The Parting And Love s Last Lesson Comparison
Paying particular attention to the ambiguous representation of love/death, compare and contrast
Michael Drayton s The Parting (c. 1593), Lord Byron s When We Two Parted (1815) and Letitia
Elizabeth Landon s Love s Last Lesson (c.1838) in relation to poetic features, function and effect.
Paying attention to the ambiguous representation of love and death, this essay will compare and
contrast Michael Drayton s The Parting (c. 1593), Lord Byron s When We Two Parted (1815), and
Letitia Elizabeth Landon s Love s Last Lesson (c. 1838) in relation to poetic features, function, and
effect. Tom Furniss and Michael Bath state in Reading Poetry: An Introduction, literary criticism in
the Twentieth Century has come to regard ambiguity in poetry as one of its most characteristic and
valuable features (Furniss Bath, 1996: 207). The literal definition of ambiguous is having more
than one meaning, open to more than one interpretation (Concise Oxford English Dictionary,
Oxford University Press, 2011, p40). Ambiguity in poetry is viewed as an important and an
effective feature by literary critics and poets everywhere, with William Empson stating: The
machinations of ambiguity are among the very roots of poetry (Empson, William, Seven Types of
Ambiguity, 1930).
An elegy is a poem that laments the death, and love poetry can be about a romantic relationship
whether it is ongoing or has ended. In relation to heartbreak, emotions or strategies used to convey
these emotions can

The Role Of Quentin Tarantino In Pulp Fiction
Today in an era of action movies with tons of CGI explosions and simple cheesy dialogue, there
are very few directors who have their own signature style of filmmaking. Quentin Tarantino is one
of the world s most known directors. Each of his films is highly anticipated, as he draws upon the
subjects and themes of previous films to produce a fresh storyline (Quentin Tarantino: The
Cinematic Mastermind of the Mix and Match Genre Theculturetrip.com). His films are in my
opinion, some of the best made in the past 20 years. Many say his movies are so one of a kind that
you can argue that Tarantino has his own sub genre.
One reason why Quentin Tarantino is so respected and considered to be one of a kind is because
he is one of the few most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of his films are related to each other, set in the same universe. Fun fact: Mr. Blonde AKA Vic
Vega, the cold blooded murdering criminal from Reservoir Dogs is the brother of Marcellus
Wallace s business associate Vincent Vega from pulp fiction. Another Tarantino Easter egg is in
Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega Takes Mia Wallace, played by Uma Thurman, out to dinner she
describes the plot of a pilot she starred in. The character she played was described as the deadliest
woman in the world with a knife; this is also the character summary of the Bride in Kill Bill who
is also played by Thurman. I also shouldn t forget to mention that Lee Donowitz from True
Romance, a film written by Tarantino, is the son of Donnie Donowitz, the Jewish American
soldier known as The Bear Jew and is highly feared by German soldiers. I will also mention that
The Hateful 8 was originally supposed to be a Post Civil War sequel to Django Unchained, but that
never happened. There are no coincidences in Tarantino s movies. Few directors have such an
obsession with hiding homages to other films, plot clues, and Easter eggs into their movies. In an
interview with The Project, Tarantino stated There s the realer than real universe, alright, and all
the characters inhabit that one. But then there s this movie universe. And so From Dusk Till Dawn,
Kill Bill, they all take

locations Paradise 24, Palace 20, and Boynton Beach 14. The Maryland Egyptian Theater was
often one of the highest grossing movie theaters in the nation. Cinemark strengthened their
presence in Florida in result of the Muvico theaters purchase. In 2012 Cinemark acquired Rave
Cinemas for $240 million, this arrangement included 32 theaters from over 12 states which
accumulated to represent about 483 screens. However, Cinemark had to sell four of its newly

Food is a vital component of a theater s profit making. Most profits come from the high markup
on popcorn and soda. Movie theaters are really in the snack business. In the bloom of the cinema,
popcorn really wasn t a must have item when going to the movies as it wasn t sold during the silent
film era. However when the Great Depression hit, theaters began to sell popcorn and gained huge
profits that kept them alive through the hard economy. Knowing that there are movie theaters
that offer gourmet food and liquor, people will be willing to watch the movie while enjoying
their food. A recent fad in the industry is serving the guests as they are waiting for their movie
to begin. Consumers can order during previews, and enjoy their food as the movie begins. The
audience also pays twice sometimes triple the price of a product just to experience the food at the
theater, because it taste different . People do not notice a small tax rate of an additional 5 10 cents,
yet realize the prices have gone up 12 20 cents but still continue to purchase

Teotihuacan Artistic Influence
Teotihuacan: Sphere of Artistic Influence
In the Basin of Mexico about 7,000 ft above sea level lies the ruins of the ancient city of
Teotihuacan, the place of the gods, which flourished from 100 650 A.D. Little is known about this
city s mysterious demise of power, besides evidence of what appears to be ritualized burnings at
major temples and centers. The impact of Teotihuacan throughout Mesoamericais evident, and the
most obvious indicator of this influence is through artistic style. Just how far was the expansion of
Teotihuacan s artistic influence across Mesoamerica? I will use a variety of sources not only to
define the Teotihuacano art style as a whole, but also to map the path of its successful impact, (and
also resistance,) across subsequent Mesoamerican civilizations, focusing principally on the Maya.
The architectural style known as talud tablero marks the presence of Teotihuacan abroad more
distinctly than any other aspects of its art. The sloping talud (talus) supports the vertical tablero
(entablature), which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 450 AD, versatile mold made ceramics were beginning to be mass produced, stamped and
distributed out of Teotihuacan workshops, believed to be located north of the Citadel. These host
figures have been found as far as Guatemala (900 miles away).
Brightly polychromed urns and incense burners sporting human and animal faces are among the
larger ceramics that survive from this era. The Teotihuacanos may have been able to take these
anthromorphic assemblages apart and reconfigure them into different deities from the constituent
parts. (Miller, Mary Ellen 2012) One large urn from Teotihuacan displays the image of an owl
deity that served the city s war cult. Owl depictions have been tied to war iconography all across
Mesoamerica because of their associations with nighttime and the

Definition Essay On Anti Abortion
Definition of anti abortion, anti abortion means that someone disagrees with a woman who is
pregnant that decides to take out/kill the life of a baby still inside the womb. A woman can have
an abortion up to 24 weeks, even though starting at 20 weeks is when the baby has developed all
arms and legs and has a heartbeat, it can now start feeling pain too. The definition of pro life, pro
life means to be there for the child who s life that was for, maybe not physically but people could
help by donating to children s homes, or help organizations that educate teens about safe sex plus
people could help the health department reach out to young girls who need birth controlor condoms.
There are many different ways to be pro life. These are just the names and examples of people who
disagree with abortionbut there are people who do agree, those who support abortion want to be
known as pro choice rather than pro abortion (Pro Life Or Anti Abortion?). They say the woman

The Drawbacks of Gun Control Legislation
Gun control is many issues of this nation summed up into two words. In the point of view of
some people gun control is a crime issue, while to others it is a rights issue. Gun control also is a
safety issue and believe it or not, an education issue. Within each of these problems, there are those
who want guncontrol legislation, and those like myself, who want less gun control legislation.
The second amendment states that we as citizens have the right to bear arms and protect
ourselves. Gun control only keeps the good guys from obtaining firearms. Bad guys will always
have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street
sales. Another drawback of any and all gun control legislation is that they only affect law abiding
citizens. By clarification a criminal is someone who breaks the law. Therefore, passing gun control
legislation to control crime committed by criminals is disagreeable. According to the
(NRA) National Rifle Association, only four criminals have been taken into custody while
attempting to legally purchase a firearm. Criminals do not purchase guns legally. They have other
ways to get guns, such as the black market or theft. Many citizens are for new gun control laws, but
many are against them. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to pick up a magazine or watch the
evening news without being blasted with details of another mass shooting, or another child that

Cellobiase produced more product when placed at the right temperature and pH. These experiment
also showed how the simplest change in any environmental factor could cause a change in function
of the enzyme. This experiment was a good source to show the effects of environment on enzyme
activity. The amount of product produce could be monitored by the amount of p nitrophenol

would have been testing the rate of reaction at a longer time then 2 minutes and at more enzyme

the ability to use the artificial substrate, it allowed the experimenter to visual see before measuring
the absorbance if product was made from substrate. It correlated that absorbance may be a direct
measurement of enzyme activity because in every experiment as the concentration of product (p
nitrophenol and glucose) increase so did the absorbance. Since these were the only experiments

with colorless enzymes and substrates one can t really know if absorbance is a direct measurement

Explain What Is More Important To You And Quality Of Life
What is More Important to You, Quality of Life or Quantity of Life?

Introduction Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said, In this world nothing can be said to be
certain, except death and taxes. Most people have no problem talking about taxes but death is a
taboo subject. Death knows no age, ethnic group or gender. It cannot be avoided. Modern medicine
has slowed the walked towards death but has not changed the outcome of everyone will eventually
die. Death and dying are something the human species all have in common across the world, yet
not enough conversation is had on end of life decision making. When there is a conversation it is
often too late and families are at odds with each other deciding what they think is best for the
person near the end of their life. The best person to make decisions regarding end of life care is
the individual and the best way to make these decisions known is ... Show more content on

Assessment Mackenzie Robinson In 13 Reasons Why By Jay Asher
Unit 2 : AssessmentMackenzie Robinson The book I read for this unit was 13 Reasons Why by
Jay Asher. The book is about Hannah, she has a very hard time with life. Her reputation is very
well know, but that is not really who she is. All the different events that have happened , have
formed her reputation. The events and stories about her are all made up. Everyone thinks they
are all true, her reputation is ruined. All the kids at her school continue to think she does stuff
with boys, herself and even girls so they start to make up more stuff that has come from short
clips they see and make it a whole video and add details in themselves. Hannah s problem and the
problem of the book was Hannah being bullied. Her solution took a long time and she was never
really sure until the end of the problems. She never had this thought until an event that triggered
her to think this. She just went along with all the bullying and all the rumors spread. She didn t
want to kill herself in a painful way. After her thought of suicide, she made the choice to make
cassette tapes. Seven of them all but the seventh one with using both side. That counts for 13 tapes
all in all. She wanted the people that caused her to feel like she just caused problems to know why

There could also be a sequel to this book about all the people that heard the tapes how they react.

Amazon s Career Choice Program
Some corporations do not have a clear understanding on what the public really wants and what
the society expects from a company (Mohr, Webb, Harris, 2001). Microsoft knew exactly what
the society wants to see regarding its social behavior. The organization is acting in a socially
responsible way, by beginning a process in which the company goes completely carbon neutral
across all of the company s operations. Furthermore, each business unit will be responsible for its
behavior. If the process fails Microsoft will lose a lot of money because it is a huge corporation. The
program Microsoft is trying to achieve is good for the environment and makes the company looks
good to the public (Grgurich, 2012).
Amazon Corporation is also a great example of a company that cares about its public image.
Amazon recently announced a new employee development program called The Amazon Career
Choice Program. Amazon will give all its full time workers the chance to undergo job training at
the company s expense. The most important accept of this program is that the job the employee is
performing has nothing to do with the field he wants to be working in. This program helped the
corporation public reputation because it is helping all Americans to work in a job they are actually
interested in (Grgurich, 2012).
Consumers are always the top concern for any business organization. Producing any product that
might be dangerous for the customers will cause the company its reputation and long term

Uranus, so jealous that when at the celebration of the birth of triplets, Opis killed Uranus and when
that happened the first planet, besides Earth was Uranus, to watch over the EArth forever. When

Huzza cried the Olympians, not including the Gods.
My first decree as king is that the Gods, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto are not allowed to give birth

When the Triplets heard of the decree, they were infuriated. They felt that Saturn was abusing his

Muslim Trade And Its Influence On Early West Africa
Muslim traders brought many new things to Africa which influenced the early West African
kingdoms and their cultures. In 800 AD, in between Niger and Senegal, Ghana was established
due to development of trade because of the farming communities. The king at the time, was seen
as a god like figure and he was able to control the price of exports and tax goods coming in and out
of the kingdom. Muslim merchants coming to trade brought Islam, Arabic language, coinage, and
their business practices as well as goods to trade for the salt and gold that Ghana was known for.
The King of Ghana eventually converted to Islam and employed Muslims as government councils
and officials allowing the spread of Islam to expand and the two cultures to defuse. After

The Pros And Cons Of Inmate Re-Incarceration In Prison
SUMMARY: Many inmates are incarcerated in prison for years and sometimes decades, then
released back into society with little education or training. Studies have found that 19 percent of
inmates are entirely illiterate, and 75 percent are functionally illiterate and read at a 4th grade level.
Therefore, without education, vocational training, or the ability to secure employment, many
formerly incarcerated people maladapt to society and return to crime and prison. Thus, a vicious
cycle of re incarceration called inmate recidivismis created. With all the positive outcomes of inmate
education, which include reduced recidivism rates and safer communities, my policy memo

Due to today s political climate may be problematic in getting State Funds allocation passed through

Emotional Guilt in Nathaniel HawthorneВґs The MinisterВґs...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil is a story of guilt, humility, sin, hypocrisy, love,
compounded emotional stability and trials of life. It is a work of gothic literary art that describes
the complexity of emotions and the psychological give and take that takes place when processing
and dealing with any human emotion. The gothic writing style Hawthorne uses in The Minister s
Black Veilmakes it easy for him to focus on one main emotion: guilt. Hawthorne is no stranger to
guilt, a huge reason why he discusses its nature so much. The Hawthorne families, formally known
as Hathorne, were involved in the Salem Witch Trials and have carried the shameand guilt of their

Hooper.
The use of a minister as the main character is especially significant throughout this gothic story. In
literary symbolism, a minister is applied as a symbol of light, happiness and peace. Hawthorne
takes this symbol and instead transforms Hooper into a representation of distress and obscurity. The
rumor Our parson has gone mad! (2432), becomes the general consensus of the surrounding
community. In this specific condemnation Hawthorne skillfully uses the word mad in this sentence
to portray various contexts. Firstly, the word mad is used to describe the mental state of the
Minister but it is also applied to depiction of the condition concerning the community s sense of
ordinariness. This coincides with the public s view that the Minister has become deranged because
they assume that he is hiding his identity from the community. Secondly, the connotation of the
word mad is that the community is slowly going mad because of the lack of knowledge of what is
happening with Mr. Hooper. Hawthorne also introduces a personal response from one of the public
that reads: ...I would not be alone with him for the world (2433), which describes the mistrust of
their minister that, in turn, is influencing them to become mad . A large portion of The Minister s
Black Veil that demonstrates this story is gothic is the technique

Prejudice In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen s usage of letters allows the reader to fully
comprehend the situation and certain feelings of the characters. For example, the two letters sent
by Jane Bennet to Elizabeth Bennet in Chapter 46 allow the novel to arrive at a turning point in

Wickham as well as Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. However the seriousness of the situation in itself,
the relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet is furthermore developed because of
these two letters. Elizabeth turns to Mr. Darcy as soon as he appears and immediately notifies
him of everything. This action of hers illustrates the budding closeness between the two and
how she relies on Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy blame themselves for not exposing Mr.
Wickham as the vagrant that he truly is. Therefore, this shared guilt provides the nascent couple
with a strong emotional connection and a universal principle. A major factor of a couple s
relationship is how they react in times of distress. Do they turn to each other for support or
withdraw from one another? Elizabeth s reliance on Mr. Darcy is a foreshadowing of a wonderful
relationship to come for the couple. The two letters alone are a catalyst in exposing these emotions
that might otherwise be suppressed. The two letters will generally contribute to furthering the
development of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s relationship. Perhaps the reasoning behind Lydia s
actions could be her family and their attitudes toward certain subjects such as men, romance, and
marriage. Mrs. Bennet is consistently pressuring her daughters to become married women in order
to ensure social status and financial security for the remainder of their lives. It seems that her only

conclusions based on family expectations and their views towards something, views within the

was able to get emotions, body language, thoughts and opinions first hand from a parent/carer s
point of view. This information however may be slightly bias because they were her daughters

choice because it gave me an idea of what both the carer and the dependent go through.
Questionnaires were chosen because it is easy to give out, collect and collate. They can give
bulk statistical responses which is what was needed. The responses were quite helpful and it was
a very sufficient way to gather data. Data analysis was used for a lot of this PIP because I needed

Normalization Is A Process Of A Composite Primary Key For...
Normalization is a process in the database design process which is done to ensure that the right
data is in the right table. It helps to overcome the update problems. There are various forms of
normalization namely 1NF, 2NF, 3NF, 4NF and 5NF. Another type of normalization is BCNF.
1NF ensures that there are no multi valued attributes in any table. 2NF is used to eliminate any
partial dependencies and ensure that all non key columns depend on the entire primary key. I
have used an auto incremental system assigned key to serve as a primary key for all the tables.
Hence the primary key can be modified if it is entered incorrectly or needs to be changed. This also

In the department table, department id being the primary key needs to be unique, but a
department could have more than one product. Hence I gave a system assigned primary key to
the department table. Now, it leads to transitive dependencies as department name was
determined by department id and did not depend on the primary key. Hence to bring the table to
3NF I made a separate department table and added a junction table to link product and
department. (3) The employee table had a start and end date. This did not cater to the face that
multiple employs could have the same start and end date and also an employee could resign and
join again. Also, the salary could change depending on his tenure. To address this and get the
table to 1NF, I made a separate entity for employee tenure making employee id as the foreign
key linking the employee table. (4) The order table had a primary key order id and columns for
state and tax. The tax was dependent on non key column state and hence the table violated 3NF.
Hence I separated the state and tax columns in a separate column and linked it to the orders table.
(5) The order table initially was designed to include billing. With the provision of a bill to be
cleared in multiple transactions the billing could have multiple values and hence was made a
separate entity to bring it to 1NF. The new billing table also has various columns for billing date,

industry titans, Nike and Adidas, and seize market share in the demanding sports apparel arena.
Explored in detail, Under Armour s strategy through examination of the company s history,
mission, influences, and capabilities along with recommendations, based on a study by Arthur A.
Thompson, to achieve their long term objectives.
Review of Case Study
Under Armour History
Founded in 1996, Under Armour was the brainchild of Kevin Plank, a former University of
Maryland football player. Kevin Plank understood that today s athletes required performance
apparel beyond the ordinary cotton T shirt, a performance shirt that would allow them to remain
cool, dry, and light during long workouts and games. Kevin s plan was to develop a T shirt that
provided a tight, comfortable fit and transferred perspiration and moisture away from the athlete s
body to evaporate quickly, thus regulating the wearer s body temperature. After developing a
prototype T shirt, with the newly obtainable polyester blend, moisture wicking fabric, Mr. Plank
formed an S corporation in Maryland named KP Sports (Thompson A. A., 2014).
Under Armour s mission has always been clear and focused, to make all athletes better through
passion, design, and the relentless pursuit of innovation (Under Armour

Three Types of Stigma Related to HIV
Goffman (1963) defined stigma as any condition, attribute, trait, or behavior that is deeply
discrediting and reduces the bearer from a whole and usual person to a tainted and discounted one. .
Stigma consist of an attributes that marks people as different leading to devaluation. Stigma is
socially constructed (Major O Brien, 2005) thus is dependent both on relationship and context. In
fact, Goffman (1963) emphasized using the language of relationships (p. 3) when considering
stigma. A subsequent framework proposed by Corrigan, Markowitz, and Watson (2004) expands the
social mechanisms of stigma by describing the structural determinants of stigma that arise from
economic, political, and historical sources.
Three types of stigma have been generally conceptualized in current HIV/AIDS psychosocial and
behavioral studies. These include: enacted stigma (overt acts of discrimination and hostility),
perceived stigma (subjective awareness of stigma), and internalized stigma (individual acceptance
of stigma as valid) (Steward et al., 2008). PLWH are stigmatized because their illness is socially
perceived as associated with deviant behavior; viewed as the responsibility of the individual;
tainted as to its immorality; perceived as contagious and threatening; associated with an undesirable
and an unaesthetic form of death; and not well understood by the lay community and viewed
negatively by healthcare providers (Alonzo Reynolds, 1995).

Persuasive Essay About Smoking
During one s lifetime they will make over a thousand mistakes that they will regret. One of those
thousand mistakes they will regret will be smoking tobacco and tobacco products. Many people
are going to regret smoking for multiple and various reasons that I am going to discuss in this
essay. The reason I chose smokingas my Rhetoric topic is because the addiction people have to it.
Also, another reason is because of the effects it has on people around it. The last reason why I
chose smoking is because of Second hand smoke. Second hand smoke is when the person next to
an individual is inhaling all the smoke from a person who is smoking. Second hand smoke as an
adult increases your chance of getting Pharynx, the throat, Larynx, is the reason people have voice
boxes. Getting Pharynx is an oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancercaused by using tobaccomainly
by pipes or cigars. Pharynx symptoms are usually changes in your voice, major weight loss, a
unusual cough and difficulty swallowing, according to cancer.org. If you have Pharynx cancer
you will need multiple radiology sessions to have it removed and that is not to have it removed
completely. Larynx on the other hand has sort of the same symptoms as Pharynx but, also have
a lump in your neck and or usually a earache. Second hand smoking for children increases their
risk of Leukemia, Liver cancer, and Lymphoma. Leukemia is a form of cancer that starts in your
stem cells of the bone marrow, which makes blood cells. Leukemia is also a common cancer
between children and teens. For most children and teens Leukemias symptoms contain fever,
weakness, weight loss, and easy bleeding or bruising. The average cost of Leukemia treatments
are about $46,000 to $47,000 and that is not including the diagnosis cost. The treatments to battle
Leukemia vary on about your age and health, the most common treatment is Chemotherapy, which
is the goal to stop or slow the growth of cancer. Chemotherapy damages the cancer cells inside
your body but, also at the same time it damages your white and red blood cells, and the Platelets.
Your Red blood cells carry the oxygen throughout your body, the White blood cells help fight the

Opportunities For Women In New York

Keywords Photovoltaic (PV), Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Parallel power
processing (PPP),Power Plane Analysis(PPA), Direct energy Transfer(DET). INTRODUCTION In
recent years, Energy comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and
geothermal heat. These resources are renewable. Therefore, for all practical purposes, these
resources can be considered to be unlimited, unlike dwindling conventional fossil fuels. The
renewable energy sources are known to be much cleaner and produce energy without the harmful
effects of pollution unlike their conventional counterparts. Solar energy is converted into electrical
energy and the electrical power generation in PV systems is highly affected by the temperature
and the insolation level which makes it impractical to directly connect them to the load without
any storage devices or utility grid interface. The PV systems focused on the minimization of the
installation costs and the maximization of the energy capture and conversion efficiency. In order
to maximize the conversion efficiency, the PV system should be operated at its maximum power
point (MPP). This power is supplied to the load using parallel power processing topology to
reduce the amount of power processed through the converter and, hence, decrease the converter
size and increase the efficiency by means of direct energy transfer (DET).The concept of the PPP
topology is shown in Figure.

The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the
Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and
keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of
the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a
serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is
toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to
continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes,
motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and
mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but
when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not
every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just
unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a
follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot
step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with
poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an

Justice Is Not A True Form Of Justice
With the world being covered with injustice and cruelty, we must decide what being just actually
means. The question of what is justice is a question that has spanned the ages. However, we have
begun to form an outline to what we believe may or what may not be a correct form of justice .
Aquinas attempts to rhetorically show us what the truest form of justice is. Aquinas takes into
account many different factors asking what justice is and whether justice is always toward
another, to name a few examples. I will attempt to use the writings put forth by Aquinas to prove
whether the judicial system within Ferguson, Missouri is being completely just or if the justice
being dealt for the police officer is not a true form of justice.
On Monday, November 17, 2014 there was an article within the New York Times written by John
Eligon, Julie Bosman, and Monica Davey titled In Ferguson, Tactics Are Set for Grand Jury
Decision in the Brown Case. This controversial case is in move because of a debatably
overpowering shooting of an eighteen year old boy. However, this shooting was done by an
officer of the law. We must decide what is just within this very extreme case that is being tried.
On one hand we see that an unarmed eighteen year old boy was shot and killed in the middle of
the street on that dreadful August 9th. However, on the other hand we see that the shooter was an
officer of the law and someone that we have put our trust into to create a better sense of

Acid-Base Titration Lab
Abstract
By using acid base titration, we determined the suitability of phenolphthalein and methyl red as acid
base indicators. We found that the equivalence point of the titration of hydrochloric acid with
sodium hydroxide was not within the ph range of phenolphthalein s color range. The titration of
acetic acid with sodium hydroxide resulted in an equivalence point out of the range of methyl red.
And the titration of ammonia with hydrochloric acid had an equivalence point that was also out of
the range of phenolphthalein.. The methyl red indicator and the phenolphthalein indicator were
unsuitable because their pH ranges for their color changes did not cover the equivalence points of
the trials in which they were used. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Analysis Of Jimmy Santiago Baac Poetry As Lifesavor
Literary Analysis of Jimmy Santiago Baca: Poetry as Lifesavor The article, Jimmy Santiago
Baca: Poetry as Lifesavor retells the challenges and hardships Baca experienced. Rob Baker, the
author, informs the readers that past experiences will continually influence decisions in the future.
In the beginning it is revealed that the characters parrents abandoned him at the young age of
seven. His troubles only worsened as time went on for he dropped out of junior high, due to not
performing well academically and socially. Therefore, he fell into the wrong crowds and was
eventually sentenced to prison for five to ten years, at the age of twenty one. Poety helped him to
overcome the mental and emotional impact that prison imparts with the individual. Baca now uses
his experiences to reach out to the community by becoming a teacher to encourage children to
embrace their own stories. Rob Baker s tone and diction assists the readerin comprehending how
Bacas past shaped his future. The serious tone and the vocabulary Baker applies; adds to the
total effect of Bacas story. The vocabulary is simple enough for a varitey of ages to understand,
although elaborate enough to be capable of picturing the scene, The healer who tended to her
wound and then brought Baca into the world said that because of the venom Baca would be able
o see in the dark and he would change many times in his life (Baker 893). Both diction and and
tone appeals to the emotions of the reader, for it causes the reader to be aware that this story is
reality to Jimmy Santiago Baca. The author utilizes examples, compare/contrast, a story line, and
cause effect. Baker gives the reader an example of Bacas employment before prison, He worked
piecemal jobs loading food on planes, operating a vending machine route, a handyman business.
Then, during stints in Caliornia and Arizona, he became a very successful drug dealer (Baker
893). Demonstrating how much the character struggled to create a living without a formal
education. Baker not only compared and contrasted Bacas skill level before and after prison but
also his quality of life. Illustrating Baca as an individual who could not read or write to someone
who fell in love with poetry. The writer

Richard Nixon s Improper Behavior
The clear lesson for modern policymakers that can be derived from these episodes of improper
behaviour is that subordinates should have clearly defined responsibilities and be subject to
stringent oversight. Many of the so called White House horrors that occurred during Nixon s term
of office were not committed or even endorsed by him personally, but rather were a natural result
of the chaotic structure of his staff secretariat. As Farrell notes, the accepted historical record is
that Nixon did not have prior knowledge of the Watergate break in, as he sounds genuinely baffled
on the tapes when he is first made aware of the event. The firewall between the president and his
aides ultimately created an arrangement in which Nixon was unable... Show more content on

Clearly, Nixon s fleeting sense of morality during Watergate demonstrates a failure of leadership
of the most severe magnitude. But, to be fair to Nixon, he was a genuine visionary in the field of
foreign policy and his leadership in opening the door to China in 1972 is often regarded as a
stroke of genius. Mao himself acknowledged that only Nixon could go to China . Nixon s legacy,
therefore, is a curious mixture of startling success and abject failure. With this in mind, it seems
there are two essential lessons that policymakers should draw from Nixon s period in office. The
first is that they must always maintain discipline among their staff to avoid creating situations in
which individuals become empowered to conduct themselves unethically with impunity. Secondly,
a leader should be aware of his personal flaws and seek to compensate for them to ensure that they
do not become a caricature of themselves. Had Nixon followed these principles, perhaps his
reputation would not be in the mangled state that it is

Characteristics Of Gun Shootings
When conducting an investigation for a homicide due to a handgun it is important that investigators
and firearms technicians have an understanding on how a handgun is manufactured, what is a bore,
rifling patterns and their purpose, and caliber. Class and individual characteristics are present in
handguns, projectiles and shell casings. Every handgun contains general rifling characteristics
based on the number and width of grooves, as well as the direction of grooves. After a handgun is
fired it can present with penetrating and perforating gunshot wounds, which have specific entry and
exit characteristics. The muzzle to distance characteristics vary depending on how close or distant
the shooter was from the victim or surface. Finally, at a crime scene an investigator must gather
evidence at a death scene. When a handgun is used the investigator should document class
characteristics of a firearm, bulletor shell casing. Also, the handgun or ammunitionshould be dusted
for fingerprint and DNA evidence.
Early handguns of the 14th century were made of a bronze tube or wrought iron, packed with gun
powder and a projectile then ignited through a touch hole. These early guns were wildly inaccurate
and often failed. By 1835, Samuel Colt patented the first revolving cylinder and chamber handgun,
which was later mass produced as a weapon of choice by military personnel. The automatic pistol
arrived in the late twentieth century. Today, modern firearms come in a variety of

Film Review The film, The Godfather, was released on March 24, 1972. The time period that the

families fighting throughout the film. One of the main characters, Michael Corleone, changes

Color being one element, was really used in the film helped and played a major role to help the
viewer see the obscurity and wickedness that lied within all of the characters. The colors were
used to also manipulate the way your mood fluctuated throughout the movie. Another strong
element used was the set design. The set was used to show what time period the movie was set
in, but also where the Mafia was mainly located throughout the movie. The dialogue furthermore
showed and helped the viewer really get the feel of where the characters are from, and their
culture. The costumes additionally played a major role in showing where the characters were
from in the movie. The costumes helped audiences get the full ambiance of the time period and
moods of the characters. Also, there are many scenes in the movie that make you anxious and

How Does Darcy Present Elizabeth In Pride And Prejudice
Elizabeth is an interesting individual not because she is a natural beauty and possesses almost

Elizabeth does have flaws however, one being that when she doesn t want to listen or believe

Tapir Facts
Interesting Facts about Tapir
Tapir is an animal that is closely related to a rhino horse. Because of its short prehensile trunk it
resembles a pig. The nose of a tapir is shaped like a short trunk which it uses to grip fruits and
leaves on the tree branches. It most likely grips the tree limb with its trunk and pluck off fruits.
They are the most primitive large animals in the world. Even while been around for 20 million
years, they changed very little. The remains of tapir ancestors have been found on every continent
except Antartica. According to San Diego.org, the name tapir is derived from the Tupi Indian
word tapya (language spoken until 17th century in Brazil) the name Tapirus later came to be by
Brisson. April 27 each year has been set aside and marked as World Tapir Day.

Atkins Diet Healthy
Is the Atkins Diet healthy?
The Atkins Diet, also known as a ketogenic diet, promotes a low carbohydrate and high fat content
in an individual s eating habits.1 It was designed in 1972 by Dr. Robert Atkins, and its popularity
derives from the elimination of calorie counting and disregard for consumption restrictions on fat,
protein content, or portion size. 2, 3 The Atkins Diet is divided into four stages(insert 3). The initial
stage dramatically decreases carbohydrate intake to less than 20g per day(insert 3). Subsequently,
every two weeks carbohydrate intake increases; with attendant weight loss being a marker of
successful progression.3 This paper evaluates whether or not the Atkins Diet is healthy, in particular
it narrows the focus on aspects of three body systems: the cardiovascular system, the respiratory

The Efficient Market Hypothesis (Emh) Has Been Subject
The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) has been subject to professional and academic debate and
analysis for many years, and refers to the theory proposing that stock prices show all information
regarding a firm s value. An efficient market is a market in which investors with the same
information and similar investment goals compete actively (Sewell, 2012). Many private investors
and investors aiming to make profits are involved with the stock marketand often make low risk
investments while aiming for high rates of return. However, the efficient market hypothesis states
that it is impossible to consistently outperform the stockmarket as the market is able to quickly
adjust to new information. The Efficient Market Hypothesis also addresses... Show more content on

The semi strong form of market efficiency argues that an individual should not be in a position to
benefit by utilizing public information. (Potocki and Swist, 2012). Market analysts and financial
economists should have the ability to understand the financial information and how it affects the
stock market prices.
The Validity of the Semi Strong Form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis
Many researchers have tested the validity of the semi strong form of the Efficient Market
Hypothesis through testing major announcement event such as dividend announcements and bonus
issue announcements. (Khan and Ikram, 2010), This is because the announcements may offer
desirable factors to the market which will influence stock prices. Observing the performance of
mutual funds and brokerage companies is the second aspect for evaluating the semi strong form of
market efficiency (Khan and Ikram,2010). This is because brokers and fund managers are believed
to have access to non public information that gives them an advantage when trading on the stock
market.
Review of Previously Conducted Studies
A previous study on the validity of the semi strong form demonstrated that the live log market
consistently fails to perform (Raymond Peter, 1979), and the results concluded that the live log
market was flawed

Multiple Discriminant Analysis
WEB EXTENSION 22A Multiple Discriminant Analysis s we have seen, bankruptcy or even the
possibility of bankruptcy can cause significant trauma for a firm s managers, investors, suppliers,
customers, and community. Thus, it would be beneficial to be able to predict the likelihood of
bankruptcy so that steps could be taken to avoid it or at least to reduce its impact. One approach to
bankruptcy prediction is multiple discriminant analysis (MDA), a statistical technique similar to
regression analysis. In this extension, we discuss MDA in detail and illustrate its application to
bankruptcy prediction.1 Suppose a bank loan officer wants to segregate corporate loan applications

In the 17th century, the Dutch Republic experienced a Golden Age and was able to maintain

Coca cola bottlers incident led to the company s compromised reputation Gladys Loretta in
Surabaya
Sunday 3 May 2015 07.20 WIB
The Coca cola bottlers incident where union members and the workers are murdered started on
the 1990s. This incident is considered as a corporate crime. A corporate crime is a crime made
by a company that harms other people s lives. Sometimes they harm the ecosystem as well.
However, on this case, the Coca cola bottlers did not harm the ecosystem but they hurt their own
workers and the union members. Coca cola bottlers hired illegal paramilitary groups to
intimidate, threaten, and kill their own workers. These paramilitary groups also threatened to
lease a bomb attack on the union headquarters. All they did was to scare the lives of the union
members and the workers. They also hired far right militias of the United Self Defence Forces of
Colombia (AUC) to murder nine union members. Coca cola was able to dodge from this case as
they claimed that they weren t involved with the death of the union members. The killer itself is

In India, Coca Cola destroyed the local agriculture by using the natural resources, which is
supposed to be for public, for themselves (privatizing). This action caused the lack of water in

chloride and contains a lot of bacteria), leading to diseases like scabs (skin disease), eye problems,

somehow correlated to Karl Marx s theory. The action of Coca cola in privatizing the natural water

A girl, so very young, who already knows what a freedom march means has no idea what she
will experience. A scared mother who does not want her little girl to see what is going on has no
idea what is fixing to happen. Randall Dudley s Ballad of Birmingham, gives a clear vision of
what happened this day in 1963. The bombing at the 16th street baptist church in Birmingham,
Alabama was a tragic event for the ones in this time. The poem shows the social and historical
context of what exactly was going on during this time. The author, Randall Dudley, was born on

The WTO Secretariat report, along with a policy statement by the Government of Bangladesh,
will serve as a basis for the trade policy review of Bangladesh that will take place on 2 and 4 May
2000 in the Trade Policy Review Body of the WTO. The report also notes that in the face of
severe political difficulties and civil unrest, the government of Bangladesh seems to have lost its
impetus for structural reforms. Moreover, devastating floods, combined with infrastructural
failings such as power shortages, inadequate port facilities and insufficient energy supplies, led to
a sharp drop in export growth from 17.1% in 1997/98 to 2.9% in 1998/99. The report says that
textiles, and particularly clothing, have dominated Bangladesh s exports, with their combined share
growing from 70.4% in 1992 to 83.5% in 1998. These exports have been a principal source of
Bangladesh s economic growth in the 1990s. The exports are destined mostly for the U.S. and
European Union markets, to which Bangladesh has privileged access. The report notes that such
heavy dependence on a limited number of products makes the Bangladesh economy vulnerable to
increased competition from other Asian countries that produce labour intensive garments, as these
countries recover from the recent economic crisis with substantially depreciated currencies.

Profit Margin Benefits
How is technology making the market more efficient? By looking at it through the producers
side. For instance, look at Apple Products. The new Iphone 6 goes for about $650. According to
Time Inc. to make an Iphone it costs them around $200. That gives the device a profit margin of
about 69 percent. The 6 plus is one hundred dollars more which gives them a 71 percent margin.
Does such a profit margin seem justified? Yes, business is business, and a company that creates
and sells a product wants to make money. But does it have to be sold for so much money
(androidpit)? No, but people still go out and buy these products because they want to be up to date
on all the products that are fresh out. Although the price of the product make seem like it

Transnational Corporations Influence On Modern Sports
The power of transnational corporations control modern sports by manufacturing sport related
items, made by huge corporations around the world, while influencing our society (Maguire, Jarvie,
Mansfield, Bradley, 2002). These corporations manufacture items, not only worn by the team
players, but also their fans. Fans have favorite team players and want to show their support by
purchasing related items. For instance a manufacturer like Adias sponsors a player or team with
logo wear, equipment, and clothing. By having the team wear their merchandise, this helps increase
their sales to the public, making a huge profit from the sporting world.
Global flows have several dimensions: migrant, technology, economic, media, and ideological, that

The global sports industry features corporations that will manufacture clothing, shoes, equipment,

displayed by famous players and teams. In reaction, the fans will want to obtain items just like
their favorite teams wear, therefore making these corporations millions. This is very apparent with
the Ohio State Buckeyes. Loyal fans have numerous logo items such as: shirts, coats, flags,
bumper stickers and so on. However, the sponsored corporation for any particular team could
possibly pull their sponsorship due to the person or team not upholding their end of the deal.
Sometimes they pull sponsorships due to bad publicity, scandals, or allegations. These financial

Shel Silverstein The Giving Tree Analysis
The Giving tree by Shel Silverstein is an elementary level children s book with illustrations. The
book is about a young boy and his relationship with a tree throughout his life. The tree is always
giving him something to make him happy and fulfill his needs. The tree never complains and is
always happy to help the boy. As the boy grows older he finds different uses for the tree. At the
beginning of the story, the young boy and the tree are very close but as he gets older he grows
apart from the tree and only visits when he s in need of something. I personally love this book a

This line also makes me feel anxious and a little sad because i feel that the tone foreshadows
sorrow. As the story goes on it in fact is a little sad because the young boy decided to go on and
discover bigger, better things in life and he always forgets about the tree that loves him so
much. This reminds me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in
amongst our peers and try new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to
forget about our parents and we give more importance to other things and end up taking our
parents for granted. Regardless of how the boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him
daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how strong the love is. The tree is always so
excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t feel the same way. Come Boy,
come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat apples and play in my shade
and be happy! I am too big to climb and play said the boy. He always asked the tree for something
each time he visits and without hesitation the tree gives him every part of itself but the young boy

appeared to Abram, and said, To your offspring I will give this land. Therefore, he built there an
altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him (Gen. 12:7). Abram knew that through his faith in God
would blessed Abram and his decedents and Abram would be the father of many nations. From
these promises, all must flow from and through Abram, to accomplish God s plan, the birth of

God also, uses a different order when who is to be bless in regards to males heirs as opposed to
female wives. With the male heirs, Cain, Able and Seth, Esau and Jacob, Ishmael and Isaac(Israel)
Esau it is the second whom is to be blessed. However, with the females it is the first whom is
truly blessed. Yes, Racheal did give birth to Joseph whom would be the father of the twelve
tribes and a great leader to his people in Egypt and Benjamin would be the leader of ten tribes.
However, it is through God s plan and His desires that all must be achieved. Aside from the
human frailties and lack of faith in God, all must proceed according to Gods plan and Gods will.
Through Genesis, one sees stories or tales of lack of faith, patience, and belief in the Divine

murder, to murder. All of this, because people are human, God realizes this and shows the up most

Scientific Revolution Vs Enlightenment
Throughout history, human motivation resulted from a mixture of four desires: the desire to know,
the desire to exist, the desire to have power, and the desire to create. All of these desires together
impacted historical development. However, from the Age of Exploration to the French Revolution,
the desire to create seems to have played the strongest role. This can be seen in the enslavement of
Africans, the reign of King Louis XIV, the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, and the
beginnings of the French Revolution. During these times of hardship and triumph, new cultural
practices were created, new forms of government were created, new ways to interpret science were
created, and new theories in the humanities were created. These creations... Show more content on

The French collectively wanted to create a country where there were universal human rights for
all. The French Revolution was the outcome of the government going broke and the king calling
the legislature to meet. Among the legislature were many Enlightenment scholars who were
influenced and inspired by the creation of new schools of thought in all humanities (Discussion
notes, March 27). This legislature went on to create the Declaration of the Rights of Man and
Citizen (1789). In this declaration, everyone aside from women were granted the freedom of
speech and the right to own property. Consequently, this radical creation led to the abolishment of
slavery and the doing away with noble titles (Discussion notes, March 27). This legislature
completely revolutionized a country s way of life and empowered those who had been oppressed
for so long. Although women s rights were not included in this document, it still inspired women
to create their own legislature called the Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female
Citizen. Article I of this document declared that, Women are born free and lives equal to man in
her rights (DMW 19.2, Olympe de Gouges, Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female
Citizen , page 319). This may sound like a simple statement, however during this time the
suggestion that women were equal to men was comical.

What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy
1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about
the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating
why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that
characternamed Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a
good relationship with the main character.
2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and
Ara T as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since
he hisses whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he
collects trash, has dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they
re dirty and roam the streets.
3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock
on the door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a
neighbor they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him.
Another pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad
word to the neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he
messed up by lying to Mrs.Rat.
4. An artifact that would help you understand the character IS this book because it s his diary

  • 2. The Parting And Love s Last Lesson Comparison Paying particular attention to the ambiguous representation of love/death, compare and contrast Michael Drayton s The Parting (c. 1593), Lord Byron s When We Two Parted (1815) and Letitia Elizabeth Landon s Love s Last Lesson (c.1838) in relation to poetic features, function and effect. Paying attention to the ambiguous representation of love and death, this essay will compare and contrast Michael Drayton s The Parting (c. 1593), Lord Byron s When We Two Parted (1815), and Letitia Elizabeth Landon s Love s Last Lesson (c. 1838) in relation to poetic features, function, and effect. Tom Furniss and Michael Bath state in Reading Poetry: An Introduction, literary criticism in the Twentieth Century has come to regard ambiguity in poetry as one of its most characteristic and valuable features (Furniss Bath, 1996: 207). The literal definition of ambiguous is having more than one meaning, open to more than one interpretation (Concise Oxford English Dictionary, Oxford University Press, 2011, p40). Ambiguity in poetry is viewed as an important and an effective feature by literary critics and poets everywhere, with William Empson stating: The machinations of ambiguity are among the very roots of poetry (Empson, William, Seven Types of Ambiguity, 1930). An elegy is a poem that laments the death, and love poetry can be about a romantic relationship whether it is ongoing or has ended. In relation to heartbreak, emotions or strategies used to convey these emotions can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Role Of Quentin Tarantino In Pulp Fiction Today in an era of action movies with tons of CGI explosions and simple cheesy dialogue, there are very few directors who have their own signature style of filmmaking. Quentin Tarantino is one of the world s most known directors. Each of his films is highly anticipated, as he draws upon the subjects and themes of previous films to produce a fresh storyline (Quentin Tarantino: The Cinematic Mastermind of the Mix and Match Genre Theculturetrip.com). His films are in my opinion, some of the best made in the past 20 years. Many say his movies are so one of a kind that you can argue that Tarantino has his own sub genre. One reason why Quentin Tarantino is so respected and considered to be one of a kind is because he is one of the few most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of his films are related to each other, set in the same universe. Fun fact: Mr. Blonde AKA Vic Vega, the cold blooded murdering criminal from Reservoir Dogs is the brother of Marcellus Wallace s business associate Vincent Vega from pulp fiction. Another Tarantino Easter egg is in Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega Takes Mia Wallace, played by Uma Thurman, out to dinner she describes the plot of a pilot she starred in. The character she played was described as the deadliest woman in the world with a knife; this is also the character summary of the Bride in Kill Bill who is also played by Thurman. I also shouldn t forget to mention that Lee Donowitz from True Romance, a film written by Tarantino, is the son of Donnie Donowitz, the Jewish American soldier known as The Bear Jew and is highly feared by German soldiers. I will also mention that The Hateful 8 was originally supposed to be a Post Civil War sequel to Django Unchained, but that never happened. There are no coincidences in Tarantino s movies. Few directors have such an obsession with hiding homages to other films, plot clues, and Easter eggs into their movies. In an interview with The Project, Tarantino stated There s the realer than real universe, alright, and all the characters inhabit that one. But then there s this movie universe. And so From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, they all take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rave Theater and 1950 s drive in themes. Muvico sold its Maryland Egyptian location, and three of its Florida locations Paradise 24, Palace 20, and Boynton Beach 14. The Maryland Egyptian Theater was often one of the highest grossing movie theaters in the nation. Cinemark strengthened their presence in Florida in result of the Muvico theaters purchase. In 2012 Cinemark acquired Rave Cinemas for $240 million, this arrangement included 32 theaters from over 12 states which accumulated to represent about 483 screens. However, Cinemark had to sell four of its newly acquired theaters and by 2013 the sale was closed. Technology makes it easier to watch movies on the couch, and studios are releasing movies to cable customers on the premiere days. Members of the movie going demographic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Food is a vital component of a theater s profit making. Most profits come from the high markup on popcorn and soda. Movie theaters are really in the snack business. In the bloom of the cinema, popcorn really wasn t a must have item when going to the movies as it wasn t sold during the silent film era. However when the Great Depression hit, theaters began to sell popcorn and gained huge profits that kept them alive through the hard economy. Knowing that there are movie theaters that offer gourmet food and liquor, people will be willing to watch the movie while enjoying their food. A recent fad in the industry is serving the guests as they are waiting for their movie to begin. Consumers can order during previews, and enjoy their food as the movie begins. The audience also pays twice sometimes triple the price of a product just to experience the food at the theater, because it taste different . People do not notice a small tax rate of an additional 5 10 cents, yet realize the prices have gone up 12 20 cents but still continue to purchase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Teotihuacan Artistic Influence Teotihuacan: Sphere of Artistic Influence In the Basin of Mexico about 7,000 ft above sea level lies the ruins of the ancient city of Teotihuacan, the place of the gods, which flourished from 100 650 A.D. Little is known about this city s mysterious demise of power, besides evidence of what appears to be ritualized burnings at major temples and centers. The impact of Teotihuacan throughout Mesoamericais evident, and the most obvious indicator of this influence is through artistic style. Just how far was the expansion of Teotihuacan s artistic influence across Mesoamerica? I will use a variety of sources not only to define the Teotihuacano art style as a whole, but also to map the path of its successful impact, (and also resistance,) across subsequent Mesoamerican civilizations, focusing principally on the Maya. The architectural style known as talud tablero marks the presence of Teotihuacan abroad more distinctly than any other aspects of its art. The sloping talud (talus) supports the vertical tablero (entablature), which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 450 AD, versatile mold made ceramics were beginning to be mass produced, stamped and distributed out of Teotihuacan workshops, believed to be located north of the Citadel. These host figures have been found as far as Guatemala (900 miles away). Brightly polychromed urns and incense burners sporting human and animal faces are among the larger ceramics that survive from this era. The Teotihuacanos may have been able to take these anthromorphic assemblages apart and reconfigure them into different deities from the constituent parts. (Miller, Mary Ellen 2012) One large urn from Teotihuacan displays the image of an owl deity that served the city s war cult. Owl depictions have been tied to war iconography all across Mesoamerica because of their associations with nighttime and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Definition Essay On Anti Abortion Definition of anti abortion, anti abortion means that someone disagrees with a woman who is pregnant that decides to take out/kill the life of a baby still inside the womb. A woman can have an abortion up to 24 weeks, even though starting at 20 weeks is when the baby has developed all arms and legs and has a heartbeat, it can now start feeling pain too. The definition of pro life, pro life means to be there for the child who s life that was for, maybe not physically but people could help by donating to children s homes, or help organizations that educate teens about safe sex plus people could help the health department reach out to young girls who need birth controlor condoms. There are many different ways to be pro life. These are just the names and examples of people who disagree with abortionbut there are people who do agree, those who support abortion want to be known as pro choice rather than pro abortion (Pro Life Or Anti Abortion?). • 7. The Drawbacks of Gun Control Legislation Gun control is many issues of this nation summed up into two words. In the point of view of some people gun control is a crime issue, while to others it is a rights issue. Gun control also is a safety issue and believe it or not, an education issue. Within each of these problems, there are those who want guncontrol legislation, and those like myself, who want less gun control legislation. The second amendment states that we as citizens have the right to bear arms and protect ourselves. Gun control only keeps the good guys from obtaining firearms. Bad guys will always have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street sales. Another drawback of any and all gun control legislation is that they only affect law abiding citizens. By clarification a criminal is someone who breaks the law. Therefore, passing gun control legislation to control crime committed by criminals is disagreeable. According to the (NRA) National Rifle Association, only four criminals have been taken into custody while attempting to legally purchase a firearm. Criminals do not purchase guns legally. They have other ways to get guns, such as the black market or theft. Many citizens are for new gun control laws, but many are against them. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to pick up a magazine or watch the evening news without being blasted with details of another mass shooting, or another child that ... These experiment also showed how the simplest change in any environmental factor could cause a change in function of the enzyme. This experiment was a good source to show the effects of environment on enzyme activity. The amount of product produce could be monitored by the amount of p nitrophenol present, which couldn t be done with using Cellobiose. Factor that could have been improved would have been testing the rate of reaction at a longer time then 2 minutes and at more enzyme /substrate concentrations. The data produce from the enzyme and substrate concentration parts never showed where the reaction reached Vmax. The most important factor of this experiment was the ability to use the artificial substrate, it allowed the experimenter to visual see before measuring the absorbance if product was made from substrate. It correlated that absorbance may be a direct measurement of enzyme activity because in every experiment as the concentration of product (p nitrophenol and glucose) increase so did the absorbance. Since these were the only experiments done that was the only conclusion that could be constructed. Since absorbance can t be measured with colorless enzymes and substrates one can t really know if absorbance is a direct measurement of enzyme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tracy Cusatis Misericordia University Introduction Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said, In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. Most people have no problem talking about taxes but death is a taboo subject. Death knows no age, ethnic group or gender. It cannot be avoided. Modern medicine has slowed the walked towards death but has not changed the outcome of everyone will eventually die. Death and dying are something the human species all have in common across the world, yet not enough conversation is had on end of life decision making. When there is a conversation it is often too late and families are at odds with each other deciding what they think is best for the person near the end of their life. The book is about Hannah, she has a very hard time with life. Her reputation is very well know, but that is not really who she is. All the different events that have happened , have formed her reputation. The events and stories about her are all made up. Everyone thinks they are all true, her reputation is ruined. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil is a story of guilt, humility, sin, hypocrisy, love, compounded emotional stability and trials of life. It is a work of gothic literary art that describes the complexity of emotions and the psychological give and take that takes place when processing and dealing with any human emotion. The gothic writing style Hawthorne uses in The Minister s Black Veilmakes it easy for him to focus on one main emotion: guilt. The Hawthorne families, formally known as Hathorne, were involved in the Salem Witch Trials and have carried the shameand guilt of their families decisions through generations. Throughout this story,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hooper. The use of a minister as the main character is especially significant throughout this gothic story. In literary symbolism, a minister is applied as a symbol of light, happiness and peace. Hawthorne takes this symbol and instead transforms Hooper into a representation of distress and obscurity. The rumor Our parson has gone mad! (2432), becomes the general consensus of the surrounding community. In this specific condemnation Hawthorne skillfully uses the word mad in this sentence to portray various contexts. Firstly, the word mad is used to describe the mental state of the Minister but it is also applied to depiction of the condition concerning the community s sense of ordinariness. This coincides with the public s view that the Minister has become deranged because they assume that he is hiding his identity from the community. Secondly, the connotation of the word mad is that the community is slowly going mad because of the lack of knowledge of what is happening with Mr. Hooper. Hawthorne also introduces a personal response from one of the public that reads: ...I would not be alone with him for the world (2433), which describes the mistrust of their minister that, in turn, is influencing them to become mad . The Usage of Jane s Letters in Pride and Prejudice In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen s usage of letters allows the reader to fully comprehend the situation and certain feelings of the characters. For example, the two letters sent by Jane Bennet to Elizabeth Bennet in Chapter 46 allow the novel to arrive at a turning point in many different aspects. However the seriousness of the situation in itself, the relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet is furthermore developed because of these two letters. Elizabeth turns to Mr. Darcy as soon as he appears and immediately notifies him of everything. This action of hers illustrates the budding closeness between the two and how she relies on Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy blame themselves for not exposing Mr. Wickham as the vagrant that he truly is. Therefore, this shared guilt provides the nascent couple with a strong emotional connection and a universal principle. A major factor of a couple s relationship is how they react in times of distress. Do they turn to each other for support or withdraw from one another? Elizabeth s reliance on Mr. Darcy is a foreshadowing of a wonderful relationship to come for the couple. The two letters alone are a catalyst in exposing these emotions that might otherwise be suppressed. The two letters will generally contribute to furthering the development of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s relationship. Another type of normalization is BCNF. 1NF ensures that there are no multi valued attributes in any table. 2NF is used to eliminate any partial dependencies and ensure that all non key columns depend on the entire primary key. In the department table, department id being the primary key needs to be unique, but a department could have more than one product. Hence I gave a system assigned primary key to the department table. Now, it leads to transitive dependencies as department name was determined by department id and did not depend on the primary key. Hence to bring the table to 3NF I made a separate department table and added a junction table to link product and department. (3) The employee table had a start and end date. This did not cater to the face that multiple employs could have the same start and end date and also an employee could resign and join again. Also, the salary could change depending on his tenure. To address this and get the table to 1NF, I made a separate entity for employee tenure making employee id as the foreign key linking the employee table. (4) The order table had a primary key order id and columns for state and tax. The tax was dependent on non key column state and hence the table violated 3NF. Hence I separated the state and tax columns in a separate column and linked it to the orders table. (5) The order table initially was designed to include billing. Kevin Plank understood that today s athletes required performance apparel beyond the ordinary cotton T shirt, a performance shirt that would allow them to remain cool, dry, and light during long workouts and games. Stigma consist of an attributes that marks people as different leading to devaluation. Stigma is socially constructed (Major O Brien, 2005) thus is dependent both on relationship and context. In fact, Goffman (1963) emphasized using the language of relationships (p. 3) when considering stigma. A subsequent framework proposed by Corrigan, Markowitz, and Watson (2004) expands the social mechanisms of stigma by describing the structural determinants of stigma that arise from economic, political, and historical sources. Three types of stigma have been generally conceptualized in current HIV/AIDS psychosocial and behavioral studies. These include: enacted stigma (overt acts of discrimination and hostility), perceived stigma (subjective awareness of stigma), and internalized stigma (individual acceptance of stigma as valid) (Steward et al., 2008). PLWH are stigmatized because their illness is socially perceived as associated with deviant behavior; viewed as the responsibility of the individual; tainted as to its immorality; perceived as contagious and threatening; associated with an undesirable and an unaesthetic form of death; and not well understood by the lay community and viewed negatively by healthcare providers (Alonzo Reynolds, 1995). 2)The relation of stigma and ... INTRODUCTION In recent years, Energy comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat. These resources are renewable. Therefore, for all practical purposes, these resources can be considered to be unlimited, unlike dwindling conventional fossil fuels. The renewable energy sources are known to be much cleaner and produce energy without the harmful effects of pollution unlike their conventional counterparts. Solar energy is converted into electrical energy and the electrical power generation in PV systems is highly affected by the temperature and the insolation level which makes it impractical to directly connect them to the load without any storage devices or utility grid interface. The PV systems focused on the minimization of the installation costs and the maximization of the energy capture and conversion efficiency. In order to maximize the conversion efficiency, the PV system should be operated at its maximum power point (MPP). This power is supplied to the load using parallel power processing topology to reduce the amount of power processed through the converter and, hence, decrease the converter size and increase the efficiency by means of direct energy transfer (DET).The concept of the PPP topology is shown in Figure. ... The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadershipis a serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue? Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. The question of what is justice is a question that has spanned the ages. However, we have begun to form an outline to what we believe may or what may not be a correct form of justice . Aquinas attempts to rhetorically show us what the truest form of justice is. Aquinas takes into account many different factors asking what justice is and whether justice is always toward another, to name a few examples. I will attempt to use the writings put forth by Aquinas to prove whether the judicial system within Ferguson, Missouri is being completely just or if the justice being dealt for the police officer is not a true form of justice. On Monday, November 17, 2014 there was an article within the New York Times written by John Eligon, Julie Bosman, and Monica Davey titled In Ferguson, Tactics Are Set for Grand Jury Decision in the Brown Case. This controversial case is in move because of a debatably overpowering shooting of an eighteen year old boy. However, this shooting was done by an officer of the law. • 29. Acid-Base Titration Lab Abstract By using acid base titration, we determined the suitability of phenolphthalein and methyl red as acid base indicators. We found that the equivalence point of the titration of hydrochloric acid with sodium hydroxide was not within the ph range of phenolphthalein s color range. The titration of acetic acid with sodium hydroxide resulted in an equivalence point out of the range of methyl red. And the titration of ammonia with hydrochloric acid had an equivalence point that was also out of the range of phenolphthalein.. The methyl red indicator and the phenolphthalein indicator were unsuitable because their pH ranges for their color changes did not cover the equivalence points of the trials in which they were used. • 33. Richard Nixon s Improper Behavior The clear lesson for modern policymakers that can be derived from these episodes of improper behaviour is that subordinates should have clearly defined responsibilities and be subject to stringent oversight. Many of the so called White House horrors that occurred during Nixon s term of office were not committed or even endorsed by him personally, but rather were a natural result of the chaotic structure of his staff secretariat. As Farrell notes, the accepted historical record is that Nixon did not have prior knowledge of the Watergate break in, as he sounds genuinely baffled on the tapes when he is first made aware of the event. Mao himself acknowledged that only Nixon could go to China . Nixon s legacy, therefore, is a curious mixture of startling success and abject failure. With this in mind, it seems there are two essential lessons that policymakers should draw from Nixon s period in office. The first is that they must always maintain discipline among their staff to avoid creating situations in which individuals become empowered to conduct themselves unethically with impunity. Secondly, a leader should be aware of his personal flaws and seek to compensate for them to ensure that they do not become a caricature of themselves. Characteristics Of Gun Shootings When conducting an investigation for a homicide due to a handgun it is important that investigators and firearms technicians have an understanding on how a handgun is manufactured, what is a bore, rifling patterns and their purpose, and caliber. Class and individual characteristics are present in handguns, projectiles and shell casings. Every handgun contains general rifling characteristics based on the number and width of grooves, as well as the direction of grooves. After a handgun is fired it can present with penetrating and perforating gunshot wounds, which have specific entry and exit characteristics. The muzzle to distance characteristics vary depending on how close or distant the shooter was from the victim or surface. Many private investors and investors aiming to make profits are involved with the stock marketand often make low risk investments while aiming for high rates of return. Using media of various sorts all over the world promotes their items to spectators, by showing their product being proudly displayed by famous players and teams. In reaction, the fans will want to obtain items just like their favorite teams wear, therefore making these corporations millions. This is very apparent with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Loyal fans have numerous logo items such as: shirts, coats, flags, bumper stickers and so on. However, the sponsored corporation for any particular team could possibly pull their sponsorship due to the person or team not upholding their end of the deal. Sometimes they pull sponsorships due to bad publicity, scandals, or allegations. • 52. Shel Silverstein The Giving Tree Analysis The Giving tree by Shel Silverstein is an elementary level children s book with illustrations. The book is about a young boy and his relationship with a tree throughout his life. The tree is always giving him something to make him happy and fulfill his needs. The tree never complains and is always happy to help the boy. As the boy grows older he finds different uses for the tree. At the beginning of the story, the young boy and the tree are very close but as he gets older he grows apart from the tree and only visits when he s in need of something. I personally love this book a lot. This story can have many different messages because each person can interpret the message in their own way and theres so many different possibilities. I feel that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This line also makes me feel anxious and a little sad because i feel that the tone foreshadows sorrow. As the story goes on it in fact is a little sad because the young boy decided to go on and discover bigger, better things in life and he always forgets about the tree that loves him so much. This reminds me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in amongst our peers and try new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to forget about our parents and we give more importance to other things and end up taking our parents for granted. Regardless of how the boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how strong the love is. The tree is always so excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t feel the same way. Come Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat apples and play in my shade and be happy! I am too big to climb and play said the boy. He always asked the tree for something each time he visits and without hesitation the tree gives him every part of itself but the young boy is still never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Research Paper On Abram When God told Abram to leave his homeland and to move on (see illustration #1) (Gen.12:1 2NSRV) God made a promise to Abram. I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing . (Gen. 12:1 3) Then the LORD appeared to Abram, and said, To your offspring I will give this land. Therefore, he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him (Gen. 12:7). Abram knew that through his faith in God would blessed Abram and his decedents and Abram would be the father of many nations. From these promises, all must flow from and through Abram, to accomplish God s plan, the birth of Christ and the salvation for humankind after the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Therefore,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God also, uses a different order when who is to be bless in regards to males heirs as opposed to female wives. With the male heirs, Cain, Able and Seth, Esau and Jacob, Ishmael and Isaac(Israel) Esau it is the second whom is to be blessed. However, with the females it is the first whom is truly blessed. Yes, Racheal did give birth to Joseph whom would be the father of the twelve tribes and a great leader to his people in Egypt and Benjamin would be the leader of ten tribes. However, it is through God s plan and His desires that all must be achieved. Aside from the human frailties and lack of faith in God, all must proceed according to Gods plan and Gods will. Through Genesis, one sees stories or tales of lack of faith, patience, and belief in the Divine Lord of Abrams people. All of the protagonists of Genesis in one way or another tried to God s way or will. • 54. Scientific Revolution Vs Enlightenment Throughout history, human motivation resulted from a mixture of four desires: the desire to know, the desire to exist, the desire to have power, and the desire to create. All of these desires together impacted historical development. However, from the Age of Exploration to the French Revolution, the desire to create seems to have played the strongest role. This can be seen in the enslavement of Africans, the reign of King Louis XIV, the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, and the beginnings of the French Revolution. During these times of hardship and triumph, new cultural practices were created, new forms of government were created, new ways to interpret science were created, and new theories in the humanities were created. These creations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The French collectively wanted to create a country where there were universal human rights for all. The French Revolution was the outcome of the government going broke and the king calling the legislature to meet. Among the legislature were many Enlightenment scholars who were influenced and inspired by the creation of new schools of thought in all humanities (Discussion notes, March 27). This legislature went on to create the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen (1789). In this declaration, everyone aside from women were granted the freedom of speech and the right to own property. Consequently, this radical creation led to the abolishment of slavery and the doing away with noble titles (Discussion notes, March 27). This legislature completely revolutionized a country s way of life and empowered those who had been oppressed for so long. Although women s rights were not included in this document, it still inspired women to create their own legislature called the Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female Citizen. Article I of this document declared that, Women are born free and lives equal to man in her rights (DMW 19.2, Olympe de Gouges, Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female Citizen , page 319). This may sound like a simple statement, however during this time the suggestion that women were equal to men was comical. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Swag Contests The things that I thought worked for the program was that the kids were all welcomed with open arms and enthusiasm, which helped them to feel comfortable and excited about the activities of the day. They were able to arrive and have something to eat before starting the day. The opening ceremonies each morning gave structure and allowed the students to know what they could expect during the day. The reflection time allowed the kids to have quiet time or time to burn off their excess energy by playing basketball or football out in the grass areas. I think the guys truly enjoyed the time playing sport and could see that college life can include both academic and recreational activities. It was nice to display both arenas to them. • 56. What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy 1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that characternamed Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a good relationship with the main character. 2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and Ara T as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since he hisses whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he collects trash, has dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they re dirty and roam the streets. 3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock on the door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a neighbor they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him. Another pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad word to the neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he messed up by lying to Mrs.Rat. 4. An artifact that would help you understand the character IS this book because it s his diary /memoir. There is a lot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
