The separation of powers in the Constitution
Separation of powers is the division of political authority that gives a system of checks and balances to
make sure that no solitary branch turn out to be excessively infringes or powerful on the rights of the
citizens ( Gray, Kenneth, et.al 2005). The term separation of powers or trias politica was formed by
Charles Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, an 18th century French political
and social philosopher. Spirit of the Laws is one of his publications and considered as one of the
tremendous works in the history of and jurisprudence and, political theory; it inspired the Declaration
of the Rights of the Constitution and Man and of the United States (Anderson, Gordon L.2004). Under
his model, the political authority of the state is separated into legislative, executive as well judicial
powers. He declared that, to most efficiently promote liberty, these three powers have to be dividing
and acting independently.
Therefore, separation of powers refers to the distribution of government tasks and responsibilities into
diverse branches to limit any one branch from exercising the essential functions of another. The
objective is to prevent the concentration of power and give for checks and balances.
The usual characterizations of the powers of the branches are:
* The legislative branch is responsible for issuing the laws of the state and

Essay On Weight Watchers
Dieting is one thing that most people find themselves doing at some point in their lives. Whether it is
excessive exercise, limiting calorie intake, or a combination of both, it can be a struggle to lose
weight. Today, there are hundreds of types of diets that Americans are trying. There are some that have
better outcomes compared to many others that can have no effect on you. Three of the most common
diets in this generation are the Atkins Diet, the Weight Watchers Diet, and the South Beach Diet.
The Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet is a diet that was designed by a man named Robert Adkins. This diet is an approach
where you limit the amount of carbohydrates that you are consuming. Atkins started this diet by first
using it to solve his own overweight problem. His story got out and he started to write books on his
experiences and how the diet affected him. Now the Atkins diet plan has grown tremendously and has
its own health food products. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a food plan designed to help you lose weight by portioning the foods you eat so you are no longer
consuming excess calories. Jean Nidetch founded the Weight Watchers Diet in 1963, in Queens, New

habits, to eat smarter, to get more exercise, and to provide support. Weight Watchers requires you to
join a group to help you lose weight; their newest fad is SmartPoints. The SmartPoints plan helps to
guide members toward an overall eating pattern that is low in calories, saturated fat and sugar, and
higher in protein. This diet allows you to eat what you want based on your weight, height, age, and
gender, provided you stick to your daily target of SmartPoints. The diet is very common among many
Americans and in an experiment at twelve months Weight Watchers is associated with 2.6% more
weight loss than those who were in a control

Pluto Pros And Cons
People love Pluto, whether they are young or old it does not seem to matter. The planet (and Walt
Disney s beloved character) holds a special place in a lot of people s hearts. Yet, this only became
clear to me after reading The Pluto Files by Neil deGrasse Tyson. I remember when Pluto s
classification changed from being a planet to a dwarf planet however, I was never aware of how big of
a controversy it caused. The fact that there was a conference deciding whether or not we should keep
Pluto as our ninth planet was not something I was aware of previously to this book. Tyson does a
wonderful job explaining the story of Pluto and not only the how the planet was reclassified but also
why. As we spoke about in class Pluto does not really fit into the categories of being a planet, this was
one of the major arguments as to why Pluto should not be considered our nineth planet anymore. I
believe that it is interesting that some people were trying to then create a classification specifically for
Pluto. However, this obviously did not come to be as there must be more than one of something in
order for it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is surprising is how people reacted and continue to over the decision. I agree with Tyson when
he says Find quote about Pluto being the smallest planet and largest dwarf planet Yet, it is surprising
that a lot of people do not feel this way. Why are people so emotionally attached to an object that is
billions of miles away? Is it because it was one of the easier planets to remember in the solar system?
Or perhaps it was because it was the smallest and people tend to cheer for the underdog. No doubt
Disney s fun, loving pup had some help in the matter as well. Whatever the case people feel strongly
enough about the issue to write Tyson personally about the regrouping of their favorite planet. Again
what surprises me is that it was not only children but also

Purpose Of Art And Cubism
Art is a general term for the expression of ideas. There are various forms of art, ranging from painting
and drawings, to writing, to music, as well as theatre. Through each of these art forms, they have a
purpose of expressing concerns the artists face as well as world issues. Art is important as it helps
people improve themselves (Armstrong, 2013). Defining the purpose of art is personal and unique to
each individual. From the Renaissance ages art was a reflection of ideas that concerned men s mind.
Michelangelo believed that the truth of any matter existed in nature. It was the job of the artist to seek
the truth within the world and capture it in his art. This way of thinking is what made Michelangelo a
great artist. The quote great artists have the social function of constantly renewing the appearance of
nature in the eyes of the public was mentioned by Apollinaire, a French poet and an art critic (The
Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2017). Apollinaire focused on the subject of modern painting,
during 1880 1918, Cubism. Cubism was considered to be pure art, it was a new way to view reality
(TATE , 2017). It was a major style during the 20th century, a modern twist to depictions of nature.
Pablo Picasso was a major contributor to Cubism art style. Through this new style, it was also a new
interpretation of the world. Many people did not agree with the art style while others found it pleasing
to the eye. Apollinaire argued that cubism painters no longer imitate

Impact Of Depreciation On The Construction Industry Essay
As part of the business and finance module, I am require to write a report, discussing how depreciation
impacts a firm in the construction industry. Within this report I will discuss different areas of
depreciation such as what is depreciation? , causes of depreciation, its importance in the construction
industry, how depreciation affects profits and how depreciation can be measured. I will also discuss
the different methods for calculating depreciation and the effects on accounts if depreciation is not
accounted for. In this report, I will be giving examples of fixed assets that are common to the
construction industry and also give examples of how depreciation is calculated.
What is Depreciation?
Depreciation is the reduction in the value of certain fixed assets. It is a periodic reduction of fixed
assets, usually done every year. Fixed assets are assets that add value to the company. Examples of
fixed assets that can be depreciated are vehicles, buildings, machinery, equipment and fixture and
fittings. The only fixed asset that is not depreciated is land, because it is not worn out overtime, unless
natural resources are being exploited. When a company buys a new fixed asset it doesn t account for
the full cost of it as one single large expense, instead the expense is spread over the life time of the
asset. This is done by depreciating the asset. For example a company purchases a CNC router for
€50,000 and will be used for five year. If they pay the full amount in the

Definition And Diagnostic Criteria Of Dd
In this paragraph I will describe the definition and diagnostic criteria of PTSD.
What is trauma? According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). It is direct personal
experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other threat to one
s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the physical integrity
of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or violent death, serious
harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other close associate. Current
studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to more trauma than average
Americans.
PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and
veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike
military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to
acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of PTSD
may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as human
nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current diagnostic
classification systems.
The PTSD diagnosis first appeared in DSM III in 1980. Prior to 1980, PTSD was not recognized as a
mental illness. The change came largely due to efforts of Vietnam Veteran supporters.

They result in the following environmental threats like greenhouse effect, acidification, over
fertilization and depletion of the ozone layer. Impact of metals increasing levels of heavy metals such
as mercury and lead in the ground raise the risk of these leaking into the rivers, lakes and seas. These
elements cannot be broken down when repeatedly absorbed by organisms and they reach toxic levels.
Exploitation of the natural environment The eco cycle dictates that natural resources are returned to
the environment at the same rate as they are extracted. The use of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural
gases which are used in transport or to facilitate transport are extracted more than what can be
returned thus going against the principle of eco cycle. Expansion of transport requirements involves
bringing down of tree and extracting from the ground which affects the environment. An example is
the bypass that is running parallel to the Nairobi national park that is going to affect how the wildlife

Stereotypes In Mexican Culture
Stereotypes are uneducated opinions towards a certain group, most commonly used within races, skin
colors, and cultures. Stereotypes are usually from a majority group towards a minority group. Most of
us do not think about it much but, Stereotypes are in our everyday lives, and everyone has taken part
of a stereotype, either they have been the one stereotyping or they have been the victim of a stereotype
and has been stereotyped. Throughout my life, I have heard a lot of stereotypes towards my kind, and
more than likely it is always a negative stereotype. Some stereotypes through time die off but as they
die off, new stereotypes flood or society. I am a minority, I am Mexican American and classify myself
and embrace myself as one. The stereotype that I have experienced the most is that all Mexicans are
unintelligent delinquents. The stereotype of Mexicans being unintelligent and lazy was influenced by
the media. Media sources in our lives skew the way we judge people. This stereotype may be taken
lightly by everyone who iterates it but what is not taken into account is the effect this stereotype has in
the community for those of us that are Mexican. It has a negative impact on my community, I noticed
that the negative effect of this stereotype starts by influencing a couple of individuals and then
expands to the community as a whole. The stereotype that Mexicans are these unintelligent
delinquents gets planted in our heads at a young age and that affects the way some of

Analysis Of What You Eat Is Your Business By Radley Balko
Today, America is suffering from one of the world s biggest problems that is obesity .The government
is trying to solve obesity by forbidding junk food in school testing restaurant s menu, and having
specific food options for consumers. By the name of the article What You Eat
Is Your Business shows that what we choose to put into our bodies is our responsibility.
Therefore the author Radley Balko argues that it is not the government responsibility, it is each
individual responsibility.
Balko states Instead of manipulating or intervening in the array of food options available to American
consumers, our government ought to be working to foster a sense of responsibility in and ownership of
our own health and well being. But we are doing just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Balk also points out that if we pay the consequences for our own choices then we would make better
choices for a better healthy lifestyle. He says We ll all make better choices about diet, exercise, and
personal health when someone else isn t paying for the consequences of those choices (469). As Balko
also pointed out if the government is paying for my anti cholesterol medication, what incentive is
there for me to put down the cheeseburger? (467). In this case as long as we know that our bills is
being paid by other then why should we care about what we eat.
From my opinion, Balko states some effective points that I agree with and others I don t.
I do agree that it is the individual responsibility to make a good choice for a healthy lifestyle.
What I disagree with is that Balko says that the government involvement is the wrong way to fight
obesity. I believe if the government bans harmful food choices, it would make it easier

Sigmund Freud s Five Lectures On Psychoanalysis
In Sigmund Freud s Five Lectures on Psychoanalysis, he introduces theories regarding repressed
memories as a source for mental disturbances and methods of retrieving these memories. Freud
introduces techniques such as dream interpretation, word association, and hypnosis as methods for
treating symptoms of mental disturbances; it is for these discoveries that Sigmund Freud is considered
the father of psychoanalysis. According to neuropsychologist Paul Broks, Freud might also be

Freud is held most famous for introducing psychoanalysis as a method of mental health treatment.
Psychoanalysis is a psychological theory that investigates the conscious and subconscious minds with
the goal of treating mental disturbances. Psychoanalysis essentially retrieves a patient s repressed
feelings and fears to the surface with techniques such as hypnosis, word association, dream
interpretation, and hesitations and fumbles. Although Freud was not originally a fan of hypnosis, it
was theorized to be an effective of way of channeling the subconscious mind. Word associations are
the first things that come into mind. It goes straight through the id, so there is no time to channel the
ego or superego. In other words, when someone says the first word that goes through their mind, it
gives Freud a way to see into their subconscious mind and discover the trauma that the patient may
have experienced. The patient does not have the opportunity to over think about what he is saying.
According to Freud, dreams arouse feelings that are disguised and the unconscious mind can be
investigated by tracking and interpreting dreams. An example of a hesitation or fumble is a Freudian
slip, which is when someone

In regards, to the size of the investment we would estimate that they should spend anywhere from
$550 million to $1 billion to startup their business in Switzerland. This is based off the fact that in
2007 they raised $750 million to invest in new middle markets in North America and Europe, and they
also raised $1 billion in a Gulf Opportunity Fund in 2013. These findings demonstrate how the
company was willing to raise and invest money because they see the significant return on investment
for their company. Additionally, in 2008 their tech fund actually put $500 million into other tech firms
to help them globalize. The fact that Investcorp currently manages approximately $21.4 billion in
assets, their tech has been able to gain twice (return of investment) of what the company originally
invested. Based on this information we can estimate the company can see a return investment of $2
billion to $3 billion entering the Swiss market.
The corporate social responsibility for Investcorp is to assess and take responsibility for the company s
effects on environmental and social well being. Switzerland is one of the countries that holds
companies responsible for environmental well being. The Swiss government imposes their economic
actors to assume their responsibilities towards society. This means that the government is reinforcing
the position of Swiss enterprises in terms not only of their competitiveness but also with respects to

What does it mean to be human? In the novel Lord of The Flies, author William Golding goes in depth
and shines some light on a darker side of man with symbols he portrays throughout his book. In the
Lord of The Flies, a group of kids have crashed landed on an island with no civilization, no adults to
take charge, and no one to look after them. Alone, the group of kids slowly lose their grasp of
civilization, and one by one they start giving in to their savagery. In Lord of The Flies William
Golding uses the symbols of the beast, the pig hunts, and the island s scars to portray the kids fall from
civilization into savagery, also known as the dark side of man.

The Challenging Switch from DVD or Blu-ray
Not too terribly long ago, home video format converted from VHS tapes to DVDs and many
consumers found the change difficult to acclimate to. It seems as if as soon as we were familiar with
DVDs a new home video technology was introduced. With the recent addition of Blu ray disks to the
mix, many consumers are finding themselves confused and inexperienced with the different video
technologies. Though DVDs and Blu rays have many similarities they both also have their individual
pros and cons. A Blu ray disk is the exact same size as a DVD. When holding the two side by side it
would be impossible to differentiate between them. Although relatively new Blu ray is currently
supported by about 200 of the world s leading consumer electronics including Apple, Dell, Hitachi,
HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson,
along with recording media, video game and music companies. The most prominent difference
between DVD and Blu ray is their available storage space. According to the Blu ray Disk Association,
a Blu ray is an optical disk which uses a blue violet laser as opposed to the typical red laser. This
technology has a shorter wavelength than a red laser, which makes it possible to focus the laser spot
with even greater precision. This allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, so it s
possible to fit more data on the disc even though it s the same size. Larger storage capacity allows Blu

An Introduction Of Martingale Theory
Introduction to Martingale Theory
Martingale Theory is a simple mathematical model which models sequence of a fair game [1]. It is a
stochastic process on some probability space {Ω, F, P}. Originally it was used as a betting strategy
during 18th century in France. In 1934, Paul Lévy introduced concept of Martingale in probability
theory. It is named after La Grande Martingale, which means strategy for even odd bets where bets are
doubled every time we lose. Idea behind this betting strategy is tht one cannot expect gains without
taking risks.
To understand Martingale, we need to understand Filtration first.

concept of an individual comparing oneself to another individual becomes the root of all evil. In the
book Darkness is intended to represent the mysterious, the undesirable, the chaos, and the unknown.
All implications are to be looked at closely. The initial association with darkness is the obvious lack of
light. As we see it, or dont see it; Darkness is black. Darkness is the unkown. In the context of the
book, darkness is the journey to the African Jungle. Africa, in Conrad s time was yet to be explored. It
was liberally referred to as the dark continent. Characterized by its dark jungles, damp and foggy
weather and of course its natives. As the plot suggests, Conrads view of Africa is unclear. Marlow

Master and Man by Leo Tolstoy
Master and Man by Leo Tolstoy is a story that explores the dynamics between a peasant, Nakita and
his master,Vasillii Andriech. Andriech foolishly risks both of their lives, when they venture to another
town in inclement weather to secure a business deal. Unfortunately, Andreich s impatience and greed
ultimately leads to his demise. At the end of the story Nikita dies and is denied the same bliss that
Vasillii Andreich experiences in death; in order to solidify the dichotomy between these two men,
demonstrate how Andriech cheated Nakita, and he uses Nakita s lackluster death to amplify Andriech
s extraordinary passing. Nikita and Vasillii Andriech are opposites in their socioeconomic status and
their character. Nikita is a helpful, compassionate, and prudent man; while Andreich is a narcissistic,
opportunistic, and impetuous man. Nakita is caring enough to accompany on the trip, but Andriech is
unappreciative and views Nakita as a hindrance to his success. Nakita is compassionate, this is
revealed when he covers the horse in the cold. Andriech is uncharitable, does not even think to offer
poor Nakita a coat to wear for the trip in the snowstorm. During their trip, Nakita is the voice of
reason and Andieich fool hearty too concerned with securing his business deal than their saftey. When
they are facing death Nakita thinks of the people that he has let down and feels remorsful; meanwhile,
Andriech worries more about losing the opportunity to become more wealthy.

The Key Differences Between The “Law On The Books And “Law
The key differences between the law on the books and law in action, the phrase law on the books
defers because the term law in the books is written and/or codified. Law in the books is written and
laws to be followed by a country or state. Law in action refers to how and if a law is applied or
enforced it varies depending on the enforcer. ( Answers.com in Criminal Law , n.d.). The laws in the
book includes, but are limited to the laws of this country and state, however, the key difference of laws
in action is the enforcement of the laws.
For example, in England it is still currently illegal to sell fruit or vegetables at a market in basket
without selling the basket along with the last fruit/vegetable. This is the law of England and ... Show

Gary Haugen and Victor Boutros offer a searing account of how we got here and what it will take to
end the plague. Filled with vivid, real life stories and startling new data, The Locust Effect is a
gripping journey into the streets and slums where fear is a daily reality for billions of the world s
poorest, where safety is secured only for those with money, and where much of our well intended aid
is lost in the daily chaos of violence. (Boutros V. and Haugen G., 2014).
In their belief, the laws on books are written and on the books, but the laws in action are enforced to
protect the wealthy. The wealthy have an advantage over the poor even in our modern day society the
laws are written and the citizens of this country are advised to follow the laws. There are times even
the written laws apply to a certain class of people. For example, the case of Paul House, it appears his
pass criminal history and his non innocent impression made detectives think he was their guy. Often,
the publics urgency to find the killer or the individual who might fit the profile for the crime causes
our judicial system to not thoroughly investigate a case. The law on the books perspective in the case
of Paul House caused the prosecutors and the U.S. Supreme Courts to base their decision on the
written laws of Tennessee, however, the laws in action made Paul House guilty as charged. The
written laws were followed based on the evidence presented and the specifics of the case which lead

The temperature affects most reactions and increases there rates unless the reaction uses an enzyme
that only is effective up to or down to a certain temperature. This change has this effect because it
increases collision rate and speed so more collisions with the correct reaction energy occur so more
successful collisions occur increasing the reaction rate. The pressure is an important factor in gas
reactions because the gas concentration is proportional to pressure. The use of a catalyst affect
reaction rate by lowering the reaction enthalpy making the proportion of successful collisions higher.
Surface area of reactants is a key variable because a higher surface area provides a higher chance of 2
reactants colliding and producing a successful reaction. Activation enthalpy: I just talked a lot about
activation enthalpy I will now explain what is meant by this. Activation enthalpy is the minimum
amount of kinetic energy required by a pair of colliding particles for a reaction to occur. it is the
amount of energy required for the particles of the reactants to break the bonds holding them

Abstract
Android is becoming the most used smartphone operating system all over the world since the first
version of Android was released at 2008. In this research paper, I systemize most important milestones
from Android 1.0 to Android 6.0 based on the description from Google Inc. During the collection of
Android versions, I highlight the most influential changes for Android s development.
Keywords: Android, feature, history
1. Introduction
According to Kidman. A (2014), the most popular smartphone operating system globally is Android,
and it has about 80.6% of market share. People may want to know how Android becomes the most

2.1.1 Quick Search Box. As people all know, the major character of Google is its searching function.
Android s Quick Search Box is ubiquitous. User can use this function to get search results from both
phone local content and website at once. It highly improves processing efficiency. Quick Search Box
created the idea that make smartphone as a convenient device.
2.1.2 Screen Size Diversity. People are more likely to use big screen phones than small screen phones.
Before the period of big screen phones, people used to use screen size around 2.4 inches. After iPhone
comes, people seem like to use big screen phones than before. However, the phone s featuring
displays was limited by 320*480 portrait. Because of the featuring displays limitation, it is hard for
manufactories to make big screen phones. Thanks to capabilities launched with Donut which allowed
Android to run on a variety of screen resolutions and aspect ratios. This opened the door for phones
featuring displays other than 320*480 portrait. With the higher portrait, manufacturers can design
bigger screen phones with an acceptable and distinct definition.

The Russian Revolution Of 1917
The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and marked the
beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established the Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of investigation as it is
arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it helped shape many other
subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War. The Bolsheviks triumph can be
accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism;
the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks compared to the downfalls of the Provisional
Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover. There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such
as the backwardness of Russian society, the failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of
government which caused grievances amongst the people. The Russian public desired political
change, whether towards a more democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more
socialist revolution in which power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why
Tsarism collapsed, it is crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led
to the Tsar s weaknesses in his control of the government.
Russia at this time was a backwards and provincial society: encompassing a vast expanse of territory,
the towns were underdeveloped and the

Arrogance In Heroes, Gods, And Monsters Of The Greek Myth
The definition of arrogance is overbearing pride. I see arrogance almost everywhere I go: the store,
church, school, and on the street. Arrogance could be disguised as self reliance, but you need to be
able to know when you need help, and be able to accept it. Those who do not accept help and are too
arrogant, which is a sin. Many of the Greek myths, some of my family members, and myself
sometimes have arrogance. Almost every Greek myth in Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek
Myths has arrogance as a sin. The story of Phaethon reminded me the most of arrogance as a sin.
Phaethon was a son of Apollo and he was talking to the son of Zeus, who didn t believe that he was
the son of Apollo. Phaethon out of arrogance, told the son of

Facing Searching for international allies to counter China s aggression and North Korea s missile

the Emperor expressed his renewed sense of sorrow to the victims of the WWII at war memorials. The
imperial couple is known to be aware of Imperial Japan s past and stated that Japan should not forget

Comparing Glass Menagerie And Eating Gilbert Grape

to take a bath, after that Gilbert left the house and drove off. Gilbert had enough
of Arnie and his responsibility of taking care of him, Gilbert just wanted to escape

How Does Catullus Poem 64
Poem 64 is one of Catullus most ambitious and complex works. The mini epic comprises of 408 lines,
making it the longest poem of all Catullus works. The poem is written in the dactylic hexameter, the
traditional meter of epic poetry. The poem is further told through ekphrasis an ancient doctrine
denoting any poetic or rhetorical description, including descriptions of landscape, buildings, battles,
and storms.
The focal point of this report will be on the content of poem 64 and how it, reflects Catullus himself
and his relationship with Lesbia. Further, I will examine the mirroring of characters and emotions and
ambiguity of the poem as it stands in relation to his other works.

However, immediately after this joyful expression of love and marriage Catullus introduces Ariadne.
Namque fluentisono prospectans litore Diae

Our first introduction of Ariadne is of her abandonment by Theseus. Ariadne looks on as Theseus
abandons her on the island bearing wild furies in the heart.
Catullus uses the female narrative express his feelings of grief due to his abandonment by Lesbia.
Theseus careless forgetfulness, which in the legend causes his father s mistaken suicide, parallels the
fecklessness of Lesbia.
Surrounding this, there is the perfect wedding of Peleus and Thetis represents a kind of high point in
the age of heroes. Achilles, destined to be born of this match, will distinguish himself chiefly by his
bloodthirstiness (as we learn in the marriage hymn sung by the Fates, 323 81).
Therefore, In poem 64 Ariadne is Catullus, and Theseus stands in as lesbia. Ariadne curses him from
line 130 stating that he is Treacherous, forgetful of his promises, merciless and ruthless. voce mihi,

Chiropractic Ethical Dilemmas
In the past century, chiropractors were shunned and undermined as unethical medical doctors with the
sole belief that it was unethical to associate with any of these kind of practitioners. The article which I

history and events of the struggle of the chiropractors back in the early 1800s up until the late 1900 s.
The article also explains how Chester Wilk along with four other chiropractors sued the AMA due to

Negative Effects Of Driverless Cars
As the idea of technology is increasing exponentially, a new concept of self driving cars has arisen in
today s society. Rather than people driving the car, this new car will be driven by a computer or
technology. This car could be beneficial to society because of its ability to safely and quickly navigate
itself without any distractions. But because this car is based fully on technology, the probability the
car could malfunction and lead to more deaths is larger than the average non autonomous car. One
time, I was stopped at an intersection and a car ran the red light and t boned an oncoming vehicle. The
man claimed he had a failure in his automatic braking system, and he was unable to brake at the red
light. This represented the harsh reality technology is not always reliable. Driverless cars are not
beneficial to society because the cars have a negative effect on the safety and the economy in the
community.
Autonomous cars are not profitable to society because not only do they put the driver at risk, but they
also put pedestrians at risk. Although non autonomous cars have a chance of being hacked, driverless
cars will have less of opportunity for a passenger to correct any errors (Haines). With the inability to
correct a hacked car, the roads become a very dangerous place for pedestrians and other drivers
because this car will be travelling at rapid speeds with no one at the wheel. These cars, when hacked,
can easily fly through neighborhoods and put children playing

Archetypes In As I Lay Dying
Epictetus said, It s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. William Faulkner
explored this idea, among others, in his novel, As I Lay Dying, which follows the Bundren family on
their trek to Jefferson. Michael Arndt s screenplay, Little Miss Sunshine, explores similar themes and
follows the Hoover family on their road trip to California. In both cases, everything during the journey
goes wrong which tests the relationships of the family members. Carl Jung applied the term archetype
to literature because he realized that all people share similar experiences in their respective cultures.
Authors use archetypes so readers can relate to the characters in their stories; such is the case with the

The broken clutch symbolizes the hardship that the Hoover family has to overcome in order to foster
closer relationships. It is a constant reminder of their financial problems, among other problems, every
time that they get into the car. The mechanic explains to the Hoover family that As long as [they]
keeps parkin it on a hill they will be fine (Arndt 37). Because it is hard to always park the minibus on
a hill, the family has to work together and push start the car every time they want to get back on the
road. The family turns this into a fun, positive activity which brings them closer to each other. The
clutch acts as Arndt s contemporary interpretation of Addie s coffin in As I Lay Dying. The coffin is a
symbol of all of the Bundrens problems. Arndt and Faulkner also use roadside signs as symbols of
how the trip is progressing. For example, on the way to the pageant the Hoover family drives by a sign
titled, Carefree Highway which symbolizes how the problems they have overcome have made them a
closer, happier family. This contrasts the Bundren family, who pass a sign titled, New Hope. 3 mi. ,
which slowly fades away as they continue past it (Faulkner 120). This symbolizes that the Bundren
family is losing hope as they continue their journey, with each problem causing the family to slowly

What is Land?
In common law perspective, the term land is defined as the parcel of land comprising the airspace

The interest in land is defined as the rights, titles, advantages, duties or liabilities in relation to the
land. This allows the holder to have a right over the land formed from an estate although will not

Because of her expertise in all domestic matters, she was the premier house servant and all others
were her subordinates. This, therefore, is the broad outline of Mammy. She was a woman completely
dedicated to the white family, especially to the children of that family. She was the house servant who
was given complete charge of domestic management. She served also as friend and advisor. She was,
in short, a surrogate mistress and mother, giving into the modern day nanny. The Mammy image is
fully as misleading as that of Jezebel. Both images have enough instances in reality to lend credibility
to stereotypes that would profoundly affect black women. For instance, Black women served in all
capacities, from cook to waiting maid, or seamstress. In very wealthy Southern households there were
many female servants. Children grew very attached to Mammy, as she was seen as their primary
caregiver. Being a Mammy was idyllic for a slave women, for they were given better care and the

Toyota put a responsive 1.5 litre 4 cylinder engine in each of the models. These 16 valve engines are
designed with VVT i technology exclusive to Toyota. Their variable valve timing with intelligence
offers better performance and better response time in order to improve the efficiency of the engine. An
improvement in engine performance offers you better fuel efficiency and a smoother ride.
This hatchback is small and nimble, which makes it fun to sport around town or to take out on the
winding mountain roads. It has a wheelbase of 2,510 mm, which makes it easy to park in downtown
parking spaces.
The Yaris comes standard with a manual transmission, but there is an optional 4 speed automatic
transmission. Since the Yaris is a sporty vehicle, you may opt to stay with the 5 speed manual
transmission, so you can take control over the shifting for a better sports car

I remember when Pluto s classification changed from being a planet to a dwarf planet however, I was never aware of how big of a controversy it caused. The fact that there was a conference deciding whether or not we should keep Pluto as our ninth planet was not something I was aware of previously to this book. Tyson does a wonderful job explaining the story of Pluto and not only the how the planet was reclassified but also why. As we spoke about in class Pluto does not really fit into the categories of being a planet, this was one of the major arguments as to why Pluto should not be considered our nineth planet anymore. I believe that it is interesting that some people were trying to then create a classification specifically for Pluto. However, this obviously did not come to be as there must be more than one of something in order for it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is surprising is how people reacted and continue to over the decision. I agree with Tyson when he says Find quote about Pluto being the smallest planet and largest dwarf planet Yet, it is surprising that a lot of people do not feel this way. Why are people so emotionally attached to an object that is billions of miles away? Is it because it was one of the easier planets to remember in the solar system? Or perhaps it was because it was the smallest and people tend to cheer for the underdog. No doubt Disney s fun, loving pup had some help in the matter as well. Whatever the case people feel strongly enough about the issue to write Tyson personally about the regrouping of their favorite planet. • 6. Purpose Of Art And Cubism Art is a general term for the expression of ideas. There are various forms of art, ranging from painting and drawings, to writing, to music, as well as theatre. Through each of these art forms, they have a purpose of expressing concerns the artists face as well as world issues. Art is important as it helps people improve themselves (Armstrong, 2013). Defining the purpose of art is personal and unique to each individual. From the Renaissance ages art was a reflection of ideas that concerned men s mind. Michelangelo believed that the truth of any matter existed in nature. It was the job of the artist to seek the truth within the world and capture it in his art. This way of thinking is what made Michelangelo a great artist. The quote great artists have the social function of constantly renewing the appearance of nature in the eyes of the public was mentioned by Apollinaire, a French poet and an art critic (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2017). Apollinaire focused on the subject of modern painting, during 1880 1918, Cubism. Cubism was considered to be pure art, it was a new way to view reality (TATE , 2017). It was a major style during the 20th century, a modern twist to depictions of nature. Pablo Picasso was a major contributor to Cubism art style. Through this new style, it was also a new interpretation of the world. Many people did not agree with the art style while others found it pleasing to the eye. Impact Of Depreciation On The Construction Industry Essay As part of the business and finance module, I am require to write a report, discussing how depreciation impacts a firm in the construction industry. Within this report I will discuss different areas of depreciation such as what is depreciation? , causes of depreciation, its importance in the construction industry, how depreciation affects profits and how depreciation can be measured. I will also discuss the different methods for calculating depreciation and the effects on accounts if depreciation is not accounted for. In this report, I will be giving examples of fixed assets that are common to the construction industry and also give examples of how depreciation is calculated. What is Depreciation? Depreciation is the reduction in the value of certain fixed assets. It is a periodic reduction of fixed assets, usually done every year. Fixed assets are assets that add value to the company. Examples of fixed assets that can be depreciated are vehicles, buildings, machinery, equipment and fixture and fittings. The only fixed asset that is not depreciated is land, because it is not worn out overtime, unless natural resources are being exploited. When a company buys a new fixed asset it doesn t account for the full cost of it as one single large expense, instead the expense is spread over the life time of the asset. This is done by depreciating the asset. For example a company purchases a CNC router for €50,000 and will be used for five year. If they pay the full amount in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Definition And Diagnostic Criteria Of Dd In this paragraph I will describe the definition and diagnostic criteria of PTSD. What is trauma? According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). It is direct personal experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other threat to one s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the physical integrity of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or violent death, serious harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other close associate. Current studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to more trauma than average Americans. PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of PTSD may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as human nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current diagnostic classification systems. The PTSD diagnosis first appeared in DSM III in 1980. Prior to 1980, PTSD was not recognized as a mental illness. The change came largely due to efforts of Vietnam Veteran supporters. ... Some stereotypes through time die off but as they die off, new stereotypes flood or society. I am a minority, I am Mexican American and classify myself and embrace myself as one. The stereotype that I have experienced the most is that all Mexicans are unintelligent delinquents. The stereotype of Mexicans being unintelligent and lazy was influenced by the media. Psychoanalysis essentially retrieves a patient s repressed feelings and fears to the surface with techniques such as hypnosis, word association, dream interpretation, and hesitations and fumbles. Although Freud was not originally a fan of hypnosis, it was theorized to be an effective of way of channeling the subconscious mind. Word associations are the first things that come into mind. It goes straight through the id, so there is no time to channel the ego or superego. In other words, when someone says the first word that goes through their mind, it gives Freud a way to see into their subconscious mind and discover the trauma that the patient may have experienced. • 24. The Russian Revolution Of 1917 The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and marked the beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of investigation as it is arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it helped shape many other subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War. The Bolsheviks triumph can be accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism; the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks compared to the downfalls of the Provisional Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover. There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such as the backwardness of Russian society, the failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of government which caused grievances amongst the people. The Russian public desired political change, whether towards a more democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more socialist revolution in which power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why Tsarism collapsed, it is crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led to the Tsar s weaknesses in his control of the government. Russia at this time was a backwards and provincial society: encompassing a vast expanse of territory, the towns were underdeveloped and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She served also as friend and advisor. She was, in short, a surrogate mistress and mother, giving into the modern day nanny. The Mammy image is fully as misleading as that of Jezebel.
