The purpose of this article is to address the need for further training for First Responders. This article
discussed Police, Fire Department, Public Officials responses to emergency incidents and protocols
needed by each agency. It will also look into what lapses there is in training and what can be done to
improve and be better prepared in case the situation arises again. As George Santayana stated, those
who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. (2016) The journal started off like very few
do, with a fictional story. A story of two policemen and how their day was going but took a dramatic
change for the worse. This scene was different from normal days, not any day but the 4th of July. Two
highly trained policemen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The claim for better policies, procedures, protocols and plans is of valid concern. These need to be in
place for not only for government agencies that might have to respond to such a heinous event in the
future but the need to take into account state and local agencies. Without proper procedures in place,
implemented and practiced the confusion of 9 11 will happen again. First responders cannot be
expected to deal with the emergency at hand. They need to be there to access the situation and cordon
off the area. As stated by Henry and King emergency responders, including supervisors, experts, and
managers who respond later are made more fully aware of policies, procedures, and protocols, they
can begin the task of saving lives much

What Was The Erie Canal
How the Erie Canal Opened the Door to the Western Frontier After the American Revolution, people s
thoughts turned to the American West. But while the thought of going west was in a lot of people s
minds, so were thoughts of the restrictions making the move almost impossible. The trip to the west
was filled with mountains, forests, rivers and even a few waterfalls. How was this transportation of
people and goods to take place?
Before the Transcontinental Railway, interstate highways and airplanes changed the shape of our
country, there was the New York State Erie Canal system. Although the idea of a canal was perceived
in the late 1700 s, it wasn t until the 1790 s that locks and canals on the Mohawk River allowed for
boat travel from Schenectady to Oswego and to Seneca Lake in the Finger lakes region of New York.
One canal of great significance was the Erie Canal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But because of the drawbacks for commercial waterways with their rapids and waterfalls, Clinton s
idea was an excellent one. He worked hard to promote the idea of the waterway, even as skeptics
continued to call the plan, Clinton s Ditch or Clinton s Folly. Because of the hard work and
perseverance of Clinton, the Erie Canal became a successful engineering project. New York s terrain
was complex, but the canal, four feet deep and forty feet wide, traversed through fields, forests and
cliffs and included eighty three locks. These locks were structures used to equalize water levels
between the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers in New

Essay Compare And Contrast Jamestown And John Smith
Two men came to America with a organization of people on a ship to set up their own colony. Both of
them had a goal and a reason for coming to the new world. When both of them came to set up a
colony they had high hopes. They soon realized it would be a struggle to survive and had to endure a
lot when they decided to come to the new world. They were not exactly the same though and had
some differences and came to the new world for contrasting reasons. Jamestown was settled by the
Virginia Company and Captain John Smith, who was the leader and was one of the reasons why
Jamestown was able to endure and withstand in such difficult circumstances. In Smith s narrative but
nothing so difficult as to establish a commonwealth so far remote from men and means, and where
men s minds are so untoward as neither do well themselves, nor suffer others (Smith).People were
being greedy and didn t want to help each other which was a big problem in Jamestown and made it
difficult to be able to survive.Another concept in his account of what happens on his journey he talks

Contributions Of William Golding
William Golding was a famous British author, poet, and playwright. Golding contributed to British
Literature by writing several works for which he was acknowledged. His most famous work is a novel
called Lord of the Flies which was published in 1954. Lord of the Flies is still being read today around
the world. In addition, two movie versions based on the novel were released. The first version was
released in the United States in 1963 and the second version was released in 1990. The Lord of the
Flies remains a relevant piece of literature today as it shows what happens in nature when there is no
central governing body. His pessimism about the nature of humanity was obviously reflected in his
writing. William Golding s childhood, school life, and war experience heavily influenced his work as
a playwright, poet, and an author of Lord of the Flies.
On September 19, 1911 William Golding was born at his maternal grandmother s house in Newquay,
Cornwall (England). This was approximately six years after his older brother Joseph was born.
Golding also had an adopted sister named Eileen. She was his blood cousin and was adopted in the
1930s. His parents were Alec and Mildred A. Golding (neé Curnoe). The whole family lived in
Marlborough, Wiltshire. Alec was a master of science at Marlborough Grammar School. Alec was also
a rationalist, religious skeptic, and an activist for the British Labour Party. Alec and Mildred

This is the biggest thing II have learned not only from the plays I have read but from this entire
English class. We learn things on a parallel level with plays on one hand we learn what the play is
telling us from the dialogue the actors say. But on the other hand, we learn what the playwright was
trying to tell us. And in Oscar Wilde play the important of being earnest, there s a lesson in the story
about lying well just get you all tied up and in a bigger and deeper situation that you started, but it also

The Number 1 Secret Meditation
Relaxation the number 1 secret to meditation. However, there are some problems that make some
failed to achieve relaxation. NO matter how good meditation is, this will not be effective if you don t
learn how to relax.
For some reasons, especially the beginners, are having hard time to relax due to many factors. This is
one of the major objectives of meditative programs and trainings.
Most meditations require postures that are uncomfortable, and a lot of times, very uncomfortable.
Here are some of the common postures often used during meditation.
You may have heard a lot about meditation techniques such as the various postures that are used while
doing the meditation process.
However, many of us do not understand that there must be a kind of posture to be applied to a specific
meditation purpose.
Here are some:
a.) Lotus Position. This is the most common posture that you ll see in mediation videos and
presentation. Yet, when this position is not implemented properly, this can make the person
uncomfortable and fail to concentrate. If you feel that you are doing well with the lotus position, well,
this is the best meditation posture for you.
b.) Seiza Position. This is the Japanese posture that cuts off blood to legs, thus decreasing relaxation
profoundly. Now, there are reasons why you would sit like this, and it does allow you to concentrate
and focused in pain of your legs in rather than something else. There are benefits to this type of

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Statistics show that on February 2017 it was reported that from 2016 Monarch Butterfly s population
count, which was just about 150 million butterflies, nearly one third of that population decreased. As a
matter of fact, these are the results of our actions like climate change, poaching/farming, pollution and
the destruction of their habitats. As a result , it is a priority that the public is aware of these certain
situations, so that we can fix the problem with climate change with some possible solutions.
Species Information. The Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a very beautiful and unique
creature who is desperate for the public s help and awareness. Like Elizabeth Goudge mentioned,
[N]ot quite birds, as they were not quite flowers, mysterious and fascinating as are all indeterminate
creatures .This species of butterfly have ten centimeter bodies from wing to wing ; with a weight of
less than half a gram. Therefore, these butterflies look pretty similar to each other with both of them
having two orange red wings with black veins and white spots along the edges, so the way to
distinguish a male from a female is by looking at noticable black dots next to their veins and a
difference in size indicating that their a male Monarch butterfly. That being said, their estimated life
span is about four to five weeks, and they live in forests and mountains where they lay their eggs and
along the way they pollinate the plants that keep them alive.

Economic Impact Of The Indian Ocean Trade
From 120 BCE to the 16th century, trade was a remarkable part of the Eastern Hemisphere. It played a
vital role in the kingdoms and city states that made up all of what the 21st century calls Europe, Asia,
and Africa. Trade was critically important in this time period because of the diverse climate that was
scattered all across the continent. Due to the climate, every location had different resources that were
provided by nature. Without specific resources, specific goods could not be manufactured. Not only
that, but since technology was not as advanced as it is now, specific products were not able to exist in
areas. The only way to obtain those products was to trade. Two of the many routes that a merchant
could use to trade were the Silk Road and the Sea Roads along the Indian Ocean. Of those two roads,
the Indian trade route had the most positive impact around the world. It facilitated the trading of mass
goods since rather than using animals to transport goods, they used boats. It also provided a type of
wind known as Monsoon wind that merchants could benefit from. Finally, the Indian Ocean trade
route stretched out at a greater distance than the silk road, which impacted the goods that could be
traded. Overall, the Indian Ocean trade route had the best impact in the Eastern Hemisphere and even
the world. One of the most significant reasons why the trade route through the Indian Ocean had the
most positive impact around the world is because it allowed merchants to

Motor Execution Paper
Motor Execution
The production of speech demands coordination of laryngeal, respiratory, and orofacial muscles
(Simonyan Horwitz, 2011), and once the brain has the framework and layout for what it wants to
produce vocally, it can begin to implement its plan. In order to do this, it must leave the cerebrum and
begin its journey down the spinal cord, the secondary part of the central nervous system. The journey
begins in the motor cortices.
Once the signal has been organized, it leaves Broca s area and makes its way towards the motor
cortices in the frontal lobe, which include the precentral gyrus (or the primary motor cortex), the
premotor cortex, and the supplementary motor area (Ferrand, 2014). The primary motor cortex
controls, directs, and coordinates contralateral voluntary movements of skeletal muscles, including the
muscles that take part in speech production (Ferrand, 2014). The neurons on the primary motor cortex
(as well as the somatosensory cortex) are organized on a homunculus, or a map with all areas of the
body represented. It contains areas specific to the face and neck lower down on the homunculus, with

vagus nerve (CN X), the accessory nerve (CN XI), and the hypoglossal nerve (CN XII); all receive
input from fibers and forward the message to various muscles in the body. From this point forward,
information is transmitted to and from the central nervous system by way of the cranial nerve endings
and axons, and activation of the muscles of respiration, phonation, resonation and articulation occurs

Respect Of A Child In The South During The Late 1800 s
Imagine a child in the south, during the late 1800 s. There was certain manners and values that a child
would have been raised with. One of the most important of these values was to respect one s elders. A
child raised in these values would listen to an adult and think that they re right no matter the
circumstance because they are older. Also, a child would have been raised to accept certain social
injustices like slavery. This was mainly because the adults said it was alright. Mark Twain wanted
people to realize the immorality of society during the 1800s. Mark Twain first shows this with the

Neuropsychological Testing Essay
Neuropsychological testing is used to assess and diagnosis brain impairments, such as a head injury,
dementia, or Alzheimer s (Gregory, 1999). Purposes of neuropsychological assessments include
determining if the problem is physiological (e.g., brain damage or lesion), the nature of the
dysfunction (e.g., location or type), and cognitive deficits caused by the problem (Class Notes VIII).
For example, following a brain injury, a neurological battery of tests may be given in order to assess
the individual to see if there has been any change in cognitive functioning. Results from neurological
assessments can provide information on the individual s current mental capacities, which allows for
the development of a specific diagnosis and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Language is one aspect that is examined by the verbal subtests on the WAIS, and there is a measure of
receptive language involved in all of the subtests. Visuospatial and motor abilities are measured by the
perceptual reasoning and processing speed subtests on the WAIS (e.g., BD, PC, CD, SS, and CA).
Finally, the WAIS can help examine an individual s ability to form concepts via abstract
thinking/reasoning (SI, CO, MR, and BD FW), have flexibility in cognition (DSB, CD, LNS),
mentally manipulate information (DSB, AR), judgment (CO). The WAIS III and IV are often used as a
part of neuropsychological testing because these tests can examine the premorbid intelligence of an
individual with brain damage (Schoenberg et al., 2002). This is done by comparing scores via
regression formulas by demographic approaches, best current performances, current reading ability,
historical achievement measures, or combining current ability and demographic variable approaches
(Schoenberg et al., 2002). However, demographic approaches alone do not discriminate well between
brain damaged and non brain damaged individuals. Schoenberg et al. (2002) ran a study to develop

itself is a brief introduction to religion as a whole, particulary the religions of primitive societies.
Nonetheless, when looking to the past one can see that mankind s desire to associate itself with the
sacred has been occuring for thousands of years. From temples to passages of intiation, religious man
is a unique microcosm that follows and repeats the structure of the religious macrocosm, the creation
of the cosmos. One can conclude that Eliade views religion as the paradigmatic solution for every
existential crisis. (p210) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The participation in these events and overall repetition enforces the religious content and provides an
optimistic vision of existence and eventual transcendence for the participant. It provides a break from
a temporal and profane duration of time and into a sacred time of importance and meaning for a
religion and its followers. Religious experience then would fall into the personal realm of man himself
and how he perceives the world around him. Nature provides a chief component in primitive religious
man s view of the cosmos and his gods. The sky houses the gods, remote although it may be, natural
phenomenon such as thunder and rain gave primitive and early religious man the reasoning to place
his gods above him in the intangible heavens as such natural occurrences were due in part to the
supernatural beings dwelling in the skies. Alongside the sky, the observation of the transition of the
moon and sun (night and day) signify death and rebirth. Water too plays a symbolic part in human
experience and although it has a powerful capability to destroy life, it also reiterates the cosmogonic
cycle, especially with the practice of baptism where water renews life. (p132) Earth itself is also
linked to the human experience of child birth with females. The idea of a Terra Mater or mother earth
(p138) symbolizes the idea of the earth reproducing its vegetation based life in comparison to the
experience of mother giving birth of her children.

The Environment Is An Important Aspect Of Shaping People...
Signage Environment Environment is an important aspect in shaping people and objects. The
environment can contribute to the presentation of a signage of an establishment to sell merchandise or
food. To make a place presentable, people usually focus on the environment that it s in. Whether the
environment is unkempt or upscale will determine if cliental will eat or shop there. For example, if
someone were to go to a restaurant they ve never been to, they d be observant of the surroundings.
They would question if the restaurant looked clean, if the food was safe to eat, if the people who make
the food are clean, and if the restaurant itself was presentable. When people go to famous eateries,
they expect the consistency in each restaurant. It s good for the business itself to keep its consistency
for travelers and returning customers.

Compare the way love is presented in Sonnet 43 and Ghazal
Both poems, Sonnet 43 and Ghazal convey emotions and passionate feelings of love in different ways.
Sonnets and Ghazals are poem that are meant to express strong feelings of love. Khalvati and Barrett
Browning chose them to illustrate their loving feelings to their lovers. Barrett Browning does not
correctly carry out all the rules of Sonnets in her poem which gives an effect that she would do
anything for her lover and that there are no rules to their love, whereas Khalvati does not break any of
rules in Ghazal, this might, perhaps mean that her love is unrequited and that she would follow all the
rules to get the attention of the person she loves.

ordinary like the sun, but its continuous since the light keeps shining day and night, which is why she
uses the candlelight to represent the light she has for him is still on at night. Another image that
Barrett Browning conveys is I love thee freely, as men strive for Right, I love thee purely, as they turn
from Praise . This line shows that her love for him is of her own free choice and she compares it to the
nationalists that fight for their countries, indicating that their love is as strong as a person s love is to

The Federal Reserve System Is The Central Banking System...
Introduction
The Federal Reserve System is the central banking system of the United States. The Federal Reserve
System is there to help out when a series of financial hardships and panics happen in our economy.
One of the leading changes in the Fed system was the Great Depression. This put the economy in a lot
of stress and the banking system in a crisis. There were three objectives for the monetary policy. The
three objectives were to increase employment, target the discount rate, and monitor the interest rates.
The first two objectives can also be known as the Federal Reserve s dual mandate. The Federal
Reserve s dual mandate includes conducting the nation s monetary policy and supervising/regulating
banking institutions. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Purpose
The most important purpose for the Federal Reserve System in our economy is to address any banking
hardships and panics/crisis. Some other reasons are to furnish a flexible currency and to establish a
more effective supervision of banking. In today s world, the financial systems stability is the Federal
Reserve s responsibility.
Current functions of the Federal Reserve System include:
To serve as the central bank for the United States
To address the problem of banking hardships and panics
To manage the nation s money supply through monetary policy
1. Increase employment
2. Stabilize prices, including prevention of either inflation or deflation
3. Monitor long term interest rates
To create a balance between private interests banks and the centralized government
1. To oversee and normalize banking institutions
2. To look after the credit rights of consumers
To strengthen the U.S. economy
To maintain stability of the financial system and contain universal threats of the financial markets
Lender of Last Resort
In the United States, the Federal Reserve serves as the lender of last resort to those organizations that
can t obtain credit elsewhere. Obviously if the Fed were to collapse, there would be serious
consequences for the economy. The Federal Reserve took over this role from the private sector. Being
that it is public or private, the availability of liquidity was intended to prevent making trips to

The Discovery Of The Higgs Boson
The universe is weird. Its positively maddening how, despite knowing so much, we humans only
know four percent of all the knowable stuff the universe has to tell. New discoveries are being made
every day about multitudes of subjects. Cures for diseases, new background into the first organisms to
inhabit the planet, and new advances in personal technology occur so often that it may be difficult to
be shocked by the world around us. However every so often a discovery is made, and an experiment
goes perfectly right. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is that experiment. Well, metaphorically
speaking it is. The universe and science lend themselves well to hyperbole however the truth is never
so simple. The Higgs Boson is the fundamental particle that gives everything mass. The standard
model of physics depends on the Higgs Bosons existence. The Standard Model is an explanation for
how the building blocks of the universe interact with matter(CERN Accelerating Science, The
Standard Model). According to the Standard Model, All matter is made of elementary particles.
Elementary particles are the building blocks of matter and are separated into two groups, Leptons and
Quarks. Both Leptons and Quarks contain groups and generations. The groups, containing six
particles each, are related in pairs known as generations. Quark generations are broken up in three
pairs. Up and Down Quark, Charm and Strange Quark, and Top and Bottom Quark. Leptons are also
grouped in three generations.

Essay about The Perception of Listening
Listen up! Are you really listening? What is listening and why is it important? This paper will address
the viewpoint of listening skills and its outcome. Listening is an essential tool, which is one of the
constructive aspects in the communication process, for communicating with other people. To listen
well is a talent that is learned. However, for people to listen effectively, they would need to practice to
obtain the skill. As with any new skill, learning to listen takes effort, attention, and practice (Stewart,
2006, p. 202). Listening skills allow people to make sense of and understand what another person is
saying. In other words, listening skills allow you to identify with the meaning of what people are
talking about. Listening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since listening plays an essential role in the communication process, developing listening skills are
important because they will help interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. In other words,
the listener should be able to respond to what the speaker talked about for clarification purposes.
Accordingly, becoming a better listener, and depending on the situation, there are three types of
listening strategies that would be beneficial to ensure effective communication with other people.
Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are
three different tactics that can be useful in diverse situations (p. 92).For instance, critical listeners
focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They need to recognize and expect to
learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their viewpoints. Defining Listening
Barriers The second aspect of listening is to avoid the barriers to efficient listening. Since words can
be influential, there are some issues that may get in the way of listening effectively, such as bias,
accents, and noise. These specific matters will result in poor listening communication because there
are some people who are collective listeners because of their favoritism toward specific speakers; the
language is not clear due to diverse accents, and depending on the surroundings, the

Why I Get My Disability

I believe there is a reason for everything that goes on in my life. Everyday there is an unexpected

Impact Of Mongol Conquests
The Mongol conquests and campaigns of the thirteenth century markeddid indeed mark an important
break in Eurasian History as they brought the the Eurasian world together as never before. The
Mongols were a mixture of forest and prairie people that lived by hunting and livestock herding. As
skilled archers and deadly warriors they expanded their empire to stretch across northern and central
Asia conquering territories much larger than their own. This unleashed a chain of events that would
leave an impact on the world for ages to come. Trade integrated cultures from all across Eurasia,
accompanying disease. The Mongols conquests brought unprecedented destruction among Eurasia.
The Mongols did more than just conquer though; they intensified cultural exchange through trade and
actually bringing about a period of peace In Eurasia. As the Mongols built their empire, assimilating
conquered peoples and some of their ways, the world became integrated sea and land, in historically
unrivaled ways. An important break in Eurasian history was undoubtedly the significant destruction
brought forth by the Mongol expansions in the thirteenth century. These conquests initiated by
Chinggis (Ghengis) Khan and continued by his successors reached the Pacific Ocean and the Adriatic
Sea, founding dynasties in China, Persia and on the southern Eurasian steppes. The conquests were
quite brutal, as towns that resisted would be decimated. It has been estimated that up to five percent of

Corruption In The Roman Catholic Church
In Martin Luther s Freedom of a Christian, he talks about many different concepts, one prominent one
being corruption, specifically of the Roman Catholic Church. The most common definition of
corruption means dishonest actions by those in charge, in Luther s case, the Catholic church. A
modern example of corruption would be of the United States in 1972 when President Richard Nixon
conducted the Watergate scandal. However, Luther defines corruption as deviating from the word of
God and not following His teachings. He does not blame those in charge but the church as a whole.
This brings the questions of what constitutes corruption in Luther s term, how corruption comes about,
and how can religion help to stop it? Corruption plagues every aspect of life, yet it s complexity in
nature (Onongha) makes it difficult to identify causes of it. According to Onongha forms of corruption
come to be in many different ways depending on culture. For example, one Christian can become
corrupt by buying indulgences, while another can become corrupt by not living through God and
developing selfish habits. This relates to Luther s definition because it shows how there is more than
one definition of corruption within the Church and things can be corrupt in more ways than one. In
Luther s culture and time period the corruption people were most concerned of could have been what
Luther defined it as, deviation from the one true ruler, God. In addition, corruption is found in more
than places of

Water Temperature And Its Influence On Water Chemistry
Water Temperature Water temperature is important as it influences the water chemistry. As the
temperature increases the amount of oxygen held begins to decrease, this decrease in oxygen may not
be sufficient for aquatic life. Water temperature also affects the photosynthesis of aquatic plants,
sensitivity to pollutants, and the organism s metabolic rates. A measured water temperature of 22℃ is
within the ideal water temperature range. Water temperature varies due to air temperature, shade, and
deeper water temperature.
Air Temperature Air temperature affects the water temperature which impacts the dissolved oxygen
levels and presence of aquatic life. The measured air temperature of 22.7℃ allows for the water
temperature to remain in the ideal range as well as promote good dissolved oxygen levels and
photosynthesis.
Dissolved Oxygen Dissolved oxygen is essential for the aquatic life and vegetation. The warmer the
temperature, the less amount of oxygen dissolved in the water. Dissolved oxygen also decreases with
the increase of decomposition of organic material. Dissolved oxygen levels below 6 mg/L can be
detrimental to aquatic life, causing risk for fish kills. The measured DO level is 4 mg/L, meaning the
water temperature may be too high or there are algal blooms.
Biochemical Oxygen Demand Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is a measure of the oxygen used
by decomposing organic matter. An excessive amount of organic material, such as sewage, manure,
and dead algae,

Cause And Effect Of Bullying In School
Dr.Martin Luther King Jr states that In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the
silence of our friends this quote develops the idea that friends standing up and speaking up for the
victim is more valuable than silence in the moment and they re comfort when no one else is present.
Bullying in school affects the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among
children. Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem or the
solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not know what to do to help,
others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target. To really help in a bullying encounter you
have to know what responsibility you have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the
wrong for leaving the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully
themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young people. For youths it is a
very real possibility that doing the proper thing for someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing
for their own social status. When bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over
50% of the time (bscsd.org bystanders). To empower kids to speak up and stand up they must be
taught how to effectively assess the situation at hand and recognize if it is safe to say something
themselves or better inform and adult about it. As well as teaching them from

The Message For Original Audience
Message for Original Audience/Contemporary Audience:
Original Audience: How did Jesus/Mark want to transform the audience?
Summarize: What is the starting state of the implied audience? What is the new state to which they
should move? What strategies does Jesus/Mark use to move them from starting state to end state?
Mark presents a confrontation between Jesus and the evil spirits that controlled the man. Mark
impressed the audience of the horrible situation the man was in as described in 5:3 using οὐδὲ (not
even) ἁλύσει (anymore) οὐδεὶς (no one). The evil spirits were a legion and they attempted to resist
exorcism but fail. They went into the pigs and went into the sea. People in the town were afraid of the
scene and saw the man restored back to his right mind. They had no idea about Jesus and how this
could happen.
The name of Jesus was spread in the Decapolis through the healed demon possessed man and people
were amazed. People should know that Jesus is not the only the Messiah of the Jewish people but also
the savior of the Gentiles. He has authority over the evil spirits.
Mark is using this confrontation to show that Jesus is the Son of God and has authority over the evil
spirits. The healed man is a good testimony and he is the one spreading the good news about Jesus.

Descriptive Essay About Long Flight
Yawning and still feeling sleep deprived despite having just woken up from a nap, I always forget how
exhausting these long haul flights can be. Although I adore these summer flights flying back and forth
between Vancouver and Japan, it takes a toll on my body. Squirming my way through the aisles,
hopping over loose legs and skimming past lolling heads, I make my way back to the front of the
plane. Working up front is the best; it s quiet and peaceful and overall it smells nicer than economy.
Upon returning to the front galley, my colleague catches me up on what needs to be done before
leaving for her break. She handed out snacks and topped up on beverages 5 minutes ago, however
most of our passengers are sleeping comfortably in their seats wrapped in blankets and neck pillows.
Warning me to pay particular attention to the gentleman at 2H, who has had more than enough
whiskey for the evening, she places a glass of water at his side and disappears behind the curtain to
our crew seats. Peering into the dimly lit cabin, 2H seems to have fallen into a deep and soundless
slumber. Walking through the cabin, I collect empty cups and snack wrappers while topping up half
full water glasses, however everybody is out cold. The few passengers who were stirring are now fast
asleep, mouths hanging open. Glancing over at 2H, I see a Japanese middle aged man (although, he
could have been older...the Japanese age magnificently) dressed rather professionally sitting next to
his wife. Although

The Role of the Supreme Court in the Civil Rights...
The Supreme Court was important in both suppressing and aiding the Civil Rights Movement.
However, decisions taken by the President, the continued white opposition and improvements in
media communications also had an effect. Although all were important, the Civil Rights movement
alone would have reached the same end without the help of the Supreme Court, and the devotion of its
many members and leaders is the major factor in advancing Civil Rights. The Supreme Court is
perhaps most well known for the Brown vs. Board of Education decision in 1954. By declaring that

The second element of the ruling the effect it had on African American supporters and the

for integration6 had been recognised, what Patterson calls the symbolic value of Brown 7. All three
historians agree that African Americans needed some success to motivate the continued struggle, and
this Brown provided. Patterson says activists were extraordinarily heartened by Brown 8. Kevern
Verney talks of a renewed hope 9 given to African Americans. They were similarly helped by Browder
v. Gayle in 1956, which ruled the bus segregation in Montgomery unconstitutional, and Boyton v.
Virginia in 1960, which extended this ruling to waiting rooms and restaurants. According to
Willoughby and Paterson, the clear cut decision came in the knick of time 10 for the protest
movement, which might not have succeeded without the ruling by the court. Even here, however, the
court was unable to enforce the actions. One observer recalled a bus station ... still rigorously
segregated 11, in 1966. These examples show the Supreme Court as advancing the Civil Rights by
passing favourable and motivating rulings, but it certainly fell short when it came to enforcing them.
Taking everything into account, the Supreme Court was a force for change, but not without fault, in
the later 20th century. Civil Rights groups themselves were arguably more important

Slavery In The Middle Passage
The Middle Passage The history of America is encompassed with several instances of violence, wars,
and gruesome practices. One of the biggest events of the slave trade during American history was the
Middle Passage. It took place between the continents of Europe, Africa, and the Americas from the
seventeenth century to the nineteenth centuries. The first part of the voyage carried cargo from Europe
to the African coast, where the goods were exchanged for African captives. In the second phase of the
trade, Africans were traded for European goods. During this time, the slaves were packed like cargo
into the carriages of sailboats and lived in repugnant conditions. The voyages lasted for several
months and had severe effects on those onboard the ships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority were already enslaved within their tribes and were sold to the Europeans by other
Africans (Mannix Cowley 1). After being sold, the slaves were shackled together and placed on a

the slaves had to live and their treatment by the crew. While slaves were given food and water, it was
very infrequently, and if food was scarce, the crewmembers and slaveholders got preferential
treatment over the slaves (Mannix Cowley 6). Slaves resisted in several ways; they either refused to

Hawaiian Monk Seal Essay
The article I read was about Hawaiian monk seals. Obviously the seals are found in Hawaii. The seals
have six main islands in Hawaii where they populate: Kure Atoll, Midway Islands, Pearl and Hermes
Reef, Lisianski Island, Laysan Island, and French Frigate Shoals. The Hawaiian monk seals are named
the official state mammal of Hawaii. The Hawaiian monk seals have a diet that ranges from fish,
squid, octopus, and lobster. The seals hunt mainly at night and during the day they lay on sandy
beaches. The mating season for the seals is mainly from December until mid August. When pup seals
are born they are mainly three feet long and weigh about thirty five pounds. The first month or two the
seals stay with their mother so they are able to nurse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even today more than 30 years later, the seals have the status as the most endangered species in the
United States. The seals population has declined three to four percent every year for the past decade.
With this decrease the seals have seen the lowest number in years. There were 1,100 seals left in
existence. This news is important since the species is only found in Hawaii. It has been in existence
for more than fifteen million years. There is expected to be better news soon. There have been
significant efforts to help the recovery of the species in the past few years, environmentalist have
removed several tons of ocean trash from the seals habitat and moving the seals from an area of low
survival rate to that of a higher survival rate. There are some indications showing that the hard work is
paying off. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) teams reported about 121 pup
seals were born in 2014, which was higher than the amount of pup born in 2013 with 103 pup seals
and in 2012 with 111 pup seals born. So with this information it shows that the hard work is
improving the life of the Hawaiian monk seals. The total population is now estimated to be around
1,200 Hawaiian monk seals. So most of the seals are placed in the Main Hawaiian Islands and the
other seals are placed in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Due to the Hawaiian monk seals being on

Analysis Of The Book Gulliver s Travels Essay
In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan
Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one
would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show for it has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the
literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective, Swift employs scatology to both
shock and attract. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, and normalize the strangeness of
the lands Gulliver visits. By successfully employing elements of the scatological to enhance his novel,
Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. As a result
of the grotesque simply being an exaggeration of reality, Swift by exaggerating the role of bodily
functions highlights makes a private subject public and creates a common thread with his audience.
Realism in the context of literature, is defined by the Carson Newman College as any artistic or
literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions,
or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in
writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to
reflect life as it actually is. The scatological elements that Swift employs are also present across other
artistic forms such as poetry and paintings, and they

Persuasive Essay On Bathroom Laws
For several years now the topic of bathroom regulations have filled the news and social media. Their
are people for and against the changes in bathroom laws. Conservatives hold to the mandate that each
gender should use their appropriate bathrooms. But when you come to the issue of people who are
transgender using the bathroom of their choice therein lies the rub.
The gay rights movement has used the demonstrations and tactics of those who marched with Dr. King
to support their stance on bathroom rights and other litigations. As time goes by states have developed
their own laws regarding gay rights. Several states have changed policies by where people who are
transgender can change their original documentation to include their new gender specific identity.
(Time| U.S.) However, despite the changes in law and the countless conversations about this topic,
there are still many people who are opposed to the law and desires of those who identify as being gay
and transgender. Concerns were raised that these new laws would only fan the already high crime rate
against women and children attacked by predators. If anyone can then gain access to whichever
bathroom they identified with, what safety would exist against those people who are predators? As
protest and debates continue regarding this issue, lawmakers working alongside the courts to clarify
what is considered discrimination and what is considered human rights.

Transforming Species Into Molecular Biology
Transforming Species into Molecular Biology Between 1850 and 1950, the definition of what science
was and what it could become radically changed through means of breakthrough theories, ideas and
experimentations from scientists exploring the realms outside of the traditional religious views. The
method of how science was conducted drastically altered as well. The development of new
technologies allowed scientists to step away from simple observation, towards more sophisticated and
complex research. Through those influential hundred years, one question remained, what is life? And
how do we appropriately characterize it? Because of this, three of sciences revolutionary icons
approached their respective inquiries in different manners. All three men used outside
correspondences with their peers to help them develop their own assumptions and eventually
revolutionizing the concept of science. Watson and Crick s work, along with Darwin s represent some
of the greatest alterations of scientific thought and development of current common beliefs. In this

the types of methods they used to create their deep seated ideas. For example, Darwin found

Pathos In Lightning Crashes Ethos
When most people think of the circle of life they imagine the Lion King, right? They don t think of
any of the realities that actually do happen. They don t think about the people dying in one room while
one is being born in another. Lightning Crashes by Live embodies the circle of life perfectly. Live is
an American rock band originating for York, Pennsylvania. The song was released in September of
1994 as a single for their album Throwing Copper. Ed Kowalczyk, one of the members of Live,
dedicated this song to a high school friend who passed away from a drunk driving collision. The
friend had donated several organs. This song specifically speaks to how she gave a new life to others
by donating her organs. Kowalczyk has said that he envisioned the music video to be in a hospital,
where there is plenty of deaths and births taking place. Instead of that vision, the video takes place in a
home, giving off a more peaceful feeling and a happy ending atmosphere. The opening of the music
video portrays the image of a new mother giving birth in one room, while in another room an elderly
woman is dying, symbolizing one life being brought into the world as another is taken. Even though
Lightning Crashes does not use the appeal of logos, it displays a strong usage of pathos and offers a
credible source of ethos to draw in its listeners. The song practices several emotional metaphors
throughout the lyrics, the music video displays emotional imagery, and it can relate to outside

Arranged Marriages And Love Marriages

Arranged Marriage:
In the broadest sense, marriages have been divided into two general categories; arranged marriages
and love marriages. As the name implies, an arranged marriage is defined as a marriage where the
bride and groom are exclusively selected by a third party (usually their parents), while in a love
marriage, people choose their marital partners based on their feelings or attraction for one another. In
America and Western Europe, marriages based on love, have dominated their cultures for a long time
and, as a result, when it comes to arranged marriages, most American s first reaction would be: Oh!
This kind of marriage is so relentless and incredible, because we have no voice. However, times are
changing, and so is the attitude toward marriage. America is a melting pot, which means it is a
multicultural society, and there are so many immigrants from other countries in America. Due to
international migration, both arranged marriages and love marriages have co existed in peace and
affected each other. Although some argue that arranged couples don t have a choice in choosing their
life partner, we can t deny the benefits of arranged marriages, as it can help them obtain full and
complete support from their families, better understand each other and provide a high possibility for a
successful and happy marriage.
First of all, an arranged marriage can help the bride and the groom gain the acceptance and support

customer a full refund or a replacement for the product. This provides customers with a worry free
experience. There is absolutely no hassle if a product is defective or if the customer simply finds it
unsatisfactory.
Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO also makes it clear that technology is important to the focusing of the
customer. In Amazon s 2010 Annual Report, Bezos said, Look inside a current textbook on software
architecture, and you ll find few patterns that we don t apply at Amazon. We use high performance
transactions systems, complex rendering and object caching, workflow and queuing systems, business
intelligence and data analytics, machine learning and pattern recognition, neural networks and
probabilistic decision making, and a wide variety of other techniques. And while many of our systems
are based on the latest in computer science research, this often hasn t been sufficient: our architects
and engineers have had to advance research in directions that no academic had yet taken. Many of

Pangea Research Paper
As the tsunamis surging like hurricanes, volcanoes bursting into the sky, mountains crumbling into
pieces, the destruction of super continent had begun. I wanted to go to the center of pangea. When I
arrived there were scary dinosaurs and other unnatural animals. I ran away as fast as I could, because
there animals were dangerous. Fortunately, I found a place to hide in. The weather was very windy
and I was barely able to breathe due to the oxygen. It was a terrible and at the same time an intriguing
experience, but I tried my best to survive.
I was there during the late Paleozoic. During the time period, insects such as beetles and dragonflies
flourished. But pangea overlapped with the worst mass extinction in history. Pangea made most
species go extinct. The earth is a dynamic or constantly changing planet. Plates slide slowly on the
mantle s upper layer, which is caused when the mantle s convection currents slowly turning over and
over. These plates have constant motion, which causes earthquakes, mountain building, volcanism and
etc.
The earth is broken down into many pieces called plates. These plates are believed to be moving for
millions of year. The seven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patterns in rock strata are another indicator for the existence of Pangea. Geologists will probably
discover the distinctive patterns in rocks in continents that are now thousands of miles apart. By
having matching patterns it indicates that the two continents and their rocks were at one time one
continent. When the continents were moving, it was very unpleasant because I almost died. The
experience of living during this time period was unsatisfying, therefore, I was able to learn new
information about Pangea and how it happened. My trip was interesting in some sort of way. It was
fun to experience something I haven t experienced

The Importance Of Technology During The Civil War
Technology after the civil war included railroad systems, steamboats and telegraphs. The rail road
systems were important civil war technology. They keep the war moving and also help bring supplies
to troops. The union s railroads and trains were superior to the confederates because the north was all
about industry so they already had railroads and trains all throughout the northern regions. The south
had railroads as well but the didn t have as many tracks. One example of how the railroad systems
being used in the war is the battle of bull run. The railroads we re incredibly important to the south in
this battle because they helped the confederate forces to resupply and reinforce so they could win over
the union. Rail transport was also important with the Confederates in the battle ... Show more content

Steamboats were another type of important technology used during the civil war. Steamboats played a
critical role in the civil war, mostly on the confederate side because they permitted the rapid
movement of heavy cargo up and down the waterways. Both union and confederate armies relied on
steamboats in places like arkansas to move troops and supplies to shipping hubs like jefferson county
and prairie county.
Communication was necessary to win the civil war inventions like the telegraph and the typewriter
were helpful to both armies. An important piece of technology used in the civil war was the telegraph.
The telegraph was one of the most effective technologies used in the civil war. The telegraph was
important because it allowed commanders to instantly communicate with each other. One example of
how the telegraph helped changed america significantly was how abraham lincoln got news on the war
from generals. Utopian communities in 19th century America were considered by most people to
herald a new age in human civilization. Often led by charismatic leaders with high religious

The Reflection Of My Writing On Technology And Technology
Most of the time when I am writing a paper, I do not have a choice on what I am writing. But when I
do get to choose my topic, then I can write about something that I enjoy and feel passionate about. In
my experience with writing, I have chosen many topics. But most of them I probably did not enjoy
writing about that particular topic. There are very few papers that I have written where I really enjoyed
writing. But the paper that I am going to talk about was different for me because I wanted people to
understand my point of view on the subject. And so, I felt compelled to write about the topic that I
chose for this particular essay that I wrote in 9th grade. It is about technology, and its role and effect
on society.
The paper I wrote on technology was an essay. Like most essays, it had 5 paragraphs. An introduction
paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. My teacher also had me write an
outline to the essay, to help me stay organized in my thoughts. In the introduction paragraph I
summarize my main points. I chose three points about technology that I would mention in each of the
body paragraphs. In my first body paragraph, I talk about how technology has affected education and
the way people can learn. In my second body paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the
way we communicate with people. And in the third paragraph, I talk about how technology has
changed the way we entertain ourselves.
I chose to write about technology partially because at the time that I was writing that essay, a close
family member in my household was experiencing health issues when they were around technology.
And so I had to live with very little to no technology for about a year. And that probably sounds like I
was living in a different time era, and sometimes it felt like that. It was really a drastic time for me and
my family. Because in this world, technology is used for everything. And so we had to adapt to not
being with it when we were home. It was a really different experience. But it happened for a reason.
And I learned how to live without constant technology.
Technology has changed education for the better. People have so much knowledge at their fingertips
when they can access

The Writer s Diet Analysis
The Writer s Diet
Helen Sword, in her book, dispenses with vivid and elaborate explanations accompanied with succinct
analysis. The author provides the reader with an easy to follow set of writing principles. What is
perceive to be the most significant take away ideas are the use active verbs at the appropriate time, the
application of concrete language instead of vague abstractions, and avoiding long strings of
prepositional phrases. Additionally, I value the concepts of employing adjectives and adverbs only
when they are applicable in contributing something new to the meaning of a sentence. Another
important idea presented by Sword is that of reducing one s dependence on what she refers to as waste
words : it, this, that, and there (Sword, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Too many books on writing well are far too long and far too detailed. However, this is not with the
case of Sword since she makes the point that writing can be fat only when the writer employs certain
often unnecessary words that she refers to as waste words . According to her, writing can also be fat
when the writer uses overabundance of prepositions, unnecessary adjectives, and poor choice of
adverbs. I also like the manner in which Swords points out that some writers ignore all these rules at
times and write masterpieces. Sword moves on to present Shakespeare and Jane Austin, just to name
two, as perfect examples of such

This article discussed Police, Fire Department, Public Officials responses to emergency incidents and protocols needed by each agency. It will also look into what lapses there is in training and what can be done to improve and be better prepared in case the situation arises again. As George Santayana stated, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. (2016) The journal started off like very few do, with a fictional story. A story of two policemen and how their day was going but took a dramatic change for the worse. This scene was different from normal days, not any day but the 4th of July. • 3. What Was The Erie Canal How the Erie Canal Opened the Door to the Western Frontier After the American Revolution, people s thoughts turned to the American West. But while the thought of going west was in a lot of people s minds, so were thoughts of the restrictions making the move almost impossible. The trip to the west was filled with mountains, forests, rivers and even a few waterfalls. How was this transportation of people and goods to take place? Before the Transcontinental Railway, interstate highways and airplanes changed the shape of our country, there was the New York State Erie Canal system. Although the idea of a canal was perceived in the late 1700 s, it wasn t until the 1790 s that locks and canals on the Mohawk River allowed for boat travel from Schenectady to Oswego and to Seneca Lake in the Finger lakes region of New York. One canal of great significance was the Erie Canal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But because of the drawbacks for commercial waterways with their rapids and waterfalls, Clinton s idea was an excellent one. It played a vital role in the kingdoms and city states that made up all of what the 21st century calls Europe, Asia, and Africa. Trade was critically important in this time period because of the diverse climate that was scattered all across the continent. Due to the climate, every location had different resources that were provided by nature. Without specific resources, specific goods could not be manufactured. Not only that, but since technology was not as advanced as it is now, specific products were not able to exist in areas. The only way to obtain those products was to trade. Two of the many routes that a merchant could use to trade were the Silk Road and the Sea Roads along the Indian Ocean. Of those two roads, the Indian trade route had the most positive impact around the world. It facilitated the trading of mass goods since rather than using animals to transport goods, they used boats. It also provided a type of wind known as Monsoon wind that merchants could benefit from. Finally, the Indian Ocean trade route stretched out at a greater distance than the silk road, which impacted the goods that could be traded. Motor Execution Paper Motor Execution The production of speech demands coordination of laryngeal, respiratory, and orofacial muscles (Simonyan Horwitz, 2011), and once the brain has the framework and layout for what it wants to produce vocally, it can begin to implement its plan. In order to do this, it must leave the cerebrum and begin its journey down the spinal cord, the secondary part of the central nervous system. The journey begins in the motor cortices. Once the signal has been organized, it leaves Broca s area and makes its way towards the motor cortices in the frontal lobe, which include the precentral gyrus (or the primary motor cortex), the premotor cortex, and the supplementary motor area (Ferrand, 2014). The primary motor cortex controls, directs, and coordinates contralateral voluntary movements of skeletal muscles, including the muscles that take part in speech production (Ferrand, 2014). • 27. Corruption In The Roman Catholic Church In Martin Luther s Freedom of a Christian, he talks about many different concepts, one prominent one being corruption, specifically of the Roman Catholic Church. The most common definition of corruption means dishonest actions by those in charge, in Luther s case, the Catholic church. A modern example of corruption would be of the United States in 1972 when President Richard Nixon conducted the Watergate scandal. However, Luther defines corruption as deviating from the word of God and not following His teachings. He does not blame those in charge but the church as a whole. This brings the questions of what constitutes corruption in Luther s term, how corruption comes about, and how can religion help to stop it? Corruption plagues every aspect of life, yet it s complexity in nature (Onongha) makes it difficult to identify causes of it. According to Onongha forms of corruption come to be in many different ways depending on culture. For example, one Christian can become corrupt by buying indulgences, while another can become corrupt by not living through God and developing selfish habits. This relates to Luther s definition because it shows how there is more than one definition of corruption within the Church and things can be corrupt in more ways than one. In Luther s culture and time period the corruption people were most concerned of could have been what Luther defined it as, deviation from the one true ruler, God. In addition, corruption is found in more than places of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Water Temperature And Its Influence On Water Chemistry Water Temperature Water temperature is important as it influences the water chemistry. As the temperature increases the amount of oxygen held begins to decrease, this decrease in oxygen may not be sufficient for aquatic life. Water temperature also affects the photosynthesis of aquatic plants, sensitivity to pollutants, and the organism s metabolic rates. A measured water temperature of 22℃ is within the ideal water temperature range. Water temperature varies due to air temperature, shade, and deeper water temperature. Air Temperature Air temperature affects the water temperature which impacts the dissolved oxygen levels and presence of aquatic life. The measured air temperature of 22.7℃ allows for the water temperature to remain in the ideal range as well as promote good dissolved oxygen levels and photosynthesis. Dissolved Oxygen Dissolved oxygen is essential for the aquatic life and vegetation. The warmer the temperature, the less amount of oxygen dissolved in the water. Dissolved oxygen also decreases with the increase of decomposition of organic material. Dissolved oxygen levels below 6 mg/L can be detrimental to aquatic life, causing risk for fish kills. The measured DO level is 4 mg/L, meaning the water temperature may be too high or there are algal blooms. Biochemical Oxygen Demand Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is a measure of the oxygen used by decomposing organic matter. • 30. Cause And Effect Of Bullying In School Dr.Martin Luther King Jr states that In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends this quote develops the idea that friends standing up and speaking up for the victim is more valuable than silence in the moment and they re comfort when no one else is present. Bullying in school affects the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children. Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target. To really help in a bullying encounter you have to know what responsibility you have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the wrong for leaving the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young people. For youths it is a very real possibility that doing the proper thing for someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing for their own social status. When bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over 50% of the time (bscsd.org bystanders). To empower kids to speak up and stand up they must be taught how to effectively assess the situation at hand and recognize if it is safe to say something themselves or better inform and adult about it. Mark presents a confrontation between Jesus and the evil spirits that controlled the man. Mark impressed the audience of the horrible situation the man was in as described in 5:3 using οὐδὲ (not even) ἁλύσει (anymore) οὐδεὶς (no one). The evil spirits were a legion and they attempted to resist exorcism but fail. They went into the pigs and went into the sea. People in the town were afraid of the scene and saw the man restored back to his right mind. They had no idea about Jesus and how this could happen. The name of Jesus was spread in the Decapolis through the healed demon possessed man and people were amazed. Peering into the dimly lit cabin, 2H seems to have fallen into a deep and soundless slumber. Kevern Verney talks of a renewed hope 9 given to African Americans. They were similarly helped by Browder v. According to Willoughby and Paterson, the clear cut decision came in the knick of time 10 for the protest movement, which might not have succeeded without the ruling by the court. Even here, however, the court was unable to enforce the actions. One observer recalled a bus station ... still rigorously segregated 11, in 1966. One of the biggest events of the slave trade during American history was the Middle Passage. It took place between the continents of Europe, Africa, and the Americas from the seventeenth century to the nineteenth centuries. The first part of the voyage carried cargo from Europe to the African coast, where the goods were exchanged for African captives. The Hawaiian monk seals are named the official state mammal of Hawaii. The Hawaiian monk seals have a diet that ranges from fish, squid, octopus, and lobster. The seals hunt mainly at night and during the day they lay on sandy beaches. The mating season for the seals is mainly from December until mid August. The seals population has declined three to four percent every year for the past decade. With this decrease the seals have seen the lowest number in years. There were 1,100 seals left in existence. This news is important since the species is only found in Hawaii. It has been in existence for more than fifteen million years. There is expected to be better news soon. There have been significant efforts to help the recovery of the species in the past few years, environmentalist have removed several tons of ocean trash from the seals habitat and moving the seals from an area of low survival rate to that of a higher survival rate. There are some indications showing that the hard work is paying off. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) teams reported about 121 pup seals were born in 2014, which was higher than the amount of pup born in 2013 with 103 pup seals and in 2012 with 111 pup seals born. • 38. Analysis Of The Book Gulliver s Travels Essay In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show for it has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective, Swift employs scatology to both shock and attract. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, and normalize the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. By successfully employing elements of the scatological to enhance his novel, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. As a result of the grotesque simply being an exaggeration of reality, Swift by exaggerating the role of bodily functions highlights makes a private subject public and creates a common thread with his audience. Realism in the context of literature, is defined by the Carson Newman College as any artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. They don t think about the people dying in one room while one is being born in another. Lightning Crashes by Live embodies the circle of life perfectly. Live is an American rock band originating for York, Pennsylvania. The song was released in September of 1994 as a single for their album Throwing Copper. Ed Kowalczyk, one of the members of Live, dedicated this song to a high school friend who passed away from a drunk driving collision. The friend had donated several organs. This song specifically speaks to how she gave a new life to others by donating her organs. Kowalczyk has said that he envisioned the music video to be in a hospital, where there is plenty of deaths and births taking place. Instead of that vision, the video takes place in a home, giving off a more peaceful feeling and a happy ending atmosphere. The opening of the music video portrays the image of a new mother giving birth in one room, while in another room an elderly woman is dying, symbolizing one life being brought into the world as another is taken. Arranged Marriages And Love Marriages Wufeng Yuan Patricia France English 1A 5 May 2015 Arranged Marriage: In the broadest sense, marriages have been divided into two general categories; arranged marriages and love marriages. As the name implies, an arranged marriage is defined as a marriage where the bride and groom are exclusively selected by a third party (usually their parents), while in a love marriage, people choose their marital partners based on their feelings or attraction for one another. In America and Western Europe, marriages based on love, have dominated their cultures for a long time and, as a result, when it comes to arranged marriages, most American s first reaction would be: Oh! This kind of marriage is so relentless and incredible, because we have no voice. However, times are changing, and so is the attitude toward marriage. America is a melting pot, which means it is a multicultural society, and there are so many immigrants from other countries in America. Due to international migration, both arranged marriages and love marriages have co existed in peace and affected each other. Although some argue that arranged couples don t have a choice in choosing their life partner, we can t deny the benefits of arranged marriages, as it can help them obtain full and complete support from their families, better understand each other and provide a high possibility for a successful and happy marriage. • 48. The Reflection Of My Writing On Technology And Technology Most of the time when I am writing a paper, I do not have a choice on what I am writing. But when I do get to choose my topic, then I can write about something that I enjoy and feel passionate about. In my experience with writing, I have chosen many topics. But most of them I probably did not enjoy writing about that particular topic. There are very few papers that I have written where I really enjoyed writing. But the paper that I am going to talk about was different for me because I wanted people to understand my point of view on the subject. And so, I felt compelled to write about the topic that I chose for this particular essay that I wrote in 9th grade. It is about technology, and its role and effect on society. The paper I wrote on technology was an essay. Like most essays, it had 5 paragraphs. An introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. My teacher also had me write an outline to the essay, to help me stay organized in my thoughts. In the introduction paragraph I summarize my main points. I chose three points about technology that I would mention in each of the body paragraphs. In my first body paragraph, I talk about how technology has affected education and the way people can learn. In my second body paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we communicate with people. And in the third paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we entertain ourselves. I chose to write about technology partially because at the time that I was writing that essay, a close family member in my household was experiencing health issues when they were around technology. And so I had to live with very little to no technology for about a year. And that probably sounds like I was living in a different time era, and sometimes it felt like that. It was really a drastic time for me and my family. Because in this world, technology is used for everything. And so we had to adapt to not being with it when we were home. It was a really different experience. But it happened for a reason. And I learned how to live without constant technology. Technology has changed education for the better. People have so much knowledge at their fingertips when they can access ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author provides the reader with an easy to follow set of writing principles. What is perceive to be the most significant take away ideas are the use active verbs at the appropriate time, the application of concrete language instead of vague abstractions, and avoiding long strings of prepositional phrases. Additionally, I value the concepts of employing adjectives and adverbs only when they are applicable in contributing something new to the meaning of a sentence. Another important idea presented by Sword is that of reducing one s dependence on what she refers to as waste words : it, this, that, and there (Sword, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Too many books on writing well are far too long and far too detailed. However, this is not with the case of Sword since she makes the point that writing can be fat only when the writer employs certain often unnecessary words that she refers to as waste words . According to her, writing can also be fat when the writer uses overabundance of prepositions, unnecessary adjectives, and poor choice of adverbs. I also like the manner in which Swords points out that some writers ignore all these rules at times and write masterpieces. Sword moves on to present Shakespeare and Jane Austin, just to name two, as perfect examples of such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
