Summary Of Martin Luther King Jr And Malcom X
Civil rights was a much larger issue during the time in which Martin Luther King Jr was alive and he
is one of the most known peaceful protestors. It is easy to forget that at one point African Americans
were not equal as we live in a society where no one really pays attention to skin color anymore.
However, we do not learn enough about the struggles that the negros had to endure in order to get to
where they are today. Back in the day everything was segregated even things like schools, drinking
fountains, and places on public transportation. Even bathrooms were labeled with oppressing words
like Colored Only and Whites Only and no one even thought twice about it. Two main men who had
similar goals to gain basic human rights were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. These men were
similar in their goals, but differ in the ways in which they pursued those goals and it is without a doubt
that Martin Luther King Jr has a better method to obtaining civil rights. The major thing that the two
men had in common was that they disagreed with colored people being denied jobs simply for having
the wrong skin tone. This is important to understand as it is central to both arguments and action that
these two men took. There were certain companies who were big businesses that did not hire
indiviudals of color simply because they were white and probably racist. Being denied a job simply
due to the color of your skin is a heart breaking experience and made people feel less than those who

I interviewed Durward Durk Lynch he is in my field of interest where I want to work as one day. He is
a Nurse Practitioner at the Vanden Bosh Clinic and at the College Clinic. He gave information on his
background and what drove him to be a Nurse Practitioner (NP). He really has had a lot of experience,
as I will explain to you what he has shared.
Durk was 18 years old graduating from high school and at the time he didn t have the goal or even
thought to be a (NP). He was volunteering in a hospital working with paralyzed patients. He was in his

really what I do maybe I shy away from it. In my career I only talk one on one with my patients and
there family. Everything I discuss with my patients is private and confidential. So therefore I don t
need to really give a speech among a crowd.
I really enjoyed the interview listening to his experience and made me want to strive even more to
become a good Nurse Practitioner. His words were really helpful and he gave me helpful tips on what
route to take to get to my career goals. I thanked him for his time and thanked him for the helpful
advice. That was my interview that I chose to talk about according to my field I am interested

Sports Influence On Canadian Identity
A nations identity is a way for all its common citizens to unite together, and for a country as young as
Canada, its identity is often not complete and is ever changing. Social trends and beliefs are constantly
evolving and therefore have an impact on how the rest of the world views Canada. However, sports
have been a staple in the Canadian identity for over 100 years, but even sports aren t impermeable to
changing times. Over the last 18 years there has been a steady decline in sport participation across all
age groups in Canada and to keep the soul of Canada intact it is important to keep funding the sports
industry because the growing disinterest in sports puts a main factor of the Canadian identity at risk.

One was heralded as the personification of what it means to be Canadian and the other as a villain who
embarrassed Canada (Jackson Ponic, 2001). Both athletes were once dominant in their sport and their
actions have affected the way Canadians view themselves. Wayne Gretzky is known as the greatest
hockey player of all time, born and raised in Canada. It was thought that through finding greatness in
him we can find greatness in ourselves (Jackson Ponic, 2001, p. 47), this shows how important he was
to Canadians and how much the average Canadian looked up to him. However, when he was traded to
the Los Angeles Kings and married an American actress, Canadians were outraged. They viewed it as
another thing the Americans stole from us (Jackson Ponic, 2001, p. 49). The other side of the coin is
the story of Ben Johnson, Ben Johnson wasn t a household name in Canada until he won the gold
medal at the Olympic games in Seoul, South Korea. When he won, Canadians were heralding him as
their own, as representing the multiculturalism that was present in Canada since he was not Canadian
born but rather, Jamaican born (Jackson Ponic, 2001, p. 50). The fanfare that followed his gold medal
was to be expected, he was the first Canadian in 56 years to win a medal at the coveted, premier event

A Smart City Is Not Just About The Good Things
Life is not just about the good things or just about the bad things. It is both. It all depends on where
you focus your attention. Similarly, this quote taken from author Anne Marie Aguilar emphasizes this
paper s argument that the concept of a smart city has positive, but also negative impacts, such as
generating class division and social inequality. However, because attention is directed towards the
positive effects, this often leads one to overlook the primarily negative influence of this phenomenon.
To start with, we define a smart city as a city in which ICT is merged with traditional infrastructures,
coordinated and integrated using new digital technologies , (Batty, 2012). A real world example of this
would be India, where its government has announced their Smart Cities Mission ( 2nd smart cities,
2015). Eventually this category of cities will lead to social inequality and exclusion, as companies,
and cities focus on those who can pay to generate profits, while ignore the social benefit of the
predominant lower class citizens of India. And finally, this exclusion, will add to the digital divide in
India as a result of the unequal access to modern information, communication and technology,
something a smart city revolves around. Furthermore a smart city s focus is to enable more efficient
forms of urban management and service delivery ; however, this city leads to more than just that
(Smith, 2015). Clearly, the model of a smart city holds factors which create

Kurt Rosenwinkel s Caipi, An Influential American Guitarist
Influential American guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel opted to radically change direction in Caipi, a
Brazilian jazz fusion record whose concept and compositions had been worked on over the last ten
years.
Accompanying the virtuoso guitarist, who also sings and plays bass, keyboards, and percussion, are
international artists of undeniable quality. The lineup includes the saxophonist Mark Turner, multi
instrumentalist Pedro Martins, and intermittent appearances of violinist Frederika Krier, French horn
player Chris Komer, baritone guitarist Alex Kozmidi, drummer Andi Haberl, rock/blues guitarist Eric
Clapton, and a quartet of vocalists.
A myriad of colorful confetti covers the tropical landscapes described by the title track, where typical
Brazilian rhythms fuse seamlessly with the straight ahead post bop style that the guitarist has been
plunging in. On top of the highly colored acoustic voicings, the radiance of his effect drenched electric
guitar sound is completely identifiable with previous works, even if applied to a new context. ... Show

Political Criticism Of Dracula
The interpretation of Stoker s vampire novel can be made from a political perspective. Stoker novel is
in respond to the political threat represented by the monster dracula. Stoker paints the character of
dracula to bring out the features of a colonizer who is yearning to spread his power and authority
beyond his home territory (England) with the objective of controlling other domains. Certainly, it
could be said that his his control of his own castle is waning fast. It is for this reason It should be
understood that colonization and the associated threats were the order of the day even in to the close
of the 19th centuary. To prove his power and control, the count controls all the places he inhabits or
owns. In the novel, reference can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though not shown in a straightforward way, the interconnectedness of these themes can be traced to
illustrate how the theme of rebellion is developed. This novel was published during an era when
women were suppressed and the community was struggling with other social problems like
homosexuality. Interestingly, Britain was at a phase when vigorous social changes were at their peak.
In the light of these vigorous changes, homosexuals could not help but express their sexual frustration.
In his novel, Stoker s presentation of the new woman , who is sexually active, powerful and
dominating, mocks the female suppression in that era. This indicates rebellion. Conclusively, the
homosexual symbolism presented in the novel could be considered as a way for Stoker to relieve the
guilt of his inability to help a dear friend, Oscar Wilde. Many hidden incidents of rebellion were
presented in this novel. It is with the help of a critical mindset that one may discern many instances of
rebellion in characters in the novel and in the author as

Scientific Revolution Research Paper
The Scientific Revolution
Have you ever thought when the humanity stepped into a new era of its history? It happened during
The Scientific Revolution when humans views on nature and the world were drastically transformed
with the help of discoveries in the field of physics, science, mathematics chemistry, biology, and
astronomy. That period of the history was very important for humanity because of the collapse of the
ancient medieval picture of the world, new scientific discoveries and the interaction between science
and other social institutions.
The biggest achievement in the Scientific Revolution was the collapse of the ancient medieval picture
of the world. The new ideology was created, which helped to create the modern science. In antiquity,
the focus was on natural and cosmic life; during the Renaissance, there was a focus on understanding
the world through Humanism and the role of the person in the world. After all, Descartes s philosophy,
which was the foundations of the scientific method, did not deny the creation of the world by God.
However, it claimed that from that moment the world began to develop with its internal laws. The next
contributions to science were new scientific inventions. Humans views on nature were radically
changed with the help of discoveries in the field of mathematics, science, physics, and astronomy. The

Most risk factors associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are
interconnected. For example, an obese person is more likely to have other conditions such as high
cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC
(2015) reports that some risk factors are modifiable such as smoking, and diet, while others are non

the three major risk factors for CVD; high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking (CDC,

The Tragedy And Joy Of Writing
The Tragedy and Joy of Writing We must all go through the experience of writing. Writing
experiences are harmful and tragic, while others offer a sense of joy and pride. Some writing
experiences are viewed as a formulated acquired skill and others as a beautiful and eloquent form of
art. The process of our perception into what we write and convey is confounding because each person
perceives it differently that the next. Writing for me is often a tedious and strenuous task, but I have
found a way to verbally express my emotions, but I have discovered more about myself from what I
have written. I hope that the experiences that I share stimulates my peer s imaginations and senses, so
that they may glimpse into my perception to my personal writing excerpts, which have been both
tragic and joyful. One of my most fond experiences of writing was during the year of 2007. In a matter
of minutes I had composed a small poem. I pondered for days to submit it online for publication. I was
nervous and excited at the same time. You know that feeling. It s the one where you are afraid of the
rejection when the rush of adrenaline comes through that tends to make you so nauseous that your
heart races, you become intensely overcome with perspiration, and a small lump forms in the back of
your throat. Finally, I overcame the feeling of sickness, gave into my heart, and submitted what I
thought would become another disappointment. Less

Biological, Psychological, And Social Factors
A bio psychosocial describes an approach systematically considers biological, psychological, and
social factors and their complex interactions in understanding health, illness, and health care delivery.
Biological factors include defective biological processes compounds that lead to biological
dysfunction and illness. Psychological factors are about the individual s emotions, behavior, and
mental processes. Social factors include social status and relations. These factors are all considered in
an attempt to understand the underlying factors of such disease. Sigmund Freud would consider the
social factors in their theories. Behavioral and environmental psychologists ignore the developmental,
biological or psychological aspect of the individual and argue that a human person learns to control
their direct environment in relation to their situations; learning their behaviors with the surroundings
their in. Without combination of other approaches to psychological problems, it is complicated to help
any person with the behavioral model. This is because helping a patient to learn positively rewarding
stimuli without understanding or considering factors like background or biological factor could be
meaningless. Biological approach gives focus on genetically inheritance and the internal body state of
any individual. This could be a good perspective in understanding such problems, but it cannot be
entirely relied upon to explain certain problems. A better approach that would cover

This restaurant was less formal and less expensive than WD 50 but offered Dufresne s exciting
approach to food. The 56 seat restaurant is meant to cultivate the atmosphere of a public house. The
décor is overwhelmingly wood, creating a casual and fraternal atmosphere. A guest might feel
comfortable simply ordering drinks and enjoying the atmosphere at Alder s full sized bar. Such
aimless patronage would feel out of place in the more formal WD 50.
In Alder s kitchen, Dufresne refined his skills with signature tools such as meat glue and the anti
griddle. He also rebranded his food to appeal to a wider audience. WD 50 was an upscale, exclusive
restaurant that thrived on being different from other eateries.
Alder has a more mainstream appeal. Dufresne made the menu more affordable for a broader
audience. He aimed to make food that will make guests want to return week after week. This meant
satisfying not only their taste buds but their wallets too. Even the restaurants wine list was carefully
tailored to offer guests with the most affordable

How Did The Puritans Affect The Salem Witch Trials
Puritans can be found at the beginnings of the English Reformation. In the 1500s England broke away
from the Roman Catholic Church and created a new church called the Church of England. In 1630 the
Puritans left England in search of religious freedom. The Puritans wanted to leave the Church of
England to become pure by getting rid of Catholic practices. The Puritans did not want to completely
separate from the Church of England. They wanted to make reforms or changes, but King Charles 1
would threaten the Puritans with harsh punishments if they did not obey the Church of England. So
they left England to find freedom in America. The Puritans established the Massachusetts Bay Colony
when they arrived in America. The Puritans wanted to base the colony on the laws of God.( Puritanism
) What Puritans believed about witchcraft, forgiveness, and sin all had an enormous impact on their
culture and contributed to the Salem witch trials.
Witchcraft to the Puritan people is seen as becoming close to the devil in exchange for certain powers
to do evil. ( The Events and Causes of the Salem Witch Trials ) Puritans got their belief of witchcraft
from the bible. The Leviticus 19:31 says Do not turn to mediums or seek out spirits, for you will be
defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. ( Bible Verses About Witchcraft ). 2 Chronicles 33:6 says He
sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practised divination and witchcraft,

conveyed in Kurt Vonnegut Jr. s dystopian story Harrison Bergeron . In his piece, he creates the setting
of the world in the year 2081, where everyone has become equal and nobody is different. Whether it
be strengths, talents, disabilities, or intelligence, everyone has become identical to one another, except
for the main character Harrison Bergeron, who was arrested and taken away by the government at the

When describing the like minded people and their actions throughout Harrison Bergeron , Vonnegut
uses very elementary and short sentences. After discounting their son s death, George and Hazel
Bergeron continue with their mediocre and regulated lives, when George hears a ringing obscurity in
his ear. Hazel then responds to him, saying, Gee I could tell that one was a doozy, said Hazel. You can
say that again, said George. Gee said Hazel, I could tell that one was a doozy. (Vonnegut 6). Vonnegut
utilizes these short sentences to portray how simple everyone has become in this dystopian future.
Consequently, the civilians seem to have no diversity; however, when construing Harrison Bergeron s
actions and the actions of the nonconforming ballerinas, the author uses more complex and more
involved sentence lengths. In the story, Vonnegut describes the ballerinas as they dance together with
Harrison, stating, Harrison and his Empress merely listened to the music for a while listened gravely,
as though synchronizing their heartbeats with it. They shifted their weights to their toes. Harrison
placed his big hands on the girl s tiny waist, letting her sense the weightlessness that would soon be
hers. And then, in an explosion of joy and grace, into the air they sprang! Not only were the laws of
the land abandoned, but the law of gravity and the laws of motion as well. They reeled, whirled,

Racism In Television Shows
Girls is a currently running HBO original show, initially premiering in 2012, which has been critically
acclaimed as a modern day reproduction of HBO s 90 s cult classic, Sex and the City. Both series are
set in the boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn and Manhattan respectively, while revolving around
two sets of all female friend groups, each composed of four intricately sophisticated women in various
stages of their adult life. While both shows successfully highlight the complexity of managing the
nuances of everyday life while juggling personal relationships, Girls and Sex and the City fail
miserably at representing ethnic minorities equally within the diegetic worlds of their show, ultimately

The white girl issues Carrie Bradshaw of Manhattan faced on the daily weren t relatable to the brown
girl from Queens or the Latina girl from the Bronx. Girls was thought to be a resolution to an
unanswered problem from the past in a new era, yet the show reverted back to the same methods as its
predecessor. Hannah Horvath and her friends only depicted what life was like in New York City for a
very specific group of young women. The question to ask when writing about fictional characters set
in real world settings is this: how will an audience be able to distinguish within the show what is
dramatized fiction versus an observed reality (hooks)? We, as human beings, innately choose to
believe what we see. The more the fictional worlds on television resemble our own, the more likely
we are to accept its creations as our own reality. Television promotes racial stereotypes, racial

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Black Community
Throughout the history of motion pictures, prejudice directors have used film to control how the
general public views certain demographics of people. In particular, the black community has
historically been viewed in a negative light. Stereotypes were created through literature and film that
still affect African Americans. Directors and writers would create relatable stories and attach
demeaning traits to black people that have qualities in common with Black Americans. This would
force readers and viewers to subconsciously attach these stereotypes black people. Examples of these
stereotypes can be found in Uncle Tom s Cabin and The Birth of a Nation. Derogatory terms such as

Essay on Shakespeare s Macbeth as a Tragic Hero
Macbeth as a Tragic Hero
According to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, The best tragic plot moves the hero from prosperity to
misfortune, occasioned not by depravity, but by some great mistake he makes. The plot of Macbeth
follows these basic guidelines; throughout the play we follow the path of the main character as his life
is torn apart as a result of the colossal mistake he makes when he kills Duncan. It is for this and the
many ensuing reasons that we can say that Macbeth accurately portrays the image of a tragic hero as
outlined by Aristotle.
Aristotle s first guideline for an effective tragic hero is someone that is basically good. While Macbeth

fears... At this point in the play the audience has almost lost sight of Macbeth as a real person, his cold
blooded murders disgust us so much that that he becomes something too bile to possibly be human.
We believe that no human could possibly act with the harsh brutality that Macbeth acts with, and so
becomes in imagination, some evil external force that can no longer be related to as a human
individual. However, when Macbeth says these words, he is opening himself up to the fact that he is
still human. The audience realizes that since he can still feel fear, which is a human emotion, he must

for the tragic hero because both parties realize that the end is near in sight. For a brief second we

Romantic Emotionism In Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock
Most of life s moments have little import. Each day often screams no more of significance than the
day preceding. There are a few moments throughout life that manage to contain, within themselves,
the power to change the course of one s life, but more often than not, the moments we give importance
to are fairly trivial events, changing or altering nothing more than any other day. We find that those
more common moments are created by culture, cultivated in a society that believes that something
about a day or a time though nothing significant changes, like birthdays demarking a specific time on
a continuum makes it special. This same brand of cultural elevation affects physical features and
infrequent, though insignificant still, actions. Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock charts that
influence in society and, with verse dripping with wit, questions what we hold dear. The Rape of the
Lock is written as a heroic Romantic poem, dealing in turns with romance and violence. Canto Three
is perhaps Pope s best encapsulation of Romantic passion in the poem. The card game is told a conflict
between semi personified cards and their players, Belinda and the Baron. Pope seems to enthrall the
reader when [t]he hoary Majesty of Spades appears and pushes us to hold our breaths when [t]he

German group named Osmotic Studios. The game idea was directly encouraged by a surveillance
program named PRISM which disclosure by a Central Intelligence Agency employee Edward
Snowden in 2014. His PowerPoint slides showed that the United States National Security Agency
collected internet communications information from nine internet companies through this program
since 2007 (Gellman Poitras, 2013), the range is not limited to the United States but ... Show more

Even if this Orwell system looks so terrible, however the original intention of creating this system was
good. With players exploring of the game and collecting the information that drawn from textual
clues, they will know the truth and history of this surveillance system. The creator of Orwell set two
human elements position to achieve mutual constraint and also aim to restrict Orwell s power. One
element is investigator, which is the role of players, they only can investigate all the personal
information, personal accounts and electronic equipment of target persons, and then select the
suspicious information to submit. Another element is advisor who is a government insider and cannot
get any information of target person. They only know some key information that submitted by
investigator and they will speculate to track down a criminal by analyzing these information. But
actually this mutual constraint cannot get to the expected effect. Because investigator only can
investigate target person who is recognized as potential danger, however it is hard to define potential .
Finally more and more person added to the target list, Orwell become to a surveillance network which
spy on every citizen. Turning now to the question of the connection between game and dystopian
thoughts. Dystopian thoughts are parts of game narrative, according to Jenkins game narrative concept
(2004), games create a precondition for an immersive narrative experience by

Summary Of Happiness In The Garden Of Epicurus
In an ancient Greek proverb that goes as follows Everything in Moderation the concept of balancing
the aspects of one s life is championed. Epicurus offers an almost entirely contradictory life
philosophy with serene hedonism as is explored in the article Happiness in the Garden of Epicurus.
Serene Hedonism offers the perspective that the only truly valuable thing in life is that of pleasure
while this philosophy initially may sound appealing it lacks any development in a meaningful purpose
for an individual other than maximizing pleasures of the senses. The largest counter to this argument
exists in the question on whether or not one would trade there life with that of a clam who is
experiencing constant euphoria, and through this argument

Racism And Hate Exposed In The Pogrom Against The Jews
In the Pogrom against the Jews, there is an incredible underlying tone of pure hate and racism. Clearly
they do not wish to taint the Russian Blood that makes up their civilization. The thought of any Jews
interrupting their day of the lord on Easter was greatly frowned upon and would likely result in a
massacre according to the script. A sense of irony is present when they talk about the Jews and their
hatred towards them and their lord and savior, when he himself was a Jew. They strongly believed that
any other race or religion that came into their country would taint everything that their hard working
Christians had built up. They had a very specific way that they all Intended to run Russia and keep its
political status. The center of

Immigration And Citizenship
Immigration and Citizenship in Ancient Rome and Today An issue that has always been of concern in
America is that of Immigration, and citizenship. The United States has at times been a blessed
sanctuary for those of foreign nationalities, and has at others been an unwelcoming, ostracizing place.
However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have been an
alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said about the rights
and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and freedoms of Rome
and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large masses the way that the
United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of how exactly to go about
allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation. Ancient Rome had very clear
regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States does as well. If one were a person
living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700 B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many
ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard stories of a warring nation, within
which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil rights for the time, and rich commerce,
one may simply live near the nation, and have found yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be
the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty which Rome has just conquered. In any of these

Henry Ford In Brave New World Essay
Henry Ford in Brave New World Aldous Huxley wrote Brave New World in 1932. Brave New World
is set in London, in AD 2540. The novel shows life in a utopia where there is advanced reproductive
technology, class conditioning and sleep learning. Everyone is happy in Brave New World and if they
start to become unhappy, they can take a drug called soma. Henry Ford is considered the God. Henry
Ford is an appropriate God figure because he was the leading industry person of his time, Brave New
Word is about technology and the people of the World State are like the parts of a factory.
Henry Ford played a large role in the American Industrial Revolution. Ford was born in 1863 and by
the age of 45, he completely changed the American Auto Industry. Ford ... Show more content on

We have the World State now. And Ford s Day celebrations, and Community Sings, and Solidarity
Services (Huxley 52). The new world is called the World State. In the World State there are no parents
everyone is created in a test tube. They are raised in the Central London Hatchery until they can
survive on their own and then they get their job and go into the world. Everyone is conditioned to be
in a certain caste and do certain job. The castes are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, or Epsilon. Alphas are
conditioned to be leaders and attractive. Each caste you go down is less attractive and intellectual. The
Epsilon are conditioned to do harshest jobs and are deprived of oxygen as embryos, therefore they are
not very smart. At the hatchery they use hypnopaedic which is sleep teaching, so the children will
learn the morals of the World State. There is no aging in this world, they all take pills to keep them
young and once they reach a certain age they die. In Brave New World, it is seen odd to have real
relationships with people. The people are all very promiscuous, and it is seen odd to be with the same
person for more than a couple weeks. In order for everyone to stay happy, they take a drug called
soma. Soma is a narcotic drug that makes you feel like you are in another

Taking a Look at Pneumonias
Pneumonias are respiratory infections that lead to inflammation of the lung structures such as the
alveoli and the bronchioles (Porth, 2011). It is also a significant cause of morbidity and mortality
among all age groups. The very young, the very old or those with chronic disease are more susceptible
to the disease. According to Driver (2012), 1.4 million people die each year because of pneumonia.
Pneumonias are categorized based on where the infection is acquired, types of organisms that cause
the infection, and the location of the lung that infection occurs. The presence of signs and symptoms
depends on types of pneumonia and hosts defense mechanisms and is the result of the destruction of
the alveoli and impairment of gas exchange. Types of Pneumonias Pneumonias are respiratory
infections that lead to inflammation of the lung structures such as the alveoli and the bronchioles.
There are many types of pneumonias and their classifications depend on the source of infection, types
of organisms, and the area in the lung (Porth, 2011). Community acquired pneumonia occurs when a
person gets pneumonia infection from organisms found in the community. These organisms could be
bacteria or viruses. However, a pneumonia that occurs as a complication in hospital settings such as
post surgery or artificial ventilation is called hospital acquired pneumonia (Driver, 2012). Most
hospital acquired pneumonias are bacterial and difficult to treat since many of them have acquired

Political Proposition 2 Case Study
Against: California Church IMPACT
As I am sure you are aware, the 2014 General Elections are quickly approaching. While there are
many interesting initiatives on the ballot, there is one initiative in particular that could benefit from
your support, as you can from it. Proposition 2 is a bill supported by not only the Democratic and
Republican caucuses, but also by countless organizations and newspapers, including the Howard
Jarvis Taxpayer Association, California Chamber of Commerce, La Opinion, Long Beach Press
Telegram and Los Angeles Times ( Save Your Votes and View Endorsements. ). In addition, some
proponents of the bill are contributors to your campaign, such as the California Chamber of

The passage of Prop 140 in 1990 had unintended consequences for the legislator. Not only did Prop
140 implement term limits to increase turnover in the legislation, but it also reduced funding. The
reduction in funding led to the closure of bi partisan resources, such as the Assembly Office of
Research. The combination of legislators with less experience due to the term limits, and lack of
resources as result of the budget cuts, has dramatically weakened the effectivity of the legislator.
Consequently, the vacuum created by prop 140 has been filled by lobbyist and the Governor. Recent
studies illustrate a significant drop in declines made by the legislator to the Governor s budget since
the implementation of term limits (Kousser). Although Proposition 2 does not directly fix the
unintended consequences of Prop 140, it mitigates some of the negative effects, bringing more balance
between the two branches. Due to the shortcomings of Proposition 58, the governor has much
discretion in handling California debt, whereas Prop 2 calls for a mandatory 1.5% of the budget.
Additionally, Proposition 2 mandates that scheduled fund transfers can only be repealed if the
Governor calls a state of emergency and gains approval of the legislator. Requiring approval of the
legislators not only empowers legislators attempting to cope the debt crisis, but also prevents a

Profit And Non Profit Organizations
Profit and Non profit organizations make up the core of American business culture and charitable
services. Nonprofits organizations like The American Kidney depend on donations and grants from
individuals, government supplements, and corporations. For profit organizations like The Dallas
Opera depends on revenue from sales and contributions to meet the needs of their mission. While both
The American Kidney Fund and The Dallas Opera have different corporate cultures that require
support from outside sources, they each must display ethical values to support the financial needs of
the institution; and to the recipients of services provided. In this, both companies set a mission and
company profile to display to illustrate why their organizations are worthy of financial support and
outreach from the community.
The American Kidney Fund (AKF) was founded in 1971, to help any single individual with kidney
failure pay for dialysis. More than 40 years later, AKF has become the leading source of direct
financial aid to dialysis patients across the nation. The American Kidney Fund leads the nation in
providing charitable assistance to dialysis patients who need help with the costs associated with
treating kidney failure. The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is a major publicly supported 501(c)(3)
non profit organization. AKF is provides treatment related financial assistance to dialysis patients and

What Is The Importance Of African Music
Spencer Rubinoff
History of Africa
12/4/17
African Music
African Music Traditionally, music has played a very important role in Africa s culture and history. If
you observe any part of the culture you can see that music is essential in representing their heritage.
Unlike most cultures today, ancient African cultures brought music into their lives every day. Music
also helps with African story telling, dance, and even religious practices. Music is especially important
for African dance because in some cultures there is not even a spoken language, they tell their stories
through songs and dance. When discussing the impact of music in Africa it is important to also
mention the power of dance as well.
In the African culture, music and dance mean so much more than just something done for a good time,
it has a much greater purpose. In the African culture, a dance is usually done by a group and usually
for a specific purpose. That being said, having a group of people means that these tribes run with
utilitarianism. The idea of Utilitarianism suggests that the value of a thing depends on its use, and not
its beauty. In many ways, African music is a utilitarian function used in vital aspects of life such as, a
child s naming ceremony (The Importance of Music in the African Culture: More Than Just a song).
This list could also include initiation rites, agricultural activities, national ceremonies, war times,
religious ceremonies and ceremonies for the dead. Indigenous tribe s

  • 2. Summary Of Martin Luther King Jr And Malcom X Civil rights was a much larger issue during the time in which Martin Luther King Jr was alive and he is one of the most known peaceful protestors. It is easy to forget that at one point African Americans were not equal as we live in a society where no one really pays attention to skin color anymore. However, we do not learn enough about the struggles that the negros had to endure in order to get to where they are today. Back in the day everything was segregated even things like schools, drinking fountains, and places on public transportation. Even bathrooms were labeled with oppressing words like Colored Only and Whites Only and no one even thought twice about it. Two main men who had similar goals to gain basic human rights were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. These men were similar in their goals, but differ in the ways in which they pursued those goals and it is without a doubt that Martin Luther King Jr has a better method to obtaining civil rights. The major thing that the two men had in common was that they disagreed with colored people being denied jobs simply for having the wrong skin tone. This is important to understand as it is central to both arguments and action that these two men took. There were certain companies who were big businesses that did not hire indiviudals of color simply because they were white and probably racist. Similarly, this quote taken from author Anne Marie Aguilar emphasizes this paper s argument that the concept of a smart city has positive, but also negative impacts, such as generating class division and social inequality. However, because attention is directed towards the positive effects, this often leads one to overlook the primarily negative influence of this phenomenon. To start with, we define a smart city as a city in which ICT is merged with traditional infrastructures, coordinated and integrated using new digital technologies , (Batty, 2012). A real world example of this would be India, where its government has announced their Smart Cities Mission ( 2nd smart cities, 2015). Eventually this category of cities will lead to social inequality and exclusion, as companies, and cities focus on those who can pay to generate profits, while ignore the social benefit of the predominant lower class citizens of India. And finally, this exclusion, will add to the digital divide in India as a result of the unequal access to modern information, communication and technology, something a smart city revolves around. Furthermore a smart city s focus is to enable more efficient forms of urban management and service delivery ; however, this city leads to more than just that (Smith, 2015). • 22. Romantic Emotionism In Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock Most of life s moments have little import. Each day often screams no more of significance than the day preceding. There are a few moments throughout life that manage to contain, within themselves, the power to change the course of one s life, but more often than not, the moments we give importance to are fairly trivial events, changing or altering nothing more than any other day. We find that those more common moments are created by culture, cultivated in a society that believes that something about a day or a time though nothing significant changes, like birthdays demarking a specific time on a continuum makes it special. This same brand of cultural elevation affects physical features and infrequent, though insignificant still, actions. However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have been an alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said about the rights and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and freedoms of Rome and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large masses the way that the United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of how exactly to go about allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation. Ancient Rome had very clear regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States does as well. If one were a person living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700 B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard stories of a warring nation, within which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil rights for the time, and rich commerce, one may simply live near the nation, and have found yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty which Rome has just conquered. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passage of Prop 140 in 1990 had unintended consequences for the legislator. Not only did Prop 140 implement term limits to increase turnover in the legislation, but it also reduced funding. The reduction in funding led to the closure of bi partisan resources, such as the Assembly Office of Research. The combination of legislators with less experience due to the term limits, and lack of resources as result of the budget cuts, has dramatically weakened the effectivity of the legislator. Consequently, the vacuum created by prop 140 has been filled by lobbyist and the Governor. Recent studies illustrate a significant drop in declines made by the legislator to the Governor s budget since the implementation of term limits (Kousser). Although Proposition 2 does not directly fix the unintended consequences of Prop 140, it mitigates some of the negative effects, bringing more balance between the two branches. Due to the shortcomings of Proposition 58, the governor has much discretion in handling California debt, whereas Prop 2 calls for a mandatory 1.5% of the budget. Additionally, Proposition 2 mandates that scheduled fund transfers can only be repealed if the Governor calls a state of emergency and gains approval of the legislator. Requiring approval of the legislators not only empowers legislators attempting to cope the debt crisis, but also prevents a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you observe any part of the culture you can see that music is essential in representing their heritage. Unlike most cultures today, ancient African cultures brought music into their lives every day. Music also helps with African story telling, dance, and even religious practices. Music is especially important for African dance because in some cultures there is not even a spoken language, they tell their stories through songs and dance. When discussing the impact of music in Africa it is important to also mention the power of dance as well. In the African culture, music and dance mean so much more than just something done for a good time, it has a much greater purpose. In the African culture, a dance is usually done by a group and usually for a specific purpose. That being said, having a group of people means that these tribes run with utilitarianism. The idea of Utilitarianism suggests that the value of a thing depends on its use, and not its beauty. In many ways, African music is a utilitarian function used in vital aspects of life such as, a child s naming ceremony (The Importance of Music in the African Culture: More Than Just a song). This list could also include initiation rites, agricultural activities, national ceremonies, war times, religious ceremonies and ceremonies for the dead. Indigenous tribe s ...
