Tokugawa Shoganate Research Paper
Essay #3: Write an essay on the Tokugawa shoganate There were other nations besides European
ones that were also experiencing economic gains, cultural influence, and societal growth. This
nation was Japan, and from 1603 to 1867, this nation was specifically called Tokugawa Japan.
Before Tokugawa Japan, there was civil disorder within the lives of the people living there. For
example, daimyos, who were feudal state rulers who had owned a vast amount of land and had a
major influence on the economy and state affairs of Japan, had to hire private armies to defend
their entities (Tignor et al, 505). These private trained armies were known as samurais, and were a
distinctive aspect of Tokugawa Japan. This wasn t the only set of problems that Japan

Themes In The Golden Girls
The Golden Girls is an iconic television show set in 1980 s Miami that not only provides insight
to aging in America through humor, but sometimes lectures the viewer on social topics with an
obvious liberal agenda. Even though I have probably viewed every episode hundreds of times
over the past thirty years, I still find myself eager to watch it every night at bedtime to end the
stresses of the day on a happy note. I do not always agree with the opinions expressed by the
characters or the outcome of a particular episode. However, I still come back for more each night
because most episodes end on a happy note, and that allows me to drift into sleep with a little
less stress on my mind. For seven seasons, . . . the series won several awards during its run,
including 11 Emmys and four Golden Globes (MTSU). The creator of the show, Susan Harris,
also created the 1970 s show called Soap. Both shows were produced by Paul Junger Witt and
Tony Thomas (Golden Girls: Miami Spice). While I was very young during Soap s run on
television, I have seen reruns of it a few times. It most definitely has liberal agenda themes that are
presented with humor like The Golden Girls. However, it was presented in poor taste in its acting
and storylines to present a message that could have been construed as offensive to much of the
audience back in the 1970 s. It is very rare to talk to someone today that has even heard of Soap
and it certainly has not reached cult like status

Why Do You Want In Life Essay
Life is full of many choices. Anyone can decide to choice whatever they want in life as my friends
always tell me. I have enjoyed life to its fullest. I have made both bad and good choices. When I
started school I wanted to be a Doctor but as times goes on, I decided that there is no way I can be
a Doctor. I changed my mind from that vision when I saw what Doctors do. In my life, I have tried
a lot of sports, and I can say that soccer is the best and my favorite among the rest. Soccer as sports
is the best among all because a lot of people support it all over the world; it has fewer injuries and
also international competition. Many people support soccer. Soccer has a lot of people support
it. Every country that you will go, you will see soccer pitch like every area. The majority of world
populations follow soccer because it has so many registered soccer players across the globe and
it is not surprising it has support worldwide than any other sports. I love soccer and due to that I
always go to the park and watch it. The way they play... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soccer is like everywhere. Every year, there are always competitions. Even in U.S.A alone,
sometimes U.S.A soccer teams sometimes go to different countries to play with them. In 2006,
there was world cup played in Germany. A lot of people all over the world went there to watch
their favorite players. Soccer brings unity among countries. I remember when U.S.A national team
played with Ghana soccer team, a lot of spectators enjoyed it to the fullest. So be frank, soccer
provides more opportunities to compete internationally. Compare to other sports, no all the
countries even participate it and even if they do, they don t compete for anything. This is why
soccer is my favorite because it gives a lot of opportunities to the youth to represent their country
and both youth and amateur level. It was my dream to play for my country soccer

Theme Analysis for Red Road and Rear Window Essay
Essay Analysing the themes, which wore used in the film Red Road (2006), and also the
surveillance, Misery and love and also explaining the directors (Andrea Arnold) decisions
techniques.
In this essay I am going to be analysing the themes, which have been used in the film Red road
(2006) and compare it to rear window (1954). I will also be looking at the CCTV surveillance. I will
also be looking at misery and love and how does this change the characters objective along the
film. I will also be looking and explain the directors decision and techniques which she has used in
this film.
Andrea Arnold decision techniques with close ups and choice of vision in story telling via Jackie
and the CCTV surveillance works well as it does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This however turns out they just wanted to have sex with each other which Jackie soon finds out
while she watches. Red road does engage the audience into watching what the actual character is
watching with CCTV, which makes us, feel apart of the story and makes us want to keep on
watching. CCTV surveillance does create tension as the audience do not know what will be
happening as the CCTV footage is basically showing live events.
In the opening of the film we as an audience are introduced to a female CCTV operator who
happens to be Jackie. With this opening it kind of lets us know that this film is related to CCTV
and that this female CCTV operator Jackie has a key part in the film. On the other hand although
red road and CCTV surveillance is structured through the story I don t think it is necessarily about
CCTV, It s more about Clyde and Jackie and unravelling past into her finding out what really
happened and why he did what he did when he accidently killed her husband and daughter.
Voyeurism
Voyeurism is also used in this film. By voyeurism I mean the spying between Jackie and Clyde
where she is pursing his every step and wanting to find out more information about him and the
need to want to get very close to him.
Voyeurism is a key element in how the story is told in red road. The reason for this being is due to
the fact that we as an audience are introduced to a

A Brief Biography of Clara Barton
I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I
can stand and feed and nurse them, Clara Barton once said. She was always quick to help others,
and put their lives before her own. She wasn t very talkative, but she was very generous. Barton
was named The Angel of The Battlefield she got this name while she was considering having an
escort and months after he has been her escort that s what she got named. Clara would make sure
she gave the soldiers the correct care they needed. Clara Bartonchanged the health for many.
Barton benefited in changing others health, prior to her helping and nursing her brother, when
Clara was 11 years old, after his accident for two years. Clara did not attend school for two years,
that way she could constantly be there for her brother. She learned to dispense all of his
medicine, even the Great, loathsome crawling leeches. Finally Barton s parents hired a steam
doctor She would always put his and anyone else s health before her own. She once said The door
that nobody else will go in at, seems always to open widely for me.
Barton was always sure to help the soldiers be as healthy as she could possibly make them. She
made a donation and people would donate food and games to the soldiers. Barton would take food
to where the soldiers would be. There is no food left in its track for a rabbit to eat, and, indeed, no
rabbit to eat it, if there were, Clara Barton stated. If a

Impact Of Environmental Communication On Public Sphere On...
Title: Impact of Environmental Communication in Public Sphere on Urban Youth in Gujarat 1
Introduction Environment has attained centrality in the national and international arena in the past
few decades. The primary reason for this has been environmental degradation as a consequence of
varied socio economic, institutional and technological factors. The need for sensitisation is
imperative and which can be substantially achieved through legislation and communication.
Communication designs of environmental issues influence public awareness, opinion, and action.
Environmental awareness or the subsequent lack thereof, have been on a rise for a while now with
rise in population, changing political ideologies, increased private investments and overall
privatisation and a dominant enshrining of the pro development philosophy of the West. With such
tendencies, as humans grow in number, so does the dependency on nature and the lookout for
space, an insatiable cycle of production and consumption commences and with this, the Earth our
primary producer is reduced to commodity status. In a world dominated by human beings, where
often the rights of the natural world and of animals dependent on it, are trampled upon,
communication can play an important role in providing a channel for expression, discussion and
action. Industrialisation continues to displace indigenous people on a large scale level resulting in
various grassroots movements, all in the name of development. People

Pamela Anderson Ad Analysis
The Non Profit Association People for the Ethnic Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as
PETA, released an ad in 2010 where Pamela Anderson was dressed in a bikini and looked as if
she had been marked by a butcher to be slaughtered and to have several of her body parts cut off
for the consumption of meat ( All animals... ). In the ad, Pamela Andersonis looking very sexy and
she is in a very provocative sitting position and is tagged as if she were an animalin various areas of
her body like her breast, legs, shoulders, ribs, among other parts. The message PETA was trying
to get across was that people and animals have the same parts and they were trying to persuade
the public to go vegetarian. The PETA ad was banned in several countries like Canada for being
too provocative and over sexualized. This isn t the first time the association is caught in this type
of situation, many of its ads like the Last Longer ( Last Longer ), Veggie Love ( Veggie Love ) ,
and Sex and the Kitty ( Sex and ) were banned for being too sexual and overly explicit. Although
PETA is trying to shine the light on the problems that animals suffer because of humans, the type of
attention that they get tends to be negative. Instead of getting the animalsthe help they need, their
ads get banned and deemed insulting and inappropriate. The Pamela Anderson Ad was said to be
offensive and very controversial. PETA is known for using celebrities to attract the public s
attention but this ad in

Biography of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was born on March 19, 1848 in
Monmouth, Illinois. His father Nicholas was a lawyer who preferred a life of farming. From an
early age, Wyatt learned from his father to stand up for what was right. When Wyatt was two
years old, the family moved to Iowa. In 1861, the Civil War broke out, and Wyatt s father and three
older brothers joined the Union Army. Soon after, Wyatt ran away to enlist, but his father caught
him and sent him back home. In 1864, Nicholas left the army, and the family set out for the West. It
took seven months to travel from Iowa to California. On the way they encountered Indians at Fort

Drinking establishments, like Brennan s, welcomed these dealers and gave them a percentage
of the house take for the trade they generated. Both of the Thompsons were crooks; and they
were killers. Wyatt had heard of them and, although sensing the gambler s urge many an
evening, avoided their tables. Wyatt had been in town only short term when he found himself at
odds with the Thompson brothers. Lingering in the shade of a balcony outside Brennan s Saloon
one afternoon, he became aware of loud name calling bouncing back and forth between two men
inside the gin mill. From what he deduced, it sounded like a simple case of card game larceny.
He didn t pay much attention to the disturbance until Sheriff Whitney and two deputies appeared
on the boardwalk and turned into the saloon. A cowboy was telling the sheriff that he had been
swindled out of money by the fast hands of gambler Bill Thompson. Both the Thompsons denied
it. But, when the lawman threatened to break up the game once and for all, Bill produced a
double barreled shotgun from below his chair and, at point blank range, fired a volley into the
sheriff s chest. Horrified and dismayed, Wyatt watched the pair of deputies cower into the
sidelines, then sulk out the side door without even the decency to take their boss s body off the
floor. It was more than Wyatt could take. What kind of a town is this? he snapped at the deputies
who now stood meekly across the square. Between them, equally timid, was

In June 2010, Kanye West, along with Roc A Fella Records LLC, and UMG Recordings INC
were sued by Vincent Peters claiming that Kanye copied parts of his song from 2006. Both songs
are titled Stronger . The lawsuit asked for Kanye to stop reproducing/selling/ distributing/ and
publicly performing the song. It also asked the court to force Kanye/Roc A Fella Records/UMG to
destroy all copies of the song and give up all profits from the record (damages sought were not

his Stronger and believed that it was his ticket to making it big in the industry. Kanye is a very

Sistine Chapel Choir Essay
Sistine Chapel Choir
The Sistine Chapel Choir was established in the late 1400 s which makes it one of the oldest
choirs in the world. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto,
tenor, and bass. Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section;
meanwhile, the soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the
choir, men were castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate.
The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The
famous reformer Martin Luther praised Josquin Desprez saying, He is a master of notes; they
do as he wills, as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery
there is very little information on his early life. Josquin Desprez started out as a singer for the
choir in 1489 to 1495. He eventually wrote fifteen settings of the mass. Josquin s music is filled with
a calm soothing effect. His music has a heavenly feel and an angelic echo that words cannot

Palestrina was a member of the choir until he married. He broke the celibate rule for members;
therefore, the church kicked him out of the choir. Although he was no longer a member for the
choir, he still wrote compositions for the choir. Palestrina wrote many different compositions. He
built up his predecessor s craft and refined them. His work is the pinnacle of renaissance
polyphony. His most important work is the Missa Papae Marcelli which saved polyphony music
from being discarded from the Roman Catholic Church. The Council of Trent decided the church
music was getting to the point where no one could understand the words. After hearing Missa
Papae Marcelli the council decided the words could be understood and should be kept; therefore,

Theme Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci
In the beginning of La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats presents love in a negative light through
the knight s loneliness. The knight is shown to be, Alone and palely loitering? The verb phrase,
palely loitering is used to present the miserable and lamentable emotions flowing through the
knight s mind as he solely waits for his loved one. The premodifier palely is explicitly used as a
colour imagery to illustrate his dim mood due to his feelings of isolation. Keats also describes the
deterioration of the surroundings in the poem through the personification of the sedge which has
withered from the lake . In this personification, the concrete noun sedge represents the state of their
relationship, the fact that it has withered signifies that their relationship has ended. Despite how
faithfully the knight waits, his loved one will not return. The personification of the sedge can be
seen as a pathetic fallacy which suggests the tragic consequences that the knight will have to face.
As a result of Keats description of the knight s lamentable feelings and loneliness in waiting for his
love, the theme of unrequited love is portrayed in the poem La Belle Dame sans Merci in a negative

This is evident when, She looked at him as she did love, / And made sweet moan . The noun
phrase, she did love suggests the bias perspective of the knight, the woman may have only decided
to have sexual intercourse with him to favour his sexual desires; thus do not represent her affection
for him. The sudden change of meter from iambic tetrameter to iambic dimeter in the line And
made sweet moan causes a sense of foreboding; hinting that the love between the woman and the
knight will not last long. Nevertheless, through the negative consequences caused by the obsession
the knight has for the woman, Keats aims to express obsessive love in a negative

Conflict is an inevitable and is part of business life, where there are people there will always be
conflict, not all conflict is negative. Some workplace conflict s healthy and if viewed positively,
however where unhealthy conflict is present it has a potential risk to cause the company serious
problems Workplace conflict can be in many forms from serious flare ups to less obvious, but less
destructive forms of negativity. Workplace conflict can be caused by personality clashes or style

Low trust can paralyze the business because conflict situations are addressed with ridicule,
anger, or silence and results in fear of conflict, and lack of commitment. In the same company
the MD promised staff things but would never carry them out, this made staff frustrated and
they did not trust anything he said and this generated a very poor work environment. Under
performance can create more conflict, have a major effective on the business strategy,
productivity, morale of other team members. Resulting in failure to pass on information or act
on information received, withdrawal or non communicative behaviour, aggressiveness towards
others, lengthy absences from the work area, excessive or unexplained absenteeism, unusually
delayed completion of work. In my experience under performance is generally down to poor
management or the style of the manager. Covert sabotage is deliberate damage to work
processes and of management s efforts and usually occurs when employees are angry at their
employer but it can be directed at fellow employee especially when conflict exists. A good
example of this was when I was an apprentice on of my colleagues had the lock of his tool cabinet
filled with glue which meant he could not unlock it and get his tools out to start work. It later
came to light that this was done by one of his colleagues because he was always getting the best
jobs and he was the foreman s favourite. Low morale has a destructive effect on performance,

democracy can be unfair, very inefficient at times and also inequality. Yet, both authors don t see

equality of resources in her poem, Rose talks about equality in terms of judgement and
accusations toward the accused defendant. This makes their perspectives similar yet different in
some ways. In the excerpt from 12 Angry Men , Reginald Rose shows the reader how democracy

Anything can and will happen especially in combat, that s why the team member should make
sure that the team or squad leader know where the soldier and his or her equipment is at all
times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and belongings for the soldiers, so the
Army expects to know where its equipment is. No matter what someone is always responsible
for equipment in the Army. Accountability is important because it assures someone that needs

Without accountability you would not be able to put your trust in someone to complete a job

deaf students. Sign language is a type of communication that is used with hand, body and facial
expressions. Spoken language can be used with words because we can hear our surroundings and
what is being told to us to become educated. On the other hand, the deaf community cannot hear
their surroundings or the spoken language. Therefore, the deaf community has an alphabet that is
made of many signs used by their hands. Some words can be used to demonstrate one to two words
at a time to communicate their wants and needs of the recipient. Sign language is not universal

Weaknesses Of The Articles Of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation were placed as a form of temporary government. However, the
Articles did not address the many problems the United States was having and going to have at the
time. Therefore The Articles of Confederation were one of the weakest forms of functioning
governments.
After many years of fighting for independence, America needed a break from any type of
government. Well you see in order to have a functioning country you need some type of
functioning government. When the idea of a government came up many were fearful of what
could happen. What if they resorted back to the old ways? What if all those years of fighting for
independence were for nothing? Congress had to start somewhere. And in November 1777, The
Articles of Confederation were accepted. The Continental Congress adopted the Articles of
Confederation, the first constitution of the United States, on November 5, 1777. The main purpose
of the Articles of Confederation was to have something to hold on to while America set up.
However there Articles did not deal very well with state things. Such as dealing with foreign
relations and economic conditions. When accepted the Articles were only to work under certain
conditions. Conditions being those such as not interfering with other states and their commerce. Or
states that had not paid if war debts. Out of fear of becoming their enemy they thought that it was a
good idea. Congress created many departments and one of them was the Department of

Military Deception Analysis
Identifying the principles that determine the success of Denial and Deception efforts
The carrying out of every mission, rather operational or tactical is based on these six principles of
military deception:
Focus Predisposition of the Target
Timeliness Strategic Initiative
Integration Secrecy, Organization, Coordination
Security Plausibility and Confirmation of the Lie
Centralized control Adaptability
Objective The acceptance of the deception
Tools of deception (Focus, Objective, Centralized Planning and Control, Security, Timeliness, and

Brutus s Responsibility In Julius Caesar
Honourable people have been known to perform credible acts typically characterized by integrity
and candor which have earned them the respect of many people. Throughout the entire play, Brutus
has shown various examples of an appropriate claim to honour which is what makes him the most
honourable man. He has been able to stand by his morals, take responsibility for his actions, and
was able to earn the respect of many characters in the play, including his enemies.
With the lingering idea of Julius Caesar s rise to dictatorial power, many of the Roman politicians
are beginning to become anxious, since an emperor of Rome would mean an end to the Roman
republic and their own power. In spite of this, many of them seek to end his life and want Brutus
to join in on the conspiracy. Brutus agrees to join the conspiracy but only because it helps the
Roman people. Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. (3.2.21) In Brutus speech
he justifies that his morals of putting the Roman people first were always true, and that the stabbing
of Caesar was necessary in upholding those morals. We are shown that even ... Show more content

believed that he was the cause of ruination of Rome, and so his suicide was his means to give the
Roman people what they deserve. It is more worthy to leap in ourselves than tarry till they push

Why Should We Brush Our Teeth
We all know we should brush our teeth but have you given much thought on which toothbrush you
should be using? You want to choose the best brush to keep that perfect smile looking healthy and
sparkling clean.
If you think about it not much has changed in the overall look and theory of this ancient invention.
The look is similar to the brushes of the dark ages, but the materials used to make our modern
brushes are certainly different. Our (very) ancient ancestors used a thin twig with a frayed end to
rub away food from their teeth. Then they created more sophisticated versions with handles made
of bone, wood or ivory with the brushes crafted from the bristles of boars or other animals. With
today s multitude of choices of color, style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many variations of the toothbrush, but basically you need to decide upon manual or
powered.
The toothbrush head should be small enough that it can reach each tooth. The bristles should be
soft, with rounded ends so you will feel comfortable brushing your gums.
Whichever type of toothbrush you settle on its always best to go with the style or brand that your
dentist recommends.
Powered toothbrushes are they better?
Both powered and manual toothbrushes can clean your teeth effectively. You may find that you
prefer an electric toothbrush because it takes less time to effectively clean your teeth than with a
manual brush. Electric toothbrushes are also a good choice for anyone who has limited dexterity,
such as arthritic fingers or hands.
Getting children to brush their teeth is sometimes a chore in itself and left to their own devices,
getting them to keep brushing for the recommended two to three minutes is sometimes impossible.
Using a power toothbrush may help children to be more motivated and excited about brushing their
teeth.

Taxing Junk Food Research Paper

ENG 112
11/15/15
It Is Time to Tax Junk Food We live in a busy era. In a blink of an eye a week and even a month
passes by. Time is precious, and people are trying to cut corners in order to get things done faster.
Most families have both parents working. After a long working day there is no desire to spend
another couple of hours by the stove preparing dinner. The convenience of fast foodhas replaced
most family s homemade meals. Because of this, many Americans, especially children, eat
processed food every day. The usual menu consist of a sugary cereal for breakfast, a hot dog and
chips for lunch, and chicken nuggets and fries for dinner. Such processed food has a little or no
nutritional value, which is why it is often called junk food. But why would any parent feed junk to
their children? Is the body a garbage disposal? Why do people choose unhealthy foods? The
problem is that it is very cheap, tasty, and in most cases it does not require cooking, which saves
people a lot of time and money. However, junk food should be taxed because of these three
reasons. First, it causes people to be overweight which leads to many health problems. Second,
taxing junk food will encourage people to choose a healthier diet. ... Show more content on

One of the biggest health care breakthrough was when the government had decided to impose tax
on cigarettes. One article statistics show that every 10 percent price increase on cigarettes
reduced sales by about three percent overall, and seven percent among teenagers (Kristof,

decrease in cases of lung cancer. Just like cigarettes, processed food is related to health problems.
Applying the tax on it is the next logical step. Higher prices on junk food will discourage people
from purchasing it, which will promote healthier

Analysis Of Second Sex By Simone De Beauvoir
In Simone De Beauvoir Second Sex, the author aims to define what it is be a woman. It is difficult
to pin down the definition of something that has a multitude of meanings to different people. The
author makes the claim that although someone is female they may not identify as a woman. In an
effort to define women, men have made the comparison against themselves. The essence of woman
through the eyes of men is purely a sexual being. The Man views himself as the superior being
while only viewing women in terms of personal benefit. De Beauvoir goes on to state a man can
imagine himself without a woman yet, a woman cannot imagine herself without man. Not much has

Weinstein would frequently tell the women that all actresses would partake in those type of
behaviors therefore, they should as well. Men who sexually harass women choose to prioritize
their desires over the potential long term trauma the victim will most likely endure. It also brought
to light another abuser, the bystander. Men of all ages stand by as inappropriate jokes are made at
woman s behalf. In the Weinstein scandal, numerous celebrities came forward stating they heard
about rumors involving weinstein but never the full extent. Too often people, men in particular, are
willing to protect the abuser because it is easier to ignore the situation altogether. Harvey Weinstein
had female assistants who would bring actresses to the disgraced producer knowing he would put
the young actress in an uncomfortable position. Downplaying the oppression of women will only
make it more difficult for there to be true gender equality. Gender equality can also be expanded
to the many genders that people choose to identify with today. All genders other than the Man are
currently seen as second class citizens. Once the subconscious gender oppression ceases to play a
role in our work and social environments, genders can finally be equal. That means jokes are not
made based on gender, pursuit of happiness should not be dictated by gender, sexual desires will

Offshoring and Outsourcing Term Paper
Term Paper The debate of outsourcing or offshoring American jobs rather than utilizing our
unemployed citizens has been a highly controversial topic in the past decade. Outsourcing has
many advantages to business firms such as lower production costs, lower labor costs, improved
quality of work, more time to focus on domestic operations, and increased profits which help
stimulate our economy. The opposing view argues that by outsourcingjobs to other countries it is
causing higher unemployment in America and stimulating the economies of other nations rather
than our own by providing them with jobs, resources, facilities and capital. Though there will never

Companies can now manage foreign partners in any country with use of the internet, webcams,
phone conferences, and even the ability to control and monitor finances, bookkeeping, and other
operations from computers at the offices here in America. Another trend America has seen over
the past few decades is the shift from manufacturing to services. With the ability to outsource
production jobs the American economy has been much more focused on service careers, which
are something that can be outsourced to serve foreign customers but will always have a place in
the American marketplace since services must be consumed at purchase, meaning to serve
American customers the service providers must operate within US borders. The ease of
offshoring and the benefits it provides makes the idea of global expansion very attractive, but
there are still aspects of offshoring that make the concept undesirable to others. There is large
opposition to the idea of outsourcing jobs to foreign countries when there is such a high level of
unemployment here in America. By 2015 the number of American jobs expected to be lost to
outsourcing since 2000 is 3.3 million according to a recent report by Forrester Research (

The fog is the motif that represents the memory of the author, an expression of guilt and
culpability. He was part of the fog The first impression the author has towards the Vietnam
soldier. The fog is misty and he cannot see the man clearly. He does t know the man or hasn t seen
his face, but he kills the man under stress. It isn t until the dead man dropped to the floor with a
star hole in the eyes that the author feels fear and guilt. Although his comrade keeps on comforting
him, his culpability left an utterly indelible mark in his mind. In reality, after the war, every time
the author thinks or sees a fog, he relates to the war and brings back the painful memory. Fog
triggers his memory and hinders his feeling. Furthermore, fog has another hidden meaning, this is a
usage of the ambiguity technique. The author is trying to bring out uncertainty with the fog. It s
opaque, and may not be seen through. And just like the situation the author is facing, to kill or not
to kill, uncertainty rises, it is a dilemma. Tim O Brien is stuck between choices, in doubt whether he
should tell the incident to his daughter, whether he should kill the man or not, the contradiction
makes him feel unbearably guilty. This is what the author intends to accentuate: war should be
discouraged, it is the cause of disaster. The author strongly opposes to war as it only stirs up
painful memories and death.

The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis
Section 2: SWOT Analysis
The theory of the SWOT analyses
The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by
analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that
might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and
threats (Anja Böhm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a
business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful
development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT
simply stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter,
2009: 27).
Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s
strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only
acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final
decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that
could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because
some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses
competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t
highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can
sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the
problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be
placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An
example of this would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a
strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness to this is that
it would have very high

A Separate Peace Character Analysis
Many people have their own definition of evil. In the dictionary the definition is profoundly
immoral and malevolent. My personal definition of evil is putting your needs before others,
hurting someone or making their life miserable just so you have a better advantage to succeeding
in your life. A Separate Peace is about a boy named Gene Forrester who returns to his school called
the Devon school. He attended the school when he was young during World War
II. Gene is a
hardworking student who is devoted to his studies. Finny on the other hand, is terrible at
schoolwork but is a tremendous athlete. In my point of view Gene is a ruthless evil person.
To start, Gene is an evil person because his jealously over Finny annoys him. Why? Finny is
basically a good looking guy who is good at almost anything, even getting out of trouble. Since
Gene is jealous of Finny s way of sliding pass everything, the jealousy in him has turned him evil

Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design
If you or someone close to you have ever had any interest in the graphic design field, you have
probably faced the dilemma yourself or have seen them agonize over the decision to go to
college. Graphic design is a fairly new field, but especially in the past decade the career field has
gained momentum with the increasing improvements with technology and the need for logo
branding, advertisements, and web or app platform aesthetics. Some prefer to call the degree Mass
Communications or Digital Media because of the relation with Graphic Designas designing physical
media such as magazines, while more and more of our modern media is consumed digitally. The
major is usually a new program or class and becoming a very common major, however many
famous graphic designers, such as Alexey Brodovitch or Karen X. Cheng, decided not to attend
or finish college because their portfolio was impressive and they simply did not need to, or
because of the cost. While a degree in Graphic Design is an art degree that can almost guarantee
you some type of job, it is still an art degree. With inflation and tuition costs through the sky, 50K a
semester for an art degree does not seem like highway robbery, it absolutely can be.
So let s look at the pros for attending college for graphic design. If you or that friend or
acquaintance you know is like me, then you know the stress of making a portfolio. For those who
do not know what a portfolio quite is, it is basically the art equivalent of a resume.

The main female role, Lisa Carol Freemont shows this by being a more active and adventurous
role rather than being the passive, boring role most women seem to portray, including Mrs
Thorwald. The film shows the main character, Jeff, as been limited to sitting in a wheelchair out the
front of his rear window, whilst he does this, he makes up wild opinions about his neighbour and
decides that he s guilty of murder. To try prove this whilst restricted to a wheelchair is difficult,
so he remains in the observing role while the female roles such as Lisa and Stella step in, take

Unit 207 Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings.
Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support.
1.1 Define Person centred values.
Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved
in all aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This
means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person
centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the
residents at the centre of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their
families in the planning and maintaining of this.

The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates.
Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their
needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around
them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able
to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that
they could perfectly well manage without support.
Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support.
3.1 Define the word consent
Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to
happen or agreement to do something.
3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support.
When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their
own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care,
support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their
consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this.
Gaining consent protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as
well. If no consent is given then you cannot proceed with the care. It is illegal to pressure anyone

On 5/16/17 I was able to visit Ms. Perez at Select Specialty Hospital. I met with Theresa the
internal case manager from Select Hospital. We were able to have a case conference at the
bedside with her husband. Throughout the whole meeting Ms. Perez appeared to be sleeping. She
remains on a 28% trachea mask, nasal gastric tube, tube feeding for nutrition, non weight bearing to
the lower extremities secondary to fractures (non weight bearing is projected at 6 to 8 more
weeks), and the right arm has a cast. Occupational therapysaid they get her up in a cardiac chairs
but she is a full lift by staff. Ms. Perez weighed 312 lbs. Respiratory therapy reported that they will
try to wean her trachea size down and work towards capping and then removing at some point. Mr.
Perez asked what pain medication she was on because all she does is sleep. I asked the case
manager to check and she what her level of alertness is on the second and third shifts. Per the
EMS and ER report Ms. Perez was thought to have had a seizure and a full cardiac arrestat the scene
with active CPR by a bystander, but once in ER she was alert and oriented. The CT scan of the
head was negative. Nursing reported that she is only on one Norco every eight hours for pain
and a very low dose of Gabapentin. He also reported that a Neuropsychologist was in on Sunday
to see her, and he increased her Cymbalta. We did confirm with Mr. Perez that before the accident

A Report On The Car Travel
Introduction
Private vehicles are at the forefront of the growing epidemic regarding carbon pollution and
climate change. (Click) In Australia, cars accounted for 48% of transport emissions in 2013
(Trends in transport greenhouse gas emissions, 2013). However to combat this issue, many cities
around the world have actively discouraged the use of private motor vehicles when travelling in and
around the city. They aim to reduce the prevalence of cars through the promotion of bicycles,
walking and public transport. In Europe, two cities have successfully implemented strategies and
campaigns to increase the amount of bicycle travel in and around the cities centre, these are
Copenhagen and Houten. The aim of this presentation is to investigate cities where car travel has
been discouraged and hence decreased and if and how these strategies can be adopted in Brisbane.
Brisbane
Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia and capital of Queensland accommodating
over 2.3 million people, thus it serves as an excellent basis to introduce a regime targeting at
reduced carbon emissions through a decrease in car use. In Brisbane it is evident that driving to
work, school and for leisure activities is the primary form of transport among adults. As evident by
this map... Whilst many people live in the inner suburbs, representation from the outer suburbs or
Greater Brisbane is high. With 64.2% people travelling by car, a campaign must be developed in
order to reduce this. A major

Newfoundland Fishing Industry
The closing of the cod fisheries marked one of the most devastating moments in history for the
province of Newfoundland. However, Sue Bailey wrote an article discussing the return, the
comeback of the Newfoundland fishing industry once again. Bailey refers to a federal report
stating cod stocks are still in a parlous state, although a union of fishermen wish to expand the cod
fishery. While the cod fishery was thought to be gone, the recovery rate of the species are
remarkable; ...total biomass was up seven percent from 2015 to 2016, there is still much recovery
to be done. Ocean biologists hypothesize the lifting of inshore and offshore cod fishery ban in the
next three years. Another reference to the federal report; there is an estimate of about... Show more

Obviously mismanagement is a factor overfishing itself, and is the result of the limit for cod placed
by the federal government. As well, the the advancement in geotechnology, like radars, sonars and
satellite navigation systems helped find large fish bodies, all rapidly collected with trawlers.
Another undiscussed matter, is climate change; over the years it has played a significant change
in driving away fish populations because of dropping temperatures and changing of salinity. One
idea discussed by the article is the monitoring of cod numbers, as well as monitoring the seal
population. The article states to limit seal population to keep the fish alive; the textbook states
They contend that the greater number of seals ate larger quantities of caplin, a small fish that is a
major food source of groundfish, (pg 285). I find that bringing back the sealing industry could help
maintain cod numbers, functioning as a way to bring back 2 banned commercial

Importance Of 21st Century Teaching And Learning
21st Century teaching and learning is about transforming educational practices to equip students
with the skills and know how they will need to navigate life in the 21st century. Bolstad, Gilbert,
McDowell, Bull, Boyd and Hopkins argue that 21st century learning and teaching can be
considered as an emerging cluster of new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices (Bolstad
et. al., 2012, p. 1). In the Industrial age of thinking the educationsystem was modelled on a factory
assembly line and the role of the educator was to prepare students for the industrial workforce.
However, we are now living in the age coined the Knowledge era, where new information is
rapidly being created every day and job markets are shifting and expanding; the top jobs in 2012,
didn t exist in 2002 (EF Explore America, 2012). Because society is undergoing change at an
alarming rate creating new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices, the role of education
is becoming unclear. Leaders across the globe are calling for students to have more sophisticated
skills such as evaluating and analysing information and thinking critically and creatively to solve
real world problems (Silva, 2008). Therefore, 21st centurylearningmethods are child centred and
have a focus on innovation, collaboration, exploration, cultural awareness, creativity and problem
solving, so that children will be ready for the future and whatever it may bring.
Traditional education was modelled on the industrial age

Comparing Nicolo Machiavelli s The Prince
While the human race is incredibly diverse and expansive, many writers and philosophers work to
find common characteristics that they can attribute to what is typically referred to as human nature.
Nicolo Machiavelli provides his beliefs on human nature in his text, The Prince. While this work
mostly surrounds the proper way to lead a princedom, there are many parts of the text that show
how humannature affects the way a prince should rule his people. The examples of princes having
to work around humanity provided over the course of Machiavelli s work ultimately reflect what he
considers to be flaws within human beings everywhere. An extensive examination of the devices
and techniques used within Nicolo Machiavelli s The Princeshows how he believes human beings
are self interested beings that can only be ruled through deception and force. The continuation of
life and avoidance of death are two of the most essential goals for any and all living species.
Machiavelli is correct in pointing out that, despite their complexity, human beings are still subject
to these laws. Even a figure as authoritative as the prince still has to consider his mortality and
find ways to preserve his life. Machiavelli examines the ways a prince can defend himself when
he says, men are either to be treated kindly, or utterly crushed, since they can revenge lighter
injuries, but not graver, (Machiavelli 4). The diction used in this passage illustrates a sharp contrast
in the ways a prince can

Managing Marketing Channels: Zara|
One global retailer is expanding at a dizzying pace. It s on track for what appears to be world
domination of its industry. Having built its own state of the art distribution network, the company
is leaving the competition in the dust in terms of sales and profits, not to mention speed of
inventory management and turnover. Wal Mart you might think? Dell possibly? Although these
two retail giants definitely fit the description, we re talking here about Zara, the flagship specialty
chain of Spain based clothing conglomerate, Inditex.

In 1975, Amancio Ortega opened the first Zara store in Spain s remote northwest town of La
Coruna, home to Zara s headquarters. Having already worked in the textile industry for two
decades, his experience led him to design a system in which he could control every aspect of the
supply chain, from design and production to distribution and retailing. He knew, for example, that
in the textile business, the biggest mark ups were made by wholesalers and retailers. He was
determined to maintain control over these activities.
Ortega s original philosophy forms the heart of Zara s unique, rapid fire supply chain today. But it s
Zara s high tech information system that has taken vertical integration in the company to an
unprecedented level. According to CEO Pablo Isla, Our information system is absolutely avant
guard. It s what links the shop to our designers and our distribution system.
Zara s vertically integrated system makes the starting point of a product concept hard to nail
down. At Zara s headquarters, creative teams of more than 300 professionals carry out the
design process. But they act on information fed to them from the stores. This goes far beyond
typical point of sales data. Store managers act as trend spotters. Every day they report hot fads to
headquarters, enabling popular lines to be tweaked and slow movers to be whisked away within
hours. If customers are asking for a rounded neck on a vest rather than a V neck, such an item can

Essay on The Veldt Short Story Analysis
Too Much Technology The Veldt by Ray Bradbury is a short story about a husband and wife
who buy a Happylife Home to do all of their daily chores. It includes a nursery that will respond
to whatever a person thinks. In this short story, Bradbury suggests of technology is reaching a
point where it is no longer helpful, but harmful. This theme is portrayed through Bradbury s use
of stylistic devices, and character. Bradbury s style throughout his story aids in portraying his
theme of technology s harmful effects. Irony is a one of the stylistic devices that he uses. When a
person thinks of a nursery, he pictures a safe, happy place where children can play with their
siblings and parents. In this story however, Bradbury keeps the... Show more content on

George and Lydia feel unnecessary in the house because the house does everything for them.
Lydia says, she feels like she does not belong there. The house is wife and mother now, and
nursemaid. Can she give a bath and scrub the children as efficiently or quickly as the automatic
scrub bath can? She cannot. Technology has made her feel useless. The two children, Peter and
Wendy, are two perfect example of how technology can negatively affect children. They spend
countless hours inside the nursery and barely any time with their parents. They are pretty much
devastated when George said that he is going to shut down the house. The children do not know
what life is like without the house to do everything for them. Peter even says, Would I have to tie
my own shoes instead of letting the shoe tier do it? And brush my own teeth, and comb my hair,
and give myself a bath? (Bradbury) . This child does not even know how to comb his own hair
because he has had a mechanical house do it for him his entire life. Through the use of advanced
technology, Bradbury expresses his theme when he discloses the uselessness of the mother, and the
helplessness of the children. Through the use of stylistic devices and character, Bradbury conveys
his theme of the destructiveness of technology. He shows the reader that if technology reaches a
point where it is doing daily chores and simple tasks for society, then we

Summary Of Remembering My Childhood On The Continent Of...

Journal Entry #2
David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of
Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the
Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the
excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of
his own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions,
personal experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes
satisfaction in passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more
interesting. The field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the
difference in lifestyle between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay
is to show the aspects of both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel
proud using his friend s stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I
went to the theater at the nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking
Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he
left the theater two hours later, to find a dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of
the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The quote above indicates that the author is being naГЇve
and childish. No boy or child who is as young as he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead
person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain events are parallel, but compared with
Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven years old, my family moved to
North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven years old, Hugh s family
moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and Satan. I threw stones
at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs the reader that the
author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Additionally, the thesis is
stated and not implied because the author openly asserts that, When I m told such stories,

Relationships and Setting in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!...
Relationships and Setting in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!
O Pioneers!(1993) by Willa Cather begins on a blustery winter day, in the town of Hanover,
Nebraska, sometime between 1883 and 1890. The narrator introduces four main character: the very
young Emil Bergson; his older sister, Alexandra; her friend Carl Linstrum; and a little girl, Marie
Shabata. Alexandra s father, John Bergson, is dying. He tells his two oldest sons, Lou and Oscar,
that he is leaving the farmland, and all of what he has accomplished, to their sister.
Alexandra is a hard working young lady and will do anything to make her father proud. When the
drought and depression struck three years later, Alexandra s determination to keep the farm allows
her to persevere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lou and Oscar are married and each of them owns their own farm. Alexandra s farm is still the
most prosperous on the entire Divide. Emil is grown up and is leaving the Divide for the State
University. Carl Linstrum returns for a long visit after years of being gone. Marie is unhappily
married and it becomes very evident that her and Emil are falling in love.
This novel measures the influence of an individual against human desires and the forces of nature.
For example, Alexandra s relationship with the land summarizes the struggle between human
desires and the larger forces than manipulate individuals. This difficult relationship between
individuals and society is one of the most dominant themes and is depicted throughout the novel by
using setting to reflect the characters.
In the first sentence, Cather establishes a sense of symbolism when the narrator states ...the little
town of Hanover...was trying not to be blown away (1). Cather is personifying the prairie s
existence to help paint a picture of both the beauty and the difficulty of pioneer life. Much of the
opening section of the novel focuses itself to a description, and more importantly, to a
characterization of the land, setting personified forces and individuals into conflict with each other.
In this novel, the forces of nature are so powerful that they overwhelm the settlers. The narrator
states this fact when stating, The record of the plow was insignificant, like the feeble scratches on

Hurt Locker Analyse
The Hurt Locker is a film written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It depicts
several solders journeys while they are station at Camp Victory in Iraq. TH title is GI slang for a
severe injury, however it s commonly used in American sports like hockey. TO many this may have
seemed like another war movie but the use of sound and camera movement is what makes this
movie so engaging.
The writer depicts the theme of how war can be an addiction, and how the soldiers must use the
drug in order to survive war. This is emphasized through the main character; not only through his
actions but also symbolically through the cigarettes he smokes. This concept is more clearly shown
at the end of the film when James goes home and he cant stop thinking about the war. He ends up
returning to battle, despite having to leave his son and wife again. ... Show more content on

Narrative Therapy Essay
Introduction Often times, people live through painful events in their life that can alter their
perception of themselves, their family, and the world. Narrative therapy offers the client the
opportunity to re write their story and gain a different perspective of specific events. It is important
to understand that within the history of narrativetherapy, therapists view client s stories through a
political lens. Often times, focusing on the oppression and cultural dominance that exists within the
constructs of our society. Thus, empowering clients to change their story allows them to break free
from the constraints that have shaped their outlook and allow for alternative ways of thinking.
Background of Narrative Therapy According to Atkinson Leslie (2011), narrative therapy is a
postmodern approach, which holds the client as the center of their own perceptions and results in
their personal actions and beliefs. The therapist is there to assist the author (client) in re writing or
developing new stories so that change can occur. This allows the family to create new roles and
understanding of themselves and their family, by creating a new story. Michael White was the
pioneer of narrative therapy and along with David Epston s approach to storytelling and therapeutic
letters they were able to develop this approach. Michael White s wife, Cheryl White, was also
instrumental in assisting these men in the development and publication of their works. Their work
was made

  • 2. Tokugawa Shoganate Research Paper Essay #3: Write an essay on the Tokugawa shoganate There were other nations besides European ones that were also experiencing economic gains, cultural influence, and societal growth. This nation was Japan, and from 1603 to 1867, this nation was specifically called Tokugawa Japan. Before Tokugawa Japan, there was civil disorder within the lives of the people living there. For example, daimyos, who were feudal state rulers who had owned a vast amount of land and had a major influence on the economy and state affairs of Japan, had to hire private armies to defend their entities (Tignor et al, 505). These private trained armies were known as samurais, and were a distinctive aspect of Tokugawa Japan. This wasn t the only set of problems that Japan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Themes In The Golden Girls The Golden Girls is an iconic television show set in 1980 s Miami that not only provides insight to aging in America through humor, but sometimes lectures the viewer on social topics with an obvious liberal agenda. Even though I have probably viewed every episode hundreds of times over the past thirty years, I still find myself eager to watch it every night at bedtime to end the stresses of the day on a happy note. I do not always agree with the opinions expressed by the characters or the outcome of a particular episode. However, I still come back for more each night because most episodes end on a happy note, and that allows me to drift into sleep with a little less stress on my mind. For seven seasons, . . . the series won several awards during its run, including 11 Emmys and four Golden Globes (MTSU). The creator of the show, Susan Harris, also created the 1970 s show called Soap. Both shows were produced by Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas (Golden Girls: Miami Spice). While I was very young during Soap s run on television, I have seen reruns of it a few times. It most definitely has liberal agenda themes that are presented with humor like The Golden Girls. However, it was presented in poor taste in its acting and storylines to present a message that could have been construed as offensive to much of the audience back in the 1970 s. It is very rare to talk to someone today that has even heard of Soap and it certainly has not reached cult like status ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Do You Want In Life Essay Life is full of many choices. Anyone can decide to choice whatever they want in life as my friends always tell me. I have enjoyed life to its fullest. I have made both bad and good choices. When I started school I wanted to be a Doctor but as times goes on, I decided that there is no way I can be a Doctor. I changed my mind from that vision when I saw what Doctors do. In my life, I have tried a lot of sports, and I can say that soccer is the best and my favorite among the rest. Soccer as sports is the best among all because a lot of people support it all over the world; it has fewer injuries and also international competition. Many people support soccer. Soccer has a lot of people support it. Every country that you will go, you will see soccer pitch like every area. The majority of world populations follow soccer because it has so many registered soccer players across the globe and it is not surprising it has support worldwide than any other sports. Even in U.S.A alone, sometimes U.S.A soccer teams sometimes go to different countries to play with them. In 2006, there was world cup played in Germany. A lot of people all over the world went there to watch their favorite players. Soccer brings unity among countries. I remember when U.S.A national team played with Ghana soccer team, a lot of spectators enjoyed it to the fullest. So be frank, soccer provides more opportunities to compete internationally. Compare to other sports, no all the countries even participate it and even if they do, they don t compete for anything. This is why soccer is my favorite because it gives a lot of opportunities to the youth to represent their country and both youth and amateur level. It was my dream to play for my country soccer ... Theme Analysis for Red Road and Rear Window Essay Essay Analysing the themes, which wore used in the film Red Road (2006), and also the surveillance, Misery and love and also explaining the directors (Andrea Arnold) decisions techniques. In this essay I am going to be analysing the themes, which have been used in the film Red road (2006) and compare it to rear window (1954). I will also be looking at the CCTV surveillance. I will also be looking at misery and love and how does this change the characters objective along the film. I will also be looking and explain the directors decision and techniques which she has used in this film. Andrea Arnold decision techniques with close ups and choice of vision in story telling via Jackie and the CCTV surveillance works well as it does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This however turns out they just wanted to have sex with each other which Jackie soon finds out while she watches. Red road does engage the audience into watching what the actual character is watching with CCTV, which makes us, feel apart of the story and makes us want to keep on watching. CCTV surveillance does create tension as the audience do not know what will be happening as the CCTV footage is basically showing live events. In the opening of the film we as an audience are introduced to a female CCTV operator who happens to be Jackie. With this opening it kind of lets us know that this film is related to CCTV and that this female CCTV operator Jackie has a key part in the film. On the other hand although red road and CCTV surveillance is structured through the story I don t think it is necessarily about CCTV, It s more about Clyde and Jackie and unravelling past into her finding out what really happened and why he did what he did when he accidently killed her husband and daughter. Voyeurism Voyeurism is also used in this film. By voyeurism I mean the spying between Jackie and Clyde where she is pursing his every step and wanting to find out more information about him and the need to want to get very close to him. Voyeurism is a key element in how the story is told in red road. The reason for this being is due to the fact that we as an audience are introduced to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was always quick to help others, and put their lives before her own. She wasn t very talkative, but she was very generous. Barton was named The Angel of The Battlefield she got this name while she was considering having an escort and months after he has been her escort that s what she got named. Clara did not attend school for two years, that way she could constantly be there for her brother. She learned to dispense all of his medicine, even the Great, loathsome crawling leeches. Finally Barton s parents hired a steam doctor She would always put his and anyone else s health before her own. • 7. Impact Of Environmental Communication On Public Sphere On... Title: Impact of Environmental Communication in Public Sphere on Urban Youth in Gujarat 1 Introduction Environment has attained centrality in the national and international arena in the past few decades. The primary reason for this has been environmental degradation as a consequence of varied socio economic, institutional and technological factors. The need for sensitisation is imperative and which can be substantially achieved through legislation and communication. Communication designs of environmental issues influence public awareness, opinion, and action. Environmental awareness or the subsequent lack thereof, have been on a rise for a while now with rise in population, changing political ideologies, increased private investments and overall privatisation and a dominant enshrining of the pro development philosophy of the West. With such tendencies, as humans grow in number, so does the dependency on nature and the lookout for space, an insatiable cycle of production and consumption commences and with this, the Earth our primary producer is reduced to commodity status. In a world dominated by human beings, where often the rights of the natural world and of animals dependent on it, are trampled upon, communication can play an important role in providing a channel for expression, discussion and action. Industrialisation continues to displace indigenous people on a large scale level resulting in various grassroots movements, all in the name of development. People ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the ad, Pamela Andersonis looking very sexy and she is in a very provocative sitting position and is tagged as if she were an animalin various areas of her body like her breast, legs, shoulders, ribs, among other parts. The message PETA was trying to get across was that people and animals have the same parts and they were trying to persuade the public to go vegetarian. The PETA ad was banned in several countries like Canada for being too provocative and over sexualized. This isn t the first time the association is caught in this type of situation, many of its ads like the Last Longer ( Last Longer ), Veggie Love ( Veggie Love ) , and Sex and the Kitty ( Sex and ) were banned for being too sexual and overly explicit. Although PETA is trying to shine the light on the problems that animals suffer because of humans, the type of attention that they get tends to be negative. Wyatt had been in town only short term when he found himself at odds with the Thompson brothers. Lingering in the shade of a balcony outside Brennan s Saloon one afternoon, he became aware of loud name calling bouncing back and forth between two men inside the gin mill. From what he deduced, it sounded like a simple case of card game larceny. He didn t pay much attention to the disturbance until Sheriff Whitney and two deputies appeared on the boardwalk and turned into the saloon. A cowboy was telling the sheriff that he had been swindled out of money by the fast hands of gambler Bill Thompson. Both the Thompsons denied it. But, when the lawman threatened to break up the game once and for all, Bill produced a double barreled shotgun from below his chair and, at point blank range, fired a volley into the sheriff s chest. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section; meanwhile, the soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the choir, men were castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate. The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The famous reformer Martin Luther praised Josquin Desprez saying, He is a master of notes; they do as he wills, as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery there is very little information on his early life. Josquin Desprez started out as a singer for the choir in 1489 to 1495. • 15. Theme Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci In the beginning of La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats presents love in a negative light through the knight s loneliness. The knight is shown to be, Alone and palely loitering? The verb phrase, palely loitering is used to present the miserable and lamentable emotions flowing through the knight s mind as he solely waits for his loved one. The premodifier palely is explicitly used as a colour imagery to illustrate his dim mood due to his feelings of isolation. Keats also describes the deterioration of the surroundings in the poem through the personification of the sedge which has withered from the lake . In this personification, the concrete noun sedge represents the state of their relationship, the fact that it has withered signifies that their relationship has ended. Despite how faithfully the knight waits, his loved one will not return. The personification of the sedge can be seen as a pathetic fallacy which suggests the tragic consequences that the knight will have to face. As a result of Keats description of the knight s lamentable feelings and loneliness in waiting for his love, the theme of unrequited love is portrayed in the poem La Belle Dame sans Merci in a negative ... The sudden change of meter from iambic tetrameter to iambic dimeter in the line And made sweet moan causes a sense of foreboding; hinting that the love between the woman and the knight will not last long. Time is precious, and people are trying to cut corners in order to get things done faster. Most families have both parents working. After a long working day there is no desire to spend another couple of hours by the stove preparing dinner. The convenience of fast foodhas replaced most family s homemade meals. Because of this, many Americans, especially children, eat processed food every day. The usual menu consist of a sugary cereal for breakfast, a hot dog and chips for lunch, and chicken nuggets and fries for dinner. Such processed food has a little or no nutritional value, which is why it is often called junk food. But why would any parent feed junk to their children? Is the body a garbage disposal? Why do people choose unhealthy foods? The problem is that it is very cheap, tasty, and in most cases it does not require cooking, which saves people a lot of time and money. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support. 1.1 Define Person centred values. Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved in all aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their families in the planning and maintaining of this. 1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates. Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could perfectly well manage without support. Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support. 3.1 Define the word consent Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. 3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support. When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care, support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. • 40. A Report On The Car Travel Introduction Private vehicles are at the forefront of the growing epidemic regarding carbon pollution and climate change. (Click) In Australia, cars accounted for 48% of transport emissions in 2013 (Trends in transport greenhouse gas emissions, 2013). However to combat this issue, many cities around the world have actively discouraged the use of private motor vehicles when travelling in and around the city. They aim to reduce the prevalence of cars through the promotion of bicycles, walking and public transport. In Europe, two cities have successfully implemented strategies and campaigns to increase the amount of bicycle travel in and around the cities centre, these are Copenhagen and Houten. The aim of this presentation is to investigate cities where car travel has been discouraged and hence decreased and if and how these strategies can be adopted in Brisbane. Brisbane Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia and capital of Queensland accommodating over 2.3 million people, thus it serves as an excellent basis to introduce a regime targeting at reduced carbon emissions through a decrease in car use. One idea discussed by the article is the monitoring of cod numbers, as well as monitoring the seal population. The article states to limit seal population to keep the fish alive; the textbook states They contend that the greater number of seals ate larger quantities of caplin, a small fish that is a major food source of groundfish, (pg 285). • 42. Importance Of 21st Century Teaching And Learning 21st Century teaching and learning is about transforming educational practices to equip students with the skills and know how they will need to navigate life in the 21st century. Bolstad, Gilbert, McDowell, Bull, Boyd and Hopkins argue that 21st century learning and teaching can be considered as an emerging cluster of new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices (Bolstad et. al., 2012, p. 1). In the Industrial age of thinking the educationsystem was modelled on a factory assembly line and the role of the educator was to prepare students for the industrial workforce. However, we are now living in the age coined the Knowledge era, where new information is rapidly being created every day and job markets are shifting and expanding; the top jobs in 2012, didn t exist in 2002 (EF Explore America, 2012). Because society is undergoing change at an alarming rate creating new ideas, beliefs, knowledge, theories and practices, the role of education is becoming unclear. Leaders across the globe are calling for students to have more sophisticated skills such as evaluating and analysing information and thinking critically and creatively to solve real world problems (Silva, 2008). • 43. Comparing Nicolo Machiavelli s The Prince While the human race is incredibly diverse and expansive, many writers and philosophers work to find common characteristics that they can attribute to what is typically referred to as human nature. Nicolo Machiavelli provides his beliefs on human nature in his text, The Prince. While this work mostly surrounds the proper way to lead a princedom, there are many parts of the text that show how humannature affects the way a prince should rule his people. The examples of princes having to work around humanity provided over the course of Machiavelli s work ultimately reflect what he considers to be flaws within human beings everywhere. An extensive examination of the devices and techniques used within Nicolo Machiavelli s The Princeshows how he believes human beings are self interested beings that can only be ruled through deception and force. The continuation of life and avoidance of death are two of the most essential goals for any and all living species. Machiavelli is correct in pointing out that, despite their complexity, human beings are still subject to these laws. Even a figure as authoritative as the prince still has to consider his mortality and find ways to preserve his life. Machiavelli examines the ways a prince can defend himself when he says, men are either to be treated kindly, or utterly crushed, since they can revenge lighter injuries, but not graver, (Machiavelli 4). The diction used in this passage illustrates a sharp contrast in the ways a prince can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patrice Tseh E1o1 Professor Jones 10/11/2017 Journal Entry #2 David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of his own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions, personal experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes satisfaction in passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more interesting. The field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the difference in lifestyle between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay is to show the aspects of both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel proud using his friend s stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I went to the theater at the nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he left the theater two hours later, to find a dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The quote above indicates that the author is being naГЇve and childish. No boy or child who is as young as he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain events are parallel, but compared with Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven years old, my family moved to North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven years old, Hugh s family moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and Satan. I threw stones at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs the reader that the author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Marie is unhappily married and it becomes very evident that her and Emil are falling in love. This novel measures the influence of an individual against human desires and the forces of nature. For example, Alexandra s relationship with the land summarizes the struggle between human desires and the larger forces than manipulate individuals. This difficult relationship between individuals and society is one of the most dominant themes and is depicted throughout the novel by using setting to reflect the characters.
