Mayella Ewell Power Quotes
Power may be obtained in many ways. It can be obtained in race, gender, or class. In this case,
Mayella Ewell, a white female, lives in a dump. She only has power in which is regarding to her race.
To Kill A Mockingbird, a book made by Harper Lee has a character named Mayella Ewell. Mayella is
a white female who has been savagely beaten with a left hand. She is the daughter of Bob Ewell.
Mayella Ewell has power in her race. Regarding her race, she doesn t have power due to her social
class or her gender. Mayella Ewell doesn t have power in her social class since she is poor. The author
states, Maycomb s Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump... (Lee 17). This quote explains how
Mayella doesn t have power in regards to her class because of her and her family live behind the
towns dump. The text states, He thought he d be a hero, but all he got for his pain was... okay we ll
convict this Negro, but get back to your dump (Lee 18). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she is white, Tom Robinson is black. And this means that people have never seen a judge rule
for a colored person before. The excerpt states, Now don t you be so confident, Mr. Jem, I ain t seen
any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man... (Lee 19). Since Mayella is white she has
more power than Tom because he is black. The meaning behind the quote is that whites have more
power than colored people do. The author says, The witness realized his mistake and shifted
uncomfortably in his chair. But the damage was done. Below us nobody liked Tom Robinson s answer.
Mr. Gilmer paused a long time to let it sink in (Document E). Since Tom Robinson is a colored male,
he showed that he had felt sorry for a white person. He should never feel bad for a white person
because he is the opposite race and it s not good for him to be showing sympathy of his opposite race.
Mayella has power for being white. Being white back then just means that you re more superior than
colored people

Analyse the Limitations on the Powers of the Prime Minister.
Analyse the limitations on the powers of the prime minister. There are limitations to the prime
ministers powers, despite the prime minister role being the highest in UK politics. The prime minister
still maintains many powers but one main limitation that there is, is the prime ministers party.
Ministerial appointments require some recognition of the need for political balance and administrative
competence. There is pressure from colleagues or the media to appoint certain people all Prime
Ministers at least listen to advice from senior colleagues before making appointments. The Prime
Ministers ability to control the flow of business is restricted. Apart from drawing up the party
manifesto, most Prime Ministers do not initiate policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Countryside Alliance has already organised one very large demonstration in London and has
organised another for September 2002. No Prime Minister would admit that their policies are shaped
by un elected pressure groups but it is clear that in this case, the impact of the Countryside Alliance
has been marked. Though the Prime Minister has a great deal of political power, this power is also
balanced by the fact that there are limitations to that power. While a Prime Minister has the backing of
his party, his position is secure; if he loses that support, then his position becomes very vulnerable.

Postmodern Pluralism
Postmodern Pluralism and its Effect on Truth and Reconciliation Art: Going Home Star
In 2008, the government created a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, hereafter referred to as
TRC, committed to the tasks of discovering the truth about Canada s Indian Residential Schools,
revealing this truth to all Canadians, and attempting to reconcile the relationship between Indigenous
and non Indigenous Canadians. One of the ways the TRC suggested to facilitate this reconciliation
process is through the creative arts. Indeed, in the last few years, Canada has seen a host of artistic
projects launched which seek to heal and reconcile this relationship, these projects will hereafter be
referred to as reconciliation art . One of the most prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In addition to representing different cultural traditions, postmodernism tends to combine and present
both classical and vernacular traditions, within a culture (classical in the colloquial sense, not just
music belonging to the classical era). In doing so, it sets itself up as anti elitist, as it does not
distinguish between high and low culture in the same way modern music did. Postmodernism is, at its
core, a rejection of modernist traits; therefore since modernism was only for an elite few,
postmodernism aims to reach out and appeal to a larger audience. Going Home Star explores many
different genres of music throughout the piece. Take, for example, the opening sequence. In the first
twenty minutes, we hear influences from big band music, dubstep, hip hop, Swan Lake and anything
in between. Swan Lake is an example of classical music while big band, dubstep, and hip hop are all
forms of vernacular music. This notion of anti elitism was very important to Hatzis when composing
Going Home Star, because he wanted any audience member to be able to connect with the music, even
if they aren t trained in classical music. His main consideration was to not alienate our native
population. Reconciliation art must fight against elitism in order to not alienate any audience
members. Anti elitism, through pluralism of genre, is another element of

The Importance Of Nation-State Policy
Along with the twenty first century tagged an interconnected and globalized world, consociated by
instantaneous worldwide communication and the free dissemination of information. With this new era
of technology, economic policies of nation states have become so interdependent that most nation state
economies would be crippled without their respective international trading partners. As such, one may
wonder if an introspective national policy is appropriate, as argued for by the source. For example,
one may contend that international cooperation inevitably results in unequitable compromise, with the
more powerful nation states forcing developing countries into partisan trade deals. This argument,
however, does not take into account the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, by stating that individuals, in general, do not appreciate others telling [them] how to deal
with ... the seal hunt , the speaker alludes to the fact that each nation state understands its own
eccentricities best, and that others cannot empathize because they simply do not have such resources,
such as seals. A nation state that chooses to remain isolated from the world suffers technologically. A
prominent example of the detrimental effects of isolationism and the beneficial effects of international
trade can be observed through the period and abolition of Sakoku, better known as the isolationist
foreign policy of Japan. During isolation, the Japanese were only scarcely aware of the technological
advances in Western technology. As such, when U.S. Commodore Matthew Perry s black ships
arrived, the Japanese were shocked at just how advanced the technology was, especially in
shipbuilding and weaponry. Rather than closing off its borders and potentially suffering the same fate
as China, the Meiji government decided to rapidly Westernize the nation, in terms of technology and
in things like clothing and eating habits, in an attempt to convince the Western powers that the
Japanese were their equals. By the time the Meiji rule concluded, Japan had a highly educated
population and an established and rapidly growing

The Leadership Challenge By Kouzes Posner
Introduction The ability to become a leader is easy, but the knowledge to lead wisely is the challenge.
This paper will highlight Kouzes s Posner s 5 practices of an extraordinary leader, the concepts of
leadership, integrate leadership concepts module 9 and other modules, the authors analysis of his
leadership abilities, the author s leadership philosophy, and the author s best thing learned while in

Five Practices of Extraordinary Leaders The book, The Leadership Challenge written by Kouzes
Posner narrates the five leadership principles that are practiced by all leaders, no matter their title.
Every leader, no matter how effective their leadership abilities practice these traits to some degree. In
addition, every leader will have one or more trait be dominate, which inversely would create a less
practice trait. The five traits are model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable
other to act, and encourage the heart. The Leadership Practice Inventory (LPI) is a tool used to analyze
and inventory individual s strengths, but is not a tool to portray the lowest value as a weakness rather
than trait not commonly utilized. Out of the five traits, enable others to act is my strongest most
predominate trait according the LPI. As a leader being a cheerleader to help aid the progress of my
peers is a feature that I take pride in. These cheerleading attributes stem from my genuine concern for

Essay On Neuropathic Pain
Introduction
It is estimated that some 28 million people in the UK suffer from some form of chronic pain ranging
from lower back pain to osteoarthritis and as such this accounts for 45 million days of work lost each
year, the cost of chronic back pain to the NHS alone is £5 billion a year. This poses both massive
social and economic concerns and creates the question: why hasn t anything been done to counteract
this?
However, when one looks further into the matter, the desire to answer such a question is certainly
present. As a 9 5 society we have a certain inclination to fix any problem that may impede this work
ethic and yet despite the large sums of money that the NHS spends each year, two treatment options

Visceral pain is pain caused by visceral nociceptors which are present in deeper structures such as
organs and internal cavities. Nociceptors in these areas are more scarce and highly sensitive to
distension, ischemia and inflammation but insensitive to other stimuli such as cuts or burns. Thus, the
pain produced in these areas is usually that of aching or cramping and will last for a greater period
than that of somatic pain.
Neuropathic Pain
Neuropathic pain is a type of pain caused by a problem with one or more of the nerves themselves.
This causes them to falsely send electrical signals and stimulate pain that may not be there. Symptoms
of which can be excruciating pain, pins and needles and numbness, which can cause the patient to
become extremely sensitive to even slight pressures in the affected area.
This may be caused by nerve pressure or damage, after surgery or trauma, viral infections, cancer,
vascular malformations, alcoholism, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and metabolic
conditions such as diabetes. Sometimes, there is no identifiable cause for the pain experienced and this
can be very distressing for the patient in question.

Observation Paper On Addiction
Being on the outside of addiction We ve all heard of addicts but what really qualifies an individual as
an addict? Addiction is defined as the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that
is psychologically or physically habit forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes
severe trauma. (Dictionary.com, 2002) Last Monday, I had the opportunity to observe an open
Alcoholics Anonymous session at Calvary Chapel in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Upon arrival, there were
two people already there. One lady appeared to be the facilitator as she was seated at a table with sign
in sheets and class material. I quickly introduced myself and explained that I was there to observe as a
class assignment. She warmly welcomed me, handed me some reading material and offered me to sit
where I pleased. The room was located in the multipurpose room of the church. There were no
windows, just an assortment of chairs positioned in a circle for easy discussion. While waiting for the
others to trickle in, I was educated that the weekly sessions were formed for addicts to discuss their
journey of addiction, and to provide and receive support for their decision to remain sober. The
meeting opened with group facilitator making everyone aware that I was a student observer that would
be observing for the night. I was asked to introduce myself and I also agreed to keep their stories and
names anonymous when writing this paper. It somewhat

Genetically And Genetically Modified Organism
GMO or genetically modified organism. Is an organism which has had its genetic makeup altered by
removing part of its genetic makeup and inserting a modified gene from another organism or the
mutation or deletion of the biome. The biological complexity of life is narrowed down to a single gene
and shoot at with foreign substances that change a genetic trait of an animal or plant. The history of
altering genetics goes back to a family who had a monopoly on petroleum in the 19th century and
became the richest American ever. In 1913 the Rockefellers invested billions of dollars with the hope
that it would improve their image of doing charity and created a tax free foundation the Rockefeller

My Favorite Season
Fall, one of my favorite times of the year. Filled with changing colors, special holidays, pumpkins, and
the best thing in the world, apple cider doughnuts. Every year me and my family spend one day to
rake all the leaves together. We usually only do it that once and we almost never finish. But we enjoy
ourselves all the same.
This occurs on the same day every year, the day we go to the pumpkin farm. That day always started
early. We would wake up, quickly get ready, then drive to Burnt Toast for breakfast. Just sitting there
talking, and eating for awhile. After that we d get back up and drive to Gobert s to begin the fun.
Only staying a little past lunch we would laugh, and play, and eat, and pick out our pumpkin. Then
right before leaving we would stand in line for half an hour. Just to get a dozen fresh apple cider
doughnuts. Even though they had the same doughnuts inside the main store with a shorter wait. On the
way home we divided all the doughnuts up between us. I always ate mine the quickest, dad was
usually second, and my mom and Noah, my brother, both only ever ate one of theirs and saved the rest
for later. Which Noah always ended up giving me one of his extras anyway. Once home it was time to
work , so we banded together to rake the leaves that are always overflowing in our yard. Don t get me
wrong we would work for a little bit, but then we d just end up making the biggest pile of leaves we
could, so Noah could jump in. Which caused my mom to demand family

Affirmative Action Analysis
Affirmative Action: Overview A reflection on the society depicts the fact that it is composed of
individuals with varying differences aligned with gender, race, socio economic status, and education
levels. While it is true that all people should be equal irrespective of these factors, there is a need to
note that there exist a persistent discrimination of various people. Affirmative action has often been
poised as the most comprehensive means through which equality can be attained. While much has
been hypothesized regarding affirmative action, it is of the essence to note that it mainly connotes to
actions and policies that are intended to ensure equality for all people regardless of the differences
they exhibit (Bridges 73). Affirmative action is established with the sole intent of assuring equal
opportunities for all. From this analysis, it can be deduced that the scope of affirmative action is to
assure equality between minority and majority groups. There are various strategies that are often
utilized to enhance the affirmative action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on a personal thought, affirmative action would be more beneficial if it based on class and not

analysis of racial minority groups points to the fact that they have lower economic statuses. Therefore,
class based affirmative action caters for low income groups who mainly comprise of the racial
minority groups. Overall, class based affirmative action is recommendable because it caters for both

Tenochtitlan Influence On The Aztecs

Period 4 In Northern Mexico, a group of people known as the Aztecs arrived and became the
dominant tribe in the region. Since the 13th century the Aztecs developed their capital city of

However in the 16th century invaders from Spain led by conquistador, Hernan Cortez, put an end to
the Aztecs after taking Tenochtitlan ( Beyond Human Sacrifice , 2002; Montezuma, II , 1998). Though
the Aztec s civilization crumbled, much of their art remains to tell stories of their religion and rituals

Synthetic Leases
Abstract
By now most of us have heard and read numerous articles about synthetic leases. We also know
synthetic lease transactions are relatively commonplace for financing corporate build to suits and
acquisitions, and that they are widely accepted by corporate real estate executives, financial
institutions, and accounting firms. But is the synthetic lease a panacea for the corporate executive
faced with a leasing decision? Are they the perfect solution for keeping real estate assets oil the

Off balance sheet financing, for instance, operating and synthetic leases, not only overstates corporate
earnings and perjures their financial positions, it also allows them to preserve the ratios needed to
assure debt contracts. This decreases the authority of such contracts, because the companies are not in
reality keeping their debt ratios low; they re lying about the amount of debt they actually have
(Edman, 2011). Ethical professionals, who willfully present transparent financial statements, are the
only true way to prevent misconstrued financial statements. Likewise users of financial data will
always have their work cut out for them. Investors must be diligent to discover a company s true
financial state. FASB will never rid the world of every accounting inconsistency (Edman, 2011).
Synthetic leases can serve two important purposes: First, for financial accounting purposes, they
enable lessees/sponsors to treat leases as operating leases, whereby payments are recorded as rent
expense and the underlying assets and the associated liabilities are kept off the lessee s balance sheet.
This treatment of the lease enables the company to show a stronger balance sheet than if the lease was
treated as a capital lease (Soroosh and Ciesielski, 2009). Second, for federal income tax purposes,
these contracts are structured so that the lessee/sponsor may treat the

Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners
Bria LeeAnn Coleman
ENG 299
Dr. Mark Facknitz
October 12, 2015
Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience revelations in their every
day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam Webster defines an epiphany as an
illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. While word epiphany has a religious connotation,
these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of
reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand their
circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back to their
lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the reason they
lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw
as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but
often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their situations, because of
this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level, showing the reader that the story s
character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is
the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity
to the Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this

lead it can create serious health problems; such as nervous system damage, learning disabilities, and
stunting of kids growth (8). Water contaminated with metals can also eat through pipes and tear up
plumbing (6). Sodium carbonate (soda ash) is an easy treatment for this problem. Its chemical formula
is CNa2O3 (9). Adding sodium carbonate to acidic water raises the pH levels (6). This treatment of
water contamination does not cause hardness problems in the water unlike some other methods used
(6). Once again the element sodium shows its power by combining with another compound to help
purify a contaminated everyday object. Another use of sodium is for dental care. The compound
mainly used is sodium fluoride (FNa) (10). It helps reduce cavities by making teeth more resistant to
tooth decay and bacteria (11). The fluoride attaches to the enamel of the tooth which in turn helps
prevent the deterioration of the enamel

Don Quixote Research Paper
To me the story of Don Quixote is one of a valiant fool. Quixote is a dreamer who wants to do good
and be a hero like the characters in his books, but he is not right in the head and ends up damaging
things more than fixing them. He wants to be a heroic knight and believes he is defending the
peasantry, yet he is mocked and tricked by his neighbors and superiors alike. He is described by the
other characters as mad and a potential danger to himself and others. Don Quixote s madness is central
to the novel, but is that madness really a bad thing? Is Quixote s return to sanity at the ends of the
story a positive ending? I would like to argue that Don Quixote s end game sanity is actually a tragedy.
From the beginning, Don Quixote intended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believing that his books were responsible for his madness, the towns folk snuck into his home and
burnt all his knight books hoping it would convince him to stop. Unfortunately, with humiliation after
humiliation and being defeated by the Knight of the White Moon (Part 2, Chapter 65, Page 2660) he
came to his senses and hung his lance up, living his remaining days in quite embarrassment.
This to me is tragic as Don Quixote was an unsung hero. Quixote was crazy when pretending to be a
knight and yes, he did cause trouble every now and then, but he also brought joy to people s hearts.
Despite his madness, Quixote wanted to defeat evil trolls, fight monsters, defend women and children
and to his understanding, he was doing just that. He dragged Sancho into his adventures and at first
though he was skeptical, it did not take long until they were inseparable. Sancho knew that though
Don Quixote was mad, he had a heart of gold and truly was trying to make the world a better

Jerusalem And The West Bank
Research In Jerusalem and the West Bank, there are many holy sites that are considered to be sacred to
the Christian faith, Jewish faith as well as the Islamic faith. Those sites include: The Dome of the
Rock, Al Aqsa Mosque, The Western (Wailing) Wall, and many others. The land of Jerusalem and the
West Bank is also thought to be sacred in their own rights due to the history of who has occupied these
areas in the past. Each one of these sites is seen as very sacred in the international world. Recent acts
of violence have plagued this area. These acts have led to deaths on all sides. There needs to be a
protection of access to these sites for all people that see it as sacred: The Muslims, The Christians, and
also The Jewish population. This site is in a lot of danger because of its location, of the ambiguity
about who is in control of which part. There s a lot of violence going on in the West Bank. There are
thousands of Palestinians in the streets now that there have seen so many acts of violence. The recent
reporting s feature single independent attacks from young Palestinian men. In the past, there have been
more collective acts of violence, but now a day there are single independent person s. Due to these
actions of violence, the citizens have continued to riot. This has probed police interaction with the
protesting rioters and again more violence. A Political solution that many experts believe is needed in
order to correctly combat this issue there have been many

Ap Biology Lab
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this lab was to practice proper handling of the light microscope, learn the names and
functions of the light microscope parts, acquire skill in using the light microscope by carefully
following all directions, prepare a wet mount, and locate objects under low and high power
magnification. In addition, we will learn to position objects when viewed with a microscope, adjust
the diaphragm correctly to achieve proper light under low and high power, learn to locate objects at
various places in the depth of field and use stains (iodine) as an aid.
METHODS:
The materials needed for this lab were: a light microscope, lamp (if needed or available), microscope

First, we discovered that we should start with low power objective to observe. To focus the image, use
the coarse adjustment knob to adjust it. When looking at high power objectives, the fine adjustment
knob can be used. Also we discovered that when you move the slide towards you, it appears to move
away. When observing the letter e , we discovered that the images observed under the light are
inverted and reversed. Although we could not easily tell with the feather, threads, and potato, it
became noticeable with the letter e . The e was placed like e , however when looked into the eyepiece,
the e was upside down. This shows that the microscopes works in an inverted way. We also discovered
that to adjust the amount of light entering the microscope, we could use the iris lever to adjust the
diaphragm. For example, the white thread required little light to see the cotton fibers, compared to the
feather or letter e . Therefore, we learned that by altering the diaphragm, we can fix many of the
problems associated with the observations. Lastly, we discovered that only one depth can be seen
clearly at a time under high power. When working with the crossed strands of thread, we had to turn
the fine wheel adjustment back and forth while looking through the microscope to focus one strand.
All in all, the lab supported the purpose. We were able to identify, function the parts of a light
microscope, and prepare a wet mount(of a feather, letter e , black and white thread, and a potato).
Furthermore, we located objects using high and low power objectives, adjusted the diaphragm to
attain correct lighting, and used stains for an easier and more detailed

Nelson Mandela: From Vision to Transformation A true inspiration for all of humanity, Nelson
Mandela broke down barriers of social injustice, committing his life to the vision of a free and

compassion and humility. Through his leadership and years of self sacrifice, Nelson Mandela became

Vision Vision, whether linked to an institution, business, or individual, provides purpose and is critical
to success. As argued by McFarland, Senn, and Childress (1994), Vision is to an organization what
purpose is to an individual. Any individual who has strong life purpose is naturally motivated and
moved to action. A vision for an organization has the same power, serving as a higher purpose (p.94).
Establishing a clear vision brings a sense of unity and inspiration, whereby members of the team gain
a sense of self motivation to follow in the same direction (McFarland, et.al.). Ownership of a vision
does not rest solely on the leader; in contrast, uniting members of an organization and enabling them
to share in the purpose are critical. Visionary leaders have the compassion and commitment to a cause
that inspire those around them to believe in what they are doing. Visionary Leadership: Personal to
Organizational Commitment Vision is a critical component to success, as it unites members of an
organization or group with a common purpose. The creation of a vision, however, is not a simple
process; as Yoeli and Berkovich (2010) noted, The process of formulating a vision is long and
complex and usually begins with the leader s unique personal ethos (p.452). According to Katz (1999),
when formulating a personal ethos, a leader is trying to determine the motivating factor to influence

My Paper On Lee Harvey Oswald
Based on my research, I would like to dedicate my paper to Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was born on
October 18, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His dad died of a heart attack and later sent to an
orphanage to live with his two older brothers. He was a United States Marine, who later in his life
killed John F. Kennedy. He was murdered by Jack Ruby while he was in police custody and being
taken to County Jail. Lee Harvey Oswald had also tried to kill right wing ex general Edwin A. Walker
but he missed. He then moved to New Orleans for a couple of months, then moved back to the states.
Before the killing had happened, he got a job at the Texas school as a Book Depository in Dallas.
Where he attended the shooting of President Kennedy. He was mostly known because of the killing of
John F. Kennedy. No one could find out why Lee H. Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy. Based on
some interview his families and friends went through, they all said that Lee praised President John F.
Kennedy. Michael Paine, one of Lee s friends, who took Lee to a meeting of the American Civil
Liberties Union, says Oswald thought President Kennedy was doing quite a good job in civil rights,
which was high praise coming from Lee. A Warren Commissioners, Senator Richard Russell say he
was a general misanthropic fellow ... he had a desire to get his name in history and all. As I surf

Multicultural Theories In Social Work
Studying of human behavior has never been easier, and as the population increases, their actions
become complicated. As a result, social worker as a professional has different theories that guide them
in the process of assessing, evaluating and intervening at various levels in the society (Jayapalan,
2014). In fact, most of these theories usually focus on the study of aspects that make humans different,
and an example of the focus include human growth and their development, psychological aspect,
social functioning as well as service delivery. However, some theories just highlight social and
economic equality. Also, almost all of the theories in social work practice are usually come out of
social and historical context, and there should, therefore, be critiqued because of their multicultural
applicability. With the aim of understanding persons and their environment, as well as the processes of
assessment, intervention, and evaluation, system theory perspective used. System theory includes
ecological systems, and it typically focuses on how different individuals interact with others in their
environment (Turner, 2014). In fact, social workers use this theory in understanding different
individuals while in their constant transaction within their environment. For example, system theory
suggests that different systems and subsystems in the societies are interrelated parts. Also, the other
common concept of system theory states that each subsystem affects several other areas of

The Characteristics Of The African Elephant And Other Animals
Though there are many animals, picking a favorite is not a difficult task. Of the approximate 7.77
million species of animals on Earth, the African Elephant is my favorite. These majestic creatures are
different from any other animal I ve ever known. Not many other animals possess the same traits or
qualities as they do. The endangered mammal intrigues me because of their unique appearance, their
ability to show emotions that other animals cannot, and their high intelligence level. These gentle
giants are a fascinating component of the animal kingdom. To some, the African Elephant may seem a
little odd, but they have their place in the world. The body of an African Elephant, though
unconventional in comparison to other animals, is perfect for their way of life. Their large ears give
them the ability to hear sounds up to 6.2 miles away, in ideal conditions, while also serving as a
communication device. Their unusual oval shaped feet act as a shock absorber due to the thick fatty
tissue it is made up of. This allows the elephants to walk silently because sounds are muffled under
their feet. Lastly, the trunk on an elephant is made up of eight major muscles on either side which
gives the elephant the ability to lift up to 700,000 pounds. They can also be used as a built in snorkel,
allowing the mammal travel across larger bodies of water. Not only do the trunks of elephants help
themselves, can be used to help other elephants. Elephants are one of the few animals who are

Brucella Abortus Research Paper
Brucella abortus is zoonotic, which can cause brucellosis in both cattle and human. The geographical
distribution of both human and bovine brucellosis is wide and is constantly changing; this not only
results in great economic loss in animal production, but also compromises human health. Although
bovine brucellosis can be prevented by vaccine and elimination of the infected cattle, there is no
licensed vaccine for human at the moment. B. abortus can be transmitted vertically and horizontally.
Transplacental transmission is an obvious route causing abortion, the classic symptom of brucellosis.
Oral transmission is the most significant route of transmission. B. abortus can reside in mammary and
uterine glands. The bacteria can be introduced to the calves during suckling from the infected cow.
Alternatively, B. abortus can be transferred within the herd by grazing in pasture or drinking water
that has been contaminated by vaginal discharge from the infected cow. Despite the fact that B.
abortus can be found in semen and other excretions, the venereal route is uncommon. Abortion, a
common clinical sign, usually takes place within the second half of gestation alongside with the
retention of placenta and metritis. These bacteria multiply in the placental cotyledons causing

Gun Control Now And The Federal Level
Gun Control Now
Before we can set a plan for the future, or paint a picture of the past that led us to where we are now,
we must first take a snapshot of gun control legislation as it exists now. As legislation varies greatly
between states, we ll start by looking at gun control at the federal level.
As a law abiding private citizen, with no special exceptions, you must be 18 years of age to purchase a
firearm from a licensed dealer, and 21 to purchase a handgun. However, to possess firearms and
handguns, as well as purchase from a private seller and make for personal use, these ages are reduced
to 0 and 18 respectively. Additionally, you are unable to own armor piercing ammunition and machine
guns (weapons that fire multiple cartridges per pull of the trigger) manufactured after 1986 (18 U.S.
Code § 922).
Additionally, the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) places additional restrictions on certain
weapons which feature certain characteristics. However, NFA weapons are not explicitly illegal to
possess as a normal citizen, but instead require a lengthy and expensive registration process, which
includes a much more in depth background check, and adds additional regulation to the use of such
weapons.
Many such NFA weapons fall into what people consider a slippery slope of gun ownership. Under the
NFA, private citizens are still allowed to own and use Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns (which
includes such weapons under a total weapon length, not just those with short

The Effect Of Making A Person Visible And Isolated
In Michel Foucault s essay, Panopticism, the effects of making a person visible and isolated are
explained. Before Foucault addresses his theory, Panopticism, he first explains Jeremy Bentham s
architectural structure, the Panopticon. Foucault explains the Panopticon structure is at the periphery,
an annular building; at the center, a tower (184). Essentially, this means that there is a larger tower in
the center, which is completed surrounded by individual cells. These cells have both a window facing
the tower and one facing away; this allows light to shine through the windows making the prisoner
completely visible. Combined with making a prisoner visible, some type of superior must be in the
tower periodically to ensure the feeling of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In conjunction self policing, the panoptic structure and Panopticism are useful for drawing up
differences between people (190). Due to the fact that each of the prisoners are enclosed in their own
isolated cell, their different tempers, aptitudes, and several other personality traits can be analyzed
without the fear of imitation from viewing other inmates behaving differently. I will be utilizing
Foucault s theory of Panopticism to analyze my experiences in a nursing home that has the same
structural design as panoptic structure. The nursing home that I am reflecting my experience from
resembles a panoptic structure because there is a central nurse s station surrounded by individual
resident rooms and a common gathering space. The nurse s station and the necessary staff rooms are at
the center of the unit, similar to the central tower. This is the command center for information about
the resident s behavior and any change in their medical or temperamental status. Ultimately, this is
where the power source is situated. Conversely, this makes the resident s rooms similar to cells and the
residents inside, comparable to prisoners. In each resident room there is almost everything the resident
would need such as a bathroom, clothes, and various personal items. Like a prisoner in the panoptic
structure mentioned earlier, the

one of the most controversial figure. His perspective on how he dealt with manner is still debated
today. A key aspect discussed today is why Riel is a hero to his people; the Métis. Louis Riel had once

Moreover, the government s insufficiency caused Riel to act accordingly. Earlier, it was mentioned
that the Canadian government was not authorized to take legal action until December of 1869. Though
this was clearly recognized by the government, they sent surveyors in June of 1869 for settlers to live
there. The government broke their own laws, hence it proves that Riel, due to the government s flawed
intentions, had to enforce his rule, by stepping on the chains. Unit Two: The Development of Western
Canada, on page 36 highlights that in 1882, surveyors came to the Métis peoples North West
Settlements to examine the land once more. The Métis acted quickly and sent 15 petitions to the
Canadian government for the rights of their land, none of which were answered. Once again, the
government was incapable. The government could have prevented all the troubles, but due to their
insufficiency and flawed system, they let the surveyors come onto the land. In addition to this, the
government had signed many treaties with the Métis. But, the government, yet again, didn t keep their
word and didn t follow the laws of giving them what the treaties had promised. To conclude, Riel was
compelled to take arms. The lack of control, caused the government to spend millions and ended in
destruction. Flashback Canada on page 196 stated, Some new evidence suggests that the Chief Justice

Relationship Between Buyer And Buyer
There are two main types of buyer and seller relationships. The buyer is the person or organisation that
purchases products from suppliers. A buyer could be a manufacturer purchasing raw materials or a
customer buying a finished product from a retailer. The relationship between the buyer and seller can
be either short term (once off or low commitment purchases) or long term, involving regular purchases
based on established agreements. The success of a good buyer seller relationship is that they
understand each other and have a good fit . But who are the partners in the supply chain relationship??

That value can be based on services, quality, on time deliveries, returns management, or some
combination of these. It s what makes buyers increase their percentage of purchases from individual
suppliers for the long run. This provides a double edged benefit for suppliers: when a buyer increases
its purchase of a needed material or product or goods, this not only enhances the chosen supplier s
bottom line, but also negatively impacts the competition. Further, this increased collaboration between
supply chain buyer and seller leads to another valuable outcome: increased efficiencies. The Longer
the Collaboration, the Lower the Costs One of the greatest benefits from long term supply chain
collaboration (and one that consistently delights operationally oriented managers) are the cost savings
that result from routine procedures over the life of the relationship. When buyers and suppliers begin a
relationship, there interactions often are fraught with inefficiencies and expensive company legacy s ,
adding to the cost of doing business in year one. In year two, however, procedures typically become
more streamlined, issues in IT are worked through, and interpersonal relationships between

Foucault Discipline And Punishment
When reading this piece, I noticed that book is all about how important and integrated prison is a main
part of our society around the world. It shows how it is impossible to get rid of them, mostly because
of the fact that there is no alternative to prisons really out there, and just like the title suggests prisons
are the main form of Discipline and Punishment . Foucault s main argument is that modern society,
mostly referencing France, are based on the idea of individual liberty. As prison deprives people of
their liberty choices and leaving them in confinement leads to it being the most ethical punishment.
Most importantly, the systems of discipline, and observation that go around inside a prison extend
outside its walls. Although Foucault ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that There are two images, then, of discipline. At one extreme, the discipline blockade, the
enclosed institution, established on the edges of society, turned in wards towards negative functions:
arresting evil, breaking communications, suspending time. At the other extreme, with panopticons, is
the discipline mechanism: a functional mechanism that must improve the exercise of power by making
it lighter, more rapid, more effective, a design of subtle coercion for a society to come. The movement
from one project to the other, from a schema of exceptional discipline to one of a generalized
surveillance, rests on a historical transformation: the gradual extension of the mechanisms of
discipline throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, their spread throughout the whole
social body, the formation of what might be called in general the disciplinary society. (209) Which
indeed is a very large mouth full. Although this is a lot for one quote I think it was essential to quote in

  • 2. Mayella Ewell Power Quotes Power may be obtained in many ways. It can be obtained in race, gender, or class. In this case, Mayella Ewell, a white female, lives in a dump. She only has power in which is regarding to her race. To Kill A Mockingbird, a book made by Harper Lee has a character named Mayella Ewell. Mayella is a white female who has been savagely beaten with a left hand. She is the daughter of Bob Ewell. Mayella Ewell has power in her race. Regarding her race, she doesn t have power due to her social class or her gender. Mayella Ewell doesn t have power in her social class since she is poor. The author states, Maycomb s Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump... (Lee 17). This quote explains how Mayella doesn t have power in regards to her class because of her and her family live behind the towns dump. The text states, He thought he d be a hero, but all he got for his pain was... okay we ll convict this Negro, but get back to your dump (Lee 18). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she is white, Tom Robinson is black. And this means that people have never seen a judge rule for a colored person before. The excerpt states, Now don t you be so confident, Mr. Jem, I ain t seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man... (Lee 19). Since Mayella is white she has more power than Tom because he is black. The meaning behind the quote is that whites have more power than colored people do. The author says, The witness realized his mistake and shifted uncomfortably in his chair. But the damage was done. Below us nobody liked Tom Robinson s answer. Mr. Gilmer paused a long time to let it sink in (Document E). Since Tom Robinson is a colored male, he showed that he had felt sorry for a white person. He should never feel bad for a white person because he is the opposite race and it s not good for him to be showing sympathy of his opposite race. Mayella has power for being white. Being white back then just means that you re more superior than colored people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyse the Limitations on the Powers of the Prime Minister. Analyse the limitations on the powers of the prime minister. There are limitations to the prime ministers powers, despite the prime minister role being the highest in UK politics. The prime minister still maintains many powers but one main limitation that there is, is the prime ministers party. Ministerial appointments require some recognition of the need for political balance and administrative competence. There is pressure from colleagues or the media to appoint certain people all Prime Ministers at least listen to advice from senior colleagues before making appointments. The Prime Ministers ability to control the flow of business is restricted. Apart from drawing up the party manifesto, most Prime Ministers do not initiate policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Countryside Alliance has already organised one very large demonstration in London and has organised another for September 2002. No Prime Minister would admit that their policies are shaped by un elected pressure groups but it is clear that in this case, the impact of the Countryside Alliance has been marked. Though the Prime Minister has a great deal of political power, this power is also balanced by the fact that there are limitations to that power. While a Prime Minister has the backing of his party, his position is secure; if he loses that support, then his position becomes very vulnerable. Any Prime Minister would always ensure that he knows what the opinions of the back benchers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Postmodern Pluralism Postmodern Pluralism and its Effect on Truth and Reconciliation Art: Going Home Star In 2008, the government created a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, hereafter referred to as TRC, committed to the tasks of discovering the truth about Canada s Indian Residential Schools, revealing this truth to all Canadians, and attempting to reconcile the relationship between Indigenous and non Indigenous Canadians. One of the ways the TRC suggested to facilitate this reconciliation process is through the creative arts. Indeed, in the last few years, Canada has seen a host of artistic projects launched which seek to heal and reconcile this relationship, these projects will hereafter be referred to as reconciliation art . One of the most prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to representing different cultural traditions, postmodernism tends to combine and present both classical and vernacular traditions, within a culture (classical in the colloquial sense, not just music belonging to the classical era). In doing so, it sets itself up as anti elitist, as it does not distinguish between high and low culture in the same way modern music did. Postmodernism is, at its core, a rejection of modernist traits; therefore since modernism was only for an elite few, postmodernism aims to reach out and appeal to a larger audience. Going Home Star explores many different genres of music throughout the piece. Take, for example, the opening sequence. In the first twenty minutes, we hear influences from big band music, dubstep, hip hop, Swan Lake and anything in between. Swan Lake is an example of classical music while big band, dubstep, and hip hop are all forms of vernacular music. This notion of anti elitism was very important to Hatzis when composing Going Home Star, because he wanted any audience member to be able to connect with the music, even if they aren t trained in classical music. His main consideration was to not alienate our native population. Reconciliation art must fight against elitism in order to not alienate any audience members. The Importance Of Nation-State Policy Along with the twenty first century tagged an interconnected and globalized world, consociated by instantaneous worldwide communication and the free dissemination of information. With this new era of technology, economic policies of nation states have become so interdependent that most nation state economies would be crippled without their respective international trading partners. As such, one may wonder if an introspective national policy is appropriate, as argued for by the source. For example, one may contend that international cooperation inevitably results in unequitable compromise, with the more powerful nation states forcing developing countries into partisan trade deals. A nation state that chooses to remain isolated from the world suffers technologically. A prominent example of the detrimental effects of isolationism and the beneficial effects of international trade can be observed through the period and abolition of Sakoku, better known as the isolationist foreign policy of Japan. During isolation, the Japanese were only scarcely aware of the technological advances in Western technology. As such, when U.S. Commodore Matthew Perry s black ships arrived, the Japanese were shocked at just how advanced the technology was, especially in shipbuilding and weaponry. Rather than closing off its borders and potentially suffering the same fate as China, the Meiji government decided to rapidly Westernize the nation, in terms of technology and in things like clothing and eating habits, in an attempt to convince the Western powers that the Japanese were their equals. • 8. Observation Paper On Addiction Being on the outside of addiction We ve all heard of addicts but what really qualifies an individual as an addict? Addiction is defined as the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. (Dictionary.com, 2002) Last Monday, I had the opportunity to observe an open Alcoholics Anonymous session at Calvary Chapel in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Upon arrival, there were two people already there. One lady appeared to be the facilitator as she was seated at a table with sign in sheets and class material. I quickly introduced myself and explained that I was there to observe as a class assignment. She warmly welcomed me, handed me some reading material and offered me to sit where I pleased. The room was located in the multipurpose room of the church. There were no windows, just an assortment of chairs positioned in a circle for easy discussion. While waiting for the others to trickle in, I was educated that the weekly sessions were formed for addicts to discuss their journey of addiction, and to provide and receive support for their decision to remain sober. The meeting opened with group facilitator making everyone aware that I was a student observer that would be observing for the night. Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners Bria LeeAnn Coleman ENG 299 Dr. Mark Facknitz October 12, 2015 Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience revelations in their every day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam Webster defines an epiphany as an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. While word epiphany has a religious connotation, these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the reason they lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their situations, because of this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level, showing the reader that the story s character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity to the Magi. Establishing a clear vision brings a sense of unity and inspiration, whereby members of the team gain a sense of self motivation to follow in the same direction (McFarland, et.al.). Ownership of a vision does not rest solely on the leader; in contrast, uniting members of an organization and enabling them to share in the purpose are critical. Visionary leaders have the compassion and commitment to a cause that inspire those around them to believe in what they are doing. Visionary Leadership: Personal to Organizational Commitment Vision is a critical component to success, as it unites members of an organization or group with a common purpose. The creation of a vision, however, is not a simple process; as Yoeli and Berkovich (2010) noted, The process of formulating a vision is long and complex and usually begins with the leader s unique personal ethos (p.452). According to Katz (1999), when formulating a personal ethos, a leader is trying to determine the motivating factor to influence others, identify the purpose to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. My Paper On Lee Harvey Oswald Based on my research, I would like to dedicate my paper to Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was born on October 18, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His dad died of a heart attack and later sent to an orphanage to live with his two older brothers. He was a United States Marine, who later in his life killed John F. Kennedy. He was murdered by Jack Ruby while he was in police custody and being taken to County Jail. Lee Harvey Oswald had also tried to kill right wing ex general Edwin A. Walker but he missed. He then moved to New Orleans for a couple of months, then moved back to the states. Before the killing had happened, he got a job at the Texas school as a Book Depository in Dallas. Where he attended the shooting of President Kennedy. He was mostly known because of the killing of John F. Kennedy. No one could find out why Lee H. Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy. Based on some interview his families and friends went through, they all said that Lee praised President John F. Kennedy. • 30. Multicultural Theories In Social Work Studying of human behavior has never been easier, and as the population increases, their actions become complicated. As a result, social worker as a professional has different theories that guide them in the process of assessing, evaluating and intervening at various levels in the society (Jayapalan, 2014). In fact, most of these theories usually focus on the study of aspects that make humans different, and an example of the focus include human growth and their development, psychological aspect, social functioning as well as service delivery. However, some theories just highlight social and economic equality. Also, almost all of the theories in social work practice are usually come out of social and historical context, and there should, therefore, be critiqued because of their multicultural applicability. With the aim of understanding persons and their environment, as well as the processes of assessment, intervention, and evaluation, system theory perspective used. System theory includes ecological systems, and it typically focuses on how different individuals interact with others in their environment (Turner, 2014). In fact, social workers use this theory in understanding different individuals while in their constant transaction within their environment. For example, system theory suggests that different systems and subsystems in the societies are interrelated parts. Also, the other common concept of system theory states that each subsystem affects several other areas of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of the approximate 7.77 million species of animals on Earth, the African Elephant is my favorite. These majestic creatures are different from any other animal I ve ever known. Not many other animals possess the same traits or qualities as they do. The endangered mammal intrigues me because of their unique appearance, their ability to show emotions that other animals cannot, and their high intelligence level. These gentle giants are a fascinating component of the animal kingdom. To some, the African Elephant may seem a little odd, but they have their place in the world. The body of an African Elephant, though unconventional in comparison to other animals, is perfect for their way of life. Their large ears give them the ability to hear sounds up to 6.2 miles away, in ideal conditions, while also serving as a communication device. Their unusual oval shaped feet act as a shock absorber due to the thick fatty tissue it is made up of. This allows the elephants to walk silently because sounds are muffled under their feet. Lastly, the trunk on an elephant is made up of eight major muscles on either side which gives the elephant the ability to lift up to 700,000 pounds. They can also be used as a built in snorkel, allowing the mammal travel across larger bodies of water. Not only do the trunks of elephants help themselves, can be used to help other elephants. The geographical distribution of both human and bovine brucellosis is wide and is constantly changing; this not only results in great economic loss in animal production, but also compromises human health. Although bovine brucellosis can be prevented by vaccine and elimination of the infected cattle, there is no licensed vaccine for human at the moment. B. abortus can be transmitted vertically and horizontally. Transplacental transmission is an obvious route causing abortion, the classic symptom of brucellosis. Oral transmission is the most significant route of transmission. B. abortus can reside in mammary and uterine glands. The bacteria can be introduced to the calves during suckling from the infected cow. Alternatively, B. abortus can be transferred within the herd by grazing in pasture or drinking water that has been contaminated by vaginal discharge from the infected cow. Despite the fact that B. abortus can be found in semen and other excretions, the venereal route is uncommon. • 33. Gun Control Now And The Federal Level Gun Control Now Before we can set a plan for the future, or paint a picture of the past that led us to where we are now, we must first take a snapshot of gun control legislation as it exists now. As legislation varies greatly between states, we ll start by looking at gun control at the federal level. As a law abiding private citizen, with no special exceptions, you must be 18 years of age to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer, and 21 to purchase a handgun. However, to possess firearms and handguns, as well as purchase from a private seller and make for personal use, these ages are reduced to 0 and 18 respectively. Additionally, you are unable to own armor piercing ammunition and machine guns (weapons that fire multiple cartridges per pull of the trigger) manufactured after 1986 (18 U.S. Code § 922). Additionally, the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) places additional restrictions on certain weapons which feature certain characteristics. However, NFA weapons are not explicitly illegal to possess as a normal citizen, but instead require a lengthy and expensive registration process, which includes a much more in depth background check, and adds additional regulation to the use of such weapons. Many such NFA weapons fall into what people consider a slippery slope of gun ownership. Under the NFA, private citizens are still allowed to own and use Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns (which includes such weapons under a total weapon length, not just those with short ... Before Foucault addresses his theory, Panopticism, he first explains Jeremy Bentham s architectural structure, the Panopticon. Foucault explains the Panopticon structure is at the periphery, an annular building; at the center, a tower (184). Essentially, this means that there is a larger tower in the center, which is completed surrounded by individual cells. These cells have both a window facing the tower and one facing away; this allows light to shine through the windows making the prisoner completely visible. In conjunction self policing, the panoptic structure and Panopticism are useful for drawing up differences between people (190). Due to the fact that each of the prisoners are enclosed in their own isolated cell, their different tempers, aptitudes, and several other personality traits can be analyzed without the fear of imitation from viewing other inmates behaving differently. I will be utilizing Foucault s theory of Panopticism to analyze my experiences in a nursing home that has the same structural design as panoptic structure. The nursing home that I am reflecting my experience from resembles a panoptic structure because there is a central nurse s station surrounded by individual resident rooms and a common gathering space. The nurse s station and the necessary staff rooms are at the center of the unit, similar to the central tower. This is the command center for information about the resident s behavior and any change in their medical or temperamental status. Ultimately, this is where the power source is situated. Conversely, this makes the resident s rooms similar to cells and the residents inside, comparable to prisoners. In each resident room there is almost everything the resident would need such as a bathroom, clothes, and various personal items. Like a prisoner in the panoptic structure mentioned earlier, the ... Though this was clearly recognized by the government, they sent surveyors in June of 1869 for settlers to live there. The government broke their own laws, hence it proves that Riel, due to the government s flawed intentions, had to enforce his rule, by stepping on the chains. Unit Two: The Development of Western Canada, on page 36 highlights that in 1882, surveyors came to the Métis peoples North West Settlements to examine the land once more. The Métis acted quickly and sent 15 petitions to the Canadian government for the rights of their land, none of which were answered. Once again, the government was incapable. The government could have prevented all the troubles, but due to their insufficiency and flawed system, they let the surveyors come onto the land. In addition to this, the government had signed many treaties with the Métis. But, the government, yet again, didn t keep their word and didn t follow the laws of giving them what the treaties had promised. To conclude, Riel was compelled to take arms. It shows how it is impossible to get rid of them, mostly because of the fact that there is no alternative to prisons really out there, and just like the title suggests prisons are the main form of Discipline and Punishment . Foucault s main argument is that modern society, mostly referencing France, are based on the idea of individual liberty. As prison deprives people of their liberty choices and leaving them in confinement leads to it being the most ethical punishment. Most importantly, the systems of discipline, and observation that go around inside a prison extend outside its walls. Although Foucault ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At one extreme, the discipline blockade, the enclosed institution, established on the edges of society, turned in wards towards negative functions: arresting evil, breaking communications, suspending time. The movement from one project to the other, from a schema of exceptional discipline to one of a generalized surveillance, rests on a historical transformation: the gradual extension of the mechanisms of discipline throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, their spread throughout the whole social body, the formation of what might be called in general the disciplinary society.
