Resistance Of Change Within The Workplace
Introduction Resistance to Change Change is part of every organization and is required in order to
compete with today s competitive business environment. Acceptance, implementation of a change can
be challenging and painful process. Change within an organization can cause tense situation which can
be disturbing to the employees. Under such circumstances, employees have low morale, and
demonstrate resistance to change. Change can fail, not because it s worth failure but because how well
that change is accepted by the people who are most affected by it. Resistance is anything that slows
and stops the movement from happening. In business terminology, a resistance can be defined as a
dysfunctional behavior triggered by an emotional or belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sources and Symptoms Resistance to change can cost a significant loss to the business such as project
failure, failure of new initiatives, and customer loss. Resistance is simply a reactive behavior.
Managing employee s resistance to change involves determining both its sources and symptoms. The
sources of resistance are employees perceptions of change which are the beliefs and emotions that
color their judgment. Sources are the root from which the symptoms of resistance grow. The sources
are the thinking and feeling elements of the resistance. The sources of resistance are the emotional and
intellectual responses to the change. The symptoms of resistance are employees reactions to the
change. Symptoms involve dysfunctional behaviors that result when employees act to the sources of
resistance. The symptoms are the behaviors that result from the employees thoughts and feelings about
the change. Active and Passive Reaction to change in an organization is directly linked to employees
perception about the personal impact. The symptoms of reaction can be found at every level of the
organization. Employees resistance to change can be categorized under two categories, active and
passive. The active resistance involves outwardly challenging the change; push back by openly
disagreeing and actively lobbying against the change effort.

Chief Wahoo Logo Analysis
In 2014, Cleveland Indians had to drop their Chief Wahoo logo and reduce the visibility of the logo
even though the Indians had the fundamental right of the First Amendment to capitalize on the name.
The Indians decided to switch to a block C on their shirts, but a small logo, depicting a red faced
cartoon with a feather headband still appeared on some team caps and jerseys. On October 17th 2016
Douglas Cardinal, an indigenous rights activist, filed a case to bar the Cleveland Indians from using
their name and especially their Chief Wahoo logo during a play off game which was going be held in
Toronto, Canada. However, Cardinal s lawyers also wanted to bar the use of the name and logo by
both the Major League Baseball and by Rogers Communications,

The Rational And Self Interested Agent Used As A Model Of...
Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human
behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud
optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any
regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been
modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit
Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate
others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of
anonymous, one shot cooperation games, Yamagishi et al. (2014) ... Show more content on

This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic
outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to arrive at
an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility
maximization. I address these points in brief below.
Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators that
they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic literature
was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g. Kahneman
Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations under risk,
and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus the assumptions
underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows economists to
make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This notion, that
economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that Homo economicus
can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated representations of real life
decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the models are at best useful
approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application rather than the models
themselves.

Summary of Built to Last Frist Five Chapters
The Best of the Best
The book basically talks about visionary companies deviating from most books which are written on
charismatic leadership and visionary products. Visionary companies are institutions in industry having
a separate standing in terms of admiration and impact on world around them. All visionary products as
well as visionary charismatic leaders have to die, it is actually company that last long through multiple
products and leaders. In six year of research Jim Collins and Jerry I. Porras have identified historical
development of visionary companies. Along with they have selected control set of comparison

Descriptive Essay On A Crazy Canoe Capper
Next year I am hoping for you to join me in my insane, adrenaline pumping ride called the crazy
canoe capper. This ride is based off a wicked canoe ride. You will be flung around the adventure of a
lifetime near rocks, sharks, hills, and water. The ride consists of a roller coaster, water ride, and a
creepy place to be. Plus, you should be ready to go fast and slow, up and down, and side to side. When
you are entering the building you will see a canoe in the water. Since it is called the crazing canoe
capper the cart is a canoe but on a track that is under water. This cart consists of bright neon colors on
the top with swirls and curvy lines. Only two seats will be placed in the cart, but on the side will be all

As you are floating past the flags you have a lot of potential energy. Next, you are being propelled up
the hill by a force with a constant speed. As you are going up there is mist lying against your face.
When you do get up the hill the water track will start winding down the pole as you start to gain
momentum. The speed of your canoe going down the pole determines the mass of how much each of
the rider s weight so be careful about who you sit with. Centripetal acceleration along with centripetal
force are two of the many things you will be feeling. However, right before you stop winding and go
straight you will notice there is no more water. You then go down the hill and start to go into free fall.
A simple loop will be waiting for you at the bottom after you are done free falling. In the middle of the
loop, you will feel air resistance and also gravity pulling you down. After the loop, you will go up
another hill but you will have some potential energy. Additionally, the coaster will turn into a water
coaster as soon as you start going down. When you do go down the hill you will start to free fall once
more, but soon enough friction will

How Did The Civil Rights Movement Change In The 50 s
The 1950 s and 1960 s was a time for a much need changes in the United States. Many people were
ready for equal treatment without judgement of race or gender. During the 50 s this was considered a
rejuvenation of the civil rights movement. The United States had problems with hate crimes, racial
profiling and voting rights for African Americans. Many African Americans endured harsh treatment
and were discriminated again in many situations. With these problems the Civil rights movement was
created to end racial discrimination and to create racial equality. Although this movement started in
the early 19th century and it peaked between the 50 s and 60 s. This movement was to assure that

Assess Sociological Explanations of the Role of the Mass...
Assess sociological explanations of the role of the mass media in creating moral panics about crime
and deviance: A moral panic is the process of arousing social concern over an issue, this is often an
exaggerated over reaction by society to a perceived problem, which is usually driven or inspired by
the media. In this situation the reaction ends up amplifying the problem out of proportion to its real
seriousness. This creates anxiety amongst the general population, and this therefore puts pressure on
the agents of social control to deal with the problem, who then act accordingly to the group
responsible for the panic. There is a strong relationship between mass media and crime. On average,
around 30% of newspaper content is dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This creates public anxiety and puts a great deal of pressure on the authorities to stamp down on the
problem group and its rebellious activities. New laws, increased policing and severe punishments are
often a result of the media s coverage of the issue. Although, a self fulfilling prophecy may develop as
the group resists the attempts that are put in place to control it, this leads to an increase in arrests and
more reporting. A deviancy amplification spiral therefore results, meaning that deviance could
increase as a result of the moral panic. An early moral panic involves Mods VS Rockers in 1964.
Events that were actually just a few scuffles between youths and vandalism were report in an
exaggerated way. The media portrayed this event as a Day of Terror and words such as Riots and
battle were used. Cohen suggests over reporting of this far outweighed the importance of the actual
event. He argues that the media tapped into a social consensus, that all the public shared concerns
about the general decline in morality of the young and the emergence of a strong youth culture.
Consequently the two groups were perceived in a stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi
(1994) moral panics arise when society fails to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For
example, the first moral panics about youth in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a
distinctive consumer group with values, norms of behaviour and

School Searches of Students Lockers Essay
According to the National Education Association, at least 100,000 students bring guns to school,
160,000 students skip classes because they fear physical harm, 40 students are killed or hurt by
firearms, nearly 6,250 teachers are threatened with bodily injury, and 260 teachers are physically
assaulted. These facts are not based on once year, but as every single school day. Could one even
imagine what the numbers might look like on scale for a month of school, let alone a whole year? So
would starting with searching lockers really be a step to far to try and lower the numbers? Some may

Where as others may believe that this will make the school system more of a bureaucracy. Further
more those would also argue that most of the time lockers are hardly involved in the keeping of
contrabands. If students have contraband items they are more likely to keep it on them and therefore
randomly searching lockers it not as important. The time and energy which would be spent searching
lockers could be used in more efficient way. If schools didn t have to ability to perform random
searches, those who bring banded objects to school will know that they could just hide it in their
lockers without having to worry. Although when random searches are be conducted it will make
students think twice about bring such things to school. When students are given a locker, most schools
will have the students sign a policy, which will include something notifying that random searches may
be conducted. Schools are not conducting the searches to just go through student belongings but to
show they are doing them, which they are hoping will deter the students from bring contrabands to
school. For the students who still bring things to school, and get caught make an example for others.
That if you bring things that don t belong, eventually you will be caught. Though by doing the
searches, schools also hope eventually students will give up trying and just stop bringing things, which
will also save everybody

Early Mentors (from Dr.Chopra s autobiography):
My most important mentors were my parents. My father was a very prominent physician and
cardiologist. Once a week he would see patients free of charge for charity. And patients would come
from all over the country, actually, to see him, on trains and buses. My mother would cook food for
them and pay their bus fare and train fare. And my little brother and I would escort the patients in to
see my father, who would not only write the prescriptions, but pay for the medicines for them as well.
And at the end of the day, my parents would sit with me and explain what had happened during the
day. And the moral of the lesson always was that if you want to be happy, then you have to make
somebody else happy.
I grew up with this notion that you must always have somebody in your life that you can trust, that
you can confide in, that you can seek advice from, and that you can learn skills from. And the best
skills come not in school, they come from the people that you re close to, that care about you, that you
care about.
At one point in time, I have three, or four, or five people that I am acting as a mentor for. And I listen
to them mostly. I listen to what s going on in their life, what s going on with their friendships, in their
relationships. To be a mentor you need to understand what s going on in a young person s

cultural exposition told primarily from the vantage point of Richard Rubio, the coming of age son of
immigrant Mexican parents who eventually settle in Santa Clara, California, after many seasons of

who was born to migrant laborers in Los Angeles in 1924 and was himself a pocho a child of the

That is the wonder of this country of yours, my son. All the people who are pushed around in the rest

turn around and do the same thing to other people. . .It is not in retribution because they remember
they were once mistreated, my son; it is because they forget. (p 99, 100) Another response to this clash
of cultures is the emergence of the zootsuiters, a lost race (p149) generation filled with anger and
frustration over their uncertain place in society. But Richard is fascinated by their strangeness and
attended their dances and fiestas as part of his journey of self discovery. They had a burning contempt
for people of different ancestry, whom they called Americans, and a marked hauteur toward Mexico
and toward their parents for their old country ways. The former feeling came from a sense of
inferiority that is a prominent characteristic in any Mexican reared in southern California; and the
latter was an inexplicable compensation for that feeling. They needed to feel superior to something,
which is a natural thing. The result was that they attempted to segregate themselves from both their
cultures, and became truly a lost race. (p 149) In addition to exploring these expansive ideas on class,

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
The study aims to determine the failure rates and mean time to repair statistics in relation to the
medical equipment in order to make correlations between the probabilities of harm to patients in a
sudden failure of the equipment. To determine whether there is another or alternative way of
equipment maintenance management strategies from the relevant industry experience and to check if
they have the potential to improve the availability of hospital equipment in critical conditions and to
reduce the harm to patients by using the equipment s in proper conditions by not playing with their

The research was conducted by conducting a survey. The survey was designed in such a way that
every hospital had to answer the questions in the survey. Every hospital had been given six to eight
copies of the questionnaire depending on the involvement of the hospital departments and the type of
equipment s available for the survey and the maintenance strategies followed.
After completing the questionnaires, approval was required from the hospital head who is responsible
for every activity taking place in his hospital. The main study of this experiment is to check the non
availability of the equipment or failure, which would risk the patient s life in danger. The rules and
regulations or criteria for conducting the research on the criticality of the equipment is the risk of
failure or breakdown of the equipment when it is used on a patient, the average time used for a patient,
average number of patients used or serviced by the equipment, operational life of the equipment and
the availability of alternative equipment in case of failure or malfunction at critical times. There are
around 6782 devices were examined during the process. We have taken only 5 equipment s for the
study in this paper.
In the pilot project we have considered only 5 hospitals and five types of critical hospital equipment
were examined and that had a non availability of high risk level. The equipment s are kidney dialysis,
cardiac catheterization

Michael Pollan Agriculture
With concerns of climate change on the rise, a growing population, and a fear of being unable to
maintain water demands many of our daily practices are coming into question. Agriculture is not
immune to the criticisms, particularly with regard to fossil fuels. In the mid 1900s farming operations
started to exploit fertilizers and land to increase the yield of inexpensive grains. Such practices require
fossil fuels in immense quantities through fertilizers, pesticides, and transportation. However,
passionate debates often occur over the importance and where to go from here. Michael Pollan,
Katherine Mangu Ward, and the National Chicken Council vary widely in their opinions but it is likely
that no one direction is feasible.

agriculture is suited only for the luxury classes. It is improbable to expect the masses to spend
exurbanite amounts of money on organic local produce. This is an understandable concern. The lack
of labor required to supply the country with enough foodstuffs and the potential loss of choices
concern the NCC. The NCC agrees that the system is not perfect but nor is a local supply chain which
would be unable to provide consumers nonnative fruits and vegetables. With regard to the rearing of

Theology of Atonement and Salvation
The view and understanding of atonement is one of the widest in Christian theology. Unlike the
dogmas that define the theology of trinity and incarnation and bring unity to Christian understanding,
the theology of atonement has many different views that are widely held. The theology of atonement
is one of the most important for Christians to understand, as it shapes our images of God, our
understanding of salvation and how we are saved.
In this essay, I will be looking at different theories of atonement and how they make a difference to
our theology of salvation. I will argue that different understandings and theories of atonement affect
our theology of salvation by highlighting different aspects of salvation and answering the ... Show

The subjective theories emphasise the effect of the cross and atonement on the believers and their
response. This means that an emphasis on Christ s death on the cross and it being an example
for/influence on humanity is classed as subjective theories. Objective theories put stress on what the
atonement achieved at the event of the cross, outside individuals. This means that any view that sees
Jesus crucifixion as payment by God for our sins is classed as an objective theory.
The first theory I will be looking at is the Ransom theory. The ransom theory is one of the earliest
theories of atonement that originated with Origen of Alexandria. This view orientated from Mark
10:24 and Matthew 20:28, where it states that the Son of Man came to give his life as a ransom for
many. This word ransom was a familiar one for the early Church as it bring up Old Testament imagery
as it was a word use of God s rescue of Israel from Egypt. This theory states that Christ s death on the
cross was a necessary act as a payment to Satan for our release. Due to Adam s sin, we were captured
legally by Satan through the bonds of original sin. Therefore, in order to secure our freedom justly, a
price needed to be paid to Satan. Thus Jesus died on the cross to be that payment. Gregory of Nyssa
explains this theory in terms of God fishing for humanity using Jesus humanity as bait.
This view creates a dualism where it places Satan on the same field as God as He is bargaining with
the Devil. It

The Importance Of Family Bonds And Support
The Importance of Family Bonds and Support Every day in America individuals are sentenced either
at a state, local, or federal level. The U.S. Department of Justice stated in 2014 an estimated 6,851,000
persons were under the supervision of U.S. correctional system (Kaeble, Glae and Minton). With this
staggering number, America has become the country that incarcerates more of their people than any
other country in the world. Due to these extreme circumstances, the correctional system affects
children by at staggering rates in our country. Although not every prisoner has children, one can
assume that half of the nation s prisoners have at least one child. This simple deduction would leave
3,425,000 with an incarcerated parent. During childhood, the impact a parent has on a child s
emotional and mental shapes their daily lives. When a child faces life with an incarcerated parent, they
face separation for a period of months to years. Given the amount of children affected by the
correctional system in our country, maintaining parental bonds should be a priority. According to an
article published by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, when a child faces separation from their parents,
they do so in silence (Czebiniak). With fear of rejection from peers and their community, these
children bravely live their lives with broken hearts silently. They face a multitude of fears about their
current situation and their futures. Often children with incarcerated parents hear they will become

Three Cups Of Tea By Greg Mortenson Essay
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real life Indiana Jones and his remarkable humanitarian campaign

foreign man, an infidel, have that kind of intimate contact with your wife took an incredible leap of
faith (Mortenson, 179). He once again mentions the underdevelopment and male dominance by asking
Rhokia s husband if it was okay to remove her placenta, instead of directly asking her. Mortenson
essentializes the women of Pakistan and portrays them as if they are inferior to men according to

Detecting Facial Cues and Body Language
Expressions are very valuable, as they can prompt us regarding opportunities and threats in individuals
and scenarios that we encounter. Happiness indicates an approachable person while anger signifies
someone to stay away from. These two decisions are the most basic and simplest behavioral decisions.
But sometimes, this decision does go wrong, since humans are after all humans. And along with the
mistake, some circumstances are riskier than others. Such as going up to a vicious person might be an
inherently costly mistake than avoiding a person who is actually safe to approach ( Haselton Buss,
2000).
A highly adapted system of perception might be more attuned to locating cues that would signify
danger, such as the facial intensity in locating hints of anger, in individuals who seem to possess the
capability in dealing out more harm as distinguished by their built, carrying armaments and other
details. Some might not even present any immediate risk, but overlooking an identifying cue that
could indicate the stranger being harmful is a costly mistake due to bodily harm being a possibility
than when seeing such cues where there are none.
Approach, on the other hand, is a tricky matter. And as such, people afford opportunities that are
positive. Failing in getting into contact with a person who presents a favorable opportunity, whether it
is related to providing social support or willing to share resources, may be costly as well but not
overly damaging. And as such, a tuned

that took place in the holocaust. The topics they cover include recent news in the Jewish world and
more historical events like the Holocaust. On the topic of the Nazi Plunder, the JVL provides an in

This particular paper, covering the issues of justice and ownership in returning artwork from the
Holocaust, makes a clear statement when it states As noted during parliamentary debates on the UK
Holocaust (Return of Cultural Objects) Act 2009, restitution affords some justice,4 legally or
financially drawing one line under the Nazi era.5 Since fourth century BC Athens, restitution has been
key to the legitimacy of successor societies. They undertake responsibility for past wrongs,6
(re)assume a place in the international community,7 and deftly side step collective guilt (O Donnell).
The article combines a historical and legal view in explaining why certain measures must be taken to
provide a consistent justice to the victims of the Holocaust by returning the looted art. The article also
takes time to explain why the recovery of Holocaust art became such a significant issue years after
World War II, citing causes like the fiftieth anniversary of the Holocaust and improved methods of
research and recovery (O Donnell). O Donnell provides a clear view of why art should be returned to
their original owners, the main theme being that art acts as a symbol for reconciliation and justice for
victims of the massive genocide of the Holocaust. This gives the recovery of Holocaust art a
symbolism and significance that associates with the topics of

New Ways Of Survive As An Independent Recording Artist
Beyond 2014: New Ways to Survive as an Independent Recording Artist
INTRODUCTION
Forget everything you think you know about what it takes to be a successful independent recording
artist!
On some level, as a struggling independent recording artist or musician, you might think that any one
of the following habits will bring you success:
Having a mesmerizing image that matches your music
Breaking a sweat
Going broke to succeed
Hanging on until a record company scopes you out...
...How far has all this gotten you up until now?
With the tech revolution going on, the music industry is reinventing itself in terms of how to become
successful. At the same time there are thousands of struggling independent recording artists all

Artists can now bypass record labels. With all the free or almost free ways to download music, the
labels themselves are struggling to survive; whereas before, they were the supreme brokers between
artists and their consumers.
When tech savvy artists look at the music industry today, they see opportunity.
As an independent recording artist, you have a lot going for you. All that is left to do is to step up and
act like an Artist To be creative, improvisational, and take risks. Musicians have a lot of what it takes
to be adaptive, agile, and innovative.
Thanks to Technology, The undiscovered artist can now better than ever be the master of his/her own
destiny instead of hanging on to be discovered by the masses or record labels.
LEVERAGING THE INTERNET TO GAIN EXPOSURE
The Internet has become an immensely influential stage that artists didn t have ten years ago. Nothing
has changed in terms of creating provocative and inspiring music that can move people. The physical
avenue has just largely surrendered to digital distribution the crowds at live shows have drastically
shrunk, studio technology has become a great deal better and more affordable, and promotional tools
have become near infinite in number especially online.

Environmental Policies Of The United States
Name: Hoan Vo Period: 3 Since the formation of the U.S.A in the 1776, environmental policies have
changed from anthropocentric to more biocentric and heading to ecocentric in the future. In the past,
American were utilitarian and focused on expanding to the west and they did not realize the
importance of ecological values. They misunderstood the values of aesthetic and thought that human
was the center in the environment relationship. Americans had an anthropocentric worldview and

Essay on The Holy Trinity, by Masaccio
Masaccio s famous religious painting, The Holy Trinity , is known for the engagement of linear
perspective to create an image that goes beyond just paint on canvas, (or should I say wall?) by
creating the illusion of depth. This painting addresses many religious concepts by setting up different
levels and layers in the constructed space. The characters depicted are made up of four groups of
human figures, which include the Trinity (God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the Virgin Mary
and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the picture. There is an
apparent point of separation, which is made clear due to each group being on separate levels. Their
difference in power is fundamental feature in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s placement of
the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the divine in
comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed beneath the
cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which indicates that
man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods importance in
comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives viewpoint. Masaccio s
manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine Trinity and closest to the
skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to God s divinity. This
demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up to Christ for salvation
and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it.
The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a
visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point is
approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows for
both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual
structure. While this created space within the picture appears to be real, it is actually just one of the

Mythology is an elusive connection to the past. Some stories are warped over time, fairy tales have
been retold for hundreds of years. Classic monsters, like werewolves, are particularly subject to
change as each author put their own spin on the legends. In the end, the result is a complex history
with multiple contradictions. The Harry Potter books incorporate aspects of mythology but
specifically attempt to adapt these classic creatures to modern day as well as explain the science
behind the myth. Harry Potter has multiple characters that are werewolves. Not only does the story
hint at the complex history of this creature, the author puts a political spin on her werewolves. But the

The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine
Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane existence of mortality.
This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the divine and sacred spaces forged by the
divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred
because it manifests itself [and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed
term hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine chooses to
reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s presence. After a
hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as,
a universal pillar which at once connects and supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the
world below (Eliade 1959: 36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles,
this paper will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God s
choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because God chose it through
his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment of axes mundi within the city s walls.
Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where
God created the first human beings on earth. In Genesis 2, God had planted a garden in the east, [and]
a river watering the garden flowed from Eden, there it was separated into four

Urban India is way ahead with 61.9 internet subscriptions per 100 people while rural India is
struggling with 13.7 subscriptions per 100 people. Digital disparity is so high that Delhi alone has 2.2

1.7 Awareness
Reaction is impulsive and rigorous in case of a threat. It is mild and lukewarm in case of an
opportunity. Same is the case with going cashless. Cyber security is one of the retarding factor which
can cast doubt in the mind of people, especially in those areas lagging behind in financial literacy. The
mass should be made aware of the benefits of going cashless. At the same time, they should have the
faith that their digital money is safe. India fares quite high in the United Nation s Telecommunication
Union s index of cyber security, placed in the maturing category at 23rd position out of 165 nations.
However, most of the ATMs in India still run on the outdated Windows XP which is vulnerable and
proned to cyber attacks. The case of 3.2 million debits of Yes Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, SBI, ICICI
compromised last year makes cyber security a challenge that need to be given due importance else
people will not have the confidence to go digital.
1.8 Suggestions
1. Limit in cash withdrawal should be reinstated to restrict uncontrolled flow of cash back into the
system.
2. ATMs should be upgraded regularly to latest version of Windows.
3. Startups in smartphone sector should be encouraged by proving subsidies to local entrepreneur so
that these can be availed at reasonable price in the market which is now being dominated by the
Chinese manufacturers.
4. Projects like Bharatnet should be allocated maximum fund( an

The Eyes of the Skin Analysis
The Eyes of the Skin of Architecture
Juhani Pallasmaa
This book was written by Juhani Pallasmaa with regard to Polemics , on issues that were part of the
architecture discourse of the time, i.e. 1995. It is also an extending of ideas expressed in an essay
entitled Architecture of the seven senses published in 1994.
As suggested by the title, this piece of literature attempts to highlight the importance of sensory
experience in architecture. It is indeed a response to what the author terms as ocularcentrism of
Modern Architecture. Ocularcentrism is the act of prioritizing visual stimuli to all other sensory
stimuli available to a human perception. He quotes famous German poet, Goethe, in his defense, the
hands want to see, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He emphasises on the presence of and an enveloping satisfaction through multi stimuli in nature;
giving an example of a trek through a forest, and the feeling of being within the space of a clearing
invoked by peripheral vision, complete with the crunching of leaves under the feet and sap smell that
surrounds us through the trek.
Building on this starting point Pallasmaa speaks of the importance of the shadow in creating light. He
suggests that it is the nuances of shadows and the dimly lit which actually tickle the senses, and that
Modern Architecture seems to lack this appreciation of the shadow.
Arguing systematically he takes the reader through all the senses in question; namely, hearing, smell,
touch and taste. For each sense he quotes an example from nature, thus describing how it is an
acknowledgement of all senses that completes a space. He talks of registering the speed of wind
through hearing and detecting the temperature of the same through touch.
Furthermore, he links smell with memory and adds that smell is by far one of the strongest mediums
that add to the memory of an experience. He then brings into his argument the presence of man by
discussing, time and the sense of proportion as man is designed to perceive in comparison to his self
and action where man measures through moving within a space.
In conclusion, Pallasmaa discusses the importance of these senses in the design process. He talks of
the distance created

The Education System Of India
Education system in India dates back to the Indus Valley civilization which saw the birth of new
culture. This period is referred as the Vedic age, as the Vedas were composed during this time. The
Ramayana and the Mahabharata gives lot of information on the life of the people and the education
system. We learn in the Vedas about the gurukul system which played an important role during that
period.
A child was sent to the gurukul at a tender age of 7 where he learnt different aspects of education,
warfare etc. the education system also throws light on the relationship between the guru(teacher) and
the shishya(student). The students were very obedient to their gurus. The education was free of cost

The Indian students never have intellectual courage because they are in an environment of those
thoughts which they are compelled to learn. Thus they lose their ideas and never knowing the
perspective of their growth. I would like to highlight a situation where a student was forced to take up
engineering which was not his cup of tea. He had a passion for fashion designing which was not liked
by his parents reason being a social status. Here it is important that the parents think beyond society,
social status and respect all professions equally as every profession has its own pros and cons.
The government schools in India is an important point of concern as these schools were leading once
upon a time. The debate continues regarding the education system to be government or private. The
increasing privatization of schools has led to the decrease in the number of students enrolled in
government schools. The reason being private schools have better infrastructure, facilities and well
certified teachers in comparison to government schools. People below poverty line also prefer private
schools thinking that the child would support them in future. The future of government engineering
colleges is also pathetic though there are many facilities important being RESERVATION . Inspite of
this the students focus themselves on private colleges because of the quality of education, good
faculty, proper infrastructure, labs and spacious campus.

Application Verification Calibration Circuit For Workstations
Our capstone project, DDR4 INTERFACE DESIGN VERIFICATON FOR SERVERS aims at the
design verification calibration circuit for high speed interfaces for memory subsystems. These
interfaces allow for data transfer to and from the memory to facilitate interoperability. During the
initial phase, we thoroughly studied the unique features and requirements of DDR4, the latest and
fastest version of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and the implications of those factors
for controller and physical layer design. In this project, my initial focus was on the physical layer that
connects the DDR4 memory to its controller. After an extensive literature review, I narrowed my focus
to the design and verification of calibration circuit, which is going to be used to calibrate resistance
and slew rate of drivers at IO buffers to provide better communication with external devices. 2.1.
Overview The DDR4 memory works at twice the data rate of its predecessors. This is facilitated by
the physical layer, which needs to be capable of reliably handling twice the data rate than it did with
the previous version of DRAM, DDR3. At the integrated circuits level, several changes have been
made to allow for this. Owing to these changes in specifications, the DDR4 subsystem is capable of
achieving the doubled data rates at a lower power consumption allowing for prolonged battery life in
devices employing this

  • 3. Chief Wahoo Logo Analysis In 2014, Cleveland Indians had to drop their Chief Wahoo logo and reduce the visibility of the logo even though the Indians had the fundamental right of the First Amendment to capitalize on the name. The Indians decided to switch to a block C on their shirts, but a small logo, depicting a red faced cartoon with a feather headband still appeared on some team caps and jerseys. On October 17th 2016 Douglas Cardinal, an indigenous rights activist, filed a case to bar the Cleveland Indians from using their name and especially their Chief Wahoo logo during a play off game which was going be held in Toronto, Canada. • 4. The Rational And Self Interested Agent Used As A Model Of... Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of anonymous, one shot cooperation games, Yamagishi et al. (2014) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to arrive at an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility maximization. I address these points in brief below. Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators that they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic literature was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g. Kahneman Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations under risk, and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus the assumptions underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows economists to make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This notion, that economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that Homo economicus can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated representations of real life decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the models are at best useful approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application rather than the models themselves. Though why is it that we don t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The speed of your canoe going down the pole determines the mass of how much each of the rider s weight so be careful about who you sit with. Centripetal acceleration along with centripetal force are two of the many things you will be feeling. However, right before you stop winding and go straight you will notice there is no more water. Many people were ready for equal treatment without judgement of race or gender. During the 50 s this was considered a rejuvenation of the civil rights movement. The United States had problems with hate crimes, racial profiling and voting rights for African Americans. Many African Americans endured harsh treatment and were discriminated again in many situations. • 8. Assess Sociological Explanations of the Role of the Mass... Assess sociological explanations of the role of the mass media in creating moral panics about crime and deviance: A moral panic is the process of arousing social concern over an issue, this is often an exaggerated over reaction by society to a perceived problem, which is usually driven or inspired by the media. In this situation the reaction ends up amplifying the problem out of proportion to its real seriousness. This creates anxiety amongst the general population, and this therefore puts pressure on the agents of social control to deal with the problem, who then act accordingly to the group responsible for the panic. There is a strong relationship between mass media and crime. On average, around 30% of newspaper content is dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This creates public anxiety and puts a great deal of pressure on the authorities to stamp down on the problem group and its rebellious activities. New laws, increased policing and severe punishments are often a result of the media s coverage of the issue. Although, a self fulfilling prophecy may develop as the group resists the attempts that are put in place to control it, this leads to an increase in arrests and more reporting. A deviancy amplification spiral therefore results, meaning that deviance could increase as a result of the moral panic. An early moral panic involves Mods VS Rockers in 1964. Events that were actually just a few scuffles between youths and vandalism were report in an exaggerated way. The media portrayed this event as a Day of Terror and words such as Riots and battle were used. Cohen suggests over reporting of this far outweighed the importance of the actual event. He argues that the media tapped into a social consensus, that all the public shared concerns about the general decline in morality of the young and the emergence of a strong youth culture. Consequently the two groups were perceived in a stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi (1994) moral panics arise when society fails to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For example, the first moral panics about youth in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a distinctive consumer group with values, norms of behaviour and ... The time and energy which would be spent searching lockers could be used in more efficient way. If schools didn t have to ability to perform random searches, those who bring banded objects to school will know that they could just hide it in their lockers without having to worry. When students are given a locker, most schools will have the students sign a policy, which will include something notifying that random searches may be conducted. My mother would cook food for them and pay their bus fare and train fare. And my little brother and I would escort the patients in to see my father, who would not only write the prescriptions, but pay for the medicines for them as well. And at the end of the day, my parents would sit with me and explain what had happened during the day. And the moral of the lesson always was that if you want to be happy, then you have to make somebody else happy. I grew up with this notion that you must always have somebody in your life that you can trust, that you can confide in, that you can seek advice from, and that you can learn skills from. And the best skills come not in school, they come from the people that you re close to, that care about you, that you care about. At one point in time, I have three, or four, or five people that I am acting as a mentor for. And I listen to them mostly. But Richard is fascinated by their strangeness and attended their dances and fiestas as part of his journey of self discovery. They had a burning contempt for people of different ancestry, whom they called Americans, and a marked hauteur toward Mexico and toward their parents for their old country ways. The former feeling came from a sense of inferiority that is a prominent characteristic in any Mexican reared in southern California; and the latter was an inexplicable compensation for that feeling. They needed to feel superior to something, which is a natural thing. The result was that they attempted to segregate themselves from both their cultures, and became truly a lost race. Such practices require fossil fuels in immense quantities through fertilizers, pesticides, and transportation. However, passionate debates often occur over the importance and where to go from here. This means that an emphasis on Christ s death on the cross and it being an example for/influence on humanity is classed as subjective theories. Objective theories put stress on what the atonement achieved at the event of the cross, outside individuals. This means that any view that sees Jesus crucifixion as payment by God for our sins is classed as an objective theory. The first theory I will be looking at is the Ransom theory. The ransom theory is one of the earliest theories of atonement that originated with Origen of Alexandria. This view orientated from Mark 10:24 and Matthew 20:28, where it states that the Son of Man came to give his life as a ransom for many. This word ransom was a familiar one for the early Church as it bring up Old Testament imagery as it was a word use of God s rescue of Israel from Egypt. This theory states that Christ s death on the cross was a necessary act as a payment to Satan for our release. Due to Adam s sin, we were captured legally by Satan through the bonds of original sin. Therefore, in order to secure our freedom justly, a price needed to be paid to Satan. Thus Jesus died on the cross to be that payment. Gregory of Nyssa explains this theory in terms of God fishing for humanity using Jesus humanity as bait. Happiness indicates an approachable person while anger signifies someone to stay away from. These two decisions are the most basic and simplest behavioral decisions. But sometimes, this decision does go wrong, since humans are after all humans. And along with the mistake, some circumstances are riskier than others. Such as going up to a vicious person might be an inherently costly mistake than avoiding a person who is actually safe to approach ( Haselton Buss, 2000). A highly adapted system of perception might be more attuned to locating cues that would signify danger, such as the facial intensity in locating hints of anger, in individuals who seem to possess the capability in dealing out more harm as distinguished by their built, carrying armaments and other details. Some might not even present any immediate risk, but overlooking an identifying cue that could indicate the stranger being harmful is a costly mistake due to bodily harm being a possibility than when seeing such cues where there are none. Approach, on the other hand, is a tricky matter. And as such, people afford opportunities that are positive. The characters depicted are made up of four groups of human figures, which include the Trinity (God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the Virgin Mary and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the picture. The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s placement of the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the divine in comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed beneath the cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which indicates that man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods importance in comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives viewpoint. Masaccio s manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine Trinity and closest to the skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to God s divinity. This demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up to Christ for salvation and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it. The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point is approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows for both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual structure. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the divine and sacred spaces forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself [and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed term hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959: 36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment of axes mundi within the city s walls. Building on this starting point Pallasmaa speaks of the importance of the shadow in creating light. He suggests that it is the nuances of shadows and the dimly lit which actually tickle the senses, and that Modern Architecture seems to lack this appreciation of the shadow. Arguing systematically he takes the reader through all the senses in question; namely, hearing, smell, touch and taste. For each sense he quotes an example from nature, thus describing how it is an acknowledgement of all senses that completes a space. He talks of registering the speed of wind through hearing and detecting the temperature of the same through touch. During the initial phase, we thoroughly studied the unique features and requirements of DDR4, the latest and fastest version of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and the implications of those factors for controller and physical layer design. In this project, my initial focus was on the physical layer that connects the DDR4 memory to its controller. After an extensive literature review, I narrowed my focus to the design and verification of calibration circuit, which is going to be used to calibrate resistance and slew rate of drivers at IO buffers to provide better communication with external devices. 2.1. Overview The DDR4 memory works at twice the data rate of its predecessors. This is facilitated by the physical layer, which needs to be capable of reliably handling twice the data rate than it did with the previous version of DRAM, DDR3. At the integrated circuits level, several changes have been made to allow for this. Owing to these changes in specifications, the DDR4 subsystem is capable of achieving the doubled data rates at a lower power consumption allowing for prolonged battery life in devices employing this ... • 35. Food Deserts Essay Two: Americans and Food We all have heard the old English proverb An apple a day will keep the doctor away . Applied in a more general or wide perspective it means that eating nutritious foods will make you healthier. This is one reason why it is so sad that more than 23 million Americans, including 6.5 million children, live in low income urban neighborhoods that are more than a mile away from a supermarket or in urban areas that are more than ten miles in rural (Croft). The USDA defines food deserts as parts of the country where fresh fruit, vegetables and other healthful whole foods, are limited usually in impoverished areas.
