The For The Nation And Its People Through The Various...
Hosea still had hope for the nation and its people through the various counts of sin. Hosea once
again invited the Israelites to repent for their sins for restoration. God promised them healing and
blessing in return. He used agricultural terms to describe the future blessings and repentance of
Israel which gained their attention, since they had a religion dedicated to a godthat provided
agriculture fertility (Arnold and Beyer, pg. 434). God had redemptive plans for the unfaithful
people (2: 6 15).
God had three therefore clauses to win back His people. He chooses to act in grace, in preference
of anger. His first therefore is to frustrate Israel over Baal by degrading his power, as if he had
none, in hope of the people giving up on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are breaking their covenant with God by doing what was prohibited in the Ten
Commandments, which summarize the covenant requirements. The people curse (take God s name
in vain), lie, murder, steal, commit adultery, and break all the boundaries laid out to regulate their
covenant relationship with God (Smith, pp. 84). Hosea had preached that behavior reveals true
faith and love. He brought up the many different kinds of issues because he was attempting to teach
the people that faith and community actions are a mirror of each other (Smith, pp. 84).
The second part of the covenant lawsuits include a course of accusations of sinfulness (6:7
7:16), an explanation of the punishments the nation will endure (8:1 9:17), and a final message
of hope (11:1 11). He provides a broad framework of the punishments of the people who deceived
God by not maintaining their covenant with Him. The priests and political leaders are called
out for being big contributors to the broken covenants and destroyed the nation. They turn away
from God, and lead others to do so as well. There is a great deal of accusations Hosea strives to
expose towards these cruel and untrustworthy leaders . The great amount of sins creates the idea
that restoration is impossible. This discrepancy of faith leads to the violent imagery God has
provided which is full of judgment because that is what Israel has done to God. Those who reject
God and turn to dishonest and disloyal leaders will experience his

Kate Chopin s The Awakening
Commonly explored throughout her works, the idea of marriage inhibiting a woman s freedom is
the driving force behind Kate Chopin s contextual objections to propriety. In particular, The
Awakening and The Story of an Hour explore the lives of women seeking marital liberation and
individuality. Mrs. Chopin, who was raised in a matriarchal household, expresses her opposition to
the nineteenth century patriarchal society while using her personal experiences to exemplify her
feminist views. Katherine O Flaherty, later Kate Chopin, was born to Eliza and Thomas O Flaherty
in St. Louis, Missouri on February 8, 1850 (Deter). Unfortunately, when Mrs. Chopin was four, her
father died in a train incident leaving her under the care of three independent widows her mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother (Deter). Mrs. Chopin s great grandmother, Victoria Verdon
Charleville, directed her education, giving her a taste of the culture and freedom allowed by the
French that many Americans during this time disapproved of . . . through the art of storytelling
(Deter). Therefore, much of Mrs. Chopin s success in writing about women pursuing morality,
freedom, and political independence can be attributed to Victoria. Furthermore, the teachers at the
St. Louis Sacred Heart Academy, a school Mrs. Chopin s father had previously enrolled her in,
exposed her to Catholic teachings devoted to creating good wives and mothers, while also teaching
independent thinking ( Biography ).

Should People Be Allowed To Keep Pitbulls As Pets Essay
Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent, so they can provide services to people,
such as working with police officers at airports searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. Dogs
work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Many disabled people
live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are more
superior pets than any other pet. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets because there
is a lot of misunderstood information that people do not know about, and they are not aggressive,
and they are an excellent dog/ pet. Many people have wrong information about pit bulls. After
adopting a pit bullherself, Dickey was shocked to witness the negative responses her pet evoked
(Kirkus). These dogs are very smart, and most everybody does not realize that. They are very
easy to train and learn things quickly. Back in the day, pit bulls were used to help hunters hunt
and kill bears. They are very affectionate towards their owners. They like to remind you regularly
of how they feel towards and that means a lot of kisses and tail wagging.
Unless you raise them to fight, pit bulls are kind to the people they are comfortable around. They
are usually seen as killer fighting dogs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are strong territorial dogs, when around strangers they are very reserved, also a very
reliable guard dog. Pit bulls are the big dogs in the dog world and are very serious about their
guarding job. Even though it may take a strong adult to train and hold back on a leash they are
great with children. Early training is important to make sure everyone is safe around them. Pit Bull
Terriers are said by their owners to be a loyal companion dogs... obedient, loving and protective
(Morris 363). Even though they are protective, sometimes they can be a little too protective. When
they see their person in an abnormal situation they will do anything to protect

The Torah For Being The Judaism s Holy Book
Most know the Torah for being the Judaism s holy book, the first five books of the Bible, and the
laws. More advanced Jewish scholars may be familiar with the Talmud. But, few Jews learn the
Kabbalah teachings. Traditionally, adults of the age of forty would begin to start learning about
the Kabbalah and read from the Zohar (Slick). The Zohar from Hebrew directly translates to
splendor or radiance. The Zohar is one of the most important works of Kabbalahor Jewish
mysticism. It is a mystical commentary on the Torah, it was written in medieval Aramaic and
medieval Hebrew. It discusses of the nature of God, the origin and structure of the universe, the
nature of souls, sin, redemption, good, and evil. The Zohar is not one book, but a group... Show

This spark of curiosity drove me to uncover new things about Judaism that I had never encountered
before. This lead me straight the Kabbalah to learn about something not many people know
about. After preliminary online research, I started to realize that the Kabbalah had a somewhat
negative reputation, while in other write ups, the Kabbalah was perceived as unimportant. This
got me thinking as to how the Kabbalah got this skewed reputation and what it did, if anything
to deserve it? Also, why haven t I heard of this before if I ve been surrounded by Judaism for
most of my life? Is the Kabbalah some lost distant tradition? If so, why are there news stories of
major celebrities like Madonna practicing it? In my quest to quench my thirst my knowledge, I kept
my focus on investigating: what is the background and history of the Kabbalah that may have led it
to become so misunderstood?
Criterion B: Plan for Study
I plan to first delve into the heart of the Kabbalah teachings to get a strong base and an
understanding of the subject. Highly credible Jewish websites will guide my initial research and
help to slowly emerge me into learning the teachings. Next I plan to focus on Jewish academic
journals and scholarly information. In particular, Professor Gershom Scholem, he is an expert and
experienced writer on the subject and is well respected by Jews and non Jews alike. My research
journey will then take me to

How Did North s Government Have To Deal Between 1770 And...
There were three questions with which North s Government had to deal between 1770 and 1775.
The first has already been discussed in conВnection with Wilkes. The second was India, which for
the present we defer; and the third was the quarrel with the colonies. The Boston Tea Party The
partial repeal of the obnoxious taxes failed entirely to produce the effect intended. Rioting did not
cease, and the worst kind of agitators in America found u help to inflaming popular feeling in the
Boston massacre, an affray between the soldiers and the mob in which three of the latter were
killed and a half a dozen more were wounded. A Boston jury acquitted the soldiers of blame, but
when passions have been excited such occurrences acquire a fictitious colour and a fictitious
importance. Still, for some time the agitation only simmered; the colonials, for the most part,

Both men were honest supporters of the British government, and expressed their opinions with the
natural freedom of private letters. Those letters, by some means unknown, fell into the hands of
Benjamin Franklin, who was in London as agent for several of the colonies. In America the
publication infuriated the colonials against the writers of the letters, while in England it infuriated
most people against the men responsible for an entirely unjustifiable divulgence of a private
corresponВdence. A bitter attack was made upon Franklin, which he never forgave. Hitherto he had
at any rate believed in the possibility of an honourable adjustment; henceforth he was to be
numbered amongst the irreconcilables. The letter incident and the Boston tea party between them
had an exasperating effect, which perhaps destroyed the last chance of a peaceful

The Portrayal Of Archaeology In Indiana Jones Fox
Archaeology in the media is portrayed as very high risk and thrilling. Not to diminish the
excitement of archeology, but the portrayal of archeology in movies is extremely exaggerated and
far from accurate. In Indiana Jones Indy is often plagued by so many forces that try to set him
back from his archaeological goals. He faces looters, booby traps, destructive weather, etc...
Looters, while they are a very real problem and threat to the modern search for lost history are
depicted as bloodthirsty evil individuals on a self serving mission for power and wealth. I think
that we as a society can agree that looting is wrong and that it is a selfish practice that diminishes
the knowledge and value of our history as a whole. But looters are not usually what they are made
out to be in the film. More often than not, looters are underprivileged people that loot to support
their family. Many times they are misguided and/or ignorant to their actions consequences. They
are not getting rich from their finds, and are not innit to get wealthy and power. It is a sad cycle in
reality that often starts with young children. Many times groups of children would loot during the
day to pass time or make some money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film the archaeologists seem to just be running rampant. Everything is very fast paced and
thrilling; they are constantly involved in chases and fights through the local towns. In reality this is
rare if not non existent. Archaeologists are not only tasked with uncovering the past but
additionally must tread carefully around locals. They should disturb the community as little as
possible and often have positive interactions with them. A good example of this is how Dr. Morag
helped to educate children in the middle east about the consequences of looting ancient

Wang Yangming s Analysis
Wang Yangming says, When I see a child about to fall into a well [and have a feeling of
commiseration], there must be the principle of commiseration. Is this principle of commiseration
actually in the person of the child or is it in the innate knowledge of my mind? Perhaps one
cannot follow the child into the well [to rescue it]. Perhaps one can rescue it by seizing it with the
hand. All this involves principle. Is it in the person of the child or does it emanate from the innate
knowledge in my mind? What is true here is true of all things and event. From this we know the
mistake of separating the mind and principle into two. (Bary n.d., 849) [Chuanxilu, in Wang
Yangming quanshu (SBBY) 2:4b 5a WTC] This is a really important passage because... Show more

If the principle of filiality is to be sought in parents, then is it actually in my own mind or is it in
the person of my parents? If it is actually in the person of my parents, is it true that as soon as my
parents pass away the mind will then lack the principle of filiality? (Bary n.d., 849) This is Wang
Yangming s interpretation of Zhu Xi s investigation of things. I want to use this passage to again,
argue the principle in is oneself. If the principle was in the parents, then there would not be
ancestor worship. Ancestor worship is a part of filial piety so, the principle must be in oneself to
still show filiality after the parent s death.
The Colloquy at the TianQuan Bridge is a famous event where two students of Wang Yangming met
with him to debate. The two students were Ruzhong and Qian Dehong. The first to speak was
Ruzhong and he said, In the original substance of the mind there is no distinction of good and evil.
When the intentions become active, however, such a distinction exists. The function of innate
knowing is to know good and evil. The investigation [rectification] of things is to do good and
remove evil. (Bary n.d.,

Executive Summary
John Deere is an iconic one hundred and seventy seven year old company and maker of
agricultural machinery headquartered in Moline, Illinois. What started as a small business
operation has sprung into a multibillion dollar global operation. In 2013 alone, the company
boasted sales of $37.80 billion. Founded in 1837 by a blacksmith, the company originally only
built plows, and did not assemble their first tractor until they purchased a small tractor company,
Waterloo Boy, in 1918. Now the green and yellow machinery is recognized around the world.

The collapse in the housing market and a global recession dramatically reduced demand for
construction equipment. The current global economic state is slowly progressing, which is a
positive indicator for the industry. Increasing farm income over the next five years will most likely
boost demand for agricultural and turf machinery, but farmers will probably remain cautious with
their purchasing decisions. Therefore, domestic sales will continue to be static. However,
increasing demand in South America, China, India, and other global emerging markets is expected
to significantly boost international sales of all product lines over the next few years as population
and income growth in these emerging markets will drive this trend.

organizational strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats in the industry, we ve

Reach for the Stars; unless you re black
With the United States Army being one of the oldest organization in American, they have
undoubtable faced its share of diversity issue, they are an organization, with the need to operate
under the strictest hierarchical structure. This structure is imperative to their mission to serve and
protect the free people of this country and to uphold the Constitution that affords it. Alas, the
structure begs for internal oppression of minorities, due to the need and desire by its members to

And with rank brings freedoms, privileges, and above all power. The power to make a wide

The members of the Army are a direct reflection of the citizens they protect. Made up of all different

entirely different way of life within America. Although they are afforded the same fundamental
protections of the Constitution which they protect, they are also volunteering to relinquish some of
those rights. Members are governed my different laws, courts and at times different police; they are

The Depquisition Of Berendsen
1 Major way in which a company can grow.
The two major ways in which a company can grow are the organic growth or the inorganic growth.
Inorganic growth is a system of expanding the company by means of joining together with other
companies to form what one may call a conglomerate. Inorganic growth involves mergers and take
overs. A merger occurs when two firms come together or join together in order to share resources of
the two organisations. A merger helps enhance the two organisations which have joined to share
resources and management skills for the benefit of both organisations which now work under one

listeners. He found many ways to incorporate his life stories into his music that relates to every
other thug growing up in the streets from New York City to Los Angeles. The perfect example
of this is his double CD, Life after Death where most of his songs are about death and how
people deal with it. Its quite ironic how he sort of predicted his own death in the album but by

High School Orchestra Research Paper
Many don t realize that an orchestra is a team, a team is defined by Merriam Webster as a group
of people who work together. However, being apart of a team is much more important than that, it
is a group of people you rely on, that push you to do better. Being apart of a group can requires
you to do the same for others: be there for them, push them to be better. Orchestrais very similar to
a sports team, in that there is no real star of the show. Because, if one person messes up then they
affect everyone. When everyone works hard and plays well together it can be a great experience,
but when people don t try and lower the talent level of the group, it can be very frustrating.

How Did Jaycee Lee Dugard Changed Life
Jaycee Lee Dugard s Changed Life
Jaycee Lee Dugard was a nine year old girl who was kidnapped by a stranger at age eleven. Phillip
Garrido was the mans name. She was kept captive for eighteen years, kept in a backyard moving
from a barn, to a house, different rooms. Being so young and taken would be the worst, not getting
to be with her family. Phillip had a wife named Nancy, they treated Jaycee like their daughter.
Jaycee later on got pregnant two times. She now has two beautiful baby girls that are growing up
with her. While Jaycee was taken she has been thinking about her old family, if they still were

up to him and was relieved. All of them thought everything was ok. It was the same day Phillip
got released that his parole officer came back concerned that something was wrong. The officers
started looking into it way more and they found out that was Jaycee. After all that she has been
through she finally got the moment to speak to the police officers of what happened. Her mom
was waiting for her in another room while she was talking to the officers, Jaycee thought it was
weird that she didn t get to be with her mom right away. They said it was for precaution they

There are five basic types of martial arts. The five basic types are Dragon, Snake, Crane, Tiger,
and Leopard. Bodidharma, a monk from India, came up with the five styles of fighting. Shaolin
monks adopted these fighting styles to defend themselves from thieves. More than 1,000 years later
we now have the many different types of martial arts. The Leopard is one of the five basic fighting
styles. The Leopard is strong against the Dragon fighting style. It is weak against the Snake
fighting style. The leopard is an offensive animal, so it is based off an offensive attacking style.

The Tiger uses simple and direct approaches. It is of simple and direct strategies and tactics.
There is no need for complex stepping, diverse techniques, involved tactics, and no need for
blocking. The Tiger style relies on the user s size, attitude, strength, power and purpose. Its
techniques are powerful. Tiger style attacks directly at the most vulnerable and direct point of the
opponent which is the throat. If the throat is covered then the objective is to remove, and the
Tiger goes for the throat. With its size and strength a tiger cannot afford long fights as it will make
them vulnerable to lesser attackers. The Tiger operates with overwhelming power, determination,
and fearlessness. It is best for the muscular, strong, and large martial artist. The Tiger Stylist is an
aggressive, offensive, and sometime harsh fighter with the little grace, avoiding pinpoint strikes for
large, sweeping movements that act as both blocks and attacks in the one motion. The Tiger is a
personality that prefers action rather than words. They are leaders and prefer the front while others
are still thinking about the origin of the problem, Tiger stylists are already ready when others are
still researching, thinking or consulting on the matter at hand. The nature of Tiger is also not to
know when to give up. There are no opponents, only obstacles, no impossibilities, just other people

Technology Impact On Technology
In our world today, things are constantly being created and changed; whether it be laws, fashion,
food, etc., but the one thing that seems to change at a faster rate than the rest is technology.
Whether it be with machines, computers, or medicine, technology is always being improved, and
for most, it s now quite difficult to go a single day without using some type of technologybecause it
s become so widespread in our world. Difficulty to operate without technology is now also
becoming true for businesses. Whether it be local or international, businesses have begun to rely
more heavily on technology for purposes such as storing their files, making transactions, keeping

Today hackers currently have a large amount of American s personal information such as
birthdates, social security numbers, credit card numbers, addresses, etc. If a large company such
as Equifax is susceptible to cyber attacks, then it s safe to say that practically all businesses are
also taking a huge risk leaving their customer s private information in the hands of technology. A
common reason that businesses are using technology to store all of their files is because it s quick
and easily accessible for them and their customers, but as we ve seen in the Equifax case, putting
one s trust in the internet to keep our information safe in exchange for easier and quicker access
to information can prove to be unwise. Similarly, businesses are risking losing customers and
their business due to technical difficulties. Before technology, business owners still had to find a
way to run their business to keep their employees paid and their customers happy. But today,
utter chaos erupts in everyone s mind as soon as they hear those four words; our servers are
down . This is when it becomes clear that businesses are relying too much on technology because
in this moment they aren t able to do their jobs the convenient way, and for some, there is no
other way. In the case of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in February 2017, when their servers went

But in the 21st century, if we find more affordable and accessible ways of doing so, we should
embrace them rather than reject them (Susskind). In an interview with Therese Breza, a nurse in
the healthcare system, she countered with the belief that human interaction is a vital part of
healthcare, and that her patients and people she has worked with value such interactions.
However, with the increasing complexity of healthcare and possibility of unncessary or even
dangerous treatments, Susskind s countering that the most valuable part of professional
experience is the professional knowledge means that machines that are always learning from
each other and studies and effects of medicine on other medicines or humans shows that the
supposedly valuable part of healthcare can still be present in the form of being a sort of front
for a much more data heavy treatment plan managed by the most up to date and consistent
methods in medical science, and humans can carry out what is needed. While the incentive so
automate specialists such as surgeons is low, and not all doctors will go away, if a tablet has an
app that is as good as a doctor, the security of such a profession will fall dramatically. There is an
opinion that just as the mechanization of manual labor led to people moving into more intellectual
jobs, that then the automation of intellectual jobs will free up people to work on creative pursuits.

Colonization Of Native American Education
Colonization was detrimental to not only the physical bodies of the Native Americans, but to their
minds as well. The shift in indigenous education was a destructive one; Western education
completely overtook the indigenous education that had thrived for generations. Instead of allowing
education to benefit both indigenous and European peoples, it was used as a tool to destroy
indigenous culture. When the settlers from Europe and Spain first came to the Americas,
indigenous men and women articulated their petitions for more educational spaces (DГaz 60). The
attempt to share educational spaces was continuously rejected by the settlers in an attempt to spur
assimilation instead of cooperation. Educational spaces were slowly transitioning to becoming...

Europeans had different ideologies than indigenous peoples when it came to land in terms of
who could own the land. As a result of European entitlement, they assumed that the land was
available to be taken. The process of removing indigenous people from their land began, and the
settlers were justifying it by suggesting that is was not necessarily stealing land, but rather it was
saving the land from being misused by the savages that lived there previously (Sahlins 19).
Mindsets such as these finalized the traumatic process of Native American invisibility as they were
forced out of their land and their homes. As a direct result of the stealing of indigenous land,
racism began to influence other decisions that the colonizers were making. The settlers began to
spread the idea that they were more intelligent and more capable of building a society than the
Native Americans were. This mindset and many others were used to justify things such as stealing
the land from ocean to ocean, as well as disrespecting many treaties and even slaughtering Native
Americans to make them move off of their land (Finzsch

Diffusion Osmosis Lab
Introduction
This lab module focused on several experiments which involved passive and active processes, cell
division, and rat dissection.
Passive processes are those that do not require the use of any cellular energy in order to move
substances across the plasma membrane of a cell, because they are moving from an area of higher
solute concentration to lower solute concentration using only their own inherent kinetic energy. The
passive processes were demonstrated through experiments of diffusion, osmosis (and its possible
effects, hemolysis or crenation), filtration and dialysis. All of these experiments involve the use of
a material that is acting like and can be compared to the selectively permeable membrane of a
living cell.

The hypothesis for this experiment is that the solid substance will diffuse more rapidly in a
liquid medium than will the solid substance in a solid medium. This hypothesis was formed on
the basis of preexisting knowledge that the particles of solids are more densely and tightly
packed together, and they do not flow or move apart easily. Liquids, on the other hand, are less
tightly packed together and flow very easily. For this reason, I would speculate that it will be easier
for a solid to dissolve or diffuse in a liquid than in a

Black Theater By William Henry Brown
1.)During 1821 and 1926 Black Theater is determined in two different definitions. The first
definition for Black Theater came about in 1821, and in Manhattan by the American Grove Theater
founded by William Henry Brown. The definition for black theater was created by African
Americans, for African American audience and about topics that are important to the African
Americancommunity. At this point in time, African Americans were enslaved throughout America.
African Americans did not have much rights, so the definition created by African Americans was
significant to show that they have a voice too, for African American audience and about topics that
are important to the African American community can be depicted so that African Americans could
rise up and overcome the Slavery system. This definition could have been geared towards African
Americans being hopeful or having something to be happy about. Most significantly, for all African
Americans coming together to see these playwrights would educate black peopleand hopefully
inspire them to create better lives for themselves together. Slavery and racial discrimination towards
blacks has to be the most that contributed to this definition.
The other definition was created in 1926 by W.E.B Du Bois through the Krigwa players in Harlem.
This definition for black theater was for, by, about, near us. The Harlem RenaissanceMovement is

Diligence should be placed on the delicate and fragile similarities of physical, social, and
psychological disorder or dysfunction throughout segment of each generation. For the most part,
health alter how human experiences are framed by the interlocking nature of individual trajectories
and kinship networks in the context of temporal motion, culture, and social change (McGoldrick,
Preto, Carter, 2016, p. 1).
Looking at family structure, early generations raised their children with stay at home mothers,
working fathers, and neighbors as extended family. The middle generations have the complexity of
expanding their immediate family, managing elderly care, and later down the line supporting their
older children and their extended families. The younger generations are consumed with self
insecurity with the need to feel wanted.
Although throughout life transitions boundaries change, family relationship become strained, and
roles within family dynamics are constantly being altered and redefined. Family dynamic does not
consist of mother, father, and biological child or children. People are no longer calling or
identifying their family as biological connection, but individuals they form a connecting bond with
that are not genetically connected. In other word, there are major diverse integral role in marriages,
immediate and extended families.

Effects Of The Berlin Airlift
The Berlin Airlift and its Strategic Effects
Despite its beginnings as a logistical nightmare for the aircrews and aviators, the Berlin Airlift was
extremely effective in the role of containing the spread of communism into Berlin, while ensuring
the survival of capitalism for millions of its citizens.
After the conclusion of World War II, the city of Berlinwas divided into two major sections: East
and West Berlin. The western section was divided between the three allies and under the control of
Britain, the United States, and France, while the eastern portion was under the Soviet s control.
The portion of Berlin owned by the western powers had become a small hold on capitalism in a
sea of Marxist communism. On 24 June 1948, the Soviet Union cut off all ground routes into the
western portion of Berlin. This would leave approximately 2.5 million Berlin citizens without the
United States supplies they had been receiving. It would also leave the roughly 6,500 western
troops without ground level support, surrounded by 16,000 soviets (Owens 70).
The United States had only a few options and they were not looking great. They could attempt to
resolve this diplomatically, but that could take more time than was available. A military pullout
from Berlin could lead to discredit the United States and leave Berlin to fall completely under
Soviet control (Owens 70). The United States military governor of Berlin at the time was General
Lucas Clay. General Clay was told that going by

Bennet cares for her children deeply and worries about their futures constantly. She is also
consistently laughed at and criticized by members of her family and community. Mrs. Bennet s
daily trials and stresses have caused her to become a frail, nervous and laughable character.
Frequently throughout the novel , Mrs. Bennet expresses her stresses to her family: You delight in

by her husband s trying sarcasm and wit, or by the fate of her daughters. Because the majority of

accentuate the weakness that was attributed to women and mothers in the eighteenth century.
Additionally, the suppressive role as mother and wife which Mrs. Bennet is placed into is the

Performance Support Systems
Abstract
The purpose of my paper is to discuss Performance Support Systems, the reason why some people

Performance Support Systems Defined
Electronic Performance Support Systems otherwise known as EPSS were born in the early 1990s
by Gloria Gery, who was described as an educational software guru by Phillip Longman in his
journal article, The Janitor Stole My Job. A distinguishing feature of EPSS is its ability to automate

However, the bulk of the controversy lies with people s fears regarding the influence of
Performance Support Systems in the workplace. I found references to this concern throughout all of
the research that I did for this paper.
Fears, Concerns Surrounding PSS
One concern that keeps appearing in discussion circles is that people are feeling threatened by
Performance Support Systems, but why? Well, when one considers that EPSS programs can
provide knowledge with the mere touch of a button that would take the rest of us many years to
acquire, this reality can have a humbling effect on the ego.
So are these fears legitimate or is this just a case of slighted ego? Actually, there is some basis
for concern regarding the PSS trend in relation to job security. And there are comments that
reinforce this feeling such as the one given by Betty Mackey, director of customer service training.
In Longman s article she said that at the present time there are no plans to lay off college graduates
or to lower salaries; however, she did not rule out that possibility in the future. She said that the
company may lower education requirements and perhaps even recruit people who are currently
working behind the counters at fast food restaurants due to the influence of PSS.
Downsizing is another very real possibility. One of the reasons Dr. Harmon gave for why
companies might want to build a PSS is downsizing. He made the point that when

Irony In The Most Dangerous Game
Irony and imagery are both important writing tools, used to guide the reader through the story while
keeping them engaged and thinking about the story complexly. When used together successfully,
the reader can walk away with something to think about, a new perspective on something they
might have thought different about before. When considering this, I would argue that The Most
Dangerous Game, is overall a better story than The Necklace .
In both stories, irony is used to to teach a lesson. In Richard Cowell s The Most Dangerous Game,
he tells a story of a hunter who is put into the place of the hunted. At the beginning of the story the
protagonist, Reinsford, boasts about the extravagant nature of hunting for sport. The best sport in

By the end Reinsford feels sympathy for the hunted, being able to relate to the animals directly.
The irony used in this story is easily relatable to the reader, everyone at one point in time has had
some sort of drastic change in opinion. Whether it is about something as relative as the quality of
a story, or something considerably more important, like what makes something s life important,
we have all had that feeling. On the other hand, we have The Necklace, by Guy De Maupassant.
Maupassant s use of irony is less relatable and more comedic. He does this very well, oh my poor
Mathilde, but mine was only paste! (Maupassant, 1884, p. 208) A punch line of sorts, a funny
ending to a unfunny story. It is unexpected, and gets the reader to remember what has happened

Performance Management
Performance management is an ongoing, continuous process of communicating and clarifying job
responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations in order to ensure mutual understanding
between supervisor and employee. It is a philosophy which values and encourages employee s
development through a style of management which provides frequent feedback and fosters
teamwork. It emphasizes communication and focuses on adding value to the organization by
promoting improved job performance and encouraging skill development. Performance
Management involves clarifying the job duties, defining performance standards, and documenting,
evaluating and discussing performance with each employee.
Performance Management reminds us that being busy is not the same as producing results. It
reminds us that training, strong commitment and lots of hard works alone are not result. The major
contribution of performance management is its focus on achieving results useful products and

it the way West Eggers do. Like the West Eggers, East Eggers have not obtained the American
Dream either. Tom is rich and has a beautiful wife and on the outside it looks like he has the
perfect life. The only problem is that he cheats on his wife with a woman that lives between East
Egg and West Egg, Myrtle Wilson. Myrtle s husband loves her, but she is a money chaser. She
says, I thought he was a gentleman . . . but he wasn t fit to lick my shoe . . . he borrowed
somebody s best suit to get married in . . . (Fitzgerald 39) She couldn t appreciate the fact that her

The Game Of Pokemon Go On The Privacy Of Your Own Home
Imagine small third party companies watching every step you take and viewing your actions
through your own cellphone camera that s looking right at you. Watching you walk the dog, or
drive in the car, or lounge around in the privacy of your own home. Here s the catch, these party
companies are making money off of you when your phone is in use, without your realization.
These exploits are happening as the days go by, and no one seems to shine light on this subject.
The main issue here is big companies, such as Google, are giving people free apps to download
and making money. They do this not only by customers making in app purchases, but for selling
your personal information to third party companies who then make revenue by putting it on the
stock market. I would like to acknowledge that the Government needs to illuminate these exploits
these companies are constructing, other than playing along with them, as they are edging into
violating our privacy as U.S. citizens. The newly released hit game Pokemon Go has sparked
some light in the souls of many people from the 90 s. All the nostalgic feelings of walking and
catching your favorite Pokemon, fighting them, evolving them, and playing with friends. Aside
from all the great things about this game, it may have a darker side that people do not really
understand. Behind Pokemon GO is man named John Hanke. Hanke is a serial entrepreneur, a
serial entrepreneur as defined by Business Dictionary is: an entrepreneur who

competitive advantage Essay examples
INTRODUCTION Competitive advantage(CA) is an advantage competitors gain by providing or
offering customers or consumers greater value for their money through product and service
differentiation or through lower prices. Maintaining competitive advantage is crucial to many
businesses or organizations success in order to survive in the market. Competitive advantage is
characterized by superior performance which could be an attribute to outperform the competitors
whether current or potential; or gaining a higher market share in a particular industry thereby
ensuring market leadership; or ultimately, maximization of profit.(JOBBER 2010) This essay will

It is a no frill carrier. They were able to cut cost by operating a no frill carrier i.e. they don t use

cost leadership strategies i.e. difference or cost leadership within a small target market segment.
For instance: a company should be able to differentiate its products based on a particular target
market segment because if the differences in products does not appeal to consumers in that target
market as opposed to consumers in broad market, there would be no basis for differentiation and
competitive advantage will not have been achieved. Selecting the Right Competitive Strategy There
are two schools of thought pertaining to how firms should choose the competitive strategy that best
suits them. One is of the opinion that firms should choose one of the generic strategies and
commit all resources to making it work. Porter belongs to this category. They believe that the value
chain necessary for cost leadership is quite different from that of differentiation strategy and that
while differentiation deals with better quality, cost leadership deals with lowering costs wherever
possible.(DESS and DAVIES 1984) What porter articulated here is that there is need for strategic
clarity. The 2nd school of thought opines that the strategies may be combined together to achieve

Symphony amp; Utah Opera Proposed Merger Analysis Utah Symphony amp; Utah Opera
Proposed Merger Analysis In 2002, a proposal was made to merge the Utah Symphony and Utah
Opera due to the failing economy, collapsing of the stock market, declining government financial
support, and a waning of donations for the arts. The proposed merger would help both
organizations by economizing on costs and expanding the artistic potential of both organizations.
Each of the organizations need to support the decision in order for the merger to be successful.

Scott Parker can utilize Adam s equity theory to persuade Mrs. Abravanel to support the merger.
The equity theory in essence is when individuals seek to maintain equity based on the inputs
they produce and the outcomes they receive from their inputs as compared to others perceived
inputs and outcomes. A balance between inputs and outputs is strived for because it leads to
fairness and improved relations. Mrs. Abravanel s opposition to the merger could be because of
a perceived unfairness based on the efforts her husband put into to bringing the Utah Symphony
up to world class stature. Mrs. Abravanel sees the symphony as the dominant party in the merger.
This is apparent by Mrs. Abravanel s statement, Maurice would never take second billing to
anyone (Delong amp; Ager, 2005). Parker must show Mrs. Abravanel that the merger will help
alleviate some of the financial stress the symphony is facing and increase the success and
visibility of both organizations. In order to convince Mrs. Abravanel to support the merger,
Parker needs to explain the rationale behind the merger as well as understand why Mrs.
Abravanel sees the merger as unfair and inequitable. In order to sway Mrs. Abravanel to support
the merger, Parker can offer Mrs. Abravanel a seat to participate in the merger discussions. Mrs.
Abravanel s perceived unfairness would be assuaged by giving her a voice in the discussions

Who Is Hassan A Foil In The Kite Runner
There is no good if there is no bad, a recurring motif throughout many fiction novels. This novel
was narrated by Amir, the protagonist, but was named in honor of Hassan, a secondary character,
who was the kite runner . The Kite Runner introduces an inspiring character like Hassan, he is one
of the bravest characters, the heart of Afghanistan, and is one of the most complex characters, but
has an instinctual nature which makes him a simple character to understand. Hassan s purpose in
the novel is to be the foil of Amir. Initially, the story came to be when Hosseini thought of giving
Hassan an alter ego, and contrasting it to Hassan s purity and benevolence. Whereas Hassan knows
exactly what he wants in life, the alter ego is troubled and wrenched with insecurities... Show more

Hassan had it tougher than Amir at the very beginning, he was born into a difficult life by being
raised by a Hazara servant. Which as a result, he learns that it is his duty to sacrifice himself for
others. For instance, he wakes up every morning to get Amir ready for school while he is held
back doing housework, and even tells Amir he is happy with what he has, although he clearly
sees what he lacks himself. On other several different accounts he was taking advantage of his
selflessness from being raped for the sake of keeping Amir s winning kite in tack, which he
knew meant a great deal to him. Yardley reviews Hosseini s second book where it is about the
story of these two women, which reaches its climax in an act of extraordinary generosity and
self sacrifice (3) Hosseini adopted the theme of sacrifice in both of his novels, where a character
voluntarily sacrifices something so dear to them, in Hassan s cases his innocence. By Hassan
having the crucial trait of being selfless, it is the motor to all the event that foreshadow. Perhaps if
Hassan was not as selfless, Amir and Assef would have not taken advantage of

Essay On Whole Genome Sequencing
2.0 Materials and Methods
Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is one of the current methods used to obtain the entire genetic
composition of a particular patient. Once the sequence of DNA has been obtained the information
within the patient s genome is compared to a reference genome so that potentially pathogenic
mutations can be identified. Regions of DNA that are of interest are validated following the
procedure outlined below.
Primer design
Specific DNA loci were obtained from analysts in the form of Excel spreadsheets. These
coordinates were visualized using the genome browser build 19 on the UCSC website. The DNA
sequence that was taken was approximately 900 bp on either end of the region which was to be
amplified. The DNA sequence which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This extension period was set for 7 minutes. 35 cycles were run when amplifying particular regions
of DNA obtained from probands and their respective families. Note primers were tested with
controls using the hotstart PCR conditions before primers were run with the patient s DNA.
Visualizing PCR product
Agarose gels were run to determine whether amplification of the targeted region of DNA was
successful. 1% gels were made using 50mL of 1X TAE buffer and 0.5g of agarose. 2.5mL of
Ecosafe dye was added to the gel before mixing and then cooling in a gel rig. 1.0mL of loading dye
was mixed with 4.0mL of DNA from PCR tubes. DNA samples were then loaded in their respective
wells along with 5mL of 1kb ladder to approximate band sizes during visualization of the gel.
Gels were visualized using UV light set at a wavelength of 302nm. Each gel was exposed to UV
light for 10 seconds before the image was captured with an Azure gel imaging system.
Purification
PCR tubes were ready for purification when a single DNA band was present per lane on the
agarose gel. If multiple bands were obtained in a single lane the PCR process and gel visualization
process was repeated however, the denaturation temperature was run at a higher temperature to
prevent non specific binding of the primers to the DNA template. The purification process used an
Invitrogen PCR clean up kit. 5mL of charge switch beads

Dopamine Hypothesis And Anti-Psychotic Analysis
In regard to proposals put forth to explain what dysfunctional mechanisms are causing
schizophrenia, the dopamine hypothesis has been one of the most prevailing. The earliest versions
of this hypothesis proposed that dopamine producing neurons in the brain were hyperactive
(Haracz, 1982). An updated hypothesis, version II, described which specific areas were producing
too much dopamine(Davis, 1991). Since that publication, thousands of other ideas have been put
forth to test the dopamine hypothesis. Advancements in neuroimaging techniques have created a
pool of information ripe for another iteration of the hypothesis. The first dopamine hypothesis was

Britain has experienced a series of affordable housing crisis in the early 1980s and early 1990s
(Bramley, 1994). As Andrew Stonell (2010) stated Localism works all over the country there are
villages very keen to have low cost housing for local people and they are prevented by the
planning system from having it. This briefing paper refutes Stonell s claim and is written to the
North Eastern Farming and Rural Advisory Network, which is one of new Rural and Farming

Instead of Right to buy regulation, affordable rented housing will be provided to tenants with a
maximum of 80% of the total market rent, and available on both fixed term and regular lease
(PPS3, 2011). Affordable rent houses will be let by registered providers and the increase of low
cost rent houses would provide decent homes to low income residents and rural people from other
villages. To meet the demand of sustainable development in rural areas, PPS7 required government
should follow the planning objectives and regulations set out in PPG3, and the purpose is to
provide rural people a decent home. It also indicated that housing requirements and assessment of
local affordable housing need should be recognized by local planning authorities. Make sufficient
land available and strictly control new house building will promote the construction of low cost
houses and make good use of the land.
Milbourne (2008) also highlighted that tracing the cooperation with new partnership will lead a
wider series of agencies to afford suitable housing in the countryside. PPS3 (2006) indicated that
local authorities are not supposed to formulate affordable housing providers in planning conditions
and obligations, a discussion will be needed on how to provide affordable housing and long term
arrangement. This planning system will control the housing prices and conditions, in order to
prevent the malpractice in

Comparing Jackson Pollock And Chuck Close
This essay will compare and contrast the work of Jackson Pollock and Chuck Close, specifically
the Abstract Expressionist Number 1A of 1948 and the photorealist Self Portrait of 1991. I will
explore the similarities in the process of these two artists, despite their end result appearing to be
poles apart. Both artists are and were as obsessed with the process of making art as much as with
the outcome. Close and Pollock both employed highly inventive techniques and cultivated a
signature style that is instantly recognizable. Number 1A is an early realization of Pollock s
distinctive approach to dripping paint directly onto the canvas. This technique quickly became a
statement on the aesthetic and psychological power of large scale abstract painting. At five feet and

The energy of the painting is overwhelming. It is an intricate web of oil colors with black
enamel. The piece is mainly comprised of black and white, but as one tries to look into the
painting subtle red pink and light blue can be found. The many layers of overlapping webs of
black and white seem to be a sort of veil for whatever lies underneath. Making it challenging to
interpret and look into the piece. No place for the eye to settle and rest. There are no figures
hidden within the drips. No hint of a representational image. At first there is a sense or reckless
abandon and a wild application of paint. After closer examining it is clear Pollock s strokes are
controlled, swift, assured, almost mechanical. You can trace the movements of his arm as the drips
of paint fell from sticks and paint brushes. Ranging from puddles where paint gathered and then

  • 2. The For The Nation And Its People Through The Various... Hosea still had hope for the nation and its people through the various counts of sin. Hosea once again invited the Israelites to repent for their sins for restoration. God promised them healing and blessing in return. He used agricultural terms to describe the future blessings and repentance of Israel which gained their attention, since they had a religion dedicated to a godthat provided agriculture fertility (Arnold and Beyer, pg. 434). God had redemptive plans for the unfaithful people (2: 6 15). God had three therefore clauses to win back His people. He chooses to act in grace, in preference of anger. His first therefore is to frustrate Israel over Baal by degrading his power, as if he had none, in hope of the people giving up on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are breaking their covenant with God by doing what was prohibited in the Ten Commandments, which summarize the covenant requirements. The people curse (take God s name in vain), lie, murder, steal, commit adultery, and break all the boundaries laid out to regulate their covenant relationship with God (Smith, pp. 84). Hosea had preached that behavior reveals true faith and love. He brought up the many different kinds of issues because he was attempting to teach the people that faith and community actions are a mirror of each other (Smith, pp. 84). The second part of the covenant lawsuits include a course of accusations of sinfulness (6:7 7:16), an explanation of the punishments the nation will endure (8:1 9:17), and a final message of hope (11:1 11). He provides a broad framework of the punishments of the people who deceived God by not maintaining their covenant with Him. The priests and political leaders are called out for being big contributors to the broken covenants and destroyed the nation. They turn away from God, and lead others to do so as well. There is a great deal of accusations Hosea strives to expose towards these cruel and untrustworthy leaders . The great amount of sins creates the idea that restoration is impossible. This discrepancy of faith leads to the violent imagery God has provided which is full of judgment because that is what Israel has done to God. Those who reject God and turn to dishonest and disloyal leaders will experience his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kate Chopin s The Awakening Commonly explored throughout her works, the idea of marriage inhibiting a woman s freedom is the driving force behind Kate Chopin s contextual objections to propriety. In particular, The Awakening and The Story of an Hour explore the lives of women seeking marital liberation and individuality. Mrs. Chopin, who was raised in a matriarchal household, expresses her opposition to the nineteenth century patriarchal society while using her personal experiences to exemplify her feminist views. Katherine O Flaherty, later Kate Chopin, was born to Eliza and Thomas O Flaherty in St. Louis, Missouri on February 8, 1850 (Deter). Unfortunately, when Mrs. Chopin was four, her father died in a train incident leaving her under the care of three independent widows her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (Deter). Mrs. Chopin s great grandmother, Victoria Verdon Charleville, directed her education, giving her a taste of the culture and freedom allowed by the French that many Americans during this time disapproved of . . . through the art of storytelling (Deter). Therefore, much of Mrs. Chopin s success in writing about women pursuing morality, freedom, and political independence can be attributed to Victoria. Furthermore, the teachers at the St. Louis Sacred Heart Academy, a school Mrs. Chopin s father had previously enrolled her in, exposed her to Catholic teachings devoted to creating good wives and mothers, while also teaching independent thinking ( Biography ). ... • 4. Should People Be Allowed To Keep Pitbulls As Pets Essay Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent, so they can provide services to people, such as working with police officers at airports searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. Dogs work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Many disabled people live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are more superior pets than any other pet. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets because there is a lot of misunderstood information that people do not know about, and they are not aggressive, and they are an excellent dog/ pet. Many people have wrong information about pit bulls. After adopting a pit bullherself, Dickey was shocked to witness the negative responses her pet evoked (Kirkus). These dogs are very smart, and most everybody does not realize that. They are very easy to train and learn things quickly. Back in the day, pit bulls were used to help hunters hunt and kill bears. They are very affectionate towards their owners. They like to remind you regularly of how they feel towards and that means a lot of kisses and tail wagging. Unless you raise them to fight, pit bulls are kind to the people they are comfortable around. They are usually seen as killer fighting dogs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early training is important to make sure everyone is safe around them. Pit Bull Terriers are said by their owners to be a loyal companion dogs... obedient, loving and protective (Morris 363). • 5. The Torah For Being The Judaism s Holy Book Most know the Torah for being the Judaism s holy book, the first five books of the Bible, and the laws. More advanced Jewish scholars may be familiar with the Talmud. But, few Jews learn the Kabbalah teachings. Traditionally, adults of the age of forty would begin to start learning about the Kabbalah and read from the Zohar (Slick). The Zohar from Hebrew directly translates to splendor or radiance. The Zohar is one of the most important works of Kabbalahor Jewish mysticism. It is a mystical commentary on the Torah, it was written in medieval Aramaic and medieval Hebrew. It discusses of the nature of God, the origin and structure of the universe, the nature of souls, sin, redemption, good, and evil. The Zohar is not one book, but a group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This spark of curiosity drove me to uncover new things about Judaism that I had never encountered before. This lead me straight the Kabbalah to learn about something not many people know about. After preliminary online research, I started to realize that the Kabbalah had a somewhat negative reputation, while in other write ups, the Kabbalah was perceived as unimportant. This got me thinking as to how the Kabbalah got this skewed reputation and what it did, if anything to deserve it? Also, why haven t I heard of this before if I ve been surrounded by Judaism for most of my life? Is the Kabbalah some lost distant tradition? If so, why are there news stories of major celebrities like Madonna practicing it? In my quest to quench my thirst my knowledge, I kept my focus on investigating: what is the background and history of the Kabbalah that may have led it to become so misunderstood? Criterion B: Plan for Study I plan to first delve into the heart of the Kabbalah teachings to get a strong base and an understanding of the subject. Highly credible Jewish websites will guide my initial research and help to slowly emerge me into learning the teachings. Next I plan to focus on Jewish academic journals and scholarly information. In particular, Professor Gershom Scholem, he is an expert and experienced writer on the subject and is well respected by Jews and non Jews alike. My research journey will then take me to ... The first has already been discussed in conВnection with Wilkes. The second was India, which for the present we defer; and the third was the quarrel with the colonies. The Boston Tea Party The partial repeal of the obnoxious taxes failed entirely to produce the effect intended. Rioting did not cease, and the worst kind of agitators in America found u help to inflaming popular feeling in the Boston massacre, an affray between the soldiers and the mob in which three of the latter were killed and a half a dozen more were wounded. A Boston jury acquitted the soldiers of blame, but when passions have been excited such occurrences acquire a fictitious colour and a fictitious importance. • 7. The Portrayal Of Archaeology In Indiana Jones Fox Archaeology in the media is portrayed as very high risk and thrilling. Not to diminish the excitement of archeology, but the portrayal of archeology in movies is extremely exaggerated and far from accurate. In Indiana Jones Indy is often plagued by so many forces that try to set him back from his archaeological goals. He faces looters, booby traps, destructive weather, etc... Looters, while they are a very real problem and threat to the modern search for lost history are depicted as bloodthirsty evil individuals on a self serving mission for power and wealth. I think that we as a society can agree that looting is wrong and that it is a selfish practice that diminishes the knowledge and value of our history as a whole. But looters are not usually what they are made out to be in the film. More often than not, looters are underprivileged people that loot to support their family. Many times they are misguided and/or ignorant to their actions consequences. They are not getting rich from their finds, and are not innit to get wealthy and power. It is a sad cycle in reality that often starts with young children. Many times groups of children would loot during the day to pass time or make some money, ... They should disturb the community as little as possible and often have positive interactions with them. • 9. Wang Yangming s Analysis Wang Yangming says, When I see a child about to fall into a well [and have a feeling of commiseration], there must be the principle of commiseration. Is this principle of commiseration actually in the person of the child or is it in the innate knowledge of my mind? Perhaps one cannot follow the child into the well [to rescue it]. Perhaps one can rescue it by seizing it with the hand. All this involves principle. Is it in the person of the child or does it emanate from the innate knowledge in my mind? What is true here is true of all things and event. From this we know the mistake of separating the mind and principle into two. If it is actually in the person of my parents, is it true that as soon as my parents pass away the mind will then lack the principle of filiality? (Bary n.d., 849) This is Wang Yangming s interpretation of Zhu Xi s investigation of things. I want to use this passage to again, argue the principle in is oneself. If the principle was in the parents, then there would not be ancestor worship. Ancestor worship is a part of filial piety so, the principle must be in oneself to still show filiality after the parent s death. The Colloquy at the TianQuan Bridge is a famous event where two students of Wang Yangming met with him to debate. The two students were Ruzhong and Qian Dehong. The first to speak was Ruzhong and he said, In the original substance of the mind there is no distinction of good and evil. When the intentions become active, however, such a distinction exists. The current global economic state is slowly progressing, which is a positive indicator for the industry. Increasing farm income over the next five years will most likely boost demand for agricultural and turf machinery, but farmers will probably remain cautious with their purchasing decisions. Therefore, domestic sales will continue to be static. However, increasing demand in South America, China, India, and other global emerging markets is expected to significantly boost international sales of all product lines over the next few years as population and income growth in these emerging markets will drive this trend. This structure is imperative to their mission to serve and protect the free people of this country and to uphold the Constitution that affords it. Alas, the structure begs for internal oppression of minorities, due to the need and desire by its members to advance in rank. The General Officer Corps. is the highest of military ranks next to the President. And with rank brings freedoms, privileges, and above all power. A merger occurs when two firms come together or join together in order to share resources of the two organisations. What made him so special was the connection he had with his listeners. He found many ways to incorporate his life stories into his music that relates to every other thug growing up in the streets from New York City to Los Angeles. The perfect example of this is his double CD, Life after Death where most of his songs are about death and how people deal with it. • 15. High School Orchestra Research Paper Many don t realize that an orchestra is a team, a team is defined by Merriam Webster as a group of people who work together. However, being apart of a team is much more important than that, it is a group of people you rely on, that push you to do better. Being apart of a group can requires you to do the same for others: be there for them, push them to be better. Orchestrais very similar to a sports team, in that there is no real star of the show. Because, if one person messes up then they affect everyone. When everyone works hard and plays well together it can be a great experience, but when people don t try and lower the talent level of the group, it can be very frustrating. Because of this, the orchestra dynamic can be very discouraging to be a part of. In a high school orchestra you will see three main types of people: hard workers, attempters, and slackers.... I also try to get into honors orchestras like the Youth String Orchestra, Siesta Honors Orchestra, or the JFK Honors Orchestra. • 37. Irony In The Most Dangerous Game Irony and imagery are both important writing tools, used to guide the reader through the story while keeping them engaged and thinking about the story complexly. When used together successfully, the reader can walk away with something to think about, a new perspective on something they might have thought different about before. When considering this, I would argue that The Most Dangerous Game, is overall a better story than The Necklace . In both stories, irony is used to to teach a lesson. In Richard Cowell s The Most Dangerous Game, he tells a story of a hunter who is put into the place of the hunted. At the beginning of the story the protagonist, Reinsford, boasts about the extravagant nature of hunting for sport. The best sport in the world, (Cowell, 1924, p. 54) is ... Whether it is about something as relative as the quality of a story, or something considerably more important, like what makes something s life important, we have all had that feeling. On the other hand, we have The Necklace, by Guy De Maupassant. Maupassant s use of irony is less relatable and more comedic. He does this very well, oh my poor Mathilde, but mine was only paste! The equity theory in essence is when individuals seek to maintain equity based on the inputs they produce and the outcomes they receive from their inputs as compared to others perceived inputs and outcomes. A balance between inputs and outputs is strived for because it leads to fairness and improved relations. Mrs. Abravanel s opposition to the merger could be because of a perceived unfairness based on the efforts her husband put into to bringing the Utah Symphony up to world class stature. Mrs. Abravanel sees the symphony as the dominant party in the merger. This is apparent by Mrs. Abravanel s statement, Maurice would never take second billing to anyone (Delong amp; Ager, 2005).
