from the urge of sexual reproduction. This is boosted by promiscuity when males and females have several partners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1990 Barette and Vandal studied sparring in caribou. From the 713 matches between males of different antler sizes, 90% of the time males with the smaller antlers retreated. Also there is the intersexual selection, which is also known as the female choice. There are three cases of intersexual selection. Firstly, the female choice co evolved with trait exaggeration, otherwise called Fisher s process. Secondly, the choosy females gain direct benefit and thirdly, females are choosy because of sensory bias. Fisher s process is divided in two phases. At phase one, the female preferences evolve because the trait that they prefer is favored by natural selection and as a result, their offspring are more likely to have the beneficial trait. When there is a distinct difference in a species, which is linked with the selective advantage, the females tend to choose the males that clearly distinguish the difference that is to be observed and they will prefer the most advantageous type. As for phase two, once the female preferences exist, males with the specific trait are more fit, which is both a natural and a sexual selection advantage. As a result there will be an increasing selective force favoring stronger preferences and more extreme traits. The runaway process will eventually stop, when there is no longer genetic variation for further trait or preference exaggeration or when the viability costs of the trait, balance sexual ... • 7. The Delian League Essay Explain the methods used by the Athenians to transform the Delian League into the Athenian Empire. (25 marks) There is certainty no evidence to suggest that the Athenians had any long term plans, in the years 479 470 BC, to change the Delian League into an empire, although from the beginning the potential to develop into an imperial power were there. Because from the beginning, Athens had considerable power as she was the permanent hegemon. The most important aspects involving the transformation of League into empire was the changing relationships between Athens and her allies, Periclesʼ imperial policy, Athensʼ selfish self interest in gaining more power by using the Leagueʼs power and establishing laws onto her allies such as the Coinage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The establishments of cleruchies had cause much resentment from other Greek states towards Athens. According to Plutarch, this system had relieve the city of a large number of idlers and agitators and raise the standards of the poorest classes , but at the same time it implanted amongst the allies a healthy fear of rebellion . It also allowed Athens to gain more numbers of hoplites, as only Athenian men with money can become a hoplite soldier. This had increased the military force in Athens and had strengthened Athensʼ hold on her empire, as they were located at strategic points in the Aegean. The worsening relationship between Athensʼ and her allies in the League is due to Athensʼ selfish self interest in developing her imperial power, and this had allow Athens to gradually grow into an empire. This selfish self interest can be seen after the Peace of Callias. At first the aim of the League was, according to Thucydides, ʻto compensate themselves for their losses by ravaging the territory of the King of Persiaʼ, but in 449 BC Persian lost the battle against Cimon in Cyprus and signed a peace treaty called ʻPeace of Calliasʼ. Although this meant that the Leagueʼs aim had been fulfilled, the Athenians argued that the Persians would strike again if the Greeks appeared weak. This argument from Athens had an underlying aim, that was so the Greeks states would not leave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Role Of Nature In Kindred Spirits By John Keats The power struggle between man and the wild has been relevant since the beginning of time; at humanity s start, the domination of nature was necessary for survival. But as hunting and gathering fell out of fashion and factories and farming began to reign, the destruction of our environment has become a very real threat. The question, then, becomes what mankind s place is in the wild earth it was born into. Intentionally or not, humans have explored their role in the wilderness through art forms such as writing, music, and artwork. In the painting Kindred Spirits by Asher Brown Durand, nature is depicted as a lush, wild place in which man is simply an observant party, unaffecting and insignificant. The painting Kindred Spirits was created in 1849, depicting man as an objective observer of nature rather than a conqueror, to honor the death of the prolific landscape painter Thomas Cole. The landscape depicted is a rough rendition of Kaaterskills Falls, a nod to an area well loved and explored through Cole s paintings over his lifetime. The painting features two men; Cole and his friend William Cullen Bryant, a prominent poet of the time, stand atop a ledge at the left of the painting. They appear to be conversing while looking out at the lush, unkempt forest surrounding them. The title Kindred Spirits comes from the poem To Solitude by John Keats. The sonnet is a paean to nature and concludes, Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind, Those words are images of thoughts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Does One Rebuild a Failed Movie Today, a brief one. Just how does one rebuild a failed movie in such a way as to make it an enjoyable experience for the viewer? Case in point: Drive Angry. Here s what my favorite place says about this motion picture: Drive Angry is a 2011 American action film starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard, and directed by Patrick Lussier. It was released on February 25, 2011. Shot in 3 D, the film was met with a mixed reception and grossed almost $30 million....The film has received mixed reviews from critics. It currently holds a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 111 reviews, and an average rating of 5.3/10. James Kendrick said it was loud, vicious, tasteless and inane . He then went on to say it thunders at you from every direction with a wild abandon that is more irritating and desperate than enlivening . Mark Jenkins from the Washington Post commented that Even at its most lurid, though, the movie is a little dull. It only gets less compelling as the back story fills in. Thomas Layer from the Toronto Telegraph said the film was an abysmal nightmare and that this film was more evidence that Nicolas Cage is a monotone, uninspiring thespian whose films should be avoided at all costs . On the other hand, Elizabeth Weitzman from the New York Daily News wrote, Drive Angry is pure grindhouse, so committed to its own junkiness that it is, in its way, a pleasure to behold. The Evening Standard film critic Stewart Pulsey praised the film for its resilient desire to unmask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

[2011] pointed out that main customer segments of mobile and Internet banking were not necessarily the same, which might explain why Sadi et al. [2010] distinguished mobile commerce from other electronic commerce. Page 104 Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, VOL 13, NO 2, 2012 Therefore, compared to huge online banking studies and relative few research available to help banks understand the adoption of mobile banking [Suoranta Mattila 2003; Laukkanen Pasanen 2008; Puschel et al. 2010], more studies to investigate what influences people to adopt mobile banking are necessary and demanded. Given that the chance of success in introducing a new product or service is highly related to the depth of understanding of what influences consumers to adopt this new product or service, this study employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with age and gender as moderating effects to elaborately investigate what affecting individuals to adopt mobile banking. The findings culled from this research can help banks execute intricate marketing campaigns and customize service options to cater to specific customer segments in the context of electronic banking. 2. Literature Review Literature reveals that abundant research on electronic banking has focused on Internet banking (also called online banking), whereas research focusing on mobile banking is relative little and receives underrated attention [Suorantia Mattila 2004; Laukkanen Pasanen ... The imagery and thoughts put into the readers heads by these different writers are the base of one s creativity and imagination while reading the author s work of art. William Shakespeare is one of the most well known poets of all time that is able to elicit these emotions from the reader to allow the reader to fully understand what Shakespeare is trying to accomplish with his poems. Shakespeare keeps his audience entertained with a whopping 154 sonnets, each having a different meaning and imagery associated with it. Sonnet 18, [Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day] , and Sonnet 55, [Not Marble, nor the Gilded Monuments] , are both one of Shakespeare s most famous works. Shakespeare uses these sonnets to explore the powerful relationship between humanity, art, and time. Humanity is a common topic in Shakespeare s sonnets. In [Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day] , humanity is first referred to as a complexion. And often is his gold complexion dimmed is referring to how a person s beauty is sometimes not shown ( Sonnet 18 6). According to Ray, a writer for the Explicator, complexion should be interpreted to mean the total disposition of the person... both external and internal features (Ray). For the younger age group, I observed a 6 month old, boy infant, called Manden, in my friend s home. 1. Adult/Teacher Interaction: In an adult interaction, the child I observed were more engaged with the people around him by infant directed speech. His mom and I were basically called his name by rhythm, and he responded to us by smiling and being excited. As I observe in terms of turn taking, I realize Manden responded to the people around him after everyone is done talking to him. However, when I appear in front of him, he smiled and giggled. This is consistent with Manden normative development where he can recognize familiar faces and respond to the sound of people around him (Arnold K., 2013). Other than that, he also has started to put things in his mouth. According to his mother, Manden also has started to eat gentle baby food. Referring to Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development, Manden is in the sensorimotor stage based on his action towards the objects around him (Steinberg et al., 2011, p. 126 127). 5. Social Interactions/Development: There are not too much I expected to see in Manden s social interaction in my observation. At first, Manden was really attached to his mother. He was afraid when other people tried to take him from his mother. After a while, he can accept people around him and did not cry when separated from his mother. He also looked happy when other people keep calling his name. He has also become more excited when her sister come near him and tried to play with him. A lot of research has been done to test the social stresses on dyadic synchrony on mothers and infants as well as toddlers and pre teens. This article extends on previous research on FFSF exposures by observing not only the social interactions of the mother and infant from face face interactions but also by still face pictures. Also, assessing the infant s interactive style, the mother s behavior and dyadic synchrony in observing the responses to the two FFSF exposures 15 minutes apart. This research is relevant to the neuro field, and how the development of an infant s brain do to social stress. In June, fighting erupted in the capital. One night was named quot;Noche Trista quot; meaning sad night in Spanish, because Cortes came back and helped kill over 10,000 Aztecs and in the act, thousands of Spaniards died. Suddenly, Cortes started conquering many villages and brutally killing many Aztecs. By August 13, 1521 Tenochititlan became Mexico City and all citizens were required to support the Spanish. In Mexico City, things became more Spanish. Many Africans were brought over as slaves and even some women came there. A government was started and in 1524, 30,000 people lived in Mexico City. Early evidence can tell how well the humans adapted to their climate, differences in male and female body size, and how adapted early human species were for walking upright. Early on people thought that there was only a single line of human species. After further research, the other early human species died out and Homo sapiens are the sole surviving species. Archaeology can help understand evolution by the artifacts found near areas inhabited by Homo. The tools and sediments found inside caves can give anthropologist a better timeline for what their level of intellectual ability. Tools can tell a significant amount about their social lifestyle. Finding places were a campfire was burned over a period of time means that they most likely cooked and even spent social time around the fire. Further evidence suggest the cooking of when anthropologist found fragments of bones mixed with ash. The ability to manipulate fire let them live in cave dwellings and on the ground instead of in trees. The safety of fire allowed them to sleep on the ground not having to fear predators, which would otherwise hunt them during the night. • 19. Facilitators In William Shakespeare s Richard II Shakespeare s Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England s King Richard s rule. John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard s uncle, is a sick and dying man who believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. Oh, but they say the tongues of dying men enforce attention like deep harmony (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare uses Gaunt as the introductory facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden, where Richard is described as the royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the second fall of humanity through the loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt s hope that Richard will listen to the advice he has to offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he will. Instead, York is of the opinion, Richard listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his taste for luxury is overwhelming. As I watched the show, I was in awe of how well put together it all was. Coming from a performing arts high school, I am not new to reviewing dance shows; but of course high school dance shows simply did not compare to the performances from the ARDT. The show was composed of eight unique and intriguing ensembles, all of which showcased outstanding performance ability. Although every piece was exceptional, I did have my favorites. Among my favorites were Iron Grace Mechinique, Hex, Don t Fall Asleep, Harlequinade Pas de Deux, and Lifted!. Iron Grace Mechinique was performed to Iron City by Lusine. I interpreted this nightmare as her way of coping and confronting her demons until she could finally rest again. Strobe lights scattered around the dancers as the nightmare went on. Once she finally felt content enough to fall asleep, she went back under the covers. This dance was one of my favorites because I d never seen a bed used as a prop in a dance before.
