Evolution vs. Creation Science
Adam Clayton Powell Jr. once stated, There is no future for a people who deny their past
(Applewhite, Evans, III, and Frothingham 474). This statement has rung true for the world for
centuries; the majority of individuals cannot fathom the concept of discovering how mankind came
to be through scientific nature. By denying this truth, the world will not be able to develop.
Evolutionis verifiable in comparison to creation science because of the theories, evidence, and the
increasing acceptance in today s society. In order to discuss the irrefutable nature of evolution, one
must be able to fully grasp the history of this groundbreaking knowledge. Evolution is often
described as a change that has occurred over an extended period of time.... Show more content on

One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that
has transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds.
These flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley
constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first,
complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was
no mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned,
including a bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature
was a new feature that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for
dinosaurian skeletons, providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct
observation has provided an enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin
s theory of evolution: natural selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered
moths. The peppered moths are also known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in
Britain. The moths often fly during the night but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever
way to camouflage themselves from predators. There are two very common types of these moths:
the typicall and carbonaria. The typicall can be described as a pale, speckled moth that is hidden

A Short Note On The Russian s Theory
nterpretations: Validity Ms. Russian s validity profile indicates the possibility of symptom
exaggeration. However, Ms. Russian s high level of reported psychological distress and her
endorsement of psychotic experiences could also lead to these validity profile scores. Therefore,
it is likely that Ms. Russian s MMPI 2 results are a valid representation of her personality
characteristics, although they should be interpreted with some caution as they may be slightly
exaggerated. Anxiety Ms. Russian s responses indicate that she experiences high levels of anxiety,
worry, and agitation. These findings are consistent with her self reports of general anxiety and
excessive worry about schoolwork and household chores, worries that led her to... Show more

This is consistent with her history of somatic complaints, from fainting (for which neurological
causes were ruled out), to intensely uncomfortable premenstrual periods, to recurrent migraines.
Additionally, Panic Disorder itself is characterized by an oversensitivity to physiological sensations
and an interpretation that those sensations are life threatening (Hawks, Blumenthal, Feldner, Leen
Feldner Jones, 2011). Ms. Russian s reports of experiencing frequent panic attacks lends credence to
the hypothesis that she may have an oversensitivity to physiological sensations. Depression Ms.
Russian s responses indicate that she experiences a depressed mood characterized by feelings of
unhappiness, apathy, and low self esteem. This is consistent with her reports of recurring
depressive symptoms, beginning with her experience of depression in middle school that primarily
manifested as a lack of interest in life. Although she is currently prescribed antidepressant
medication, these apathetic and anhedonic feelings continue to be a concern for her. Additionally,
she reports sleep disturbances (including hypersomnia and hypersomnia) which are consistent with
depressive disorders. Finally, she experiences recurring suicidal ideation and has attempted suicide
on one occasion. Unusual Experiences Ms. Russian s responses indicate that she has

The Prince Humanism Essay
At the turn of the 16th century, the Italian Peninsula was marred in brutal conflicts. Nations across
Europe, such as France, Spain and the Holy Roman Empire constantly raged wars to keep each
other out of the numerous territories around Italy. During this tumultuous time period, a man
named Niccolo Machiavelli studied in Florenceand witnessed firsthand the issues that rulers often
faced while attempting to conquer these Italian cities. His experiences prompted him to write a
literary work on his opinion of the ruling class, and his philosophy on how rulers should rule over
their subjects. However, his novel The Prince, is an interesting outlier of the time, as parts of it
contradict the popular social view of Humanism, which focused on the... Show more content on

He does not follow the idea of virtue established by Petrarch, he disregards the limitless possibility
of mankind set forth by Manetti and he refuses to acknowledge the god like qualities established by

humanist, since these concepts are the foundation to every humanistic approach. While Machiavelli
s novel was one of the most prominent works of the 16th century and furthered a new idea for the
ruling class, it hindered the notions that many humanists held dear during the

In this case, RJR was acquired by KKR, the debt of RJR increased from 38% of total capital to

additional regulatory mechanisms? Describe each of these stages.
1 RNA processing: In eukaryotic cells, introns, non coding regions of RNA, are removed and a tail
and a cap is added to RNA to help its movement.
2 RNA transport: RNA is transferred from nucleus to ribosome to initiate translation.
3 Translation: According to the genetic information of mRNA, polypeptide is synthesized.

Public Education In Public Schools
Kids in America have been educated in public schools for years. Public education most certainly is
not cheap though, as in 2017 the education budget was approximately $69.4 billion(). Many believe
this is a little extreme and wish to lower the education budget, but that would only make things
worse. Educationis one of the most important things in a civilization, and it is vital that its well
funded. However, much of the funding is going towards all the wrong things and America, despite
spending more on education than most other countries, is only slightly above average when it
comes to student performance(). The education system needs to be fixed by increasing the budget
and putting it towards more practical things. With the large amount

Strong Feelings in Macbeth and the Old Nurse s Story Essay
By examining The Old Nurse s Story and Macbeth , in detail, compare and contrast how Elizabeth
Gaskell and Shakespeare explore strong feelings in these two texts.
Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and
it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I.
Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this
was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth
s most powerful emotions. The play also reflects a widespread fascination with witchcraft and
Shakespeare exploits this interest for dramatic effect. In 1597, James I published his own book ...

Whilst Hester is exploring the mystifying house, she discovers a portrait of the young Miss.
Grace (later Miss. Furnivall). She was a beauty with a proud, set look, and such scorn looking
out of her handsome eyes as well as eyebrows that were just a little raised and a curled lip. Miss.
Grace is wearing posh clothes in the portrait, which shows that she is upper class, but even this
artificial beauty doesn t mask her malevolence. This shows that appearances are deceptive, but a
person s true colours are always revealed, no matter how hard they try to hide them.
The impression that we are given in the opening scene of Macbeth is that the actions of only a
few people will deal with the fate of the whole kingdom. This is hinted at when the witches speak
of a battle being lost and won , as the word battle usually refers to a conflict on a large scale, which
suggests that numerous people in the kingdom could be affected. This battle could tie in to the
strong feelings of guilt, ambition and determination on many levels. The battle could be a spiritual
one between the good (the Thanes) and the evil (the supernatural), or a mental battle in Macbeth s
conscience; all of which could cause the characters to explore their innermost thoughts. Both of
these openings anticipate the release of strong emotions from the protagonists, which are caused by

Bottle Feed Infants
Summary of Findings Researchers had hypothesized that bottle fed infants were over fed more
rather than their breast fed counterparts. So a study was conducted to see whether or not the infants
who were bottle fed turned out to be heavier in weight than those who were breast fed. In order to
conduct such a study twenty one mothers had signed up for the testing of their infants. Within the
study the mothers feed their infants the normal ways they would feed them at home and then the
ways the researchers had wanted them to feed them. With the results that the researchers got back
from the study they were able to calculate that the infants intake and rate of feeding could account
for the obesity within the infants.

Pan s Labyrinth
The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of psychoanalytic
theories that are often used to analyze a diverse body of literary and artistic works. An example
being, the Family Romance theory. It is an abnormal state of mind a child enters during the pre
pubescent stage. It consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter
of their parents. This occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently,
urging them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory explains the
cultural phenomenon behind children detaching themselves from their parents in order to gain
independence. It is a psychological concept featured within the family dynamic of Guillermo del
Toro s 2006 film Pan s Labyrinth . Pan s Labyrinth depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War
through the eyes of Ophelia, an innocent child, and the magical realm she comes across in the
woods. In the film, it is Ophelia s lack of a father figure, rivalry between... Show more content on

Yet, Ofelia continues to love her mother unconditionally. However, Carmen s neglectfulness,
similarly to the child in Freud Family Romances, has caused Ofelia to criticize her mother for
disregarding her. As a result, Ofelia decides to detach herself from her mother. It is a task that
each adolescent must do in order to become an independent being. The fantasies and magical
beings Ofelia created allowed her to mature into an adult. In doing so, Ofelia is also able to save
the life of her younger brother after being relinquished from her mother s parental rule. Ofelia is
able to become her own person because of the many circumstances she was involved in throughout

Cadence Analysis
A cadence is the notes or chords ending a section of music with feeling of the ending. The term
cadence applies to phrases or complete sections called movements. A cadence is at least two
chords that ends a phrase, section, or piece. A cadence indicates the end of a phrase. A cadence
can be labeled as two types; weak or strong depending on its sense of finality. Cadences must be a
sense of closure, as at the end of a phrase. Rhythm plays an important part in determining where this
cadence occurs. Cadences are strong indicators of the tonic or pitch of a piece. Rhythm is the
arrangement of sounds as they move through time. You can take any rhythm and arrange it to create
music. The term rhythm is used to describe a specific pattern of

The Modern Medicine Of Medicine
Voltaire once said, The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the
disease (Humor and Health). With increasing amounts of new modern diseases and maladies,
researchers are all scrambling to come up with vaccines, treatments, and cures to maintain and
restore societies health through prevention and treatments. Along with modern medicine, there were
many advancements starting from prehistoric times leading to the groundbreaking and innovative
researches. In the art of healing there are various types of medicine to complement scientific
research because conventional medicine is no longer the sole type of medicine. Between two styles
of medicine, applying both conventional and holistic styles would provide the most successful
outcome and should be the primary approach because there are more medical options that
reciprocate the best outlook.
Supported by prominent figures like Socrates, Plato and especially Hippocrates, a holistic
approach was primarily used throughout that time period and currently. Referring to a form of
healing, holistic medicine focuses on how the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual elements
of a person are interconnected (Holistic Medicine). Based on the word holism , which means to
be whole, holistic medicine s primary goal is to gain or maintain a proper balance in life.
Common in areas such as Asia, holistic medicine is a part of a broader subject of complementary
and alternative medicine also known as CAM.

Feline Herpes Research Paper
What is Feline Herpesvirus Infection in Cats?
Feline herpesvirus is a highly contagious virus that causes feline viral rhinotracheitis. Feline viral
rhinotracheitis is an acute upper respiratory infection that is one of the most common infections in
cats. Feline herpesvirus is also associated with several less common diseases, which include
keratitis and feline herpesvirus associated dermatitis. After recovery, feline herpesvirus typically
becomes latent though it stays with the cat for the remainder of his or her life. The virus may
become reactivated due to stress or corticosteroid treatment, allowing it to be passed onto other cats.
Feline herpesvirus is found around the world in both domesticated and wild cats. Cats of all ages
can become infected with the virus though it poses the greatest risk for young kittens and for
pregnant cats. Persistent feline viral rhinotracheitis has been found to be a risk factor in the
development of ocular problems.
Symptoms of Feline Herpesvirus Infection in Cats
Symptoms are typically strong during the initial infection and may recur in a lessened form if the
latent virus becomes reactivated.

What Is The Political Philosophy Of The Tempest
THE TEMPEST:
POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY ON SHAKESPEARE S LAST PLAY
Political Philosophy is a wide branch of philosophy that focuses statements and arguments involving
political opinion. It is all about state, politics itself, liberty, justice and the idea of authority. It
tackles the meaning of government itself, why it is needed, what makes a government legitimate,
the freedom of its underman, duties of both government and citizens and other political stuff. This
type of philosophy is being practiced since it was discovered and has two reasons. First is the
method and approach the philosopher and second is the philosopher s agenda that made him came

Experts have acclaimed that The Tempestdid not receive a big amount of public attention and
applause before the ban on the performance of plays in 1642 and retained its popularity after the
Restoration. During 19th and 20th century, theater productions took great interest with the play
and undertook a re appraisal now saying that The Tempest is one of Shakespeare s greatest
works. The Tempest is the inspiration of 46 operas, plays, poems, and films. The story focuses
with the exiled duke of Milan, Prospero, which was brought to an island on the Mediterranean
border which he claimed to be the master. There he raised his daughter from childhood, Mirana,
and encountered the fascinating creature Caliban and the spirit Ariel. Prospero made Ariel his
right hand while Caliban became a slave who is the previous master of the island. Prospero made
a Tempest which he said to come from the use of witchcraft or magic to manipulate certain things
just like the storm that hit the ship of the King of Naples. We might have seen The Tempest as a
supernatural literary piece but almost all of the characters on the play are just part of Prospero s
political experiment. Prospero was once a philosopher in Milan but after he was overthrown, he
started to realize the meaning of Machiavellian politics. Prospero is shown to act according to his
own philosophy but is shown that it is not his main motivation for his actions. Prospero main
motivation must be creating the best regime. It is in the story that parallels the Old Testament and
the creation of Israel. As we can see, the royal group in the ship and the drunkards represents the
flaws of human nature. Prospero noticed this flaws and corrects them through establishing some
sort of modern Israel. Prospero s leadership is planned to be a nation where justice will be seen and

Howard Zinn Chapter Summary
What evidence does Zinn offer to show the US government was not opposed to fascism on
principle?
Zinn first explains that the governments main interest from the start wasn t really to even stop
fascism but rather to advance the counties own imperial interest. For example, Italy during this
time was practicing fascism. If the The US was opposed to fascism the government would have
tried to cut Italy off but instead it let American Businesses send oil to Italy. Zinn then explains how
policies in the United States almost perfectly mirrored those practiced in the fascists Nations. He
portrays this in two ways, first he explains the treatment of women and then explains the racism
the broke out in the US towards the Japanese. Fascist nations strongly believed in fallowing
gender roles. What I mean by this is that, according to fascists principle women were to basically
embrace their stereotypes; staying at home and being good housewives. Even though the US was
supposed to be in a war against fascism, it really didn t do anything differently to help equalize the
role of women and men. Apparently other than using women in defense industries the US didn t do
anything different, also keep in mind there were no other options besides women at this time.
United states policies kept women out of the policy making areas and only used them for war work.
Lastly, Zinn explains how the racist practices in the United starts almost perfectly imitated those
seen in fascist nations. He used the

Media In Susan Bordo s Globalization Of Eating Disorders
Demi Lovato once said, I m not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body.
However, today we find that many individuals are doing the completely opposite. In Susan Bordo
s, Globalization of Eating Disorders essay, they fall into the media trap, the self image trap, where
they are concerned of what people may think about them. Americans nowadays have pageants,
modeling, and media to thank for this absurd notion. Fit women, along with strong men give this
motivation to others to want to be like them. Most people should be comfortable with their own
bodies. Americans are mesmerized with media and enthralled by one s body image, and ,as a result,
face ramifications like eating disorders and anorexia.
Why are Americans so fascinated with body image? Americans have media and various types of
internet to rely upon when it comes to body image. TV screens with pageants and internet pictures
with models are some of the many illustrations out on the media today. Pageants are constantly
televising little girls posing in full makeup, and lovishly embellished (Cartwright). This confesses
for parents to put themselves in the action, yearning to either put their children in the pageants for
bragging rights of their children or for their children to be the popular one. Internet pictures with
models pushes individuals, men and women, developing a thirst to be like them in some aspect.
Men and women begin workouts, begin their journeys, and then it becomes an obsession.

Various References of the Congo Essay

leaving many other inhabitants of the river undiscovered. Wherever humans occur near the water,
fishing will also occur. Fishings occurrence is generally for two reasons: Either as a food source,

implemented in different areas. Downstream of the Malebo pool, traps are put to use by attaching
them to stakes or dams in the middle of rapids. In marshy areas, fishermen utilize poisons, which is

The Establishment Clause Analysis
While the first amendment endows several paramount freedoms, it can, at times, be onerous to
understand. Both the Free Exercise Clause and the Establishment Clause is imperative to our
freedom, the Supreme Court has historically argued various ways regarding these two clauses. Our
founders, such as Thomas Jefferson, saw the importance of creating a separation between church
and state. As such, no national religionwas to be declared, and still has not been. As such, there are
varying approaches to establishment. By examining the historical decisions regarding these clauses,
I have found that while it is crucial to separate the church and state, these two entities can still, in
some capacities, intermingle. In this specific context of the Missouri Scrap Tire Grant Program, it
is acceptable for Trinity Lutheran Church, and more specifically, their Learning Center, to receive
financial support in order to renovate their playground for safety reasons. There have been a
multitude of debates regarding the various approaches to establishment. For instance, a strict
separation approach declares that the state can indirectly support a religion establishment, but can
have no direct involvement. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sleep Wake Cycle
Sleep timing, duration, and quality can influence the release of growth hormone, cortisol, leptin,
and ghrelin. The sleep wake cycle also influences insulin secretion. Reduced sleep can have adverse
effects on metabolism and endocrine function. Disruptions in circadian rhythm and the sleep wake
cycle regulate the release of hypothalamic activating and inactivating factors that influence the
release of pituitary hormones and sympathetic and parasympathic activity. With reduced sleep, a
study found increased evening cortisollevels, decreased glucose tolerance and glucose sensitivity,
and a slight elevation of GH while awake (Leproult Van Cauter, 2009). Because the student sleeps
less than 8 hours a night, this will reduce the leptin level and elevate ghrelin, so the appetite of the
student will probably increase, thus increasing the BMI as well. Ghrelin works to stimulate the
appetite. (Taheri, Lin,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which can increase the BMI. (Manenschijn, van Kruysbergen, de Jong, Koper, van Rossum, 2011).
Cortisol is a glucocorticoid made from cholesterol in the adrenal glands. Stress can stimulate the

Modernism And Postmodernism In The Twentieth Century
Twentieth century is marked with two epochs, first half is known as modernism and second half is
named as postmodernism. In the latter half of twentieth century there was an overall transferal in
terms of culture, economics, religion, history, linguistics, social behavior, philosophy, arts,
architecture, and literature. The world has entered into a new phenomenon that is being defined
with the prefix of post . For istance from structuralism to poststructuralism, colonialism to
postcolonialism, positivism to postpositivism and modernism to postmodernism. In Location of
Culture Homi K Bhabha has defined the prefix of post under the context of post colonialism. He
is of the view that post is such a prefix that does not give any direction rather it is directionless.
The word which he has used to define this prefix is beyond (Bhabha, 1994) and defined that in this
world beyond, there is no direction.
Postmodernism is an approach that carries with it a wide variety of meanings, interpretations and
phenomenons. It may refer to a concept, a practice, a life style, a new period etc. It is all
permeating concept and has stretched in all directions across different borders, different debates,
different disciplines and different discursive boundaries. Dick Hebdige gives a periodic list of the
definitions of postmodernism in Hiding in the Light: On Images and Things.

Dubliners By James Joyce
Dubliners, is a book in which James Joyce takes his readers back to early 20th century Dublin.
Joyce s collection of short stories portrays his homeland, Ireland, at a time of stagnation and the
beginning of the Irish Nationalist Movements, which sought independence from Great Britain.
With such dependence, Ireland and its citizens lives could not move forward and to enliven this
condition in his book Joyce use three great concepts. In the first short story Joyce mentions the
words gnomon, simony, and paralysis, and by doing so he foreshadows the themes of every
story and how they are a close description of Dublin at that time. Joyce use the concept of
gnomon to typify incompleteness, disconnection, and being in the shadow of someone or
something, which is a important theme in his book about the empty and incomplete lives of the
Irish. Before meeting the odd old man, the boys decided to skip school and go looking for
adventures like in the Wild West, and the narrator tells: But when the restraining influence of the
school was at a distance I began to hunger again for wild sensations, for the escape which those
chronicles of disorder alone seemed to offer me. The mimic warfare of the evening became at last
as wearisome to me as the routine of school in the morning because I wanted real adventures to
happen to myself. But real adventures, I reflected, do not happen to people who remain at home:
they must be sought abroad. ( An Encounter 13) Their

The Writers Of The Television
Since the creation of the television, thousands of sitcoms have been created. Most spend a few
years on the air and are quickly forgotten after they have ended. Very few TV shows paved the
way for what television is today and, after spending ten years on the air, Friends is one of those
few. Friends was so groundbreaking because of its unique writing, its cast chemistry, and its ability
to resonate with the people in its era. Friendsconsists of six friends, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel,
Monica, and Phoebe, living in New York and discovering themselves. The writers of the show were
able to do something extremely rare in television; they created an ensemble cast of six main
characters. No one person played a larger role then the others... Show more content on

The writing of the series played a large role in making it so iconic but making it even more
iconic was, perhaps, it s ensemble. The chemistry, or lack there of, between cast members has
been the downfall of many television series, but that was never a problem for Friends. Not only
was each actor perfect for his or her character, but each actor was also perfect for each other. The
show worked best when all six characters were on the screen. If, for example, Joey had a date, it
was rarely shown on screen. Instead, what was shown was the six friends discussing the date
after the fact. Many supporting characters, such as love interests, were written off because it
seemed as if they somehow go in the way. Monica and Chandler both had many love interests
and yet, they ended up marrying each other. All ten seasons consisted of the same cast, and no
one ever got tired of seeing the same six faces on their TV screen. During season one each cast
member was making a different salary but by the end of the season they were negotiating their
pay to be equal, which was unprecedented at the time. The chemistry was so great that it spilled
over into their real lives. All six cast members remain close friends to this day. Jennifer Aniston is
the godmother to Courtney Cox s daughter and while each has gone on to star in other television
series, they will still frequently appear on each other s show.

The Prince vs. Henry V Essay
The Prince vs. Henry V A comparison of attributes After reading Machiavelli s The Prince and
watching Shakespeare s Henry V in class, one begins to notice similarities between the authors
idea of what a perfect king should be. The patterns between the ideal ruler of Shakespeare and
the ideal ruler of Machiavelli can be seen in numerous instances throughout this story. For the
duration of this essay, I will compare the similarities in both pieces to give the reader a better
understanding of how Shakespeare devised his view of what a perfect king should be. One can

Henry was involved with some scrupulous characters. He would... Show more content on

While speaking to the governor, Henry literally scares the people of Harfleur into submission
and gains entry to the city without further fighting. This shows a definite similarity in what
Machiavelli and Shakespeare view in their leader. As a king, Henry becomes known for being a
man of resilience, strategy, and combat. These traits, according to Machiavelli, are necessary to
become the ideal king. As stated by Machiavelli, ...a prince ought to have no other aim or
thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is
the sole art that belongs to him who rules. (Machiavelli) This can be seen when the Dauphin
presents Henry with a gift of tennis balls and an insulting speech practically telling him to stay
out of grown men s affairs. This gives Henry the leverage he needs to start a war with France
without looking like the instigator. He can now put the blame of war on the Dauphin and the many
lives of whom will be killed. Henry uses this to move toward his strength and show his full
potential. Another example can be seen when Henry has to hang Bardolph for plundering during
the invasion of France. Years earlier, while drinking in the tavern, Bardolph had asked Prince Henry
this question, Do not thou, when thou art king, hang a thief? Prince Henry replied, No, thou

I ve spent the last few years under the impression people make too big of a deal of coming out

The American sport of basketball has come a long way since it was invented by

Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of
American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on
April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as
an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a
teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a
promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his
career on a new idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became
one of the most famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often
guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would
almost always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or
preparing something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest
musicians to join his band.
Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly
duplicate without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was
known about Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was
always the inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that
usually became big hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter
Whetsol and the saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist
Hodges became the highest paid performer in the United States.
The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of

When Best Buy, the leading American consumer electronics...
When Best Buy, the leading American consumer electronics retailer planned to expand its
operations outside the United States in December 2000, they earmarked Canada as the first foreign
country for its international expansion strategy. The choice was mainly driven by the fact that
Canada was its closest neighbor with a retail market that was largely similar to the domestic United
States market, which Best Buyhad already dominated. The Canadian consumer electronic retail
market was largely fragmented, with the dominant force being future shop which had 15% of the
market share. The original expansion strategy for Best Buy was to enter the Canadian market and
directly compete with future shop as well as the other market players for a piece... Show more

Rebranding the Future Shop franchises would be a lengthy and costly process.
Future shop already had brand recognition as well as brand loyalty in Canada
Best Buy had already committed itself to a number of property leases before the merger.
The business risks that accompanied the move included the fear that the two competing brands,
now subsidiaries of the same company, would cannibalize each other s sales, thus splitting the
profits. Also, there were concerns that the duplication of roles that would result from each company
having its own distinct management structure would increase operational costs, minimizing overall
profitability. Another fear was that there would be diminished brand awareness for both brands as
consumers would treat the two retailers as one company, thus benefiting the competition (Laurent,
Lambkin 803).
However, the strategy proved successful. This was largely because the two retailers had their own
separate operational structure and style that attracted different market segments (Bala, Lorange 4
11), which avoided sales cannibalization between them.
Within the first year, positive results were already being seen; a case in point that proved the
strategy was successful was in Mississauga where the sales revenue only dropped by $2 million
from $40 million to $38 million while a Best Buy outlet just across the street recorded $30 million
in sales (Chandrasekhar.5)
From this market experiment in Canada, Best Buy learnt that

  • 4. Evolution vs. Creation Science Adam Clayton Powell Jr. once stated, There is no future for a people who deny their past (Applewhite, Evans, III, and Frothingham 474). This statement has rung true for the world for centuries; the majority of individuals cannot fathom the concept of discovering how mankind came to be through scientific nature. By denying this truth, the world will not be able to develop. Evolutionis verifiable in comparison to creation science because of the theories, evidence, and the increasing acceptance in today s society. In order to discuss the irrefutable nature of evolution, one must be able to fully grasp the history of this groundbreaking knowledge. Evolution is often described as a change that has occurred over an extended period of time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that has transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds. These flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first, complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was no mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned, including a bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature was a new feature that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for dinosaurian skeletons, providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct observation has provided an enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin s theory of evolution: natural selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered moths. The peppered moths are also known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in Britain. The moths often fly during the night but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever way to camouflage themselves from predators. There are two very common types of these moths: the typicall and carbonaria. The typicall can be described as a pale, speckled moth that is hidden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Short Note On The Russian s Theory nterpretations: Validity Ms. Russian s validity profile indicates the possibility of symptom exaggeration. However, Ms. Russian s high level of reported psychological distress and her endorsement of psychotic experiences could also lead to these validity profile scores. Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I. Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth s most powerful emotions. The Tempest is the inspiration of 46 operas, plays, poems, and films. The story focuses with the exiled duke of Milan, Prospero, which was brought to an island on the Mediterranean border which he claimed to be the master. There he raised his daughter from childhood, Mirana, and encountered the fascinating creature Caliban and the spirit Ariel. Prospero made Ariel his right hand while Caliban became a slave who is the previous master of the island. Prospero made a Tempest which he said to come from the use of witchcraft or magic to manipulate certain things just like the storm that hit the ship of the King of Naples. We might have seen The Tempest as a supernatural literary piece but almost all of the characters on the play are just part of Prospero s political experiment. Prospero is shown to act according to his own philosophy but is shown that it is not his main motivation for his actions. Prospero main motivation must be creating the best regime. Even though the US was supposed to be in a war against fascism, it really didn t do anything differently to help equalize the role of women and men. Apparently other than using women in defense industries the US didn t do anything different, also keep in mind there were no other options besides women at this time. Both the Free Exercise Clause and the Establishment Clause is imperative to our freedom, the Supreme Court has historically argued various ways regarding these two clauses. Our founders, such as Thomas Jefferson, saw the importance of creating a separation between church and state. As such, no national religionwas to be declared, and still has not been. As such, there are varying approaches to establishment. By examining the historical decisions regarding these clauses, I have found that while it is crucial to separate the church and state, these two entities can still, in some capacities, intermingle. In this specific context of the Missouri Scrap Tire Grant Program, it is acceptable for Trinity Lutheran Church, and more specifically, their Learning Center, to receive financial support in order to renovate their playground for safety reasons. Reduced sleep can have adverse effects on metabolism and endocrine function. Disruptions in circadian rhythm and the sleep wake cycle regulate the release of hypothalamic activating and inactivating factors that influence the release of pituitary hormones and sympathetic and parasympathic activity. With reduced sleep, a study found increased evening cortisollevels, decreased glucose tolerance and glucose sensitivity, and a slight elevation of GH while awake (Leproult Van Cauter, 2009). Because the student sleeps less than 8 hours a night, this will reduce the leptin level and elevate ghrelin, so the appetite of the student will probably increase, thus increasing the BMI as well. The world has entered into a new phenomenon that is being defined with the prefix of post . • 32. Dubliners By James Joyce Dubliners, is a book in which James Joyce takes his readers back to early 20th century Dublin. Joyce s collection of short stories portrays his homeland, Ireland, at a time of stagnation and the beginning of the Irish Nationalist Movements, which sought independence from Great Britain. With such dependence, Ireland and its citizens lives could not move forward and to enliven this condition in his book Joyce use three great concepts. In the first short story Joyce mentions the words gnomon, simony, and paralysis, and by doing so he foreshadows the themes of every story and how they are a close description of Dublin at that time. Joyce use the concept of gnomon to typify incompleteness, disconnection, and being in the shadow of someone or something, which is a important theme in his book about the empty and incomplete lives of the Irish. Before meeting the odd old man, the boys decided to skip school and go looking for adventures like in the Wild West, and the narrator tells: But when the restraining influence of the school was at a distance I began to hunger again for wild sensations, for the escape which those chronicles of disorder alone seemed to offer me. The mimic warfare of the evening became at last as wearisome to me as the routine of school in the morning because I wanted real adventures to happen to myself. But real adventures, I reflected, do not happen to people who remain at home: they must be sought abroad. ( An Encounter 13) Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Very few TV shows paved the way for what television is today and, after spending ten years on the air, Friends is one of those few. Friends was so groundbreaking because of its unique writing, its cast chemistry, and its ability to resonate with the people in its era. Friendsconsists of six friends, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe, living in New York and discovering themselves. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The writing of the series played a large role in making it so iconic but making it even more iconic was, perhaps, it s ensemble. The chemistry, or lack there of, between cast members has been the downfall of many television series, but that was never a problem for Friends. Not only was each actor perfect for his or her character, but each actor was also perfect for each other. The show worked best when all six characters were on the screen. If, for example, Joey had a date, it was rarely shown on screen. Instead, what was shown was the six friends discussing the date after the fact. Many supporting characters, such as love interests, were written off because it seemed as if they somehow go in the way. Monica and Chandler both had many love interests and yet, they ended up marrying each other. All ten seasons consisted of the same cast, and no one ever got tired of seeing the same six faces on their TV screen. During season one each cast member was making a different salary but by the end of the season they were negotiating their pay to be equal, which was unprecedented at the time. The chemistry was so great that it spilled over into their real lives. All six cast members remain close friends to this day. The Prince vs. Henry V Essay The Prince vs. Henry V A comparison of attributes After reading Machiavelli s The Prince and watching Shakespeare s Henry V in class, one begins to notice similarities between the authors idea of what a perfect king should be. The patterns between the ideal ruler of Shakespeare and the ideal ruler of Machiavelli can be seen in numerous instances throughout this story. For the duration of this essay, I will compare the similarities in both pieces to give the reader a better understanding of how Shakespeare devised his view of what a perfect king should be. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While speaking to the governor, Henry literally scares the people of Harfleur into submission and gains entry to the city without further fighting. This shows a definite similarity in what Machiavelli and Shakespeare view in their leader. As a king, Henry becomes known for being a man of resilience, strategy, and combat. These traits, according to Machiavelli, are necessary to become the ideal king. As stated by Machiavelli, ...a prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who rules. (Machiavelli) This can be seen when the Dauphin presents Henry with a gift of tennis balls and an insulting speech practically telling him to stay out of grown men s affairs. This gives Henry the leverage he needs to start a war with France without looking like the instigator. He can now put the blame of war on the Dauphin and the many lives of whom will be killed. Henry uses this to move toward his strength and show his full potential. Another example can be seen when Henry has to hang Bardolph for plundering during the invasion of France. Years earlier, while drinking in the tavern, Bardolph had asked Prince Henry this question, Do not thou, when thou art king, hang a thief? Prince Henry replied, No, thou ... Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most famous musicians in America. ... When he was alone though, he would almost always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians to join his band. Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the highest paid performer in the United States. When Best Buy, the leading American consumer electronics retailer planned to expand its operations outside the United States in December 2000, they earmarked Canada as the first foreign country for its international expansion strategy. The choice was mainly driven by the fact that Canada was its closest neighbor with a retail market that was largely similar to the domestic United States market, which Best Buyhad already dominated. The Canadian consumer electronic retail market was largely fragmented, with the dominant force being future shop which had 15% of the market share. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rebranding the Future Shop franchises would be a lengthy and costly process. Future shop already had brand recognition as well as brand loyalty in Canada Best Buy had already committed itself to a number of property leases before the merger. The business risks that accompanied the move included the fear that the two competing brands, now subsidiaries of the same company, would cannibalize each other s sales, thus splitting the profits. Also, there were concerns that the duplication of roles that would result from each company having its own distinct management structure would increase operational costs, minimizing overall profitability. Another fear was that there would be diminished brand awareness for both brands as consumers would treat the two retailers as one company, thus benefiting the competition (Laurent, Lambkin 803). However, the strategy proved successful. This was largely because the two retailers had their own separate operational structure and style that attracted different market segments (Bala, Lorange 4 11), which avoided sales cannibalization between them. Within the first year, positive results were already being seen; a case in point that proved the strategy was successful was in Mississauga where the sales revenue only dropped by $2 million from $40 million to $38 million while a Best Buy outlet just across the street recorded $30 million in sales (Chandrasekhar.5) From this market experiment in Canada, Best Buy learnt that ...
