Modern vs. Classical Music
Though the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has a
similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live
symphony during the Classical era, the ability the artists, and those involved with them, have with the
increase of new technology and business schemes has allowed their base of listeners to be on a global
scale for millions, if not yet billions. During the late 17th century to early 19th century, the
phenomenon that is the evolution of Liturgical Music had hit the Classical era; extremely skilled
artists such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert were producing masterpieces for the courts of
the upper class. Because the culture that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music medium has exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, where ideas and thoughts of
composition and sound can be exchanged with ease through radios, computers, concerts and
Vinyl/CD/Tape/MP3, which leads to constantly evolving music, rather than the antiquated notion of
music being a regional cultural experience. In terms of the artist in the modern music scene, the skill
and dedication required is equally demanding if not more so to rise to the top in this competitive
industry, though the reward is far greater in terms of fame, wealth and social status; all of which
Mozart strived for but never was able to attain despite being perhaps one of the greatest musical
talents the world has seen yet. Also with the expansion of audiences, infusions of genres and
capabilities with technology, modern society has seen a trend in corporations fabricating bands,
composing music for artists that fit with the cultural fads and electronically perfecting acoustics, all of
which are ways for these companies to make quick profit. The downfall in this is the loss of
appreciation of music by these corporations and eventually listeners, in terms of the emotion, talent
and sacrifice that it takes away from the real musicians trying to make a name for themselves and their
careers, such as Schubert

Essay On Cheating Infraction
On April 11, 2017, a report was filed through the Honor Code indicating my involvement in a cheating
infraction. I was participating in Charlie Nuttelman s class recitation where we must take five online
quizzes to account for a final grade. The course and quizzes are completely online, excluding the
prompt the teaching assistant gives out prior to the quiz. The prompt includes a series of codes and
questions, in addition to a few rules students must abide by during the exam. These rules include, but
are not limited to, the restriction of cheating, cell phone use, plagiarism, and resubmission.
On the day of my cheating infraction, I was particularly overstressed and anxious. By that time late in
the semester, the pressure of final grades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have truly learned a lot about myself, morality and ethics, and the importance of integrity as a result
of this incident. This was a one time incident that occurred due to laziness and lack of respect I had for
myself, my abilities, and for the class. This will never occur again and I have truly learned my lesson.
Consequently, I have changed my behavior. I now believe in the importance of studying rather than
winging it, honoring myself and my class rather than getting by, and learning the material for the sake
of knowledge rather than to just pass it.
The Honor Code policies at various public universities hold striking similarities, and obvious
differences, to the policies set in place at the University of Colorado Boulder. To commence, the
Honor Code pledge at Colorado State University mirrors CU s pledge almost precisely: I have not
given, received, or used any unauthorized assistance (Colorado State University). However, the ways
in which CSU deals with academic misconduct vary drastically from CU s means of chastising
students. In my experience with the cheating infraction, my TA, Mona Bdewi, did not address or warn
me before going straight to Professor Nuttelman. He, then, reported me directly to the Honor Code
without giving me the chance to explain my side. Neither the TA, nor my Professor, allowed me the
opportunity to explain my side. When I heard of the

Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis
Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct
characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always
changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner,
xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different
viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided
into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different
interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive
School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing interpretations,
leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the Reconstruction as a time
for incredible social and political growth for African Americans, Revisionists strayed from the original
negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no
longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his people, but rather a racist who failed to
react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and Radicals were no longer money hungry
capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to advocacy for African Americans (Foner,
xiii). Although using the Civil Rights Movement as the backbone for the Revisionist era proved itself
effective, there were still a group of individuals, Post Revisionists, who continued to view the changes
during Reconstruction as a bland and inadequate time in American

The Functions Of Language In A Clockwork Orange By Anthony...
The functions of language in the novel A Clockwork Orange and how those functions are achieved in
the film.
The argot in the novella A Clockwork Orange has many functions. Anthony Burgess uses the Nadsat
to alienate the reader, veil the violence and occasionally draw the reader into the action. Although
Burgess uses language to achieve these functions, Stanley Kubrick uses various cinematic techniques
to achieve these functions in the film. This will be further substantiated in the essay.
Anthony Burgess makes use of a fictional register in the novella A Clockwork Orange. In the words of
Dr Branom, Nadsat is described as Odd bits of rhyming slang, a bit of gypsy talk, too. But most of the
roots are Slav. (Burgess, 2011:86). The argot is predominantly based on Russian and ... Show more

Hispanic Music Vs Caribbean Music
The southern wind blew in the shy girls black hair, she sat in the middle of the festival. Thereupon that
day loud music, sweet smells of spicy food and the vibrant colors brought joy to her heart. Wherefore
Caribbean music was rejoicing to lighten every life that was present on this day. The sweet angel
watched the drums smack with forgiving tunes. This girl questioned what the difference was from
Caribbean and Hispanic music. Therefore her mind became sidetracked on the idea of what the
difference of Hispanic and Caribbean music was? Many examples such as the culture and pasts of
these genres of music, according to Hispaniceconomics.com are reasons why these two genres are so

Summary Of Chivalry In The Film Excalibur
How respectful, strong and loyal are knights? People characterize knights as these three elements, but
did they actually possess these traits? Respect, strength, and loyalty are defined by the term chivalry,
in which only the noblest of knights showed. In the film Excalibur it informs watchers the life of the
great King Arthur. Arthur was one of the strongest, most honest, and bravest of all the knights in the
film. His life was a roller coaster, unknowing that the family he grew up with wasn t really his. He
became a squire who trained to become a knight and stumbled across the Excalibur in which was
stuck in a stone implanted by his father. Right as Arthur pulled the sword from the stone he became
the king. Furthermore, the film discusses major events that took place in his life. Excalibur shows
chivalry at the scenes of the round table, knights finding holy grail for king, and the battle against
Mordred.
The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of
chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Arthur built a castle for himself and the kingdom, in which
he placed this table in the center of the castle by itself. Most tables that leaders sit at are rectangular, in
which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the people. However,
Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men. He does this because he respects their opinion and
wants each of the men, including himself, to have an equal amount

Social Norms In American Society
A social norm is defined as the rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in society. Throughout
American history, the rules regarding what is considered acceptable behavior has changed
tremendously. These behaviors haven t changed just once or twice, but many times over the span of
many years. Social norms can change quite often. There is a tremendous amount of behaviors we do in
modern America that would have never been considered acceptable years ago. American society has
changed significantly in consideration to social norms. Social norms that have changed excessively
throughout American history are being affiliated with the LGBT community, dating, relationships, and
premarital sex. So, how have social norms changed in American society? ... Show more content on

There was once a time when premarital sex hardly ever existed, but that is not the case today. The age
of individuals taking part in premarital sex is declining, and people are partaking in sexual acts at
much younger ages. There is a highly unrealistic goal to encourage all Americans to abstain from sex
until they marry (Finer 2). This is a highly unrealistic goal; the amount of people having premarital
sex may lower, but getting all Americans to abstain is a nearly impossible goal. A 2002 survey showed
that seventy five percent of people aged 20 had premarital sex. The same survey portrayed participants
aged 44 and it showed that ninety five percent had sex before marrying. The survey showed that only
around three percent of people abstained until marriage (Finer 3). Premarital sex also differs in the
different sexes. Males were more likely to participate in premarital sex than women. This statistic is
still common today. Premarital sex seemed to play a major role in relationships all the way back to the
1940s, it just depended on what age they did the act. By age 44, almost all people, if not married, had
premarital sex (Finer 4). This is a social norm that seemed to stay relatively constant in American
society throughout history. Not being abstinent is something that individuals have been accustomed to.
It was socially

Theme Of Domestic Violence In Wuthering Heights
In Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë (1847), there are multiple genres, notably Gothic and

book that it makes it impossible to categorise it properly as only one or the other. Emily Rena Dozier
makes the claim that Wuthering Heights...carefully breaks down [the] opposition between gothic and

How Did The Middle Class Affect Latin America
The rise of the middle class had a potent impact on Latin America. The middle class consisted of a
high percentage of the intellectuals, authors, teachers, and journalists and also they had the most
influential voice in the late 19th century (Charlip Burns, 177). One of the most important points about
the middle class was that they were not only the true nationalists in Latin America but also they
regarded the United States as their model, thus they tried to learn something beneficial from the
United Sates for their nation s prosperity and citizens. For example, the middle class was impressed by
the high North American literacy rate and also considered the high literacy rate seemed to provide the
proper preparation for an industrial society

Reasons for financial distress and problems Williams is facing
a) Write off of investment in WCG
During the Tech Bubble, the whole telecom market that WCG was involved in suffered a lot of
problems due mainly to a large oversupply, as indicated by an estimated 2% to 5% of the fiber optic
lines which were only carrying traffic. The revenue of WCG eventually plummeted, wherein prices of
the lines decreased by more than 90% from 1998 and 2002.
In July 2002, the telecommunications sector was experiencing a lot of problems. WCG itself also
began to experience a lot of financial stress, and in hopes of supporting it, Williams converted notes to
shares, providing credit support of $1.4 billion of WCG s debt (which Williams listed as an off
balance sheet item). In the end, Williams took a one time accounting charge of $1.3 billion of
guarantees and payment obligations. The problems with WCG ended up affecting Williams as well,
causing Williams net income after extraordinary items to plummet.

characterize what they see as the NBPP s actively destructive extremism by pointing to examples such
as Muhammad s Million Youth March , a youth equivalent of the Million Man March in Harlem in
which 6000 people protested police brutality but also featured a range of speakers calling for the
extermination of whites in South Africa. The rally ended in scuffles with the NYPD as Muhammad
urged the crowd to attack those officers who had attempted to confiscate the NBPP members guns.
Chairs and bottles were thrown at the police but only a few in the conflict suffered injuries. Perhaps
more significantly was the fact that Al Sharpton appeared and spoke at this event, and was criticized

Article Review Of The Internet Advantage By Mark Kellner
The Internet Transforms Modern Life
Article Review
The article The Internet Advantage by Mark Kellner that was published in HopeChannel in 2004 can
be said to be rather expository than analytical. Kellner initially describes the Internet had helped kill
the magazine he edited, but he then directs the attention to the upsides of the Internet world. The
author s view on it is, The magazine debacle notwithstanding the Internet is as much of a blessing as a
bane to society (Kellner, 2004, p. 3).
We chose this article because we both agreed that it captured our attentions from the start by the way
Kellner expresses his views. What was most amusing was that Kellner was so positive about the
internet even though it was the focal reason that ended his career as a magazine editor. It surely made

Chapter Summary Of Beastly By Alex Flinn
Chapter 7 In this chapter I learned what literary canon was. I learned that it is a master of works that
are usually studied in college. Writers use elements from kiddie stories to shape their stories. Most of
the time this is too complex to put in a text. Foster also talked about how writers we know tend to take
the basic fairytales and kiddie stories and add depth to them. We all know for example The Wizard of
Oz was turned into Wicked. He also talked about how when reading these type of stories, we want the
strangeness and suspicion but at the same time, we also want to be familiar with the characters and
know who they are. We want to be able to relate to the story in some kind of way. Our responses to a

Foster also talked about how fairytales. The bible, mythology and other literary works are apart of one

beast) is a mean guy who always pulled pranks on people. Until one day he got cursed and then turned
into a hideous beast and the only way to break the spell is to have a girl fall inlove with his beastly
form and kiss him as proof of her love and the curse will be reversed. Another example that relates to
this chapter would be the novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Which is about a boy Pip who
is controlled by Mrs. Joe( evil step mother). He then runs into Magwich (fairy godmother) who
motivates Pip to learn and love Estella

Gender Stereotypes In The Piano By Jane Campion
The Piano focuses on the love triangle of Ada, her husband Stewart and her lover Baines. Ada, at the
middle of two dominating male characters, is seemly quiet but her bold and manipulative moves show
a more calculating side to her character. Jane Campion s characterisation of multidimensional
characters that often bend the gender stereotypes but also play directly into them.
When Baines meets Ada, his attraction to her is instant. The audience witnesses a conversation
between Baines and Stewart whereby Baines offers to buy Ada s piano if she will give him lessons. It
is clear that Baines intentions in this request are not honest and that he is interest in making a sexual
advance towards the newly married Ada. This level of calculating manipulation is typically a male
characteristic, and his blatant attempt at receive sex from her shows a male stereotype whereby all
men are driven by their want for sex.
During the first love scene between Ada and Stewart, Ada attempts to get Stewart into an exposed and
compromised position whereby she has power and control over the situation. Stewart ultimately
becomes uncomfortable very quickly, playing into the masculine stereotype that men do not like to be
dominated. However contrastingly, Stewart has a caring side whereby he becomes a fatherly figure to
Ada s daughter.
The next love scene between Ada and Stewart is more violent and shows the gender stereotypes or
expectations coming to the surface. Stewart becomes enraged when

Ignorance In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary
Gustave Flaubert depicts setting and physical elements as literal and metaphorical methods of
confinement in his novel Madame Bovary in order to demonstrate Emma Bovary s inability to escape
the myriad of imprisoning forces within her life. Flaubert illustrates clothing as a restraint placed on
Emma, both physically, and metaphorically through her dissatisfaction with her life. Flaubert delves
into the manner in which satirizing Charles overbearing nature explains Emma s imprisonment by
Charles. Flaubert denies the existence of true romance through confinement within boxes.
Additionally, Flaubert represents Emma s naïveté through literal and metaphorical descriptions of

Flaubert reveals Emma s foolishness through her awe at wide open settings. Emma regards open space
as opportunity, as modeled by her affair with Rodolphe. On a trip to Rodolphe s home, Emma soon
found herself in the middle of the field, walking with rapid steps, without looking behind her (115).
Flaubert expresses both Emma s carelessness in her affair, as well as her naive pursuit of romance
with Rodolphe. Emma fantasizes about wide open settings due to her high, and inaccurate,
expectations of others. Emma anticipates a romance with Rodolphe like no other, and dreams about
some splendid city with domes...and cathedrals of white marble (138). Flaubert represents Emma s

Loss Of Virginity In The Bloody Chamber
Transformation and Loss of Virginity In The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter,
Carter uses a theme of transformation and loss of virginity in the stories The Tiger s Bride and The
Company of Wolves . In both of these stories the heroine begins as a virgin human who through the
corruption of a beast becomes an animal. She uses this theme in both stories to make a connection
between the loss of virginity and a metamorphosis that leads to loss of humanity. In The Tiger s Bride
and The Company of Wolves both heroines give themselves up to the beasts as a sort of offering. In
the The Tiger s Bride , this offering occurs by the heroine going to The Beast and allowing him to lick

The SUmmer of a Jupiter Symphony Essay
The Summer of a Jupiter Symphony The year is 1788 as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart began to work on
his last three symphonies during a time of strife for musicians as the Austro Turkish War continues to
war on in Austria. Tired from moving his family from central Vienna to the suburbs of Alsergrund all
while in debt to his ears as he continued to borrow money from friends including a fellow mason,
Michael Puchberg, Mozart finished his final symphony on August 10, 1788. This piece, nicknamed the
Jupiter Symphony, coined by impresario Johann Peter Saloman, was Mozart s longest symphony with
a total of four movements, a typical symphonic form during the Classical era. The Jupiter Symphony
totals to about forty five minutes of music ending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mozart was known for having an ear that would make any musician envious. From a young age he
was able to listen to any piece of music and his mind would interpret all of that data with ease. While
in Rome, he listened to a performance of Gregorio Allegri s Miserere only twice at the Sistine Chapel
and was able to write it down for memory when he got home (Abert 135). After Mozart and his father
returned to Italy from a ten year tour, Mozart was employed by Prince Archbishop Hieronymus
Collero to be a court musician in the year 1773. With a pay check of only 150 florins a year though,
Mozart began to look for other job ventures and began to try to write operas that he hoped would help
kick start his career as a professional musician. It was not until 1782 when Mozart began to receive
the credit that he deserved. Performing on multiple local keyboard competitions, he was soon
established as one of the best keyboard players in Vienna. Finally in 1783, as he finished writing the
opera Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, he began to be seen as a successful independent composer and
started to receive a reputation as such (Abert 642). As Mozart got older, he matured even more as a
composer writing a total of over six hundred pieces including symphonies, operas, concertos, and
other styles of pieces during his life

My Search For Going To College
What do you mean I cannot live with my parents for the rest of my life? So you mean to tell me that I
actually have to become an adult? . These have been the thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four
years and now that my time is up, I get to do something about them. My main problem with going to
college is being away from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the
wrong college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right college is a
universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found Baylor University I knew it
was my new home.
My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During that time in my life, I
felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful in life. Since picking the right college is a
big part of being successful, I was feeling overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United
States and I had to narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was
feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was looking for in a
college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major (Astrophysics), be far away from
home (but not too far), and to live in a big city.
Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from: University of Texas at
Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my contact information to each of them and in
time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor University.
When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of attending the
Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that attends the seminar.
Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the feeling that was
where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my newly found friends on the way to
our The Atomic Theory 101 class. Although I have a tendency of letting my head float in the sky, I had
to snap myself out of my dreamland and back into reality to remember that I still had two other
options for my perfect college. Not wanting to make my decision after only seeing one school I
scheduled campus tours with The

The Revelation Of The Lord Jesus Christ
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1 KJV).
This familiar passage of scripture recorded in the Gospel of John indicates the deity and or
preexistence of Jesus Christ prior to time as we know it and before the creation of earth. The strongest
proof that the Lord Jesus Christ is God are the divine attributes, divine names, divine works, divine
worship, divine claims and divine relationship ascribed to Him. Jesus himself also made claims which
could only have been made by God. He said He was one with God in John 10:30 and that I and my
Father are one. In verse 38 of the same chapter it states ...believe that the Father is in me, and I in
Him. He claimed to love as God the Father Loves in Matthew 10:37, 38. These periscopes declare for
us a oneness, interconnectedness and mutual divine status within these texts. For Jesus to accept such
claims, worship, names and works as ascribed or attributed to Him, if He were not God, would be
blasphemy. For a saint to have such claims or have accepted such homage to this degree would have
been a sin worthy of death.
Jesus ministry was to save mankind from their sins, to destroy the works of the devil and to fulfill the
Old Testament. Luke 19:10 tells us that the Son of man has come to seek and save that which was lost.

Essay On Assembly Line Medicine
The assembly line was introduced during the industrial revolution: transforming manufacturing and
allowing technology to flourish. Although this procedure is useful when dealing with machines, it can
be detrimental in more human centered careers namingly medicine, in which the most effective
treatments are those which are tailored to the individual. However, assembly line medicine has been
increasingly implemented into the medical field today. Rather than tailored treatments, a one size fits
all approach is being forced on unwilling doctors. Now, the practice of medicine is much like a broken
machine. Assembly line medicine, the idea that medicine is becoming more procedure based and

The Reasons Why Individuals Travel Should Be Investigate...
Tourism Essay
Introduction
Understanding Leipers model aides in characterizing on the reasons of why individuals head out to the
destinations. The model was made in 1994, as it intends to attempt and comprehend destinations,
producing zones, travel zones, nature streams inside the connection of a more extensive tourism
framework rather then seeing them as partitioned free elements . This implies that with a specific end
goal to comprehend the reasons of why individuals travel we should firstly investigate the push and
pull factors of tourists.
Leipers Model embodies itself of three different micro parts, and sub segments or sub components.
These parts incorporate:
Geographic Element:
Tourist Generating Region,

Interpreting The Results And Remediation
Interpreting the results and remediation. After the vulnerability assessment has taken place it is time to
interpret the results of the scan. This is where the organization finds out what the vulnerabilities of
their network are. The vulnerabilities that were found in the process of the assessment must be
categorized, most vulnerability scanners will produce reports that will list and categorize the threats
that were found, this is also called threat modeling which we will get into in the next section. Once
these results are analyzed the next step is to start remediating the vulnerabilities. Just like any other
updates, the remediation of vulnerabilities should be scheduled, change management is a very
important part of an organizations IT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the scans are complete and the current vulnerabilities are patched it is a good idea to implement
a regular scanning schedule, once per month is an acceptable frequency to scan the network for new
vulnerabilities. Vulnerability assessment is a continuous cycle due do new vulnerabilities being
discovered every day, organizations must stay on top of their game if they want their organization to
remain secure. Figure 1 illustrates the continuous cycle of vulnerability assessment.
Modeling and Determining Threats Threat modeling is a way to categorize threats using a structured
approach to address the threats with the most potential to do damage to a network. An example of a
threat model that is commonly used to rate threats is DREAD, this acronym stands for Damage,
Reproducibility, Exploitability, Affected users, and Discoverability. Each of these categories is
assessed a value from 0 10 with 0 being nothing and the being the most serious risk. (OWASP, n.d.)
An approach such as this will assist an organization in determining the importance and priority of
threats on their network. Another commonly used threat model is STRIDE, as seen in Table 2. The
following sections will walk through the entire process of threat modeling.
Identifying Assets To model threats, the organization will need to identify their assets. The assets will
typically be critical

The Systems Development Life Cycle Essay
The systems development life cycle (SDLC), also referred to as the application development life
cycle, is a term used in systems engineering, information systems and software engineering to
describe a process for planning, creating, testing, and deploying an information system. The systems
development life cycle concept applies to a range of hardware and software configurations, as a
system can be composed of hardware only, software only, or a combination of both. PHASES: o 1
System investigation o 2 System analysis o 3 Design o 4 Environments o 5 Testing o 6 Training and
transition o 7 Operations and maintenance o 8 Evaluation The system development life cycle
framework provides a sequence of activities for system designers and developers to follow. It consists
of a set of steps or phases in which each phase of the SDLC uses the results of the previous one. The
SDLC adheres to important phases that are essential for developers, such as planning, analysis, design,
and implementation, and are explained in the section below. It includes evaluation of present system,
information gathering, feasibility and request approval. A number of SDLC models have been created:
waterfall, fountain, spiral build and fix, rapid prototyping, incremental, and synchronize and stabilize.
The oldest of these, and the best known, is the waterfall model: a sequence of stages in which the
output of each stage becomes the input for the next. These stages can be characterized and divided up

Death of a Manicurist When the time comes for a woman, or even a male, to get their nails done, it is
not typical to think about the impact on the workers. The lives of the technicians are deeply impacted

Maslin Nir s article Perfect Nails, Poisoned Workers from the New York Times, an article from
Scientific American by Dine Fine Maron, and The United States Department of Labor gives many
reasons why nail salons need to start protecting their staff. Workers suffer through painful losses and

According to the definition, a relevant product market includes all those products which are regarded
as interchangeable or substitutable by the consumer by reason of the products characteristics, their
prices and their intended use . We can presume that the relevant market for film includes all of the five
firms: Kodak, Fuji, Konica, Agfa and 3M. However, not all of these firms products are viewed as fully
interchangeable and substitutable by the consumer as stated in the definition. According to statistics,
about 50% of consumers will only buy Kodak film despite of substantial price increases. This
phenomenon indicates the consumers adamant belief in the superior quality of Kodak film. There were
two different viewpoints on the relevant geographic product market for film discussed in the case.
According to the district court, the relevant geographic market for film is worldwide, since foreign
manufactures sell considerable amounts of film in the United States and Kodak s market share is only
36% globally. However, the government argues that this determination is wrong and that the relevant
geographic market in this case should be limited to the United States. The main explanation here is
that a relevant geographic market comprises an area where the firm can exercise the market power.

Risk Quantification
7. How did NASA decide what is or is not an acceptable risk?
NASA identified and evaluated hazards through a formalized hazard reduction process as described in
the NASA Handbook, NHB5300.4. The process required that hazards be determined for probability
and credibility. In order to ensure that the standards within NHB5300.4 were adhered to, a Senior
Safety Review Board was established for overseeing the risk assessment process. The process allowed
for a certain amount of risk to be allowed as long as it was acceptable. To determine whether or not a

assessing the erosion and blow by incidents, they likely would have come to a different conclusion

All risks should be elevated to whatever level of responsibility are related to the task or component the
risk is assigned to. For example, lower level risks should be assigned to lower level management and
the critical risks, as described in exhibit V, should be the responsibility of the program manager and
the NASA administrator. It s also important to note that for the risks involved in space travel, the

THE EVOLUTION OF ADVERTISING
Advertisements are a huge part of our everyday lives. We see different types of ads everywhere we
look; while watching television, listening to the radio, riding on the bus and even walking around your

Advertising techniques have changed and along with it, the impact they have on each individual s
mind. While there are some similarities between the different kinds of advertisements we see today,
there are also many differences. Advertising has also become more unethical than it was in, let s say,

There have been many advertising techniques over the past 50 years or so, but one of these changes is

Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction
Theory:
Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties namely: voltage,
current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as: V=IR. By understanding the
importance of conduction, one is able to determine the total resistance and visualize how resistors are
connected in parallel circuits. In parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current
[I] so that the total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in parallel.
In contrast, the resistance in series circuits increases when more resistors are introduced into the
circuit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Figure 1). Figure 1: Circuit diagram
A digital multimeter was used to measure voltage by connecting it in parallel and series with the
components.
Analysis
Resistors connected in series are observed to share one current path. A breadboard effectively builds a
testing electrical and electronic system model. It also holds electrical components together
conveniently for practical applications.
Part 2: Measuring Resistors in Series A multimeter was connected across individual resistors and
resistance measurements were recorded. The multimeter was then connected across all the resistors
whereby measurements recorded. The values are tabulated in Table 1:

Data Analysis in the Cloud
V. DATAANALYSIS IN THE CLOUD
In this section we descus the expected properties of a system designed for performing data analysis at
the cloud environment and how parallel database systems and MapReduce based systems achieve
these properties.
Expected properties of a system designed for performing data analysis at cloud:
Performance
Performance is the primary characteristic of database systems that can use to select best solution for
the system.High performance relate with quality, amount and depth of analysis. High performance
helps to reduce cost.Upgrading to a quicker software package will permit an organization avoid
adding further nodes to application continues to scale.
Fault Tolerance.
In transactional workloads fault tolerant means that DBMS can recover from a failure without losing
any data. In the distributed databases fault tolerances means that successfully commit transactions and
make progress even in the worker node failures. For read only queries in analytical workloads, query
doesn t have to be restarted if a case of one node s query fails. In cloud there is a high failure rate. It
can happen in single node failure during long query processing. Ability to run in a heterogeneous
environment
Due to hardware failures in the system nodes in cloud not act as homogeneous. When the work is
equally divided among all nodes, time takes to complete the task should be equal to time that needed
slowest node needed to complete its portion of work. Because its

The Pitfalls Of Creative Destruction
Pitfalls of Creative Destruction
Strong standing businesses have a definite answer to the five fundamental questions introduced in
chapter two: what will be produced, how it will be made, who will get the goods, how to
accommodate to change, and how to promote progress. However, outdated businesses start to
collapse, suffer losses, and even close down when rival firms introduce cutting edge innovations. This
is the result of creative destruction: new products and production methods replace or rather destroy
obsolete goods (McConnell et al 37). Creative destruction benefits the consumers because the new
products make their lives easier and economic evidence shows that old firms should learn the newest
technologies. On a microeconomic basis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From then on, Netflix seemed to be increasing while Blockbuster continued to decrease because
Netflix was stealing Blockbuster s consumer market. Figure 2 displays Netflix s and Blockbuster s
revenue, where initially Blockbuster s revenue was way greater than Netflix s revenue. While Netflix
made a steady rate of income, Blockbuster had steady losses and eventually a great drop in income,
which lead to bankruptcy. Economically speaking, Blockbuster had to shut down because its marginal
revenue was lower than its average total costs. Every time the business sold their product, it made
losses because the revenue never covered its cost of operating and production costs. Among the five
fundamental questions discussed in chapter two, how a product will be produced is vital. Firms want
to minimize the cost of making an output. Thus, Blockbuster used efficient ways to produce its movies
and games by outsourcing and reduced staffing (WordPress). However, a major expense for
Blockbuster was rent for the location of its stores and wages for its employees, which Netflix did not
have to worry about because it was an online service. Therefore,

What is Feminism?
Before jumping headfirst right away into What is Feminism , the topic of terminology will come first
due to the importance terminologies can play when conveying a message. Feminism isn t the only
term used to describe this yen for equality that will be spoken of; in fact, there are many reprehensible,
repugnant, distasteful terms being substituted, fortunately, there are also still many guarding ones.
Those considered reprehensible: misandry movement and feminazi movement. Those considered
guarding: womanism, women s liberation, and sisterhood movement. Of course, the list goes on,

Miscarriage Of Justice InTwelve Angry Men And Montana 1948
Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose and Montana 1948 , written by Larry Watson, displays
many similarities in miscarriage of justice as characters are not necessarily being fair and reasonable.
Characters are also prejudice as they have a preconceived notion not based on reason or actual
experience and thus, act harshly towards a minority. In the first novel, Twelve Angry Men, juror three
bases his opinion of the alleged criminal on his son and not as an individual. In Montana 1948,
Wesley, David s father bases his opinion on his brother s molestation and nearly allows for his brother
to go unpunished. However, the differ as prejudice holds Wesley back from taking action towards his
brother, but he cannot ignore the injustice whereas prejudice motivates juror three to act quickly and
stereotype the alleged as guilty as he cannot sustain his hate.
In Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose, juror three sees his son as the alleged and cannot
wait to punish him, however, the prejudice he has against the alleged criminal urges juror three to take
action as quickly as possible and votes a persistent guilty verdict. Throughout the play, juror three is
seen as an old, bitter man who makes his decisions based on his son and not his own conscience.
When he is a part of the jury, he has the chance to be fair and reasonable, which he passes up the
opportunity. He [feels] that knife going in when he talks about his son and how he finds a similarity in

By selecting a complementary base coat, you can easily select a suitable glitter topping, which not
only highlights your base coating, but also the color of your dress. You are at liberty to select a color
of your choice that conveys your personality and style.
Nails with half moon
In this case, the base of the nail forms a half moon, while the rest over it includes designs in
harmonious colors. The choice of colors is what matters the most here. For maximum effect, these
should complement each other. You may choose to have a combination of silver with shades of blue,
or contrast golden color with red, but make sure that the half moon remains bare.
Floral Nails

apply decals with floral designs, or simply include daisies or another similar flowers over a base coat
by simply using streaks and dots. You can be sure of grabbing the much desired

Reflective Essay On A Council Meeting
On Monday, November 20th 2017, I attended the City of Atlanta s council meeting while visiting my
friend for the holidays. I have had no experience with any kind of government event outside of student
government, so I personally had no idea what to expect. Driving around in Atlanta was confusing
enough, but we were kindly shown where to go to sit in on the meeting.
The meeting took a while to begin, but it began with role being taken of the council members. The
room itself was large, with a wall of desks in front of the main seating area. After role had been called
the meeting was opened by discussing the recent celebration of Veteran s Day, and the council felt the
need to thank all the active veterans in the community. This was very important to the council and
they said a few words about veterans who had passed that had very positive roles in the community.
The Council then brought up the murder of a 29 year old women over the previous weekend. Prayers
were extended to her family and loved ones out of respect. It was stated that the city is doing
everything that they possibly can to bring justice to the family and apprehend the killer. The third
person to be recognized was a major supporter of the Atlanta community, who was a dear friend to
many of the council members. We then observed a moment of silence for all those previously
mentioned.
At this point in the meeting nothing was very surprising to me, it was just like any other meeting I
have attended. I was used to

  • 2. Modern vs. Classical Music Though the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has a similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live symphony during the Classical era, the ability the artists, and those involved with them, have with the increase of new technology and business schemes has allowed their base of listeners to be on a global scale for millions, if not yet billions. During the late 17th century to early 19th century, the phenomenon that is the evolution of Liturgical Music had hit the Classical era; extremely skilled artists such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert were producing masterpieces for the courts of the upper class. Because the culture that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The music medium has exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, where ideas and thoughts of composition and sound can be exchanged with ease through radios, computers, concerts and Vinyl/CD/Tape/MP3, which leads to constantly evolving music, rather than the antiquated notion of music being a regional cultural experience. In terms of the artist in the modern music scene, the skill and dedication required is equally demanding if not more so to rise to the top in this competitive industry, though the reward is far greater in terms of fame, wealth and social status; all of which Mozart strived for but never was able to attain despite being perhaps one of the greatest musical talents the world has seen yet. Also with the expansion of audiences, infusions of genres and capabilities with technology, modern society has seen a trend in corporations fabricating bands, composing music for artists that fit with the cultural fads and electronically perfecting acoustics, all of which are ways for these companies to make quick profit. The downfall in this is the loss of appreciation of music by these corporations and eventually listeners, in terms of the emotion, talent and sacrifice that it takes away from the real musicians trying to make a name for themselves and their careers, such as Schubert ... • 3. Essay On Cheating Infraction On April 11, 2017, a report was filed through the Honor Code indicating my involvement in a cheating infraction. I was participating in Charlie Nuttelman s class recitation where we must take five online quizzes to account for a final grade. The course and quizzes are completely online, excluding the prompt the teaching assistant gives out prior to the quiz. The prompt includes a series of codes and questions, in addition to a few rules students must abide by during the exam. These rules include, but are not limited to, the restriction of cheating, cell phone use, plagiarism, and resubmission. On the day of my cheating infraction, I was particularly overstressed and anxious. By that time late in the semester, the pressure of final grades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have truly learned a lot about myself, morality and ethics, and the importance of integrity as a result of this incident. This was a one time incident that occurred due to laziness and lack of respect I had for myself, my abilities, and for the class. This will never occur again and I have truly learned my lesson. Consequently, I have changed my behavior. I now believe in the importance of studying rather than winging it, honoring myself and my class rather than getting by, and learning the material for the sake of knowledge rather than to just pass it. The Honor Code policies at various public universities hold striking similarities, and obvious differences, to the policies set in place at the University of Colorado Boulder. To commence, the Honor Code pledge at Colorado State University mirrors CU s pledge almost precisely: I have not given, received, or used any unauthorized assistance (Colorado State University). However, the ways in which CSU deals with academic misconduct vary drastically from CU s means of chastising students. In my experience with the cheating infraction, my TA, Mona Bdewi, did not address or warn me before going straight to Professor Nuttelman. He, then, reported me directly to the Honor Code without giving me the chance to explain my side. Neither the TA, nor my Professor, allowed me the opportunity to explain my side. • 4. Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner, xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing interpretations, leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the Reconstruction as a time for incredible social and political growth for African Americans, Revisionists strayed from the original negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his people, but rather a racist who failed to react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and Radicals were no longer money hungry capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to advocacy for African Americans (Foner, xiii). The argot in the novella A Clockwork Orange has many functions. Anthony Burgess uses the Nadsat to alienate the reader, veil the violence and occasionally draw the reader into the action. Although Burgess uses language to achieve these functions, Stanley Kubrick uses various cinematic techniques to achieve these functions in the film. This will be further substantiated in the essay. • 7. Summary Of Chivalry In The Film Excalibur How respectful, strong and loyal are knights? People characterize knights as these three elements, but did they actually possess these traits? Respect, strength, and loyalty are defined by the term chivalry, in which only the noblest of knights showed. In the film Excalibur it informs watchers the life of the great King Arthur. Arthur was one of the strongest, most honest, and bravest of all the knights in the film. His life was a roller coaster, unknowing that the family he grew up with wasn t really his. He became a squire who trained to become a knight and stumbled across the Excalibur in which was stuck in a stone implanted by his father. Right as Arthur pulled the sword from the stone he became the king. Furthermore, the film discusses major events that took place in his life. Excalibur shows chivalry at the scenes of the round table, knights finding holy grail for king, and the battle against Mordred. The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Arthur built a castle for himself and the kingdom, in which he placed this table in the center of the castle by itself. Most tables that leaders sit at are rectangular, in which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the people. However, Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men. There is a tremendous amount of behaviors we do in modern America that would have never been considered acceptable years ago. American society has changed significantly in consideration to social norms. Social norms that have changed excessively throughout American history are being affiliated with the LGBT community, dating, relationships, and premarital sex. So, how have social norms changed in American society? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was once a time when premarital sex hardly ever existed, but that is not the case today. The age of individuals taking part in premarital sex is declining, and people are partaking in sexual acts at much younger ages. There is a highly unrealistic goal to encourage all Americans to abstain from sex until they marry (Finer 2). This is a highly unrealistic goal; the amount of people having premarital sex may lower, but getting all Americans to abstain is a nearly impossible goal. A 2002 survey showed that seventy five percent of people aged 20 had premarital sex. The same survey portrayed participants aged 44 and it showed that ninety five percent had sex before marrying. The survey showed that only around three percent of people abstained until marriage (Finer 3). Premarital sex also differs in the different sexes. Males were more likely to participate in premarital sex than women. This statistic is still common today. Premarital sex seemed to play a major role in relationships all the way back to the 1940s, it just depended on what age they did the act. By age 44, almost all people, if not married, had premarital sex (Finer 4). This is a social norm that seemed to stay relatively constant in American society throughout history. Not being abstinent is something that individuals have been accustomed to. It was socially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Writers use elements from kiddie stories to shape their stories. Most of the time this is too complex to put in a text. Foster also talked about how writers we know tend to take the basic fairytales and kiddie stories and add depth to them. We all know for example The Wizard of Oz was turned into Wicked. He also talked about how when reading these type of stories, we want the strangeness and suspicion but at the same time, we also want to be familiar with the characters and know who they are. • 19. Gender Stereotypes In The Piano By Jane Campion The Piano focuses on the love triangle of Ada, her husband Stewart and her lover Baines. The SUmmer of a Jupiter Symphony Essay The Summer of a Jupiter Symphony The year is 1788 as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart began to work on his last three symphonies during a time of strife for musicians as the Austro Turkish War continues to war on in Austria. Tired from moving his family from central Vienna to the suburbs of Alsergrund all while in debt to his ears as he continued to borrow money from friends including a fellow mason, Michael Puchberg, Mozart finished his final symphony on August 10, 1788. These have been the thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four years and now that my time is up, I get to do something about them. My main problem with going to college is being away from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the wrong college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right college is a universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found Baylor University I knew it was my new home. My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During that time in my life, I felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful in life. Since picking the right college is a big part of being successful, I was feeling overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United States and I had to narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was looking for in a college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major (Astrophysics), be far away from home (but not too far), and to live in a big city. Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from: University of Texas at Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my contact information to each of them and in time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor University. When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of attending the Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that attends the seminar. Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the feeling that was where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my newly found friends on the way to our The Atomic Theory 101 class. This familiar passage of scripture recorded in the Gospel of John indicates the deity and or preexistence of Jesus Christ prior to time as we know it and before the creation of earth. The strongest proof that the Lord Jesus Christ is God are the divine attributes, divine names, divine works, divine worship, divine claims and divine relationship ascribed to Him. Jesus himself also made claims which could only have been made by God. He said He was one with God in John 10:30 and that I and my Father are one. In verse 38 of the same chapter it states ...believe that the Father is in me, and I in Him. He claimed to love as God the Father Loves in Matthew 10:37, 38. These periscopes declare for us a oneness, interconnectedness and mutual divine status within these texts. For Jesus to accept such claims, worship, names and works as ascribed or attributed to Him, if He were not God, would be blasphemy. For a saint to have such claims or have accepted such homage to this degree would have been a sin worthy of death. Jesus ministry was to save mankind from their sins, to destroy the works of the devil and to fulfill the Old Testament. Ohm s Law Series Circuits Name Institution Course Instructor 10 February 2017 Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction Theory: Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties namely: voltage, current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as: V=IR. By understanding the importance of conduction, one is able to determine the total resistance and visualize how resistors are connected in parallel circuits. In parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current [I] so that the total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in parallel. In contrast, the resistance in series circuits increases when more resistors are introduced into the circuit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In effect, the resistor was aligned horizontally with the first end. A black wire extension (from the negative polarity of the power supply) was connected vertically from one end of the last resistor plugged into the first set of holes just below the blue line albeit aligned differently from the red wire (Figure 1). Figure 1: Circuit diagram A digital multimeter was used to measure voltage by connecting it in parallel and series with the components. Analysis Resistors connected in series are observed to share one current path. A breadboard effectively builds a testing electrical and electronic system model. It also holds electrical components together conveniently for practical applications. Part 2: Measuring Resistors in Series A multimeter was connected across individual resistors and resistance measurements were recorded. The multimeter was then connected across all the resistors whereby measurements recorded. The values are tabulated in Table 1: Table 1: Resistance values Resistor Color Code Measured Value Ex. • 42. Data Analysis in the Cloud V. DATAANALYSIS IN THE CLOUD In this section we descus the expected properties of a system designed for performing data analysis at the cloud environment and how parallel database systems and MapReduce based systems achieve these properties. Expected properties of a system designed for performing data analysis at cloud: Performance Performance is the primary characteristic of database systems that can use to select best solution for the system.High performance relate with quality, amount and depth of analysis. High performance helps to reduce cost.Upgrading to a quicker software package will permit an organization avoid adding further nodes to application continues to scale. Fault Tolerance. In transactional workloads fault tolerant means that DBMS can recover from a failure without losing any data. In the distributed databases fault tolerances means that successfully commit transactions and make progress even in the worker node failures. For read only queries in analytical workloads, query doesn t have to be restarted if a case of one node s query fails. In cloud there is a high failure rate. It can happen in single node failure during long query processing. Ability to run in a heterogeneous environment Due to hardware failures in the system nodes in cloud not act as homogeneous. When the work is equally divided among all nodes, time takes to complete the task should be equal to time that needed slowest node needed to complete its portion of work. Because its ... The Pitfalls Of Creative Destruction Pitfalls of Creative Destruction Strong standing businesses have a definite answer to the five fundamental questions introduced in chapter two: what will be produced, how it will be made, who will get the goods, how to accommodate to change, and how to promote progress. However, outdated businesses start to collapse, suffer losses, and even close down when rival firms introduce cutting edge innovations. This is the result of creative destruction: new products and production methods replace or rather destroy obsolete goods (McConnell et al 37). Creative destruction benefits the consumers because the new products make their lives easier and economic evidence shows that old firms should learn the newest technologies. On a microeconomic basis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From then on, Netflix seemed to be increasing while Blockbuster continued to decrease because Netflix was stealing Blockbuster s consumer market. Figure 2 displays Netflix s and Blockbuster s revenue, where initially Blockbuster s revenue was way greater than Netflix s revenue. While Netflix made a steady rate of income, Blockbuster had steady losses and eventually a great drop in income, which lead to bankruptcy. Economically speaking, Blockbuster had to shut down because its marginal revenue was lower than its average total costs. Every time the business sold their product, it made losses because the revenue never covered its cost of operating and production costs. Among the five fundamental questions discussed in chapter two, how a product will be produced is vital. Firms want to minimize the cost of making an output. Thus, Blockbuster used efficient ways to produce its movies and games by outsourcing and reduced staffing (WordPress). However, a major expense for Blockbuster was rent for the location of its stores and wages for its employees, which Netflix did not have to worry about because it was an online service. Before jumping headfirst right away into What is Feminism , the topic of terminology will come first due to the importance terminologies can play when conveying a message. Feminism isn t the only term used to describe this yen for equality that will be spoken of; in fact, there are many reprehensible, repugnant, distasteful terms being substituted, fortunately, there are also still many guarding ones. Those considered reprehensible: misandry movement and feminazi movement. Those considered guarding: womanism, women s liberation, and sisterhood movement. Of course, the list goes on, ... Miscarriage Of Justice InTwelve Angry Men And Montana 1948 Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose and Montana 1948 , written by Larry Watson, displays many similarities in miscarriage of justice as characters are not necessarily being fair and reasonable. Characters are also prejudice as they have a preconceived notion not based on reason or actual experience and thus, act harshly towards a minority. In the first novel, Twelve Angry Men, juror three bases his opinion of the alleged criminal on his son and not as an individual. In Montana 1948, Wesley, David s father bases his opinion on his brother s molestation and nearly allows for his brother to go unpunished. However, the differ as prejudice holds Wesley back from taking action towards his brother, but he cannot ignore the injustice whereas prejudice motivates juror three to act quickly and stereotype the alleged as guilty as he cannot sustain his hate. In Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose, juror three sees his son as the alleged and cannot wait to punish him, however, the prejudice he has against the alleged criminal urges juror three to take action as quickly as possible and votes a persistent guilty verdict. Throughout the play, juror three is seen as an old, bitter man who makes his decisions based on his son and not his own conscience. When he is a part of the jury, he has the chance to be fair and reasonable, which he passes up the opportunity. • 47. Reflective Essay On A Council Meeting On Monday, November 20th 2017, I attended the City of Atlanta s council meeting while visiting my friend for the holidays. I have had no experience with any kind of government event outside of student government, so I personally had no idea what to expect. Driving around in Atlanta was confusing enough, but we were kindly shown where to go to sit in on the meeting. The meeting took a while to begin, but it began with role being taken of the council members. The room itself was large, with a wall of desks in front of the main seating area. After role had been called the meeting was opened by discussing the recent celebration of Veteran s Day, and the council felt the need to thank all the active veterans in the community. This was very important to the council and they said a few words about veterans who had passed that had very positive roles in the community. The Council then brought up the murder of a 29 year old women over the previous weekend. Prayers were extended to her family and loved ones out of respect. It was stated that the city is doing everything that they possibly can to bring justice to the family and apprehend the killer. The third person to be recognized was a major supporter of the Atlanta community, who was a dear friend to many of the council members. We then observed a moment of silence for all those previously mentioned. At this point in the meeting nothing was very surprising to me, it was just like any other meeting I have attended.
