festival and special event management
Festivals and special events are a growing business in the world s current trends. With special
events growing and generating more and more money for communities and nations this assignment
will take an in depth look how special events and festival have a positive and negative effect on
the environment the economy, society and culture. Festivals especially have developed
dramatically since the first known weekend long concerts in California in the summer of 67. With
new technology and production it has allowed festivals to improve the quality of events and
provide more in ways of entertainments to meet guests needs. This in turn also allows festivals and
special events to allow more people to attend the event than before.

This type of national event brings communities together to support each other with everyone across
the country whilst raising money and awareness. Reading and Leeds festival are examples of
national events that are purely held for entertainment value. People come together for a celebration
of music. Whilst reading and leeds are well known fairly large towns festivals like latitude in
Lowestoft a smaller town brings people from across the country improving the towns revenue by
tourism of UK citezans. It also brings the community together in he setting up of the event to make
it the most successful it can be. For example the farmers around the local area paint all there sheep
different colours to improve the atmosphere for festival goers.
Community events are smaller scale events used as a celebration, to raise money/awareness or to
break records. A well known celebration between communities is bonfire night where many towns
people come together to watch a parade and to burn guy forks on the bonfire which is then
ususually followed by a firework display. The people in the parade are normally local societies and
charities using the parade to raise money. Those watching the parade put money in fundraising pots
as the parade travels through the town. This is a good way of the community being entertained
whilst also knowing there money is going back into making there environment safer and nicer and

The Trench Monologue
Click. The tape recorder started up.
It was dirty that s for sure. The rats ate at your toes and the smell was horrible.
Ed paused and wiped a tear from his eye, staring right across the table at his grandson, who
preceded to ask the age old question.
What really happened that day Grandad?
The grey sky hung close to 16 year old Ed and the other soldiers as they stood, lined up in the
trench. Rain poured heavily over their helmets, draining into the mud. The French sun hid hazily in
the smog covered sky. THUD THUD THUD, cannons pounded shells through the air, towards the
Germans.
Get ready men! shouted the commander.
Next to Ed, a man named John loaded his rifle.
You ready Ed? he whispered.
Ed nodded.

moment to feel a bullet rip through him. Then, out of the blue, a single shot rumbled across the

The machine gunner who had spared his life was slumped over, motionless.
Moonlight flooded into the trench as the patrol officers found Ed curled up in a ball, weeping.
What is your name son?
Ed Aarons, sir, he said, looking up.
I can t believe you re still alive! Your family is worried sick about you, back in England. You will

When I got back home, I expected to be bullied by my family, like before. But it was quite the
opposite. They were proud of me for surviving the war. I gave John s letter to his mother; it was
a horrible experience to say the least. The whole thing is just senseless, killing each other. I hope
no one else ever has to experience the things I saw. To this day, I feel like my soul is still there on
that battlefield, twisting around in the barbed

Southwest Airlines Internal Analysis
Executive Summary
Southwest Airlines is one of the most profitable airlines in the airline industry. During turbulent
economic times Southwest has managed to continue strong revenue growth in a disastrous
environment and has operated profitably for 39 consecutive years (Mintzmyer, 2012). Southwest
Airlines has capitalized on the company s strength of being the top low cost carrier by offering a
simple and efficient business plan that prides itself on customer service. Southwest utilizes only the
Boeing 737 to streamline their processes, and utilizes their award winning Southwest.com to drive
ticket sales. Southwest has begun to capitalize on future market opportunities by purchasing

5). According to Maxon (2010, para. 1) in 2010, for the third straight year, Southwest Airlines
carried more passengers than any other U.S. carrier. In 2011 Southwest Airlines Co. (2012)
reported 104 million passengers carried with an average passenger load factor of 80.9 percent.
In an industry that ranks last in satisfaction among all industries measured by the American
Customer Service Index Southwest Airlines remained far and away at the top of the list with
scoring 81 out of a possible 100 (McIntyre, 2011, para. 1). These are just a few of the accolades
Southwest is able to tout. Southwest does have a strong customer satisfaction rating, resulting in a
strong business and a large cash flow. It would be very easy to continue to list the strengths of
Southwest Airlines. However, after a review of strengths there must be a review of weaknesses.
The most obvious weakness noted in performing any review of Southwest Airlines is regarding the
company s service area. Currently Southwest Airlines serves 103 destinations in 41 states, and the
District of Columbia. What is missing is Southwest serving a share of the international market. In
the year 2009 2010 U.S. carriers received 85.8 million international passengers (U.S. Department of

Social Disorganization In The Dark Knight Rises
Social Disorganization theory is a theory that looks at deviant behavior and the community it
arises in. The way people are raised and what environment they are raised in effects who they
become when they are older. Factors such as poverty, industrialization, immigration, shifting
social values, city population and more can all effect ones way of thinking and their actions
(Buccellato 2017). In the film Dark Knight Rises city of Gotham is a unique environment that
definitely pushes people to do things they normally would not do had they not been in this
certain environment. In the Dark Knight Rises people are left to fight for their own safety and
they did not have social capital, collective efficacy, and they were not in The town of Gotham
goes into hiding and protecting because of Bane. Bane has many people in the power elite who
are working for him on the bad side. The people of Gotham turn to theft and lose control of their
sanity because of their fear of dying. Bane made people lose their minds due to fear and uncertainty.
These factors pushed them over the edge into committing crime. Social Disorganization researchers
perceived criminals and delinquents to be normal individuals whose criminal acts were stimulated
by their environment (Rafter and Brown 2011: 50). Bane put up a TV for Batmanto watch his city
crumble to the ground after Bane releases all the prisoners who have been kept in prison for years

The Improvised Explosive Device ( Ied ) Essay
Winston Churchill said, You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing after they
have tried everything else .1 Three years after field commanders requested Mine Resistant
Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles the Pentagon approved the request and asked Congress to
pay the bill.2 The defeat of Saddam Hussein by Coalition Forces created a growing insurgency in
Iraq from the summer of 2003 through the surge of U.S. Forces in 2008. The improvised
explosive device (IED), the insurgent s choice weapon, was responsible for 50 80% of U.S.
deaths from 2005 through 2008.3 A CNN poll conducted in March 2003 showed 72% of
Americans supported the war in Iraq and 3 years later only half that number, 36%, of Americans
supported the war in Iraq.4 Public support for the war diminished as deaths increased while U.S.
Forces conducted non kinetic operations focused on rebuilding Iraq. Also during this time,
Congress began to ask the Pentagonwhy they could not defeat the IED threat.
Despite mounting Congressional pressure, the Pentagon was not prepared to procure MRAPs
under a normal acquisition process. Ultimately, Secretary Gates made the rapid acquisition of the
MRAP his number one priority.5 This essay will highlight three factors that made the MRAP
acquisition program different from a normal acquisition. First, Congress and Secretary Gates, called
for immediate MRAP procurement. Next, MRAP procurement was unexpected as the Pentagon
planned to be in and out of Iraq quickly.

Analysis of Home in the Grapes of Wrath
You can leave home all you want, but home will never leave you. Sonsyrea Tate. Tate s quote has
distinct meaning depending on the individual who analyzes it. Many believe this quote to mean
that a home is not a single place or object, but a concept or state of mind, which you have when
you are around your family or loved ones. In the book The Grapes of Wrathby John Steinbeckthis
idea of home is where the heart is, is shown throughout the book. One of the main characters, Ma,
shows with great strength the concept of home is not a dwelling or place where you live, but a
state of mind. Ma, throughout the course of the book understood that a home is not a place, but
where you are with your family. During the course of the book Ma takes... Show more content on

She was also upset about the family breaking apart when Noah, and Connie left on their own.
She believed a family must stay together even in tough times. She did not care where they
would live, as long as wherever they were the family would remain together, because she
understood the concept of a home being where your loved ones are. In one of the final chapters
of the book Ruthie out of anger tell about how Tom killed a man. So Ma out of fear goes to meet
Tom, there they discus what Tom should do. Although Ma is worried about Tom and his safety
where he goes, Tom makes a speech about where he would be. One part being An when our folks
eat the stuff they raise an live in the houses they build why, I ll be there. (Steinbeck, 537) Tom
makes mention of a house as a single location; while Ma is not concerned with that, as she is
more concerned about Tom s safety saying how is she going to know if he is hurt or killed. This
can be taken as even though her fear of breaking the family apart, she is worried whether Tom
can be safe. Showing how even though a person can leave a home. They still take part of the
home a carry it with them for the rest of their life. Homes are simply not places or a possession,
but the love of the family you surround yourself with. Ma is one of the only characters in the
book that truly realizes this. Some characters, such as Rose of Sharon, are focused on the
possessions in life and only see home as a location.

Role Of Homeobox Geness
Introduction The expression of homeobox (or HOX) genes is essential for the development of the
normal embryo. These genes encode proteins that act as transcription factors called homeoproteins
which regulate development of the embryo across the anterior posterior (AP) axis. Homeoproteins
are the ultimate regulators of development; however mutations in the homeobox genes specifically
HOXC10 are oncogenic (by gain of function mutations) and aid in the proliferation of certain cancer
types and developmental disorders. Elucidation of HOXC10, its function in embryonic
development at the molecular level, and characteristics shared among the function(s) of its
paralogues should allow for better understanding of HOXC10 s role primarily... Show more content

In embryonic development spatial patterning along with HOX gene expression indicates the order
of paralogues within the cluster according to 3 distinct aspects: (1.) spatial collinearity indicates
the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 which induces embryonic development
along the AP axis; (2.) temporal collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of
genes from 3 to 5 that coordinates HOX gene expression during development; and (3.) posterior
prevalence HOX genes that reside closer to 5 areas of the cluster will possess a dominant
phenotype compared to those that reside closer to 3 areas of the cluster. The nature of these aspects
provides further insight into the complex nature of gene expression, regulation, and the basis of
morphogenesis. Given that there are 4 paralogous clusters these actions of collinearity suggest some
form of redundancy in HOX gene function (Shah, N paper).
The role of HOXC10 in development: Homeodomain containing gene 10 (HOXC10) belongs to the
HOXC gene cluster that resides on chromosome 12 (ACAMPORA_HUMAN HOX FAMILY).
Expression of the gene leads to the production of a transcription factor that possesses a helix turn
helix motif and functions as either a monomer or heterodimer containing a unique three amino acid
loop extensions called TALE. TALE functions as a co factor and promotes embryonic development
and tumorigenesis. Nonetheless common TALE domains

The Blue Green Anesthesia Mask Essay
As I m wheeled through the silver doors into the sterile white operating room, I begin to panic.
This is my first surgery, and I feel as if I am in a living nightmare. Before I can even think about
it, the nurses guide me onto the skinny white operating room bed. A few seconds later, the blue
green anesthesia mask is put on my face, and I feel like I am going underwater with my eyes
closed. Then everything around me goes completely black. I was diagnosed with a rare, non
agressive type of skin cancer on my scalp in 2011. Soon after diagnosis, I underwent an MRI to
see exactly how big the cancer was. Fortunately, it was only the size of a pencil eraser. After
seeing countless doctors, we (my parents and I) finally decided to see a surgeon specializing in
cancer at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. We met with the cancer
surgeon (Dr. Wayne), and he agreed to remove the cancer. We also saw a plastic surgeon (Dr.
Kim) the same day to discuss reconstruction options so that my scalp would look as normal as
possible after the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for the morning of February 8, 2012 at 7 AM;
however, we need to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 to start the preparation process. As we walk
through the Outpatient Surgery unit doors, I immediately notice the amount of chaos surrounding
the unit. You wouldn t know that it was only 5:30 AM with all the noise! There are people

He is a hardworking, tough but emotionally drained and withdrawn kind of person. Sometimes he
would try to fake a smile and act numb to put on a facade to everyone. His struggle to find a family

Learning How to Fear in Popular Media Essay
Popular media is known for reproducing gender ideologies via lyrics and music video
productions. P.I.M.P (Remix) reproduces patriarchal gender ideologies both lyrically and visually.
However, the production has incorporated a pimping is fun and prestigious theme that trivializes
crime, and does not elicit a fear of crime. This paper will primarily focus on Randol Contreras
article Damn, Yo Who s that Girl? to elaborate on the maledominant genderideology expressed in
this prompt. The music video begins with 50 Cent in the company of women in lingerie. In
addition to the lyrical hook, the theme has been firmly introduced where 50 Cent is the dominant

50 Cent plays the same role because he reveals that he does not actually care for shorty s
sexuality; but just wants to use her to make money. This is visualized as 50 Cent leads the way
while his women follow him submissively. In conclusion, this prompt reproduces male
dominant gender ideologies. The following scene takes place at the Headquarters Pimp Legion
of Doom, where there is a room full of pimp, with Snoop Dogg being the chosen one, Big Jeffery.
This situation involves some sort of a trial that 50 Cent must pass to be a member of the pimp
legion of doom. Initially, 50 Cent is considered to be fresh game to the table, due to having a
uniqueness to him because he don t drive a Cadillac, he don t got a perm. However, 50 Cent
elaborates that he has achieved fast progress because of this unique lifestyle and his magic stick,
a symbol of power and skill. In terms of gender ideologies, this scene suggests that masculinity is
attained based on the Code of the Street theory. Basically, 50 Cent has proven that he does not
have to fit in to be a successful pimp and this is a way of commanding respect from the pimp
legion of doom. Furthermore, 50 Cent s uniqueness is his representation of masculinity has gotten
him respect and protection. Opposing perspectives may find this prompt inappropriate because it

technological advance in computing, with computer spreading over in usage to various areas of
life. The enunciation of a new era in computing as regards to health care has emerged to play a
prominent role in the delivery of healthcare. The application and use of machines and computer
based technologies in health care have undergone an evolutionary process. Advance in information,

Hence the need to provide support services which add real value to healthcare delivery is highly
required, giving rise to health insurance schemes and policies. For the masses to benefit from it
there must be timely, effective, reliable and efficient healthcare delivery at this level. The available
record shows that this has not been achieved yet. The current method used by most hospital in
ascertaining insurance information of patient is still manually and inefficient. This makes the
operation unnecessarily slow and cumbersome. The problems observed include the following: *
Slow tracking of medical insurance information that is needed for urgent decision making and
analysis * Lost of vital and important information * Difficulty in retrieving insurance information
1.3Justification of study The idea of computerizing the medical insurance system is to fully
computerized the existing insurance scheme at the hospital end, removing the manual systems
which have so many hand downs. The Computerized Medical Insurance System (CMIS) provides:
* An accurate and efficient data/information that is well organized and easier to read compared to
the traditional paper insurance record. * It improves the efficiency of processes such as data
collection, data management, data retrieval and Maintenance of up to date medical insurance
information for quick and fast decision making. * Proper patient insurance record maintenance *

How The Different Mixing Methods Affected The Final Volume...
Figure one shows how the different mixing methods affected the final volume of the mayonnaise.
It is expected that as the mixing methods gained speed and applied more shear force, the
mayonnaise would have more volume. This was seen in the data. The biggest volume of
mayonnaise achieved was done by a blender and by a homogenizer. The blender that yielded a low
volume product was because the emulsionbroke, which explains why a large volume was not seen.
The high speed homogenizer also had problems with the mayo, which explains their low volume
yield. A mayonnaisemade with a lot of shear force is expected to have a greater volume because
the higher the sheer force, the smaller the oil droplets would be. This means that there were
smaller oil droplets which allowed more total droplets to be incorporated into the mayonnaise.
More droplets leads to a higher volume because there is more surface area in the mixture of the
internal and external phase. The emulsion also remained stable due to the smaller droplets, which
will be looked at in detail later. Since the mayo was more stable, none of the emulsion broke during
the time between preparing the mayonnaise for analysis and when it was actually analyzed.
Overall, the results seen in figure one were generally expected.
Figure two shows the effect of different mixing methods and their effect on various texture
indicators of the mayonnaise. These indicators were thickness, viscosity, and separation. It is
expected that the higher

American Indians Unexpected Places
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Americans witnessed the end of the Indian
Wars, the concentration of American Indians on reservations, and the rapid industrialization and
urbanization of American life. Many people assumed that since indians were locked away on
reservations, they had little to say about and made few contributions to modernity. According to
Deloria, technology was one of the factors that made Indians modernized. Automotive mobility
helped Indian people evade supervision and take possession of the landscape, helping make
reservations into distinctly tribal spaces (Deloria, 153). When American Indians acted in ways that
contradicted that Indians were pre modern, non Native Americans Interpreted these anomalous
people and instances as either exemplars of the assimilation process or proof that Indians were
inherently flawed. For instance, many believed that indians who purchased automobiles had either
adopted aspects of a superior culture or profligately waste their meager resources (Deloria, 5,6).
However, American Indians invested meaning into their activities that contradicted America s

What Is The Tone Of The Seafarer
The Seafarer by Burton Raffel was written during the Anglo Saxon period where the Anglo
Saxon warriors lived to defend their King, like in the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight.
One of the warriors speaks about his challenges and begins saying that his story is not at all
joyful. It is a story full of pain and suffering. The story paints a picture of what it means to be
dislocated , set out , all by oneself and how badly it feels. My feet were cast in icy bands, bound
with frost, with frozen chains, and hardship groaned around my heart. Hunger tore at my sea weary
soul. No man sheltered on the quiet fairness of earth can feel how wretched I was .(Raffel 1) The

Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Biologics
A critique of an article published by The New York Times suggests a Breakthrough in treatment for
joint pain of patients suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis. The article suggests that a drug known as
a Biologic taken with Methotrexate may effectively treat pain and swelling symptoms caused by
Rheumatoid Arthritis. Before critiquing the article, it is necessary to discuss the anatomy and
physiology of Rheumatoid Arthritis so you may have a better understanding of the disease and the
possible treatments. Rheumatoid Arthritis is classified as an autoimmune disease; it is a chronic
inflammatory disorder in which the immune system attacks the tissues of the synovial joints of the
individual who is suffering from the disease (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). The attacks cause
inflammation to the synovial joints; the onset of inflammation brings both pain and swelling to
the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Inflammatory cells appear in the joint cavity of the synovial
joint and release inflammatory chemicals that destroy the body tissue at the joint (Marieb and
Hoehn 2013). The disease is bilateral, meaning that if it affects a joint on one side of the body, for
example the left wrist; chances are that it will affect the same joint on the opposite side of the body
(Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by flare ups in which the synovial
joint swells due to the inflammatory chemicals destroying tissue in the synovial

The Confederate Flag As A Symbol Of American History
The Confederate Flag Is the confederate flag a true symbol of Heritage or Hate ? Recently there
has been a big debate over the nation for the flying confederate flag. Many states in America s
south had the confederate flag as a part of their state flag, but this has been changed over the
past few months. This confederate flag has been known and flown for many battles over the
past century and a half, which was ever since the start of the Civil War in 1861. Some people
today see this flag as a symbol of hatred and are willing to get rid of it by taking it down. On the
other hand, some people see this flag as a symbol of American history and want to keep this flag
flying for heritage. The real question is who is right and why? On July 10th, 2015 the
confederate flag was finally taken down, along with the pole it flew on. After one hundred and
fifty four years this flag will forever be gone. Many people were happy and glad to see the
confederate flag go because it has lately been seen as a symbol of hate. On June 17th, there was a
shooting massacre in Charleston, South Carolinathat was related to the confederate flag. This was
all the more reason to take down the flag and to keep people from egging on hatred toward
African American people. On July 8th, 2015 a debate was held to see if the people wanted the
flag to stay flying or to be taken down. By 6:30 p.m., the chamber was engaged in an extended
debate over a Pitts amendment that would remove the battle flag and

Online Recruitment Methods And Traditional Staffing Methods
Strategic staffing is the key element to recognize and deal all concerns related to staffing in several
departments. Moreover, staffing is the process of selecting, attracting, and retaining the best talents
to reach the organizations goals. Nowadays, some organizations have a difficult time to recruit the
right candidates. Furthermore, organizations use two staffing methods to recruit candidates.
Technology has brought incredible changes in recruiting process. Also, web technology still
revolutionizes recruiting and more than 100 000 employers in the world recruit on the internet and
not using the traditional method. The internet staffing is a strategy that gives the opportunity to get
tested anywhere in the world while traditional recruitmentprocess is to recruit via newspapers,
employment offices, etc.... In my paper, I will demonstrate how web staffing methods differ from
traditional staffing methods; therefore, I will discuss the advantages and challenges of internet
staffing methods and traditional staffing methods. In addition, internet staffing and traditional
staffing methods vary in terms of time, cost, quality and retention.
Approach
The research aims to gather information about recruiting methods through Internet or traditional
means. Therefore, I found interesting articles and books that can provide excellent information
about how to recruit either through Internet or traditionally. Besides, this, I will also examine

Animal Abuse Summary
Every day in the United States animals are beaten, neglected, and forced to struggle for survival.
They are left in horrible conditions, ones without any food and or water. Some are lucky, they
are found and rescued, being given a chance to survive by being cared for in a shelter or even
given a new home. But others, aren t so lucky. We must fight for these animals rights and punish
the heartless owners. Its up to us to speak up for these creatures who don t have a voice. The first

management failures and unprecedented destruction of shareholder value are brought into the light,
it becomes increasingly difficult to defend current executive remuneration policies with these
economic underpinnings. For example, the Occupy Wall Street movement began in 2011 in protest
of the increasing disparity of wealth among other reasons lying within corporate America. The peak
of CEO compensation came in 2001, and it is still difficult to argue whether the financial crisis of
2008 or the change in compensation strategy has slightly stagnated the exponential growth the
started in the mid 1970 s. The sentiment around the problem is whether the large banks CEO
compensation are fair to their employees, shareholders, and the community as a whole. There is a
plethora of steps to comprehend in developing how the CEO compensation debate came about. The
reasons for this growth rely on bank deregulation. During difficult financial times after the mortgage
crisis, arguments both for and against

GMO Controversy Foods
GMO, CONVENTIENTLY LETHAL!?
Bacon tomatoes!? Tomatoes and eggs!??!?
Genetically modified food have been the subject of much controversy lately. Genetically
modified organisms (GMO s) are a broad group of plants, animals and bacteria that are
engineered for a wide for a variety of purposes ranging from agricultural production to scientific
research. The types of potential perils posed by GMO vary depending on the type of organism
being modified and its intended purpose (EOH, 2003).
What are the medical, environmental, legal, social issues that surround this issue?
All GM foods in Australia have to meet premarket safety assessments imposed by the government
and must comply with the Australia New Zealand food standard code (Better health ... Show more

The views of Food production companies and customers vary greatly. Food production companies
and farmers believe the advantages of GMO s currently outweigh the disadvantages and will
continue to do so into the future. Farmers and Food production companies believe genetically
modified crops do not need pesticides to achieve stronger protection and resistance against various
kinds of pests, insects and bacteria that may destroy it, (REFERENCE).
Customers believe that GM foods can be used to change the properties of the crop through the
addition of nutrients, making them taste better, or through the reduction of growing time (Chaury,
2004). The food and agricultural organization of the United Nations believes that some GM foods
have been modified to be more nutritious, through minerals or vitamin content (Duvauchelle, 2014).
This is highly valued in developing countries where malnutrition rates are extremely high.
How is this a local and national issue?
GM foods effects local and national communities. GM foods is a local issue as it effects local
farmers because of food production companies such as Monsanto, which sell their products
worldwide. The export market makes GM foods a local and national issue. Makes it an issue at
local level for those who buy GM foods as they may or may not be aware of their

Referential Anxiety In Albert Camus The Fall
La Chute translated The Fall, was published in 1956 by Albert Camus . The Fall is Camus last
completed novel according to the Nobel Prize in Literature. The Fall can be seen as complex. At
times, interpreting and analyzing can be difficult to some when attempting to understand the novel.
However, according to Referential Anxiety in Contemporary French Fiction by David R. Ellison,
there is no right or wrong way to interpret The Fallbecause Camus never had the chance to
explain it himself. David R. Ellison argues that It seems as if no real progress has been made in
deciphering the text s central enigmas due to this. For the reader, this is good or bad news. The

Physiology Of The Ear
Introduction
The ear is a combination of different organs and body parts that in conjunction allow us to hear. It
is a sensitive piece of anatomy that can easily be abused, different frequencies at certain amplitudes
through out our audible and inaudible ranges can slowly or very quickly damage our ability to
perceive audio, even through something as simple as listening to your headphones mildly to loud.
This damage can be present in many different forms each with variable extremities.
Physiology of the Ear
The ears previously mentioned are a collaboration of different very small and delicate organs and
body parts. The first and most recognisable part of the ear is the only visible section, the Auricle,
Pinna or outer ear, this works as the receptor for audio and works quite on the contrary to the horn
of a gramophone, it s larger surface area allows for the capturing of sound waves and then funnels
the vibrations in through the ear cannel to the other parts of the ear (Mackenna and Callander,
1997). The next piece of anatomy to receive the acquired sound waves is the tympanic membrane or
the eardrum, this is stretched indirectly across the end of the ear canal, it operates as the main
sound receptacle, when sound waves hit it s surface it vibrates, which then causes the ossicles; the
combination of the malleus, stapes and the incus, located and attached to the eardrum transmits the
sound to the vestibular window, two muscles then modulate the

Developing Countries During World War II
1. Introduction: Since World War II, trade between growing and manufacturing nations has
strengthened and borrowing of poor countries from the rich countries has increased. The growing
link between these two groups of economies increased eventually in addition to the increase in the
rate of dependability amongst them. With the rapid growth in wealth and industrialization of the
First World, only a few developing countries managed to have adequate economic growth on the
line of the developed countries. Many of the developing countries which were poor at that time
still remained to be poor today even today in comparison to the industrialized nations. Dearth of
capital and skilled labor produces a low level of per capita income preventing the developing
countries to realize their economies of scale through which many of the developed countries benefit
from. Several attempts have been made by developed countries to decrease the disparities between
rich and the poor economies. To finance their domestic investment, developing countries rely on
other governments or international organizations like International Monetary Fund (IMF) and
World Bank to procure loans. Besides these loans, foreign investments in these countries are
financed by private companies, this from of investment is known as Foreign Direct Investment
(FDI). In case of FDIs, the foreign companies, especially Transnational Corporations (TNCs), invest

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a perfect society? Truth is, there are no perfect
societies due to the many reasons that lead them to fall. So why do societies fall? Many great
societies have fallen due to corrupt leaders, scarcity in necessary resources, and sickness.
Germany, China, Sierra Leone, and the fictional society of Ember, are all examples of how once

The Economic Impacts of Legalized Gambling
Introduction
The effect of gambling on the standard of living will be pronounced if the gambling activity is
regressive, meaning that the rate of participation (as a percentage of income) declines as people
earn higher incomes. In other words, if most gamblers are poor, then gambling is more likely to
affect the standard of living among the poor. One study showed many forms of gambling to be
regressive.

Casinos might indirectly affect public revenue as well. Insofar as casinos generate additional
business income, they might indirectly increase other forms of tax revenue. Insofar as they
cannibalize sales from other businesses, they might decrease net tax revenue. Anders, Siegel, and
Yacoub (1998) find that as a result of the introduction of two Indian casinos into Maricopa
County, Arizona in 1993, employment and retail sales in the restaurant and bar sectors declined.
Popp and Stehwien (2002) estimate a similar model to examine the effect of New Mexico s 11
Indian casinos on gross state tax receipts using quarterly data from 1990 to 1997. They also find a
negative effect of Indian casinos on state sales tax revenues the introduction of a single Indian
casino is found to be associated with a one percent decrease in county tax revenues, but the
introduction of a second Indian casino in the county if found to reduce sales tax revenue by more
than six percent. While suggestive, these analyses are limited in scope and their results do not
necessarily generalize to the experiences of other states.

A Nation s Economic Success And International...
A nation s economic success and international competitiveness depends upon the policies it set.
These policies are dependent on a variety of factors such as foreign direct investment and trade.
According to Phillips et al (2006), the global financial platform has been showing transitional
change over the last two decades in which foreign aid as a source of capital flow is drying up.
Markusen and Venables (1998) explained that financial institutions like the IMF and the World
Bank on their own are feeling the strains of meeting the financial demands of especially developing
countries. In this respect, economic policy makers in governments of both developing and
developed economies take great strides in attracting capital inflows... Show more content on

FDI plays in the economic growth process of the host country. A good number of the studies and
discussions show that there exists a strong correlation between FDI and economic progression. In
addition to being an engine for diffusion of knowledge and transfer of technology, FDI also
stimulates international trade, domestic investment, expands host nation s domestic savings, and
increases the host country s foreign exchange reserves adjusting its Balance of Payment post. These
factors increase the economic growth of the host nation. Exports are also regarded as a means of
economic growth. They facilitate production of goods and services efficiently by exploiting and
attaining a competitive advantage over other nations. The success stories of East and South East
Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia suggest that foreign direct investment is a
powerful tool to promote export for the host country. Grossman and Helpman (1993) explain that a
number of investigations confirm that FDI through MNCs (multi national corporations) offer
greater merit over local companies in regard to export performance. These MNCs bring intangible

Indie Film Research Paper
In the world of film making, female directors are rather scarce. It s easy to find a great actress,

Hobbes Writings Of Political And Moral Philosophy
Hobbes writings of political and moral philosophy remain some of the most influential and
important reference points in contemporary affairs. One drive in human nature, fear, is a central
theme in his works regarding political thought. His thesis works with ideas that order consists of
existing harmoniously through avoidance of both danger and the manipulating fear of civil
conflict, which can be achieved through our entire faith in single, unaccountable sovereignty of a
person or group. Firstly, Hobbes remains a key political philosopher because of his revolutionary
political and moral thought. Although innovative, some view his work as simplistic, assuming his
work is a form of reductionism in which basic being consists of primitive incentives or impulses to
reach consciously complex ideals. However, despite this view, he engages with an undeniable fact;
that human authority requires justification. A justified, adequate sovereign authority should
prioritise equality and rights for all people, safeguarding their basic interests. Hobbes may be
viewed as a progressive Machiavelli, based on the clear parallel between the attitude of Hobbes
and the earlier political thinker, emphasising the unforgiving realities of authority, power and
political emancipation. The secular way that Machiavelli viewed politics is reflected in Hobbes
work, as he sought to investigate how authority could be persuasive without manipulating
influences like religion. His work bases itself in reason

Resistance of Spot Welding on Galvanized Steel Sheet
Literature review starting with the research topic of the modeling and analysis of resistance spot
welding on galvanized steel sheet used in car body manufacturing.
In the process analysis of resistance spot welding on galvanized steel used in vehicle body
manufacturing, the quality of spot weld is checked from the tensile strength and shear strength
properties of the spot weld. The four important parameters in this analysis are:
a.Weld current
b.Weld time
c.Pressure
d.Hold time
These four factors determine the quality of weld. For the first stage of analysis, non linear
behavior of the process become one of the main problem. So the author proposed an Artificial
Neural Network (ANN). This Artificial Neural Network is capable of dealing and gives accurate
result for non linear systems. This research paper aims to give the proper solution to control the
process input parameters to make better spot weld joints with specified strength. In the second
stage of the research work, Genetic Algorithm with fitness function based on Artificial Neural
Network (ANN) model was used for determining a set of optimized process parameters.
At the end of research paper it is concluded that the analysis shows that there is a non linear
relationship between weld parameters and tensile shear strength properties of spot weld joints. The
proposed Artificial Neural Network was very much effective for modeling the non linear systems.
The analysis conducted by the use of Artificial

Unforgettable Character
As important as the plot, narrative, and cast are to a film, the audience s reaction to a film and its
characters is equally relevant. A stronger reaction or connection to a character, either positive or
negative, allows the character to leave a lasting impression on the audience, even if the film s plot
itself is not extraordinary or memorable. An unforgettable charactercan be the result of their
persona, actions, relationships with others, or the actors or actress performances. Mark, Harry, and
Ada are different characters from various films that elicit positive connections, negative
connections, or mixed emotional feelings in the audience. Through the use of archetypal personality
characteristics, non linear narratives, flashbacks, sweeping wide shots, intense dramatic scenes,
somber or sinister music, and powerfully compelling relationships with other characters, the
filmmakers create both strong positive and negative psychological and emotional connections with
the audience to the characters.

Jane Addams in Action Essay
Action is inherent in the tasks of a social activist. Ideas alone are not enough. Though the
development of philosophies and manifestos is the basis for every social movement and every
stride toward social justice, without social action and the social activist, little can ever be
accomplished. The great social activist must, by definition, be the great social action taker. Jane
Addamswas the epitome of such an action taker. Addams herself believed that ideas were not
enough. She was not satisfied to live a life of ideological morality. Instead, she felt that true moral
living could only be accomplished through action ( Dream 84). Embodying the very vision she
stood for, Addams put her convictions into action. Over the course of 46... Show more content on

In addition, John H. Addams was a personal acquaintance of Abraham Lincoln, whom young
Jane Addams idolized ( Dream 7). It is from her father that Addams seems to have developed a
sense that civic responsibility is innate in both the democratic and Christian mission. Upon his
death in 1881, when Addams was only 20 years old, she wrote of him, He was the
uncompromising enemy of wrong and of wrong doing. He was a leader as well as a safe and
fearless advocate in right things in public life (Davis 26). Addams life was also shaped by her
womanhood. As a member of one of the first generations of women to attend college, Addams
was confused and frustrated by the possible paths she could take in life. She was highly educated
and privileged but lacked any useful enterprise to pursue (Brown 213). Additionally, she believed
that, as a woman, she had a responsibility to her nurturing instinct (Davis 212). Though Addams
would be a passionate supporter of the women s suffrage movement, she was not a feminist as
they are understood today. Certainly, she believed that women should be the equals of men, but
she believed that their value to society came specifically from the ways in which they were
innately different from men. In her mind, the nature of women predisposed them to greater
awareness of and action against suffering, greater desire for social justice, and greater advocates
for peace. These influences, along with literary figures such as George Eliot,

Lovely Bones Analysis
Imagine having dreams, aspirations, goals, and hopes for yourself and the people around you, but
then having it all taken away. Imagine being a young adult and having to find a way to cope with
this while being lost in the in between. Imagine watching your family struggle, yet you are on the
sidelines, unable to help. This is a especially so in The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold. The story
follows the protagonist, Susie, who was raped and murdered by her neighbour. She goes to heaven
and watches her family grow up without her. Her deathsends a shock to her family and friends;
some taking the news easily, others having a harder time. Susie experiences several key moments
of realization that assists with her eventually coming of age, such as coping with the fact that she is
dead, watching her family suffer without her, and finally finding a way to reach her own happiness
and moulding her own path.
Susie lives in a world where she is beyond life and must quickly come to the realization that she
is no longer amongst the living and she must cope with this fact. People grow up by living, I
said to Franny. I want to live. That s out, she said to me. Can we at least watch the living? You
already do. (Sebold 19) She wants to have the opportunity to grow up like a normal girl, yet she
cannot because she is dead. Susie is not able to detach herself from her previous life. She misses
her family to the extent where she cannot purely accept her death. When the dead are

Case analysis of National Logistics Management.
In less than two decades National Logistics Management has already become one of the most
successful and fast growing logistics companies of the USA. Despite increasing competition in
logistics, NLM continues to adapt itself to the changing environment. Suffice to state just one
fact: two years in a row ( in 2004 and 2005 respectively) two reputable and well known magazines
Inc. magazine and Start magazine recognized NLM as one of the most innovative and fast growing
companies. Undoubtedly, the innovative strategy of providing cost effective way to facilitate and
expedite premium freight is behind the success of the company. However, will NLM be able to
maintain and enhance its profitable business in the new era of increased competition... Show more

By 1999 he had not developed full potential of his company; neither had he explored other
possibilities of the market, and he was concerned with the competition that he faced. In order to
enhance his business in the new decade of internet technologies he had to consider several options:
the merging of his company with other internet company (analogue of Ryder Systems Inc with
Toyota), more close cooperation with other manufactures that could provide identical services. He
also could combine the resources of the company with other logistics company that served similar
clients and wanted to improve and enhance its services in premium freight management. Another
option was to enter internet industry in order to become efficient B2B player.
Alternatives.
Several alternatives and possibilities are opened. One should consider and evaluate them. These
possibilities are following:
1) Merging with other manufacturers is one of the best alternatives providing this merging will
increase productivity and efficiency of the company.
2) Explore closer relationship with another transportation provider. This relationship must be based
on condition that NLM will still operate in the niche of premium freight services.
3) Increased cooperation with smaller shippers. In spite of the fact that dollar value of each
transaction will decrease and the number of transactions will have to be increased, the large group
of clients will reduce the negative impact of the factors

Poem And Similes And Annotation In Ode To Books
Ode to Books Annotation:
I used similes and metaphors such as open the cover like a curtain rising and darkness of night
slaughtering the night of day in order to make the poem more vivid and to completely express how
much I enjoy books and how much of an escape they are for me. I also repeated the word Books
with a capitalized B in order to emphasize the word and the idea that follows. My use of free verse
allows the poem to be read with a specific tone and rhythm.
This poem relates to my coming of age because I ve always been an avid reader. From when I
was little going through picture books, to elementary school starting to read simple chapter books,
and on to middle and high school where I can read more advanced books. Books ... Show more

I think that pushing myself to use similes and metaphors in Flightless and One Hundred taught me
to be more creative with my word choice. I also tend to unintentionally repeat the same verbs in
creative writing, so using vivid verbs in War Cries and A Matter of Preference led me to come up
with moe verbs to use in my writing. I also believe that writing poetry has allowed me to better
connect emotionally with my writing. All in all, I think that writing poetry has made me a better
writer in many ways, but I guess we ll see if that s true when I get my next essay grade. You may
not care, but I ll tell you how I do just to bug

Infraction Of Sops In The Film, Prince Of The City
Chris, you provided some interesting variations in regard to unethical behavior which would be
an infraction of SOPs. After doing a web search, it is apparent that sex on duty by law
enforcement officers and corrections officers is more prevalent than actually believed and is
definitely met with the code of silence. The movie Prince of the City (Daily, 1981) and the
documentary The Seven Five (Russell, 2014) were both based on extreme policecorruption in the
drug trade in New York City; similarly, informants were kept strung out on drugs and expected to
perform sex acts for officers and detectives. Additionally, officers kept the money in drug busts
for themselves. Furthermore, anyone who was a fan of the HBO series OZ (Dark, 2002) can
recall the sexual assault of inmates by corrections officers; add to this, in conducting a web search,
this type of behavior is confirmed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Law enforcement and substance abuse is a dangerous mix. Alcohol or narcotics are depressants
which delay reaction times which can lead to dependency; consequently, this could with certainty
impair an officer s response time and judgment which could make all the difference in a life or
death situation. Naturally, a drink or two socially with colleagues after a shift is acceptable;
however, consuming alcohol and drugs on duty is irresponsible. Law enforcement is held to a
higher standard; therefore, their actions send a message to the

Theme Of Relationships In Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men is a film which was produced in 1992 but set in 1937 during the Great
Depression in the United States. Spies (by Michael Frayn) was published in 2002 and mainly set
during World War II. George Milton and Lennie Small from Of Mice and Men are migrant
workers who travel around California looking for work. These characters are unusual because the
majority of migrant workers at this time were loners whereas these characters are best friends.
They are also so different from each other which also makes them unusual. Stephen Wheatley and
Keith Hayward from Spies also maintained a friendship, different to George and Lennie s. Stephen
feels as if Keith had total superiority but turned a blind eye to it. Stephen and Keith were
adolescent boys who spied on Keith s mother. Both texts explore the theme of relationship and
power, but in different ways. Of Mice and Men explores the theme of relationship through different
characters, but mainly through George and Lennie. Their friendship was unique as during the Great
Depression, it was rare to see ranch workers stick together and form friendships the way George
and Lennie had. Lennie was portrayed as a grown man with a childish mind, which was why he
was so dependent on George. This was a positive relationship in this text even though George
demanded Lennie around, it was for his own good. The different camera techniques in this text help
capture the essence of their relationship which include over the shoulder shots and

The Improvised Explosive Device ( Ied ) Essay Winston Churchill said, You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing after they have tried everything else .1 Three years after field commanders requested Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles the Pentagon approved the request and asked Congress to pay the bill.2 The defeat of Saddam Hussein by Coalition Forces created a growing insurgency in Iraq from the summer of 2003 through the surge of U.S. Forces in 2008. The improvised explosive device (IED), the insurgent s choice weapon, was responsible for 50 80% of U.S. deaths from 2005 through 2008.3 A CNN poll conducted in March 2003 showed 72% of Americans supported the war in Iraq and 3 years later only half that number, 36%, of Americans supported the war in Iraq.4 Public support for the war diminished as deaths increased while U.S. Forces conducted non kinetic operations focused on rebuilding Iraq. Also during this time, Congress began to ask the Pentagonwhy they could not defeat the IED threat. Despite mounting Congressional pressure, the Pentagon was not prepared to procure MRAPs under a normal acquisition process. Ultimately, Secretary Gates made the rapid acquisition of the MRAP his number one priority.5 This essay will highlight three factors that made the MRAP acquisition program different from a normal acquisition. • 8. Role Of Homeobox Geness Introduction The expression of homeobox (or HOX) genes is essential for the development of the normal embryo. These genes encode proteins that act as transcription factors called homeoproteins which regulate development of the embryo across the anterior posterior (AP) axis. Homeoproteins are the ultimate regulators of development; however mutations in the homeobox genes specifically HOXC10 are oncogenic (by gain of function mutations) and aid in the proliferation of certain cancer types and developmental disorders. Elucidation of HOXC10, its function in embryonic development at the molecular level, and characteristics shared among the function(s) of its paralogues should allow for better understanding of HOXC10 s role primarily... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In embryonic development spatial patterning along with HOX gene expression indicates the order of paralogues within the cluster according to 3 distinct aspects: (1.) spatial collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 which induces embryonic development along the AP axis; (2.) temporal collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 that coordinates HOX gene expression during development; and (3.) posterior prevalence HOX genes that reside closer to 5 areas of the cluster will possess a dominant phenotype compared to those that reside closer to 3 areas of the cluster. The nature of these aspects provides further insight into the complex nature of gene expression, regulation, and the basis of morphogenesis. Given that there are 4 paralogous clusters these actions of collinearity suggest some form of redundancy in HOX gene function (Shah, N paper). The role of HOXC10 in development: Homeodomain containing gene 10 (HOXC10) belongs to the HOXC gene cluster that resides on chromosome 12 (ACAMPORA_HUMAN HOX FAMILY). Expression of the gene leads to the production of a transcription factor that possesses a helix turn helix motif and functions as either a monomer or heterodimer containing a unique three amino acid loop extensions called TALE. TALE functions as a co factor and promotes embryonic development and tumorigenesis. Nonetheless common TALE domains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. How The Different Mixing Methods Affected The Final Volume... Figure one shows how the different mixing methods affected the final volume of the mayonnaise. It is expected that as the mixing methods gained speed and applied more shear force, the mayonnaise would have more volume. This was seen in the data. The biggest volume of mayonnaise achieved was done by a blender and by a homogenizer. The blender that yielded a low volume product was because the emulsionbroke, which explains why a large volume was not seen. The high speed homogenizer also had problems with the mayo, which explains their low volume yield. A mayonnaisemade with a lot of shear force is expected to have a greater volume because the higher the sheer force, the smaller the oil droplets would be. This means that there were smaller oil droplets which allowed more total droplets to be incorporated into the mayonnaise. More droplets leads to a higher volume because there is more surface area in the mixture of the internal and external phase. The emulsion also remained stable due to the smaller droplets, which will be looked at in detail later. Since the mayo was more stable, none of the emulsion broke during the time between preparing the mayonnaise for analysis and when it was actually analyzed. Overall, the results seen in figure one were generally expected. Figure two shows the effect of different mixing methods and their effect on various texture indicators of the mayonnaise. Before critiquing the article, it is necessary to discuss the anatomy and physiology of Rheumatoid Arthritis so you may have a better understanding of the disease and the possible treatments. Rheumatoid Arthritis is classified as an autoimmune disease; it is a chronic inflammatory disorder in which the immune system attacks the tissues of the synovial joints of the individual who is suffering from the disease (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). The attacks cause inflammation to the synovial joints; the onset of inflammation brings both pain and swelling to the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Inflammatory cells appear in the joint cavity of the synovial joint and release inflammatory chemicals that destroy the body tissue at the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). This confederate flag has been known and flown for many battles over the past century and a half, which was ever since the start of the Civil War in 1861. Some people today see this flag as a symbol of hatred and are willing to get rid of it by taking it down. On the other hand, some people see this flag as a symbol of American history and want to keep this flag flying for heritage. The real question is who is right and why? On July 10th, 2015 the confederate flag was finally taken down, along with the pole it flew on. After one hundred and fifty four years this flag will forever be gone. • 25. Physiology Of The Ear Introduction The ear is a combination of different organs and body parts that in conjunction allow us to hear. It is a sensitive piece of anatomy that can easily be abused, different frequencies at certain amplitudes through out our audible and inaudible ranges can slowly or very quickly damage our ability to perceive audio, even through something as simple as listening to your headphones mildly to loud. This damage can be present in many different forms each with variable extremities. Physiology of the Ear The ears previously mentioned are a collaboration of different very small and delicate organs and body parts. The first and most recognisable part of the ear is the only visible section, the Auricle, Pinna or outer ear, this works as the receptor for audio and works quite on the contrary to the horn of a gramophone, it s larger surface area allows for the capturing of sound waves and then funnels the vibrations in through the ear cannel to the other parts of the ear (Mackenna and Callander, 1997). The next piece of anatomy to receive the acquired sound waves is the tympanic membrane or the eardrum, this is stretched indirectly across the end of the ear canal, it operates as the main sound receptacle, when sound waves hit it s surface it vibrates, which then causes the ossicles; the combination of the malleus, stapes and the incus, located and attached to the eardrum transmits the sound to the vestibular window, two muscles then modulate the ... Introduction: Since World War II, trade between growing and manufacturing nations has strengthened and borrowing of poor countries from the rich countries has increased. The growing link between these two groups of economies increased eventually in addition to the increase in the rate of dependability amongst them. With the rapid growth in wealth and industrialization of the First World, only a few developing countries managed to have adequate economic growth on the line of the developed countries. One drive in human nature, fear, is a central theme in his works regarding political thought. His thesis works with ideas that order consists of existing harmoniously through avoidance of both danger and the manipulating fear of civil conflict, which can be achieved through our entire faith in single, unaccountable sovereignty of a person or group. Firstly, Hobbes remains a key political philosopher because of his revolutionary political and moral thought. Although innovative, some view his work as simplistic, assuming his work is a form of reductionism in which basic being consists of primitive incentives or impulses to reach consciously complex ideals. However, despite this view, he engages with an undeniable fact; that human authority requires justification. A justified, adequate sovereign authority should prioritise equality and rights for all people, safeguarding their basic interests. Hobbes may be viewed as a progressive Machiavelli, based on the clear parallel between the attitude of Hobbes and the earlier political thinker, emphasising the unforgiving realities of authority, power and political emancipation. The secular way that Machiavelli viewed politics is reflected in Hobbes work, as he sought to investigate how authority could be persuasive without manipulating influences like religion. In the process analysis of resistance spot welding on galvanized steel used in vehicle body manufacturing, the quality of spot weld is checked from the tensile strength and shear strength properties of the spot weld. The four important parameters in this analysis are: a.Weld current b.Weld time c.Pressure d.Hold time These four factors determine the quality of weld. For the first stage of analysis, non linear behavior of the process become one of the main problem. So the author proposed an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). This Artificial Neural Network is capable of dealing and gives accurate result for non linear systems. This research paper aims to give the proper solution to control the process input parameters to make better spot weld joints with specified strength. In the second stage of the research work, Genetic Algorithm with fitness function based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was used for determining a set of optimized process parameters. It is from her father that Addams seems to have developed a sense that civic responsibility is innate in both the democratic and Christian mission. Upon his death in 1881, when Addams was only 20 years old, she wrote of him, He was the uncompromising enemy of wrong and of wrong doing. He was a leader as well as a safe and fearless advocate in right things in public life (Davis 26). Addams life was also shaped by her womanhood. As a member of one of the first generations of women to attend college, Addams was confused and frustrated by the possible paths she could take in life. She was highly educated and privileged but lacked any useful enterprise to pursue (Brown 213). Suffice to state just one fact: two years in a row ( in 2004 and 2005 respectively) two reputable and well known magazines Inc. magazine and Start magazine recognized NLM as one of the most innovative and fast growing companies. This relationship must be based on condition that NLM will still operate in the niche of premium freight services. 3) Increased cooperation with smaller shippers. In spite of the fact that dollar value of each transaction will decrease and the number of transactions will have to be increased, the large group of clients will reduce the negative impact of the factors ... • 46. Poem And Similes And Annotation In Ode To Books Ode to Books Annotation: I used similes and metaphors such as open the cover like a curtain rising and darkness of night slaughtering the night of day in order to make the poem more vivid and to completely express how much I enjoy books and how much of an escape they are for me. I also repeated the word Books with a capitalized B in order to emphasize the word and the idea that follows. My use of free verse allows the poem to be read with a specific tone and rhythm. This poem relates to my coming of age because I ve always been an avid reader. From when I was little going through picture books, to elementary school starting to read simple chapter books, and on to middle and high school where I can read more advanced books. Books ... I also tend to unintentionally repeat the same verbs in creative writing, so using vivid verbs in War Cries and A Matter of Preference led me to come up with moe verbs to use in my writing. I also believe that writing poetry has allowed me to better connect emotionally with my writing. All in all, I think that writing poetry has made me a better writer in many ways, but I guess we ll see if that s true when I get my next essay grade. After doing a web search, it is apparent that sex on duty by law enforcement officers and corrections officers is more prevalent than actually believed and is definitely met with the code of silence. The movie Prince of the City (Daily, 1981) and the documentary The Seven Five (Russell, 2014) were both based on extreme policecorruption in the drug trade in New York City; similarly, informants were kept strung out on drugs and expected to perform sex acts for officers and detectives. Additionally, officers kept the money in drug busts for themselves. Furthermore, anyone who was a fan of the HBO series OZ (Dark, 2002) can recall the sexual assault of inmates by corrections officers; add to this, in conducting a web search, this type of behavior is confirmed.... • 48. Theme Of Relationships In Of Mice And Men Of Mice and Men is a film which was produced in 1992 but set in 1937 during the Great Depression in the United States. Spies (by Michael Frayn) was published in 2002 and mainly set during World War II. George Milton and Lennie Small from Of Mice and Men are migrant workers who travel around California looking for work. These characters are unusual because the majority of migrant workers at this time were loners whereas these characters are best friends. They are also so different from each other which also makes them unusual. Stephen Wheatley and Keith Hayward from Spies also maintained a friendship, different to George and Lennie s. Stephen feels as if Keith had total superiority but turned a blind eye to it. Stephen and Keith were adolescent boys who spied on Keith s mother. Both texts explore the theme of relationship and power, but in different ways. Of Mice and Men explores the theme of relationship through different characters, but mainly through George and Lennie. Their friendship was unique as during the Great Depression, it was rare to see ranch workers stick together and form friendships the way George and Lennie had. Lennie was portrayed as a grown man with a childish mind, which was why he was so dependent on George. This was a positive relationship in this text even though George demanded Lennie around, it was for his own good. The different camera techniques in this text help capture the essence of their relationship which include over the shoulder shots and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
