Star Spangled Banner Meaning
The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was
inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner
has become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public
event. Kneeling and locking arms during the national anthem is disrespectful because it shows a
lack of respect and gratefulness towards the United Statesflag, solders, and younger generations as
a whole. The American flag, red, white, and blue, is the basis of our country and represents all we
stand for. The red represents the blood shed in order to make our country the great free nation it is
today. The white signifies the purity and innocence that our nation

Father Paneloux and The Plague
As a Christian speaking to the people of Oran, it would be very difficult to say anything to a
people facing such terrible affliction. Even though Father Paneloux believed what he was
preaching, I believe he was completely wrong. This would make what I would say much different
from what Father Paneloux said. However, some strong points did emerge from his sermons.
Overall, the two sermons in Albert CamusThe Plaguefail to help people become more faithful and
fail to even preach to the people of Oran the truth.
Father Paneloux makes statements in his first sermon that condemn the people of Oran for their
wicked behavior. Camus description of the sermon makes clear that Father Paneloux is a strong
speaker. He describes him as using a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though God may be allowing it to happen, He is not the one causing the affliction. Once
again, God will not cause suffering until the time of tribulation. Proof of this can be found in the
book of Job where God calls Satan and has him afflict Job with nearly every affliction possible.
Clearly, just like his first sermon, Father Paneloux s second sermon displays his terrible
understanding of the nature and actions of God and causes even more people to turn away from
God.
If I were to talk to the people of Oran, I would first try to make clear why many of Father
Paneloux s ideas are incorrect without being mean to him. I would definitely detail how this
affliction is not a result of God s wrath and tell the people why this kind of thinking is completely
wrong. I would do this by ensuring the people that God does not cause suffering in this current
age and that he even wants to help everyone through the affliction they are currently experiencing.
It would be very difficult to drive out the false doctrine that Father Paneloux has taught to the
people of Oran, but that would have to be my first priority. Otherwise, the rest of my sermon
about God s love would not make any sense to a crowd that still believes God is responsible for the
suffering currently present in Oran.
My other priority if I were to give a sermon to the people of Oran would be to focus on God s love
in the midst of all

Regulation And Economic Growth Essay
THE IMPACT OF REGULATION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES:
A CROSS COUNTRY ANALYSIS
1
ABSTRACT
The role of an effective regulatory regime in promoting economic growth and development has
generated considerable interest among researchers and practitioners in recent years. In particular,
building effective regulatory structures in developing countries is not simply an issue of the
technical design of the most appropriate regulatory instruments, it is also concerned with the quality
of supporting regulatory institutions and capacity. This paper explores the role of state regulation
using an econometric model of the impact of regulation on growth. The results based on two
different techniques of estimation suggest a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rest of the paper is organised as follows. Section 2 reviews issues in the literature pertinent to
the debate on the role of regulation in economic growth, before turning to regulatory measures and
proxies for the quality of regulation. In section 3 the models used are presented. Section 4 deals
with a descriptive analysis of the data and reports the
regression results. The results confirm that the quality of state regulation impacts positively on
economic growth. development policy. Finally, section 5 provides conclusions and the implications

LITERATURE REVIEW (a) Regulation Theory
The theory of economic regulation developed from the nineteenth century and the literature is
now vast (for recent reviews, see Laffont and Tirole, 1993, 2000; Levy and Spiller, 1994; Newbery,
1999). The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of
significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from
information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and
externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that
market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in
developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). More recent theoretical contributions to the regulation
literature have provided a model of regulation for network industries that recognises the

West Virginia and Washington State
The Pacific Northwest combines the best of abundant natural beauty with cosmopolitan flair. From
the peaks of the Cascade Mountains to the emerald lowlands of Puget Sound to Seattle s eclectic

The easternmost portion of Washingtonhouses Spokane, a city of a quarter of a million residents
that s only a few minutes from the Idaho border. Spokane is close enough to the Cascades to

The city of Seattle got its start as a rough logging town, and although it s grown far beyond its
humble origins, it retains some of the independent frontier spirit of its founders. Its location on
Puget Sound made it a perfect site for shipping. When it also became the terminus for the Great
Northern Railway during the 1890s, Seattle s population exploded. Its selection for the 1962
World s Fair was such a cause for celebration that one of the fair s most prominent landmarks
remains nearly fifty years later: the Space Needle.
The logging, shipping and railroad industries may have built Seattle, but the city took its name from
a chieftain of two regional Native American cultures, the Suquamish and Duwamish people. In one
of the earliest examples of paid naming rights, the town s founders paid Chief Seattle a tidy sum to
give his name to their burgeoning logging town. Chief Seattle would probably take pride in the
multicultural port city that bears his name. Its forward thinking views on conservation has given
the modern city a reputation for being one of the greenest in the nation. Seattle also boasts one of
the country s most educated populations, making it an excellent site for development in science and
technology sectors.
Seattle s residents take pride in the city s iconoclastic personality and independent spirit. That s one
reason Seattle s greater metropolitan area now spreads throughout much of King County; residents

On the other hand, a business strategy is about building. Actually, the main goal is not to destruct
but at the opposite to build something in order to get earnings. In the same time, the way to get
through this objective implies to fight against different kind of enemies. As soon as we speak of
fight, we have to deal with plan and strategy. This mutual way of intellectualizing and rationalizing
a fight, which used to be instinctive for animals, is a very important concept.

Does an economic project can be managed as a war?

Introduction and Goals
The goals of this lab were to install DNS, DHCP, NTP and OpenLDAP on a new RLES Red Had
Enterprise Linux server within the jps5374.corp domain. Both DHCP and DNS were services
that I have implemented before in System Administration I, so this section was mostly review.
However, NTP and OpenLDAP were services that I ve never worked with, so this lab was my first
implementation. The overall idea for this lab was to install services and configure them with an
enterprise network in mind.
Procedure
Domain Name System
The first thing I did when setting up DNS was to install everything. Once I got everything installed,
it went right to the configuration files.
The first configuration file I worried about was named.conf. This file lets the named daemon know
where to find information about both forward and lookup zones.
Here is a screenshot of the named.conf file: Here is a screenshot of the forward lookup zone file:
This file is found at /var/named/forward.jps5374.corp. Here I am setting the name server at

clients that are on the network.

The Auto Industry In The 1930 s
Automobiles developed greatly throughout the early 20th century, from being clunky awkward
things to drive to smooth easy to drive useful machines. The roaring 20 s became time of growth

A Turing test is the process of a human distinguishing the difference in answers when conversing
with both a Cleverbot and a human, however is unaware of the questions that have been answered
by the human and which have been answered by artificial intelligence. This test is also to find out
if Artificial intelligence responds similar enough that it is equivalent or indistinguishable. Example:
We carried out this investigation to see what would happen and to see if it is easy enough to
distinguish the difference between human and artificial intelligent conversations. A certain human
was picked to complete the Turing, as he was the one capable of asking the questions. The
importance of him asking the questions was because we needed a person to begin the conversation,
and also to make sure that the investigation was fair. Here are the results: Human conversing with

The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief
Case Study: The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief
Abstract
All people given a traffic citation are to appear in court on a specific date after their traffic
citations. Those people who plead not guilty are set for trial at a future date, and the prosecutor
and arresting officer are required to appear at trial. 75 percent of people who plead not guilty fail
to appear at trial, but the city is still responsible for paying overtime expenses to those officers
who are not on duty but must appear at trial. The court administrator is called upon to devise a
system to limit the city s overtime expenses. The court administrator devises a system where the
court has access to police officer schedules, and where all officers are normally scheduled at least
one day a month during court trial hours, and sets trials involving those officers during that time
period.
Question 1: What kind of a system would you propose to address the problem, and how would you
go about accomplishing this end? In creating a modified system, you are to work within the
existing law, with no changes in statutes or ordinances. The problem with the system, as it is
established, is not due to any underlying problems in ordinances and statutes, thus the solution
would not require changing either of those factors. The ordinances and statutes not only offer
required due process protections for those accused of traffic violations, but are also not inherently
unwieldy. The real problem with the

Defect Correction Is The Remediation Of A Software Condition
Defect Correction
Defect correction is the remediation of a software condition or result that contradicts or does not
meet the needs of the software requirements (Defect, 2010). The agile test model is an automated
and efficient process for detecting requirements and functionality variations (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014).
Also, unit testing activities are performed earlier within the life cycle and defects are identified
sooner (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The early identification of defects minimizes the costs for defect
correction or rework (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The accelerated timeframe allows teams to remediate
defects before functionalities are demonstrated or sent to the customer for user acceptance testing
(Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Without incremental methods, as evident in the waterfall model
, identified
defects are unknown until post customer delivery (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). As a result, the estimated
costs for software development are exceeded to remedy code defects or cover the expense of
rework for issues that customers identify post implementation (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Finally, post
development defects may result in the loss of customers given the impact and severity (Tarhan
Yilmaz, 2014). An empirical study of development models revealed that agile model performance
was superior to that of waterfall with respect to defect detection and cost control (Tarhan Yilmaz,
2014).

Estimation is the process by which teams provide an assessment of the level of

Ann Arbor Art Museum
I went to the Ann Arbor Art Museum to see the exhibit Moving Image: Landscape. For this
exhibit I looked at three different works of art by Jim Campbell, Rick Silva and Antti Laitinen.
The first piece I saw upon entering was by Jim Campbell called Seal Rock and it was displayed
on the wall. The work of art was of misty rocks with LEDs behind the image to create a sense of
movement. I enjoyed watching the movement of the mist and thought it was very calming.
While interesting, it seemed like this piece would be better suited in a restaurant or waiting
room of an office rather than a museum. Next, was the artwork called Render Garden by Rick
Silva. On a flat screen 42 inch TV displayed on the wall, there was a digital image of plants that
continually changed, creating new combinations. The art was very colorful and seamlessly
became a new image. I appreciated the time and effort put into creating the digital image and
enjoyed watching it change. The artwork reminded me of a computer screen saver and I wish it was.

Long-Term Consequences Of Spanish Colonization
An event that opens and gives way to the beginning of the history of our American continent is the
exploration and colonization of Spain centuries ago. There were many generals and idealistic
Spaniards who explored the American regions taking with themselves many of our wealthiest
resources. The Exploration and colonization of the Spaniards did not only open the door but also
and accounted for the early stages of the North American continent. The Spanish began getting
involved with the different cultures that had already been living there. This would result in the
suffering of the continent.
The Spanish began to enslave and colonize the Native Americans and controlled many of the
cultural development that populated the continent. As a result, ... Show more content on

An example of this is the diseases to which the Spaniards exposed Native Americans during the
period of exploration, we have typhus and tuberculosis, diseases for which at that time the Native
Americans had no antibody too, so Native Americans were susceptible to infection, and thus they
died in large numbers. These diseases still exist nowadays and are affecting a very small percent of
the American population. Another is the fact that, many of the tribes that existed back then do not
exist now because the Spaniards destroyed them. As I highlighted a few of the negative
consequences, I should also mention some of the positive ones as well. Before the arrival of the
Spanish, the Indians did not know the use of gold and how rare it really was. The Native American
natives did not have any better weapons than arrows, bows, and weapons developed rustically.
When the Spanish took over America, they brought their weapons with them. Although Spaniards
introduced diseases, some of the missionaries brought medicine with them as a more positive
influence. Also, the Spanish were among the first to distinctively map areas of North and South
America and founded communities that became cities, some of which have lasted into modern
times. Three of the four oldest cities in the United States were founded by the Spanish Florida, New
Mexico, Santa Fe, St. Augustine, and San Antonio,

The Significance of Pulpit in the Church Architectural Settings
Introduction
The term Church Architecture refers to the architectural buildings of the Christian churches and
cathedrals, which evolved over two thousand years. The churches have witnessed varied styles of
architectural buildings from the early period of the birth of Christianity till today. Some of the most
significant church architectural buildings are from the church architectural designs of Byzantium,
Romanesque Abbey churches, Gothic Cathedrals, and Renaissance Basilicas. Till today, the

The word Pulpit is derived from the Latin word pulpitum meaning platform or an elevated stand
of stone or wood for the preacher or reader to stand on. Pulpit is essentially a place where
something important happens in the church. Generally in almost all churches, pulpit is used for
preaching, whereas in some churches pulpit is used both for preaching and reading of scripture. In
early Christian times, ambo was used for preaching instead of pulpit, and lectern, a speaker s stand
in the church, which means to read was used for reading scriptures by laymen, and also used for
announcements, and to lead congregation prayers.
Every Christian believes that God speaks to us through the proclamation of his Word; hence, the
place where the Word is proclaimed should be one of the focal points in the church. Some argues
that it is not essential and necessary to have two places for proclaiming the Word (i.e. pulpit and
lectern). In fact, many people prefer to have only one place for proclaiming the Word since having
two platforms confuses the congregation and also having lectern and pulpit were often limited to
wealthy congregations since many cannot afford it. Robert S. Brightman writes on the pulpit and
lectern

Statement of Purpose for a Masters Degree in Biomedical...
Letter of Motivation
Dear Madam or Sir,
After spending half a decade on developing state of the art financial and medical software, I am
thrilled by the prospects of taking my career forward through a distinguished master s degree from
your university. My passion for programming has taken me from an eventful bachelor s degree in
computer science, to an innovative professional career with one of the biggest conglomerate of
the world. Now, my zeal for learning medicine and its association with computers brings me here
to you. With this letter I wish to apply and state my motivation for admission to Biomedical
Computing (BMC) program. My objective is to become an expert in the dynamic field of computer
aided medical procedures and medical imaging.
I was intrigued by how programming could help me automate manual work, create utilities for
everyday needs and still be so much fun. Hence, I pursued undergraduate studies in computer
science and engineering. In my second semester, I presented a technical paper on minimally
invasive surgery using robotics. I was excited by the prospects that the use of robotics can help
patients to recover quickly with lesser operative distress. Later, I, along with three of my friends,
conducted workshops on 3D animation using 3ds Max software. At that time, a typical computer
science graduate from my university would work in the Indian software service industry. However,

Polonius Father
Fathers in plays, books, movies, etc., are portrayed in many different ways. Authors never make it
obvious as to the motivation behind the actions of the dads. Do they do it to protect their children,
or do they do it to make themselves look better? Shakespeare s Hamlet exemplifies this confusion
through Polonius. Right hand man to the king, and father to Laertes and Ophelia, many of
Polonius actions raise this question, but only one side can be true. Throughout the play, Polonius
uses his charm and wit to control Laertes, Ophelia, and Claudius, in order to preserve his position
in court. To start, Laertes, Polonius son, does not have much control over his own life. However,
he gets a chance at freedom when he proposes to his father and the king that... Show more content

actions resemble the purest intentions of wooing her. Polonius advice says, Do not believe his

plain terms, from this time forth, / Have you so slander any moment leisure, / As to give words
or talk with Lord Hamlet (1.3.128 135). Polonius believes that Hamlet s only intentions of
getting Ophelia in bed will ruin her. In the 13th and 14th centuries, a women s chastity WAS a
women s all that gave women hope. Without her virginity, she could not be married to anyone
but he who took it. How would that look on Polonius? Having a daughter that lost her only virtue

Open Carry Pros And Cons
Carrying around a weapon for self defense does not mean anything until it is needed and not there.
Americans talk about open carry, but would people would feel comfortable know how many guns
in a room there are. In the United States only thirty one states allow open carry. Although allowing
open carry can be dangerous in some situations, open carry protects the right of gunowners freedom
to choose where they take their weapons. Currently in South Carolina open carry of hand guns is
not permitted. The NRA, national rifle association, currently has control over the gun laws. In the
United Statesthirty one states allow the open carrying of a handgun with a license or permit,
however in some situations the gun must be unloaded. The ability to carry openly protects our
freedom to choose how people carry their weapons. Also, there are many befits to open carry....

When criminals plan mass shootings they do not expect anyone in the public to be armed.
However, if open carry is permitted then it can prevent casualties because it allows the public to
fight back. In an article from Time, Sarah Begley states, We want criminals to fear the public being
armed. If the public is armed and can also carry openly it can be to the people s benefit because it
allows a quicker draw to cut down reaction time. Open carry offers a distinct advantage over
concealed (which is most likely why police officers open carry). It allows for a quick and smooth
draw (Pucillo). In addition to self defense, open carry also protects the second

Workplace Romance
SEXUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE Licresha Pierce Strayer University Professor Honore
Workplace romance exists when two members of the same organization develop a relationship with
mutual attraction. Individuals who develop workplace romances may cause damages to morale and
productivity. However companies are still confused whether or not they should interfere in the
romantic relationship. Many companies are trying to figure out what department should get
involved and what policies should be set and should there be set guidelines? There are pros and
cons to developing a relationship with a co worker. Some advantages would be to motivate

CRA is a vague area and it can be one person s word against the other when it goes sour. Ethical
principles are based on the individual or group and what they think is right or wrong. What may
seem right to some maybe wrong to others. So companies need to keep in mind the different
beliefs. There is also a right to privacy, so by implementing a CRA it should be clear.
Nonfraternization policies Having clear policies that govern behaviors and relationships
acceptable in the workplace is the first step employers should take to control dangerous
workplace romances (Lieber 2008). There are different types of nonfraternization policies. Some
employees ban on any dating in the workplace. They are not legally enforced because they are
considered overbroad. Another policy prohibits supervisors from dating and employee because of
the power between the two may cause the employee to feel pressured to start or stay in the
relationship and finally the most common and most recommended policy prohibits supervisors
from dating subordinates who are in the supervisor s direct chain of command. Ethical behavior
should be considered when allowing workplace romance. I think from an employer s perspective
they have to consider certain things such as respecting a person s moral principles such as honesty,
fairness, equality, respecting the dignity, diversity and the rights of other people. Being ethical
means doing the right thing in any situation.

Comparing Frankenstein And The Creature In Mary Shelley s...
Frankenstein and the Creature s relationship directly parallels their subconscious understanding of
God. Whereas the Creature sees each of them fulfill distinct roles of Creator and creation, Victor
feels the duality of being both created and Creator. Paradise Lost indoctrinated the Creature with its
own testimony of the creation story and filled his subconscious with ideas of conflict and betrayal.
Victor s exposure is consequence of the Christian dominant culture of Europe in his time. From a
psychoanalytical perspective, Victor struggles to identify himself as the god his id suggests or as
the man that his super ego insists he is. Even so, the war the Creature is waging dwarfs this identity
crisis. The Creature feels that he must physically fight the spiritual battle that exists between God
and his creations, whether that is mankind or Satan himself. In Mary Shelley s Frankensteinthe

Gustav Eiffel Research Paper
Gustave Eiffel was one of the most renowned architects and engineers of his time. He is mostly
known for his contribution to the French railway network and the famous Eiffel Tower. Eiffel
was born on December 15 in the year of 1832 in Dijon, France. Eiffel s career began to take off
when he graduated from the College of Arts and Manufacturing in Paris, Francein 1855. Upon
graduating at the top of his class, Eiffel began to show interest in metal construction. He ended up
becoming very skilled in this specialty that he was later given the nickname of Magician of Iron .
Eiffel s first paid job was as a private secretary for a railway engineer. After leaving his first job,
Eiffel went on to work for Ouest, a French railway company. It was at this job that Eiffel executed
his first bridge project. This 72 foot sheet iron bridge was built for the Saint Germaine Railway.
Shortly after, Eiffel was able to complete his first major work, which came to be known as the
Bordeaux Bridge once he began working for Compagnie Belge. Originally, this opportunity only
allowed Eiffel to be in charge of the metalwork that was needed for the execution of the project.
Luckily, he was eventually appointed to take over the project once the previous management
decided to resign. The successful completion of the Bordeaux Bridge resulted with many new
opportunities for Eiffel. His work quickly gained popularity and of these opportunities he was

Auschwitz Concentration Camp The Auschwitz Birkneau concentration camp was established I
1940 by the Germans. It s located just outside Oswiecim, Poland. The original reason of
establishment was that the mass arrests of Poles were too much for the capacity of local prisons.
Eventually, it became the largest death camp of the Holocaust. Auschwitz covered about 40 square
miles and had more than 40 sub camps within a several hundreds kilometer radius. The camp
consisted of 22 prewar brick barracks buildings. The first prisoners at the camp were mostly
Poles. In 1940, there were about 8,000 people registered. In 1942, Jews were being sent to
Auschwitz by the hundreds of thousands. About 197,000 Jews were deported there in 1942, in
the following year about 270,000, and in 1944 over 600,000. All together that s about 1.1 million.

The Cultural Body In The Cultural Body
How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through
this essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo.
In aid of my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her
training and two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of
Treasures, performed in 2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person
or country s culture through the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or
performance of an art form that means something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or
period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her pieces from her experiences in the world and
uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during
her training, the beginning of her career and her life following her move there with her husband.
She attempts to push through everyday experiences and present cultural and political encounters
that would stimulate the discovery of new identification . Melati produces a concentrated level of
nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any narrative , which leads to a factual
absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam
Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert Butoh dance professor, and
Marina Abramović to gain her experience in performance art while she lived in Germany during
the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at many international
festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual performance
art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati, despite not
originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised
communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to
interpret these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam
Galleries, undated). Melati, an Indonesian born artist based in Germany, creates performances that
have strong cultural, social and political aspects, with many

JD Salinger Criticism
JD Salinger s Criticism on American Society During the 1950 s, America was prospering after
the second World War. According to History.com, The United States was the world s strongest
military power. Its economy was booming, and the fruits of this prosperity new cars, suburban
houses and other consumer goods were available to more people than ever before (History.com
Staff). More jobs were becoming available, decreasing the unemployment rate. Despite having
all the success, America faced many problems as a country. One of the most popular novels of
the time, The Cather In The Rye written by JD Salinger, discussed the flaws in the society
Americans had failed to realize. The book is about a journey of a teen named Holden Caufield
who was expelled from his school for failing most of his courses. He leaves to New York early
but waits at a hotel until the winter break, hoping his parents will not get as angry as they would.
During his time in New York, he drinks alcohol heavily to soothe his depression. Later, he was sent
to a mental institution to treat his depression and as a therapy, Holden writes about his adventure in
New York. Throughout the novel, J.D. Salinger criticized many aspects of American Society
specifically conformity and the oppression of teenage freedom in the 1950 s. J.D. Salinger strongly
opposed conformity within the American society. During the 1950s, Americans were following
these norms of behaving in the same way as one another. For example, they

Partisan Stratification
Partisan identification refers to the political party with which an individual identifies and political
socialization can be defined as the process by which people form their ideas about politics (Hershey
2016, pg. 127). Both of these terms are important for understanding how individuals identify with
the parties they do and how in doing so can affect both the perception of the candidate and the level
of participation. Political socialization often times begins during childhood; most parents do not
consciously indoctrinate their children into partisanship, but they are nevertheless the main
teachers of political attitudes. This early identification, according to Hershey, takes hold before
children have much information as to what the parties

The Effect Of Temperature On The Enzyme Peroxidase
The Effect of Temperature on the Enzyme Peroxidase The objective of this experiment is to explore
the effect of temperature on the enzyme peroxidase. To comprehend the effect that temperature can
have on enzymes, specifically peroxidase, one must understand what enzymes are and what their
function is. Enzymes are proteins that are found in cells that function as catalyst (Ms. Chang s
EnzymeNotes). What is meant by this is that enzymes increase the speed of chemical reactions
without changing the chemical equilibrium between reactants and products or becoming
consumed or permanently modified by the reaction through lowering the activation energy barrier
(Enzymes). Enzymes are necessary in order to sustain life because without them, the chemical
reactions that take place in our cells would occur far too slowly (Ms. Chang s Enzyme Notes). In
order to generate chemical reactions, enzymes must bind to a substrate. A substrate is a specific
reactant that an enzyme acts upon in order to generate product. A substrate binds to the active site
on the enzyme, which is a groove or cavity on the surface of the enzyme in which the substrate
flawlessly fits. Active sites are typically composed of amino acids from various portions of the
polypeptide chains that are drawn together in the tertiary structure of the folded protein (Enzymes).
Each type of enzyme can only bind with specific substrates, because it is critical that the substrate
and the active site of the enzyme align

easily persuaded to change her mind. When the experimenter performed task two and three, he
asked her why she thought the amounts were the same and she simply explained what she saw
visually, but she always looked for confirmation in her answer from the experimenter. Adriana was
then asked about where she thinks dreams come from and she said they were scary . She couldn t

demonstrated her inability to think abstractly or logically.
Isaac was able to agree on each task that initially all the quantities were the same, but was easily

How I Invented Writing Essay
Writing is, at its core, a technology. It allows us to take our thoughts and arrange them spatially in
the physical world. Living in a culture where this practice is an every day occurrence, the physical
nature of writing fluidly becomes part of our consciousness. This is what the class project exposed
for me. Having to invent a writing technologyforced me to see the importance of being able to
easily put down my thoughts and work with them visually.
At this very moment I am transferring thoughts into lines, shaping, moving, juggling them around
on the familiar square format of the page. This is a process I wanted to allow for with my own
invented technology. The ability to work with your thoughts and shape ... Show more content on

With this in mind I pruned a few straight branches off a wild grape vine near my apartment. As
mainly a computer based writer, I was thinking in terms of font all the letters of the alphabet
could be crudely formed with straight lines. I pictured the blocky green on black letters of the first
computers I had learned to type on. To this end I broke the grape branches into relatively even
sections and arranged them on the kitchen table. A flat surface and these broken twigs were my
basic writing technology. Obviously I would be limited by the amount of sticks I carried with me,
and there would be little value in terms of permanence, but I could shape my thoughts!
The act of actually writing something with my technology was extremely slow, and I came to
the conclusion that a strong gust if wind would probably blow all my work away. There was a
definite sense of physical work involved with this method of writing. Unlike using a computer or
pen and paper, I was constantly aware of the act of writing with my sticks. More modern forms of
writing were so easy and fluid that once you began you could focus completely on your thoughts.
Working with the twigs, I had to pay constant attention to craft legible letters and keep words
somewhat straight. There was no easy melding of the mental and physical worlds here.
The physical labor of my stick script was perhaps closest to the act of typing. My first days on a
computer were

As you already know, the liability of a cumulative trauma claim runs one year before the end date
of a cumulative trauma claim. Here, the liability is from June 1, 2014 through June 1, 2015. Based
on my review of the file, it appears that Star Insurance Company also share the coverage for the
liability period. Based on your claimed status report, it appears that Star Insurance Company has
74% of the liability and Williamsburg National Insurance Company has 26% of the liability. Based
on my knowledge, I believe Star Insurance Company is also is administered through Illinois

Insurance Company. At the resolution of this claim, I believe you will resolve the issue with
contribution internally.
If this is not the case and you would like us to formally join Star Insurance Company for some
reason, please let me know.

  • 2. Star Spangled Banner Meaning The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner has become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public event. Kneeling and locking arms during the national anthem is disrespectful because it shows a lack of respect and gratefulness towards the United Statesflag, solders, and younger generations as a whole. The American flag, red, white, and blue, is the basis of our country and represents all we stand for. The red represents the blood shed in order to make our country the great free nation it is today. Even though Father Paneloux believed what he was preaching, I believe he was completely wrong. This would make what I would say much different from what Father Paneloux said. However, some strong points did emerge from his sermons. Overall, the two sermons in Albert CamusThe Plaguefail to help people become more faithful and fail to even preach to the people of Oran the truth. Father Paneloux makes statements in his first sermon that condemn the people of Oran for their wicked behavior. Camus description of the sermon makes clear that Father Paneloux is a strong speaker. Once again, God will not cause suffering until the time of tribulation. Proof of this can be found in the book of Job where God calls Satan and has him afflict Job with nearly every affliction possible. Clearly, just like his first sermon, Father Paneloux s second sermon displays his terrible understanding of the nature and actions of God and causes even more people to turn away from God. If I were to talk to the people of Oran, I would first try to make clear why many of Father Paneloux s ideas are incorrect without being mean to him. I would definitely detail how this affliction is not a result of God s wrath and tell the people why this kind of thinking is completely wrong. I would do this by ensuring the people that God does not cause suffering in this current age and that he even wants to help everyone through the affliction they are currently experiencing. It would be very difficult to drive out the false doctrine that Father Paneloux has taught to the people of Oran, but that would have to be my first priority. Otherwise, the rest of my sermon about God s love would not make any sense to a crowd that still believes God is responsible for the suffering currently present in Oran. My other priority if I were to give a sermon to the people of Oran would be to focus on God s love in the midst of all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regulation And Economic Growth Essay THE IMPACT OF REGULATION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: A CROSS COUNTRY ANALYSIS 1 ABSTRACT The role of an effective regulatory regime in promoting economic growth and development has generated considerable interest among researchers and practitioners in recent years. In particular, building effective regulatory structures in developing countries is not simply an issue of the technical design of the most appropriate regulatory instruments, it is also concerned with the quality of supporting regulatory institutions and capacity. LITERATURE REVIEW (a) Regulation Theory The theory of economic regulation developed from the nineteenth century and the literature is now vast (for recent reviews, see Laffont and Tirole, 1993, 2000; Levy and Spiller, 1994; Newbery, 1999). The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). More recent theoretical contributions to the regulation literature have provided a model of regulation for network industries that recognises the

The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief Case Study: The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief Abstract All people given a traffic citation are to appear in court on a specific date after their traffic citations. Those people who plead not guilty are set for trial at a future date, and the prosecutor and arresting officer are required to appear at trial. 75 percent of people who plead not guilty fail to appear at trial, but the city is still responsible for paying overtime expenses to those officers who are not on duty but must appear at trial. The court administrator is called upon to devise a system to limit the city s overtime expenses. The court administrator devises a system where the court has access to police officer schedules, and where all officers are normally scheduled at least one day a month during court trial hours, and sets trials involving those officers during that time period. Question 1: What kind of a system would you propose to address the problem, and how would you go about accomplishing this end? In creating a modified system, you are to work within the existing law, with no changes in statutes or ordinances. The problem with the system, as it is established, is not due to any underlying problems in ordinances and statutes, thus the solution would not require changing either of those factors. The ordinances and statutes not only offer required due process protections for those accused of traffic violations, but are also not inherently unwieldy. The real problem with the ... • 14. Defect Correction Is The Remediation Of A Software Condition Defect Correction Defect correction is the remediation of a software condition or result that contradicts or does not meet the needs of the software requirements (Defect, 2010). The agile test model is an automated and efficient process for detecting requirements and functionality variations (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Also, unit testing activities are performed earlier within the life cycle and defects are identified sooner (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The early identification of defects minimizes the costs for defect correction or rework (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The accelerated timeframe allows teams to remediate defects before functionalities are demonstrated or sent to the customer for user acceptance testing (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Without incremental methods, as evident in the waterfall model , identified defects are unknown until post customer delivery (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). As a result, the estimated costs for software development are exceeded to remedy code defects or cover the expense of rework for issues that customers identify post implementation (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Finally, post development defects may result in the loss of customers given the impact and severity (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). An empirical study of development models revealed that agile model performance was superior to that of waterfall with respect to defect detection and cost control (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). For this exhibit I looked at three different works of art by Jim Campbell, Rick Silva and Antti Laitinen. Ethical principles are based on the individual or group and what they think is right or wrong. What may seem right to some maybe wrong to others. Nonfraternization policies Having clear policies that govern behaviors and relationships acceptable in the workplace is the first step employers should take to control dangerous workplace romances (Lieber 2008). There are different types of nonfraternization policies. Some employees ban on any dating in the workplace. They are not legally enforced because they are considered overbroad. Another policy prohibits supervisors from dating and employee because of the power between the two may cause the employee to feel pressured to start or stay in the relationship and finally the most common and most recommended policy prohibits supervisors from dating subordinates who are in the supervisor s direct chain of command. Ethical behavior should be considered when allowing workplace romance. • 34. The Cultural Body In The Cultural Body How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through this essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo. In aid of my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her training and two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of Treasures, performed in 2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person or country s culture through the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or performance of an art form that means something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her pieces from her experiences in the world and uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during her training, the beginning of her career and her life following her move there with her husband. She attempts to push through everyday experiences and present cultural and political encounters that would stimulate the discovery of new identification . Melati produces a concentrated level of nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any narrative , which leads to a factual absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert Butoh dance professor, and Marina AbramoviД‡ to gain her experience in performance art while she lived in Germany during the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at many international festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual performance art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati, despite not originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to interpret these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). The Effect Of Temperature On The Enzyme Peroxidase The Effect of Temperature on the Enzyme Peroxidase The objective of this experiment is to explore the effect of temperature on the enzyme peroxidase. To comprehend the effect that temperature can have on enzymes, specifically peroxidase, one must understand what enzymes are and what their function is. Enzymes are proteins that are found in cells that function as catalyst (Ms. Chang s EnzymeNotes). What is meant by this is that enzymes increase the speed of chemical reactions without changing the chemical equilibrium between reactants and products or becoming consumed or permanently modified by the reaction through lowering the activation energy barrier (Enzymes). Enzymes are necessary in order to sustain life because without them, the chemical reactions that take place in our cells would occur far too slowly (Ms. Chang s Enzyme Notes). In order to generate chemical reactions, enzymes must bind to a substrate. A substrate is a specific reactant that an enzyme acts upon in order to generate product. A substrate binds to the active site on the enzyme, which is a groove or cavity on the surface of the enzyme in which the substrate flawlessly fits. Active sites are typically composed of amino acids from various portions of the polypeptide chains that are drawn together in the tertiary structure of the folded protein (Enzymes). There was a definite sense of physical work involved with this method of writing. Unlike using a computer or pen and paper, I was constantly aware of the act of writing with my sticks. More modern forms of writing were so easy and fluid that once you began you could focus completely on your thoughts.
