Midnight Without A Moon Analysis
Introduction
People often take for granted their right to vote. During civil rights African American men had a
hard time registering to vote and women all woman had no voting rights. In the historical fiction
novel, Midnight Without a Moon by Linda Williams Jackson, the main character Rose Lee Carter
is affected by black people being shot for registering to vote. One person that was shot was a
person named Levi Jackson who worked on her grandparents farm. African Americanmen had a
hard time registering to vote unlike white men in the civil rights era. In the story author altered and
used history to add drama and show people what used to happen when African American men
registered to vote or helped others register to vote.
Body Paragraph 1 Summary from the Book (Connected to Major Historical Event)
In the novel Midnight Without a Moon, the main character Rose Lee Carter is affected by the
murder of a boy named Levi Jackson. He worked on her grandparents farm and when he went to
register to vote on his 21st birthday and got shot. I had to finish up high school and head off
somewhere to college. Except Levi would never again set foot in a college, thanks to the fool
who put a bullet in his head. (p.83) Then there were more murders because people were
registering to vote and people where helping others register to vote. Colored people were being
killed for registering to vote in Mississippi and other places. A reverend named George W. Lee and
a man named Lamar Smith are

Caribbean Tuesday Character Analysis
Any day is a good day to visit the gang at Bears on Fairfield but Tuesdays are especially good.
Not only is it $2 Tuesday with wells, wines and assorted beer, it is also Caribbean Tuesdays with
the infamous Gordon Nurse cooking traditional island food and playing some island jams. If you
ve never met Gordon, you are indeed missing a treat. Character doesn t even begin to describe
him. You know how we all have that one family member that we love dearly, but at times, they
make us walk away mid sentence? That is Gordon! You will laugh, shake your head and walk

Gordon whips up some mean dishes in Bears kitchen. For Caribbean Tuesday, Gordon normally

Overview of the Natural Gas Industry
Natural Gas Industry Employee
Cover Letter
I am currently working as a natural gas regulator assistant inspector on a full time basis. Basically
this position required me to work in a formal apprenticeship, and I was trained and became
familiarized with all the important particulars of this job.
What my trainers made very clear to me is the importance of workers in the natural gas industry
having a deep understanding of all the implications relating to safety. There have been some
catastrophic explosions due to leaking gas pipelines in recent years, and energy companies want to
hire people that are very alert, intelligent, and who are willing to learn and be good listeners during
training and once on the job.
I am one of those quality employees. I feel fortunate to have this position, and moreover, I have
conducted research into the industry giving particular attention to the specifics of my own job,
duties and responsibilities and I present that information through this report. Learning well,
following directions, and being competent are things my family taught me, and I do believe I am
well suited for my position and will be able to climb the ladder and be given more responsibility
as time goes by and my supervisors become confident in my aptitude and my work ethic.
Abstract
The position of a natural gas regulator assistant inspector is a very important position because in
addition to the quality assurance and economic aspects, there are important safety aspects

Conformity In The American School System
As both the standards of school work and stress levels of student s rise, the American school system
remains unaltered, unchanged, and unaffected for over a hundred years. School is an institution
that can serve as a massive gate in life granting you access to a job, stability, and a future or it can
become a giant pillar in the way of everything you wish to achieve. While we recognize that a
student s own motivation, study habits, and will to learn, are cardinal in any schooling system, we
must also understand the issues with an institution that is fundamentally unsound from the ground
up. In today s world, students are shoved with the hands of docility, and amenability as they render
themselves in a system that has inadvertently failed them, by neglecting to celebrate their
differences, and varying learning patterns. Conformity in the educationsystem has shown to damage
the personalization and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the added pressure to do well in school, standardized testing becomes a means to added
stress, anxiety and further complicates the pressure to succeed in a student s life. Rather than a
focus on learning and understanding, school has become a massive rope skill memorization test
designed to have students memorize subjects to pass the test, and forget the material the next
minute for the next test. When asked to speak about standardized testing, education chairman,
Larry Taylor, said It s heart wrenching, and it s also insanity when you see the level of
achievement these kids are already doing and yet they can t even pass this test. (Smith). The
utilization of standardized testing further exemplifies and validates the idea that no matter how
hard or long you work in school, your work will never be worth the few answers you write for the

Did Archduke Franz Ferdinand s Assassination Caused World...
Assassination in World War I What really evoked World War I? There are many speculations on
this question and there is a wide variety of answers given; assassination, nationalism, militarism or
imperialism. The answer and reasoning to this type of question can differ from person to person,
although each of these contributed a lot in World War I
and the beginning of it. Apart from the
reasons all having plausible explanations for being the start, what tied them all together and kick
started the war itself? When I looked into this question, it seemed to me that the assassination of
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the immediate cause of World War I. For the past 50 years the
European states had tensions growing because all the empires were wanting

Lucid Dreaming Control
Dreaming is something that is experienced by everyone every single night. There is no living
person in this planet that never experienced dreaming, it s a very common thing that is even talked
about during the waking life. It s a matter of being able to remember it when you wake up or not.
Then, there is a method invented to explore the dreamingworld called lucid dreaming.
Lucid dreaming is the sensation of being able to realize that you are dreaming in a dream. Some
have the ability to control their dream, while others may take some time to be able to control it.
But it is completely possible to achieve lucid dreaming and make it as an experience that you will
never forget. You could do a lot of things in a dream because everything is possible

What Is The Juxtaposition Of Light And Dark
Dark and light, good and evil, joy and sadness, real and imaginary: these are the ideas that iconic
Belgian painter RenГ© Magritte, and other surrealist artists like him, strived to arouse in the minds
of their viewers. Magritte s work features supernatural, often unsettling images which play with the
imagination and confuse the mind. As part of the surrealist movement, Magritte s purpose behind
his paintings was to intrigue people, make them think about the subconscious mind, and to blur
the lines between reality and dreams. In his famous painting, L Empire des lumiГЁres, or The
Empire of Light, a bright, blue, daytime sky full of white clouds appears over a darkened street, a
lonely house, and a thick cover of trees, all shown to be under the... Show more content on

The juxtaposition of light and dark in The Empire of Light may represent the contrast of
everyday elements and ideas present in the world around us. As explained by Michael Glover,
night and day are present simultaneously. This is unnerving, the simultaneity of daylight and
darkness. It disturbs us visually and morally. Can light co habit with darkness, good with evil?
Well, yes, man is such a patchwork creature of light and dark, the will to do good, the propensity
to choose evil (Glover, para. 3). At first the main effect this painting has on the observer is
confusion; night and day cannot exist together in the same place at the same time, after all.
After observing it in more detail, though, many symbols and themes begin to arise. Considering
the contrast between light values used, the day and night in this image could represent the
clichГ© symbols of good and evil, or joy and sadness, respectively. Just as both times of day are
present in this painting, so are these emotions and traits present in everyday life; they exist
always and everywhere. By analyzing not only the painting itself, but the title as well, this theme
becomes more apparent. Several versions of its title exist due to translation issues, and many
refer to this piece as The Dominion of Light instead. This could mean that the light portrayed in
this painting is dominating the darkness, because of its placement above the shadow, and, in fact,
it is showing the dominion of light over darkness or purity over corruption. This piece shows the
power that good has over evil, or that joy has over sadness, while portraying both of the latter as
an impenetrable veil of darkness and the former as the bright clarity of the sky. The use of light
sources and contrast between value in The Empire of Light contributes to this theme of light and
dark, purity and wickedness, or joy and sadness. This interpretation also

Usually, most payday loan companies provide a cost breakdown per 100 dollar increments that
coincide with the rate.
Furthermore, most payday loan fees are based on the duration of the cash advance. The standard
APR for most companies falls into the 400 percent range. As an example, suppose you were to
borrow $100 at a fee of $20 for a 2 week period and if you did not pay if for a year, your service
charge would be $520 for a 520% APR. To which you need to remember to add the original $100
that you borrowed.
There may be a situation where you are unable to repay the full amount of the cash advance to the
payday loans company. In such a situation, the payday loans company generally charges the
payday loans finance fee and defers the principal payment over a longer period of time, usually
another 14 days.

There are several hidden costs in a payday loan! Remember, if you are unable to pay this cash
advance and you happen to lose your job, the clock does not stop. If you default on the cash
advance, which includes the principal plus interest, the payday loan company will reclaim the entire

during, and after the production of his first Broadway musical, West Side Story. Sondheim, rather
young compared to his counterparts, was asked by Leonard Bernstein to co write lyrics for his
new musical version of Romeo and Juliet. Sondheim was very reluctant to jump on board because
he did not view himself as merely a lyricist, but a composer. His music was not esteemed by many,
but Arthur Laurents and Bernstein greatly cherished his lyrics. Sondheim was a natural wordsmith

Chapter five of Crispin Sartwell’s †Six Names of

Chapter five of Crispin Sartwell s Six Names of Beauty discuss the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi
sabi. Sartwell begins the chapter by describing a harmonica that he started playing at the age of
fourteen. During the recount, which included a detailed description of an old CD, Sartwell
shows an evident appreciation for the aged item and it s imperfection. The damage on its surface
its crackles and skips traces my intense relation to it, and gives it a kind of old time sounding
authenticity. His description of an old blues CD and the evident appreciation for the crackles and
skips , is essentially wabi sabi. But before explaining one of the most important aesthetic principle
in Japanese aesthetics, Sartwell describes the language as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An appreciation of wabi is an affirmation of the world and a certain sort of refusal of its
transformation for declaration. As an aesthetic, it s a a way of seeing imperfection as itself
embodying beauty.
Sabi, meaning loneliness , refers to the solitude as both a state of aloneness in persons and a s a
spareness of objects. It can also be considered as a subjective state that is appropriate to the
experience of wabiL a kind of desolation or meditative depression that can be sweet. Sabi is a
quality of stillness and solitude, a melancholy that is one of the basic human responses to and
sources of beauty,
Wabi sabi is an aesthetic of poverty and loneliness, imperfection and austerity, affirmation and
melancholy. It is the beauty of the withered, weathered, tarnished, scarred, intimate, coarse,
earthly, evanescent, tentative, ephemeral. It is a broken earthenware in contrast to a Ming vase,
a branch of autumn leaves to a dozen roses, a lined and bent old woman in contrast to a model, a
mature love as opposed to an infatuation, a bare wall with peeling paint in contrast to a wall hung
with beautiful paintings. It is also a trap. Wabi sabi is an ever intensifying consciousness of the
need to a lapse of consciousness, an ever broadening elation of the ordinary in which the ordinary
loses its ordinariness. It is a form of beauty that overcomes the differences of beauty and ugliness,
even as it overcomes the differences of ordinary and extraordinary. The

Canadian Tire Canadian Tire was first started in 1922, my brothers AJ and JW Billes in a Toronto
garage bought for $1800. A brief example of the chains endurance through time, is when they had
tried to open their own chain of gas stations in Canada back in the 1950 s. When oil companies had
cut off their supply, Canadian Tire bought sixty million gallons of gas from the USSR during the
peak of the Cold War. Another issue was during the 90 s when internal affairs between head
office and dealers, lead to product shortages and the nickname Crappy Tire (Holloway). Today,

between dealers and head office, and the threat of US big brands expanding into Canada.
Canadian Tire had poor ownership structure, where dealers own 20% of stock, inventory and

taking polls of their shoppers they had been able to agree on a few things. According to Olive,
they learned that customers wanted lower prices, greater assortment, an end to out of stock

company into an agenda setter (Silcoff). At first, it had been simple changes like properly lighting

sports and leisure, auto parts and home products (Silcoff). Furthermore, in order to

Night Reflection Essay
At the beginning of Night, Elie describes himself as someone who believes profoundly. But his
experiences at Auschwitz have changed this belief substantially. He has seen people killed, tortured,
separated from their families, and thrown into crematoriums as if they were nothing. During a time
when Elie s faith was strong, he thought, Why did I pray? Strange question. Why did I live? Why
did I breathe? ( page 4) Elie thought this after Moishe the beadle asked him why he prayed. At
this point in Elie s story his faith was strong. Being the son of man who believed so strongly in the

Elie didn t know the answer to Moishe s question, he didn t know why he prayed it could be

The thought of not knowing why he prayed troubled Elie. But as he moved on he saw Moishe
often, and Moishe often explained to him to the importance of praying and how questions have

After Elie arrived at Birkenau he saw people being brutally killed and felt mad he said, For the

Analysis Of The Beet Queen By Louise Erdich
In Louise Erdich s novel, The Beet Queen, Erdich portrays how two children are affected by the
new environment where they moved to. Erdich is able to show that the environment is able to
produce a confusion of feelings in the children by depicting the environment in which they live as
both cold and inviting. Erdich starts the passage by noting how an addition and subtraction entered
the town by train, which a nice foreshadowing of Karl leaving the town. Erdich writes that it was
so cold that their lips were violet and their feet were so numb. These images show that this
environment is an uninviting one which actually hinders their abilities. Not only is the environment
physically cold, but also emotionally. As mary looks out on the town, all she could see is more

The use of a third person narrator add the emphasis of the coldness to the place. As the third

watery wind on mary, there is no sense of sympathy. While most would feel sorry for the young
girl, the speaker as able to describe her misfortunes with a lack of care. As the children get
farther into town, they see the weathered or peeling gray facades of the houses. These images of
the dreary facades add to the idea of coldness of the town because they are so bleak. Through the
use of imagery, diction, and point of view, Erdich is able to demonstrate how cold and lifeless the
town is. Erdich also is able to portray the town as an inviting place. She writes that the topsoil...hadn
t all blown off yet, and that times were generally much better in, the town than in other places. This
image of the land being more fertile here than elsewhere contrasts the idea that the environment is
cold and desolate.

Paul Bogard Let There Be Dark Summary
In a world of ever growing developments, the blight of artificial lights is conquering the
darkness of the night. To some, the fading darkness presents a major catastrophe towards human
health, the ecosystem, and culture in general. One of these people is Paul Bogard. In his article,
let there be dark, Bogard cleverly utilized devices such as statistics, imagery, and research
findings across the world to illustrate that the removal of darkness from our nights only causes
severe problems. Bogard first introduced the topic with a personal anecdote that described his
experiences with darkness as a child. Imagery such as hands disappeared before my eyes and
meteors left smoky trails evoked nostalgia among the readers. Suddenly, Bogard transitions from
the romantic descriptions of the past night sky to cold hard statistics of the current generation.
Statistics indicates that only 2/10 children in the US will know a sky dark enough for the Milky
Way, brining awareness to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bogard first discusses the World Health Organization and the American Medical Association s
consensus on the health disorders caused by the lack of darkness. Diseases ranging from minor
ailments such as sleep disorders to severe chronic issues such as diabetes, heart disease, and even
cancer all root from the lack of darkness. Not only does the lack of darkness has taken a toll on
some people s health, but the reduction has caused ecological collapse in parts of the world.
Bogard clearly presents the point that many animal and plant species rely on the darkness of the
night to perform their role in the ecosystem. Ecological functions such as pollination and pest
control would simply collapse under light pollution, the bulldozer of the night. Bogard presented
such dire consequences to reestablish his point about the removal of

Influential Religious Figures
Influential Religious Figures
Influence is the process of producing effects on the actions, behavior, and opinions of another or
others. Influence plays a major role in world religion, as it is present through the activity of key
figures. History has shown that certain religious figures have influenced the creation of three major
religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. These three figures are Jesus Christ, Moses and
Muhammad. These figures have gained many followers worldwide by just simply spreading the
word of their respected God. A follower is a person who follows another in regard to his or her
ideas or belief. Through the holy acts of Jesus Christ, Moses, and Muhammad, each figure is
looked upon highly in their respected religions. The nature of Jesus was filled with humanity and
divinity, made him an outstanding figure in the Christian society. Followers of Christianity
believe that Jesus was sent here to Earth to serve, not to be served. What differs Jesus Christ
from Moses and Muhammad is that, he was not just a prophet he was the Son of God. Jesus
explained about God and his fathering abilities and made it clear to society that every man was a
child of God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also evident that the three figures have some common characteristics. Moses, like
Muhammad is the author of the Torah books, whereas Muhammad is the author of many Moslem
scriptures. Both of them influence the society through writing down their ideas. They also claim
to be inspired by their God who used them to pass on messages. Jesus and Muhammad spread
their belief through preaching and teaching and asked followers to continue spreading the word of
their God. All three figures have left an impact in their respected religions. Jesus asked people to
love one another and by doing this, they would be closer to God. Moses

Nuclear Technology And Its Impact On The Atomic Age
On August 6th and 9th, 1945 the first atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Japan. With the use of these new weapons a door was opened that could never be closed, a new
and uncertain era was now upon the world, and the use of atomic power could mean the betterment
or destruction of a nation at a moment s notice. Whether you like it or not, you live in the atomic
age and it can have many implications that you may or may not know about. The Manhattan Project
is well known to have developed the first two atomic bombs, fat man, and little boy, but nuclear
technology was being researched many years before this. Uraniumwas first found in 1789 by Martin
Klaproth, and was discovered to have ionizing radiation in 1895 by Wilhelm Rontgen (Outline
History of Nuclear Energy). More and more information on uranium and other materials were being
discovered, such as: radioactive materials emitting alpha particles in 1896 by Henri Becquerel, in
1902 the discovery of radiation being a spontaneous event by Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr and his
increased understanding of the atom, in 1932 when James Chadwick discovered the neutron, etc.
Other nations also spent resources on developing nuclear technology such as in Russia with their
Radium Institute of Leningrad FTI, but was hampered with Stalin s purges that eliminated
prominent scientists working there; British scientists developed the concept of the atomic bomb

Community Of Practice Essay
The main difference between Labov s Speech Community and Ekert s Community of Practice is
that the Community of Practice is defined by more than the linguistics codes that are being used. It
is focused on the concept of doing valuable actions that will embrace the community. In order to be
part of a Community of Practice , one should have more than a choice of a language; all
characteristics of involvement in a group are of an importance. In addition, Community of Practice
is focused on the individual and the distinctive views of the different members of the community,

Describe the 3 types of membership within a CoP (Wenger, 1998) giving one example of each
from your own personal experience. The three types of membership within a Community of
Practice are full participation, peripheral participation and marginal participation. A full
participant is the one that participates in the practices of the community. For example, when a
participant is part of a group project in college, and does all the assignments, attends the
meetings and collaborates well with the other participants, this student is a full participant in his

sometimes can be seen as a process of learning. For example, when a person is in a process of
learning how to swim, he first watches how it is done and then tries to do it. Thus, he becomes
partial participant. The marginal participation differs from the peripheral participation by the
access in the community. The marginal participant is somewhat sidelined from the process. For
example, when a group of friends are planning to go out to a club, only the ones that have 21 can
go, due to the restrictions of age. The ones that are under 21 are marginalized from

C. Wright Mills s The Power Elite
Certain changes, which defy many of the fondest beliefs, have taken place in the American society.
People have retransformed from an independent thinking public into a mass society manipulated by
commanders of unequaled powers. Sociologist C. Wright Mills carefully documented this
phenomenon in his book entitled The Power Elite, opening the debate with a meaningful sentence:
The powers of ordinary men are circumscribed by the everyday worlds in which they live, yet even
in these rounds of job, family and neighborhood they often seem driven by forces they can neither
understand nor govern .
What does Power Elite mean?
The Power Elite is a critical study of the American power structure, in which Mills argued that a
single elite (the ruler) decides for the nation as a whole, leaving minor decisions for the middle
level person to handle and almost nothing for the common ones (the ruled). His theory suggests that
power in the U.S. is concentrated in the hand of a close knit group whose member s observations is
conducted around 1960.
This elite is not an aristocracy argued Mills. It is not a political ruling group based upon a
nobility of hereditary origin. There is no obvious compact basis in a small circle of great families
whose members can and do consistently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sports Injuries And Stereotyping
Summer is the perfect time of year for you to get outside and enjoy your favorite sport; but
summer may also be the time of year you re most likely going to need the help of an orthopedic
specialist Frisco TX. Why? Because exercising and playing sports often leads to injuries that
require medical help. Poor training, not stretching or warming up properly, incorrect gear and
sometimes just plain bad luck can lead to sprains, strains, swollen muscles, fractures and
dislocations.

I Think Tuck Everlasting, By Natalie Babbitt
Is living forever a good thing, or a bad thing? I think Tuck Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt, has
many messages in it, and can definitely influence people. However, could a book influence
decisions in life? How about your life? This book can change the way you think about some
things. Decisions for school, life, your family, etc. Winnie was faced with a difficult decision,
many, actually. The biggest one would probably be whether to drink the springwater or not. Would
you drink something like that, even if it meant that you could never die, and you had to live forever?
Winnie didn t completely believe the story about the springwater. In the end of the book, you can
somewhat infer that she did, even if it was just a little. She did believe that the springwater could
really make you live forever, and yet she still didn t drink it. I believe that she made the right
decision not to drink the springwater. Before I read this book, I thought that I would want to live
forever, but now I see that I wouldn t want to drink the springwater. Seeing how Angus Tuck had
felt about living forever, I realized that living forever may not be all that great after all, you
wouldn t even get to experience the rest of life, or even know what happens as you get older. I
would have made this choice differently. I would have definitely done what Winnie did, give the
water up, and not drink it. If I were to compare myself to some of the characters, I might be most
like Winnie. If I

The Inscrutable Perish Of Edgar Allan Poe
The Inscrutable Perish of Edgar Allan Poe As he did continuously in his writing, Poe has left us
with yet another mystery: the cause of his death. This conundrum has tormented scholars for
decades. Was it rabies, meningitis, or even a brain lesion? Edgar Allan Poe s cause of death was
never official. His physician listed it as congestion of the brain on his deathcertificate, yet there was
no way of knowing, especially since there was no autopsy performed. Many scholars do not agree
with the physician s diagnosis. Oddly, most of these scholars believe that Poe died as a result of
rabies. Many other theories have been suggested such as a heart condition, meningitis, and diabetes.

Key Avant-Garde Movements Of The Twentieth Century
Key avant garde movements, including Suprematism, Constructivism and Futurism, influenced
contemporary political graphics of the twentieth century. Particularly focusing on political and
propaganda posters of the Soviet Union it is evident they were influenced by avant garde
movements that were developing in neighboring and western countries during the same period.
Suprematism, focusing on basic geometric shapes with a limited range of colours is evident in
numerous propaganda posters in Russiaat the beginning of the twentieth century. Constructivism,
developing from Russian Futurism is aimed to create works that would make the viewer an active
viewer. Futurism also influences the posters in a way that allows them to illustrate futuristic and
abstract things as well as many posters containing qualities of cubism. Being influenced by these
movements it gave the Russian government a way to show they weren t old fashioned and were
able to keep updated with the developing countries around them.
Futurism is the most important Italian avant garde movements of the twentieth century. Celebrating
the advanced technology and urban modernity the world was quickly developing, futurism aimed to
demonstrate the beauty of the machine, speed, violence and change. It allowed artists and designers

Effects Of The Media On Society
Chapter 3: Effects of the Media Though war contributed to changes in society, the media was the
driving factor behind changes including the fixation with beauty among women. Magazines had the
ability to perpetuate the already emerging ideals. The idea of self improvement became a very
popular topic in the 1920s seen across all women s magazines, contributing to the progression from
the middle class women to the New Woman. This New Woman was one of beauty and fun with
admiration and lasting popularity as stated in International Women s News magazine, promoting
fragrances that made such claims. The emergence of products and methods to attain the arising
beauty standards fared well in combination with advertisingthat enforced fears and vanity
associated with such.
Change in Beauty Standards: Topic sentence? Products such as reducing belts and slimming baths
were advertised to reduce body weight. With more leisure time after production and integration of
automated machines (is this supporting opposition?) books and magazines were in every
household. The best seller diet book written by Dr. Lulu Hunt Peter, Diet and Health, the Key to
Calories, was popularized as the body image of women was brought to the forefront of their minds.

Introduction In the high desert mountains of Eastern border California there are slopes and

Mono, or Monoache known in Western Mono are of the Numic family of the Uto Aztecan
language. The Uto Aztecan is one of the largest, most diverse American language families, also
known as a super family, ranging past Southern California and the Great Basin to include
languages from the Great Plains to Central America. In the Western Numic region it spreads
North from Owens Valley through Western Nevada to Eastern Oregon and Southern Idaho. The
Mono dialect of the Owens valley area forms a dense confined group regarding the widespread

The Mono language is similar to the ones used by many other Native American nations and having

Universal Medical Codes
In the health care system, there are a lot of codes that help diagnose, treat, and discharge patients
daily. Codes help nurses
especially make reports faster along with making them easier to read for individuals within the HIS
department. For a universal set of

an individual that was out of town, got
injured and then wanted your care while you were out of town to be documented through medical
records. Medical records at the town

Why is a universal code manual supposed to be used around the world? Simple, so your care is
properly documented and can be billed to you in the correct manner. Also, another use for medical
codes is to protect yourself from false

everything else follow correctly, you would be
covered if your documents got tested by someone higher than you or another hospital perhaps. Good
documentation provides a safety

Summary Of Kitchen By Banana Yoshimoto
In the novel Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, Yoshimoto demonstrates that family is important when
coping with the difficulties of life. Yoshimoto shows this through the usage of the contrast of light
and dark, and the motifs of the kitchen, and food. One motif that used is food, which is used to
represent the presence of family, and how that aides coping. Yoshimoto uses the motif of the kitchen
to represent the ability of the family to help another family member cope. Yoshimoto uses the
contrast of lightand dark to show that as the characters shift from feeling grief to joy, people who
can be considered family are involved. Yoshimoto uses the motifs of food and the kitchen along
with the contrast between dark and light to show that family is important when coping with the
troubles of life.
Yoshimoto uses the motif of food to show that family can help cope with life s troubles. One
example of food representing family helping to cope, is when Mikage creates an international

Mackenzie and Ed Kiernan talks about how one of the richest men in Iceland, Kristjan Loftsson
owns the only commercial fin whaling company in the world. I believe there is room for both
whale hunting and whale watching as long as whalehunting is kept limited. There should be a
tracking system where each company should be given the annual quota and if they go over,
penalize them with a charge. Whale watching is important because as Masson from the article

Kristjan Loftsson might lose some profit on the year but at least no one will be against them if
they do not over hunt the whales. As Kristjan Loftsson believes the world has wrongly turned

The Long Brush Analysis
The Long Crush is an essay about the game of disc golf. The writer started the essay by pointing
out the differences between the games of disc golf, Frisbee golf, and ultimate Frisbee. He writes
about how a Frisbee is only capable of doing small amounts of damage when a golf disc could, in
his opinion, kill someone. The writer then talks about how the gamecan be played anywhere at any
time. After talking about what conditions he plays in, and how well he can throw the disc, he then
talks about how, in comparison to other sports, disc golf is easier to understand and is not as
expensive. The writer then gets in depth about how the game brings out a geekish side of him that
causes him to buy several related items for his profession.

Banana- Musa Paradisiaca
Banana (Musa paradisiaca)
How it can be grown at home:
Basically, from personal experience, Bananas are one of the easiest plants to grow.
Most of the homes in Brunei have Banana plants grown in their backyard.
They can grow even without any proper care for example like my banana trees in my home which
grew by themselves.
However since they are not being properly taken care of, they rarely bare fruits. Bananas can be
grown like any other plant. They require good soil, sunlight and nutrients.
However Banana plants also need special care in order to grow healthy. Avoid using infected
suckers to grow new banana trees.
Feed the plants with plenty of fertilizers every month as they are nutritious plants. They will require
sufficient fertilizers to produce all the nutrients.
They are usually propagated vegetatively by division. Their suckers or pups that rise from the base
of the main stem or from underground corm are removed and plant them to make new banana trees.
Another propagation method is by tissue culture where the plantlets are produced in a laboratory.
This is the best method and cost effective to produce good quality bananas.

Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break is an extremely tear jerking poem. The story begins and ends in
a very depressing manner, while in between we are treated to a very vivid and blunt view of life
and how it can all come to an abrupt end. While Mid Term Breakdoes use death to grab at the
reader s heart strings, the story is most likely a description of life in Heaney s native Northern
Ireland, not Heaney s life, but a very general view of life in Northern Ireland, how it can all come

It could be interpreted that this is a representation of those leaders who lead the rebellion. Those
who send others to the front, then when one of their own goes down to attack, pull back
somewhat and deal with their loss, rather than continue to lend that same support to the cause.
Heaney s mother coughing out angry tearless sighs, (Heaney 13) speaks as a sort of anger in those
around who feel this is more of a setback to the rebellion, rather than losses that will affect families.
Lines 14 15 again shows Heaney using assonance, this time in his repetition of the short a . At ,
ambulance , arrived , stanched , and , and bandaged (Heaney 14 15) this emphasizes the stopping
short of blood and life. This death , is a very heart wrenching description of the prospect of their
cause coming to an end with every wave of casualties, not so much about death of those serving, but
death of the cause.
In the sixth stanza, Heaney tells us, the reader, that he hadn t seen his brother for six weeks,
having been away at school (Heaney 18). This could represent a sort of drift into personal loss,
perhaps a loved one lost in conflict, but most likely it is more of a vague insight to, perhaps, a
specific excursion in which several people left to encounter the opposing force and those survivors
are just now returning. Given the mood of the piece, the survivors are badly beaten and wounded,
adding to the despair felt throughout the work. The

The Relationship Between Stress And Social Support
This is an experimental study and it discusses the relationship between stress and social support
and what kind of social support is essential during stress. The purpose of this study was to examine
the correlation between stress and social support by using PSS (Perceived Stress Scale and MOS
Social Support Survey). Simply handling out the questionnaires of stress and social support
commences the study to 105 individuals aged between 18 75, after the completion of questionnaire
researcher undergoes his further findings. The collected information was then investigated,
illustrative measurements were utilized to translate and assess prevalence of stress, and social
support. Correlation investigation was utilized in the examination of the relationship between stress

Abstract
The main purpose for this research is to explicit what effect humans have had and will have on the
blue fin tuna. The Atlantic bluefin tuna is one of the largest, fastest, and most gorgeously colored of
all the world s fishes. The blue fin tuna unfortunately however, has been facing a constant and
dramatic decline in their species. With overfishing, their numbers have dropped down to critically

The bluefin population has declined at a steady rate for several years and despite some measures
being taken to manage the population in the Atlantic, it still remains to be excessively hunted. The
species is prized by both wealthy sushi consumers due to its rich, fatty flesh and by fishermen who
can sell a single catch for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Currently, this combination has
brought the species to the brink of extinction, with environmentalists claiming the species has no
chance to recover if existing fishing practices are allowed to continue. The issue of the declining
bluefin population is not simply the dismissal of catch limits, but also the ways in which fish are
caught. One of the most wasteful fishing techniques is the use of surface longlines. These lines
reach up to forty miles in length with baited hooks attached along the lines. The lines are deployed
in spawning areas where hundreds of bluefin are caught along with other non target species every
year. Conservationist groups have encouraged the National Marine Fisheries Service to ban the use
of longlines in the Gulf during spawning season to give stocks time to recover. In addition to
longlines, purse seining is another wasteful, yet commonly used, fishing technique. This involves

For that reason alone is a great reason as to why all business schools should build a strong
internship program.
An internship is no good if you do not make it work. Thus making the internship work for you is
very important. To start out the student must want to direct their full attention to the internship
because the internship is pretty much starting out their future. First impressions are usually suppose
to be good so a student should not go into an internship thinking that it is going to be easy and that
they can just blow through it. Internships should be beneficial for the students and the employer s.
The internship program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the
companies in which they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the
firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do.
Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out
when there are positive people surrounding the student intern. For an internship to work, the firm s
principals must be available to supervise and teach. (Berger 30) The student intern will usually
have lots of questions and if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions
and correct their mistakes then the internship will be quite beneficial.
There are legal concerns that come along with internships that the

touched and changed the life of the common man, but it has revolutionized the business, medical,
production and communication sector of the work world. Through taking risks, and believing in

Within this environment it is essential for entrepreneurs to be innovative and prepared. Having a
strong willed attitude allows an entrepreneur to build on their business strategies because their
mind is not deterred from what they want to accomplish. The element of success behind Gates
strategy of being strong willed is definitely due to his personal character. When Gates first
developed Microsoft he was determined to get his company to the top of the technological
industry. Dear Love stated in his book His competitive spirit and personal drive to succeed was
legendary (Dear Love, 89). This exemplifies how Bill Gates truly did have the drive to complete
tasks at hand, and this was all apart of who he was as a person. Having a strong willed attitude is
an essential step to becoming successful in whatever you wish to pursue, just as Bill Gates has
displayed in his many years of success. Overall, Gates being head strong and confident about his
software is definitely what allowed him to rise to the top. He believed in his product, which made
everyone else believe in it too.
Determination is a key element to the strategy of anyone who wants to become successful. If you
are not determined to succeed you are less likely to do so. Bill Gates was always determined to
make his software company into the huge corporation it is now. Dear Love in his book writes,

Oligopoly Market Structure
Oligopoly Oligopoly is a market structure in which the number of sellers is small. Oligopoly
requires strategic thinking, unlike perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition.
Under perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition, a seller faces a well defined
demand curve for its output, and should choose the quantity where MR=MC. The seller does not
worry about how other sellers will react, because either the seller is negligibly small, or already a
monopoly. Under oligopoly, a seller is big enough to affect the market. You must respond to your
rivals choices, but your rivals are responding to your choices.
In oligopoly markets, there is a tension between cooperation and self interest. If all the ... Show

Jack does not care that Jill s output is sold at a lower price.
The price effect is smaller for duopoly than monopoly, and the quantity effect favors more output
whenever price is above marginal cost. Therefore, the Nash equilibrium price will be closer to
marginal cost than the monopoly price. The more firms in the oligopoly, the smaller the price
effect will be, and the lower the Nash equilibrium price. When the number of firms approaches
infinity, the price effect approaches zero. Therefore, each seller will increase output whenever the
price is above marginal cost. In the limit, we have the perfectly competitive price, and the socially
efficient quantity.
A Brief Introduction to Game Theory Game Theory can be used to study oligopoly games other
than the quantity competition game played by Jack and Jill, as well as arms races, voting
games, bargaining games, and so on. A Game is defined to be: A set of players A set of possible
strategies for each player, A payoff or outcome function that assigns payoffs to each player for each
combination of strategies (one strategy for each player).

Why I Chose A Nurse For The Interview Process Of Oral History
I am currently in my senior year; I am about to graduate with a bachelor s in nursing next
semester and I am feeling anxious about what the real world is all about. I am not worried about
my skills, expertise, certifications or the demands of registered nurses. I am very concerned
about the high and low points of nursing, which is why I chose a nurse for the interview process
of oral history. In my perspective, nursing is caring. Nurses help patients attain their best
possible health goals. Oral history draws a picture about the working life of nurses through
revealing what nurses see as important, providing an idea about the roles of a nurse, showcasing
how nurses cope with the most stressful experiences and aiding nursing students with role
transition. In this project I also tackle my interview process and possible factors why it is
shortened. First, nurses are legally liable to abide by patient privacy making it difficult to penetrate
their experiences with patients. As a result, Kiki could not elaborate. Other factors to consider are
the teacher student relationship and the formality of a recorded interview, which could alter the
conversational atmosphere. Moreover, the lack of interviewees affects the accuracy of oral history
as a research methodology. These issues, however, may be resolved by interviewing respondents
with various backgrounds to represent a group. In addition, critiquing the interview helps draw
meanings that impacts validity and accuracy. I was eager

While we recognize that a student s own motivation, study habits, and will to learn, are cardinal in any schooling system, we must also understand the issues with an institution that is fundamentally unsound from the ground up. In today s world, students are shoved with the hands of docility, and amenability as they render themselves in a system that has inadvertently failed them, by neglecting to celebrate their differences, and varying learning patterns. Conformity in the educationsystem has shown to damage the personalization and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the added pressure to do well in school, standardized testing becomes a means to added stress, anxiety and further complicates the pressure to succeed in a student s life. Rather than a focus on learning and understanding, school has become a massive rope skill memorization test designed to have students memorize subjects to pass the test, and forget the material the next minute for the next test. There are many speculations on this question and there is a wide variety of answers given; assassination, nationalism, militarism or imperialism. The answer and reasoning to this type of question can differ from person to person, although each of these contributed a lot in World War I and the beginning of it. Apart from the reasons all having plausible explanations for being the start, what tied them all together and kick started the war itself? What Is The Juxtaposition Of Light And Dark Dark and light, good and evil, joy and sadness, real and imaginary: these are the ideas that iconic Belgian painter RenГ© Magritte, and other surrealist artists like him, strived to arouse in the minds of their viewers. Magritte s work features supernatural, often unsettling images which play with the imagination and confuse the mind. As part of the surrealist movement, Magritte s purpose behind his paintings was to intrigue people, make them think about the subconscious mind, and to blur the lines between reality and dreams. In his famous painting, L Empire des lumiГЁres, or The Empire of Light, a bright, blue, daytime sky full of white clouds appears over a darkened street, a lonely house, and a thick cover of trees, all shown to be under the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The juxtaposition of light and dark in The Empire of Light may represent the contrast of everyday elements and ideas present in the world around us. As explained by Michael Glover, night and day are present simultaneously. This is unnerving, the simultaneity of daylight and darkness. It disturbs us visually and morally. Can light co habit with darkness, good with evil? Well, yes, man is such a patchwork creature of light and dark, the will to do good, the propensity to choose evil (Glover, para. 3). At first the main effect this painting has on the observer is confusion; night and day cannot exist together in the same place at the same time, after all. After observing it in more detail, though, many symbols and themes begin to arise. Considering the contrast between light values used, the day and night in this image could represent the clichГ© symbols of good and evil, or joy and sadness, respectively. Just as both times of day are present in this painting, so are these emotions and traits present in everyday life; they exist always and everywhere. By analyzing not only the painting itself, but the title as well, this theme becomes more apparent. Several versions of its title exist due to translation issues, and many refer to this piece as The Dominion of Light instead. This could mean that the light portrayed in this painting is dominating the darkness, because of its placement above the shadow, and, in fact, it is showing the dominion of light over darkness or purity over corruption. This piece shows the power that good has over evil, or that joy has over sadness, while portraying both of the latter as an impenetrable veil of darkness and the former as the bright clarity of the sky. The use of light sources and contrast between value in The Empire of Light contributes to this theme of light and dark, purity and wickedness, or joy and sadness. This interpretation also ... The Power Elite is a critical study of the American power structure, in which Mills argued that a single elite (the ruler) decides for the nation as a whole, leaving minor decisions for the middle level person to handle and almost nothing for the common ones (the ruled). Magazines had the ability to perpetuate the already emerging ideals. The idea of self improvement became a very popular topic in the 1920s seen across all women s magazines, contributing to the progression from the middle class women to the New Woman. Currently, this combination has brought the species to the brink of extinction, with environmentalists claiming the species has no chance to recover if existing fishing practices are allowed to continue. The issue of the declining bluefin population is not simply the dismissal of catch limits, but also the ways in which fish are caught. One of the most wasteful fishing techniques is the use of surface longlines. These lines reach up to forty miles in length with baited hooks attached along the lines. The lines are deployed in spawning areas where hundreds of bluefin are caught along with other non target species every year. Conservationist groups have encouraged the National Marine Fisheries Service to ban the use of longlines in the Gulf during spawning season to give stocks time to recover.
