Key message:
This is a workshop. We believe that ARCs are brilliant. We could present that evidence and lit review and student feedback but no – we are going to DO THE THING rather than TELL YOU about the thing, and hope you agree.
This is a pretty authentic approach – we often have limited time in timetables to run an ARC and we have to get quite creative with how we approach a paper.
Now, you’ve all read the article – great – if not, we have 10 minutes of quiet reading for you to get the gist.
Feedback question at the end – PADLET! How does an ARC develop information literacy? Bear this question in mind throughout? Have it as a running footer?
Have post-session slides they can refer to on wider ARC stuff
Potential Discussion Facilitator questions:
Given the power of social media (visual, instant, personal, parasocial relationships, targeted), will traditional media/information literacy approaches actually work?
How does your personal experience of social media and body image compare?
How does gender impact social media literacy?
Were you aware of social media literacy before?
Was there anything that surprised you in the article?
Anything you'd like to challenge?
What is your one thing to take away from your role perspective?
