Beowulf Evil Vs Evil Essay
Throughout history we have seen different kind of battles and duels, but all of this confrontations have
always represented the good vs. the evil. There has been demons, monster, and even the mind of a
human itself, but good has always found a way to keep the world balanced. There has always been
different ways in which evil has been presented, but I believe that the most awful and dreadful one is
the devil. The devil controls every other dreadful creature in the world, he is the reason why evil
exists. Even though we always picture monster and demons as the representation of evil, humans can
also be evil, and we can be even worse. Human beings have a certain ability to hurt other people
psychologically, and it can be even more painful than hurting someone physically. We tend to make
people feel less, excluded and small, so we can have an advantage over them. This is the same exact
methodology for monsters and demons, the only difference is that they do it physically. Movies,
theatre, books and comic have always presented evil as gigantic and dreadful creatures, that always try
to make humans, demigods, or even gods to feel small and impotent. But that is the thing about evil, it
is always beaten by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It presents an awful creature named Grendel, which is obviously the representation of evil. Beowulf
and Grendel have a duel, and at the end Beowulf win, because good always triumphs. In a film, I
would portray Grendel as a giant vampire, that has claws and horns. In that way Grendel would be
able to slaughter all the men he wants. This is a great story to represent the epic in it, and the global
controversy that has always been here, good vs. bad. At the end of the day, there will always be a good
side and a bad side in every situation, story, movie, or even lifestyle. You are able to choose whatever
you want, but make sure you make a good

Family Health History
Individuals that know and understand their family s health history are more prepared to change, adjust,
and plan strategies that reduce their risk of developing and susceptibility to genetic diseases and other
health ailments. I will reflect on the history, health problems, and risks of genetic diseases present for
each family member throughout three generations. Advancements in genetic scientific research may
predict an individual s susceptibility to diseases and health ailments and may encourage behavioral
changes to reduce this risk (Collins, Ryan, Truby, 2014, p. 480). Questions, interventions, answers,
and strategies will be presented throughout this paper to ensure a better understanding of health risks

Stereotypes In The Film Encounters, By Werner Herzog
Werner Herzog, a well known figure in the world of German cinematography, is accredited for his
creative use of local perspective, to show what he coins as ecstatic truth , as well as his focus on
people with unique dreams, careers, and outlooks. In his documentary Encounters, he explored the
population of the people working and living in Antarctica and tried to figure out why said people were
drawn to such a cold and desolate place. The film featured stock footage with no narration and one on
one interviews with repeated questions (Where are you from? Why are you here?). The documentary
itself began with an introduction about how the film wouldn t be about your typical fluffy penguins of
Antarctica, but rather the people there and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final few scenes of the film, Herzog and his crew were taken underground to explore tunnels
and caves with things that, when considering the location of Antarctica, shouldn t exist there. They
were shown a frozen riverfish, images of the green that once covered Antarctica, and flowers. These
are seen as things of the past and could be used as an example of how we, humans, are progressing
with a constantly ticking clock that will expire sooner or later to be taken over by something of the
future. Another interesting parallel that was drawn was between science and religion, which are two
things often kept separate. One particular example was when Herzog likened the silence of the divers
before they head into the water to the quiet of priests heading to mass. This contrast may have been
Herzog s way of further proving the uniqueness of the population occupying Antarctica or of showing
why the statement by William Sirsa that they re all at loose ends, and now (we re) here is completely

The Problem Of Evil, By Robert B. Evans
Author Bio
Jeremy A. Evans is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A M
University, a M.Div. in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a
Ph.D. from Texas A M University. Dr. Evans has published two main works through B H publishing
company, The Problem of Evil: The Challenge to Essential Christian Beliefs, and The Legitimacy of
Christian Moral Thought in the Marketplace of Ideas. Dr. Evans strives to accomplish two things in
his teaching and writings; one, to edify students by challenging them to engage their mind for Christ,
and two, provide the necessary tools for independent research ... Show more content on

Evans also looks to distinguish the difference between a defense and a theodicy. Evans purpose
introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own place within the discussion of the
problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently answers the problem of evil. The second chapter found
in The Problem of Evil, begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this chapter Evans breaks
down Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the logical arguments of J.L.
Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state that if God is all knowing, all
powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga
provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses
the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three evaluates the
evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s version of the evidential
problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the various ways that prominent
philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author
also states that anytime the problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In
chapter four the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of defeat,
conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act.

Narrative Essay On Grandpa s House
Against odds appearing as though they could never get conquered, I d managed to climb out of an
inescapable hole. Upon reaching the halfway point of a six week Summer 2012 crash course in
Intermediate Spanish, my grade stood at an awful 74% (or a solid C). A big opportunity for
redemption soon arrived in the form of an assignment to give a four to six minute presentation in
Spanish about someone who has affected my life in a profound and powerful way. Using notes taken
during a visit one weekend to Grandpa s house, I gave a speech Professor Almonte thought was bueno

Grandpa s dad and his friends fought in bars, saloons, gymnasiums, and other such places where there
were only thirty or forty people watching (think of the opening scene in the first Rocky film where
protagonist Rocky Balboa knocks out a used up journeyman known as Spider Rico). They would
stand toe to toe and have these slugfests, and people would pay twenty cents or whatever the hell it
was back then to see these fights. This is the way it was. We re talking about 1914, 1915 here. You
know, way back when. Over one hundred years ago. Rochester was a small town back then, and has
never had much boxing history attached to it. The only outstanding boxers ever to come out of
Rochester were Carmen Basilio (a two time world champion at welterweight and middleweight and
one of the few who beat the iconic Sugar Ray Robinson in his pro career; though he was born in

Honey Bees And Its Effect On The Agricultural Industry
Since the late 1900 s, honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing in unusually high rates across
the nation. The total number of these honey bee colonies has decreased from 5 million in the 1940s to
only 2.5 million colonies today. Even though the bee colonies have decreased, the need for pollinators,
such as bees, has increased dramatically. Declines in honey bee colony health were provoked further
in the 1980s with the arrival of new pathogens and pests. The arrival of Varroa and tracheal mites into
the United States during the 1990s created additional stress on the honey bee population. These
various mites attack both adult bees and the developing honey bee larvae and can transmit viruses.
Since honey bees are a critical link ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many theories about the cause of CCD, the majority of which are human caused. Some of
these theories include honey bee management practices, use of chemicals in bee colonies, chemical
toxins in the environment, genetically modified crops, and new pests and diseases. (Ellis) The
Agricultural Research Service ARS has been working on finding definite causes for CCD along with
aiming to enhance honey bee health as well as studying many bee diseases and parasites.
(Ars.usda.gov)
Honey bee management practices are very important in keeping the overall health and population of
the honeybees stable, along with preventing the gene pool from becoming too similar.Beekeepers not
taking proper care of the genetic biodiversity of the hives has been thought to contribute to CCD. A
lack of genetic biodiversity can make bees increasingly susceptible to any pest/disease that invades a
colony. Noncompliance with all homeowner association, and or federal ordinances, regulations, and
laws pertaining to beekeeping, has a large potential to affect the overall honeybee population. (Ellis)
Beekeepers often use chemicals within bee colonies in order to control diseases that the honeybees are
exposed to. Although helpful, recent studies have shown that the use of common agricultural
chemicals, also used by beekeepers, such as fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and miticides can
compromise the bees immune systems making it harder for

John Winthrop A Model Of Christian Charity
John Winthrop, was the leader of the second Puritan group to enter the New World, called the
Massachusetts Bay Colony. This group of Puritans had a much different goal than their Separatists
Puritan counterparts, their objective being to go abroad and set up a superior Church, that the Church
of England could then model its self after. Therefore, Winthrop gave a sermon before they reached
their new homeland that would govern how everyone should treat one another for the sake of their
goal and for the successfulness of the community itself. This sermon was called A Model of Christian

Censorship Pros And Cons
Many people think censorship will benefit the society because it can remove the bad things from our
society. However, there are some censorships that did not bring any benefit, but damage to people in
the society. In Letter to the Editor of the Charleston Gazette a teacher asked to defend for his teaching
book; because the book involve with violence. Also, two novels that were written by Pat Conroy were
censored because they involve violence. In Stutterer Speaks Up in Class; His Professor Says Keep

Piave s Tone In Act I Of Rigoletto
This vulnerable tone in Act II comes as a surprise from the playboy character we see in Act I. In Act I
of Rigoletto, Piave emphasizes an apathetic tone in order to reveal the sameness of all women, giving
them lesser value than men. As Borsa and the Duke discuss Ceprano s wife, the Duke declares in his
first aria that this woman or that is the same as the many others [he] see[s] around [him] (I.1). The
author uses this language of commonality with words like same and many in order to help the
audience understand the nonchalant tone. Piave reveals that the Duke thinks of women as disposable
objects. This direct contradiction from his caring spirit toward Gilda in Act II to his apathetic tone in
Act I reveals a huge shift in the tone. The Duke makes a huge generalization about an entire gender

This generalization erases the identity of all women. He sees women as physically attractive but he
does not see them as continuously captivating. Toward the middle of the aria, the Duke emphasizes the
sameness of women saying, If today this woman pleases me, perhaps tomorrow it will be another
(I.1). The general, unspecific terms the Duke gives in this sentence structure such as this woman and
another reveals a calm, indifferent tone. The Duke does not name a specific woman or even a name
eliminating their unique qualities. Piave depicts women as disposable and easily replaceable in the
Duke s eyes. In other words, they are attractive and entertaining for a moment but, after a little while
they cease to be useful. Lastly, at the end of the aria, the Duke emphasizes the unimportance of
women declaring that There is no love, if there is no freedom. He deride[s] the jealous fury of
husbands, and the ravings of lovers (I.1). To consolidate his point, the Duke, in a logical manner,
explains that love is freedom and he has no desire to be bound to a specific woman. He ridicules men
who become jealous and try to restrain him from being with their

Essay On Political Power In The 17th Century
Despite their growth of political power during the 16th century, Spain s political situation in the 17th
century is often seen as a time of decline . Decentralized political power and ineffective taxation were
of the many reasons for the struggles faced by the Spanish Monarchy as well as the progression of
weak kings followed by power struggles. Before Spain started turning downward, they were not only a
European, but global power. This began with the marriage (1469) of queen Isabel of Castile (1474
1504) and king Ferdinand of Aragon (1479 1516), whose realm included Aragon proper, Valencia and
Catalonia . Spain became united and brought together separate territories and they were able to
extended their authority to North Africa and Italy. The Spanish crown ruled an empire that included
modern Portugal (to 1640) and Belgium, much of the Italian peninsula, Mexico, and large portions of
South America and the Caribbean . Spain was the leader and power during the late 16th century, but
even the most powerful and successful leaders have their downfall. During the 17th century, Spain
was faced with many economic issues which aided in their decline. Spain faced incessant piracy

has been greatly challenged by many. What is clear however is that a once global ruler was diminished

Medical Detoxification In Obama Care
There has been an expectation of society that substance abuse treatment should eliminate alcohol and
illicit drug use while improving individual health and social functioning as to reduce the public safety
threat. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 also known as Obama Care was created with intentions of
expanding the availability of health insurance. In 2011 the President s National Drug Control Strategy
requested investments in screening, intervention and referral to treatment, and expanded the Access to
Recovery voucher program. These initiatives are a start towards total care for alcohol and substance
abuse patients, however from our study we have found that treatment may be best when considered as
a long term possibly life resource for these individuals to become successfully sober and healthy. One
of the initial processes of treatment includes that of medical detoxification. Detoxification, is defined
at the period of time a client is withdrawing from AOD (141). This detox is necessary in regards to

The three main key events that are included in the novel include the crucial reasoning to why Malcolm
expressed himself the way he did. The events that distinguished Malcolm s character were racial

Ruth Handler created Barbie, after noticing her daughter playing with paper dolls and she was playing
the role of a mother, as most women were expected to be. The basic standard for women were to be a
housewife, and most young girl s toys were children or infants. Ms. Handler wanted to influence
young girls to be anything they wanted. Barbie s purpose was to be an adult to further portray the
young girl s dreams, which is why she specifically sought out an adult woman to depict her doll, this
way when young girls play pretend they would seek a better future outside of motherhood.
Both Malcolm x and Barbie received a great deal of criticism before becoming famous and influential,

Is the Emphasis on a Color-Blind Society an Answer to...
Is the emphasis on a Color Blind Society an Answer to Racism?
Racism is a word that sparks a nerve in many individuals today. As hard as it is to believe, racism is
still a big factor in what we as a society know as a unified America. Although, it is not as obvious as it
was in the past, it still goes on, just in ways that are less noticeable. We ask the question, is the
emphasis on a color blind society an answer to racism. Ward Connerly claims it is a way to stop the
segregation and make America a whole as it has been striving to be for the longest. Eduardo Bonilla
Silva believes color blind racism is the new racial ideology and still brings about racial inequality. As
the solution to the question progresses, we ask ourselves, will a ... Show more content on

He is the founder of the American Civil Rights Institute and an outspoken supporter of equal
opportunities for all Americans. He expressed his views on racism by discussing an encounter he had
with a woman. While explaining his desire to succeed at having a color blind government, the woman
commented by replying what he was doing was going to be best for his people. Although, she may not
have realized her remark offended him, situations similar to that occur all the time especially with
blacks and minorities. Persons may do it without the intention to insult, but that just proves that
everyone is viewed more so by color than by characteristics and personality. Many minorities will
always be judged by their color because whites believe that they will never have higher power. Even
though Ward Connerly went through rough obstacles growing up involving race, rather than focusing
on the bad experiences he had, he claimed that if you take people at face value and give them an
opportunity, race is irrelevant. He supports the emphasis on a color blind society so people won t use
discrimination based on the color of one s skin. He used examples such as classifications and how
there was no need to classify people by race. After the Civil War, with having separation for
bathrooms, poll taxes and water fountains, distinguishing differences between people should have
been stopped. He decided to place the Racial Privacy

The Importance Of The First Language Acquisition
During the first two or three years of development, a child requires interaction with other language
users in order to bring the general language capacity into contact with a particular language such as
English. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010)
It is very important for a child to hear a certain language and to interact with others who are using this
certain language in order to produce the language because a child is acquiring the language from his
environment as it is not genetically inherited. Hearing language sounds is not enough to acquire a
language, but interacting with others who are using this language is a crucial requirement for the first
language acquisition.
So, in order to speak a language, a child must be able to hear that language being used. (Yule, The
Study of Language, 2010)
A child who is doing so must be physically capable of hearing a language hearing sense and producing
sounds. Deaf infants stop making cooing and babbling noises after six months unlike the normal
hearing infants who are making these noises during their first year.
Under normal circumstances, human infants are certainly helped in their language acquisition by the
typical behavior of older children and adults in the home environment who provide language samples,
or input, for the child. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010)
Acquiring a language should be by the help of others in a child`s environment like his mother, father
and grandparents who are using simplified

Reserve and National Guard members, who report combat exposure, were more likely to experience
new onset heavy drinking, binge drinking, and alcohol related problems, thereby greatly increasing
their risk for suicidal behaviors (Frueh Smith, 2012). McCarl (2013) states that redeployment and
multiple deployments can further compound a service member s already fragile state of mind if sent
back into combat without fully recovering from the physical and mental wounds of the previous
deployment (p. 410). Veterans who have reported killing in war had twice the odds of suicidal ideation
(Maguen et al, 2015). In a study performed with Vietnam veterans, sixteen of nineteen suicide
attempters (82%) had felt out of control as a result of excessive fear or rage during their tours of duty,
including situations in which their anger led to their killing noncombatant civilians (Hendin, 2014, p.
584).
Prevention and Intervention Strategies Suicide among veterans is a national concern and suicide
prevention is a priority for the VHA. In concern for the health and well being of military service
members and veterans, congress has mandated implementation of a comprehensive VHA suicide
prevention program. The VHA is the only large health care organization to assess suicide mortality
among its entire patient population (McCarthy et al, 2009). VA and Mental Health Programs.

Analysis Of Disney Company s Recreation Of Public Domain...
Once upon a time there were gripping tales shared between generation to generation and continuously
passed down. The listener s focus was on the story s message and not its possible profit allowed those
listeners to live happily ever after. Storytelling began long ago traditionally told orally before there
was a shift to written stories and eventually as technology developed became a digital market. Some
of the most famous digitalized tales are fairy tales. Previous to digital development, copyright laws on
fairy tales were slim because there was less concern over copying. This is also how the story s focus
was more on the message and its creative development than the potential profit. The Walt Disney
company s recreation of public domain fairy tales demonstraights how copyright laws have hindered
artistic creativitity within America.
The Walt Disney company, is a beloved as well as infamous company worldwide also notoriously
known for their strict copyright laws. Original American copyright laws stated artistic works were
protected for 28 years and these laws were eventfully extended to a 56 year time frame. The term
continues to increase with the present law set at 75 years. Large companies like Disney continue to
fight for stricter and longer laws because of the revenue they will continue to bring it. (Washington
post). One apparent problem from the extensions is public lacks the ability to build on Disney stories
since they are not in public domain. In the 1997 report

Implementing Radio in Somalia Essay
Implementing Radio in Somalia
Implementation of radio technology in helping underdeveloped countries is a cheap and effective
solution in spreading education, health information, and news about local and foreign affairs. Radio
can reach the most people (approximately an area of a 20 km radius) with the least amount of money,
energy and effort. In comparison to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Internet
connectivity, radio management is easily teachable and requires less man hours in training; Internet
technology on the other hand, while perhaps more sophisticated, requires longer training hours and
more expensive equipment. The sophistication of Internet is too advanced for some of the more rural
areas of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Success of Radio Technology around the World
Radio has been used successfully around the world to further education and promote health practices
as well as increase knowledge of local and foreign affairs to local villagers of undeveloped countries.
Education:
Villages and communities in far removed or mountainous regions of countries lack the human and
capital resources that are needed in order to initiate and sustain educational projects; furthermore, the
cost of supplying adequate teachers, sufficient materials, and proper supervision to each community in
need is difficult for many countries to support. However, access to basic skills and literacy education
programs are crucial for improvements in the overall health, environment, and economic status of the
communities and people of those areas. This catch 22 disallows poor countries to grow; lack of
resources and education keep these areas at a low status while rich countries continue to grow and get
richer (once again, following the Gap hypothesis).
RADECO (Interactive Radio Instruction) is an example of radio as a tool to further education.
RADECO provides a valuable education alternative to children not able to attend formal schools.
Education through radio helps local children (as well as adults) who don t have the time to go to
school because they need to work in the fields during the day. RADECO also alleviates costs for

Recognizing that help is need is the first step toward sobriety. Once addicts realize that they need help,
the next challenge is finding a New Haven heroin rehab center that suits their personal needs. While
there are many treatment centers available, addicts and alcoholics need to find the right one if they
want to recover. From looking for family programs to dual diagnosis treatment, the right treatment
center will offer individualized treatment options that can be modified for each patient.

In addition, addicts will want to consider programs that have residential and outpatient options. With
an inpatient, residential program, individuals live at the site and are monitored continuously.
Individuals who still have to fulfill other commitments may want to enroll in outpatient treatment
programs since these allow patients to continue to work while they receive treatment.
Dealing With New Haven s Heroin Crisis
Currently, New Haven has a spiraling drug problem. In 2015, there were 415 heroin overdoses in the
state that resulted in death. To handle this problem, effective treatment facilities and rehabilitation
options must be made available to addicts. While there are some drug treatment facilities in the state,
the immensity of the drug problem means that many residents will have to go elsewhere to get
treatment.
For addicts who are ready to become sober, it is not always possible to find a New Haven heroin rehab
center with space available. To attain the best quality of care, these individuals may have to go out of
the state to seek help. Addicts who need help can begin the recovery process today through a

Importance Of The Sixth Amendment
In 1787 the United States constitution was written, two years later the Bill of Rights was added. The
Bill of Rights consists of ten amendments which were designed based on the American ideals to
ensure that the federal government is not too powerful, and that it would protect the rights of the
people or of the state. One of the most important amendments in the Bill of Rights is the sixth
amendment, which gives the people the right to enjoy a speedy trial when accused, and it allows the
accused person to know the cause of the accusation and who his accuser is. It clearly represents some
of the American ideals such as: democracy, opportunity, and equality. The sixth amendment provides
more requirements for a fair trial in criminal cases. First, the accused person has the right to enjoy a
speedy trial, but that does not mean that the trial will be done within two days, but rather means that,
The country or state cannot make the person sit in jail for a very long time, for example 5 years, while
they wait for their trial. This would be very unfair to anyone who is not guilty. ; that was mentioned in
the website Laws.com. This means that a person cannot wait in jail for committing a crime the rest of
his life before proven guilty, that would go against his right of pursuing happiness. The sixth
amendment also permits the accused person to know the cause of the accusation and know his accuser,
and that leads to the second ideal which is an opportunity or a chance to

Why Did Texas Fight In The Civil War Essay
The Civil War: Why Did Texas Fight? What do you know about the civil war? The Civil War is very
significant in Texan history. Between the years of 1861 and 1865, the citizens of The United States
turn against each other. The Civil War was fought between the Union states (northern states) and the
Confederacy states (southern states).Texas fought in the Civil War to protect state rights, love of texas,
and they fought to keep slavery. One of the many reasons Texas fought in the Civil War was because
of civil rights. States rights is the right of a state to make decisions on items covered by the
constitution. The theory of our (national) government as an association of sovereignties (independent
states) and not a blended mass of people in one social compact. (Document C) This text evidence

Dead Man
Dead Man, written and directed by Jim Jarmusch in 1995, follows the story of an unlucky accountant
named William Blake, played by Johnny Depp. After moving out West to start a new life, William
Blake is on the run after murdering the son a wealthy business owner. Accompanied by an unlikely
friend, a Native American man named Nobody, played by Garry Farmer, William Blake transforms his
life into that of a Dead Man .
In the beginning scenes of the film, William Blake watches a women be thrown from the porch of the
local pub into the mud beneath. He quickly runs to the woman s aid and the two become
acquaintances. A few moments later, William Blake enters Ms. Thel Russel s bedroom. The two seem
to have a connection. The audience is captivated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
William being placed on the right side indicates that he is insignificant in this scene. Though he is the
main character of the film, in this scene he has no control, no power. This insignificance suggests that
he has no control or power over the events in the near future that will forever change his life.
Every aspect of the scene sets the audience up to expect a regular Western romance. The social, and
soon to be intimate, placement of the characters to the mysterious and glowing lighting, the characters
were always meant to spend the night together. The genius set up of the audience not only creates a
connection to the victim William Blake, but also generates a huge surprise when Thel s ex fiancé
enters the room and shoots the audience s beloved Thel. The Thel in which the audience thought
would turn William Blake s failure of a journey West into something meaningful. This scene, thought
presents the audience with false hope, is imperative to the overall film. Without the connection
between Thel and William, narrative would have been stopped dead in its

Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill

PHIL 231: Ethics

Essay 2
Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality
The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of
philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some similar
outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected this
important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant,
and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I personally
prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and contrasting the
positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons why I have chosen
John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in morality.
Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from
384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle outlines the thoughts of the
general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical premises.
But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle introduces
the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the roles of
different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures and soul
pleasures.

Paul Revere s Ride
On the eve of the Revolutionary war, April 18th, 1775, a well known man, Paul Revere, rode through
every Middlesex village and farm to warn the colonists of a rumoured British march towards Concord,
in which they were going to seize ammunition. This warning resulted in militia waking up and
grabbing weapons to fend off the British and help lead to a famous victory. Many people refer this
heroic action as the midnight ride of Paul Revere, but Revere was not the only heroic man on that
historical night according to The Other Riders. There were two other riders: Samuel Prescott and
William Dawes. They both played very important roles in alerting Boston of the impending attacks
that were about to take place.
The poem, Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow shows a clear bias statement towards
Paul Revere. Longfellow states ..he came to the bridge in Concord town. However, in The Other
Riders it says, ...Dawes and Revere set out for Concord together, joined by Dr. Samuel Prescott and It
was Prescott who warned the town of Concord... There was no mention of the other men in the ...

The other rider, Samuel Prescott, played a very important role in warning people as well. According to
the article, as I stated before, It was Prescott who warned the town of Concord of the impending
British march. This is important because the Redcoats were planning on seizing the colonists
ammunition in Concord, that is a really big deal. If it weren t for him, who knows if Paul could have
made all of the stops and reach Concord in time. Over the years many people have wondered and
questioned why only Revere was mentioned and honored for his heroism. The text in The Other
Riders states, But why should my name be quite forgot, Who rode as boldly and well... This is
significant because it demonstrates how the other messengers did just as much as Paul Revere and that
they deserve equal recognition for what they

Market Segmentation In Canada
(B) We used a combination of three market segmentation variables using two different approaches. We
chose these variables because we feel that they are the best choices for differentiating between market
segments. The first thing we did was use the Geographic approach to limit our scope. Using the
Regional variable to divide Canada into provinces, we decided to limit our market to that of
Newfoundland and Labrador; as a new start up, it makes sense to begin small with a familiar market
with the potential for growth. Then, using Market Density, we determined that since almost 40% of
Newfoundland and Labrador s population lives in St. John s (196,965 out of 514,540), we would limit
our market to that of the Avalon Peninsula, with potential for ... Show more content on

  • 2. Beowulf Evil Vs Evil Essay Throughout history we have seen different kind of battles and duels, but all of this confrontations have always represented the good vs. the evil. There has been demons, monster, and even the mind of a human itself, but good has always found a way to keep the world balanced. There has always been different ways in which evil has been presented, but I believe that the most awful and dreadful one is the devil. The devil controls every other dreadful creature in the world, he is the reason why evil exists. Even though we always picture monster and demons as the representation of evil, humans can also be evil, and we can be even worse. Human beings have a certain ability to hurt other people psychologically, and it can be even more painful than hurting someone physically. We tend to make people feel less, excluded and small, so we can have an advantage over them. This is the same exact methodology for monsters and demons, the only difference is that they do it physically. Movies, theatre, books and comic have always presented evil as gigantic and dreadful creatures, that always try to make humans, demigods, or even gods to feel small and impotent. But that is the thing about evil, it is always beaten by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It presents an awful creature named Grendel, which is obviously the representation of evil. Beowulf and Grendel have a duel, and at the end Beowulf win, because good always triumphs. In a film, I would portray Grendel as a giant vampire, that has claws and horns. In that way Grendel would be able to slaughter all the men he wants. This is a great story to represent the epic in it, and the global controversy that has always been here, good vs. bad. At the end of the day, there will always be a good side and a bad side in every situation, story, movie, or even lifestyle. You are able to choose whatever you want, but make sure you make a good ... I will reflect on the history, health problems, and risks of genetic diseases present for each family member throughout three generations. Advancements in genetic scientific research may predict an individual s susceptibility to diseases and health ailments and may encourage behavioral changes to reduce this risk (Collins, Ryan, Truby, 2014, p. 480). • 4. Stereotypes In The Film Encounters, By Werner Herzog Werner Herzog, a well known figure in the world of German cinematography, is accredited for his creative use of local perspective, to show what he coins as ecstatic truth , as well as his focus on people with unique dreams, careers, and outlooks. In his documentary Encounters, he explored the population of the people working and living in Antarctica and tried to figure out why said people were drawn to such a cold and desolate place. The film featured stock footage with no narration and one on one interviews with repeated questions (Where are you from? Why are you here?). The documentary itself began with an introduction about how the film wouldn t be about your typical fluffy penguins of Antarctica, but rather the people there and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final few scenes of the film, Herzog and his crew were taken underground to explore tunnels and caves with things that, when considering the location of Antarctica, shouldn t exist there. They were shown a frozen riverfish, images of the green that once covered Antarctica, and flowers. These are seen as things of the past and could be used as an example of how we, humans, are progressing with a constantly ticking clock that will expire sooner or later to be taken over by something of the future. Another interesting parallel that was drawn was between science and religion, which are two things often kept separate. One particular example was when Herzog likened the silence of the divers before they head into the water to the quiet of priests heading to mass. This contrast may have been Herzog s way of further proving the uniqueness of the population occupying Antarctica or of showing why the statement by William Sirsa that they re all at loose ends, and now (we re) here is completely ... • 5. The Problem Of Evil, By Robert B. Evans Author Bio Jeremy A. Evans is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A M University, a M.Div. in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Texas A M University. Dr. Evans has published two main works through B H publishing company, The Problem of Evil: The Challenge to Essential Christian Beliefs, and The Legitimacy of Christian Moral Thought in the Marketplace of Ideas. Dr. Evans strives to accomplish two things in his teaching and writings; one, to edify students by challenging them to engage their mind for Christ, and two, provide the necessary tools for independent research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evans also looks to distinguish the difference between a defense and a theodicy. Evans purpose introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own place within the discussion of the problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently answers the problem of evil. The second chapter found in The Problem of Evil, begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this chapter Evans breaks down Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the logical arguments of J.L. Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state that if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three evaluates the evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s version of the evidential problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the various ways that prominent philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author also states that anytime the problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In chapter four the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of defeat, conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon reaching the halfway point of a six week Summer 2012 crash course in Intermediate Spanish, my grade stood at an awful 74% (or a solid C). A big opportunity for redemption soon arrived in the form of an assignment to give a four to six minute presentation in Spanish about someone who has affected my life in a profound and powerful way. Grandpa s dad and his friends fought in bars, saloons, gymnasiums, and other such places where there were only thirty or forty people watching (think of the opening scene in the first Rocky film where protagonist Rocky Balboa knocks out a used up journeyman known as Spider Rico). They would stand toe to toe and have these slugfests, and people would pay twenty cents or whatever the hell it was back then to see these fights. This is the way it was. We re talking about 1914, 1915 here. You know, way back when. Over one hundred years ago. Rochester was a small town back then, and has never had much boxing history attached to it. The only outstanding boxers ever to come out of Rochester were Carmen Basilio (a two time world champion at welterweight and middleweight and one of the few who beat the iconic Sugar Ray Robinson in his pro career; though he was born in Canastota, he spent his entire life in Rochester), Willie Monroe, Jr. (a middleweight who challenged still unbeaten [as of July 2016] Gennady Golovkin for his unified 160 lb crown in May 2015), and Charles Murray (a former International Boxing Federation light welterweight title holder and the only legitimate champion boxer Rochester ever produced, though the distinction comes with an asterisk; Murray won the title after it had gotten vacated by the sensational Pernell Sweet Pea Whittaker, as opposed to taking it from him in the ... • 8. Honey Bees And Its Effect On The Agricultural Industry Since the late 1900 s, honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing in unusually high rates across the nation. The total number of these honey bee colonies has decreased from 5 million in the 1940s to only 2.5 million colonies today. Even though the bee colonies have decreased, the need for pollinators, such as bees, has increased dramatically. Declines in honey bee colony health were provoked further in the 1980s with the arrival of new pathogens and pests. The arrival of Varroa and tracheal mites into the United States during the 1990s created additional stress on the honey bee population. These various mites attack both adult bees and the developing honey bee larvae and can transmit viruses. Since honey bees are a critical link ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many theories about the cause of CCD, the majority of which are human caused. Some of these theories include honey bee management practices, use of chemicals in bee colonies, chemical toxins in the environment, genetically modified crops, and new pests and diseases. (Ellis) The Agricultural Research Service ARS has been working on finding definite causes for CCD along with aiming to enhance honey bee health as well as studying many bee diseases and parasites. (Ars.usda.gov) Honey bee management practices are very important in keeping the overall health and population of the honeybees stable, along with preventing the gene pool from becoming too similar.Beekeepers not taking proper care of the genetic biodiversity of the hives has been thought to contribute to CCD. A lack of genetic biodiversity can make bees increasingly susceptible to any pest/disease that invades a colony. Noncompliance with all homeowner association, and or federal ordinances, regulations, and laws pertaining to beekeeping, has a large potential to affect the overall honeybee population. (Ellis) Beekeepers often use chemicals within bee colonies in order to control diseases that the honeybees are exposed to. Although helpful, recent studies have shown that the use of common agricultural chemicals, also used by beekeepers, such as fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and miticides can compromise the bees immune systems making it harder for ... This group of Puritans had a much different goal than their Separatists Puritan counterparts, their objective being to go abroad and set up a superior Church, that the Church of England could then model its self after. Therefore, Winthrop gave a sermon before they reached their new homeland that would govern how everyone should treat one another for the sake of their goal and for the successfulness of the community itself. • 11. Piave s Tone In Act I Of Rigoletto This vulnerable tone in Act II comes as a surprise from the playboy character we see in Act I. In Act I of Rigoletto, Piave emphasizes an apathetic tone in order to reveal the sameness of all women, giving them lesser value than men. As Borsa and the Duke discuss Ceprano s wife, the Duke declares in his first aria that this woman or that is the same as the many others [he] see[s] around [him] (I.1). The author uses this language of commonality with words like same and many in order to help the audience understand the nonchalant tone. The general, unspecific terms the Duke gives in this sentence structure such as this woman and another reveals a calm, indifferent tone. The Duke does not name a specific woman or even a name eliminating their unique qualities. Piave depicts women as disposable and easily replaceable in the Duke s eyes. In other words, they are attractive and entertaining for a moment but, after a little while they cease to be useful. Lastly, at the end of the aria, the Duke emphasizes the unimportance of women declaring that There is no love, if there is no freedom. He deride[s] the jealous fury of husbands, and the ravings of lovers (I.1). • 12. Essay On Political Power In The 17th Century Despite their growth of political power during the 16th century, Spain s political situation in the 17th century is often seen as a time of decline . Decentralized political power and ineffective taxation were of the many reasons for the struggles faced by the Spanish Monarchy as well as the progression of weak kings followed by power struggles. Before Spain started turning downward, they were not only a European, but global power. This began with the marriage (1469) of queen Isabel of Castile (1474 1504) and king Ferdinand of Aragon (1479 1516), whose realm included Aragon proper, Valencia and Catalonia . Spain became united and brought together separate territories and they were able to extended their authority to North Africa and Italy. The Spanish crown ruled an empire that included modern Portugal (to 1640) and Belgium, much of the Italian peninsula, Mexico, and large portions of South America and the Caribbean . Spain was the leader and power during the late 16th century, but even the most powerful and successful leaders have their downfall. The Importance Of The First Language Acquisition During the first two or three years of development, a child requires interaction with other language users in order to bring the general language capacity into contact with a particular language such as English. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010) It is very important for a child to hear a certain language and to interact with others who are using this certain language in order to produce the language because a child is acquiring the language from his environment as it is not genetically inherited. Hearing language sounds is not enough to acquire a language, but interacting with others who are using this language is a crucial requirement for the first language acquisition. So, in order to speak a language, a child must be able to hear that language being used. Storytelling began long ago traditionally told orally before there was a shift to written stories and eventually as technology developed became a digital market. Some of the most famous digitalized tales are fairy tales. Previous to digital development, copyright laws on fairy tales were slim because there was less concern over copying. The Bill of Rights consists of ten amendments which were designed based on the American ideals to ensure that the federal government is not too powerful, and that it would protect the rights of the people or of the state. One of the most important amendments in the Bill of Rights is the sixth amendment, which gives the people the right to enjoy a speedy trial when accused, and it allows the accused person to know the cause of the accusation and who his accuser is. It clearly represents some of the American ideals such as: democracy, opportunity, and equality. The sixth amendment provides more requirements for a fair trial in criminal cases. First, the accused person has the right to enjoy a speedy trial, but that does not mean that the trial will be done within two days, but rather means that, The country or state cannot make the person sit in jail for a very long time, for example 5 years, while they wait for their trial. Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill Chelsea Kearney PHIL 231: Ethics 28 April 2015 Essay 2 Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some similar outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected this important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I personally prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and contrasting the positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons why I have chosen John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in morality. Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from 384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle outlines the thoughts of the general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical premises. But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle introduces the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the roles of different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures and soul pleasures. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
