Ethics, The Solicitors Regulation Authority
Throughout the world ethical belief systems have been created amongst societies, organisations and
various professions. The largest built ethical systems exist amongst societies. To create and be a part
of civilised society individuals must choose to act in ways that further the common good of one
another. Aristotelian ethical philosophies state law is crucial in making citizens virtuous . Laws of
conduct used to govern society are formed by what is perceived as virtuous and just. Legal
professionals are not only governed by laws of the land but are morally and legally constrained by a
stringent code of ethics, known as the Solicitors Regulation Authority. There are ten principles that
focus on 5 main core responsibilities a solicitor has with their client, business, regulator, others,
application, waivers and interpretations. A legal professional must have self regulation and high
ethical standards amongst its defining characterises. A breach of ethical conduct is when an act of
professional misconduct is committed by a lawyer who does something dishonourable to him as a man
and dishonourable in his professional RE G MAYOR COOKE (1889). To behave with Integrity is the
most sacred principle to emerge from the legal profession. Aristotle s book of Nonomanchien Ethics
suggests ethical virtue is concerned with feelings and actions it is necessary to have the right feelings
at the right time and for the right purpose . The simplicity of this philosophy cannot be

Censorship of Howard Hawks’ Film, Scarface Essay
An Examination into Howard Hawks Film Scarface (1932), and Whether This Film Was Truly
Dangerous, Deeming the Necessity for Censorship This paper discusses the controversial issue of
censorship of Howard Hughes film Scarface (1932) while presenting the opinions of the proponents
and opponents of the practice of censorship in Scarface. Although Scarface (1932), was thought to be
a dangerous film during the 1930s, the film, in general, only portrayed the violence that already
existed in the society at that time. The film wasn t a clear and present danger to the public; therefore,
the film shouldn t have been censored. Changes that were made to the film at the behest of the Hays
Office , may have been out of good intentions but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hollywood had every right to make films on controversial topics, but various censorship boards
thought otherwise, and these censorship boards felt that it was necessary to have community
restrictions on immoral topics of controversy such as adultery, prostitution and divorce. The question
was how censorship should be placed on films as well as to what extent in the way these controversial
topics were presented (Black 53).
Continuing the battle over screen content was not an easy task issues were intensified as United States
was facing the greatest economic decline in U.S. history caused by the Depression. As economic
conditions were declining, the film making technology was improving greatly, making more exciting
movies by turning silent cinema into sound movies (Black 53). Having this new technology allowed a
more realistic form of entertainment that was different to other forms of entertainment such as novels.
Consequently, these pictures became a great fascination to the public, offering a kind of cultural
escape valve to which audiences could explore serious controversial issues that were comparative to
the era that they were living in. Given that film producers were including contemporary controversial
issues in their film along with the new technology of sound movies became a great controversial
problem considering the morality of all audiences (women, men and children of all ages).

The Suppression Of Pain And Inflammation
Introduction
1.1. Inflammation
The suppression of pain and inflammation has been a major goal of medical treatment throughout the
ages. Inflammation is an essential response to any noxious stimulus which threatens the host and may
vary from a localized response to a more generalized one. [1, 2, 3]
The inflammation sequence can be summarized as follows:
Initial injury causing release of inflammatory mediators (e.g. histamine, serotonin, leukotriene, SAS
A, lysosomes enzymes and prostaglandins).
Vasodilation.
Increased vascular permeability.
Leukocyte migration, chemo taxis and phagocytosis.
Proliferation of connective tissue cells.
1.1.1. Cause of Inflammation
The agents causing inflammation may be as under:
Physical agents like heat, cold, radiation, mechanical trauma.
Chemical agents like organic and inorganic poisons.
Infective agents like bacteria, viruses and their toxins.
Immunological agents like cell mediated and antigen antibody reactions.
1.1.2. Signs of Inflammation Following are the cardinal signs of inflammation:
Redness
Swelling
Heat
Pain
Loss of function
1.1.3. Sources of Chemical Mediators
The most common sources of chemical mediators are as follows [4]:
Cell/Tissue Mediators
Basophils  Histamine, Serotonin, SRS A
Mast cell  Histamine, Serotonin, SRS A, Lysosomes enzyme
Platelets  Histamine, Serotonin, lysosomes enzyme
Polymorph nuclear leukocytes (PMNs)  lysosome enzyme, leukotriene

Understanding And Importance Of Following Orders
The purpose of this counselled essay is to explain my understanding and importance of following
orders. This essay will have several sections to explain different areas where following orders effects. .
I will cover the significance of following orders within the unit, prominence of following order within
the artillery world, results of failure to follow orders, and how following orders will help me in the
future. The importance of these procedures created by my superiors are apparent in a soldier s daily
life. Following Orders within the Unit To start this essay off I want to begin with the oath I took at the
beginning of my career. Considering this oath would be a revolving point in my paper I need to have it
as a basis. I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers
appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. To follow
orders within the unit promotes morale, Esprit de corps, the completion of tasks and details that
promote the benefit of the unit as a whole, and transition of communication in the unit. When orders
are not being followed, it creates a doubt within the mind of not only the Noncommissioned Officer,
but the other core leaders of the soldier. The soldier himself or

The Battle of Antietam Creek
The Battle of Antietam Creek
The Battle of Antietam Creek was a very bloody and important battle in the Civil war. The battle was
fought by two different armies within the Union and the Confederacy, The Army of the Potomac
(Union) and The Army of Northern Virginia (Confederate). Antietam Creek is located just to the east
of the Potomac River in Maryland. The battle was fought on a hill just above the west bank of
Antietam Creek. The Army of the Potomac, who was on the offensive, was pushing towards the river.
The Army of Northern Virginia, who was on the defensive, was on the bank defending themselves
from what is often referred to as a sea of blue. The men who fought in the battle of Antietam Creek
and the rest of the Civil War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Army of the Potomac was led by Major General George B. McClellan. The army was made up of
six corps.
The six corps included the first, the second, the fifth, the sixth, and the ninth corps, and one cavalry

Corps was under the command of Major General Edwin V. Sumner. The Fifth Corps was under the
command of Major General Fite John Porter. The Sixth Corps was under the command of Major
General William B. Franklin. The Ninth Corps was under the command of Major General Ambrose

The Army of Northern Virginia was under the supreme command of General Robert E. Lee. This army
was made up of a left wing, a right wing, a cavalry division, and an artillery division. The left wing
was led by Major Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson, who famously died of being shot by one of his own

The Decline Of Human Cultural Diversity
Languages are being rapidly lost, at a rate of extinction. Serious concerns over the impending loss of
human cultural diversity have caused many organizations to actively start engaging in the upkeep of
languages. Early studies have identified areas with a high number of endangered languages, and
preformed investigations. What they came across was the population size of the culture, and how vast
of an area the language is spoken in, are key factors to the decline of languages. Other factors include;
mass genocide, evolution, economics growth or decline, religion, a change in culture can be a partial
cause for the endangerment or extinction of a language. The main factor is usually when a more
powerful and pronounced language over takes the smaller subdivision languages, somewhat related to
what the Lingua franca. An example of this would be in Canada. In parts of Canada such as Quebec
the primary language is French, but in other many places in Canada, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Montreal,
the primary language is English, so French is become less common throughout the country. The more
powerful and know language allows for less language barriers, and allows easier communication. So
what does it mean for a language to become endangered? It means extinction may be in the near
future. Only a few people still speak the language and when they become deceased the language will
soon cease to exist, unless they preserve documents or it continues to get passed on. How many

The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay
In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800
women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health
Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries
than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during
pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy,
from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal
mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications
of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the
worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to
examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end
with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights.
Developed countries
In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that
U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts
are uncertain about the increase. Experts are not entirely clear for the rise in the maternal deaths in the
U.S., but there are some aspects that may be link to this.

Earthquakes In North America
The southeastern United States should, by all means, be relatively quiet in terms of seismic activity. It
s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where
earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011
magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital.
Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle
under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and
weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study
authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future.
Our idea supports the view that this seismicity will continue due to unbalanced stresses in the plate, ...

At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes
and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and
accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into
the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into
the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill
the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in
the images.
The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable
region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone
to slip along ancient fault lines. Typically, the thicker the plate, the stronger it is, and the less likely to
produce

Association Code of Ethics (ACA Code of Ethics) and state board counseling laws to common ethical
scenarios. The content explores aspects designed to call attention to favorable and unfavorable skills

Epilepsy is a chronic neurologic disorder characterized by recurrent seizures, brought on by excessive
excitability of neurons in the brain. A seizure is divided into two broad categories: partial and
generalized. Symptoms can range from brief periods of unconsciousness to violent convulsions.
Epilepsy is initiated by synchronous, high frequency discharge from a group of hyperexcitable
neurons called a focus. A focus may result from several causes, including congenital defects, hypoxia
at birth, head trauma, brain infection, stroke, cancer, and genetic disorders. The Anti epileptic drugs

Suppression of Calcium influx: In the axon terminal influx of calcium through voltage gated calcium
channels promotes transmitter release; hence, drugs that block these calcium channels can suppress
transmission. Several AEDs calcium channels can suppress transmission. Several AEDs including

(ezogabine ) act on voltage gates potassium channels to facilitate potassium influx. underlie the drug s
ability to slow repetitive neuronal firing thereby provide seizure control
4. Antagonism of Glutamate: is the primary excitatory transmitter in the CNS. This work through two
receptors NMDA receptors (N menthel D aspartate receptors) and AMPA receptors (Apha_amino 3

5. Potentiation of GABA: AEDs potentiate the action of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter that is
widely distributed through the brain. by augmenting the action of GABA, these drugs decrease
neuronal excitability, thus suppress seizure activity
The drugs produce side effects in most people, but there is a lack of evidence for most of the drugs in
most types of neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia. Drugs such as lacosamide, lamotrigine,
carbamazepam, clonazepam, phynytam have shown at least 50% pain intensity reduction over

Public Opinion of the Affordable Care Act
Nearly two years ago the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into
place by President Obama. This signature placed by President Obama has never rested especially well
with the American public. As to be expected, the views on health care laws are colored by
partisanship. Overall, the opinions towards the health car law have wavered slightly since the passing
in March of 2010, and support has yet to reach favorable in 2014.
Role of Public Opinion
Even with the public being well aware of the elements of the health care law, particularly individual
mandates, there is still a lack of understanding of it. According to Pinto (2013), 41 percent of
Americans felt they had a good understanding of what the new law entailed, but even after two years
and implementation the number has increased just six points to 47 percent. The purpose behind public
opinion was to make more affordable health care insurance for uninsured citizens originally (Pinto,
2013). Supporters of the Affordable Care Act believed that government run insurance companies could
successfully lower rates by using greater leverage than the private industry (Pinto, 2013). Supporters
of such public plans, believed that a small set of companies had control for local health insurance
markets. Having such public opinion at such a huge national level meant insurance companies would
cooperate. Many Democratic Politicians were publically in favor of public opinion for many reasons

Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay

Rhetorical Analysis Essay Draft
Slaughterhouse five
War is a virus, a plagues our world and has experienced since the early ages of time. Once a war is
cured a new strain begins stronger and more unforgiving as the last. Humans are creatures of habit
which continue the violence. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well
developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti
war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the
prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. Kurt Vonnegut s seemingly parallel
relationship with the main character of the novel, Billy Pilgrim, and the parallels of other characters to
real life individual paints a more vivid and real wickedness to war. All this happened, more or less.
The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true (1). In the first line of the novel Vonnegut declares his
credibility. In 1944, Kurt Vonnegut served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After this
battle, Vonnegut was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was in Dresden, Germany, during the
Allied firebombing of the city and saw the complete devastation caused by it. Vonnegut himself
escaped harm only because he, along with other POWs (prisoners of war), were working in an
underground meat locker making vitamin supplements. Similarly Billy Pilgrim, the main character of

Of Nervous Conditions By Chinua Achebe s Nervous Conditions
THE AUTHENTICITY OF AFRICAN STORIES
Africa has been viewed as the antithesis of Europe. It has been undermined as some may say it is
underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as
uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will
outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I
will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private
Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how
Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis
for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the
novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A
Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs.
According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an
opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in
contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised.
Joseph Conrad s novella eliminates Africans as a human factor and represents Africa as a blank stage
where Europeans enter an implicitly dangerous zone which functions as a plot

What Is The Importance Of Gender And Sexuality In African...
In African American studies, the scholarship of gender and sexuality is largely based in the intellectual
tradition that grew out of the civil rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s. With a discourse that
historically examines the behaviors, conditions, and attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles
based on class oppression, sex, and gender identity as social constructs found to be inextricably bound
together, the inclusion of gender and sexuality in African American studies reaches back to include the
work of such diverse social and cultural activists as Anna Julia Cooper, Ida B. Wells, and Sojourner
Truth. Working to situate the rights of all black people in a place of woman inclusive equality, the
scholarship moves forward through the work of activist intellectuals that include Elise Johnson
McDougald, and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, who urged political action for black women as a form
of physical and political protection. Moving forward, the fight for academic inclusion of African
American studies broadened the examination of race, gender, and sexuality beyond the feminism that
writer Alice Walker suggests emphasizes women s natural contribution to society (Walker, 2005).
While women were the focus of the thrust of the second wave feminist movement, which worked

Why Is Human Rights Act 1998 Important In A Nursery
Human Rights Act 1998 Article 3: The right to liberty and security of the person This act is essential
in a nursery as it allows the children to be safe and free within the setting. To do this the manager must
ensure she only employs people with the required knowledge and qualifications while also having
policies in place. To ensure children have maximum security within the nursery setting there was
security cameras set at every entrance to the nursery this allows those with access to footage to see
who is in the building at what time therefore if any incidents do occur the person responsible will be
held accountable. The nursery had locked doors that must be opened by a member of staff or someone
within. The lock systems are also high up, and out of reach from the children in the setting, this is
done to ensure children cannot escape as it would be unsafe considering the busy roads nearby. Staff
were required to wear a set uniform for identification letting children and parents know they are
supposed to be in the setting. On arrival and collection of children it is required for parents to be
assisted by a staff member, e.g. a staff member answers the door and then takes parents to the

Persuasive Essay On How To Keep It Cool During A Hot Winter
Keeping it Cool during a Hot Perth Summer
Without a doubt, if you have lived in Perth during the summer months, you already know how hot,
humid, wet, and uncomfortable the summer season can be. Being able to keep the heat and moisture
out of your home is a matter of prior planning. Here are some great tips on how to keep your home
cool without using lots of electricity.
The Windows
1. Having tall plants or trees that shade the outside of your home helps to keep the heat away from
entering through your windows.
2. Shading your windows from the outside helps to prevent nearly 75 percent of the solar heat from
reaching the windows. This can easily be done with awnings, overhanging eaves, up and down rolling
shutters, bamboo shades, and self applying reflective film.
3. Whether you have curtains or window blinds, keep them closing during the daylight hours,
especially during the peak heat generating hours of 3 to 6 PM. Light colored curtains are more
effective than darker colored ones. White blinds are effective in reflecting sunlight, and in keeping
solar heat away from the interior rooms cool.
4. Install UV Ray and Sunlight reflective window panes. This not only keeps the humidity and heat
out of your home, it will also reduce your dependence on your air conditioner.
5. Try to keep your windows closed at all times. However, it is totally fine to open your windows, if
you have screen covers, during the evenings if you live in an area that is significantly cooler

Anthropomorphism In Maus
In response to Art Spiegelman s graphic novel, Maus, I have created a sequential art series, which
would be considered a comic (Eisner, 2008). This comic titled, Holocaust, explores the complexities
of survival despite extreme persecution a prevalent theme in Maus. I have also used
anthropomorphism in these illustrations, which also has a strong presence in Maus. In this comic a
forest is persecuted as it is set on fire, all the trees of this forest face danger and a high likelihood of
death; comparable to the extreme persecution of Jewish people at the hands of the Third Reich s final
solution (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, n.d.), which is investigated by Art in Maus. In
order to make a response that is effective in its communication and has aesthetic value I have used

Similar to Spiegelman I have used anthropomorphism to develop a metaphor throughout the comic;
the fire is representative of persecution, while the trees are any ethnic or social minority. In my series
the trees have been given human characteristics, including the ability to walk, run, and express
emotion through body language and facial expression and also human instincts, the major instinct
being to survive at any consequence. While Spiegelman uses anthropomorphism to demonstrate
dehumanization of Jews and the relationship between Nazis and Jews during the Holocaust, I have
used anthropomorphism to influence the target audience and express the stripping of human rights in
subjugating people to persecution. The trees in Holocaust are burned and stripped of their bark
exposing the trees to further burns; this is representative of the stripping of basic human rights
allowing further persecution (Carmichael,

Depression In Bartleby, The Scrivener And A Hunger Artist
Depression is a negative feeling of hopelessness and feeling like you don t belong. It can affect anyone
at anytime without warning. Being in such a depressed neurological state makes people act certain
ways and do certain things. According to the medical research group Mayo Clinic: Depression is a
mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major
depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a
variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day to day activities,
and sometimes you may feel as if life isn t worth living. So this quote explains why depression is
significant and problematic to an individual. Depression is a recurring theme in the two stories
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Franz Kafka s A Hunger Artist . The stories have a
connection of depression because each character develops similar tendencies such as loss of appetite,
lack of motivation, and insomnia. The authors of the short stories experienced similar effects in their
lifetime so the stories were influenced by their personal lives. Herman Melville, famous American
writer, [D]eveloped debilitating physical and psychiatric disorders in middle age after writing,

to combine theological principles of faith along with philosophical principles of reason. He based all
decision through the God of Christianity which to Aquinas was a personal God. A lot of Aquinas
philosophy characteristics came from Aristotle s thoughts and ideas. St. Thomas Aquinas had believed
that all knowledge was rational in the way that knowledge is only gained through sensory experience.

Thomas Aquinas proofs, he reveals many truths about the divine God. God is the one to be thanked for
existence of life, orders of creation and being the sole cause and creator of the universe. God existed
before all else in the universe making him the first cause. He shows God to be neither of a finite
lifetime nor being inseparably a part of nature not being defined as transitory. God is not nature but
instead He is a divine source of all good and justice found in every man and woman no matter the
degree. Actually, God is demanded by our universe from our feelings and opinions of justice. Our
creator is the one who imprints our very being with justice. God is able to do so because he posses the
very essence of justice. To Aquinas we form the opinion and know that God is personal. Some may
argue saying that qualities which make humans personal and make their conscience greater, is what
places us above everything else God created such as plants and animals. God is the highest order of all
beings giving him the quintessence of a personal being. St. Thomas s proofs were relied on by the

The Golden Age of Greece The golden age of Greece, especially the Periclean age of Athens, was
considered to be the defining age of Greek history. The amount of cultural and intellectual innovation
in Greece was at its height during the nearly 200 year period. From 500 300 BC, many great thinkers
and philosophers rose and gave many a new perspective on life.
As Matt Barrett explained, many philosopers, such as Socrates, dwelled in Athens, along with his then
pupil, Plato. Socrates was one of the first of the philosophers to believe that life was not for collecting
material possesions, or riches, but that it was for knowing oneself and the world around oneself.
Socrates was later executed and forced to drink Hemlock for corrupting the youth of the city. Plato,
Socrates pupil, was considered an idealist. Furthermore, according to Barrett, it is said that all
philosophy is but a footnote to Plato. (Barrett)
After the end of the Persian Wars, Athens began a nearly 50 year period of prosperity under Pericles,
known as the Age of Pericles. During this time the Parthenon was built, and Athens became the
cultural, intellectual, and the artistic center of the Greek world. Throughout this time period, Athens
attracted a number of intellectuals and philosophers, which brought about a cultural and intellectual
high point in Greek history. (Barrett)

Buddhism Diane Morgan Analysis
Buddhism has many interesting aspects, but in this paper, I will be focusing on a passage from
Essential Buddhism by Diane Morgan, about karma. In her book, karma is defined as both action and
fruits of action (page 82). Karma is what Buddhist believes your life is shaped by whether it be good
or bad Karma. Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are believed to
be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become a human man.
On the other hand, bad karma will downgrade your reincarnation to a less desired level. Karma seems
to be independently driven as Morgan states in the passage that There is no punishing god ... Any
action good or bad, is a karmic seed that carries within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the religion karma is karma and it affects all sentient beings (page 85). Since there is not an
immediate punishment to create good karmic seeds, there is a lack of motivation for people in the faith
to follow that way of thinking. Unless you are completely devoted to the face, a common individual
would lack the will to go to such extremes in hopes they might one day become enlightened in another
life. I believe that because humans tend to make inherently bad choices, it is impossible for an average
human being who is not able to just dedicate all thoughts and time to the Buddhist practice to achieve
enough good karmic seeds to accomplish nirvana. Especially, since it is said that you will have no
recollection of your past life, making it difficult to correct your past wrongs, or know where your
karmic standing lies besides saying an animal is a lower karmic standing than a man. Without
knowing how you can improve your karmic standing or how let go of caring about your karmic
standing, Buddhism creates its own impossibility to receive enough good karma to achieve true

Grief Theory
1. Arnold and Boggs (2016) defined grief as a holistic, adaptive process that a person goes through
following a significant loss. Grief varies from person to person. Grief is most likely associated with a
death of a loved one, but can also be associated with any loss. Certain events and holidays can cause
the grief to resurface. Grief is more than sadness and is described as an unexpected punch in the gut
(Arnold and Boggs, 2016). The patterns of grief are: acute grief, anticipatory grief, chronic sorrow,
and complicated grieving. Acute grief occurs as somatic distress and lasts a short time. Anticipatory
grief is the response before a person dies and a person thinking about their death can cause it too.
Chronic sorrow is as a normal grief response associated with ongoing living loss that is permanent,
progressive, recurring, and cyclic in nature (Arnold and Boggs, 2016). Complicated grieving is longer
and an intense expression of grief.
The five stage model of death and dying of Elisabeth Kübler Ross is a theoretical framework related to
the grieving process. The five stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Denial
can be either temporary or last throughout one s illness. Denial is when a person refuses to believe that
they have an illness, No, not me. Anger produces feelings of unfairness and they become angry at God
and projects anger on to close loved ones. Bargaining is when the person requests extra time. In the
depression stage,

The General Analysis Of Invertebrate Richness And...
DISCUSSION
The general analysis of invertebrate richness and diversity prove that shallow leaf litter is more
biodiverse than deep leaf litter. From graph 2, shallow leaf litter is proven to be more biodiverse where
the spread of invertebrate richness is higher with a relatively low rate of error denoted by the low
standard deviation. Similarly, figure 6 also shows a similar trend where the mean of shallow leaf litter
diversity was greater than deep leaf litter. The mean results of invertebrate abundance also show
shallow leaf litter to be more abundant, however this is affected by the extreme outlier seen in figure
2, where there is a large leeway for error due to the high standard deviation. This may be due to
human error due to transcription, an error in counting the amount of species or the designated shallow
leaf litter contained species that were extremely common, providing a large abundance value.
However, figure 1 and the comparison of boxplots in graph 1, show the overall values of deep leaf
litter are centred higher, indicating that deep leaf litter has greater abundance, excluding outliers.
Similarly, the analysis of richness and diversity indicate that deep light traps are more biodiverse than
shallow light traps and are quite trustworthy as shown by the low standard deviations. According to
figure 6, the mean of both habitats were very similar but deep light traps had a slightly higher mean.
Abundance of deep light traps also proves to be greater if we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Investment In Nigeria
Foreign investment capital, both in cash and in kind (e.g. by way of machinery and equipment,
technical expertise and services), play vital role in the development of Nigeria (Agosin, 2000). Nigeria
has an extreme shortage of long term debt capital, as well as equity funds. Other financial instruments
that could support private sector development, such as leasing, are underdeveloped (CBN, 1992). In a
continent where finance is a major constraint on development, the private sector in Nigeria, in
particular, the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) suffer many disadvantages including but not
restricted to high interest rates, loan terms of rarely more than one year, absence of equity capital, and
stringent collateral requirements. These problems are further exacerbated by land titling problems.

Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil services
are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and
assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may also be where
the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s closest competitors are
Halliburton and Baker Hughes.
I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the
world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to
clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are
in the oil chain.
I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these
companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent
learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for
its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers.
Weaknesses

  • 9. The Decline Of Human Cultural Diversity Languages are being rapidly lost, at a rate of extinction. Serious concerns over the impending loss of human cultural diversity have caused many organizations to actively start engaging in the upkeep of languages. Early studies have identified areas with a high number of endangered languages, and preformed investigations. What they came across was the population size of the culture, and how vast of an area the language is spoken in, are key factors to the decline of languages. Other factors include; mass genocide, evolution, economics growth or decline, religion, a change in culture can be a partial cause for the endangerment or extinction of a language. The main factor is usually when a more powerful and pronounced language over takes the smaller subdivision languages, somewhat related to what the Lingua franca. An example of this would be in Canada. In parts of Canada such as Quebec the primary language is French, but in other many places in Canada, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Montreal, the primary language is English, so French is become less common throughout the country. The more powerful and know language allows for less language barriers, and allows easier communication. So what does it mean for a language to become endangered? It means extinction may be in the near future. Only a few people still speak the language and when they become deceased the language will soon cease to exist, unless they preserve documents or it continues to get passed on. How many languages ... • 10. The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800 women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy, from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights. Developed countries In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts are uncertain about the increase. It s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011 magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital. Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future. Our idea supports the view that this seismicity will continue due to unbalanced stresses in the plate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in the images. The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone to slip along ancient fault lines. Typically, the thicker the plate, the stronger it is, and the less likely to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This signature placed by President Obama has never rested especially well with the American public. As to be expected, the views on health care laws are colored by partisanship. Overall, the opinions towards the health car law have wavered slightly since the passing in March of 2010, and support has yet to reach favorable in 2014. Role of Public Opinion Even with the public being well aware of the elements of the health care law, particularly individual mandates, there is still a lack of understanding of it. According to Pinto (2013), 41 percent of Americans felt they had a good understanding of what the new law entailed, but even after two years and implementation the number has increased just six points to 47 percent. The purpose behind public opinion was to make more affordable health care insurance for uninsured citizens originally (Pinto, 2013). Supporters of the Affordable Care Act believed that government run insurance companies could successfully lower rates by using greater leverage than the private industry (Pinto, 2013). Supporters of such public plans, believed that a small set of companies had control for local health insurance markets. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. It has been undermined as some may say it is underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs. According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised. In African American studies, the scholarship of gender and sexuality is largely based in the intellectual tradition that grew out of the civil rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s. With a discourse that historically examines the behaviors, conditions, and attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on class oppression, sex, and gender identity as social constructs found to be inextricably bound together, the inclusion of gender and sexuality in African American studies reaches back to include the work of such diverse social and cultural activists as Anna Julia Cooper, Ida B. Wells, and Sojourner Truth. Working to situate the rights of all black people in a place of woman inclusive equality, the scholarship moves forward through the work of activist intellectuals that include Elise Johnson McDougald, and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, who urged political action for black women as a form of physical and political protection. Moving forward, the fight for academic inclusion of African American studies broadened the examination of race, gender, and sexuality beyond the feminism that writer Alice Walker suggests emphasizes women s natural contribution to society (Walker, 2005). Han has an exceptionally solid sense of self preservation. ( for reasons I have yet to figure out, other than it being a thorough case of inherent inclination ). I m sure Han is keen enough to have realized he has them early on and wouldn t want people to take advantage of them in any way, shape, or form. Depending on the occupation and his age, the requirement, and the skill of handling himself will vary. In a modern verse, Han is less controlled and skirts along apparent with his habits. After all, we all have them. Han will stammer at times, delay in replying, rub at his face tiredly, especially over his eyes ( good way to break from the situation at hand ), laugh nervously, make abrupt attempts in relieving the weighty air, gesticulate excessively, and finally, deliver sudden ultimatums to circumvent situations posthaste and or just walk the hell away. Five Proofs Of Thomas Aquinas Aquinas Five Proofs Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher and theologian during the 1200 s who liked to combine theological principles of faith along with philosophical principles of reason. He based all decision through the God of Christianity which to Aquinas was a personal God. A lot of Aquinas philosophy characteristics came from Aristotle s thoughts and ideas. St. Thomas Aquinas had believed that all knowledge was rational in the way that knowledge is only gained through sensory experience. By studying the world, the world opens up and shows the essential nature of things. According to Aquinas, one must always strive for the highest good and to believe in Christ as our salvation protecting us on Earth and in Heaven. For him, reason is powerless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Aquinas proofs, he reveals many truths about the divine God. God is the one to be thanked for existence of life, orders of creation and being the sole cause and creator of the universe. God existed before all else in the universe making him the first cause. He shows God to be neither of a finite lifetime nor being inseparably a part of nature not being defined as transitory. God is not nature but instead He is a divine source of all good and justice found in every man and woman no matter the degree. Actually, God is demanded by our universe from our feelings and opinions of justice. Our creator is the one who imprints our very being with justice. God is able to do so because he posses the very essence of justice. To Aquinas we form the opinion and know that God is personal. Some may argue saying that qualities which make humans personal and make their conscience greater, is what places us above everything else God created such as plants and animals. • 37. The Golden Age Of Greek Essay Kevin S. Burton Sohn English II Honors 7 April 2015 Word Count: 1360 The Golden Age of Greece The golden age of Greece, especially the Periclean age of Athens, was considered to be the defining age of Greek history. The amount of cultural and intellectual innovation in Greece was at its height during the nearly 200 year period. From 500 300 BC, many great thinkers and philosophers rose and gave many a new perspective on life. As Matt Barrett explained, many philosopers, such as Socrates, dwelled in Athens, along with his then pupil, Plato. Socrates was one of the first of the philosophers to believe that life was not for collecting material possesions, or riches, but that it was for knowing oneself and the world around oneself. Socrates was later executed and forced to drink Hemlock for corrupting the youth of the city. Plato, Socrates pupil, was considered an idealist. Furthermore, according to Barrett, it is said that all philosophy is but a footnote to Plato. (Barrett) After the end of the Persian Wars, Athens began a nearly 50 year period of prosperity under Pericles, known as the Age of Pericles. During this time the Parthenon was built, and Athens became the cultural, intellectual, and the artistic center of the Greek world. Throughout this time period, Athens attracted a number of intellectuals and philosophers, which brought about a cultural and intellectual high point in Greek history. • 39. Buddhism Diane Morgan Analysis Buddhism has many interesting aspects, but in this paper, I will be focusing on a passage from Essential Buddhism by Diane Morgan, about karma. In her book, karma is defined as both action and fruits of action (page 82). Karma is what Buddhist believes your life is shaped by whether it be good or bad Karma. Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are believed to be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become a human man. On the other hand, bad karma will downgrade your reincarnation to a less desired level. Karma seems to be independently driven as Morgan states in the passage that There is no punishing god ... Since there is not an immediate punishment to create good karmic seeds, there is a lack of motivation for people in the faith to follow that way of thinking. Unless you are completely devoted to the face, a common individual would lack the will to go to such extremes in hopes they might one day become enlightened in another life. I believe that because humans tend to make inherently bad choices, it is impossible for an average human being who is not able to just dedicate all thoughts and time to the Buddhist practice to achieve enough good karmic seeds to accomplish nirvana. Especially, since it is said that you will have no recollection of your past life, making it difficult to correct your past wrongs, or know where your karmic standing lies besides saying an animal is a lower karmic standing than a man. Without knowing how you can improve your karmic standing or how let go of caring about your karmic standing, Buddhism creates its own impossibility to receive enough good karma to achieve true ... • 40. Grief Theory 1. Arnold and Boggs (2016) defined grief as a holistic, adaptive process that a person goes through following a significant loss. Grief varies from person to person. Grief is most likely associated with a death of a loved one, but can also be associated with any loss. Certain events and holidays can cause the grief to resurface. Grief is more than sadness and is described as an unexpected punch in the gut (Arnold and Boggs, 2016). The patterns of grief are: acute grief, anticipatory grief, chronic sorrow, and complicated grieving. Acute grief occurs as somatic distress and lasts a short time. Anticipatory grief is the response before a person dies and a person thinking about their death can cause it too. Chronic sorrow is as a normal grief response associated with ongoing living loss that is permanent, progressive, recurring, and cyclic in nature (Arnold and Boggs, 2016). Complicated grieving is longer and an intense expression of grief. The five stage model of death and dying of Elisabeth Kübler Ross is a theoretical framework related to the grieving process. The five stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Denial can be either temporary or last throughout one s illness. Denial is when a person refuses to believe that they have an illness, No, not me. Anger produces feelings of unfairness and they become angry at God and projects anger on to close loved ones. Bargaining is when the person requests extra time. In the depression stage, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to our main character Phoenix Jackson. She is described as a small, old Negro woman. The name Eudora Welty gives the main character is emblematic, it evokes images of the mythical bird which rises from the flames and regenerates. The story of the mythical creature is that it lives for five centuries before burning to ashes, and then afterward, it rises back up to life as a young bird from the ashes to complete a continuous cycle. • 42. The General Analysis Of Invertebrate Richness And... DISCUSSION The general analysis of invertebrate richness and diversity prove that shallow leaf litter is more biodiverse than deep leaf litter. From graph 2, shallow leaf litter is proven to be more biodiverse where the spread of invertebrate richness is higher with a relatively low rate of error denoted by the low standard deviation. Similarly, figure 6 also shows a similar trend where the mean of shallow leaf litter diversity was greater than deep leaf litter. The mean results of invertebrate abundance also show shallow leaf litter to be more abundant, however this is affected by the extreme outlier seen in figure 2, where there is a large leeway for error due to the high standard deviation. This may be due to human error due to transcription, an error in counting the amount of species or the designated shallow leaf litter contained species that were extremely common, providing a large abundance value. However, figure 1 and the comparison of boxplots in graph 1, show the overall values of deep leaf litter are centred higher, indicating that deep leaf litter has greater abundance, excluding outliers. Similarly, the analysis of richness and diversity indicate that deep light traps are more biodiverse than shallow light traps and are quite trustworthy as shown by the low standard deviations. According to figure 6, the mean of both habitats were very similar but deep light traps had a slightly higher mean. Abundance of deep light traps also proves to be greater if we ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Investment In Nigeria Foreign investment capital, both in cash and in kind (e.g. by way of machinery and equipment, technical expertise and services), play vital role in the development of Nigeria (Agosin, 2000). In a continent where finance is a major constraint on development, the private sector in Nigeria, in particular, the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) suffer many disadvantages including but not restricted to high interest rates, loan terms of rarely more than one year, absence of equity capital, and stringent collateral requirements.
