Green Affordable Housing Essay
Introduction
Green building has come forth over the past decade as a positive movement to produce high
performance, energy efficient structures that improve comfort and health for resident, meanwhile,
minimizing environmental impacts. Nevertheless, a common sense that green features is expensive
and not suitable for affordable housing. Recent studies are showed that green buildings have a
modest initial cost premium, but the long term benefits far exceed the additional capital costs. For
this report, I will introduce a financial analysis Net Present Value(NPV), and discuss the impacts of
NPV analysis for green affordable housing.

To convert future dollars to present dollars, net present value analysis inserts a number discount rate
.
Here are 4 basic steps for NPV analysis Forecast the benefits and costs in each year.
We need to forecast the benefits and costs in today s dollar include opportunity costs and use
expected value to estimate uncertain benefits and costs, omit the sunk costs, non monetary cost and
benefits. Determine a discount rate.
The discount rate is a nominal discount rate. We can use this formula to converse real to nominal.
(1+real discount rate)*(1+future CPI) 1=nominal discount rate
Future CPI = Future consumer price index Calculate the net present value.
∑net present value=∑((total benefits total costs))в
Ѓ„гЂ–(1+r)гЂ—^(length ) r = discount rate
Determine alternatives
After calculate the NPV, we are not only calculated monetary costs and benefits, we also need to
consider non monetary costs and benefits.
Life cycle Costing (LCC)
Life cycle costing is an economics tool to assess the total cost of a product. Another purpose for
this tool, as a management decision tool, for comparing different parts conflicts by concentration
on facts, money and time. By using Life cycle costing, total cost of the product can be calculated
over the total span of product life cycle. All parties on this project, such as product suppliers,
consumers and owners are benefit from LCC.

Lupus Explanation
It s the first time that I really think in stars and constellations. I see them all the nights but today
was the first day that I look for a real meaning in those bright points in the sky. For my essay I
choose the constellation Lupus and the reason it s very easy, i love animals and wolf is one of my
favorites. This constellation is situated in the south hemisphere between two others, Centaurus and
Scorpius. In addition it s not a big constellation; it is composed by thirty not very bright stars. The
Nordic myth of this constellation talk about Kati a wolf who go after the moon named Mani all the
nights. Nordic people think that lunar eclipses happened because that wolf was near the moon. This
people think that it will be the end of

Barbary Pirates Revolutionary War
After the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the United States of America had officially gained
their independence after a hard fought and grueling revolution against Great Britain. The new
republic was eager to enter the world of global and maritime trade and hoped to maintain and
thrive on their newly achieved freedom. However, the Americans soon realized there were
consequences for no longer being a part of the British empire: there was no powerful navy to
protect them from international threats, such the the Barbary pirates (London, 13 15). They had
to start working on their own protection. America s war with the Barbary pirates helped establish
the U.S. navy and shape the nation after the Revolutionary War. The Barbary pirates operated off
the coast of North Africa since the time of the Crusades. The pirates were essentially sponsored
by the Arab rulers in Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli. They are said to have sailed as far
north as Iceland, attacking ports, taking captive people as slaves, and plundering merchant ships.
Most countries found it easier and cheaper to bribe the pirates instead of fighting them in a war.

had to pay Algiers $1 million dollars for ransoms and tributes, which was 20% of America s entire
annual budget at the time. The Barbary pirates also had a negative impact on the American citizens.
Between 1784 and the end of the Second Barbary War, the pirates captured over 700 people. This
discouraged American travelers and private merchants from going into Mediterranean waters,

Prostitution In The Uk Research Paper
Even though each state individually chooses how to handle prostitution criminals, there is a general
trend among all the states that prostitutes and customers receive more lenient punishments than
pimps.
Very much unlike the United States, in the United Kingdom it is completely legal for an individual
to exchange money for sex. Although prostitution is legal in the UK, there are many laws
implemented to ensure that the government maintains a certain level of control of the sex industry
(Casciani). Brothels, street prostitution, kerb crawling, and pimping are all aspects of prostitution
that are criminalized within the UK (Calciano); through implementation of multiple acts, such as
the Sexual Offences Act and the Policing and Crime Act, the majority of the laws regulating the sex
industry were established.
In the Sexual Offences Act of 2009, it was declared that it is illegal for brothels to be utilized
within the UK (Sexual Offence Act, 2009). If there is more than one individual offering sex in the
same building as another individual offering sex, the building is considered a brothel and thus
becomes a criminal situation (Casciani). In addition to brothels being criminalized, the Sexual
Offences Act also criminalizes street ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In the tv series Jason Street begins the season, until he suffered a career ending hit that
paralyzed him for his life. This paved the way for no name Matt Saracen, a sophomore backup
who had never seen the field and had very limited athletic ability. Where as, the movie features
Mike Winchell a senior, receiving his first start ever as a panther. The hard working, small and
determined quarterback faces adversity and leads his panther team to victory even without star
running back and offensive juggernaut Booby Miles. Winchell takes it upon himself to lead his
team and show them what he can do. On the other hand, in the tv series, Matt Saracen is
struggling to find confidence in his new role on the team. I just want to be back up again. He
pleads. This is where coach Eric Taylor steps in and teaches the young quarterback how to work
with what he s got, and how to manage a football game. Saracen in his first start only threw the
ball four times, but one pass was a completion for the game winning touchdown. Mike Winchell
and Matt Saracen are your average, home grown, Texas boy, who grew up without a father or a
mother. Both Saracen and Winchell are without parents, but still have loving grandmas that
attend/watch every game. The two have very similar backgrounds but opposite demeanor,
Winchell always worked hard and never was handed anything. Saracen was handed the starting
quarterback job after Jason was paralyzed, and he didn t want the responsibility. This adds to his
uprising throughout the next couple of weeks. After he won the first game at quarterback, people
said, Jason Street who? He didn t know Jason before the injury and he didn t know what to do, so
he went to Jason for help regarding leadership and stepping up when the team needed it. Jason

The Theory Of The Climbers On Mount Everest
Tony Blair once said, The art of leadership is saying no, not yes. It is very easy to say yes.
Expedition Behavior stems from the overall tone set forth by the leader, however trusting all
participants to model the leader s standards is difficult. Both positive and negative expedition
behavior may be present on trips. The members of the team must learn to effectively discuss
concerns and celebrations as a group in order to inform the entire company of certain situations.
Arguing or ignoring requests from the leader results in bad expedition behavior, whereas trusting or
conferring anxieties appropriately with the leader usually develops into good expedition behavior.
In the case of the climbers on Mount Everest, both examples were present in the varying climbers.
Each member struggled with trials and tribulations and the end result paralleled the expedition
behavior expressed throughout the tremendously burdensome and laborious journey. The first
climber, Tim, displayed bad expedition behavior by arguing and ignoring Russell s commands. To
begin with, Tim left from camp twenty minutes later than planned, therefore resulting in a delay of
plans. Once Tim had started his trek up the mountain, he was trapped behind an injured climber
from another party. The additional delay lead to Tim running low on Oxygen, possible development
of frostbite, exhaustion. All of these factors contributed to Russell s decision for Tim to return to
camp without finishing the climb to the

Empirical Examination Of Breastfeeding And Physical...
Empirical examination of Breastfeeding and Physical Engagement regarding Academic Alice Park
from TIME magazine wrote an article called, Study: Breastfeeding Improves Academic
Performance, Especially for Boys. Park targets expecting parents, particularly mothers to explain the
outcomes associated with breastfeeding. Park recommends mothers to breastfeed their babies
because the nutrients in breast milkhelp improve academic performance in children, especially in
boys as they develop later in life. It is recommended that the mother breastfeed the baby for at least
six months, but the mother should extend this time for boys because it shows an increase in their
academic performance. To back up the advice, Park presents a study conducted... Show more

The second piece of advice recommends keeping children physically engaged, by this it means to
have the children be active participants in their learning to have a mind body connection. It has
been found that physical movements make certain parts of the brain light up and increase
engagement. These pieces of advice will be described below to provide further information.
Breastfeed Babies for At Least Six Months to Increase Academic Performance Susan Tawia s article,
Breastfeeding, brain structure and function, cognitive development and educational attainment,
discusses the outcomes of breastfeeding on a child s cognitive development through observation of
IQ scores and brain structure development. It was hypothesized that children who breastfed would
have better developmental outcomes in terms of education and social than those who were
artificially fed. The main method in which the results were obtained were in terms of observation.
Researchers observed and measured head circumference, saw the inside of brain development to
view important growth within the brain, such as myelin sheath, and in the 1980s, they randomly
selected a small number of mothers to breastfeed their children to eliminate bias and answer the
question with an experiment. In the elementary school years, it was found that the mean difference
in IQ scores between kids who were breastfed and those who

Reflection Of A Journey To The Lake Of The Woods
The other day I was making a gratitude list. I do this periodically after I m reminded by someone
to make it a daily practice. I can attest that as it makes me more aware of what people, birthright
and luck brings to one s life. My gratitude list includes living, breathing things, like my dogs and
my friends, and now for the last decade, includes my father and our annual visit to our summer
cabin in Northern Minnesota.
My father just pushed past ninety three in March of this year. I am very grateful to have
developed a relationship with him that is more like a friendship and camaraderie. He makes for
great company in a place with very little noise. Our relationship transformed after my mother
passed and now our vacation week on Lake of the Woodsinvolves us to create conversation and
shared experiences.
Our vacation retreat is on a small island that now has several walking paths, the necessary boat
dock and a very modest cabin. As my mother used to say, It s a cabin in the sticks . The island s
inhabitance began in the 1920 s by my father s father. It s both humble and grand. More than
once will I hear the word Paradise as my father voices his awe at the rugged beauty that
surrounds us on all sides. You can only describe these 14, 500 islands that dot Lake of the Woods
as timeless . Regardless of modernization, the vista is an enduring expanse of green cedar and
white pine trees whose gnarly roots hang on for dear life to the granite. It s a wonder

Governess And Ninny
When comparing The Ninny and The Governess , the reader can see the similarities and
differences in the text. In both text the author created the characters to have the same qualities.
On the other hand, the author of The Ninny created one of the main characters, which was the
employer as a man, while in The Governess the author created the employer as a woman. In both
of the short stories, there are many similarities. Both of the employers make notes about what
they need to take money away for. Simon states, But I made a note of it. Why would I make a
note of it if I didn t give it to you? (179), this quotation is showing how the mistress made a note
to take away money. Also, in the two short stories, the two working girls began to cry because of
the way they are being treated. Lastly, the employers both get mad at their workers for not
speaking up for themselves and having low confidence. Together, The Ninny and The Governess
are similar in many different ways.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One difference that they both have is the genres. The Ninny is realistic fiction, meaning it can

Governess , the employer was going to pay at the end a total of ten rubles. The text states, Take
three from fourteen. That leaves eleven, (175). Neil Simon states on page 180, Ten Rubles will be
fine. The two textual evidence I have provided shows how the employers gave a different amount
of money. Another difference from the short stories is what is stolen from Vayna. In The Ninny ,
Vayna s boots were stolen. Although, in The Governess , Vayna s shoes were stolen. The two short

The World War I Ended
In late June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. A rise of threats and
mobilization orders followed the event, leading to the outbreak of World War I, which pitted
Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire (the so called Central Powers) against Great
Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan (the Allied Powers). The Allies were joined after 1917 by
the United States. The four years of the Great War as it was then known saw unprecedented levels
of carnage and destruction, thanks to grueling trench warfareand the introduction of modern
weaponry such as machine guns, tanks and chemical weapons. By the time World War I
ended in the
defeat of the Central Powers in November 1918, more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and
21 million more wounded. New weapons revolutionized combat in World War One.
Combat morphed from a rapid, noble and relatively ephemeral thing to a new model: trench warfare.
There were many wars before the Great War, or World War 1. The Revolutionary war and The
Civil War were the two major wars before the occurrence of World War 1. Both of these wars
produced many casualties. During The Civil, at least 618,000 Americans died. Today, The Civil
War still has the greatest number of American casualties than any other war. Another major war
prior to the First World War was the American Revolution. During this time there was
approximately 50,000 dead or wounded American soldiers.

Men In The Elizabethan Era
The high class people of the Elizabethan era were borderline obsessed with their appearance.
These nobles would go to almost any length to ensure that they looked impeccable according to the
social standards. Nothing was too extreme because in their eyes, the gain outweighed the loss. Men
and women of the Elizabethan erawould do almost anything to distinguish their class.
Both men and women wanted to be in the height of fashion, especially when it came to hair. Noble
men would also dress just as extravagantly as their female counterparts. This is contrary to modern
times, as today s men tend to not spend as much time and money as women on appearance. To the
people of the Elizabethan era, beauty was everything. Anything or anyone ugly was inferior.

Seasonality is described as systemic and a calendar related effect. In the real world, seasonal
events affect the price and demand for particular products and/or services. For instance,
Christmas is a time when retail stores experience a large influx of consumers. In the last month
of 2005, an estimated 21.1 billion dollars ($500,000 per minute) was spent by Australians
leading up to the Christmas period (Fleur Leyden 2005, Business). In the same way, seasonal
events in World of Warcraft influence price and demand for particular products and/or services.
During Christmas time the cities within World of Warcraft are decorated with trees and
adornments. At the same time players are required to complete quests, in order to progress in the
game, that are only available during this seasonal event. Candles are a major component in
completing these quests. As demand increases so does the price of raw materials to make candles.
By understanding seasonality and its affects, players learn that they can increase there profits by

This ever changing people s history is left in the few remaining volumes the works of comedy,
tragedy, and satire (____________90) .
One of the earliest Greek records of satire can be traced to around 500 B.C. Early Greek satires (
Satyrs or Satyric dramas ) were in essence comedy plays, usually fairly bawdy, and often
involved men dressed as Satyrs (clearly the root of the word Satyric). Satyrs were mythological
creatures with the upper half of a man and the bottom half of a goat or horse. Satyr was one of
three forms of Athenian drama, nestling comfortably as a new genre alongside tragedy and
comedy. Satyr was quickly developed between the writers Pratinas, Aristeas, and Aeschylus. These
new Satyrs did not begin life as fully developed features they were instead used as interval pieces
to relieve the seriousness of tragic plays. These comic pieces, counterpointing and parodying the
tragedy, became extremely popular devices and led to the extension of the form.
Ancient Greek comedy was one of the final three principal dramatic forms in the theatre of
classical Greece (the others being tragedy and the satyr play). Athenian comedy is conventionally
divided into three periods, Old Comedy, Middle Comedy, and New Comedy. Old Comedy
survives today largely in the form of the eleven surviving plays of Aristophanes, while Middle
Comedy is largely lost, i.e. preserved only in relatively short fragments in authors such as
Athenaeus of Naucratis. New Comedy is known

Disney Theme Parks
1.As stated in the book International Business, there are three major operating objectives that
encourage businesses to engage in international business. These three objectives include expanding
sales, acquiring recourses, and to minimize risk. I feel that Disney was motivated by all three of
these aspects, and possibly others when deciding whether or not he should move more of his
business abroad. After seeing how successful the two theme parks in the United States were doing,
the next option would be to expand. By expanding the parks into five international parks, Disney s
theme parks outside the United States would reportedly exceed that inside the country. I think that
Disney also wanted to diversify and to let others experience... Show more content on

If these changes were not made, the problems would cause Disney to go bankrupt. After finding
an investor, Disney immediately took action. The company lowered their prices, agreed to make
French the first language, terminated the no alcohol policy, and took on more promotional
projects to advertise the park more efficiently. Another great contribution to making Disney Paris
a success was the French government. The government decided to expand the Paris railway and
connect it to the park. This would allow the park to be joined to the rest of Europe. 4.In my
opinion, yes, I think that Disney should set up a park in Shanghai. The other parks that have
been opened and running for a few years have shown great success. I think this is a perfect city
to create and begin another Disney theme park. Shanghai is a successful and fast growing city
full of trading and profit. Because there is so much traveling and tourists going through China,
Shanghai s Disney theme park would attract a vast majority of these people to their park. China
is also extremely over populated and will have plenty of local families visiting the park to give
their children the Disney experience. The builders of this theme park need to be aware of the mass
amount of people who will be visiting the theme park, and take in to

Ford Of The Automobile Industry
Introduction
Ford was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated in June 16, 1903. Ford is famously known for
popularizing the assembly line with the production of the T Model Ford. In addition to the Ford
brand, the corporation also includes their luxury vehicle line Lincoln. From 1938 2011 Mercury
was also a part of the Ford fleet of cars. During the financial crisis of 2009, Ford was one of the
few American car companies that avoided bankruptcy. They have since grown to be the second
largest U.S. based car manufacturer, and the fifth largest in Europe.
Industry and Customer Value
The customer base for automobiles is diverse and has different requirements and desires for
automobiles. The auto industry has recognized these requirements and desires and manufactures
various models to accommodate the customers. Ford is a true innovator in the automobile industry.
They have made such headway mainly because they figured out to mass produce their cars quickly,
thereby making it affordable to the customer base. Ford has made great strides in rebranding what
value means to their customer. There are several factors that customers deem valuable when
selecting a Ford automobile:
Price Although Ford produces a range of affordable automobiles suitable for every customer, one
thing that Ford has done is officially lower the recommended price list on all of its medium and
small cars.
Dependability Ford has prided itself on the dependability of its cars. In an effort to

Causes Of Cuban In The Spanish American War
Cuba in the Spanish American War The Spanish American war consisted of a series of
influential battles that pitted America and many of Spain s colonies against Spanish rule, and
ended with Spain losing its colonies and America gaining control over more and more land. In
1898, America joined a war being pit against Spain to force the Spanish to relinquish all control
of their colonies, including Guam, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. This same war ended only a few
months later, with Spain suffering huge losses and America gaining money and territories. The
Spanish American war could be split into three main points of interest: How and why the Spanish
American war started, The battles of Manila, Santiago de Cuba, Asomante, and Las Guasimas (
And the Rough Riders) , and the aftermath of the war. One of the most interesting territories was
Cuba. Although the Spanish american war was not a long and costly war, it changed many
people s lives indefinitely. There were a plethora of important events that took place that
prompted the beginning of The Spanish American war. The war was officially started in 1898,
bringing joy to the citizens of America and dismay to then president William Mckinley. Before the
war, Cuba had been fighting for independence from Spain. The Cuban s had already lost in the ten
year war earlier, which had been fought to gain their independence from Spain. In the state s,

Government Controls In Australia During World War Two
Government controls had a major impact on the change of Australian life and society during World
War Two. It was necessary for the government to establish new controls in Australia during the
Second World War in order to control the information being distributed to the public, protect
Australian citizens and maintain peace within Australian society. The first example of government
control in Australiais censorship. During World War Two, the government controlled the
information that was made public to the media. This was often to stop information being leaked to
the enemy and promote enthusiasm for the war. Censorship often involved suppressing information
to avoid panic and discontent in Australian society. For example, the figures of those... Show more

Over 900 000 men left for war which meant women had to take on their roles in order to keep the
country going, this was a major change as women usually only stayed at home and never had
the opportunity to work. The first example of women s changing role in society was women
enlisting in the armed forces. In 1941, the government created three women s services: the
Women s Auxiliary Australian Air Force, the Australian Women s Army Service and the Women
s Royal Australian Naval Service. This was seen as a way to further deal with the challenges of
war as women could take on roles previously occupied by men, such as electricians, aircraft
mechanics, clerical assistants, caterers, signallers and more. Women were also able to serve in
army hospitals in both Australia and other countries that Australia had fought in. Another
example of women s changing role in society during World War Two was the formation of the
Australian Women s Land Army. Due to the labour shortage in rural areas, in 1942 the Women s
Land Army was established by the government. Over 2000 women joined and they were paid to
live and work on farms in isolated areas. Their work included operating farm machinery, growing
fruits and vegetables, milking cows, raising pigs and poultry and harvesting crops. The army
was promoted as a vital war job and helped deal with the labour shortages in Australia at the time.
This was a major change in Australian life and society during World War Two as it was ultimately
women s entry into workforce and new way of living. It meant that women were able to contribute

Evaluation Of An Appraisal Form
Evaluating an Appraisal Form
In a recent survey, over 50 percent of respondents reported that they believe performance reviews
do not provide accurate appraisals of their work, and nearly 25 percent said they dread
performance reviews more than anything else (Pulakos, Mueller Hanson, O Leary, Meyrowitz,
2012, p. 8). Negative perceptions of appraisals derive from feelings of being a waste of time or
holding no value in the workplace. Organization leadership should develop a thorough evaluation
form to combat the pessimistic discernment for performance reviews. Constructing a meticulous
form, adhering to guidelines, and stressing the importance of the process will build staff support for
the program.

Douglas MacArthur was an American general who commanded the Southwest Pacific in World

MacArthur was raised in a military household. His father being Captain MacArthur who fought in

The Hero s Journey Is A Long And Arduous One
The hero s journey is a long and arduous one, but ends up being quite rewarding in the end. The
hero follows the road of growth and education until they are ready to pursuit their goals and save
the day. Two such heroes journeys are the stories of Will Stronghold in Sky High (2005) and
Hercules of Hercules (1997). Both, Will and Hercules, want to be heroes and correlate through
the ideals of: lacking of powers, making their fathers proud, and wanting to save the day. Thus,
the two films can be assessed through the various social and personal similarities within the film.
First, in Sky High, Will is a young freshman attending high school for super teens with both of
his parents being crime fighting superheroes. In fact, Will s parents are known as two of the best
superheroes in the world, setting a very high standard for Will himself. Super powers in the film
are somewhat represented in a similar manner to puberty, as the children usually get them as they
grow up. By the first day of class, it is found out that Will doesn t have any superpowers, which
sets him as an outcast within the school. Will just wants to have superpowers in order to fit in, as
he feels out of place within a school full of superheroes. Eventually, Will begins to accept the fact
that he might just be a normal person without powers. Later on, Will unfortunately ends up in a
brawl with Warren Peace, who doesn t like will because of his father s actions, and figures out that
he has superhumanstrength.

Core Impact Pro provides a comprehensive scope of testing. The software is capable of testing
across network vectors across the physical network, web, mobile, and wireless. The software can
be used to validate patching status of network assets. The software can be used to provide what if
attack scenarios, that would allow the agency to understand how data or systems may be
compromised in an attack. Core Impact is designed to perform tests quickly, and has several
wizards to use in configuring tests. This would be good for individuals who may be familiar with
IT but are new to vulnerability assessments or penetration tests.

Nevertheless, Ice Fili has three main weaknesses. First, their marketing is poor and competitors are
taking this opportunity to use their strong marketing experience. Second, 80% of Ice Fili s
distribution is through kiosks and mini markets. The issue is that the market is saturated with street
kiosks and mini markets carry limited range of food products. Third, customers have twice the
likelihood of finding a NestlГ© product rather than an Ice Fili one which illustrates their low
product availability. Focusing on their core competency is the solution to gain market share.
Financial Analysis
With the use of financial ratios the following conclusions were deducted (see exhibit A for
calculations). Ice Fili is in good financial position since they are profitable given their positive
working capital and no long term debt. Their current ratio has increased over the past 4 years
which is a good indicator of liquidity but also illustrates an inefficient use in cash.
Their cash flow position is weak in 2001 since the cash conversion cycle is at its highest point
compared to previous years. Customers pay within 31 days whereas Ice Fili pays their suppliers
in 21 days. Ice Fili is not using their customer s funds to pay suppliers, but rather their own funds.
Also, inventory is turning at a lesser rate than prior years which indicate that their inventory level
may be too high which ties up cash flow that could be used for investments or to pay suppliers.

importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the

Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Of A Nation
Gross Domestic Product
Gross domestic product (GDP) of a nation is comprised of four primary components. These
components; consumption, investment, government spending and net exports are the measure of
the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country s borders in
over a given period of time. This can be broken down in any time frame but is normally used
quarterly and annually. The GDP can be calculated as; GDP (Y) = consumption (C) + investment
(I) + government spending (G) + net exports (NX) or Y=C+I+G+NX. The key word here is
finished goods and not all goods.
Household consumption, one of the four components of calculating the GDP of a nation has a
broad range of items included in it. With the exception of the cost of buying a used house, most
all durable and nondurable goods are measured within this. The money a family spends on goods
and services include everything from haircuts to education. Durable goods would be vehicles
for transportation and all of the items that one buys to furnish a home. Items big and small
regardless of brand or cost are factored in this component. If one was to buy and new set of
appliances for a kitchen and a broom to sweep the floor, they are both used in this calculation. If
one was to save this money for a while longer it would make the overall GDP lower than if the
items were purchased. Education is often thought of as an investment in ones future but it is
considered consumption by means of an

Essay On Women In Athenian Religion
Since human civilization, women never had equality with men. Even in 2018, women are still
fighting for their rights. Women s freedom has always depended on the time period that a women
was raised, their culture, their religion and their society that they are apart of. A prime example that
illustrates this is comparing the women that lived in Athens during the classical age and women in
North America before they were given the right to vote.
There are many opinions about how athenian women were treated and respected during the classical
age. One thing that historians agree upon is that women had great power in religion. There were
many priestesses that contributed to the religion. It must be noted that religion was part of

Those who didn t contribute to the religion played a large role as a wife and mother (O Neal 115).
They were not educated on how to read or write (O Neal). This may contribute to one of the

classical age from Athens was of a man s view. It is agreed upon that the Athenian society was
patriarchal.Women were not allowed to take part in politics: In Athens,[...] women were legal
nonentities whom the greek excluded from any participation in the political or intellectual life
of the city. (O Neal 117). Regardless, women were acknowledged and appreciated when

who was a priestess of Athena Polias. She is known for making the Pythais festival beneficial for

Selecting Stallions for Breeding
Efficient and effective breeding is dependent on the performance of the Stallion and the mare.
Adequate knowledge of the Stallion anatomy keeps one at good point to make good decision on
selecting Stallion that will perform above average (Graffin, 2000, Morris Allen, 2002)
The records of the history of Stallion is a basic tool to understanding the past of the stallion and that
makes it easier to evaluate its present. It should be an eye opener to the accurate age, breed type,
sexual experience, rearing practices, production rate, mating ability, health records, treatments, past
body condition, tests and environmental condition. (Hickman, 1984).
Body conformation is a heritable trait of a stallion by its offspring (Saastamoinen and Barrey,
2000).The physical condition should be at good rating, the stallion should have a good limb
conformation and should be free from all bone and locomotion defects. Dolwik and Klemetsdal

The workshop started by introducing about myself and students on my adjacent sides [left and

a single student can see all in the circle group. This arrangement looked professional and developed
enthusiasm.
Certain small activities were put forth between pairs of students which in turn made us to learn and

Students were grouped into three consisting five to seven students, called Community of Practice.
Each group was given an organization setting to make with dumpty manager and irresponsible staff.
This setting of each group was observed and made us learn the worst managerial methods.
The main aim of workshop 1 was to understand what is reflective learning and how to use it in both
personal and professional development. I felt that being reflective is very important in management
as it helps in analyzing the situation and decision making.

Examples Of Freedom In The Call Of The Wild
What does the book The Call of the Wild conjure in your imagination? It might only remind you
of the adventures in the North, the dogs that helped the men, and the harsh condition, but it is
much more than that. It shows you how to be strong even in darkest of times and it also shows
you that total freedom is not always the best. Buck, the main character, is used to living in
California until one day he is taken away from his family. He is taken to the North and is taught
how to be a wild dogand how to survive. During that time he gets a lot of freedom and finds his
true self. In The Call of the Wild, Jack London s main message is that freedom has both its
advantages and disadvantages, and that there s no perfect situation in life. First, through the
character Buck, Jack London wants to show us some of the advantages of being wild and free.
After Buck is taken to the North, he has some difficulties surviving and taking care of himself.
He is not used to being a wild dog, since he used to live with his family in California. As time
passes by, he realizes that it isn t that bad and starts enjoying his new opportunites. London writes,

Australian Kooala s Natural Habitats
As an Australian native marsupial, the koala has been listed as endangered across majority of its
natural habitats. At one point, its population had grown to almost 10 million, but has dropped to
100,000 or less still in the wild because of human activity. Many have taken action to restore the
population of the koala. The koala s background proves that their population decline is effected
mainly on humans. Numerous people refer to the koala as a koala bear, but in reality it is a
marsupial, similar to a wombat. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South
Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests
where its main food source is the leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to
15 years. While it may have no natural predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face,
hands, and feet which can make it vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although
other factors like fires harm koalas, humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not

to create more homes and to make food more abundant for koalas. When driving, people can be
more cautious around eucalyptus trees and watch for crossing koalas. For those who do not live in
Australia can still help by donating to koala conservation organizations. Koalas can make a
comeback, but not without the help of people. Humans have caused this problem and humans can
fix this problem. The shrinking population can grow if eucalyptus tree harvesting is controlled,
dogs are disciplined, and if people are mindful when driving. Without fast actions to fix this problem

Isabella Berg Thesis Statement
Kimberlyn Snoddy
Dr. Holly Powe

Alban Berg Not a musical prodigy from birth, but a gifted child, Alban Berg was an innovative
musician bringing forth ideas that would be later seen in music after his death. Berg had
somewhat of a troubled childhood, but that did not stop him from becoming a successful musician.
He was also apart of the Second Viennese school. Alban Berg was a composer whose music broke
tradition and is remembered because of it.
Born in Vienna, Alban Berg was born into a typical middle class Viennese home. He was not an
only child and had three other siblings. During his teenage years, Berg s father passed away.
Afterwards, the family had a difficult time. Berg was not the brightest student in school. ... Show

Wozzeckв€’perhaps the most frequently performed theatrical work in the atonal idom represents
Berg s first attempt to deal within the framework of opera ( Alban Berg 1). He gained
recognition as a composer of international standing but also a degree of financial stability (Jarman
319). A well known work for the violin was the Kammerkonzert. This song demonstrates Berg s
love for intricate formal designs and his interest in using apparently abstract, mathematical
schemes as structural determinants (Jarman 319). The Lyrische Suite for the string quartet was
also one of Berg s compositions. It is the most completely documented demonstration of the
extent to which such extra musical considerations act as compositional determinants (Jarman
319). Jarman says that Kammerkonzert and the Lyrische Suite are songs that mark Berg s
gradual adoption of the 12 note sytem (319). Another famous opera work is Lulu. On one level
Lulu is a number opera consisting ... of a sequence of arias, ensembles, cavatinaas, ballades and
other forms traditionally associated with vocal music, all of them clearly identified by Berg in the
score. (Jarman 321). Violin Concerto was a work of highly personal, emotional content achieved
through the use of 12 tone and other resources symbolic as well as musical ( Alban Berg

Bac2 Enzyme Lab Report
Title: BCAT2
Enzymes the most important role of enzyme is to increase the speed of reactions to the extend that
some reactions are multiplied millions of times in fraction of second. Another factor about enzymes
is that they are not consumed in chemical reaction and much more they don t alter equilibrium of a
reaction .Enzymes can be seen in blood, gastric juices ,saliva, and fluids in the intestines. Enzymes
also function as blood clotting. Branched Chain Amino acid Transaminase 2 (BCAT2) is an
aminotransferase enzyme which uses О± ketoglutarate in a big amount to form branched chain О±
keto acids and glutamate. BCAT2 is found in mitochondrial inner membrane. The structure of
BCAT in humans is consists of two parts: a small subunit and large subunit which are tied by a
short looping connecting region. Each unit consists of four alpha helices and a beta pleated sheet
.The ties in humans are all trans with the exlusion of bond between residues Gly338 Pro339. It ...

These mice illustrate the best example model for studying BCAA metabolism and its toxicity. First,
ENU treated mice were given a BCAA restricted diet after a while it was noticed that some
symptom of human MSUD appear on them : decline in thrive, weakness, hair loss and weight loss.
All these symptoms in comparison with control group provide evidence that there was mutation
that is liable to affect human beings as well. Sequencing of branched chain aminotransferase genes
(Bcat) showed no mutation in the cytoplasmic isoform (Bcat 1) but instead display a homozygous
splice site mutation in the mitochondrial isoform (Bcat 2). The mutation caused a removal of exon
2, an obvious reduction in Bcat 2 mRNA, and a default in pair BCAT 2 proteinand its enzyme

Workplace Discrimination Essay
Without federal defense against workplace discrimination, LGBT workers face day to day
challenges in finding and keeping employment. Instead of being evaluated on their qualifications,
skills, and work ethic, LGBT workers too often face discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation and gender identity. These workers face inequalities in hiring, obstacles in professional
advancement, and even job loss, simply because of who they are or whom they love. Although
discriminationbased on LGBTidentity is currently legal in a majority of states, 9 out of 10 voters
mistakenly believe LGBT workers already have federal protections.
Discrimination and bias figure into nearly every aspect of employment for LGBT Americans, and

Pathos In Nick Naylor
Evaluation
Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for cigarettes. He battles everyone who is anti cigarette. Mr. Naylor runs
into trouble in many different ways for defending the rights of smokers. Along the way, Nick
twists some words and becomes the hot topic on TV and in Hollywood. Nick defends against
many things thrown at him. Things such as a cancer boy, the Marlboro man and even the loss of
his job. Nick Naylor is effective and persuasive in argumentation. Mr. Naylor does a great job
displaying ethos, logos, and pathos. Each one of these appeals are important in the use of
argumentation. Mr. Naylor is also effective with fallacies, and even though what he is saying might
not be true, it is effective. At the beginning of the movie, Nick Naylor uses pathos. In the movie the
anti tobacco people tried to make Nick Naylor the bad guy. They brought out a boy that had
cancer and tried to make him look bad. Pathos specifically is trying to draw the emotion
sympathy out of the audience. The audience was then given an option on who to blame. The
person they chose was Nick. Effectively, Nick Naylor diverted the negative press away from him
and toward the senator s assistant. Even though Nick was being bashed by these people he
maintained his stance. One thing I noticed about Nick is that he always presents himself with a
smile and with a positive message. He effectively uses pathos by using positive vibes and then
drawing them out from the audience. Also at the beginning of the

Barbary Pirates Revolutionary War After the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the United States of America had officially gained their independence after a hard fought and grueling revolution against Great Britain. The new republic was eager to enter the world of global and maritime trade and hoped to maintain and thrive on their newly achieved freedom. Expedition Behavior stems from the overall tone set forth by the leader, however trusting all participants to model the leader s standards is difficult. Both positive and negative expedition behavior may be present on trips. The members of the team must learn to effectively discuss concerns and celebrations as a group in order to inform the entire company of certain situations. Arguing or ignoring requests from the leader results in bad expedition behavior, whereas trusting or conferring anxieties appropriately with the leader usually develops into good expedition behavior. In the case of the climbers on Mount Everest, both examples were present in the varying climbers. Each member struggled with trials and tribulations and the end result paralleled the expedition behavior expressed throughout the tremendously burdensome and laborious journey. The first climber, Tim, displayed bad expedition behavior by arguing and ignoring Russell s commands. To begin with, Tim left from camp twenty minutes later than planned, therefore resulting in a delay of plans. Once Tim had started his trek up the mountain, he was trapped behind an injured climber from another party. One of the earliest Greek records of satire can be traced to around 500 B.C. Satyrs were mythological creatures with the upper half of a man and the bottom half of a goat or horse. Satyr was one of three forms of Athenian drama, nestling comfortably as a new genre alongside tragedy and comedy. Satyr was quickly developed between the writers Pratinas, Aristeas, and Aeschylus. The auto industry has recognized these requirements and desires and manufactures various models to accommodate the customers. Ford is a true innovator in the automobile industry. They have made such headway mainly because they figured out to mass produce their cars quickly, thereby making it affordable to the customer base. There are several factors that customers deem valuable when selecting a Ford automobile: Price Although Ford produces a range of affordable automobiles suitable for every customer, one thing that Ford has done is officially lower the recommended price list on all of its medium and small cars. Causes Of Cuban In The Spanish American War Cuba in the Spanish American War The Spanish American war consisted of a series of influential battles that pitted America and many of Spain s colonies against Spanish rule, and ended with Spain losing its colonies and America gaining control over more and more land. In 1898, America joined a war being pit against Spain to force the Spanish to relinquish all control of their colonies, including Guam, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. It was necessary for the government to establish new controls in Australia during the Second World War in order to control the information being distributed to the public, protect Australian citizens and maintain peace within Australian society. The first example of government control in Australiais censorship. During World War Two, the government controlled the information that was made public to the media. Over 900 000 men left for war which meant women had to take on their roles in order to keep the country going, this was a major change as women usually only stayed at home and never had the opportunity to work. The first example of women s changing role in society was women enlisting in the armed forces. In 1941, the government created three women s services: the Women s Auxiliary Australian Air Force, the Australian Women s Army Service and the Women s Royal Australian Naval Service. This was seen as a way to further deal with the challenges of war as women could take on roles previously occupied by men, such as electricians, aircraft mechanics, clerical assistants, caterers, signallers and more. Women were also able to serve in army hospitals in both Australia and other countries that Australia had fought in. Another example of women s changing role in society during World War Two was the formation of the Australian Women s Land Army. Due to the labour shortage in rural areas, in 1942 the Women s Land Army was established by the government. Over 2000 women joined and they were paid to live and work on farms in isolated areas. Their work included operating farm machinery, growing fruits and vegetables, milking cows, raising pigs and poultry and harvesting crops. The army was promoted as a vital war job and helped deal with the labour shortages in Australia at the time. Evaluation Of An Appraisal Form Evaluating an Appraisal Form In a recent survey, over 50 percent of respondents reported that they believe performance reviews do not provide accurate appraisals of their work, and nearly 25 percent said they dread performance reviews more than anything else (Pulakos, Mueller Hanson, O Leary, Meyrowitz, 2012, p. 8). Negative perceptions of appraisals derive from feelings of being a waste of time or holding no value in the workplace. Organization leadership should develop a thorough evaluation form to combat the pessimistic discernment for performance reviews. The hero follows the road of growth and education until they are ready to pursuit their goals and save the day. Two such heroes journeys are the stories of Will Stronghold in Sky High (2005) and Hercules of Hercules (1997). Both, Will and Hercules, want to be heroes and correlate through the ideals of: lacking of powers, making their fathers proud, and wanting to save the day. Thus, the two films can be assessed through the various social and personal similarities within the film. First, in Sky High, Will is a young freshman attending high school for super teens with both of his parents being crime fighting superheroes. In fact, Will s parents are known as two of the best superheroes in the world, setting a very high standard for Will himself. Super powers in the film are somewhat represented in a similar manner to puberty, as the children usually get them as they grow up. By the first day of class, it is found out that Will doesn t have any superpowers, which sets him as an outcast within the school. Will just wants to have superpowers in order to fit in, as he feels out of place within a school full of superheroes. Eventually, Will begins to accept the fact that he might just be a normal person without powers. Third, customers have twice the likelihood of finding a NestlГ© product rather than an Ice Fili one which illustrates their low product availability. Focusing on their core competency is the solution to gain market share. Financial Analysis With the use of financial ratios the following conclusions were deducted (see exhibit A for calculations). Ice Fili is in good financial position since they are profitable given their positive working capital and no long term debt. • 34. Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Of A Nation Gross Domestic Product Gross domestic product (GDP) of a nation is comprised of four primary components. These components; consumption, investment, government spending and net exports are the measure of the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country s borders in over a given period of time. This can be broken down in any time frame but is normally used quarterly and annually. The GDP can be calculated as; GDP (Y) = consumption (C) + investment (I) + government spending (G) + net exports (NX) or Y=C+I+G+NX. The key word here is finished goods and not all goods. Household consumption, one of the four components of calculating the GDP of a nation has a broad range of items included in it. With the exception of the cost of buying a used house, most all durable and nondurable goods are measured within this. The money a family spends on goods and services include everything from haircuts to education. Durable goods would be vehicles for transportation and all of the items that one buys to furnish a home. Items big and small regardless of brand or cost are factored in this component. If one was to buy and new set of appliances for a kitchen and a broom to sweep the floor, they are both used in this calculation. If one was to save this money for a while longer it would make the overall GDP lower than if the items were purchased. Education is often thought of as an investment in ones future but it is considered consumption by means of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
