Irony In The Emperor s New Clothes
The literary element of irony is perfectly demonstrated in the short story, The Emperor s New Clothes.
This tale opens by introducing a markedly vain emperor who is later fooled by a couple of con artists.
The two tricksters convince the emperor that they can tailor an outfit so magnificent and extraordinary
that it appears invisible to those ...who [are] too stupid or too incompetent to appreciate its quality
(Anderson). The emperor, being intrigued, supplies the two men with many valuable materials and
requests for them to fabricate such a suit for him. Unwilling to look idiotic or incompetent both the
emperor and his subjects pretend to be enamored with the invisible, ostensibly beautiful, garment.
Nearing the end of the story the emperor decides to adorn his outfit publically so all can appreciate his
new clothes. It is not until a mere child points out that the emperor is naked that the emperor and his
subordinates become disenchanted with the lie peddled by the two frauds, and ... Show more content

Lovecraft is a tale which preserves this fact. During the beginning of the second chapter in this five
chapter short story, the main protagonist boards a bus commandeered by a malformed man with large
feet, scaly skin, and unblinking blue eyes. As he makes his lone journey towards Innsmouth, the main
character takes note of how increasingly empty and bleak the scenery becomes. He first does this by
establishing a juxtaposition between the warm and sunny day with the desolate landscape around him
(Lovecraft). The road leading into to the town of Innsmouth is rather barren and devoid of life,
offering only the sight of sedge grass, and stunted shrubbery (Lovecraft). After crossing a few crude
wooden bridges the bus finally arrives at its predetermined destination (Lovecraft). It is at this point
that the protagonist describes the true essence of this abhorrent, nautical

The Education Of The United States
In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously argued
the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States
Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the most
important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people... [which is
necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on the necessity
of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological debates,
landmark court cases, petty politics, and, at times, military intervention (e.g. during desegregation).
While lawmakers and judges have addressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including
nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good
society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of
Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that the
standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states
have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine
curriculum.
The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education
leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of
Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were
to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and
life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to
collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. In essence, the standards
were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational quality which had made for unequal
opportunities available to students after graduation. Two separate sections of Common Core
Standards, English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science,

Running head: MID AIR OF PSA FLIGHT 182 OVER SAN DIEGO
Mid Air of PSA Flight 182 and its Impacts on U.S. Aviation
Lance Paston
Utah Valley University
Abstract
This paper reviews the tragic mid air crash of PSA flight 182 and Cessna N7711G a Cessna 172 over
San Diego and its resulting FAA rules and regulation changes, and their affect on the U.S. aviation
industry. PSA Flight 182 s mid air resulted in the most sweeping FAA changes to airspace to date. The
FAA rules and regulation changes was a success in preventing similar mid airs of this type.

19 seconds before the mid air the controller received a conflict alert alarm in the tower indicating a
possible aircraft conflict. The controller subsequently ignored the alarm because he felt that since PSA
flight 182 had acknowledged having the Cessna in sight and the controller felt that the aircrew of PSA
flight 182 was meeting their requirement of visual separation, notification was not required in his
opinion. The controller did try to notify the Cessna that PSA 182 had them in sight and that PSA 182
was eastbound at six o clock and descending. There was no response from the Cessna as they had
already switched frequencies as was being controlled by Miramar TRACON for the ILS approach
procedures. The Cessna was unaware of the PSA flight coming from behind as the Cessna could only
monitor one frequency at a time, unlike PSA flight 182 which was being controlled by Lindbergh
tower had capabilities of monitoring both Lindbergh tower and Miramar TRACON (Time).
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the mid air was primarily the fault of the PSA
aircrew for failing to maintain visual separation and not informing the tower that they had lost visual
contact. Contributing factors were control tower procedures allowing

Buddy The Elf Research Paper
Buddy the Elf arrived to my house on Thanksgiving of 2008. The eight inch, red suited, stuffed elf
spied on our every move. Once we would fall asleep, Buddy would use his magic to fly back to the
North Pole to report our behavior to Santa. The elf came with one strict rule though, if he was ever
touched by a human hand he would lose all magic and not be able to venture back to the North Pole.
Therefore, nobody touched Buddy and everyone enjoyed his presence in the household. There was one
exception though, my sister, Liz. The elf creeped her out and the two never enjoyed each other s
company. This concluded in her posting a note on her door in scribbly handwriting stating, Buddy
must never enter this room or he will pay. As the years passed,

Relationship Between Child Development And Early Child Care
Abstract
Over the past several years, researches have study the relationship between child development, early
child care, and the importance of early children s experiences. Although researchers have found that
most children in day care don t suffer from the experience, recent research suggest that child care
hours is related with externalized behaviors. Child care has demonstrated to be a predictor in a child s
academic success later in life. High quality child care predicts higher vocabulary scores and advanced
cognitive outcomes, but also exposure to child care centers reported externalizing problems such a
behavioral problems and conflicts. However, another research indicates that children exposed to non
maternal child care become identical from their peers with little or no history of non maternal care
from a social emotional perspective. In addition, a research shows that low quality care is related to
poor performance; however, the amount of time children spend in non maternal care outside the home
does not appear to be related to child development. Even though child care does not appear to be
related with child development, researchers discuss the potential positive and negative long term
effects in their behavior later in life in the following areas: academically, emotionally, and socially.
Long Term Effects of Child Care
The 20th century marks a period in which families increasingly relied on child care as more mothers
of children work outside the home.

Structural Challenges That Immigrants In Canada Face In...
Although financial barriers to accessing PSE are not particular to immigrants, some studies indicated
that immigrants with low socio economic status may overestimate the cost of PSE. A study on
structural challenges that immigrants in Canada face in accessing PSE notes that while Canadians in
general overestimate the cost of university tuition by approximately $1,000, those from low income
backgrounds overestimate it by approximately $3,000. In addition, low income individuals
underestimate the average annual income differences between high school and university graduates. It
notes that, as part of the low income population, refugees and low socio economic immigrant are
likely to perceive that the cost of higher education outweighs the benefits, and therefore be deterred by
high tuition costs. In addition, low income families tend to reside in neighborhoods that are troubled
with gangs and violence. The study notes that teachers in the low income neighborhoods also tend to
be less qualified.
Academic Assessment and Non Recognition of Foreign Credentials
Issues with recognition of foreign education and respective academic placement are also another
barrier immigrant youth face in the education system. A study on the aspirations of refugee youth

Online College Vs. Online Education
If you re in Nigeria, online degree has been all over the media lately. The online courses are not
something that comes easily, especially if you are dealing with foreign online universities. Online
schools or what most Nigerians call distance learning is not fun and working with your online degree
at your home allows you to learn in your own way; and allows you to retain ownership how fast you
wish to earn your degree.
Fully accredited online colleges like national Open University of Nigeria and Walden University
course materials online have earned a widely recognized form of university accreditation from one of
the top six regional accreditation boards in Nigeria.
Even till now, students enrolled in online degree programs in Nigeria are ineligible for federal student
aid unless at least half of their programs was campus based (a law that was established in 1992 and
known as the 50 percent rule), even though that is a different situation for most Nigerians rushing to
register online degree programs.
Firstly, you need to make sure your online school choice does have accreditation; this means the
institution has passed a specific level of standards through a recognized organization for upholding
quality education.
In countries like U.S and U.K, It s the Department of Education and also the Council for College
Accreditation that recognizes the Distance Education and Training Council as the accrediting
organization for distance learning institutions and education programs

Effects Of Urbanization
Essay
Urbanization is an increasing number of city dwellers compared to people living in rural areas. Urban
development in poor nations has resulted in multiple issues such as air pollution and health problems.
Urban growth puts an enormous strain on social services. This essay will explain how rapid,
uncontrolled urbanization has led to serious consequences in developing countries.
Urbanization leads to several health issues. One of these problems is a rise of epidemic. Because of a
dramatically number of people, it may become more difficult to deal with an outbreak. These
epidemics occur at an incredible speed, hence, controlling them must be a big question for the
authorities (Berley 2016). Not only does the speed happen swiftly but ... Show more content on

The hospitals as well as the healthcare centre are overload, and they are not able to provide the
healthcare insurance for all patients. In addition, a shortage of medicines and drugs is a serious issue.
Because of a great number of people, the demanding of vaccines and medicines underwent a
significant growth. In the past, one in five children cannot have a full vaccine program, but today even
children in the urban areas also suffer the lack of vaccines. Moreover, when the outbreaks spread out
the source of medicine will not be adequate for all people.
Moreover, air pollution has caused by the rapid, uncontrolled urbanization in developing countries.
Urbanization lead to a negative impact on economic development since it is expensive to keep the air
fresh. China lost nearly 10% of its GDP, India 7.69% and Siri Lanka and Cambodia roughly 8%
because of air pollution (Vidal 2016a). A loss of productive labour lead to the lower income average
(Vidal 2016a). Thus, the economic in those developing countries cannot growth as fast as its ability.
Air pollution, moreover, contribute to a server impact on agriculture (Kaiman 2014). The toxic air and
smog is preventing the growth of plenty of plants. In China, diseased vegetable is caused by the
ambient polluted air (Kaiman 2014). In the process of nurturing such plants, the quality of the plants
may be affected significantly. Moreover, the health of

There is no file data caching because most applications now process large files which are simply too
big to be cached. Their architecture is based on a single master to simplify the design. The system
makes three copies of the data by default for recovery. They specify the chunk size to be 64 MB which
is very large comparing to chunk size in other files systems because it first reduces the interaction
between clients and master, reduces the network overhead if it uses persistence TCP connections, and
decreases the size of metadata stored in the master however it could bring overhead if the data size is
small when many clients are accessing the same file, but GFS is designed to majorly address large
files. There are three types of metadata that are kept in the master. They are the file and chunk
namespace, mappings from files to chunks, and the locations of each chunk s replicas. The first two
types are stored in the operational log which is stored in the master s memory. However it doesn t
store the third type persistently, it asks each chunk for its location when the master is being started.
GFS uses a consistency model. The files are consistent if all clients see the same data regardless of
which copy they are reading from. The content of metadata is mutated. In their data flow, they
separate between the flow of control and flow of data. The data is passed linearly to utilize the
network bandwidth. The data is forwarded to the closest machine to

Crypto Wars Case
Case Synopsis
The Crypto Wars is the name for the U.S. government s attempts to limit the public s and foreign
nations access to cryptography strong enough to resist decryption by national intelligence agencies.1
U. S. Government law enforcement officials want tech companies to give them a backdoor into
encrypted cellphones and other devices. Tech companies object to it. There have been bills drafted in
Congress on this issue. Apparently, I will object to a bill to require tech companies to provide a
backdoor because it infringes the privacy rights of smartphone users. This is the ethical challenge
about privacy behind the Crypto Wars. However, this is a Right vs. Right issue since under specific
circumstances, such as kidnapping and terrorism, it is necessary to have the access of a backdoor into
encrypted mobile devices. This issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Government Law Enforcement Officials Claim
In October 2014, FBI Director James Comey is asking Congress to force cellphone developers into
building backdoors into all devices for law enforcement surveillance as the response to new customer
data encryption standards adopted by Apple and Google.3 U.S. government law enforcement officials
argued that the new encryption standards of Apple and Google would make it easier for bad guys to
evade arrest since it is hard for the police to track data under unused encryption. Comey asked
Congress to update the 1994 Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, which mandates
telephone companies wiretapping digital and Internet communications.
This year on June 1st, two lawmakers are urging Comey to drop his pursuit of decrypting smartphone
communications since it is impossible without weakening device security.4 At present, the bureau has
not drafted legislation to address this issue yet. These sources for the facts of this case are very reliable

Romeo And Juliet Comparison To Zeffirelli s
Luhrmann uses lighting more effectively than Zeffirelli to portray the mood and emotions in the story
of Romeo and Juliet. To begin with, Zeffirelli s use of lighting is very weak in his version of the
movie, as he does not change the lighting to suit the characters behaviors and the overall feeling of the
movie at the time. For example, during the fight scene where Tybalt fights Mercutio the lighting does
not change, the light remains clear and bright even after Mercutio dies. This shows that lighting in
Zeffirelli s version is not as powerful as the lighting does not reflect on the characters and how they
are acting but just as a light source so you could see what s happening in the movie. On the other
hand, Luhrmann s use of lighting was

The Great Recession From 2007-2009
The market is a very fluid situation and this is becoming more and more apparent in the past ten years
with the Great Recession from 2007 2009. Therefore, businesses are operating in an economy where
the competition is high and the potential for failure has become significant. Those two aspects have
been and should be on the forefront of every organizations mind. Companies should have a strong
focus on examining and evaluating not only their financial standings, but the other competitors in their
market in order to boost sales and continue on the path to maturity. If a company is successful in
reaching this goal they will have the ability to hold the competitive edge on their rivals. Major
organizations such as Home Depot and Lowes are placing more focus on increasing that edge, while
contending with others in their pool, overall to increase, gain, and retain a piece of the devoted
consumer. In order to understand and conduct a complete financial analysis of either organization, or
any company for that matter, that desires to increase aspects of business, an analysis becomes
fundamental when defining the company s current standings in the market. This can also be a great
way in order to discover new ways for expansion of productivity and development within the
organization. Throughout the execution of a financial analysis of any business, it is imperative to
understand the background of the company and the products they produce and sell. By understanding

Pros And Cons Of Cameras On Police Officer

of recording videos. Going on the internet you can find any type of video and stream it, which can be
good for a learning experience, but it also could have a negative experience as well. This is no
different for police with body worn cameras, since there is always will be pros and cons when dealing

In this years time frame, the study found that citizens complaints went for .07 per thousand contacts
without the use of cameras to 0.07 per thousand contacts with the use of cameras (Ariel, Farrar,
Sutherland, 2015). The study shows that police worn body cameras can be a good solution to a
growing problem of citizens complaints.
False Accusations Increase Accountability
One of the ideas behind the cameras is to help with false accusations made against law enforcement. A
problem that police deal with is the accusations that police stick together, therefore it is the perception
that law enforcement will not go against another officer s word. No one is perfect, therefore I am sure
that this has happened before, although the idea of the camera is to show the public that no one is
above the law. Implementing these cameras will help by adopting an objective, transparent monitoring
system that allows us to defend those unjustly accused and correct or punish those caught abusing
their power, we can prove to the public we believe no person should be above the law, particularly
those sworn to uphold it (New York Times, 2013). This will put more pressure on the police officer,
but at the same time it will increase their accountability by making them more aware of their
surroundings when a situation may occur.
Provide Valuable Evidence Another important factor in the police worn camera is the valuable
evidence that is provided

Cybercrime And The Fight Against Cybercrime
Introduction The modern society has experienced profound effects due to information systems which
characterize almost all facets of individual and community life. Accordingly, a large amount of
research has been dedicated to creating understanding about this phenomenon. Arguably, this may
have overshadowed the debate on the ethical, social and legal issues that have accompanied the advent
of information systems (Schell Martin, 2004). In particular, while many people are aware of
cybercrime, very few understand its far reaching implications. For this reason, this discussion will
focus on exploring cybercrime, with a special focus on its legal, ethical and social impacts. In doing
so, it will also comment on the responsibilities that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the state of affairs has made it even more complicated for law enforcement to keep up
with the pace at which cybercrime is evolving. To begin with, computers and networks continue to
become more vulnerable than ever. In a rush to reap the numerous benefits of the internet, individuals
and organizations alike are overlooking some of the very important aspects that are supposed to
enhance their security on the internet. Likewise, other issues like the virtual nature of this type of
crimes, increase and ease in availability of attack tools, competing regulating priorities, and an
inadequate worldwide legal landscape have intensified the complexity of the fight against cybercrime
for law enforcement (Lovet, 2009). Finally, the growing complexity of cybercrime has showed the
importance of constant review of the relevant legislation. This is well exemplified in the changes made
in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (Appazov, 2014). This piece of legislation is the only one that
specifically handles the issue of cybercrime without dependence on the legislation crafted for other

Essay on The Origins of Akhenaten
The Origins of Akhenaten
There is much that is known about Akhenaten the heretic pharaoh. More lies in speculation. Since his
time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about
Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled upon
each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation.
We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th Dynasty
pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Although we know he had an older brother Thutmose and several sisters,
he was never shown in family portraits or records, the only documented proof we have linking him to

Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign, his
daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his
daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of the
heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really were
result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated.
Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the unusually
informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed. The royal
family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen also show
the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides being a close
family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to ailments such as
cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s .
On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his supposed
son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. It is indeed
possible that the stylization of the pharaoh in this way was an artistic expression of the religious
changes taking place during the Amarna period.

Controllable Car Project Paper
As the foundation of the project progresses there are several key tasks that must be completed to
provide a thorough and feasible concept of a wheelchair accessible and controllable car
The foundation of the wheelchair accessible and functional car will be dictated by the needs of the
people. The audience that needs to be primarily satisfied are the people who have suffered injuries or
in circumstances which do not allow them to have the free mobility by use of their legs. Along with
this main group that needs to be accommodated, the car needs to be appropriate for other family
members as well. By piecing together, the essential components of the specialized car a conceptual
sketch will be first attempted. With this first hand drawn initial idea there will be several iterations

How I Learned To Drive Play Analysis
In John Patrick Shanley s play, Doubt: A Parable , and Paula Vogel s play, How I Learned to Drive ,
both have strong themes of sexuality in the forms of sexual predation and pedophilia. Although these
two stories are considerably different, the message is the same. Doubt is a play that concerns a
mystery over whether or not a boy (Donald) has been raped by a priest, and How I learned to Drive is
a play about a woman (Li l Bit) who reminisces about the sexual molestation and the emotional
manipulation she had to endure at the hands of her uncle. Although these plays both have main theme
of sexuality, they each have vastly different settings, desires, and outcomes. In this essay, I will

In How I learned to Drive , Uncle Peck is not the only repugnant character in the play. Li l Bit s
relatives, including her mother, are ignore any indications of a lurking sexual predator. Her
grandfather is bluntly misogynistic. The worst part is that Uncle Peck s wife Mary, Li l Bit s aunt, is
aware of her husband s incestuous affair, but does nothing to deter him (Vogel 1601). In Doubt , the
St. Nicholas Catholic Church and school is like a family who (besides Sister Aloysius) does nothing to
investigate Father Flynn over the accusations of child molestation. The church s response to the
allegations was to promote Father Flynn by sending him to another church (Shanley 1712). Donald s
mother was not appalled or even slightly stunned by the allegations. She was more concerned about
Donald getting into a good high school and protecting him from his dad s physical abuse (Shanley
1709). Li l Bit s mother knew that Uncle Peck was more than a little attentive, and yet, allowed her to
continue to see him anyway (Vogel 1606). In both plays, the families each had a hand in the

NASA History
Everything that exists has history, even NASA! NASA s history stretches as far back as 50 years (and
counting), and that history has a lot to teach. NASA has history in when and why they started, in how
they progressed including the mistakes they made along the way and in the first astronauts to some of
the last. All of these things are important factors in the making of NASA history; and though they re
not exactly sending people to the moon anymore, what they ve done in the past with the technology
and resources they had in the 1900 s is educational and a beneficial learning experience. To begin
with, NASA was first pushed towards being more urgently developed when the Soviets successfully

history not only lies in it s accomplishments and it s establishment; but it lies in the hands of the
astronauts and people who made it existence possible. There were many key people who wanted
nothing more than for NASA to take off into space and to aid the world in knowing a little bit more
about the Earth and the wonders that surround it. Some of these people were ordinary and gave their

Functions Of Governmental Public Relations
Governmental public relations have been inspired by Grunig s models of PR and, particularly, by the
concept of symmetrical communication between organizations and publics (Gregory, 2006; Fisher
Horsley, 2007), a concept which, with its relationships with the notion of excellence (Grunig Hunt,
1984; J.E. Grunig L. Grunig, 1992; Grunig, 2001), has constituted the major framework that has
guided public relations scholarship for the past 30 years (Botan Hazleton, 2006). Mutual benefit,
mutual understanding, win win mixed motivated communication, are concepts used to denominate
purposes of organizational public relations.
Whether governments can establish symmetrical relationships with their publics is an issue at stake;
Grunig in cooperation with Jaatinen (1999) acknowledges that his symmetrical model would have to
be adapted to the specific conditions of government communication. But the interest of this approach
is that, in centering the analysis on the establishment of relationships, the understanding of the public
is fundamentally altered; and hence altered is also the understanding (concept and functions) of
government public relations: under this approach government communication is conceived as the
cultivation of long term relationships oriented to mutual understanding rather than being modelled on
short term, vote winning approaches to communication.
If the establishment of long term relationships between an organization and its publics is to inspire the

Data And Data Source Analysis
4. Data source analysis
Data is one of the important factors in data forecasting studies because data represents the whole
source of the business purpose of the study.
There are several reasons that the difference of data source makes it hard to compare prediction
accuracy from each other.
First, the result of a prediction model may differ with different data sources. Theoretically, the more
data we test, the more accurate result we can get, however, in real world, it is often hard to collect as
much data as desired. So a potential difficult question for all data prediction studies is that how much
data is enough.
Second, the quality of data source is crucial for prediction studies. Apparently, false data or noisy data
is not useful for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the similar target, Gordiievych and Shubin (2015) did not give any description of their data.
4.1.2. Different range and size of data
For airline prices prediction studies, it is a common practice to use time series data like airline ticket
prices. The date ranges of data used by different studies vary from several months to as long as 18
years.
For example, Chen et al. (2015) used 110 days of data in their study, and the other study from Zhang
et al. (2010) used 18 years of data to perform the experiment. Some studies did not specify their date
range of the data explicitly, such as Wohlfarth et al. (2011), Gordiievych and Shubin (2015) and Cao,
Ding, He, and Zhang (2010). Other studies chose other data lengths. Laik, Choy, and Sen (2014) used
one year of data, as the same length as Liu, Tan, and Zhou (2016). Yuan, Xu, and Yang (2014), Ghomi
and Forghani (2016), and An et al. (2016) used three years, six years, and ten years respectively.
One reason these studies chose different ranges of data for analysis is very likely the fact that data
collection for a long time range is difficult. Those studies used data ranges longer than a year were
mostly using historical data either from proprietary

Essay on The Marxist Ideal Cannot Work
The Marxist ideal, a highly appealing, almost Utopian
society, is impossible to achieve due to the fact that it
demands that the human mind be almost without flaws. It
asks of society and its members to be absolutely without
ranks, without greed or leadership. This has been clearly
impossible for society. Each step to achieving a communist
establishment has been, continues to be, and will be, in
actuality, a step towards the totalitarian societies of past
and current so called communist countries. Communism
became popular solely in under developed countries,
contrary to Marx s beliefs as to what should happen, and
its rise in these countries was the beginning of its fall. Marx
believed that the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Communist government began the downfall of Marx s
Ideal. Lenin had established a so called Marxist
government, but he felt that Russia was not yet ready for
the Marxist idea of Communism. He believed that the
country first had to be industrialized. That had been one of
Marx s stipulations. Secondly, Lenin felt that the new ruling
class, the proletariat, was not yet ready for ruling, so he
took up the position. That is where the chief problem lies,
in the implementation of the Marxist Ideal. From the very
beginning, even prior to the foretold revolution, the ideal is
fitted to the leaders viewpoints, which is completely
opposite to what Marx had envisioned. The problem with
capitalism, as Marx saw it, was that leaders were taking the
lives and futures of others in their hands and using them to
their advantage and this was forever escalating. As Leninist
Russia progressed, Lenin guaranteed that people did not
gain too much freedom and implemented such forces as the
secret police and one party rule. Thus, through initial
adaptations of the system as envisioned by its creator, the
distortion of the ideal is present even in its beginnings.
Following the first step towards communism is the
revolution that Marx predicted would ultimately occur.
However, through a revolution, especially a violent one that
Marx deemed would

They practiced the Tasawwuf, purification of heart, self discipline, and they guided and teaches people

The Secret Of Relationship
Sacred Change
The secret of relationship, I believe, is about knowing who you are from day one. Knowing what
happened to you after day one and how it is affecting you and others throughout your life into now. I
believe, that most if not all the reasons why we have conflicts, is about unhealed childhood wounds. I
have found with my clients, and in my life, that nearly all the problems in relationships have to do
with unhealed childhood issues. When wounds are not healed they are projected onto others and until
we can own what is our behavior, we cannot get along and we cannot evolve, thus the wars,
internalized oppression, that is projected onto others. It doesn t matter what your faith is.
I am a student of Kabbalah, I still have a childhood, like everybody else, and most, if not all families
are unwittingly dysfunctional wound creators while simultaneously giving love and support. Our
spiritual work, I call it spirituality 101, is to assess our wounds, own them, express them emotionally,
understand them and grow to change them. We may never forget some of the things that have
happened to us, sexual abuse, war, death of parents, these being but a few of the difficult things to
remember, but we can still heal the damage and thereby project LIGHT instead of a wounded history!
There are many ways to heal our childhood wounds but it can take a lifetime to resolve some of them
completely. I am astounded by the many ways, the extremely creative ways, that my subconscious has

The Teachings Of The Bible
The definition of faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see . My
definition of faith is that it s your spiritual beliefs and it s a strong belief in a personal God . My
religion is Christianity . I believe that God has revealed himself and can be known in a personal way
in life . When we have Jesus Christ we do not focus on the religious rituals or performing good works
, we enjoy getting a relationship with God and growing a powerful bond so that we can get to know
him better . The Bible is the account of God s action in the world , and his purpose with all creation
.The Bible contains the message God desired . I believe that the Bible was written as a message to
humankind to guide us in the right path to success. I believe the Bible is inspiration . It s inerrant and
infallible meaning it s without error and unable to fail. The Holy Bible is the only accurate Bible from
the word of God . It determines all the doctrinal truths . God is existent in three persons Father , Son
(Jesus ) and the Holy Spirit . They are coequal and co eternal . The Holy Spirit is filled beyond the
limit because God was the only person to live a sinless life . A scripture I grew up on was The Lord is
my Shepherd , I shall not want comes from the 23rd Psalm and the Old Testament. The scripture
means that they had the lord as they shepherd and we will not lack the basic needs of life : like food ,

A Critical Appraisal of the Components of Taxation in...
INTRODUCTION
Tax has been variously defined over the years. These definitions, when looked at as a whole gives a
more comprehensive picture of the phenomenon as opposed to a single definition. According to the
Oxford English Dictionary the word ‘tax refers to a compulsory contribution to the support of
government levied on persons, property, income, commodities, transactions, etc, now at a fixed rate
mostly proportionate to the amount on which the contribution is levied. While this serves in crude
terms to tell us what a tax is, it is however deficient in the sense that it does not reveal the purpose of
taxation. We however find more scholarly definitions in decided cases. For instance, in MATTHEWS
v. CHICORY MARKETING BOARD it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various tax statutes all contain charging clauses. Under the PITA, this is found in S 1 which provides
thus:
There is hereby imposed a tax on the income of individuals, communities and families, and arising to
any trustee or executor under any settlement, trust or estate
In respect of the CITA, S 8 provides the charging clause thus:
Subject to the provisions of this Act, the tax shall, for each year of assessment , be payable at the rate
specified in subsection (1) of section 29 of this Act upon the profits of any company accruing in,
derived from, or brought into, or received in Nigeria
In the case of the VAT ACT, the charging clause is contained in S 1(1) where it is provided that:
There is hereby imposed and charged a tax to be known as the Value Added Tax which shall be
administered according to the provisions of this Act.
The effect of these provisions is to make a taxpayer liable to taxation. In reality, tax is a creation of
statute and there is no of common law or equity that makes a man liable to tax. Therefore, from time
to time whenever a dispute arises between the relevant tax authority and the taxpayer, there is a need
to establish a judicial construction of any particular provision of a tax statute. In construing the words
of a statute, the onus is on the tax authority to prove the intention of the legislature from the wordings
of the statute. Where the

value control measure requested by the lower classes of Paris, and a religious side that was epitomized
in the project of de Christianization sought after by the supporters of Jacques Hébert.Amid the Terror,
the Committee of Public Safety (of which Maximilien de Robespierre was the most unmistakable part)

Temperance And Prohibition Propaganda
Religion was the main reason behind Temperance and Prohibition movement. The Second Great
Awakening was a Protestant revival that started around the1800 s in the United States. The revivals
attracted hundreds of new followers to the Protestant denomination. Massachusetts passed a
Temperance law in 1838. If the alcohol where in quantities less than 15 gallons it was banned, The
Temperance law was repealed two years later. In 1846 Maine passed the one of the first state
prohibition law . Many other states followed by the time the Civil War began in 1861. The temperance
movement of the 19th and early 20th century was an organized in effort to encourage moderation in
the consumption of intoxicating liquors or press for complete abstinence . ... Show more content on

The 18th amendment was ratified on January 29,1919. The amendment went into effect about a year
later, 33 states had already authorized their own prohibition legislation. The National Prohibition Act.
Provided guidelines for the federal enforcement of prohibition. Championed by representative Andrew
Volstead of Mississippi as the Volstead Act . Even after President Woodrow Willison veto, the
Volstead Act was passed by congress. The act was passed on October 28, 1919. It was up to the
Treasury Department/ Internal Revenue Service IRS for the enforcement of the Volstead Act using
Prohibition agents employed through the IRS. It was eventually transferred to the Justice Department.
Most of the enforcers could be bribed by the bootleggers. The government had fewer than 1,600 low
paid, poorly trained prohibition agents for the entire country. The public reaction to the introduction of
prohibition was mixed. Less than one hour after prohibition took effect six gunmen hijacked a train in
Chicago and stole over $100,000 worth of whiskey that was marked for medicinal use . Prohibition
led to organized crime. speakeasies, bootleggers, bathtub gin, and a national wildness called the
roaring twenties. Prohibition turned the small gangs that existed in the early 20th century into the
powerful mafias that are still around today. A huge public demand for alcohol, made a very

Cellular Respiration Lab
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to study the relationship between cellular respiration in the
muscles, and muscle fatigue due to lactate fermentation in anaerobic respiration.
Hypothesis: If the muscles in the fingers are continuously exercised, then the number of squeezes will
constantly decrease in the dominant and non dominant hand. This is because the lactic acid will begin
forming due to the lack of oxygen present for the aerobic respiration to take place. The lactic acid
would cause the muscles to experience fatigue therefore, reducing the ability to continue the squeezing
action.
1. As the trials progressed, the strength of the muscles decreased as well because of the experienced
muscle fatigue due to the lactate threshold. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxygen debt in the muscles is reached when oxygen levels are much lower than required during
strenuous physical activity, causing lactate fermentation to occur in the cells leading to muscle fatigue.
The results found in the experiment were the number of squeezes in the first trial for the dominant and
non dominant hands were significantly higher than the remaining ones. The results also showed as the
trials continued, the number of muscle contractions decreased steadily which supported the
hypothesis. However, there were some increased numbers for the dominant hand from trial 4 to 5 and
trial 9 to 10. The non dominant hand expressed similar unexpected results from trial 6 to 7 and trial 9
and 10. The reasons for these results might be due to the finger muscles being worked at the high
intensity for a long period of time causing the muscles to consume higher amounts of oxygen thus
producing more ATP production. This would cause the muscles to create more contractions towards
the end of the trials. The unexpected results could also be caused by experimental errors such as faulty
clothespins. The springs connecting the two ends of the clothespin was tight causing the number of
contractions as the trials progressed having a more significant decrease. This is because the amount of
energy required to open and close the clothespin would be higher, causing the lactate threshold to
occur quicker. Due to this, the number of squeezes would decrease drastically as the trials progressed,
in contrast to if the springs were normal. This would change the results by the difference between the
trials not being evident therefore, not demonstrating the effects of muscle fatigue. Another factor that
altered this experiment was the participant s condition, Palmar Hyperhidrosis excessive sweating on
the palms which

Analysis Of Paul Laurence Dunbar s Sympathy Essay
Paul Laurence Dunbar was an African American writer who lived during the late 1800s. This
tumultuous time period was filled with racism that limited the freedom and the voice of African
Americans everywhere. This racism existed not only in the day to day lives of African Americans, but
also in the sphere of literature and, thus, severely impacted Dunbar s life. Sympathy , published in
1899, is a poem that addresses the difference in treatment of white Americans and African Americans
as well as African Americans desire for freedom from both a personal standpoint as a writer and also
as a public figure speaking on behalf of the African American community.
Sympathy is a reflection of Dunbar s own struggle as an African American poet during the late 19th
century. During this time, African Americans were judged as socially and economically inferior and
lacking the tools of upward class mobility: proper English speech, literacy, and a Western education
(Roman 33). This view of African Americans was translated into the literary field by the leading elite
literary figure William Dean Howells, who believed that dialect poetry was the only form of authentic
and proper African America speech (Roman 33). Howells beliefs led to editors choosing to only
publish dialect poetry which forced Dunbar to discontinue writing in his preferred literary style of
Standard English. In this way, the editors became the cage that held the bird. Dunbar contrasts the idea

Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance
that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father
fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner.
As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a
carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my
cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena
Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new
activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my
grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about
relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a
fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a
couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed
myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t
dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go
fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do

Descriptive Statistics Of A Distribution Of Job...
Table 1 presents the descriptive statistics of variables used in this study. Based on the ACS 2009 2013,
the median housing price and median rent in Chicago metropolitan area are $266,371 and $912,
respectively. The average value of job accessibility and mixed land use are 1.01 and 2.57, respectively.
Figure 3 presents a Kernel distribution of job accessibility and mixed land use, which shows that they
have different distributions. Average room is 2.64 and average year built is 61. Average housing cost is
$1,368. Average age and average household size is 36 and 2.66, respectively. The proportions of black
and Hispanic are about 20%. Average residential density is 7.25 (housing/mile2), and the proportion of
single housing is about 50%. The average distance to nearest park is 0.38mile, and the average
vacancy rate is 10%. As discussed above, our unit of analysis is census tract, and 2,014 census tracts
are used in this study.
Figure 3. Density of Job Accessibility Index and Mixed Land Use
Figure 4 presents the spatial distribution of job accessibility measured based on the equation (9) and
mixed land use measured based on the equation (11). Job accessibility decreases as distance from the
CBD increases, but interestingly job accessibility in the northern part from the CBD is high. Although
many reasons may affect this spatial distribution of job accessibility, this can be simply explained that
job supply is higher than job demand. This pattern of job accessibility seems

King Henry Iv Part 1 Analysis
In the creation of a text the composer s choices relating to the ways in which they construct the text
are used to position the responder towards a desired interpretation. This is particularly evident in texts
concerning people and politics as the composers shaping of the text manipulates the responder to
favour a particular political view or person s perspective. In the play King Henry IV Part One (c.1597)
writer William Shakespeare constructs the text so that the audience conforms to his idea of the rightful
ruler as influenced by his personal and historical context. Similarly, in the television series The
Borgias (2011) created by Neil Jordan the text is constructed so that the audience favours the corrupt
Pope despite his flaws, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This conflict is the result of the opposing views of who is the best option for the next Pope and
therefore what is best for Rome. Della Rovere believes that while Borgia has organising genius the
church more importantly needs honesty, propriety and goodness , all of which he accuses Borgia of
lacking. Both Borgia and della Rovere are corrupt, however, the audience is positioned to support the
Borgia despite his flaws. He is portrayed as the Spanish white Moor and the despised underdog.
However his ambition and determination fuels him to achieve his goals and the audience is positioned
to admire this. This is particularly evident in a scene in the first episode between Borgia and della
Rovere where the two were sat next to each other in a darkened hallway. Della Rovere threatens
Borgia asserting, I shall fight you to the end and beyond if that need be, with any means necessary.
Della Rovere is characterised through the used of lighting, he is shown in shadows and darkness.
Whereas Borgia is illuminated by the opposing window when he says, I do tend to win whatever
battles I fight before symbolically rising above della Rovere. Through this characterisation the
audience is positioned to align with Borgia over della Rovere in this

  • 2. Irony In The Emperor s New Clothes The literary element of irony is perfectly demonstrated in the short story, The Emperor s New Clothes. This tale opens by introducing a markedly vain emperor who is later fooled by a couple of con artists. The two tricksters convince the emperor that they can tailor an outfit so magnificent and extraordinary that it appears invisible to those ...who [are] too stupid or too incompetent to appreciate its quality (Anderson). The emperor, being intrigued, supplies the two men with many valuable materials and requests for them to fabricate such a suit for him. Unwilling to look idiotic or incompetent both the emperor and his subjects pretend to be enamored with the invisible, ostensibly beautiful, garment. Nearing the end of the story the emperor decides to adorn his outfit publically so all can appreciate his new clothes. It is not until a mere child points out that the emperor is naked that the emperor and his subordinates become disenchanted with the lie peddled by the two frauds, and ... During the beginning of the second chapter in this five chapter short story, the main protagonist boards a bus commandeered by a malformed man with large feet, scaly skin, and unblinking blue eyes. As he makes his lone journey towards Innsmouth, the main character takes note of how increasingly empty and bleak the scenery becomes. He first does this by establishing a juxtaposition between the warm and sunny day with the desolate landscape around him (Lovecraft). The road leading into to the town of Innsmouth is rather barren and devoid of life, offering only the sight of sedge grass, and stunted shrubbery (Lovecraft). After crossing a few crude wooden bridges the bus finally arrives at its predetermined destination (Lovecraft). • 3. The Education Of The United States In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously argued the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the most important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people... [which is necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on the necessity of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological debates, landmark court cases, petty politics, and, at times, military intervention (e.g. during desegregation). Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine curriculum. The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. In essence, the standards were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational quality which had made for unequal opportunities available to students after graduation. Essay on Psa Crash Running head: MID AIR OF PSA FLIGHT 182 OVER SAN DIEGO Mid Air of PSA Flight 182 and its Impacts on U.S. Aviation Lance Paston Utah Valley University Abstract This paper reviews the tragic mid air crash of PSA flight 182 and Cessna N7711G a Cessna 172 over San Diego and its resulting FAA rules and regulation changes, and their affect on the U.S. aviation industry. PSA Flight 182 s mid air resulted in the most sweeping FAA changes to airspace to date. The FAA rules and regulation changes was a success in preventing similar mid airs of this type. Once we would fall asleep, Buddy would use his magic to fly back to the North Pole to report our behavior to Santa. The elf came with one strict rule though, if he was ever touched by a human hand he would lose all magic and not be able to venture back to the North Pole. Therefore, nobody touched Buddy and everyone enjoyed his presence in the household. There was one exception though, my sister, Liz. • 6. Relationship Between Child Development And Early Child Care Abstract Over the past several years, researches have study the relationship between child development, early child care, and the importance of early children s experiences. Although researchers have found that most children in day care don t suffer from the experience, recent research suggest that child care hours is related with externalized behaviors. Child care has demonstrated to be a predictor in a child s academic success later in life. High quality child care predicts higher vocabulary scores and advanced cognitive outcomes, but also exposure to child care centers reported externalizing problems such a behavioral problems and conflicts. However, another research indicates that children exposed to non maternal child care become identical from their peers with little or no history of non maternal care from a social emotional perspective. In addition, a research shows that low quality care is related to poor performance; however, the amount of time children spend in non maternal care outside the home does not appear to be related to child development. Even though child care does not appear to be related with child development, researchers discuss the potential positive and negative long term effects in their behavior later in life in the following areas: academically, emotionally, and socially. Long Term Effects of Child Care The 20th century marks a period in which families increasingly relied on child care as more mothers of children work outside the home. ... Although financial barriers to accessing PSE are not particular to immigrants, some studies indicated that immigrants with low socio economic status may overestimate the cost of PSE. A study on structural challenges that immigrants in Canada face in accessing PSE notes that while Canadians in general overestimate the cost of university tuition by approximately $1,000, those from low income backgrounds overestimate it by approximately $3,000. In addition, low income individuals underestimate the average annual income differences between high school and university graduates. It notes that, as part of the low income population, refugees and low socio economic immigrant are likely to perceive that the cost of higher education outweighs the benefits, and therefore be deterred by high tuition costs. In addition, low income families tend to reside in neighborhoods that are troubled with gangs and violence. The study notes that teachers in the low income neighborhoods also tend to be less qualified. There is no file data caching because most applications now process large files which are simply too big to be cached. Their architecture is based on a single master to simplify the design. The system makes three copies of the data by default for recovery. They specify the chunk size to be 64 MB which is very large comparing to chunk size in other files systems because it first reduces the interaction between clients and master, reduces the network overhead if it uses persistence TCP connections, and decreases the size of metadata stored in the master however it could bring overhead if the data size is small when many clients are accessing the same file, but GFS is designed to majorly address large files. There are three types of metadata that are kept in the master. They are the file and chunk namespace, mappings from files to chunks, and the locations of each chunk s replicas. The first two types are stored in the operational log which is stored in the master s memory. However it doesn t store the third type persistently, it asks each chunk for its location when the master is being started. GFS uses a consistency model. The files are consistent if all clients see the same data regardless of which copy they are reading from. The content of metadata is mutated. Therefore, businesses are operating in an economy where the competition is high and the potential for failure has become significant. Those two aspects have been and should be on the forefront of every organizations mind. Companies should have a strong focus on examining and evaluating not only their financial standings, but the other competitors in their market in order to boost sales and continue on the path to maturity. False Accusations Increase Accountability One of the ideas behind the cameras is to help with false accusations made against law enforcement. A problem that police deal with is the accusations that police stick together, therefore it is the perception that law enforcement will not go against another officer s word. Cybercrime And The Fight Against Cybercrime Introduction The modern society has experienced profound effects due to information systems which characterize almost all facets of individual and community life. Accordingly, a large amount of research has been dedicated to creating understanding about this phenomenon. Arguably, this may have overshadowed the debate on the ethical, social and legal issues that have accompanied the advent of information systems (Schell Martin, 2004). In particular, while many people are aware of cybercrime, very few understand its far reaching implications. For this reason, this discussion will focus on exploring cybercrime, with a special focus on its legal, ethical and social impacts. In doing so, it will also comment on the responsibilities that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the state of affairs has made it even more complicated for law enforcement to keep up with the pace at which cybercrime is evolving. To begin with, computers and networks continue to become more vulnerable than ever. In a rush to reap the numerous benefits of the internet, individuals and organizations alike are overlooking some of the very important aspects that are supposed to enhance their security on the internet. Likewise, other issues like the virtual nature of this type of crimes, increase and ease in availability of attack tools, competing regulating priorities, and an inadequate worldwide legal landscape have intensified the complexity of the fight against cybercrime for law enforcement (Lovet, 2009). Finally, the growing complexity of cybercrime has showed the importance of constant review of the relevant legislation. This is well exemplified in the changes made in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (Appazov, 2014). This piece of legislation is the only one that specifically handles the issue of cybercrime without dependence on the legislation crafted for other crimes. All in all, there is need for more work as it pertains to legislation in order to sufficiently cover crimes of this nature. Social Impacts The society is arguably the most affected by the advent of the internet, information systems, and most especially cybercrime. This is because it has broadened ... Since his time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled upon each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation. We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th Dynasty pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign, his daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of the heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really were result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated. Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the unusually informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed. The royal family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen also show the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides being a close family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to ailments such as cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s . On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his supposed son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. It is indeed possible that the stylization of the pharaoh in this way was an artistic expression of the religious changes taking place during the Amarna period. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Functions Of Governmental Public Relations Governmental public relations have been inspired by Grunig s models of PR and, particularly, by the concept of symmetrical communication between organizations and publics (Gregory, 2006; Fisher Horsley, 2007), a concept which, with its relationships with the notion of excellence (Grunig Hunt, 1984; J.E. Grunig L. Grunig, 1992; Grunig, 2001), has constituted the major framework that has guided public relations scholarship for the past 30 years (Botan Hazleton, 2006). Mutual benefit, mutual understanding, win win mixed motivated communication, are concepts used to denominate purposes of organizational public relations. Whether governments can establish symmetrical relationships with their publics is an issue at stake; Grunig in cooperation with Jaatinen (1999) acknowledges that his symmetrical model would have to be adapted to the specific conditions of government communication. But the interest of this approach is that, in centering the analysis on the establishment of relationships, the understanding of the public is fundamentally altered; and hence altered is also the understanding (concept and functions) of government public relations: under this approach government communication is conceived as the cultivation of long term relationships oriented to mutual understanding rather than being modelled on short term, vote winning approaches to communication. Data source analysis Data is one of the important factors in data forecasting studies because data represents the whole source of the business purpose of the study. There are several reasons that the difference of data source makes it hard to compare prediction accuracy from each other. First, the result of a prediction model may differ with different data sources. Theoretically, the more data we test, the more accurate result we can get, however, in real world, it is often hard to collect as much data as desired. Different range and size of data For airline prices prediction studies, it is a common practice to use time series data like airline ticket prices. The date ranges of data used by different studies vary from several months to as long as 18 years. For example, Chen et al. (2015) used 110 days of data in their study, and the other study from Zhang et al. (2010) used 18 years of data to perform the experiment. Some studies did not specify their date range of the data explicitly, such as Wohlfarth et al. (2011), Gordiievych and Shubin (2015) and Cao, Ding, He, and Zhang (2010). Other studies chose other data lengths. Laik, Choy, and Sen (2014) used one year of data, as the same length as Liu, Tan, and Zhou (2016). Yuan, Xu, and Yang (2014), Ghomi and Forghani (2016), and An et al. (2016) used three years, six years, and ten years respectively. The problem with capitalism, as Marx saw it, was that leaders were taking the lives and futures of others in their hands and using them to their advantage and this was forever escalating. As Leninist Russia progressed, Lenin guaranteed that people did not gain too much freedom and implemented such forces as the secret police and one party rule. With common war spreading from the Vendée and unfriendly armed forces encompassing France on all sides, the Revolutionary government chose to make Fear the request of the day and to take cruel measures against those associated with being foes of the Revolution (nobles, clerics, hoarders). In Paris a flood of executions took after. In the territories, delegates on mission and reconnaissance panels initiated neighborhood dread. The Terror had a monetary side encapsulated in the Maximum, a value control measure requested by the lower classes of Paris, and a religious side that was epitomized in the project of de Christianization sought after by the supporters of Jacques Hébert.Amid the Terror, the Committee of Public Safety (of which Maximilien de Robespierre was the most unmistakable part) practiced virtual authoritarian control over the French ... The amendment went into effect about a year later, 33 states had already authorized their own prohibition legislation. The National Prohibition Act. Provided guidelines for the federal enforcement of prohibition. Championed by representative Andrew Volstead of Mississippi as the Volstead Act . Even after President Woodrow Willison veto, the Volstead Act was passed by congress. The act was passed on October 28, 1919. It was up to the Treasury Department/ Internal Revenue Service IRS for the enforcement of the Volstead Act using Prohibition agents employed through the IRS. It was eventually transferred to the Justice Department. Most of the enforcers could be bribed by the bootleggers. The government had fewer than 1,600 low paid, poorly trained prohibition agents for the entire country. The public reaction to the introduction of prohibition was mixed. Less than one hour after prohibition took effect six gunmen hijacked a train in Chicago and stole over $100,000 worth of whiskey that was marked for medicinal use . Prohibition led to organized crime. speakeasies, bootleggers, bathtub gin, and a national wildness called the roaring twenties. Prohibition turned the small gangs that existed in the early 20th century into the powerful mafias that are still around today. A huge public demand for alcohol, made a very ... • 42. Cellular Respiration Lab Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to study the relationship between cellular respiration in the muscles, and muscle fatigue due to lactate fermentation in anaerobic respiration. Hypothesis: If the muscles in the fingers are continuously exercised, then the number of squeezes will constantly decrease in the dominant and non dominant hand. This is because the lactic acid will begin forming due to the lack of oxygen present for the aerobic respiration to take place. The lactic acid would cause the muscles to experience fatigue therefore, reducing the ability to continue the squeezing action. 1. As the trials progressed, the strength of the muscles decreased as well because of the experienced muscle fatigue due to the lactate threshold. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oxygen debt in the muscles is reached when oxygen levels are much lower than required during strenuous physical activity, causing lactate fermentation to occur in the cells leading to muscle fatigue. The results found in the experiment were the number of squeezes in the first trial for the dominant and non dominant hands were significantly higher than the remaining ones. The results also showed as the trials continued, the number of muscle contractions decreased steadily which supported the hypothesis. However, there were some increased numbers for the dominant hand from trial 4 to 5 and trial 9 to 10. The non dominant hand expressed similar unexpected results from trial 6 to 7 and trial 9 and 10. The reasons for these results might be due to the finger muscles being worked at the high intensity for a long period of time causing the muscles to consume higher amounts of oxygen thus producing more ATP production. This would cause the muscles to create more contractions towards the end of the trials. The unexpected results could also be caused by experimental errors such as faulty clothespins. The springs connecting the two ends of the clothespin was tight causing the number of contractions as the trials progressed having a more significant decrease. This is because the amount of energy required to open and close the clothespin would be higher, causing the lactate threshold to occur quicker. Due to this, the number of squeezes would decrease drastically as the trials progressed, in contrast to if the springs were normal. This would change the results by the difference between the trials not being evident therefore, not demonstrating the effects of muscle fatigue. Another factor that altered this experiment was the participant s condition, Palmar Hyperhidrosis excessive sweating on the palms which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Analysis Of Paul Laurence Dunbar s Sympathy Essay Paul Laurence Dunbar was an African American writer who lived during the late 1800s. This tumultuous time period was filled with racism that limited the freedom and the voice of African Americans everywhere. This racism existed not only in the day to day lives of African Americans, but also in the sphere of literature and, thus, severely impacted Dunbar s life. Sympathy , published in 1899, is a poem that addresses the difference in treatment of white Americans and African Americans as well as African Americans desire for freedom from both a personal standpoint as a writer and also as a public figure speaking on behalf of the African American community. Sympathy is a reflection of Dunbar s own struggle as an African American poet during the late 19th century. During this time, African Americans were judged as socially and economically inferior and lacking the tools of upward class mobility: proper English speech, literacy, and a Western education (Roman 33). This view of African Americans was translated into the literary field by the leading elite literary figure William Dean Howells, who believed that dialect poetry was the only form of authentic and proper African America speech (Roman 33). Howells beliefs led to editors choosing to only publish dialect poetry which forced Dunbar to discontinue writing in his preferred literary style of Standard English. In this way, the editors became the cage that held the bird. Dunbar contrasts the idea of the caged bird ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Fishing Is Fishing Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do ... • 45. Descriptive Statistics Of A Distribution Of Job... Table 1 presents the descriptive statistics of variables used in this study. Based on the ACS 2009 2013, the median housing price and median rent in Chicago metropolitan area are $266,371 and $912, respectively. The average value of job accessibility and mixed land use are 1.01 and 2.57, respectively. Figure 3 presents a Kernel distribution of job accessibility and mixed land use, which shows that they have different distributions. Average room is 2.64 and average year built is 61. Average housing cost is $1,368. Average age and average household size is 36 and 2.66, respectively. The proportions of black and Hispanic are about 20%. Average residential density is 7.25 (housing/mile2), and the proportion of single housing is about 50%. The average distance to nearest park is 0.38mile, and the average vacancy rate is 10%. As discussed above, our unit of analysis is census tract, and 2,014 census tracts are used in this study. Figure 3. Density of Job Accessibility Index and Mixed Land Use Figure 4 presents the spatial distribution of job accessibility measured based on the equation (9) and mixed land use measured based on the equation (11). Job accessibility decreases as distance from the CBD increases, but interestingly job accessibility in the northern part from the CBD is high. Although many reasons may affect this spatial distribution of job accessibility, this can be simply explained that job supply is higher than job demand. This pattern of job accessibility seems ... • 46. King Henry Iv Part 1 Analysis In the creation of a text the composer s choices relating to the ways in which they construct the text are used to position the responder towards a desired interpretation. This is particularly evident in texts concerning people and politics as the composers shaping of the text manipulates the responder to favour a particular political view or person s perspective. In the play King Henry IV Part One (c.1597) writer William Shakespeare constructs the text so that the audience conforms to his idea of the rightful ruler as influenced by his personal and historical context. Similarly, in the television series The Borgias (2011) created by Neil Jordan the text is constructed so that the audience favours the corrupt Pope despite his flaws, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This conflict is the result of the opposing views of who is the best option for the next Pope and therefore what is best for Rome. Della Rovere believes that while Borgia has organising genius the church more importantly needs honesty, propriety and goodness , all of which he accuses Borgia of lacking. Both Borgia and della Rovere are corrupt, however, the audience is positioned to support the Borgia despite his flaws. He is portrayed as the Spanish white Moor and the despised underdog. However his ambition and determination fuels him to achieve his goals and the audience is positioned to admire this. This is particularly evident in a scene in the first episode between Borgia and della Rovere where the two were sat next to each other in a darkened hallway. Della Rovere threatens Borgia asserting, I shall fight you to the end and beyond if that need be, with any means necessary. Della Rovere is characterised through the used of lighting, he is shown in shadows and darkness. Whereas Borgia is illuminated by the opposing window when he says, I do tend to win whatever battles I fight before symbolically rising above della Rovere.
