Attendance Officer Of The National Honor Society At Colton...
Supplemental Application: Elena Macias
1.Attendance officer of the National Honor Society at Colton High School is my closest
affiliation with office experience. The duties of this position were to keep an updated and
organized file of attendance and volunteer hours completed of an estimated 100 students. I
created a profile page for every student within the club, which included their name, grade,
attendance record, and volunteer service log. I then organized the files in a binder, categorizing
them by grade and arrange them in alphabetical order. I obtained this position for one year and
was awarded a scholarship from the club for my service.
2.Projects:
a.Microsoft Word: As a student at San Diego State University, I have used Microsoft Word to write
all of my essays and homework assignments. If a certain homework assignment requires a specific
format, I have been able to utilize Microsoft Word s multiple settings to construct my documents
the way I need to. Currently I can type an average of 50 words per minute. I have been using
Microsoft Word for 8 years.
b.Microsoft Excel: I have needed to use Microsoft Excel for my ROP computer course in high
school. The course, Geographical Informational Systems, required data imputations and to create
efficient charts and tables, we utilized Microsoft Excel. GIS was a year long course and at its end I
received a certification of authenticity.

Rear Window Gender Stereotypes
Alfred Hitchcock s 1954 movie Rear Window captivates the audience by presenting a thrilling
murder mystery, where Jeff Jefferies, the masculine hero, is confined to a wheel chair in his
apartment, which leads to the spying on his neighbors. In the movie, Hitchcock beautifully
captures the turn of events from Jeff s wrongful surveillance of his neighbors, to catching the killer.
His examination of the idea of surveillance and privacy, plays into the current American debate of
the rise of the surveillance debate. Hitchcock s movie also falls into a traditional pattern where men
are the active dominant roles and women are the submissive, background roles. Consequently, I
believe that women are not a part of the rise of surveillance state conversation,... Show more content

These differences are not highlighted during the movie. However, they remain key in our
understanding of how each gender understands and plays a role in the rise of surveillance debate.
One major factor of why there is such a heavily male presence in the surveillance the debate, is
the idea the men are able to think quick on their feet and remain calm. This can be seen when Jeff
was not visibly distraught as the killer was approaching him. This increases the societal stigma that
men are able to remain calm, in a time of stress, or danger, and come up with solutions, whereas
women are

The Evolutionary Drive Is Sexual Selection
Biological Perspective Certain factors which may contribute to honor killings stem from biology,
specifically from evolutionary drives. One such drive is sexual selection. According to Charles
Darwin, animals including humans might choose their mates based on specific traits which they
find attractive. In human males, appealing physical traits involve height and masculinity.
Psychological characteristics would include sexual aggressiveness. Aggression is therefore more
liable to be passed down to the next generation and to modern males, making them exceedingly
likely to assert their control over women (Goldstein, 2002). Another related drive is that of
paternal certainty. Males of any species generally want to ensure that the offspring of females with
which they have reproduced are, in fact, theirs. The concept of paternal certainty guarantees that
males assure their genetics are passed down. The fact that female fidelity within sexual
relationships would sanction for greater paternal certainty, whereas male fidelity would not do the
same has led to social norms of harsher punishments for female adultery as well as norms of
patriarchal control. Likewise, it elucidates the behavior which is used to control women (Goldstein,
2002). Psychological Factors In addition to biological contributors, it remains likely for
psychological factors to influence the likelihood of committing honor based violence. For instance,
those who commit honor crimes tend to show a specific type of

Analysis Of The Second Sex
I n today s society, the human body is placed on a pedestal for the world to critique. Both women
and men are seen as individuals that are supposed to act, dress, and look a certain way. If they
falter, they are seen as strange and sometimes called names; this is especially true for women.
According to society, man is womans better half, and many philosophers have shown interest in
this correlation. Beauvoir, in her book The Second Sex, she talks about how women are the
other and are seen as being less than men are. Also, Young explains in her paper, Throwing Like
a Girl, how men and women approach certain obstacles differently. Along with Young s, paper a
company called Always made a promo #LikeAGirl and put into practice what Young states in her
paper. Though these philosophers and company have tried to push for woman equality, other
companies, such as Hardies, have stopped their efforts. So why do we see women as the lesser
half? It is because, how we see the humanbody, particularly women, is in direct correlation to
where and how we are raised. Before you can describe what the difference between men and
women is, you must first understand what it means to be a woman. As Beauvoir explains in her
book The Second Sex,
Everyone agrees there are females in the human species; today, as in the past, they make up about
half of humanity; and yet we are told that femininity is in jeopardy ; we are urged, be woman, stay
woman, become woman. So not every female human being

The Dialectical Model Of Identity Formation
In Don s lecture, he discusses the dialectical model of Identity formation, which includes three
components or circles that interact. The subjective reality, the objective reality and Indigenous
objective reality. Subjective reality is the individual s identity that is comprised of someone s
thoughts and feelings. Objective reality is outside of the self, encompassing the culturein
mainstream society, such as institutions, history, capitalism and rules. The indigenous objective
reality is influenced by both mainstream society and Aboriginal culture. People s feelings and
behaviours are likely to mimic those of the urban people around them.
There are two process that occur, externalization and internalization. Externalization is the process
of taking a thought and projecting it to the objective reality. For example, an individual will
externalize their Indigenous culture to school by bringing traditions from home like dances and
teaching them to students. Externalizing can also happen from mainstream society to the
Indigenous culture by bringing what is learned at school to back to the family. Internalization is
how the individual s subjective reality is affected by the surrounding institutions through rules,
norms, etc. Therefore, they internalize the Indigenous culture through family traditions, and
Internalize mainstream society through the media, school rules, etc.
Early Europeans thought that it was impossible for Indigenous peoples to participate in the modern
world

Personal Narrative-It s Me
What I do isn t easy, what I do isn t safe... It s me, it s the way I am, I will ride my hardest... I will
not quit even though the world tells me to stop, I will not stop. I will hold it wide open till I die.
This quote was written by Garrett George. While most people find their happiness in painting or
video games or even common sports like basketball, soccer, and baseball, I find mine in motocross.
It s music to my ears. It s a way of life, a passion... it s everything to me. Life is about finding what
you love and letting it kill you.

About half a year later, I found myself trying to get back into racing, but soccer got the best of me.
I ended up tearing the LCL in my right knee after being tripped in a game. The injury required
surgery to fix the tear so I could walk again and nine months of therapy to recover, costing about
$25,000. Over the period of absence from racing, I played soccer until 11th grade because I tore
my IT band in my hip and then competed on the bowling team my senior year. Over the years, I
found myself a stable job and began saving up. I always tried to distract myself from the
thoughts of racing again, but the passion was burning and I couldn t resist the temptation. This
past summer, I drove to Old Appleton, Missouri, to visit my friend Jared. While I was there Jared
and I went to ride at a track called Sky High since we used to race together when we were younger.
Ever since that day, motocross is all I can think about.. With the little free time I do have due to
being in college and working full time, I have found myself jumping head first back into doing
what I love, racing. Many people have told me that I would never get back to the top when it
comes to racing. They tell me that I ll never be able to make anything out of racing. I believe in
myself and I am confident that I can. When people, say these put downs, it encourages me to
train even harder and do everything I can to make sure I never lose the thing I love again. Now,
those people look at me and wish they knew what was going on in my mind that pushed me to
prove them wrong. After years of hard work and countless hours at the gym and on the track
practicing, I was offered a full ride sponsorship with a local track. This sponsorship has given me
the opportunity of a lifetime! I have a racing dirt bike with free

Erickson Reflection
This week we learned about Erickson and his theory on development. Erikson studied under the
Freud method, but unlike Freud, Erikson actually did research on infants and children as they
were developing. I really enjoyed learning about Erikson considering I have a 5 month old at
home growing away. It was interesting to compare these videos to where my baby was in
development. Another interesting thing about this module was the James Marcia Identity
Status which consists of 4 parts foreclosure, achievement, diffusion, and moratorium. Diffusion
is when you have not really made a commitment to anything yet. This is typically a high school
junior/senior or even college freshman/sophomore. They have not yet figured out what they
want to do with life yet and honestly, aren t too worried about. In my diffusion score I received a
5 meaning I guess I am in the middle. I m not too sure if I agree with this accusation or not, but
maybe that is why I scored this number. Although I had my career path figured out and I was on
the path to it up until a few months ago I feel as though I have started testing the waters in other
areas now. These areas are still very close to what my original plan was. Now that I have a family
I am focused more now than ever to pick the perfect career for not just me, but my family. I feel as
though I have always been well organized planned women, but throwing a baby, husband, and other
life changing circumstances into the mix has lead me to this spot

Archeology In Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Definition of Archeology
Uninformed people might think that archaeology is the stuff of Indiana Jones, the character
played by Harrison Ford in the classic 1981 Movie entitled Raiders of the Lost Ark. In this movie,
Jones was an adventurer and so called archaeologist who sought a golden idol. Jones did not
proceed in an orderly, scientific fashion, nor record the surroundings, location, or precise
measurements.
There are many different definitions for archeology, and here are a few: Archeology is the study of
human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other

to new discoveries. The archives today are stored on huge computer systems and can be recovered

while I have always been Christian. He was a veteran then a hippy, and I have never served nor

Love At First Sight In Romeo And Juliet
Throughout Shakespearean works, love at first sight is a commonly used theme seen in many
plays. Specifically, in the play Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters seem to experience the
moment of love at first sight. The concept, however, poses an issue in the fact the characters
quickly become obsessed with the person they are in lovewith. The characters quickly becoming so
infatuated leads to the idea of love being based on surface level beauty and one s physical
attraction to another rather than a deeper, more meaningful connection. In William Shakespeare s
tragedy Romeo and Juliet true love is portrayed as an infatuation based on pure attraction seen in
Romeo s obsession with Rosaline even though he barely spoke with her, Paris wish to marry Juliet
despite never actually spending time with her, and Romeo and Juliet s haste in moving forward in
their relationship without knowing anything about one another. Early in the play, Romeo is
obsessed with Rosaline, a Capulet, even though he does not know anything about her. Romeo tells

Economic Equality Between The Social Classes Of The Great...
There should be greater economic equality between the social classes of the great United States of
America. While there is no agreement of a full blown communist or socialist revolution, a la Karl
Marx, there is agreement that there should be slight changes towards this idea of equality.
According to the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, a social contract (theory) is the view that
persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them
to form the society in which they live (Friend). The current American contract is debatable, and the
exact definition depends on each person individually. Similar to Hobbes and Rousseau alike, Daniel

Economic inequality is a multifaceted, idea that breaks down into unequal distributions of
income, pay, and wealth. Of course, each individual definition is the inequality of distribution of
each concept, respectively ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). Income is the money
received from nearly everything a person is a part of: investments, bonds, stocks, property,
wages, salary, pension, rent, payment, etc. ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). By
definition, those with less of these investments and earnings are at a disadvantage than those
with more. Normal class citizens do not own thousands and thousands of stocks, large houses
and yachts, nor do they receive these large wages similar to the wealthy. Nonetheless, while this
seems like a tiresome argument, the cries are valid. The Scientific American states that, The top
20% of US households own more than 84% of the wealth, and the bottom 40% combine for a
paltry 0.3%. The Walton family, for example, has more wealth than 42% of American families
combined (Fitz). This notion relates to not only a small fraction of economic inequality, but to a
major gap between those that supposedly have it better. Pay refers to the payment from
employment only ( How is Economic Inequality Defined? ). This area is seemingly easier to
work with the idea of equality, for a job/career usually relies on skills alone. Usually is a key word
only due to the fact that networking and knowing the right people can

Comparing Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman Architecture Essay
The two ancient civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome were the best of the best during their
time periods. Ancient Greece began around 2000 B.C. by the inhabitants known as the Mycenaean

founded around 753 B.C. by the two twins, Romulus and Remus. Romulus ended up killing Remus
and built the city of Romeon one of seven rolling hills. Architecture was very important to both

The green background is used to highlight and contrast the white sheep and Saint Apollinare. Most
of the sheep and the saint occupy a the same ground level and plane. Unlike the mosaic of Christ

The Existence Of God. Throughout The Years As Human Beings
The Existence of God Throughout the years as human beings keep learning about the world we are
finding out that we are living in a world where evil surrounds us. This belief conflicts with the
beliefs of theism, one who believes in a God or Gods, especially a personal God who s in control of
the world. If there was an all powerful, all knowing, and all good God, then he should have the
knowledge that there s evil in the world, he should have the benevolence to want to stop the evil,
and he should have the ability to make the evil vanish. We can know that the problem of evil exists
in the world by having to experience it only a few times and the suffering caused by this evil is
something no human would want happening to them. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An uncontrollable and unnecessary evil is the example of all powerful, all knowing, and all evil
being known as Satan. Some try to justify evil by blaming it on Satan. God doesn t create evil;
Satan does (taken from Doing Philosophy, Lewis Vaughn). This argument helps solidify the
theistic beliefs that there s an all powerful, all knowing, and all good God who is aware of how
much evils is brought in the world by humans and is able to control it and keep it in equilibrium
with the good. If we were controlled by a force beyond our control like God, then we would be
perfectly good beings who would always choose the good decision over the evil one. Some of
the evil in this world is said to be caused by humans and the choices we choose. This is
implemented that we live in a world where our actions aren t constrained by any limiting factor,
meaning we have the freewill to choose to act on our own moral values and choose between evil
or good. These people believe that, the price we pay for having free will is the existence of evil
(taken from Doing Philosophy, Lewis Vaughn). Although some argue that, a being who has free
will and yet always choose the good does not seem to be logically impossible (taken from Doing
Philosophy, Lewis Vaughn) we get a sense that we aren t born that way since we all were raised

Benatar s Article About Affliction
Joshua Rothman begins his article, The Case For Not Being Born by telling the reader about an
antinatalist who goes by the name of David Benatar. In his opinion, he believes that life is
atrocious that human beings have to stop having children. Rothman continues his article stating
that David Benatar says that many parents go to their extent to make their children protected but
the only way to make them protected would have to be not bringing them into existence. In
Benatar s book Better Never To Been: The Harm of Coming Into Existence , reproducing is cruel
and irresponsible because of the fate we bring ourselves upon but as well because life revolves
around affliction. Overall in his book he restates that those are the reasons why there

The Great Depression in Alex Kershaw s The Bedford Boys
Bedford Boys 1. How did the Great Depression affect the town of Bedford before the war? What
programs were offered in the town to help alleviate the Depression? How did it motivate many
of the men to join the National Guard? The Great Depression affected people all over the United
States of America and the people of the town of Bedford, Virginia perhaps worse than many
others. Bedford, in the time before the Great Depression, had an economy that was primarily
based upon agriculture. One family from Bedford, the Stevens boys, was an example of the
people who were financially destabilized by the Depression (Kershaw 2003, 10). The banks often
foreclosed on lands which had been in the hands of local families for generations, making scores
of people homeless and without employment. Everyone was called upon to do whatever was
possible to make ends meet. One man, Dickie Overstreet, had somehow gotten by in the worst
years of the Depression through supplying vegetables and meat to Dickie s aunt, who owned the
Dutch Inn, a boardinghouse in Bedford (Kershaw 2003, 60). Some people sold their property and
took whatever jobs were available. People s pride and vanity soon vanished when it became
apparent that the alternative was starvation and destitution. With the administration of Franklin
Delano Roosevelt and the implementation of the New Deal works projects, things became better
for many people in Bedford and throughout the nation. One of the potential job opportunities for

Female Empowerment In Kesa
While female empowerment is crucial to being a feminist, female empowerment sometimes
undermines being a woman through word choice and subliminal messages. Female empowerment
for pop singer Kesha has been a constant throughout her songs, albeit sometimes raunchy or dirty
like in her early years. Those songs that are supposed to be empowering but are still sort of
perverse show how there is actually a hidden ideology about what it means to be an empowered
woman. However, that hidden ideology is often undercut but the initial interpretation or reading of
the work. While Kesha s female power anthem Woman highlights being independent of a man, it
actually highlights how women and their independence is undermined by continuously being
compared to what men can do and using standards brought about by the heteronormative
categorization of woman.
From the beginning of Kesha s hit song, she exclaims that she is independent because she buys
her own things and pays her own bills. It certainly is empowering for women to be proud of
earning their money without any help, and it should be seen as a sign of independence. What is so
great about her first verse is that she actually accomplishes all of those things, so she has some
credibility behind her words. As great as that is, she is also implying that these are the things that
make her an independent woman, that these things define what it means to be an independent
woman. Any feminist would argue that being able to afford your

Analysis of the Novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn Essay
Ishmael begins when the nameless narrator finds a newspaper ad that reads: Teacher seeks pupil.
Must have an earnest desire to save the world. Apply in person (4).
At first, he is angry, as it reminds him of the counterculture movement of the 1960s, which he
participated in only to discover that there was no easy way to save the world.
Nonetheless, he responds to the ad, and finds that the teacher is a gorilla. Behind the gorilla is a
sign that reads With man gone, will there be hope for gorilla? (9).
The gorilla, named Ishmael, can communicate telepathically. Communicating with him in this
fashion, the narrator learns Ishmael s background in which the gorilla was stolen from the wild and
displayed in a menagerie, then rescued by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To hep understand how Takers pass along their story, Ishmael introduces a figure named Mother
Culture, who he insists reinforces the story through every facet of Taker society. Takers assume that
humans are the pinnacles of evolution, and that the world was made for man. This belief has led to
catastrophic results, yet the Taker story allows man to blame to gods. They believe the gods wishes
man to be in control, and so if man is fundamentally flawed, then the gods are responsible for
engendering the situation. Ishmael refuses to accept this premise, saying that the only thing wrong
with humans is that the story that they insist on enacting puts them at odds with the world.
Ishmael and the narrator also work to establish some immutable laws of life and species that have
allowed the world to survive for this long. They agree that a law of limited competition exists
amongst all species on Earth, and only man has taken exception to that law. In short, this law
suggests that any species may protect and look out for itself, but cannot wipe out another species. A
natural food chain must persist.
Ishmael next discusses the Genesis origin stories of Adam and Eve, and of Cain and Abel to explore
the meaning of the Taker story, and how it historically worked against the Leaver civilizations. He
claims that the Fall of Man story was actually developed by Leavers to explain why the Takers

Descriptive Essay About Disney World
On Monday Joy and her family arrived in Orlando, Florida, but they were not staying on the
Disney resort, but instead, they choose to stay at the Kissimmee Koa campground. While they all
impatiently waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her
siblings decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning
their short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were
extremely excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the
campground at about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When
the family arrived at the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and
enter the park. During the entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But,
upon arriving to the actual theme park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a
reality and she shed tears of excitement. Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings,
song and dance, food like homemade fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages,
statues and Disney characters. Joys family adventure began by entering through a tunnel just
below a train station before they landed right in front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience
was nothing like what joy had even been through before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle
she dreamed about living in, much like every other girl. Six paths lead from several different angle
around the castle spreading throughout the theme park.
One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the
Swiss Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss
Family Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb
and maneuver through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in
the movie. As Joy entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the
pathway to the dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings

Symbolism In Go Tell It On The Mountain
In Go Tell It on the Mountain, James Baldwin works with themes of gender, violence, and
change. He does this through Florence, Gabriel, and the symbol of morning. The author is trying
to say people s decision can be determined by external factors. Florence is treated differently
because she is girl. Education is not offered to her, but to her brother who hates to learn. And he
needed the education that Florence desired far more than he, and that she might have got if he had
not been born. She should take all the responsibilities and do all the works at home as a woman.
And she [mother] wanted Florence, also, to be content helping with the washing, and fixing meals
and keeping Gabriel quiet... Florence was a girl, and all the duties of a woman; and this being
so, her life in the cabin was the best possible preparation for her future life. Her mother has
different attitudes toward her and her brother. Gabriel was the apple of his mother s eye. If he
had never been born, Florence might have looked forward to a day when she would be released

The Business Process Model
Business Process Model
Business Process Model is a set of technologies and standards for the design, execution,
administration, and monitoring of business processes. (Havey 2005)
There are some benefits for using a process model. Firstly, it can improve process
communication. To succeed in a business, members of a firm should have a distinct idea of the
daily tasks. For example, who is the one to bring the products of CMP to major distributors and
how the products brought to the market. A clear communication is important in operation. It can
help members of CMP to understand their ideas clearly and quickly. This will improve business
processes and also increase productivity of members when they are doing their work.
Furthermore, process model also helps in consistency. Consistency is one of the keys to succeed in
business. Such as, implement process in consistent manner and then give the documented process
to the members so they can remember to do the right thing. This can help our company to make
better decisions and we can have the business rule documented down to avoid further confusion.
For instance, members of CMP can resolve problem in a better and efficient way.... Show more

productivity of resources and members that can allow CMP to produce more product than before.
Hence improving operational efficiencies is important to CMP. As a manufacturing company, it can

The Andes Mountains Of Bolivia
In the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, in a far, tucked away corner lay a beautiful green field. This
place had a family living on it who were very hard workers, but they also were very poor. There

father and his son would get up just before the crack of dawn and would work until lunch and then

A New Relationship in the Works After Obama and Castro Meet in Cuba
On March 21, 2016, President Barack Obama delivered a joint press conference with Cuban
President Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace in Havana. Obama is the first United States
president to visit Cuba in nearly a century. Having it been the first official contact between their two
governments in an extraordinarily long time, the two engaged in awkwardly blunt exchanges
throughout the press conference. Both mentioned that they were committed to continuing on a path
to normalizing relations. Although this was mentioned, there was an underlying hostility between
the two as they criticized each other s countries throughout the press conference.
A reporter asked Castro about the dissidents his government has arrested and he replied by saying,
Give me a list of the political prisoners and I will release them immediately. Just mention the list.
What political prisoners? There was an uproar of human rights groups after this comment; however,
Castro tried to turn the human rights criticism to the United States. He stated that ... Show more

and hoopla because it both exaggerated its findings and stated simply facts in its political
stories. Factual detail appeared evident when it covered stories about how Trump s travel ban
was blocked, Trump declared an opioid crisis, and the President is not visiting the DMZ. Hoopla
occurred when it covered stories about other politicians calling Trump bizarre, politicians
criticizing another over Twitter, and Trump s endless statements about engaging in conflict with
other politicians. Additionally, Univision produces hoopla in its top political stories, where it
overemphasizes Trump s mistakes and his administrations mistakes as well as how his efforts are
negatively impacting people. After completing research on the two news sources, ABC news and
Univision, there appeared several significant findings from it. By comparing ABC news and

Summary Of The Four Idols Of Bacon And Cultural...
Four Idols of Bacon and Cultural Misunderstanding
Introduction
In the Humanistic Tradition the author, Gloria Fiero introduces Francis Bacon as an English
scientist and politician. Bacon known as the leading advocate of the empirical method, is best
known for his work Novum Organum. Fiero looks at Bacon s work because of the importance
of these four classes of Idols. The four classes of idols in Bacon s method are Idols of the Tribe,
Idols of the Cave, Idols of the Marketplace, and Idols of the Theatre. Fiero states, A prophet of the
new learning, he sought to eliminate errors in reasoning derived from blind adherence to
traditional sources of authority and religious beliefs (The Humanistic Tradition page 115). In other
words, Bacon creates a new method that is based on science rather than religious beliefs. This is
essential due to the fact that hypothesis can be validated. In the film Dear White People written,
directed, and co produced by Justin Simien discusses racial tension in prestigious and
predominately white colleges, from a minority perspective. Thus, correlates with the four Idols of
Francis Bacon. A non colored minority student named Kurt, son of the school s president, Garmin

that an effective global cooperation is almost impossible or most times very complex to establish

Since year 2000, there have been several international collaborative efforts which has given rise to
the establishment of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, Pandemic Influenza

wrong. This was due to that the symptoms are similar to other diseases and most developing
nations lack the medical resources used in carrying out the tests. WHO alongside its collaborating

The Benefits Of Peaceful Protests
With the recent election and the noticeable division in our country today, it is worth noting the
benefits of a peaceful protest compared the most violent of protests. Does even the strongest
person have any control over a government if they cannot exhibit their self control? Is a
government going to listen to a bunch of violent citizens or a group of young people standing
against a law with signs? Throughout history it is shown that positive resistance to laws positively

Because of the increased violence, more laws and restrictions will be set in place to take charge
of the people. If a government is too focused on enforcing laws to stop violence, then the free
society that the people are living in soon turns to be more controlling. Keeping a free society relies
on the government focusing on the needs of the people not the needs of the government; if
violence were to be the people s solution, government would not be able to focus on the needs of
the people, but the need to fix the destruction being caused. Martin Luther King Jr. states that
creative tension needs to be implemented in order for a community that has constantly refused to
negotiate is forced to confront the issue. The ideas of Martin Luther King Jr. and his peaceful
resistance is the creative part of it all. Turn resistance into something positive, and the government
will have to respond with care and diligence to mimic its people. Having the government confront

Irrationality And Rationality
Explore how Arthur Miller portrays the conflict between emotionality and rationality through Eddie
s struggle between right and wrong in A View from the Bridge
A View from the Bridge is the story of a man, Eddie Carbone, who falls in love with his niece. He
has a hard choice to make between possible happiness through this forbidden, unrequited love and
propriety with his wife. As a retelling, this play s plot is not what makes it so notoriously well
praised. Rather, it is the depth Arthur Miller brings to the protagonist s character through his
struggle between his emotions and his logic. This is an analysis of how the playwright achieved
this complex portrayal.
Miller starts by introducing Normal Eddie, a version of the protagonist not ... Show more content on

In denying his emotionality, an essential part of himself, he is driven to irrationality. A clear
example of this self suppression is seen towards the end of the text, wherein his wife, Beatrice, tells
Eddie that the truth is not as bad as blood [...] Eddie, crying out in agony: That s what you think of
me that I would have such a thought? His fists clench his head as though it will burst. In this
situation, Beatrice is trying to convince Eddie not to fight one of the illegal immigrants having
denounced him for calling the Immigration Bureau. The truth is an allusion to the root of this
tumultuous situation his feelings for his niece. The atmosphere is foreboding, punctuated by the
metonymy of blood for argument or fight . This line is dark, pessimistically foreshadowing the
calamitous end to the play. The ameliorative comparison between this blood and Eddie s truth is
meant as assurance that his love, whilst incestuous, is not nearly as horrendous as it could be,
and as he believes it to be. However, this only agitates Eddie more, heightening the perilous
atmosphere of the scene. This is seen through the stage direction crying out in agony . The word
agony is peculiar, as the expected emotion here would be anger, for the protagonist had been
ready to fight moments ago. This is shocking to the reader, since this is the first real
confirmation of Eddie s absolute erraticism. Moreover, this struggle is emphasised by the word
crying , as it shows his anguish is heightened to the point of screaming. And yet, his rhetorical
question reveals only disgust at Beatrice s perceptions. This provides an ironic, queerly comical
contrast. This contrast is akin to gallows humour, in that it makes light of a depressing scene
Eddie is so entrenched in his desperate need to regain rationality after his crucial betrayal that he
still clings to his lies. Hyperbolically, he denies even having had

Difference Between Organic And Inorganic Growth
To grow a company could choose between two ways: by organic or inorganic growth.
With an organic growth, as the words itself could state, the company grows in a spontaneous way:
by increasing its output and increasing its sales. This would happen in many ways, i.e. with an
increase of employee, with the development of a new product or the opening of a new factory in
different places. As an example, a food manufacturing company can open different factory across
the Europe to bring its product to a different country, and grow every year with the new revenue
generated by the new markets. Another way would be by creating a new product: since the
market may be saturated with the old ones, and sales may be fixed from a lot of time, a new
product could create curiosity and help sell more.
With an inorganic growth, a company has to expand itself by merging other companies. Inorganic
growth is much complex and difficult, but if performed in a professional and careful way, it could
result in a significant boost for all the players involved in the acquisition.
Inorganic growth can be split into two different categories: horizontal and vertical integration. With
a horizontal integration, who similar companies join their forces to create a better service for their
customers. For example, a food company like NetslГЁ bought San Pellegrino in 1997 to expand
their mineral water worldwide.
With a vertical integration, two companies that offer different products in the same production
process,

The Origin Of The Land
Enticingly, the Spanish colonists came to this land with a passionate goal to develop the land
and extract its natural resources for their profit. To this day, the Spanish s action on this land has
brought prosperity and has propagated California to be the leading roles in the innovation of new
technologies and the production of movies. Despite of having this reputation, people seldom
discuss on the origin of the land. When the Spanish came, the Indian are the inhabitants of the
land; ruling the land and surviving with all the natural resource. As history is depicted by the
victor, the fate of the right owner of the land has always been untold. Their once peaceful time
had ceased to continue as the Spanish colonized and stole the land from the Indian. Trickeries and
militaries were used by the colonists to exploit the land for their benefits. The Indian population
begin to decline as the newcomers were [gobbling] up native foods and undermined the free or
gentile tribes efforts to remain economically independent and the outbreak epidemic of European
diseases had declined 60% of the population of mission Indians (Castillo). To not disremember the
suffering of their people, poems like Indian Cartographyby Deborah Miranda and Itch Like Crazy:
Resistance by Wendy Rose are composed to capture their heart breaking moments and to disclose
their suffering to the world, but both poems have a different goals: Indian Cartography emphasizes

CRM software applications support the automation of these processes and best practices.
CRM consists of some prominent features according to Margaret Rouse:
1.Identify the best key customers and then target them with further offerings. Not only has this but
also helps in making quality service by the CRM team.
2.It makes communication very easy. For example when a customer has all his information saved
in the CRM software, hence whenever he calls for a delivery all information of his will be
displayed like address, mobile number etc. The delivery team will not waste time on asking such
questions he would rather pay attention to the service.
3.CRM helps in achieving customer satisfaction
4.A strong relation can be built and also this information can be passed on to the distributors to
make them aware of their customers needs.
Jay Ivey has explained what CRM software basically has:

Case Study On Early Childhood Development
Introduction
According to Merriam Webster dictionary (1828), observation is an act of recognizing and noting
a fact or occurrence. Observation in Early Childhood is important so teachers are able to meet
developmental needs of young children through evaluation and assessment. The purpose of this
case study is to observe the characteristics and behaviors of a child s stages of development in an
early childhood class; the child s dominant stages of play would also be highlighted based on
Parten s stages of play. Activities and strategies would also be recommended to improve areas in
which the child can be assisted. These areas would be the cognitive, affective and psychomotor
domains. Demographics

skills according to Piaget s preoperational stage of development in cognitive development of
young children. In this preoperational stage that ranges between children two (2) to six (6)

The Role Of Alexander Kerensky In The February Revolution...
The year 1917 was a historic year in Russian history. It saw two revolutions, in February and in
October. The February Revolution resulted in the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II and the
suppression of the Romanov monarchy. In October, the Bolshevik Party took over the reins of
government in the October Revolution, establishing the world s first socialist state. There has been
an intense debate regarding the role of key individuals Alexander Kerensky and Vladimir Leninin
the events of 1917, and the role of other factors, such as the economy, the First World War and
public opinion. I believe that Kerensky was more significant in this year because of his failures
and his mistakes. It could be argued that Kerensky acted as a catalyst towards... Show more content

His response was to arrest the leading Bolsheviks, however some went into exile just as Lenin did
as he escaped to Finland. In further retaliation, Kerensky appointed General Kornilov as head of the
army with the task of suppressing the left. Kornilov decided that it was time to deal with the
revolutionaries and to establish a strong government in Russia. Also Kornilov wanted the Tsar back
in power which contradicted what Kerensky wanted. Therefore it leads me to believe that this
was poor judgement by Kerensky and it shows how he was indirectly linked to him. Kornilov
ordered the Cossacks to march on Petrograd. Kerensky panicked and asked the Bolsheviks for
help. The Bolsheviks agreed and so Kerensky armed the Bolshevik red guards with rifles.
However, Kornilov s troops never arrived in Petrograd as the railway workers stopped the trains
so the Cossacks couldn t get to Petrograd. It is quite impossible for me to betray Russia into the
hands of her ancient enemy, the German race, and to turn the Russian people into German slaves.
Here, Kornilov described Russia s contribution in worldWar I as anobligation to prevent the
Russian people from being confined by Germany. Although the Cossacks couldn t get to Petrograd,
the red guards kept the rifles which were given to them by Kerensky and they would later be used
in the October revolution. Consequently, it is clear that Kerensky had a key role in 1917, holding
important government positions and ultimately losing the support of both the left and the right,
allowing the Bolsheviks to take power. Not only was Kerensky s lack of knowledge of the
ideologies Kornilov had his failure, but also the fact that he armed the opposition. From the point
Kerensky armed the red guards it was inevitable that a different leader would emerge, either
Kornilov or

Akkadian Culture
The Akkadian Culture
The Akkadians were the people of the dominate culture that succeeded the Sumerians the first
dominant Mesopotamian culture. The period of Akkadian centralized governance took place
from 2350 2150 B.C.E and for this period the Akkadians resided in Akkad, the city from which
they were named. Akkad was the Akkadian capital city that was chosen by the first Akkadian
King, King Sargon. King Sargon reigned from 2334 2279 B.C.E and he was seen as the greatest
leader in the Akkadian Dynasty. Sargon is regarded in this manner because he was the first king in
Mesopotamian history to ever unite the region of the Fertile Crescent (upper and lower

Although they altered the language used they continued to use Sumerian cuneiform, for record

beliefs changed minimally from the Sumerian s belief system. The Sumerian gods An, Enlil, Enki,
continued into Akkadian religion but, there was a name change An became Anu; Enlil became Bel;
and Enki became Ea. The Akkadians also put a great emphasis on the god Shamash who was the
sun god, he was a very important god as their agriculture lifestyles depended on him. Apart from
these things the Akkadians were very similar to the Sumerians. Before Sargon was a king he was
first a cup bearer King Ur Zababa of Kish at a time when Kish was a significant city. Sargon
usurped the king s power and assumed for himself the title as king; Sargon s name means the

Hamlet s Frustration Essay
Hamlet s Frustration
In order to understand Hamlet, we must understand his frustration. This frustration is most clear in
his famous monologue, famously beginning with the line Oh what a rogue and peasant slave am I.
This self condemnation is contrasted by his admiration for the actor of the previous scene, who in a
fiction is able to force his soul to his own conceit. The word soul is an example of metonymy, as
the soul represents the actor s visage, tears, distraction, and voice. Thus Hamlet equates soul with
one s actions, so by his own comparison his soul is weak, as he does not take action against the
king. The second sentence is furthermore a rhetorical question, beginning with, Is it notЕ So clearly
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of being pregnant Hamlet instead admits he can say nothing. Ironically, the same word
was used earlier to describe the actor s cause ( for nothing,/for Hecuba ). Hamlet thus feels
completely impotent in his situation, like a slave. He rhetorically asks himself, Am I a coward?
From cowardice, humiliation results, as Hamlet in his mind s eye is being taunted by Claudius,
who is calling him a villain. The word villain is especially ironic, since clearly Claudius is the
villain, the murderer, and also since a villain is often meant to mean the antagonist of a play. Thus
in a sense it is Hamlet who is the antagonist of the play, working against his noble instincts. Then
Hamlet describes what Claudius does to him, metaphorically breaking his pate across, and plucking
out his beard, to blow it in his face.
These images of humiliation make one imagine a slave master belittling his slave or an abusive
parent scolding his child. Then he decides he deserves this humiliation, saying swounds, I should
take it since he is pigeon livered and lack[s] gall. This is in violent contrast to what Hamlet
would do or should have done: fatted all the region kites with the slave s offal, which is what
Hamlet feels Claudius deserves. The word slave is ironic since this is what Hamlet feels he himself
is, indicating that the roles

Ethical and Religious Article Reviews
Seow, C. L. Homosexuality and Christian Community. Louisville, Ky: Westminster John Knox
Press, 1996.
In his article Relations Natural and Unnatural, Richard B. Hays states that after deciding what Paul
thought concerning homosexuality, we should still decide how to construe the authority of his
opinion in the present time. There are many open questions about how the bible functions as an
authority for normative ethical judgments. We cannot ease ourselves of the obligation for moral
decision by engaging to the plain sense of single proof text, but on the flip side, should we feel
constrained to pressure Paul, through exegetical scowls, to verbalize what we cerebrate he ought to
have verbalized. We must let the text have its verbally express, and then we must choose what
obedience to God requires. Also the article express how the heated debate triggers questions that are
concerning the possible misuse of the biblical teachings as in the edifications that are used in later
historical settings.

Scotland Act 1998 Essay
The Parliament of the United Kingdom and the Scottish Parliament are the main sources of law in
Scotland. However, the Scotland Act 1998 and the Human Rights Act 1998 are two pieces of
legislation, produced by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which have had a significant
impact on the development of the law in Scotland. They have made important changes to how law
is made in Scotland and how the Scottish legal system works. This essay aims to examine what it
is these Acts are intended to do, and discuss the impact they have had on the development of law in
Scotland.

Parliament, including health, education, the legal system, national heritage, housing, local

Scotland Act 1998 also provides that the Scottish Government can change the basic rate of income

Parliament. Therefore, the Scottish Parliament may legislate for any issue which is not a reserved

Parliament may create legislation, however it also means that the Scottish Parliament may only

The Changing Nature of Crime and Law Enforcement
Law enforcement agencies nationwide must constantly adapt to the changing nature of crime and
the ways criminals must be prosecuted. New dangers like terrorism, as well as old ones, such as
public corruption, threaten the public and force police agencies to acclimate themselves to this new
environment. President Clinton explained the need for the development of the federal and local
law enforcement agencies.
We have begun to find a way to reduce crime, forming community partnerships with local police
forces to catch criminals and prevent crime. This strategy, called community policing, is clearly
working. But we still have a long way to go before our streets are safe and our people are free from

White Collar crime entails illegal actions committed by upper class people and businesses. In the
past crimes like fraud, embezzlement, income tax evasion, and abuse of political and legal powers
were treated by authorities more than typical crimes.
Historically, most white collar criminals were simply fired or fined. Rarely were jail sentences
imposed let alone served. This leniency stemmed from the perception that a high status individual
implicated in criminal activity was sufficiently punished by the loss of their social stature and
partly from the fact that most white collar crimes are so called victimless offenses. Only recently
has this attitude begun to change. White collar crime has become an increasing problem in the
latter part of the twentieth century. Authorities in the U.S., in particular, are dealing more severely
with such crimes. Identity theft has been a problem facing police departments recently. It is a
crime in which someone obtains and uses another person s personal information in a way that
involves fraud. In the United States and Canada, for example, many people have reported that
unauthorized people have taken money out of their bank. In 1998 Congress made identity theft a
federal offense to therefore create stricter penalties for these criminals. Police agencies all over the
country must constantly adjust to the shifting nature of crime and the ways criminals will be

  • 3. Rear Window Gender Stereotypes Alfred Hitchcock s 1954 movie Rear Window captivates the audience by presenting a thrilling murder mystery, where Jeff Jefferies, the masculine hero, is confined to a wheel chair in his apartment, which leads to the spying on his neighbors. In the movie, Hitchcock beautifully captures the turn of events from Jeff s wrongful surveillance of his neighbors, to catching the killer. His examination of the idea of surveillance and privacy, plays into the current American debate of the rise of the surveillance debate. Hitchcock s movie also falls into a traditional pattern where men are the active dominant roles and women are the submissive, background roles. Consequently, I believe that women are not a part of the rise of surveillance state conversation,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These differences are not highlighted during the movie. However, they remain key in our understanding of how each gender understands and plays a role in the rise of surveillance debate. One major factor of why there is such a heavily male presence in the surveillance the debate, is the idea the men are able to think quick on their feet and remain calm. This can be seen when Jeff was not visibly distraught as the killer was approaching him. This increases the societal stigma that men are able to remain calm, in a time of stress, or danger, and come up with solutions, whereas women are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Evolutionary Drive Is Sexual Selection Biological Perspective Certain factors which may contribute to honor killings stem from biology, specifically from evolutionary drives. One such drive is sexual selection. According to Charles Darwin, animals including humans might choose their mates based on specific traits which they find attractive. In human males, appealing physical traits involve height and masculinity. Psychological characteristics would include sexual aggressiveness. Aggression is therefore more liable to be passed down to the next generation and to modern males, making them exceedingly likely to assert their control over women (Goldstein, 2002). Another related drive is that of paternal certainty. Males of any species generally want to ensure that the offspring of females with which they have reproduced are, in fact, theirs. The concept of paternal certainty guarantees that males assure their genetics are passed down. The fact that female fidelity within sexual relationships would sanction for greater paternal certainty, whereas male fidelity would not do the same has led to social norms of harsher punishments for female adultery as well as norms of patriarchal control. Likewise, it elucidates the behavior which is used to control women (Goldstein, 2002). Psychological Factors In addition to biological contributors, it remains likely for psychological factors to influence the likelihood of committing honor based violence. For instance, those who commit honor crimes tend to show a specific type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Second Sex I n today s society, the human body is placed on a pedestal for the world to critique. Both women and men are seen as individuals that are supposed to act, dress, and look a certain way. If they falter, they are seen as strange and sometimes called names; this is especially true for women. According to society, man is womans better half, and many philosophers have shown interest in this correlation. Beauvoir, in her book The Second Sex, she talks about how women are the other and are seen as being less than men are. Also, Young explains in her paper, Throwing Like a Girl, how men and women approach certain obstacles differently. Along with Young s, paper a company called Always made a promo #LikeAGirl and put into practice what Young states in her paper. Though these philosophers and company have tried to push for woman equality, other companies, such as Hardies, have stopped their efforts. So why do we see women as the lesser half? It is because, how we see the humanbody, particularly women, is in direct correlation to where and how we are raised. Before you can describe what the difference between men and women is, you must first understand what it means to be a woman. As Beauvoir explains in her book The Second Sex, Everyone agrees there are females in the human species; today, as in the past, they make up about half of humanity; and yet we are told that femininity is in jeopardy ; we are urged, be woman, stay woman, become woman. So not every female human being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Dialectical Model Of Identity Formation In Don s lecture, he discusses the dialectical model of Identity formation, which includes three components or circles that interact. The subjective reality, the objective reality and Indigenous objective reality. Subjective reality is the individual s identity that is comprised of someone s thoughts and feelings. Objective reality is outside of the self, encompassing the culturein mainstream society, such as institutions, history, capitalism and rules. The indigenous objective reality is influenced by both mainstream society and Aboriginal culture. People s feelings and behaviours are likely to mimic those of the urban people around them. There are two process that occur, externalization and internalization. Externalization is the process of taking a thought and projecting it to the objective reality. For example, an individual will externalize their Indigenous culture to school by bringing traditions from home like dances and teaching them to students. Externalizing can also happen from mainstream society to the Indigenous culture by bringing what is learned at school to back to the family. Internalization is how the individual s subjective reality is affected by the surrounding institutions through rules, norms, etc. Therefore, they internalize the Indigenous culture through family traditions, and Internalize mainstream society through the media, school rules, etc. Early Europeans thought that it was impossible for Indigenous peoples to participate in the modern world ... I will not quit even though the world tells me to stop, I will not stop. I will hold it wide open till I die. This quote was written by Garrett George. While most people find their happiness in painting or video games or even common sports like basketball, soccer, and baseball, I find mine in motocross. It s music to my ears. It s a way of life, a passion... it s everything to me. Life is about finding what you love and letting it kill you. You can t do that! You re a girl! I ended up tearing the LCL in my right knee after being tripped in a game. The injury required surgery to fix the tear so I could walk again and nine months of therapy to recover, costing about $25,000. Over the period of absence from racing, I played soccer until 11th grade because I tore my IT band in my hip and then competed on the bowling team my senior year. Over the years, I found myself a stable job and began saving up. I always tried to distract myself from the thoughts of racing again, but the passion was burning and I couldn t resist the temptation. This past summer, I drove to Old Appleton, Missouri, to visit my friend Jared. While I was there Jared and I went to ride at a track called Sky High since we used to race together when we were younger. Ever since that day, motocross is all I can think about.. With the little free time I do have due to being in college and working full time, I have found myself jumping head first back into doing what I love, racing. Many people have told me that I would never get back to the top when it comes to racing. They tell me that I ll never be able to make anything out of racing. I believe in myself and I am confident that I can. When people, say these put downs, it encourages me to train even harder and do everything I can to make sure I never lose the thing I love again. Now, those people look at me and wish they knew what was going on in my mind that pushed me to prove them wrong. • 10. Erickson Reflection This week we learned about Erickson and his theory on development. Erikson studied under the Freud method, but unlike Freud, Erikson actually did research on infants and children as they were developing. I really enjoyed learning about Erikson considering I have a 5 month old at home growing away. It was interesting to compare these videos to where my baby was in development. Another interesting thing about this module was the James Marcia Identity Status which consists of 4 parts foreclosure, achievement, diffusion, and moratorium. Diffusion is when you have not really made a commitment to anything yet. This is typically a high school junior/senior or even college freshman/sophomore. They have not yet figured out what they want to do with life yet and honestly, aren t too worried about. In my diffusion score I received a 5 meaning I guess I am in the middle. I m not too sure if I agree with this accusation or not, but maybe that is why I scored this number. Although I had my career path figured out and I was on the path to it up until a few months ago I feel as though I have started testing the waters in other areas now. These areas are still very close to what my original plan was. Now that I have a family I am focused more now than ever to pick the perfect career for not just me, but my family. I feel as though I have always been well organized planned women, but throwing a baby, husband, and other life changing circumstances into the mix has lead me to this spot ... Archeology In Raiders Of The Lost Ark Definition of Archeology Uninformed people might think that archaeology is the stuff of Indiana Jones, the character played by Harrison Ford in the classic 1981 Movie entitled Raiders of the Lost Ark. In this movie, Jones was an adventurer and so called archaeologist who sought a golden idol. Jones did not proceed in an orderly, scientific fashion, nor record the surroundings, location, or precise measurements. • 14. Love At First Sight In Romeo And Juliet Throughout Shakespearean works, love at first sight is a commonly used theme seen in many plays. Specifically, in the play Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters seem to experience the moment of love at first sight. The concept, however, poses an issue in the fact the characters quickly become obsessed with the person they are in lovewith. The characters quickly becoming so infatuated leads to the idea of love being based on surface level beauty and one s physical attraction to another rather than a deeper, more meaningful connection. In William Shakespeare s tragedy Romeo and Juliet true love is portrayed as an infatuation based on pure attraction seen in Romeo s obsession with Rosaline even though he barely spoke with her, Paris wish to marry Juliet despite never actually spending time with her, and Romeo and Juliet s haste in moving forward in their relationship without knowing anything about one another. While there is no agreement of a full blown communist or socialist revolution, a la Karl Marx, there is agreement that there should be slight changes towards this idea of equality. According to the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, a social contract (theory) is the view that persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live (Friend). The current American contract is debatable, and the exact definition depends on each person individually. The Great Depression affected people all over the United States of America and the people of the town of Bedford, Virginia perhaps worse than many others. Bedford, in the time before the Great Depression, had an economy that was primarily based upon agriculture. One family from Bedford, the Stevens boys, was an example of the people who were financially destabilized by the Depression (Kershaw 2003, 10). The banks often foreclosed on lands which had been in the hands of local families for generations, making scores of people homeless and without employment. Female empowerment for pop singer Kesha has been a constant throughout her songs, albeit sometimes raunchy or dirty like in her early years. Those songs that are supposed to be empowering but are still sort of perverse show how there is actually a hidden ideology about what it means to be an empowered woman. However, that hidden ideology is often undercut but the initial interpretation or reading of the work. While Kesha s female power anthem Woman highlights being independent of a man, it actually highlights how women and their independence is undermined by continuously being compared to what men can do and using standards brought about by the heteronormative categorization of woman. From the beginning of Kesha s hit song, she exclaims that she is independent because she buys her own things and pays her own bills. It certainly is empowering for women to be proud of earning their money without any help, and it should be seen as a sign of independence. What is so great about her first verse is that she actually accomplishes all of those things, so she has some credibility behind her words. They believe the gods wishes man to be in control, and so if man is fundamentally flawed, then the gods are responsible for engendering the situation. Ishmael refuses to accept this premise, saying that the only thing wrong with humans is that the story that they insist on enacting puts them at odds with the world. They agree that a law of limited competition exists amongst all species on Earth, and only man has taken exception to that law. In short, this law suggests that any species may protect and look out for itself, but cannot wipe out another species. A natural food chain must persist. I flew about 8 Miles to the Lake Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, here there was a flat looking area where the sandbar once existed when the lake was here. I prepped the plane for an emergency landing and started my decent, I eased the back wheels down first, emitting a loud ear piercing squeak, as the plane started to sink down into the sand, causing the back wheels to drift. When the plane started to slow, I let the front wheel down onto the sand, slowly reaching my hand up to the emergency exit above, located on the ceiling in the cockpit. Obama And Castro Relationship Analysis A New Relationship in the Works After Obama and Castro Meet in Cuba On March 21, 2016, President Barack Obama delivered a joint press conference with Cuban President Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace in Havana. Obama is the first United States president to visit Cuba in nearly a century. Having it been the first official contact between their two governments in an extraordinarily long time, the two engaged in awkwardly blunt exchanges throughout the press conference. Both mentioned that they were committed to continuing on a path to normalizing relations. Although this was mentioned, there was an underlying hostility between the two as they criticized each other s countries throughout the press conference. A reporter asked Castro about the dissidents his government has arrested and he replied by saying, Give me a list of the political prisoners and I will release them immediately. Just mention the list. What political prisoners? There was an uproar of human rights groups after this comment; however, Castro tried to turn the human rights criticism to the United States. Factual detail appeared evident when it covered stories about how Trump s travel ban was blocked, Trump declared an opioid crisis, and the President is not visiting the DMZ. Hoopla occurred when it covered stories about other politicians calling Trump bizarre, politicians criticizing another over Twitter, and Trump s endless statements about engaging in conflict with other politicians. Additionally, Univision produces hoopla in its top political stories, where it overemphasizes Trump s mistakes and his administrations mistakes as well as how his efforts are negatively impacting people. Four Idols of Bacon and Cultural Misunderstanding Introduction In the Humanistic Tradition the author, Gloria Fiero introduces Francis Bacon as an English scientist and politician. Bacon known as the leading advocate of the empirical method, is best known for his work Novum Organum. Fiero looks at Bacon s work because of the importance of these four classes of Idols. The four classes of idols in Bacon s method are Idols of the Tribe, Idols of the Cave, Idols of the Marketplace, and Idols of the Theatre. Fiero states, A prophet of the new learning, he sought to eliminate errors in reasoning derived from blind adherence to traditional sources of authority and religious beliefs (The Humanistic Tradition page 115). In other words, Bacon creates a new method that is based on science rather than religious beliefs. This is essential due to the fact that hypothesis can be validated. Irrationality And Rationality Explore how Arthur Miller portrays the conflict between emotionality and rationality through Eddie s struggle between right and wrong in A View from the Bridge A View from the Bridge is the story of a man, Eddie Carbone, who falls in love with his niece. He has a hard choice to make between possible happiness through this forbidden, unrequited love and propriety with his wife. As a retelling, this play s plot is not what makes it so notoriously well praised. This is an analysis of how the playwright achieved this complex portrayal. Miller starts by introducing Normal Eddie, a version of the protagonist not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In denying his emotionality, an essential part of himself, he is driven to irrationality. A clear example of this self suppression is seen towards the end of the text, wherein his wife, Beatrice, tells Eddie that the truth is not as bad as blood [...] Eddie, crying out in agony: That s what you think of me that I would have such a thought? His fists clench his head as though it will burst. In this situation, Beatrice is trying to convince Eddie not to fight one of the illegal immigrants having denounced him for calling the Immigration Bureau. The truth is an allusion to the root of this tumultuous situation his feelings for his niece. The atmosphere is foreboding, punctuated by the metonymy of blood for argument or fight . This line is dark, pessimistically foreshadowing the calamitous end to the play. The ameliorative comparison between this blood and Eddie s truth is meant as assurance that his love, whilst incestuous, is not nearly as horrendous as it could be, and as he believes it to be. However, this only agitates Eddie more, heightening the perilous atmosphere of the scene. This is seen through the stage direction crying out in agony . The word agony is peculiar, as the expected emotion here would be anger, for the protagonist had been ready to fight moments ago. This is shocking to the reader, since this is the first real confirmation of Eddie s absolute erraticism. Moreover, this struggle is emphasised by the word crying , as it shows his anguish is heightened to the point of screaming. And yet, his rhetorical question reveals only disgust at Beatrice s perceptions. This provides an ironic, queerly comical contrast. This contrast is akin to gallows humour, in that it makes light of a depressing scene Eddie is so entrenched in his desperate need to regain rationality after his crucial betrayal that he still clings to his lies. • 46. Difference Between Organic And Inorganic Growth To grow a company could choose between two ways: by organic or inorganic growth. With an organic growth, as the words itself could state, the company grows in a spontaneous way: by increasing its output and increasing its sales. This would happen in many ways, i.e. with an increase of employee, with the development of a new product or the opening of a new factory in different places. As an example, a food manufacturing company can open different factory across the Europe to bring its product to a different country, and grow every year with the new revenue generated by the new markets. Another way would be by creating a new product: since the market may be saturated with the old ones, and sales may be fixed from a lot of time, a new product could create curiosity and help sell more. With an inorganic growth, a company has to expand itself by merging other companies. Inorganic growth is much complex and difficult, but if performed in a professional and careful way, it could result in a significant boost for all the players involved in the acquisition. Inorganic growth can be split into two different categories: horizontal and vertical integration. With a horizontal integration, who similar companies join their forces to create a better service for their customers. For example, a food company like NetslГЁ bought San Pellegrino in 1997 to expand their mineral water worldwide. Kornilov decided that it was time to deal with the revolutionaries and to establish a strong government in Russia. Also Kornilov wanted the Tsar back in power which contradicted what Kerensky wanted. Therefore it leads me to believe that this was poor judgement by Kerensky and it shows how he was indirectly linked to him. Kornilov ordered the Cossacks to march on Petrograd. Kerensky panicked and asked the Bolsheviks for help. The Bolsheviks agreed and so Kerensky armed the Bolshevik red guards with rifles. However, Kornilov s troops never arrived in Petrograd as the railway workers stopped the trains so the Cossacks couldn t get to Petrograd. It is quite impossible for me to betray Russia into the hands of her ancient enemy, the German race, and to turn the Russian people into German slaves. Here, Kornilov described Russia s contribution in worldWar I as anobligation to prevent the Russian people from being confined by Germany. Although the Cossacks couldn t get to Petrograd, the red guards kept the rifles which were given to them by Kerensky and they would later be used in the October revolution. Consequently, it is clear that Kerensky had a key role in 1917, holding important government positions and ultimately losing the support of both the left and the right, allowing the Bolsheviks to take power. This frustration is most clear in his famous monologue, famously beginning with the line Oh what a rogue and peasant slave am I. This self condemnation is contrasted by his admiration for the actor of the previous scene, who in a fiction is able to force his soul to his own conceit. The word soul is an example of metonymy, as the soul represents the actor s visage, tears, distraction, and voice. From cowardice, humiliation results, as Hamlet in his mind s eye is being taunted by Claudius, who is calling him a villain. The word villain is especially ironic, since clearly Claudius is the villain, the murderer, and also since a villain is often meant to mean the antagonist of a play. Thus in a sense it is Hamlet who is the antagonist of the play, working against his noble instincts. Then Hamlet describes what Claudius does to him, metaphorically breaking his pate across, and plucking out his beard, to blow it in his face. These images of humiliation make one imagine a slave master belittling his slave or an abusive parent scolding his child. Then he decides he deserves this humiliation, saying swounds, I should take it since he is pigeon livered and lack[s] gall.
