Code Talker Book Report
If you were a Navajo boy, forced out of your own culture and made to live in the brutal world of white
man s racial standards; could you survive that reality? The book code talker, written by Joseph
Bruchac, biased on the historically fictionalized story of Neds Begay s life. Ned as a child, is herded
into the extremely deprecative atmosphere, of boarding school. Ned, eventually goes on to fight for
the same country that implemented him into the hardship he was forced to endure; at the same time
making friends that would be so loyal as to sacrifice themselves for him. Ned s friends talked to cheer
each other up and be were always there for Ned or anyone else if things got tough for them. They
would laugh, talk and overall have such a strong connection with each other that even if it was for a
second Ned would forget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Ned, the thought of his family only made him fight harder. They were extremely supportive of his
decision to go to war. They knew he couldn t be stopped, but his parents instigated the rule that Ned
may only be of the correct age to join the military. Ned respected their request and when he came of
age was shipped out. During war Ned would often catch himself thinking about them and the he
received telling him to hurry home only made it harder for him. Letters saying, Dear son we pray for
your quick return home. He fought harder so as to haisen his return home. Through all the love and
support he felt was converted into strength, strength he used to fight for his loved ones. Ned would use
the compassion he felt and use it as a tool, a tool to destroy his enemies, and it was quite a powerful
tool. At time he would stare at the stars and it would take him back home, to the hills, the rivers and
his loving friends and family and all the support of his tribe. Ned believed that his survival was due to
his ancestors watching over him during his his times of hardships and

The Effects Of Obesity On Today s Youth
In the past couple of years there has been an uproar about American health. People are starting to take
notice of the fact that American citizens are getting fatter and fatter every day. Recently, there have
been many documentaries about obesity in today s youth. Over the past three decades, childhood
obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are
overweight or obese. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities,
where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don t solve this problem, one third of
all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others
will face chronic obesity related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and
asthma. Children are gaining more weight and everyone thinks it is because of technology and the lack
of outdoor play. That could be the reason, but it can also be something entirely different. America is
known for their big meals and fattening fast food. There are fast food restaurants around every corner
and it is cheap so this also contributes to the obesity rate rising. Americans are known to other
countries as the fat ones . They stereotype Americans as these fat and lazy people who only think
about themselves. America is the second country with the most obese people, following closely behind
Mexico. Obesity is at its all time high and the government is slowly taking

Secret And Forbidden Love In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...

Title
Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The Scarlet Letter is a story of secret and forbidden love as well as the
cause and effect of this forbidden love, the setting is a Puritan colony in Boston, Massachusetts around
1750. The main character Hester Prynne, a God fearing Puritan living within this community, gets
caught in the act of adultery when she is discovered to be with child whilst having no husband. During
this era, the punishment for adultery forced the adulteress or adulterer to wear a scarlet letter A upon
their bosom. While staying in prison, following the discovery of her sin, Hester gave birth to a
beautiful baby girl, which she named Pearl. Although some may choose to look upon pearl as a gift
from the devil, or as a rotten curse, Pearl grows to become a reflection of both individual and
collective human conscience, a personification of the scarlet letter, and a symbol of light. Pearl
represents a physical form of many character s consciences throughout the novel. For instance, she is
the voice of the collective conscience within her community when she points the crooked finger at
Hester in the forest. Everywhere Hester goes, Pearl must follow and so she is a constant reminder to
Hester that she must wear the scarlet letter at all times, while on their walk in Chapter 16, Pearl tells
her mother that the sunshine does not (274) love her and it runs away and hides itself (274)because it
is afraid of the letter. However, after Hester has cast off the letter A Pearl refuses to come to her. Pearl
often highlights and brings attention to Hester s scarlet letter by inquiring about its purpose, this shows
that while she may represent the conscience of those around her, she is still a little girl trying to
understand the world around her. Pearl is not only of manifestation of a community conscience but she
is most importantly a physical manifestation of Arthur Dimmesdale s conscience. She sees most
clearly his inner desires and she is attracted to him from the beginning. During their first encounter
when Pearl is still practically a newborn, she reaches for Dimmesdale, and while he notices he does

Deadly Force
As the Court said in the case of Tennessee v. Garner, police use of deadly force to apprehend a fleeing
felon from the scene of a residential burglary does not exceed the constitutional limits (Brody Acker,
2010).
I believe that limiting the power of the police to use deadly force makes the officers job more difficult.
Limiting the power makes the officers job more dangerous from the point of the suspect knowing the
officer is unable to respond correctly to a situation. If an officer is unable to use the force necessary
for certain situations, it not only endangers the officer s life but the lives of citizens around them. The
officer s ability to assist the public may also be limited. Why would the public want to call the police
who will be unable to use deadly force to assist them?
Most law abiding citizens in my area have a weapon in their home and if the officer is limited as to the
use of deadly force, the law abiding citizen will then take matters in their own hands. The other
possibility is that crime rate will drastically rise. Criminals will not be fearful of ... Show more content

In 2015, the Washington Post reported 987 fatal shootings by on duty officers in their database
(Lowery, 2016). These high numbers along with the role of media, have caused officers to be
scrutinized more than ever. Many of the largest police departments were asked to implement new
training and implement new policies that would decrease the number of fatal shootings (Lowery,
2016). The reform goals were to decrease the number of shootings that were not a crime, but sparked
an outrage in communities (Lowery, 2016). If you look at these goals of reform, it does make sense to
try to find ways to decrease deadly shootings that are not necessary. It just does not make sense to me
to limit officers so much that they are not effective in stopping crime and we are ultimately ruled by

Market Revolution Dbq
Insert Title Before the Market Revolution, America as a whole differed greatly from the America that
had developed during the start of the 19th century. The ideals and values of an American family life
varied from those after the revolution. American economy had relied heavily on agriculture and people
had a more personal work sphere. The government as well, was cautious when involving itself in the
nation s economic affairs. The Market Revolution overall played a big role in changing American
society, economy, and politics by fueling sectionalism, increasing commercialism, and forcing the
government to take on more responsibilities to benefit the nation. Society was one of the main
elements of America to be impacted by the Market Revolution. ... Show more content on

In general, the government helped promote and support businesses in order to advance the U.S. s
economy. Some examples would be the fact that they limited liability and incorporation laws using
charters to protect businesses, provided easy credit for loans, and supported entrepreneurs. This type
of involvement is what closely relates the changes in politics to the changes in economy. Most of the
government s involvement came through the American System. Developed by Congressman Henry
Clay, this system was meant to protect the U.S. industry with tariffs, initiate internal improvements,
and stabilize the economy. Clay s first part of the plan was to put protective tariffs primarily on
European goods. The total value of foreign exports to the U.S. escalated dramatically in only two
years, going from about $13 million (1814) to $151 million (1816). British goods had unbeatable
prices and the competition threatened to eliminate American businesses. In order to prevent this from
happening Clay decided to place taxes on imports which would ultimately raise European costs to
American consumers, shielding the U.S. so they could survive the competition. Now that Clay had
established a safer way to have the government support the U.S. s foreign affairs, his second part of
the system involved domestic improvement. By the 1820 s, the controversial issue on whether
Congress had the power to nationally finance roads, bridges, harbors, canals, and railroads had finally
eased up. Skeptics like Presidents James Madison and Monroe had finally softened up and agreed that
the government should play a larger role in building the nation s infrastructure (Politics in the Market
Revolution). They did this by making funds accessible to the states as well as coordinating the
projects, a good example

Borrelia Burgdorferi Research Paper
Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorfer, this bacterium is transmitted to humans
through ticks. Borrelia burgdorferi is a gram negative bacterium that belongs to the spirochetes class,
its usually 1um wide but can be up to 10 25um long. Some of the structures that Borrelia burgdorferi
have are the flagellum, which allows the bacterium to migrate through viscous fluids (i.e. blood) and
burrow through tissues, the bacterium also has outer surface proteins that are OspA and OspC which
play a direct role in the transmission of the bacteria into the host cell. Bacteria in general do not have
the limitations that viruses do, viruses must have a living host in order to reproduce. Most bacteria are
able to grow on non living surfaces and live intercellularly. Lyme disease is easy to identify because of
the bullseye that results from the tick bite infected with Borrelia burgdorfer. Viruses are extremely
unique to the microbial world they are the smallest and simplest microbe. Virions are only 20 400nm
in size, and they do not have any way to replicate outside the host cell. Viruses do not have a cell wall,

The Importance Of Electricity In Canada
Electricity has been here since the early 1900 s. When it started, there wasn t much demand for it due
to the fact that most people didn t have it in their houses, and that the only use for it was for light
bulbs. Then came heaters, stoves, followed by electric appliances and everything else that is powered
by electricity. Today the demand is so strong for electricity that have to find other ways how to
produce it. Currently Canada is the number one producer of electricity in the world. The United States
have to buy energy from Canada, because the demand is too strong. Our use of electricity is causing
problems to our planet so now is the perfect time to produce more solar panels.
Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels, also known as photovoltaics, are used to convert light
from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called photons , into electricity that can be
used to power electrical loads. Light from the sun is a renewable energy resource that provides clean
energy, produced by solar panels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Installing solar panels on your home helps combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduces our
collective dependence on fossil fuel. Traditional electricity is sourced from fossil fuels such as coal
and natural gas. When fossil fuels are burned to produce electricity, they emit harmful gases that are
the primary cause of air pollution and global warming. Solar City s carbon footprint per unit of energy
production is 95% lower than that of fossil fuel power plants. Not only are fossil fuels bad for the
environment, they re a finite resource. Limited availability creates a volatile market in which energy
prices can skyrocket in a short period of

Madre De Dios Latin America
Part A One environmental problem from Latin America/Caribbean is the deforestation of Madre de
Dios area in Peru (Naughton 2016). Madre de Dios contains large areas of forests and is famous for its
biodiversity in terms of animals and plants. Several causes contribute to this degradation according to
the case study. The building of a new highway makes this area more accessible for global markets.
The escalation of gold prices and Peru s shift to neoliberal economic policy makes this area more
appealing to opportunistic newcomers. These causes are similar in terms of their economic importance
and the time they took place. The highway makes transportation to this area more available and
creates more opportunities for economic development. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen historically in the form of colonialism as well (Marston et al 2016). Most countries in this
region have been colonized by some European powers at some time except for Thailand. Proximity
mattered during colonial period because the time it took to travel by sea used to be much longer.
Europe remains more powerful in this relationship because English remains as the one of the most
popular languages among this region and European investments are influential to many economies in
this area. Europe remains powerful because of its past and present economic influence in this area.
The second global connection is between mainland Southeast Asia and China (Marston et al 2016).
Southeast Asia has historically been the destination for many Chinese immigrants and is currently
under strong Chinese influence as well. The closeness between the two areas means that the
relationship is a strong bi directional one since any action one country takes can have profound impact
on its neighbors. China has more power in this relationship as seen in the case of the dam construction
on Mekong River. According to Mekong River Dams: Harnessing the Mekong or Killing it? (Nijhuis
2015), the people living in downstream riverbanks have to bear the cost of decreasing fish supply as a
side effect of the Chinese dams. China is more powerful mainly because of the geographic advantages

The Possiblities of Genetically Engineered Food
Genetically engineering food could be a viable possibility to ending the problem world hunger. There
are many advantages to this solution but there are also disadvantages. This paper will aim to show
both the advantages and disadvantages. I also hope to show the environmental impact that it could
have. What is genetically engineered food? Genetically engineered foods are created when genes from
plant and non plant species are modified and transferred to create a food species that has certain
desired effects such as being drought or pest resistant (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). When food is
genetically engineered in a lab the traits that are desired from the species can be obtained with great
accuracy (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Genes can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another threat to crop growth is herbicides, this is because it is sometimes more conventional for a
farmer to use them for weed control versus hand picking weeds (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Through
genetic engineering, scientists can develop crops that are herbicide resistant allowing farmers to use
herbicides to kill weeds and not damage the crops they are trying to grow (Whitman, Deborah, 2000).
This not only prevents crop loss due to herbicides, but it also reduces the amount of herbicides that are
needed which benefits the environment due to less agricultural waste being generated (Whitman,
Deborah, 2000). This is also beneficial economically because the farmer has less production costs and
these savings can also be passed down to the consumer (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Genetic
modification of food can also boost the nutritional value of food (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). In many
third world countries there is a rise in malnutrition, by boosting the nutritional value of crops this
could benefit these countries in that the people living there will have access to adequate nutrition
(Whitman, Deborah, 2000). It is also important to note that malnutrition can also be a problem in
developed countries as well, though there may be an abundance of food, the food often may lack
enough nutritional value to support optimum health (Health Worldnet, 2008). One example is rice,

Blow Movie Psychology
Based on a true story, Blow tells the story of the main character George Jung. George became one of
the largest if not the largest cocaine trafficker in the United States, because of the trafficking of Pablo
Escobar`s cocaine, it changed the face of America in the 1970s. Being business partners with Pablo
Escobar, George was never in short supply of the cocaine he was trafficking. As I watched the movie
and observed George`s addictive behavior, I realized that it started as a child and the first obsession
came in the form of money. George s parents were not wealthy and always fought over money this is
where as a young child George placed his values. George s deviant behavior started with smoking

George s manifestation of the disease of money and power was visible through his addiction to
cocaine and drugs, the drugs and drinking were just a symptom of George s disease. George was
married and as a result of his chemical addiction and way of life a baby girl was a direct result of that
marriage, according to George in the movie; it was the birth of his baby girl that would change George
s life. Gorge now wanted to clean up his life, stop trafficking cocaine and take care of his family, as
fate and the lifestyle would have it George went back to prison for having one last party put on by his
wife, in which all the current drug dealers were invited. Gorge`s release from prison put George into
an area that he was not used to, George had no money and George was broke. George made a promise
to his daughter earlier that he would never leave her but after going back to prison he broke the trust
he once had with her, after his release he spent a great deal of his time trying to amend that trust and
build his relationship back with his daughter. However, this was to no avail because George relapsed,
George did not relapsed to the chemical addiction but to the addition of inappropriate behavior. What I
have learned from this movie is that enough is never enough, George had the wealth and the power of
the underworld however, and it was this lifestyle that brought George to the end

The Argumensos Of Mario Savio s Free Speech Movement
On December 2nd, 1964, Mario Savio delivered his most famous speech on the steps of Sproul Hall
on the campus of UC Berkeley. His address, most famously known for it s passage on The Operation
of the Machine , called university students and TAs to participate in civil disobedience in order to
disrupt parts of the university s functioning. This effort was to show the administration that the
students were autonomous human beings, and not raw material to be bought by some client of the
University. The conflict between the administration and the students began with the banning of the
designated free speech area on campus. Students began to move closer to the heart of campus in
protest, setting up tables for organizations like FSM (the Free Speech Movement) in Sproul Plaza.
These actions resulted in the indefinite suspensions of Mario Savio and seven other students. In an
incident in which student protesters surrounded a police car and gave speeches atop it, the President of
the university, Clark Kerr, began negotiations with Savio and the students. However, Kerr shot down
the FSM s proposal for a committee, and tensions between the FSM and the administration increased
over the next month. FSM began to have rallies on the steps of Sproul Hall every day at noon in order
to put pressure on the administration to grant them their terms on the return of free speech areas. On
December 2nd at one of these rallies, Mario Savio delivered his speech. The most memorable lines
were as follows: There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so
sick at heart, that you can t take part; you can t even passively take part, and you ve got to put your
bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you ve got to
make it stop! And you ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless
you re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all! (2). The appeal to pathos in this
passage, and throughout the whole speech, is Savio s referring to himself and the other students as part
of a machine that they don t intend to be a part of. They are treated unfairly by the administration, the
machine , and are

Performance evaluations are a very important part of a business organization and places promotion
and retain ability in the hands of the worker. According to Robbins and Judge, Evaluations provide
input into important decisions such as promotions, transfers, and terminations. Evaluations also

to conduct performance evaluations such as behaviorally anchored rating scales (BARS), critical

This is a measuring that is not an exact measuring tool and is relative. It is based on comparing group

method that ranks orders employees from best to worst. (pg.599 2009). This is evident in the EPR
system as there are quotas on the ranking system and how many people can achieve each rating and in
turn is a forced comparison and also group comparison as each rank is split into a group. This system
has gone through many changes and continues to change based on necessity. No one evaluation
system is better than the other and that is why I believe they use the current system as it employs
multiple systems for the annual evaluations. From scripture 2 Corinthians 8:10 11, And here is my

Examine urbanization in India with specific reference to urban infrastructure provisioning.
Introduction
One third of India s total population lives in town and city and it is expected to increase half by
reaching 2025. It is also one of the greater facts that around 60 % of city urban population lives in
slums and this also will definitely grow to a larger by 2025. There are reasons to it such as inadequate
economic position; inadequate finance and lack of transparency in governance and service
provisioning are identified as the root cause of slums growth in urban areas of India. In most of the

(Anderson, 19664). India s urbanization is least in compared to other countries of the world
urbanization took place very late, between 1951 to 2001, the level of urbanization increased by only
13%, however if we see the census of the country we can see the rise of population in every decade.
More than 2 /3rd populations of India lives in urban agglomerations, agglomeration are those regions
which has population greater than one million. Now the country is facing the rural urban migration in
a large extent. Rural population are migrating to urban areas in search of jobs, majority among them
were unskilled so they get into unorganized sector in the form of labour work force. The cities are
developing in constructing new houses malls, buildings, MNCs Multiplexes, Metros, Roads etc but the
workers involved in this gets very less in return, as they fall under lower level of income group and
hence they are bound to live in slums of the city that is one of the reason slums are un expectangely
getting higher in cities.

practice of the district to offer a fully asynchronous learning environment in which there is no

assumption that this is done in an attempt to make the online learning courses accommodating for

Research Paper On The Tajiks Of Afghanistan
The Tajiks of Afghanistan
The country of Afghanistan has gone through decades of war but still has much history to it, such as
the many different ethnic tribes it has. Afghanistan holds many ethnic tribes including Pashtuns,
Tajiks, Hazaras, Turkmen, and many other minorities. After the Pashtuns, The Tajiks hold up 27% of
the population but their way of life, their history, and their unique food makes them very different
from the rest of Afghanistan.
Afghans of Tajik ethnicity usually reside in the northeast and west of Afghanistan as well as being
Persian speaking Sunni Muslims. Because of their Muslim faith, most of the the Tajiks traditions and

The Fight for Social Justice Essay
It has been proven that often, the fight for social justice and the common good comes at a great cost to
those involved. Through writings such as Dr. Martin Luther King s Letter from a Birmingham Jail and
Sophocles Antigone , as well as, lectures such as Dr.Colbourn s lecture Confronting History and the
Good Life: Life after Rosewood it is demonstrated how life, freedom, and a normal everyday life
suffer as a cost of fighting for social justice and the common good. To begin with, Dr. Martin Luther

In the end, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. paid the ultimate cost when fighting for social justice and the
common good, with his life. On April 4th, 1963, he was assassinated by someone who didn t like him
and the cause he was fighting for. Although Dr. King lost his life, his actions resulted in a better life
for African Americans in terms of equality and social justice. Moreover, Sophocles Antigone shows
how freedom, life, and a normal everyday life was the cost of fighting for social justice and the
common good. In attempt to give her brother Polyneices the appropriate burial, chaos erupts in the
kingdom of Thebes. Antigone wanted to honor her brother and the gods by burying her brother even
though it was against the wishes of King Creon. Antigone knew her punishment would be death, but
she did not care. Antigone was willing to risk her life in order to do what she felt was right. In regards
to freedom, Antigone s arrest and exile were both costs of her fight for social justice and the common
good. Antigone s fight for the common good affected her life as well as the lives of those around her.
Her fiancé Haimon tried to fight for a good life for himself and Antigone by going against his father s
word. In the end, Haimon took his life as a result of Antigone s death and his mother Eurydike
committed suicide as a result of Haimon s death.

Erik Erikson s Stages Of Human Development
Erik Erikson is most famously known for his eight stages of human development. As a former student
of Freud, Erikson was interested in the going ons of early childhood development and what the
outcomes can be. With such an interest came his eight stages, each with a positive outcome and a
negative outcome, depending on the environment in which the individual develops. The first five
stages are the ones that are dependent a lot on how a parent reacts with their child, considering it
covers the first 18 year of life. The first five stages are the ones which will be discussed concerning
baby Jude. Jude was born 7 pounds 3 ounces on August 4 2019. At the beginning of his life, Jude will
begin to either develop trust or mistrust, the first stage of Erikson s development. This stage occurs
during the first year of life when Jude has needs that he has to rely on his parents for. When Jude cries,
he must be cared to to see if he needs feeding, changing, or simply to be held. Should his parents
attend to his needs in a timely and consistent manner, Jude will develop trust and begin to take that
trust into future relationships and situations, trusting that things will be okay. If Jude is left to cry
himself to sleep time and again and doesn t get the care or attention he needs, Jude will develop
mistrust, which will lead to fear in future relationships and endeavors. This first stage is a crucial stage
to set up because without this as a foundation, Jude cannot continue to grow in

Congenital Disorders With Intellectual Disability
Chapter Five
5. Discussion
Congenital disorders with intellectual disability (ID) constitute a particularly significant medical
problem because of the high prevalence and life long care that patients will need. The extreme genetic
heterogeneity of ID is a major problem for pre and postnatal diagnosis. In some cases, however, early
detection of a mutation may be important to prevent the manifestation of the handicap (Avbelj et al.
2007). Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the most frequent causes of preventable ID, which
can be averted by administering thyroid hormone in early postnatal life. This is achieved by newborn
screening detection.
Congenital hypothyroidism fulfills most of the criteria for disease screening as set out by Wilson and
Jungner (Wilson and Jungner 1968), in fact CH is four to five times more common than
Phenylketonuria for which newborn screening was initially developed (Chiesa, Rivolta, Targovnik,
Gruneiro Papendieck 2010).
Detection of CH by neonatal screening has been a major achievement because early diagnosis and
treatment result in normal development in nearly all cases. An additional benefit of neonatal screening
has been the elucidation of the incidence of CH as well as the prevalence of its various causes.
The incidence rate of CH is approximately 1 of 3000/4000 new births worldwide (Calaciura, Miscio,
Coco, Leonardi, Cisternino, Regalbuto, Bozzali, Maiorana, Ranieri, Carta, Buscema, Trischitta, Sava,

Traditional Methods For Evaluating The Capital Investments...
Answer 1
Suggest a methodology to supplement the traditional methods for evaluating the capital investments of
your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Provide a rationale for your suggested
methodology.
Net present value in conjunction with internal rate of return are the best methods for evaluating the
capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk.
Net Present Value (NPV) is the difference between the present value of cash inflows and the present
value of cash outflows. NPV is used in capital budgeting to analyse the profitability of a projected
investment or project. A positive net present value indicates that the projected earnings generated by a
project or investment (in present dollars) exceeds the anticipated costs (also in present dollars).
Generally, an investment with a positive NPV will be a profitable one and one with a negative NPV
will result in a net loss. This concept dictates that the only investments that should be made are those
with positive NPV values.
Determining the value of a project is challenging because there are different ways to measure the
value of future cash flows. Because of the time value of money (TVM), money in the present is worth
more than the same amount in the future. This is both because of earnings that could potentially be
made using the money during the intervening time and because of inflation. In other words, a dollar
earned in the future won t be worth as much as one

Retrograde Amnesia And Memory Loss
Memory loss is seen all over the world. About forty percent of people over 65 in the United States
experience memory impairment in their life which is about sixteen million people (Small. 2002).
Memory loss is the inability to remember events that happened to you, or events that were important
to you. Memory loss is different than forgetting someone s birthday, the forgetfulness has to be more
severe and last for a long amount of time, and it has to be major events that may strike odd to the
person that they have forgotten the event. Memory loss is known mostly for the elderly, which can be

be caused by a mixture of environmental issues, lifestyle choices, and genetics. When a person gets
Alzheimer s the person starts to lose brain cells, which causes the brain to start to shrink and it affects
the parts of the brain that are in control of a person s memory. Some brain defects that are a tell tale
sign of Alzheimer s would be tangles and plaques. Tangles are the twisting of tau proteins, which
affect the transport system in the brain. Plaques are clumps of beta amyloids that affect cell to cell

The Corruption Of Saddam Hussein
Throughout history corruption has been laid upon many countries changing it in numerous ways. This
corruption derives through certain people, creating a havoc for those having to follow orders set by
leaders they blindly follow. In Iraq, citizens have been tortured, forced to relocate their families,
arrested and murdered. All of this happened under the control of Saddam Hussein and we have neither
found, nor did he offer an explanation to these actions. He has been notorious for attacking people
who disagreed with his opinions, especially other politicians that would give any sort of competition
to access leadership for Iraq. He is responsible for persecuting and denying his own citizens human
rights. Not only physically but financially, spending all of the countries money on monuments and
palaces as he watches his people die from malnutrition and lack of medical attention.
Saddam Hussein was born on April 28, 1937 in a village called Ouja, near Tikrit in Northern Iraq, He
grew up in a broken home, His family was poor, they were peasants who did not have a home. He
grew up without a father, it is unknown if his father died or disappeared when he was younger. When
he was still a child, he was sent to live with his uncle, Khairallah Tulfah, who made a deep impact on
what Hussein later did in his life. There is proof that Saddam was connected to violence at an early
age. There are several reports that link him to the murders of a school teacher and/or a

Main Themes Of Dissatisfaction In The Mayor Of Casterbridge
The Mayor of Casterbridge has two main themes. One theme is dissatisfaction, which is a main reason
when the characters end relationships with each other. The other theme is the indelibility of the past.
Some characters had long term effects when their past was learned by other characters. People were
not forgiven for their past as easy in the early nineteenth as they are today. The author used these
themes very well, for people to assert into their life.
Dissatisfaction is very major in The Mayor of Casterbridge because many relationships are broken and
mended in the book. Those characters are dissatisfied with their current state of being, so they move
on to a different stage in their life, which can lead to other relationships being repaired. The author is
teaching the readers to move on, if something in their life is dissatisfying them.
One example of a character being dissatisfied is when Newson fakes his death because he knows
Susan is not satisfied and wants to go back to Michael Henchard. Susan found out that she didn t have
to stay with Newson, so she wanted to go back to Henchard. Susan became unpleasant to be around,
and Newson knew she wanted to go back to Henchard. On page 288, in The Mayor of Casterbridge,
Newson says Since I m here, here I ll bide, I thought to myself; twill be most kindness to her, now she
s taken against me, to let her believe me lost; for, I thought while she supposes us both alive she ll be
miserable; but if she thinks me dead she ll go back to him, and the child will have a home. Newson
faked his death to satisfy Susan and bring happiness in her life.
When Lucetta met Farfrae, she became dissatisfied with Henchard. To Lucetta, Farfrae was a younger
and better version of Henchard. Lucetta was going to marry Henchard, but she knew that she should
would not be happy with him. Lucetta also found out about Henchard s past, and she was dissatisfied
with the way he treated his first wife. On page 209, Lucetta says I learnt of the rumor that you had ⎯

Lucetta knew she was not going to be satisfied with Henchard if she married him, so she moved on

United States Army and Respect
Respect
RESPECT HAS BEEN a distinctive US Army value since 1778 when Frederick William
Baron von Steuben noted that a US officer.s first objective should be to treat his men .with every
possible kindness and humanity..1 So it was not surprising when the US Army identified respect as
oneof its seven values. In 1998 respect language gave the Army a powerful way to organize ongoing
discussions about discrimination and harassment.2 The previous year.s headlines had been filled with
allegations of appalling violations of respect. The inclusion of respect as a value along with loyalty,
duty, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage sent a strong message that respect for
others should be an integral part of US Army leadership. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you want others to give you respect, you must first learn how to give respect yourself. There is a lot
of ways to respect a person or people, there are a lot of definitions to define respect: To feel or show
definite regard for; esteem. To avoid violation of or interference with: respect the speed limit. To relate
or refer to; concern . relation or reference, esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person,
a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or
ability, deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to
have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment, the condition of
being esteemed or honored, a formal expression or gesture of greeting, esteem, or friendship, favor or
partiality. Another one is to respect their rules, feelings, their personal space or bubble. There are
many other forms of respect. Respect is created in many ways. It is created when people treat others as
they want to be treated. So the growth of something, such as respect, often nourishes itself from its
own process and dynamics. Being the first to accord respect, and with time, it will develop amongst
all the conflicting parties. Avoid insulting people or how they feel about certain situations. Instead try
to understand them. Many disastrous interactions are characterized by attitudes

Summary Of The Father Of Inklings By George Macdonald
Widely considered to be the Father of the Inklings, George MacDonald s works are bound to be
profound. After all, nobody as inspired as C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien could have been intellectually
influenced by just anybody. In this particular essay, MacDonald ventures toward defining fairytales.
Within that goal, MacDonald identifies and explores two aspects of fairytales he finds crucial:
lawfulness and the capacity for open interpretation. The main assertion that MacDonald makes is that
fairytales can never be fully defined. They don t have a nice and simple definition, and those who try
to give them one are bound to degrade or simplify some aspects. In order to make the breadth of
complexities clear, he draws a comparison between attempting to define fairytales and trying to
describe a human being. There are just too many aspects to state, and it s essentially impossible to
fully cover everything in a common definition like structure without some sort of simplification. Not
wanting to do fairytales such an injustice, he makes clear that he will touch on only some of the
aspects of fairytales in the remainder of his essay. With the establishment of that point, MacDonald
then goes on to explore the concept of lawfulness as a crucial part in fairytales. According to him,
fairytales must include a system of laws, for nothing lawless can show the least reason why it should
exist, or could at best have more than an appearance of life (2). Therefore, if one were to create

Evaluation Of A Team Training Program
If I were the coach of a softball team and had to formulate a pre season, in season, and post season
work out program I would start by making a list for each to stay on track. For pre season, things I
would bullet point would be; running, weight training, skill specific sessions and learning strategies.
Next would be for in season practices and this is going to be my maintenance phase. Last is the post
season part that is focusing on getting ready for the next year so I would bullet point these topics;
weight training, running, skill specific practices, and leave room for participation in other sports as
well. A pre season training program should start 8 12 weeks prior to the first competition date (Powers
2012). This part of the season is to increase energy systems used in this particular sport to their
maximum potential. With my softball team in a pre season session, I would start with weight training
and running to increase each individual player s strength and endurance. Strength and endurance
training should be done on alternating days to optimize strength gains but can be done together
depending on what the coach is trying to accomplish. According to Powers, if these two types of
training are done together, there may be a lower gain in strength than with only strength training itself.

Once hearing that Valentine had been poison, the Count states, What is it to me? (Dumas, 517). This
shows that the Count is a new person indeed, since if it was Edmond Dantes, he would have sprung up

people. If Edmond Dantes was still living up to his birth name, he would not have acted and said these

Lord Byron, one of the major poets of England during the Romantic Period (1785 1830), epitomized
the essence of this movement of literature because Romanticism was flourishing in the arts. In
painting, literature, and music, one of the great Romantic obsessions was the ancient past ( The

most of the characteristics, such as She Walks in Beauty and The Destruction of the Sennacherib. Lord

through the contradictions (between the classical and romantic style) of the age and for the first time
reconciles them.
Musical Form of the Work The symphony consists of four movements. The first movement, Allegro
vivace, is in sonata form. In the first theme (Ex.1), many sequences were used to construct the melody.
And being inspired by Italian opera, Mendelssohn here tired to delay the closure of the theme as much
as possible. While the second theme, it shares the similar materials as the first theme. In the
development section, although a new theme appears, it consists of some materials of the first theme.
Then, all these three themes appear again in the recapitulation, creating a sense of unity.
Ex. 1 Opening theme of the first movement The second movement, Andante con moto, however has
two main different interpretations that it could be analyzed as song form or sonata form. The third
movement, Con moto moderato, was composed in form of minuet and trio. Finally, for the finale,
which consists of the Roman saltarello and the Neapolitan tarantella dance rhythm, contains
characteristics of both sonata and rondo form.
How does the piece fit into the orchestral literature of the 19th century? First and foremost, the piece
reflects the development of the clarinet that its role in the orchestra became more and

Black Theater By William Henry Brown
1.) During 1821 and 1926 Black Theater is determined in two different definitions. The first definition
for Black Theater came about in 1821, and in Manhattan by the American Grove Theater founded by
William Henry Brown. The definition for black theater was created by African Americans, for African
American audience and about topics that are important to the African American community. At this
point in time, African Americans were enslaved throughout America. African Americans did not have
much rights, so the definition created by African Americans was significant to show that they have a
voice too, for African American audience and about topics that are important to the African American
community can be depicted so that African Americans could rise up and overcome the Slavery system.
This definition could have been geared towards African Americans being hopeful or having something
to be happy about. Most significantly, for all African Americans coming together to see these
playwrights would educate black people and hopefully inspire them to create better lives for
themselves together. Slavery and racial discrimination towards blacks has to be the most that
contributed to this definition.
The other definition was created in 1926 by W.E.B Du Bois through the Krigwa players in Harlem.
This definition for black theater was for, by, about, near us. The Harlem Renaissance Movement is
taking place during this time and contributes to the change in definition. The Harlem

much of the novel, the narrator finds his safety in the Hempstocks home as they shield him from

how the narrator is constantly trapped between the familiar and the complete unknown. Ursula begins
to bring the supernatural world into the narrator s life. Throughout The Ocean at the End of the Lane,
Gaiman explores the life of a young boy who is constantly battling the supernatural world. The
narrator discovers gates and portals that either shield him from danger or expose him to the
supernatural world and all it holds. The narrator grew up lonely, he never had any friends, he was not
outgoing, and he found solemn and comfort in reading books. In the beginning of the novel, the
narrator begins to identify himself with his childhood and how he grew up. The Hempstock women
become a shield for the narrator as he tries to defend himself from the ever changing supernatural

The book code talker, written by Joseph Bruchac, biased on the historically fictionalized story of Neds Begay s life. Ned as a child, is herded into the extremely deprecative atmosphere, of boarding school. Ned, eventually goes on to fight for the same country that implemented him into the hardship he was forced to endure; at the same time making friends that would be so loyal as to sacrifice themselves for him. • 3. The Effects Of Obesity On Today s Youth In the past couple of years there has been an uproar about American health. People are starting to take notice of the fact that American citizens are getting fatter and fatter every day. Recently, there have been many documentaries about obesity in today s youth. Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don t solve this problem, one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others will face chronic obesity related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma. Children are gaining more weight and everyone thinks it is because of technology and the lack of outdoor play. That could be the reason, but it can also be something entirely different. America is known for their big meals and fattening fast food. There are fast food restaurants around every corner and it is cheap so this also contributes to the obesity rate rising. Americans are known to other countries as the fat ones . They stereotype Americans as these fat and lazy people who only think about themselves. America is the second country with the most obese people, following closely behind Mexico. Obesity is at its all time high and the government is slowly taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Secret And Forbidden Love In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The... Jordan Hendrickson Mr. Foster AP English 11 2nd period December 15, 2017 Title Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The Scarlet Letter is a story of secret and forbidden love as well as the cause and effect of this forbidden love, the setting is a Puritan colony in Boston, Massachusetts around 1750. The main character Hester Prynne, a God fearing Puritan living within this community, gets caught in the act of adultery when she is discovered to be with child whilst having no husband. During this era, the punishment for adultery forced the adulteress or adulterer to wear a scarlet letter A upon their bosom. While staying in prison, following the discovery of her sin, Hester gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, which she named Pearl. Although some may choose to look upon pearl as a gift from the devil, or as a rotten curse, Pearl grows to become a reflection of both individual and collective human conscience, a personification of the scarlet letter, and a symbol of light. Pearl represents a physical form of many character s consciences throughout the novel. For instance, she is the voice of the collective conscience within her community when she points the crooked finger at Hester in the forest. Everywhere Hester goes, Pearl must follow and so she is a constant reminder to Hester that she must wear the scarlet letter at all times, while on their walk in Chapter 16, Pearl tells her mother that the sunshine does not (274) love her and it runs away and hides itself (274)because it is afraid of the letter. However, after Hester has cast off the letter A Pearl refuses to come to her. Pearl often highlights and brings attention to Hester s scarlet letter by inquiring about its purpose, this shows that while she may represent the conscience of those around her, she is still a little girl trying to understand the world around her. Pearl is not only of manifestation of a community conscience but she is most importantly a physical manifestation of Arthur Dimmesdale s conscience. She sees most clearly his inner desires and she is attracted to him from the beginning. During their first encounter when Pearl is still practically a newborn, she reaches for Dimmesdale, and while he notices he does not give any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Deadly Force As the Court said in the case of Tennessee v. Garner, police use of deadly force to apprehend a fleeing felon from the scene of a residential burglary does not exceed the constitutional limits (Brody Acker, 2010). I believe that limiting the power of the police to use deadly force makes the officers job more difficult. Limiting the power makes the officers job more dangerous from the point of the suspect knowing the officer is unable to respond correctly to a situation. If an officer is unable to use the force necessary for certain situations, it not only endangers the officer s life but the lives of citizens around them. The officer s ability to assist the public may also be limited. Why would the public want to call the police who will be unable to use deadly force to assist them? • 6. Market Revolution Dbq Insert Title Before the Market Revolution, America as a whole differed greatly from the America that had developed during the start of the 19th century. The ideals and values of an American family life varied from those after the revolution. American economy had relied heavily on agriculture and people had a more personal work sphere. The government as well, was cautious when involving itself in the nation s economic affairs. The Market Revolution overall played a big role in changing American society, economy, and politics by fueling sectionalism, increasing commercialism, and forcing the government to take on more responsibilities to benefit the nation. In general, the government helped promote and support businesses in order to advance the U.S. s economy. Some examples would be the fact that they limited liability and incorporation laws using charters to protect businesses, provided easy credit for loans, and supported entrepreneurs. This type of involvement is what closely relates the changes in politics to the changes in economy. Most of the government s involvement came through the American System. Developed by Congressman Henry Clay, this system was meant to protect the U.S. industry with tariffs, initiate internal improvements, and stabilize the economy. Clay s first part of the plan was to put protective tariffs primarily on European goods. The total value of foreign exports to the U.S. escalated dramatically in only two years, going from about $13 million (1814) to $151 million (1816). British goods had unbeatable prices and the competition threatened to eliminate American businesses. In order to prevent this from happening Clay decided to place taxes on imports which would ultimately raise European costs to American consumers, shielding the U.S. so they could survive the competition. Now that Clay had established a safer way to have the government support the U.S. s foreign affairs, his second part of the system involved domestic improvement. By the 1820 s, the controversial issue on whether Congress had the power to nationally finance roads, bridges, harbors, canals, and railroads had finally eased up. Skeptics like Presidents James Madison and Monroe had finally softened up and agreed that the government should play a larger role in building the nation s infrastructure (Politics in the Market Revolution). Borrelia burgdorferi is a gram negative bacterium that belongs to the spirochetes class, its usually 1um wide but can be up to 10 25um long. Some of the structures that Borrelia burgdorferi have are the flagellum, which allows the bacterium to migrate through viscous fluids (i.e. blood) and burrow through tissues, the bacterium also has outer surface proteins that are OspA and OspC which play a direct role in the transmission of the bacteria into the host cell. Bacteria in general do not have the limitations that viruses do, viruses must have a living host in order to reproduce. Most bacteria are able to grow on non living surfaces and live intercellularly. When it started, there wasn t much demand for it due to the fact that most people didn t have it in their houses, and that the only use for it was for light bulbs. Then came heaters, stoves, followed by electric appliances and everything else that is powered by electricity. Today the demand is so strong for electricity that have to find other ways how to produce it. Currently Canada is the number one producer of electricity in the world. The United States have to buy energy from Canada, because the demand is too strong. Our use of electricity is causing problems to our planet so now is the perfect time to produce more solar panels. Solar energy begins with the sun. Genetically engineered foods are created when genes from plant and non plant species are modified and transferred to create a food species that has certain desired effects such as being drought or pest resistant (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). When food is genetically engineered in a lab the traits that are desired from the species can be obtained with great accuracy (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Genes can ... Another threat to crop growth is herbicides, this is because it is sometimes more conventional for a farmer to use them for weed control versus hand picking weeds (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Through genetic engineering, scientists can develop crops that are herbicide resistant allowing farmers to use herbicides to kill weeds and not damage the crops they are trying to grow (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). This not only prevents crop loss due to herbicides, but it also reduces the amount of herbicides that are needed which benefits the environment due to less agricultural waste being generated (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). This is also beneficial economically because the farmer has less production costs and these savings can also be passed down to the consumer (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). Genetic modification of food can also boost the nutritional value of food (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). In many third world countries there is a rise in malnutrition, by boosting the nutritional value of crops this could benefit these countries in that the people living there will have access to adequate nutrition (Whitman, Deborah, 2000). It is also important to note that malnutrition can also be a problem in developed countries as well, though there may be an abundance of food, the food often may lack enough nutritional value to support optimum health (Health Worldnet, 2008). • 13. The Argumensos Of Mario Savio s Free Speech Movement On December 2nd, 1964, Mario Savio delivered his most famous speech on the steps of Sproul Hall on the campus of UC Berkeley. His address, most famously known for it s passage on The Operation of the Machine , called university students and TAs to participate in civil disobedience in order to disrupt parts of the university s functioning. This effort was to show the administration that the students were autonomous human beings, and not raw material to be bought by some client of the University. The conflict between the administration and the students began with the banning of the designated free speech area on campus. Students began to move closer to the heart of campus in protest, setting up tables for organizations like FSM (the Free Speech Movement) in Sproul Plaza. These actions resulted in the indefinite suspensions of Mario Savio and seven other students. In an incident in which student protesters surrounded a police car and gave speeches atop it, the President of the university, Clark Kerr, began negotiations with Savio and the students. However, Kerr shot down the FSM s proposal for a committee, and tensions between the FSM and the administration increased over the next month. FSM began to have rallies on the steps of Sproul Hall every day at noon in order to put pressure on the administration to grant them their terms on the return of free speech areas. On December 2nd at one of these rallies, Mario Savio delivered his speech. The most memorable lines were as follows: There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can t take part; you can t even passively take part, and you ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you ve got to make it stop! And you ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all! (2). Recently thin film solar cells as a substitute for traditional crystalline silicon cells, it has up to 21.5 percent of the photoelectric conversion efficiency, while its production cost is only one third of the crystalline silicon cells or even one third [2]. And Darmstadt Integrated System for SOLarcell research(DAISY SOL) was used to determine the thin film deposition of the CdS and CdTe individually. And the CdS deposition was double layer structure, the first layer was deposited at high temperature in range of 520 to 540 °C, while the second layer was deposited at 250 °C. And for the CdTe layer, was deposited under vacuum condition, in order to minimize the likelihood of pinhole formation. And it also formed 2 layers under 490 530 °C and 350 °C individually [2]. Dektak profilometer was used to measure the film thickness. And the thickness is the total thickness of the double layer structure CdTe films. • 26. Congenital Disorders With Intellectual Disability Chapter Five 5. Discussion Congenital disorders with intellectual disability (ID) constitute a particularly significant medical problem because of the high prevalence and life long care that patients will need. The extreme genetic heterogeneity of ID is a major problem for pre and postnatal diagnosis. In some cases, however, early detection of a mutation may be important to prevent the manifestation of the handicap (Avbelj et al. 2007). Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the most frequent causes of preventable ID, which can be averted by administering thyroid hormone in early postnatal life. This is achieved by newborn screening detection. Congenital hypothyroidism fulfills most of the criteria for disease screening as set out by Wilson and Jungner (Wilson and Jungner 1968), in fact CH is four to five times more common than Phenylketonuria for which newborn screening was initially developed (Chiesa, Rivolta, Targovnik, Gruneiro Papendieck 2010). Detection of CH by neonatal screening has been a major achievement because early diagnosis and treatment result in normal development in nearly all cases. An additional benefit of neonatal screening has been the elucidation of the incidence of CH as well as the prevalence of its various causes. The incidence rate of CH is approximately 1 of 3000/4000 new births worldwide (Calaciura, Miscio, Coco, Leonardi, Cisternino, Regalbuto, Bozzali, Maiorana, Ranieri, Carta, Buscema, Trischitta, Sava, Tassi 2002). • 27. Traditional Methods For Evaluating The Capital Investments... Answer 1 Suggest a methodology to supplement the traditional methods for evaluating the capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Provide a rationale for your suggested methodology. Net present value in conjunction with internal rate of return are the best methods for evaluating the capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Net Present Value (NPV) is the difference between the present value of cash inflows and the present value of cash outflows. NPV is used in capital budgeting to analyse the profitability of a projected investment or project. A positive net present value indicates that the projected earnings generated by a project or investment (in present dollars) exceeds the anticipated costs (also in present dollars). Generally, an investment with a positive NPV will be a profitable one and one with a negative NPV will result in a net loss. This concept dictates that the only investments that should be made are those with positive NPV values. Determining the value of a project is challenging because there are different ways to measure the value of future cash flows. Because of the time value of money (TVM), money in the present is worth more than the same amount in the future. This is both because of earnings that could potentially be made using the money during the intervening time and because of inflation. In other words, a dollar earned in the future won t be worth as much as one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Corruption Of Saddam Hussein Throughout history corruption has been laid upon many countries changing it in numerous ways. This corruption derives through certain people, creating a havoc for those having to follow orders set by leaders they blindly follow. In Iraq, citizens have been tortured, forced to relocate their families, arrested and murdered. All of this happened under the control of Saddam Hussein and we have neither found, nor did he offer an explanation to these actions. He has been notorious for attacking people who disagreed with his opinions, especially other politicians that would give any sort of competition to access leadership for Iraq. He is responsible for persecuting and denying his own citizens human rights. • 34. Summary Of The Father Of Inklings By George Macdonald Widely considered to be the Father of the Inklings, George MacDonald s works are bound to be profound. After all, nobody as inspired as C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien could have been intellectually influenced by just anybody. In this particular essay, MacDonald ventures toward defining fairytales. Within that goal, MacDonald identifies and explores two aspects of fairytales he finds crucial: lawfulness and the capacity for open interpretation. The main assertion that MacDonald makes is that fairytales can never be fully defined. They don t have a nice and simple definition, and those who try to give them one are bound to degrade or simplify some aspects. In order to make the breadth of complexities clear, he draws a comparison between attempting to define fairytales and trying to describe a human being. There are just too many aspects to state, and it s essentially impossible to fully cover everything in a common definition like structure without some sort of simplification. Not wanting to do fairytales such an injustice, he makes clear that he will touch on only some of the aspects of fairytales in the remainder of his essay. With the establishment of that point, MacDonald then goes on to explore the concept of lawfulness as a crucial part in fairytales. According to him, fairytales must include a system of laws, for nothing lawless can show the least reason why it should exist, or could at best have more than an appearance of life (2).
