Open Campus Lunch Research Paper
Should All Schools Have Open Campus Lunch?
During an open campus lunch break student can either go home to get food, go to a restaurant or a fast
food place. Open campus lunch is a good idea for students in high school in grades 10 through 12 and
the occasionally students in 9th grade because, it would save schools money by not having to make
much food, kids could have better food, it gives the students some free time, and it gives them a
chance to have more responsibility and independence. It would also give students a little bit of
freedom and a break from their classes. It is a privilege to be able to go off campus for lunch. If
students are not back in class after the given amount of time or in their next class, punish them. School

Students could leave campus, get food, and be back for time given from the school. If students could
leave campus to get either a restaurant, get food at home or a fast food restaurant the food would be so
much better than the schools food. Students could go to a small restaurant tor a diner. Students could
go home and make their selves food. They could go to fast foods restaurants around the area such as
McDonald s, Hardee s, or Subway. As long as students are back within the amount of time given
students should be able to leave campus to get food. School lunches are not healthy for students most
of the time. You do not know what the food they are serving you is half the time. If students were
allowed to leave school for lunch it would give them a little bit of freedom for an hour. If they could
leave campus for lunch it gives them a chance to have a break from their classes. Many students tend
to fall asleep in class, if they could have an hour lunch break they could go home eat and rest for a
little while. Students may feel trapped staying in one place for 8 hours. Many students also get bored

The Unjust Double Standards In Cosi By Lewis Nowra
Realism is a significant style of theatre as it enables audience to empathise, thus this style can educate,
empower and challenge audiences. Realism is an aesthetic mode which broke with the classical
demands of art to show life as it should be in order to show life as it is (Christopher Keep, 2000). Cosi
is an Australian realism play by Lewis Nowra, the play was written in the 1970s a time of political
movement, therefore the play explores various themes. In this concept, I want to specifically showcase
the unjust double standards that men have regarding women. In order to highlight this unfair double
standard through use of directorial techniques of lighting and staging interconnected with the dramatic
elements of symbol, tension and language. Through the utilisation of these elements and techniques
the theme of the unjust double standards will be effectively conveyed. This is a critical issue for
audiences to understand as this issue is still prevalent in society today. By educating audience on this
issue, this production will challenge how Australian society conduct themselves in everyday life.
Thus, leaving audience members with a sense of empowerment as they reflect on how women were
treated in the past and how this still mirrors modern day society.
Directors intent:
Through this directorial concept I intend to expose the unjust double standards that men have
regarding women. Through clear emphasis on this theme I want to capture the raw human emotion of
women,

The Final Contestants Of The Eighty Fourth Hunger Games
Greetings to the final contestants of the Seventy fourth Hunger Games. The earlier revision has been
revoked. Closer examination of the rule book has disclosed that only one winner may be allowed, he
says. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
There s a small burst of static and then nothing more. I stare at Peeta as I process what they have just
told us. I m furious, even more angry with the Capitol then I have already been. I take a second to
think about it but it makes me nervous, frustrated and enraged. Peeta and I both know what this means
and we need to make a decision fast before the Gamemakers decide it s boring the onlookers make a
verdict on how to liven us up once again for a more interesting and amusing attack. As for all, these
games are only for the amusement of the Capitol and those in the 12 districts that are into it. To Peeta
and I, the realisation and understanding that we are the only ones still in the arena hits us, therefore
one of us has to be the victor and by us I mean Peeta or me.
Peeta pulls what appear to be black berries out of his pocket. I can t seem to tell whether they re the
poisonous ones that I nearly ate earlier in the games or not although they do resemble some relation in
the colour, size and feeling when he drops four of these into my cold, shaking wet hands. I examine

An Agile Software Application Development Essay
The top reason for adopting an Agile software application development approach is that it promotes a
culture of collaboration and continuous feedback that concentrates on early delivery of superior
products that meet important end user requirements. Agile software development is in use by many
organizations and has been accepted not only as a method of developing software but in project
management as well. This business case will outline the justification for Company X to move towards
using the Agile development method and help guide management to evaluate and consider this option.
An article related to the Agile method of software development was perused in preparation for this
business case. The article examined is titled Agility in Context [1] (Hoda et al, 2010). This article
along with my prior employment experience with Company X has helped provide the context for this
business case. 3 BUSINESS NEED AND CURRENT SITUATION Company X is large corporation
that is involved in producing, selling, and maintaining advanced technological products to both
commercial and non commercial customers. For the reason that Company X is such a large company,
it is assumed that my account of their software development method is not company wide and only
attributable to that section of the company I was involved in. Based on interactions with the
organization s software development team with regards to a software application request, it was

The Choice of Medea
The Choice of Media Medea and her lack of control The story of Medea is a story of heartache, loss
and death. A reader may portray Medea as a strong woman and then again portrayed as a crazy
murderer. The question that arises often in conversation of this play is the question of Medea s choice
and lack of control. The play of Medea is delivered with obsessions and the love for Jason then
turning to death, revenge and dishonor. The answer is very clear that Medea is a woman in total
control of the actions done, and is willing to kill family and children for vengeance and satisfaction of
a pay back. Medea s root of anger and choices come from the love inside for Jason who causes the
ultimate betrayal. Medea was truly in love with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nurse s words and the Chorus s words were brushed aside as Medea s actions continued. Medea
was given a choice just as any young women or man is given a choice at the time of heartache,
betrayal or humility. The choice for anyone is to choose to show strength in walking away or fold to
the feelings of vengeance and revenge. Medea made a clear minded choice to follow the hurt and the
want of revenge to justify what happened to the life she once knew. Medea made the choice to poison
the new wife and the children. The actions were thought of and acted upon and only a woman strong,
clear minded and out for pure revenge could ever do these things. Medea spoke clearly of each detail
as the dirty dead was set up No let me have my way. They say the Gods themselves are moved by
gifts, and gold does more with men than words. ( Euripides 710) Jason falls for this begging and
convincing act of gifts by Medea. Medea pouting and reeling Jason in with kind words yet deceiving
results is the ultimate mind game. Jason could be considered a fool to fall for the gift of children,
clothes and a blessing from the heart that Medea offers. Jason doesn t believe that Medea could do the
unthinkable. Medea s words soft and convincing thought out and bold. Jason wanting nothing more

Gender And Optical Illusions
Introduction Paragraph
In my science fair project I tested whether gender matter in the way people see optical illusions. I
tested this because it sounded fascinating, and also interesting. Optical Illusions now in day, it s used
in many ways. They can be used as a way to trick people, to learn about sensory perception, and to
learn about how the brain perceives lighter values and dark values.
Research Summary
Optical illusions fool our brains by taking shortcuts, because the brain can t take everything at once.
Our brain is able to perceive lighter values more quickly than dark values. Our sense of light and dark
becomes unreliable during this.
Cognitive Illusions have four different categories of illusions which are Distorting, ambiguous, ...

Eukaryotic Cell Lab Report
All living things are composed of cells. A cell is the most basic unit of life and the smallest working
unit of living things. Cells can either be classified as prokaryotic or eukaryotic. A prokaryotic cell does
not have a nucleus and is the smallest type of cells. Whereas, eukaryotic cells are much more complex
and include a nucleus. For this lab the student used a cheek cell and an onion cell which are classified
as eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells also consist of many organelles. An organelle is one of several
structures with specialized functions, suspended in the cytoplasm of a eukaryotic cell. A list of
organelles are as follows: the nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum
(ER), ribosome, mitochondria, vacuole, lysosome and chloroplast. Both plant and animal ... Show

The function of the cell membrane is to separate the cell from its environment and regulate the
exchange of materials into and out of the cell. Along with the cell membrane, all cells have cytoplasm
which is the substance composed mostly of water that fills the cell s inner volume. The cytoplasm has
three functions which are to provide a medium for organelles to remain suspended in, a site for many
biochemical reactions, and aids in the movement of different cellular elements. In addition, both plant
and animal cells have a network of tubular membranes within the cytoplasm of the cell, that can be
either with a smooth surface (smooth endoplasmic reticulum) or studded with ribosomes (rough
endoplasmic reticulum) and are involved in the transport of materials. Mitochondrion which break
down sugar molecules into energy and a vacuole which stores food, water, and wastes are also
organelles that are found in eukaryotic cells. In addition, lysosomes are also present and break down
larger food molecules (lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins) into smaller molecules that can be used by
the rest of the cell. However, there are some organelles that are only present in

The Central Park Play Analysis
The Central Park Cast recreated their roles very well in Annie Jr. The play Annie Jr. has four main
characters are Annie who is an orphan, Miss Hannigan who is an orphanage matron, Grace Farrell
who is Mr. Warbucks s secretary, Mr. Warbucks who is a billionaire. This play is about an orphan girl
named Annie who was hopeless. Annie lived in horrible orphanage where Miss Hannigan was the
orphanage matron. Miss Hannigan is a has been who hated her job and the kids at the orphanage.
Annie tried to run away but the police officer caught her and brought her back to the horrible

music was good and I think that the cast sung well. Although, I could not understand what they were

Cell-Free Dna Blood Testing Research Paper
This paper will discuss the reasons why it is beneficial to the mother, fetus, and the couple to have
prenatal testing done. Specifically, this paper will look at ultrasound, amniocentesis, and cell free
DNA blood testing. Also, the paper will show why the benefits outweigh the negative outcomes of
having these kinds of testing done. With any pregnancy the risk of a child having a chromosomal
abnormality is increased the later the mother conceives. Women over the age of 35 have been shown
to have a higher rate of children who were born with a chromosomal disease (The Gale Encyclopedia

Genetic amniocentesis is performed with the intention of testing for chromosomal abnormalities.
During this the loose skin cells that are floating around in the amniotic fluid are collected, then sent to
a lab, and from there they will be grown or cultured for a few weeks. After the skin cells have had a
chance to grow to a respectable size, the lab will test for chromosomal issues. For this particular type
of amniocentesis, the procedure is done while the woman is between her 15th and 19th week of
pregnancy. Maturity amniocentesis is done on the amniotic fluid to test for the maturity of the fetus
lungs and whether they will be able to function during birth. Maturity is done during the 32nd and
39th week of pregnancy when the doctor has concerned about the women being able to carry to term

Political Campaign Rhetoric
Political Campaign Rhetoric
In 2004 the United States of America held a presidential election as it does every four years.
Throughout the process, from primary to convention, from the debates to Election Day, both the
candidates and the media relied on rhetoric to influence the thoughts of the electorate. Because of the
close results of the 2000 election and the bitter court battle that followed, the rhetoric of the
campaigns of both major candidates in 2004 was stronger and more focused than before. To show the
uses of this rhetoric and its effects on the public through the media, several topics are discussed

Considering the pre rational nature of religious affiliation for many Americans, then, we can see how
Bush s rhetoric concerning values and faith was not unlike propaganda, which seeks to short circuit
rational thought in order to illicit some desired response from the audience. By only discussing values
on the most superficial level, Bush was able to use people s faith to gain their support, when after
further debate and consideration they may have found that they did not agree with his stance.
In contrast with the typical conservative appeal to people of faith used by President Bush is the typical
liberal appeal to the class consciousness of the working class used by former vice presidential
candidate John Edwards. On the campaign trail he spoke of two Americas: people who are set for life
and do not work, and those who scrape by living paycheck to paycheck (Miller 2005). According to
Miller, Edwards intends for the audience to imagine the first as idle aristocrats. Considering the
semantics of the language used, the term set for life, describing the non worker, and the vivid imagery
of the wage earner struggling to survive form a sharp contrast that is intended to convince the working
class individual of two things: firstly, that they are in conflict

Art allows us to see a new aspect of the world and enhance our lives so people can truly learn who

Essay on Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
The Evils of Society Exposed in The Lottery
In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, what appears to be an ordinary day in a small town takes an evil turn
when a woman is stoned to death after winning the town lottery. The lottery in this story reflects an
old tradition of sacrificing a scapegoat in order to encourage the growth of crops. But this story is not
about the past, for through the actions of the town, Jackson shows us many of the social ills that exist
in our own lives.
In today s society we often have an all too casual attitude toward misfortune; Jackson shows us this
aspect of human nature through the town s casual attitude toward the lottery. The men talk of rain,
tractors and taxes and the women gossip all the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many things in our own society parallel the villagers actions. What do most people do when they see a
car accident? They fear it and then they look for carnage; we have to slow down and stare at an
accident Not only do we electrocute criminals, we want to watch the executions live on television.
Perhaps Jackson received the best example of this aspect of human nature; she claims that most of the
letters she received about the lottery wanted to know where these lotteries were held, and whether they
could go there and watch (Friedman 87). People were not shocked into examining their own lives.
They wanted to know where they could go see a live stoning.
Jackson also gives examples of hypocrisy, which runs rampant in today s society. Tessie is perfectly
willing to stone one of her neighbors, but when she is the one who is going to be stoned, she says, It
isn t fair, it isn t right (Jackson 868). Likewise, Mr. and Mrs. Adams talk of stopping the lottery, yet
when it comes time to stone Tessie, Mr. Adams is leading the pack. Also the men seem to be
concerned that women have a man to draw for them: Glad to see your mother s got a man to do it and
Don t you have a grown boy to do it (Jackson 865). But in the end the men no longer care about the
well being of the women; they must take the same chance at dying. The fact that Tessie is a woman
doesn t save her from dying. The Lottery also offers

Reflection on Home on the Range Class Essay
Throughout this class I have learned more than I thought that I would. Not being from a ranch or farm,
this class did not seem to pertain to me, but was the only one that I could fit. As the class began, I took
a likening to the class atmosphere and the discussions that we had. In the discussions, everyone s
opinion was valued and the atmosphere allowed you to feel comfortable saying what you felt and
while learning things, I also enjoyed the social aspect of the class. It was an important realization for
me that just because I don t come from a ranch or farm, learning about Home on the Range is
important in becoming well rounded, no matter my major I am studying, also, it is my state s history,
which is important to know.

Now that it has been used for that, it would be very difficult to revert it back to wild land with wild
animals.
Another, idea was to have more buffalo than cattle. Buffalo graze the land more evenly and, because
they are less domesticated, they are leaner meat. When first hearing about this, I was definitely all for
it. As I started thinking about it more, however, I decided that having as many buffalo as cattle would
just cause the buffalo to become just as domesticated as the cattle. This would mean that they would
probably end up overgrazing the land just as cattle do today. It is mostly the people s responsibility to
rotate the cattle. It is not the cattle s fault that they graze like they do. Also, if someone is eating red
meat, I would assume that they are not too worried about it affecting their health. Therefore the fact
that buffalo is leaner meat would make no difference to an all American red meat eater. Cattle are
cheaper and people have come to love that fatty, marbled meat. I would be open to eating more buffalo
meat, I just don t think that it will ever be as successful as the cattle industry, unfortunately.
Re wilding and having less domestic animals also brings about the talk of prairie grasses. It does
sadden me a little that most of our prairie grasses have been overgrazed and a lot of the grasses are
invasive species. I would love to go back to the time when the prairie grasses were tall and

Bay Leaves And Cinnamon Sticks Analysis
In Thelma B. Thompson s novel; Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks:Life Is, we will be looking at how
the Thompson uses Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. We will look at how the author uses Ethos, Pathos, and
Logos in relation to the main character, Jude. We will look at how the author uses Ethos, Pathos, and
Logos in response to the main character, Jude s self identity, self oppression, and family oppression.
The problem faced is Millie coming to America to financially support her family in Jamaica, and
building a new house in Jamaica. As the reader, as you read this novel, you may ask several questions
such as What is preventing Millie from supporting her family? Will Millie finish building her new
house in Jamaica?
Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks:Life Is , is a novel that is rich in the Jamaican culture with a
protagonist author. The main character, who is Millie, a god living, giving woman who refuses to
accept defeat. At times, Millie can be naive, but also capable of insight and wisdom.
As displayed in the novel, these positive traits work to attract others in the novel. Thompson portrays
the colorful lifestyle of the Caribbean and most stereotypes such as the lying, thieving man as a
husband, and having children who are selfish. In my opinion, there appears to not be any historical
context in connection within the novel.
The author s usage of Ethos in relationship to self identity is as follows. In the beginning of the novel,
Thompson, who is the author, undercovers how

Essay On Emphysema
Emphysema
Around 2 million Americans suffer from emphysema. Emphysema is known as a disease of the lung
that cause shortness of breath due to over inflation of the alveoli or air sacs in the lungs. It is a
progressive and irreversible condition in which the alveoli are damaged by inhaled irritants. In this
paper I will be discussing with you the causes, the process in which this disease develops, signs and
symptoms, the diagnosis, and any treatment of emphysema.
Causes
Emphysema is caused by a plethora of problems that I will soon discuss, but the number one cause of
emphysema is due to smoking. It is known that 85% of patients who get emphysema smoke, but not
all smokers will develop emphysema depending on their genetics. Smoking destroys the lung tissue
obstructing the airflow and can also cause inflammation and irritate the airways causing an
obstruction. Smoke damages the cilia in the bronchial tubes which are basically tiny hairs that usually
pushes irritants and germs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some patients dealing with emphysema may not even know they have the disease. The common
symptom of emphysema is shortness of breath. Its noticed during the earlier stages of the disease
when you re exercising or doing strenuous activities, also a chronic cough would be present. In the
later stages patients start to feel breathless while at rest, catching infections in the lungs often,
wheezing, fatigue, cyanosis of the extremities and copious mucus. The most noticeable sign of
emphysema is when a patient has pursed lipped breathing. That s when the patient has a hard time
exhaling completely to empty the trapped air in their lungs, so when they purse their lips creating a
small opening, it increases the pressure in the restricted airways, allowing them to open to empty the
trapped air. Patients tend to develop barrel chest as a result from air trapping due to obstructed

Food services, industrial, personal business, retail and specific shops, state services, auto, river, and
miscellaneous were the main industries. Industrial and personal business surprisingly showed
prominence over the other eight industries New Orleans citizens operated in. Industrial employment
embodied 27.5 percent of the working population, and personal business represented 24.2 percent.
Notably, the marine industry was one of the lowest industries in district one exhibiting only 5.7
percent of the population.
An equivalent simplification process was used for the seventy distinct types of industries listed by
Pittsburgh s fifteenth census. Entertainment, water services, retail and general stores, food services,
industrial work, transportation, general and state services, and self business signified the eight main
industries. Differentiating from the theories specified, water services commanded the data pool by
comprising 27.1 percent of the census population s employment. Unexpectedly, industrial work only
comprised 17.5 percent of the population making it the third largest behind general and state services,
which housed around 21.7 percent.
While researching secondary sources on the southern area of Louisiana, I found during 1930, the state
was beginning to focus on region and structural improvement work because of desired stimulation into

Famine, Affluence and Morality by Pete Singer
In the article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality , Pete Singer, a Utilitarian, argues that citizens in
affluent countries such as the United States have a moral obligation to give up as much as they can for
famine relief. Singer s contention in his article is that the way we morally conduct ourselves ought to
be reappraised. (Singer, 230). I Singer s argument, and in this paper, I will examine the distinction
between duty and charity, compare both deontological and consequential theories of ethics, and
address Immanuel Kant and Pete Singer s similarities and their utilitarian resolution to such problems.
I will conclude how we have a moral duty to relieve suffering in the world, and why it is wrong if we
abstain from our moral obligation.
In his article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer tries to emphasize the importance of helping
those in need. He believes that if it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening without
sacrificing anything else of moral importance then we have a moral obligation to do it. (Singer, 231).
By this, Singer means that each and every one of us has the power to prevent the terrible things that
negatively affects the world. For example, if we are in a situation where we have the ability to prevent
something morally wrong from happening but we let it pass by, he describes this as not just laziness
but moral wrongdoing. Singer argues if you come across a child who is drowning and it is easy to
wade in and rescue the child but by

Informative Essay On Black Tea
Over the years, coffee has been termed to be harmful to health, and more people have turned to tea.
Globally, tea is the second most commonly consumed beverage after water, with black tea constituting
75 percent. All tea originates from the herb Camellia sinensis. Despite a lot of criticism surrounding
caffeinated drinks, when it comes to black tea, it might be a healthy choice as some studies have
shown.
Black tea is made through withering, rolling and fully oxidizing the leaves. Before the final heating
process, black tea leaves are fermented. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, amino acids, fluoride,
carbohydrates, manganese, proteins, potassium, xanthine, guanine, and trace minerals. It also contains
tannins that give it astringency and catechins which are powerful antioxidants that destroy cancer
causing cells and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
There are various health benefits that are associated with taking black tea regularly due to the presence
of multiple polyphenols and antioxidants. Black tea contains explicitly complex flavonoids
polyphenols that assist in preventing diseases. Theaflavin and thearubigin are among the flavonoid
that acts as strong antioxidants. Thearubigin gives black tea its red color. Studies have shown that
thearubigins benefit the mind and body in various ways. To harness the power of black tea, researchers
advise that, milk or sugar should not be added.

Pros:
1. First mover advantage. 2. Delaying the launch probably would result with competition coming up

that is one of the key expense areas for Precise).
Cons
1. No proper user interface would hamper the reputation of the product and company as a whole
(something for which they have stood for ). 2. Since the roll out will be a beta version, there will be
loads of development required. The competition may then imitate the product and come up with their

Compare And Contrast The New England And Massachusetts...
Although the New England and Chesapeake colonies were settled by people of English origin, by
1700 they were two distinct societies. What accounts for these differences? Basically, the motives, the
geography and the values of the people in the colonies were combined to form two very separate
societies in Massachusetts and Virginia. Of course both societies contain settlers from Britain.
However, the motives and the values in each society were drastically different from each other. Most
people who went to Massachusetts have done so because they hope to create an utopia for their
religious beliefs. Most people to Virginia, look for economic opportunity in many different ways.
People who have gone to Virginia were seeking economic opportunity. Some were there to look for
gold, but others came to work as indentured servants for a few years. Additionally, there were people
sent to serve as wives for the men already there. In return for their service as servants, they should
have acquired passage to America, shelter, food, and clothes (Indenture Agreement Between Richard

The Problem Of The Disabled People
I am exploring the disabled people are not discriminate against, and how they get respect from people.
People cannot ignore the problem of the disabled people because it is not only about the disabled
people, but also about people. The problem of the disabled people will influence the development of
the country, so it also influence people s life. Discriminating against the disabled people is not good
for the country s development. Nowadays, people more and more care about the disabled people
because when they watch a movie about the disabled people, the audience will think about the
problem of the disabled people in reality. In many countries, the policy and system for protecting the
disabled people are not perfect. In reality, people still see the disabled people homeless sleep in the
street, so it means that the government should make some policy to help the disabled people, and solve
the problem. The disabled people need people s respect because sometimes they are fragile and have
weak self confidence. If people do not look at the disabled people in the surprise and different way, the
disabled people will feel more comfortable. Elimination of discrimination will changes attitude of the
disabled people, so they will think in the positive way. At the same time, people should think about
how they treat the disabled people, what else they can do for the disabled people. Everyone knows that
the disabled people need help from society, but seldom people will exactly know how to

vulnerability assessment and issuing warnings within a few seconds using initial P wave motion at a

(m/2π).Kd. ab2 Kd = A2/F (3) where m is the mass of the object undergoing seismic acceleration. The
dominant frequency (F) and amplification factor (A) are directly related to the seismic motion applied
to the train body. The dynamic characteristics of the trains are known in general. F and A are estimated
from F g and Ag for a train resting on the ground surface. For a train resting on a structure, these
values are termed as Fsg and Asg for both structures and ground. Site characteristics are reflected by
the Kd value. In the case of a large Kd value, work rate (w) and the possibility of derailment/overturn
are also large. The Kd value was therefore considered as an index of vulnerability of trains to
derailment overturn. As previously mentioned, Kd values for a train derailment/overturning are
directly related to the power of earthquake motion. It has also been clearly shown that there is a strong
relation between K value and damage. Starting from equation (3), two new parameters PI (P wave

The earthquake destructiveness is estimated with the help of the power density PD (W/kg) of the
earthquake vibration which is calculated from the inner product of the acceleration vector a (cm/s2)

The Essure Medical Device
The Essure Medical Device consists of flexible coils that are non surgically placed within the
Fallopian tubes. This device is a permanent form of birth control.
Essure s flexible coils are inserted through the vagina, past the cervix and into the Fallopian tubes.
Once inserted, the device causes a build up of the tissue within the Fallopian tubes. Over a period of
approximately three months, this tissue blocks the Fallopian tubes; thus, preventing the sperm from
traveling through them to fertilize an egg.
Three months following insertion, a radiologist checks to make sure that the Fallopian tubes are
blocked. Directly before the x ray is taken, a contrast dye is injected through the patient s cervix to
ensure that there is no leakage of dye past the Essure Medical Device.

The Importance Of Government Censorship On Social Media
In an age where more and more people are using social media for both personal and professional
reasons, there is an increasing amount of government censorship, as well as self censorship, evident
on widely used social media platforms. After conducting research on this topic, I have discovered the
very fine line between using social networking sites for personal uses versus professional uses.
According to scholars, while only 47% of nonacademics use social media for professional purposes,
about 91% of university faculty members use social networking sites in class or for other professional
reasons (Moran, Seaman, Tinti Kane, 2011). Professionals, particularly academic professionals, have
to keep a squeaky clean presence on social media. In this paper, I will discuss my research regarding
self censorship on social media, government intervention and censorship and what that means for the
American principle of free speech, and tell some stories of individuals who have personal experiences
with these problems.
Freedom of speech is a basic right in America, granted to citizens by the Frist Amendment to the
Constitution of the United States. Many countries do not have laws protecting free speech, and in fact
have censorship laws that do the exact opposite. Many Americans as well as other people around the
world use social media as a means of expressing their own views and opinions on topics such as
politics, world news, social justice issues, and simply to express themselves as

Differences Between American Colonies And New England...
The American colonies were a diverse and interesting people. The colonies are typically split between
the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies would eventually
make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they both had their similarities
and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies and how were they similar?
This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world. The southern colonies were mainly
controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most land and had the most slaves. Below them
were the small farmers that had a few slaves and much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were
the landless white people. This social ladder made up the economic and political worlds in the south.
The planters were the most powerful politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the
New England colonies that were more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their
families rather than on the next crop growth. The south had very fertile land and this led to the planters
taking over the social landscape. In New England the land wasn t as good and the population wasn t

The Seven Gothic Tales By Karen Blixen Christensen
The Seven Gothic Tales is a collection of short stories that was published in 1934 by the author Karen
Blixen Christensen under her pseudonym Isak Dinesen. It is a collection of seven stories that is
included among them The Deluge of Norderney, The Supper at Elsinore, The Monkey and The Old
Chevalier among others. The first two stories listed above are the most well known of the seven tales
and amongst the authors most famous works. The book has been described as a modern classic that
contains seven stories which combine the psychological insight that is characteristic of the short
stories in the modern age with the gothic style writing that are characteristic of the tales in the
nineteenth century. Karen was a well known Danish author who rose to prominence with the
publishing of this collection of short stories as well as her most famous piece of work, the memoir
named Out of Africa.
Many of the subplots that are contained in this book deal with the issue of the aristocracy in Europe
whose influence at the time was waning during the mid nineteenth century. The struggle for the
aristocracy, concerned with the passing down their heredity through the generations, was concern that
their breeding lines had been illegitimated; this is a major plot in the short tale The Deluge of
Norderney .
Most of the stories also contain an element of the supernatural. The theme brought about here is that
rather than being the forces that control the path of their destinies, men are

Syria Is The Heart Of The Middle East
Syria is located in Southwest Asia. According to National Geographic Syria is considered to be the
heart of the Middle East because of its borders. Syria borders Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey,
Cyprus, but most importantly the Mediterranean Sea. Even though, the relationship between Russia
and Syria wasn t the best throughout the years it has become important. Syria has become an
important ally to Russia. Russia and Syria s relationship can be best described as a strategic plan. It
can be viewed as a strategic plan due to Russia s main concerns or interests toward Syria s weapons,
trade, natural resources and the access to the Mediterranean Sea. The Syrian Civil War is a war fought
to bring an end to the Authoritarian practices performed from the Assad family (Sharwood, pg. 1).
From 1971 to 2000 Hafez al Assad was President of Syria. Following the reign of Hafez al Assad his
son Bashar al Assad became President of Syria. Throughout the reign of his father violence was used
to suppress protests. This included the excessive use of police, military and paramilitary forces.
Therefore, these practices have served as a guide to solving problems. It is stated, The malign but
tactically brilliant Hafez al Assad blighted the Middle East with disproportionate Syrian influence for
decades. His son, the feckless Bashar, has continued this pattern since 2000 by sending terrorists to
Iraq, murdering Lebanon s Prime Minister Rafiq al Hariri, overthrowing his son Saad, aiding the

Essay On Fahrenheit 451
Why shouldn t Fahrenheit 451 be banned?
Ban books or burn them? Ray Bradbury wrote his famous novel Fahrenheit 451 in 1953 fantasizing
about a world in which books were banned, and when a book was found it was burnt and destroyed.
Little did he know that his thought of books being banned could actually happen and that it would be
one of his own. Today Fahrenheit 451 is being banned and challenged in schools all across America.
How ironic that a book about books being banned is now being banned around the country. A prize
winning book by a prize winning author is now being questioned as to whether it is a good book to
teach in an English class. Though Fahrenheit 451 may contain controversial elements such as
language, discussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is discussion of being drunk, smoking, violence, overdosing, and using God s name in vain. At
the very beginning of the book the main character, Guy Montag, comes home to find that his wife
Mildred passed out from overdosing on her sleeping pills. Though the society is said to consist of a lot
of group violence there isn t an actual scene of the violence, just description. Parents are also
challenging this book because of these things. One thing to remember is this is a dystopian fiction
book so it is all made up. Knowing the genre should allow students to not take it seriously. There are
plenty of books published that consist of way more drugs, drinking, and violence that any kid can go
get from their local library to read. If they are going to ban Fahrenheit 451 for their bad activities they
may as well start regulating books that kids get from the library.
In Fahrenheit 451 the role of a fireman is opposite of what it is today. In today s time firemen are here
to help in emergencies. They are supposed to put out fires. In Fahrenheit 451 everything is fireproof so
they aren t necessarily needed anymore. Books are banned because they are considered useless. The
firemen s new job is to burn and destroy any book found. An issue in the book is when the firemen get
a call to an old woman s house that is filled with books. She refuses to let her books burn so she starts
the fire herself and burns with the

The Inside Perspective Of An Outsider
The Inside Perspective Of An Outsider
I read everything I could find. I spoke with natives who were visiting the United States. I studied the
language diligently. I scrutinized pictures, noting each detail. Nothing prepared me for that first long
walk along a Beijing street. I smelled for the first time, the smells that were to become a familiar
component of my three month stay in The People s Republic of China. I made eye contact with people
who had formerly just been captured still lifes on a reference book s glossy page. I attempted to speak
my broken Chinese with people who did not care that my book at home had taught me the words for
ambassador and diplomat. I took my first tentative step towards cultural understanding. The ... Show

The popular modern idea of culture was an abstract system an evolving thing in and of itself. With the
advent of postmodernity, anthropologists are forced to admit no absolute cultural reality. Culture,
consequently, is composed of constructed narratives and symbolic dialogue (Bodley, 1997, p.10). The
excitement of this postmodern twist lies in the resulting malleability and dynamic fluid energy of
culture.
Both Spradley (1979) and Bodley (1997) note three explicit components of this ever changing culture:
the words or thoughts of people, the actions of people, and the artifacts used or material products
produced by the people (p.8, p.10).
Doing ethnography, again, means describing a culture. The ethnographer seeks to understand another
way of life from the native point of view. Spradley (1979) rightfully places emphasis on learning from
people rather than studying about people (p.3). A successful ethnographer not only collects data about
a certain people, but seeks first and foremost to be taught by the people. Spradley and McCurdy
(1972) note that ethnography seeks to describe a culture using those criteria that his informants
employ as they observe, interpret, and describe their own experiences during the course of life (p.18).
The core of ethnography then, is to understand the meaning of actions and events the way the natives
understand their meaning. Spradley (1979) eloquently outlines the

Dharma Bums
Erica Schlecht Professor George Dorsty English 223 2 April 2013 A True Dharma Bum One of the
most powerful quotes in the entire book that I feel sums up what it is to be a dharma bum, I felt free
and therefore I was free . This quote from Ray Smith shows that a dharma bum must always believe in
oneself and take the journey to becoming a Dharma bum from within. Although one can learn from
fellow dharma bums such as the Saint Teresa bum, Han Shan, and Japhy the ultimate truth of being
Dharma bum comes from within. Saint Teresa Bum is the first genuine dharma bum that Ray Smith,
the main character is Dharma Bums has ever met. The book starts off with Smith jumping into a box
car where he runs into the Saint Teresa bum. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 24 the same idea is brought up, Maybe I ll be rich and work and make a lot of money and
live in a big house. But a minute later: And who wants to enslave himself to a lot of all that, though?
(Chapter 24). Jack Kerouac s writing about this shows that dharma bums do not need to fit into the
mold of working society to be happy. At the same time a dharma bum is not one that sits around doing
nothing, but one who constantly searches for oneself in nature and the things around him. This is
shown in another quote from the book, by God, you re right, all those sedentary bums sitting around
on pillows hearing the cry of a triumphant mountain smasher, they don t deserve it (Chapter 12).
Smith discusses what he has learned from Japhy here, I realized I had indeed learned from Japhy how
to cast off the evils for the world and the city and find my true pure soul, just as long as I had a decent
pack on my back. I got back to my camp and spread the sleeping bag and thanked the Lord for all He
was giving me (156). Japhy has taught Smith that the Lord gives us all that we need and to look within
the find true Dharma Bum peace. Being a Dharma Bum is not something that can be defined as one
particular thing. Following certain procedures such as disposing of worldly possessions to look within
and find oneself is a good step, but cannot truly define one s journey. The Dharma Bums that Smith
learns from, the

Make Indi The Road Ahead For India s Development Saga Or...
Make in India: the road ahead for India s Development Saga or is it just another rhetoric?
Abstract:
Make in India campaign is an initiative that attracts the industrialists to make India a manufacturing
hub that helps to create jobs. India ranks 142nd in the ease of doing business and it is becoming
increasingly difficult for both Indian and foreign businessmen to start a business in India. The
infrastructure in India is not good enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity
between the cities in India. The other bottleneck are taxation, Government policies, labor laws, ease of
obtaining licenses and land acquisition. India must also compete with its neighbor China as both the
nations are seen as growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, India has always been an agricultural nation. The major share of GDP is from this sector
till the early 1950s and 60s. Down the line, its share began to decline and service sector started to
emerge. Today service sector players a prominent role in the economy of India. On the other hand,
Industrial sector has been growing right from the beginning but the growth is minimal when compared
to service sector. The Following graph depicts the percentage share of Individual Sectors in the
country. Figure 1: Shares of Agriculture, Industry and Services in India
As observed clearly from the above graph, the growth of Indian Manufacturing Sector has been
minimal. This can be attributed to the myriad factors that hinder the Indian Industrial sector. On a
closer introspection, there are major reasons in the country which holds back the Indian Economy.
Firstly, India lacks the optimum prerequisite for the growth of Industrial Sector i.e Infrastructure. India
is lagging in terms of infrastructure and more private players and public private partnership should be
encouraged to bring about the change. One such example is Jamshedpur built by TATA. It shows that
the problems are able to overcome with proper policy changes.
Secondly, power poses the next hindrance for the Industrial Sector. The issues related to power should
be resolved as early as possible in the near future. Lack of power is a big hurdle to the running of
industries. Many

Cost
I was given a budget of £4800 in order to create a suite of 6 computers that would be suitable for
students to use in their advanced apprenticeships, in order to create portfolios. I have costed the whole
project and my quote would be £4098.06. This includes VAT and because I have bought in the UK
there are no more further costs such as exports. A breakdown of the costs of the project is listed in the
table below:

User Requirements
The user of the computer suite will be students completing their advanced apprenticeships (AA) and
wish to make an E Portfolio with all of their work on it. To achieve this I have chosen to use an online
office package available from OneDrive. This will make the students information more secure as thy
can save to an online storage space that is included in the package. The whole package is free and the
students can work on their AA from whatever location they want to when they log into their one drive.
OneDrive provides a word processing document with all of the properties needed for the students, a
spreadsheet document and PowerPoint document. Therefore the students will have all of the
applications that they need wherever they are all free of charge.
Also the students are required to be able to make videos at a basic level and edit the. For this I have
decided that the computers will use the software Microsoft Movie Maker. This has the capability to be
able to cut, edit and add effects videos quite easily. It is also free with Windows, which saves money
in the budget. I feel that this version of video editing will provide the students with enough to be able
to create good quality videos.
Finally the students want a phot editing software. For this I have chosen GIMP. This is a free service
that is available to download off the internet and provides most of the features that Photoshop has to
offer, just at a

The Current Future Of Human Resource
There are three distinctive articles that discussed the future of Human Resource. Kwan the author of
The Cornell HR review suggests: As companies continue to flourish in a global setting, the essence of
work and managerial relationships will grow increasingly convoluted. Proposals will span across
conventional functional and geographical divisions, magnifying the need for greater grasp of sharing
and fraternization. With a higher premium placed on attaining pliability and suppleness, corporations
that rely on strong intramural networks have been more prosperous at coordinating effectiveness and
metamorphosis. From a talent management aspect, organizations will need to embrace a more network
centric technique to promote ascendancy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most commonly used planning period of six months to one year focuses on short range the
immediate HR needs of an organization. Intermediate and long term forecasting are much more
difficult processes. Intermediate range tactic proposal usually projects one to three years into the
future, and long range plans continues beyond three years (p.50).
According to an article titled The HR Department of 2020: 6 Big Predictions( Osterhaus, 2013):
Prediction 1: In house HR will downsize and outsourcing will increase.
Industry examiner Brian Sommer, the founder of TechVentive, profess an alter to miniature HR
departments will be generated by new technologies and heightened employee contribution in HR
processes. As he claims, Many businesses are going to get a lot of capability done by better
technology, more self service and the employee doing a lot on their own. ( Osterhaus, 2013). For
example, employees will increasingly offer their own intelligence into self service systems.
Prediction 2: Strategic thinking will become in house HR s new core competence.
More recently, an Economist Intelligence Unit report emphasized the need for C suite administration
to partner with HR to steer growth. In consolation of that, over half the specialists that he interviewed
indicated that HR needs to enlarge its strategic advantage to the business or else. Dr. Presser says, This
includes the ability to make accurate projections based on

Ten Reasons Why Biotechnology Will Not Ensure Food Security, Protect the Environment and
Reduce Poverty in the Developing World
An article written by Miguel A. Altieri and Peter Rosset (1999) addresses certain potential issues and
misconceptions about biotechnology. For instance, this article suggests that biotechnology will not
ensure food security, protect the environment, and will not reduce poverty in the developing world.
The article points out that there is no relationship between a hungry country and its population, and
that the world produces more food than ever before. The real cause of hunger is not the lack of food
but the lack of resources to buy it and the lack of land for people to grow their own food. New
improvements in biotechnology will not reduce hunger as the vast majority of improvements in
biotechnology have been created not because companies want to improve the agriculture or reduce
hunger, but because they want to make a profit. An example provided says that new biotechnical
innovations increase expenses per acre for seeds plus chemicals, which results in a lower return to the
growers growers are spending more than what they making. Discount packages are offered by
biotechnology companies, but only when purchasing technology packages.
Additionally, recent studies have shown that genetic engineered seeds do not increase the yield of the
crops. In 1998 a study conducted by the USDA

are dictated by the MCAT, Yale s distributional requirements, and the extensive MCDB major. Global
Health Fellows are granted priority enrollment into courses that would allow me to explore different

The poor of Guaymas relied on this clinic for some of life s essentials, and this clinic was willing and
enthusiastic to help them. This relationship inspired me to learn more about Guaymas s healthcare
system and its willingness to assist the poor, leading me to volunteer in a free EMS service and a
public hospital during future trips to my father s hometown.
As I continued visiting Guaymas and participating in institutions that provided its citizens medical
assistance, I gained a deeper appreciation of all the factors that made this connection possible. I
became conscious of the education, the technology, and the opportunities that the providers were
afforded and wanted to learn more about why they weren t being granted to the poor of Guaymas. As I
arrived at Yale, I wished to study what circumstances were behind these disparities, and was drawn to
HLTH 230 with Professor Talbert Slagle, where I learned about social determinants of health that were
responsible for the contrast I witnessed in my time in Guaymas.
Just as I and my knowledge continue to grow at Yale, I hope that my impact on the less fortunate
continues to as well. I am involved with Community Health Educators and the HAVEN free clinic in
New Haven, and I hope to take the skills and the exposure I gain from these organizations to assist
those in other countries. I have applied to Student

Perhaps Jackson received the best example of this aspect of human nature; she claims that most of the letters she received about the lottery wanted to know where these lotteries were held, and whether they could go there and watch (Friedman 87). In the discussions, everyone s opinion was valued and the atmosphere allowed you to feel comfortable saying what you felt and while learning things, I also enjoyed the social aspect of the class. It was an important realization for me that just because I don t come from a ranch or farm, learning about Home on the Range is important in becoming well rounded, no matter my major I am studying, also, it is my state s history, which is important to know. Another, idea was to have more buffalo than cattle. Buffalo graze the land more evenly and, because they are less domesticated, they are leaner meat. When first hearing about this, I was definitely all for it. As I started thinking about it more, however, I decided that having as many buffalo as cattle would just cause the buffalo to become just as domesticated as the cattle. This would mean that they would probably end up overgrazing the land just as cattle do today. It is mostly the people s responsibility to rotate the cattle. It is not the cattle s fault that they graze like they do. Also, if someone is eating red meat, I would assume that they are not too worried about it affecting their health. Therefore the fact that buffalo is leaner meat would make no difference to an all American red meat eater. Cattle are cheaper and people have come to love that fatty, marbled meat. I would be open to eating more buffalo meat, I just don t think that it will ever be as successful as the cattle industry, unfortunately. Re wilding and having less domestic animals also brings about the talk of prairie grasses. • 23. Essay On Emphysema Emphysema Around 2 million Americans suffer from emphysema. Emphysema is known as a disease of the lung that cause shortness of breath due to over inflation of the alveoli or air sacs in the lungs. It is a progressive and irreversible condition in which the alveoli are damaged by inhaled irritants. In this paper I will be discussing with you the causes, the process in which this disease develops, signs and symptoms, the diagnosis, and any treatment of emphysema. Causes Emphysema is caused by a plethora of problems that I will soon discuss, but the number one cause of emphysema is due to smoking. It is known that 85% of patients who get emphysema smoke, but not all smokers will develop emphysema depending on their genetics. Smoking destroys the lung tissue obstructing the airflow and can also cause inflammation and irritate the airways causing an obstruction. In the later stages patients start to feel breathless while at rest, catching infections in the lungs often, wheezing, fatigue, cyanosis of the extremities and copious mucus. The most noticeable sign of emphysema is when a patient has pursed lipped breathing. That s when the patient has a hard time exhaling completely to empty the trapped air in their lungs, so when they purse their lips creating a small opening, it increases the pressure in the restricted airways, allowing them to open to empty the trapped air. Famine, Affluence and Morality by Pete Singer In the article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality , Pete Singer, a Utilitarian, argues that citizens in affluent countries such as the United States have a moral obligation to give up as much as they can for famine relief. Singer s contention in his article is that the way we morally conduct ourselves ought to be reappraised. (Singer, 230). I Singer s argument, and in this paper, I will examine the distinction between duty and charity, compare both deontological and consequential theories of ethics, and address Immanuel Kant and Pete Singer s similarities and their utilitarian resolution to such problems. I will conclude how we have a moral duty to relieve suffering in the world, and why it is wrong if we abstain from our moral obligation. In his article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer tries to emphasize the importance of helping those in need. He believes that if it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening without sacrificing anything else of moral importance then we have a moral obligation to do it. (Singer, 231). By this, Singer means that each and every one of us has the power to prevent the terrible things that negatively affects the world. For example, if we are in a situation where we have the ability to prevent something morally wrong from happening but we let it pass by, he describes this as not just laziness but moral wrongdoing. What accounts for these differences? Basically, the motives, the geography and the values of the people in the colonies were combined to form two very separate societies in Massachusetts and Virginia. Of course both societies contain settlers from Britain. However, the motives and the values in each society were drastically different from each other. Most people who went to Massachusetts have done so because they hope to create an utopia for their religious beliefs. Most people to Virginia, look for economic opportunity in many different ways. People who have gone to Virginia were seeking economic opportunity. Some were there to look for gold, but others came to work as indentured servants for a few years. Additionally, there were people sent to serve as wives for the men already there. In return for their service as servants, they should have acquired passage to America, shelter, food, and clothes (Indenture Agreement Between Richard Smyth and Margaret Williams, 1659). The problem of the disabled people will influence the development of the country, so it also influence people s life. Discriminating against the disabled people is not good for the country s development. Nowadays, people more and more care about the disabled people because when they watch a movie about the disabled people, the audience will think about the problem of the disabled people in reality. In many countries, the policy and system for protecting the disabled people are not perfect. The main UrEDAS functions are the estimation of magnitude and location, vulnerability assessment and issuing warnings within a few seconds using initial P wave motion at a single station. UrEDAS calculates parameters such as back azimuth, predominant frequency for magnitude evaluation and vertical to horizontal ratio for discrimination between P and S waves, using the amplitude for each sample in realtime. The dominant frequency (F) and amplification factor (A) are directly related to the seismic motion applied to the train body. The dynamic characteristics of the trains are known in general. F and A are estimated from F g and Ag for a train resting on the ground surface. For a train resting on a structure, these values are termed as Fsg and Asg for both structures and ground. Site characteristics are reflected by the Kd value. In the case of a large Kd value, work rate (w) and the possibility of derailment/overturn are also large. The Kd value was therefore considered as an index of vulnerability of trains to derailment overturn. As previously mentioned, Kd values for a train derailment/overturning are directly related to the power of earthquake motion. It has also been clearly shown that there is a strong relation between K value and damage. Starting from equation (3), two new parameters PI (P wave Index) and DI (Damage Intensity) were proposed. The colonies are typically split between the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies would eventually make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they both had their similarities and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies and how were they similar? This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world. The southern colonies were mainly controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most land and had the most slaves. Below them were the small farmers that had a few slaves and much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were the landless white people. This social ladder made up the economic and political worlds in the south. The planters were the most powerful politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the New England colonies that were more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their families rather than on the next crop growth. It can be viewed as a strategic plan due to Russia s main concerns or interests toward Syria s weapons, trade, natural resources and the access to the Mediterranean Sea. The Syrian Civil War is a war fought to bring an end to the Authoritarian practices performed from the Assad family (Sharwood, pg. 1). From 1971 to 2000 Hafez al Assad was President of Syria. Following the reign of Hafez al Assad his son Bashar al Assad became President of Syria. Throughout the reign of his father violence was used to suppress protests. This included the excessive use of police, military and paramilitary forces. Therefore, these practices have served as a guide to solving problems. It is stated, The malign but tactically brilliant Hafez al Assad blighted the Middle East with disproportionate Syrian influence for decades. His son, the feckless Bashar, has continued this pattern since 2000 by sending terrorists to Iraq, murdering Lebanon s Prime Minister Rafiq al Hariri, overthrowing his son Saad, aiding the ... • 41. Essay On Fahrenheit 451 Why shouldn t Fahrenheit 451 be banned? Ban books or burn them? Ray Bradbury wrote his famous novel Fahrenheit 451 in 1953 fantasizing about a world in which books were banned, and when a book was found it was burnt and destroyed. Little did he know that his thought of books being banned could actually happen and that it would be one of his own. Today Fahrenheit 451 is being banned and challenged in schools all across America. How ironic that a book about books being banned is now being banned around the country. A prize winning book by a prize winning author is now being questioned as to whether it is a good book to teach in an English class. Though Fahrenheit 451 may contain controversial elements such as language, discussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is discussion of being drunk, smoking, violence, overdosing, and using God s name in vain. At the very beginning of the book the main character, Guy Montag, comes home to find that his wife Mildred passed out from overdosing on her sleeping pills. Though the society is said to consist of a lot of group violence there isn t an actual scene of the violence, just description. Parents are also challenging this book because of these things. One thing to remember is this is a dystopian fiction book so it is all made up. Knowing the genre should allow students to not take it seriously. There are plenty of books published that consist of way more drugs, drinking, and violence that any kid can go get from their local library to read. If they are going to ban Fahrenheit 451 for their bad activities they may as well start regulating books that kids get from the library. In Fahrenheit 451 the role of a fireman is opposite of what it is today. In today s time firemen are here to help in emergencies. They are supposed to put out fires. In Fahrenheit 451 everything is fireproof so they aren t necessarily needed anymore. Books are banned because they are considered useless. The firemen s new job is to burn and destroy any book found. An issue in the book is when the firemen get a call to an old woman s house that is filled with books. She refuses to let her books burn so she starts the fire herself and burns with the ... • 42. The Inside Perspective Of An Outsider The Inside Perspective Of An Outsider I read everything I could find. I spoke with natives who were visiting the United States. I studied the language diligently. I scrutinized pictures, noting each detail. Nothing prepared me for that first long walk along a Beijing street. I smelled for the first time, the smells that were to become a familiar component of my three month stay in The People s Republic of China. I made eye contact with people who had formerly just been captured still lifes on a reference book s glossy page. I attempted to speak my broken Chinese with people who did not care that my book at home had taught me the words for ambassador and diplomat. I took my first tentative step towards cultural understanding. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The popular modern idea of culture was an abstract system an evolving thing in and of itself. With the advent of postmodernity, anthropologists are forced to admit no absolute cultural reality. Culture, consequently, is composed of constructed narratives and symbolic dialogue (Bodley, 1997, p.10). The excitement of this postmodern twist lies in the resulting malleability and dynamic fluid energy of culture. Both Spradley (1979) and Bodley (1997) note three explicit components of this ever changing culture: the words or thoughts of people, the actions of people, and the artifacts used or material products produced by the people (p.8, p.10). Doing ethnography, again, means describing a culture. The ethnographer seeks to understand another way of life from the native point of view. Spradley (1979) rightfully places emphasis on learning from people rather than studying about people (p.3). A successful ethnographer not only collects data about a certain people, but seeks first and foremost to be taught by the people. Spradley and McCurdy (1972) note that ethnography seeks to describe a culture using those criteria that his informants employ as they observe, interpret, and describe their own experiences during the course of life (p.18). The core of ethnography then, is to understand the meaning of actions and events the way the natives understand their meaning. Spradley (1979) eloquently outlines the ... Dharma Bums Erica Schlecht Professor George Dorsty English 223 2 April 2013 A True Dharma Bum One of the most powerful quotes in the entire book that I feel sums up what it is to be a dharma bum, I felt free and therefore I was free . This quote from Ray Smith shows that a dharma bum must always believe in oneself and take the journey to becoming a Dharma bum from within. Although one can learn from fellow dharma bums such as the Saint Teresa bum, Han Shan, and Japhy the ultimate truth of being Dharma bum comes from within. Saint Teresa Bum is the first genuine dharma bum that Ray Smith, the main character is Dharma Bums has ever met. In chapter 24 the same idea is brought up, Maybe I ll be rich and work and make a lot of money and live in a big house. But a minute later: And who wants to enslave himself to a lot of all that, though? (Chapter 24). Jack Kerouac s writing about this shows that dharma bums do not need to fit into the mold of working society to be happy. At the same time a dharma bum is not one that sits around doing nothing, but one who constantly searches for oneself in nature and the things around him. This is shown in another quote from the book, by God, you re right, all those sedentary bums sitting around on pillows hearing the cry of a triumphant mountain smasher, they don t deserve it (Chapter 12). Smith discusses what he has learned from Japhy here, I realized I had indeed learned from Japhy how to cast off the evils for the world and the city and find my true pure soul, just as long as I had a decent pack on my back. I got back to my camp and spread the sleeping bag and thanked the Lord for all He was giving me (156). Japhy has taught Smith that the Lord gives us all that we need and to look within the find true Dharma Bum peace. Being a Dharma Bum is not something that can be defined as one particular thing. Following certain procedures such as disposing of worldly possessions to look within and find oneself is a good step, but cannot truly define one s journey. Abstract: Make in India campaign is an initiative that attracts the industrialists to make India a manufacturing hub that helps to create jobs. India ranks 142nd in the ease of doing business and it is becoming increasingly difficult for both Indian and foreign businessmen to start a business in India. The infrastructure in India is not good enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity between the cities in India. On the other hand, Industrial sector has been growing right from the beginning but the growth is minimal when compared to service sector. The Following graph depicts the percentage share of Individual Sectors in the country. Figure 1: Shares of Agriculture, Industry and Services in India As observed clearly from the above graph, the growth of Indian Manufacturing Sector has been minimal. This can be attributed to the myriad factors that hinder the Indian Industrial sector. On a closer introspection, there are major reasons in the country which holds back the Indian Economy. Firstly, India lacks the optimum prerequisite for the growth of Industrial Sector i.e Infrastructure. India is lagging in terms of infrastructure and more private players and public private partnership should be encouraged to bring about the change. One such example is Jamshedpur built by TATA. It shows that the problems are able to overcome with proper policy changes. Secondly, power poses the next hindrance for the Industrial Sector. The issues related to power should be resolved as early as possible in the near future. Lack of power is a big hurdle to the running of industries. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The whole package is free and the students can work on their AA from whatever location they want to when they log into their one drive. Pros And Cons Of Biotechnology Martha Zenaidi Ms. Serwin English 103 16 August 2017 Ten Reasons Why Biotechnology Will Not Ensure Food Security, Protect the Environment and Reduce Poverty in the Developing World An article written by Miguel A. Altieri and Peter Rosset (1999) addresses certain potential issues and misconceptions about biotechnology. For instance, this article suggests that biotechnology will not ensure food security, protect the environment, and will not reduce poverty in the developing world. The article points out that there is no relationship between a hungry country and its population, and that the world produces more food than ever before. The real cause of hunger is not the lack of food but the lack of resources to buy it and the lack of land for people to grow their own food. New improvements in biotechnology will not reduce hunger as the vast majority of improvements in biotechnology have been created not because companies want to improve the agriculture or reduce hunger, but because they want to make a profit. An example provided says that new biotechnical innovations increase expenses per acre for seeds plus chemicals, which results in a lower return to the growers growers are spending more than what they making. Discount packages are offered by biotechnology companies, but only when purchasing technology packages. Additionally, recent studies have shown that genetic engineered seeds do not increase the yield of the crops. In 1998 a study conducted by the USDA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
