Ordinary Life In Man s Search For Meaning
In Man s Search for Meaning, Viktor E. Frankl recounts the exceptionally individual story of his
experience as a detainee in an inhumane imprisonment amid the Holocaust. He displays this story as a
paper in which he shares his contentions and examination as a specialist and therapist and also a
previous detainee. This paper will audit Frankl s story and additionally his principle contentions, and
will assess the nature of Frankl s written work and spotlight on any regions of shortcoming inside of
the story. This area contains a rundown of Man s Search. Frankl starts his book by expressing that his
motivation in composing the book is not to present certainties and subtle elements of the Holocaust,
however to give an individual record of the ordinary life of a detainee living in a death camp. He
expresses, This story is not worried with the colossal detestations, which have as of now been
portrayed regularly enough (however less frequently accepted), yet... it will attempt to answer this
inquiry: How was ordinary life in a death camp reflected in the normal s psyche detainee? (21). Frankl
then goes ahead to depict the three phases of a detainee s mental responses to being held hostage in a
death camp. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and confused, makes it troublesome for the normal peruser to see precisely what he is stating. A
peruser can without much of a stretch get disappointed when attempting to decode the writer s
significance because of excessively confused dialect, and this is a third shortcoming of Frankl s

Jay Gatsby Flaws
Talk about the American dream. What some people see as creating a better life through hard work and
determination, F. Scott Fitzgerald keenly discerns as being materialistic gain. He demonstrates this
through his characters and uses their actions to show their selfish desire that eventually leads to ruin.
Fitzgerald ridicules the American dream through the characters in his work The Great Gatsby. He uses
Jay Gatsby as a modern twist on the classic tragic hero to show us how Gatsby s American dream is
flawed.
Jay Gatsby, being who the story is named after is a very good example of the American dream. He
also represents what most people living in 1920s America were striving for, notably, he has become so
rich that he throws extravagant parties almost every night. Although Gatsby is seen as being
successful, Fitzgerald ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for Gatsby s failure becomes apparent after looking at what he wants. In the story, Gatsby
comes from a poor family where he greatly felt he didn t belong. His parents were farmers and he had
never really accepted them as his [family] (Fitzgerald 98). He eventually changes his name from
James Gatz to Jay Gatsby distancing himself from his poor background showing his motivation to
escape through hard work and determination. Gatsby took every opportunity he could to make a better
life for himself. From when he abruptly followed Dan Cody out to sea to on his yacht that represented
all the beauty and glamour in the world , to when he enlisted in the army to fight honorably (100). But
no where is his pursuit of wealth more obvious than in his love for Daisy. Daisy, compared to Gatsby,
was everything he longed for; she had the wealth and social status that came along with being born
into a rich family. Gatsby loved Daisy not because of who she was, but because she was the
manifestation of his dreams. After he gets back from the war and she is married to Tom he knows that

The Nature And Activity Of God Essay
Reading for Week # 4
Question 1: What did I learn about the nature and activity of God? I don t generally believe that God
speaks directly to me, but this summer some things have happened to me that cannot be explained
except to say some type of divine intervention took place. One of these things that happened was God
changed my long held view that I had. I myself was once a young earth creationist even though my
father (a retired Southern Baptist minister), did not believe in a strict interpretation of the 6 days of
creation. My thoughts have changed on this topic after Dr. Fiensy s OT research class this summer.
While doing research for my OT, paper I found an enormous amount of research done on the gap
theory of Genesis 1:1 3. The Hebrew wording in Genesis 1:2 leaves the possibility of an immeasurable
amount of time transacting between verse 1 and 3 (page 144 DTIB). I believe that the Holy Spirit has
led me to this revelation in my own personal walk with the Lord. I believe for me this is one of those
moments where I have experienced growth that has moved me closer in my relationship with God. I
agree that the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts of creation definitely counteract the pagan Myths of
creation (page 144 DTIB). The epic of Gilgamesh seems to share some similar words and concepts,
but Genesis 1 reminds us that all these things created were created by one God. I believe God
constructed the scriptural stories (like the ones found in Genesis 1 11) in such a way

What Is The Role Of Health Care In Canada
Healthcare in United States and Canada
Judith Amang
South University
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), passed in 2010, shared responsibility between the government,
employers, and individuals to make sure that all Americans have access to affordable and good quality
health insurance. Nevertheless, health coverage is divided, with several private and public sources, as
well as wide gaps in insured rates across the U.S. population. Medicare and Medicaid Services , a
federal program for adults 65 and older and some people with disabilities, works in collaboration with

Census Bureau, 2015). The ACA is expected to reduce the number of uninsured by 24 million by

and newborn care, mental health services, substance use disorder treatment, prescription drugs,
rehabilitative services, devices, laboratory services, preventive and wellness services, chronic disease
management, and pediatric services, as well as dental and vision care (Congressional Budget Office,
2015).
Medicare provides coverage for hospitalization, physician services, and, through a voluntary
supplementary program, prescription drugs. The program also has abolished cost sharing for a number
of preventive services. Medicare offers a choice between traditional Medicare, which is open network
and pays a fee for a basis service, and Medicare Advantage, under which the federal government pays
a private insurer for a network based plan. Medicaid, on the other hand, provides more extensive long
term care coverage. In addition, Medicaid covers a wide variety of services, including hospitalization
and physician services, with certain optional benefits vary by state.
Canada has a national health insurance program NHI (a government run health insurance system
covering the whole population for a well defined medical benefits package). Health insurance
coverage is universal. General taxes, finance NHI through a single payer

Disparity In Urban Public Schools
Significance of the gap
In California, the academic achievement of low income minority students in urban public schools falls
behind the academic achievement of white students in higher income areas. For example, according to
the 2013 STAR test results, 86% of white non economically disadvantaged 9th graders at Antelope
High School, in the Roseville Unified School District, attained advanced scores in reading compared
to only 58% of low income Black and 49% Hispanic ninth graders (California Department of
Education, 2015).
Information needed: understanding causes and effects of the problem
Funding: Although the issue of disparity in per pupil funding has received attention in California,
significant differences in the amount of money spent on students across this state still persist. For
example, the Roseville Joint Unified School District spends an average of $7,330 per student whereas
an adjacent district, Twin Rivers Unified, spends $9,062 per student (California Watch, 2011).
Disparities in funding, such as this, leave students in urban schools with poorer resources, which
ultimately hinders their academic progress. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forming connections with schools helps parents promote their students achievement since it allows
them to access valuable resources. However, racially diverse parents from low socioeconomic
backgrounds exhibit less involvement in their children s schools because of things such as language

schools are Black or Hispanic, these schools tend to have less parental involvement (Lee Bowen,

Capital Leases and Operating Leases Essay
ACCT 3303 | CAPITAL LEASE vs. OPERATING LEASE | |
Dr. Serge Ryno
ACCT 3303
December 2, 2011
Capital Lease vs. Operating Lease Firms often choose to lease long term assets rather than buy them
for a variety of reasons including the tax benefits that are greater to the lessor than the lessees and
leases offer more flexibility in terms of adjusting to changes in technology and capacity needs. Lease
payments create the same kind of obligation that interest payments on debt create, and have to be
viewed in a similar light. If a firm is allowed to lease a significant portion of its assets and keep it off
its financial statements, an examination of the statements will give a very misleading view of the
company s financial strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The better the financials look, the easier it is to get needed financing in the future. Since there is no
ownership involved, operating leases offer a great deal of flexibility. For example, a small business
doesn t need to worry about equipment becoming obsolete. A company can simply lease newer
equipment. The ability to directly expense leasing costs provides some accounting benefit. When a
company owns an asset, accounting rules dictate that the property, plant or equipment must be
depreciated and held on the balance sheet for the asset s useful life. In effect, this ties up the company
s cash flow and leverages the company to financiers. Operating leases are not subject to these
constraints. One disadvantage of entering an operating lease involves the higher level of expenses
reported. Businesses who enter operating leases record a lease expense for each period throughout the
duration of the lease. These expenses appear on the company s income statement. The income
statement reports the revenues earned for the period, the expenses incurred and the net income for the
period. Operating leases represent temporary arrangements between the lessor and the company. When
the lease expires, the terms of that lease become void. The lessor and the company spend time
renegotiating the terms or ending the relationship. The company needs to reconsider the lease and
evaluate its options on a regular basis. This lack of continuity

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor E. Frankl s novel Man s Search for Meaning is a novel founded on the personal journey of
Viktor and how he discovered his meaning in life. In the course of his discovery of the meaning of life
he decides to hopefully help those in pain and sufferings find their meaning as well. The book entails
tragedy and extreme misfortune in Auschwitz concentration camp as a captive; yet through this pain
and suffering is where Viktor Frankl originated his will to persevere and psychological techniques for
survival.
Throughout Viktor E. Frankl s book Man s Search for Meaning mental, physical, and emotional
torture and attack impressed on the prisoners in the Auschwitz concentration camp was a regular and
familiar topic. The accompanying guards kept shouting at us and driving us with the butts of their
rifles. Anyone with very sore feet supported himself on his neighbor s arm. Hardly a word was
spoken; the icy wind did not encourage talk. (Page #37) If I was compelled to experience an
organization or group of authorities that I had no rights or privileges whatsoever, while enduring the
harsh realities of nature s weather, and facing weapons intended to take my life and the lives around
me, I would most likely be in survival mode and be focused on trying to be as composed and
camouflaged as possible. It is admirable how the prisoners in this recollection from Viktor are thinking
of one another as well as themselves by assisting their fellow man in survival as well. I would like

The Disabled And Mentally Disabled Youth Transitioning For...
Many physically and mentally disabled youth transitioning to adults experience improper health care,
usually as a result of socio economic status and/or misdiagnosis by medical professionals. As these
children grow to adulthood, the in depth healthcare they received before dwindles, if not already, cuts
off completely. The highest rates of this phenomenon are among the disabled children of minorities.
Predominantly due to the high rate of individuals having no insurance coverage, along with other
socio economic reasons such as low income, gender, and housing demographics. Other disparities in
individuals health are the improper treatment by healthcare providers and the healthcare system. These
inequalities leave many young people with disabilities stranded without their fundamental needs for
proper care. Disability affects approximately 56.7 million or nearly 1 in 5 (18.7%) people alone in the
United States (Brault). These numbers include anyone with a long term physical, mental, intellectual
or sensory (e.g. blindness or deafness) disabilities. On Dec. 3, 2014 the Disability Inclusions Act was
passed to make sure those with a disability have equal access to participate in activities as all able
bodied individuals do. The Disability Act was also an attempt to promote healthy lifestyles through
nutrition and routine exercise. Another National Act passed to help protect the disabled community is

Teens, or girls in general read this magazine, and by placing an ad such as this in the magazine would
generally boost sales. Another aspect of this ad that would commonly appeal to the teen age group
would have been the choice of colors, and the background of the advertisement.
As far as background goes, historical background is also relatively important in the relevance of the TI
83+ silver edition graphing calculator advertisement. Teens have many choices when it comes to
graphing calculators, so that is probably why the author chose to include a feature that not all
calculators have. The phonebook feature would appeal greatly to the viewer, hence its purpose. This
particular feature, the phonebook, would be of importance because in the past no calculator including
all other Texas Instruments calculators has offered such a feature.
The Texas Instruments advertisement also allows the viewer to make assumptions in relation to the
pictures and text displayed on the page. These assumptions could be anything from the approximate
cost of the tool, to the pondering of the ray of colors used in the composition of the calculator itself.
These different conjectures are made due to the actual composition of the advertisement itself.
Then comes the purpose of the advertisement. The advertisement is presented to show the viewer what
a unique tool the TI 83+ silver edition is, and what new features are included in the calculator. Another

Chemical Synthesis Essay
The TG DSC MS results show that the gas phases play an important role in the mechanism behind the
sol gel autocombustion process. Different fuel oxidant ratios will promote the formation of different
gas components, which will significantly affect the composition and structure of the final product. To
optimize the fuel oxidant ratio, reagents with different fuel oxidant ratios (0.8:1, 0.9:1, 1:1, 1.1:1, and
1.2:1) were dissolved in deionized water to obtain the sols. The dried gels were then activated by
combustion at a temperature of 300 °C based on the TG DSC MS results. The XRD patterns obtained
for the synthesized CoCrCuNiAl HEAs powders are shown in Figure 1d. Oxide phase was detected in

(i) different metal oxides are reduced to metals by the reducing gases and then form HEAs as the
building blocks. (ii) different metal oxides form complex multicomponent oxides, followed by in situ
reduction to HEAs by the reducing gases. According to thermodynamics, it is impossible to obtain
metallic aluminum and chromium in the autocombustion process because Al2O3 and Cr2O3 cannot be
reduced to metals by any type of the gases formed in the combustion. Therefore, the synthesis of
CoCrCuNiAl HEAs is through the second route. Recently, (Co,Cu,Mg,Ni,Zn)O high entropy oxides
(HEOs) were synthesized by pyrolyzing nitrates of the individual metals according to the report of
Sarkar et al.25 Similar with HEAs, HEOs containing five or more metals in equiatomic amounts will
be formed because of the high mixing entropy. Hence, the oxide phase in the XRD patterns of the
combustion product with fuel oxidant ratios less than 1:1 is likely to be (Co,Cr,Cu,Ni,Al)O HEO. In
the HEOs, the metallic elements are bonded together and ordered in thermodynamics to form the
structure of A B C D E O (where A, B, C, D, and E denote the metallic elements and O represents
oxygen), as shown in Figure 1f. There is always an intermediate anion separating neighboring cation
lattice sites, and no single component metal oxide phases exist in the (Co,Cr,Cu,Ni,Al)O HEOs, so
that the reduction of Al3+ and Cr3+ can

Colors, Letters and Numbers Essay
Colors, Letters and Numbers. The three things that have been with us from infancy, to adolescence
until now. No one ever thought that the symbols that were on our building blocks would symbolize
what they do today. The movie Colors glorified bloods (red) and crips (blue) to some extent. It made a
lot of teens and younger kids want to be apart of a gang because it seems cool, or maybe they just had
nothing else better to do. The whole gang theme seems to be catching on through out all aspects of
life. There are even reports of a homosexual gang that wears the rainbow as their calling card. There

We need our own brand of Genocide to combat these gangs and secure our future.
Before I could dive into the gang sub culture I had to ask the obvious question. What is a gang? A
gang is a group of people who want to be seen as different from others and want others to perceive
them as a distinct group. This group is organized, has leadership, and is committing criminal acts in
the community. Gangs have been in existence for as long as there have been inhabitants of this world.
Even the word Thug dates back to India in 1200 Ad as a word they used to describe a gang of
criminals. In the United States we grew up with a different kind of thug, like pirates and gangsters,
therefore, gangs, undoubtedly, are not a new concept. For decades, these gangsters weren t thought of
as all that bad. In fact they may have been loved by the community, or the public as a whole. I feel this
is a major part of the reason why teens join gangs. The Media glorification of Al Capone and Lucky
Luciano made men like Elliot Ness seem like one of the bad guys. Being apart of something bigger
than them maybe also what attracts teens to gangs. Just the thought of being a part of something
bigger than them makes some teens salivate. Teens who come from houses where there might be an
adult with a drug problem or something of that nature are more prone to join a gang than someone
who lives with both parents in a somewhat normal home. The family aspect of the gang is almost like

Over the past few years, pit bulldogs have been a great concern because of the dog mauling incidents.
In the San Francisco Chronicle, it revealed that Denver had passed laws to control certain breeds in
dogs to ensure the safety for the people. Canada as well took action. They decided to ban the pit

Title: Mystery discoveries
We all love to think about what else could be out there that we don t know about. We love mysteries.
And when we get a glimpse of something mysterious, we are intrigued and want to learn more. On
some special occasions, you get a glimpse of something truly mysterious. For example, in 2013, an
Iranian vessel found the dead carcass of an unknown sea creature in the Persian Gulf. Now, three years
later, people are still coming up with theories on what it could be. It has remained an exciting mystery
for us all during these past few years.
Let s take a look at some more mysteries!

At the time it was found, it was floating very close to an oil rig. This might mean something, and it

In most pictures, it s difficult to realize just how massive this thing is. Here, you can see its
enormousness compared to the ship and the people investigating the mass. It s huge! It s crazy to see
how big some of the creatures in the ocean are. We don t always get to see them because they are
always hidden under the water, but when we do get to see them, it s awesome. The people on this boat
must have been thrilled to see a creature this big so close up and personal! It must have been a very
exciting day.

When this carcass was found, it was floating just at the top of the water. It would undulate with the

organization. I will also be evaluating their leadership techniques and how the owners assist in the day
to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is important
for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. Managers must
study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals.
Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface
between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012) We can
divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the
organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into specific groups.
The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

Farrelly Brothers Theme
1. Subject/Theme Undoubtedly considered one of the most popular and successful romantic comedies
of all time, There s Something about Mary by the Farrelly Brothers, was, for the most part, acclaimed
by both critics and audiences. As a romantic comedy, the deepest and most underlying subject/theme
of the film has to be love, yet there are so many layers of lesser subjects and themes that collectively
contribute to the ultimate theme of love that it s a wonder how it all comes together so effortlessly.
The statement that the film makes about the subject of love is that it is both fickle and everlasting at
the same time; fickle, because one small injury like the one Ted experienced on the day of his high
school prom where his genitals got caught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the end, because of all these separate elements of the film which came together effortlessly, viewers
are able to relate to Ted in a way that directors and producers wanted all along, allowing for maximum
emotional effect to take place, which subsequently allows viewers to relate to the film as a whole,

Pros And Cons Of Pelagianism
In the years following 400 AD, the ideas of the monk Pelagius spawned a heresy that still affects
people of the church today. Pelagianism holds that a man can take the initial and fundamental steps
toward salvation by his own efforts, apart from God s Divine Grace (Slick). In a nutshell, Pelagius
heresy states that man doesn t need help from God to be able to live a holy life and to get into heaven.
Despite the heresy seeming to have nearly died out, it merely evolved into smaller actions that allow it
to slowly take hold of our lives. As Thomas Aquinas once stated, heresies are a species of unbelief,
and like other species, heresies like pelagianism will adapt in order to survive. Pope Francis made the
comments he did about Pelagianism to make it known how it can sneak into our lives and, in addition,
presents how we personally can avoid any further confusion.
While Pelagianism may have began many years ago, it still has a large enough influence to cause Pope
Francis to speak out against it today. Pope Francis has came out and said that it s not soul searching or
constant introspection that we encounter the Lord, [but living our lives] going ... Show more content

Francis did the exact opposite and recognizes Pelagianism as a issue within the Church. The Holy
Father shines the light back on this heresy and presents how Christians today are not knowingly
having beliefs that are Pelagianistic. To help clear confusion, Pope Francis shows us how we can t
solely rely on ourselves for salvation and that we can always find help through God. We have to
remember that if Jesus did not die for our sins, we would not have the chance to enter Heaven. So if
we take God out of salvation, then why would have Jesus died to save us from our

Milton Hershey s Accomplishments
Milton Hershey once said, If I ever become rich, I am going to use my money to build schools to give
every boy and girl an opportunity to get an education (Quotes Said by Milton Hershey). These words
reflected how Milton Hershey felt about education because he was uneducated and forced to drop out.
Hershey knew from that point on that he wanted to help others get educated. The Hershey Company
helped him achieve these goals. Milton Hershey always has a passion for candy making, and he
fulfilled his dream by becoming one of the most successful chocolate entrepreneurs. He used his
wealth to create a school for orphaned boys and helped anyone in need.
Milton Hershey was born on September 13, 1857 in Derry Township, Pennsylvania to Henry Hershey
and Veronica Fanny Snavely. Milton had one younger sister named Serina Hershey, who had died of
scarlet fever when she was four (Milton S. Hershey). Veronica was the daughter of Bishop Abraham

The Small Claims Procedure Essay
The Small Claims Procedure
The small claims procedure is regulated by RSA 503 in 1973. It is a simple, speedy, and informal
method by which an individual appears before a judge of the district or municipal court, presents his
or her claim, and explains why another person or business owes money to him or her. Small Claims
Court can award up to $5000 in damages (larger claims can be heard, but the maximum that can be
awarded is $5000).
Although not required in Small Claims Court, any persons or businesses involved in the proceedings
may be represented by a lawyer if they wish. Another aspect of a small claims proceeding is that a
judge may ask to hear any evidence deemed relevant and proper, since ... Show more content on

The system is still largely used by small businesses chasing debtors, rather than by the individual
consumer for whom it was set up. A consultation paper was issued in 1995 suggesting that, in limited
cases; the judge might be given the power to award an additional sum of up to £135 to cover the cost
of legal advice and assistance in the preparation of the case. I think this idea would really be useful for
claimants, and this would give a huge encouragement to the claimants to come to the court. Especially
for those who cannot actually afford to hire their own lawyer.
Either party may have a lawyer to represent him or her, but this is discouraged by the fact that the
winning party cannot claim back the cost of using a lawyer form the other party, but will have to pay
his own legal expenses. Instead of having a lawyer, the claimant or the defendant may have a lay
representative , that is, a non legally qualified person, with him or her at the hearing to help to put the
case.
The system is meant to be quick, but there can still be delays. Although the intention is that the case
should only go to court once, there may be several hearings because one of the parties is not ready; for
example, they have

Phonology
1 Introduction: Phonology is the study of how sounds function within a given language. The study of
English phonology for our purposes can be divided into two broad approaches: segmental and
suprasegmental. Segmental phonology is a bottom up view of phonology which deals with the
individual sounds which make a difference to meaning. These are called phonemes and their effect can
be seen clearly in the following example: * Red (colour). * Read (past tense of the verb to read). *
Read (present tense of the verb to read). The pronunciation of 1 and 2 is the same; they are
homophones. The spelling of 2 and 3 is the same; they are homographs. All three examples are made

Flu Epidemic with special reference to its impact on South African society.
Victims of the Spanish flu epidemic suffered from an acute infection in the respiratory system. The
virus itself takes its form in droplets exposed to the air, which could then be transferred from person to

Movements for Social Change in an Integrated Global...
Income inequality between the rich and the poor continues to be a significant concern in the United
States, prompting national headlines and serious political debate regarding governmental policy.
Historically, economies based on capitalism tend to have a pro business stance, implementing pro
business policies to spur economic growth (Zinn, 2010). The typical role of the labor union has been
to help improve economic equality between workers and the companies that employ them; however,
unions have also helped their members pursue political action and influence the electoral process to

For example, child labor produces goods in sweatshops located in developing countries; goods that
make their way into the supply chains of major multinational retailers (McDougall, 2008). In addition,
when work moves to developing countries, there is an impact on the workers in developed countries
that lose their jobs to lower cost labor pools; namely costs that are transferred to the public sector like
unemployment or retraining for workers (Bibby, 2004). To more effectively deal with issues raised by
multinationals operating in an integrated global economy, there are a growing number of international
labor organizations including UNI Global Union, a global union that represents 900 trade unions and
20 million workers ( UNI Global Union, 2011). There are several advantages in using a global,
federated approach to labor unions, namely a larger pool of workers that provide the basis for union
influence, greater coordination on issues that span national boundaries and the resulting ability to
influence the policy and business decisions of large multinationals. The most significant disadvantage
to a global, federated approach to unions is the increased scope and complexity of problem that arises
from the requirement to represent a large diverse constituency with diverse needs. For instance, in the
case of outsourced jobs, the recipients of new jobs may not

Birth Order And Personality Development
For many years, birth order was noted as a distinguishable characteristic in determining the
personality of child. In the early 1900s, when Alfred Adler first established the concept of birth order,
he became the first theorist to give a new dimension to personality development. Not only did he look
at the influence parents had on personality development but the influence of siblings and the
biological position each of them grew up within their family (Boeree, 2006). Adler identified five
fundamental positions in which a child would be categorized into based on their birth order. These are;
the first born child, the second born child, the middle child, the youngest child and the only child.
Murphy (2012), acknowledges that there are two types of birth order, actual and psychological. Actual
birth order is the order in which a child is born into the world, whereas psychological birth order is the
position in which the child perceives him or herself to be in the family. Since the inception of the birth

Abstract
This study examines effects that modern technology/media influence on students and family
dynamics. Most of us do not need the results of a nationwide report to recognize that media have
become an indispensable component and major influence in our everyday lives. A powerful tool, that
contemporary society uses not only to entertain but also to communicate and educate, there is an ever
present availability to media access. However, there is an ongoing debate over whether or not the
power of this influence and its ubiquitous availability yields positive or negative consequences in
different aspects of our lives.

Interest Groups And Their Influence On Public Policy
Interest groups are organized to create an influence in governmental policies. Interest groups abide by
three structures: interest groups share common interests and goals, they are an organized structure, and
they desire to influence public policy. Interest groups come in many different sizes and backgrounds
but all are important to representatives and reelections. Interest groups typically release documents
with representative report cards to indicate how well or not a representative is voting in Congress to
that specific interest group s standards. According to Congress and Its Members, members of
Congress may face a primary challenge in the next election if their voting strays to far from their
promises and pledges to certain issues. Report cards are based off of the members roll call voting and
is based on a scale from zero to one hundred. The scores also affect whether or not a member of
Congress will receive support and financial aid during campaigns. There can be plentiful of issues to
worry about when casting a vote as a member of Congress. The scores can positively and negatively
affect a member especially if a member is trying to win reelection (Davidson, 1981). These scores are
not used to indicate whether an interest group favors a representative and is also not an indicator of
whether or not a representative is working for an interest group. Through the use of interest group
ratings, political scientists can determine how Representative Loretta Sanchez,

Examples Of Confucianism In The True Story Of Ah Q
The late nineteenth century to the early twentieth was an important period for China, in which a large
number of reformers and revolutionaries, in the hope of changing the old China, struggled to make
China powerful and stable. The voice of abandoning Confucianism grew stronger and stronger, which
they contended that it was Confucian that hindered the development of Chinese. Just take Lu Xun for
example. He argued that Confucianism was the man eating manners , which gave birth to those who
just cared about themselves without any conscience of protecting their family. Moreover, Lu Xun put
forward that China should learn from the Western. Another example is Hu Shi. He extremely called

The prominent character of him was self deceiving and self important, which exactly reflected the
farmer s ideas at that time. He was not only the symbol of the poor proletarian but also a farmer
suppressed by authority. In addition, he did not have a name at all, and the only name he got was
deprived by Mr. Zhao.
The method that Ah Q most often used was spirit victory. That was kind of expression of self
deceiving. For example, when he was beaten, he comforted himself by using Son hit his father .
Moreover, while other people teased him that he was poor, he argued that my ancestors were richer
than yours. His characters, in essence, were devoid of self awareness. He judged people with his own
standard, where anything that not conform to his standard would be wrong.
From this novel, Lu Xun seriously criticized the social reality at that time when people were self
deceiving, who always took themselves as the center of the world. The attitude of Lu Xun toward
farmers was that on the one hand, he felt sympathetic to them. On the other hand, he hated that they
did not fight for themselves. With his sharp pen, he analyzed the reason why the farmers always lag
behind others, while showing sympathy to them. Meanwhile, he tempted to use his novel to warn
Chinese reformers, although May Fourth movement awakened a part of Chinese people like students,
most Chinese peasants were still ignorant and

Designing A Final Portfolio Mobile Application
This section of the design document will focus on the user experience, GUI design standards as well
as components that address mobile accessibility standards. The images below are design for the
mobile application specifically. The following designs will be different from the above screens shots
that reflect the desktop and tablet designs. For a portfolio website trying to get as much qualification
information about the subject is limited due to a search engine optimization to restrain text to not
scroll. Therefore, the information will have to be added after project is finalized to become a final
portfolio mobile application. Mrs. Schachinger refers there are pros and cons of infinite scroll and
mobile development. Time is changing very quickly along with accessibility standards. The infinite
scroll pro are not limited to ease of pagination, fast access, less clicks and good for web explorers
(Search Engine Watch, Feb 2015). If a site is developed for goal oriented tasks, infinite scroll could
hinder the development along with the following drawbacks, memory issues, page speed, scrollbar
issues and usability , are some examples of possible issues with infinite scroll .
Lazy loading could help load mobile pages with abundance of content can be loaded while the first
page is still loading or mobile user was still reading current content. To concentrate on the design
layout to take this no scroll into effect makes for a harder mobile design, but easier for tablet

Making The Game Chased By Snakes As Part Of The Group...
Introduction
This report will look back on the group project to make the game Chased by Snakes as part of the
group Danger Noodle. This will look back at how the group managed the project with a flat structure
and relaxed development deadlines and how this affected the final project. The report will then look at
the requirements set by the client, and how these were finalised for implementation. Then the
implementation of the project will be discussed looking back on how the features were put into the
game. Lastly the report will reflect back on how the project went as a whole and what could be
improved in the future.
Methodology
For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a system
akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project manager, and
instead the thing keeping people on track was their self motivation to complete the project. To aid with
completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from the requirements, and
then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for the year. The main
reason such a free and unstructured approach was taken was that the group had worked together
before using the idea and so it was known to work. The second reason it was used was to allow
members of the group to focus on this project when they had time and focus on other university units
when needed.
The first problem with the unstructured

Pride In Shakespeare s Othello
As Toba Beta once said, Pride is the mother of arrogance . Pride can cause anyone to overvalue
themselves and lose sight of the truth. In Othello s case, his pride puts himself on a pedestal. When
Iago challenges this by suggesting that Desdemona cheats on him, he slowly loses his confidence and
becomes weak and insecure. Iago vaguely warns him to not become jealous of Cassio, and Othello s
fragile ego once again causes him to let his mind get the best of him. In Shakespeare s Othello,
Othello s pride leads to his downfall in order to show that too much confidence eventually leads to
emotional self destruction. In the beginning acts, Othello is depicted as a very strong and confident
man. When Iago reveals to Othello that Brabantio is angry about his relationship with Desdemona,
Othello continues to be confident and believe that he belongs with Desdemona. Othello shows his
confidence by saying that his [...] parts, my title, and my perfect soul / Shall manifest me rightly
(I.ii.36 37). This shows that Othello has the strength to continue fighting for Desdemona, although her
father does not support the relationship. Othello s pride causes him to believe that because of his legal
status and positive personality, Brabantio will accept him as Desdemona s partner. Although he is
incorrect, his theory proves that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello is strong and confident, yet allows Iago s lies to destroy him. Throughout the play, Othello s
pride and self esteem slowly diminishes because he let Iago get the best of him. Telling Othello that
Desdemona is cheating on him causes him to become insecure because he does not want to lose his
dignity. Othello s self destruction was caused by his loss of pride as the acts go on. Pride causes
people to believe they are superior, so and when something negative happens it sets them off track. It
is important to not let pride get in the way of everyday situations as it did for

Cajun American Culture
Death of Cajun America Most historical landmarks that once stood in Lafayette stands in ruins as the
lack of funding to preserve them is spent elsewhere. Along with the modern culture redefining
celebrations such as Mardi Gras to be a revenue income for the state. The true meaning will never be
the same. The culture can be traced back to its routes with the people who once celebrated the event.
But with more job in the area requiring English to be spoken. The native tongue has been ripped out of
the land. Leaving the language and culture to suffer with no one to translate written documents that
pertain to recreating it. Cajun Culture and the Cajun language has been slowly fading away like a
distant memory someone dwells on. Lack of effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people
who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006).
Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language
that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the
number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished
for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make
English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children
to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were
raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia
of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own.
If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. Some say that they
were to write 100 times so they won t speak it again or get hit on their knuckles with a stick (paulet in
Cajun French). This leads to Cajun French to fade away. It was not till 1968 when CODOFIL (Council
for the Development of French in Louisiana) that was made to bring French back in the schools

Case Study Sterling
This experience was definitely not what I expected it to be; Sterling is a small town and it always
seems like there is nothing to do. However, not I see that it is looking to expand and incorporate many
modern ideas into the old fashioned community. In addition, I did not realize how many crucial issues
the Council deals with on a daily basis (i.e. the marijuana bill). Although Sterling may be a smaller
town, but a lot of government and other proceedings go on actively. Moreover, I expected a much
longer meeting both times. The first time I understand there was not much to talk about; however,
even for all the things covered in the second meeting, it went relatively fast. Maybe if I had stayed for
the work session it would seem longer. Secondly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the level of government responsible. We had a discussion over this early in the course and I
got the full understanding after attending these meetings. For example, the marijuana selling bill came
up at the first meeting I attended. It is legal in the state of Colorado to sell marijuana; however, if you
local county/city/etc. does not permit it, you are not allowed to. This is the case in Sterling, but it may
soon change. The second concept I witnessed when attending these meeting was voter, or public,
participation. As I stated before, not many people attended the first meeting. Maybe two rows of chair
were filled total. If more people were involved with their local governments, more actions could be
completed and things could be done quicker. I am going to encourage more people I know to attend
these meetings, not only for the publics sake but also for their own knowledge and awareness. Finally,
I witnessed many tax and other budget issues being handled and contemplated at the meetings. For
example, the City Manager Saling talked about the sales tax is still on a steady incline that is likely to
continue. He encouraged the public to be aware and watch this so they can adjust their personal
budgets. In addition, the budget issue appeared again with the marijuana bill. The Council

Alfred Russel Wallace And His Modern Biogeographical Legacy
Special Assignment
There s No Place Like Home: Alfred Russel Wallace and His Modern Biogeographical Legacy was
presented by Lynne R. Parenti, Ph.D, on April 17,2015. Dr. Parenti presented in University of Hawaii
at Manoa s BioMed building in Room B 103 at 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Dr. Lynne Parenti is a curator of
museum fishes at the National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian Institution. I chose to
attend this presentation because the field of biogeography seemed interesting as well as the history of
biogeography.
Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped
Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology
predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a
remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two
distinct faunas the Indo Malayan Biotic Area and the Australian Biotic Area that were separated by a
demarcation that was later named Wallace s Line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parenti states that there are three principals to biogeography: endemism, terrain fidelity, and area
classification. In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are predicted by using maps.
Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic species, biogeologist use the comparative
method. The comparative method compares animals found in certain biotas. She further explains that
there are two mechanisms that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr. Parenti
adds that she is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the movement
within an endemic area, but there are no generation

I don t generally believe that God speaks directly to me, but this summer some things have happened to me that cannot be explained except to say some type of divine intervention took place. One of these things that happened was God changed my long held view that I had. I myself was once a young earth creationist even though my father (a retired Southern Baptist minister), did not believe in a strict interpretation of the 6 days of creation. My thoughts have changed on this topic after Dr. Fiensy s OT research class this summer. While doing research for my OT, paper I found an enormous amount of research done on the gap theory of Genesis 1:1 3. The Hebrew wording in Genesis 1:2 leaves the possibility of an immeasurable amount of time transacting between verse 1 and 3 (page 144 DTIB). I believe that the Holy Spirit has led me to this revelation in my own personal walk with the Lord. I believe for me this is one of those moments where I have experienced growth that has moved me closer in my relationship with God. I agree that the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts of creation definitely counteract the pagan Myths of creation (page 144 DTIB). The epic of Gilgamesh seems to share some similar words and concepts, but Genesis 1 reminds us that all these things created were created by one God. • 9. Capital Leases and Operating Leases Essay ACCT 3303 | CAPITAL LEASE vs. OPERATING LEASE | | Dr. Serge Ryno ACCT 3303 December 2, 2011 Capital Lease vs. Operating Lease Firms often choose to lease long term assets rather than buy them for a variety of reasons including the tax benefits that are greater to the lessor than the lessees and leases offer more flexibility in terms of adjusting to changes in technology and capacity needs. Lease payments create the same kind of obligation that interest payments on debt create, and have to be viewed in a similar light. If a firm is allowed to lease a significant portion of its assets and keep it off its financial statements, an examination of the statements will give a very misleading view of the company s financial strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The better the financials look, the easier it is to get needed financing in the future. Since there is no ownership involved, operating leases offer a great deal of flexibility. For example, a small business doesn t need to worry about equipment becoming obsolete. A company can simply lease newer equipment. The ability to directly expense leasing costs provides some accounting benefit. When a company owns an asset, accounting rules dictate that the property, plant or equipment must be depreciated and held on the balance sheet for the asset s useful life. In effect, this ties up the company s cash flow and leverages the company to financiers. Operating leases are not subject to these constraints. One disadvantage of entering an operating lease involves the higher level of expenses reported. Businesses who enter operating leases record a lease expense for each period throughout the duration of the lease. These expenses appear on the company s income statement. The income statement reports the revenues earned for the period, the expenses incurred and the net income for the period. Operating leases represent temporary arrangements between the lessor and the company. When the lease expires, the terms of that lease become void. The lessor and the company spend time renegotiating the terms or ending the relationship. The company needs to reconsider the lease and evaluate its options on a regular basis. This lack of continuity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many physically and mentally disabled youth transitioning to adults experience improper health care, usually as a result of socio economic status and/or misdiagnosis by medical professionals. As these children grow to adulthood, the in depth healthcare they received before dwindles, if not already, cuts off completely. The highest rates of this phenomenon are among the disabled children of minorities. Predominantly due to the high rate of individuals having no insurance coverage, along with other socio economic reasons such as low income, gender, and housing demographics. Other disparities in individuals health are the improper treatment by healthcare providers and the healthcare system. Different fuel oxidant ratios will promote the formation of different gas components, which will significantly affect the composition and structure of the final product. To optimize the fuel oxidant ratio, reagents with different fuel oxidant ratios (0.8:1, 0.9:1, 1:1, 1.1:1, and 1.2:1) were dissolved in deionized water to obtain the sols. The dried gels were then activated by combustion at a temperature of 300 °C based on the TG DSC MS results. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (i) different metal oxides are reduced to metals by the reducing gases and then form HEAs as the building blocks. (ii) different metal oxides form complex multicomponent oxides, followed by in situ reduction to HEAs by the reducing gases. According to thermodynamics, it is impossible to obtain metallic aluminum and chromium in the autocombustion process because Al2O3 and Cr2O3 cannot be reduced to metals by any type of the gases formed in the combustion. Therefore, the synthesis of CoCrCuNiAl HEAs is through the second route. Recently, (Co,Cu,Mg,Ni,Zn)O high entropy oxides (HEOs) were synthesized by pyrolyzing nitrates of the individual metals according to the report of Sarkar et al.25 Similar with HEAs, HEOs containing five or more metals in equiatomic amounts will be formed because of the high mixing entropy. Hence, the oxide phase in the XRD patterns of the combustion product with fuel oxidant ratios less than 1:1 is likely to be (Co,Cr,Cu,Ni,Al)O HEO. In the HEOs, the metallic elements are bonded together and ordered in thermodynamics to form the structure of A B C D E O (where A, B, C, D, and E denote the metallic elements and O represents oxygen), as shown in Figure 1f. As a romantic comedy, the deepest and most underlying subject/theme of the film has to be love, yet there are so many layers of lesser subjects and themes that collectively contribute to the ultimate theme of love that it s a wonder how it all comes together so effortlessly. At the end, because of all these separate elements of the film which came together effortlessly, viewers are able to relate to Ted in a way that directors and producers wanted all along, allowing for maximum emotional effect to take place, which subsequently allows viewers to relate to the film as a whole, guaranteeing the film s ultimate ... • 23. Pros And Cons Of Pelagianism In the years following 400 AD, the ideas of the monk Pelagius spawned a heresy that still affects people of the church today. Pelagianism holds that a man can take the initial and fundamental steps toward salvation by his own efforts, apart from God s Divine Grace (Slick). In a nutshell, Pelagius heresy states that man doesn t need help from God to be able to live a holy life and to get into heaven. Despite the heresy seeming to have nearly died out, it merely evolved into smaller actions that allow it to slowly take hold of our lives. As Thomas Aquinas once stated, heresies are a species of unbelief, and like other species, heresies like pelagianism will adapt in order to survive. Pope Francis made the comments he did about Pelagianism to make it known how it can sneak into our lives and, in addition, presents how we personally can avoid any further confusion. To help clear confusion, Pope Francis shows us how we can t solely rely on ourselves for salvation and that we can always find help through God. I think this idea would really be useful for claimants, and this would give a huge encouragement to the claimants to come to the court. Especially for those who cannot actually afford to hire their own lawyer. Either party may have a lawyer to represent him or her, but this is discouraged by the fact that the winning party cannot claim back the cost of using a lawyer form the other party, but will have to pay his own legal expenses. Instead of having a lawyer, the claimant or the defendant may have a lay representative , that is, a non legally qualified person, with him or her at the hearing to help to put the case. The report will then look at the requirements set by the client, and how these were finalised for implementation. Then the implementation of the project will be discussed looking back on how the features were put into the game. Lastly the report will reflect back on how the project went as a whole and what could be improved in the future. Methodology For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a system akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project manager, and instead the thing keeping people on track was their self motivation to complete the project. To aid with completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from the requirements, and then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for the year. The main reason such a free and unstructured approach was taken was that the group had worked together before using the idea and so it was known to work. The second reason it was used was to allow members of the group to focus on this project when they had time and focus on other university units when needed. The first problem with the unstructured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Pride In Shakespeare s Othello As Toba Beta once said, Pride is the mother of arrogance . Pride can cause anyone to overvalue themselves and lose sight of the truth. In Othello s case, his pride puts himself on a pedestal. When Iago challenges this by suggesting that Desdemona cheats on him, he slowly loses his confidence and becomes weak and insecure. Iago vaguely warns him to not become jealous of Cassio, and Othello s fragile ego once again causes him to let his mind get the best of him. In Shakespeare s Othello, Othello s pride leads to his downfall in order to show that too much confidence eventually leads to emotional self destruction. In the beginning acts, Othello is depicted as a very strong and confident man. When Iago reveals to Othello that Brabantio is angry about his relationship with Desdemona, Othello continues to be confident and believe that he belongs with Desdemona. Othello shows his confidence by saying that his [...] parts, my title, and my perfect soul / Shall manifest me rightly (I.ii.36 37). This shows that Othello has the strength to continue fighting for Desdemona, although her father does not support the relationship. Othello s pride causes him to believe that because of his legal status and positive personality, Brabantio will accept him as Desdemona s partner. Although he is incorrect, his theory proves that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello is strong and confident, yet allows Iago s lies to destroy him. • 43. Cajun American Culture Death of Cajun America Most historical landmarks that once stood in Lafayette stands in ruins as the lack of funding to preserve them is spent elsewhere. Along with the modern culture redefining celebrations such as Mardi Gras to be a revenue income for the state. The true meaning will never be the same. The culture can be traced back to its routes with the people who once celebrated the event. But with more job in the area requiring English to be spoken. The native tongue has been ripped out of the land. Leaving the language and culture to suffer with no one to translate written documents that pertain to recreating it. Cajun Culture and the Cajun language has been slowly fading away like a distant memory someone dwells on. Lack of effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With English speaking taking over the Cajun language suffers. With 18,000 out of the 700,000 people who live in the Cajun Country today still speak the native language. (History of Cajun Country, 2006). Cajun French was made from African, Spanish, Native American and English origins. The language that was spoken widely by the settlers has fallen by great numbers. One of the main reasons the number has lower is because anyone who spoke the language from 1916 to the 1960s was punished for speaking it or learning it. Luther Hall that was elected as governor in 1912 made new acts to make English the primary language spoken. In 1916 Act 27 was turned into law. The Act forces all children to attend public schools where English was taught and only spoken. This made the children who were raised in households that spoke Cajun French to learn English. (History of the Cajuns: Encyclopedia of Cajun Life,2009) This resulted in the future leaders and workers learning English rather their own. If any student or citizen spoke their native language, they were to be punished. Some say that they were to write 100 times so they won t speak it again or get hit on their knuckles with a stick (paulet in Cajun French). This leads to Cajun French to fade away. It was not till 1968 when CODOFIL (Council for the Development of French in Louisiana) that was made to bring French back in the schools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Case Study Sterling This experience was definitely not what I expected it to be; Sterling is a small town and it always seems like there is nothing to do. However, not I see that it is looking to expand and incorporate many modern ideas into the old fashioned community. In addition, I did not realize how many crucial issues the Council deals with on a daily basis (i.e. the marijuana bill). Although Sterling may be a smaller town, but a lot of government and other proceedings go on actively. Moreover, I expected a much longer meeting both times. The first time I understand there was not much to talk about; however, even for all the things covered in the second meeting, it went relatively fast. Maybe if I had stayed for the work session it would seem longer. Secondly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is the level of government responsible. We had a discussion over this early in the course and I got the full understanding after attending these meetings. For example, the marijuana selling bill came up at the first meeting I attended. It is legal in the state of Colorado to sell marijuana; however, if you local county/city/etc. does not permit it, you are not allowed to. This is the case in Sterling, but it may soon change. The second concept I witnessed when attending these meeting was voter, or public, participation. As I stated before, not many people attended the first meeting. Maybe two rows of chair were filled total. If more people were involved with their local governments, more actions could be completed and things could be done quicker. I am going to encourage more people I know to attend these meetings, not only for the publics sake but also for their own knowledge and awareness. Finally, I witnessed many tax and other budget issues being handled and contemplated at the meetings. For example, the City Manager Saling talked about the sales tax is still on a steady incline that is likely to continue. He encouraged the public to be aware and watch this so they can adjust their personal budgets. In addition, the budget issue appeared again with the marijuana bill. The Council ... • 45. Alfred Russel Wallace And His Modern Biogeographical Legacy Special Assignment There s No Place Like Home: Alfred Russel Wallace and His Modern Biogeographical Legacy was presented by Lynne R. Parenti, Ph.D, on April 17,2015. Dr. Parenti presented in University of Hawaii at Manoa s BioMed building in Room B 103 at 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Dr. Lynne Parenti is a curator of museum fishes at the National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian Institution. I chose to attend this presentation because the field of biogeography seemed interesting as well as the history of biogeography. Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two distinct faunas the Indo Malayan Biotic Area and the Australian Biotic Area that were separated by a demarcation that was later named Wallace s Line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parenti states that there are three principals to biogeography: endemism, terrain fidelity, and area classification. In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are predicted by using maps. Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic species, biogeologist use the comparative method. The comparative method compares animals found in certain biotas. She further explains that there are two mechanisms that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr. Parenti adds that she is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the movement within an endemic area, but there are no generation ...
