Rhetorical Devices In Emma s Speech Essay
and are caused by difference. Then she brings up religion to ask the jury if they would arrest Jesus for
almost the same crime she has had commited. Additionally, she goes off to pay a Thousand times no!
But we refuse to be tried on a trumped up charge, or to be convicted by perjured testimony, merely
because we are Anarchists and hated by the class whom we have openly fought for many years.
(Goldman 5). Goldman lets the jury now that she is not guilty and that she will not accept being guilty
for something she didn t do. Emma will not back down, and will continue to be an anarchist. Equally

For example goldman frequently uses Gentlemen of the jury (Goldman 1). Emma uses this phrase
throughout the speech to be respectful and put the men of the jury on a higher level. She uses this
phrase constantly which makes the audience hear her talk about her case because she shows respect.
Uniquely, she uses the paradox I can no more do it, nor have I the to, than the physician who were to
condemn the patient for his disease. (Goldman 4). Emma says this because she compares the jury of
the physician and the patient herself and hw giving her medicine, which in her case jail time without
knowing what she did. She argues this because she shifts the blame to the current political structure of
the nation which reveals that it is flawed. With this in mind, she asks the jury when we have no
democracy here? Shall free speech and free assemblage, shall criticism and opinion which even the
espionage bill did not include be destroyed? Shall it be a shadow of the past, the great historic
American past? Or shall free speech and free press and free assemblage continue to eb heritage of the
american people? (Goldman 9). When this is asked it leaves us with her beliefs that America s
democracy might be broken and it needs radical repairs. Emma puts America s democracy in trial in
her place and picks out all the flaws in it, which

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Data Storage
Data Storage: Data storage is the 3rd phase in big data analytic. This stage provides the platform that
manages all the assembled information in a way that it can be further analyzed and information can be
retrieved. There are two features provided at this platform: The information gathered are
infrequently accessed and cannot be modified further. The data gathered must be consistent and stable
data. The control repository layer provides an interface for querying, analyzing a large amount of
data. 2.1.1 Data storage components: The components of data storage environment are hardware
infrastructure and data management. 2.1.1.1 Hardware infrastructure: It refers to the set of all the

databses cannot process large amount of data. To overcome this disadvantage of RDBMS Nosql has
been put into use because of its certain advantages: increased flexibility, scalability and customization.
There are 3 types of Nosql databases: Key value stores: It has a hash table which consists of a
primary key and a pointer to the particular data in the database. Amazon Dynamo is one of the most
common key values for Nosql database. Column oriented databases: In this data is stored in column

from big table. Document databases: It is more complex than key value stores. Document databases
includes simpleDB, mongoDB and couchDB. Other Nosql and hybrid databases: Apart from the
traditional databases and the Nosql databases various hybrid data stores have been introduced such as

The Role Of Associate In Nursing
Earth as we all know it s Associate in Nursing improbably complicated and fragile network of
interconnected systems that have developed slowly over the last four.5 billion years more or less.
From the ashes of the massive Bang, this planet emerged as a mass of energy and components. From
that new born mass of energy and components evolved structured, dynamic systems of solids, liquids,
and gasses. The evolution of this planet continued to unfold over billions of years in such a novel
method that eventually conditions arose with the flexibility to foster life.

Internal Contradiction Of Capitalism Analysis
Capitalism is not a rigid, inflexible economic and political system there are many forms of capitalism
around the world. It is illustrated as being different variations of capitalism outside the United States;
there is the Dutch version, the French version, the British version, as well as the American version.
American capitalism implements free market ideology and that makes the U.S. stand out among other
nations. Other nations do not dwell on privatization and deregulation nearly as much as the U.S.,
which is both a major strength and critique of American capitalism. One critique of American
capitalism is the Five Internal Contradiction of Capitalism. These contradictions include inevitable
growth of monopolies, demand labor saving technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The answer does not have to be socialism or any other economic policy, but reform is necessary to
save the lives of millions of Americans currently suffering in poverty. The current economic and
political policies are creating class inequality so dramatic that families cannot survive no matter how
hard they work. That is not the American Dream children learn in social studies classes year after year.
Students in the United States grow up learning about the many accomplishments the country has made
over the centuries and that in the United States, the right amount of drive and determination can
guarantee success. Coming out of high school and college, young adults learn fast that establishing a
life in the United States is difficult without reliable resources to aid them in becoming independent.
That is not feasible when the majority of wealth is only available to the upper class. There is not
enough wealth to create opportunities for everyone to thrive and those at the bottom suffer for just not
being fortunate enough. They are not given the same opportunities and are preyed upon for being
gullible and desperate for cash. In reality, it shows that those who are at the

A Recommendation For Worldwide Governance
Recommendation for Worldwide Governance
Due to the global implications of some decisions made by Volkswagen, governing boards should
strengthen their impact on worldwide automakers by working in conjunction with other countries in
enforcing needed global regulations. If the impact of a product is global, then governance leadership
of that product should also be at a global scale. Collaboration may never be achieved globally, but
major consuming countries working in conjunction to enforce needed regulations, can make the same
impact. In the case of the VW emission scandal, several countries are assisting in holding Volkswagen
accountable but each country is performing their own investigation and requiring Volkswagen to
correct the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If standards are uniform, it would allow for concentrated research and development of vehicles that
would benefit the world. Understanding that not all nations will participate, the most influential and
largest consuming nations will be empowered by the benefit of consolidated and uniform rules.
Imposing Worldwide Environmental Penalties
If emission standards and other vehicle operating regulations are globalized, then the penalties implied
on car makers should also be globalized. The impact would be immediately greater, making
compliance so much more important. Violations, such as the emission deception, do impact the entire
world, therefore, penalties should also be at a higher unified level to assist with resolution and re
standardization when needed. A global voice will be much more powerful, moreover, the additional
worldwide penalties would not eliminate or reduce each individual countries penalties. Penalties
would have to be closely monitored so as not to cripple a company overall.
Recommendations for Consumer Protection
Governing boards must empower consumers with needed tools to make safer business decisions. If
tools are given to the consumer to protect their purchases from car makers, consumers would more
comfortably recover from product issues and continue purchasing. For some consumers, the impact of
the VW deception will cause loss of funds,

Psychological Factors Affecting Eyewitness Memory
Whenever a crime takes place, eyewitnesses who are present on the scene can help the police or
authorities when the crime is being investigated. However, eyewitness memory can be affected by a
series of factors.
One of the factors that can affect eyewitness memory is stress. Whenever a person witnesses a violent
crime, his response is almost always one that generates a stressful response to the stressor imposed by
the crime. This stressful response is the defensive response which is heavily studied by
psychophysiologists (e.g., Klorman, Wiesenfeld Weissberg, 1977). This defensive reaction is the
physiological response (increased blood pressure, muscle tone and acceleration in heart rate) resulting
when attention control is highly dominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). The activation mode,
which is one of the two neural control systems that regulates a ... Show more content on

These are: (1) a bias against stimulus change, (2) a tonic readiness for action, and (3) processing under
tight attention controls. Some of the tasks that elicit the dominance of activation mode include
activities which increase cognitive and/or somatic anxiety such as vigilance, escape, avoidance or
pressure tasks (Deffenbacher, 1994). When assessing the effectiveness of a condition of heightened
stress, it should be compared with another condition that is demonstrably lower in stress (or even free
from stress), where the arousal mode of attention control is predominant (Tucker and Williamson,
1984). When the activation mode is dominant, there is a notable deceleration of heart rate and lowered
blood pressure (Lacey and Laceym 1974). Deffenbacher (1994) concluded that if a task elicits the
arousal mode of attention control, the memory will be enhanced for the most important and
informative aspect of the

Should High School Athletes Make Dollars
Should Athletes Make Millions? Most young athletes think that you are guaranteed a scholarship in
high school for playing sports. This is not exactly true so don´t bet you´re money on it. Only about 2
percents of high school athletes win sports scholarships every year. I do not think that once you
become a professional athlete you should be making millions annually. First and foremost, most
professional athletes make millions of dollars a year for sports and I disagree with it. Sports such as
football are recreational sports. To make a living more than most americans for just getting onto a field
and playing is crazy. More needed or important jobs such as teachers, police officers, and fire
departments make less than these athletes. One day when the work is not proportional enough to the
work and I feel like these workers may get tired. The president of the United States of America makes
less than most of the athletes. Raises should be made for the important jobs to be proportional to these
athletes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

We could have really nice classrooms and even extra curricular classes, but sports are funded first.
Sports in school may even go all out on and drop plans for school upgrades. Schools will receive
grants and spend it on a bigger field or equipment instead of classrooms. Everyone is told that playing

Herbert Hoover s Stock Market Crash
The 1929 Stock Market Crash We d like to thank you, Herbert Hoover/ For really showing us the way/
You dirty rat, you Bureaucrat, you/ Made us what we are today (www.stlyrics.com). These lyrics from
the musical Annie place the blame for the 1929 Stock Market Crash solely on the then former
president Herbert Hoover. The truth of the matter is that placing the blame for the Stock Market Crash
on Mr. Hoover is very unfair. Herbert Hoover was only one of many causes of the Stock Market
Crash. It is easy to try to place the blame for one of the most destructive events in the history of the
American economy on one person, but the real causes lie in the rampant speculation, the lack of
regulation of the stock market, and the questionable ethics of many of the companies and brokers that
were involved in the market. Although the 1929 Stock Market Crash is generally blamed on a few
scapegoats, it was actually caused by a multitude of factors, which makes finding a scapegoat
impossible. While there may be some arguments among historians, speculation is obviously one of the
major causes of the Crash. Speculation (In the context of the stock market) is the buying of stocks
with the purpose of profiting not from the dividends that the stock pays, but by the fluctuations in the
price (Axon 31). Speculation is often looked down upon by the market as a profession, as it is seen as
a form of gambling with possible serious repercussions. The secret is that speculation is actually

In Isaac Bashevis Singer s short story Gimpel the Fool, a innocent man by the name of Gimpel is in
search of redemption and deeper truth. Growing up, he faces the hardship of living a life not of his
own but of the town s perception of him as a fool. For the protagonist, life becomes nothing more than
baring the burden of being a fool so that he does not sin and go to heaven. This consequently drives
Gimpel to be dependent on the society around him and believe everything that the townspeople say as
truth. His transformation is made apparent after he has the visions of an spirit of evil and his wife of

Gimpel does not realize this demonstrates his wisdom instead of foolishness, the reader can
sympathize with Gimpel rather than look down upon him as the townspeople do. The townspeople
superiority complex towards Gimpel is prevalent everywhere because he falls for their tricks, yet the
reader perceives Gimpel as superior and wise, since his actions are virtuous, while the villagers are
immoral, foolish, and cold hearted. Elka s cruelty and exploitation of Gimpel clashes with his humility

When she repents to Gimpel, she reveals her dishonesty about their marriage and children, which

dominance she seemingly held over him since they married. Even though Gimpel is portrayed as a

Most Dangerous Game Outline
Simile: A figure of speech that makes a comparison between two things, using like or as.
Example: An apprehensive night crawled slowly by like a wounded snake, and sleep did not visit
Rainsford, although the silence of a dead world was on the jungle.
The Most Dangerous Game, page 32
Function:
Context Rainsford is hiding from General Zaroff in the forest of Ship Trap Island. After running
around in the forest and trying to make an untraceable trail, Rainsford finally rests high up in a tree.He
tells himself that Zaroff will never find him, but in the back of his mind he worries about being found
and killed. This makes Rainsford to feel like the night was going by very slowly and this worry kept
Rainsford up for a long time. The stress from the Most Dangerous Game is getting to Rainsford s
head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The night is described as apprehensive , which means fearful of something bad happening. The night
is further compared to a wounded snake, because like any wounded animal, it would move very
slowly and painfully. The author is describing the night like this, to compare it to how Rainsford is
feeling while he is hiding in the forest. Rainsford is very apprehensive himself, because he fears
Zaroff will find him and kill him. Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff could not trace him
there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated trail through the jungle
after dark. But, perhaps the general was a devil (pg.32). The night and a wounded snake are compared
by using a simile, because a wounded snake moves slow and the night is moving slow for Rainsford.
Rainsford feels like the night is so long, because he cannot fall asleep and all he can do is worry about
his life. This quote is an example of simile, because it is comparing the night to a snake, which gives
the reader a better understanding of what the author is trying to get

Viola Odorata s
In a controlled experiment, how is a plants growth affected by its surroundings? Environmental factors
such as light, water, temperature, and nutrition all take part in plant growth. But do plants affect each
other? If there are three Viola odorata s in a container, then they will grow faster and more efficiently
compared to a container holding nine Viola odorata s whereas they would most likely absorb more
water and other environmental factors.
A Viola odorata is an annual plant that is also known as a sweet violet Wellsiana . These plants
naturally complete their life cycles in about the span of one growing season; in which the plant
sprouts, grows, flowers, sets seed and then dies. Some annuals, including Viola s, thrive in cold

This is not to be confused with plant fertilization which is a common mistake. For normal growth
plants are in need of these eighteen elements: hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen which are found in air
and water. The next six elements are known as macronutrients: nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus,
calcium, sulfur, and magnesium which are found in soil. The last nine elements are called the
micronutrients: iron, zinc, molybdenum, nickel, manganese, boron, copper, cobalt, and chlorine which
are found in the soil. All these elements are crucial. Majority of the plants nutrients are dissolved in
water and immersed by the roots. Active absorption is important and essential for the plant to grow
healthy, but the nutrients can be absorbed passively. Some factors that may affect the absorption of
nutrients throughout the roots are the soil pH, type of ion, solubility of ion pairs, oxygen, water, soil,
sugar supply, temperature, and plant stress.
In conclusion, if a container holds a total of three Viola odorata s and absorb more water and other
environmental factors that contribute to plant growth and development, then they will grow faster and
more efficiently than a container that carries nine Viola odorata s that will take in less water, sunlight,
and nutrients since they are all fighting for it. The fact that all the environmental factors play such a
key role in plant growth signifies their importance and the very reason that plants would die without

The Importance Of The Protestant Reformation
When I think of the Protestant Reformation, the first thing that comes to mind is the
Augsburg Confession. The protestant reformation can be defined as the 16th century religious,
political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the
structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. The augsburg confession is
the foremost confession of faith for the Lutheran Church. It was written by Phillip Melanchton and
presented to Charles V on June 25, 1530. The main goal of this confession was to restore religious and
political unity. There are also many reasons why the augsburg confession ties into this and reveals its
importance throughout history.
There are 28 articles included in the confession but we are going to focus on the first four: God, the
original sin, Christ and justification. The first article that the augsburg confession reveals is God. The
church was a major component to the way of life in this era, so they had copious amounts of control
over people and the consequences based on betrayal. The churches were based on catholic views and
the aspects of their beliefs could be supplemented by leaders that wanted to extend their power and
control the church. The goal of the protestant reformation was to change those views that the churches
were claiming to be the right way to do things. In the augsburg confession it outlines the importance
of God saying that he is eternal, without body, without parts...

Should Pasta Companies Be Forced For Label The Country Of...
Should pasta companies be forced to label the country of origin?
This past week Italy formally asked the European commission to require country of origin on pastas
sold in Italy. As many expected, this has caused an uproar with international companies, most notably
Canadian, who believe this requirement will cause lessen sales. Italy s proposed plan is to show where
the wheat is grown and milled on the pasta packaging. This regulation would clearly be a detriment to
Canadian pasta brands and would also require Italian pasta brands to segregate from one another by
country. With margins in consideration, this will surely increase the cost of moving durum into Italy.

Four years ago the United States was in a similar situation with Mexico in regards to international
meat, rather than pasta. On September 11, 2013, a United States district judge refused to stop the
government from requiring more specific labels on beef, pork, poultry and lamb products that were
sold in the United States (The Pig Site). This served as a victory for defenders of the mandatory
Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) policy. COOL, is a controversial United States food and
agricultural labeling policy that was implemented and deemed mandatory in 2009. The policy requires
that fresh foods, most notably meat, must indicate on the label where the product was born, grown,
raised and slaughtered (The Pig Project). It is not a secret that international and domestic businesses
operate differently, As mentioned in chapter 1 of the textbook, companies can expand their sales by
engaging in international business. In this case, Canada exports their pasta in hopes of tapping into the
enormous pasta market or Italy. In fact, according to a study done in 2014 by the International Pasta

(International Pasta Organization). From the standpoint of Canadian pasta corporations, having their

McQueen and Knussen (2002) are of the view that, there are many techniques available to a researcher
that allow him or her to explore, describe and draw inferences, examine issues and so on. In this
research, the researcher will make use of descriptive research. The descriptive research was employed
because the study was mainly about the qualitative ways of establishing reader perceptions on political

Content analysis is a method of analyzing written, verbal or visual communication (Cole; 1988).
Content analysis can be a powerful tool for determining authorship. For instance, one technique for

The Articles Of Confederation And The United States
The Articles of Confederation were the written document that established the functions of the national
government of the United States after it declared independence from Great Britain. The Articles
provided a system for the Continental Congress to direct the American Revolutionary War, conduct
diplomacy with Europe and deal with territorial issues and Native American relations. The articles
were supposed to be a legislative body serving as the nation s executive rather than a parliament. It
had full power over foreign affairs and questions of war and peace, it could decide disputes between
the states, and it had authority over coinage, the postal service, and Indian affairs as well as the
western territories. Unfortunately, the weakness of the government created by the Articles became a
matter of concern for the American nation. The articles had no courts and no power to enforce its
resolutions and ordinances. It also had no power to levy taxes and had to rely on requisitions from the
states, which state legislatures could ignore. The articles didn t have an executive or judicial branch of
government, nor did it have an administrative head of government, and there were no federal courts
(Shi Tindall, 2013, P.239). America had to change from the articles of confederation to a constitutional
government, to strengthen its government. Shays Rebellion, an armed uprising in Massachusetts

1. Define the patterns of interaction: Our sociologist has described four model patterns of interaction
among the racial and ethnic in our society. They consist of pluralism, assimilation, segregation and
genocide. Pluralism is based on when people of different social classes, religions and races are
together in a society but have different traditions and interest. There are different real life examples of
pluralism that goes on around the world. An example of real life pluralism would be that in the United
States have many cities that have areas that are known for Little Italy or Chinatown. Those people
from that country are still able to keep their cultural tradition. Assimilation is a process through which
a minority group forsakes its cultural traditions and adopts those of a dominant group in society
(Tweedell, 2003, 2010, p.185). Example of this would be that many people see the United States has
the melting pot because all of the different nationality blending together. On the other hand, we have
segregation. Segregation refers to the separation of differing racial groups and ethnicities by law,
guaranteeing that the majority group in society will have the most dominance. Prior to the civil rights
movement, segregation was very prevalent. Blacks could not even use the same restroom or water
fountain as whites. Although segregation is now illegal in the United States, segregation still exists in
terms of housing, job opportunities, etc. The last of the four

How My Major and Minor Will Help in My Endeavors
Explaining the importance of my major and minor is very simple. My major will be general business;
the reasoning behind this choice is I have always been fascinated by business. I loved my economics
classes which fueled my interest for investing and looking at companies and gauging their worth and
risk. In this regard i feel like having a general business degree will help me find a job in anything
business as I will have a wide spread knowledge on the topic, while I do love business that is not my
main goal. To understand that you have to look at my minor, this will be communications.
I have always been a people person, I loved talking with everyone about anything and understanding
their interests and expressing my own. In the past semester I took a speech class and found I really
enjoyed it which got me thinking about what i wanted to do when I graduate. This is when it all comes
together. My major is business which will give me the background into business that I need. My minor
is communications which will give me the skills I need to go into either public relations or a salesman
for a large company. I feel the importance of these degrees should be easily identifiable. Everyone
needs someone to talk for and be the face for a large company. That is where I see myself in ten years,
working for a company as a public relations representative. My degree in business will give me
credibility and know how into the subject while my communications minor will give me the skill to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Contaminated Dental Disinfect
Contaminated dental impression will result in a contaminated dental cast. Because of potential damage
to the model, it is more difficult to disinfect a cast than to disinfect an impression.
There is ample documentation of the transfer of microorganisms onto and into impressions. Organisms
can also move into dental casts. Some of these organisms can remain viable for up to 7 days.
Therefore, it is preferable to disinfect the impression prior to the fabrication of a cast. (10) Dental
impressions after being washed under running tap water may be disinfected by spraying, dipping, or
immersing. Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the spray method and immersion
technique are that, on spraying less of the disinfectant product is used. However, the spray method

All body fluids are contaminated with opportunist and pathogenic bacteria. These facts give an
opportunity the denture to become a source of cross infection. This study suggests a new alternative
method for disinfection of dentures by using photodynamic therapy as prevention of cross
contamination between patient, dentist and dental technician. Disinfection of dentures is also a main
part of the therapy of denture stomatitis. Contaminated prostheses being in use should also be
disinfected prior to being worked on in the dental laboratory. The prosthesis should be scrubbed with a
brush using an anti microbial soap to remove debris. If there is calculus adherent to the prosthesis, it
should be placed in a sealed plastic bag or beaker filled with ultrasonic cleaning solution or calculus
remover, and placed in the ultrasonic cleaner for the required time (9). The ultrasonic unit should be

Case Analysis Massey Ferguson 1980
Case Analysis Massey Ferguson 1980:
Massey Ferguson Limited an International producer of Farm machinery and diesel engine started its
operations way back in 1847 and by the end of 19 th century they had operations throughout 31
countries of the world. In 1978 Company had financial loss of US. $262.2 million .
Massey s Strategies: 1) Product Market Strategy:
Massey s product line consisted of tractors, combine harvesters, balers, forage harvesters, agriculture
implements, farmstead equipments and other equipment for agricultural use. Industrial line consisted
of Industrial tractors, loaders, rough terrain forklifts, skid steer loaders, utility loaders and skidders. In

covenants were to be broken all of Massey Ferguson s debt becomes callable. These types of
restrictions can impede company financial options during down times (as they did when Massey
Ferguson attempted an equity issuance in 1978). The emphasis on short term credit lines was also a
questionable choice of finance structuring. Expansionary/market penetrating strategies typically pan
out by taking losses in the short term in order to realize larger gains in the long term. Along with an
expansionary strategy, Massey Ferguson was also increasing spending in R D for production of higher
horsepower tractors to market in North America and for diesel engine production.
What went wrong? 1) Market wide problems:
High interest rates after the 1973 oil crisis and the 1979 energy crisis, the US economy was affected
by stagflation. In an effort to fight excessive inflation, the Fed adopted a tight monetary policy, raising
interest rates (as an illustration, the federal funds rate increased from 11% in 1979 to 20% by June
1981).This affected all players as it led to a plunge of stock market prices, on the one hand, and an
economic recession, on the other. Furthermore, Massey was particularly hit hard: since it mainly
financed its operations with short term debt, its financing cost went up

According to Vice President Mike Pence, The Patriot Act is essential to our continued success in the
war on terror here at home. (Brainyquote). Politicians across the political spectrum overwhelmingly
agree that the Patriot Act is a necessary measure to protect the citizens of the United States from the
imminent threat of terrorism. After the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001, fear filled the emotions
of every red blooded American. This fear resulted in an uproar and a demand for increased security to

thrown away when it comes to obtaining search warrants for information collected online. Technology
has progressed to the point where the government, or anyone else who has the necessary skills and

laptops from their school were being spied on in their homes through webcams installed in the

location of the computers in the event that they were lost. The Lower Merion school district abused
this software to track the students actions outside of school. One student, Blake Robbins, was called

Agriculture And The Industrial Revolution Of The Late 1700s
As the Earth s population grows at breakneck pace over the next several decades, who will feed the
world s people? Agriculture has undergone an extensive expansion and transformation throughout the
last few centuries, beginning with the Industrial Revolution of the late 1700s. New technology
allowed for better and greater methods of production. With the development of modern technology,
people try to think some way can plant less, get more. Many farmers plant only one crop in the same
place year after year. However, those against monocropping claim that it is very hard on the
environment and actually less profitable than organic means of farming ( Monoculture Crops Learn
About The Effects Of Monocropping ). In addition, the destructive nature of agriculture has recently
shown its hand. While our supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants are filled with abundant
food options, people forget to ask themselves where all this food comes from. Globalization has
opened up economies of scale and has allowed people to tap into different types of products, whether
that is food or clothing. But the availability of an increased mass market comes at a cost. However,
today, the modern farming techniques have grown into a headache for farmers and governments alike,
because they are the consequences of overproduction, industrial waste and other problems arising
from the modern methods of agriculture. Thus, modern techniques are harmful to environments,
animals, and humans.

Essay On English Reflection
Semester One English Reflection
August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at
Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I would
encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now) remained my best
and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge
I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of
grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this
year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout
semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening
and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and
writing.
To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I
mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting
over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to,
English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed
some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As
time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of
learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English
would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average
went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of
classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I
feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of
my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a
magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school

government gave too much power Essay
Too Much Power
By Elvisa Duderija
The issues involving the Virginia plan gave too much power to the national government have been a
popular topic amongst scholars for many years. The Virginia plan was a proposal by Virginia delegates
for a bicameral legislative branch. The plan was drafted by James Madison while he waited for a
quorum to assemble at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. There are many factors which
influenced the development of the Virginia plan that gave too much power to the national government.

and Legislative Branch. I plan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote convinces me that the Judicial Branch created by James Madison was compelling because
the branch included the federal court systems. With the Judicial Branch the Virginia plan gave a lot of
power to the national government because the federal court systems have power when it is the system
of adjudication authorized by the US Constitution and established by Congress.
The last factor that influenced the development plan to give a majority of power to the national
government is the Legislative Branch that James Madison established. The Legislative Branch would
be made up of two congressional houses and representations would be raised on each state population.
A quote that declares that the Legislative Branch established by James Madison gave too much power
to national governments is in the reading A more perfect union when said The Legislative Branch
would be made up of two congressional houses and representation would be based on each state s
population. This quote shows evidence that the Legislative Branch established by James Madison was
very supreme. Since they had people from the congressional houses on there side obviously the
Virginia plan gave a majority of there power to the national government because of the Legislative
Branch established by James Madison.
You can conclude that the Virginia plan gave to much power to the national governments. The Virginia

How To Build An Arch In Roman Architecture
During the Roman era, architecture and building styles took many leaps forward. This was partly due
to the development of two key technologies: the arch and concrete. These technologies, and others,
gave the Romans new capabilities in both domestic and public architecture, as well as the creation of
infrastructure. In their furthering the development of the arch, the Romans took inspiration from the
architectural achievements of their Greek neighbors (wikipedia). The arch was often used in the
construction of grand monuments, as a centerpiece of it s own. These massive structures were
constructed as a celebration by leaders, often to celebrate victory in battle. Bas relief, featuring scenes
of religion, warfare, and ancestors, were carved into the arches. One well kept example is the Arch of
Septimius Severus at the Forum, erected AD 203 to celebrate his victories over the Parthians and the
Osroeni. (Kamm Wilson). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multiple tiers of arches could be used to support these structures. Without the arch, the Romans would
have been without the fresh water they could bring down from the mountains. The ability to get water
to the people allowed the city to run more efficiently, freeing people to do other work. It could be
piped directly into homes, increasing the standard of living in Rome (at least for the wealthy that
could afford this) (Kamm Wilson). The long bridges that the Romans could build decreased travel
time, allowing more efficient trade and more effective leadership and control of nearby

Canada In The 1960 s
Following a decade of classy, conventional living, the 1960 s was a decade filled with the Beatles,
turtlenecks, Barbies, and afros. A decade where days were filled with tie dye shirts, and coloured
televisions determined your social status. The 1960 s was also filled with racism and many were faced
with unjust judgements and consequences for their actions. Through all of this emerged three events
that changed Canadian history and how Canadians themselves viewed their country as a whole.
Through the acceptance of a new flag, hosting Expo 67 on Canada s centennial, and the fulfillment of
universal health care, the 1960 s was a decade that brought tremendous unity and national pride to
Canadians.

This campaign was the fight for government assisted health care for all. The government of Canada
officially passed the Medical Care Act in 1966, which created a universal health care system for all
Canadians. This was a significant step in Canadian history as many countries at that time, and still
today, lack laws of equality like this one. For this reason, Canadians find great pride in the fact that all
people in Canada have equal access to medical care. However, this law did not easily come about, it
took much time and persuasion to even be considered. Tommy Douglas began the fight for universal
health care for all Canadians in 1961 when he left the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation in
Saskatchewan to be a part of the federal government (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). Douglas had the idea
of giving all Canadians universal health care after he had succeeded in doing this for the people of
Saskatchewan. After proving his outrageous idea of medical care being partially paid for by the
government, it was easy to convince the rest of Canada. For only a small fee each month,
Saskatchewan residents had their medical bills partially paid for and after only two years provincial
debt was reduced by twenty million dollars (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). These same rules were
implemented in the rest of Canada as a result of the 1966 Medical Care Act (Health Canada, 2012,
online). As a result, Canadians were now supported by the government when they needed medical
help. Consequently, universal health care brought both pride and equality to Canada because very few
countries had the same luxuries that Canadians now

Paul Levy Case Summary
Paul Levy: Taking Charge of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center How would you describe the

which was an affiliation of some Boston area hospitals. The BID hospital system was in anarchy.
There were significant operating losses, amounting to millions of dollars each year. BID management
seemed incapable of implementing turnaround plans. The hospital experienced tremendous employee
turnover and suffered from poor patient care. The old hierarchical structure continued in the new BID.

Even as he talked to the search team, he knew the responsibilities and his own abilities. His first
condition was that he would start his job the first week of January 2002, before the Hunter report was
presented. Hunter was the outside consultant hired to review the organization and suggest changes to
turn the organization around. Levy wanted to be hired prior to the Hunter report so that he could use
the report in ways that he thought would be best. The second condition was to shrink the Board of
Directors from a 44 member group to a more manageable group of 18 members, which was
accomplished just a few months after Levy s appointment as CEO. The third condition of
employment, that the Board remain out of the day to day operations, showed that he believed in a
chain of command. Levy made it clear that any meeting between a board member and a staff person
must be brought to Levy s attention prior to the meeting. Perhaps Levy s intent was to avoid another
situation where chiefs convinced the BOD to fire the leader. After searching and various discussions,
the Boards of The Care Group and BID made the decision to appoint Paul Levy. They also secured an
agreement from the AG to foreclose the idea of selling the BID to a for profit hospital. Levy s first day
as CEO of BID was January 7, 2002. Levy likely had many goals including: turn BID

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
From the very beginning of the novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a young man by James Joyce we meet
Stephen Dedalus. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds,
smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly
specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of imagery is proof to us that
Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective. This uses of imagery and motifs
by James Joyce is used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret the world around him.
Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character. Joyce s ability to make stories
realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous success as a writer. Specifically, his use
of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a consciousness flow throughout his work that
almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we can understand this imagery, then we can better
understand Stephen s life and the time and place he lived in. Stephen or Steven is a masculine first
name, derived from the Greek name Stephanos , in turn from the Greek word, meaning wreath, crown,
honor, reward , literary that which surrounds or encompasses and in Greek mythology, Daedalus was a
skillful craftsman and artist . The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or
a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life
that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen
Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes,
Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the
Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in
the Labyrinth too. Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which
he and his son used to fly from the island. His son, who did not heed his father s warning and took too
much pride in believing he had outsmarted the King. He flew too high into the sky and the wax melted

The long bone is composed of cartilage which covers both ends of the the bone(the epiphysis) and it

the long bone is the hard compact bone, this allows the hollow part of the log bone some strength. The

Extended Definition Of Propaganda

The it that I m speaking of is known as propaganda. Propaganda can be a tricky word to define
because of the different ways it is utilized and the many words that it is nearly synonymous with. To

Propaganda is used to promote a certain cause to a mass audience through mass media. Propaganda
can be used to spread information for good or bad reasons and has been known to do both. The use of
propaganda for bad reasons has caused many people to view it as a deceitful word, one that stretches
the truth and blows things out of proportion to gain support even though that is not always the case.
For example, propaganda likes to use testimonials, glittering generalities, card stacking, and other
techniques to present information in the best and most biased light (Ogelsbee, n.d.). The article
Defining Propaganda (n.d.) explains that propaganda can spread its message through a variety of
mediums such as pictures, drawings, exhibits, speeches, parades, songs, and so forth. It can present
itself in such a way that the audience won t even realize what it is, which can help with its
effectiveness. Basically, this means propaganda can be concealed or open. It can also weasel its way
into your life and leave a lasting emotional effect by using a combination of emotional and logical
appeals (Defining Propaganda, n.d.). Propaganda typically appeals to emotion because it helps get a
message across in a short amount of time and is the most effective. All of this means that propaganda
can come in many different forms and can be adapted to fit pretty much any

Global Citizenship And The Rights Of Women
Global Citizenship and the Rights of women
Global Citizen
A Global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and
whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices. (Kosmosjournal.org,
2016). Global citizens are all of us who identify with taking action against world issues. Global
Citizenship (cosmopolitism) looks at us as needing to be patriotic to our nation state, but also needing
to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not simply
citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other
human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . (Nussbaum, 2004, p.45).
Rights and Responsibilities
As global citizens we must know our goals in order to know what responsibilities we have we have
drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny (...). But the burdens of global citizenship continue to
bind us together. (Obama, 2008), we must enable ourselves as global citizens to understand the issues
plaguing our world and look at these issues ethically, morally, and socially. We as global citizens have
the responsibility for advocating greater justice in the world, this type of advocating needs to be
demonstrated and is exemplified in a major issue currently plaguing our world relating to women s
rights and the inequality women face in many countries. Women s rights are human rights and are

Testable Questions For Research
A good scientific experiment has to answer a testable and well defined question. It also has to be
systematic and controlled. A Scientific experiment that lacks one these features will most likely be
flawed. All experiments have to have a testable question. For a question to be testable, you have to be
able to do an experiment to answer it. The question shouldn t be too easy that you can t even test it.
Will the growth of the plant be affected by the color of the light? is an example of a testable question
because you can design an experiment to answer this question. You can use 5 different colors with 5
similar plants and see and observe how their growth is affected for at least a week or more. A non
example of a testable question would be Which is a better flavor of ice cream, vanilla or chocolate?
This is not a testable question because it is an opinionated question, and you do not need an
experiment to answer it. In addition, an experiment should also have a well defined question which
means that it is clear and not vague. It also means that it is not too broad that it will take such a long
time to answer, but it should not be too narrow that there s no need for experimentation or research. ...

The impact would be immediately greater, making compliance so much more important. Violations, such as the emission deception, do impact the entire world, therefore, penalties should also be at a higher unified level to assist with resolution and re standardization when needed. A global voice will be much more powerful, moreover, the additional worldwide penalties would not eliminate or reduce each individual countries penalties. Penalties would have to be closely monitored so as not to cripple a company overall. Recommendations for Consumer Protection Governing boards must empower consumers with needed tools to make safer business decisions. If tools are given to the consumer to protect their purchases from car makers, consumers would more comfortably recover from product issues and continue purchasing. Psychological Factors Affecting Eyewitness Memory Whenever a crime takes place, eyewitnesses who are present on the scene can help the police or authorities when the crime is being investigated. However, eyewitness memory can be affected by a series of factors. One of the factors that can affect eyewitness memory is stress. Whenever a person witnesses a violent crime, his response is almost always one that generates a stressful response to the stressor imposed by the crime. This stressful response is the defensive response which is heavily studied by psychophysiologists (e.g., Klorman, Wiesenfeld Weissberg, 1977). This defensive reaction is the physiological response (increased blood pressure, muscle tone and acceleration in heart rate) resulting when attention control is highly dominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). When assessing the effectiveness of a condition of heightened stress, it should be compared with another condition that is demonstrably lower in stress (or even free from stress), where the arousal mode of attention control is predominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). When the activation mode is dominant, there is a notable deceleration of heart rate and lowered blood pressure (Lacey and Laceym 1974). The truth of the matter is that placing the blame for the Stock Market Crash on Mr. Hoover is very unfair. Herbert Hoover was only one of many causes of the Stock Market Crash. It is easy to try to place the blame for one of the most destructive events in the history of the American economy on one person, but the real causes lie in the rampant speculation, the lack of regulation of the stock market, and the questionable ethics of many of the companies and brokers that were involved in the market. Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff could not trace him there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated trail through the jungle after dark. The protestant reformation can be defined as the 16th century religious, political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. The augsburg confession is the foremost confession of faith for the Lutheran Church. It was written by Phillip Melanchton and presented to Charles V on June 25, 1530. The main goal of this confession was to restore religious and political unity. There are also many reasons why the augsburg confession ties into this and reveals its importance throughout history. There are 28 articles included in the confession but we are going to focus on the first four: God, the original sin, Christ and justification. The first article that the augsburg confession reveals is God. The church was a major component to the way of life in this era, so they had copious amounts of control over people and the consequences based on betrayal. The churches were based on catholic views and the aspects of their beliefs could be supplemented by leaders that wanted to extend their power and control the church. There are different real life examples of pluralism that goes on around the world. Assimilation is a process through which a minority group forsakes its cultural traditions and adopts those of a dominant group in society (Tweedell, 2003, 2010, p.185). English (until now) remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and writing. To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this, tension grew as the Koreans were forced to give up their culture. This resulted in resistance groups forming. The Koreans wanted to fight the takeover, so they did. • 28. government gave too much power Essay Too Much Power By Elvisa Duderija The issues involving the Virginia plan gave too much power to the national government have been a popular topic amongst scholars for many years. The Virginia plan was a proposal by Virginia delegates for a bicameral legislative branch. The plan was drafted by James Madison while he waited for a quorum to assemble at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. There are many factors which influenced the development of the Virginia plan that gave too much power to the national government. I plan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote convinces me that the Judicial Branch created by James Madison was compelling because the branch included the federal court systems. With the Judicial Branch the Virginia plan gave a lot of power to the national government because the federal court systems have power when it is the system of adjudication authorized by the US Constitution and established by Congress. The last factor that influenced the development plan to give a majority of power to the national government is the Legislative Branch that James Madison established. The Legislative Branch would be made up of two congressional houses and representations would be raised on each state population. A quote that declares that the Legislative Branch established by James Madison gave too much power to national governments is in the reading A more perfect union when said The Legislative Branch would be made up of two congressional houses and representation would be based on each state s population. This quote shows evidence that the Legislative Branch established by James Madison was very supreme. Since they had people from the congressional houses on there side obviously the Virginia plan gave a majority of there power to the national government because of the Legislative Branch established by James Madison. • 29. How To Build An Arch In Roman Architecture During the Roman era, architecture and building styles took many leaps forward. This was partly due to the development of two key technologies: the arch and concrete. These technologies, and others, gave the Romans new capabilities in both domestic and public architecture, as well as the creation of infrastructure. In their furthering the development of the arch, the Romans took inspiration from the architectural achievements of their Greek neighbors (wikipedia). The arch was often used in the construction of grand monuments, as a centerpiece of it s own. These massive structures were constructed as a celebration by leaders, often to celebrate victory in battle. Bas relief, featuring scenes of religion, warfare, and ancestors, were carved into the arches. One well kept example is the Arch of Septimius Severus at the Forum, erected AD 203 to celebrate his victories over the Parthians and the Osroeni. (Kamm Wilson). ... The ability to get water to the people allowed the city to run more efficiently, freeing people to do other work. It could be piped directly into homes, increasing the standard of living in Rome (at least for the wealthy that could afford this) (Kamm Wilson). • 30. Canada In The 1960 s Following a decade of classy, conventional living, the 1960 s was a decade filled with the Beatles, turtlenecks, Barbies, and afros. A decade where days were filled with tie dye shirts, and coloured televisions determined your social status. The 1960 s was also filled with racism and many were faced with unjust judgements and consequences for their actions. Through all of this emerged three events that changed Canadian history and how Canadians themselves viewed their country as a whole. Through the acceptance of a new flag, hosting Expo 67 on Canada s centennial, and the fulfillment of universal health care, the 1960 s was a decade that brought tremendous unity and national pride to Canadians. The government of Canada officially passed the Medical Care Act in 1966, which created a universal health care system for all Canadians. This was a significant step in Canadian history as many countries at that time, and still today, lack laws of equality like this one. For this reason, Canadians find great pride in the fact that all people in Canada have equal access to medical care. However, this law did not easily come about, it took much time and persuasion to even be considered. Tommy Douglas began the fight for universal health care for all Canadians in 1961 when he left the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation in Saskatchewan to be a part of the federal government (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). Douglas had the idea of giving all Canadians universal health care after he had succeeded in doing this for the people of Saskatchewan. After proving his outrageous idea of medical care being partially paid for by the government, it was easy to convince the rest of Canada. For only a small fee each month, Saskatchewan residents had their medical bills partially paid for and after only two years provincial debt was reduced by twenty million dollars (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). These same rules were implemented in the rest of Canada as a result of the 1966 Medical Care Act (Health Canada, 2012, online). As a result, Canadians were now supported by the government when they needed medical help. Consequently, universal health care brought both pride and equality to Canada because very few countries had the same luxuries that Canadians now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Beth Israel Hospital and Deaconess Hospital were consolidated and became Beth Israel Deaconess (BID) in 1996. Levy wanted to be hired prior to the Hunter report so that he could use the report in ways that he thought would be best. The second condition was to shrink the Board of Directors from a 44 member group to a more manageable group of 18 members, which was accomplished just a few months after Levy s appointment as CEO. The third condition of employment, that the Board remain out of the day to day operations, showed that he believed in a chain of command. Levy made it clear that any meeting between a board member and a staff person must be brought to Levy s attention prior to the meeting. Perhaps Levy s intent was to avoid another situation where chiefs convinced the BOD to fire the leader. After searching and various discussions, the Boards of The Care Group and BID made the decision to appoint Paul Levy. They also secured an agreement from the AG to foreclose the idea of selling the BID to a for profit hospital. Levy s first day as CEO of BID was January 7, 2002. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds, smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly specific detail. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes, Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in the Labyrinth too. Propaganda is used to promote a certain cause to a mass audience through mass media. Propaganda can be used to spread information for good or bad reasons and has been known to do both. The use of propaganda for bad reasons has caused many people to view it as a deceitful word, one that stretches the truth and blows things out of proportion to gain support even though that is not always the case. For example, propaganda likes to use testimonials, glittering generalities, card stacking, and other techniques to present information in the best and most biased light (Ogelsbee, n.d.). The article Defining Propaganda (n.d.) explains that propaganda can spread its message through a variety of mediums such as pictures, drawings, exhibits, speeches, parades, songs, and so forth. It can present itself in such a way that the audience won t even realize what it is, which can help with its effectiveness. Basically, this means propaganda can be concealed or open. It can also weasel its way into your life and leave a lasting emotional effect by using a combination of emotional and logical appeals (Defining Propaganda, n.d.). Global Citizenship (cosmopolitism) looks at us as needing to be patriotic to our nation state, but also needing to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . A Scientific experiment that lacks one these features will most likely be flawed. All experiments have to have a testable question. For a question to be testable, you have to be able to do an experiment to answer it. The question shouldn t be too easy that you can t even test it. Will the growth of the plant be affected by the color of the light? is an example of a testable question because you can design an experiment to answer this question. You can use 5 different colors with 5 similar plants and see and observe how their growth is affected for at least a week or more. A non example of a testable question would be Which is a better flavor of ice cream, vanilla or chocolate? This is not a testable question because it is an opinionated question, and you do not need an experiment to answer it. In addition, an experiment should also have a well defined question which means that it is clear and not vague.
