The Nine Doctrines of War Essay
Surprise The nine doctrines of war are intertwined and dependent on each other. The doctrines used in
war are relative to the situation, which is always in flux. They must be used at the most precise time
that is right for the situation. Each doctrine of war is vital, but one can never stand on its own. Speed
and deception are often employed to further insure the desired effects. People use some form of
deception every day. Whether they are playing some type of game, trying to win the love of their life,
or trying to win big bucks, deception is everywhere. Surprise is important in developing the course of
a battle, having a successful business or sports team, and winning political campaigns, but it is
ineffective if it is not backed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surprise is key in sports because teams need deception to trick the other team. If sports teams apply
deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security is
important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split his
forces. To set up the deception, the British needed the body of a man who appeared to have died by
drowning. They found a man who had died of pneumonia in London. The British created a false
identity for the body as a major in the army. The dead man s wrist was handcuffed to a briefcase
containing British coded documents pertaining to the upcoming invasion of Sardinia and Crete. The
body was dumped overboard near the coast of Spain and Portugal and was washed up on shore.
Churchill knew the Germans had the British code, and messages were sent to indicate the Allies plan
was to attack Crete and Sardinia instead of Sicily. Hitler left soldiers in Sicily, but he split his forces
and sent some to Crete and Sardinia. The Allied plan to attack Sicily did not go as well as hoped. The
night the British and Americans spearheaded the attack the wind was blowing forty mph. The
Americans landed fifty five miles from their target and many drowned. When the ground invasion
came ashore between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., it was still dark, and the Allies could not quite see
where they were coming ashore They had hoped the Germans and Italians would all be gone. As

History of South Africa
South Africans had been living under the system of apartheid since 1948 where citizens were divided
by race and kept separate through certain system of laws which governed all aspects of daily life.
Even though black people were in majority they were denied the right to vote in National elections.
The educational system was designed not to educate young blacks into professionals but to prepare
them to serve white upper class. Apartheid went further to divide the schools into racial groups
therefore the white schools were so advantaged within resources compared to the black schools within
the town of Soweto. Government also insisted that the Afrikaans language be used as the medium in
all local schools which created enormous distress amongst black students. Many divisions between
black and white took place in society. The black people found themselves infuriated by the fact that
they were slaves in their own country of birth.
It was back in 1962 that Nelson Mandela that the leader of the anti apartheid movement was arrested
and his political party the African National Congress were banned by Government. The African
National Congress then chose to ignore Government and continued with their movements over the
next two years. Finally government had to use brutal action against the anti apartheid command which
brought the entire movement to a complete standstill.
Shortly after this standstill the young students in the township of Soweto Johannesburg managed to
steadily reunite

Closure of Public OHV Areas Essay
Closure of Public OHV Areas
Some years ago a new form of recreation came about known as an Off Highway Vehicle(OHV). Today
these high powered, light weight vehicles come in many forms with anywhere from four to two
wheels. There are many areas across the United States for such vehicles to be driven but as of today
there are some groups out there who wish to close the areas in which these vehicles can be used. One
area in particular, located outside of Yuma on the California and Arizona border has been subjected to
many threats recently and those who use the land for its recreational purposes have had to fight to
keep the land that was originally granted to them for use by the US government. This one area is what
many would call a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are no valid points brought to light by the CBD to logically explain why the imperial sand
dunes outside of Yuma need to be closed to off road use. To look into this argument requires that you
look more deeply into the issues that are really at hand. Now that the CBD has no claims that support
what they actually stand for, that being of something environmentally related, they must now tread
onto foreign territory saying such things as While most people who come to the Imperial Sand Dunes
respect the law and each other, as ABCNEWS reported, crimes such as alcohol and drug abuse and
acts of violence and vandalism have grown in recent years and become a serious issue
(ABCNEWS.com). and It s just a rave party mentality with offroad vehicles mixed with violence, It s
just a crazy area (James Gilbert). These are the new arguments coming forth from the sierra club
activists now that their bet which they had so heavily weighted their chips has fallen through. To make
statements such as this clearly shows the weaknesses in the CBD s argument because they have had to
leave their original stance and move onto something that does not concern them what so ever. To make
a claim such as this would be the same as if the CBD said there should be no more rock and roll
concerts because of the violence and drug use that is associated with them. The aforementioned claim
is of no relevance to what the CBD is arguing for and in turn should be immediately

The Symbolism Of Color In The Wizard Of Oz
In the Wizard of Oz color plays a role in the novel through different characters, scenes and scenery.
My opinion of the novel, color is used as a guidance throughout the story to reach the Wizard of Oz.
The first main idea of the story is Dorothy stepping out from her black and white world into the
explosive world of colors. The second main idea is the colors red and green representing different
ideas of the story. The third main idea is Dorothy s ruby red slippers having a power only Dorothy
could use.
Dorothy is surprised and amazed at what she sees when she steps out into the Land of Oz with all its
colorfulness. Even though Dorothy is a little scared at first she is quickly greeted by the beautiful good
witch dressed in white. The good

A Hairstylist s Day Essay
I see my weekly client come in and sit on my chair. The usual , he tells me casually. I nod my head
and begin to pick up my clippers. Before I know it I see a line of eager people anxiously waiting to
hear the words Who s next? Yeah, it s a tough job but somebody has to keep the clients looking their
best. That is why I decided to become a hairstylist. The idea of cutting hair has always been a dream
for me ever since I was a small child growing up. I would take my Barbie dolls and pretend I was a
hairstylist and created all sorts of peculiar and weird hairstyles. I mean lets face it; my motive for
cutting hair is to revamp people so they can feel confident about themselves on the outside as well as
in the inside.

I can expect a crowd of people around the time of noon to 3 P.M. This is when red tickets are issued
with numbers on them and customers are waiting to be called. The public can be described as raunchy,
vulgar, and rude at times. Strangely, I seem to enjoy what I do. In my eyes, I see myself as an artist
and each individual that takes a seat in my chair is a piece of work ready to be turned into a
masterpiece. I create a visual before cutting the hair. I look at the anatomy of the head and decide what
type of haircut will fit with the head. This makes a major difference because the aftermath of the
haircut determines whether or not the haircut fits the person. I like to see satisfied faces at the end of
each cut, trim, style or shave. Fortunately there are days that can be better than others.
For instance, when a customer comes into my shop and asks me to create an impossible hairstyle such
as a French twist up do with drop curls, I try my best to make this happen. Although in my eyes I see
this as almost impossible, my motive is to give the customers what they want so they will be happy
and satisfied. This will also encourage them to come back for another haircut knowing they left with a
positive experience from my salon. Sometimes trying to be too perfect can have its downfalls. I
remember a day when a young lady came into my shop and asked me for a pretty funky cut and style.
Being the honest person that I am, I simply told her that particular hairstyle

Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
People of all ages suffer from the negative effects of long term exposure to technology. As technology
continues to evolve, the human brain struggles to keep up, and ultimately loses a multitude of once
valued abilities, such as the ability to focus, and deep intellectual thinking. People grow severely
attached to these new artificial intelligence, that they forget there are other real people whom they can
communicate with and share thoughts with. As Fahrenheit 451 has illustrated, our society has evolved
to interact with technology on a more personal level, change the way humans interact with one
another, shift the way political subjects are dealt with, and change what the roles of certain people in a
community are and how those communities function.
The society portrayed in Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, puts the near future into words for the
readers of today to visualize the harsh changes the world will suffer. The communities in the story
consist of ignorant, and hollow people. These people live their lives without ever truly living. The
technology surrounding them allows for no time to relax, think, and communicate personally with
others. A fireman named Guy Montag realizes what kind of society he lives in after taking time to
listen to his vibrant 17 year old neighbor, Clarisse McClellan, talk about a past as bright and optimistic
as her. Questions begin to unfold as he digests the information given to him by Clarisse. For one thing,
he questions to purpose of

Teaching Inclusive Australian History And Presenting The...
Non Indigenous teachers encounter numerous barriers when teaching inclusive Australian history and
presenting the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Teachers often lack
education and exposure, have a fear of opposition or consequences, or have minimal awareness of one
s own beliefs and dispositions, amidst other uncertainties (O Dowd, 2015). As a training teacher with a
non Indigenous heritage, I must consider my own ethical positioning (O Dowd, 2010), so I can best

One person s understanding of history often relates with their sense of cultural identity (Fearon, 1999).
Australia s education about our history may have been misrepresented so that that voices of several
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture s voices were not heard or disregarded. Pre service
teachers may have also been misled or have under represented ideas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander culture s due to media representations or lack of, a misguided approach still occurring
presently. I believe that it is important for pre service teachers to consider and understand their ethical
positioning, so as to expose preconceived assumptions and views. As a pre service teacher, it is my
responsibility to become continually educated as to the correct history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander cultures, and constantly challenge my present knowledge and understanding in order to
develop and have a more mature idea of what it means to be a modern Australian educator. I will make
sure that I thoroughly engage with research based online, but will ensure that I engage and have

The Nature of a British Proprietary Colony History 1301 The British and the Proprietary colonies
were the first to settle a permanent colony in South Carolina in 1680. The colonist established center
of political and economical life in the Southern Carolina s and named a colony. Charles town was
named after King Charles. Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper hoped to create and ideal society in America.
He wanted to create his own utopia where a few gentlemen rule with the consent of small property

one person can control the Carolina s because it was a hassle going back and forth and the distance
between each colony was very great. So they made one governor for all of Carolina and a deputy

How Did The Printing Press Lead To The Rise Of The...
One of the main factors that led to the spread of the renaissance was the formation of the printing
press. If the printing press was never invented, imagine how life would be. We would not have things
like books or newspapers, and we wouldn t be able to share information quickly. To understand the
printing press it is useful to know how it works, and to understand the significance.
In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. It caused rapid growth in the production of
books and caused changes in European civilization. The original printing press used a set group of
type blocks together that made words and sentences. It was in Production around 1450 ( Bellis ).

Each word, phrase, and picture were on a separate block, making it expensive and time consuming
(Kreis). Even though block books were a huge step in transforming the printing of books, the
woodcuts would tend to split after a lot of usage so they were not really useful. In 868 CE, China
created the first printed book called the Diamond Sutra . However, there is a chance there may have
been book printing occurring long before this date (Bellis). Before the printing press, the only books
that were made were highly valuable objects that only belonged to the church.
In Europe, most books were still being made by hand. Writing books by hand was a long process and
took years to complete. The invention made it more efficient to produce books and they were cheaper.
They could also print in color now. It led to a huge social and cultural revolution

The History Of Québécois In Québec
Enriched with its unique history, Québec is a beautiful province diverse in its landscape, heritage and
flavorful dishes. Québec is a perfect destination for those who love to witness incredible examples of
God s creation in nature, visit ancient historical landmarks or try flavorful dishes. One day I hope to

Nearly five hundred years ago, Jacque Cariter set sail on an expedition for King Louis I to find Asai.
Instead of reaching his intended destination, he discovered what would become French Canada.
However it was Samuel de Champlian, one hundred years later, to truly claim the land for France and
to establish a permanent capitol of New France, Québec city. It remained so for a century and a half,
expanding in agriculture, population, and territory and establishing a french colonial administration.
However during the Seven Year War France was forced to sign the Treaty of Paris with England after
General Wolfe conquered Québec. Therefore, Canada transferred from a province of France to a
colonial of Britain. Canada eventually divided into upper and lower colonies, Ontario and Québec.

introduction, Barbara Garson gives the reader an idea of her personal work experience as a clerk with

automation is affecting our society the author begins by analyzing and studying various jobs from the
bottom on up (i.e. starting with the most unskilled labor). Chapter one examines the various
occupations at McDonalds s. Barbara Garson finds that most workers here tend to dislike their jobs.

At first I tried to use my own conversational skills when dealing with customers, but it did not take
long until my supervisors started to discipline me about how important it supposedly is to follow the
given scripts. Hence, I used these scripts and my 5 hour work day seemed like an eternity. I felt like a
wind up doll and eventually quit the job although I was desperately in need of money. The reason I am
mentioning this is because I believe that in reality there is no difference between the fast food
employee and the reservation agent in terms of individuality. Through automation, both professions
have lost their personal touch to the public. In my case I tried to solicit funds from individuals using
my own ideas and creativity, yet was not allowed to do so. Hence, my job became monotonous. Quite
honestly I do not believe Kenny when he states that he likes his work. He argues that he gets to deal
with the public. But in order to do so he follows an unoriginal set of scripts and phrases. Thus, does he
really get to talk to the public or is he merely a machine or parrot triggered by certain key words such
as Yes, No, or Maybe. Furthermore, Kenny was an actor. This profession also requires one to follow
scripts, yet what sets one actor apart from another is their individuality. When Kenny plays a role

Magical Realism In Beloved
From early classics like The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to somewhat recent stories like
The Haunting of Hill House, it seems that no matter what great works are added to horror as a whole,
the genre is never given respect. Consequently, when highly respected works involve horror elements,
critics tend to describe these elements as magical realism to the effect of denying that any high end
literary novel could come from the horror genre. In this case Beloved, a magical realism interpretation
feels lacking because the title character is different from a fairytale ghost or creature; she is a
legitimate threat in the book who should not exist. The entire time Beloved is at 124, Morrison uses

Stretching out her arms she tried to circle it around Sethe.
Firstly, Morrison draws out Beloved s entrance in the first paragraph, building up tension before it is
revealed to the reader that it is Beloved approaching. For the first three whole clauses of the second
sentence, there is no indication that this entrance is for any character readers know. It isn t until the
fourth clause that readers get a strong hint that the figure is Beloved, and the confirmation that it s
Beloved doesn t even come until the second paragraph. In this way, the belated inclusion of her name
almost jolts readers. The pacing feels slow, and the effect is to build tension in the readers gradually
for every clause in the second sentence with no real relief until Beloved s name is mentioned
afterward. This use of isolated clauses to create unease is also found when Beloved is entering the
house after the events in the clearing: Breathing and murmuring, breathing and murmuring, Beloved
heard them as soon as the door banged shut behind her, (page 118). Breathing and murmuring is just
an unusual clause; it puts emphasis on breathing, a normal human action, and it s repeated twice. The
effort Morrison puts into telling us Beloved is breathing makes her seem abnormal, suggesting
breathing is not a given for Beloved. Simultaneously, the repetition of murmuring makes her seem
unstable because of how murmuring is associated with obsessiveness. Looking at these two

The major difference according to Jones (2009) is that Whereas equity is about fairness and focuses on
processes, equality compares the distribution of some goods or outcomes between different
individuals or groups. (p. 9). To clarify it, Jones (2009) mentioned that ...equity focuses on what
constitutes a just distribution, which treats people equally, whereas equality is about what the final
actual distribution is, requiring that people receive equal amounts. (p. 9). Equity s main goal is not to
make everyone in society equal, but rather to provide fair opportunities to become equal while
equality s main goal is to leave everyone as equal as possible in the end result. Furthermore, equity
advocates for people to not be responsible for the consequences that they have no control over and
promotes fair competition. On the other hand, equality strives to make everyone equal in society and
promotes equal share of resources for people to have equal outcomes. To sum it up, equality drives on
the notion that everyone shall have the same, while equity is about everyone having fair opportunities
to achieve the same

3d Printing In Healthcare Summary
In the article, The Future of 3D Printing in Healthcare, it talks about how 3D printing creates many
advantages because of the amount of customization that can be done.It says how, 3D printing is
already used to create dental implants, hearing aids, contact lenses and prosthesis that are customized
to the patient. It also talks about how you could print a 3D model of a person s organ such as their
brain or heart. This enables them to find defects in the organ. Also, it said that the next step up would
be 3D printing artificial organs. One quote that stood out to me was Because 3D printed designs can
be unique and cool, things like prosthesis that used to be something to hide are now a fashion

Hiring Staff with a Passion for Helping People
Staff When preparing to hire staff for this program I would look to hire social workers and case
managers that have a passion for helping people. I would make it known that if you are a person
without patience then this is not a program for you to be. I want people that are going to actually show
compassion and concern when they are helping the people. I want to hire counselors that actually good
at helping people and they have that drive and passion to help others and they have a friendly but
helpful attitude. I want the entire staff to feel like a family and have a trustworthy atmosphere. We
should all have each other s backs and pick up the pieces to where someone else left off if they need
help assisting someone. All employees will be expected to be respectful and courteous to one another
as well as to the clients. New Beginnings will have a very important and dynamic code of ethics and it

The Field Of Healthcare Today Is Continuing To Advance.
The field of healthcare today is continuing to advance. The use of new emerging technologies is
largely responsible for that. Healthcare professionals are able to communicate with one another and
share pertinent patient information with one another faster, and easier than ever before. With the
signing of legislation like the HITECH Act and the Affordable Care Act, healthcare organizations are
beginning to transform the way patient information is used and stored. As healthcare pushes further
toward more advanced technology the care that patients receive becomes more personalized and
optimized allowing for shorter hospital stays and better care overall. But, as these new technologies
are being implemented, risks to the security of patient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third important team member would be the pharmacy director. The pharmacy director would be
responsible for making sure that medication safety is correctly implemented in the system. This person
would ensure that the system works in favor of both the pharmacists and physicians and that there is a
congruency throughout the process of prescribing, verifying, and administering medications. The
fourth member, or members of the committee would be the super users. The super users become
familiar with the new health information system and are there to provide clinical and nonclinical staff
with assistance when difficulties arise. The super users are also familiar with the work flow of each
department and can provide valuable feedback in terms of what is helping the work flow and what is
disrupting it, allowing the committee to find ways to correct any issues that may ultimately affect the
implementation of the new system. Interoperability is the ability of various systems and organizations
to work together to exchange information. When healthcare information systems can work together,
the care of the patient becomes easier and more effective. For example; when a nurse on the medical
surgical unit of the hospital is receiving a new patient from the emergency department they receive

Remember The Titans Analysis
In the film Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin, the main characters of the Titans are
introduced as a group to us in a scene shot in the gymnasium. This scene is when the team first meets
the other prospective team members and develop their relationships with each other. Yakin uses this
scene to show tension and intimidation between the two separate teams, especially focusing in on the
two coaches (Boone and Yoast) while giving the audience an idea of where their relationship stands.
He uses four techniques to create this; blocking, sound effects, camera angles and dialogue to do this
Yakin uses a variety of minor techniques in this excerpt to provide the viewer with a greater
understanding of the greater technique theme (racism and discrimination) running throughout the film.
Firstly, Yakin has used the facial expressions of the players and coaches to give the audience the
impression of dislike and discomfort, this is shown especially at the very end of the excerpt, this is
when the two coaches meet eye to eye in a confrontation by their teams. The facial expressions create
an atmosphere of disapproval to the audience which aids the setup of the greater theme throughout the
film. Secondly the technique of blocking (where the director has chosen the actors to stand) is used to
give an impression of a standoff/confrontation. An example of this would be when the white team
strides in and places themselves standing opposite the black team. This is important regarding

How Surfing Changed My Life Essay
The purpose of this assignment is to explain the differences surfing has made in my life and explain
how it has changed my life for the better. My father got me in the water surfing just a few years ago
and I have fallen in love with it ever since. I have been surfing for two years now and everytime I go
out for a surf I get to learn a new lesson or a new technique. This helps to keep surfing fresh in my
brain by providing something new every time. I will be continuing to surf throughout my life because
the sport is timeless. When you look out in the water you will be able to see people as young as five
and people as old as eighty. Surfing is timeless because of its ability to not age and keep people

Total Artificial Heart Ethical Dilemma
Since the mid 19th century, heart transplants have been been the best option for patients with heart
problems. According to Hajar, there are about 5 million people experiencing heart failure resulting
with more than 280 deaths a year. With the advancement of technology, the Total Artificial Heart was
created to replace a damaged heart if a transplant were unavailable. Although many people see this as
an alternate solution, there is debate over whether this is an ethical choice for the patient. When
considering the ethics of a Total Artificial Heart, many factors come into play including the extraneous
cost of the device, how it will affect the quality of the patient s life, and the overall success of the
device to last.
Since the Total Artificial Heart is a medical device that replaces such an important organ of the human
body and it is in high demand, the device is priced at an unbearably high cost of more than $100,000.
Although this price is necessary to pay for the research and production of the device, it is unfortunate

Chicano Art
Chicano Art and Indigenismo
Artworks have played an indelible work to the lives of humanity. The creative nature in Artists is a
complex matter to define. The uncertainties in the intrinsic nature in art lay difficult aspects that can
only be answered by values, themes and skills depicted in an artist artwork. Apart from playing the
intricate psychological effect on humans, the artworks have been used as a tool of expression that has
been revered and uniquely preserved for future generation. Among some of the most revered modern
forms of artwork has included Chicano Art that had a core relationship to Las Carpas, Indigenismo,

Though they were constantly in the media for all of their scandals, I found it interesting to learn that

opinion, this set the trend for all of the other rock and roll bands to come. Reflecting on some other

The Cold Deep Sea
Cold water corals form reef structures in the cold deep sea are often defined as self sustaining biogenic
reef frameworks and can be found in any ocean around the world at different depths (Roberts, 2005;
Davies and Guinotte, 2011). Reefs are patchy distributed on the sea floor and can develop forming
impressive solid structures. These can fairly extend forming complex deep sea habitats and shaping
niches for many different marine species. These frameworks constitute thus a very specific ecosystem,
offering different types of habitats (Buhl Mortensen et al., 1995; Freiwald et al., 2004; Buhl
Mortensen et al., 2010) to different marine organisms. These reefs are thus important hotspots of
biodiversity (Roberts et al., 2006) and have a key role in the carbon cycle in the deep sea (Roberts et
al., 2006; Thiem et al., 2006).
In the North East Atlantic, Lophelia pertusa, a scleractinian cold water coral, is the dominating reef
forming species. Several symbiotic relations (among 1300 species; Roberts et al, 2006) have been
observed in different studies (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl Mortensen, 2004; Roberts, 2005) between
scleractinian cold water corals and different invertebrate organisms. However, the degree of these
relationships is still not enough defined and poorly understood (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl Mortensen,

2. Problem defined
The rapid growth of computer technology has created new opportunities for criminals to exploit online

The future growth of the information technology is endangered from growing cyber threats. [1]
There are two main interlinked problem areas [2] highlighted in this research. First one is the

Cyber threat is a global problem and it needs a global solution, involving all stakeholders. All

I Am The Sum Of Everyone I Have Ever Met Essay
There is a fine quote which goes as follows. I am the sum of everyone I have ever met. I believe that
the development of a person s writing style is best explained by that quote. As students of writing, in
which anyone who writes down a thought is, we pull influences from writing from all around us. This
is what Roz Ivanič calls the Autobiographical self. She explains, this aspect of identity is associated
with a writer s sense of their roots, of where they are coming from, and that this identity they bring
with them to writing is itself socially constructed and constantly changing as a consequence of their
developing life history: (Ivanič 3). Most people take their writing styles from the books they read or
articles from newspapers, magazines, or websites. The reason for why everyone doesn t write the same
way is that each person is exposed to different styles and forms from different influences, or as Ivanič
implies, through sources and events over a course of their lifetime. Over time, a person is exposed to
different influences that change their writing styles in some way. That is why if you looked at a single
person s writing samples scattered from all over their life, you would see different variations of a
familiar style. However, as writers, we all have an origin of where we make our first mark in writing;
like a sculpture making his first strike on a piece of marble.

Essay On Folic Acid In New Zealand
New Zealand s public health system is often considered to be on par with the world s best. Our social
welfare system cares for people without bankrupting them and we have a range of guidelines to ensure
that our food and resources are safe. However, it may be that we are failing in key areas of our health
system, particularly in the prevention of neural tube defects such as spina bifida. This failure may be
resulting in widespread and unnecessary suffering for the hundreds of New Zealanders that have been
inflicted with this needless and debilitating illness. Our government s inability to legislate the
supplementation of folic acid puts New Zealand behind the curve regarding health policy compared to
the rest of the world.

Another very serious NTD is anencephaly, in which infants are born with underdeveloped brains
and/or incomplete skulls and generally do not survive more than a few hours after birth. It is clear that
these horrific health outcomes need to be addressed with the utmost urgency.
Neural tube defects have a very negative impact on our society. Adding folic acid to our food will
have positive social implications because it will reduce the occurrence of babies diagnosed with
NTDs. Since the USA s mandatory fortification of folic acid in 1998, statistics have revealed that there
are approximately 1300 less NTD cases than pre fortification statistics indicated.10 This would
significantly benefit families who would instead have healthy babies, saving them the emotional
distress of having a child with an NTD and allowing them to live without the high demands and
healthcare costs involved with caring for a child with an NTD. This will also impact the wider society,
as babies with NTDs have a large impact on society due to the significant costs to the health and
disability sectors. A reduction in the number of babies requiring lifelong care will save society
millions of dollars and will greatly improve the quality of life of the babies themselves.

8 February 2017 What dreams may come essay
Robin Williams in the film What dreams may come plays a physician named Chris Nielsen. One day
he meant a young artist named Annie. It is very clear they work very well together as they show on
screen chemistry as if they have known each other forever. After a while, their relationship flourishes
and they decide to get married and soon after, birth two children of their own (Ian and Marie). The
family lives a perfect, and sweet life until it sadly comes to a standstill as their two children die in a
car crash. Life becomes extremely hard for both Chris and Annie as they struggle to find tranquility ...

The tracker that Chris is walking with then reveals himself as the real Albert warns Chris that if he
stays with his wife, Annie, for more than a few minutes he may become permanently trapped in Hell.
All that Chris can reasonably expect is a shot to say a final farewell to his dearly departed wife. When
Chris enters the house to find Annie suffering by what seems like amnesia. She is unable to even
remember her suicide and she is tortured by her unreal surroundings in hell. Chris gives up and
decides to join Annie forever in hell. As he announces his intent to stay with his deceased wife, his
words parallel something that he had said to her when he had left her in an institution after their
children s deaths. As Chris begins succumbing to her dreams, Annie begins to regain her memory.
Annie now wants nothing more than to save her husband and she brings Chris with her as she ascends
to heaven. Now in heaven, Chris and Annie reunite, and are joined by their children whose original
appearances have been restored. Chris draws back to a serious tone and proposes the idea of
reincarnation to Annie. He says this so that he and Annie can experience life all over

Social Security Disability Insurance Essay
What are the Taxes on Social Security Disability Benefits?
Some Social Security disability beneficiaries may have to pay federal income taxes, while some do
not. Here are ways to determine whether or not you have to pay taxes on social security disability
benefits.
Taxes on Social Security Disability Insurance
The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits may be taxable. To determine whether your
SSDI benefits are subject to federal income taxes, you have to take into consideration the payments
you receive under the program and your other sources of income.
If you are single and you are earning more than $25,000 per year including SSDI benefits, a portion of
your benefits will be taxable. If you are married and you and your spouse filed jointly, SSA will take
into account your combined income. If you and your spouse are making ... Show more content on

For individuals
Annual Income Portion of benefits to be taxed
$25,000 to $34,000 50%
$34,000 and above 85%
For married beneficiaries
Annual Income Portion of benefits to be taxed
$32,000 to $44,000 50%
$44,000 and above 85%
If your benefits are subject to tax because your income is beyond the limit, disability benefits will be
taxed at the marginal tax rate. Meaning, you may not be paying taxes of 50% or 85% of your disability
benefits but pay about 10% to 15% on 50% to 80% of your benefits. If your income is higher, in
which case 85% of your disability benefits will be taxed, you may have to pay 35% tax on your
benefits.
There are also state taxes to consider. Most states don t tax disability benefits, but there are still some
that impose taxes using the federal government income brackets as listed above. These states are:
Connecticut
Colorado
Iowa
Kansas
Montana
Minnesota
Nebraska
North Dakota
Rhode Island
Utah
Vermont
West Virginia Social Security Disability

  • 2. The Nine Doctrines of War Essay Surprise The nine doctrines of war are intertwined and dependent on each other. The doctrines used in war are relative to the situation, which is always in flux. They must be used at the most precise time that is right for the situation. Each doctrine of war is vital, but one can never stand on its own. Speed and deception are often employed to further insure the desired effects. People use some form of deception every day. If sports teams apply deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security is important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split his forces. To set up the deception, the British needed the body of a man who appeared to have died by drowning. They found a man who had died of pneumonia in London. The British created a false identity for the body as a major in the army. The dead man s wrist was handcuffed to a briefcase containing British coded documents pertaining to the upcoming invasion of Sardinia and Crete. The body was dumped overboard near the coast of Spain and Portugal and was washed up on shore. Churchill knew the Germans had the British code, and messages were sent to indicate the Allies plan was to attack Crete and Sardinia instead of Sicily. Hitler left soldiers in Sicily, but he split his forces and sent some to Crete and Sardinia. The Allied plan to attack Sicily did not go as well as hoped. The night the British and Americans spearheaded the attack the wind was blowing forty mph. The Americans landed fifty five miles from their target and many drowned. When the ground invasion came ashore between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., it was still dark, and the Allies could not quite see where they were coming ashore They had hoped the Germans and Italians would all be gone. • 3. History of South Africa South Africans had been living under the system of apartheid since 1948 where citizens were divided by race and kept separate through certain system of laws which governed all aspects of daily life. Even though black people were in majority they were denied the right to vote in National elections. The educational system was designed not to educate young blacks into professionals but to prepare them to serve white upper class. Apartheid went further to divide the schools into racial groups therefore the white schools were so advantaged within resources compared to the black schools within the town of Soweto. Many divisions between black and white took place in society. The black people found themselves infuriated by the fact that they were slaves in their own country of birth. Today these high powered, light weight vehicles come in many forms with anywhere from four to two wheels. There are many areas across the United States for such vehicles to be driven but as of today there are some groups out there who wish to close the areas in which these vehicles can be used. One area in particular, located outside of Yuma on the California and Arizona border has been subjected to many threats recently and those who use the land for its recreational purposes have had to fight to keep the land that was originally granted to them for use by the US government. There are no valid points brought to light by the CBD to logically explain why the imperial sand dunes outside of Yuma need to be closed to off road use. To look into this argument requires that you look more deeply into the issues that are really at hand. Now that the CBD has no claims that support what they actually stand for, that being of something environmentally related, they must now tread onto foreign territory saying such things as While most people who come to the Imperial Sand Dunes respect the law and each other, as ABCNEWS reported, crimes such as alcohol and drug abuse and acts of violence and vandalism have grown in recent years and become a serious issue (ABCNEWS.com). and It s just a rave party mentality with offroad vehicles mixed with violence, It s just a crazy area (James Gilbert). These are the new arguments coming forth from the sierra club activists now that their bet which they had so heavily weighted their chips has fallen through. To make statements such as this clearly shows the weaknesses in the CBD s argument because they have had to leave their original stance and move onto something that does not concern them what so ever. To make a claim such as this would be the same as if the CBD said there should be no more rock and roll concerts because of the violence and drug use that is associated with them. • 10. Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury People of all ages suffer from the negative effects of long term exposure to technology. As technology continues to evolve, the human brain struggles to keep up, and ultimately loses a multitude of once valued abilities, such as the ability to focus, and deep intellectual thinking. People grow severely attached to these new artificial intelligence, that they forget there are other real people whom they can communicate with and share thoughts with. As Fahrenheit 451 has illustrated, our society has evolved to interact with technology on a more personal level, change the way humans interact with one another, shift the way political subjects are dealt with, and change what the roles of certain people in a community are and how those communities function. The society portrayed in Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, puts the near future into words for the readers of today to visualize the harsh changes the world will suffer. The communities in the story consist of ignorant, and hollow people. These people live their lives without ever truly living. The technology surrounding them allows for no time to relax, think, and communicate personally with others. This scene is when the team first meets the other prospective team members and develop their relationships with each other. Yakin uses this scene to show tension and intimidation between the two separate teams, especially focusing in on the two coaches (Boone and Yoast) while giving the audience an idea of where their relationship stands. He uses four techniques to create this; blocking, sound effects, camera angles and dialogue to do this Yakin uses a variety of minor techniques in this excerpt to provide the viewer with a greater understanding of the greater technique theme (racism and discrimination) running throughout the film. Firstly, Yakin has used the facial expressions of the players and coaches to give the audience the impression of dislike and discomfort, this is shown especially at the very end of the excerpt, this is when the two coaches meet eye to eye in a confrontation by their teams. The Cold Deep Sea Cold water corals form reef structures in the cold deep sea are often defined as self sustaining biogenic reef frameworks and can be found in any ocean around the world at different depths (Roberts, 2005; Davies and Guinotte, 2011). Reefs are patchy distributed on the sea floor and can develop forming impressive solid structures. These can fairly extend forming complex deep sea habitats and shaping niches for many different marine species. These frameworks constitute thus a very specific ecosystem, offering different types of habitats (Buhl Mortensen et al., 1995; Freiwald et al., 2004; Buhl Mortensen et al., 2010) to different marine organisms. These reefs are thus important hotspots of biodiversity (Roberts et al., 2006) and have a key role in the carbon cycle in the deep sea (Roberts et al., 2006; Thiem et al., 2006). In the North East Atlantic, Lophelia pertusa, a scleractinian cold water coral, is the dominating reef forming species. • 35. I Am The Sum Of Everyone I Have Ever Met Essay There is a fine quote which goes as follows. I am the sum of everyone I have ever met. I believe that the development of a person s writing style is best explained by that quote. As students of writing, in which anyone who writes down a thought is, we pull influences from writing from all around us. This is what Roz Ivanič calls the Autobiographical self. She explains, this aspect of identity is associated with a writer s sense of their roots, of where they are coming from, and that this identity they bring with them to writing is itself socially constructed and constantly changing as a consequence of their developing life history: (Ivanič 3). Most people take their writing styles from the books they read or articles from newspapers, magazines, or websites. The reason for why everyone doesn t write the same way is that each person is exposed to different styles and forms from different influences, or as Ivanič implies, through sources and events over a course of their lifetime. Over time, a person is exposed to different influences that change their writing styles in some way. That is why if you looked at a single person s writing samples scattered from all over their life, you would see different variations of a familiar style.
