Rapid Decline Of Crime In The 1990s
Components of the Rapid Decline in Crime of the 1990s The 1960s were more than just Civil Rights
and Woodstock. Contrary to what the people believed, the 1960s was an important decade in regards
to ending the peaceful period of crime decline that the United States had been enjoying since 1930
(Levitt, Dubner 115 146). The United States was about to see the highest crime rates in its history by
the end of the 1980s, heading for the 1990s. Upon entering the 1990s though, what was being
recorded were record levels of crime, but in the opposite direction as predicted (Levitt, Dubner 115
146). Instead of the highest crime rates, the United States actually observed rates similar to that of the
1960s. Although the 1960s were when crime began to steadily ... Show more content on

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) realized that these numbers are substantial, and that this
was not the only sector of crime falling. Robbery fell 40%, burglary fell 33%, and rape and assault
both fell by 20% ( Uniformed Crime Reporting). The 1980s saw some of the highest crime rates in
history, and as a result, many different strategies were being implemented in order to control the
expected increase in the 1990s. In effect, the 1990s saw the largest decrease in crime in US history,
and had the lowest crime levels since 1960

The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism
Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from
drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince.
In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a
man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a
version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man
in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid
(Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were
made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the
story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do
and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need
a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of
this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and
young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example
of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having
to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job,
relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak
woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels.
Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of
equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to
be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs
help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks
fragile and needs a man to save her. This also shows that usually the women are the ones being saved,
so that the men can be the ones doing

Kgb In Animal Farm Essay
The KGB
Wouldn t it be nice to have a secret police force that listened to every word and killed anyone the spot
with no remorse? Well that pretty much sums up the KGB, they were a ruthless secret police service
that worked for whoever was in power for Russia. Under the wrong control they were very
destructive. In Animal Farm the dogs represented the KGB.
The KGB was one of many roots of secret police. The 1st, strongest and most durable, was CHEKA .
CHEKA was originally formed in 1917, during the first days of the Bolshevik government. It played a
major role in the Russian Civil War with multiple investigations and executions. Feliks Dzerzhinsky,
CHEKA s chief during the early years of Soviet power, molded the service into an effective, merciless
tool of the ruling Communist Party (Pringle). CHEKA s power was almost over whelming, so in order
to even some of the power out they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joseph Stalin was one of the biggest villains of his time. Right off the bat the NKVD s surveillance
was increased and they had claimed to have found enough evidence to uncover anti Soviet
conspiracies among long term part members. This can relate to a part in Animal farm, when Napoleon
(representation of Stalin) had the dogs (representation of the KGB/NKVD) chase of Snowball
(representation of the long term power) for they believed he sided with the humans (representation of
anti Soviet powers). The NKVD was later split into 2 branches, the other being called GPU. Unlike
the other branches of the KGB that stayed stationary in Russia, the GPU would travel the world.
While the GPU traveled the NKVD stayed home in Russia and took care of Stalin s business by
executing people or sending them to gulogs . Gulogs were just dungeons or buildings only used by
KGB. (History of the KGB and secret police in

I. Introduction:
A. Attention Getter: In 2012 Starbucks made over $13.29 billion dollars. With that amount of money
you could buy eight billion, eight hundred and sixty million of their cake pops. Though that seems like
enough cake pops to satisfy anyones appitite I highly doubt that most of us have thirteen billion
dollars to spend. B. Credibility: According to newspressnow.com, last updated May 8th 2012 The start

If I wanted a picture I d buy a painting.
The second part is where the fun part actually starts, you re going to add one or two heaping spoonfuls
of regular white frosting to the crumbled up cake you have.
Keep adding frosting until you get the consistency pretty doughy, but still firm enough to handle.
After kneeding the dough thoroughly you re going to want to roll the dough out inch size balls.
A normal box of cake mix should make about 20 cake pops.
After all the balls are rolled out, they should go in the fridge or freezer for about a half an hour to help
them set. After those agonizing thirty minutes are up, you re able to take the cake pops out of the
refrigerator or freezer, and then melt some almond bark.
After dipping the stick in the almond bark, you re going to want to stick it about halfway through the
now official cake pop .
The chocolate on the stick is to help the stick stay sturdy while you actually eat the sweet treat.
When you ve finished putting the sticks into each of the cake balls, you should put them back into the
refrigerator in order to help the chocolate solidify.
Transition:
The last part we re going to focus on is probably the most simple. Decorating the cake pop.
Using the previously melted almond bark, you can simply dip the cake pop in and spread a thin layer
of chocolate all around the pop.
While the chocolate is still wet, feel free to decorate in any way you d like. For today I just used
simple sprinkles but there

Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti-Smoking Adverts
Anti smoking ads can be found all over the internet and TV . I choose an anti smoking ad where an
African American male walks into a general store and has to pull out a tooth to receive his pack of
cigarettes. I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is
effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults
because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos,
ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually
pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the
narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present
because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of
the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in
the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens
at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the
counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and
asked for pack of cigarettes. The scene makes me super uncomfortable at just the thought of someone
pulling out their tooth with a pair of pliers. Not only is he pulling his tooth out but they put in

All About My Mother And Art Spiegelman
Pedro AlmodĂłvar s film, All About my Mother and Art Spiegelman s graphic novel Maus, both
attempt to make sense of the ways in which trauma shapes families. Both texts portray trauma as a
divisive force between parents and children, however the expression of that division is variable. While
Maus portrays trauma as purely divisive, All About my Mother demonstrates that trauma can create as
well as destroy familial relationships. The two texts reconvene on the idea that the passage of trauma
from parents to children serves as a means of recovery from trauma and pain.
In both narratives, distance between parents and children is created because of a traumatic experience
unique to the parent. In All About my Mother, this distance is manifested ... Show more content on

Manuela s withdraw into a vague response and her unwillingness to discuss the trauma and events
which are so significant to her and EstebĂĄn s lives highlights the distance created between parent and
child through this suffering.
Trauma still behaves as an alienating force in Maus. However, the distance between Artie and Vladek
is expressed in the form of Artie s guilt, rather than insensitivity, about Vladek s trauma. While
discussing his struggle to retell Vladek s story with his wife Françoise, Artie states, I can t even make
any sense out of my relationship with my father...How am I supposed to make any sense out of
Auschwitz? ... of the Holocaust?... When I was a kid I used to think about which of my parents I d let
the Nazis take to the ovens if I could only save one of them... I usually saved my mother. Do you think
that s normal? (14). The fact that Artie can t comprehend his relationship to Vladek indicates his lack
of understanding, and therefore distance from his father. Spiegelman s subsequent questioning of how
he is to understand the Holocaust and Auschwitz, and his use of the same sentence structure in voicing
those questions demonstrates the parallels between these two ignorances and underscores the causal
relationship between misunderstanding his father and his ignorance of

Poverty on the Rise
Poverty on the Rise There is a very wide range of income for individuals and families. This is why we
have people that are very wealthy which are referred to as the upper class and there is the middle class
that makes an average income, and the bottom of the income bracket lies the people in poverty.
Poverty is a condition in which a person or family does not have the means to satisfy basic needs for
food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. Your race does not matter, every race has people that are in
poverty. But as it is statistically shown, different races have a different number of people in poverty. In

A lot of the poverty population is made up of income maintenance programs. I would like to talk about
few of the programs that the government offers for people in poverty. Social insurance programs is the
first. There are many different types to the social insurance program. The first two are OASDHI and
Medicare. OASDHI is also known as social security, which replaces wages lost after retirement.
Medicare provides hospital insurance for the elderly and disabled. The third type is unemployment
compensation which allows workers that are unemployed for a while to collect thirty five percent of
their lost wages. The second program is Pubic Assistance. The first type is Supplemental Security
Income(SSI) this program allows disabled people to receive a minimum income. Aid to Families with
Dependent Children(AFDC) and Medicaid usually are linked together. Medicaid will pay for hospital
bills. AFDC provides certain families with children financial support. Medicaid is also offered to SSI
recipiances. The food stamp program is the last type. It provides Americans with coupons that can be
used for food. The government spends about 736 billion of its dollars on these different types of
programs. Gentry 3

Theme Of Barbie Doll And The Death Of Marilyn Monroie
Poetry has a way of expressing its rage, grief, and irony at society and its social pressures. Although
each poem is different, they can carry a similar message that resonance with its audience. Barbie Doll
by Marge Piercy and The Death of Marilyn Monroe by Sharon Olds express how beauty weighs
women s lives and cause a tragic end from being the perfect specimen. Both discuss a similar theme
but carry the message out a difference way. In order to understand its similarities and differences it is
necessary to analyze the text to find its denotation and connotation. The poems Barbie Doll and The
Death of Marilyn Monroe share the themes of death and beauty, and how beauty affects society.
In Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy it tells the story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both poems use names from iconic beauty icons. Barbies are seen by little girls and are the first things
to influence how they should define beauty. Normally the dolls have skinny bodies and small noses
and are able to have multiple careers and are admired by men. Thus, little girls grow up wanting to be
like Barbie. Marilyn Monroe is a sex icon who looks other women began to copy. Unlike Barbie she
was curvy and had an acting career, but she was also adored by men. Both icons influenced women on
how to look and impress men, but the influence becomes problematic and difficult to maintain
because only dolls and superstars to can survive that life. Even idols cannot survive that life, as proven
by Monroe. Only Barbie, an object can be seen as the perfect woman. Both poems use these names to
highlight how impossible it is for women to seen as normal or to be accepted as they are. Thus, an
early death can happen when the pressure is too much to handle and each poem has a tone of sadness
at both women s death. However, the Death of Marilyn Monroe encourages women to live and not be
like the icons they admire, while Barbie Doll see s it fit to strive for beauty until the

Mustafa Kemal and the Battle of Gallipoli Essays
At the onset of World War 1 in 1914, the sick man of Europe known as Turkey, or the Ottoman
Empire, sought foreign financial aid after the stress of the Balkan Wars. The belligerents of World War
1 saw an opportunity in the Ottoman misfortune, as a Turkish alliance equated to control of the
Dardanelles Strait near the peninsular city of Gallipoli. To the Allies consisting of Russia, Britain, and
France, the Dardanelles was Russia s primary contact route, and also facilitated the movement of 90%
of Russia s grain exports and 50% of Russia s exports overall. Conversely, to the Central Powers of
Germany and Austria Hungary, control of the strait posed a major threat to the Allies. When Britain

Pasha dismissed Kemal s contributions in the final intelligence report, even though Kemal s superior
understanding of the enemy and terrain were justified with the Allies landing at the predicted
locations. In contrast to General Pasha, Mustafa Kemal valued all input from his staff, subordinate
commanders, and Soldiers to achieve a holistic approach to understanding the situational environment.
Before the war ended, nearly every top Turkish military official had personally interacted with
Mustafa Kemal in Gallipoli. By interacting with his staff and subordinates, Kemal maintained accurate
running estimate reports which he could validate in a real context on the battlefield. Staff estimates
played vital roles in the operations process, but Kemal s way of framing problems to include factors
like troop morale assisted in more effective placement and employment of key personnel.
Understanding enemy forces played as important of a role as with friendly forces. The Western world
was not familiar with Ottoman culture or capabilities, and the prevailing Western view was that Kemal
was in charge of a disorganized group of Arabs. Mustafa Kemal served in the Italo Turkish War and
ensured that he and his Soldiers were well trained in the latest German doctrine, providing a powerful
understanding of Western military operations. With superior understanding of the terrain, the enemy,
and his troops,

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich concentrates on one man, Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, as he
lives through one day in a Soviet gulag. The conditions of the camp are harsh, illustrating a world that
has no tolerance for independence. Camp prisoners depend almost totally on each other s productivity
and altruism, even for the most basic human needs. The dehumanising atmosphere of the gulag
ironically forces prisoners to discover means to retain their individuality while conforming to the
harsh rules, spoken and unspoken, of the camp. One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich serves as a

Time is a very important factor for those living in the camps. Each moment they can get that the
authorities do not control gives them a feeling of freedom and hope. These spare seconds enable
Denisovich to keep going, giving him time to collect his thoughts, and rest his work weary body.
[T]hat moment ... belonged to the prisoners. While the authorities were sorting things out you stuck to
the warmest place you could find. Sit down, take a rest, you ll have time enough to sweat blood.
Another major theme is the trust between individuals and their leaders and peers, a relationship
necessary for day to day living. The prisoners are divided up into teams, and each team is controlled
by a team leader. These teams live, eat, and work together, and it is interesting to look at the variety of
personalities in each team. The teams are fed according to their job performance, so if someone in the
team is shirking their responsibilities, the whole team suffers. Forcing the zeks to depend on their
fellow prisoners makes it much easier for the authorities to control them. They have to work hard
because if they shirk their responsibilities the rest of the team does not get to eat. The team members
insult and urge each other on, knowing full well that if they do not work to their full potential they will
not eat well. It was like this: either you got a bit of extra or you all croaked. You re

Study conducted by British Antarctic Survey in 2004 emphasized that Antarctic krill numbers are
declining. Krill are very significant to the Antarctic food web and this decline could threaten whales,

decline in sea ice, their habita. Sea ice is a vigorous feeding ground for the enormous number of krill
in the Southern Ocean. The research shows that krill decreased by about 80% since the 1970s. Krill
feed on the algae which are found under the surface of the sea ice. The Antarctic Peninsula, an

Raising Minimum Wage Research Paper
Living on minimum wage with companies that pay with the bare minimum has never been a walk in
the park for anyone. Whether you are an individual that lives by yourself or a parent that has children
to take care of, minimum wage doesn t provide enough to live a comfortable life. Many people say
that if the minimum wage is raised, there will be negative repercussions. However, there is evidence
that shows the complete opposite. This evidence would include how living conditions would improve,
happier employees result in better work output, and there would be an increase in sales due to people
being able to afford more. Raising the minimum wage to match rates of inflation would benefit and
improve lives. The life of someone whose only choice to make a living is through a low paying,

Employees don t seem as miserable to go to their minimum wage jobs when they feel like they re
being paid fairly for the work they are contributing to. More money for the employees takes stress off
their backs because living on minimum wages makes things tight. Raising it will give these employees
a bit of wiggle room. Michael Ungar wrote an article on the psychology of what could happen if the
minimum wage was raised. In his article, he talks about how family life would be improved because
parents will be less stressed. Workers of companies will be less stressed about making ends meet when
they have extra money to use as they please. An example of a company that took it into their own
hands to show their employees that their work needed to be valued more is Costco. Costco pays their
starting hourly employees $11.50 and an average of $20 or more. Their employees are also given

The Duck Creek watershed in Scott County, IA is currently facing high levels of Escherichia coli (E.
coli) bacteria contamination. This pollution has put the watershed on the impaired waters list for the
state of Iowa. The impaired waters list is a comprehensive list of every waterway in a state that has a
contamination problem according to EPA regulations (insert source for impaired waters explanation
EPA regulations). Much of the pollution that can be found in the Duck Creek watershed is coming
from nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. Nonpoint source pollution significantly contributes to the
deterioration of water quality due to the difficulty in identifying, assessing and controlling the sources
of this type of pollution (citation Wang). This pollution is caused by runoff moving over the land. It
picks up and carries away natural and human made pollutants, finally depositing them into lakes,
streams, rivers, wetlands and even our underground sources of drinking water (citation SCSWCD).
Examples of nonpoint sources in the watershed could include failing septic systems, livestock access
to streams, pastures full of manure, fertilizers applied to crops, miscellaneous urban sources such as
gasoline or oil, pet waste, and wildlife (citation SCSWCD). Another source of NPS pollution is that

The Colonies And The New World

The Colonies
It all started in the 17th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find the New World where they
could start their new lives and spread religion along with improving their status in life. It began with
Jamestown; now know as Virginia, when it became the first settlement that soon was established as
the first colony. Not too far long, pilgrims traveled to the New World and discovered Plymouth in the
colony of Massachusetts. As time went by, many disagreements over the boundaries of the colonies
rose and The French and Indian War broke out. After the war, England took control over the colonies
and was broken into 4 major regions The major regions were called New England, Middle,
Chesapeake Bay, and the Southern Colonies. Despite the location and area the colonies settled, each
colony had their own similarities and differences; thus, based on political, religious, self governing,
and land owning. These individual colonies declared independence from Britain and without a
hesitation, they broke out and each went their ways.
Four major colonies that made up New England were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode
Island, and Connecticut Colony. Pilgrims, also known as puritans, left the Church of England to travel
to the New World in request of land and to have the choice of religion. The puritans then became
known as the separatists . Soon after, William Bradford and 67 migrants traveled from

Because there were other interested buyers, a decision had to be made within three or four weeks. This

are the important industry trends? ■ What are the emerging production technologies? ■ What are the

Religious Influence In The Aztec s Judicial System
The Aztec Empire upheld a very sophisticated, potent, and harsh legal system. The judicial system
they had resembles a modern one today: it was made up of multiple courts with differing levels of
jurisdiction, such as trial courts, appellate courts, and a supreme court. Moreover, citizens could
appeal rulings to a higher court if they did not agree with the ruling they were given from the judge.
Although the Aztecs were very religious, they preferred to be swift and empirical when it came to the
law, choosing to judge a criminal without their religious beliefs interfering. This, however, did not
apply to the sentences and punishments given to the criminals. Some sentences were given without
their religion interfering, such as slavery and mutilation. In other cases, punishments, such as human
sacrifice, were for a religious purpose. These harsh sentences and punishments helped the Aztec
Empire effectively instill fear into the people, which helped maintain control.
The court system was comprised of various courts with different levels of jurisdiction. These courts
were the trial courts, appellate courts, and a supreme court. The trial courts were known as Teccalli
courts, and heard civil and criminal cases involving commoners; civil judgments by this court were
considered final, but criminal sentences could be appealed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Coriolanus And Cressida Essay
Chris Baldick defines rhetoric as the deliberate exploitation of eloquence for the most persuasive
effect . This is certainly seen at work in Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida, two Jacobean dramas
with war and politics at their centre. In both plays, characters attempt to employ rhetoric as a
persuasive tool for political ends. In Troilus and Cressida, Ulysses aims to use rhetoric and political
machinations to mobilise a war weary army. On the other hand, Coriolanus s reluctance to use, and
dislike of, rhetoric, results in further social disruption and war. Though rhetoric may be considered an
unethical tool of manipulation, it is nonetheless useful for maintaining social order in these plays,
where war threatens to throw society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Linked Data On The World Wide Web Essay
Linked data is the process of utilizing and sharing individual data on the World Wide Web. It is more
specific than just uploading a large file to the Internet to be shared. Linking data gives very specific
information about all of the components of a document, not just a complete file. By utilizing this
process researchers can collect data more easily about similar topics without having to read large
documents of information. By linking this information in computer readable data format, this data can
be easily searched for on the web. This data becomes easily searchable on the web and can be found
and used with current library information. This machine readable information can be read by
computers and does not have to rely upon the human eye to read and understand the data. This process
will limit human error and produce information quicker and better than ever.
Linked Data in Libraries In recent years, the area of linked data has become a topic that many in the
library field have spent more time and effort pursuing. For many of us, searching the Internet has
become a daily event, and finding information has become a much easier task with the use of the
World Wide Web (Corbett, 2016). Libraries are going through a period of transition and change and
must keep up with the expectations of its users. The future role of libraries must mold into what is
needed to meet new service needs (Wallis, 2015). It is very important that more academic information

The Cause Of Bizare s Short Stories
Florida can be a strange and scary place sometimes, and anyone who lives there understands the truth
of that statement. Bizarre stories show up on the local news every day that leave the public
questioning, What could have possibly been the cause of that? I can recall one of these abnormal and
somewhat surreal situations that happened not too long ago. It was later in the evening, and I was
driving down a quiet street in order to get to friend s birthday party. Out of the corner of eye, I saw
only what I could make out to be a younger man in his early twenties riding down the sidewalk on a
skateboard while wearing a purple Teletubby costume and smoking a cigarette. Because I have been a

Being a broke college student that has to go to school on a ratty old skateboard can be rough, and
anyone in a situation as miserable as his would look for a way to make some quick and easy cash to
help pay for tuition. After discovering his purple Teletubby costume from three Halloweens past, he
wrangled up a group of his friends to film an entire bootleg series of the Teletubbies. After a dreadful
week of nonstop filming, he and his buddies had re recorded a shoddy and budgeted version of the
children s show. On his way back to the grungy apartment he had been renting for the past month, he
figured he would use the long skateboard ride home for a smoke break to relieve the stress from a
rough week of filming. Much to his surprise, the poorly made videos had millions of views and
downloads by the time he arrived at his apartment. Due to the popularity, the federal government
quickly discovered the counterfeit videos and promptly arrested the actors. A few months later, the
broke college student was released from the county jail late in the evening. Since he had no other
clothes, there was no other choice but to wear the shameful Teletubby costume during his lengthy
skateboard ride home. Much to his relief, there was a singular cigarette in the inside pocket of the
costume, which he happily smoked all the while

Autism is a disorder characterized by severe difficulties in social interaction and communication and

Independent of the genome screens, evidence suggests that the region on chromosome 15q11 13
contains a gene or genes relevant to Autism. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Basically, there are suggestions
that the chromosome 15q11 13 is somehow mutated, deleted, or duplicated, causing this disorder to
transpire. In addition to genetics, environmental factors can influence Autism; though they are not
greatly supported ideas, they can t be entirely ruled out. In the UK there have been reports of the
measles vaccine having a part in causing this disorder. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Newer studies have
even shown that prenatal care before a woman even conceives reduces the risk extensively. Woman
who did not take a daily multivitamin in the three months before conception and during the first month
of pregnancy were almost twice as likely to give birth to a child with ASD as a woman who had taken
a daily multivitamin. (The Harvard Mental Health Letter 2011). Multivitamins contain a lot of helpful
vitamins to maintain a healthy pregnancy, but researchers suggest that the folic acid is the most
significant influence that reduces the risk of a child born with ASD. (The Harvard Mental Health

Software Design Of A Computer Based System
A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic
requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its
components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a
blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009).
The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and
designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of
the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This
paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform
characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the
architectural design. Further, an assessment of the structuring requirements associated with software
architecture is included.
Architectural Design Structure An architectural design performs key functions, and is of crucial
importance in software engineering during the phase of software development where the essential
requirements of reliability, cost, and performance are determined. Architectural design provides the
definition of the abstraction level at which the software design specifies both the functional and
performance behaviors of the system, and the guidelines for enhancing the system by

stairs when me and her singing and playing piano. And the time where I and she would sit outside my
house then walk to the park to watch the fireworks on 4th of July. These memories are what make you

Case 2 is in regards to Maria a 68 year old sedentary woman who is obese, with poor activity
tolerance. She also complains of cold hands and feet, is hypertensive, with bilateral lower legs being
edematous, and an echocardiogram demonstrating myocardial enlargement (Unit 1, n.d.). Further
diagnostic work up will be needed to determine the extent of Maria s disease process; however, there
are some basic premises that may be deduced from what has been presented so far with this case.
Several concerning factors that have resulted in Maria s symptoms are her obesity, sedentary lifestyle,
hypertension, and myocardial enlargement. Obesity is associated with numerous chronic diseases,
including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, and coronary atherosclerosis

the cell resulting in cell death. As the oxygen tension in the cell increases, anaerobic metabolism
begins building up lactic acid and reducing pH levels causing biochemical reactions, chromatin

1. Discuss the factors that have resulted in the NFL becoming America s Game and the most popular
sport in the country?
The fundamental reason for NFL becoming America s Game and the most popular sport in the country
is because the NFL was able to market the sport as an entertainment business.
Leveraging television and the fact that American football was only played in America, the
NFL was able to create a holiday feel that was unique and that American s took pride in, as a result
paid more attention to the sport. Another contributing factor was to control the quality of the product.

extremely normal in Formula One.
3. Discuss Peter O Reilly s marketing/brand strategy discussed in the case along with Alex and Matt s

can more effectively build the NFL brand and continue to grow its fan base?
Peter O Reilly s marketing/ brand strategy s main objective was to generate pride amongst individual,

American football is not a global sport but has global audience in terms of numbers. By marketing the

  • 2. Rapid Decline Of Crime In The 1990s Components of the Rapid Decline in Crime of the 1990s The 1960s were more than just Civil Rights and Woodstock. Contrary to what the people believed, the 1960s was an important decade in regards to ending the peaceful period of crime decline that the United States had been enjoying since 1930 (Levitt, Dubner 115 146). The United States was about to see the highest crime rates in its history by the end of the 1980s, heading for the 1990s. Upon entering the 1990s though, what was being recorded were record levels of crime, but in the opposite direction as predicted (Levitt, Dubner 115 146). Instead of the highest crime rates, the United States actually observed rates similar to that of the 1960s. Although the 1960s were when crime began to steadily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) realized that these numbers are substantial, and that this was not the only sector of crime falling. Robbery fell 40%, burglary fell 33%, and rape and assault both fell by 20% ( Uniformed Crime Reporting). The 1980s saw some of the highest crime rates in history, and as a result, many different strategies were being implemented in order to control the expected increase in the 1990s. In effect, the 1990s saw the largest decrease in crime in US history, and had the lowest crime levels since 1960 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince. In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid (Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job, relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels. Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks fragile and needs a man to save her. This also shows that usually the women are the ones being saved, so that the men can be the ones doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Kgb In Animal Farm Essay The KGB Wouldn t it be nice to have a secret police force that listened to every word and killed anyone the spot with no remorse? Well that pretty much sums up the KGB, they were a ruthless secret police service that worked for whoever was in power for Russia. Under the wrong control they were very destructive. In Animal Farm the dogs represented the KGB. The KGB was one of many roots of secret police. The 1st, strongest and most durable, was CHEKA . CHEKA was originally formed in 1917, during the first days of the Bolshevik government. It played a major role in the Russian Civil War with multiple investigations and executions. Feliks Dzerzhinsky, CHEKA s chief during the early years of Soviet power, molded the service into an effective, merciless tool of the ruling Communist Party (Pringle). CHEKA s power was almost over whelming, so in order to even some of the power out they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joseph Stalin was one of the biggest villains of his time. Right off the bat the NKVD s surveillance was increased and they had claimed to have found enough evidence to uncover anti Soviet conspiracies among long term part members. This can relate to a part in Animal farm, when Napoleon (representation of Stalin) had the dogs (representation of the KGB/NKVD) chase of Snowball (representation of the long term power) for they believed he sided with the humans (representation of anti Soviet powers). The NKVD was later split into 2 branches, the other being called GPU. Unlike the other branches of the KGB that stayed stationary in Russia, the GPU would travel the world. While the GPU traveled the NKVD stayed home in Russia and took care of Stalin s business by executing people or sending them to gulogs . Gulogs were just dungeons or buildings only used by KGB. Thesis: I will be demonstrating how to make a I. Introduction: A. Attention Getter: In 2012 Starbucks made over $13.29 billion dollars. With that amount of money you could buy eight billion, eight hundred and sixty million of their cake pops. Though that seems like enough cake pops to satisfy anyones appitite I highly doubt that most of us have thirteen billion dollars to spend. B. If I wanted a picture I d buy a painting. The second part is where the fun part actually starts, you re going to add one or two heaping spoonfuls of regular white frosting to the crumbled up cake you have. Keep adding frosting until you get the consistency pretty doughy, but still firm enough to handle. After kneeding the dough thoroughly you re going to want to roll the dough out inch size balls. A normal box of cake mix should make about 20 cake pops. After all the balls are rolled out, they should go in the fridge or freezer for about a half an hour to help them set. After those agonizing thirty minutes are up, you re able to take the cake pops out of the refrigerator or freezer, and then melt some almond bark. After dipping the stick in the almond bark, you re going to want to stick it about halfway through the now official cake pop . The chocolate on the stick is to help the stick stay sturdy while you actually eat the sweet treat. When you ve finished putting the sticks into each of the cake balls, you should put them back into the refrigerator in order to help the chocolate solidify. Transition: The last part we re going to focus on is probably the most simple. Decorating the cake pop. Using the previously melted almond bark, you can simply dip the cake pop in and spread a thin layer of chocolate all around the pop. While the chocolate is still wet, feel free to decorate in any way you d like. For today I just used simple sprinkles but there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti-Smoking Adverts Anti smoking ads can be found all over the internet and TV . I choose an anti smoking ad where an African American male walks into a general store and has to pull out a tooth to receive his pack of cigarettes. I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos, ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and asked for pack of cigarettes. The scene makes me super uncomfortable at just the thought of someone pulling out their tooth with a pair of pliers. Not only is he pulling his tooth out but they put in ... • 8. All About My Mother And Art Spiegelman Pedro AlmodĂłvar s film, All About my Mother and Art Spiegelman s graphic novel Maus, both attempt to make sense of the ways in which trauma shapes families. Both texts portray trauma as a divisive force between parents and children, however the expression of that division is variable. While Maus portrays trauma as purely divisive, All About my Mother demonstrates that trauma can create as well as destroy familial relationships. The two texts reconvene on the idea that the passage of trauma from parents to children serves as a means of recovery from trauma and pain. In both narratives, distance between parents and children is created because of a traumatic experience unique to the parent. In All About my Mother, this distance is manifested ... When I was a kid I used to think about which of my parents I d let the Nazis take to the ovens if I could only save one of them... I usually saved my mother. Do you think that s normal? (14). The fact that Artie can t comprehend his relationship to Vladek indicates his lack of understanding, and therefore distance from his father. Spiegelman s subsequent questioning of how he is to understand the Holocaust and Auschwitz, and his use of the same sentence structure in voicing those questions demonstrates the parallels between these two ignorances and underscores the causal relationship between misunderstanding his father and his ignorance of ... • 20. Duck Creek Watershed Essay Background (1 ¶): What is the Duck Creek Watershed? What problems is it facing? What is being done so far to remedy these problems? Who is working on this problem? The Duck Creek watershed in Scott County, IA is currently facing high levels of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria contamination. This pollution has put the watershed on the impaired waters list for the state of Iowa. The impaired waters list is a comprehensive list of every waterway in a state that has a contamination problem according to EPA regulations (insert source for impaired waters explanation EPA regulations). Much of the pollution that can be found in the Duck Creek watershed is coming from nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. Nonpoint source pollution significantly contributes to the deterioration of water quality due to the difficulty in identifying, assessing and controlling the sources of this type of pollution (citation Wang). This pollution is caused by runoff moving over the land. It picks up and carries away natural and human made pollutants, finally depositing them into lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and even our underground sources of drinking water (citation SCSWCD). The judicial system they had resembles a modern one today: it was made up of multiple courts with differing levels of jurisdiction, such as trial courts, appellate courts, and a supreme court. Moreover, citizens could appeal rulings to a higher court if they did not agree with the ruling they were given from the judge. This, however, did not apply to the sentences and punishments given to the criminals. Some sentences were given without their religion interfering, such as slavery and mutilation. In other cases, punishments, such as human sacrifice, were for a religious purpose. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Basically, there are suggestions that the chromosome 15q11 13 is somehow mutated, deleted, or duplicated, causing this disorder to transpire. In addition to genetics, environmental factors can influence Autism; though they are not greatly supported ideas, they can t be entirely ruled out. In the UK there have been reports of the measles vaccine having a part in causing this disorder. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Newer studies have even shown that prenatal care before a woman even conceives reduces the risk extensively. Woman who did not take a daily multivitamin in the three months before conception and during the first month of pregnancy were almost twice as likely to give birth to a child with ASD as a woman who had taken a daily multivitamin. (The Harvard Mental Health Letter 2011). Multivitamins contain a lot of helpful vitamins to maintain a healthy pregnancy, but researchers suggest that the folic acid is the most significant influence that reduces the risk of a child born with ASD. • 31. Software Design Of A Computer Based System A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009). The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the architectural design. Further, an assessment of the structuring requirements associated with software architecture is included. Architectural Design Structure An architectural design performs key functions, and is of crucial importance in software engineering during the phase of software development where the essential requirements of reliability, cost, and performance are determined. Architectural design provides the definition of the abstraction level at which the software design specifies both the functional and performance behaviors of the system, and the guidelines for enhancing the system by ... Cellular hypoxemia is resultant of inadequate amounts of oxygen being delivered to the cells or the inability of the cells to use the oxygen. This can be caused by ischemia, respiratory disease, vasoconstriction, vascular obstruction, edema, or anemia. Hypoxemia may result in power failure in the cell resulting in cell death. As the oxygen tension in the cell increases, anaerobic metabolism begins building up lactic acid and reducing pH levels causing biochemical reactions, chromatin clumping, and cell shrinkage. The leakage of intracellular enzymes into extracellular fluid is an indicator of cell injury or death (Grossman Mattson Porth, 2014). This is evident with the edema Maria is ...
