To The Bone Theory
Everybody has their own opinion of why people encounter personal problems, shaping their belief
of what makes therapy helpful. My theory posits that a combination of individual and systemic
factors produces personal problems. Therefore, to effectively address the multiple sources of a
problem, my theory of helping involves both behavioral and cognitive techniques. Although every
theoryhas limitations, helping professionals nevertheless develop their preferred approach over
time. Since theory is foundation to clinical social work, it is imperative for me to consider and
further develop my knowledge of theory. Individuals experience suffering for various reasons. My
theory assumes that a combination of individual and systemic factors causes... Show more content

When I realized the multiple sources of my own problems and considered the many causes of
others problems, I cultivated a belief in the multi perspective model. The importance of a
therapeutic relationship became evident during my own counselling experience. I did not sense this
relationship with my counsellor, and therefore, our sessions were ineffective. Additionally, I find
logic in cognitive and behavioral approaches. It is essential to change behaviorally; however, if one
does not also address underlying cognitive distortions, change is incomplete. Observing and
experiencing the power of both cognitive and behavioral treatments helped me to form this theory of

Human Trafficking Speech
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude , these are the words from the International Human
Bill of Rights that are supposed to protect us. However, that is not exactly the case. All around the
world there is illegal practices that involves a modern form of slavery, this form of slavery can not
be easily abolished, it often involves the practice of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the
illegal practice of transporting a person from one place to another, typically for a form of forced
labor, it goes against the words in the International Human Bill of Rights. There is human
trafficking all around the world, but the rate is higher in impoverished places such as Bangladesh,
Brazil and Haiti. Human trafficking occurs because of unstable political climates, families
economically disadvantaged, and being stuck in debt that is ever growing which one can not pay
with money. Unstable political climates are catalyst for human trafficking. The conditions of the
political system are tied to the government and the security in which the country has. In the article
Sex Trafficking of Women and Girls , it states it is easier to recruit and transport women, bribe
officials and forge passports and other travel documents (Deshpande, Neha A., and Nawal M. Nour).
If the government is not tight or well developed the chances of sneaking immigrants in is much
higher, this means it is easier to use them and force them into labor. Although human trafficking is

The HAM-D Response Paper
(Sharp, 2015). Due to the style of responses interviews should take between 15 and twenty
minutes (Sharp, 2015). This assessment proved to have value outside of a psychiatric setting
(Sharp, 2015). The HAM D is a multidimensional scale, assessments that are multidimensional
cannot be considered a good predictor of the total score. This means that two clients have have
the same scores on the HAM D and both scores can have a different meaning. The original HAM
D only encompassed 17 questions. It is the 17 item assessment that is considered the gold standard,
not the 21 item assessment. However, both assessments are intended to measure individuals that
are already diagnosed with depression and is scored between 0 and 4 points (Sharp, 2015).

Television s Impact On Television
One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More
particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around
today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very
family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has
changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way
families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television.
One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a
husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical familyin the 50s. Lucy stayed at
home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even
showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren t allowed to
see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very
common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison).
Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One
show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until
1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help
of the kids grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had

Analysis Of The Movie Waiting For Superman
Danny kinder key Waiting for Superman
2010 Mr. Davis Guggenheim an American film director and producer wrote and directed Waiting
for Superman , a documentary that deals with the American education system. Guggenheim argues
that they are failing more each year in producing successful students. He finds where the faults are
within the public educational system. He takes the time to show us some of the faces to those
numbers to make his pubic realize they are more than just numbers dropping off the charts. He
wishes to not only inform, but also to inspire others to act. This essay expresses how he portrays his
arguments effectively; also identifying and analyzing the strategies that Guggenheim uses to
organize and develop his ideas and determine who his intended audience is.
Guggenheim successfully persuades his audience, first by using the ethos appeal. He does this by
opening his film by explaining that as parent, he also worries and cares for the success of his own
children and is very aware of the degradation of the public education. He is also being fair minded
as he opens up about a previous film he created where he was actually supporting the idea that
public schools worked. Although he held those beliefs up so highly once, he s now changed
opinion. Guggenheim sincerely expressing why this has happened saying, Ten years later, it was
time to choose a school for my own children...and then reality set in. My feelings about

Delayed-Onset DOMS
INTRODUCTION
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is muscle soreness secondary to exercise, characterized by
increasing pain or discomfort during subsequent 24 72 hours, and subsiding within few days
(Elsevier 2009). This was often associated with athletes and coaches where they usually lead to
detrimental to their performance and recovery after activities. Although its physiological
mechanism has not yet determine, it may relate to primary mechanical damage that may happen to
muscle cells during exercise. Because of its transient nature (peak soreness 24 to 72 hours and
resolution of symptoms within 5 7 days) experimentally induced delayed onset muscle is used as a
model of myogenic pain to study the effects of different therapeutic modalities. Due to a ... Show

Such strategies include: massage, stretching, and anti inflammatory medications. Studies to date
have demonstrated different and mixed results of these treatments on delayed onset muscle
soreness, mostly with minimal analgesic effects, and inconsistent effects on strength, joint range
and CK levels.
Over the past decades cryotherapy has been as a strategy in the management of delayed onset
muscle soreness. Cryotherapy is a medical treatment in which all or part of the body is subjected
to cold temperature such as ice packs. (Collins English Dictionary Complete Unabridged 2012
Digital Edition). One of the techniques of cryotherapy that have been used is the ice immersion. Ice
immersion is a technique for administering therapeutic cold treatments to the distal extremities
(e.g., the ankle or hand) with a mixture of water and crushed, flaked, or cubed ice with a
temperature range 50МЉ to 60МЉ F (10МЉ 15МЉ C). (Medical Dictionary, 2009 Farlex and

Clinical Governance Essay
Critically analyse how clinical governance can ensure accountability of individuals and teams and
that nursing practice is safe and of a high standard?
As Defined by Scally and Donaldson 1998, clinical governance is:
A framework through which NHS organisations are accountable for continuously improving the
quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in
which excellence in clinical care will flourish (NHS Executive, 1998).
The aim of the NHS is to ensure continuous improvement in the standards of clinical care, to
prevent errors in clinical practice, to raise standards and improving outcomes offering access to a
range of healthcare services (Freedom D, 2002). This paper intends to ... Show more content on

The NSF and NICE create a means by which NHS trusts ensure the provision of quality standards by
making NHS employees accountable for setting, maintaining and monitoring standards of care
(DoH 1997). The National Institute for clinical excellence was founded in 1999 and consists of a
number of specialized organisations: the NHS centre for reviews and dissemination, national
prescribing agency, medical devices agency and institutes of public health. All aimed at creating and
maintaining national standards through effective management and cost effectiveness, through
audits and reviews of health policies. The commission for health improvement (CHI) aims to
monitor the delivery of these standards provided by NICE and NSF through national surveys of
the patients experience (Freedom D, 2002). This commission (CHI) sets out to review all NHS
trusts including community care. Each NHS trust will be visited over three to four years and be
reviewed to decide whether or not national standards are being met and NICE guidelines are being
adhered to.
The late 1980s and early 1990s saw a major change of emphasis. Medical and later clinical audit
became a requirement for hospital doctors working within the NHS. Clinical audit comprises: the
review of clinical performance , the refining of clinical practice and the measurement of
performance against agreed standards or targets (QIS, 2005). Hospitals and community health

Trend Micro Case Analysis
In the last past years, Trend Micro experienced a huge economic growth, especially in Mexico s
region. But, before 2012 there was an impacting declination in growth, in 2012 it was expected a
growth of 41,4% in 2014. As can be seen in the fishbone diagram, one of the reasons was because
the companies they bought didn t have the economic effect they expected, and their products were
not efficient for Trend Micro. Moreover, solutions were obsolete and were only able to solve old
problems rather than new ones. This problem can also be applied on employees as they resisted to
the changes, which were a must for the company, and were only prepared to solve old problems

although financially they were fine, there was no growth of the expected on a technological

ones considered them anymore and stop buying them. What is more, there were issues with moral
values, people started to quit because they didn t see a potential growth. If some competitors were
in decline, as can be seen in the SWOT analysis, there were new small competitors that found a
niche in the market with solutions that Trend Micro did not provide and started taking over their

Diary Of Anne Frank Literary Analysis
Have you ever been shot at? Have you ever been in a war? Every single character in The Diary of
Anne Frank and Freedom Writers could ve been able to say yes to that question before they even
entered high school. Anne, the girl who wrote in the diary, tried to survive the Holocaust. The
kids from Freedom Writers , were literally fighting for their lives in the middle of a gang war.
Being forced to grow up so fast like these kids had to cause different problems for each of them.
However, The Diary of Anne Frank and Freedom Writers teach readers that to thrive in life you
have to find a balance between humility and pride. Both in The Diary of Anne Frank and
Freedom Writers , the kids were put into situations that forced them to grow up fast. Some of the
kids in Ms. G s class were trying to provide for their families, and Anne was forced to be way
more self dependent than any young girl should be. Both Anne and the kids of room 203
struggled with Pride. For the kids in Freedom Writers , they had too much pride to admit they
were struggling and couldn t take it. For Anne, she had too much pride to show her real emotions
and thought she didn t need to confide in anyone. Thankfully for them, each of the kids in these
stories had someone to teach them how to be humble. Ms. G and Peter both provide a spot for the

awhile. On the other hand the kids in Freedom Writers were struggling but didn t know what to

Examples Of Unlocking Self-Values And Beliefs As A Nursing...
Unlocking Self Values and Beliefs as a Nursing Student According to Duffy Randall (2006), the
Sanskrit word mandala, meaning magic circle, circumference, and center, was first adopted by
Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung, to describe the drawings that he and his patients drew.
Each of the drawings within a mandala represent a connection to the artist, making every
mandala unique. Appendix #37, also known as mandala Me, Myself I , consist of the colours
blue, red, yellow, black, and white. Appendix #37 includes the images of a family of four, the
Canadian flag, and a stairwell on the clouds. This paper will identify three main values and
beliefs, and their points of origin, followed by clear and logical connections between self s values
and beliefs and how they impact and influence self as a nurse, the connection of each value/belief to
appendix #37, and finally, the comprehensive summary of the paper. A mandala is a form of art
where one can learn and grow, while increasing one s intellectual (Duffy Randall, 2006). The
purpose of the self mandala reflective paper is to use the drawings and images from the appendix
#37 as visual representations of one s values and beliefs, in order to consider the implications for
self as a nurse.

researchers. Comparing the population in Nigeria to the population in the United States of
America, it is twice the number of the population of Nigeria. According researchers, it is reported
that this is due to the fertility rate in the country however the fertility rate has gradually
deteriorated since the post World War II baby boom. Looking into the data collected by
researchers the population size of that of Nigeria is still higher than that of the United States. The
fertility rate of Nigeria is at 5.07 though larger than that of U.S and with the type of economy of
the country sinking into downturn, yet Nigerians are bringing more children in the world. The

Heterozygotes, which have the wild type phenotype, have normal sight which gives them the
advantage of finding a mate and have a better success with attracting a mate with their courtship
song (Kyriacou et al, 1978). The male heterozygous Drosophila had a better advantage at mating
than the homozygotes, which were the ebony, and therefore we predict there will be more wild
type by the end of the experiment. METHODS: In this experiment, the instructor provided us
with 30 ebony individuals and 20 wild type individuals. In order to get an exact amount of each
type, we anesthetized the flies and counted them off by gently using a fine point paint brush.
Then all 50 Drosophila were put into a population cage which had a lid that had six holes for the
centrifuge tubes. Two food tubes and four clean, empty tubes were added on the first day. Each
food tube consisted of half a cup full of food mixed with 6 7 milliliters of water. This was the fly
medium. The food should turn blue once the water is added. Each tube was labeled with a
number and with the date. Every two to three days we added one more food tube until all 6 tubes
contained the fly medium. After all 6 tubes were filled, the following days after we exchanged the
first food tube with a new food tube. At the end of the experiment, we fed the flies with a total of
8 food tubes. Then the flies were anesthetized, again. At the end of this four week lab, the number

Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson
This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids,
left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of
London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies.
The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults.
The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without
experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure.
In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient
point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival.
The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their
actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive,
(375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of
adults is slightly eased.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly
moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had
gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the
kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their
fear. This causes

The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor Essay
International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)
The ITER is an internationally funded research and development project which focuses on
constructing the world s first largest experimental nuclear fusion reactor. This project intends to
adopt the experimental and theoretical studies of plasma physics or tokomak (a device utilizing
electromagnetic fields to trap plasma) and apply it to construct a fully functional, nuclear fusion
power plant which will harness the energy made from nuclear fusion to create electricity.. This
project is funded by USA, China, India, the EU, Russia, Japan and South Korea. The stated
countries have funded a total of 6.6 billion pounds to the French government in order for the project
to commence.

This will ensure safety in case of any complications with the reactor.
With regards to the advantages of nuclear fusion, the raw fuel or energy itself is readily available.
The elements, deuterium and tritium are basically unlimited. Fusion will not emit toxic gas and
other deadly compounds into the atmosphere, unlike burning coal. Fusion will only release helium
gas, which will not have any effects on the atmosphere, as helium is very abundant on the
atmosphere, therefore it will not contribute to global warming. With regards to disadvantages, the
overall cost of constructing a facility which will harness the energy of nuclear fusion is extremely
high. ITER s project costs 10 billion Euros. With nuclear fission, the advantages are that, it is
inexpensive to create and harness the energy. Fission also does not create greenhouse gas. The
disadvantages are that, wastes are created from fission which can directly harm life and there is a
risk of a nuclear meltdown which will release electromagnetic radiation to its surroundings.
With chemical changes such as fossil fuel burnings, the advantages are that a lot of energy is
released during the combustion reaction and extremely cheap. Disadvantages are that, fossil fuels
release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming.
From the stated advantages and disadvantages, nuclear fusion seems to the cleanest source of
energy. It does

Andrew Carnegie Contributions
Andrew Carnegie s Contributions to Society
Andrew Carnegie s gifting the means for better education to the public started advancing American
society. The libraries he funded helped the common man get educated, which in turn, helped society
get more knowledgeable. The charitable trusts that he created sought to better many aspects in
education. The institutes and colleges that he founded and granted money to were scientific
research based, which also helped to progress American society. Through Carnegie s gifts of
libraries, institutes and charities to the general public, American society started to improve.
Carnegie funded many libraries in the United States, which he believed would help for the
improvement of mankind. According to the Dictionary of American Biography by Charles
Scribner s Sons, he gifted sixty million dollars of his fortune to libraries in the United States.
The thought process behind this seemed to be that for society to develop further, there would
have to be more public access to knowledge. Carnegie thought that libraries would allow for a
more knowledgeable society. In his essay in The North American Review titled Wealth he states
that, In bestowing charity, the main consideration should be to help those who will help
themselves... This belief shows why Carnegie would want to fund libraries because it is a facility
where people can help themselves. He wanted libraries to be available to all people who wanted
more knowledge. If enough

Formulating Equations And Unbiased Opinion
It is important to see a situation from both sides when trying to understand people. You have to see
it through their eyes, and climb into their skin and walk around in it. (Lee, 39) It s important when
you are sympathizing for somebody and when you are trying to understand the reasoning behind
someone s actions. It s of paramount importance to see through somebody s eyes and then walk a
mile in their shoes.
When formulating an opinion over the wrongdoing of a person, it is important to understand both
positions. In a courtroom, a judge has to accept two arguments and formulate an unbiased opinion.
If he or she were to only see one position and then create an opinion, then it would be unfair and
unjust. Also, if a person was caught with

The Emotional And Personal Theme Of Abortion By Gwendolyn...
The Mother is a poem about abortion by Gwendolyn Brooks. This poem is an emotional and
personal topic about abortion. Abortion is a topic not many people feel comfortable discussing
about, since it is a sensitive subject that people make it out to be. Gwendolyn Brooks allows you to
understand the perspective of a mother who is choosing to abort one s child and her feelings after
doing so. Although many might consider abortiona cruel decision a mother can make, one never
knows the circumstances a mother may be in, that she chose abortion as an option. Analyzing this
poem can help women cope if they experienced an abortion, help with the options of many women
experiencing a pregnancy, and encourage young girls to always protect themselves if they choose
to be sexually active. Ultimately, this poem s message can help reduce and impact current
societal ills, such as, suicide rates, depression, high school dropouts, and teenage pregnancy.
Abortions will not let you forget. You remember the children you got that you did not get The
first stanza is describing her unborn children and how the children will never realize certain
experiences in life. The speaker is describing a mother unable to forget the the dramatic events of
aborting her child. Thus, her left feeling very emotionally vulnerable end experiencing grief and
anxiety. Many women may struggle with accepting the decision of abortion when experiencing
tough obstacles to be put in a predicament of abortion. Woman who are most sensitive may feel
depressed or suicidal after the procedure of an abortion. Ultimately, many women who have
experienced an abortion or several abortions can read this poem and relate to it. Although it is a
very sensitive subject, women coping can feel freely to talk about abortion to help release the
grief and anxiety they may feel. With more women sharing about the experience of abortion, they
are able to help reduce suicide rates and depression. Leading to less money being spent to treat
mental illness, and a greater investment can be made towards educating young women to use
contraceptives. Along with the poem helping women cope with past abortions, it can also help
women experiencing a pregnancy make a decision after reading

The Role Of Economic Inequality In The United States
What is inequality? It is the difference or variation in size, amount, rank, quality, social position or
the fact that one group is more privileged than the other, or it can be based on the unequal
opportunity of certain groups on the society. Based on the book social problems by John J.
Macionis, he said that there is an unequal distribution of economic resources, which means that one
part of the population has more they suppose to have that the other part does not have enough to
support itself. Since 1970s, economic inequalityhas increased in the United States. In particular, the
rich have gotten a lot richer. Economic inequality affects the society and the youth in several ways.

Richer areas have better schools, smaller classes, and have a high level of education. Teachers
make more money, so the rich areas have better teachers. Economic inequality is one of the causes
of those disparities. Poor students living in poor areas are behind in verbal memory, vocabulary,
math and reading. Some children came in the United States without knowing how to speak English.
Those immigrant students need a tutor when they attend school. Rich kids parents can pay tutor to
help their kids, but poor kids parents cannot. In public schools, students are getting low education,

Sociological Perspective
Coming from AJP, I needed to cross Fifth Avenue to start my walk, and like what I had to do
every day when I had class at that building, I found myself once again waiting for the walk sign
to appear across the street. This Sociological Perspective of seeing society in our everyday lives
showed how the smallest personal choices, even the action of walking, is affected and shaped by
society and how it functions. As I was walking through Fifth Avenue, I noticed that there were
buildings at every corner of this long street. Students, some wearing Carlow gear while others
wore Pitt gear, populated the sidewalks, conversing with other students. As I got farther into Fifth
Avenue, I could see UPMC hospitals and signs with directions of entrances and parking lots.
People populated the end of the sidewalk in this street, waiting at the Bus Stop sign. In the area of
Forbes Avenue, there were a lot of restaurants, and I noticed many students walking to get in and
eat.
The pedestrian traffic was very similar to the automobile traffic on the street. Through the
Sociological Perspective of seeing the general in the particular, I was able to identify the general
patterns of the group of pedestrians walking on the sides, including myself. There is a systematic
way in society that traffic runs, and as I was walking, I, along with the rest of the pedestrians near
me, looked both ways of the street before crossing at the end of the streets at Forbes. At one point
in my walk near in Forbes,

Comparison of Political History and Development of Nursing...
Comparison of: Political History and Development of Nursing Education between China and Poland
Chinese modern nursing started its evolution in the 1888 when the first formal hospital was opened
in the town of Fuzhou, located in the Fujian province. Chinese medicine has been molded by
numerous western initiatives from the missionary in the 19 century. Particularly, nursing schools
and missionary hospitals, this comprised of 32% of the complete nursing population in the country.
The American influence was profound since it was one of the principal in the region doing major
investments. Individual teachers and nursing professional were the key players in the realization of
the early modernization of nursing in the country. Foundations from America set up medical
facilities facilitating the increase in the spread of nursing in the country. Chinese modern nursing
edification saw an early start compared to the other countries. Politically the government of China
faced a period of nursing halt after the abolishment of the practice. When the government that
abolished the practice collapsed in 1977, the practice came back to normal but left a gap of 30
years deficit in practice and development of the nursing profession. Therefore, China s nursing
practice was significantly influenced by the political climate particularly the revolution. Ireland on
the other hand was the last developed country to incorporate nursing into the university. The
Nightingale model of practice influenced

Travels of a T-Shirt Book Report Essay
Question 1: Write a summary of this book
Often, when we think of a t shirt, not much consideration goes past throwing it on and walking
out the door. We discover in The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, author Pietra Rivoli
conveys the story of a t shirt she purchased in Florida for just $5.99. Beginning with core element
of the t shirt, she describes the cotton boom in the United States and why we have reigned supreme
as the leading cotton producer. She even meets with a Texan farmer who warms your heart from the
very beginning of the chapter. Next, the cotton goes on to textile mills and factories, and Rivoli
explains the history of the textile industry. With this lesson, she demonstrates how the textile
industry boom was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her writing style takes into consideration those with very little economic awareness and fluidly
phrases things into layman s terms. She is able to expand on the most complex ideas, such as
quotas and tariffs in the textile industry, and still paint a complete picture in the mind of the reader.
The relevance of this book can be measured by its ability to speak to the everyday individual, who
may or may not know anything about economics, and plant the seed toward global economic
education. It provides a keen social awareness to people who may or may not ordinarily care about
international economics and can have an eye opening effect toward what really happens in the
textile industry.
Rivoli also raises some substantial points about free trade and protectionism. After the facts are
presented, she identifies that most of these alleged free markets aren t actually free at all. She
explains that quotas, political relationships, and labor issues make these markets restricted from
being completely free. She writes a story of the wealth enhancing possibilities of globalization in
some settings but a can t win trap in others, a trap where power imbalances and poorly functioning
politics and markets seem to doom the economic future.
Question 3: Is the author arguing for free trade or protectionism? Explain.
Rivoli is not making an argument for either side of protectionism or free trade. Of course, as an
avid economist, Rivoli advocates free trade, as

Life On Earth Is Ending, Aurora Essay
Life on Earth is ending, Aurora, when yours only just began.
Our morning started like any other: me, cocooned in cotton but so very free because there you
were, curled up beside me. Slipping out of bed, I tiptoed to the kitchen to prepare your breakfast.
Outside, snow spiraled through the late December air. Peering through the frosted window, I
smiled, reveling in the thought of us, living inside of our own personal snow globe. As I
reached for the remote control to turn on the weather channel, my mind danced with visions of
the day ahead. Maybe we d go sledding in the park, or watch the local boys play ice hockey on the
lake. The day was ours. The world was ours.
But EMERGENCY ALERT there was no five day forecast.
I d thought I d have a lifetime with you. Instead, we have one day.
***
You re too young to understand, Aurora, but some things are not meant to have expiration dates.
Milk has an expiration date but the world, my dear, should not. (And especially, not our world. Not
us.)
And so, as my bowl shattered to the kitchen floor this morning, sending Honey Nut Cheerios and
hope scattering across the hardwood, my only thought was of you.
Stepping over the ceramic shards, I traced my way back to the bedroom watched your eyelids
flutter open, my name form on your lips. Bathed in golden morning light, you beamed up at me like
I was God. You are too young to know the difference, sweetheart and in that moment, I found myself
wishing that you were right.

sorrow, or loneliness begin to appear. People can be cruel for no reason because that individual is

Thomas s house. So as Mr. Thomas leaves to go out of town, the gang members destroy the whole
house until there is nothing left. Therefore, The Lottery and the The Destructors portray random
destruction.
The Lottery and The Destructors have different settings. The Lottery takes place on June 27th.
The time of year is summer so the weather is hot, humid and sunny. Flowers blossoming and
grass is green (Jackson). Also, all the village people gather together on June 27th so that the
lottery may take place. Although Jackson wants the readers to seem like The Lottery is a friendly
and cheerful story, the readers begin to read further and further into the story and being to
understand in reality, the lottery is sorrowful. Jackson wanted the keep the readers intrigued, so she
made the setting cheerful and positive until the end. The Destructors takes place on a Sunday
morning. The sun is covered by stormy clouds. The ground is wet and the wind begins to make
swirls of dust under the trees. Mr. Thomas s house is beautiful and 200 years old. As the author
relays detailed information to the readers, the readers begin to feel a sense of uncertainty and
question. The setting affects the theme of the story because random destruction is often dark and
gloomy. Greene created a great scene that lined up with the theme. When Green was explaining the
setting, he was foreshadowing the destruction of Mr. Thomas s house. Although The Lottery and

Essay about The Impact Of Religious Settlers In Religious...
The places where we live today have not always been here. The way we live has not always been
the same. In fact, very few places that existed back in the colonial times exist today. If they still
exist, it is because of the success gained over the years gone by after the settlers came to the New
World. Settlers came to the New World in search of many things. They came in search of gold,
they came for new lives, and they came for religious freedom.
In England, during this time period, people were being judged, separated and persecuted on the
basis of their religious beliefs. There were two groups of people that were unhappy with the
Church. These groups came to be known as the Puritans and the Separatists. ... Show more content

The Puritans are known for founding the Massachusetts Bay Colony. These people of the journey
also set out for their self government to be a commonwealth, which is a community founded on law
and united by an agreement that the law would serve the common good of the people.
Among these people who were busy trying to remake a remarkable Christian life, there were
people who didn t necessarily agree with the common viewpoint. These people became known as
dissenters. Dissenters were often persecuted for their beliefs, and just a few up and went and
actually made a difference. They are still recognized today.
In the colony of Rhode Island, there was one main dissenter who was very well known. He was the
assistant pastor in Salem in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He had two main thoughts that got him
into trouble with his community. One was the fact that he questioned the legality of the colony s
charter, since the Indians had not been paid for the taking of their land. Another point was the fact
that he believed that the civil government of the colony had no right to punish religious dissenters.
He felt that people s personal views of the religion should not be punished because everyone is
entitled to their own opinion.
Soon after he stated his thoughts, Roger Williams was banished from the colony. He went off and
founded Providence, which was the first village in what is

the negative impact drugs can have on your life and to also outline how an individual can refrain

Teenagers and young adults choose to take drugs for many different reasons and these include: To
fit in, to escape from pressures, to relieve boredom, to seem grown up, to rebel, to experiment (drug
free world 2006)
Many teenagers feel as though consuming drugs acts as a solution to their problems. However, the
drugs usually become a major problem affecting their life as the years pass on. Drugs soon become
an addiction and lead people s life astray. The addiction itself can be considered a brain disease
because drugs change the function and structure of the brain (NIH, 2014). The brain is made up
of a variety of parts that all interconnect to take out a specific job. When drugs are consumed they
cause the brain to stop functioning in the way that it usually does. Drugs can affect three
primary areas of the brain and these include: The brain stem, the cerebral cortex and the limbic
system. (Brain and addiction, 2014) For most people the initial decision to consume or inject any
type of drug is voluntary. However, over time, drug use can cause changes to the brain and this
can take away peoples self control and therefore limit their ability to make sound decisions in
certain circumstances. There are many biological and socio cultural factors that do indeed play a
role in drug use, and this essay will attempt to explain these factors with reference to relevant
research studies.

Google Answer to Filling Jobs
Introduction
Google used to look for people with straight A report cards and double 800s on their SATs to
determine if they would be a good fit for their organization but have since moved to more drastic
measures to ensure a good match between the employee and Google s high octane organizational
culture. Google has employed personality testing to help them make decisions about hiring by
making applicants fill out an elaborate online survey that explores their attitudes, behavior,
personality and biographical details going back to high school in an attempt to ensure a good PE fit
with the organization.

that fit better into the organization will have higher job satisfaction and commitment to their

and job stress.
Group Level of Analysis
Google was happy with the current culture and group dynamics and wanted to know how to
ensure new individuals would interact with the groups the same way. To accomplish this Google
did a study of the personality types that correspond to the leadership styles and level of results at
the group level they wanted to mimic. This was done by asking every employee who had been
working at the company for at least five months to fill out a 300 question survey. Afterwards
Google created several surveys they believe will help them find candidates in engineering, sales,
finance, and human resources. Using the personality test and comparing the results from people that
already fit well in the organization will help Google maintain or improve the group dynamics,
reduce intergroup conflict and result in better communication at the group level.

Contents Of The Dead Man s Pocket
The working class can relate to the theme of the short story Contents of the Dead Man s Pocket,
by Jack Finney. More often than not, people strive to get to the top of their profession, but at
what cost? The majority of people spend countless hours of their life working to provide for
themselves and their loved ones. The irony of working all these hours to provide for your loved
ones is that you will not see them nearly as much as desired because of work. In my opinion, the
above passage is important to the story because Tom is now inside lying on the floor as a new
man who knows what is important in life. Tom works for Wholesale Groceries and has been
spending most of his free time off of work doing research on grocery store displays. The only
copy of his research flies out of the window of his tenth story apartment due to a draft. In this
moment, readers discover how obsessed Tom really is with work: He knew he was going out
there in the darkness, after the yellow sheet fifteen feet beyond his reach (page 4). At this point in
time, Tom is willing to risk everything, including his life, to ensure that he can elevate above his
coworkers. This perilous behavior is the complete opposite from the Tom we read about in the
above passage from the end of the story. Tom transitions from chasing a paper out on a ledge ten
stories up, to laughing at the same paper flying back out of the window. Tom undergoes character
growth throughout the story, but it is the most

To be an airline pilot is most of the time described in terms of duties, job requirements, proficiency,
training, employment opportunity, and good salary. These features picture a plain profile that fit
into the specification of just an ordinary career. However, an aviation career comes with many
challenges than expected. When focusing on statistics about being a pilot, it indicates a lifestyle
that many inspire to work despite the many challenges that face this career. The challenges that

In modern aviation, pilot fatigue has become a vital problem that needs urgent intervention. The
full effect of fatigue is frequently unforeseen however, many of its harmful effects have been
known for a long time. When comparing with individuals who usually have enough rest,
individuals who suffer from fatigue act slowly, have difficulties in memory, and are involved in
many mistakes. In addition, the negative impact can or may lead to aviation accidents and errors
(Caldwell, Mallis, Caldwell, Paul, Miller, Neri, 2009).
Some of the negative effects that contribute to airplane accidents are related to fatigue. Associated
mainly with long flights, irregular work schedules performed by pilots may lead to incidences such
as menstrual irregularities, stomach problems, weight gain, cardiovascular problems, and cold flu.
Unfortunately, there are attempts to provide limitation on flight time and scheduling provisions to
pilots. Moreover, accident surveys and aviation studies all indicate that fatigue is an emerging
hazard and a major concern in airline industries around the world. Long flying pilots often attribute
the cause of their fatigue to circadian disturbances and sleep deprivation, which is as a result of time
zone transitions. While short flying pilots attribute their fatigue on workload and sleep

In this study there was no deficit in the amount of data collected by the questions asked by the

that the researchers identified (p.3) form the next part of my critique. The themes which were
found through analysis of the data compare to other researchers who find that gifted children in

1999; Lovecky 1992; Schuler 2003). What strikes me about some of the data is the bias which
comes across from Andrew s reflections. He states, They uprooted me and put me in a

Essay on Inconstancy in Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Inconstancy in Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) explains inconstancy as the recurrent and generally
unexpected or impulsive change from one condition to another. It is the state or quality of being
inconstant and unfaithful by virtue of being undependable or deceitful. Set in Messina, Sicily,
Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothingis a very popular play generally viewed as one of his
happiest comedies and is often performed in theatres. However, the playfulness and cheerfulness of
the play is haunted by a cloud of melancholy which tells readers of the potential dangers and pain
that can result from miscommunication, deceit and treachery. This play has two entwining plots;
one revolves around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some critics have argued that in the end, Benedict and Beatrice are not significantly different from
Claudio and Hero (Bevington 218). The play reveals a fundamental inadequacy of the human nature
in dealing with the social world which has two mutually mistrusting genders. Humans are likely to
harbour outrageous tendencies, even when they think they are being very sensible and their
inadequacies are what cause so much ado about nothing . The important question is whether a
person can survive all that meaningless ado (Auden 115).
Leonato stays in Messina with Hero, his daughter, Beatrice, a humorous and clever niece and,
Antonio, his elderly brother and Beatrice s father. Leonato welcomes some friends, soldiers from
war: Claudio, Benedict, Don Pedro and Don John. Claudio immediately falls in love with Hero
and decides to marry her while Beatrice and Benedict start their war of humorous insults but
eventually fall in love. Don John plans to disrupt everyone s happiness by staging a scene where
Claudio and Don Pedro see a woman they believe to be Hero making love to another man.
Claudio is represented as an inconsistent and disreputable lover who is quick to doubt his bride to
be, Hero. He gets angry and accuses Hero of unfaithfulness on their wedding day and leaves her at
the altar. Hero family device a plan to fake her death and wait until the truth comes out. The truth
about Hero s innocence eventually comes out and Claudio grieves for her

Perception And Scale Are Permanently Bonded
As human beings it sometimes appears that we are subject to our psychology as opposed to
having control over it. Almost every decision we make, every thought that crosses our minds,
every emotion that affects us has been created by an invisible process by our brain, a brain that
doesn t feel the need to explain its reasoning to us. Whether or not God exists, it is clear that we
are beholden to forces we do not, and can not control. This was something I felt more than ever
in our past couple weeks of humanities. In this time I learned that perception and scale are
permanently bonded. It is only by coming to grips with scale up close, and far away that we may
find balance in our perspective. We need to see things from far away to understand them, but it is
by looking at them up close that we make them feel humanand real. Without either of these
perspectives we stunt our potential understanding as learners, as thinkers, and as people who
understand what it means to be alive as humans.
It is sometimes hard to see the point of looking at things up close. Why would we deliberately miss
so much of the picture by focusing on just one small piece of it? I believe that an up close
viewpoint is important to maintain to prevent psychic numbing and to maintain the humanity of
events that we have no direct connection with. When learning about the history of the universe and
of life zooming out too much can prevent you from empathizing with people from history. We have
a tendency as

Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial...
Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early
to mid 90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about
now. Therein lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail
end of 1999 meaning I was technically born in the Gen Z era, but I sometimes see myself relating
to Millennials I see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide
where I most see myself.
Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population.
They are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as
they are usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all
their own. George Beall of the Huffington Post states that Gen Z processes information faster...
Thus their attention spans might be significantly lower than Millennials but that despite being less
focused as compared to Millennials Gen Z can quickly and efficiently shift between work and
play, with multiple distractions going on in the background . I can personally see myself a little in
this, I have a terribly short attention span but I can t really multitask. Beall also states that
Generation Z desires more independent work environments , implying that they lean more towards
entrepreneurial work. I can t relate to this, I thrive off of at least a little structure, I m not good in the

Zipes s View on Fairytales
In this essay, I examine what Zipes means by institutionalised, define what makes a fairy tale and
evaluate how different versions of Little Red Riding Hood reflect the social ideology of the
period. Zipes is not using institutionalised in the traditional, negative sense of being rigid and
never evolving. He theorises that fairy tales have become part of the social psyche. They permeate
into every aspect of the social unconscious to become meme, examples of which are tunes, ideas
and catchphrases (Montgomery, 2009, p. 46). Zipes proposes that this meme is similar to a virus
mutating and evolving with each generation. Each generation s variation reflects their ideas and
concepts regarding universal aspects of human existence like... Show more content on

The loss of virtue was equal to death both socially and spiritually. Reflecting the puritan view
that children were inherently sinful and should spend time praying not playing (Furniss, 2010).
There are symbolic references throughout the story to sin. The red hood symbolising loss of
virginity, menstruation and worn by the immoral. The girl wanders off and enjoys chasing
butterflies hence playing. Her silent acquiesce to the wolf s bet. The wolf used as a metaphor
for a sexually predatory man and the idea of loss of virginity coupled with le petite mort . Along

Grimm s version, a huntsman rescues the consumed girl and her grandmother. They fill the wolf

different wolf and remembers to go straight to grandmothers and together they trick and kill the
wolf. There are still traces of a sexual nature in the story but the emphasis has moved to learning
obedience and that lessons learnt have their rewards. The tale deals with ideas of childhood and
social obligation, namely familial relationships, innocence of the child promoted by the romantic
view of children as spiritual beings closer to God and the need for the instruction of children. There
are strong familial relationships in this version with the presentation of a handmade velvet cap,

Name:
Ibuprofen
Drawing of Molecular Structure:
Ionic or Covalent:
Covalent
Ibuprofen Info:
Ibuprofen (C13H18O2) has the systematic name 2 (4 isobutylphenyl) propanoic acid. This makes
it an organic compound. Its melting point is melting point 74 77В° C. It is a stable white
crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water and very soluble in ethanol. Its formula is also written
(CH3)2CHCH2C6H4CH(CH3) COOH, which is basically the chemical structure of ibuprofen.
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the
production of prostaglandins, substances that the body releases in response to illness and
injury. Prostaglandins cause swelling and pain, or inflammation. They can cause fevers because
they are released to the brain. Ibuprofen s painkilling effects become resonant soon after taking
the drug. Ibuprofen is available as gels, sprays, tablets or mousses, and it is used to relieve a
variety of symptoms which include: inflammation, swelling, pain, toothache, backache, arthritis,
headache, minor injuries, and fever. The usual adult dose for pain is 200 mg to 400 mg by
mouth, every 4 to 6 hours, or 400 to 800 mg IV every 6 hours as needed. The maximum dose in
one day is 3,200 mg. Children s doses are lower than those for adults. The dose will depend on the
weight and age of the child, and the severity of the fever or other symptoms. Even though ibuprofen
helps people with many conditions, it also has some risks involved. Ibuprofen should be used with
caution for people with asthma, kidney problems, liver problems, mild heart failure, hypertension,
high blood pressure, angina, and stroke. This list is just a list of a few of the conditions which may
have a negative reaction to the body. All people should consult a qualified pharmacist or a doctor if
they are unsure. Furthermore, Ibuprofen is known for causing stomach pain, nausea and vomiting,
and other gastrointestinal symptoms. These side effects are caused by the same mechanism as the
beneficial effects. The same prostaglandins that cause pain, fever, and inflammation (which are
healed by ibuprofen) also decrease stomach acid and increase stomach mucus secretion. Both of

SYSTEMS
Introduction
Currently, most of the world s energy is derived from fossil fuels (World Energy Resources 2013
Survey). Fossil fuels are a limited resource and might not be able to meet the future energy
requirements of the world for too long (Shafiee and Topal 2009). Apart from being non renewable,
these are also significant contributors of greenhouse gases to the environment leading to air, water
and land pollution (Marland and Rotty 1984). Due to the nature of these resources there is an
urgent need to conserve these resources. It is also important to explore alternative energy sources for
the future. To this end, multiple solutions have been proposed. One of the most ... Show more

It can be anywhere in between 3 years to 30 years or even more depending on a multitude of factors.
Energy pay back time (EPBT):
The Energy Pay Back Time is defined by EPBT = Einput/Esaved, where Einput is the energy input
during the module life cycle (which includes the energy required for manufacturing, installation,
energy use during operation, and energy needed for decommissioning) and Esaved the annual
energy savings due to electricity generated by the PV module. EPBT depends on a number of
factors: cell technology, type of encapsulation, frame and array support, module size efficiency, PV
system application type (autonomous or grid connected) and, finally, PV system performance as
determined by irradiation and the performance ratio. EPBT is also affected by factors that do not
directly relate to the characteristics of the PV power system itself: conversion efficiency of the
electricity supply system and energy requirements of materials like glass, aluminum etc. (Alsema
2000)
In order to determine the EPBT of a photovoltaic system, it is very important to determine the total
energy that is required to manufacture, install, transport and dispose the system as well as energy
required for any other purpose during the life cycle of the system.
A typical PV system consists of different components. The components of a PV system can be
classified into two categories:
1.The Panel: This consists of the panel

Nurse Anesthetist Research Paper
Being a nurse anesthetist involves many skills and a lot of knowledge. A nurse anesthetist or
CRNA is a dangerous job because someone s life is in the CRNA s hands and if they mess up the

master s degree which would be 4+ years of schooling. To be a nurse anesthetistone must convey
communication and interpersonal skills because the job involves talking with their patients before

science and technical skills to differentiate the kinds of medicines. Also, a nurse anesthetist needs
strong math skills to figure out how the dosage of medicine for each patient ( Nurse Anesthetists

The Transformation Of Enkidu And Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh starts out as an immature, cruel and emotionally stunted character. He is described as
young and borne along by emotion by the elders of the city of Uruk before embarking on a
foolhardy and dangerous mission (II 289). Enkidu was created by the gods to be the equal of
Gilgamesh, one mighty in strength (MB Ni, pg. 4). Both Enkiduand Gilgamesh grow as characters;
doors represent transitions and mark key points where both characters mature. At these points they
are put on the path towards discovering what they should do with their lives and how they should
approach the concept of death. These transitions come in various forms, such as Enkidu stopping
Gilgamesh s ruthlessness by physically blocking him, Enkidu coming to terms with his certain
death by disavowing a cedar door, or Gilgamesh being questioned at the gates of Mashu by the
scorpion people guardians. However, in all cases, either one or both of the protagonists must reflect
on their current state of moral development.
One of the most significant ways that Gilgamesh matures is by becoming a good king. This
process begins right before the two heroes fight in Tablet II, demonstrated through the following
narrative description: Enkidu with his foot blocked the door of the wedding house, not allowing
Gilgamesh to enter (II 111 112). By physically preventing Gilgamesh from entering the house and
taking advantage of a bride, Enkidu shows that he is equal in strength to the king, and fulfills his

How Contextualism Can Be Used to Disregard Skepticism
Contextualism today, is defined as the truth of a particular knowledge ascription dependent on the
context in which that truth is uttered. Over the past century and decades there have been many
great debates between philosopher s over contextualism and how it can be used to disregard
Skepticism. I agree with Cohen s defense of Contextualism in regard s to both how he answers
Skepticismand Conee s objections. Cohen starts off his defense of Contextualism by first
explaining the skeptical paradox. The skeptical paradox here is the paradox that Cohen sees
between Skepticism and Contextualism Cohen argues that he does see conflict in the paradox, as
all the terms can be true dependent on the context in which it is used. The skeptical... Show more

This brings Cohen to the question the fact that in our minds already determining that such strict
skeptical standards don t exist is incorrect as in most cases they can. In essence they are intuitive
judgments, and we can control those judgments. Consequently, this leads Cohen to state that we as
individuals do not know whether our intuitive skeptical judgments are made on correct/false
inquiries about skeptical claims. Cohen describes that even if there is such a correct theory that
our skeptical judgments are correct the question still to be asked/answered is why we have those
intuitions and where such intuitions stem from. It is only then according to Cohen that we may
find a rational answer as a resolution to that paradox. This argument put forth by Cohen takes into
account the varied applications that we don t see in everyday common sense claims. The fact that
Cohen believes that stricter standards can still be applied shows to us that it doesn t depend on the
claim and that almost every claim can be with held to that higher standard of knowledge. To
already presume something to a have lower knowledge standard is something that could be
changed when brought into conversation with individuals who question matter inherently before it
can be passed down as knowledge. In simpler words it doesn t matter what the claim is a stricter
skeptical standard can always be applied. Another objection

Cartridge And Firearms Identification Paper
This week s reading is on the Cartridge and Firearms Identification. The measurement system
used in cartridges and firearms is not universal or has a systematic reasoning on how a caliber or
gage is determined, such as Europe and the United States has their own systems. But how ever
there is NATO standard for the military. First we discussed calibers and how they are determined.
The imperial system, by using fractions of an inch and designated as caliber, uses the interior bore
diameter of the firearm, this originated with smooth smooth bore arms. There are several ways to
measure for the caliber; by measuring the interior diameter of the bore, from land to land, grove to

Self contained metallic cartridges were first identified using a hyphenated system. Again there
is no set way to identify cartridges and was voluntary and not every manufacture chose to follow
it. Generally cartridges were hyphenated in two or three sets, such as .50=70, .45 70, and .30
40. The first number designated the projectile caliber, then the propellant charge in grains of
powder. If there was a third number indicated it represented projectile weight in grams, such as
.45 70 350. After the turn of the century the use of the hyphenated system changed and

My theory posits that a combination of individual and systemic factors produces personal problems. Therefore, to effectively address the multiple sources of a problem, my theory of helping involves both behavioral and cognitive techniques. Although every theoryhas limitations, helping professionals nevertheless develop their preferred approach over time. Since theory is foundation to clinical social work, it is imperative for me to consider and further develop my knowledge of theory. Individuals experience suffering for various reasons. The importance of a therapeutic relationship became evident during my own counselling experience. I did not sense this relationship with my counsellor, and therefore, our sessions were ineffective. Additionally, I find logic in cognitive and behavioral approaches. It is essential to change behaviorally; however, if one does not also address underlying cognitive distortions, change is incomplete. All around the world there is illegal practices that involves a modern form of slavery, this form of slavery can not be easily abolished, it often involves the practice of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the illegal practice of transporting a person from one place to another, typically for a form of forced labor, it goes against the words in the International Human Bill of Rights. There is human trafficking all around the world, but the rate is higher in impoverished places such as Bangladesh, Brazil and Haiti. Human trafficking occurs because of unstable political climates, families economically disadvantaged, and being stuck in debt that is ever growing which one can not pay with money. Unstable political climates are catalyst for human trafficking. The conditions of the political system are tied to the government and the security in which the country has. • 5. Television s Impact On Television One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical familyin the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison). Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had ... Guggenheim successfully persuades his audience, first by using the ethos appeal. He does this by opening his film by explaining that as parent, he also worries and cares for the success of his own children and is very aware of the degradation of the public education. He is also being fair minded as he opens up about a previous film he created where he was actually supporting the idea that public schools worked. Although he held those beliefs up so highly once, he s now changed opinion. Guggenheim sincerely expressing why this has happened saying, Ten years later, it was time to choose a school for my own children...and then reality set in. My feelings about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heterozygotes, which have the wild type phenotype, have normal sight which gives them the advantage of finding a mate and have a better success with attracting a mate with their courtship song (Kyriacou et al, 1978). The male heterozygous Drosophila had a better advantage at mating than the homozygotes, which were the ebony, and therefore we predict there will be more wild type by the end of the experiment. METHODS: In this experiment, the instructor provided us with 30 ebony individuals and 20 wild type individuals. In order to get an exact amount of each type, we anesthetized the flies and counted them off by gently using a fine point paint brush. Then all 50 Drosophila were put into a population cage which had a lid that had six holes for the centrifuge tubes. Two food tubes and four clean, empty tubes were added on the first day. • 15. Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure. In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased. Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fusion will only release helium gas, which will not have any effects on the atmosphere, as helium is very abundant on the atmosphere, therefore it will not contribute to global warming. With regards to disadvantages, the overall cost of constructing a facility which will harness the energy of nuclear fusion is extremely high. ITER s project costs 10 billion Euros. With nuclear fission, the advantages are that, it is inexpensive to create and harness the energy. Fission also does not create greenhouse gas. The disadvantages are that, wastes are created from fission which can directly harm life and there is a risk of a nuclear meltdown which will release electromagnetic radiation to its surroundings. With chemical changes such as fossil fuel burnings, the advantages are that a lot of energy is released during the combustion reaction and extremely cheap. Sociological Perspective Coming from AJP, I needed to cross Fifth Avenue to start my walk, and like what I had to do every day when I had class at that building, I found myself once again waiting for the walk sign to appear across the street. This Sociological Perspective of seeing society in our everyday lives showed how the smallest personal choices, even the action of walking, is affected and shaped by society and how it functions. As I was walking through Fifth Avenue, I noticed that there were buildings at every corner of this long street. Students, some wearing Carlow gear while others wore Pitt gear, populated the sidewalks, conversing with other students. As I got farther into Fifth Avenue, I could see UPMC hospitals and signs with directions of entrances and parking lots. People populated the end of the sidewalk in this street, waiting at the Bus Stop sign. In the area of Forbes Avenue, there were a lot of restaurants, and I noticed many students walking to get in and eat. The pedestrian traffic was very similar to the automobile traffic on the street. Through the Sociological Perspective of seeing the general in the particular, I was able to identify the general patterns of the group of pedestrians walking on the sides, including myself. • 37. Contents Of The Dead Man s Pocket The working class can relate to the theme of the short story Contents of the Dead Man s Pocket, by Jack Finney. More often than not, people strive to get to the top of their profession, but at what cost? The majority of people spend countless hours of their life working to provide for themselves and their loved ones. The irony of working all these hours to provide for your loved ones is that you will not see them nearly as much as desired because of work. In my opinion, the above passage is important to the story because Tom is now inside lying on the floor as a new man who knows what is important in life. Tom works for Wholesale Groceries and has been spending most of his free time off of work doing research on grocery store displays. The only copy of his research flies out of the window of his tenth story apartment due to a draft. In this moment, readers discover how obsessed Tom really is with work: He knew he was going out there in the darkness, after the yellow sheet fifteen feet beyond his reach (page 4). At this point in time, Tom is willing to risk everything, including his life, to ensure that he can elevate above his coworkers. This perilous behavior is the complete opposite from the Tom we read about in the above passage from the end of the story. Tom transitions from chasing a paper out on a ledge ten stories up, to laughing at the same paper flying back out of the window. Tom undergoes character growth throughout the story, but it is the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When focusing on statistics about being a pilot, it indicates a lifestyle that many inspire to work despite the many challenges that face this career. The full effect of fatigue is frequently unforeseen however, many of its harmful effects have been known for a long time. When comparing with individuals who usually have enough rest, individuals who suffer from fatigue act slowly, have difficulties in memory, and are involved in many mistakes. In addition, the negative impact can or may lead to aviation accidents and errors (Caldwell, Mallis, Caldwell, Paul, Miller, Neri, 2009). Some of the negative effects that contribute to airplane accidents are related to fatigue. Associated mainly with long flights, irregular work schedules performed by pilots may lead to incidences such as menstrual irregularities, stomach problems, weight gain, cardiovascular problems, and cold flu. Unfortunately, there are attempts to provide limitation on flight time and scheduling provisions to pilots. Moreover, accident surveys and aviation studies all indicate that fatigue is an emerging hazard and a major concern in airline industries around the world. Long flying pilots often attribute the cause of their fatigue to circadian disturbances and sleep deprivation, which is as a result of time zone transitions. What strikes me about some of the data is the bias which comes across from Andrew s reflections. The researchers analyse this as being the participant s anger and frustration towards his labelled disabilities. • 45. Perception And Scale Are Permanently Bonded As human beings it sometimes appears that we are subject to our psychology as opposed to having control over it. Almost every decision we make, every thought that crosses our minds, every emotion that affects us has been created by an invisible process by our brain, a brain that doesn t feel the need to explain its reasoning to us. Whether or not God exists, it is clear that we are beholden to forces we do not, and can not control. This was something I felt more than ever in our past couple weeks of humanities. In this time I learned that perception and scale are permanently bonded. It is only by coming to grips with scale up close, and far away that we may find balance in our perspective. We need to see things from far away to understand them, but it is by looking at them up close that we make them feel humanand real. Without either of these perspectives we stunt our potential understanding as learners, as thinkers, and as people who understand what it means to be alive as humans. It is sometimes hard to see the point of looking at things up close. Why would we deliberately miss so much of the picture by focusing on just one small piece of it? I believe that an up close viewpoint is important to maintain to prevent psychic numbing and to maintain the humanity of events that we have no direct connection with. When learning about the history of the universe and of life zooming out too much can prevent you from empathizing with people from history. We have a tendency as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Ibuprofen Household Chemistry Project Household Chemistry Project Basic Details: Name: Ibuprofen Drawing of Molecular Structure: Ionic or Covalent: Covalent Ibuprofen Info: Ibuprofen (C13H18O2) has the systematic name 2 (4 isobutylphenyl) propanoic acid. This makes it an organic compound. Its melting point is melting point 74 77В° C. It is a stable white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water and very soluble in ethanol. Its formula is also written (CH3)2CHCH2C6H4CH(CH3) COOH, which is basically the chemical structure of ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, substances that the body releases in response to illness and injury. Prostaglandins cause swelling and pain, or inflammation. They can cause fevers because they are released to the brain. Ibuprofen s painkilling effects become resonant soon after taking the drug. Ibuprofen is available as gels, sprays, tablets or mousses, and it is used to relieve a variety of symptoms which include: inflammation, swelling, pain, toothache, backache, arthritis, headache, minor injuries, and fever. The usual adult dose for pain is 200 mg to 400 mg by mouth, every 4 to 6 hours, or 400 to 800 mg IV every 6 hours as needed. The maximum dose in one day is 3,200 mg. Children s doses are lower than those for adults. The dose will depend on the weight and age of the child, and the severity of the fever or other symptoms. Even though ibuprofen helps people with many conditions, it also has some risks involved. Ibuprofen should be used with caution for people with asthma, kidney problems, liver problems, mild heart failure, hypertension, high blood pressure, angina, and stroke. This list is just a list of a few of the conditions which may have a negative reaction to the body. All people should consult a qualified pharmacist or a doctor if they are unsure. Furthermore, Ibuprofen is known for causing stomach pain, nausea and vomiting, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. These side effects are caused by the same mechanism as the beneficial effects. The same prostaglandins that cause pain, fever, and inflammation (which are healed by ibuprofen) also decrease stomach acid and increase stomach mucus secretion. Both of ... Enkidu was created by the gods to be the equal of Gilgamesh, one mighty in strength (MB Ni, pg. 4). Both Enkiduand Gilgamesh grow as characters; doors represent transitions and mark key points where both characters mature. At these points they are put on the path towards discovering what they should do with their lives and how they should approach the concept of death. However, in all cases, either one or both of the protagonists must reflect on their current state of moral development. One of the most significant ways that Gilgamesh matures is by becoming a good king. This process begins right before the two heroes fight in Tablet II, demonstrated through the following narrative description: Enkidu with his foot blocked the door of the wedding house, not allowing Gilgamesh to enter (II 111 112). Cohen starts off his defense of Contextualism by first explaining the skeptical paradox. Cohen describes that even if there is such a correct theory that our skeptical judgments are correct the question still to be asked/answered is why we have those intuitions and where such intuitions stem from. It is only then according to Cohen that we may find a rational answer as a resolution to that paradox. This argument put forth by Cohen takes into account the varied applications that we don t see in everyday common sense claims. The fact that Cohen believes that stricter standards can still be applied shows to us that it doesn t depend on the claim and that almost every claim can be with held to that higher standard of knowledge.
