Protecting Against Terrorist Attacks in Urban...
Introduction
Blast protection, until recently, has only needed to be considered when constructing underground
shelters and military bunkers. Currently, however, there is a need for urban buildings and similar
structures used consistently by the general public to withstand forces from nearby explosions. This
need is due to the recent climb in terrorist attacks in urban or crowded environments. These attacks
have used the lack of blast resistance in these buildings as a means for creating widespread havoc
through detonating an improvised explosive device (IED). These devices range from explosives
planted inside a structure to roadside or vehicular bombs. An urban environment causes even
relatively small explosions to be extremely potent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Structures that collapse in an urban environment result in casualties inside the building and also result
in collateral damage that may cause nearby structures to also collapse. This effect was seen in the
collapse of the World Trade Center in New York City, although this collapse was not a result of the
initial explosion. Had the towers not collapsed, it is estimated that close to half of the deaths could
have been prevented (Dwyer). It is therefore vitally important for buildings that suffer damage from
explosions to remain structurally stable for as long as

Observation Assignment at a Park Essay
Observation Assignment at a Park
Hayden Park was an interesting place for a Freeze Frame assignment. For those who have not heard of
a Freeze Frame, it is simply sitting in one spot for 15 to 20 minutes observing ones surroundings. So
to continue, at first glance, Hayden Park is a typical Valley of the Sun type park. Most of these typical
parks have grass, picnic tables, some trees, and usually some sort of sports availability such as a
basketball court or soccer field, or both. In addition, the parks also have pleasant surroundings. But
Hayden Park is located in South Phoenix, so automatically the typical standard for parks is altered.
The surroundings around Hayden Park are far from what most people would consider to ... Show more

There was one peculiar individual, a young Hispanic male, who I observed riding a bicycle in circles
around the only building in the park for approximately ten minutes. Nothing but circles, and then he
rode off down the road. There was another Hispanic male who was pushing a young child on a swing.
After a short time they left the park on foot. The last person I saw during the Freeze Frame, besides
the ice cream man who drove by and the trailer park resident who passed through the park and walked
on down the road, was a city worker who was doing routine maintenance in the park; checking
sprinklers, emptying garbage, and doing whatever in the building.
As far as structures go, there was the one small square one story building with graffiti and the brick
and cement graffiti riddled canopy structures that covered approximately ten picnic tables. Graffiti
was basically everywhere, yet I noticed that the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Saint of Mexico, painted on
the side of the building was untouched. Not even gang sign graffiti was anywhere near it. This in itself
shows respect; which makes me wonder why the youth and various residents of South Phoenix would
disrespect the rest of their neighborhood by polluting it in so many ways. Perhaps it is like Tricia Rose
stated, graffiti writers...claim turf and gain local status by developing new styles (1)

Research Paper On Dionyysus
Throughout Greek mythology, there are many great gods, goddesses and heroes. In Greek mythology
gods, goddesses and heroes often have suffered greatly but have achieved great tasks. Out of all the
great gods, goddesses and heroes, Dionysus is the greatest. Not Only did Dionysus save people like
Ariadne from the island of Naxos but he also created wine which is still one of the most popular
drinks today and is still often used to celebrate. Dionysus, or to the Romans, Bacchus, is a great god.
He is the god of wine, cheer, wild behavior, dancing, fertility, resurrection, drama, song, vegetation,
and all around jolly fellow. He was a very popular god because of his jolly disposition and carefree
attitude. His jolly disposition and carefree attitude which is mainly why he is the greatest god because

When Dionysus was grown , he did not join the other gods on Mount Olympus just yet, but set out on
a long journey, through all the countries of the world, teaching men and women everywhere how to
plant and tend to a grapevine, and how to press the juice from the ripe fruit, and make it into wine.
This is how the world learned the secrets of winemaking because Dionysus gave the world the gift of

Philip Augustus s Success Of The Angevin s Failure
Was Philip Augustus success linked to the Angevin s failure?
Philip Augustus undoubtedly faced weak Angevin opposition. However, it was the economic,
administrative and ideological changes that had taken place in Capetian France, which were the real
driving force behind Philip s success. John s comparative weakness and poor leadership credentials
made Capetian success even more likely, but did not make it inevitable. Philip had to harness the
French economy and win the support of his nobility. He was so successful in these endeavors that he
would have been a match for any 12th century European power.
The strength of the Capetian economy was one of the most important factors in Philip s success. Philip
personally was very interested in developing Paris. He built Les Halles as a market place, paved many
streets and invested heavily in infrastructure. The creation of a large market place and better
transportation meant that the economy picked up and Paris became wealthier. This meant that Philip
could call on Paris for financial support when he went on crusade. Assarting and the creation of
communes furthered strengthened Philip s economy. Between 1150 and 1180 the forests of Othen and
Orleans were cleared, and over 40 new villages created in their wake.1 As Hallam pointed out, the
king allowed these villages to be created and granted them special privileges in exchange for rent
being paid directly to the crown. This cut out the middle men (the local nobility) and greatly

Parenting Styles And Their Effects On Children
Parenting Styles and Their Effects on Children We must all realize the impact we have on the world
around us, whether it be an immediate effect or an action that releases a chain of events that is
unforeseeable. Taking responsibility for the activities we partake in during everyday life is crucial for
progressing in the future. This concept becomes much more actualized when we are raising our
children. Children are undoubtedly the future of today. How we raise them will immediately impact
what kind of lives they will have in the future, which in turn, will set up the world for years to come.
Parents tend to want a stable, and more successful life for their kids. With this in mind, parents should
practice reliable parenting styles to ensure their child s social, emotional, and intellectual development
isn t compromised. The way we raise our kids could lead to a multitude of psychological problems
and emotional imbalance if done improperly. Guardians should all engage in the best parenting styles
to make sure that our children and leading safe and happy lives that resonate with the future of this
world (Mgbemere and Telles, Types of Parenting Styles and How to Identify Yours ). The least
involved parenting style is one where the parent(s) aren t aware of what is going on in their child s
life. Respectively, this is called Uninvolved or Neglectful Parenting. In this parenting style, the
caretakers aren t active in their child s life, therefor missing opportunities to care

New Right Conservatism
n Australia the New Right refers to a late 1970s/1980s onward movement both within and outside of
the Liberal/National Coalition which advocates economically liberal and increased socially
conservative policies (as opposed to the old right which advocated economically conservative policies
and small l liberals with more socially liberal views). Unlike the United Kingdom and United States,
but like neighbouring New Zealand, the 1980s saw the Australian Labor Party initiate Third Way
economic reforms, which bear some familiarity to New Right ideology. After the John Howard

In New Zealand, as in Australia, it was the Labour Party that initially adopted New Right economic
policies, while also pursuing social liberal stances such as decriminalisation of male homosexuality,
pay equity for women and adopting a nuclear free policy. This meant temporary realignment within
New Zealand politics, as New Right middle class voters voted Labour at the New Zealand general
election, 1987 in approval of its economic policies. At first, Labour corporatised many former
government departments and state assets, then emulated the Conservative Thatcher administration and
privatised them altogether during Labour s second term of office. However, recession and privatisation
together led to increasing strains within the Labour Party, which led to schism, and the exit of Jim
Anderton and his NewLabour Party, which later formed part of the Alliance Party with the Greens and
other opponents of New Right economics.
However, dissent and schism were not to be limited to the Labour Party and Alliance Party

Deception And Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By...
In Shakespearean drama, a common motif is that of deception and disguise. There are two types of
deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of
trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result.
In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently.
Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they
love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro
being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the
play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the
play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society
is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. Shakespeare uses several
examples of deception in the play to develop the play s important themes. First of all, one example of
deception in the play is when Benedick is tricked into believing Beatrice loves him and Beatrice is
tricked into believing Benedick loves her. Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince have a conversation and
Hero and Margaret have another conversation in such manners that Benedick and Beatrice can
overhear them purposefully. In the conversation between Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince, Leonato

Essay On How To Grow Tomato From A Seedling
How to Grow Tomatoes from a Seedling
Growing tomatoes is a simple and rewarding task, and more people should be growing them. This
paper walks readers through the main steps for growing and maintaining patio tomatoes from a
seedling.
The first step in growing tomatoes is determining if you have the appropriate available space and
sunlight to grow them. All tomato varieties require full sunlight, which means at least six hours of
direct sun every day. If you have south facing windows or a patio or backyard that receives direct
sunlight, you should be able to grow tomatoes. Choose the location that receives the most sun.
Next, you need to find the right seedling. Growing tomatoes and other vegetables from seeds can be

The containers can be used in the house, on a patio, or anywhere in the backyard, and they are
portable. Containers also tend to better regulate moisture and drain excess water. Choose a container
that is at least 10 inches in diameter and at least 1 foot deep. This will provide sufficient room for root
development.
In addition to the container, you also need the appropriate soil mixture and draining mechanisms. For
the best drainage, fill the bottom of your container with 2 or 3 inches of gravel. On top of the gravel,
fill ¾ of the container with soil. Choose a well balanced organic soil. The three main ingredients you
will find described on soil bags are N P K that is, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Without going
into too much detail about the role of each element in plant growth, I will tell you that an average
vegetable will grow fine in a 10 5 5 mixture. This ratio, too, will be easy to find at your local nursery.
Once you have the gravel in the bottom of the container and the soil on top, you are ready to transplant
the tomato. Pick up the tomato in the plastic container it comes in from the nursery. Turn it upside
down, and holding the stem between your fingers, pat the bottom lightly several times, and the plant
should fall into your hand. Next, you should gently break up the root ball that formed in the nursery
container with your hands. Be gentle, but be sure to

The Value of Education Essay
The Value of Education
Learning and knowledge are highly prized in all societies, especially here in Ireland, where there is a
strong tradition of respect for education. The choices that individuals make when leaving school, in
particular whether to pursue higher education or not, are likely to have a long lasting effect on their
lifestyle. The main purposes for a University education involve: social, national and educational
purposes and for the individual personal purposes and moral development. These topics will be
addressed in the following paragraphs.

The advantage of widespread education is the cultivation of international skills and attitudes,
contributing to the values of university education.
This intermingling of cultures and social differences causes a change in the attitudes and outlooks of
society. The levelling up of living standards in our economy has created a greater sense of human
dignity and freedom replacing an earlier and traditional view of inferiority. Opportunities for
education, leading to promotion at work are richer and more varied. Universal education has enhanced
individuals view of the world and has created an awareness of the stream of events in other parts of
the world. Which up to 1900 was prerogative of perhaps one fifth of the population. (K.G. Collier,

Not only does this diversity benefit social purposes but it also has certain national purposes. National
reforms in higher education were a result of Europe s ability to collect information from these diverse
Universities, and adapt to beneficial procedures. (Robbins report: 41) Consequently this encouraged
efficiency throughout the education system, due to high levels of mobility between different European
countries, and high standards were therefore demanded. These mutual exchanges of solutions to
higher education problems benefit Europe as a community and benefit our Universities both

Photography Is Not Just About Taking Simple Photographs
In this generation people tend to take their photographs on their phones instead of hiring a
professional photographer to take them. Photography is not just about taking simple photographs.
Professional photographers need to understand the concept of what makes the best photographs.
Photographers must use lighting, different equipment, different types of photographs, and specific
subject matter to create unique photographs as well as how to finish and edit them. The beginning of
photography was in 1826, when Nicephore Niepce produced the first permanent photograph using a
camera obscura. Three years later in 1829, Louis Daguerre joined partnership with Nicephore Niepce (
Ted s Photographics The Fundamental Principles of Photography Explained. ). In 1839, years after the
death of Nicephore Niepce, Louis Daguerre became the first photographer to use silver iodide coated
plates and a small box to take a photograph (Careers in Focus 101). Motion photographs were made in
1877 using a series of still photographs to create the illusion of motion. In 1889, Thomas Edison
developed the first single unit motion picture camera; standards that are still used today (Careers in
Focus, 25). Many professional photographers use different type of equipment: cameras, lenses, and
accessories. Many photographers use different cameras and lenses depending on the type of
photograph they re going to take. Many photographers use the 35mm SLR (single lens reflect) camera.

suffering through an education crisis today. The current statistics show that the United States is falling
behind in education compared to other countries. The illiteracy rate is high, and the graduation rates

The United States also places 25th in math, 17th in science, and 14th in reading ( Best Education in

Mathematics and Science Study ( U.S. education spending tops Global List, 2013.) Sixty six percent
of all fourth graders are not reading at grade level (Reese, Fredrick 2014). Fourteen percent of the
population, or 32 million adults, cannot read. Nineteen percent of high school graduates cannot read.
In less developed countries like Chile, Brazil, and Latina, children are increasing in academics three
times faster than American Students ( Best Education in the World, 2012). The problem in the
education system lies within the public schools, because the majority of students attend public
schools. In fact, only ten percent of children attend private schools (Jennings, 2013). USA Today said
Students in a handful of big city school districts have a less than 50 50 chance of graduating from high
school with their peers, and a few cities graduate far fewer than half each spring... (Toppo, 2006).
With these statistics in education, many people wonder why the United States is lagging, but one

Why Good English Is Good For You
English is a complex language because it is the mixture of Latin and some other languages. Standard
English is what grammarians adopted a series of rules to make English correctly used. In Bill Bryson s
essay Good English and Bad , he used historical evidence to show readers how English rules are
defined and changed by grammarians. While in the article Why Good English is Good for You , John
Simon stresses how English users should use this language in a more proper way. Both of Bill Bryson
and John Simon suggest people should follow the English rules, but they ignore English are used
differently depends on who uses it, how people use it in distinct ways and when it is suitable for
people to follow these English rules. Standard English rules should be variable depends on who use it,
such as the different usage between babies and adults. In the article Why Good English is Good for
You , John Simon shows that Figure out is precisely what a listener or reader should not have to do
(Simon 532). In Simon s perspective, he believes that if people use correct grammars to write
sentences, then audiences would understand what message the writers are trying to convey. On the
other hand, Simon intends to emphasize how important the standard English rules for people,
especially when English users illustrate their point of view or arguments. However, standard English
rules should not apply to babies or little kids. When we are born, we don t know any words in English.

The Field Of Pharmacy Is A Growing Problem
The field of pharmacy is a growing, but at the same time stagnant. It is growing because it is changing
as the healthcare system is changing. After the changes in the healthcare system, the field has included
pharmaceutical care in its mission. As described in Communications Skills for Pharmacist book,
pharmaceutical care requires the pharmacist to take responsibility for preventing and solving drug
related problems and optimizing drug therapy (p.1, CP). On the other hand it is stagnant because the
mission is not being fulfilled. The traditional way of practicing, which is dispensing drugs only, still
persists.
The pharmacy is being practiced in an unethical way as the patient is told to sign the paper, without
being informed what rights the patient is losing. Presently, there is a need of pharmacists in the
healthcare system, since they have the knowledge of drug interaction. But there might be a reduction
in need because the healthcare wants something more than just dispensing medications. The need for
pharmacist will only be understood, when the people know what to expect from pharmacists. If the
patients understand that the pharmacist can provide them counseling, then they will approach the
pharmacist. Some pharmacists want to fulfill the pharmaceutical care mission, but the authority puts
restrictions and also the pharmacist is not compensated for the work. Consequently, as the authority is
not willing to cooperate, the improvement in the role is difficult.

The Little Shopgirls Go To The Movies By Sigfied Kracauer
The Little Shopgirls go to the movies is a text written by Sigfied Kracauer which criticises the plot
archetypes of films. He argues that their melodramatic and sensationalised premises are a reflection of
how society is operating. This text was first published in 1927 when Kracauer was living in Germany
working as a respected film critic. He was a member of the Frankfurt school of critical theory,
therefore his work is strongly influenced by colleagues such as Theodor Aldorno, and also his teacher
Georg Simmel (McCormick 99).
Throughout this text he justifies his argument with the analysis of numerous film case studies. He
claims that their plots all echo a homogenous expression of one and the same society (Kracauer, 291).

Rights Of The Legal System
Right to Legal Counsel Access to justice refers to one s ability to access the legal system to enforce
one s legal rights. Without access to the legal system, an individual s legal rights are meaningless. The
maldistribution of legal services has rendered the ideal of equality before the law an empty promise.
Ensuring access to justice is cumbersome, as a constitutional right to legal counsel will impose a
considerable burden on taxpayers. The Charter of Rights and Freedom (the Charter ) guarantees the
right to legal counsel for criminal matters. Conversely, right to civil legal aid only arises when
someone s life, liberty, or security of the person is threatened by state action. The state action

Extra legal solutions aim to incentivize practicing lawyers to engage in pro bono work. This paper will
focus on incentivizing lawyers to do pro bono work. First, the paper will discuss the main barrier to
pro bono work and then it will suggest a general framework to address the barrier. The main barrier to
pro bono work is liability risk, which should be shifted to an insurance provider.
The main reason behind private practice lawyers reluctance to take on pro bono cases is liability risk.
In Canada, most practicing lawyers have professional liability insurance coverage. According to the
Federation of Law Societies of Canada ( FLSC ) report, in Ontario, 85 out of 125 charges laid resulted
in conviction. Overall, LawPro (main insurance provider to lawyers in Ontario) received 5140
complaints. Even though there is only 1.65% chance of a successful malpractice claim (but 68%
chance if a charge is laid), lawyers are still fearful of such claims. Lawyers practice meticulously
because mistakes will end their career. For example, the team of lawyers that drafted the contract in
the comma case will likely not be hired again. The legal profession is reputation based. Clients expect
expertise, competence, and perfection. Failure to deliver less than a perfect document that costs the
client money will ruin the lawyer s reputation. The time between the retainer agreement and closing
letter, lawyers are vulnerable. The opposing counsel cannot harm the lawyer as

Child and Youth Development in Canada
Background This initiative aimed to teach the parents about the importance of nutrition in child
development and ways to improve lunches and long term negative effects on unhealthy eating as
proper nutrition is an important part of healthy child development. Newcomers to Canada are faced

Revenge In J. Budziszewski s Prince Hamlet
Revenge is a thing that seems to always be in style. It is constantly being seen in real life, hollywood,
and literature. People are constantly on edge plotting their revenge or debating if they should even do
it. Some people s conscience is formed too pure to take revenge, but in time it can be turned erroneous
due to events and newfound subconscious desires, as in Prince Hamlet s case.
From the moment humans come out of the womb, their conscience begins to form. As John Locke
describe with tabula rasa, the mind is a blank slate and experience fills it in. This means that when
someone is born their conscience is neither good nor bad, but from that moment on, outside factors are
influencing it. Depending on one s upbringing or environment, they are being taught either good
morals or bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Budziszewski writes, Once a wrong is done, the next wrong comes more easily. On this view
conscience is mainly a restraint, a resistance, a passive barrier. It doesn t so much drive us on as hold
us back, and when persistently attacked, the restraining wall gets thinner and thinner and finally
disappears. Often this explanation is combined with another: that conscience comes from culture, that
it is built up in us from outside. Many others agree with his view that with time the barrier that shields
from the bad can be broken down if wrongs are constantly being done either by the person or
involving the person. In Hamlet s situation, when his father was murdered he wanted to take revenge
on Claudius, but he could not carry through with it at first due to his conscience being too pure.
However, as time went on the devil in his conscience started taking over the angel in it by all the little
details that happened (the mouse trap, sending off to England, etc.). These events built up to turn his
conscience erroneous enough to allow him to carry through with his need for revenge. Events can take
a toll on you psychologically and socially, but your biology will always remain the

Analysis Of The Book The Catcher Of The Rye By Quot....
The Catcher in the Rye, a novel written by J.D. Salinger, follows the short journey in which a teenage
boy is coming to terms with his encroaching adulthood. Holden, the main character, has been kicked
out of a private school for the third time. In New York, he is on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Holden is reluctant to act on the obvious solution of returning home and feels discombobulation
towards the consequences he might have to face. He reflects on the death of his brother and struggles
from loneliness because his brother was the only person he really had a connection with. He now has

his childish acts always get in the way of positive reactions from adult and ultimately his acceptance
as an equal. In this search for his right of passage into adulthood,Holden is constantly trying to keep

from strangers and himself by drinking and smoking. In the early chapters of the book Holden acts
immature, but as the journey progresses so does Holden. He comes to make rational decisions as his
trip goes on as demonstrated by Salinger when Holden calls Sally and asks her out on a real date; it is
considerably less callow than when he called Faith in the middle of the night in hopes of getting
drinks and then having sex. Holden starts to learn and grow into his age. Notice that Holden only
drinks in public and never in privacy. He looks to others for recognition that he can take alcohol like a

Romanticism In The Boarded Window
Chameleons use camouflage to replicate their surrounding environment in order to disguise
themselves from their malicious predators. They can change into various patterns or colors depending
on the severity of the danger they are faced with. In fact, a chameleon can mask itself into a rock so
that their predator cannot distinguish between themselves and the rock. Chameleons can mimic
various objects, making them appear to be something they are not. Sometimes, things appear to be one
thing, when in reality, they are something utterly dissimilar. After considering the merits of Realism

Specifically, Murlock enjoys living a simple life and is delighted to be supplied by the sale or barter of
skins of wild animals in the river town (Bierce 16). He is perfectly content in hunting animals and
trading the skin for money, and he doesn t have any ambitions in changing his lifestyle. Because he is
a hunter, he has various kinds of animal skins hanging throughout the walls of his house. The animal
skins have a distinct odor to them, which therefore attract and captivate other wild animals. Bierce
encompasses this to demonstrate that the panther didn t magically appear in Murlock s home, but was
rather attracted to the scent of the dead animals which provides a realistic explanation as to how the
panther waltzed into his home aimlessly. Moreover, when Murlock s wife becomes ill and he has the

Murlock s medical judgement. However, his wife never died, but he unintentionally thought she did.

Political Party System
The American political party system has changed at least five times since the founding of The United
States of America, and these changes started before the election of our first president, George
Washington. Even though the Founding Fathers thought about political parties, to them it was
pointless due to the fact that in a presidential election, the winner would be become the president and
the runner up would become the vice president (Randall, 2012). In fact, the Constitution of the United
States of America does not specifically say anything about political parties. In addition, George
Washington, as outlined in his farewell address, spoke about how he hoped that political parties would

The subject matter of presidential campaigns and swings in the electorate communicates the character
of America s two party system. Political life in the United States continues to be ruled by wide ranging
ideological consensus, the electorate continues to drift near the center of the political range, and the
parties, in order to continue to be competitive, generally drift towards the center to entice voters.
President Clinton won the presidency in 1992 by promising both parties could practice fiscal
responsibility. President George W. Bush won the presidency in 2000 asking for compassionate

The Knee Joint And The Rehabilitation Process
Biomechanics is a field that looks into the structure and function of biological systems such as
humans; it can be used in numerous fields. It ranges from aiding in sports performance to helping
people with daily tasks such as walking. Majority of sport related occur in the lower extremities.
Lower extremities include the hip, knee and ankle joints and the femur, tibia, fibula, and multiple foot
bones. This paper will focus on the role of the ACL, how it is injured, and the rehabilitation process.
While each component of the lower extremity has its own role, the knee is the most complex. The
knee joint performs various functions and carries most of the weight of the upper body. There are four
ligaments in the knee joint: the anterior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be completely torn (ruptured), separated from the tibia or femur (avulsion), or the ligament and
part of the bone may be separated from the rest of the bone (avulsion fracture) 3. There are many
actions that can lead to an ACL tear; shear strain can occur when one is hit on the side of the knee,
simultaneous hyperextension and pivoting of the knee joint, a rapid deceleration or rapid cessation of
movement, and/or a rapid change in direction especially when running, or landing are all leading
causes2. Symptoms of an ACL tear are severe pain, a loud popping sound, swelling, inability to bear
weight, instability of knee joint, and/or loss of full range of motion at the knee joint 2,3,7.
There are certain populations that are at a high risk, athletes and women. Women are 4 to 10 times
more likely than men to tear their ACL7. In terms of biomechanics of the lower extremities there are
various theories as to why this may be. Researchers from the University of Colorado Hospital believe
that it can be attributed to an imbalance in the strength ratio between the quadriceps and hamstrings;
women tend
to use their quadriceps to slow down and this causes instability10. Since women have a wider pelvis, it
creates an increased angle and an increased stress on the ACL. Also women have a narrower femoral
notch that decreases room where the ACL is located and can pinch and possibly rupture it12. Last,
researchers believe that

In high school I was a part of the Northgate Marching Band Drumline. I auditioned my freshman year

the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home
and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was
told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year.

Ethical Treatment of Animals
ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS
If you systematically question the significance and use of existence you are a philosopher, either
amateur or expert. Ethics is the division of philosophy that asks how nation supposed to live their lives
and how they ought to act good and right to each one. Animal ethics is equal but contains animals.
Robert Garner in his book Animal Ethics says Animal ethics look to examine values that are
apprehended concerning the moral standing of non human animals. (Audi, 2010).
Our correlation with animals is based on values we take in from our background and social way of
life. We recognize these values, frequently on conviction from our seniors, without testing or studying
them. But unexamined values when performed can do massive destruction everybody has a few
contact with animals straight or not directly, either agricultural or shooting animals, eating them,
providing food to their pets factory farmed animals, going to the zoo, by means of weathered
substances on animals or washing with animal based soap. Hitherto the largest part of nation do not
understand the pain and damage people inflict on animals since it goes mainly out of view and where
it peaks on top of the surface it is endured as usual.
Here is the point. The damage humans are doing to animal s amounts to a holocaust that we have to
take in hand (Audi, 2010). If we are to make refined evolution we have to understand what we are
doing to animals and consider on how we ought treating

Analysis Of Anselm Kiefer s Burning Rods
The painting Burning Rods, made by Anselm Kiefer is very interesting all the way around from the
materials that are being used to the message it gives. At first glance of this artwork, it looks like a
piece of trash on a canvas because what the media it has on it. This painting is made up of oil, acrylic
emulsion, and shellac on canvas with lead, copper wire, straw, iron, and ceramic (STL). This is a very
interesting combination of media with a finished result of a texture and flaky looking painting with a
gold and black coloring. In the center of the painting, there are some columns. This artwork like other
major artworks has some elements that help the artist with the message. History is one of the elements
that help with understanding why he created this artwork in the first place. Anselm Kiefer was born in
1945 in Donaueschingen, Germany, and he attended the School of Fine Arts at Freiburg in Breisgau
and the Art Academy in Karlsruhe. His work has been shown in museums all over the

  • 2. Protecting Against Terrorist Attacks in Urban... Introduction Blast protection, until recently, has only needed to be considered when constructing underground shelters and military bunkers. Currently, however, there is a need for urban buildings and similar structures used consistently by the general public to withstand forces from nearby explosions. This need is due to the recent climb in terrorist attacks in urban or crowded environments. These attacks have used the lack of blast resistance in these buildings as a means for creating widespread havoc through detonating an improvised explosive device (IED). These devices range from explosives planted inside a structure to roadside or vehicular bombs. An urban environment causes even relatively small explosions to be extremely potent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Structures that collapse in an urban environment result in casualties inside the building and also result in collateral damage that may cause nearby structures to also collapse. This effect was seen in the collapse of the World Trade Center in New York City, although this collapse was not a result of the initial explosion. Had the towers not collapsed, it is estimated that close to half of the deaths could have been prevented (Dwyer). It is therefore vitally important for buildings that suffer damage from explosions to remain structurally stable for as long as Building description Pressure (psi) Damage description Steel frame metal building 1.25 1.50 2.50 5.00 Metal siding anchorage failure Sheeting torn off and internal walls damaged. • 4. Observation Assignment at a Park Essay Observation Assignment at a Park Hayden Park was an interesting place for a Freeze Frame assignment. For those who have not heard of a Freeze Frame, it is simply sitting in one spot for 15 to 20 minutes observing ones surroundings. So to continue, at first glance, Hayden Park is a typical Valley of the Sun type park. Most of these typical parks have grass, picnic tables, some trees, and usually some sort of sports availability such as a basketball court or soccer field, or both. In addition, the parks also have pleasant surroundings. But Hayden Park is located in South Phoenix, so automatically the typical standard for parks is altered. The surroundings around Hayden Park are far from what most people would consider to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was one peculiar individual, a young Hispanic male, who I observed riding a bicycle in circles around the only building in the park for approximately ten minutes. Nothing but circles, and then he rode off down the road. There was another Hispanic male who was pushing a young child on a swing. After a short time they left the park on foot. The last person I saw during the Freeze Frame, besides the ice cream man who drove by and the trailer park resident who passed through the park and walked on down the road, was a city worker who was doing routine maintenance in the park; checking sprinklers, emptying garbage, and doing whatever in the building. As far as structures go, there was the one small square one story building with graffiti and the brick and cement graffiti riddled canopy structures that covered approximately ten picnic tables. Graffiti was basically everywhere, yet I noticed that the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Saint of Mexico, painted on the side of the building was untouched. Not even gang sign graffiti was anywhere near it. This in itself shows respect; which makes me wonder why the youth and various residents of South Phoenix would disrespect the rest of their neighborhood by polluting it in so many ways. Perhaps it is like Tricia Rose stated, graffiti writers...claim turf and gain local status by developing new styles (1) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Research Paper On Dionyysus Throughout Greek mythology, there are many great gods, goddesses and heroes. In Greek mythology gods, goddesses and heroes often have suffered greatly but have achieved great tasks. Out of all the great gods, goddesses and heroes, Dionysus is the greatest. Not Only did Dionysus save people like Ariadne from the island of Naxos but he also created wine which is still one of the most popular drinks today and is still often used to celebrate. Dionysus, or to the Romans, Bacchus, is a great god. He is the god of wine, cheer, wild behavior, dancing, fertility, resurrection, drama, song, vegetation, and all around jolly fellow. He was a very popular god because of his jolly disposition and carefree attitude. His jolly disposition and carefree attitude which is mainly why he is the greatest god because this attitude not only gave the world the gift of wine but saved lives like Ariadne from the island of Naxos. ... Perhaps it was from these that he learned to love fresh growing plants and climbing vines full of fruit; but however that may be, he became the god of the grape and of wine . When Dionysus was grown , he did not join the other gods on Mount Olympus just yet, but set out on a long journey, through all the countries of the world, teaching men and women everywhere how to plant and tend to a grapevine, and how to press the juice from the ripe fruit, and make it into wine. • 7. Philip Augustus s Success Of The Angevin s Failure Was Philip Augustus success linked to the Angevin s failure? Philip Augustus undoubtedly faced weak Angevin opposition. However, it was the economic, administrative and ideological changes that had taken place in Capetian France, which were the real driving force behind Philip s success. John s comparative weakness and poor leadership credentials made Capetian success even more likely, but did not make it inevitable. Philip had to harness the French economy and win the support of his nobility. He was so successful in these endeavors that he would have been a match for any 12th century European power. The strength of the Capetian economy was one of the most important factors in Philip s success. Philip personally was very interested in developing Paris. He built Les Halles as a market place, paved many streets and invested heavily in infrastructure. The creation of a large market place and better transportation meant that the economy picked up and Paris became wealthier. This meant that Philip could call on Paris for financial support when he went on crusade. Assarting and the creation of communes furthered strengthened Philip s economy. Between 1150 and 1180 the forests of Othen and Orleans were cleared, and over 40 new villages created in their wake.1 As Hallam pointed out, the king allowed these villages to be created and granted them special privileges in exchange for rent being paid directly to the crown. • 8. Parenting Styles And Their Effects On Children Parenting Styles and Their Effects on Children We must all realize the impact we have on the world around us, whether it be an immediate effect or an action that releases a chain of events that is unforeseeable. Taking responsibility for the activities we partake in during everyday life is crucial for progressing in the future. This concept becomes much more actualized when we are raising our children. Children are undoubtedly the future of today. How we raise them will immediately impact what kind of lives they will have in the future, which in turn, will set up the world for years to come. This meant temporary realignment within New Zealand politics, as New Right middle class voters voted Labour at the New Zealand general election, 1987 in approval of its economic policies. • 10. Deception And Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By... In Shakespearean drama, a common motif is that of deception and disguise. There are two types of deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result. In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently. Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. Shakespeare uses several examples of deception in the play to develop the play s important themes. First of all, one example of deception in the play is when Benedick is tricked into believing Beatrice loves him and Beatrice is tricked into believing Benedick loves her. Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince have a conversation and Hero and Margaret have another conversation in such manners that Benedick and Beatrice can overhear them purposefully. From the moment humans come out of the womb, their conscience begins to form. As John Locke describe with tabula rasa, the mind is a blank slate and experience fills it in. This means that when someone is born their conscience is neither good nor bad, but from that moment on, outside factors are influencing it. Depending on one s upbringing or environment, they are being taught either good morals or bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Budziszewski writes, Once a wrong is done, the next wrong comes more easily. On this view conscience is mainly a restraint, a resistance, a passive barrier. It doesn t so much drive us on as hold us back, and when persistently attacked, the restraining wall gets thinner and thinner and finally disappears. Often this explanation is combined with another: that conscience comes from culture, that it is built up in us from outside. Many others agree with his view that with time the barrier that shields from the bad can be broken down if wrongs are constantly being done either by the person or involving the person. In Hamlet s situation, when his father was murdered he wanted to take revenge on Claudius, but he could not carry through with it at first due to his conscience being too pure. However, as time went on the devil in his conscience started taking over the angel in it by all the little details that happened (the mouse trap, sending off to England, etc.). These events built up to turn his conscience erroneous enough to allow him to carry through with his need for revenge. Events can take a toll on you psychologically and socially, but your biology will always remain the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Salinger, follows the short journey in which a teenage boy is coming to terms with his encroaching adulthood. Holden, the main character, has been kicked out of a private school for the third time. In New York, he is on the verge of a mental breakdown. Holden is reluctant to act on the obvious solution of returning home and feels discombobulation towards the consequences he might have to face. In this search for his right of passage into adulthood,Holden is constantly trying to keep prove himself. Holden is 17 years old, and he is not really a child anymore and tries to gain validation from strangers and himself by drinking and smoking. In the early chapters of the book Holden acts immature, but as the journey progresses so does Holden. He comes to make rational decisions as his trip goes on as demonstrated by Salinger when Holden calls Sally and asks her out on a real date; it is considerably less callow than when he called Faith in the middle of the night in hopes of getting drinks and then having sex. Holden starts to learn and grow into his age. Notice that Holden only drinks in public and never in privacy. He looks to others for recognition that he can take alcohol like a man. • 32. Romanticism In The Boarded Window Chameleons use camouflage to replicate their surrounding environment in order to disguise themselves from their malicious predators. They can change into various patterns or colors depending on the severity of the danger they are faced with. In fact, a chameleon can mask itself into a rock so that their predator cannot distinguish between themselves and the rock. Chameleons can mimic various objects, making them appear to be something they are not. Sometimes, things appear to be one thing, when in reality, they are something utterly dissimilar. After considering the merits of Realism and Romanticism, Ambrose Bierce s The Boarded Window expresses Realism more than Romanticism because everything that occurs in the story has a reasonable and ... Specifically, Murlock enjoys living a simple life and is delighted to be supplied by the sale or barter of skins of wild animals in the river town (Bierce 16). He is perfectly content in hunting animals and trading the skin for money, and he doesn t have any ambitions in changing his lifestyle. Because he is a hunter, he has various kinds of animal skins hanging throughout the walls of his house. The animal skins have a distinct odor to them, which therefore attract and captivate other wild animals. Bierce encompasses this to demonstrate that the panther didn t magically appear in Murlock s home, but was rather attracted to the scent of the dead animals which provides a realistic explanation as to how the panther waltzed into his home aimlessly. Moreover, when Murlock s wife becomes ill and he has the task of nursing her back to health, but at the end of the third day, she fell into unconsciousness arid so passed away, apparently Bierce 17). With no doctors near Murlock s home to help, he has no choice but to try to tend his wife back to health by himself. After many days of care, she dies, based purely on Murlock s medical judgement. However, his wife never died, but he unintentionally thought she did. So, when the dead wife gets off the table while the panther is near, she doesn t return from the dead, she was always alive. ... Political Party System The American political party system has changed at least five times since the founding of The United States of America, and these changes started before the election of our first president, George Washington. Even though the Founding Fathers thought about political parties, to them it was pointless due to the fact that in a presidential election, the winner would be become the president and the runner up would become the vice president (Randall, 2012). In fact, the Constitution of the United States of America does not specifically say anything about political parties. Political life in the United States continues to be ruled by wide ranging ideological consensus, the electorate continues to drift near the center of the political range, and the parties, in order to continue to be competitive, generally drift towards the center to entice voters. President Clinton won the presidency in 1992 by promising both parties could practice fiscal responsibility. President George W. Bush won the presidency in 2000 asking for compassionate conservatism, which would be a call to remember that Democrats did not have exclusive control on social concerns. • 35. The Knee Joint And The Rehabilitation Process Biomechanics is a field that looks into the structure and function of biological systems such as humans; it can be used in numerous fields. It ranges from aiding in sports performance to helping people with daily tasks such as walking. Majority of sport related occur in the lower extremities. Lower extremities include the hip, knee and ankle joints and the femur, tibia, fibula, and multiple foot bones. This paper will focus on the role of the ACL, how it is injured, and the rehabilitation process. While each component of the lower extremity has its own role, the knee is the most complex. It can be completely torn (ruptured), separated from the tibia or femur (avulsion), or the ligament and part of the bone may be separated from the rest of the bone (avulsion fracture) 3. There are many actions that can lead to an ACL tear; shear strain can occur when one is hit on the side of the knee, simultaneous hyperextension and pivoting of the knee joint, a rapid deceleration or rapid cessation of movement, and/or a rapid change in direction especially when running, or landing are all leading causes2. Symptoms of an ACL tear are severe pain, a loud popping sound, swelling, inability to bear weight, instability of knee joint, and/or loss of full range of motion at the knee joint 2,3,7. There are certain populations that are at a high risk, athletes and women. Women are 4 to 10 times more likely than men to tear their ACL7. In terms of biomechanics of the lower extremities there are various theories as to why this may be. Researchers from the University of Colorado Hospital believe that it can be attributed to an imbalance in the strength ratio between the quadriceps and hamstrings; women tend to use their quadriceps to slow down and this causes instability10. Since women have a wider pelvis, it creates an increased angle and an increased stress on the ACL. Also women have a narrower femoral notch that decreases room where the ACL is located and can pinch and possibly rupture it12. Last, researchers believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the time the line was dominated by girls, so I felt very comfortable and made a lot of friends. During the winter season I auditioned for snare. In drumline, the snare drum is the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year. During the banquet they would announce all of the new section leaders. They took us into the hall and I was told I was the new section leader for the drumline. This role is held very high in the Northgate Marching Band, because if you hold this position, you are a leader of the band. Now that I had the title I needed to accomplish one more thing. In drumline we have a center snare. The center snare is the most advanced player on the line, they count off all the exercises and they are the person you listen to when playing. Ethics is the division of philosophy that asks how nation supposed to live their lives and how they ought to act good and right to each one. Animal ethics is equal but contains animals. Robert Garner in his book Animal Ethics says Animal ethics look to examine values that are apprehended concerning the moral standing of non human animals. (Audi, 2010). Our correlation with animals is based on values we take in from our background and social way of life. We recognize these values, frequently on conviction from our seniors, without testing or studying them. But unexamined values when performed can do massive destruction everybody has a few contact with animals straight or not directly, either agricultural or shooting animals, eating them, providing food to their pets factory farmed animals, going to the zoo, by means of weathered substances on animals or washing with animal based soap. Hitherto the largest part of nation do not understand the pain and damage people inflict on animals since it goes mainly out of view and where it peaks on top of the surface it is endured as usual. Here is the point. The damage humans are doing to animal s amounts to a holocaust that we have to take in hand (Audi, 2010). This painting is made up of oil, acrylic emulsion, and shellac on canvas with lead, copper wire, straw, iron, and ceramic (STL). This is a very interesting combination of media with a finished result of a texture and flaky looking painting with a gold and black coloring. In the center of the painting, there are some columns. This artwork like other major artworks has some elements that help the artist with the message.
