Telework Case
With the use of technology increasing substantially as well as with the new generation who relies on
such technology, telework has become the future of work. Companies embrace and adopt
telecommunicating practices, as the benefits are clear. For this reason, telework was chosen as a
project to be implemented in the business in order to gain profit and in turn reduce turnover. Berkeley
College conducted a comprehensive program that analyzed companies such as AT T. This study was
conducted to discern the percentage of savings that would result from such action. Thus, AT T initiated
30,000 employees nationally to begin to telecommute from home. Through the next five years, they
studied this program and found that AT T was able to save ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Telecommuting requires little investment compared to the projected return on the project. Though
financially it seems that implementing telecommuting is a positive investment, the Blue Apron
company is still relatively small and new compared to other larger companies such as AT T who have
implemented telework into their company. This means that are certain precautions that the company
should take prior to investing. The recommendations are that in making decisions about which
employees will be designated for telework. Companies should review their quality of work of the
employee and their productivity levels. Telework can be said to increase productivity of the
employees, but it is possible that if telecommuting put into place that the quality of the employees
work could begin to suffer. Furthermore, it is imperative to ensure that their positions are appropriate.
For instance, telecommunicating would best serve data processing tasks, bookkeeping, or accounting
jobs. For positions within the Blue Apron company that are more geared towards collaboration and
innovation as telecommunicating can lead to isolation in the workplace because it can create a barrier
between teams, one that in the traditional workplace is not present. Also, make sure that smaller start
up companies wait until they have had continuous profit growth for

Roman House Slaves
A Roman Villa was a upper class country house built for Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. A
Roman Villa is a brilliant architecture complexes and were decorated with paintings and sculpture. A
Villa of a wealthy Roman family was much larger and more delightful than a regular standard Roman
house. A Roman Villa had multiple rooms. The multiple rooms included a triclinium (dining room),
peristyle (garden), impluvium (pool), culina (kitchen), and cubiculum (the bedrooms). Some Roman
Villas had sloping roofs, covered in broaded tiles. The Roman Villas windows were covered with
blinds of linen, but most likely covered with shutters of wood. The very wealthy had glass windows.

The Importance Of Creatine
Creatine is an organic molecule that is found in the human body as well as other vertebrate animal s
tissue ( Creatine ). It is considered an amino acid. Creatine is made naturally in the liver or can be
taken as a supplement ( Creatine ). Creatine has shown that when taken as a supplement it has many
benefits to the human body.
Structure and Properties: The formula for creatine is; C4H9N3O2 ( Creatine ). The structure is: By
looking at the structure of creatine and the bonds present, we can understand a lot of the properties.
The melting point of creatine is 255 degrees Celsius ( Creatine ). This is a relatively high boiling point
for a molecule. The high boiling point is due to the hydrogen bonds present between the oxygen and
hydrogen and the nitrogen and hydrogen. Hydrogen bonds are very strong and not easily broken.
Hydrogen bonds increase strength with numbers, this causes the melting point to be higher in a
molecule with more than one area where hydrogen bonding is present. Hydrogen bonding can occur
with the oxygen and the nitrogen in the molecule.
Shapes:
The shapes are determined by the bonds and the lone pairs on the atom. The bonds and lone pairs
cause the molecule to bend into different shapes dependent on the number of bonds and lone pairs.
They bend into a specific shape with different angle degrees.
Chirality:
Chirality refers to the mirror image of a molecule ( Chirality and Stereoisomers ). To identify a

(3) The two main types are the logical slope, and the psychological slope, and it is worth taking the
time to distinguish the two. b. Logical slippery slopes exist when there are no clearly defined
boundaries that can be used to draw distinctions between different cases, and thus any line drawn in
the sand between two extremes will have some degree of arbitrariness about it. Suppose that a
particular company allows its employees to accept small gifts from prospective suppliers. How should
small be defined in those circumstances? Clearly a gift that has no monetary value would be
acceptable, and an expensive piece of jewelry would be unacceptable, but there exists a large gray area
in between in which the acceptability or unacceptability of a gift is not so clear.
In relation to police acceptance of gratuities, it could be argued that although there seems to be a big
difference between accepting a cup of coffee and accepting a six figure bribe to look the other way
while a murder is carried out, this is not really the case. For there is a logical slippery slope here, given
that there is only a small difference between accepting a cup of coffee, and accepting a cup of coffee
and a doughnut, and only a small difference between accepting a

In Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World, Jennifer Armstrong demonstrates difficulties that Shackleton
and 2 of his men have to face. To begin, Shackleton and 2 of his men went on a 2 week journey from
Elephant Island to South Georgia island. Facing many difficulties of the ocean, they finally reached
the South Georgia Island. However, they felt like they werent the only 3 people on the island. But they
also werent the only people who have felt this fourth presence. Instead of hiking onward through the
island, they came across many situations where they had to hike around. Including facing a big
mountain and waterfall. The mountain was the only way to keep the men on the right track. So instead
of turning around, they decided to slide

Introduction
It is hard to accept that nowadays, organizations get along without having an astute and decisive
information system. Providing a reliable and coherence information system requires a solid security
framework that ensures confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity of the critical
organizational assets. Human factors play a significant role for information security. In particular,
human characteristics behavior impacts information security and ultimately associated risks.
Information Security and Types of Human Factor Errors
Humans are consistently referred to as the weakest link in security. (Schneier, 2007) An exclusive
focus on the technical aspects of security, without due consideration of how the human interacts with
the system, is clearly inadequate. This section includes the types of human factor errors that can lead
to security violations. A number of reasons for these errors will also be discussed. Information security
breaches can be categorized in a number of different ways. There are five different types of human
factor errors, which can be used to explain information security breaches. First, there are acts of
omission, in which people forget to perform a necessary action. For

Determining The Ph Of Household Items
Determining the pH of Household Items
March 22, 2016: Sara, Sam
Introduction: Everyday household items can be seen as just household items . However, it is often not
realized that we could actually determine the pH very easily. It could also be important to know the
pH in everyday life. For example, it is important to keep track of human pH levels. Some people are
curious to see the pH of their own body, which is a great use to keep acidic levels leveled. Another use
in real life is determining the pH of pools. Whether it s your own or a public pool, pH indicators come
in hand to make sure the pool is sanitary and safe. pH indicators are indicators that contain
halochromic synthetic compound which is added to a solution so that it can be ... Show more content

An example would be pure water. Most of the time the pH is determined by pH paper but there are
also other ways to determine the pH. For example, in this lab, cabbage juice was used. Cabbage juice
is a great pH indicator because it can be homemade and easy to access.
Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this experiment is to use both cabbage juice and pH paper to
determine the pH of household items. This way, we can tell which products are basic and which one
are acidic. If we use cabbage juice as an universal pH indicator by comparing it to pH paper then pH
determined by the cabbage juice will be unstable because by using cabbage juice, it can be different
depending on how diluted it is.
List of Materials needed:
1 drop bottle of cabbage juice
Beakers (depending on how many items)
pH paper
Spot plate(s)
Household products (Dish detergent, coffee, laundry detergent, milk, tap water, etc)
Procedure:
1. In order to find the pH of each household item by using pH paper, the pH paper was placed on the
drop plate. Using the dropper, start by having the household item dropped onto the pH paper.
Immediately observe in order to spot any colour changes on the pH paper. To determine the pH by
using the pH scale and record the pH on your table of observations. Depending on what the pH is, it
could be very acidic, basic or neutral. Repeat these steps for the other products.
2. The second step in this lab is to use

Marie Maynard Daly
Throughout Gender and Race in the Physical Sciences, I have been struck by how rarely in STEM we
shed a light on the women of color that already exist and thrive in the sciences. Often, when we
discuss diversity in the sciences, we only discuss it in the frame of a problem. More specifically, we
tend to focus on the problem of there not being enough of these women in the field. As a result of the
lack of attention paid to pioneering women in STEM, many young people of all backgrounds are
inclined to believe that there are no women of color doing great things in the field that there are no
role models. With this paper, and an on campus event to be held in the spring, I hope to challenge
people s assumptions about what a scientist looks like, and inspire people through a discussion of
innovative women of color.

How To Overcome Influenza In 1918
Influenza is the most common disease that is called the flu. What caused the flu to start? What

with other diseases because of the symptoms. Symptoms are a big thing that people want to look for if
that person has the flu. So many names for just one disease. Why can t there just be one? The Spanish
flu is one of them which appeared in the European country in 1918. The flu spread far and wide
because of the troops in World War 1. World War 1 made its own pandemic. On a large scale, war
provided a great place for a disease. With weakened immune systems, short on food, traveling, and
wounded people are a big problem. On a regular basis, when a new strain develops, its homeland is
East Asia. And some think that domestic or wild ducks in Asia may also be incubators for new strains
of the disease. The great flu pandemic of 1918 killed millions of people around the world. 40% of the
people got killed because of the flu. Once in forever, influenza is just a secondary infection, but now it

Shakespeare wrote a poem called Sonnet 73. In this poem a man is coming to the realization of his

few, do hang upon those boughs which shake against the cold: bare, ruined chords, where late the
sweet birds sang. The man is comparing his life to the falling leaves on the tree. They both were so
full of life, but now they are not. The leaves falling are is symbol of the man s hair falling out. Foster
says Shakespeare is really talking about, namely the speakers standing on the edge of old age.

You re in an unstable bunker that goes to only the top of your shoulders. You re in Iraq, a land you

at you to fire at your enemies. You freeze. This was not what you remember signing up for. You came
to this foreign land because you wanted to defend yourself and because you love America. When
aiming at stationary targets not firing back, you felt in control. You didn t really think about what you

As former American sergeant Camilo Mejia said, There s no higher assertion of freedom than to
follow your conscience. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned
because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was
sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The
disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for himself. When
making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself
from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying
true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what
really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams and
beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There s a chance you have a certain theory that
no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow
others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It s easy to be misunderstood for following your
conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for
example, are looked down by some people but are simply following their true beliefs. These are not
necessarily lifelong values because some people develop these after many years. One of

Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income
During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to
higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer
holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the
investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a
large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the
value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995).
Realization of Capital Income
Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital
gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring
taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income,
long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize
the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a
higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995)
contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a
higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the
artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones

The Battle Of Dien Bien Phu

Period 4
Battle of Dien Bien Phu (1954)
The Battle of Bien Dien Phu was the first crucial engagement in the first Indochina War. It took place
in March 13, 1954 May 7, 1954. This battle was a symbolic turning point in Indochina. The Battle of
Dien Bien Phu was fought between French forces and the Viet Minh communists. The French wanted
to convert Vietnam as one of their colonies, but on the other hand, Vietnam wanted their
independence. After the French forces took over the Dien Bien Phu valley in late 1953, Viet Minh
commander, Vo Nguyen, deported and placed heavy artillery. The Viet Minh soldiers set up the
artillery in caves of mountains overlooking the French camp, to break the French lines. When the
French were defeated, there was a formal negotiation.
Geneva Accords
(1954)
The Geneva Conference of 1954 was a meeting between many countries that agreed to end hostilities
and restore peace in French Indochina and Korea. It was signed by France and North Vietnam. This
produced a set of treaties called Geneva Accords. The Geneva Accords organized a settlement which
brought an end to the first Indochina War. This agreement was reached at the end of the Geneva
Conference. These agreements temporarily separated Vietnam into two zones, a northern zone to be
governed by the Viet Minh, and a southern zone to be governed by the state of Vietnam. A

Before the Taliban took over Afghanistan the country was fairly progressive in terms of women s
rights. There were women in Parliament, medicine, law, engineering and many other creditable
professions (Shanahan). The majority of teachers were women (Shanahan). Half of the civil servants
and university students were women (Shanahan). It seems the Afghan society was much like our own
in relation to gender equality.
The current situation in Afghanistan contrasts the old one as black does white. Few women are
permitted to work. Those who are must do so inside their homes (Stop). Girls are banned from
attending school after the age of eight (Stop). A journalist speaks of girls not being allowed to leave
the state orphanage building since 1996 although the boys go outside every day to attend school and
play (Stop). The Taliban have severely limited women s access to medical services because male
physicians aren t allowed to treat women and only a few selected female physicians can work only if
they are veiled and treat only women (Stop).
The punishments for violating the Taliban s laws are even more appalling than the laws themselves

Love Should Grow Up Like A Wild Iris In The Fields By...
Love Should Grow up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields is an exquisite literary piece that exhumes the
pragmatism of love. Griffin s poem is filled with compelling comparisons that display her true
feelings on the matter. Even though love can be beautiful, this sentiment is not comparable to an iris in
the field. Griffin believes that love is flawed, much like humans. Moreover, love is more closely
related to the iris of an eye. Throughout Love Should Grow up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields Susan
Griffin provokes her readers to ponder why they consistently enslave themselves with the burden of
daily monotony, instead of enjoying the simplicity of love. Griffin uses two metaphors in her poem
when describing love, as a flower, as well as the iris of an eye. Her comparisons are as compelling as
they are forthright. Using her comparisons, Griffin describes love as predictable, expected and routine.
Realistically, love most resembles the iris of an eye, rather than a beautiful flower in the field.
Throughout her poem, Griffin makes a concise correlation between love and both irises. In the first

Food Inseecurity And Marginal Food Security In The United...
By definition, households that are viewed as food secure are able to enjoy a variety of foods without
having any sort of limit, thus proceed to have an active and healthy lifestyle (Gregory Coleman
Jensen, 2017, 5). Those who are food secure have no worries of when their next meal will be. In
contrast, food insecurity is the lack of access to the basic necessity of food due to having low
availability of money and other resources. This issue is also affecting many people today in America.
Food insecurity is currently affecting 21% of families in the United States (Shankar, Rainjade,
Deborah, 2017, 135). There are differences between those who are food secure and those who are food
insecure. There are also varying degrees of those who face low food insecurity and extremely low
food insecurity. As previously stated, those who are food secure have plentiful necessities of food and
do not have any stress of their next meal. These people are characterized by high food security. A
recent sample study of 7,802 people conducted this year back in May, found that 57.7% of adults in
America were food secure (Leung, Tester, and Laraia, 2017, 730). Marginal food security is a step
lower than those who are labeled with high food security, but this type is not classified as severity.
Marginal food security involves homes who sometimes reach anxiety about not having enough food in
the house, but the quality, variety, and quantity of their food intake are not lowered (Gregory

we can easily measure practically. It is also related to Even Magic mass number. This type of system
participates in many forms of fractionation. This system should be conservative in the process.
Generally, sources are limited to others and quantity. It may be related to the signal such as high noise
in the system. Phosphorus 31 is also little bit less sensitive than proton and somewhat higher sensitive
than carbon. It has also wide chemical shift range. Application of P 31: Phosphorus is mainly used in
NMR spectroscopy (Nuclear magnetic resonance). It is one kind of analytical technique because it has
100 % isotopic abundance and relatively high magnetogyric ratio compare to other isotopes. It has
also spin of ½ which makes spectra easy to understand and interpret. It also used to assay purity and to

The Acts of Leadership in Black Hearts Essay
Introduction
Deceased philosopher Bertrand Russell once said, War does not determine who is right only who is
left . Those left are the soldiers of the 1 502nd, specifically Bravo Company 1st plt, and the Janabi
family and to a greater extent, the ever changing global world we all live in today. The tragic events
that conspired in a small Iraqi village became a microcosm of how leadership failures at every level
shaped the actions of a few soldiers who committed atrocious acts. One can also see how a high

LTC Kunk s mission was twofold. His BN was to deploy to a region in the Euphrates valley that was
south of Baghdad, dubbed the Triangle of Death . An American presence had only lightly occupied the
area and the insurgency in that region was multiplying. They were unleashing havoc on American
troops in the area as well as civilians. 1 502nd was also tasked with training a division within the Iraqi
Army in the hope that they would secure the area once American troops departed for good. 1 502nd
deployed to Iraq in October of 2005. LTC Kunk split his forces into 3 elements. Kunk gave his
toughest missions to Bravo and Charlie companies. Their AO and FOB was away from the rest of the
BN and violence was considered the worse in this area. Once the orders were received by the
company commanders, each company pushed out to their respective FOBs. It did not take long for
Bravo Company to start taking casualties. 1st PLT was being hit particularly hard. One of the first
things Bravo Company did was set up TCPs in designated areas within and on the outskirts of the
town. These were stationary targets that insurgents picked up on quickly. They attacked the TCPs
frequently and the TCPs were normally guarded by a minimal amount of soldiers. IEDs were also
affecting Bravo s combat strength within the AO. It did not take long for morale to drop, especially in
1st PLT. Within the first 4 months of the deployment, 1st PLT had lost their PL and PSG as well as a

Hamburgers Should Be Taught In Schools
Since schools have implemented the Common Core standards, many parents find themselves
increasingly confused by the coursework their children bring home, feeling incapable of providing
homework help. Because the methods kids are now learning in school are dramatically different than
those you might have been taught, the changes may seem arbitrary and unnecessary. However, as the
expert math tutors at Mathnasium of La Cañada explain, the new standards are intended to engender a
deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and why they work.
For example, traditional elementary school problems could be solved by counting. If presented with a
problem like:
A hamburger costs $2. How much do 4 hamburgers cost?
A child could simply count up to

Essay On Michelle Obama
A leader is someone who timelessly practice guiding others in pursuit of a goal, or desired outcome.
At the most fundamental level, a leader is someone who motivates, inspires and guides others toward
pre established goals. One of the most prominent leaders and inspirational person is Michelle
Lavaughn Robinson Obama, former First Lady and married to Barack Obama, the former 44th
President of the United States. During her time as an attorney and First Lady, Mrs. Obama has been an
advocate for women s rights, poverty awareness, a mentor, a supporter of military families, healthy
eating and has been a fervent opponent of inequality (Slevin,2015). Michelle Obama is a noteworthy
because she possesses leadership characteristics that inspire, motivate and made changes to the way
American citizens live and see life; she became a beacon of hope.
Michelle Obama is the topic of this research for she is a role model and inspiration to Americans
across the nation. Michelle s life has shown nothing but mere dedication, outstanding perseverance, a
willingness to learn, affect change and be a leader to those who believe and admire her work. Raised
on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Obama is the daughter of Fraser Robinson III, a city water
plant employee and Democratic precinct captain (Slevin, 2015). During her early years, Michelle has
seen the detrimental effects segregation can have on a community, which was later reflected on her
fight against inequality. Being raised on the

Comparison Of Jane Eyre And Jane Eyre
Comparison between the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, and the homologous film from 1996
Berendi Camelia, EN CH
The 1847 novel by Charlotte Brontë has seen numerous film adaptations, which only added to its vast
popularity. The bildungsroman follows the plain featured, poor, but honest, intelligent and dignified
orphan s development from an oppressed young girl to an independent woman who has found balance
between her often conflicting principles and sentiments. In her quest for a home and a family to
belong to, Jane Eyre searches for both intellectual and emotional fulfillment, while strongly making a
statement about women s role in the Victorian society, gender and social iniquity and discrimination.
The themes of the novel remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John, his character and marriage proposal is not sufficiently emphasized in the film, neither is the fact
that Jane actually considered his request to marry him and go as missionaries in India. It is a fairly
significant moment in Jane s life, having encountered with a second proposal and romantic prospect,
although so unlike the first one. St. John serves as a foil to Rochester: the first one is cold, austere,
ambitious, religious and reserved, while the other is passionate, impetuous, dark and mysterious.
Marrying Rochester, Jane would fulfill her emotional need for love and affection but would neglect
her duty to her moral principles and to her dignity (by becoming a mistress while Bertha was still
alive). On the other hand, marrying St. John would bring her spiritual and moral satisfaction (as she
would have a religious and righteous partner), while also leading a meaningful life as a missionary in
India and having the opportunity to be more than just a governess, but, nonetheless, it would be a
loveless, passionless marriage. This internal battle Jane faces between having to choose whether to
gratify her emotions or her moral principles is not highlighted in the film, although, in my opinion, it
represents a crucial point in her life. In the novel, she earnestly considers St. John s proposal before
finally making her decision: Shall I? I said briefly; and I looked at his features, beautiful in their
harmony, but strangely formidable in

Essay on Biography of Samuel Adams
Biography of Samuel Adams Samuel Adams: From the National Statuary Hall Collection at the U.S.
Capitol
Among those who signed the Declaration of Independence, and were conspicuous in the revolution,
there existed, of course, a great diversity of intellectual endowments; nor did all render to their
country, in those perilous days, the same important services. Like the luminaries of heavens each
contributed his portion of influence; but, like them, they differed, as star differeth from star in glory.
But in the constellation of great men, which adorned that era, few shone with more brilliancy, or
exercised a more powerful influence than Samuel Adams.

In 1763 it was announced, that the British ministry had it in view to tax the colonies, for the purpose
of raising a revenue, which was to be placed at the disposal of the crown. This news filled the colonies
with alarm. In Massachusetts, a committee was appointed by the people of Boston to express the
public sentiment in relation to this contemplated measure, for the guidance of the representatives to
the general court. The instructions of this committee were drawn by Mr. Adams. They formed, in
truth, a powerful remonstrance against the injustice of the contemplated system of taxation; and they
merit the more particular notice, as they were the first recorded public document, which denied the
right of taxation to the British parliament. They also contained the first suggestion of the propriety of
that mutual understanding and correspondence among the colonies, which laid the foundation of their
future confederacy. Ill these instructions, after alluding to the evils which had resulted from the acts of
the British parliament, relating to trade, Mr. Adams observes: If our trade may be taxed, why not our
lands? Why not the produce of our lands, and every thing we possess, or use? This we conceive
annihilates our charter rights to govern and tax ourselves. It strikes at our British privileges, which, as

Benefits And Costs Of Extra Pair Mating Essay
Throughout the years scientists have considered birds to be monogamous species, mainly because
majority of the animals that put in equal efforts(like birds) in rearing their offspring are. However
recent advancement in genetic fingerprinting technology shows that a significant proportion of the
offspring were conceived through Extra Pair Mating. Scientist still haven t fully understood what
factors lead to this behavior. However, with all the research done in this field there seems to be a
relative consensus between scientist about the benefits and costs associated with this behavior.
Scientists have hypothesized acquisition of good genes for the offspring, appraisal method for female
birds to seek future mates, direct help from extra pair males while raising the offspring as being some
of the more probable causes. However there are also costs related to these actions which include loss
of Paternal care for the offspring by the male parents, waste of time and resource and higher chances
of transmission of STDs. This literature review aims to analyze the benefits and costs of Extra Pair
Mating in birds to better understand the reasons and outcomes of this action.
BENEFITS OF EXTRA PAIR MATING
Researchers have found that Extra Pair mating increases the incidence for female birds to conceive
more genetically adapted offspring. Data derived from mortality rates of various flocks of birds
suggests that the higher the diversity of genes found in the males of a

being apart of him and became something for him to look at with his lens. He could not resist what

better than anything produced before It painted a girl as the hero of the story which on the 50 s was
not how it always was. We seen women being housewives and baby makers. Then being able to watch
Jefferies assumptions of his neighbor be put to rest once in for all was not only a great moment for the
characters in the movie but for the audience as well. Overall this movie was excellent and I highly

Majority Rules, Minority Rights By Elizabeth Bisbeth Silber
It is extremely important to protect the rights of the minority people in order to be able to live in a
democracy. One of the basis that a democracy follows by is the ability to protect the rights of the
minorities, so that everyone s voice can be heard and respected.
In an article called Majority Rules, Minority Rights by Elizabeth Bisbeth Silber, Bisbeth Silber talks
about how in the United States, the majority rules, but the minority has the right to rights, and explains
how the U.S. has to follow the rights given to its citizens. Bisbeth Silver writes, A sizable number of
Americans might loathe the idea of gay marriage. It might even be an affront to everything they hold

The Destructive Nature of the American Dream in F. Scott...
The concept of the American dream has been related to everything from religious freedom to a nice
home in the suburbs. It has inspired both deep satisfaction and disillusioned fury. The phrase elicits for
most Americans a country where good things can happen. However, for many Americans, the dream is
simply unattainable. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s Winter Dreams, Dexter Green, a hardworking young man
born into the middle class, becomes wrapped up in his pursuit to obtain wealth and status in his life.
These thoughts and ideas represent Dexter s fixation on his winter dreams, or, the idea of what the
American Dream means to him: gaining enough wealth to eventually move up in social class and
become somebody, someday. As Dexter attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Dexter s life is unintentionally controlled by these dreams, he does not realize that he is being
driven toward material success. He is unaware that these dreams are leading him to fall in love with
the woman who stands at the core of his materialistic fantasies. His complete focus in life becomes
geared toward gaining the love of a beautiful woman who expresses the glamour and promise of the
exclusive world (Perkins). Dexter begins to strongly believe that Judy Jones is his key to unlocking
the world of the rich and wealthy. By illustrating the luxurious lifestyle of Judy Jones, Fitzgerald
reveals how she represents, to Dexter, what life is like for the rich and prosperous. As well as
representing the upper class lifestyle, Judy, through her beauty and manner, represents Dexter s dream
of obtaining a higher status that he has wished for ever since he was young. After passionately kissing
Judy and realizing that the
color and the mobility of her mouth gave a continual impression of flux, of intense life, of passionate
vitality, he discovers that he had wanted Judy Jones ever since he was a proud, desirous little boy
(Fitzgerald 1013). This life and passion that she presents shows that she offers more than just wealth,
but beauty and love as well. Malcolm Cowley, author of The Romance of Money,

Critical Reflection
Anyone can turn his weaknesses into strengths , I was reading the book David and Goliath by
Malcolm Gladwell, and the book was about a battle between David, the underdog, and Goliath, the
giant, and it explains how David defeated a giant by using his unconventional strategies. It also talks
about how some underdogs can overcome their weaknesses; in addition, it also explains how power
comes in different forms. Malcolm Gladwell proved his arguments by providing some real life
experiences of different underdogs. According to Gladwell, an underdog is a person who is
underestimated by everyone to perform any task successfully. Malcolm Gladwell also explains many
other terms to prove his argument. I have experiences in my student life where I felt like an underdog.
I felt disempowered because of my weaknesses. I still remember the first day of my English 838 class
at College of San Mateo, and I felt so unconfident in the classroom because I was not a native speaker.
There were also moments in my college classes where I felt empowered because of my strengths; for
example, I felt empowered in my Math 120 and pre calculus class because I already knew the
concepts of these classes. I had a lot of moments in my life where I felt empowered and disempowered
as a student, but learning from those moments helped me to succeed in my college classes.
I felt disempowered in my English 838 classroom because English was not my native language. I have
been in the United States for a year now. Earlier I was at the University of North Texas for a semester,
then I transferred to College of San Mateo because of some financial issues in spring 2017. I
registered for my English 838 class for the spring semester, but I was really worried about this class. I
was so nervous for taking English class because It was my first time taking an English class in the
United States. I came from a country where English is not a native language. Even though I was from
an English medium high school in India, I was so nervous because I wasn t sure that if I am ready to
take a college level English Class. I was so nervous on the first day of my English class. There were a

English 12 and American Government

CAPITALISM !1
It has been around since the Middle Ages, that we know of, and most likely before that.
It is usually the first type of economy before evolving into another kind. Its main sources of life are
competition and an ever changing society. This almost living breathing creature of our own device is
called capitalism. Capitalism has been the biggest form of economy in the United
States and now throughout the world. Prosperity is usually following right behind because of all the
money produced, people employed, growth occurring, and overall well being a society experiences.
Although great, capitalism has its down falls, like monopolies. We as an American society trust that
the government will monitor, not just monopolies, but the other areas neglected by capitalism.
Although the government has done a great job, they have, in a way, over stepped their bounds and
have been slowly putting their hands on the throat of the beast we call capitalism. America should
promote capitalism and not restrict it. With competition from other forms of government and
countries, America needs all the help it can get to remain a world power. First, the rise of capitalism is
astounding and mesmerizing. Second, the reasons why capitalism is so beneficial and a boon to
society. Third, how restrictions, spending, and taxes are making a capitalistic

Chapter 22 The Hindu Rite Of Entry Into Heaven
Hindu death rites Chinese death rites In Chapter 22, The Hindu Rite of Entry into Heaven , Knipe
discusses the Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa after the death in Hinduism which is continuing elaboration in two
thousands years. In ancient Hinduism, fire is believes to be the way to transfer to God. Via cremation,
considered as a sacrifice act, one can transforming from preta ( ghost ) to pitṛ (father) and enter the
world of ancestors pitṛs. After the cremation, the ashes will be thrown to the Ganges or other river in
medieval and modern rites since water is the second transfer medium. If the death rite of the deceased
isn t operate properly, the deceased will become ghost and will do harm to the whole family among six
generation. By sacrifices, one is believed to feed gods and ancestors and can re energize universe. This
homology thoughts are same as Zoroastrianism where deceased go to the cosmic. However, while
Hinduism believes in karma, Zoroastrianism sees souls are more trapped in soma. In Hinduism old
belief, the transmigration(Saṃsāra) is operative and rebirth in a new body from the heaven(the
Fathers) which is associate with the lunar cycle is really easy(Brhadaranyaka upanisad 4.4.3 4). Later

Social Perceptions Of Csr Line Up With Their Concurrent...
This research has primarily emphasized the importance of CSR to both individuals and the community
at large, but one question remains underexplored: how do consumer perceptions of CSR line up with
their concurrent expectations from the company? The literature shows little agreement; definitions are
murky and left to individualized scholars, and evaluation of company s efforts, as previously
discussed, are difficult to present to major shareholders within a company, to say nothing of informing
consumers. Consumer Perceptions Those who are being served (i.e. shareholders or high need

Walther et al. (2010) presented an interesting caveat to this discussion of consumer population
makeup, with consumers both informed and casual responding to cues at the point of sale. However,
this study forms a stopgap towards a truly symbiotic relationship with consumers. As with major
issues in society, a major panacea exists in the form of proper education. A recent study showed that
sound and informative communication channels based in information stemming from food purchases
could effectively induce consumers to consider brands actively participating in CSR initiative
(Devviney et al., 2010). Mohr et al. (2001) executed interviews to investigate what consumers believe
to be the real motives of firms to engage in CSR. Mohr et al. created four categories of company
motives based on the answers of the respondents: (1) rewards sought for the firm itself, (2) rewards
sought mostly for the firm but partly for others, (3) rewards sought mostly for others but partly for the
firm, and (4) rewards sought solely for others (p. 59). The results of Mohr et al. (2001) indicate that
only 7% (3 out of 41 respondents) considers the motives of the firm to be truly altruistic. 29%, almost
one third, believes that firms only incorporate CSR out of totally self interested behavior. However,
most of the respondents believe that there are mixed motives as to why firms engage in CSR. A
consumer s perception on the motives of the firm is very

  • 2. Telework Case With the use of technology increasing substantially as well as with the new generation who relies on such technology, telework has become the future of work. Companies embrace and adopt telecommunicating practices, as the benefits are clear. For this reason, telework was chosen as a project to be implemented in the business in order to gain profit and in turn reduce turnover. Berkeley College conducted a comprehensive program that analyzed companies such as AT T. This study was conducted to discern the percentage of savings that would result from such action. Thus, AT T initiated 30,000 employees nationally to begin to telecommute from home. Through the next five years, they studied this program and found that AT T was able to save ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Telecommuting requires little investment compared to the projected return on the project. Though financially it seems that implementing telecommuting is a positive investment, the Blue Apron company is still relatively small and new compared to other larger companies such as AT T who have implemented telework into their company. This means that are certain precautions that the company should take prior to investing. The recommendations are that in making decisions about which employees will be designated for telework. Companies should review their quality of work of the employee and their productivity levels. Telework can be said to increase productivity of the employees, but it is possible that if telecommuting put into place that the quality of the employees work could begin to suffer. Furthermore, it is imperative to ensure that their positions are appropriate. For instance, telecommunicating would best serve data processing tasks, bookkeeping, or accounting jobs. For positions within the Blue Apron company that are more geared towards collaboration and innovation as telecommunicating can lead to isolation in the workplace because it can create a barrier between teams, one that in the traditional workplace is not present. Also, make sure that smaller start up companies wait until they have had continuous profit growth for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Importance Of Creatine Creatine is an organic molecule that is found in the human body as well as other vertebrate animal s tissue ( Creatine ). It is considered an amino acid. Creatine is made naturally in the liver or can be taken as a supplement ( Creatine ). Creatine has shown that when taken as a supplement it has many benefits to the human body. Structure and Properties: The formula for creatine is; C4H9N3O2 ( Creatine ). The structure is: By looking at the structure of creatine and the bonds present, we can understand a lot of the properties. The melting point of creatine is 255 degrees Celsius ( Creatine ). This is a relatively high boiling point for a molecule. The high boiling point is due to the hydrogen bonds present between the oxygen and hydrogen and the nitrogen and hydrogen. Hydrogen bonds are very strong and not easily broken. Hydrogen bonds increase strength with numbers, this causes the melting point to be higher in a molecule with more than one area where hydrogen bonding is present. Hydrogen bonding can occur with the oxygen and the nitrogen in the molecule. Shapes: The shapes are determined by the bonds and the lone pairs on the atom. The bonds and lone pairs cause the molecule to bend into different shapes dependent on the number of bonds and lone pairs. They bend into a specific shape with different angle degrees. Chirality: Chirality refers to the mirror image of a molecule ( Chirality and Stereoisomers ). To identify a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(3) The two main types are the logical slope, and the psychological slope, and it is worth taking the time to distinguish the two. b. Logical slippery slopes exist when there are no clearly defined boundaries that can be used to draw distinctions between different cases, and thus any line drawn in the sand between two extremes will have some degree of arbitrariness about it. Suppose that a particular company allows its employees to accept small gifts from prospective suppliers. How should small be defined in those circumstances? Clearly a gift that has no monetary value would be acceptable, and an expensive piece of jewelry would be unacceptable, but there exists a large gray area in between in which the acceptability or unacceptability of a gift is not so clear. In relation to police acceptance of gratuities, it could be argued that although there seems to be a big difference between accepting a cup of coffee and accepting a six figure bribe to look the other way while a murder is carried out, this is not really the case. For there is a logical slippery slope here, given that there is only a small difference between accepting a cup of coffee, and accepting a cup of coffee and a doughnut, and only a small difference between accepting a ... Providing a reliable and coherence information system requires a solid security framework that ensures confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity of the critical organizational assets. Human factors play a significant role for information security. In particular, human characteristics behavior impacts information security and ultimately associated risks. Information Security and Types of Human Factor Errors Humans are consistently referred to as the weakest link in security. (Schneier, 2007) An exclusive focus on the technical aspects of security, without due consideration of how the human interacts with the system, is clearly inadequate. This section includes the types of human factor errors that can lead to security violations. A number of reasons for these errors will also be discussed. However, it is often not realized that we could actually determine the pH very easily. It could also be important to know the pH in everyday life. For example, it is important to keep track of human pH levels. Some people are curious to see the pH of their own body, which is a great use to keep acidic levels leveled. Another use in real life is determining the pH of pools. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example would be pure water. Most of the time the pH is determined by pH paper but there are also other ways to determine the pH. For example, in this lab, cabbage juice was used. Cabbage juice is a great pH indicator because it can be homemade and easy to access. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this experiment is to use both cabbage juice and pH paper to determine the pH of household items. This way, we can tell which products are basic and which one are acidic. If we use cabbage juice as an universal pH indicator by comparing it to pH paper then pH determined by the cabbage juice will be unstable because by using cabbage juice, it can be different depending on how diluted it is. List of Materials needed: 1 drop bottle of cabbage juice Beakers (depending on how many items) pH paper Spot plate(s) Household products (Dish detergent, coffee, laundry detergent, milk, tap water, etc) Procedure: 1. In order to find the pH of each household item by using pH paper, the pH paper was placed on the drop plate. Using the dropper, start by having the household item dropped onto the pH paper. Immediately observe in order to spot any colour changes on the pH paper. To determine the pH by using the pH scale and record the pH on your table of observations. Depending on what the pH is, it could be very acidic, basic or neutral. Repeat these steps for the other products. 2. The second step in this lab is to use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Marie Maynard Daly Throughout Gender and Race in the Physical Sciences, I have been struck by how rarely in STEM we shed a light on the women of color that already exist and thrive in the sciences. Often, when we discuss diversity in the sciences, we only discuss it in the frame of a problem. More specifically, we tend to focus on the problem of there not being enough of these women in the field. As a result of the lack of attention paid to pioneering women in STEM, many young people of all backgrounds are inclined to believe that there are no women of color doing great things in the field that there are no role models. With this paper, and an on campus event to be held in the spring, I hope to challenge people s assumptions about what a scientist looks like, and inspire people through a discussion of innovative women of color. Marie Maynard Daly Marie Maynard Daly was an African American biochemist, and the first woman of her race to receive her doctorate in chemistry in the United States ( Marie Maynard Daly ). Marie s father enrolled at Cornell University to study chemistry in his youth, but was unable to due to financial constraints, and was a postal clerk throughout her youth ( Marie M. Daly ). In the book How To Read Literature Like A Professor, the author, Thomas.C Foster, explains how seasons could be more than just a an indicator of the weather. Seasons of the year could tell many characteristics of a character. During books the seasons could give an insight on the emotions of a character, the age, or the time it may be taking place. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for himself. When making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams and beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There s a chance you have a certain theory that no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It s easy to be misunderstood for following your conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for example, are looked down by some people but are simply following their true beliefs. • 14. Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995). Realization of Capital Income Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income, long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995) contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Love Should Grow Up Like A Wild Iris In The Fields By... Love Should Grow up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields is an exquisite literary piece that exhumes the pragmatism of love. Griffin s poem is filled with compelling comparisons that display her true feelings on the matter. Even though love can be beautiful, this sentiment is not comparable to an iris in the field. Griffin believes that love is flawed, much like humans. Moreover, love is more closely related to the iris of an eye. Throughout Love Should Grow up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields Susan Griffin provokes her readers to ponder why they consistently enslave themselves with the burden of daily monotony, instead of enjoying the simplicity of love. Griffin uses two metaphors in her poem when describing love, as a flower, as well as the iris of an eye. Her comparisons are as compelling as they are forthright. Using her comparisons, Griffin describes love as predictable, expected and routine. Realistically, love most resembles the iris of an eye, rather than a beautiful flower in the field. Throughout her poem, Griffin makes a concise correlation between love and both irises. In the first verse Griffin begins ... By definition, households that are viewed as food secure are able to enjoy a variety of foods without having any sort of limit, thus proceed to have an active and healthy lifestyle (Gregory Coleman Jensen, 2017, 5). Those who are food secure have no worries of when their next meal will be. In contrast, food insecurity is the lack of access to the basic necessity of food due to having low availability of money and other resources. This issue is also affecting many people today in America. Food insecurity is currently affecting 21% of families in the United States (Shankar, Rainjade, Deborah, 2017, 135). There are differences between those who are food secure and those who are food insecure. There are also varying degrees of those who face low food insecurity and extremely low food insecurity. As previously stated, those who are food secure have plentiful necessities of food and do not have any stress of their next meal. These people are characterized by high food security. A recent sample study of 7,802 people conducted this year back in May, found that 57.7% of adults in America were food secure (Leung, Tester, and Laraia, 2017, 730). Marginal food security is a step lower than those who are labeled with high food security, but this type is not classified as severity. Marginal food security involves homes who sometimes reach anxiety about not having enough food in the house, but the quality, variety, and quantity of their food intake are not lowered (Gregory ...
