Johannes Kepler s Research Paper
Kepler s Discoveries I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the
thoughtless approval of the masses. Said Johannes Kepler in deep thought. He developed smallpox
when he was three, which left him partially disabled and with poor vision. Even though he was
disabled he still was a straight A student who scored well in math. His dream was to enter the
ministry, but the economy forced him to pursue mathematics, which later he realized was Gods
leading.

Parkinson In Mr. Skogen s English Class
On Monday, March 18, 2013 teacher Eric Skogen ripped 10 year old Roger Parkinson s ear off.
To Parkinson it was going to be just another day in Mr. Skogen s English class. But what he didn
t know was that Skogen was having a rough day. Parkinson was on his way to English class when
students from the class before stopped him in the hall to warn him that Skogen was not in a good
mood. Parkinson did not think much of it and continued on his way to class. When Parkinson
entered the classroom Skogen demanded them to sit, and started his lesson. He had assigned
homework in the last class and expected them to complete it, children in the last class had not
completed it, Skogen grew frustrated and gave them detention. When Skogen began to collect

The Future Of Terrorism In The United States
Over the past Century, terrorism has advanced from random killings to enormous plans for
terrorist groups. To understand terrorism you must first define it. Terrorism as we all know it is
hard to define and understand, and has many different definitions as it is used widely. The word
terrorism stems from the word terror , which means to instill fear in. People become terrorists
when they take the actions towards instilling fear and terror upon people to prove a certain point
or agenda. Some terrorists may have the motivation of proving something political, while some
may just inflict terror to keep control over a group, people or country. Then there are terrorists who
act under the notion that they are showing support for something, as in religious regions, while
others do so to show disdain for something they don t agree with. Government, individual agencies,
private agencies, and academic experts have all developed, proposed, designed, and analyzed what
constitutes acts of terrorism. The meaning of terrorism has definitely changed and acquired new
definitions over the years. The million dollar question is how will the future of America be affected
by this act of terrorism?
Terrorism represents a continuing threat to the United States. It is the most significant threat to our
national security. Terrorist attacks have definitely left many concerns about the possibilities of
future incidents of terrorism in the United States. Since the events of September 11, 2011,

How Did Yersinia Pestis Cause The Bubonic Plague
For centuries, plague ravaged the people living in Asia, Africa, and Europe, leading to destructive
plague outbreaks, contributing to massive panic in cities and countries where it appeared.
Believed to be the only antidote, cities would dig mass burial sites to dispose of the bodies of the
infected after their deaths, one of which was East Smithfield. East Smithfield was excavated in the
1980s and, thanks to the 2,400 bodies recovered from the graveyard, scientists were able to
reconstruct the genome from the bacterium that caused the bubonic plague, Yersinia pestis
(Callaway). Years before this discovery, Alexandre Yersin linked Yersinia pestis (Y. pestis) to the
bubonic plague; many scientists then surmised that the pathogen was behind not only the Black
death, but also a myriad of earlier mass pandemics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earliest recorded pandemic was believed to be the Justinian plague, named after the sixth
century emperor Justinian I, which devastated Constantinople, and was followed by several
outbreaks afterward, killing over twenty five million people (CDC). However, some modern
historians and scientists have come to doubt that Y. pestis caused these outbreaks. Many clues
tying Y. pestis outbreaks came largely from historical accounts of symptoms, but the epidemics
known to be caused by Y. pestis seemed to mild to have been caused by the same genome as that
of the Black Death. Some scholars believe that haemorrhagic fever caused viruses similar to
Ebola or Anthrax would be more likely to have been the cause of these ancient epidemics than Y.
pestis (Callaway). The line between scholars who believe Y. pestis is the culprit behind the Black
Death as well as the modern plague, and those who do not. Whether or not the instances of plague
are the same has yet to be known, as further research has yet to be discovered, it is more likely than
not that the diseases are fundamentally the

A Simple User Interaction Is Never Simple
A simple user interaction is never simple. A person responding to a product, service, or
information tool is also influenced by his or her surroundings, branded content, and even other
people woven into the experience. When we study, craft, and engineer an experience, we need to
consider all these elements in order to be empathetic and effective designers. Of course, users bring
their own frame of mind and external inputs to any interaction. These are elements designers cannot
control. Part of what we can control is a user s reaction to individual elements and touchpoints the
things that ultimately build an impression of a brand. These are things we can design. People new

Researchers also delve into trends at the product, design, consumer, and global level. They
observe market hurdles, whitespace and missed opportunities. Secondary research often plays a
major role here. Framing isn t just the gathering of that information. Framing is gathering,
rebuilding, and visualizing information so that it s easily grasped by everyone in the room, and
serves as a useful tool for further identifying opportunities. The importance of clear and impactful
visual representations will crop up again during later synthesis. 2) Watching and asking From
framing we move into primary research. Much of this consists of behavioral observation, focusing
on points at which users are offered choices (or lack of choice), points where they make decisions,
the information on which they base those decisions, and the behaviors they display when what they
seek is unavailable. We call those behaviors workarounds. Together with workarounds, we are
examining pain points and joy points. Joy points reveal what is working well about the current
experience, while pain points highlight the problematic aspects of the experience. In order to fully
understand these joy and pain points, we watch the world that the user lives in, delving into the

Budget Definition
Not counting savings, I was able to come in under budget by $11.03. It was really difficult to
create a budget on such a low monthly income. The first thing I did was to locate an apartment.
The upper range I had in mind for my apartment was $400, and the cheapest one I could find was
$399 per month. It was also very difficult trying to determine whether I wanted to drive a car.
Since the expenses for car insurance and gas would be really high, I decided to not use a car.
Fortunately, I got a job as a cashier at a nearby Walmart. Thus, I could just walk to work. In
addition, I found it difficult to find a relatively inexpensive after schoolactivity for the kids until I
got off work. The budget for groceries was also a tough amount to determine. Even if I use
coupons, it would be difficult for my family to stay within the budget every month for groceries.
Overall, I budgeted the bare minimum to my wants so that I could set aside money to my family s
needs. In order to meet all the expenses and live comfortably this family would need to be in the
middle class.
I would completely disagree with them. Even if a poor person works 40 hours a week, it is still
really difficult to get by every month, especially with family members to support. Many people ...

Examples Of Money In The Great Gatsby
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, money often costs too much (Berger). The world seems to
revolve around money, and it often distracts people from the joys of life that bring them fulfillment.
This is shown in almost every main character of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Although
on the surface the characters of The Great Gatsbyseem to live glamourous and joyous lives due to
the riches they have, when they are examined more closely, it is evident that their money actually
does not provide them prosperity and contentment; therefore, the theme of The Great Gatsby is that
money cannot buy happiness. Multiple examples prove that the theme of The Great Gatsby is that
money cannot buy happiness and these examples are displayed throughout the entire novel. This
theme is shown in Gatsby s chase after Daisy, Daisy and Tom s failure of a marriage, and it is
shown when Nick is attempting to get Gatsby s friends to attend his funeral.
Jay Gatsby seems to have anything and everything he could ever want; money, a beautiful house,
and a good friend, Nick. All of the random people that go to Gatsby s parties, although they do not
know exactly who he is, envy the so called glamorous life that he lives. But, F. Scott... Show more

to make any more than one good friend who was willing to attend his funeral, which is depressing
and it is quite unusual for most people to have a funeral like Gatsby s. Unfortunately, even though
Gatsby threw elaborate parties constantly, he was seemingly forgotten by everyone as soon as he

The Characteristics Of A Bastard Out Of Carolina
More often than not, families generally have something that relates back to their family names,
whether it s the way they speak or a characteristic that they all happen to share. There are numerous
aspects that make a Boatwright woman, including having the ability to tell a good story.
Considering Bastard Out of Carolina is a semi autobiographical novel, it incorporates many stories
and personal experiences. Ruth Anne, or Bone, tells the story of her life throughout the entire book
and includes an abundance of dialogue between her and her family. A great deal of the
conversations that Bone adds in the novel tend to be stories, mainly by the women in her family.
Therefore, being a competent storyteller is one of the ways of being a Boatwright woman.
The one particular story that Aunt Alma portrays dwells on Bone s biological father. Towards
the beginning of the novel, Bone speculates about her biological father and why she has never
met him. In an effort to prove that he is not someone that Bone should want to meet, she
describes the one time he came to see Bone: That boy was scared shitless, holding you...You just
looked at him with your black Indian eyes like he wasn t nothing but a servant...Then you pissed
a pailful all down his sleeves, the front of his shirt, and right down his pants halfway to his knees!
You peed all over that son of a bitch! (Allison 25). Joyous with this memory, Alma told Bone this
flashback because she likes the fact that Bone did spiteful

The Philosophy Of Mind And The Body
Philosophy of mind had come across when philosophers had an idea of the concepts regarding the
human mind and its mysteries. This branch of psychology had intended to elaborate and study the
nature and aspects of the human mind, also how these concepts such as mental events, mental
functions and consciousness would connect to each other, through the human brain and body.
Philosophy of mindbecame one of the central areas of philosophy as the skills and abilities of
metalizing are used to treat individuals as the bearers of unobservable psychological states and
processes, and in order to anticipate and explain the individual s behavior in terms of states.
Dualism, a philosophy most defended by Rene Descartes, Believed that there are two concepts to
philosophy, regarding the mind and the body. Dualism, is possibly the oldest and the most intuitive
of the philosophies of mind, however within the modern psychology, this philosophy is a minority
view among psychologists. This theory states that the mental cannot exist outside of the body, and
the body is unable to think. It refers to reality as two distinct kind of things Mental and material
things. Dualists often believe in different concepts regarding how these would relate to each other.
Dualists fall into a variety of camps depending on how they would believe the mind and the body is
related. Interactionists see that the mental events have effects or can cause the physical effects.

False Dichotomy
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over
will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to
you. (Luke 6:38 NKJV)
After reading Kapic s A Little Book for New Theologian, a false dichotomy that I have come
across throughout many churches and the body of Christ is the dilemma between giving and
receiving. Many people are so concerned with their treasures on Earth, that they will do whatever
it takes to maintain that treasure. Furthermore, pride gets in the way of individuals receiving the
blessings of the Lord mainly because they do not know how to receive. The church has those
individuals who do not want to give, but there are also many people who do ... Show more content

Kapic (2012, 52) states the faith to receive and submit to divine revelation is not acquired at the
conclusion of syllogistic exercise; it is a gift from God. Everyone struggles with something.
However, the church does not seek assistance because it would be viewed negatively, or that
individual has too much pride to receive something that they, or their family, needs. My argument
would be if we do not allow ourselves to be put in a position to receive from others, then we can
never receive God s many blessings either.
In order to resolve the false dichotomy between giving and receiving, I think individuals need to
recognize the importance of having a healthy balance of both ideals. It s important as followers
of Christ to know how to both give and receive of our time, money, energy, talents, etc.
Additionally, I think the dichotomy can be resolved by recognizing a weakness or lack of
understanding in one of the two ideals. If a church or an individual is able to give without question
but has a problem receiving , then that church or individual needs to focus on that ideal to resolve

Explanation and History John Holland was a remarkable psychologist that took special interest
in career choice and personality traits. Holland s career counseling perspective started while
studying at the University of Minnesota for graduate school in counseling. In graduate school,
was when he discovered that people express personality in various ways (Nauta, 2010, p.12). He
expressed that personality and career interests work together somehow (Nauta, 2010). The John
Holland s Typology is the concept that one chooses a career to satisfy one s preferred modal
personal orientation (Zunker, 2012, p. 27). He made two major points about how people are
influenced for a career choice. The first point was that people search for an environment that they
can utilize their skills and abilities, and reveal their values and attitudes in the most influential way.
The second point was that a person s

Personal Narrative-The Red Bus

It all happened one regular afternoon on a Wednesday at Hertford County Early College. It was

While waiting, they noticed a mysterious red bus pull up about 30 yards from them. They had

Hammond s View Of Sexuality As A Social Construction
I think that analyzing sexuality as a social construction, and importantly as one that is fluid
evolving with and responding to the social terrain it is operating within is necessary because it
allows for reflection and revision. I agree with Hammond s sentiment that through erasure black
women have lost the ability to articulate any conception of their sexuality (133, Hammonds),
however I believe it goes beyond a loss of ability. Hammonds claims that not only are people of
color often excluded from spaces that discuss the politics of sexuality, but that when they are
granted space to speak, a queer writer of color may find that defining himself gay is not of the
utmost importance (129). That is to say that the intersection of race and

Sodium Hypochlorite
Description
When our favorite white T shirt gets badly stained, we reach for our favorite laundry detergent that
contains bleach. The bleaching agent present in the detergent is a chemical called sodium
hypochlorite, which is the focus of our discussion in this lesson.
!!!What is Sodium Hypochlorite?
When our favorite articles of clothing get stained, and when we need to clean our bathrooms, we
reach for our laundry detergent household cleaners that contain bleach.
Bleach
The main constituent of household bleach is a chemical called sodium hypochlorite. __Sodium
hypochlorite__ in liquid form is greenish or yellowish in color and is commonly referred to as
bleach because it is the active ingredient in bleach. Its chemical formula is __NaClO__, composed
of one sodium (Na) atom, one chlorine (Cl) atom and one oxygen (O) atom. Its chemical structure
shows that hypochlorite ion (ClO ) has an ionic bond with sodium (Na+) ion.
Sodium Hypochlorite Chemical Structure
Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) is produced by a process known as the __Hooker process__,
which is the method used for a large scale production of NaClO. In the Hooker process, sodium
hydroxide (NaOH) is exposed to chlorine gas (Cl2). Along with sodium hypochlorite, the reaction
between these two substances produces sodium chloride (NaCl), water (H2O):

high concentrations on our skin can cause burns and irritation. Sodium hypochlorite is also an eye
irritant. If skin and eyes come into contact with sodium hypochlorite, flush with water immediately
and seek medical attention if this doesn t

Essay On Canada s Transportation System
Canada s Transportation System.
Transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another.
Transportation is the system of road transportation, rail transportation, marine transportation and air
transportation.
Transportation always played an important role in the history of Canada because of building the
railway system many provinces such as British Columbia and Prince Edward Island agreed to
join Confederation. The first Canada s railway line was built in 1836 and the first railway system
was completed and opened in 1885. November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canada
from sea to sea. There were the first steps of transportation s history of Canada.
Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transportation s system
makes possible to Canada to trade and develop local and international businesses. Canadians like
to think of themselves as residents of an autonomous nation, but increasingly, local and national
politics are dictated by the global shipping network. Without foreign buyers of raw materials like
softwood and oil, Canada would be a much poorer place. Shelves would go bare and the economy

The Australian Textile, Clothing And Footwear Essay
The Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) industry operates in a global environment
and the role of transportation management is an important component that must be explored.
Therefore, this report will set out to analyse its function within the TCF framework and in particular
its pertinence to Billabong International, one of the industry s largest companies. An overview of
the TCF industry and Billabongs role within it, will need to be given, to explain the context in
which the transport function operates. Secondly, it is important to identify the optimal transport
modes and clarify reasoning behind those choices with comparison to industry best practice.
Importantly, technological advantages in Billabongs transport partners and the benefits to its
entire supply chain are to be explored. It is also important to analyse risks and challenges involved
in choosing transport modes and finally conclusions will be made on the findings of this report.
Additionally, any alterations required to assist the future transport choices of Billabong will be
recommended. 2. The Textile, clothing and footwear supply chain in Australia: The Australian

American War And The American Civil War
In the beginning when America was uniting and trying to form its official government the northern
states and the southern states had already different greatly from each other. The North was
industrializing and working on expanding west and the South was booming with farming and its
famous cash crop. The North wanted to abolish slavery and the South did not. Since the North and
South had so many differences and could not keep a steady compromise, heavy tensions arose
between the North and the South which then caused the Southern states of America to decide to
leave the American Union and create their own Southern Confederacy. This tore our nation apart.

For example, farming was the main source of income for the Confederate states. The main southern
chief crop which came to be known as King Cotton, accounted for 57% of all U.S. exports ( Civil
War ). However, in order to produce these large amounts of cotton, the southern Confederate states
depended heavily on slave labor. Since cotton production began to dominate and fuel the southern
economy, the South felt that they did not need to industrialize like their northern neighbors did.
This caused the South to manufacture very little goods and caused them to purchase manufactured
goods from the industrialized North or to purchase imported goods from overseas.
Unlike the Confederate South, the North decided to not utilize slave labor like the South did
because their economy did not call for farming that required large amounts of labor for rapid
production. The Union also decided to not utilize slave labor because slave labor was against many
of the northerner s morals. Since the North was industrialized and they manufactured goods, they
had to compete with other manufactures overseas. To demolish competition from the imported
goods from overseas, the northerners demanded high tariffs on the imported goods so that more
people will buy the manufactured goods from the North instead of the now more expensive
imported goods from overseas. The

English only sink or swim? Yeah right! Instead of English Only Advocates worrying about
bilingual education cost in our school system, why not take advantage of the skills our ethnic
minorities possess to move our economy forward? They are obviously not thinking clearly, because
the benefit of bilinguals, significantly outweigh the bad. To deny our youth the opportunity for
upward mobility and skill to become more marketable in a worldwide capacity is inhumane. They
believe bilinguals threaten to sap our sense of national identity and divide us along ethnic lines.

They should encourage and support students to the attainment of bilingual or multilingual skills.
They should also consider that students coming from homes where two or more languages are used
will face difficulty in applying while in the school environment. The fact that so few Americans
command any other language than English is largely a result of educational failure and cultural
inadequacies. The American economy will benefit from bilingual education because historically
multilingual personnel are smarter, academic skills are sharper, and their contributions to society
are immeasurable. English is the one language that offers the biggest market, the largest pool of

The Old Guitarists In Laurie Adams A History Of Western Art
In Laurie Adams A History of Western Art there are pieces of art that have lots of meaning and
representations one in particular being Pablo Picasso s drawing titled The Old Guitarist (468).
The image chosen shows a man sitting on the ground, wearing tattered clothes and playing a
guitar. Looking closely, the man s frame appears long and bony, paired with tattered clothes. His
face looks sad and glum while his body seems to be leaning in, listening intently to his guitar as
his hands go over the strings. The major point for choosing this image is for the fact that the artist,
Picasso, chose to represent the image using only shades of blue. Idioms are words or phrases that
are taken for its literal term when instead it means something completely

Active Aging Essay
Active aging is defined as the maintenance of positive subjective well being, good physical, social
and mental health and continued involvement in one s family, peer group and community
throughout the aging process (Hofer, 2016, p.1). Active aging promotes the vision of all individuals
regardless of age, socioeconomic status or health fully engaging in life within all seven dimensions
of wellness: emotional, environmental, intellectual/cognitive, physical, professional/vocational,
social and spiritual ( What is Active Aging, 2017).
Active does not just refer to the ability to participate in the workforce or be physically active. It
also refers to the continued participation in social, economic, cultural, spiritual and civic affairs.
Older people who are ill, live with disabilities, and/or are retired from work can still be active
participants in the lives of their families, peers, and communities. The goal of active aging is to
extend healthy life and the quality of life for people as they age ( Active Ageing: A Policy
Framework, 2002).
The active ageing approach is based on the recognition of the human rights of older people and
the United Nations Principles of independence, participation, dignity, care and self fulfillment. It
moves from the assumption that older people are passive (a needs based approach) to the idea that
people should be afforded equality in all areas as they age (a rights based approach) ( Active

You re from Kenya, right?

Nigeria, Kenya. Kenya, Nigeria. Same thing.
No, actually they are entirely different countries located at opposite ends of the African continent
and contain two very different groups of people.
It is amazing how very little some people know about the continent not country of Africa, let alone

Most Kenyans are heavy tea and coffee drinkers and do not consider a meal to be complete without
chai.
Nigerians generally have a wider variety of food than Kenyans, partly due to the Nigerian tropical
climate and vegetation that offers a larger variation of foods in comparison to the mostly dry and
unfertile land of Kenya. The common items on the Nigerian menu range from various finger foods
to more filling items. The finger foods include chin chin, crunchy little donuts cut into tiny
squares about one centimeter long and one centimeter wide, kose, little fried bean cakes with
onions and red peppers, suya, kabobs that are generously seasoned with cayenne pepper and
staked on sticks between slices of tomatoes, and fried sweet plantains lightly sprinkled with salt.
The more filling foods include pounded yams and egusi soup. Yams, the staple crop in Nigeria,
are like gigantic potatoes often the length of a grown man s arm. The yams are boiled and then
pounded in a mortar to create a dish dissimilar in taste but similar in looks to mashed potatoes.
Egusi soup is prepared from a melon seed that is ground into a powder and then combined with
palm oil, crayfish, fresh fish, stock fish, spinach leaves, and either chicken or beef. A choice of
pounded yam or rice is always offered. Rice in different forms will be prepared: plain white rice
with a tomato stew, jollof rice prepared with tomato sauce and carrots, peas, and

Nike Pricing Strategy

Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety
The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in
school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses.
The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885
in order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in
the manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat
belt. The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils
Bohlin was hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat
belt that better protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created
to help secure both the upper and lower body in an accident.
Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most
first world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt
became more common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat
belt law was created in Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all
times. In the U.S., seat belt laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and
Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966.
From 2006 to 2015, there were nationally 301 school aged children who died in school

Criminal Profiling In Criminal Justice
CRIMINAL PROFILING: BRINGING THE GUILTY TO JUSTICE OR NOT?
Television crime shows like NCIS or CSI and movies like Sherlock Holmes often display the
investigation tool known as criminal profiling. By examining hidden clues at crime scenes the
heroes of the show always manage to successfully track down the guilty suspect and bring them to
justice. In real life, however, things are not that simple. If one is a fan of these shows or shows
similar in content, one may be under the influence that criminal profiling is a relatively new tool in
criminal investigation. Yet, that is not the case. The use of criminal profiling in crime
investigations has been around for well over 100 years (Canter). However, even though this tool

considered to be a scientific process. This is most likely the main reason that criminal profiles are
inadmissible in a courtroom. Judges and juries are interested in the facts of the crime and since the
hypothesis of a criminal profiler cannot be tested and proven, you cannot label a profile as valid and

Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine
It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early
Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress.
The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and
progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power
led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the
progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to
providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand
and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority
of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge.
From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high
mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people
anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on
what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health,
therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited .
However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as
one would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant

Analysis Of Words I Never Said By Lupe Fiasco
One of the many contentious issues raised and attacked in Words I Never Said by Lupe Fiasco
is the issue of America s war on terror, claiming that the idea of terror is used as a front to
dominate the Middle East for political and economical reasons, decreasing civil liberties and
controlling the world s supply of oil. This view is one held by millions, claiming that such force
isn t needed to weed out a flimsy opposition. A radical theory held by some is addressed a few
lines later, asking if it was the US government that orchestrated 9/11. Although I disagree with this
claim that it was an inside job, I do believe that the grief and fear of the American people was
falsely harnessed and targeted to spread America s dominance across the globe,

Two U.S. Vacation Hot Spots Essay
In all of my travels across the United States of America, the `hottest vacation spot hands down is

These vacation destinations are the two most beautiful and most relaxing places in the nation! I
personally have experienced a week of enjoyment at both locations and find myself wanting to go
back to each of them in the future because I had such a great time. Even though these are both
awesome places to spend a week of vacation time, they differ in weatherand climatepatterns, they

Since both vacation spots have different climates, they both offer a variety of different activities to
do and adventures to have. In Key West, vacationers are literally surrounded by water and have
numerous water activities to partake in like deep sea fishing, boating, swimming, snorkeling, scuba
diving, jet skiing, going to the beach, etc. I would suggest packing your travel bags full of shorts,
tee shirts, water apparel, and extra sunscreen! In the arctic area of Alaska, recreational activities
include biking, climbing, camping, fishing, hiking, winter sports, scenic driving, wildlife viewing,
and visiting various exhibits. Your travel bags for Denali National Park should consist of warm,
water resistant clothing, hiking equipment, camping equipment, and nutritional and energizing
camping food.
One of the most important issues about traveling and vacations is the cost and the overall
expense of the trip. From Allentown, Pennsylvania, a round trip ticket for a week to Key West,
Florida is going to cost between four hundred and five hundred dollars, including a rental car and
gas. However, a round trip ticket for a week to Anchorage, Alaska, and also gas and a rental car
to drive four hours north to Denali, is going to be slightly more expensive. It is going to cost
between six hundred and nine hundred dollars to travel. These costs do not even cover food,
hotels, or shelter you are going to stay in. There will also be numerous activity costs like boating,

Silver Bullion Bars Research Paper
Electricity is required to make colloidal silver that is pure, because other methods require the use of
chemicals that leave behind contaminants. Thus, the use of electricity is the only way to make
correct colloidal silver that is safe for internal usage. Anything that is added into the solution
changes it into something else. For example, the addition of salt chemically transforms colloidal
silverinto silver chloride, which is something that does not have the exceptional safety record of
colloidal silver. While silver chloride is ideal for eye drops, it is nevertheless something that should
not be used internally.
The purity of the ingredients is essential for making true colloidal silver, for impurities will

The Military Instrument Of National Power
Instruments of national power encompass all of the means available to a government in its pursuit
of national objectives. It is expressed as diplomatic, economic, informational and military aspects.
Of the four instruments of national power, the military instrument has had the most impact on the
cycle of Western interaction with the rest of the world. Militarystrength generally determines the
ability of one nation to impose its will upon another nation. Many military advancements allowed
the West to become the first to explore the world and, eventually, to dominate these nations. This
use of the military instrument of national power was continued when the developing world used
this instrument to free themselves, or, in some cases, attempt to free themselves, from Western
influence. The military instrument of national power ensured that the West would come to interact
with, and dominate, the developing world, and that these developing countries would take offense
to this control thus guaranteeing that their future interactions with the West would not be amicable.
The military instrument of power was one of the most influential instruments because it was one of
the first to be examined as a potential instrument of power. It was not surprising that this instrument
was developed after the rise of mercantilism. It was the mercantilists who were the first thinkers
who undertook, although with insufficient analytical tools, the study of military potential. They
were themselves

Review Of Sean Covey s Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Do you remember struggling in school? In your relationships with others? With yourself? Do you

great advice for teenagers wanting to have more peace and control over their lives.
One of the most helpful advice Sean gives is to focus on your Personal Bank Account (PBA). This

the River Jordan, but the Sea of Galilee is also as an outlet; it gives whereas the Dead sea only

there is no reward for being selfish. I always try to give as much as I can. I love Mother Teresa s

Research Paper On Marc Chagagall
Fantasy, magic, movement and life. These words describe the work of an extraordinary Artist,
Marc Chagall. At a young age, I came across one of his paintings, I and the Village, in a book I
was reading. This one painting impacted me and changed the way I viewed not only art, but the
world. In this work of art, Marc Chagall creates a world, a surface covered with representations
of things... in which logic and illustration have no importance. (Chagall). A world in which I
wanted to live in. There is a peasant and an animal, looking head to head, eye to eye with calm
facial expressions. The animal, dreaming of a perfect day. A man and woman in the middle of
them, one upside down. Above them houses are placed, upside down as well. At the very bottom
is not just a plant, but a tree of life. This painting comes to life with some geometric shapes that

definitely accurate for me, because I do not like to jump to quick decisions, I need time to think
over what I have to say, and if it is something important, then I do prefer rehearsing it a few times

Googling Franklin Harrod name gave me all the same basic information I receive while
searching for a summary. Next, I goggled his wife s Kelly Harrod name. I found articles about
the sentencing of Kelly Harrod and Tamara Trussell. I also searched other alias Kelly used such
as Kelly Bishop. In one of the article I found under that search, I found out that Franklin Harrod
worked as a custodian for The Andover school district. This information is not entirely useful, but
it was some new information that I had not been privy to. As I was doing my searches on Kelly, I
noticed that in almost all of the articles I read that Franklin Harrod Jr was referred to as Punkie

Essay on The Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam
Out in the middle of no where, an hour drive away from Las Vegas, NV lies one of the biggest
dams and power plants in the world. Built in the heart of the depression, it serves as more than
just a barrier from water to pass through. The concrete poured into the walls of Hoover Dam, are
made by the sweat and blood of hundreds of Americans who were looking to save themselves, and
their families.
Residing on the Colorado River, the Hoover dam rises out of no where. Downstream from the Grand
Canyon, this structure is almost as impressive as the Grand Canyon. With its towering height, and
awesome power output, it is almost inconceivable that the technology required to build such a
structure would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The engineering design that went behind building such a massive barrier is unbelievable. While
building started in 1931, it is clear that there was a huge push to make this structure even
decades before the first shovel pierced the earth. The American agriculture in the southwest, was
going through a cycle of floods and droughts, this would make for very harsh growing
conditions. Engineers felt that it was possible to block the Colorado River, which would allow
for regulation of the water and also hydroelectric power. This massive project would not have
been possible without the financing of a very large company. During the middle of the depression,
it was extremely hard to find a company who was willing to front the money to start the project.
One was found and for close to forty nine million dollars, the dam was financed by six different
smaller construction companies.
The first thing that needed to be constructed was roads that lead up to the dam site. Hoover dam isn
t anywhere close to any towns or cities. The railroads didn t even lead up to it. The first order of
business was to make the dam accessible by the cars and trains that would be bringing in the
supplies necessary to make the dam. In order to try and stop the water from flowing down to the
dam site, a cofferdam was built slightly upstream, and another slightly down stream from the dam
site. This cofferdam allowed for the diversion of water through large pipes to down below

Racial Diversity Research Paper
Racial Diversity
Race is a part of our culture that shapes who we are as a society. Race helps us make up how one
sees the world around us and the different multitudes of ethnic groups. Different raciest are
compassed by how we view one s languages, values, and beliefs, race that continues to shape the
practice and politics of citizenship in ways that are often obscured in modern citizenship debates
(Collins. 2014) causing for racial diversity. In the past race was concerted either black or white,
there was no in between. With the changing of times the world is becoming a mixing pot for all

The big issue on discrimination has been going on sense the beginning of time. With one race of
people trying to control another race of people, pose challenges that is still and always will be
an issue that society has always struggled with. Now that the United States has become a melting
pot of not only different races, but also people with different values, genders, ages, religions,
ethnicity, ability, classes, and sexual orientation. No race or cultural of people male or female
is beyond diversity that has taken over the world today. No one can truly say that he or she has
never experienced or witness some form of biases or prejudices in one s life. The media shows
events of biases and prejudices that take shape across the world every day, all one has to do is
turn on the TV or open the newspaper. The beliefs that one race is better than another has always
been an open opinion that fuels hate that one class of people is better than another. Race
diversity should not be thought of as a bad thing, we should embrace race diversity. By
embracing another race or cultural it allows a race other than one s own to be shared and
understood why one race of people way of life is unlike one s own without having culture shock
when one comes across another race of people. A good thing about a different race one is able to
learn what we concerned abnormal or normal through another culture eyes per say without leaving
one s community. Race diversity is hitting us in every walk of life from our work place, schools,
doctors offices, and even our own

Reflective Practice Research Paper
Reflective Practice (RP) is a concept embedded nowadays in most of the educational and healthcare
professional curriculums in UK, but it is much more developed and almost mandatory in nursing
than in any other field (Hebert, Finlay 2008, GMC, NMC, Wilson 1996). This trend is based not
only on learning theories, professional requirements and patient expectation but also for the
numerous benefits that have been described such as enhancing the competence of self directed
lifelong learning, professional development and critical thinking among others. This beside of some
drawbacks that have been highlighted (tsingos). Despite the popularity, surprisingly, I had never
come across this concept before during my dental undergraduate and orofacial pain

Chronological Resumes
Resumes are important in telling a potential employees story in a condensed version of their
educational and employment history. Employers generally prefer single page resumes; however,
often a two page resume is acceptable (Cardon, 2013). Moreover, including too much information
contributes to confusion or jumbled messages and in contrast may actually take away from the
important qualifications and abilities that are displayed. According to Cardon (2013),
chronological resumes are the most common and are preferred 75% of the time. Accordingly,
chronological resumes are designed in reverse order with the most recent work history and
education listed first (Gantner, 2010). Chronological resumes are beneficial in displaying a strong
work history. Consequently, these resumes are preferred when there are no gaps in one s work
history. In addition, chronological resumes are also best in displaying a young professional s
education and skills (Cardon, 2013). Key components of chronological resumes are the name block,

Importance is placed on drawing attention to key skills and qualifications that an employee
possesses (Gantner, 2010). Potential employees that have gaps in their work history use functional
resumes to showcase potential skills while relating experiences using those skills as an advantage in
gaining employment. According to Cardon (2013), professionals with more than 15 years of
experience or potential employees with little work experience benefit most by creating functional
resumes. Components of functional resumes are the name block, summary of qualifications or
career summary, skills, and additional information. Although a functional resume is most beneficial
to potential employees with a vast amount of work experience, even individuals with key skills
from school, community, or volunteer activities may benefit from this resume

Artificial Insemination and the Rights of Women, Men, and...
Women have adamantly battled for political and social reproductive rights since, in particular
artificial insemination, have become mainstream phenomena in the recent decade with a focus on
rights of women. In fact, doctors have experimented with the procedure for nearly a century.
However, with the womenВ№s liberation movementof the 1970s, physician assisted and self
insemination has become more and more popular among heterosexual career women and lesbians.
The Origins of Artificial Insemination

Women, usually healthy and fertile, enlist the help of physicians because they do not have access
to the one element that will yield them a child. And so, doctors prescribe a cure of sorts sperm. The
procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies.
Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather
for men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to
alleviate the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species.
With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists
entertained theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as
Francis Crick and Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was
increasing too rapidly, and most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were
increasing. In short, the wrong classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was
desired by these men. They hoped that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as
themselves. To yield this, they proposed schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for
sterilization; to license women for the number of children they may bear and men for the sperm
they may deposit in seed banks;

The Decolonization Process After The Second World War
29.The decolonization process after the Second World War resulted in the end of British
hegemony in the Indian Ocean. The subsequent Cold War which ensued was again marked by
superpower rivalry in the region, enhancing the region s global strategic value. When this period
came to an end, the littoral countries of the IOR to a certain extent rediscovered some of the
economic, social and cultural facets that made the ocean the bridge between Africa, Asia and
Australia . However, regional cooperation coordination is still a far reality which is a dire necessity
for overall development in the region. In the 21st century the Indian Oceansecurityhas evolved to be
multifaceted and dynamic. The emerging threats and challenges which are typically common to the
entire region, range across a wide spectrum with transnational maritime crimes such as piracy,
illegal immigration, human trafficking, smuggling and illegal unregulated and unreported (IUU)
п¬Ѓshing activities at one end to the more serious challenges of natural disasters, climate change
and even interstate maritime disputes erupting into fully fledged confrontations at the other end .
The word Maritime Security deals with the prevention of illicit activities in the maritime domain .
In the previous chapter we have been acquainted with the geostrategic and economic importance of
the region which has resulted in the shift of world s interest to this part of the maritime province.

  • 4. The Future Of Terrorism In The United States Over the past Century, terrorism has advanced from random killings to enormous plans for terrorist groups. To understand terrorism you must first define it. Terrorism as we all know it is hard to define and understand, and has many different definitions as it is used widely. The word terrorism stems from the word terror , which means to instill fear in. People become terrorists when they take the actions towards instilling fear and terror upon people to prove a certain point or agenda. Some terrorists may have the motivation of proving something political, while some may just inflict terror to keep control over a group, people or country. Then there are terrorists who act under the notion that they are showing support for something, as in religious regions, while others do so to show disdain for something they don t agree with. Government, individual agencies, private agencies, and academic experts have all developed, proposed, designed, and analyzed what constitutes acts of terrorism. The meaning of terrorism has definitely changed and acquired new definitions over the years. The million dollar question is how will the future of America be affected by this act of terrorism? Terrorism represents a continuing threat to the United States. It is the most significant threat to our national security. Terrorist attacks have definitely left many concerns about the possibilities of future incidents of terrorism in the United States. Since the events of September 11, 2011, ... • 5. How Did Yersinia Pestis Cause The Bubonic Plague For centuries, plague ravaged the people living in Asia, Africa, and Europe, leading to destructive plague outbreaks, contributing to massive panic in cities and countries where it appeared. Believed to be the only antidote, cities would dig mass burial sites to dispose of the bodies of the infected after their deaths, one of which was East Smithfield. East Smithfield was excavated in the 1980s and, thanks to the 2,400 bodies recovered from the graveyard, scientists were able to reconstruct the genome from the bacterium that caused the bubonic plague, Yersinia pestis (Callaway). Years before this discovery, Alexandre Yersin linked Yersinia pestis (Y. pestis) to the bubonic plague; many scientists then surmised that the pathogen was behind not only the Black death, but also a myriad of earlier mass pandemics... The earliest recorded pandemic was believed to be the Justinian plague, named after the sixth century emperor Justinian I, which devastated Constantinople, and was followed by several outbreaks afterward, killing over twenty five million people (CDC). However, some modern historians and scientists have come to doubt that Y. pestis caused these outbreaks. Many clues tying Y. pestis outbreaks came largely from historical accounts of symptoms, but the epidemics known to be caused by Y. pestis seemed to mild to have been caused by the same genome as that of the Black Death. Some scholars believe that haemorrhagic fever caused viruses similar to Ebola or Anthrax would be more likely to have been the cause of these ancient epidemics than Y. pestis (Callaway). The line between scholars who believe Y. pestis is the culprit behind the Black Death as well as the modern plague, and those who do not. Whether or not the instances of plague are the same has yet to be known, as further research has yet to be discovered, it is more likely than not that the diseases are fundamentally the ... A person responding to a product, service, or information tool is also influenced by his or her surroundings, branded content, and even other people woven into the experience. When we study, craft, and engineer an experience, we need to consider all these elements in order to be empathetic and effective designers. Of course, users bring their own frame of mind and external inputs to any interaction. These are elements designers cannot control. Part of what we can control is a user s reaction to individual elements and touchpoints the things that ultimately build an impression of a brand. These are things we can design. Researchers also delve into trends at the product, design, consumer, and global level. They observe market hurdles, whitespace and missed opportunities. Secondary research often plays a major role here. Framing isn t just the gathering of that information. Framing is gathering, rebuilding, and visualizing information so that it s easily grasped by everyone in the room, and serves as a useful tool for further identifying opportunities. The importance of clear and impactful visual representations will crop up again during later synthesis. 2) Watching and asking From framing we move into primary research. Much of this consists of behavioral observation, focusing on points at which users are offered choices (or lack of choice), points where they make decisions, the information on which they base those decisions, and the behaviors they display when what they seek is unavailable. We call those behaviors workarounds. Together with workarounds, we are examining pain points and joy points. Joy points reveal what is working well about the current experience, while pain points highlight the problematic aspects of the experience. • 8. Budget Definition Not counting savings, I was able to come in under budget by $11.03. It was really difficult to create a budget on such a low monthly income. The first thing I did was to locate an apartment. The upper range I had in mind for my apartment was $400, and the cheapest one I could find was $399 per month. It was also very difficult trying to determine whether I wanted to drive a car. Since the expenses for car insurance and gas would be really high, I decided to not use a car. Fortunately, I got a job as a cashier at a nearby Walmart. Thus, I could just walk to work. In addition, I found it difficult to find a relatively inexpensive after schoolactivity for the kids until I got off work. The budget for groceries was also a tough amount to determine. Even if I use coupons, it would be difficult for my family to stay within the budget every month for groceries. Overall, I budgeted the bare minimum to my wants so that I could set aside money to my family s needs. In order to meet all the expenses and live comfortably this family would need to be in the middle class. I would completely disagree with them. • 9. Examples Of Money In The Great Gatsby Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, money often costs too much (Berger). The world seems to revolve around money, and it often distracts people from the joys of life that bring them fulfillment. This is shown in almost every main character of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Although on the surface the characters of The Great Gatsbyseem to live glamourous and joyous lives due to the riches they have, when they are examined more closely, it is evident that their money actually does not provide them prosperity and contentment; therefore, the theme of The Great Gatsby is that money cannot buy happiness. Multiple examples prove that the theme of The Great Gatsby is that money cannot buy happiness and these examples are displayed throughout the entire novel. This theme is shown in Gatsby s chase after Daisy, Daisy and Tom s failure of a marriage, and it is shown when Nick is attempting to get Gatsby s friends to attend his funeral. Jay Gatsby seems to have anything and everything he could ever want; money, a beautiful house, and a good friend, Nick. • 10. The Characteristics Of A Bastard Out Of Carolina More often than not, families generally have something that relates back to their family names, whether it s the way they speak or a characteristic that they all happen to share. There are numerous aspects that make a Boatwright woman, including having the ability to tell a good story. Considering Bastard Out of Carolina is a semi autobiographical novel, it incorporates many stories and personal experiences. Ruth Anne, or Bone, tells the story of her life throughout the entire book and includes an abundance of dialogue between her and her family. A great deal of the conversations that Bone adds in the novel tend to be stories, mainly by the women in her family. Therefore, being a competent storyteller is one of the ways of being a Boatwright woman. The one particular story that Aunt Alma portrays dwells on Bone s biological father. Towards the beginning of the novel, Bone speculates about her biological father and why she has never met him. In an effort to prove that he is not someone that Bone should want to meet, she describes the one time he came to see Bone: That boy was scared shitless, holding you...You just looked at him with your black Indian eyes like he wasn t nothing but a servant...Then you pissed a pailful all down his sleeves, the front of his shirt, and right down his pants halfway to his knees! • 11. The Philosophy Of Mind And The Body Philosophy of mind had come across when philosophers had an idea of the concepts regarding the human mind and its mysteries. This branch of psychology had intended to elaborate and study the nature and aspects of the human mind, also how these concepts such as mental events, mental functions and consciousness would connect to each other, through the human brain and body. Philosophy of mindbecame one of the central areas of philosophy as the skills and abilities of metalizing are used to treat individuals as the bearers of unobservable psychological states and processes, and in order to anticipate and explain the individual s behavior in terms of states. Dualism, a philosophy most defended by Rene Descartes, Believed that there are two concepts to philosophy, regarding the mind and the body. Dualism, is possibly the oldest and the most intuitive of the philosophies of mind, however within the modern psychology, this philosophy is a minority view among psychologists. This theory states that the mental cannot exist outside of the body, and the body is unable to think. It refers to reality as two distinct kind of things Mental and material things. Dualists often believe in different concepts regarding how these would relate to each other. Dualists fall into a variety of camps depending on how they would believe the mind and the body is related. Interactionists see that the mental events have effects or can cause the physical effects. • 12. False Dichotomy Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38 NKJV) After reading Kapic s A Little Book for New Theologian, a false dichotomy that I have come across throughout many churches and the body of Christ is the dilemma between giving and receiving. Many people are so concerned with their treasures on Earth, that they will do whatever it takes to maintain that treasure. Furthermore, pride gets in the way of individuals receiving the blessings of the Lord mainly because they do not know how to receive. The church has those individuals who do not want to give, but there are also many people who do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kapic (2012, 52) states the faith to receive and submit to divine revelation is not acquired at the conclusion of syllogistic exercise; it is a gift from God. Everyone struggles with something. However, the church does not seek assistance because it would be viewed negatively, or that individual has too much pride to receive something that they, or their family, needs. My argument would be if we do not allow ourselves to be put in a position to receive from others, then we can never receive God s many blessings either. In order to resolve the false dichotomy between giving and receiving, I think individuals need to recognize the importance of having a healthy balance of both ideals. It s important as followers of Christ to know how to both give and receive of our time, money, energy, talents, etc. Additionally, I think the dichotomy can be resolved by recognizing a weakness or lack of understanding in one of the two ideals. If a church or an individual is able to give without question but has a problem receiving , then that church or individual needs to focus on that ideal to resolve the ... Hammond s View Of Sexuality As A Social Construction I think that analyzing sexuality as a social construction, and importantly as one that is fluid evolving with and responding to the social terrain it is operating within is necessary because it allows for reflection and revision. I agree with Hammond s sentiment that through erasure black women have lost the ability to articulate any conception of their sexuality (133, Hammonds), however I believe it goes beyond a loss of ability. Hammonds claims that not only are people of color often excluded from spaces that discuss the politics of sexuality, but that when they are granted space to speak, a queer writer of color may find that defining himself gay is not of the utmost importance (129). The North was industrializing and working on expanding west and the South was booming with farming and its famous cash crop. The North wanted to abolish slavery and the South did not. Since the North and South had so many differences and could not keep a steady compromise, heavy tensions arose between the North and the South which then caused the Southern states of America to decide to leave the American Union and create their own Southern Confederacy. For example, farming was the main source of income for the Confederate states. The main southern chief crop which came to be known as King Cotton, accounted for 57% of all U.S. exports ( Civil War ). However, in order to produce these large amounts of cotton, the southern Confederate states depended heavily on slave labor. Since cotton production began to dominate and fuel the southern economy, the South felt that they did not need to industrialize like their northern neighbors did. This caused the South to manufacture very little goods and caused them to purchase manufactured goods from the industrialized North or to purchase imported goods from overseas. Unlike the Confederate South, the North decided to not utilize slave labor like the South did because their economy did not call for farming that required large amounts of labor for rapid production. The Union also decided to not utilize slave labor because slave labor was against many of the northerner s morals. Since the North was industrialized and they manufactured goods, they had to compete with other manufactures overseas. To demolish competition from the imported goods from overseas, the northerners demanded high tariffs on the imported goods so that more people will buy the manufactured goods from the North instead of the now more expensive imported goods from overseas. • 26. Active Aging Essay Active aging is defined as the maintenance of positive subjective well being, good physical, social and mental health and continued involvement in one s family, peer group and community throughout the aging process (Hofer, 2016, p.1). Active aging promotes the vision of all individuals regardless of age, socioeconomic status or health fully engaging in life within all seven dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, intellectual/cognitive, physical, professional/vocational, social and spiritual ( What is Active Aging, 2017). Active does not just refer to the ability to participate in the workforce or be physically active. It also refers to the continued participation in social, economic, cultural, spiritual and civic affairs. Older people who are ill, live with disabilities, and/or are retired from work can still be active participants in the lives of their families, peers, and communities. The goal of active aging is to extend healthy life and the quality of life for people as they age ( Active Ageing: A Policy Framework, 2002). The active ageing approach is based on the recognition of the human rights of older people and the United Nations Principles of independence, participation, dignity, care and self fulfillment. It moves from the assumption that older people are passive (a needs based approach) to the idea that people should be afforded equality in all areas as they age (a rights based approach) ( Active Ageing: A Policy Framework, 2002, p. ... • 29. Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses. The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885 in order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in the manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat belt. The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin was hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat belt that better protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created to help secure both the upper and lower body in an accident. Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most first world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt became more common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat belt law was created in Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all times. In the U.S., seat belt laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge. From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health, therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited . Of the four instruments of national power, the military instrument has had the most impact on the cycle of Western interaction with the rest of the world. Militarystrength generally determines the ability of one nation to impose its will upon another nation. Many military advancements allowed the West to become the first to explore the world and, eventually, to dominate these nations. This use of the military instrument of national power was continued when the developing world used this instrument to free themselves, or, in some cases, attempt to free themselves, from Western influence. The military instrument of national power ensured that the West would come to interact with, and dominate, the developing world, and that these developing countries would take offense to this control thus guaranteeing that their future interactions with the West would not be amicable. The military instrument of power was one of the most influential instruments because it was one of the first to be examined as a potential instrument of power. • 43. Jung Typology Test And Personality Temperament The Jung Typology Test determined that my personality temperament was ISFJ, being 41 percent introvert, 22 percent sensing, 6 percent feeling, and 25 percent judging. My Keirsey Temperament is the SJ or Guardians group, meaning that I am a protector and nurturer. This paper will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of this personality group, as well as an application of its relevance in the workplace. This paper will conclude with a discussion of how to apply the Christian worldview for the successful implementation of my personality temperament in the workplace. Project One: Personality Type and Temperament Step 1 I Introvert The Jung Typology Test (1998) found that I am 41 percent introverted. Kroeger, Thuesen, and Rutledge (2002) describe introverts as needing time to think things over when faced with a decision, and they prefer stating their opinions without being interrupted. This is definitely accurate for me, because I do not like to jump to quick decisions, I need time to think over what I have to say, and if it is something important, then I do prefer rehearsing it a few times before discussing it with someone else. Kroeger et al. (2002) state that introverts enjoy having time to themselves and will often need time alone to recharge after engaging in social events. In addition, introverts are usually described as being shy, and enjoy sharing special events with one or two close friends (Kroeger et al., 2002, p.18). I enjoy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The engineering design that went behind building such a massive barrier is unbelievable. While building started in 1931, it is clear that there was a huge push to make this structure even decades before the first shovel pierced the earth. The American agriculture in the southwest, was going through a cycle of floods and droughts, this would make for very harsh growing conditions. Engineers felt that it was possible to block the Colorado River, which would allow for regulation of the water and also hydroelectric power. This massive project would not have been possible without the financing of a very large company. During the middle of the depression, it was extremely hard to find a company who was willing to front the money to start the project. One was found and for close to forty nine million dollars, the dam was financed by six different smaller construction companies. The first thing that needed to be constructed was roads that lead up to the dam site. Hoover dam isn t anywhere close to any towns or cities. The railroads didn t even lead up to it. The first order of business was to make the dam accessible by the cars and trains that would be bringing in the supplies necessary to make the dam. In order to try and stop the water from flowing down to the dam site, a cofferdam was built slightly upstream, and another slightly down stream from the dam site. This cofferdam allowed for the diversion of water through large pipes to down below ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
