vulnerability, loss of control, fear, shame, self blame, societal blame and stigma (Russell Davis,
2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter Hagene, 2014). This research proposal intends to explore

racist to Asians in a new way: stereotyping. Hello, I m Dexter Chen, and today I will be discussing
why you shouldn t stereotypeAsians because stereotypes aren t true, are extremely discouraging,
and because stereotyping is offensive in general. Before we get into this topic, let me explain what
stereotyping is. Stereotyping is judging a group, religion, ethnicity, or even gender, although these
stereotypes might not reflect on reality. This is caused by social media, the human tendency to
reduce complex things to simple things, and prejudice. You might be thinking to yourself: Gee, how
is stereotyping offensive? It s just a playful way of describing someone! If you are thinking that
doubtful thought, then pay attention, because I will show you why you shouldn t stereotype
anyone, especially Asians. First things first: Stereotypes are usually untrue. An average Asian
Americanstereotype would be nerdy, introverted, and smart. That stereotype isn t even close to
true. Imagine 4.4 billion people all being nerdy, smart, and introverted. That s literally not possible.

Is Seoul an attractive city for tourists? Seeing a nation s entire national history in a short time is
really difficult for tourists, because the national history is normally over 3000 years like South
Korea. However, Seoul has a great benefit in this sense. For instance, Seoul is only 605.28 km2,
which makes it one of the smallest cities among the major metropolises in the world, allowing
tourists to see most of the national history of South Korea in a single location. Only this advantage

Koryo dynasty. Hence, after the invasion of Koryo by Khitan, the Mongols invaded Koryo in

from 1231 to 1259 AD. These invasions were tremendously ruinous and lead to the killing of
many civilians throughout the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the peasantry of Koryo suffered
much hardship. For instance, the Mongols burned everything such as houses of Koryo people,
the ripened grain fields. It caused the shortage of food supplies in Koryo, so the population had
to be declined and whole villages fell into ruin ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Moreover, the peasantries
and defenders of Koryo were cruelly slaughtered by their conquerors (Mongolians). The most
suffering period of Koryo people was when Charadai (the general of Mongol) invade the Korean
Peninsula in 1254. On this occasion it is said the corpses of the dead were too many to be counted
and the entire region where the Mongols passed was reduced to ashes ( The Koryo Dynasty. ).
However, the government on Kanghwa did not protect the poor peasantry of Koryo, while they
only protected themselves. This miserable situation of Koryo people not only bred hostility toward
their government, but also dampened their desire to fight against the Mongols. This is the
