2. Daisy Miller by Henry James
There is an importance of the international theme that helps people better understand
the differences of American and European culture. When these two cultures clash,
this leads to understanding just how different Americans are from their European
counterparts. Even though the international theme helps one find the differences in
the continent and country, it also enables one to note the significant evilness that
Europepossesses. There are so many distinctions that Europeans and Americans that
they just might not see the picture of what Daisy Miller is about. The characters that
Henry Jameswrites about in Daisy Miller come across as being innocent, free, and
fresh. This can only be said for the American characters. There were always sentences
that make Europeans seem like they are snobby and corrupt. There is that little hint of
sophistication. One would assume that this comes with the territory.
When Daisy and her family are in Europe, they represent the New World element in
the Old World. The protagonist, Daisy Miller, is beautiful and charming. She is
unlike anybody else in Europe because all of the other people act mature and
somewhat boring. She is just a free spirit that tries to incorporate as much of the
European element as much as she possibly can. Her way of doing so is a bit
unusual to the locals, but this is the way that she wants to spend her time in Europe.
Because she choses to do so, she is unappreciated in terms of the how the Europeans
want her to act
3. Underworld Comparison Essay
Underworld Comparison
There are several theories about what happens after we perish. Many thoughts can
be made about where we go or who and even what we turn into but there are so
many possibilities on what actually happens. Coming up with one specific theory is
not easy, but I have come to the conclusion that my belief is after we die, we come
back as something else. Reincarnation is a debatable topic on rather you believe the
rules behind it or not. My theory is that we come back as perhaps another person in
a completely different body with no memory of what happened in your past.
Several ideas have been made such as how we all have birthmarks that can
conclude how we die in our past life. If you have a birthmark on your back then that
could be how you died. Some similarities between my beliefs and Greeks beliefs is
the journey that contradicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Greeks believed that the importance of where you go depends on the manner of
your death, the behavior you had while still alive and how you were buried could
affect where or what happens to you. This is similar to reincarnation because ideas
are that the way you act while you are alive, conclude what type of person you are
in the future. The way you are buried affect what type of person you become in
your future life, such as rather you are buried or cremated. The differences
between the Greeks thoughts and mine are that when you die in the Greeks
thought, you go to the Underworld if you were judged to be bad and if you were
good you went to Elysium. In reincarnation, some people can go to different places
or you can be reincarnated. Another difference is that the Greeks believed in the
underworld, if you traveled there your loved ones would be there and available to
talk to. With reincarnation you are reborn into a completely different life and are
unaware of who your past family was or any relation to your past life

Flivver King Writing Assignment
Zack Seymour
US 102/ Professor Ward
The Flivver King by Upton Sinclair tackles many social issues that were coming to
be in the early 1900 s. Upton Sinclair used fictional characters in his book to depict
how society viewed the rise of Ford and other enterprises. As a muckraker Sinclair
had meaning behind every character and action in this book. His goal was to expose
corporate enterprises for the crimes (no socialism or unionization) they had been
committing. Based upon his book, Upton Sinclair would have had many answers
why there was no socialism or unionization in the United States. His first answer
would be corporate corruption. Big enterprises at this time only cared about their own
profits not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upton Sinclair felt that our nation at this time needed to establish a strong union
where the workers can actually get help from a stronger organization when going
against the corporations. Sinclair wanted a strong Union to help workers get what
he feels they deserve, instead of terrible jobs. The reason why there is no strong
presence of a labor union in this country is because of the risk that it presented for
workers at the time. In the Flivver King, Henry Ford used thugs and goons to
intimidate people from not bringing the any kind of union into his company.
Upton Sinclair said this in the book, as a beleaguered American socialist in a
society that is generally unsympathetic to the plight of the less fortunate, Sinclair
pondered the question of why Socialism did not gain a foothold in the minds of the
American workers. (Sinclair, Preface viii, xi) This passage shows the mindsets of
the factory workers at the time prevented a chance and at a strong labor union.
Sinclair feels that if the American workforce could have embraced a more socialist
mindset, there could have been some kind of organization to protect them from
being exploited and possibly fired just by mentioning the very idea of trying to start
or join anything like a union. Other issues pointed out by Sinclair were workers
being killed by various factors like poor or unsafe work
5. Legal Studies Essay- the Role of the Nation State in...
A) Explain the role of nation states in achieving World Order.
World Order is a necessity in modern day society, for if it did not exist we would be
faced with international anarchy. A nation state acts individually, therefore meaning
that it can either choose to embrace Human Rights and international laws, or ignore
them.
World Order is known as being the creation of global relationships and maintenance
of world peace. It also governs the relationships between nation states and other
global participants.
World Order exists so that world conflict and global destruction doesn t. Not only this,
but World Order works through relations between countries, meaning that no nation

A government sends delegates to represent them at conferences and/or meetings of
international organizations. Only when a nation state agrees to the conditions and
agrees to abide by the terms set out in the treaty are they eligible to sign it. By
becoming a signatory it is then necessary to implement those conditions into
legislation and law to be adhered to within that signatories land.
In order to ratify these laws it must then go through the parliamentary process so that
it can become an enforceable law. An advantage of nation states is that from the UN,
the two covenants of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
(ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
(ICESCR) 1966, allow for countries that are democratic to be accounted for, but also
for countries such as China that are not democratic to be covered as well. For
example in Australia, our sovereignty is used to enhance World Order. It is done so
through becoming a signatory of the covenant, and then ratifying this covenant in
order to turn it into domestic law. Australia also supports the International Criminal
Court (ICC), and participates in UN Peacekeeping, which further enhances World
Order through promoting global peace.
The Australian Federal Government (AFP) uses its powers to support the UN by
using its political power to sign off on treaties, and supports World Peace internally

In his essay, Stan tells the story of Christmas Eve in 1989 shortly after the Romanian
revolution, and the sacrifice he made for his eight year old brother. Before Stan even
thought about the sacrifice, he was heading to the movie theater with a few friends.
They heard oranges were available for purchase today, and Stan starts thinking about
oranges for Christmas. Hundreds of people are willing to wait in line for just one
orange, a very rare treat in war torn Romania. Next, Stan changed his mind about
the movie and decided to amaze his younger brother with oranges. The younger
brother has never seen or touched an orange before. It was an incredible sight,
seeing boxes of oranges stacked as tall as Stan at the rear entrance of the grocery

shows him that you love him, but also that you care for him. Next, are the
sacrifices that require planning ahead. Helping at the Knights of Columbus

7. I Am Charlotte Simmons Character Analysis
In I am Charlotte Simmons, Tom Wolfe accurately portrays modern day college life
through his exploration of the complexities of sexual relationships, academics, and
morality as they relate to social status. Through Charlotte Simmons character and the
people with whom she interacts, Wolfe asserts that sexual relationships are crucial
to an individual s social status. This becomes immediately evident to Charlotte
when she gets to Dupont. After being at Dupont for only a few weeks, Charlotte is
kicked out of her room at 2:00 in the morning by her roommate, Beverly because
Beverly wants to have sex with a boy she met; in other words, Charlotte is sexiled.

Throughout the novel, it is apparent the most popular people are the ones with the
lowest moral standards. This is evidenced through the negative relationship between
Charlotte s declining morals and social ascension. When Charlotte first arrives at
Dupont, she is appalled by alcohol and anything related to sex. As the book
progresses, however, Charlotte changes. Soon after Charlotte becomes friends with
Bettina and Mimi, however, she goes to the frat party where she meets Hoyt. Until
this point, Charlotte stayed completely away from alcohol and was could not
believe grinding was considered an acceptable thing to do in public. At this party,
however, Hoyt easily convinces her to drink wine. After this Charlotte realizes that
the more she drinks, the more fun she has, and the more people like her. This became
clear less than three months later at the Saint Ray formal when Charlotte gets drunk
and has sex with Hoyt, completely going against everything she believed in when she
started school.
The relationship between morality and social status is also evident with the guys in
Saint Ray and the basketball players. They are the most popular people at Dupont,
and they curse, drink too much alcohol, and have sex. Though she began her time at
Dupont innocent and convinced she is Charlotte Simmons, not to be influenced by
other people, the more Charlotte is exposed to this lifestyle, the more she embraces

Try to relieve the pressure on the jar.
Tip #3
Here is another tip to open that most stubborn jar. Take a cloth, a rubber glove or

Tip #5
One of my favorite tricks to open a jar that is being so stubborn, is to take a tennis

There are websites where you fill a form with the details of the cruise you are

agents charge a fee when they meet with you to discuss the details of the cruise. This

Analyze the total costs
Finding a cruise that is very cheap but doesn t include the additional fees is not

package is affordable, having to pay for service fees or port charges is not
something you want. This is why you must analyze the package very well and ask

case of failure of the data nodes, the name node knows which data node has failed
since that particular data node will not report back in time to the name node. The
name node also knows where the data that is supplied to the data node has gone
redundantly to the other data node. Therefore the job still goes to completion even
though a couple of data nodes fail in the big data processing. Since the Hadoop
MapReduce framework is master slave architecture there is a chance of single point
failure. The single point failure occurs when the name node itself fails. In that case
there is also a presence of secondary name node that place in the event of single point

15. Analysis Of Chasing The Lolly Man
Bertolt Brecht once said, art is not a mirror with which to reflect reality but a hammer
with which to shape it (BBC, 2017). This forms the fundamentals of Brechtian theatre
as it aims not only to show the world as it is, but to challenge, empower and educate
audiences to evoke change. Chasing the Lolly Man, is a one man show devised by
Mark Sheppard and directed by Liz Skitch. The performance utilises the powerful
medium of Brechtian theatre in order to portray dramatic meaning. Throughout the
performance Sheppard utilises Brechtian theatre conventions to discuss issues
surrounding aboriginal identity and culture. The successful use of Brechtian
conventions along with the dramatic elements enables the audience to become aware
of the impact that first settlers had on the aboriginal people. This effectively brings to
attention the journey to reclaim aboriginal identity accepting the convergence of
modern and traditional aboriginal culture. The dramatic meaning is successfully
highlighted by the generation of multiple roles enabling the successful creation of
symbolism. Through the professor and the chef roles, the actor clearly created and
switched between roles to bring awareness to the dramatic meaning. An example of
multiple roles was in the professor scene where the professor describes the road to
reconciliation. In this role the actors straight and stiff posture, down ward glancing
and overexaggerated condescending tone assisted in the creation of character. This

factors that might explain the differences in the rates for example unemployment, the

21. The History of Health and Safety Legislation in the UK
The history of health and safety legislation in the UK is like a patchwork quilt
with a large number of distinct pieces of legislation going back in ancient time.
One of these patchworks is CDM regulations. The following is coverage of analysis
that explain the role and duties of designers and analysis of sources of design
liability. The duties and regulations are as explained below.
Designers must evade predictable dangers to those included in the development and
future utilization of the structure. Architects must dispose of dangers so far as is
sensibly down to earth, and after that lessen the danger connected with perils that
remain. Architects should likewise give sufficient data about any critical dangers
connected with their configuration and co ordinate their work with that of others so
as to enhance the route in which dangers are controlled. Planners must verify that
they are capable and satisfactorily resourced to address the wellbeing and security
issues liable to be included in the configuration. Planners are frequently the first
purpose of contact for a customer. The CDM Regulations 2007 oblige fashioners to
watch that customers are mindful of their obligations under the Regulations. It is the
obligation of the fashioner who has the introductory contact with the customer. Early
arrangement of the CDM Co coordinator is urgent for powerful arranging and making
administration courses of action from the beginning. The regulations require the
arrangement to happen
22. I Am Not My Hair
It was December 2006, I was nine years old, and that was the first time I had ever
heard India Arie s songs; Video I Am Not My Hair . While both of these songs are
inspired by rhythm blues, and Neo Soul, their overarching meanings are somewhat
different. Video , is a powerful self love anthem; in this song, India Arie celebrates
who she is naturally, and acknowledges that she would not change who she is. I Am
Not My Hairis more complex because while it acknowledges the versatility of
Black hair, it also pushes the idea that one s hair does not define who you are as a
person. While I Am Not My Hair seems to push Black hairstyles to the background,
I want to argue that both I Am Not My Hair and Video are songs that celebrate the
idea that black is beautiful . In this paper, by focusing on, India Arie s references to
black hair and self love, I intend to draw connections between these two songs and
the Civil Rights/Black Power movements as well as the concept that black is
beautiful. To draw these connections, I will focus on Nina Simone s song, Black is
the Color of My True Love s Hair . Does I Am Not My Hair take away from the
symbol that the Afro was during the 1960 s, representing black is beautiful? What
can be understood by India Arie writing these two songs during a time when it
appeared that blackness was not as celebrated? How is this similar or different from
Nina Simone s song? In this paper, I will focus on these questions in order to analyze
23. Cmo Case Study
Millions of leased vehicles are turned in each year, providing used car shoppers
with an opportunity to snag a deal on an off lease vehicle. In recent years,
inventory has crept up as manufacturers use affordable lease deals to build sales.
Fat inventories are worrisome and costly to manufacturers, but potentially offer
sweet deals for consumers provided you know where to look for them. About CPO
Vehicles When customers turn in leased deals, most end up on dealer lots for resale.
A much smaller number may head to auction. So called off lease vehicles may look
like other used cars and for all intents and purposes they are. But they also represent

If you visit the manufacturer s website looking for CPO offers, you may find a
number of warranty changes in place, including extending the powertrain warranty.
Volvo, for instance, extends its powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles from 50,000
miles for its CPO fleet. Similarly, Nissan extends its 60,000 mile powertrain
warranty to 100,000 miles. But the warranty enhancements rarely stop there. Most
used car buyers are looking for some type of maintenance coverage going well
beyond the 90 day, 4,000 mile warranty on older used vehicles. For example,
Volkswagen extends its comprehensive warranty by two years or 24,000 miles,
whichever comes first. They also kick in roadside assistance for two years and
provide a three month SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription. Mini s CPO deal
is also for two years, but for up to 50,000 miles. 2. Financing Deals It isn t enough
for manufacturers to offer warranties, they need to present financing offers to help
move inventory. These change regularly, usually every month, and may cover
entire CPO inventories or select models. For example, Nissan offers 1.95 percent
financing for 36 months or 3.95 percent financing for 72 months on CPO inventory.
These rates are several points lower than what most banks and some credit unions
offer, and are reserved for customers with top credit. You should know that if you re
not eligible for promotional financing, a loan at a higher rate may still be available.

24. Analysis Of Porter s Five Forces
Nowadays, organizations is facing rapid change to the business environment where it
becomes more complex than it were before. Indeed, these situation means that
businesses need to find strategy to analyzing the implications of these changes and
modifying the organizations reaction itself towards these situation. The strategies that
the organization will apply also require gaining a complete understanding of the
external environment of the organization. While understanding the macro
environment of the business is important, organization also need to have great
understanding of the competitors and the impact they will bring to the organization
(Dobbs, 2014). In 1979, Michael E. Porter, a Harvard Business Schoolstudent
introduced five key forces that determined the essential appeal of a business sector
in a long run (Schachter, 2012). Porter s Five Forces is a framework that analyzes
and identifies strategy of an industry, and also determines the weakness and strength
of an industry, where the activities of the competitors also involved. Porter s Five
Forces is cover understanding strategy of bargaining power of supplier, bargaining
power of buyer, competitive rivalry, threat of substitution, and lastly threat of new
entry. In addition, by having good understanding where the power rely on,
businesses may take advantage by gaining strength or improve the weakness and
evade taking wrong decision. Porter s Five Forces will help organizations to define
the market properly and
25. The Battle Against Grendel s Mother
Beowulf sets his sights towards Grendel s mother shortly after the second attack
on Heorot. Grendel s mother is similarly linked to Cain just as her son was.
According to the selection, it is said that after Cain was cast away by God, his mark
of murder followed him. Everywhere Cain walked, monsters and shadows arose from
the ground in which Grendel s mother is a result of. It is interesting to note that the
story of Beowulfeffortlessly contorted the Christian story of Cain by adding Pagan
influences such as monsters. Nonetheless, like previous battles, the fight against
Grendel s mother was a result of vengeance. Grendel s mother lived miserably in
dark, monster infested waters, but caused no harm until the death of her son whom
she was obligated to avenge. Soon after her introduction into the story, the reader is
informed that she injured many, but it was the murder of the king s closest advisor
that was most troubling . As one can imagine vengeance is necessary to bring justice
to the situation even though the Pagan principle of vengeance defies Christian
ideals. The characters in the story understand that this fiend is no weak one, and
they offer Beowulf gear in preparation for the battle. As Beowulf prepares to avenge
the death of the king s advisor, he is given Hrunting, a special sword. This once again
introduces another Pagan element. As the aforementioned, Paganism strongly
believed in magical entities; special swords are no exception. Hrunting was

Brown v. The Board of Education Topeka, Kansas, 1950, a young African
American girl named Linda Brown had to walk a mile to get to her school,
crossing a railroad switchyard. She lived seven blocks from an all white school.
Linda s father, Oliver, tried to enroll her into the all white school. The school

our nation. Blacks believed that the separate but equal saying was false. They felt
that whites had more educational opportunities. Mr. Brown, along with the NAACP
and many civic leaders, fought for equal educational rights for all races. Brown v.
The Board of Education case and the events leading up to it had a positive effect on
education and society. Community events in our country leading up to the Brown v.
The Board of Education case were segregated. The Plessy v. Ferguson decision of
1896 made segregation stronger with the separate but equal doctrine. Blacks and
whites are separated in all areas of society, including education( Supreme Court
Decisions ). Segregation in schools existed throughout the nation. While segregated
schools were legal, they were never equal(Walker). There was a lack of educational
and equal rights in African American communist(Walker). By the 1950 s, the African
American communities were fed up with not having the same educational rights and
opportunities as white americans. An African American team, lead by Thurgood
Marshall, won several cases involving

In imaging science, image processing is processing of images using mathematical
operations by using any conformation of signal processing for which the input is an
image, such as a picture or video frame, the out turn of image processing may be
either an image or a set of features or parameters corrsponding to the image. Most
image processing techniques implicate treating the image as a 2D signal and
appealing worth signal processing techniques to it.
Image processing usually refers to digital image processing, but optical and analog
image processing also are possible. This article is about general techniques that
apply to all of them. The acquisition of images (producing the input image in the first
place) is referred to as imaging.
Closely related to image processing are computer graphics and computer vision. In
computer graphics, images are manually made from physical models of objects,
environments, and lighting, instead of being acquired (via imaging devices such as
cameras) from natural scenes, as in most animated movies. Computer vision, on the
other hand, is often considered high level image processing out of which a machine
/computer/software intends to decipher the physical contents of an image or a
sequence of images (e.g., videos or 3D full body magnetic resonance scans).
In modern sciences and technologies, images also gain much broader scopes due to
the ever growing importance of scientific visualization (of often large scale complex

In response, two German Dominican Inquisitors named Sprenger and Kramer wrote
The Malleus Maleficarum. The book prepared strategies for the use of torture to
uncover lies while also informing and alerting the public to the presence of witches
and how to identify one. Like demons, witches possess tremendous power, but these
powers can easily be explained away as natural events, however, during the 15th and
16th centuries these powers were very real and often included events such as: stealing
infants, perceptions of future events, illusions, killing people by sight or touch, cause
disease, kill crops, influence judges or magistrates, summoning storms or foul
weather, impede procreation and carnal acts with incubi to produce more witches.
Sixteenth and seventeenth century discussions of witchcraft always insisted that a
pact with the devil lay behind witchcraft, although this pact was sometimes only tacit
or implied. These pacts were created through a pact with the devil himself, through a
ceremony called a Sabbath or using the powers yourself to inflict harm on

The Mysterious Stonehenge The Stonehenge, built thousands of years ago, is a
mystery to us all. How did it get there? Who built it and why? Was it aliens that
brought this here? Everyone has questions and theories regarding this amazing
structure. Through rigorous research and countless unearthing s, of forgotten stones
and even human remains, people have always been insanely curious as to how these
stones were placed, why, and by who. The mystery of the Stonehengeis just that, a
mystery. With an abundant amount of history behind these stones, it is something
to be discussed for ages. So how did these stones appear? With no modern
technology such as cranes and other machinery to lift the immensely heavy stones,
it s no wonder scientists are still stumped to this day. It is believed to have been
once used as a burial ground and also a place for worship. Some archeologists
believe that Stonehenge the mysterious arrangement of enormous elongated stones
in England is actually a crude effort by the Druids to build a computing device.
(David Berry). Other scientists believe it was the Neolithic and Bronze age people of
southern Britain, who inhabited the chalk lands. I believe that unless we have
someone who was around during that time or we have written documentation of what
happened and how the stones were placed, we will truly never know how this
amazing structure was built. What we have discovered
32. Methane Hydrate Formation
There are many challenges that aforementioned two extraction methods are facing,
for example, the permeability of the methane hydrate formation and the ratio between
energy input and output.
Depending on the location, methane hydrate formation exists in various forms. A
certain formation can contain sand as host sediments with methane hydrate mixed
within; similarly, the host sediment can be made of rock, clay, silt, or a mixture of
each. Depending on the composition of the host sediment, the formation has different
mechanical strength, porosity, permeability, degree of saturation and other parameter.
Depending on the location, the permeability of the formation can vary for several
degrees of magnitude. [15] When hot water, steam, or CO2 is ... Show more content

As shown previously, methane hydrate contains 1 mole of methane for every 5.75
mole of water, corresponding to 13.4% methane by mass, in ideal situation. In reality,
this number might be lower. Therefore, the actual energy housed within a methane
hydrate formation is likely to be much lower than that of a conventional gas, coal, or
oil formation with the same volume. Combining with the reality that a methane
hydrate formation can exist with very low methane hydrate saturation (~5%), the
energy housed within such formation will be even lower. Therefore, when extracting
a methane hydrate formation, the maximum energy input for extraction is of
consideration, since if the required input energy is larger than the theoretical output
energy, the whole process will become commercially unfavorable. There is not
enough statistical data to show the net energy output while using thermal injection
method or CO2 injection method. But both of these methods are energy intensive.
For thermal injection method, a constant stream of steam or hot water need to be
produced and injected into the formation. While the constant production of steam or
hot water is already energy intensive, the heat dissipation during injection is also
considerable, since the formations are typically hundreds of meters underneath the
seafloor or hundreds of meters deep in the permafrost. For CO2 injection method, the

33. A Report On The Attack Automation Strategy
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~sunshine/publications/ccr.pdf
1a) An DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) Attack consists of several phases firstly
the attacker recruits multiple agent machines which will be later on infected with the
attack code and further exploited. The infected machines can be used to further
recruit new agents. We can outline those phases as Recruit, Exploit, Infect and Use.
ATTACKAUTOMATION STRATEGY
The attack automation strategy stands for how much of the DDoS attack does an
attacker want to make automatic and how much to leave for manual control. The
strategy depends on the degree of automation of the phases of the attack. There are
three general automation degrees Manual, Automated and Semi Automated which are
explained as follows:
oManual
In that case, the hacker manually recruits machines by scanning remote ones for
vulnerabilities, breaks their security mechanisms, installs the prepared attack code
and then directs the attack. This type of a DDoS Attack has become really outdated
since lately all the recruitment phase has been automated.
Weak design consideration in terms of functionality and productivity.
oSemi Automated
In the Semi Automated DDoS attacks the DDoS network is made of a handler and an
agent machine. There is automation present for the Recruit, Exploit and Infect
phases. Through the communication between the handler and the agent, the attacker
specifies the attack type, the onset, the duration and the victims ID. The

After banishment from Lantern Yard, Silas Marner loses trust in all people and
even God. Poor Marner went out with that despair in his soul that shaken trust in
God and man, which is little short madness to a loving nature (Eliot, 14). Silas
believed that his name would be cleared from the crime he allegedly committed as
he did not challenge the methods used to determine his innocence. Because he
allowed chance to control his life, Silas lost all hope in humanity and barricaded
himself from the outside world. He invited no comer to step across his door still,
and he never strolled into the village to drink a pint at the Rainbow, or to gossip at
the wheelwright. (Eliot, 7). This quote exemplifies Silas mistrust of people and his
isolation from society as it shows Silas had no desire to connect with his neighbors
because he never integrated into his new home, Raveloe. Unknowingly, Silas Marner

The weaver s work became obsessive and soon the loom became equivalent to

36. A Survey On Nosql Database And Relational Database
ABSTRACT
MIN HE. A survey on NoSQL database and relational database. (Under the direction
of DR. JIANPING FAN)
NoSQL database, also called as not only SQL database, is using a different data
storage and retrieval mechanism from the relational tables adopted by traditional
relational database management system. In the sense of CAP (Consistency,
availability and tolerance) theorem, NoSQL database sacrifices some consistency
features to get more availabilities and partition tolerances. In most cases, NoSQL
database systems are distributed and parallel, although the RDBMS is still
dominating the database market, the NoSQL databases are becoming more and more
popular and in a tendency of catching up, especially in the domains of SNS and
major Internet companies, which requires large scale data storage for massively
parallel data processing across a large number of commodity servers. The purpose
of this report is to understand main characteristics of the NoSQL database and
compare the strengths and weaknesses of NoSQL databases over the RDBMS.
NoSQL database has witnessed rapid development since it was first used by Carlo
Strozzi in 1998. Various systems were implemented by using different approaches:
column, document, key value, graph, etc. In this report, I will also present the main
features of those different models and compare their advantages and disadvantages.

The historical battle of Harpers Ferry was a pivotal point during the Civil War. While
the battle was a clear victory on the Confederate front, Union forces could have
changed the outcome with little efforts. This paper analyzes the battle with the intent
of identifying how the application, utilization, or availability of intelligence assets
could have resulted in an alternate outcome. With the proper use of All Source
Intelligence analysis on the Union front, the Battle of Harpers Ferrywould have
played out completely different. While the results of this battle may not have
changed the outcome of the Civil War, it would have affected the timeline of follow
on battles. The structure of this paper is simple, we cover the basics of the battle
and follow up with relevant facts on how proper use of terrain analysis and troop
capabilities affects the outcome of the battle.
During September 9th of 1862 Confederate forces led by Gen. Thomas J.
Stonewall Jackson commanded three divisions with the goal of seizing Harpers
Ferry. At the time Harpers Ferry was a Union occupied town bordering Maryland
and Virginia. For the Union front this was a main arsenal holding area that provided
support to other forces. For the Confederates, they saw it as a major supply line
allowing logistics to travel down south or north through the use of rail road systems.
COL Dixon Miles, the Union commander at Harpers Ferry, received intelligence
about the movement of enemy forces towards his location.

5890...
Jason Lee
Captain Czak
History 300

Cuba
Cuba s current gross national income per person of $5,890 (Talley), enormous debt,
and other poor economic conditions can be explained by events tracing back post
World War II in 1945. The island of Cuba was inhabited by different Mesoamerican
cultures but introduced to European cultures in 1492 with the arrival of Christopher
Columbus. Spain began to colonize Cuba among other Caribbean islands in the 16th
century and utilized the island as a stopping point before the New World. This all
changed when the collapse of Haiti initiated a sugar boom causing Cuba to emerge as
a major world sugar producer. Freedom from Spain was finally gained with the help
of the United States after the Spanish American War when the Treat of Paris was
signed. About three years later, the Platt Amendment was passed which provided the
United States control and great influence in Cuba s domestic and international affairs.
The United States control was further strengthened after World War II when
Fulgencio Batista became President of Cuba in 1952. But this created many issues
which fueled the Cuban Revolution ending in 1959 when Fidel Castro overthrew
Batista, propelling Cuba into a new era of communism. The period of decolonization
for Cuba after World War II sparked a surge of nationalism which helped Fidel Castro
dissolve American political, economic, and diplomatic ties as well as establish a
communist regime after the Cuban Revolution.
39. Challenges In Alice Walker s The Color Purple
Oftentimes in life people go through challenges they must face. This is seen in
Alice Walker s The Color Purple, which is a historical novel that takes place in
Georgia during the Early 20th Century. In this text, Celie a young black girl who is
abused as a child and married to a man transforms into a strong women after facing
her challenges; Nelie, her sister who was also abused with Celie, ran away when
Celie got married. Having no place to go she ends up with a man and his wife,
Samuel and Corrine who are part of a group called missionaries, of American and
African Missionary Society. Multiple characters facechallenges and transform as a
result.
For example, Miss Celie at a young age is affected by a challenge that she faces and
transforms to get past her obstacle. As a child she gets raped by her father so she
developed a fear of men. Celie winked at a boy in her church and gets beat by her
father; she insist that she didn t wink at him. She says, I don t even look at mens...
I look at women, tho, cause I m not scared of them (5 Walker). Since Celie has
negative experiences with men she is only used to the positive experience with her
sister, so she chooses to neglect men. Even after stating this she still gets beat. Celie
faces the challenge of having and Abusive father who doesn t have respect for her. By
not paying attention to what frightens her and stays where she is hloved which is
with women, mainly her sister. This transformation is the result of the challenges she
faced.
Similarly, Sofia, who is married to Harpo starts to feel that her marriage is starting to
change she transforms so she can feel safe and happy. Harpo wants Sofia to listen
and do as he says, but Sophia didn t grow up to obey men; so they get into intense
arguments and fights. When Sophia is talking to Miss Celie she says: I don t like
to go to bed with him no more... Now I feels tired all the time. No Interest (66
Walker). Sophia doesn t find Interest in her marriage because of how Harpo treats
her. The challenge she is facing is a husband doesn t have respect for her and
neglects the fact that Sophia is a strong willed woman. Because of this she lost her
feelings for him so she separates herself from him giving her a space where
40. Analysis Of Maud A Monodrama By Alfred Lord Tennyson
Maud: A Monodrama is the lengthy poem that dominated the first collection
published by Alfred, Lord Tennyson after he became poet laureate. In its rich and
romantic symbolism, it is characteristic of the great poet s work. Notable, also, is its
critique of the hypocrisy and other social failings of Victorian Britain. Maudbecame
one of the best known poems of the period, and continued to be influential even after
its style became dated.
!!!Tennyson and Maud
[{Image src= rossetti_tennysonmaud.jpg alt= Tennyson reading from Maud, 1855 }]
Alfred, Lord Tennyson was a favorite poet of generations. Made Poet Laureate of
Great Britain by Queen Victoria, he dominated the literary scene during his time.
He also came for better and for worse to represent that generation s taste, both
during his life and after it. Tennyson s rich __Victorian language__ can seem
daunting to modern readers. In reading Maud , it s a good idea to just embrace the
exaggerated concepts. Experimental in style, laden with intense symbolism, and full

41. Analysis of Nuclear Terrorism Essay
Nuclear Terrorism is Possible, but Not Probable
Abstract: Terrorist groups constantly strive to obtain a legitimate nuclear warhead.
Iraq spent many years acquiring and constructing nuclear weapons but they were
invaded by the USA before completion of the weapons. Terrorist groups are acquiring
the materials necessary, but they have failed to enrich the nuclear materials to
weapon grade levels. Financial support, time, proper materials, advanced nuclear
reactors, and most importantly, experts in a variety of fields are necessary for the
construction of a nuclear bomb. These components combined make the challenge
very difficult for a terrorist group to succeed. Thus, a nuclear attack from a terrorist
group, however possible, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a basic nuclear weapons only a kilogram of plutonium is needed, but for
terrorist groups without access to advanced nuclear reactors, high levels of
plutonium and uranium must be obtained. Gram quantities of plutonium and
uranium can be purchased on the black market, but much more sizable amounts
must be located (Kamp 1996). Most terrorist groups would prefer to build a gun
type bomb for the nuclear explosion. This usually requires around 100 pounds of
uranium or plutonium. Once this is achieved, it is a great challenge to enrich the
plutonium and uranium to an extremely high grade, known as weapon grade or
bomb grade, necessary for a nuclear bomb. In fact, most seizures from the terrorist
groups are of relatively low grade weapon material and are not enough to fuel a
significant chemical reaction. In order to enrich the materials, terrorist groups must
locate large amounts of specialized gases, such as flourine. These gases are difficult
to purchase from companies due to the potential use of the gases.
Experts in physics, chemistry, electronics, and explosives with the technical know
how of the special apparatus and complex systems must be acquired to conduct the
assembly of the weapons. This is the most delicate and important component because
a successful nuclear explosion demands a complete chemical reaction which is highly
difficult to achieve. Millions of dollars

Later on, in the movie, he accidentally told on his fellow Jews which resulted in
them being killed while he was praised for telling them where the remaining Jews
were. After this, he went to a school where they trained young Nazi s to know how
a Jew looks and how to kill them. They talked about how you can recognize a Jew
by their high head, hooked nose, flat black head, their ears sticks out, the walk like
an ape etc.
At the end of the movie, while in the war between the Nazi s and the Jewish.

they didn t know how to steal weapons and get food. A month after he was caught he
was transferred to a detention camp because he was Jewish. Over the next few

Jews will be leaving. Many people in the camp know the the journey means death.
Chapter 2 is about Levi and the other Jews arriving at Arbeit Macht Frei ( work gives

This book, entitled Prayer for the 21st Century , is by famous Australian writer, John
Marsden. It is an illustrated, poetic ballad, filled with metaphors and complex issues,
written to send messages of hope and warning intended for the people of this new
century, especially those that will shape it (our children), about the lessons learnt
from the past, the importance of today, and the wonders of the future. The font of the
text on the front cover, and throughout the book for that matter, is in an untidy scrawl

promised to come with it. The theme of promised success and the associated
rewards that come as a result is continued in the picture of the map which appears
to be from a time of discovery and conquest of new lands. The various scientific
diagrams are there in order to make the point that there will be an answer to all of
our questions if we work hard, further emphasising the idea of effort leading to the
much deserved and promised success. Upon the set of pages, two lines instead of
one are written. These are; May the stars that gave ancient bearings Be seen, still

and be able to understand it. The picture itself is easy to link to the line (it is a
picture of stars) however, due to the fact that it is done in the Aboriginal style, the
picture s full meaning cannot be understood, except by someone whom knows how
to interpret and understand the ancient symbolism of Aboriginal art. This introduces
the idea that, for the knowledge of the past to be fully realised, it must be

individual a traveller, introducing the concept that life should be safe for all, and that
the safe people must find those whom have been lost, and help those whom have

44. Helmet Laws Throughout The United States Essay
Helmet Laws Helmet laws throughout the United States are very wide spread.
Some sates either have minimal laws on helmets, some are on hundred percent pro
helmet and others have no restrictions at all when it comes to wearing a helmet on
your motorcycle. Ever notice on how we are made. We have two or more body
parts that are important but if one is taken from us we can still live. Now the
things we have just one of for the most part, if we lost them we would basically be
dead. We have a brain, you only get one, so use it and protect it.
You should strongly agree with the fact that everyone should have to wear a helmet
while riding a motorcycle. Currently there are nineteen states that make it one
hundred percent necessary to wear a helmet. These states include, Alabama,
California, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri,
Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee,
Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia. The number should be greatly
higher with all fifty states participating because serious head injury is common
among fatally injured motorcyclists. Helmets are about thirty seven percent effective
when it comes to motorcycle deaths, and about sixty seven percent effective in
preventing brain injuries. Wearing helmets and getting the proper licensing and
training have been shown to reduce injuries and deaths from motorcycle crashes.
Motorcycles are less stable and less visible than cars and are more prone
45. Views Of Predestination And The Christian Faith
Views of Predestination:
What to Believe
This Semester has been great for me with being in Exploring the Christian Faith. It
has been a good reminder and has also helped me learn more about my wonderful
Lord. We discussed the idea of Predestination, but I will be exploring it even more.
Let s first start off with a definition of predestination. As a doctrine in Christian
theology, the divine foreordaining of all that will happen, especially with regard to
the salvation of some and not others. It has been particularly associated with the
teachings of St. Augustine of Hippo and of Calvin. Let s break this definition down
even a bit more. First, a doctrine is a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a
church, political party, or other group, which makes since because we are talking
about Christian Theology. St. Augustine helped form the idea of Neoplatonism.
There are many different views of what actually predestination means and how literal
is should be taken.
Limited View
In the New Testament, the word predestined is used six times in six different verses
of the bible. In Ephesians one five, it says, He predestined us to adoption as sons
through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will. Now
how do we interpret that? Do we take it in the literal sense that he actually chooses
certain people to have a chance, and all others, no matter what they do, will live
without him in eternity? Those of mankind that are predestined unto life, God,

When we think about an eleven year old we don t envision a girl cleaning, cooking,
or doing taxes. In the novel, Ellen Foster by Kaye Gibbons, Ellen does not have the
luxury of toys and candy. In lieu of being an ordinary eleven year old girl, Ellen is
compelled to grow up and mature as a result of her familysituation. While living with
her birth parents, she witnesses her motherbeing abused by her drunk father. Ellen s
viewpoints are negative toward the start as her home is not stable. Due to the lack
of support,Ellen is compelled to move around to various environments and she
never gets the attention she deserves. Since she was so young, the adults in her life
should have taken care of her, but instead she takes care of them. As the novel
proceeds, Ellen is put through more hardships allowing her to get an alternate
perspective on life. Although Ellen had a negative start in her life, her perspective of
the world becomes positive as she faces challenges because of her family.
Ellen has been through a myriad of hardships that helps her transform her
perspective on family. In the beginning of the novel, Ellen describes how her father
demands her mom to cook despite the fact that she was ill and how her father jokes
around about her mother dieing. Through out Ellen s childhood, she is around abuse,
neglect, and poverty she did learn something from her mother. Her mom Does not

information regarding forensic investigations has proved extremely useful to society.

possibility of DNA fingerprinting, This process uses variations in the genetic code
that identify individuals.(Alec Jeffreys biography) The method he learned has
proved critical in forensic science. This method is a cornerstone to things the
police force accomplish. It also helps to relinquish problems involving paternity or
immigration. Even in non human affairs, Jeffreys acquired the only centre in the
world, in 1987, that did DNA fingerprinting. (Alec Jeffreys biography)At the time,
the centre was extremely busy and received attention from all around the world.
(Alec Jeffreys biography)DNA fingerprinting was first used in 1985. Jeffreys was
asked to solve a immigration problem to determine the family of a British Boy
whose family was from Ghana.(Alec Jeffreys biography) The case was easily
solved when the DNA results showed the boy was of close relation to the other
members of the family. The family was ecstatic to get their son, all of this would
not be possible if it were not for DNA fingerprinting. Fingerprinting was first used in
the field of law in 1983.(Alec Jeffreys biography) Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth
were raped and killed in Narborough, Leicestershire. (Alec Jeffreys biography)The
murderer, Colin Pitchfork, was convicted and identified after a sample of his semen
matched samples taken from the two deceased girls. This played a pivotal role in
the identifying of a murderer. His work proved the real killer, and also saved a man
who was almost falsely convicted of this murder. If it were not for Alec Jeffreys
work, an innocent man would have spent his entire life

heart of planning is the community, and the education, research and practices relating
to the planned use of land, its associated systems, and of the natural and built
environmental, social and economic impacts and implications of the use of land.

Zoning Planners need to plan a town s future. Zoning addresses the issues of land
use, density and building height for certain areas. (Thompson, S. 2007). Zoning is a
prime tool for guiding development of a town/suburb and sets helpful standards for
long developed areas and is also useful for neighbourhood preservation.
2.Required Setbacks Refers to the placement of the building on its block of land. In
this case, the building is already pre existing so the council will more than likely
only need to consider the setback requirements for the new addition to the rear of the
property. Issues such as proximity to the boundary line and therefore neighbours will
need to be addressed.
3.Car Parking Requirements The existing building was originally not designed to be
a restaurant come tavern. As the building will now be repurposed the developer will
need to allow for car parking plans within both the planning and building approval
stages.

the total square feet of the lot the building is located on. In more urban areas this
ratio tends to be greater to reflect the density of the area s construction. (Investopedia,

51. The Concept Of Silence In Maxine Hong Kingston s No
Name...
The concept of silence and the right to public speech has always been aborted in
different ways depending on the culture. American and Chinese culture differ in their
interpretation of what is acceptable or not in terms of behaviours in their respective
societies. Regarding silence, American women are much more encouraged to state
their opinion than Chinese women. With that idea in mind, Maxine Hong Kingston
shares her aunt s story and hers in No Name Woman, a nonfiction piece recalling the
author s personal experiences and reflections on traditional Chinese family. Silence is
present in many ways and has different purposes all throughout the story. In No
Name Woman, silence is used as a way to control behaviour.
The mother s emphasis on keeping this story a secret demonstrates how the aunt is
being punished for her impregnation. The story starts with a warning not to tell
anyone, setting an atmosphere of shameful secret even before learning about the
aunt s story. Punishing someone is a form of control over the individual being
punished, usually a way of diminishing a certain behavior by adding a negative
stimulus. By committing a spite suicide, the aunt tries to punish her family by
ruining their drinking water. Her choice of manner and location for the suicide has
an important signification in Chinese culture: The Chinese are always very
frightened of the drowned ones, whose weeping ghost [...] waits silently by the
water to pull down a substitute (464). This passage shows how the family silence is
their way of protecting themselves from the aunt s ghost by continuing to punish
her, not only for her impregnation but also for her suicide. Her revenge was well
chosen as her final attempt at preserving some sense of control over her faith. Given
that the aunt didn t get to have a proper funeral and offends, her punishment
continues after her death and remains as long as her existence falls into oblivion. As
the daughter later understands, the aunt remains forever hungry, since the family s
silence didn t offer her a proper way of passing through (464). Because her family,
including Maxine s father and the aunt s own brother, have deliberately forgotten her,
she can never truly rest in peace. The aunt

53. Hamlet Manipulation In Hamlet
The second reason for perhaps concluding that Hamlet would not have proved most
royal is linked to the culture of manipulation and facade at the centre of the Danish
Royal Court. Put simply, Hamlet detests it. He uses the metaphor of a pipe in order to
undermine the manipulative attempts of his fickle friends Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern. Will you play upon this pipe? , he asks Guildenstern, who replies that,
[he knows] no touch of it . Hamletthen exclaims why, look you now, how unworthy
a thing you make of me! You would play upon me. Here Hamlet lures Guildenstern
into his metaphor forged trap, thus referring to his friend s earlier responses and
demonstrating his hatred for being manipulated in any way. With regards to the
facade of the Danish court, Gertrude asks him, why seems it so particular with
thee? Hamlet responds, seems , madam? Nay it is. I know not seems . Hamlet
takes issue with any notion of insincerity, and discord between what is thought and
what is exhibited, perhaps stemming from his mother s suspiciously fast
remarriage to his uncle after his father s death, without much of a hint of grief.
That one may smile and smile and be a villain is a particularly shocking concept
for Hamlet to comprehend; through the and in smile and be a villain , the two
states of being are joined rather harmoniously, as opposed to if Shakespeare had
decided to use a more crude, disjointing but : smile but be a villain . Therefore, it is
clear that Hamlet is
54. Mental Illness In Mental Health
The courts of New South Wales have responded to the issue of individuals suffering
from mental illness under the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions Act) 1990 (NSW)
by setting out different courts control and maintain criminal proceedings in cases
where the defendant is defined to have a mental illness and also facades mental
illness to be a legal defence in criminal related cases, as well as with forensic and
correctional patients. Forensic patients are defined as an individual who is confined
in an institution or released from custody prone to decisions whereas, a correctional
patient is an individual currently on demand or serving a term of imprisonment who
is transferred to an institution. An example in relation to court processes being where
the District and Supreme courts have the authority to decide if the accused is not
guilty due to mental illness or not fit to plead. Though the concern being if the
question as to whether their mental disorder even makes them unfit to stand trial or
not guilty by reason of mental illness , has been raised, the courts may attribute them
to the Mental healthReview Tribunal. Whereas the Local Court in New South Wales
does not deal with individuals in criminal cases who are not fit to plead however the
magistrate can deal with an individual who is mentally ill by releasing the defendant
or referring them to a psychiatric unit with the recommendations from health care
professionals.

55. The Tyger Poetic Devices
William Blake s 1793 poem The Tyger has many interpretations, but its main
purpose is to question God as a creator. Its poetic techniques generate a vivid picture
that encourages the reader to see the Tyger as a horrifying and terrible being. The
speaker addresses the question of whether or not the same God who made the lamb, a
gentle creature, could have also formed the Tygerand all its darkness. This issue is
addressed through many poetic devices including rhyme, repetition, allusion, and
symbolism, all of which show up throughout the poem and are combined to create a
strong image of the Tyger and a less than thorough interpretation of its maker.
The first stanza directly addresses the Tyger, which is, according to the Oxford
English Dictionary, a large, carnivorous feline quadruped. It sets up the theme of
night, along with which comes darkness and evil. The third and fourth lines ask the
first of many repetitive and, in a sense, unanswerable questions: what kind of
creator has the ability to make something with such fearful symmetry (4)? The
second stanza moves on to ask the same question in a different format, inquiring
where the Tyger came from: heaven or hell. Starting in line 9, the speaker uses
powerful imagery to ask again what God could create the Tyger. The diction
portrays the Tyger as evil, with a twist[ed] heart (10). Lines 13 16 make up the fourth
stanza and compare the creator to a blacksmith. Lines 19 and 20 ask two questions
that are different

Bronfrenbenner s Ecological Theory Urie Bronfrenbenner (1971 2005) created the
ecological theory based on different levels to indicate how a child s environment
affects his/her development as well as minor and major life decisions.
Bronfenbrenner categorized his theory into four levels: the microsystem, the
mesosystem, the exosystem, and the macrosystem. Each level of the theory plays a
role in the decision making process and situations throughout a child s development,
which ultimately shape that child into a content, happy, bitter or sad adult. The

I was involved in several physical altercations and numerous minor and major
behavioral issues including walking out of class, using profanity towards the teachers,
etc. My mother s authoritarian parenting style emphasized obedience, even at the
expense of my autonomy. Despite several interferences within my early
development, I finally began transitioning into college girl mindset. The decision
to apply to undergraduate college commenced from a dream that my twin sister
and I came up with. Our preliminary plans were to attend college together, obtain
our Bachelor s in Accounting, and open a firm to work with big corporations as
top accountants. While the dream to attend college remained stagnant, the degree
choice changed after our first semester in school. Right at four years on the head, I
graduated with my first Bachelor s of Social Work, and re enrolled in school to
pursue Criminal Justice. During my junior and senior year in college, my passion for
learning about and working with juvenile offenders intensified, which eventually led
to my second Bachelor s in Criminal Justice. After receiving two undergraduate
degrees, I was under the impression that furthering my education was a colossal
waste of time. I entered the work force with the education I obtained from in
classroom learning and my social work field placement.
