Should Athletes Stay Out Longer
I believe they should let the athletes stay out longer because it would get them extra time to just

Beer And The Industrial Revolution
During the time leading up to the Industrial Revolution in England, the most popular beverage in
the country was beer; Ale to be exact. It was consumed in amazing quantities, which was by no
means an entirely negative fact, as beer has a number of healthy nutrients. But one thing that beer
does not provide is a strong work ethic. After a few pints of Ale one does not tend to work harder.
But since most tradesmen and artisans worked from the home, who could complain.
What does this have to do with literature, you might ask? Well nothing really. But hold on and it
soon will.
The industrial revolution occured when Watt learned how to harness steam in the form of the steam
engine, towards the end of the 18th Century. This lead to the steam loom

Broward County Community Observation Report
This week s assignment was to search out the schedule for any local city council or county
commission public meeting and attend either in person or online to observe the deliberations. This
observation paper is of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for Broward County. The
meeting was held on March 28, 2017 at 10:08 a.m. The Broward CountyCharter requires a division

very loud and vocal. The meeting on March 28th, 2017 was more of a formal setting with vocal
discussions, however, the atmosphere surrounding the meeting was somewhat subdued compared
to the other meetings I have participated in. The BOCC were more relaxed during this meeting
and even joked with each other in a professional and polite manner. The audience, whom should
be quite during the meeting, also laughed at the Commissioners jokes. When the audience
participated as speakers the BOCC listened and then moved onto the next speaker. Both parties,
the BOCC and the public speakers were polite and all speakers stayed within his or her allocated
three (3) minutes timeframe to talk. I was unable to locate any news articles relating to the March
28, 2017, BOCC meeting. There were a few times throughout the meeting a commissioner asked
the County Attorney if what was being requested was the first time or a different action taken by
the Board than in the past. It seemed many of the new Board members wanted to ensure they were
not changing policy or actions of previous Boards.

Essay on The Ever Changing Concept of Health
With the dominance of medicine over the past two hundred years many historical health concepts
have gone through various changes. The definition of health is dependent on one s perspective,
be it lay, professional or from influences of specific cultures or social ideals and health policies of a
particular time or place (Fleming Parker 2012, p.30, Naidoo Wills 2000).
An exploration through history will reflect on the health philosophies of the ancient Greeks and
Romans, the Middle Age s concept of quarantine and isolation and the religious theories of disease
including a brief insight into the renaissance. Subsequently, a discussion of health concepts of the
past two centuries including 19th century sanitary reform, the dominance in ... Show more content

The Greek scholar Hippocrates (c.460BC c.370BC), defined the humoral conception of health, [the
Four Humours], with the balance of these being responsible for health, interacting together with
lifestyle and environment, including individual constitution, clean air, diet and clean water. He
noted in his writings, regarding the workers and slaves, that neglect of diet affected their health,
yet, work was not considered an influencing factor on humoral balance (Tountas 2009, p.186 187,
Fleming Parker 2012, p.28, Turner 2000, p.13, Krieger, pp.43 44, Noviik and morrow, 2008, p.5).
Others such as Empedocles, Aristotle and later Galen extended Hippocratic humoral theory to link
other elements (Hays 2009, pp.9 13). No matter which variation, these theories were an attempt to
rationalise individual incidents of sickness and the differences in health status in the populace in
relation to underlying principles and environmental exposures (Krieger, p.46). According to Krieger
(2011, p.47) Greek politics had influence stating not only nature but politics informed the
conceptualization of balance in Greek humoral theory .
Tountas (2009, p.187) noted that ancient Greek physicians were itinerant craftsmen, earning their
reputation for skill from the successes of previous visits (Veith 1980, p.532). The diversity of their
practice included leech craft, magic and what is known today as allied health professions including
dietetics, nutrition, occupational therapy,

Similarities Between The Tang And Song Dynasty
The historical importance of the term movable type is that it is a printer that can arrange blocks
of individual characters in a frame to make up a page for printing. This was one of the
advancements in the Tang and Song Dynasty. Advancement is gunpowder. Gunpowder leads to the
creation of weapons. The Tang s agriculture also helps them succeed because the new fast ripening
rice from Vietnam can feed the whole population. Also, they promoted trade by guarding the Silk
Roads, relining on ocean trade. Buddhism spread and the Chinese were exposed to Christianity.
Also, the Tang period produced great poets like Li Bo and Tu. During the Song Dynasty, artists
were influenced by Daoism and emphasized the beauty of natural landscapes, used black ink.

They kept the Chinese from high government offices. In addition to that, they restored the Grand

The historical significance of the phrase Marco Polo is that he was a European that traveled to
China so he can visit various Chinese cities on government missions for Kublai Khan. During a
war, he was captured and imprisoned.
The historical significance of the phrase Shinto is that it is a type of religion that was based on
respect for the forces of nature and on the worship of ancestors. Also, worshippers believed in kami

The Development of Chondrocranium of Chondrichthyes Essay
Chondrichthyes possess a skeleton that differs considerably from other species in that their
skeletons are made up of cartilage rather than bone. This project gives insight on the normal
developmental pattern of the chondrocranium of a chondrichthyan, using the little skate, Leucoraja
erinacea as a model organism. This is demonstrated by using histological techniques to visualize and
describe this sequence of chondrocranium development, focusing on two stages of development. In
the context of what is morphologically known from their relative taxas and other chondrichthyans,
the developmental pattern that occurs in these two stages is given in detail. It s suggested that from

Starting off as a pair of parachordal cartilage, the basal region, or basal plate will grow to surround
the notochord and pair with prechordal cartilages, the trabeculae cranii, that form in front of the
notochord to form the ethmoid plate. The occipital region will form at the posterior end of the
chondrocranium and surround the descending notochord via a segmented occipital arch, which
exhibits similarly to that of a vertebral column present in vertebrates having both a neural and
hemal arch (3).
The little skate, Leucoraja erinacea, is a chondrichthyan that is a key model organism for
chondrichthyan embryology studies. As an oviparous species, after internal fertilization its
development is independent of its mother, encapsulated in a laid, moderately thin keratinized egg
case during embryonic development. These embryos receive nourishment via a yolk sac located in
the egg case and remain capsuled during development for approximately 6 9 months (Figure 2a j).
As an oviparous species, they are amenable to experimental embryological manipulation and
therefore are important as a model organism.
Chrondrichthyans are an important lineage in that their studies can shed light onto evolutionary
processes that can give key insights into both development of extinct early jawed fishes and the
evolution of higher

media were prevented from criticising attacks on small states labelled communist. The creation of
an evil empire of some kind has become a great plan for terrifying the population. Since the end of
the Cold War (1991), anti communism was replaced by the war on terror as the major social control
mechanism.

Disinformation is a news story which is deliberately designed by journalists. The news story is
presented as a real one and from credible sources. Jowelt and O Donnell (2012: 45 49) summarise
the main goals of propaganda and the propagandist as follows:
A. Concealed purpose The propagandist does not tell his/her readers that he/she is a persuader,
but, in reality he or she wants to persuade people to believe in his or her own interests or those of
an organisation, a specific group or country. This means that the propagandist does not care about
the audience and does not even believe in the message that he/she is sending.
B. Concealed Identity The propagandist always attempts to conceal his/her identity because he/she
wants to achieve a goal. If a propagandist reveals his/her identity, he will introduce a gift to his/her
opponents and this the propagandist does not want it to

Benefits Of A Solid Waste
Beginning on October 20, I started carefully assessing my daily routine and documenting my
activities in regards to my production of solid waste, carbon emissions, and use of fresh water.
During those two weeks, I collected data and examined how I could help reduce my overall
ecological footprint and use of environmental resources through propositions, research, and online
calculations.
Solid Waste
Current Routine:
During the week, I begin my day by walking to Mean Greens cafeteria for breakfast. I am
provided with the dishes for my meal, which are all reusable and therefore I do not contribute
any waste in regards to those. I do however use multiple napkins during my meals. Often, I threw
away all the napkins I took, including the ones I did not use. I only used two of the five napkins
I got every meal. I also left food scraps on my plate, which were thrown away and contributed to
compost solid waste. I also go to Mean Greens cafeteria for lunch and dinner and have similar
habits when it comes to how much solid waste I produce during those meals. On average during
one week I throw out 30 napkins and an estimate of two pounds of food. Under circumstances
where I cannot make it to the cafeteria to eat and I need quick and easy access to food, I get fries
from Chik Fil A. This usually happens twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays before my
environmental science class. I get two large fries in a to go bag, which are all thrown away after I

He created this brigade to help infiltrate North Africa. Despite the name having people infer that

Summary Of Mike Rose s Blue Collar Brilliance
Blue Collar Brilliance, a short story written by Mike Rose, a professor at UCLA Graduate

punching in at five in the morning and punching back out at close. In this case, it was his mother

Safety of Employees in the Industry
There are many jobs in the world that are very dangerous, and might cause serious injury to
employees, such as: police, firefighter, construction, install or repair electrical, and more. Therefore,
employees safety is an essential component of any industry. They want secure that their employee
does not get an accident, or injuring while working. Today, many companies are giving safety
handbook for their employee to follow the rules and get understandable about the safety in the
company. However, to improve the safety for the workers, many industries have developed their
machinery, have their employee to train, and make sure that their workers are working in a good
condition environment.
Improving machinery is the one of the most priority that many industries should have done for
their employees. Back in the 1900s, many were people are dying or having serious injuries to
them because the machines were not built with the detection vibration. For example, in the story,

The Four Different Types Of Organic Compounds
Organic Compounds There are four main classes of organic compounds: carbohydrates, lipids,
proteins, and nucleic acids. Organic compounds are covalently bonded compounds that are
primarily composed of carbon atoms (excluding oxides and carbonates). These four classes of
organic compounds are vital to the life processes of all living things. One of the main organic
compounds are carbohydrates. Some carbohydrates are a source of energy and others are used
as structural materials for living things. Carbohydrates are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and
oxygen. They are in a ratio of one carbon atom to two hydrogen atoms to one oxygen atom
(1:2:1). The general formula of a carbohydrate is (CH2O)n. N is any whole number from three to
eight. The functional group of a carbohydrate is hydroxyl. Carbohydrates also have subclasses,
which are monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. A monosaccharide is a simple
sugar that is the basic subunit of a carbohydrate. The three examples of monosaccharides are
glucose, fructose, and galactose. Glucose is the main source of energy for cells. Fructose is the
sweetest of the monosaccharides and is found in fruits, while galactose is found milk. Compounds
like these sugars have the same chemical formula, but different structures, this is called isomers. A
disaccharide is a sugar formed from two monosaccharides. For example, the monosaccharides
fructose and glucose combining to form the disaccharide sucrose. A polysaccharide is one of

The Traditional Family And The Socialization Of The Modern...
Introduction.
The family is one of the oldest but most important institution known to man and the society in
which he/ she lives. According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2005) a family consists of two or more
people, one of whom is the householder, related by birth, marriage, or adoption and residing in the
same housing unit. A household consists of all people who occupy a housing unit regardless of
relationship. A household may consist of a person living alone or multiple unrelated individuals or
families living together. Therefore, during the course of time, the family structure has evolved, in
some cases, changed which resulted in different family structures forming. Two of the most
important are the traditional family structure and the modern family structure. As a result, various
theorists have his/ her own views of these two family structures. With the views expressed by those
theorists, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structural functionalists view the traditional family as an important institution which is the
basic building block of society that carry out the crucial functions of socialising the young and
meeting the emotional needs of its members. Additionally, some theorists argue that traditional
family is universal. To this extend, they see the family as performing several essential functions.
These include:
a)Stable satisfaction of the sex drive within monogomous relationships
b)The biological reproduction of the next generation without which society cannot continue.
c)Socialisation of the young teaching basic norms and values
d)Meeting its members economic needs producing food and shelter for example
Some hold the view that the traditional family is the only institution that can perform two core
functions in society: Primary Socialisation and the Stabilisation of Adult Personalities.
1. Primary Socialisation: the nuclear family is responsible for teaching children the norms and

The Characteristics Of Nurses In The Media
In the media, nurses are portrayed as if they are self centered, uncaring, unprofessional, and
unintelligent. All of these characteristics are against the CNO standards. CNO standards indicates
that nurses should not act how the media has portrayed. They are expected to act and treat their
patients with respect and care. It is very hard to find a place where the media portrays nursesare
hard working people who demonstrate clinical skill, compassion and diligence. The setting of
where nurses work is very often limited. Many shows and movies place nurses usually into
hospital settings and disregard places like long term care and home care. The CNO standardfor
professionalism that would best relate to confidentiality, leadership and use of social media would
be privacy confidentiality.
Each nurse is required to follow the CNO s Ethics Practice Standard. Values that are included are
client well being, client choice, respect for life, privacy confidentiality, maintaining
commitments, truthfulness, and fairness. The media portrays nurses as if they do not respect
their clients, they are rowdy outside of their workplace, and share information everywhere. That
is opposite of what nurses are really. Every nurse tries their hardest in order to change how the
media has presented them. They do not share client information to anyone, anywhere. If they did
share, they are automatically breaking the privacy confidentiality value of the CNO Ethics
Practice Standard. If every nurse followed the CNO standards precisely and the media
acknowledged that then we would be viewed differently. The society forms its opinions based on
its own observations. The behavior of some nurses can easily trigger a stereotype for all nurses.
The society hears and sees things and that shows them how to think about what they saw and heard.
Shows like Scrubbing In would ve never been created if there had been no hints that some nurses
behave like heart breakers, attention seekers and fun seekers. Traditionally, nurses were as angelic,
helpers to physicians yet low skilled. The media portraying nurses negatively could produce doubt
in a patient about whether their information will be confidential or accidentally announced
somewhere. Other

The Prevalence Of Racism On America s Youth
I have always advocated for social equality and have been aware of the prevalence of racism.
However, my forethought now seems insignificant compared to the degree of racism that James W.
Loewen suggests is indoctrinating the minds of America s youth. Loewen takes readers on an
enlightening journey through his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American
HistoryTextbookGot Wrong. The book intends to expose the false claims and lack of information
in standard American high school history textbooks. He aims to correct the stigma behind how and
why American history is so misrepresented and why it is important to represent history accurately
and not limitedly. He proposes a few ways in which we can reform the teaching of history as well.
Throughout the book, he largely focuses on the shortcomings or outright fallacies of historical
textbooks in regards to racism, government, colonialism, and patriotism. Loewen serves this book to
bring about institutional change where he feels that it is needed and to stress the importance of
factual historical information and realpolitik. He displays vast amounts of logical and thoroughly
descriptive anecdotes and facts, however, the scrambled organization of his topics, and his clear
devotion and passion for the theme of social justice and anti racism present the problem of
bombardment. Furthermore, he does not appeal to his suggested audiencein an adequate rhetorical

Analysis Of Living Under Circe s Spell Letter
The personal essays Living Under Circe s Spell written by Matthew Soyster and On Being a
Cripple written by Nancy Mairs both share experiences and what it is like to live life as a person
that suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, otherwise known as MS, through the use of pathos, and
patterns. Both of these authors appeal to the readers emotions while talking about their life and
how difficult it is to live with such a disease. Soyster and Mairs create patterns as they
continually talk about their past lives. They always refer back to the past, which shows the reader
how some people can live in the past or can simply learn from it. The authors bring up different
opinions of living with MS by creating their tones when using pathos and patterns. Soyster and
Mairs use pathos and patterns to strengthen their essays and convey their lives as a person suffering
from the Multiple Sclerosisdisease. Soyster s Living Under Circe s Spell and Mairs s On Being a
Cripple both use emotional appeals to describe how living with Multiple Sclerosis truly is. The
authors use of pathos helps the reader to connect to Soyster and Mairs s stories more and really
understand and sympathize with them. Soyster s use of pathos is more to show how hard and
deep it strikes you to find out that you have MS and the sense of defeat that one gains from it.

entertainment through activities anywhere from picnics to concerts and parades. United States is
home to a few of the most well known and architecturally impressive park achievements in the

The idea to improve the park was motivated by Olmsted s design of Central Park, which
Fairmount Park was intended to model after. Just like Central Park a competition was held to see
who would lead in the design of the project. Four distinguished names were selected as finalists in
the design and development of the park. Those 4 names were William Saunders, Edwin Durang,
Andrew Pallas, and the firm of Sidney Adams (Smith 286). Saunders specialized in the design of
Gardening, Pallas was a landscape engineer, Durang was specialized in church design, and
Sydney Adams were known for landscape and villa architecture (Smith 287). The firm of
Sydney Adams was granted the ultimate prize of designing the park and locals became very
excited. To some James Clark Sydney was known as a young protГ©gГ© knew when he first
entered the field of landscape architecture. Sydney was well known for designing successful map
layouts of New York and Philadelphia. Many of the things in Sydney s plans were similar to that
of Frederick Olmsted s and Vaux s Central park design. Features include things such as transverse
roads, paths for carriage rides, boathouses, etc. Sydney wanted the landscape to be viewed as a
picture and a painting that incorporates the landscape with architecture, similar to that of Vaux.
Fairmount Park landscape has rolling hills, abundance of trails, and voids for recreational use.
Both parks were meant to offer the same use to the public in terms of recreation and leisure,

Charlie Parker Take 5 Analysis
Introduction
This task requires the close comparison of two jazz pieces of different decades and their defining
styles. The musical styles, instrumentation, compositional techniques, structure, technology and
role of lyrics are key factors in the comparison and will be focused on. The artists lives as well as
the historical and social contexts of those decades will also be analysed because they played key
roles in the composition of the music.
Charlie Parker s 1945 Bebop recording Ko Ko will be compared to Take Five composed by Paul
Desmond and Dave Brubeck.
Context
Ko Ko was composed and recorded in 1945 which marked the end of the Second World War. The
original recorded version featured Parker playing alto saxophone, Miles Davis on trumpet, Curley
Russelland on double bass, Max Roach on drums and Dizzy Gillespie on piano, instead of his main
instrument trumpet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parker recorded Ko Ko during his first session and first date as a leader for Savoy Records.
This piece showcased just how challenging this new music was to play. Parker was no longer
confining himself in the traditional jazz musical style but rather creating his own new Jazz
language. Ko Ko was a ferocious salvo fired across swings bow. (Myers n.d.)
Take Five, a West Coast Cool Jazz piece, was composed by Paul Desmond during the Cold War
and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album Time Out . The piece got its
name due to its 5/4 time signature, which is very unusual. This reflects the experimental nature
of West Coast Cool Jazz. I was breaking a whole bunch of rules. (Zollo 1991), but this evidently
worked because it was the first jazz single to ever sell over a million copies globally.

A History of Product Placement in Film and Television
A History of Product Placement in Film and Television
Peter Rush Product placement in the marketing world has become more and more evident in the
past few decades. More specifically, product placement in the movie industry has been one of the
most successful ways to advertise products. Oftentimes, products are associated with a film, or vice
versa. Such is the case with Reese s Pieces candies and Stephen Spielberg s film, E.T . While it is
a very expensive way of companies to advertise their brands, it is one that pays off immensely if
executed properly. Although it seems as if product placement in film and television is a relatively
new way of marketing products to the public, it has been around as early as the late ... Show more

But although some of the Edison films were obvious offers of products and services, product
placements as subtle efforts to influence audience attitude and behavior became a specialty of
Edison s. His catalog listed hundreds of travelogues, such as trips to the Far West, Niagara Falls,
and Hawaii, along with dozens of railroad films. The business of product placement had begun. In
the United States, cinematic art and business intertwined in the 1910s and 1920s as manufacturers
and government distributed advertising films that combined drama and commerce to the small
town circuit. Producers of these films included International Harvester, the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, and the YMCA. From 1914 to 1921, Ford Motor Company created a series of
newsreels titled Ford Animated Weekly and Ford Educational Weekly. A typical serial included
Model T races and news footage that sometimes incorporated Henry Ford meeting with
government officials. These advertising films were distributed at low cost to exhibitors and found
an early approval in small towns, with Ford claiming a viewership of 3 million per week (Journal
of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, 2006). Not only did the product placement within the movie
help to reimburse both parties of the agreement, but the American films initiated a worldwide trade
in American products as well.

Analysis Of Malala And The Sealand Lady s Speech
Persuasive Appeals Assignment The first appeal that will be analyzed is logos, the appeal to
logic. In Malala s speech, the constant use of many statistics and facts made the speech much
more reasonable and sensible. For example: And that is why they killed 14 innocent medical
students in the recent attack in Quetta . Also, Thousands of people have been killed by the
terrorists and millions have been injured. These quotes establish logic in the sense that if one
uses statistics or facts, it shows that they ve done their research and they are aware of the issues
happening globally. In the Sealand Lady s speech, the use of reasoning and common sense is
evidently shown through quotes like It is not pleasant to kill any creature, she agreed, but to
pretend that one can live without doing so is self deception and The essential quality of life is
living; the essential quality of living is change; change is evolution: and we are a part of it.
These quotes show that death is inevitable for life to form and although it s not pleasant, it still
has to happen. In addition, whoever is an enemy of change is essentially an enemy of life
because the two fit hand in hand. To conclude, the use of logos in Malala s speech and the Sealand
lady s speech was effective. The second appealis pathos, the appeal to emotions. In Malala s
speech, her personal experiences were effective in making the readers or listeners feel sympathetic.
For example, she greets everyone

Agent Of National Policy Essay
The agents of the National Policy
The National Policy was the initiative of MacDonald s government. It was designed to secure the
Canadian extension to the western territories for the future settlement and land exploration. The
establishment of the NWMP coincided with the implementation of the policy and subsequently the
first federal agency embraced a vast range of functions to assure its successful realization. At the
beginning of their work the police gave the priority to the Aboriginal issue that included moving
bands to the reserves and sustain peaceful relations with them. When this step was accomplished
the safeguarding of the construction of the CPR, surveillance of the working personal with the
purpose of riot prevention, detection of alcohol and prevention of disorder were assigned to the

exploration and assimilation of new territories, the responsibilities of the police changed

Alexander IIi Of Macedonia Truly Worthy Of The Title Essay
Was Alexander III of Macedonia really worthy of the title Great or was he just a megalomaniac
conditioned into this belief by his followers? Well, if you consider his military legacy which is
almost as large as the swath of territory he conquered spanning from modern day Greece to
northern India, or the fact that his over 2,000 year old combat tactics are still being taught at
military academies the world over, I don t believe the word great would be too far from
imagination. When Alexander rose to power following the death of his father, Phillip II, his
kingdom of Macedonia encompassed all of the land that we know as modern Greece. For
Alexander this was not enough. Phillip II is believed to have prophesized s his son s ambitions
with the words, My son you must find a kingdom big enough for your ambition. Macedon is too
small for you. after Alexander tamed his wild buck Bucephalas at age 10. Born around July
20th, 356 BC to King Phillip II and one of his favorite wives, Olympias, Alexander was believed
to be destined for greatness from the start. Many tall tales about his birth origin circulated
throughout and after his life including his personal claim of descent from Achilles and Zeus. After
enjoying a leisurely life as the child of a noble family, he began his tutelage under Aristotle at the
age of 13. His father, Phillip II was frequently absent from Macedonia on long conquest campaigns

app, which puts everyone on teams that compete each day for points based on how many rides
you go on. It also had music videos, games, trivia, and general information about the park. I
could smell funnel cakes and all kinds of other foods. The line moved slowly, barely moving
forward each time the cars went around the track. The track was short, but loading up the cars
took awhile. Every group of people that went on had to have that quick safety speech. As we got
closer to the front, I started sweating. It was already blazing hot outside, and the sun was
burning, but that wasn t why I started sweating. My hands were sticky with sweat. I was as

Virgil s Aeneid as Roman Propaganda Essay
Virgil s Aeneid as Roman Propaganda
Rome was experiencing a great deal of internal turmoil during the period when Virgil wrote the
Aeneid. There was somewhat of an identity crisis in Rome as it had no definitive leader, or history.
With the ascension of Augustus to the throne, Rome was unified again. Still, it had no great book.
The Greeks had their Odyssey, giving them a sense of history and of continuity through time. A
commonly held view is that the Aeneid attempts to provide the Romans with this sense of
continuity or roots. There is a great deal of textual evidence to support this interpretation. Virgil
makes numerous references to the greatness of Rome through ancient prophecies. Clearly, the entire
poem is an account of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two methods allow Virgil to connect his Rome very closely to the story of Aeneas, and give
the Aeneid a great deal of historical credibility in the eyes of his contemporaries.
It was very critical to Virgil that a believable sense of history be achieved in his writing. At the
beginning of Book VI, the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus is introduced when the Trojans
see it carved into the temple doors (lines 21 50). There is a second time in the text that such a
reference to the past is made in a similar fashion. This occurs in Book I when Aeneas observes
the carvings on the walls of Juno s temple at Carthage (lines 619 762). In these two incidents, the
same technique of recalling history is employed. Virgil seems to imply that the best way that he
can describe history is to tell it with the help of the gods, which in this case that would be the
Muse that he has called upon in Book I to assist him (line 13). At the time, the knowledge of the
Muses was considered to be the objective truth while the knowledge of the mortals was
considered to be secondhand and imperfect. The distinction between the two is made with the
story of Daedalus. Virgil gives an elaborate account of what he knows of the event, and then
omits the ending which he does not know: Twice your father tried to shape your fall in gold, but
twice his hands dropped. (Book VI, lines 49 50) By wording the story so that Daedalus does not
describe his own son s

If we clearly analyze the Challenger Case we can see that this set of principles doesnВ№t apply.
There was no standard operating procedure here for unreliable O rings. This was not an
assembly line where one flaw will shut down an entire days work. This was a space craft with
people in it and the only profit to be made here was the advancement of science. As stated in the
text when we begin to get into Nonprogrammed decisions we can see that as situations become
random and illstructured they seek the advise of upper levels of management. This was a very
random problem that occurred with the defective O rings, therefore it would have worked its way
up to the higher managerial departments for approval. The Rational model tells us that when
managers make these decisions, no matter how random they may be, that they have all the
information fully and most importantly that they understand it properly. In a role where others
peoples lives are in your hands this becomes essential to success. When reading the material about
the challenger case it becomes clear that the upper levels of management that were responsible did
not possess all of the information. This is their fault, they should have made sure that they
completely understood all vital information. I Know this first hand, being a noncommissioned

There are countless misunderstood symbols throughout history, but none s meaning has been as

meant to amplify the meaning of the word. With all these meanings together, it become clear
rather fast that term swastika means simply that which is associated with well being , which can

It appears as a decorative symbol in many Neolithic cultures, though we do not know if they used
it in a religious sense of not. The swastika is seen most commonly, however, in India and the land

cultures, the swastika is largely grouped into the large category of solar crosses , which were
used in worshipping the sun throughout much of the ancient world, and this can give us some
clues into its ancient meaning. However, some experts have suggested that instead of representing
the sun, or that the symbol s four arms are meant to represent the four aspects of nature the sun,
wind, water, and soil. Still, others say that the four arms represent the four seasons, where the
division of ninety degrees represent the solstices and equinoxes. The Hindus use it to represent

Mesmer Magnetism Essay
According to German physician, Franz Anton Mesmer, the entire universe is connected by an
invisible thing know as animal magnetism. Mesmer believed that the entire human body was
filled with this magnetism and that it was carried through the body in a constant flow. Illnesses
occur as the result of the flow of magnetism becoming blocked off. Mesmer was able to cure his
patients through several appointments. Soon, high powered, influential members of society began
to investigate Mesmer s practices, this committee was called the Royal Commission. In order for
Mesmer to cure his patients he would sit opposite of them and would touch their finger and knees,
he would also look into the afflicted person s eyes (typically unmarried, rich, young ladies). After
several appointments with Mesmer the patients would experience a crisis and would be
miraculously cured. Mesmer first started curing his patients in one on one appointments, but soon

Early Rome Research Paper
From the beginning of time until this very moment many new people groups have joined to form
new civilizations. This all then led to new ideas which they formed new concepts of how to do
things such as farming, living, government, etc. Throughout this paper, I will be talking a little bit
about the early Roman way of living, government, and their armies ways and changes, then at the
end about the scutum which is the roman shield.
Rome is located in Italy, that is shaped like a boot. It is located in the middle of the Mediterranean
world. Rome is also just located west of the Apennine Mountains, which runs 746 miles across

Delays Affecting The Construction Schedule
1 Concurrent Delays
Concurrent delays can be used in both the offensive as well as defensive ways. Contractor uses
concurrency as a shield to defend himself against fiscal damages by the employer. On the other
hand employer uses it to ward off the contractor s pursuits for delay costs. Therefore, this topic has
been going through a lot of research. United States Court of Federal Claims described the notion of
concurrent delay in R.P. Wallace, Inc. v. U.S. 63 Fed. Cl. 402 (2004). ). There are many players in
construction affecting the construction schedule; but, following are the three major examples of
the concurrent delays:
1.Owner and Contractor caused delays
2.Owner and Naturally caused delays
3.Contractor and Naturally caused delays
There are various possible situations arising in case of delays in construction:
1.In case of a Concurrent delay, caused by both the owner and general contractor; the contractor
may get a time extension, but no additional compensation.
2.In case of an Inexcusable delay, the contractor isn t entitled to receive an extension or any
additional compensation; and, rather, the owner may be entitled for the compensation of liquidated
damages or actual damages.
3.In case of Compensable delay, contractor is entitled to both a time extension and an additional
compensation.
4.In case of Excusable delay, the contractor gets a time extension but no additional compensation.
The above conditions depend on the contractual terms, general practices

Food Wasting In America Essay
When I was little I was never able to finish my food, and my mom would always tell me that I
should always finish my food because not everybody has a chance to eat. Food wasting in
america is well talked about problem with $165 million dollars worth of food is being wasted
every year. Food wasting in america can be caused by many things, but three main reasons are
overstocking their produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste
foodespecially by overstocking. In farmer s markets many farmers overstock their crates with
produce to have appeal to the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have
sold more chard if people saw more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week
Tonight). This is because many people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be
something wrong with it. With that being the case many farmers overstock produce so that it takes
away that assumption and people would buy their product. But overstocking also causes food
waste, with farmers overstocking their produce to make it look appealing to buyers they... Show

Harold McClarty, the owner of HMC farms, say Getting into the hands of somebody to eat it isn

have to box it and ship it over to them which costs them resources compared to throwing it away
which is a lot faster and at little to no cost at all. Businesses aren t given any incentive to donate
their food so if they re not receiving any benefit to donate food to food banks then there s no
reason for them to donate at all, and they just waste tons of their product which doesn t get to be

Heath Ledger s Death Alarmed
Finding out about Heath Ledger s death alarmed everyone to say the least. Besides the initial
shock at the news, what seemed to strike people more was that he passed right after playing the
part of the Joker in The Dark Knight. Not only did he do a fantastic job getting into character in
that film, some say he got a little too into character in this film, resulting in his death. At the time
of his demise, a controversy arose about whether or not his death was the result of suicide. Most
confirmed that this is not true. Regardless of that, what let him to self destructive behaviors? Was
it a psychological illness that was long brewing before the part in The Dark Knight, or was it
because of his brilliant character development? One must... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Acting became an emotional release for him, contrary to what the future role of the Joker seemed to
do. When he was sixteen years old, Ledger graduated early and went to Sydney to pursue acting.
He participated in TV shows and small films, before getting his big break in the international
movie 10 Things I Hate About You with Julia Stiles ( Heath Ledger
: Biography, n.d.). After that
movie he began to climb the ranks of Hollywood due to his undoubtable talent. He was won best
actor by a few critics and was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards and Golden
Globes for his role in Brokeback Mountain. He ended up being the ninth youngest nominee for
the Academy Award at that time. Besides occupational successes, he also met his girlfriend
Michelle Williams while on the set and had a daughter with her in October of 2005.
Unfortunately, however, their relationship ended in 2007 ( Heath Ledger: Biography, n.d.).
When Ledger got the part of the Joker in Dark Knight, he fully invested himself in the character.
In this we can begin to see the large shift in his behavior that may have been because of an
already brewing disorder inside him. F0r those that don t know, the Joker is the villain in The
Dark Knight, a sadistic clown that wreaks havoc in Gotham. One can begin delving into Ledger
s psyche by looking at how he prepared for his part. His father reported that he had to have been in
a hotel for weeks, and indeed Ledger himself reported to Empire Magazine, I sat

Assess the Factors Which Led to the Creation of Itv Essay
Assess the factors which led to the creation of ITV in 1954
Commercial Television has been playing big role in our lives for about 60 years already, whether it
is the Morning News, Downton Abbey or The Britain s Got Talent show (Johnson, Turnock, 2005:
1). Commercial television is entertaining, educating and informative and tries to fulfil viewer s
wishes of what they want to watch. British audience has been able to choose what they watch since
1954, when government published the Act of Televisionwhich allowed the creation of the first
independent television in the United Kingdom. The creation of ITV broke the BBC s monopoly and
introduced country a new era with free market and diverse television channels (Williams, 2010:151).

Also, many senior positions in the BBC were still suspicious of the new medium of television
(Turnock, 2007:21). Lord Reith summed up the general attitude of BBC s management to
television when he told that television will be of no importance in your lifetime or mine
(Williams, 2010:144). General opinion in the BBC was that television would not become as
successful as radio. As well as BBC management, government did not find television being as
important as radio. On the contrary to the BBC s management, there were people who saw future
in commercial television. One of those people was Norman Collins who became a director general
of Independent Television who left the BBC and started to campaign commercial television
(Crisell, 1997: 78). BBC s broadcasting developing slowly because of the shortage of technical
knowledge which gave a reason for government to legitimize commercial television which would
also give jobs many advertisers and television people. Commercial television campaign was also
able to persuade the government that competition would make television better as companies had to
give their best to make the viewer to watch their channel.
Another reason which made commercial lobby successful, was the circumstance that important
members of government including the Prime Minister, Churchill, were not prepared to defend the
BBC (Curran, Seaton, 2010:154). After a change in power in late 1951, the conservative party

Saving the Old Growth Forests Essay
Saving the Old Growth Forests
America s Old Growth Forests are an endangered resource that is quickly disappearing. The ancient
forests are being unnecessarily wasted, and are growing smaller and smaller with each passing
moment.
Because the logging industry and the organizations in control of much of the remaining old growth
(approx. 5%) are failing to see its value from an ecological/spiritual perspective, the children of
tomorrow may never gaze upon the history of today if we do not take a stand now, and prevent the

According to the United Nations, at least 37.5 million acres of rainforest is harvested annually.
Despite the relatively small areas of land the rainforests cover, they are home to nearly half of
the 5 10 million plant and animal species on the planet Earth (Brown, 1998). Many of these are
indigenous species that scientists feel may be the key to the development of new medicines
which may ultimately lead to cures for some of the world s most terrible diseases. Furthermore
the rainforests are the lungs of our planet, without which life would not be possible, and while it s
true that younger trees do in fact produce more net oxygen than do mature trees, much of the
rainforest is not being replanted, and therefore the destruction taking place there is permanent. For
this reason; it is no longer acceptable to stand idly by, while large corporations; such as

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of The Influence Of...
To say brand communities are selective is an understatement itself. They place their emphasis more
on symbolism than substance. Therefore, the importance of branding is a critical component used
by marketers to leverage and lure consumers towards building a cohesive identity (Solomon et
al.,2016). A visible brandidentity, brings about a set of positive and negative aspects of brand
communities for marketers. These communities have the capacity to resurrect and/or promote the
brand. Having a loyal base has its pros and cons, especially for marketers who need to handle
issues posed, delicately and competently to avoid any damages to the brand s image and influence.
An effective product positioning strategy is heavily relied by brands to establish their brand
position and differentiate itself, producing a strong competitive advantage. This exclusivity would
increase sales and strengthen the long term position of the brand (Clow and Baack,2014).
2.Branding s Relevance A distinctive brand identity is relevant, differentiated and well esteemed
which influences consumers perception. Brand s respect stems from establishing a positive
connection, resulting in a strong brand equity. This allows brands to attain consumers loyalty,
commercial success, product awareness, power and value universally (Kotler and Armstrong,
2014). Upkeeping an image consistent over the years is built upon a set of associative networks
which foster strong relations and satisfaction (Whalley,2010).

Improving Quality And Safety For Patient Safety
The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Patient safety is a growing concern among healthcare professionals and the public (Goh, Chan,
Kuziemsky, 2013). As professional nurses, it is our duty to demonstrate improved safety for our
patients, visitors and guests to the facilities in which we serve. It is also our duty to prevent
adverse events and to view unfortunate incidents as learning opportunities to achieve a holistic
view of patient care. By improving patient safety, we accept responsibility for more positive patient
outcomes and a successful hospital stay. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of
data evaluation and interpretation to improve patient quality and safety.

In reviewing the data set provided for this study, a large number of falls occurred between the
hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. This is the time that a phlebotomist typically enters the room for a
morning blood draw or the nurse wakes the patient for a vital sign check. The patients are still in a
daze, and it is possible after the clinical personnel leaves, the patient tries to climb out of bed
unattended, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015). Lee (2015), states You disturb them, wake them
up and they re groggy; then they try to get up and go to the restroom by themselves. They
overestimate their ability to function and walk, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015).
In addition to the falls data, the Walden University case study (2015) reported One full time
employee (FTE) of nursing assistants was moved from the night shift to the evening shift (Data
Dashboard, 2015). This change in staff may contribute to the increased falls seen during the
overnight hours. An extra nursing assistant would be helpful as a variable rounder, someone to
help the nurses and other nursing assistants respond quickly if a patient s call bell is ringing or the
patient is in distress.
Our report shows an increase in fall risks from 7 am to 11 am daily. This time coincides with
patient care, where nursing staff may be attending to one individual patient, often

A Report On Early Spring Planting
Early spring planting is a great way to enjoy an abundance of early produce that normally
wouldn t be available until the late spring or early summer. Many smaller gardens can be started
indoors with setups as simple as a few herb seeds in a windowsill planter or as complex as a
multi light hydroponic system. One of the most common mistakes that happen with starting
your spring garden indoors is stating too early. Conditions must be timed exactly right so that as
the indoor plant becomes ready for transplanting to a full bed, the conditions outside will at least
allow transplanting the now grown seedlings to cold frames. Once the weather turns and the last
frost has gone, the cold frames are removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick
spring start. This can give you the chance in some areas to allow for two or even three growing
seasons throughout the year. Simple systems and complex indoor growing operations all have
one thing in common; they need light. Without sunlight through a windowsill or high powered
light bulbs, plants just won t grow. In fact very few organisms can survive without sunlight, and
those that do live in the sea or caves. A good source of light is crucial to the success of starting
your spring garden indoors. When starting from seeds, you ll need to germinate them first. Most
seeds can be started in simple containers like paper cups, but some prefer peat cups or
biodegradable cups. The choice doesn t matter so long as they are

An exorcist is a Christian authority figure, often times a Catholic priest. The Roman Catholic
Church has established an ecclesiastical position for exorcists, yet there are Christian ministers,
who are neither Catholic nor priests, who perform exorcisms as well. Christian ministers who
perform exorcisms are given guidelines for deciding when an exorcism is the best course of
action. Their assessment often involves an examination and interview of the allegedly afflicted
person to see if an exorcism is necessary. Formal exorcists often receive extensive training and
teaching to perform an exorcism. An exorcists training involves much communication with prayers
and what words to say directly to the afflicted person, and in some cases, what

Powerful Women V. Submissive Women by Sean Conolly
Ancient societies and their cultures traditionally provided women with no access to power. It was
nearly universal for women to be treated as subservient to men while being expected to behave
mildly and submissively. The New Testament makes no exception. The Apostle Paul explains that
through Christ, women are absolved of constraints that the social hierarchy imposes on them, but he
later goes on to explain that even in Christ a religious hierarchy still exists. By acknowledging that
women are inferior to men in both the social and religious circles, Paul presents women as
subordinates. This contrasts with Njal s Saga. Through the saga s characters Gunnhild, Hallgerd,

This suggestion is eventually confirmed when she successfully convinces the King to accept Hrut
as a bodyguard (Njal s Saga, 8). Even though the King is the superior, Gunnhild still possesses the
ability to influence him. Her influence demonstrates her ability to assume and exercise a degree of
power.
It is through her power that Gunnhild goes on to instigate a chain of events. After having Hrut as
a lover for several seasons, Gunnhild reasserts her power when Hrut asks to return to Iceland.
Though she lets him return, she sends a curse along with him. She says, If I have as much power
over you as I think I have, then I cast this spell: you will not have sexual pleasure with the woman
you plan to marry in Iceland, though you ll be able to have your will with other women. Neither
of us comes out of this well, because you did not tell me the truth (Njal s Saga, 13). The curse
she places on Hrut actually comes true (Njal s Saga, 16). Hrut cannot please his wife and
Gunnhild s desire to hold a degree of dominance over Hrut is fulfilled. Because Hrut wants to
please his wife but cannot, his desires are unfulfilled. This suggests that Gunnhild s demands and
desires are superior to those of men. It is the demands and desires of a woman that instigate events.

In order to understand how to relate to the emotions of others, one must first be aware of his or
herself, be able to manage how they feel, be familiar with how others think in order to master the
relationship. Having emotional intelligence makes it possible to be successful in business,
personal life, and in school. There are four preferences when it comes to interaction and these four
preferences make up 16 personality types. I will compare and contrast my personality type with the
complete opposite and give examples of how a typical interaction might transpire.

The Intuitive Perfectionist
A psychiatrist and psychotherapist by the name of Carl Jung[1] said that people experience the
world through four psychological functions: sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. One function
being dominant for a person s entire life. Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs
Myers wrote a book making it easier to understand how these four functions make up one s
personality. They came up with 16 variations of the four functions which indicated two were
preferred, one dominant and the other tertiary. The way they were able to analyze this information
to make it more understandable was through the results of a test called The Myers Briggs Type
Indicator ( MBTI)[1].

Aviation And Air Pollution
Air pollution has been a severe challenge to fuel consuming industries (Wang Hao 2012).
Stringent measures are to be implemented to reduce the effects of carbon emission to the
environment. The WHO (2011) has acknowledged the noise environmental impact as a serious
burden of disease, and recent contemporary studies have recognized a link between aviation
noise and cardiovascular disease (Hnasel 2013). Limited Airspace and Airports Capacities Busy
airports have sometimes had to keep aircrafts in the air in wait to land due to the lack of space
and inefficient planning on arrivals and departures. This causes an increase in costs of fuel and
other harmful effects. The capacity of runways, reception by taxis and the whole port should be
increased to allow a smooth flow of activities. The arrival and departure routes can be separate to
facilitate a continuous landing and ascent. Technology Over 60% of airlines have a strategic plan
on how to improve their technique, some with programs underway. An advance in technology in
the industry means easy handling of clients and better service provision (Lovelock 2011).
Efficiency will be high, easy booking of tickets, fast and sophisticated security checks, reduced
paper works and proper communication among others. The right technology will be an essential
tool in the performance of this industry. Economic Impact of Aviation The expansion of airports
and reinforcement of the growth of aviation is evidenced on economic attaining

He noted in his writings, regarding the workers and slaves, that neglect of diet affected their health, yet, work was not considered an influencing factor on humoral balance (Tountas 2009, p.186 187, Fleming Parker 2012, p.28, Turner 2000, p.13, Krieger, pp.43 44, Noviik and morrow, 2008, p.5). No matter which variation, these theories were an attempt to rationalise individual incidents of sickness and the differences in health status in the populace in relation to underlying principles and environmental exposures (Krieger, p.46). According to Krieger (2011, p.47) Greek politics had influence stating not only nature but politics informed the conceptualization of balance in Greek humoral theory . The occipital region will form at the posterior end of the chondrocranium and surround the descending notochord via a segmented occipital arch, which exhibits similarly to that of a vertebral column present in vertebrates having both a neural and hemal arch (3). The little skate, Leucoraja erinacea, is a chondrichthyan that is a key model organism for chondrichthyan embryology studies. As an oviparous species, after internal fertilization its development is independent of its mother, encapsulated in a laid, moderately thin keratinized egg case during embryonic development. These embryos receive nourishment via a yolk sac located in the egg case and remain capsuled during development for approximately 6 9 months (Figure 2a j). As an oviparous species, they are amenable to experimental embryological manipulation and therefore are important as a model organism. Chrondrichthyans are an important lineage in that their studies can shed light onto evolutionary processes that can give key insights into both development of extinct early jawed fishes and the evolution of higher ... During those two weeks, I collected data and examined how I could help reduce my overall ecological footprint and use of environmental resources through propositions, research, and online calculations. Solid Waste Current Routine: During the week, I begin my day by walking to Mean Greens cafeteria for breakfast. I am provided with the dishes for my meal, which are all reusable and therefore I do not contribute any waste in regards to those. I do however use multiple napkins during my meals. Often, I threw away all the napkins I took, including the ones I did not use. I only used two of the five napkins I got every meal. I also left food scraps on my plate, which were thrown away and contributed to compost solid waste. • 20. The Four Different Types Of Organic Compounds Organic Compounds There are four main classes of organic compounds: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Organic compounds are covalently bonded compounds that are primarily composed of carbon atoms (excluding oxides and carbonates). These four classes of organic compounds are vital to the life processes of all living things. One of the main organic compounds are carbohydrates. Some carbohydrates are a source of energy and others are used as structural materials for living things. Carbohydrates are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. They are in a ratio of one carbon atom to two hydrogen atoms to one oxygen atom (1:2:1). The general formula of a carbohydrate is (CH2O)n. N is any whole number from three to eight. The functional group of a carbohydrate is hydroxyl. Carbohydrates also have subclasses, which are monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. A monosaccharide is a simple sugar that is the basic subunit of a carbohydrate. The three examples of monosaccharides are glucose, fructose, and galactose. Glucose is the main source of energy for cells. Fructose is the sweetest of the monosaccharides and is found in fruits, while galactose is found milk. All of these characteristics are against the CNO standards. CNO standards indicates that nurses should not act how the media has portrayed. They are expected to act and treat their patients with respect and care. It is very hard to find a place where the media portrays nursesare hard working people who demonstrate clinical skill, compassion and diligence. The setting of where nurses work is very often limited. Many shows and movies place nurses usually into hospital settings and disregard places like long term care and home care. The CNO standardfor professionalism that would best relate to confidentiality, leadership and use of social media would be privacy confidentiality. Each nurse is required to follow the CNO s Ethics Practice Standard. Values that are included are client well being, client choice, respect for life, privacy confidentiality, maintaining commitments, truthfulness, and fairness. The media portrays nurses as if they do not respect their clients, they are rowdy outside of their workplace, and share information everywhere. That is opposite of what nurses are really. Every nurse tries their hardest in order to change how the media has presented them. They do not share client information to anyone, anywhere. If they did share, they are automatically breaking the privacy confidentiality value of the CNO Ethics Practice Standard. If every nurse followed the CNO standards precisely and the media acknowledged that then we would be viewed differently. The society forms its opinions based on its own observations. The behavior of some nurses can easily trigger a stereotype for all nurses. The society hears and sees things and that shows them how to think about what they saw and heard. Shows like Scrubbing In would ve never been created if there had been no hints that some nurses behave like heart breakers, attention seekers and fun seekers. • 29. Analysis Of Malala And The Sealand Lady s Speech Persuasive Appeals Assignment The first appeal that will be analyzed is logos, the appeal to logic. In Malala s speech, the constant use of many statistics and facts made the speech much more reasonable and sensible. For example: And that is why they killed 14 innocent medical students in the recent attack in Quetta . Also, Thousands of people have been killed by the terrorists and millions have been injured. These quotes establish logic in the sense that if one uses statistics or facts, it shows that they ve done their research and they are aware of the issues happening globally. In the Sealand Lady s speech, the use of reasoning and common sense is evidently shown through quotes like It is not pleasant to kill any creature, she agreed, but to pretend that one can live without doing so is self deception and The essential quality of life is living; the essential quality of living is change; change is evolution: and we are a part of it. These quotes show that death is inevitable for life to form and although it s not pleasant, it still has to happen. In addition, whoever is an enemy of change is essentially an enemy of life because the two fit hand in hand. It was designed to secure the Canadian extension to the western territories for the future settlement and land exploration. The establishment of the NWMP coincided with the implementation of the policy and subsequently the first federal agency embraced a vast range of functions to assure its successful realization. At the beginning of their work the police gave the priority to the Aboriginal issue that included moving bands to the reserves and sustain peaceful relations with them. When this step was accomplished the safeguarding of the construction of the CPR, surveillance of the working personal with the purpose of riot prevention, detection of alcohol and prevention of disorder were assigned to the NWMP. Finally when the railroad was built and the flow of new settlers contributed to the rapid exploration and assimilation of new territories, the responsibilities of the police changed respectively. • 32. Alexander IIi Of Macedonia Truly Worthy Of The Title Essay Was Alexander III of Macedonia really worthy of the title Great or was he just a megalomaniac conditioned into this belief by his followers? Well, if you consider his military legacy which is almost as large as the swath of territory he conquered spanning from modern day Greece to northern India, or the fact that his over 2,000 year old combat tactics are still being taught at military academies the world over, I don t believe the word great would be too far from imagination. When Alexander rose to power following the death of his father, Phillip II, his kingdom of Macedonia encompassed all of the land that we know as modern Greece. For Alexander this was not enough. Phillip II is believed to have prophesized s his son s ambitions with the words, My son you must find a kingdom big enough for your ambition. Macedon is too small for you. after Alexander tamed his wild buck Bucephalas at age 10. Born around July 20th, 356 BC to King Phillip II and one of his favorite wives, Olympias, Alexander was believed to be destined for greatness from the start. Many tall tales about his birth origin circulated throughout and after his life including his personal claim of descent from Achilles and Zeus. It s called the Top Thrill Dragster, and I rode it last summer when we visited Ohio. That one ride taught me that I can do anything with enough determination. I stared up at the rollercoaster that was as fast as the fastest cheetah. Ok. I d said the words, now all I had to do was actually ride the rollercoaster. We got in the neverending line. The sign said it would take at least an hour before we got on the ride. The park had TVs set up throughout the line, advertising cotton candy, hotdogs, and their app, which puts everyone on teams that compete each day for points based on how many rides you go on. It also had music videos, games, trivia, and general information about the park. I could smell funnel cakes and all kinds of other foods. The line moved slowly, barely moving forward each time the cars went around the track. The track was short, but loading up the cars took awhile. Every group of people that went on had to have that quick safety speech. As we got closer to the front, I started sweating. It was already blazing hot outside, and the sun was burning, but that wasn t why I started sweating. My hands were sticky with sweat. I was as nervous as a cat. I ve never ridden a ride this fast. • 35. Virgil s Aeneid as Roman Propaganda Essay Virgil s Aeneid as Roman Propaganda Rome was experiencing a great deal of internal turmoil during the period when Virgil wrote the Aeneid. There was somewhat of an identity crisis in Rome as it had no definitive leader, or history. With the ascension of Augustus to the throne, Rome was unified again. Still, it had no great book. The Greeks had their Odyssey, giving them a sense of history and of continuity through time. A commonly held view is that the Aeneid attempts to provide the Romans with this sense of continuity or roots. There is a great deal of textual evidence to support this interpretation. Virgil makes numerous references to the greatness of Rome through ancient prophecies. Clearly, the entire poem is an account of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two methods allow Virgil to connect his Rome very closely to the story of Aeneas, and give the Aeneid a great deal of historical credibility in the eyes of his contemporaries. It was very critical to Virgil that a believable sense of history be achieved in his writing. At the beginning of Book VI, the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus is introduced when the Trojans see it carved into the temple doors (lines 21 50). There is a second time in the text that such a reference to the past is made in a similar fashion. This occurs in Book I when Aeneas observes the carvings on the walls of Juno s temple at Carthage (lines 619 762). In these two incidents, the same technique of recalling history is employed. Virgil seems to imply that the best way that he can describe history is to tell it with the help of the gods, which in this case that would be the Muse that he has called upon in Book I to assist him (line 13). At the time, the knowledge of the Muses was considered to be the objective truth while the knowledge of the mortals was considered to be secondhand and imperfect. The distinction between the two is made with the story of Daedalus. Virgil gives an elaborate account of what he knows of the event, and then omits the ending which he does not know: Twice your father tried to shape your fall in gold, but twice his hands dropped. However, some experts have suggested that instead of representing the sun, or that the symbol s four arms are meant to represent the four aspects of nature the sun, wind, water, and soil. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have sold more chard if people saw more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week Tonight). This is because many people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be something wrong with it. General opinion in the BBC was that television would not become as successful as radio. As well as BBC management, government did not find television being as important as radio. On the contrary to the BBC s management, there were people who saw future in commercial television. One of those people was Norman Collins who became a director general of Independent Television who left the BBC and started to campaign commercial television (Crisell, 1997: 78). Therefore, the importance of branding is a critical component used by marketers to leverage and lure consumers towards building a cohesive identity (Solomon et al.,2016). A visible brandidentity, brings about a set of positive and negative aspects of brand communities for marketers. These communities have the capacity to resurrect and/or promote the brand. Having a loyal base has its pros and cons, especially for marketers who need to handle issues posed, delicately and competently to avoid any damages to the brand s image and influence. An effective product positioning strategy is heavily relied by brands to establish their brand position and differentiate itself, producing a strong competitive advantage. Once the weather turns and the last frost has gone, the cold frames are removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick spring start. This can give you the chance in some areas to allow for two or even three growing seasons throughout the year. Simple systems and complex indoor growing operations all have one thing in common; they need light. Without sunlight through a windowsill or high powered light bulbs, plants just won t grow. In fact very few organisms can survive without sunlight, and those that do live in the sea or caves. A good source of light is crucial to the success of starting your spring garden indoors. When starting from seeds, you ll need to germinate them first. Most seeds can be started in simple containers like paper cups, but some prefer peat cups or biodegradable cups. • 54. Powerful Women and Submissive Women in Njal s Saga and the... Powerful Women V. Submissive Women by Sean Conolly Ancient societies and their cultures traditionally provided women with no access to power. It was nearly universal for women to be treated as subservient to men while being expected to behave mildly and submissively. The New Testament makes no exception. The Apostle Paul explains that through Christ, women are absolved of constraints that the social hierarchy imposes on them, but he later goes on to explain that even in Christ a religious hierarchy still exists. By acknowledging that women are inferior to men in both the social and religious circles, Paul presents women as subordinates. This contrasts with Njal s Saga. Through the saga s characters Gunnhild, Hallgerd, and Bergthora, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This suggestion is eventually confirmed when she successfully convinces the King to accept Hrut as a bodyguard (Njal s Saga, 8). Even though the King is the superior, Gunnhild still possesses the ability to influence him. Her influence demonstrates her ability to assume and exercise a degree of power. It is through her power that Gunnhild goes on to instigate a chain of events. After having Hrut as a lover for several seasons, Gunnhild reasserts her power when Hrut asks to return to Iceland. Though she lets him return, she sends a curse along with him. She says, If I have as much power over you as I think I have, then I cast this spell: you will not have sexual pleasure with the woman you plan to marry in Iceland, though you ll be able to have your will with other women. Neither of us comes out of this well, because you did not tell me the truth (Njal s Saga, 13). The curse she places on Hrut actually comes true (Njal s Saga, 16). Hrut cannot please his wife and Gunnhild s desire to hold a degree of dominance over Hrut is fulfilled. Because Hrut wants to please his wife but cannot, his desires are unfulfilled. This suggests that Gunnhild s demands and desires are superior to those of men. It is the demands and desires of a woman that instigate events. INTJ vs ESFP In order to understand how to relate to the emotions of others, one must first be aware of his or herself, be able to manage how they feel, be familiar with how others think in order to master the relationship. Having emotional intelligence makes it possible to be successful in business, personal life, and in school. There are four preferences when it comes to interaction and these four preferences make up 16 personality types. I will compare and contrast my personality type with the complete opposite and give examples of how a typical interaction might transpire. Keywords: [Click here to add keywords.] The Intuitive Perfectionist A psychiatrist and psychotherapist by the name of Carl Jung[1] said that people experience the world through four psychological functions: sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. One function being dominant for a person s entire life. Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers wrote a book making it easier to understand how these four functions make up one s personality. They came up with 16 variations of the four functions which indicated two were preferred, one dominant and the other tertiary. The way they were able to analyze this information to make it more understandable was through the results of a test called The Myers Briggs Type Indicator ( MBTI)[1]. My MBTI After taking the MBTI [2] I learned that I had an Executive type A personality with the ESTJ A indicator[3]. E Extrovert, S Sensing(observant), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Aviation And Air Pollution Air pollution has been a severe challenge to fuel consuming industries (Wang Hao 2012). Stringent measures are to be implemented to reduce the effects of carbon emission to the environment. The WHO (2011) has acknowledged the noise environmental impact as a serious burden of disease, and recent contemporary studies have recognized a link between aviation noise and cardiovascular disease (Hnasel 2013). Limited Airspace and Airports Capacities Busy airports have sometimes had to keep aircrafts in the air in wait to land due to the lack of space and inefficient planning on arrivals and departures. This causes an increase in costs of fuel and other harmful effects. The capacity of runways, reception by taxis and the whole port should be increased to allow a smooth flow of activities. The arrival and departure routes can be separate to facilitate a continuous landing and ascent. Technology Over 60% of airlines have a strategic plan on how to improve their technique, some with programs underway. An advance in technology in the industry means easy handling of clients and better service provision (Lovelock 2011). Efficiency will be high, easy booking of tickets, fast and sophisticated security checks, reduced paper works and proper communication among others. The right technology will be an essential tool in the performance of this industry.
