Rhetorical Analysis Of Malcom X
Malcom X gives his speech during a time in American history when equality and civil rights between
blacks and whites had not yet been established. Like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X also
fought for the civil rights of Black Americans in the 1960s, but using different tactics. Malcom X was
angry that Congress had opposed bills that were intended to support the equality and civil liberties of
African Americans. In the North, where Blacks were allowed to vote, White politicians came to Black
communities with promises they did not intend to keep in exchange for black votes. Malcom X urged
the African American community to fight in order to gain the equal rights they deserved, by either
through immediate grant of the vote (the ballot) and if denied the vote, blacks should engage in violent
opposition to the white rule (the bullet). Malcom X s stature as a civil rights leader and prominent
figure in the Nation of Islam helped strengthen these appeals. Throughout his speech, Malcom X shifts
between various tones to make his speech more impactful towards his audience. He mainly spoke in
an assertive tone, which proved the seriousness of his arguments. During his rhetoric appeals, it is
evident that X moved into subtle changes of mood and tone to captivate the emotions of his audience.
Malcom X delivered his speech on April 3, 1964. By it being the year of a presidential election, X
anticipated his speech would encourage politicians to support black rights. In addition to

The Inter relationship between pathways to drug discovery, drug development and drug manufacturing
When it comes to small molecule drugs specifically, the journey to eventually becoming an approved
and marketed drug ready for the public is an exhausting and comprehensive odyssey which involves
the following components: basic research, finding the medicine, initial testing, complex clinical trials
involving human beings and then eventually hard sought after approval by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) (Corr Williams, 2009). On average, the process generally takes a decade to a
decade and a half, millions upon millions of dollars and the most ideal circumstances before the drug
is approved this overall reason attributes to why drug discovery and development is one of the drug
discovery and development is widely recognized as one of the most financially risky endeavors in all
of science and a major challenge for the biomedical industry. Much of this cost comes from failures,
which account for 75 percent of the total research and development costs (Corr Williams, 2009). Corr
and Williams are wise to point out that despite the fact that these failures are expensive and can chip
away at morale, they still add to a collective body of knowledge on the process of disease: this
knowledge is gained from carrying out research and clinical trials, even ones that fail (2009). One
could even argue that the path to approval for biologics is even more arduous because they

Lighting and Themes in 127 Hours
There are plenty of films based on a true story and various ways to use lighting as a part of Mise en
Scéne to make all of those films seem more realistic or in sometimes unrealistic whichever is the
director s and cinematographer s take on the story. Danny Boyle s take on Aron Ralston s true story of
cutting his arm off to live has been to make it as realistic as it possibly can be. The film was shot on
and off set, mostly in constructed set of the canyon where Aron Ralston, portrayed by James Franco,
was trapped with his arm pinned between a large boulder and the canyon wall. The scene of which
lighting and themes this essay will discuss about starts from the point where James Franco s character
has just freed himself and starts running ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josef von Sternberg has said that the proper use of light can embellish and dramatize every object
(Josef von Sternberg as quoted in Bordwell 2010, p. 131). As much as the lighting in this scene is used
to state Franco s character s state of mind it is also used to dramatize the scene and character s
struggle. This applies throughout the whole film and not just in this particular scene. Lighting
intensifies Franco s character s facial expressions as well as during his run through the canyon the
lighting is darkened and more shadowy most of the time to create realistic condition but it also adds
the feeling of length to the run.
In the part of the scene where the character is running through the canyon the lighting changes
constantly between darker and lighter. It is darker when he struggles and lighter on the easier parts of
the distance between his trap and freedom.
In the shots that are taken in the canyon the light is colder than in the ones that are taken outside. The
fill light is used to soften the contrast of shadows on characters face while he is in the canyon
(Pramaggiore and Wallis 2011, p. 111). For the first half of the scene, placed in the canyon, light is
constantly coming from above as sunlight between the cracks of the earth to the canyon. Franco s
character also keeps looking up to the sunlight after he has been freed from his trap. The character has
done that many times before in the film as desperately hoping to be free and now he

doing this on purpose. I tried explaining that they re wrong over and over but they only used violence.
They slapped me around until I couldn t talk anymore. They started to understand my position and
who i was. They put me in the carriage again. The ride would be long and slow. The patriots forced me
to pay for being taken to the capital because they were protecting me. I later on heard a man s scream.
He was explaining that the property of emigrants are taken by the Republic and not returned. I knew
this wasn t going to be an easy day. As I passed through the area s, many stared at me with evil faces.
Many stated that they wanted to kill me. I knew I didn t do anything wrong but I was treated as a

went from a traveler to an immigrant to a prisoner. Was this the end of my life? Would I really be

Paranoid Personality Disorder Research Paper
Schizoid personality disorder is among the Cluster A group of personality disorders because of the
unusual behavior such as social withdrawal or other eccentric acts. People with this disorder are
emotionally stagnant while also choosing to be socially isolated; generally classified as loners . This
specific type of personality disorder is not very common.
Causes
The causes of paranoid personality disorder are not completely understood. Like many other
personality and mood disorders, it is thought that the person s genetic factors as well as early
childhood environment play a huge role in someone developing Schizoid personality disorder.
Risk Factors

Neural Computational And Neural Computation
Attempting to understand the mind and its processes can be a challenging concept to try and grasp.
Over the years there have been many different interpretations of how we understand the world around
us through information and processing in the mind and brain. Argumentatively, there are a few
approaches to neural computational and neural information processing to the mind and brain, such as
through biophysical and algorithmic neural computation. While, the transition from biophysical neural
computational processing to algorithmic neural computational processing have different processes
they are both an important aspect in understanding the process from information gathered from the
world to neural computation in the mind and brain.
The biophysical aspect of neural computation is a complicated piece that is still being researched and
uncovered today. However, at a rudimentary level information processing is where biophysical neural
computation begins. Information processing is a type of processing that occurs within the brain so that
natural information, or causal correlation, can be processed into neural summation, which eventually
leads to neural computation. When we perceive something in the world we make biophysical
connections within our brain so that we can comprehend what we see or hear in the world. During this
biophysical neural computation, information processing goes through the process of neural
summation, which is a method of signal transduction. During this

Voting Behaviour At UK Elections Is Determined More By...
Voting behaviour at UK elections is determined more by issues of personality and image than on the
basis of policies or performance in office . Discuss. In recent times it may be argued that personality
and image has played a huge part in the voting behaviour of the electorate in the UK. The personality
and image may refer to the personality of the party leader and how they present themselves in their
campaign. This is a short term factor and in a time where long term factors are not said to play a huge
role, as there is party de alignment and a change in the class structure, perceptions of party leadership
can play a huge role in determining voting behaviour. It may always have been recognised as a factor
but now its influence may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1997, Labour were very much in touch with the electorate and focused on salient issues, whereas
the conservatives focused on issues such as trade unions and devolution which were not deemed as
salient. This benefitted Labour as they gained a huge win at this election and rather than personality
playing a huge part, it may have been their policies. Another contributing factor at this election may
have been performance in office, which in the above statement is not seen as important as personality
and image. However, performance in office may have been extremely detrimental for the
conservatives in 1997 because of their crisis in 1992. This focuses on the retrospective model, as
people saw the Conservatives as incompetent in handling the economy because of Black Wednesday
in September 1992. The Conservatives and especially Noramnt Lamont, Chancellor of the Exchequer,
were to blame for the crisis that saw the pound forced out of the ERM. This didn t help at the 1997
general election where they did extremely badly in a huge Labour win. Personality and image does
play a huge part in voting behaviour and will continue to do so in 2015, where Ed Milliband s
leadership will come into question and could affect Labour s chances a lot. However, it is still not
enough to suggest that personality and image are larger determinants in voting behaviour than on the
basis of policies or performance in office. It is difficult to see

Harold And Maude Movie Analysis
A Book to Film Analysis Do you sometimes wish you could just escape your mundane existence? A
good book has the ability to transport you into another world, a world where you can let your
imaginations and creativity run wild. This magical feeling you experience is the result of vivid
descriptions and passion created by the author, which makes reading a book so special. So, if reading
is so exciting, why do you think so many book adaptations are made into movies? Why do college
students after reading the book would want to watch the movie? The main reason why college

However, when the movie has been drastically deviated from the storyline this only confuses and
frustrates the reader. A reader is watching the movie to take away the visual and audio representation
that is lacking in the book and add to the reading experience. In the case of the movie Harold and
Maude, the story stays true to the reader, the movie can be seen as an added bonus to help the reader
reimagine certain aspects of the story. The scene Harold meets Maude (YouTube) is almost word to
word as in the book and it s the way the actors act out the scene that makes the book come alive. On
the other hand, the movie World War Z is a loose adaptation of Brook s novel. In fact, the book and
the movie are so far apart that besides the title there are no resemblances of Brook s creativity. For
instance, in the book it suggests that it in order to become a zombie it s ...going to take a lot longer,
especially if the virus is only present in small amounts. (Brooks, 26) while in the movie in order to add
the shock and excitement elements the zombies reanimate within 12 seconds after being bitten like in
the scene 12 seconds to infection (YouTube) a gross exaggeration. The movie is a fast paced
thriller/drama that focuses on the zombies and uses the fear factor to drive the plot, unlike the book
that is focused on the people and their lives. This change to the storyline makes the reader not connect

A Temporary Matter
Introduction
A Temporary Matter was originally published in the New Yorker in April 1998 and is the first story in
Jhumpa Lahiri s debut collection, Interpreter of Maladies (1999). The collection won the 2000 Pulitzer
Prize for fiction, a rare achievement for a short story collection.
The story takes place over five days, beginning March 19, at the suburban Boston home of a married
couple, Nadia and Ali. During this week, when they must cope with a one hour power outage each
evening, the grief and alienation that the two have suffered since the stillbirth of their child six months
earlier builds to a climax.
Plot Summary

not know that Ali held their baby at the hospital while she slept. Nadia does not even know the baby s
gender and has said that she is glad that she has no knowledge about the lost child. Ali tells Nadia that
the baby was a girl and goes on to describe her appearance in detail, including that the baby s hands
were closed into fists the way Nadia s are when she sleeps. Ali leaves the room and Nadia is shown
with a teardrop falling from her eye.
Characters
Nadia
Nadia is a thirty two year old woman who is married to Ali. She is tall and broad shouldered. She fell
in love with Ali during college time and later married him and moved with him to a new house.
Nadia works in an advertising agency and sometimes takes on extra work for home. She works out at
a gym regularly.
Six months before the time of the story, Nadia s first child was stillborn. This tragedy has changed her
habits and her relationship with her husband. While she was formerly a neat and enthusiastic
housekeeper and cook, she has become careless about the house and has stopped cooking. She
previously had the habit of being prepared for anything, ranging from last minute guests and daily life
surprises. Now she likes spending more time at work and even keeps herself busy in work at home.

A Research Study On Laboratory
LABORATORY SECTIONS
In contrast to the often passive lecture environment, laboratory classes provide an opportunity for
active hands on learning, where students can apply and engage with the material learned in lecture.
For many students, labs are where their enthusiasm and interest in the material is stimulated. However,
if the experiments appear unconnected to the theory learned in class, or unrelated to everyday life or
the student s major, they can be viewed as busy work: come to class, follow a set procedure, collect
data, fill in datasheet, discuss the results then repeat the next week, rather than a learning opportunity.
This is especially true of introductory labs were students are learning basic procedures. Consequently,
a well prepared TA who clearly explains the relevance of the experiment can have a large impact is
how the lab is perceived.
TAs are also responsible for ensuring safe working practices. A major component of this is being
prepared. Before the semester starts, read all relevant safety manuals. In addition, spend some time in
the laboratory to learn the location and proper operation of all safety equipment, e.g. fire
extinguishers, safety shower, eye wash, first aid kit. If working in a chemical laboratory, learn what
chemicals are stored, where they are stored and safe handling procedures. In addition, learn the proper
operation of all laboratory equipment. The course instructor or laboratory technician should arrange a
training session. Attend

Taking a Look at the Castellammarese War
The Castellammarese war was based in Castellammarese del Golfo, Sicily. The name
Castellammarese refers to immigrants from the town of Castellammare del Golfo in Western Sicily.
This war a power struggle for control of the Italian American Mafia between partisan and Joe

Maranzano. Tensions between the two were evident as far back as 1928, with one side frequently
hijacking the other s alcohol trucks. Both sided were fluid, with many mobsters switching sides or

the United States. He sent Salvatore Maranzano to seize control. In the 1920s the United States Mafia

Letter To The Colossians
Colossians Introduction: In the passage, The Bible instructs the population that Christ passed away for
the sins of mankind. It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their
gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them
into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the
world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and
also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves
as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself.
Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers
to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen
and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and
spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the
words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before
the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian
religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). When
information is passed down orally as opposed to the

Free Will and Libertanianism View
Whether or not humans have free will is a very popular question. This is because everyone wants to
know if the decisions they make are truly theirs or if their decisions matter at all. If everything is
predetermined then what you choose wouldn t matter because it would be bound to happen regardless
of if you chose it or not. Without free will many people believe that life would have less meaning to it.
With free will comes power and importance. Having the ability to choose what will happen gives
humans the possibility of making an impact on the world. As well, people do not really like the idea of
having their whole life pre planned without their input. It is almost impossible to say if humans have
free will or not. Without concrete evidence there is no proof that we do or do not have free will and it
will most likely stay this way for some time to come. I have a libertarianism view when it comes to
whether or not humans have free will. I believe in the possibility of free will and I do not accept
determinism. Free will is defined as the ability to make decisions at your own discretion. Determinism
is defined as the events of the past, in conjunction with the laws of nature, necessitate every event in
the future. What determinism means is that past events and the laws of nature are the factors that
dictate what decision will be chosen. The libertarianism view accepts incompatibilism.
Incompatibilism states that free will and determinism are incompatible and cannot work

Why Guns Should Be Illegal Essay
The United States has issues with guns. We need better gun control so these killings stop happening
and innocent young or older lives stop getting taken away too soon. Did you know that in addition to
the Las Vegas Strip massacre in Nevada where 58 people died and 851 were injured, there have been a
staggering 97 mass shootings since 1982. Stephen Paddock fired more than 1,100 rounds that night. It
is known as the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the United States. With the

Reduce Pain
Strategies to reduce the pain
A large number of researchers have observed that factors such as emotions, thoughts, and expectations
can have an impact on our perceptions of pain. If you think something will hurt, then it may hurt more
than expected. Moreover, the pain will get worse when you feel upset or scared. To explain this
reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is called Control Gate
Control in the 1960s. This theory recommends that spinal cord contains a neurological gate which can
either allow or block pain signals to connect to the brain. According to Melzack and Wall, This gate
control theory is usually to use to explain the phantom or chronic pain. For example, we often tend to

Visual Art Plan By Otto Dix And James Gleeson
Visual art Plan
Artists all around the world have used metaphor in their pieces of work to convey meaning. A figure
of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally
applicable. Most if not all pieces of art you can see in a museum or out on the street have remanets of
metaphor beneath them. Artists use metaphor in their work to tell a story or a time period or in this
case meaning. As the old saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words. The artist distorts the image
to the way he or she wants to see it or would want others to see it. For example, Otto Dix and James
Gleeson are artists that are known for having and using metaphor and spirituality in their pieces of
work. Otto Dix has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otto Dix was a great artist. His paintings were very strong with spirituality and metaphor this was
because he served in the first world war. Many of his paintings were of the first wold war because Dix
volunteered and became a machine gunner which exposed him to see death daily. Through his
experiences in the war he gained a lot of knowledge and saw a lot of things. One of his pieces stood
out to me the most. That piece was the wounded soldier. In this picture I can see a muddy ground with
blood splattered everywhere. The ground and the soldier almost looks like he is decaying. The soldiers
face has an expression of confusion and elements of fear across him. Given his mouth is wide open it
looks like he is in enormous amounts of pain and looks like he is screaming. This could be the face of
a person going through their last seconds before they die or get shot. His hand is squeezing his heart
like he got shot in the area. His helmet seems to be dirty and bloody as almost like he has been here
for a long time.
The work has been put together very well according to the elements and principles of art. The lines in
the art work are very bold and revealing. The lines are clearly outlining the wounded soldier and what
is movements and actions are at the current time of him being painted. The colour of this art work is in
black and white but even though it is in black and white Dix has done a good job of telling us what

Pursuing the American Dream in My Antonia by Willa Cather In the novel, My Antonia, by Willa

She also went to many dances over the summer months. With all of her beautiful dresses, many of the
young men began to notice her as they never had before. Soon Lena began to get a reputation that
many hired girls got, that of a brazen hussy. Everyone thought that she would wind up marrying the
wrong man and ruin her life, but Lena had different plans. She did not listen to anything that they said
about her. As soon as she could, she got her own dress shop in Lincoln and thrived with it. After a
while she moved to San Francisco and did even better. She did not let the stereotype of the hired girls

work she did just that. Some families traveled a great many miles to try to win the American Dream.
The Shimerdas came all the way from Bohemia and gambled everything they had to make it in
America. Antonia, the oldest daughter, knew that to succeed in raising her very own family she needed
to learn the customs of this new country. With this in mind, she asked for the help of Jim Burden, her

Essay On Guidance Changes
Does Title IX Need Changed? An argument has emerged in the United States regarding the title IX
guidance changes of 2011. In 2011 the Obama administration changed some guidelines about sexual
assault in title IX. These changes would include many changes that colleges would have to make to
comply with the new title IX rules and regulations. Since 2011 there has been questions regarding if
the changes were doing what they were made to do, which was to further protect each party. Some
people believe that the changes of 2011 have worked well and need to stay. On the other hand, some
people claim that there are some major problems with the regulations and need to be rewritten. The
two sides disagree about Title IX Sexual Harassment/Assault ... Show more content on

On the other hand, some think that any evidence at all is enough to prove someone guilty of a sexual
assault. With schools increase in responsibility it is thought to be a reason why people are not
receiving a universities full attention and fail to receive a full fair trial. University s claim that every
case they investigate is to their best of their ability but the accused and even the victims have reported
what they thought of as a failure of a fair trial. Some statements also show that people seem to think
that students that are involved with a University sports team is treated differently than a normal
student. Also, reports seem to show a favor to female genders and discriminate males that are involved
in an investigation. One of the most debated topics of the 2011 changes to title IX is the differences
between a school trial and a criminal trial. Some people claim that schools sometimes fail or rush to
hand over any investigations over to the authorities. When a case is changed into a criminal trial often
noted is that the trial is much longer than a school trial and the accuser is sometimes harder to prove
that they are guilty. Much of the argument on this topic is when does the school stop and where does a
criminal trial take place? Some people believe that the schools should reserve the right to decide when

Comparing Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll And Richard Cory
The ugly truth Being an outcast in society is not fun. People just want to be accepted for who they are
and live their life in peace. That can be hard when we live in a world where we demand so much.
Barbie doll by Marge Piercy and Richard Cory by Edward Arlington Robinson, show that no matter
how happy someone looks on the outside, they may feel miserable and destructive on the inside. Both
stories compare and contrast two perspectives from a man and a woman; they demonstrate how
society affects them both in different ways. The reality of what you perceive from someone, is not
always accurate. Marge Piercy was born March 31, 1936 in Detroit. However, Marge didn t meet the

Executive Summary
Improvements in health care and life sciences are an important source of gains in health and longevity
globally. The development of innovative pharmaceutical products plays a critical role in ensuring
these continued gains. To encourage the continued development of new drugs, economic incentives
are essential. These incentives are principally provided through direct and indirect government
funding, intellectual property laws, and other policies that favor innovation. Without such incentives,
private corporations, which bring to market the vast majority of new drugs, would be less able to
assume the risks and costs necessary to continue their research and development (R D). In the United
States, government action has focused on creating the environment that would best encourage further
innovation and yield a constant flow of new and innovative medicines to the market. The goal has
been to ensure that consumers would benefit both from technological breakthroughs and the
competition that further innovation generates. The United States also relies on a strong generic
pharmaceutical industry to create added competitive pressure to lower drug prices. Recent action by
the Administration and Congress has accelerated the flow of generic medicines to the market for
precisely that reason. By contrast, in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and

A License Program Can Reduces Car Crash Rates
Teenagers Driving Studies have shown that the Graduated License Program can reduces car crash
rates by 40%. The GDL is available in all 50 states. Since the decrease of teenage accidents have been
declining some states are making the GDL a law in the state.
Car crashes are the number one death of teenagers, a lot of these deaths are by the use of technology
and not buckling up. To begin, the National safety council reports that 28% of vehicle crashes , are
caused by the use of technology (Klass Roney 5). Many accidents are caused by teens looking at their
phones and the use of social media behind the wheel. If more stricter laws are set on phones in cars
that percentage should fall. In general, the use of phones today by people is just about everyone and
people should be more smart and not be using their phones while driving not just for their safety but
others. Furthermore, the amount of teens that die in car accidents is Four times the amount of drivers
twentyfive to sixtynine (Klass Roney 3). Younger drivers do not buckle up as many other older and
experienced drivers. The more young drivers that are taught what the real impacts of not wearing a
seatbelt can cause they would probably be more wise. Generally speaking, some young teen drivers do
not see the seatbelt as being important, when really it is the most important thing in the car. Better
drivers education for young/new drivers should be taken into account, because it better educates

Self Motivation In Henley s Invictus And If
When people are faced with challenges in life they tend to deal with the problems in different ways.
The poems Invictus by William Ernest Henley and If by Rudyard Kipling both discuss the hardship of
lives and how to be resilient. In these poems the poet s tones represent that they were going through
times of struggle and need. Both Invictus and If address resiliency; however If better demonstrates this
concept better. The poem Invictus demonstrates resilience through the concept of self motivation.
Henley exhibits this when he states, I am the master of my fate, / I am the captain of my soul (15 16).
This quote is significant because the only thing that can control who someone is and how they act is
their morals which are decided through decisions. The author proposes that he is able to get through
challenges when he states, I thank whatever gods may be / For my unconquerable soul (3 4). This
shows that Henley is confident that he can surpass any challenges that he is faced with. ... Show more

the author says this it helps portray this as one of his many recommendations to achieve success. In
the poem Kipling also states, If you can keep your head when all about you / Are losing theirs and

Differences Between Two Languages Based On The Languages
Summary The main aim of this report is to highlight differences between two languages based on the
program developed for both the languages. A reader writer program was created in two languages, i.e.
JAVA and PYTHON. The program creates 4 threads each of which performs 5 read/write operations to
the shared location. These threads simulate a coin flip. If the coin flip results in Heads (H) Reading
from the shared location is performed and if the coin flip results in Tails (T) Writing to the shared
memory location is performed. To achieve this concurrency and parallel programming, Semaphores
and Monitor is used. Based on the output of the programs, two languages are then differentiate based
on certain given comparison and evaluation criteria and concluded which of the two chosen languages
is better for concurrency and simultaneously programming. Keywords: Semaphore, Monitor, Reader
Writer, Concurrency, Thread. 1. Introduction Concurrency and Parallel programming in Computer
Science, refers to act of performing several computations simultaneously by interacting with each
other and using the same memory location to perform various operations. Reader Writer is a common
example of concurrency and parallel programming. In this problem, multiple threads access the same
memory location at any given time. Two or more threads can read from the shared location at the same
time, but same cannot be said for the writer. When a writer thread is writing, no other thread, whether

What Is Procedural Programming Paradigm
Task 1
What is Procedural Programming Paradigm?
In Information Technology(IT) jargon Programming is termed as an innovative process where the
computer receives instructions how to perform a task as per the requirement or solving a specific
problem.
The various ways of attending to the process of programming is known as programming paradigms.
Majority of programming language comes under one paradigm; contrary to this one could observe
some languages having elements of multiple paradigms. Paradigm is a way where a specific code is
arranged. A code comprises various commands or instructions there in relation to functions and or
procedures.
Most vital programming paradigms can be listed as Procedural paradigms and the object oriented
paradigms.

The main types of Programming Paradigm.
Out of the vast numbers of programming paradigms that are available, the following are know to be
some of the main types.
1. Functional
2. Logical

How Does Shakespeare Present Love In Sonnet 43
Compare the methods the poets use to explore the ideas about love in Sonnet 43 and Sonnet 116
In Sonnet 43 and Sonnet 116 , both Browning and Shakespeare present love as eternal using biblical
allusion. Sonnet 43 is a love letter to the speaker, who is the poet (Elizabeth Barrett Browning) to her
beloved. The title suggests that this is her 43rd declaration of her love to her beloved which shows that
the love she has for her beloved is so intense, that it inspired her to write numerous poems her beloved
was her muse. Browning introduces the poem using a question as she asks, How do I love thee? which
provides an assurance to her lover of her love as well as proving the sincerity of the speaker; she
expresses a tone of euphoria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both poets use metaphors in their poems. Browning s uses of abstract nouns are perceptible as she
uses abstract nouns to exhibit the extent of her love to her beloved. Their love is described to reaching
the highest spiritual level of the ends of Being and Ideal Grace Ideal Grace is a common reference to
God s love which implies that she loves him to the limits of God s love and it is beyond the physical
and belongs to the realm of spirituality. Moreover, Browning uses abstract nouns to show that love is
continuous and perhaps a sustenance as she declares, I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all
my life! This insinuates that her love is almost a necessity as it has a strong hold over her; her love for
her beloved is what makes her alive. Browning s passion for her lover even in suffering, I love thee
with passion... In my old griefs... and with my childhood s faith is displayed as she loves him with
purity and innocence like a child who believes in saints. A child s hope and faith is pure and innocent
before they grow up and become cynical. Her old griefs is referring to when she was grieving after her
beloved brother Edward drowned while on an enforced break with her in Torquay. Browning presents
her husband as her saviours as he was known as the person to have

Global Environmental Activism And Environmental...
Global Environmental Activism Vice President Joe Biden once said, No fundamental social change
occurs merely because government acts. It s because civil society, the conscience of a country, begins
to rise up and demand demand demand change. For society to rise up and demand change like Joe
Biden is talking about there are ways to better understand what change needs to happen and how to
put that change into motion, especially with environmental sustainability. First there must be an
understanding of what ecological crises are and how they are negative affecting the earth while
exploring how sustainability can help with these crises. Then to better understand sustainability one
can explore sustainable practices around the world through case studies and even local practices of
sustainability. However one must understand the thought process behind sustainability and how to
make that work in favor of making change. This includes both the Dominant Social Paradigm and the
New Ecological Paradigm and how they both can be used to facilitate change. Once there is an
understanding of the problem and a plan to fix it then the action must take place. While action can take
many different forms, for many people it is structured as environmental activism. To further study
environmental activism once can use organizations such as 350.org, Fossil Free, and The People s

Cyber Bullying And Its Effect On Today s Youth
Studies have shown that cyberbullying incidents have quadrupled in the last five years.
Cyber bullying has become a huge issue recently. It is despairing to turn on the news
everyday and watching reports going on about bullying and the number of suicides such
has lead to. Love is Louder has been a phrase commonly used by celebrities to send out
a message not only to fans but to humanity proving that bullying is not righteous and should
not be tolerated. The more the communication through technology expands and widens, the
more bullies torture their innocent victims. The fact is that technology is somehow not being
used for the precise matter, so we need to figure out a way to put an end to cyber bullies
injudicious actions. Cyberbullying is becoming a radical obstacle and we all need to do our
parts to building a mindful perspective of what can be done to stop cyber bullies ones in for all. Cyber
bullies will continue to be a threat to today s youth until we take preventative
measures against them. Before terminating cyberbullying we must first perceive why and

Why News Ownership Affects Free Press And Press Censorship...
The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has
had significant effects on the way in which the press operates and influences society. This essay
examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this
fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be
seen to change the nature of political communication, and why is it is important that it affects the
circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news.
One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free
press within a state, determining therefore how regulated or censored information becomes. The
freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that
own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be
seen to limit the levels of free press a country has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that authoritarian
regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media s provision of vision and information . His
argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more
easily able to alter the information that the public receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers,
such as the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state (BBC, 2011). This
therefore allows the

Jimmy Valentine From A Retrieved Reformation
Why Jimmy Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a Good Character I argue that Jimmy
Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a good character. He is a good character for the following
reasons. Firstly, Jimmy gives money to a blind man. Secondly, Jimmy frees a little girl from a safe.
Finally, Ben Price does not prosecute Jimmy. Overall, Jimmy from A Retrieved Reformation is
anything but a villain. Jimmy gives money to a blind man. In the text, it states, He gave some money
to a blind man who sat there, asking for money, and then he got on the train (Porter, 2). Rather than
keeping this money, Jimmy gives it to a poor, blind man. This blind man will likely never give
anything back to Jimmy, yet Jimmy gives him some of his money anyway. Because of this second
kind act, Jimmy shows that he truly is good. If I were in that situation and I were freed from jail for
the first time in years, I would (unfortunately) not give any of my money to the blind man. I would
keep that money to spend on self indulgement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal factors such as the collection of football stickers are globally accredited by groups of people

putting duplicate stickers in packets making consumers who are deeply interested in the collection and

The Lifestyle change Program
The Program
Prior to commencing the Lifestyle Change Program the client must be educated in areas of her
lifestyle, which will be addressed over the course of the 4 week program. The initial assessment
highlights areas of weakness in the client; results indicate that the client currently falls below average
in some physical aspects when compared to normative values of her age category. Areas that will be
specifically targeted in the program include aerobic fitness and strength, dietary intake requirements
and lifestyle changes.
The client must be educated on the concept and the benefits associated with increasing aerobic
capacity and also increasing muscle strength, not only of the upper body but all major muscle groups.
In addition to educating the client on the benefits of increasing physical activity the client must be
made aware of the consequences associated with sedentary behavior and thus the emphasis of lifestyle
changes must be made. Dietary intake is another major area of the client s lifestyle that must be
addressed for the client s educational purposes. By educating the client in areas that will be addressed
this will aid the client in accepting the idea that areas in her lifestyle must be altered to enhance her
quality of life. Not only will education paired with alterations to the client s lifestyle enhance the
client s quality of life, it will also increase the chances and likelihood of her committing to the
program in the long term and post program.

The As A Way Of Life
Urban areas have very unique social characteristics that have been identified and pondered for many
years. Why is it more socially acceptable to say hello to a complete stranger walking down the street
in Holland than it is in Manhattan? What makes people view the homeless differently in a small town
versus a large city? People have often wondered what makes cities so socially different than any other
area in society. Louis Wirth published his theories on ideas like this in his 1938 article Urbanism as a
Way of Life. Contrary to many other theologians, Wirth explains the scarcity of interpersonal relations
in urban areas through population density and specialization.
Wirth acknowledges that size cannot be the sole indicator for ... Show more content on

Bigger cities in a small area have more opportunity to hold different social groups in them because of
their bigger numbers in such a close proximity. For example, New York City is one of the largest cities
in the country. It is also known for housing many culturally diverse neighborhoods, such as Chinatown
and Little Italy . In comparison, Holland, a small town with a population less than one percent of that
of New York City, has significantly less identifiable diversity. One of the factors that contributes to
New York City s higher amount of diversity is its significantly larger population in such a small area.
More people in a region living on top of each other gives way for more opportunities for creating
visible diversity.
Almost forty years later, Claude Fischer contributes his thoughts on urban affect in his article Theories
of Urbanism. In this article, Fischer describes three major theories of urbanism that work to transform
our behaviors in society and the psychological effects on each individual. The first, he identifies the
deterministic theory, which claims that urbanism increases the appearance of social and personality
disorders more than those found in rural places. Going with Wirth s theory on the effect of increased
stimuli in the city on individuals, Fischer believed that city dwellers respond by withdrawing from any

run streams of propaganda in hopes of making the Party appear superior to the Brotherhood.
According to Big Brother, sexual interactions should be kept to a minimum and only occur to populate
and produce more Party supporters. The Party strongly encourages the children of Oceania to join the
Junior Spies, an organization that brainwashes them to report their parents or guardians if they feel
they are being disloyal to the Party and Big Brother. Nothing is private in the territory of Oceania;
technological mechanisms, such as small microphones and helicopters acting as drones, are installed
throughout to constantly monitor its members. As media manipulation evolves and the citizens
become further brainwashed, individuals have a big decision to make, whether to rebel against the
Party or betray their old ways of life. The people of Oceania cannot express their true thoughts,

These negative thoughts obviously exist, but not many individuals are willing to stand up for what

Treasury bonds are issued by the government, have almost no default risk and the bond price goes
down when interest rates rise. Corporate bonds are issued by corporations and carry default risk if the
issuing corporation is not able to pay interest and principal payments. Corporate bonds make up a
large portion of the overall bond market. Corporate bonds are characterized by higher yields than
government securities cause there is a higher risk of a company defaulting than a government. The
upside to this is that they can also be the most rewarding fixed income investments because of the risk
the investor must take on, where higher credit companies that are more likely to pay back their
obligations will carry a relatively lower interest rate than riskier borrowers. Companies can issue
bonds with fixed or variable interest rates and of varying maturity. Municipal bonds carry risk similar
to corporate bonds, they are often issued by state and local governments. The major advantage of
municipal bonds is for investors since the returns are free from federal tax, and furthermore, state and
local governments will often consider their debt non taxable for residents, making some municipal
bonds completely tax free, sometimes called triple tax free. The yield on a municipal bond is usually
lower than that of an equivalent taxable bond. Foreign bonds are issued by foreign governments carry
default and extra risk if the bond

increasing presence in high margin channels and packages, leveraging integrated business model,
strengthening route to market through acquisitions and improving operating efficiency each capitalize
on DPSG strengths and will greatly influence the decision to launch a new energy beverage drink
(Kerin, 2013 pg 96).
Other relevant issues include understanding the attitude and behaviors of current heavy users.
According to data for the United States, collected by Nielsen identifies busy mothers and their
households are more likely to use energy drinks than average households (csnews.com). The data
indicated that busy young moms had a higher purchasing index then young adults leaving college or
independent singles, 20 30 (csnews.com). This information is relevant because it will help identify a
potential target audience.
Understanding competitors, their target audience and the attributes being emphasized by competitors
will establish a competitive advantage. Red Bull continues to dominate the grossing $23 million in

1984 Discussion
1984 Discussion Questions
1. The world within which Winston lives is replete with contradictions. For example a, major tenet of
the Party s philosophy is that War is Peace. Similarly, the Ministry of Love serves as, what we would
consider, a department of war. What role do these contradictions serve on a grand scale? Discuss other
contradictions inherent in the Party s philosophy. What role does contradiction serve within the
framework of Doublethink? How does Doublethink satisfy the needs of The Party?
2. In the afterword, the commentator describes 1984 as a warning. Indeed, throughout the text, Orwell
plants both subtle and overt warnings to the reader. What do you think are some of the larger issues at
hand here?

Charrington s spare room, Winston undergoes a process of philosophical cleansing and re education
against which he valiantly, but unsuccessfully fights. Discuss Winston s capitulation at the hands of O
Brien. How is Winston brought to love Big Brother? In sacrificing Julia, how has Winston, in essence,
signaled his own end?
13. How would you describe the author s tone in 1984? Does it add to or detract from the character s
discourse?
14. Discuss the role of sex and intimacy in 1984. What specific function does the Party s directive on
sexual interaction serve?
15. In the final analysis, how accurate was Orwell in his vision of the future? In what ways does our
contemporary society compare to his idea of society in 1984? Are there examples in which he was
correct? What is most opposite? Do you see a potential for aspects of Orwell s vision to come true?
16. During his final encounter with O Brien, Winston argues that, if all else fails, the inherent nature of
the individual the spirit of man is strong enough to undermine a society such as that created by The
Party. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Is Winston s belief applicable to the world we
live in today? Can you cite examples in our own recent history that support or dismiss Winston s
belief in the resiliency and righteousness of the human spirit?

Robert Mueller Jury Trial
A grand jury witness serving in Special Counsel Robert Mueller s Russia investigation is speaking out
against what appears to be a never ending witch hunt, according to The Daily Caller. In an op ed
published on the conservative website, Ronn Torossian revealed Mueller s secret tactics and
operations, writing that, enough is enough. Tosossian, a public relations executive, said he testified
before Mueller s gran jury on Dec. 15, 2017, in Washington, D.C. Tosossian said he was of interest to
Mueller because he was approached in 2012 by Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump s former
campaign manager, and Rick Gates, an associate to Manafort, about doing public relations work for
the Ukrainian government. Writing that he is the president of a large PR firm in New York City,
Tosossian said he rejected the deal when he was reportedly told by Manafort and gates not to report

front of Mueller s gran jury. But when he began fielding questions from Mueller s team, he
immediately knew the investigation was largely predicated on potential illegal actions of Manafort and
Gates. He said Mueller and his team appear to be heavily focused on Manafort and Gates actions years
before ever briefly working for Trump s 2016 presidential campaign. Both men have been indicated
on a series of tax crimes, all of which are no where near connected to Trump. This investigation feels

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational
profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and
transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both
becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized
testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National
Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials
VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic
abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills analysis
is a very important process that can determine a person s adjusted occupational profile based upon
past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes determining vocational
opportunities that are in keeping with the person s occupational profile including ... Show more

Who Is The Spinning Jenny And How Is It Significant To The...
In 1764, during the Industrial Revolution, the textiles industry changed forever when the first spinning
machine was invented. The Royal Society of Arts offered a prize for an invention that could spin six
threads at once but would only need one person to attend to it. One of the inventors that took to the
challenge was James Hargreaves, 1720 to 1778, who produced the Spinning Jenny, a machine that
mechanically reproduced the actions of the hand spinner. The Spinning Jenny was significant to the
development and progress of the Industrial Revolution and it also had a momentous impact on not
only yarn production but also people s lives, in particular people in England.

The 1764 invention, that wasn t patented until 1770, had eight smaller wheels, instead of one, which
allowed the operator to spin eight threads at the one time, as shown in source two. This modern day
sketch shows the design and construction of the Spinning Jenny and how all eight different spindles
were powered by a single wheel. This meant that one spinster could produce eight threads in the same
time it had previously taken to produce one. This advance in spinning machinery meant that the
quality and strength of yarn and cloth was greatly improved. Hargreaves invention best spun the short
fibres of regular length, such as cotton. The cotton yarn produced was considered to be of very good
quality. However, the wool yarn from the Spinning Jenny was quite unsatisfactory. This was due to the
irregular lengths which resulted in lumpy, uneven

The, The Trunk Of The Tree Essay
This is where the main problem(s) the company is facing is stated, normally it is one to three points
that describes the issues. It is important as a standalone because it is the main issue. Even if you gave
the company you are studying this it would still be valuable to them. It is the diagnoses. The statement
of the problem is like the trunk of the tree. It is the main steam of the case study; you have to
understand what this aspect is before the other four to five parts are completed. The rest branch off of
this. Which makes it the most important part of the whole outline while being the shortest part.
2. Situation Analysis:
This is the section where the SWOTs (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats) are done. This is
done in order to understand the entities of the problem (it is the what is _____ section). Standalone it
is the description of the bases of the issues, with this some things that are wrong could be fixed. Such
as in BigSpaceship, when the CEO did not know which category the company fell in. The SWOT
could have provided the information for him to realize this and perhaps come up with at least one
solution to his issues. When this part is compiled with the other sections it serves as a description to
the areas that need to be fixed or left alone. Each section plays its own roll, this one is a description.
3. Strategic Analysis:
Strategic Analysis is the trouble shooting sections. Basically every possible idea of how to fix the

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of Malcom X Malcom X gives his speech during a time in American history when equality and civil rights between blacks and whites had not yet been established. Like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X also fought for the civil rights of Black Americans in the 1960s, but using different tactics. Malcom X was angry that Congress had opposed bills that were intended to support the equality and civil liberties of African Americans. In the North, where Blacks were allowed to vote, White politicians came to Black communities with promises they did not intend to keep in exchange for black votes. Malcom X urged the African American community to fight in order to gain the equal rights they deserved, by either through immediate grant of the vote (the ballot) and if denied the vote, blacks should engage in violent opposition to the white rule (the bullet). Malcom X s stature as a civil rights leader and prominent figure in the Nation of Islam helped strengthen these appeals. Throughout his speech, Malcom X shifts between various tones to make his speech more impactful towards his audience. He mainly spoke in an assertive tone, which proved the seriousness of his arguments. During his rhetoric appeals, it is evident that X moved into subtle changes of mood and tone to captivate the emotions of his audience. Malcom X delivered his speech on April 3, 1964. By it being the year of a presidential election, X anticipated his speech would encourage politicians to support black rights. In addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Inter-Relationship between Pathways to Drug Discovery,... The Inter relationship between pathways to drug discovery, drug development and drug manufacturing When it comes to small molecule drugs specifically, the journey to eventually becoming an approved and marketed drug ready for the public is an exhausting and comprehensive odyssey which involves the following components: basic research, finding the medicine, initial testing, complex clinical trials involving human beings and then eventually hard sought after approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (Corr Williams, 2009). On average, the process generally takes a decade to a decade and a half, millions upon millions of dollars and the most ideal circumstances before the drug is approved this overall reason attributes to why drug discovery and development is one of the drug discovery and development is widely recognized as one of the most financially risky endeavors in all of science and a major challenge for the biomedical industry. Much of this cost comes from failures, which account for 75 percent of the total research and development costs (Corr Williams, 2009). Corr and Williams are wise to point out that despite the fact that these failures are expensive and can chip away at morale, they still add to a collective body of knowledge on the process of disease: this knowledge is gained from carrying out research and clinical trials, even ones that fail (2009). One could even argue that the path to approval for biologics is even more arduous because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lighting and Themes in 127 Hours There are plenty of films based on a true story and various ways to use lighting as a part of Mise en Scéne to make all of those films seem more realistic or in sometimes unrealistic whichever is the director s and cinematographer s take on the story. Danny Boyle s take on Aron Ralston s true story of cutting his arm off to live has been to make it as realistic as it possibly can be. The film was shot on and off set, mostly in constructed set of the canyon where Aron Ralston, portrayed by James Franco, was trapped with his arm pinned between a large boulder and the canyon wall. The scene of which lighting and themes this essay will discuss about starts from the point where James Franco s character has just freed himself and starts running ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Josef von Sternberg has said that the proper use of light can embellish and dramatize every object (Josef von Sternberg as quoted in Bordwell 2010, p. 131). As much as the lighting in this scene is used to state Franco s character s state of mind it is also used to dramatize the scene and character s struggle. This applies throughout the whole film and not just in this particular scene. Lighting intensifies Franco s character s facial expressions as well as during his run through the canyon the lighting is darkened and more shadowy most of the time to create realistic condition but it also adds the feeling of length to the run. In the part of the scene where the character is running through the canyon the lighting changes constantly between darker and lighter. It is darker when he struggles and lighter on the easier parts of the distance between his trap and freedom. In the shots that are taken in the canyon the light is colder than in the ones that are taken outside. The fill light is used to soften the contrast of shadows on characters face while he is in the canyon (Pramaggiore and Wallis 2011, p. 111). For the first half of the scene, placed in the canyon, light is constantly coming from above as sunlight between the cracks of the earth to the canyon. Franco s character also keeps looking up to the sunlight after he has been freed from his trap. The character has done that many times before in the film as desperately hoping to be free and now he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everywhere they took me they stopped to check papers which took hours. Then the patriots take me as a prisoner to the local authorities. I knew it wasn t going to be good. The authorities believed I was an emigrant and had to be sent to Paris. I was shocked. I knew they were doing this on purpose. I tried explaining that they re wrong over and over but they only used violence. They slapped me around until I couldn t talk anymore. They started to understand my position and who i was. They put me in the carriage again. The ride would be long and slow. The patriots forced me to pay for being taken to the capital because they were protecting me. I later on heard a man s scream. He was explaining that the property of emigrants are taken by the Republic and not returned. I knew this wasn t going to be an easy day. As I passed through the area s, many stared at me with evil faces. Many stated that they wanted to kill me. I knew I didn t do anything wrong but I was treated as a prisoner. They explained that I now have no rights because I m an emigrant. I was wondering how I went from a traveler to an immigrant to a prisoner. Was this the end of my life? • 7. Neural Computational And Neural Computation Attempting to understand the mind and its processes can be a challenging concept to try and grasp. Over the years there have been many different interpretations of how we understand the world around us through information and processing in the mind and brain. Argumentatively, there are a few approaches to neural computational and neural information processing to the mind and brain, such as through biophysical and algorithmic neural computation. While, the transition from biophysical neural computational processing to algorithmic neural computational processing have different processes they are both an important aspect in understanding the process from information gathered from the world to neural computation in the mind and brain. The biophysical aspect of neural computation is a complicated piece that is still being researched and uncovered today. However, at a rudimentary level information processing is where biophysical neural computation begins. Information processing is a type of processing that occurs within the brain so that natural information, or causal correlation, can be processed into neural summation, which eventually leads to neural computation. When we perceive something in the world we make biophysical connections within our brain so that we can comprehend what we see or hear in the world. During this biophysical neural computation, information processing goes through the process of neural summation, which is a method of signal transduction. During this ... • 8. Voting Behaviour At UK Elections Is Determined More By... Voting behaviour at UK elections is determined more by issues of personality and image than on the basis of policies or performance in office . Discuss. In recent times it may be argued that personality and image has played a huge part in the voting behaviour of the electorate in the UK. The personality and image may refer to the personality of the party leader and how they present themselves in their campaign. This is a short term factor and in a time where long term factors are not said to play a huge role, as there is party de alignment and a change in the class structure, perceptions of party leadership can play a huge role in determining voting behaviour. It may always have been recognised as a factor but now its influence may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1997, Labour were very much in touch with the electorate and focused on salient issues, whereas the conservatives focused on issues such as trade unions and devolution which were not deemed as salient. This benefitted Labour as they gained a huge win at this election and rather than personality playing a huge part, it may have been their policies. Another contributing factor at this election may have been performance in office, which in the above statement is not seen as important as personality and image. However, performance in office may have been extremely detrimental for the conservatives in 1997 because of their crisis in 1992. This focuses on the retrospective model, as people saw the Conservatives as incompetent in handling the economy because of Black Wednesday in September 1992. The Conservatives and especially Noramnt Lamont, Chancellor of the Exchequer, were to blame for the crisis that saw the pound forced out of the ERM. This didn t help at the 1997 general election where they did extremely badly in a huge Labour win. Personality and image does play a huge part in voting behaviour and will continue to do so in 2015, where Ed Milliband s leadership will come into question and could affect Labour s chances a lot. However, it is still not enough to suggest that personality and image are larger determinants in voting behaviour than on the basis of policies or performance in office. It is difficult to see ... This magical feeling you experience is the result of vivid descriptions and passion created by the author, which makes reading a book so special. So, if reading is so exciting, why do you think so many book adaptations are made into movies? Why do college students after reading the book would want to watch the movie? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when the movie has been drastically deviated from the storyline this only confuses and frustrates the reader. A reader is watching the movie to take away the visual and audio representation that is lacking in the book and add to the reading experience. In the case of the movie Harold and Maude, the story stays true to the reader, the movie can be seen as an added bonus to help the reader reimagine certain aspects of the story. The scene Harold meets Maude (YouTube) is almost word to word as in the book and it s the way the actors act out the scene that makes the book come alive. On the other hand, the movie World War Z is a loose adaptation of Brook s novel. In fact, the book and the movie are so far apart that besides the title there are no resemblances of Brook s creativity. For instance, in the book it suggests that it in order to become a zombie it s ...going to take a lot longer, especially if the virus is only present in small amounts. (Brooks, 26) while in the movie in order to add the shock and excitement elements the zombies reanimate within 12 seconds after being bitten like in the scene 12 seconds to infection (YouTube) a gross exaggeration. • 12. A Research Study On Laboratory LABORATORY SECTIONS In contrast to the often passive lecture environment, laboratory classes provide an opportunity for active hands on learning, where students can apply and engage with the material learned in lecture. For many students, labs are where their enthusiasm and interest in the material is stimulated. However, if the experiments appear unconnected to the theory learned in class, or unrelated to everyday life or the student s major, they can be viewed as busy work: come to class, follow a set procedure, collect data, fill in datasheet, discuss the results then repeat the next week, rather than a learning opportunity. This is especially true of introductory labs were students are learning basic procedures. Consequently, a well prepared TA who clearly explains the relevance of the experiment can have a large impact is how the lab is perceived. TAs are also responsible for ensuring safe working practices. A major component of this is being prepared. Before the semester starts, read all relevant safety manuals. In addition, spend some time in the laboratory to learn the location and proper operation of all safety equipment, e.g. fire extinguishers, safety shower, eye wash, first aid kit. If working in a chemical laboratory, learn what chemicals are stored, where they are stored and safe handling procedures. In addition, learn the proper operation of all laboratory equipment. • 15. Letter To The Colossians Colossians Introduction: In the passage, The Bible instructs the population that Christ passed away for the sins of mankind. It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself. Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). • 16. Free Will and Libertanianism View Whether or not humans have free will is a very popular question. This is because everyone wants to know if the decisions they make are truly theirs or if their decisions matter at all. If everything is predetermined then what you choose wouldn t matter because it would be bound to happen regardless of if you chose it or not. Without free will many people believe that life would have less meaning to it. With free will comes power and importance. Having the ability to choose what will happen gives humans the possibility of making an impact on the world. As well, people do not really like the idea of having their whole life pre planned without their input. It is almost impossible to say if humans have free will or not. Without concrete evidence there is no proof that we do or do not have free will and it will most likely stay this way for some time to come. I have a libertarianism view when it comes to whether or not humans have free will. I believe in the possibility of free will and I do not accept determinism. Free will is defined as the ability to make decisions at your own discretion. Determinism is defined as the events of the past, in conjunction with the laws of nature, necessitate every event in the future. What determinism means is that past events and the laws of nature are the factors that dictate what decision will be chosen. The libertarianism view accepts incompatibilism. Incompatibilism states that free will and determinism are incompatible and cannot work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you think something will hurt, then it may hurt more than expected. Moreover, the pain will get worse when you feel upset or scared. To explain this reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is called Control Gate Control in the 1960s. This theory recommends that spinal cord contains a neurological gate which can either allow or block pain signals to connect to the brain. A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. Most if not all pieces of art you can see in a museum or out on the street have remanets of metaphor beneath them. Many of his paintings were of the first wold war because Dix volunteered and became a machine gunner which exposed him to see death daily. Through his experiences in the war he gained a lot of knowledge and saw a lot of things. One of his pieces stood out to me the most. That piece was the wounded soldier. In this picture I can see a muddy ground with blood splattered everywhere. The ground and the soldier almost looks like he is decaying. The soldiers face has an expression of confusion and elements of fear across him. Given his mouth is wide open it looks like he is in enormous amounts of pain and looks like he is screaming. This could be the face of a person going through their last seconds before they die or get shot. His hand is squeezing his heart like he got shot in the area. His helmet seems to be dirty and bloody as almost like he has been here for a long time. The work has been put together very well according to the elements and principles of art. The lines in the art work are very bold and revealing. The lines are clearly outlining the wounded soldier and what is movements and actions are at the current time of him being painted. The development of innovative pharmaceutical products plays a critical role in ensuring these continued gains. To encourage the continued development of new drugs, economic incentives are essential. These incentives are principally provided through direct and indirect government funding, intellectual property laws, and other policies that favor innovation. Without such incentives, private corporations, which bring to market the vast majority of new drugs, would be less able to assume the risks and costs necessary to continue their research and development (R D). In the United States, government action has focused on creating the environment that would best encourage further innovation and yield a constant flow of new and innovative medicines to the market. The goal has been to ensure that consumers would benefit both from technological breakthroughs and the competition that further innovation generates. The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has had significant effects on the way in which the press operates and influences society. This essay examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be seen to change the nature of political communication, and why is it is important that it affects the circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news. One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free press within a state, determining therefore how regulated or censored information becomes. The freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be seen to limit the levels of free press a country has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that authoritarian regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media s provision of vision and information . His argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more easily able to alter the information that the public receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers, such as the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state (BBC, 2011). This therefore allows the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why is it more socially acceptable to say hello to a complete stranger walking down the street in Holland than it is in Manhattan? What makes people view the homeless differently in a small town versus a large city? People have often wondered what makes cities so socially different than any other area in society. Louis Wirth published his theories on ideas like this in his 1938 article Urbanism as a Way of Life. Contrary to many other theologians, Wirth explains the scarcity of interpersonal relations in urban areas through population density and specialization. Wirth acknowledges that size cannot be the sole indicator for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bigger cities in a small area have more opportunity to hold different social groups in them because of their bigger numbers in such a close proximity. For example, New York City is one of the largest cities in the country. It is also known for housing many culturally diverse neighborhoods, such as Chinatown and Little Italy . In comparison, Holland, a small town with a population less than one percent of that of New York City, has significantly less identifiable diversity. One of the factors that contributes to New York City s higher amount of diversity is its significantly larger population in such a small area. More people in a region living on top of each other gives way for more opportunities for creating visible diversity. Almost forty years later, Claude Fischer contributes his thoughts on urban affect in his article Theories of Urbanism. In this article, Fischer describes three major theories of urbanism that work to transform our behaviors in society and the psychological effects on each individual. The first, he identifies the deterministic theory, which claims that urbanism increases the appearance of social and personality disorders more than those found in rural places. Going with Wirth s theory on the effect of increased stimuli in the city on individuals, Fischer believed that city dwellers respond by withdrawing from any unnecessary ... • 42. Censorship, Media Manipulation, And Betrayal In George Orwell s novel, 1984, he incorporates the major themes of censorship, media manipulation, and betrayal. The citizens of Oceania are constantly bombarded with different forms of propaganda, including the posters stating BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING and the Party s slogans, WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. Giant telescreens constantly run streams of propaganda in hopes of making the Party appear superior to the Brotherhood. According to Big Brother, sexual interactions should be kept to a minimum and only occur to populate and produce more Party supporters. The Party strongly encourages the children of Oceania to join the Junior Spies, an organization that brainwashes them to report their parents or guardians if they feel they are being disloyal to the Party and Big Brother. Nothing is private in the territory of Oceania; technological mechanisms, such as small microphones and helicopters acting as drones, are installed throughout to constantly monitor its members. As media manipulation evolves and the citizens become further brainwashed, individuals have a big decision to make, whether to rebel against the Party or betray their old ways of life. The people of Oceania cannot express their true thoughts, emotions, and feelings about the Party for the fear that the Thought Police will catch and turn them in. Corporate bonds are issued by corporations and carry default risk if the issuing corporation is not able to pay interest and principal payments. Corporate bonds make up a large portion of the overall bond market. Corporate bonds are characterized by higher yields than government securities cause there is a higher risk of a company defaulting than a government. The upside to this is that they can also be the most rewarding fixed income investments because of the risk the investor must take on, where higher credit companies that are more likely to pay back their obligations will carry a relatively lower interest rate than riskier borrowers. Companies can issue bonds with fixed or variable interest rates and of varying maturity. Municipal bonds carry risk similar to corporate bonds, they are often issued by state and local governments. The major advantage of municipal bonds is for investors since the returns are free from federal tax, and furthermore, state and local governments will often consider their debt non taxable for residents, making some municipal bonds completely tax free, sometimes called triple tax free. The yield on a municipal bond is usually lower than that of an equivalent taxable bond. Foreign bonds are issued by foreign governments carry default and extra risk if the bond ...
