The Economic Development Of The World Economy
Since the 1990s, the world economy has undergone profound historical changes that focus is reflected
in the global economy as a whole, has never been a time like this, the economic development of all
countries closely together to form the world economy integration, both in developed and developing
countries, or countries with economies in transition, businesses dependent on the world economy is
growing, the development of the world economy, is an inevitable result. Economic integration in the
world system is highly dependent on individual enterprises, whether a country or a change in the
enterprise, will cause a corresponding change in other sectors, resulting directly or indirectly. In every
enterprise, it is possible to break through their limitations in the national market size and resource
allocation, and a place in the fierce international competition, so that the world economic integration
has become the first international development of the power companies

Reasonable Occupation Review Paper
Effects of the Realistic Job Previews on Employees Job Satisfaction
Abstract
Reasonable occupation review (RJP) is the presentation of data both positive and negative given to the
forthcoming representative about the occupation and the association. The data gave is expected to give
the practical picture of the association. The part of the data stream is to touch base at a phase where
the desires of the representative and the candidate match. It is being contended that representatives
who are given RJP s amid the enlistment and determination process have higher occupation
fulfillment. Along these lines, the point of this study is to distinguish the connections between
practical work sneak peaks and worker work fulfillment in the associations. ... Show more content on

It is made helpful by utilizing both formal and casual techniques. Its convenience can be surveyed if
the association discovers workforce, which coordinates its necessities.Better enlistment strategies give
an upper hand to the association (Kecia, and Gail, 1999). One of the striking elements of an enlistment
procedure is the capacity to influence an applicant (Quinetta, Collins and Oreg, 2005). It imparts
looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the occupation candidate before he/she makes a
choice to acknowledge the occupation offer (Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete
depiction of the employment (O Nell et al., 2001). It is meant to guarantee that gainful and able
candidates must join the association with a long haul responsibility to the association (Champnoise,
2004). It is normal that a great job practical sneak peak can help in lessening the turnover and the
employing cost (O Nell et al., 2001). RJPs are proposed to give practical employment data. On the off
chance that the data is excessively negative, then it would withhold the possibility to join the
association (Quinetta, Collins, and Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and
negative data, and the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). RJPs are
given in different configurations and through various strategies (Champnoise, 2004). In any case, it is
too imperative that the

Understanding Society I: Introduction to Social Theory
Lecturer: Dr Filipa Figueira
Topic: Is Weber s emphasis on Protestant/Northern European values in The Protestant Ethic and the
Spirit of Capitalism useful to explain economic disparities between countries in the 21st century?
C andidate Number: TMVG1

Max Weber, one of the founding fathers of Sociology, is described as our greatest resource as a
sociologist (Collins, 1986: 5), and is considered by many contemporary sociologists the most
important contributor to the discipline. As Bendix notes, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of

Viller s essay on The Spirit and Influence of Luther s Reformation (Villers 1804). Weber s
contribution instead was to give a reason for it to turn the observation into a grand socio economic
theory (Young, 2009:

storms in the area, but king John then renamed it to the Cape of Good Hope. After Dias s massive
discovery, he returned to Portugal in December, 1488. Due to Dias s brilliant discovery, he was later

Deaf Culture And Interpreters History
American Deaf Culture and Interpreters History Deaf culture in is one of America s many sub
cultures, which means that it is a culture imbedded into the overall culture of the nation. What is
unique about the deaf culture is that at times it is a sub culture of a sub culture, of a culture, for
example the deaf community in Colorado is a sub culture of Colorado s culture, and Colorado culture
is a sub culture of the American culture. It can get even more complicated than even that, because say
there is an African American deaf culture in the deaf community that adds another deaf culture. It is
also unique and set apart from other cultures because of the language barrier between the deaf
community and the hearing community. Deaf culture has only recently been accepted by the general
public, as well as they have not always had access to an interpreter. Deaf culture has changed
drastically since before the 1960 s.
In today s society deaf culture is not considered to be a population of animal like humans, but that was
not the case before the 1960 s. In the past people who were deaf did not live normal lives, they were in
a way the outcasts. If you were born deaf before the 1960 s there were not many options for the deaf,
often times they were looked down upon and thought of as glorified animals. Because they were
viewed as animals they were not accepted into the mainstream schools, even though there were a few
institutes for the deaf, a lot of times families could not afford

The Effects Of Radiation Exposure On The Environment
Throughout history, populations have been affected by the devastating effects of radiation disasters.
Chernobyl in 1986 and Fukushima in 2011 are a few radiation disasters that will be highlighted.
Chernobyl could be argued as one of the worst incidents of radiation exposure to the general public.
Aspects of this paper include background on accidents, the effects of the radiation exposure, and the
impact of the population living within the areas. As well as the cost, not only economically but
environmentally. Much can be learned from these incidents on a government and individual level.
Governments need to understand the magnitude of such a disaster and how to help those affected
most. While individuals should be more aware of the dangers of radiation exposure and how their
living situations may put them at a higher risk. The public needs to be informed and educated on how
accidents like these affect their lives. Chernobyl was the largest uncontrolled radioactive release ever
recorded for any civilian operation. Chernobyl had four reactors, which were run on low power
making them very unstable. There was a huge power surge which increased the heat in reactor number
four. The increased heat set off a chain of events that couldn t be controlled. Pipes began to rupture as
well making the prefect condition for two major explosions. Most other nuclear power plants have a
containment enclosure, but Chernobyl did not. Since there was no enclosure this resulted in

Leavell And Clark Model
Leavell and Clark model wanted to explain how the relationship between an agent, host, and
environment could affect an individual s health. Agent Host Environment model, according to Leavell
and Clark, is beneficial for investigative causes of disease in an individual. The model attempts to
explain how the interconnection of three separate elements correlates to affect an individual health
status. The agent host environmental model suggests, how certain factors must be present or absent for
an illness to occur; and as a result of such external factor a living organism is capable of being
adversely infected or affected by outside influences (Leavell and Clark, 1965).

Based on the latest Census review, more than half of Americans with dementia due to AD are at the
moderate or severe stages of the disease. The accumulating care burdens associated with the
progression of AD place considerable stress on caregivers and families of the person with AD, and
often determine whether that person is placed in a nursing home. Furthermore, greater impairments in
cognition, ADL, and behavior are associated with higher societal costs of AD related care. Successful
symptomatic therapies, particularly in the moderate and severe stages of the disease, may provide
substantial health and quality of life benefits, not only for the patient, but also for those in their
caregiving network via reduced AD related burden and stress. Moreover, effective treatment of
symptoms may also delay nursing home placement and help reduce costs related to patient care

Tyranny And The Social Wellbeing Of Citizens
During the 19th century, in the age after the French Revolution, the vast majority of political and
philosophical thinkers concerned themselves at some point with the issue of tyranny in society. Such
writers spanned from Alexis de Tocqueville, to John Stuart Mill, to Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
The interpretations and approaches taken to the subject of tyranny and how to protect against it,
though, were as varied as the collection of authors who addressed it. From de Tocqueville s stringent
observations in Democracy in America, the concept of a purely political tyranny is delineated. In
contrast, Mill s essay On Liberty focuses on a particular strain of despotic oppression that threatens
the social wellbeing of citizens. Yet another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, John Stuart Mill s essay On Liberty focuses almost entirely on Mill s idea of how forms of
tyranny have evolved throughout history, and how the most pressing form is a new tyranny of the
majority in which the force of the public opinion is used to silence individuals. Mill seeks to describe
how in the past, protection against the tyranny of political rulers was necessary to ensure the liberty of
individuals, but the problem now has evolved from tyrannical political leaders to an oppressive public
that may desire to oppress a part of their number (Mill 7). Similar to Mill, Karl Marx and Friedrich
Engels make the subject of tyranny the focus of The Communist Manifesto; choosing to utilize the
manifesto to dissect the tyrannical ways that the bourgeoisie operates in society. Written as an
observation of the struggles of the working class stemming from the Industrial Revolution, The
Communist Manifesto delineates how bourgeois society has established new classes, new conditions
of oppression, [and] new forms of struggle for the working class proletariat (Marx Engels 3). As Marx
and Engels were commissioned to draft the manifesto for the Communist League, it makes sense that
the piece is intended to provoke the common citizen into recognizing their potential exploitation.
Additionally, the actual definition that each author

The Importance Of Sex Education
In America, Sex Education is put on the back burner when it comes to education, which is causing a
rise in teen pregnancy rates and STI/HIV rates in the United states. A lot of the Sex Education in our
country is based on fear and putting Sex and Sexuality as something that is not normal (Heather). Sex
Education in America is very important to teach the youth; with help from teachers and parents can
make the youth more aware about proper sex education and how to have safe sex, and learn healthy
relationship normalities.
There is a lot of controversy over teaching comprehensive sex education among people, some people
believe that teaching comprehensive sex education causes rates of teen pregnancy and STI/Aids rates
to go up. Just like we keep up with teaching the youth Math and Science, we also need to keep them
up to date on issues like Sex Education. This is important so the youth can be aware of these things
like STIs when they are adults and know how to protect themselves, and possibly others . There is no
evidence that teaching kids to use condoms causes a spike in sexual activity ( Comprehensive ). In
past surveys ninety percent of Americans over the age of eighteen felt sex education was very
important to include in public school curriculum.Comprehensive Sex education has been proven
statistically to be better than teaching abstinence only education. The population council declared that
Abstinence only programs are ineffective at preventing teen pregnancy and STI s.

Boyz In The Hood Social Role Theory
Boyz in the Hood starts off with the character Tre Styles as a young man who lives in South Central,
Los Angeles with his mom Rita. The social work student viewed this beginning portion of the movie
portraying his young life as a social worker. The social work student noticed that Tre lived with his
mother in an apartment in a rough neighborhood. Tre went to school but had problems acting out and
being the class clown. Tre and the friends he hung around here had foul language and used profanity
as young kids. This is just one example of how Tre s surroundings influenced his life. According to
Newman Newman (2014), the Social Role theory suggests that a person learns behaviors from
observing in their environments. Young Tre Styles learned profanity from somewhere in his rough
environment and this is a method of learning socially. Rita, his mother was working on her Master s
degree and wanted better for Tre, so it is unlikely she promoted the use of profanity in her household.
A contract between the two was drafter and Tre agreed with his mother that if he did not behave he
would move in with his father. Rita stayed true to the contract they drafted and took Tre to live with
his father Furious, so Tre could learn how to be a man.
Fast forward 7 years later to a now older Tre Styles, his educational background has grown and the
only minor source of trauma that has occurred could be the change of living with his father instead of
his mother now. Tre still talked to his mom

The Romantic Period Of Literature
The Romantic Period of literature took place roughly 200 years ago, but examples of Romanticism
can still be seen today. The Romantic authors most certainly had an impact on many artists to come.
Edgar Allan Poe is often a name that comes to mind when discussing Romanticism and especially
Dark Romanticism and for good reason. Poe exemplifies Romanticism and many examples can be
seen in his work, such as the House of Usher. Some traits of Romanticism include high drama,
pathetic fallacy, and shocking climax, which are a few pillars of the Romanticism style. These pillars
still hold up in modern day art, with many filmmakers, such as M. Night Shyamalan who also
exemplifies traits such as high drama, pathetic fallacy, and black and white characters.
Edgar Allen Poe was an American author who wrote many short stories and poetry that has glorified
him as a master of horror, suspense, psychological thriller, and romanticism. One of his works that
embodies such pillars of Romanticism is the Fall of the House of Usher. In this story, Poe embraces
pathetic fallacy from the very beginning. He talks about how gloomy and mysterious the house is
which is also a house from his childhood. He sets the stage with the following quote: DURING the
whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively
low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of
country ; and at length found myself, as the

With the appearance of Waiting for Godot at the Théâtre de Babylone in Paris in 1953, the literary
world was shaken by the arrival of a drama so different yet so thrilling that it gave rise to the Theater
of the Absurd . His contribution to this particular type of theater movement allows us to refer to him as
the father of the genre. While other dramatists, such as Tom Stoppard, have also contributed to this
genre, Beckett remains its single, most lofty figure. It is this type of theater that deals with the absurd
aspects of life, to stress upon its native meaninglessness. It is the time and identity of characters that
are usually vague or ambiguous in such plays from the theater of absurd. The plays are dreamy and

This shows us as to how there is a series of events taking place and both, Estragon and Vladimir go
through an endless string of days waiting for someone who they have no idea about Godot. Even
though there was a messenger boy through whom Godot apparently sent across messages to Estragon
and Vladimir, they never seemed to receive it. In the first act, the messenger boy arrives to tell the two
stranded men that Godot will not arrive that night but will surely be before them the next night.
The play merely focuses on time and how Vladimir and Estragon wait for no apparent reason even
though they know Godot isn t going to come. These meaningless arguments and waiting is all they are
ever portrayed doing, repetitively contemplating leaving the place or leaving life for that matter
hanging themselves on the tree and committing suicide. This makes it seem like as though the
characters are stuck, and have no way out of the situation. Thoughts of leaving the place always get
ignored as they once again go back to the beginning hoping that Godot will arrive. This is because
they are afraid that something might go wrong if they stop this waiting which is indeed a significant,
day to day component of human existence.
As the first act comes to an end, the characters of Pozzo and his beloved dog Lucky are introduced
and join Estragon and Vladimir. These two characters intrude the format of how Vladimir and

Infections of the American Chestnut Tree Essay
Cryphonectria parasitica, a filamentous, ascomycete fungus, is the causal agent of the chestnut
blight5,14 which was introduced to North America from Japan circa 190412,14.The chestnut blight
infects all members of the Castanea family14, and some members of the genus Quercus though C.
parasitica infections are superficial14. A C. parasitica infection typically begins at a branch node or
wound in the tree s bark 14. Once a spore has entered the tree, hyphal growth begins14. When the
fungi s hyphae reach the cambium, the xylem and phloem are blocked, cutting off the transport of
water and nutrients and a sunken canker is formed14. Eventually, the lack of water and nutrients kills
the tree above the point of infection14. As a fungus, C. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One excellent use for blight resistant American chestnuts is reclaiming surface mines. Though other
species of trees can survive in the harsh conditions typical of surface mines, they have little to no
value as lumber and provide little for wildlife4. Chestnuts would also provide a fast growing lumber
source, one that is lightweight, strong, and moderately rot resistant. Additionally, the large nut crops
produced by the American chestnut would increase the ecosystems carrying capacity for wildlife, and
moderate population fluctuations that follow mast (nut crop) fluctuations. For these and other reasons
which space here does not permit, restoring the American chestnut is worthwhile endeavor.
Although C. dentata is not resistant to an infection by the blight fungus, it is not entirely defenseless.
One attempt at warding off C. parasitica is the growth of callus encircling the fungi s mycelium to
prevent its spread (cite). This may or may not work, in either case the fungi will spread to another site
on the tree via sporulation. A second barrier to blight infection is the chestnut s relatively high levels
of tannic acid(s) in the cambium (cite). However, as will be discussed later, tannic acids may benefit
the blight. The most promising method for increasing C. denata s blight resistance is The American
Chestnut Foundation s breeding program. To give the chestnut the advantage in its battle with its
evolutionary foe, it is necessary to study the factors that make C.

I strive to be as generous as Lamson because I know that there are many things in this world that I
have received that I do not deserve, and I feel like it is my duty to give back to those who are in need

that I need to break because I internally believe that I should donate money to those who need it more
than me. If I ever become as wealthy as he was, I hope to use his generosity as a guide on how I
should spend my money. His continual giving allowed him to build many relationships and positively
influence others in a way that not many could. Also, I hope to impact others through serving the
community in the way that Alfred did. I aspire to be as diligent as Lamson in work because I have
seen the success that he has attained through simply pushing through tough times with a dogged and
persevering attitude. Lamson s diligence in his occupation and community service truly distinguished
him in his community and field, and gave him many opportunities to give back and help others. In

It is possible to notice differences in the climate behavior around the word. The elderly people from

It also can harm the animal and vegetal spicies, extinguishing them in a worst scenario. Socially, as
consequence of the loss of land it would result in crowded population and health implications: air

of edible resources, less job oportunities for the population; therefore, adversely affect the global
economy.
There is no proof of how much countries need to reduce the production of Greenhouse gases, but since
years ago that scientists have been studying attempts to solve te Global Warming and avoid or stop the
climate changing. With the development of the technology, many countries start slowly replacing the
old fashioned cars for electric cars to reduce the pollution, which is an example of use of alternative

the coal burning from the industries, are plausible solutions too. In the year of 1997, in Kyoto, Japan,

Pentacle Research Paper
The Pentacle is an amulet, or talisman, that is disk shaped and inscribed with a pentagram. To be clear,
the pentacle is a pentagram with a circle around it. If the shape differs in any way, meaning the
pentagram is surrounded by anything but a circle, and if the shape inside the circle is not a pentagram,
then it is not a pentacle. The pentacle is a five pointed star surrounded by a circle. The points represent
the elements, and is often used in ceremonial magick for evoking spirits, protection during rituals, and
spells. The Pentacle is used as an altar tool, or worn as a piece of jewelry for protection. It is one of
four elemental tools; the chalice, athame, and wand that practitioners of witchcraft use when creating
rituals and spells. The Pentacle is generally found in the middle of most altars, objects such as crystals
or tools may be placed on it to be consecrated and charged. Rich in history, the Pentacles oldest known
use dates to around 3,000 3,500 B.C., when the Babylonians used it to depict angles and directional
orientation. With the formation of the Catholic Church, many Christians utilized the Pentacle to
represent the five wounds of Jesus Christ; two hands, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Triffid
Literature circle
In the past few chapters nothing has actually happened with the Triffids which made myself kind of
bored thinking about what I would do if I was a Triffid. In this essay I will be talking about what I
would do if I were in the place of a Triffid and about why I would do in these situations and I will also
be talking about the several consequences of doing these events.First I will be talking about what I
would do if I were a Triffid.
If I were a Triffid I would stay on a street hidden and I would wait until I found a person that was
alone and nobody could witness him, then I would attack him and I would keep doing that one at a
time for about a week After that I would use the dead bodies everywhere and eat them for the reason
that is how Triffids survive. Then I would travel back and call a dozen Triffids and feed on all the dead
bodies we kill with a limit of 3 a day so they can live longer than other Triffids ... Show more content

One consequence, there would be is that if I kept killing people that I find alone, then the human
population would decrease insanely quickly until there are no creatures left, but Triffids. One other
consequences that could occur is that the Triffids I call could eat all the humans, which is the main
food Triffids eat but if there aren t any humans Triffids would die. The final consequence would be
when I eat the dead bodies that I find that could be extremely dangerous if they have an unknown
disease that might kill the Triffids. These are the consequences that could happen if I were a Triffid.
In conclusion If I were a Triffid I would do varied activities that the Triffid in the book did not do and
I have several reasons why I would do those activities the Triffids didn t do in the previous
chapters. There would be numerous consequences that could happen if I were in the place of a

Shadow Of The Colossi Essay
You take control of a young man called Wander who has brought the body of young women called
Mono to a temple situated in the forbidden lands. Wander is seeking an entity called Dormin who
possess the ability to bring back her soul from the dead. The Dormin agree to Wander s request on the
condition that he destroys the 16 Colossi that are holding the Dormin captive. Wander agrees to the
request and so begins his journey across the forbidden lands.
To find the Colossi, you need to raise your sword above your head while in a sunlit area which reflects
the light pointing you in the right direction. From there you can hop on your horse Agro and gallop to
each location. Consequently, although Shadow of the Colossus is an open world game, aside from the
Colossi and a few lizards you can eat to gain stamina, there is nothing in the world to interact with.
Essentially you re tasked with 16 individually boss fights.
Gameplay
Upon meeting the first few Colosi, each of them invokes a sense of fear predominantly due to their
imposing demeanour. All of these massive hulking beasts, are covered in fur and stone, which you ll
use to mount and then climb to find their specific weak spots. By thrusting your mythical sword into
these vulnerable areas, the Colosi will gradually weaken until their health completely deteriorates and

Nike Of Samothrace Greek Goddess Comparison
Nike of Samothrace is a sculpture from 190 BCE, first found on Samothrace, a Greek island, in 1863.
This statue is a female figure with wings, wearing a flowing gown. It s said to represent Nike, the
Greek Goddess of Victory, and her winning in battle. It shows various elements of the Hellenistic
period, such as the use of space and dimension. The Snake Goddess is a 1600 BCE figurine found in
1903, in Knossos, Crete by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans. It s made of Faience, a glass like
material, and it shows a large breasted women whose holding two snakes on each of her hands
supporting a feline like figure on her head, and it s wearing what seems to be a long layered skirt with
a metal looking accessory or girdle on her waist. The biggest similarity between these two sculptures
is that both represent femininity through this new sensual female form as well as strength, and both

Her complex clothing calls attention to her exposed breast, very slim waist and wide hips,
exaggerating her sexual features. These exaggerated features are caused by her ornamental dress. The
naturalism shown in this sculpture is common in Minoan art, just as the patterns, colors and folds
bring the typical Minoan dresses alive. Her body is mostly proportional, except for her hands which
seem to be too small for her body. Not a common detail on Minoan sculptures so it s most likely not
intentional. The Nike of Samothrace is an example of Hellenistic sculpture. Nike s wings are open and
the diagonal thrust of her body makes it seem as if she s turning while moving forward. The details on
the marble show her gown still tugged by the breeze created as she landed on the front of a ship. Her
body is farily Classical, except for the thickness of her hips. The texture of her feathers, the flutter of
her clothing and the openness of her body gives an illusion that captures attention as never

The Effects Of Mining On The Environment And Economy For...
Mining is the process or industry of obtaining coal or other minerals from a mine. A new mining
project, called the Back Forty, is was proposed and is located on the Michigan and Wisconsin border.
This project is said to begin around 2020 and created concern for some people. The Aquila Resources
Inc. is the company behind this proposal, and they said it will invest more than $300 million to extract
gold, zinc, copper and silver along the Menominee River (Bergquist, 2016). The Menominee river is
part of the border between Wisconsin and Michigan. The mine will have large effects on the
environment and economy for Lake Michigan and Wisconsin. The next paragraphs will discuss the
positive and negative effects that the Back Forty could create. One side would be for the mine and say
that the economic benefits would outweigh the negative effects on the environment, while the
opposing side would say the opposite.
To begin, those who are for mining would say that the Back Forty will have positive effects on the
economy in places near it. Many people could assume that opening a mine could create more jobs, and
essentially help the economy. One example, from another mine from Hunter Valley, is that mining
provided the major source of energy for industry, transport and economic development, (Cottle, 2013).
This shows that mining can have very good impacts. A specific way the Back Forty can affect
northeastern Wisconsin is it would generate more, than $20 million in new tax revenue

International Trade Organization And Trade Agreements
International trade has been present in society for centuries; however, today s interconnected
economies and growing globalization has to lead to an increase in trading regulations and the creation
of trading blocs which aim to implement easier and cheaper trade within global economies. In 1995,
164 countries came together to create the world trade organization. This organization deals with
trading rules and agreements within nations. This report will assess the benefits and challenges which
occur through international trade agreements. As well as aiming to provide an overview of trade

To protect business growth and ensure no business can steal the assets of another the WTO created the
controversial trade related aspects of international property rights(TRIPS) agreement. Innovative

IPRs stimulate inventive and creative activities 4 because the trips agreement is implemented to
protect innovation, it can be inferred that this agreement is crucial in generating economic growth. The
WTO has not only enhanced the value and quantity of trade but has also assisted in eradicated trade

the agenda by including developmental policies which further helped in settlement of disputes and
improved monitoring by introducing the Trade Policy Review and the World Trade Report as well as
increased transparency by removing green room negotiations. 1.1 The two different types of trade:

commitment to provide all needed assistance to guests, crew members and the local Italian authorities

The key messages conveyed by Foschi were that the company has a strict safety policy, all crew
behaved according to evacuation procedures and that the poor judgment of Captain Schettino caused
the incident. Many questions and allegations were brought up during the conference such as reports
that the captain left the ship before all passengers and crew had been evacuated. Foschi responded by
saying, We are unable to ascertain whether he left the ship before the conclusion of the evacuation.
Some internal testimony indicates that he really tried to stay on board but we have to wait for the
formal investigation. So, Foschi stated that the company had to wait for the conclusion of the formal
investigation to comment any further on that allegation, yet they were quick to put all the blame on the
captain to mitigate their own liability. Foschi said that the captain wanted to salute the island of Giglio
by bringing the ship close to the shore. He did not follow the authorized route that was frequently used
by Costa Ships and brought the ship about 150 metres from the island where it struck the rock, which
was clearly marked on charts. Foschi confirmed that on one other occasion, August 9th and 10th 2011,
another Costa ship sailed close to shore but the path was approved by all necessary authorities and the
ship was never less than 500 metres from the

Associated morbidities of SIBO are anemia, malabsorption, and malnutrition [14].
Diagnosis can be made with the hydrogen glucose breath test. However, a methane measurement
improves the sensitivity of the hydrogen breath test and decreases false positive results. Hydrogen
production originates from non digestable lactose. In patients with CF, the colonic flora frequently
does not produce hydrogen, whereas the methane production is higher [19].
Treatment (Table 3) includes antibiotics, especially orally, with improvement of fat digestion and
absorption [15]. Other treatment options are pre and probiotics. Prebiotics are selectively fermented
ingredients that promote specific changes in the composition and activity in the gastrointestinal
microflora that will benefit the flora. They are not metabolized by pathogenic bacterial strains and
induce a proliferation of the beneficial microbionts [20]. Probiotics are live bacteria that provide a
positive effect on the inflammatory response of the gastrointestinal tract by improving the endothelial
intestinal barrier, diminishing the bacterial adhesion, lowering the pH intraluminal and enhancing the

As to my own part, having turned my thoughts for many years, upon this important subject, and
maturely weighed the several schemes of our projectors, I have always found them grossly mistaken
in their computation. It is true. There are not enough drivers who drive under the influence. In the year
2001, MADD Online approximated that only one in ten drivers, a mere 25 million, drove drunk, and,
consequently these drivers were the ones significantly more likely to be involved in a crash of some
sort, but why shouldn t we level the playing field? (1)
There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will obliterate the need for expensive
car insurance plans. Those plans steal from us our hard earned money and will no longer be necessary
if we all are at equal risk for damage, risk, and liability.
The number of souls in this country is currently reckoned at just under three hundred million
(American FactFinder 1). Of these are calculated to be approximately two hundred million licensed
drivers (Licensed Drivers Our Nation s Highways 2000 1); from which number I subtract twenty five
million who already drive while intoxicated (MADD Online 1). This being granted, there remains one

Music Is The Most Popular Genres Of Music Essay
Music has been found in every culture in present time, as well as in the past, dating back almost
55,000 years (citation), with roots in Africa. Music is one of the most basic art forms and is a way of
life for many; a means of expression relative to emotions, culture, and one s self. Music is all around
us and it s hard to imagine going one day without listening to some variety of music. Music has
evolved tremendously from prehistoric times today, but one thing s stayed the same one culture s
music is influenced by the culture as a whole. The period in history directly influences the style and
genre of music. For example, in the mid 1930 s, during the Great Depression, Swing music became
one of the most popular genres of music, because it created an upbeat vibe, which created pleasure and
happiness that hadn t been felt due to the Great Depression. Through music, the American population
was able to experience a sense of joy that was otherwise absent during that period in history. The brain
is an astonishing organ of the human body, comprising the majority of the central nervous system. The
brain has great control over functions of the body, as a whole. The brain allows for thoughts and
actions to be executed on a daily basis. Fundamental functions of the brain include instincts, emotions,
behavior, and concepts (Perlovsky, 2012). Further, the brain constantly develops and transforms,
according to one s environment (nurture vs. nature), behavior, and brain injury.

In fact, evidence suggests that his interactions and associations could be the reason that led to the
shooting at the O.K. Corral [2]. Essentially, Doc Holliday was friends with a William Leonard, who
was later implicated in an attempted stagecoach robbery, that resulted in the death of two of three
passengers. Prior to this event, Holliday had had a number of run ins with an individual by the name
of Milt Joyce. A number of times Holliday was arrested and taken to court for assault. These charges
were often dropped after Holliday paid court fees and the fines associated. Because of these
confrontations and Holliday s relationship with Leonard, Holliday was accused of being a part of the
gang (who mostly consisted of members of the Cowboy gang) who attempted to rob the stagecoach.
To clear Holliday s name, the Earps (Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan) formed a posse that hunted down the
other members of the gang. To find some of the men that could clear Holliday s name, Wyatt made a
deal with Ike Clanton (a known Cowboy member), Wyatt would give Ike the reward money for the
outlaws, if Ike would give information regarding their whereabouts[2]. Ike Clanton, on the other hand,
denied such a deal occurring. He said that Wyatt approached him, but he [Ike] would have nothing to
do with the deal [1]. When the outlaws were found, they (allegedly) resisted arrest and the outlaws in
the party who could clear Holliday s name were killed. Ike grew restless and fearing that the Cowboys
would hear about his deal with Wyatt [2]. Ike accused Wyatt of sharing their plan with Holliday. Ike

La Jolla Symphony Essay
The La Jolla Symphony concert was held on a warm Saturday night, May 5th, and it was definitely a
memorable experience, since it was the first symphony concert that I have ever attended in my life.
The whole atmosphere was very engaging and the music itself was very different in an insightful way.
Over the course of the concert, five pieces were played as Sameer Patel conducted. Each piece was
incredibly unique in their own way and did associate themselves together and also to many of the
concepts we have learned in class. The concert overall was astonishing that I enjoyed every second of

Sound painting is also displayed in many of the works. The entire pieces except Stravinsky s I would
say are undoubtedly romantic works. An additional unifying theme that I detected in all the pieces was
that there lies unconventional beauty and one must carefully listen to recognize its presence. The
symphonies performed were constructed by well renowned composers such as Arnold Schoenberg,
Olivier Messiaen, Igor Stravinsky and other compelling composers as well. Many of these composers
led overwhelming lives that clearly influenced their works. The symphonies drew the listeners closer
and closer to their rich and bold sounds. For instance, Schoenberg s famous emancipation of
dissonance was reflective in his Five Pieces for Orchestra . He derived the intriguing concept of
dissonance and presented this as it was his first atonal piece. The colors and sharp sounds were very
dynamic. The first four pieces I would say are programmatic and Stravinsky s pieces are absolute; he
made a clear reference to classical music. However it is important to note how Schoenberg intended
his piece to be non programmatic in order to focus more on the evolved music he had created. On the
other hand his titles

The world is always changing, people, ideas, and new rules. The way people think and what they want
in life change as they age and as new progress is made. Therefor, government should be changed when
its ideals no longer aline with that of the peoples. The right of the government to rule over people
should come from the people s approval. If people do not agree with their government they have the

the power of the government may be in the hands of a single ruler or monarch who has no interest in

Essay On The Desert Storm
The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam
Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included
many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the
United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991 (The
Gulf War,1991)
The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert
Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam
Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country of
Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to withdraw
from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands. Because he
refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi takeover posed a
threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United States. If Saudi Arabia
took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one fifth of the world s oil supply. The Middle
East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from President George H. W. Bush.

Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for
it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there commands. Windows
1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linux a few years
later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. Open source meant
that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking. This has allowed multiple different
versions of Linux to be produced since then including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what
you would expect from the name. It is a version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linux also started with a command line interface like Windows. There are many similarities between
the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based on preference. A detailed evaluation will
often reveal that Windows has more features, and is easier to sue than Linux. When I took a survey of
my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I asked
these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons. Some said that they preferred
to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others
said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they
said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run
.exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth
be told however if someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other
miscellaneous tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in
when a user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a valuable
asset if you are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase Microsoft server which is the
Windows equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and valuable to any network that requires a server.
When it comes down to it both operating systems can do the same thing,

Music Education And Its Effect On Education
The German philosopher, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, referred to a life without music as a mistake (
Don t ). Unfortunately, many children never get the opportunity to discover the fulfillment that music
can bring to their lives. They are denied this chance by an unfair educational system. Music education
is beneficial to the student throughout his entire life, thus it should not be cast aside and neglected as it
often is in the public school system today, but instead schools should do just the opposite; treat music
education as a priority.
The evidence makes clear the benefits of playing a musical instrument on students abilities to perform
academically. For example, the Harmony Project is an after school program that provides music
lessons to children from underprivileged neighborhoods of California. Ninety three percent of seniors
in the program have graduated from high school in four years and gone on to college. This is truly
incredible when one considers that the communities where the program takes place have dropout rates
of over 50% (Turner). One explanation for this significant improvement is the direct impact playing
music has on the students brains. A study conducted by Nina Kraus, a neurobiologist at Northwestern
University, demonstrates this impact. By running tests on the program s members, Kraus data suggests
students who had studied music for two years were better at processing speech than those who had
been in the program for only one year (Turner).

The Pros And Cons Of President Donald Trump
How the biopsychosocial method can be used to influence people and is there a viable comparison to
President Donald Trump, and so consequently, could Donald Trump be mentally unfit for the office of
the presidency by virtue of lack of mental health, making him a possible danger to himself and us?
Okay, let s begin with an obvious reason why Donald Trump appealed to our brains...
Big companies spend millions on advertising because they know it takes a minimum of seven
encounters with a brand before a buying decision can be reached. The more we are exposed to a brand,
the more we like it. As brands are exposed to us more and more, the physiology of our brains is altered
in such a way that makes it easier for us accept and even prefer those brands next time we encounter
them. This is why that song we hated at first grows on us after it receives constant radio play. Trump is
a brand and The Donald is its celebrity spokesperson. After invading reality TV with The Apprentice,
he proceeded to take over the news media. Love him or hate him, everyone was talking about him at
every stage of the campaign process. He dominated the headlines for months. Hillary, although a
celebrity in her own right, still couldn t compete with the Donald Trump attention magnet media
phenomenon. Donald Trump as well reiterated in major swing states, If he doesn t win Florida, he can
t win the Presidency. And, No Republican candidate has ever gotten to the White House without
winning Ohio.

Covert Military Operations Essay
covert military operations, directed by Colonel Oliver North, a well decorated Vietnam War veteran.
North became somewhat of a problematic figure, often bragging of his close relationship to the
President, although office logs from the time show that Reagan never saw North alone, and spoke to
him only once on the telephone. However, Reagan s reasons for forging ahead in this situation, despite
congressional opposition, can best be explained by his remarks in the red tide television speech given
on March 16, 1986. Using Nicaragua as a base, the Soviets and Cubans can become the dominant 15

However, unauthorized steps were certainly taken, albeit by public officials with exemplary records,
who seemingly had noble and moral causes at heart. The Iran Contra affair taught lessons that were
later turned into policy by Reagan when he implemented the Tower Commission s recommendations.
In short, these suggestions stated that no covert operations be conducted out of the White House, that
secret operations involving great risk be reviewed frequently by the President and the National
Security Council, and that good faith be used in order to serve the national interest when differences
existed between the executive and legislative branches of government. Concerning the original Iran
Contra actions, there was never a definitive finding of illegality, despite the five year investigation of
Independent Council Lawrence Walsh and his team of prosecutors. Nicaragua regained democracy,
and Iran began negotiating with the U.S. government on a friendlier

Essay about Toll like receptors and their therapeutic...
Cellular Basis Of Disease: Why has the discovery of Toll like receptors revolutionised our
understanding of how the innate immune system works, and what is the therapeutic potential? The
body has two immune systems: the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. Adaptive,
or acquired, immunity refers to antigen specific defence mechanisms that take several days to become
protective and are designed to react with and remove a specific antigen. This is immunity develops
throughout life. Innate immunity refers to antigen nonspecific defence mechanisms that a host uses
immediately or within several hours after exposure to an antigen. This is the immunity that you are

PRRs recognise molecules that are not associated to human cells (PAMPs). The best characterised
signalling PRRs are the Toll like receptors (TLRs). They are present in plants, invertebrates and
vertebrates, and represent a primitive host defence mechanism against bacteria, fungi and viruses.
There are 13 TLRs that have been discovered in mammals so far, named TLR 1 to TLR 13. TLRs are
primary transmembrane proteins of immune cells, that contain leucine repeats in their extracellular
domains and a cytoplasmic tail that contains a conserved region called the Toll / IL1 receptor (TIR)
domain. The Toll gene was first discovered in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, but has close
homologues in mammalian immune cells. This is where the name Toll like receptor is derived.
Different combinations of TLRs appear in pairs in different cell types. Different TLRs bind directly or
indirectly to different microbial molecules. TLRs found on cell surfaces: a. TLR 1/TLR 2 pairs bind
uniquely bacterial lipopeptides and GPI anchored proteins in parasites b. TLR 2/TL6 pairs bind
lipoteichoic acid from gram positive cell walls and zymosan from fung c. TLR 4/TLR 4 pairs bind
lipopolysaccharide from gram negative cell walls; d. TLR 5 binds bacterial flagellin TLRs found in
the membranes of the endosomes used to degrade pathogens: a. TLR 3 binds double stranded viral
RNA b. TLR 7

Re: The Accounting Policies and Procedures
Purpose:
The purpose of the audit memo is to clarify the accounting policies and procedures used by clients and
the accounting policies and procedures that should be followed. The audit memorandum also provides
a clear explanation of a difference between the risk premium in discounting the free cash flow from
Plant 3 and the risk premium in discounting the cash flows for the Macinaw Division and which of the
appropriate discount rate for computation of goodwill impairment. The case mentioned about
impairments which will be written down after the assets are tested for impairments and how ... Show

An impairment loss is equal to the excess of the carrying amount over the fair value of the asset. Thus,
once it is determined that carrying value will not be recovered, an impairment loss must be recognized
. For purposes of testing for recoverability and measuring an impairment loss, individual long lived
assets should be grouped with other assets forming the lowest level for which identifiable cash flows
are largely independent of those of the entity s other assets. Note, though, that, if an impairment loss is
recognized, it should be applied only to the long lived assets in the group that are covered by FASB
ASC 360 10 ; thus, other assets in the group are not affected but should, if necessary, be adjusted for
impairment in accordance with other applicable GAAP. As defined in FASB ASC 350 10: Goodwill
should be part of an asset group to be tested for impairment only if the group is itself a reporting unit
or includes such a unit . Note that when we want to evaluate or compute the implied goodwill or test
goodwill impairment, we should include the combined net assets of Plant 3 which includes property,
plant and equipment. 8A Impairment or Disposal of Long Lived Assets (WG amp;L) provided relevant
parts that: impairment occurs when the carrying amount of asset is not recoverable and a write off is
needed . The section also mentioned about various events and changes in circumstances might lead to

Character Essay
Have you ever played basketball with your friends? Well for Jayson Barnes, basketball wasn t just a
game, it was a lifestyle. Jayson Barnes lost his mother at a young age. Ever since then, he has been
avoiding social services. Until one day, he gets caught stealing sneakers and his life is changed
forever. Jayson Barnes is starting point guard for his team, the Belmont Bobcats. He always wears
number 3 because it s the number of his all time favorite player, Chris Paul. Jayson is 5 6 and
lightning fast. If you take your eyes off of him for one second on the court, he will steal the ball and
score before you even know what happened. He usually wears white sneakers that he once tried to
steal but ended up paying for. Jayson is rather skinny because he can t afford much food, and as it said
in the book, he would have to make one large pizza last for days when he was living by himself. You
will never meet someone quite like Jayson Barnes. He is one of the most talented and competitive
people you will ever meet. Jayson is very hard working and strong willed. If he sets his mind to
something, he won t stop until it s done. However, Jayson is also very stubborn. He likes to shut

Can Money Buy Happiness Essay
Can money buy everything, including money?
Some people think that money can buy everything. Does that include happiness? Can money really
buy happiness? Different people have different opinion about this as well as the definition of
happiness that varies through people. According to the dictionary, happiness is the state of being
happy. Happiness is not just a state of mind but it is a state of emotion. Martin Seligman, the father of
positive psychology, theorises that while 60% of happiness is determined by our genetics and
environments, the remaining 40 % is up to us. Psychologists have researched that when you are happy,
certain hormones are release. The feelings we experience are nothing more than chemical reactions
taking place in our body. So do you think money can be used to make this reaction happen? Can
money really buy happiness? This world is full of wealthy people, such as the royal and billionaire.
The question is, are they always happy? We cannot deny the fact that money is needed in order for us

happiness. What really makes me happy is when I get to stay with my family and friends, this

that lingers for long time. In conclusion, happiness can happen in thousands of ways. It is just whether
you want happiness to last for a long time or just a short period. Think of what makes you happy., our
doubts about happiness cannot be answered abstractly. Not even the best theories can make you
happy; you have to test it yourself. However, to me, I don t think I can buy feelings and certainly
cannot force a chemical reaction to take place in my body. Neither can it force hormones of happiness

Compare And Contrast Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai and Claudette Colvin both grew up in very painful conditions. Although their
endings were very different, they both became better because of them. They also show us that the best
way to respond to conflict is to not back down even in extreme situations. These real people showed
us how they didn t back down and, eventually, with hard work and courage, they made the world a
better place.
Malala Yousafzai s story starts when she was around eleven years old. Education for girls and women
was always discouraged, but now the people of Pakistan were being punished for going to school.
Malala refused to back down and stop going to school, even though her entire community was being
terrorized. She started writing and speaking out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychologist s overview of what Malala can teach people about mental health, moral principles, and
self esteem is interesting because even though she has gone through so much he states, If there was a
Nobel Prize for Psychological Health, Malala Yousafzai would have won it too. Indeed, Malala is a
living testament to the incredible power of emotional resilience. He also states that Malala has
reframed the assassination attempt in her mind so she does not feel helpless and victimized but rather
purposeful and empowered. If they come to kill me I will tell them what they are trying to do is
wrong, that education is our basic right. Having purpose can help people recover from trauma and
become stronger psychologically than they were before, a phenomenon known as post traumatic
growth. Malala is an amazing example of someone who has thrived after trauma, primarily because of
the purpose and mission to which she has devoted her life. All of this traumas helped to shape Malala
into the person she is, and she won the Nobel Peace Prize because of

It imparts looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the occupation candidate before he/she makes a choice to acknowledge the occupation offer (Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete depiction of the employment (O Nell et al., 2001). It is normal that a great job practical sneak peak can help in lessening the turnover and the employing cost (O Nell et al., 2001). RJPs are proposed to give practical employment data. On the off chance that the data is excessively negative, then it would withhold the possibility to join the association (Quinetta, Collins, and Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and negative data, and the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). • 6. Deaf Culture And Interpreters History American Deaf Culture and Interpreters History Deaf culture in is one of America s many sub cultures, which means that it is a culture imbedded into the overall culture of the nation. What is unique about the deaf culture is that at times it is a sub culture of a sub culture, of a culture, for example the deaf community in Colorado is a sub culture of Colorado s culture, and Colorado culture is a sub culture of the American culture. It can get even more complicated than even that, because say there is an African American deaf culture in the deaf community that adds another deaf culture. It is also unique and set apart from other cultures because of the language barrier between the deaf community and the hearing community. Deaf culture has only recently been accepted by the general public, as well as they have not always had access to an interpreter. Deaf culture has changed drastically since before the 1960 s. In today s society deaf culture is not considered to be a population of animal like humans, but that was not the case before the 1960 s. In the past people who were deaf did not live normal lives, they were in a way the outcasts. If you were born deaf before the 1960 s there were not many options for the deaf, often times they were looked down upon and thought of as glorified animals. Because they were viewed as animals they were not accepted into the mainstream schools, even though there were a few institutes for the deaf, a lot of times families could not afford ... Chernobyl in 1986 and Fukushima in 2011 are a few radiation disasters that will be highlighted. Chernobyl could be argued as one of the worst incidents of radiation exposure to the general public. Aspects of this paper include background on accidents, the effects of the radiation exposure, and the impact of the population living within the areas. As well as the cost, not only economically but environmentally. Much can be learned from these incidents on a government and individual level. Governments need to understand the magnitude of such a disaster and how to help those affected most. While individuals should be more aware of the dangers of radiation exposure and how their living situations may put them at a higher risk. The public needs to be informed and educated on how accidents like these affect their lives. Chernobyl was the largest uncontrolled radioactive release ever recorded for any civilian operation. Chernobyl had four reactors, which were run on low power making them very unstable. There was a huge power surge which increased the heat in reactor number four. The increased heat set off a chain of events that couldn t be controlled. Pipes began to rupture as well making the prefect condition for two major explosions. Most other nuclear power plants have a containment enclosure, but Chernobyl did not. Since there was no enclosure this resulted in radioactive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Tyranny And The Social Wellbeing Of Citizens During the 19th century, in the age after the French Revolution, the vast majority of political and philosophical thinkers concerned themselves at some point with the issue of tyranny in society. Such writers spanned from Alexis de Tocqueville, to John Stuart Mill, to Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The interpretations and approaches taken to the subject of tyranny and how to protect against it, though, were as varied as the collection of authors who addressed it. From de Tocqueville s stringent observations in Democracy in America, the concept of a purely political tyranny is delineated. In contrast, Mill s essay On Liberty focuses on a particular strain of despotic oppression that threatens the social wellbeing of citizens. Yet another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, John Stuart Mill s essay On Liberty focuses almost entirely on Mill s idea of how forms of tyranny have evolved throughout history, and how the most pressing form is a new tyranny of the majority in which the force of the public opinion is used to silence individuals. Mill seeks to describe how in the past, protection against the tyranny of political rulers was necessary to ensure the liberty of individuals, but the problem now has evolved from tyrannical political leaders to an oppressive public that may desire to oppress a part of their number (Mill 7). Similar to Mill, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels make the subject of tyranny the focus of The Communist Manifesto; choosing to utilize the manifesto to dissect the tyrannical ways that the bourgeoisie operates in society. Written as an observation of the struggles of the working class stemming from the Industrial Revolution, The Communist Manifesto delineates how bourgeois society has established new classes, new conditions of oppression, [and] new forms of struggle for the working class proletariat (Marx Engels 3). As Marx and Engels were commissioned to draft the manifesto for the Communist League, it makes sense that the piece is intended to provoke the common citizen into recognizing their potential exploitation. • 11. The Importance Of Sex Education In America, Sex Education is put on the back burner when it comes to education, which is causing a rise in teen pregnancy rates and STI/HIV rates in the United states. A lot of the Sex Education in our country is based on fear and putting Sex and Sexuality as something that is not normal (Heather). Sex Education in America is very important to teach the youth; with help from teachers and parents can make the youth more aware about proper sex education and how to have safe sex, and learn healthy relationship normalities. There is a lot of controversy over teaching comprehensive sex education among people, some people believe that teaching comprehensive sex education causes rates of teen pregnancy and STI/Aids rates to go up. Just like we keep up with teaching the youth Math and Science, we also need to keep them up to date on issues like Sex Education. This is important so the youth can be aware of these things like STIs when they are adults and know how to protect themselves, and possibly others . There is no evidence that teaching kids to use condoms causes a spike in sexual activity ( Comprehensive ). In past surveys ninety percent of Americans over the age of eighteen felt sex education was very important to include in public school curriculum.Comprehensive Sex education has been proven statistically to be better than teaching abstinence only education. • 12. Boyz In The Hood Social Role Theory Boyz in the Hood starts off with the character Tre Styles as a young man who lives in South Central, Los Angeles with his mom Rita. The social work student viewed this beginning portion of the movie portraying his young life as a social worker. The social work student noticed that Tre lived with his mother in an apartment in a rough neighborhood. Tre went to school but had problems acting out and being the class clown. Tre and the friends he hung around here had foul language and used profanity as young kids. This is just one example of how Tre s surroundings influenced his life. According to Newman Newman (2014), the Social Role theory suggests that a person learns behaviors from observing in their environments. Young Tre Styles learned profanity from somewhere in his rough environment and this is a method of learning socially. Rita, his mother was working on her Master s degree and wanted better for Tre, so it is unlikely she promoted the use of profanity in her household. A contract between the two was drafter and Tre agreed with his mother that if he did not behave he would move in with his father. Rita stayed true to the contract they drafted and took Tre to live with his father Furious, so Tre could learn how to be a man. • 13. The Romantic Period Of Literature The Romantic Period of literature took place roughly 200 years ago, but examples of Romanticism can still be seen today. The Romantic authors most certainly had an impact on many artists to come. Edgar Allan Poe is often a name that comes to mind when discussing Romanticism and especially Dark Romanticism and for good reason. Poe exemplifies Romanticism and many examples can be seen in his work, such as the House of Usher. Some traits of Romanticism include high drama, pathetic fallacy, and shocking climax, which are a few pillars of the Romanticism style. These pillars still hold up in modern day art, with many filmmakers, such as M. Night Shyamalan who also exemplifies traits such as high drama, pathetic fallacy, and black and white characters. Edgar Allen Poe was an American author who wrote many short stories and poetry that has glorified him as a master of horror, suspense, psychological thriller, and romanticism. One of his works that embodies such pillars of Romanticism is the Fall of the House of Usher. In this story, Poe embraces pathetic fallacy from the very beginning. He talks about how gloomy and mysterious the house is which is also a house from his childhood. He sets the stage with the following quote: DURING the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of country ; and at length found myself, as the ... With the appearance of Waiting for Godot at the Théâtre de Babylone in Paris in 1953, the literary world was shaken by the arrival of a drama so different yet so thrilling that it gave rise to the Theater of the Absurd . His contribution to this particular type of theater movement allows us to refer to him as the father of the genre. While other dramatists, such as Tom Stoppard, have also contributed to this genre, Beckett remains its single, most lofty figure. It is this type of theater that deals with the absurd aspects of life, to stress upon its native meaninglessness. Even though there was a messenger boy through whom Godot apparently sent across messages to Estragon and Vladimir, they never seemed to receive it. In the first act, the messenger boy arrives to tell the two stranded men that Godot will not arrive that night but will surely be before them the next night. The play merely focuses on time and how Vladimir and Estragon wait for no apparent reason even though they know Godot isn t going to come. These meaningless arguments and waiting is all they are ever portrayed doing, repetitively contemplating leaving the place or leaving life for that matter hanging themselves on the tree and committing suicide. This makes it seem like as though the characters are stuck, and have no way out of the situation. Thoughts of leaving the place always get ignored as they once again go back to the beginning hoping that Godot will arrive. This is because they are afraid that something might go wrong if they stop this waiting which is indeed a significant, day to day component of human existence. Infections of the American Chestnut Tree Essay Cryphonectria parasitica, a filamentous, ascomycete fungus, is the causal agent of the chestnut blight5,14 which was introduced to North America from Japan circa 190412,14.The chestnut blight infects all members of the Castanea family14, and some members of the genus Quercus though C. parasitica infections are superficial14. A C. parasitica infection typically begins at a branch node or wound in the tree s bark 14. Once a spore has entered the tree, hyphal growth begins14. When the fungi s hyphae reach the cambium, the xylem and phloem are blocked, cutting off the transport of water and nutrients and a sunken canker is formed14. Eventually, the lack of water and nutrients kills the tree above the point of infection14. As a fungus, C. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One excellent use for blight resistant American chestnuts is reclaiming surface mines. Though other species of trees can survive in the harsh conditions typical of surface mines, they have little to no value as lumber and provide little for wildlife4. Chestnuts would also provide a fast growing lumber source, one that is lightweight, strong, and moderately rot resistant. Additionally, the large nut crops produced by the American chestnut would increase the ecosystems carrying capacity for wildlife, and moderate population fluctuations that follow mast (nut crop) fluctuations. For these and other reasons which space here does not permit, restoring the American chestnut is worthwhile endeavor. Although C. dentata is not resistant to an infection by the blight fungus, it is not entirely defenseless. One attempt at warding off C. parasitica is the growth of callus encircling the fungi s mycelium to prevent its spread (cite). This may or may not work, in either case the fungi will spread to another site on the tree via sporulation. A second barrier to blight infection is the chestnut s relatively high levels of tannic acid(s) in the cambium (cite). However, as will be discussed later, tannic acids may benefit the blight. The most promising method for increasing C. denata s blight resistance is The American Chestnut Foundation s breeding program. To give the chestnut the advantage in its battle with its evolutionary foe, it is necessary to study the factors that make C. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One side would be for the mine and say that the economic benefits would outweigh the negative effects on the environment, while the opposing side would say the opposite. To begin, those who are for mining would say that the Back Forty will have positive effects on the economy in places near it. A large number of Americans now believe that a political figure such as a president, senator, judge, etc. has a right to their own private life; and that immoral behavior does not reflect on how they govern or perform their job duties. President Clinton s approval rating did go down for a short time during the impeachment but it went up very quickly above 70 percent which indicates the public did not believe the scandal would impair President Clinton s abilities to govern. Well, he is just human and no one is perfect. President Clinton is certainly human and makes mistakes, just like all of us do. But he has this ability to reach out to the common man and woman. He is very likable and is probably one of the greatest speakers in America. When he was President of the United States he would be seen in the media doing everyday things like jogging around the neighborhood, eating at fast food restaurants such as McDonald s, appearing on talk shows, and playing the saxophone. He seems common enough; and these qualities make him more acceptable to the American voters. The people feel he is just like us, which is true as far as being a human. • 36. How Did The Right Of The Government Change The Power Of... The world is always changing, people, ideas, and new rules. The way people think and what they want in life change as they age and as new progress is made. Therefor, government should be changed when its ideals no longer aline with that of the peoples. The right of the government to rule over people should come from the people s approval. If people do not agree with their government they have the right to change their government. This right has changed history all over the world. Without this right the power of the government may be in the hands of a single ruler or monarch who has no interest in their people s wants or needs, and when this power falls into the wrong hands the people of a country have the right to take this power away and end the trynary in their country and give power to a more well suited government. ... The Declaration of Independence calls on this right when they broke away from England and formed their own government. England has also used the right to alter government when dethroning king Charles I during the English Civil War. Charles s belief of absolute power in a sole monarch was countered by Parliament, who won the war, wanting to rule over the English government. Giving Parliament the power to rule over the English government was a great change to how the country was ruled, and creating the Commonwealth of England. • 37. Essay On The Desert Storm The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991 (The Gulf War,1991) The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country of Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to withdraw from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands. Because he refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi takeover posed a threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United States. If Saudi Arabia took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one fifth of the world s oil supply. The Middle East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from President George H. W. Bush. When he found out his response was, This will not stand, meaning that Hussein taking over the Middle East s oil would not be tolerable (Operation Desert Storm). • 38. Windows versus Linux Windows, and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in multiple ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for it s time. People had been used to using command line interface to type out there commands. Windows 1.0 allowed for them to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linux a few years later. Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. Open source meant that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking. This has allowed multiple different versions of Linux to be produced since then including one called Lindows. There are many similarities between the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based on preference. A detailed evaluation will often reveal that Windows has more features, and is easier to sue than Linux. When I took a survey of my peers it revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I asked these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons. Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run .exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Truth be told however if someone was just going to browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other miscellaneous tasks there is no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in when a user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a valuable asset if you are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase Microsoft server which is the Windows equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and valuable to any network that requires a server. When it comes down to it both operating systems can do the same thing, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Music Education And Its Effect On Education The German philosopher, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, referred to a life without music as a mistake ( Don t ). Unfortunately, many children never get the opportunity to discover the fulfillment that music can bring to their lives. They are denied this chance by an unfair educational system. Music education is beneficial to the student throughout his entire life, thus it should not be cast aside and neglected as it often is in the public school system today, but instead schools should do just the opposite; treat music education as a priority. The evidence makes clear the benefits of playing a musical instrument on students abilities to perform academically. For example, the Harmony Project is an after school program that provides music lessons to children from underprivileged neighborhoods of California. Ninety three percent of seniors in the program have graduated from high school in four years and gone on to college. This is truly incredible when one considers that the communities where the program takes place have dropout rates of over 50% (Turner). One explanation for this significant improvement is the direct impact playing music has on the students brains. A study conducted by Nina Kraus, a neurobiologist at Northwestern University, demonstrates this impact. By running tests on the program s members, Kraus data suggests students who had studied music for two years were better at processing speech than those who had been in the program for only one year (Turner). ... The Pros And Cons Of President Donald Trump How the biopsychosocial method can be used to influence people and is there a viable comparison to President Donald Trump, and so consequently, could Donald Trump be mentally unfit for the office of the presidency by virtue of lack of mental health, making him a possible danger to himself and us? Okay, let s begin with an obvious reason why Donald Trump appealed to our brains... Big companies spend millions on advertising because they know it takes a minimum of seven encounters with a brand before a buying decision can be reached. The more we are exposed to a brand, the more we like it. As brands are exposed to us more and more, the physiology of our brains is altered in such a way that makes it easier for us accept and even prefer those brands next time we encounter them. This is why that song we hated at first grows on us after it receives constant radio play. Trump is a brand and The Donald is its celebrity spokesperson. After invading reality TV with The Apprentice, he proceeded to take over the news media. Love him or hate him, everyone was talking about him at every stage of the campaign process. He dominated the headlines for months. Hillary, although a celebrity in her own right, still couldn t compete with the Donald Trump attention magnet media phenomenon. PRRs recognise molecules that are not associated to human cells (PAMPs). The best characterised signalling PRRs are the Toll like receptors (TLRs). They are present in plants, invertebrates and vertebrates, and represent a primitive host defence mechanism against bacteria, fungi and viruses. There are 13 TLRs that have been discovered in mammals so far, named TLR 1 to TLR 13. TLRs are primary transmembrane proteins of immune cells, that contain leucine repeats in their extracellular domains and a cytoplasmic tail that contains a conserved region called the Toll / IL1 receptor (TIR) domain. The Toll gene was first discovered in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, but has close homologues in mammalian immune cells. This is where the name Toll like receptor is derived. Different combinations of TLRs appear in pairs in different cell types. Different TLRs bind directly or indirectly to different microbial molecules. TLRs found on cell surfaces: a. TLR 1/TLR 2 pairs bind uniquely bacterial lipopeptides and GPI anchored proteins in parasites b. TLR 2/TL6 pairs bind lipoteichoic acid from gram positive cell walls and zymosan from fung c.
