Kamala And Siddhartha Similarities
Govinda is Siddhartha s childhood friend , and his loyal companion. Siddhartha and Govinda devote
their life on a quest for enlightenment and understanding. Govinda benefits from religious community
and doctrine and seeks instruction from individuals who have achieved enlightenment. He relies on
others to help him determine when he is on the right path. Ultimately Govinda attain enlightenment,
showing us that enlightenment has different paths. The similarities between the two characters
demonstrate that determination, persistence, and patience are necessary traits for achieving a spiritual
awakening. The relationship between Govinda and Siddhartha forms a circular path. As young boys

Common Sense was an addressing for the America people, I doubt Thomas Paine intended the book to
go beyond print and into the realm of digital media eight years ago. Now America again is about to
elect another commander and chief on November 8th, I felt it was time to reinstate the words of

Pre 1776, America may have chosen Empire rather than Republic, alas the strong British connection

Objectivity And Journalism
Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be
impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity
means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most
importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence.
We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased
and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as
being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky
News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on
the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity.
Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught.
It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular
party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends
to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality
or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts,
information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment.

AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA
AGRI 4000 PRACTICING THE PROFESSION OF AGROLOGIST

Introduction
The agriculture industry in Nigeria has opportunities that are not maximized due to challenges it is
facing.
Background
Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with a population of 177,155,754 and was governed by
the British government till October 1st, 1960 when Nigeria gained independence. The Capital of
Nigeria is Abuja located in the centre of the country. Nigeria is located in West Africa between Benin
and Cameroon. Natural resources include natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food security is still a major issue in Nigeria as a large percentage of the societies are agrarian
societies. The government has to concentrate more on the development of modern technology and
increase financial investment in the agricultural sector. Nigerian agricultural productivity is still low
when compared to major producers in the world (FAO, 2013). It has both human and natural resources
that can make it to be among the best economies in the world. Nigeria has been working on reform
agenda for the past few years.
Furthermore, economic growth is targeted towards domestic market. This is driven by strong
performance of agriculture, trade, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. However, this
strong economic growth has not led to higher employment rates. Unemployment is still a major issue
in Nigeria. The government addresses the public s dissatisfaction in its governance with promises to
make job creation a priority. Nigerian government is targeting information communication technology
(ICT), entertainment, meat, leather, and construction and tourism industries for job creation. Nigeria is
made up of about 200 ethnic groups. There are more than 400 languages in Nigeria. The main ethnic
groups are Hausa Fulani in the North, Ibo in the Southeast and Yoruba in the Southwest. Nigeria plays
a key role in the African Union, the New Partnership for Africa s Development (NEPAD), and the
Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS)(The World Bank,

T. J Change In The Short Story Antaeus By Borden Deal
Today s society has changed immensely over the years. Now it is okay to be who you truly are and to
not be judged by society. But years ago, unique people were judged and put down by society: such as
in the story Antaeus . The character T.J. is different from his town, but becomes accepted by his
friends, but unfortunately not by adults, who put him down. In the short story Antaeus by Borden
Deal, the character T.J. is a representation of man, who is unique from the rest of his town s society,
which sparks purpose in friends, but they ultimately fail at the hands of authority figures.
T.J. moves from the South to a new town in the North, where he meets the town s boys and they
gradually realize his uniqueness from themselves. T.J. moved from the South, because of the supply of
jobs in the North. As he arrives, the town s boy gang meet T.J. to see if he could join the gang. As they
were talking to T.J. about where he was from, they asked him about his name, and what T.J. stood for.
T.J. answered that his name is just T.J., and when he spoke his voice was resolute with the knowledge
of his rightness and for a moment no one had anything to say (Deal 100). As T.J. spoke his voice was
resolute or purposeful, which eventually will spark the boys to gain purpose in the future. Also, his

we try and embrace uniqueness, but if an idea is very different, authority seems to destroy it, like

J.R.R Tolkien and WWI Influence in The Lord of the Rings War has affected the lives of people since
the beginning of civilization. Even General Sherman, famous for his March to the Sea in America s
Civil War, was known for his saying, War is Hell. That idea would only prove to be all too true for the
soldiers of World War I. J.R.R Tolkien was among the young men that struggled for survival in the
damp and deplorable trenches as enemy fire hailed from the sky and bombs decimated the terrain
around them. Many soldiers returned home, physically and mentally traumatized. J.R.R. Tolkien was
no different, and returned home from the war after losing two of his closest friends, suffering from
trench fever, and struggling to acclimate back into normal civilian life (Wood 7). The war left an
imprint on him, just as it did many other WWI writers, such as Ernest Hemingway and Robert Graves
(Ott 1). Tolkien used his writings as a way to escape his trauma, but the scars followed him even into
his mythopedia of Middle earth as he wrote The Lord of the Rings. Sam, Frodo, and other characters,
like Aragorn, suffered through similar physical tribulations such as horrid sights of rotting corpses, as
well as emotional struggles, such as feelings of despair, similar to the soldiers of World War I (Ott 5).
The various emotional and physical vicissitudes that Sam and Frodo encountered were similar to those

Lost In The Barens Essay
Lost in the Barrens Elexis Bollinger The title of my book is Lost in the Barrens, it is written by Farley
Mowat and it contains 244 pages. The main characters are Jamie Macnair and Awasin Meewasin.
Jamie is a very dynamic character, his decisions influence many major events in the story. For
example it was Jamie s idea to travel to the stone house. Awasin sems very wise for his age, he now a
lot about surviving in the wilderness. His knowledge had saved them many times. There are a few
other minor characters like Denikazi and An7gus Macnair but that s about it. This book is about two
boys who come along on a hunting hunting with the chief of a band of Chipeweyans. They separate
from the group to visit the great stone house but to get there they must travel across violent rapids.
When their canoe crashes they find themselves trapped in the barren lands. With winter soon
approaching the boys must learn to survive in these harsh conditions. Surviving the harsh winter isn t
their only problem, they walk on eskimo territory. But little do they know the eskimos are their only
ticket home. The setting is placed up North in the barrens, probably near the Hudson s Bay. The barren

Antibiotic Resistance
Introduction
This article is about the determination of Antibiotic resistance that relies on the fitness effects of
resistance elements in the absence of antibiotics. Angst and Hall tentatively developed rifampicin
resistant and delicate Escherichia coli in drug free environment, before measuring the impacts of new
resistance components on fitness in antibiotic free conditions. Streptomycin resistance changes had
little fitness impacts in rifampicin resistant genotypes that had adjusts to antibiotic free environment ,
contrasted with the same genotypes without acclimatization. They watched a comparative impact
when resistance was encoded by a plasmid. Antibiotic sensitive microorganisms that acclimated to the
same conditions indicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Resistant microorganisms obtain extra helpful changes throughout advancement without antibiotic s
that don t modify resistance straightforwardly however may change the fitness impacts of new
resistance transformations (Angst and Hall, 2013). It is critical that researchers study this theme on the
grounds that fitness impacts of resistance transformations frequently fluctuate relying upon the
vicinity of other resistance changes on the same genome. Furthermore, it is likewise essential to study
this issue so as to minimize the development of microbes into antibiotic resistant superbugs that could
conceivably make a worldwide health crisis.
Methods
The researchers theory is that antibiotic resistance goes through extra valuable transformations
throughout development without antibiotic s that don t adjust resistance specifically however may
change the fitness impacts of new resistance changes. They saw that later work prescribes: fitness
impacts of resistance transformations regularly differ relying upon the vicinity of other resistance
changes on the same genome, yet they also realized that, resistance evolution will frequently be joined
by the obsession of fixation of additional mutations that don t argue resistance however expand fitnes.
One experiment that they did to test their hypothesis was to tentatively advance

The Dead
Some say that people never change. They may be right, but no one really knows. What people do
know is that every living person has one thing in common, something that will never change.
Everyone will die, there s no way around it. Every new and old generation will succumb to the same
ghastly fate. The differences in the old generation and new generation sometimes collide in life. The
contrast between generations in James Joyce s The Dead is similar to the contrast in the generations
today. The baby boomer generation is the old fashioned generation preoccupied with hospitality and
tradition, where as, generation x is the new generation, preoccupied with knowledge and intellect. ...

This generation is preoccupied with the search for knowledge. The new generation is educated and
knows things that the older generation has no concept of, which was evident several times during
Gabriel s speech at the dinner table. Gabriel s aunt did not understand what Gabriel speech was about,
but she still smiled and was hospitable which corresponds with the qualities of her generation. The
newer generation is always tormented with thought. They are constantly thinking of what some one
else is thinking, or some one else is feeling. Gabriel is distraught when he tries to understand his wife
and why she is upset. When he finds out what the problem is, he finds out he was wrong and he doesn
t know everything, although he sometimes thinks so. The newer generation tries to better themselves
through knowledge, but sometimes fails because of the lack of passion and the qualities of the older
generation.
The generations in The Dead differ because what one has, the other lacks. The older generation
overflows with generosity, compassion, and hospitality, lacking knowledge. The newer generation is
growing in knowledge and education, but fails to express the love and nationalism that the older
generation displays. The gap in generations is a common way of life that is evident between
generations today. The generations are linked only in that they will experience the love and loss

Shooting Free Throw
Shooting Free Throws.
Shooting free throws should be the easiest thing about basketball, but some people just cannot get the
hang of it. It seems to be easy because of the word free , and there is no defence. You are unguarded,
straight in front of the basket, and only 15 feet away. Free throws haunt players at every level of
basketball. A free throw is only worth one point when made, but one point can win or lose you the
game. I will be telling you the perfect form and technique to shooting and making a free throw.
First, you have to find a way to get in the zone and be comfortable. Everyone is focused on you, but
you need to be focusing on the shot you re about to take. That is a lot easier said than done because
there are millions of eyes watching just you. The fans, cheerleaders, and the mascots are just a few of
the distractions. When practicing your freethrow always have a mental thought like you re in the game
and you re going to sink it. Nothing else matters once you re on the free throw line, you need to be
clear minded to take a good shot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one has the exact same shooting routine, you will just have to come up with one on your own. A
routine will help to get you in the zone and get you concentrated on the shot you are about to take.

line, dribble a couple times, spin the ball, and keep an eye on their target the entire time. That helps to
blur the distractions and get you fully focused on the free

Nuclear Fission Lab Report
NUCLEAR FISSION
INTRODUCTION
Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassman, two German chemists discovered the process of nuclear fission on
17th December, 1938. However, it was theoretically explained later by two Austrian British physicists,
Lise Meitner and Otto Robert Frisch in the 1939. Nuclear fission is the process by which a heavy
nucleus disintegrates or decays into two lighter nuclei of slightly similar weights when they absorb
slow moving neutrons known as thermal neutrons. The nuclei undergoing disintegration is known as
the parent nuclei and the nuclei s formed after the decay are known as the daughter nuclei. Along with
the daughter nuclei very large amount of energy is also released and some gamma photons are also
released. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this explanation they assumed the nucleus of a heavy atom to be comparable to a spherical drop of
liquid. The spherical shape of the liquid drop is maintained due to surface tension of water and also
due columbic force of attraction. When a neutron is absorbed by the nuclei its energy is increased due
to increased oscillations, due to which there is change in the spherical shape of the water droplet to
ellipsoidal. if further there is increase in the oscillating energy, the columbic force of attraction
between the nucleons decreases so the shape becomes more irregular and becomes dumb bell. The
surface tension of water tends to make the water droplet to obtain its original shape which, finally,
takes place by breaking the water droplet into two smaller water droplets of almost comparable sizes.
Similarly, the nuclear fission process can be explained. The following diagram below shows various
steps in the liquid drop

the person v.s person is mostly based on a confrontation between two people. This consist of fighting,

increWhen the United States first went to war President Bush thought it was a good idea to cut taxes.
...this was the first time in American history that a president took us into a war and cut taxes (Farley,

lowered tax rates prior to and during the Iraq War the United States was put in a difficult predicament.
We were required to borrow large sums of money from other countries to finance the war. This is a
large part of why we are struggling with a national debt issue today. As of today the United States has
accumulated over $18 trillion in national debt. Of that $18 trillion, one third can be attributed to the

Many residents of the microbiota have the ability to become opportunistic pathogens if there is a
breach into internal host territory. For this reason, there are two methods utilized by the host that can
be described as a confinement of microbes to intestinal regions and the stratifying of this region to
prevent direct contact to host cells as a means of protection. The presence of a layer of intestinal
epithelial cells coupled with the secretion of glycoproteins from goblet cells to produce a mucus layer
and antimicrobial proteins to disrupt cell membrane are components of the primary barrier in defense.
Additionally, stratification creates distinct layers within the intestinal region through the production of
IgA antibodies by B cells which can be placed on the apical side of epithelial cells to further prevent
entry by binding to bacteria in the lumen (Hooper 2012). An additional mechanism of IgA consists of
the decreasing of flagellin gene expression in bacteria in order to reduce host inflammatory responses
to cells comprised of flagellin. The secretion of IgA is involved in various functions that regulate the
healthy growth of resident commensals to maintain both the diversity and interaction of the gut
microbiota with the host

plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the most dramatic of
fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love with someone and then a
moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with elegant speeches and coddling
up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this scene particularly hilarious because he
was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Of course, all of this was for naught because Luz
ended up kissing Joe Hubbard s character David Bliss in act two and also Rascher proclaimed his
engagement to Caitlin Stagemoller s character, Jackie Coryton. Rascher made his voice more shrill
and audible to appear to be more dramatic and create more attention for himself. In the same way,
Rascher used grander gestures with his arms (flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect.
The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. Steven Wrentmore, the Director, kept the
1920 s feel by dressing in all 1920 s costumes and everyone spoke as if they were living at

Thalidomide In The 1950 s
Thalidomide is a pharmaceutical that was introduced in the 1950 s that was a seemingly simple drug
that was prescribed to take care of many ailments. Thalidomide was marketed to help with all kinds of
symptoms from the flu to morning sickness to something as simple as helping you sleep. It was
considered a medical panacea. The drug had many key selling points. Not only could Thalidomide
help with many symptoms, it was also marketed as safe for everyone including pregnant women.
When testing Thalidomide the LD50 seemed nonexistent. Additionally, as they increased the dose of
thalidomide to find a threshold, they found none. (The Shadow of Thalidomide, NYTimes).

A Case Of A Horrific Disaster
In case of a horrific disaster you re always supposed to have a plan of action, and in case it doesn t
work you re in need of a backup plan. For example, pretend as if a zombie apocalypse has occurred
and we are playing the role of the policemen and firemen in the community that has just been attacked
by the infected. Our job is to ensure that the women, men, and children are safe. However in order to
protect the city we need to evacuate the people, communicate to the survivors we were left behind,
find a means of transporting the citizens to safe locations, and shelter the ones who no longer have a
home or a safe place to live temporarily.
Our first step is to evacuate the citizens before they are attacked by the infected, but we must ... Show

department will be in charge of making sure everyone exits the building safely, to check people for

the citizens to pack lightly with essentials such as food, bottled water, and first aid kits. Also, we want
to take the highest safety precautions when dealing with infected because we do not want any other to
become infected so masks will be handed out for airborne diseases.
To continue the evacuation process the police department will direct and lead the citizens that will

The Transformation of Society in The City of the End of...
The future of society is an often unpredictable topic due to its many variables. In The Lost Island and
in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the society each
story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is manifested in the
visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people by the arrival of the
colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , this concept is expressed
through the downfall of greater human society in favour of a colder, more robotic age. These two texts
exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on the harmful possibilities that may befall
society. Each of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem The City of the End of Things , the narrator recalls the manner in which humanity existed
before the rise of the technological era so that the current environment has a greater impact. The story
The Lost Island represents the status of the Aboriginal people as the confirmation of a prophecy which
foretold their inevitable oppression. This detrimental state of their society is the result of the foreseen
arrival of the non Aboriginal people to Vancouver. The prophecy that foretold this states of the people
is told by the character known only as my old tallicum [friend] (Johnson 233). Within the story, this
character is telling another, unnamed character, a specific story about the history of their people
(Johnson 233). According to this story, an old medicine man was once plagued by visions of the
future. He was described as hearing voices throughout his life, which told him about the inevitable
arrival of the white man...many hundreds of them, many thousands of them (Johnson 234). The
prophecy continued, claiming that the Indians will learn [the white man s] ways...will become as they
are...it will be as if the Indians had lost all bravery, all courage, all confidence (Johnson 234). The
accuracy of this prophecy is made clear in earlier passages of the story. The Lost Island began with the
main character saying, we Indians have lost...our lands...[our] language and the legends and the
traditions... (Johnson 233). From this it is

The Five Stages In The Development Of Human Growth And...
While reading through Chapter 1, there were a lot of eye openers. While reading, the realization of
important factors that determines what kind of adult a child will be. Two developments of human
growth are Continuous and Discontinuous. Continuous Development is the process in which there is
gradual improvement through systematic exercise, and Discontinuous Development is based off the
stepping stones of infant through adulthood human growth (Woolfolk Perry, 2015). These are
characterized by the qualitative differences in behavior. As children grow from prenatal, ages 0 to 2
years old, to becoming an adolescence, 11 and above, they can learn and better understand what is
going on in the world around them, which in turn teaches a life lesson. There are 5 stages in the
development of life for a human. The five stages are prenatal (conception to birth), infancy (birth to 2
years), early childhood (ages 2 to 6), middle childhood (ages six to eleven), and adolescence (11 and
up). Throughout each stage, there are new developments that take place in a child s life. Many factors
go into growth development and how a child will turn out as an adult, including but not limited to,
social skills, sociodemographic, ethnicity and culture, adoption or biological, protection and risk,
health, corporal punishment, environmental, parental/sibling relationships, risk taking, and self
regulation (Shriver, 2014). As a parent, I never realized how many factors that there are, yet my family

Life Coaching History Essay
The History of Life Coaching and Why You Should Care
Life coaching does not have a precise date marking its beginnings since humans developed the innate
ability to gain knowledge and enlightenment back at the beginning of civilization. However, the
theoretical origins of life coaching can be traced to a number of disciplines including business
management, sports psychology and targeted individual development techniques such as primal
therapy and sensitivity training. The idea took off as recent as the 90 s with the entrenchment of social
imagination as one of the core values defining the science and art of coaching. This development is
attributed to the advances made in the 70 s and 80 s, when this form of coaching took the self help and
business dimension.
The term life coaching is currently unregulated; this means people can use the term at their discretion.
However, there have been attempts by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the
International Coach Federation to come up with an operative code of conduct. The standards are
designed to set principles that players in the industry will need to abide by as life coaches. Coaching in
the new age is about providing a framework that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experience different desires, temptations, insecurities, fears and impulses. With all these varied
emotions, what matters is learning how to control raw emotions and reactions. In most cases, swings

Voter Registration Essay
Voter registration is a simple process of enrollment that grants permission to vote in elections. Voting
is a right by the United States citizen, which is not exercised by many people. For this reason, the
United States lacks representation by its people in where the citizens have the power to make a

determine the fate of the country. Reasons for an individual not registering are not well informed, lack
of interest in politics, and believe their vote does not count due to the Electoral College. However,

Argumentative Essay On Immigration Rights
Immigration rights and importance is one of the United States biggest issues. Many believe that legal
immigrants are treated as normal citizens. But they are not. Law enforcement breaks laws and are
unconstitutional. Also, the government believes that immigrants take resources and are a danger to
society. But is all of this true. Do immigrants take or provide resources? Do immigrants get as equal
treatment as natural born citizens? I believe that immigrants provide more resources than they take.
Also I believe that they do not get the same treatment as natural born citizens. The common good of
immigrants and immigration is that they give our economy a boost and immigrants help work forces.
Also, if the immigrant is legal shouldn t they have the same individual rights as a natural born citizen.
This issue is important because it is one of the biggest debates in the United States today.
So what is immigration? Immigration is defined as the travel into a country for the purpose of

Argumentative Essay On Drinking Water
The laws regulating the tap water is 35 years old and is out of date. 35 years ago the country was a
completely different place. The Safe Drinking Water Act only regulates 91 contaminants in the water
that we drink, but there are more than 60,000 chemicals within the water that the people drink within
the United States of America based on the information taken from the Environmental Protection
Agency. According to an analysis taking by government records, both scientist and government have
inspected thousands of cancer causing chemicals within the last decade, and the identified chemicals
are affiliated with cancer and other harmful diseases within the drinking water. As bad as it sounds,
not one of the chemicals has been added to the list of those regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act
since 2000. Other studies of shown that some of the law regulated chemicals are not as toxic as
previously known. The problem is, that the standards for those toxic chemicals have not been updated
since the 1980s and there still some unchanged laws that were passed in 1974. In 2004, more than 62
Million Americans have been exposed to drinking water that was below standard. An observation from
the Times says that over nineteen million test results from the District of Columbia and the 45 states
that made data available.

A Study On Seismic Wave
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF LITRETURE
2.1 Introduction
Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were
found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of
hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because
improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera,
1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has
been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to
unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired and
processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small angular
ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic properties
of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long offset and multi
component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic wave propagation
in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller scale, stresses in the Earth
can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are aligned, the rock will be
anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow direction perpendicular to
them. In ideal cases, these observations can provide

Drug Abuse Prevention Programs
Running head: DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION
Drug Abuse Prevention Programs:
Effectiveness of DARE and Project ALERT
Drug Abuse Prevention Programs:
Effectiveness of DARE and Project ALERT Although drug use among secondary school students
appears to have leveled off during the late 1990s, US adolescents continue to use alcohol, tobacco, and
marijuana at unacceptably high rates. Among eighth graders, 52% have tried alcohol, 41% have tried
cigarettes, and 20% have tried marijuana. By 12th grade these rates are substantially higher, with large
numbers of adolescents engaging in regular drug use (Ellickson, Bell, McGuigan, 1993). In spite of
numerous programs implemented in elementary, middle, and high schools to prevent drug, alcohol,

The DARE officer is required to undergo 80 hours of special training in the area of child development,
classroom management, teaching techniques, and communication skills, combined with an additional
40 hours to prepare them to teach the high school curriculum (Ennett et al., 1994). This training is
required of all DARE Officers prior to facilitating a DARE program. Additionally, this training equips
the officer with the knowledge and expertise to answer questions posed by the students, regarding
drugs and crime, while in the classroom (Kochis, 2001). Since its initial development and
implementation in Los Angeles, DARE has been replicated, expanded, and implemented all over the
country. The seemingly overwhelming commitment and support for this program as a drug prevention
program for youths is a puzzle. Not only does it come at a time of limited economic resources, but
there is little empirical evidence of the success of DARE as a deterrent to drug use (Lynam et al.,
1991). Lynam et al. (1991) tracked over 1,000 Midwestern students who participated in Project DARE
in the sixth grade. These students were reevaluated at age 20, ten years after receiving the drug
prevention education. The study compared pre DARE levels of cigarette, alcohol, marijuana and illicit
drug use of the students to such use at age 20. Although the DARE intervention produced a few initial
improvements in the students attitudes

Epistemology Vs. Theory Of Knowledge
Epistemology, technically speaking, covers one third of all philosophical enquiry, and it is the branch
most concerned with faith.
Epistemology, or the theory of knowledge, is always asking questions like, how do you know that,
how do you know anything, what is knowledge, what signifies knowledge as fact as opposed to an
opinion? How to you get to fact from opinion?
I use epistemological questions to level the playing field across all my work. Here are some examples:
In Broad Apologetic Theory
When entering a new classroom I often get the students to describe their worldview. I do this by
giving everyone a blank sheet of paper and asking a series of questions that determine what they
know, what they think they know, what their priorities are, and what they truly care about deep down.
These questions range from who is the most important person in the world to why are you here and
each question is followed by an epistemological question such as how do you know that, why do you
think that, or how can you be certain that s true?
The result of this exercise is a wide variety of worldviews (or dare I say religions) that hinge on a
varying degree of faith. Even those who thought that they had an incredibly naturalistic, empirical or
scientific approach to life need to admit a large reliance of faith.
In Specific Apologetic Questions
When responding to specific questions about God s existence such as, how can you believe in a God
when evil exists , or hasn t

Author of The Age of Reason. Common Sense was an addressing for the America people, I doubt Thomas Paine intended the book to go beyond print and into the realm of digital media eight years ago. Now America again is about to elect another commander and chief on November 8th, I felt it was time to reinstate the words of Thomas Paine s Common Sense; it s avidly a man s sentiment for a nation; whereby comprehending the nation s origin and do so with a honour and duty is vital to the role of a President. Deep respect resides for centuries and in our weak hours during the Battle for Britain, the Americans came to our aid. Not much has changed during the seventy years, the special relationship remains; common sense prevailed and we continued to co exist in our unbreakable ideology, in the free world Civilised nations idolized the Western ideology and replicate it as a vigorous form of idealism. Pre 1776, America may have chosen Empire rather than Republic, alas the strong British connection albeit, the caste system i.e. slavery had annexed off into undisclosed societal divisions, Thomas Paine of Thetford didn t adhere to the in justness of servitude. In fact Britain republican virtues were non existent, the values were notably borne to America not transmitted / inherited. What is exposed is the germinal moral energy of Paine, for he who knew of the Welsh coal miners who fled their grim valleys and whose sorrowful place names still dot the map of Pennsylvania, to which the Americans bought a piece of tradition and organization; see the Appalachian Mountains, renown for anthracite mining. Under the chapter: of the origins and design of governments in general, remarks on English Constitution; Paine delivers on Absolute governments are necessary because of the disgrace of human nature; if the people suffer then they know where their sufferings springs from, and ... • 4. Objectivity And Journalism Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence. We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity. Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught. It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts, information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Food security is still a major issue in Nigeria as a large percentage of the societies are agrarian societies. The government has to concentrate more on the development of modern technology and increase financial investment in the agricultural sector. Nigerian agricultural productivity is still low when compared to major producers in the world (FAO, 2013). It has both human and natural resources that can make it to be among the best economies in the world. Nigeria has been working on reform agenda for the past few years. Furthermore, economic growth is targeted towards domestic market. This is driven by strong performance of agriculture, trade, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. However, this strong economic growth has not led to higher employment rates. Unemployment is still a major issue in Nigeria. The government addresses the public s dissatisfaction in its governance with promises to make job creation a priority. Nigerian government is targeting information communication technology (ICT), entertainment, meat, leather, and construction and tourism industries for job creation. • 6. T. J Change In The Short Story Antaeus By Borden Deal Today s society has changed immensely over the years. Now it is okay to be who you truly are and to not be judged by society. But years ago, unique people were judged and put down by society: such as in the story Antaeus . The character T.J. is different from his town, but becomes accepted by his friends, but unfortunately not by adults, who put him down. In the short story Antaeus by Borden Deal, the character T.J. is a representation of man, who is unique from the rest of his town s society, which sparks purpose in friends, but they ultimately fail at the hands of authority figures. T.J. moves from the South to a new town in the North, where he meets the town s boys and they gradually realize his uniqueness from themselves. T.J. moved from the South, because of the supply of jobs in the North. As he arrives, the town s boy gang meet T.J. to see if he could join the gang. As they were talking to T.J. about where he was from, they asked him about his name, and what T.J. stood for. T.J. answered that his name is just T.J., and when he spoke his voice was resolute with the knowledge of his rightness and for a moment no one had anything to say (Deal 100). • 7. Analysis Of The Lord Of The Rings Danielle McDermott Dr. Oldakowski College Writing Research Paper 12/3/14 J.R.R Tolkien and WWI Influence in The Lord of the Rings War has affected the lives of people since the beginning of civilization. Even General Sherman, famous for his March to the Sea in America s Civil War, was known for his saying, War is Hell. That idea would only prove to be all too true for the soldiers of World War I. J.R.R Tolkien was among the young men that struggled for survival in the damp and deplorable trenches as enemy fire hailed from the sky and bombs decimated the terrain around them. Many soldiers returned home, physically and mentally traumatized. J.R.R. Tolkien was no different, and returned home from the war after losing two of his closest friends, suffering from trench fever, and struggling to acclimate back into normal civilian life (Wood 7). The war left an imprint on him, just as it did many other WWI writers, such as Ernest Hemingway and Robert Graves (Ott 1). Tolkien used his writings as a way to escape his trauma, but the scars followed him even into his mythopedia of Middle earth as he wrote The Lord of the Rings. Sam, Frodo, and other characters, like Aragorn, suffered through similar physical tribulations such as horrid sights of rotting corpses, as well as emotional struggles, such as feelings of despair, similar to the soldiers of World War I (Ott 5). The various emotional and physical vicissitudes that Sam and Frodo encountered were similar to those suffered by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it was theoretically explained later by two Austrian British physicists, Lise Meitner and Otto Robert Frisch in the 1939. Nuclear fission is the process by which a heavy nucleus disintegrates or decays into two lighter nuclei of slightly similar weights when they absorb slow moving neutrons known as thermal neutrons. The nuclei undergoing disintegration is known as the parent nuclei and the nuclei s formed after the decay are known as the daughter nuclei. In this explanation they assumed the nucleus of a heavy atom to be comparable to a spherical drop of liquid. The spherical shape of the liquid drop is maintained due to surface tension of water and also due columbic force of attraction. When a neutron is absorbed by the nuclei its energy is increased due to increased oscillations, due to which there is change in the spherical shape of the water droplet to ellipsoidal. if further there is increase in the oscillating energy, the columbic force of attraction between the nucleons decreases so the shape becomes more irregular and becomes dumb bell. The surface tension of water tends to make the water droplet to obtain its original shape which, finally, takes place by breaking the water droplet into two smaller water droplets of almost comparable sizes. Many residents of the microbiota have the ability to become opportunistic pathogens if there is a breach into internal host territory. For this reason, there are two methods utilized by the host that can be described as a confinement of microbes to intestinal regions and the stratifying of this region to prevent direct contact to host cells as a means of protection. The presence of a layer of intestinal epithelial cells coupled with the secretion of glycoproteins from goblet cells to produce a mucus layer and antimicrobial proteins to disrupt cell membrane are components of the primary barrier in defense. Additionally, stratification creates distinct layers within the intestinal region through the production of IgA antibodies by B cells which can be placed on the apical side of epithelial cells to further prevent entry by binding to bacteria in the lumen (Hooper 2012). An additional mechanism of IgA consists of the decreasing of flagellin gene expression in bacteria in order to reduce host inflammatory responses to cells comprised of flagellin. • 30. Argumentative Essay On Immigration Rights Immigration rights and importance is one of the United States biggest issues. Many believe that legal immigrants are treated as normal citizens. But they are not. Law enforcement breaks laws and are unconstitutional. Also, the government believes that immigrants take resources and are a danger to society. But is all of this true. Do immigrants take or provide resources? Do immigrants get as equal treatment as natural born citizens? I believe that immigrants provide more resources than they take. Also I believe that they do not get the same treatment as natural born citizens. The common good of immigrants and immigration is that they give our economy a boost and immigrants help work forces. Also, if the immigrant is legal shouldn t they have the same individual rights as a natural born citizen. This issue is important because it is one of the biggest debates in the United States today. So what is immigration? Immigration is defined as the travel into a country for the purpose of permanent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bolanos and Mr. Cardenas were working. ICE was not invited into the place of work and did not have a warrant, but they still entered the house. This violating the Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Mr.Cardenas even pointed out that they were breaking the law, they did not care. ICE entered the house with suspicion of Mr. Bolanos, who is a legal immigrant, being illegal. They arrested Mr.Bolanos, without notifying him of why he was being arrested. This is a violation of the Sixth Amendment of the Bill of Rights. ICE was forced to release this man, because they arrested him without notifying him why and they entered the house without a warrant or welcoming. (New York TImes) So how is this fair? A legal immigrant who is just trying to make a living and have a good life, was deprived of his rights. This is not fair at all. All immigrants should have equal rights as natural born ... • 31. Argumentative Essay On Drinking Water The laws regulating the tap water is 35 years old and is out of date. 35 years ago the country was a completely different place. The Safe Drinking Water Act only regulates 91 contaminants in the water that we drink, but there are more than 60,000 chemicals within the water that the people drink within the United States of America based on the information taken from the Environmental Protection Agency. According to an analysis taking by government records, both scientist and government have inspected thousands of cancer causing chemicals within the last decade, and the identified chemicals are affiliated with cancer and other harmful diseases within the drinking water. As bad as it sounds, not one of the chemicals has been added to the list of those regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act since 2000. Other studies of shown that some of the law regulated chemicals are not as toxic as previously known. The problem is, that the standards for those toxic chemicals have not been updated since the 1980s and there still some unchanged laws that were passed in 1974. In 2004, more than 62 Million Americans have been exposed to drinking water that was below standard. An observation from the Times says that over nineteen million test results from the District of Columbia and the 45 states that made data available. • 32. A Study On Seismic Wave CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF LITRETURE 2.1 Introduction Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera, 1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired and processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small angular ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic properties of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long offset and multi component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic wave propagation in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller scale, stresses in the Earth can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are aligned, the rock will be anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow direction perpendicular to them. In ideal cases, these observations can provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Drug Abuse Prevention Programs Running head: DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION Drug Abuse Prevention Programs: Effectiveness of DARE and Project ALERT Drug Abuse Prevention Programs: Effectiveness of DARE and Project ALERT Although drug use among secondary school students appears to have leveled off during the late 1990s, US adolescents continue to use alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana at unacceptably high rates. Among eighth graders, 52% have tried alcohol, 41% have tried cigarettes, and 20% have tried marijuana. By 12th grade these rates are substantially higher, with large numbers of adolescents engaging in regular drug use (Ellickson, Bell, McGuigan, 1993). In spite of numerous programs implemented in elementary, middle, and high schools to prevent drug, alcohol, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The DARE officer is required to undergo 80 hours of special training in the area of child development, classroom management, teaching techniques, and communication skills, combined with an additional 40 hours to prepare them to teach the high school curriculum (Ennett et al., 1994). This training is required of all DARE Officers prior to facilitating a DARE program. Additionally, this training equips the officer with the knowledge and expertise to answer questions posed by the students, regarding drugs and crime, while in the classroom (Kochis, 2001). Since its initial development and implementation in Los Angeles, DARE has been replicated, expanded, and implemented all over the country. The seemingly overwhelming commitment and support for this program as a drug prevention program for youths is a puzzle. Not only does it come at a time of limited economic resources, but there is little empirical evidence of the success of DARE as a deterrent to drug use (Lynam et al., 1991). Lynam et al. (1991) tracked over 1,000 Midwestern students who participated in Project DARE in the sixth grade. These students were reevaluated at age 20, ten years after receiving the drug prevention education. The study compared pre DARE levels of cigarette, alcohol, marijuana and illicit drug use of the students to such use at age 20. Although the DARE intervention produced a few initial improvements in the students attitudes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Character Count Character Analysis Character Counts Reflection There are six character count in the world, there are two that specifically remind me of myself, caring and respect. • 35. Epistemology Vs. Theory Of Knowledge Epistemology, technically speaking, covers one third of all philosophical enquiry, and it is the branch most concerned with faith. Epistemology, or the theory of knowledge, is always asking questions like, how do you know that, how do you know anything, what is knowledge, what signifies knowledge as fact as opposed to an opinion? How to you get to fact from opinion? I use epistemological questions to level the playing field across all my work. Here are some examples: In Broad Apologetic Theory When entering a new classroom I often get the students to describe their worldview. I do this by giving everyone a blank sheet of paper and asking a series of questions that determine what they know, what they think they know, what their priorities are, and what they truly care about deep down. These questions range from who is the most important person in the world to why are you here and each question is followed by an epistemological question such as how do you know that, why do you think that, or how can you be certain that s true? The result of this exercise is a wide variety of worldviews (or dare I say religions) that hinge on a varying degree of faith. Even those who thought that they had an incredibly naturalistic, empirical or scientific approach to life need to admit a large reliance of faith. In Specific Apologetic Questions When responding to specific questions about God s existence such as, how can you believe in a God when evil exists , or hasn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
