Critical Thinking--Responsibity of Accident Essay
Table saw accidents are more common than the average person would think. According to Table Saw
Accident Stories and Statistics, 95% of the accidents are hand, arm, wrist and finger injuries and 5%
are eye, face, trunk, and leg with persons between the ages of 15 64. Three important issues stand out
when it come to the operation of table saws in the work place and in the home; safety, training and
equipment conditions. Mr. John Schmidt was injured on June 7; he seriously injured his hand while
pushing a large piece of wood through a table saw in the production shop at work. Who is at fault
here, the company or Mr. John Schmidt? Problems to be examined are the functioning of the safety
guards presently on the table saw being used in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The co worker claims that the foreman was informed by them about the safety guard. After examining,
the safety report records state the opposite of what s in the written maintenance reports. If there was an
issue with equipment the foreman is supposed to report it to the shop manager. Being that the safety
guard was poorly designed is my main reason to why the company is at fault. The company put their
employees at risk when they had knowledge of a safety issue.
Training, secondly, is very important in the operation of table saws. While the safety guards are in
place to protect the operator from hazards, it is still important that employers have trained their staff
properly in operating equipment. Although the safety guard is intended to protect, it only protects in
four directions: from above, from the rear and form the sides. This puts the operator hands
inadvertently unprotected from the front of the saw. Training records need to be checked and if they
are outdated enroll everyone, including the foreman and the shop managers up for training classes on
equipment. Also the foreman and the shop managers need to go to manager training on how to handle
workplace safety, employee situations and how to handle incidents reported to them. Also as part of
the training, making sure that the employees or management understand the company handbook and
other policies hoping it will help

Culture Jamming Definition
Culture jamming is a tactic used by anti consumerists, it is a practice of parodying advertisements and
hijacking billboards in attempt to make a statement regarding the incorrect messages presented to
consumers. In other words people who physically vandalize on ads out in the public to get their
opinion out, whether it be for electronics, fashion, food restaurants and so on. Culture jammers may
feel they are just as powerful as the multi billion dollar advertising corporations. If vandalism is a
crime then most certainly culture jamming is also considered a criminal activity. Although it may be
beneficial to be informed about the products and services we consumers buy, it is still not acceptable
and is still considered vandalism. I am all

The Gentle Giant Research Paper
Gentle Giants Have you ever thought of a shark being gentle? The whale shark is known as a gentle
giant because they do not attack humans, it would be very uncommon. Scientists still have not
discovered many others, as they may say. The whale shark has many very cool characteristics that help
them live their life. Whale sharks feed from what is called a Filter Feeder . A filter feeder, according to
page 2, strain the zooplankton. The article states, As it cruises through the ocean, water flows
continuously into its mouth. Filter pads in its throat strain out the zooplankton, and the filtered water is
expelled through the shark s gills... (2).This shows how a filter feeder works and what it is used for.

Local Self Government
Introduction
Local government institutions have always existed in India in one form or another since ancient times.
The present form of urban local government owes its genesis to the British rule. The initiation began
with Samuel Laing, member of the Viceroy s Council, in the Budget Speech (1861 62) proposing that
local services should be based on local resources. Lord Mayo s Resolution of 1870 introduced the
concept of elected representatives in the municipalities. Lord Ripon is considered the founding father
of urban local government as he implanted the concept of municipal authorities as units of self
government. His Resolution of 18 May 1882 on local self government dealt with the constitution of
local bodies, their functions, finances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government had a direct link with the peasants instead of the feudatories. The Chola kings had
adopted the Yuvaraja during king`s rule. The orders of the kings were written and copies of it would
be sent to respective departments and officers. The royal priest was the reliable advisor of the King.
Development of local self government was one of the most striking features of administration of the
Chola dynasty. The villages were given autonomy despite centralised system of governance. The
Chola officials acted as advisors to village assemblies and there was no interference in daily
administration. Thus there was continuity in village administration despite political upheavals. The
general assembly was classified into tax paying villagers, Brahmins and traders. The central
government officers examined accounts and supervised the work of the tax paying villagers. The
village assemblies received gifts from rich men or from king for developmental activities. The
feudatories were unable to impede in the village management. Their job was very clerical in the sense
it was a mere collection of taxes and passing the share to the King.
Elaborate and complicated mechanisms are the attributes of Chola administration. Administration
under the Chola dynasty was systematically conducted. Autonomy along with centralization was
moderately followed in each and every level. Revenue, justice, governance and military were given

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through
verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human
heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to
understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s
love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of
Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through
the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also
know God s love through God s providential care and sustainment ... Show more content on

Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to
understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His
attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love
through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the
regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence,
there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of
God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is
the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the
Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit
(Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption
where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in
the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

Comparing Genji And The Tale Of Heike
The era of feudal Japan was a rich developing culture that gave fruit to the Tale of Genji and the Tale
of Heike, 2 major works of Japanese prose. Both historic are consider the greatest masterpieces of
Japanese literature. A martial epic deeply influenced by Buddhism and a sensual, romantic
psychological prose. Both served as a window to the archaic era s way of like. The two brilliant pieces

prominent in their writings and all other documents. Women were generally being much more discreet

wrote The Tale of Genji in Japanese radiotelephony alphabet and not Chinese. And the main reason
was because the Tale was geared towards female audiences, whom only knew Japanese traditional
writing. Even so, Murusaki being a woman she was educated in Chinese and the Buddhist classic and

Adoption Is A Better Choice
When women are faced with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy, there are many options for them.
Most of their options are not straight forward or easy to see. Some mothers decide to keep their child
while others feel that adoption or abortion is the better choice for both themselves and the unborn
child. In the United States, nearly one in four pregnancies end in abortion. Adoption is a better choice
because it is just the beginning for a life.
According to the blog, Our Bodies Ourselves, the first recorded abortion in the Untied States was in
the 1800s. Up until this time, abortion was legally practiced throughout the nation. The government, at
the time, decided to ban and make abortions illegal. The reason for making it illegal was to ... Show

Our Bodies and Ourselves continue to say that within the years of 1960 and 1973, 18 out of 50 states
had either changed or appealed their abortion laws. These changes said that a women could receive an
abortion, if the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest. ( History )
In 1973, the Roe v. Wade case would change abortion laws in the United States. According to CNN,
this case was between Norma McCorrey, who wanted the abortion and Henry Wade, the district
attorney for Dallas County. The case didn t pass in Texas so Roe took the case to the Supreme Court.
In a seven to two decision, the court decided that the women s right to have an abortion fell under the
14th amendment. ( Roe )
What is an abortion though? It seems as everyone has their own definition to what an abortion is.
According to the Law Dictionary, the definition of an abortion is the artificial of spontaneous
termination of a pregnancy before the embryo or fetus can survive on its own outside of the mother s
womb. ( What is ) One author, in the article Can We Talk About Abortion, describes abortion as
morally problematic, pastorally delicate, legislatively thorny and widely performed. (Inspire)

there are at least 1.1 million abortions each year. In the study, they concluded that 50% of all women

Anne Bradstreet To My Dear And Love Husband
The poet speaks to her husband, celebrating their unity and saying that there is no man in the world
whose wife loves him more. If there was ever a wife more happy with her husband, the poet asks those
women to compare themselves to her. She prizes her husband s love more than gold or the riches of
the East. Rivers cannot quench her love and no love but his can ever satisfy her. There is no way she
can ever repay him for his love. She believes they should love each other so much that when they die,
their love will live on.Analysis: Anne Bradstreet s passionate love poems to her husband are some of
the memorable in her canon because of the rawness of her expression. To my Dear and Loving

Men and women married young and were expected to remain together until they died. Puritan society
did not tolerate divorce or adultery, although cases of both are certainly present in the historical
record. Husbands and wives were supposed to adhere to the Biblical definition of marriage, which
emphasized mutual love and respect. However, Puritans were not supposed to place all of their efforts
in the relationship on Earth, but rather, to glorify God through their union. As the Poetry Foundation s
page on Bradstreet explains, marriage was very important and the focus on family was crucial;
however, the love between wife and husband was not supposed to distract from devotion to God. In
Bradstreet s sonnets, her erotic attraction to her husband is central, and these poems are more secular
than religious. Robert J. Richardson writes that the development in To My Dear and Loving Husband
is clear and logical. The poet s husband loves her so much that in order to find something that equals
it, she must turn her sights Heavenward. The lovers union in Heaven is the outcome of their Earthly
love which is an emblem of what awaits the

Perseus As A Hero In Ancient Greek Culture
Perseus an important character in Greek mythology because he shows many traits valued by Greek
culture. What is exactly a hero in ancient Greek mythology and culture, and what role does fate play in
myths? A hero is one extraordinary individual who represents the values greatly admired and sought
after in ancient Greek society. Perseus showed the epic traits of ;family, perseverance, and
couragesness. These were all very valued in ancient Greek culture. I will be; summarizing Perseus
story, how he demonstrates the values of ancient Greek society, and explaining his cultural
significance and how fate plays a big role.
King Acrisius was king of Argos. He had an amazingly beautiful daughter, but he wished deeply for a
son, so he prayed to the gods for them to give him a son. Apollo, the god of culture and prophecy, told
him that he will never have a son in all his days and that the son of his daughter will slay him. Acrisius
thinks of just killing his daughter,Danae, to prevent his prophecy, but fears of the punishment he will
receive from the gods for this act, so he instead locks his daughter in an entirely bronze house and
guards it closely. What he did not expect is for the king of the gods Zeus to come directly to his
daughter and impregnate her. From this comes a son named Perseus. When Acrisius learns of his
daughter s offspring, he puts both Perseus and Danae in a trunk and sets it off into the ocean. By luck
or by the will of Zeus Perseus and Danae wash up onto a small island, where a kind hearted fisherman
named Dictys takes in the two strangers. They live contently with Dictys until Dictys brother, King
Polydectes, fell in love with Danae. He decides to construe a plot to get rid of her son,Perseus, so that
he can have her. The plan he comes is to convince Perseus to go and slay the woman beast Medusa.
He thinks this feat impossible by a mortal man, because any man who lays eyes upon her turns to
stone. To aid him on his quest Hermes gives him a sword stronger than that of Medusa s scale. He also
told him he would need equipment from the nymphs of the north, who s location was unknown by all

One And Done Rule In College Sports Essay
Many people have heard about how some pro athletes have gone straight to the NBA out of high
school. The one and done rule was created to prevent these player from going straight from high
school to the professional level. The one and done rule has been a big controversy for college sports
like football and basketball. It has been a problem for college teams because they loose their best
players. The One and Done rule was supposed to protect unprepared high school players from the
difficult professional transition (Hughes 4). It would help prepare them better by playing one year of
college before going pro. The rule also gives players a chance to change their minds if they feel they
are not ready (McDiffett 12). They thought that the players going straight to the NBA were not very
prepared and this would help with that. The players only have to go to college for one year to be able
to go pro, but it used to be that the player could come straight out of high school into the professional
league. Also Hughes says, it gives NBA teams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as good the year after because they lost everyone. Also LSU got Ben Simmons this year, and he is the

The Medical Examiner System Should Replace the Traditional...
Death is an elementary word harboring many meanings. It is the feeling of being caught in the grip of
inevitably. It is a personal realization that you too are mortal. It is the recognition that one s life is
changed forever. The shiny image of a once bright world full of promise dulls. Unfortunately, every
individual will experience the death of a loved one at least once in their life. No words can soothe the
agony of losing a loved one. State legislatures are familiar with this grief and have created either a
coroner system or a medical examiner system. A coroner system consists of a coroner whose

This method may have been sufficient in the 10th century when people were illiterate and believed the
world was flat; however, the scientific world since then has grown exponentially. Science is a
powerful study, aiding us in understanding the complex process life and the absence of life, death.
Pathology, the science of disease, has assisted in the arrests of countless criminals, uncovering the
truth and more notably providing a sense of closure for the loved ones of the deceased. A coroner
system without the foundation of science is a system that keeps murders on the streets, the innocent
behinds bars and prosecutors frozen in cases. The most memorable example of inefficiency is Dr. Paul
McGarry, who made careless errors in not just one but four autopsies. In the case of new prison inmate
Cayne Miceli, McGarry initially determined the cause of death to be a drug overdose. Upon the
further examination, a second examiner found a heap of mucus in her lungs indicating she had severe
asthma. The doctor then concluded the real cause of death was the jail restraints on her chest blocked
her airways during an asthma attack (Thompson, 2011, para 13 16). A peculiar fact about the case was
the McGarry concluded the cause of death before he got the test results. Could he had been trying to

Surprise Attack on Pearl Harbour In late 1941 more than 75 U.S. warships including battleships,
cruisers, destroyers, submarines, and auxiliaries were based at this Gibraltar of the Pacific. All U.S.
aircraft carriers were elsewhere. On November 26 a Japanese task force, consisting of 6 carriers, 2
battleships, 3 cruisers, and several destroyers and tankers under command of Vice Adm. Chuichi
Nagumo, departed in secret from the Kuril Islands. Observing radio silence, it reached a launching
point at 6 AM, December 7. At 7:50 AM, the first wave of Japanese planes struck Pearl Harbour,
bombarding airfields and battleships moored at the concrete quays. A second wave followed. The
surprise attack was over before 10 AM. The results were devastating; 18 U.S. ships were hit, and more
than 200 aircraft destroyed or damaged. The battleship Arizona was a total wreck; the West Virginia
and California were sunk; and the Nevada was heavily damaged. Approximately 2,400 Americans
were killed, 1,300 wounded, and 1,000 missing. Japanese losses were fewer than 100 casualties, 29
planes, and 5 midget submarines. The Japanese scored a brilliant tactical victory, apparently crippling
U.S. naval power in the Pacific. The attack was, however, a colossal political and psychological
blunder, for it mobilised U.S. public opinion against the Japanese and served as the catalyst that
brought the United States into the war. December 7, 1941, said President Franklin D.

Examples Of Naturalism In The Call Of The Wild
Naturalism, expressed through the submission of living beings to nature in the novella, shows the
dominant power of heredity and the social environment against a creature s will, a major concept in
the 19th century realism movement. Buck, the protagonist that metamorphosed from a companion to a
pack dog serves as a metaphor for the impermanence of previous discipline. Also, the violent mood
provoked by Buck s brutal instinctive behavior towards Spitz and other characters in the novel
represents the power of the social and physical environment even against centuries of evolution and
domestication. In the novel, Buck is a domestic dog who is stolen and shipped north during the
Klondike Gold Rush to drag sleds for the prospectors heading to and from Dawson. He stands for one
of the many dogs that were turned into machines for the benefit of humans. He was taught to obey the
club and man and was severely punished by the man for failing to do so Buck s introduction to
primitive law. (16) On page 19, the narrator states He had been suddenly jerked from the heart of

Reverend Wright s Speech Controversy
In 2003, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, President Barack Obama s former pastor, gave a sermon that
seemingly condemned America. Snippets of the reverend s speech sparked controversy in 2008 due to
the fact that President Obama was still running for the democratic nominee for the Presidential
Election. Doubts about Obama began to form due to his association with Wright. Can the country trust
a man who associates with a person that hate the country? As a response to the reverend s statement,
Obama gave his speech A More Perfect Union to address the controversy, strongly putting Wright s
speech in perspective and settling the controversies about himself. Reverend Wright s sermon went
viral due to the fact he says, Goddamn America. In the short clips of his sermon, Reverend Wright was
riling up the members of his church as he talks about the inequalities African Americans have to face
in the country. The statements made in the short clip anger and may even have sparked some fear in
people. How dare Wright to have insulted his own country and states that it was in the Bible and did
Obama share the same views as his minister? How will these radical views effect Obama s decision as
President if he wins the election? In Obama s speech, he ultimately disagrees with Reverend Wright s
statements and explains Wright s background to give some context of the sermon and also reassures
the country of his qualifications as a nominee for the Presidential Election. I agree with Obama

Eastlyn Koons Robots Are Better Than Humans
The increased development of artificial intelligence and the everyday use of technology can lead to a
future full of robots, claims Eastlyn Koons in Robots are Better than Humans. Koons lives in the
modern day where advancements are being made every day in the field of technology and artificial
intelligence machines have started to replace the jobs of some people. People fear the uprising of robot
rebellion and an inevitable Doomsday because of it. Through appeals to fear and pride, Koons asks the
world to consider the use of technology in their lives and the role it may play in the future. Koons
starts off the intro of her satirical essay by using sarcasm and rhetorical in order to show the audience
what is happening with the world at that time and establish the satire of her essay. In the first sentence,
Koons claims that robots are better than humans, as they are humans favorite things , suggesting that
the humans basically created their own better version. Koons utilizes a rhetorical question to ask why
humans are still there , showcasing the dispensability and non necessity of humans when robots are
present. By doing so, Koons demonstrates that humans have, in a way, become the cause of their own
downfall. After establishing the satirical nature of her essay, Koons sets the context to explain the

The Purpose Of The Pantheon
The Pantheon is one the greatest paradoxes in modern archeology. On the one hand, the structure s
preservation is absolutely remarkable and has allowed scholars from all over the world the opportunity
to study its design for centuries. Yet, for such a well known and iconic building, the meaning behind
the Pantheon remains uncertain. Many scholars, unsatisfied with the mainstream theory that the
building was a temple dedicated to all gods; have proposed their own unique explanation for the
Pantheon s purpose. Perhaps the most radical of these can be found in Adam Ziolkowski s article Was
Agrippa s Pantheon the Temple of Mars In Campo? ; which proposes, as the title suggests, that the
original Pantheon was actually the Temple of Mars in campo ... Show more content on

First, Ziolkowski notes that the Pantheon s southern neighbor, the Temple of Neptune, had a similar
change in purpose as it became the Basilica of Neptune. Ziolkowski cites the calendar Fasti Palatii
Urbinatis as the clue about the fate of these two buildings. Written around the same time as the
Pantheon s construction, 13 BC, the Fasti Palatii Urbinatis does not make any mention of the temple
of Mars and Neptune in Campo. However, this calendar only recorded temple that were aedes
publicae, public temples. If the two in campo temples were not aedes publicae, this would explain
their absence from this calendar. As to why the temple of Mar and Neptune in Campo were not made
into public temples, Ziolkowski cites the the only war Augustus ever lost, that against Roman public
opinion, which stubbornly refused to approve of monuments exalting victories won in civil war. The
two temple in campo were constructed to honor Agrippa s (and Augustus s) land and sea victories,
which would conflict with public opinion. By making them both private temple, Agrippa avoided the
forces that apparently made Augustus pull down his first triumphal arch in the Forum. However not
being aedes publicae, had a downside. Unlike a public temple whose character and patron deity or
deities were fixed and known to everybody, and could not be changed except through the ritual of
inauguration or rededication , a private temple dedication was subject to more flexibility. Ziolkowski
suggests that the same dissenters could have sifted the changed the temples purposes after the reign of
Emperor Augustus had ended. However, Ziolkowski does offer another suspect for the two temple s

Ever since I was in junior high school I have been fixated on remote control planes and small
unmanned aerial vehicles. The interest ironically started out from a toy helicopter crash combined
with my curiosity, igniting a life long passion that eventually became my singular fixation and my

Some of them offered to help me learn to fly by trying their planes, and through them I built up the
courage to fly my more fragile planes. On that day I had my first successful flights with my Nieuport
17 biplane, a World War I plane that took me nearly three weeks to complete. After landing the plane,
I began to talk to the other pilots and learned the meaning behind the often repeated phrase fly, crash,
repeat. I built more planes and several months later started a new project, a small drone that could be
flown for short distances using a camera. Its four powerful blades flew very well during the maiden
flight until I had to repeat the phrase fly, crash, repeat in a disappointed voice as my battle with gravity
and the ground was lost. I retrieved my craft and began the repair process, delaying the project by two
more months. The next flight was more successful as it flew faster and responded quicker than before.

The Effect Of Solar Flares On Our Future Essay
Possibly the most dramatic event that occurs within our solar system is the solar flare. Scientists have
spent much time studying this solar phenomenon attempting to learn how to predict them. This in turn
has caused a significant increase in understanding the anatomy of solar flares to include the phases of
flares and what they emit. Bringing things closer to Earth, the emissions of solar flares can have a
significant impact in today s technological world. By far, the largest impact of solar flares to our
technology is radio blackouts. The emissions of solar flares cause scintillation to occur in the
ionosphere effectively blocking long distance transmissions. Solar flares are excessively bright and
powerful and so deserve our attention not only from a scientific standpoint, but a societal standpoint as
we rely more and more on our technology.
Currently, scientists do not fully understand why and how solar flares occur. However, they have and
continue to perform research into how the Sun creates solar flares. As scientists understood it now,
solar flares occur in relation to the magnetic fields of the Sun.1 These magnetic fields continuously
shift and twist around. They believe the movement of the magnetic fields causes a buildup of energy
which results in a solar flare, but scientists have not been able to sufficiently explain how the
mechanism works.2
Our lack of understanding solar flare physics makes predicting a solar flare tricky so we must rely on
past observations.

awarded the Soldier s Medal, one of several commendations earned during his military career. Powell
excelled in military and academic pursuits. Although an average student in his early years, he made
excellent grades in his 30s while earning his MBA at George Washington University, despite lacking
many undergraduate prerequisites when he enrolled. Powell never put chalk marks on the wall that
indicated he has to do this. He has tried to do his best at what came his way. He was not without

It Had Been A Hard Day’S Night For Michelle, Everything
It had been a hard day s night for Michelle, everything from the death of her mother to the sudden
move to New York City had really taken a toll on her. The city was flooded with dealers; needing
something to get her through the stress of the day, she did her business and rushed to her cramped
apartment to calm her nerves. Unlocking the door to Apartment 64, Michelle hears a faint tune in the
back of her head, too quiet to make out but too prominent to ignore. Could nobody else hear what she
was hearing? She rushes into her room and tosses her things on her futon. Turning on the lights, she

thoughts, but the music continues to get louder. Feeling neurotic, she bursts into tears and grips her

Terrorism After Ww2
Terrorism after World War Two took on the rise of Nationalistic and Endemic terrorism. Terrorist
campaigns were aimed at the security forces, and they also targeted audiences in the imperial
homelands (White, pg. 161, 2012). The British government was a major player in the cause of this I
believe from regions in Cyprus and Kenya. Occupation by the Brits gathered the rise of the original
ethnic groups within those regions to fight against this occupation. This resulted in an uncomfortable
conflict of interests with the NATO partners of the United Kingdom and Turkey, and it threatened the
stability of the alliance (White, pg. 162, 2012). France also invaded North Africa and some French

138, 2012). These long term separatists are different from the religious group as are the ethnic and
nationalistic groups. They usually have a clear mission. The Basque Nation and Liberty (ETA) fought
against Spain for a long time and just ended its fight in 2011. Ethnic terrorism is as its name states that
it s a fight between different ethnic groups within a region. Examples of these are the Kurdistan
Workers Party (PKK), and the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA). They want to make a
statement of the identity, and be recognized as such. Unfortunately this can take on a violent nature
and become terrorism as it has in the past. Modern terrorism is associated with the 1916 Easter Black
Rising, the Black and Tan War of 1919 to 1921 (White, pg. 139, 2012). Sri Lanka has suffered
terrorism in the form of this type by groups of the Sinhalese, and the Tamils. Ireland had been
occupied by the British for an extremely long time and this has caused terrorism in Ireland. Irish
nationalists, long angered by the colonial rule of England, incorporated terrorist techniques into their
revolt against British rule, and their experiences evolved as weapons technology improved (White, pg.
139, 2012). Ethnic Terrorism in separatist movements ranges through many parts of the world.

Hunger Games Survival Essay
Frank Herbert once said, Survival is the ability to swim in strange water (Herbert). When Katniss
Everdeen, a sixteen year old from one of the poorest districts in a country called Panem is thrown into
an arena where she would fight to the death with 23 other tributes. This happens in Panem every year
to remind the people that the Capitol is in charge and to prevent another rebellion in the future. It is
called the Hunger Games. When she was thrown into the arena, she did everything she could to keep
herself alive, which is just like swimming in strange water. Katniss had many reasons why she wanted
to survive, and she did, which makes survival a key theme in the book. The theme of the book, The
Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, when Rue was killed, she promised that she would win the Games for her. The book states, You
have to win, she says. I m going to. Going to win for both of us now, I promise (Collins 233 234).
Because Katniss had worked with Rue and they helped each other out. They had formed a friendship,
and when it was broken by Rue s death, she felt even more motivated to win the games for her.
Additionally, she also felt the need to survive the rest of the Games after the boy tribute, Thresh, who
was from Rue s district, District 11, killed the girl who was about to murder Katniss. But instead of
killing Katniss too, he let her go because she had helped Rue. As the text says, Clove is dangling a
foot off the ground, imprisoned in Thresh s arm... Conflicting emotions cross Thresh s face. He lowers
the rock and points at me, almost accusingly. Just this one time, I let you go. For the little girl. You and
me, we re even then, no more owed (Collins 286, 288). Because Thresh let her go, Katniss felt the
motivation again to survive for Rue because Thresh would have killed her had it not been for her
helping Rue. Because of Rue, she was still alive, so she wanted to do all she could to win for her. To
summarize, survival is a key theme of The Hunger Games because Katniss wanted to survive for Rue
because they were allies and because Thresh let her go because she had befriended Rue. Lastly, the
theme of The Hunger Games

Anatomy Of The Pulmonary, Coronaries And Veins
Anatomy Of The pulmonary, Coronaries and aorta arteries
Gross anatomy
The heart and great vessels are roughly in the middle of the thorax, being surrounded laterally and
posteriorly by the lungs and anteriorly by the sternum and the central part of the thoracic cage. The
heart acts a twofold, self modifying suction and pressure pump, the parts of which work in union to
push blood to all parts of the body. The right half of the heart (right heart) gets ineffectively
oxygenated (venous) blood from the body via the SVC and IVC and pumps it through the pulmonary
trunk to the lungs for oxygenation. The left half of the heart (left heart) gets well oxygenated (arterial)
blood from the lungs via the pulmonary veins and pushes it into the aorta for circulation to the body
(Fig.1) (Moore and Dalley, 2006).
Fig.1. The heart and great vessels (Quoted from Shah, 2005)
I Anatomy of pulmonary arteries:
The lungs get blood by means of two sets of arteries: pulmonary arteries and bronchial arteries.
Deoxygenated blood goes through the pulmonary trunk which separates into a left pulmonary artery
that enters the left lung and a right pulmonary artery that enters the right lung. Return of the
oxygenated blood to the heart happens by method of the four pulmonary veins which deplete into the
left atrium (Tortora and Nielsen, 2012). The fundamental divisions of the trunk are the right and left
pulmonary arteries. The right pulmonary artery goes in front of the

Keats To Autumn Essay
John Keats was an English romantic poet in the early 1800s. One of his best works To Autumn is
beautiful and lyrical, the words creating an entire scene painting a picture in our minds of great
imagery through words that create color, tone, and environment. The poem means much more than
just the description of the season. While some critics have considered it a static poem, there are others
who disagree with that assessment. The poem discusses time and the seasonal nature of life. The poem
can sometimes be thought of as symbolizing a life that has reached its peak and is drifting towards the
sleep of winter. The construction of the poem as a piece of language art has been done with skills that
are surprising and inventive. While it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second verse describes the labor of autumn as the harvests are processed and the end of the long
cycle of the season is prepared. Autumn is a season of storing of grain, the pressing of apples to cider
and preparations that come with caring for the harvested food that must be tended to in order to
prepare for the long sleep of winter. Autumn is given human characteristics as it begins its long
journey towards the end of its day with all of the applications of labor overseen by the person that
represents the season. We can see this In the last phrase, Keats states And sometimes like a gleaner
thou dost keep Steady thy laden head across the brook Or by a cider press, with patient look, Thou
watchest the last oozings hours by hours (Nemoianu 205). The third verse uses the poet s tool of
personification of autumn, meaning he assigns human characteristics to the season itself. Keats tells
Autumn that she is just as beautiful as spring for the music she creates. The verse praises of the beauty
of Autumn, creating a sense of the color and warmth that exists even though age of the seasons has
arrived. The imagery has reds and yellows even though it is not specifically stated. There is the feeling
of sound that exists within the music of autumn. The way in which Keats presents the

outcome of such research is our understanding of human anatomy, which can be used in various

The Expansion of Computer Knowledge
Since the advent of silicon chips and microprocessors the worldwide demand for computers has
skyrocketed. Computer scientists around the world are pushing the boundaries of what is considered
possible in their field by making their creations more sophisticated and capable year by year. Artificial
Intelligence (A.I) is the idea of a computer system that can display acts of intelligence and
independent thought similar to humans. Many people approach the prospect of artificial intelligence
with fear and caution but for intrepid computer scientists true artificial intelligence is the ultimate
goal. People are reaching an ever more symbiotic relationship with computers and as the world moves
forward the question must be posed: Will computer intelligence ever eclipse our own?
Gordon E. Moore, the Intel co founder, stated in 1965 that the number of transistors on a one inch
diameter of silicon doubles every X number of months (X is taken to be between 18 and 24 months).
The aptly named Moore s Law now forms the basis of the semi conductor industry and its prediction
has proved remarkably accurate. Put simply, computers get twice as fast every two years. The
incredible advancement of computers processing power can be interpreted as indicating an inevitable
future where computers outstrip people. The issue with this assertion is that it makes the assumption
that increases in progress will stay constant; even the semi conductor industry acknowledges that the
speed at which processing

Dominance of the Ohio Valley Region
The Ohio Valley Region was known as the American frontier during the time period from 1760 to
1813. The white expansion into the Ohio Valley Region brought about the decline and the eventual
dissolution of the Native American way of life. The struggles of the French and English in the north
and the westward push of American settlers in the south were met with unified pro nativist resistance.
The individual struggles of three men characterize the turmoil between whites and Native Americans.

In turn, the French protected the Indians and supplied them with guns, gunpowder, ammunition for
hunting, and with provisions during harsh winters (Hough, xii). This European influence had radically
changed the lives of the Great Lakes tribes. By the time of Pontiac s boyhood, the stone and bone tools
of his people had been replaced by steel axes, knives, and traps (Hough, viii).
In the 1740s, commercial competition between France and Great Britain had intensified, and war
broke out in 1744. Ottawa warriors fought on the side of the French, as they did in all four major wars
from 1689 1763 (Eckert, 127).
British forces under British Commander in chief Sir Jeffrey Amherst swept through the Great Lakes
region, seizing control of most of the French forts by 1760. Amherst was well known to be arrogant
and contemptuous of the Indians. He insisted that the good behavior of the natives should be bought
with fear.
Under British occupation, unrest grew among the tribes (Hough,xii0). Pontiac called a meeting of
Ottawa, Chippewa, Huron, Potawatomi and other Lake tribes. Pontiac was a powerful orator as well as
warrior, and possessed a keen intelligence and skill as a strategist. He spoke to the council of the
wrongs they had suffered under the British and spoke of the Master of Life and his urging for the
Indians to turn back to their old ways. The warriors

Spotting A Liar Rhetorical Analysis
From viewing Pamela Meyers s video about how to spot liars, I have learned several tips that would
help me identify whether a person is lying or not lying. The two main ideas to spotting a liar is by
body language and by speech. These two points are essential in the way a person expresses
themselves, and how they speak for themselves. According to Pamela Meyers, everyone has lied once
before whether they were aware or unaware of it. I agree that every person has lied once in their life,
but I think it depends on the situation that they were put in, which may have been the cause that made
them commit a lie. This video relates to Business Communications since people are supposed to use a
clear sense of expression when communicating with other people through a professional business
situation.
In my opinion, people are easier to be profiled by their usage of vocals depending on their pitch,
grammar, speed, and clarity. Although body language provides visual aid, and a faster depiction of
identifying a person who may or may not be lying, it does not help all the time since body language
can be adjusted or it could be mistaken for a different meaning. In example of this, when I lie, the only
thing that is super obvious and a total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Canterbury Tales And Canterbury Tales Comparison
There are many literary elements to compare and contrast and different ways to do so. Chaucer s The
Wife of Bath s Tale from the Canterbury Tales and Beowulf (author unknown) have many things that
compare and contrast them. These two stories greatly compare. The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf
compare in many things, including imagery. There are many types of imagery seen throughout these
two poems, including visual imagery, sense imagery, and internal emotion imagery. In the story of The
Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath s Tale , the main character is a young knight who finds himself
raping a maiden who he just so happened to see near a river that day. He was going to be severely
punished for doing so. Already, this knight is seen as a bad and immature one. A knight s job during
this time period was to protect women and be chivalrous towards them, but he most definitely did not
show that trait throughout this story. His punishment was to find the answer to the queen s question
and if he couldn t he would be beheaded. Though he finds his answer, his attitude hardly changes. On
the night of his wedding, he tells his fiancé, the hag, that he doesn t want to marry her because she was
ugly and old, and he didn t want her.
Now ther ye saye that I am foul and old:
Thanne drede you nought to been a cokewold,

Generation View Of Reality Essay
Generation s View of Reality
Ben Stiller s 1994 film, Reality Bites, portrays the broad based struggles of
America s twentysomethings through a lighthearted glimpse into the lives of the movie s main
characters. Four friends, recently graduated from college, find themselves over educated and
under employed, a theme reiterated in the lives of many Generation Xers according to critic
Marilyn Gardner. She states, unemployment is higher for those under 25 then it is for the
workforce as a whole. (pg. 14, col. 1) Though Reality Bites bills itself as a comedy about love

Somewhere in the middle is Lalaina, a strange mixture of the two. She is the
valedictorian of her graduating class and is briefly employed by a television talk show as an
intern like production assistant until she is fired. In her valedictory address, she condemns the
BMW driving older generation of her parents who have left a lack of employment and natural
resources for her and her peers. Ironically, her graduation gift from her father is a used
BMW, which she concedes to drive until she can afford an inexpensive car of her own. Lalaina s
unemployment leads her to look for jobs where she is inexperienced (working as a news
journalist) to over qualified (flipping burgers at Burgerama), none of which are fruitful. Lalaina
then becomes a slacker herself by eating chips and chain smoking in her pajamas for hours a day.
The social issues facing the characters in the film are what differentiates Reality Bites
from other so called generational flicks such as Rebel Without a Cause, The Graduate, and The
Big Chill. In one of the opening montages, Vicky (Jeanne Garafalo) is shown

Wang Yangming says, When I see a child about to fall into a well [and have a feeling of

actually in the person of the child or is it in the innate knowledge of my mind? Perhaps one cannot

this involves principle. Is it in the person of the child or does it emanate from the innate knowledge in

Rising voices, this is one of the best documentaries that i ve ever watched. The Rising Voices

having known their language it makes me feel that even though I don t know my language right now,

regimes, authoritarian rule, and violent. Latin America has been considered an authoritarian region
with rulers either military or civilian directed. 3 governments are important to stabilize countries with
tension of nation crisis by eliminating the popular sector in the national politics. In Argentina the

towards the future. Similarities that regimes had were interest representation based on enforces limited
pluralism (Malloy, James M, pages 4). When viewing Latin Americas perspective on authoritarian rule
can be broken down into three levels (1) regime type authoritarianism running from old fashioned

Representative Democracy Essay
The political system I would use for Viva la Vida Islands, is the Representative Democracy. I think it s
better to have citizens vote on representatives to represent them, rather than gathering everybody to
vote on one law. It would be extremely difficult to gather people to have them vote. It s easier to have
citizens vote for a leader that has a voice for them and that they trust. Using this system would be
easier and fairer making everyone have a voice in one way or another.
It s certainly better than a communism or a dictatorship. I chose this route since, I disagree with
communism. I don t believe that everybody should have the same pay as each other. It s certainly
unfair for a McDonalds worker to earn the same pay as a builder. I believe the harder you work, the
more pay you should earn! I also, don t think it s right how the government chooses your job and
makes your life decisions. The government shouldn t be that nosey and plan your life out. I also, don t
think a dictatorship is right. It s not an ideally fair system and it s ruled over by one person! Citizens
don t have a voice and I don t think it s fair. Dictatorships always fail anyways since someone always
out rules them! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel it s better to have the government involved a little bit, but not a whole lot. I think it s better to
have supply and demand rather than the government controlling all the prices on items. It also,
supports the idea of the harder you work, the more money you earn. Also, there are hardly any
regulations, regulations would include taxes and the amount of money the workers are making for
doing their job. It also means more competition for

According to Table Saw Accident Stories and Statistics, 95% of the accidents are hand, arm, wrist and finger injuries and 5% are eye, face, trunk, and leg with persons between the ages of 15 64. Three important issues stand out when it come to the operation of table saws in the work place and in the home; safety, training and equipment conditions. Mr. John Schmidt was injured on June 7; he seriously injured his hand while pushing a large piece of wood through a table saw in the production shop at work. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The co worker claims that the foreman was informed by them about the safety guard. After examining, the safety report records state the opposite of what s in the written maintenance reports. If there was an issue with equipment the foreman is supposed to report it to the shop manager. Being that the safety guard was poorly designed is my main reason to why the company is at fault. The company put their employees at risk when they had knowledge of a safety issue. Training, secondly, is very important in the operation of table saws. While the safety guards are in place to protect the operator from hazards, it is still important that employers have trained their staff properly in operating equipment. Although the safety guard is intended to protect, it only protects in four directions: from above, from the rear and form the sides. This puts the operator hands inadvertently unprotected from the front of the saw. Training records need to be checked and if they are outdated enroll everyone, including the foreman and the shop managers up for training classes on equipment. Also the foreman and the shop managers need to go to manager training on how to handle workplace safety, employee situations and how to handle incidents reported to them. The present form of urban local government owes its genesis to the British rule. The initiation began with Samuel Laing, member of the Viceroy s Council, in the Budget Speech (1861 62) proposing that local services should be based on local resources. Lord Mayo s Resolution of 1870 introduced the concept of elected representatives in the municipalities. Lord Ripon is considered the founding father of urban local government as he implanted the concept of municipal authorities as units of self government. Development of local self government was one of the most striking features of administration of the Chola dynasty. The villages were given autonomy despite centralised system of governance. The Chola officials acted as advisors to village assemblies and there was no interference in daily administration. Thus there was continuity in village administration despite political upheavals. The general assembly was classified into tax paying villagers, Brahmins and traders. The central government officers examined accounts and supervised the work of the tax paying villagers. The village assemblies received gifts from rich men or from king for developmental activities. The feudatories were unable to impede in the village management. Their job was very clerical in the sense it was a mere collection of taxes and passing the share to the King. Elaborate and complicated mechanisms are the attributes of Chola administration. • 6. All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also know God s love through God s providential care and sustainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love. Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the ... If there was ever a wife more happy with her husband, the poet asks those women to compare themselves to her. She prizes her husband s love more than gold or the riches of the East. Rivers cannot quench her love and no love but his can ever satisfy her. There is no way she can ever repay him for his love. She believes they should love each other so much that when they die, their love will live on.Analysis: Anne Bradstreet s passionate love poems to her husband are some of the memorable in her canon because of the rawness of her expression. Men and women married young and were expected to remain together until they died. Puritan society did not tolerate divorce or adultery, although cases of both are certainly present in the historical record. Husbands and wives were supposed to adhere to the Biblical definition of marriage, which emphasized mutual love and respect. However, Puritans were not supposed to place all of their efforts in the relationship on Earth, but rather, to glorify God through their union. As the Poetry Foundation s page on Bradstreet explains, marriage was very important and the focus on family was crucial; however, the love between wife and husband was not supposed to distract from devotion to God. In Bradstreet s sonnets, her erotic attraction to her husband is central, and these poems are more secular than religious. Robert J. Richardson writes that the development in To My Dear and Loving Husband is clear and logical. Perseus As A Hero In Ancient Greek Culture Perseus an important character in Greek mythology because he shows many traits valued by Greek culture. What is exactly a hero in ancient Greek mythology and culture, and what role does fate play in myths? A hero is one extraordinary individual who represents the values greatly admired and sought after in ancient Greek society. Perseus showed the epic traits of ;family, perseverance, and couragesness. These were all very valued in ancient Greek culture. I will be; summarizing Perseus story, how he demonstrates the values of ancient Greek society, and explaining his cultural significance and how fate plays a big role. King Acrisius was king of Argos. He had an amazingly beautiful daughter, but he wished deeply for a son, so he prayed to the gods for them to give him a son. Apollo, the god of culture and prophecy, told him that he will never have a son in all his days and that the son of his daughter will slay him. Acrisius thinks of just killing his daughter,Danae, to prevent his prophecy, but fears of the punishment he will receive from the gods for this act, so he instead locks his daughter in an entirely bronze house and guards it closely. What he did not expect is for the king of the gods Zeus to come directly to his daughter and impregnate her. From this comes a son named Perseus. When Acrisius learns of his daughter s offspring, he puts both Perseus and Danae in a trunk and sets it off into the ocean. By luck or by the will of Zeus Perseus and Danae wash up onto a small island, where a kind hearted fisherman named Dictys takes in the two strangers. They live contently with Dictys until Dictys brother, King Polydectes, fell in love with Danae. He decides to construe a plot to get rid of her son,Perseus, so that he can have her. The plan he comes is to convince Perseus to go and slay the woman beast Medusa. He thinks this feat impossible by a mortal man, because any man who lays eyes upon her turns to stone. To aid him on his quest Hermes gives him a sword stronger than that of Medusa s scale. The One and Done rule was supposed to protect unprepared high school players from the difficult professional transition (Hughes 4). At 7:50 AM, the first wave of Japanese planes struck Pearl Harbour, bombarding airfields and battleships moored at the concrete quays. A second wave followed. Buck, the protagonist that metamorphosed from a companion to a pack dog serves as a metaphor for the impermanence of previous discipline. Also, the violent mood provoked by Buck s brutal instinctive behavior towards Spitz and other characters in the novel represents the power of the social and physical environment even against centuries of evolution and domestication. Perhaps the most radical of these can be found in Adam Ziolkowski s article Was Agrippa s Pantheon the Temple of Mars In Campo? ; which proposes, as the title suggests, that the original Pantheon was actually the Temple of Mars in campo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Ziolkowski notes that the Pantheon s southern neighbor, the Temple of Neptune, had a similar change in purpose as it became the Basilica of Neptune. Ziolkowski cites the calendar Fasti Palatii Urbinatis as the clue about the fate of these two buildings. Written around the same time as the Pantheon s construction, 13 BC, the Fasti Palatii Urbinatis does not make any mention of the temple of Mars and Neptune in Campo. However, this calendar only recorded temple that were aedes publicae, public temples. If the two in campo temples were not aedes publicae, this would explain their absence from this calendar. As to why the temple of Mar and Neptune in Campo were not made into public temples, Ziolkowski cites the the only war Augustus ever lost, that against Roman public opinion, which stubbornly refused to approve of monuments exalting victories won in civil war. The two temple in campo were constructed to honor Agrippa s (and Augustus s) land and sea victories, which would conflict with public opinion. By making them both private temple, Agrippa avoided the forces that apparently made Augustus pull down his first triumphal arch in the Forum. However not being aedes publicae, had a downside. Unlike a public temple whose character and patron deity or deities were fixed and known to everybody, and could not be changed except through the ritual of inauguration or rededication , a private temple dedication was subject to more flexibility. Ziolkowski suggests that the same dissenters could have sifted the changed the temples purposes after the reign of Emperor Augustus had ended. • 20. Plane Personal Narrative Ever since I was in junior high school I have been fixated on remote control planes and small unmanned aerial vehicles. The interest ironically started out from a toy helicopter crash combined with my curiosity, igniting a life long passion that eventually became my singular fixation and my ticket into the future. I built and crashed my first few planes before I joined a local group of hobbyists who were involved with the Tipton County Radio Control Club. They brought me to the top of an old, filled in landfill, now covered in lush, green grass that swayed with the slightest breeze blowing through the leaves of the surrounding trees. The designated flying field was at the highest point of the landfill. With well manicured fields still fresh with the scent of freshly mown grass, it stood in stark contrast ... After landing the plane, I began to talk to the other pilots and learned the meaning behind the often repeated phrase fly, crash, repeat. I built more planes and several months later started a new project, a small drone that could be flown for short distances using a camera. Its four powerful blades flew very well during the maiden flight until I had to repeat the phrase fly, crash, repeat in a disappointed voice as my battle with gravity and the ground was lost. I retrieved my craft and began the repair process, delaying the project by two more months. The next flight was more successful as it flew faster and responded quicker than before. • 21. The Effect Of Solar Flares On Our Future Essay Possibly the most dramatic event that occurs within our solar system is the solar flare. Scientists have spent much time studying this solar phenomenon attempting to learn how to predict them. This in turn has caused a significant increase in understanding the anatomy of solar flares to include the phases of flares and what they emit. Bringing things closer to Earth, the emissions of solar flares can have a significant impact in today s technological world. By far, the largest impact of solar flares to our technology is radio blackouts. The emissions of solar flares cause scintillation to occur in the ionosphere effectively blocking long distance transmissions. Solar flares are excessively bright and powerful and so deserve our attention not only from a scientific standpoint, but a societal standpoint as we rely more and more on our technology. Currently, scientists do not fully understand why and how solar flares occur. However, they have and continue to perform research into how the Sun creates solar flares. As scientists understood it now, solar flares occur in relation to the magnetic fields of the Sun.1 These magnetic fields continuously shift and twist around. They believe the movement of the magnetic fields causes a buildup of energy which results in a solar flare, but scientists have not been able to sufficiently explain how the mechanism works.2 Our lack of understanding solar flare physics makes predicting a solar flare tricky so we must rely on past observations. ... The poem discusses time and the seasonal nature of life. The poem can sometimes be thought of as symbolizing a life that has reached its peak and is drifting towards the sleep of winter. Many people approach the prospect of artificial intelligence with fear and caution but for intrepid computer scientists true artificial intelligence is the ultimate goal. People are reaching an ever more symbiotic relationship with computers and as the world moves forward the question must be posed: Will computer intelligence ever eclipse our own? Gordon E. • 32. Spotting A Liar Rhetorical Analysis From viewing Pamela Meyers s video about how to spot liars, I have learned several tips that would help me identify whether a person is lying or not lying. The two main ideas to spotting a liar is by body language and by speech. These two points are essential in the way a person expresses themselves, and how they speak for themselves. According to Pamela Meyers, everyone has lied once before whether they were aware or unaware of it. I agree that every person has lied once in their life, but I think it depends on the situation that they were put in, which may have been the cause that made them commit a lie. This video relates to Business Communications since people are supposed to use a clear sense of expression when communicating with other people through a professional business situation. In my opinion, people are easier to be profiled by their usage of vocals depending on their pitch, grammar, speed, and clarity. Although body language provides visual aid, and a faster depiction of identifying a person who may or may not be lying, it does not help all the time since body language can be adjusted or it could be mistaken for a different meaning. The entire documentary just shows that the people of South and North Dakota need to keep trying to learn their language so that it doesn t die. That the white men can get their way. In the documentary I liked many different components. I liked how they used elders to talk about the language, then the adults, than teens and lastly how they have the little kids talking in their Native language. When the elders are talking in their language, it makes not only me feel connected to the language but I think everyone in our class felt the same way. When the adults are talking about not having known their language it makes me feel that even though I don t know my language right now, but one day I will know my language. I will teach my kids the language that died in my family. Then I look at the teens who I just was not very long ago. I know exactly what they were feeling or how they ... • 47. Representative Democracy Essay The political system I would use for Viva la Vida Islands, is the Representative Democracy. I think it s better to have citizens vote on representatives to represent them, rather than gathering everybody to vote on one law. It would be extremely difficult to gather people to have them vote. It s easier to have citizens vote for a leader that has a voice for them and that they trust. Using this system would be easier and fairer making everyone have a voice in one way or another. It s certainly better than a communism or a dictatorship. I chose this route since, I disagree with communism. I don t believe that everybody should have the same pay as each other. It s certainly unfair for a McDonalds worker to earn the same pay as a builder. I believe the harder you work, the more pay you should earn! I also, don t think it s right how the government chooses your job and makes your life decisions. The government shouldn t be that nosey and plan your life out. I also, don t think a dictatorship is right. It s not an ideally fair system and it s ruled over by one person! Citizens don t have a voice and I don t think it s fair. Dictatorships always fail anyways since someone always out rules them! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
