Physical Therapy Is The Health Profession
Physical therapy is the health profession that provides treatment and management of physical
disability, malfunction, or pain via various modalities, and without the use of medicines, surgery, or
radiation [1]. An individual who practices physical therapy is known as a physical therapist. Physical
therapists are experts of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems, and they evaluate and treat
patients for issues that involve those systems [2]. The role of a physical therapist is to evaluate
patients, and to provide treatment to patients that focus primarily on movement. This includes, but is
not limited to, restoration of movement as well as improving movement, reducing pain levels,
returning function that may have been lost, and improving function.[2] The most predominant clinical
setting where physical therapists... provide care include hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practices,
nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health, school systems, and sport centers [2]. Typically,
to receive access to the services provided by a physical therapist, a patient has to be referred to a
physical therapist by a physician. [2] Therefore, physical therapy is usually a secondary health care.
The profession of physical therapy sounds fantastic, because it is. However, the art of physical therapy
wasn t just born a perfect creature; it took some time to develop as a great profession.
The official history of physical therapy is a history that is quite new, and barely dates

Gender Stereotypes In Video Games
Introduction
As per the findings of the general social survey, administered by Statistics Canada (2010), video game
usage has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Most researchers seem to agree that the stereotypical
video game player is a young, white, heterosexual male (e.g. Shaw, 2012; Williams, Consalvo,
Caplan, Yee, 2009). In considering the topic of gender and gaming, one of the first questions to
consider is whether or not this stereotypical view of video game players is accurate. The
Entertainment Software Association (ESA) publishes a report containing statistics on video game
player demographics each year. In comparing these reports over time, an interesting trend is noted;
though males account for the majority of video game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Additionally, scantily clad clothing was added as a coding category. Scantily clad was defined as
insufficient clothing (e.g., neckline that exposes décolletage or bikinis). Each of the characteristics
identified by Burgess et al. (2007) portrayal in a sexy way, exaggerated bust, vulgar clothing, tight
clothing to accentuate body parts, and scantily clad clothing were rated as a count; the number of
characters displaying the aforementioned categories was recorded. The definition of physical
objectification for men was the same as for women; however, exaggerated bust was excluded from the
coding. Additionally, since not all video games include human characters, each game s cover was
rated for the absence/presence of human characters, as well as the number of human characters
present. Also, each human character s apparent sex was recorded.

Life Lesson By The Holocaust Analysis
Life Lesson Taught by the Holocaust
Imagine, hundreds of thousands of weak, hungry, beaten people grasping onto life through hope. No
one to turn to; no say on right and wrong. During the Holocaust, millions of Jewish people around the
world were treated as if animals and died because of their religion. Yet, how does this teach future
generations the causes and effects of bullying in their everyday lives? Though the Nazis, at the time,
believed they were doing the correct act by banishing all Jews; they have taught valuable life lessons.
Naturally, there are many diverse messages provided by this time period. From reading Righteous
Gentiles by Joe Greek, The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, and I

Princess Alice and Miep Gies risked their lives through good will to protect the important Jewish
people in their lives. This proves they were not bystanders. A bystander is defined as a person who
witnesses an incident taking place but does not get involved or take action. Both took action to do
what was right. Not to mention, each ignored the common belief that one practicing Judaism or those
of Jewish grandparents were threats to the population. Because Anne Frank was locked in the annex
and deprived of her original lifestyle, her young personality changed and she began to lose ambition.
This is also a downside that relates to bullying. Similarly, in modern bullying, victims become
depressed and their personalities change because they are treated variously and with little respect.
Moreover, when Sonia was recapping her past life and comparing it to the nightmare situations she
was facing at the moment, she and others shared an eruption of emotions. Once again, bullying too
can cause a great deal of emotions upon that person when constantly being teased by uniqueness.
From every hardship there is a lesson learned. There is a variety of inferences on what the Holocaust
has shown its younger generation. A man

Managing Investment Growth Of A Diversified Portfolio
Managing Investment Growth In order to maximize a portfolio s return, it is important to analyze risk
and diversify securities, while adhering to the goals of an investor. Through analyzing the different
classes of risk, one can match investments to an investor s risk tolerance and return requirements.
Even though some investments may present greater risk they are countered by a higher rate of return
and vice versa, less risk corresponds to a lower return. Moreover, investment risk can be substantially
reduced through diversification, which spreads a portfolio across different industries, businesses and
investment options. The makeup of a diversified portfolio continually changes based on an investor s
time horizon and investment goals. In accordance with the Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), one can
maximize return while reducing risk, through assessing investments standard deviation and beta.
When applied to the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) an investor can determine what the expected
rate of return should be and if the risk is worth it. Therefore, by analyzing risk and diversifying
investments one can maximize an investment growth, increasing a portfolios return.
Investment Risk Investment risk assesses the overall level of uncertainty or volatility associated with
an investments potential returns. As a result, investment risk helps determine the likelihood of
receiving an increased or decreased amount of the expected return on an investment. While risk is

The Art Of Jackson Pollock s White Light Painting
Jackson Pollock drew White Light painting in 1945. He used the oil, enamel, and aluminum paint on
canvas. This painting refers to the light spectrum which includes the rainbow colors. Therefore, the
colors in this painting are primary hue such as red, yellow, blue, and green. Beside of that, the painting
also has black and white colors. However, the main color of this painting is a white color. That is why,
in this painting, the white color goes and cross through other colors on the canvas, the way Jackson
Pollock drew is expressing the moving of white light. This blend of colors helps everyone to see the
dazzling white light. On the other word, it means that there will be a white light to brighten up our
darker days. That is why I can see the value of this painting is really closed because it looks beauty
and peace.
Jackson Pollock did not use the brush to draw the lines or created any shape for his painting and used
the dripping technique to draw his painting. That is why, if we look at this painting for the first time,
we can t imagine what the painting means because it does not have any shapes or lines. It also has
lines and shapes overlapping and do not follow a directed way. Although the painting does not have
exactly shape and line, it still the most dominant element because it performs the way of the white
lights goes.
In the White Light painting of Jackson Pollock, I think the repetition and balance of the principle of
design are strengthen for work visually.

Analysis Of The Catcher Of The Rye
Two Worlds, Two Choices, Two Boys
In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden Caulfield struggles to leave the real world around
him which he constantly fails to fit in. He is expelled from three schools before going to Pencey. He
then leaves Pencey for New York before Christmas. After experiencing the coldness of society in New
York, He decides to hitchhike to the West alone, escaping the society and leaving his family behind.
Instead, he chooses to dream about living in the fantasy world in his mind where all things he resists
do not exist. Among those things he resists in the real world, the phoniness of adults, the unavoidable
loss of children s innocence and his unbreakable bond with his family are the most significant ones
that schedule Holden s canceled departure.
Holden is unwilling to get along with phonies at his schools. When Holden explains the reason why he
leaves Elkton Hills School to Mr. Spencer, he gives an example: For instance, they had this
headmaster, Mr. Haas, that was the phoniest bastard I ever met in my life (Salinger 17). Holden finally
drops out of Elkton Hills because of the phoniness of his headmaster even though Holden has no
direct contact with him. However, Holden s abhorrence toward phonies is so great and evident that he
cannot even stand watching a phony s action from far away. Holden originally believes that changing
to another school will reduce his interaction with phonies, but his thought is proved wrong at Pencey.

American Civic Participation In The 20th Century

1.
American civic participation has changed in the 20th century. The first way civic participation has
changed is social liberation. Since the 1960s or so, exclusions on the basis of race and gender have
been breached. In the past, women and ethnic minorities were not allowed to join organizations as
members, so they joined partner organizations. However, some organizations were unable to cope with
change after the Civil Rights Movement happened and ideals changed and lost membership. Another
change is the decline in American patriotism. Skocpol writes, Patriotism, brotherhood, and sacrifice
were values celebrated by all fraternal groups, and military service was touted as the surest ... Show

Even though capitalism has its advantages such as fueling technological innovations, there are some
downsides to it. For example, capitalism creates inequalities and clear winners or losers in society.
However, some people blame the poor for their circumstances and attribute their economic misfortune
as due to a lack of morality (Lecture April 22, 2015).Those who blame the poor for their laziness are
unlikely to support welfare programs, such as food stamps, because they see those as handouts. Other
factors that divide United States citizens include LGBTQ issues, views of centralized government,
immigration, and gender issues. Americans are divided so politically due to their personal stances on
issues. Class, race, and gender definitely plays a role in the division. People side with politicians who
reflect their personal views and can implement policies that help them.

Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay
Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe
Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability or tendency
to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray Shelley s own
views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own lives. However, it
asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley demonstrates this idea by
using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is reflected through his choice of
writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when Shelley experienced significant life
changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first child to Mary Shelley, in the same year
Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O
Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of
the changes happening during 1816 which was named, The year without a summer due to extreme
changes in weather. During his trip to Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began
to create works to reflect this time of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being
exposed to so much change during 1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to
demonstrate the human ability to accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented.

This takes courage: Courage to step outside of societal norms. Courage to accept not only ourselves,
but to accept others, just as they are. Courage to learn the difference between belonging and fitting in.
Courage to discern between real fear that keeps you alive, and fear that keeps you from living.
Here are five ways to begin practicing ahimsa.
1. Go Outside Your Comfort Zone.
Begin by doing one thing daily that you normally wouldn t do. If you re feeling brave, make that one
thing that scares you.
2. Listen to Your Body.
Create balance by finding guidance from messages of your body. Practice yoga or find movement
through a connection to your breath and listen.
3. Check In With Yourself.
Notice what you might be avoiding in your own life because you are so interested in others lives. Are
you a worrier? A fixer? Discern the difference between help and support.
4. Pretend You Are Complete.
There is no need to expect anything from yourself, or to criticize, judge, or change anything about
you. Cultivate gratitude.

This explains the uncommon sighting of most turtles this time of the season. But as soon as the

Prospect Park in Brooklyn, we encountered a dead turtle. The lifeless shell was flipped over and

October 3, 2017 Abstract
The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of
8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this
experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and
2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was iron.
The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction. The

The solid was washed over vacuum filtration with a 15.0mL DI water rinse. Then the solid was
washed again by four 15.0mL rinses of acetone. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration for
exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the mass of the
crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as before, which
came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469 grams, calculated by
subtracting the initial weight of the crucible from the final weight.
Results
The empty sintered glass crucible had a mass of 30.5021 grams (table 1). Then the reaction occurred
and the copper precipitate was collected the crucible plus product had a mass of 32.9490 grams.
Therefore, the mass of the precipitated copper was 2.4469 grams. The moles of CuSO4 and Fe used

Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, And Mourning
Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, and Mourning
Laurel Ellzey
Denver School of Nursing
Abstract
Death is a part of life and eventually everyone on this earth will experience it. Nurses play an
important role in death. Mourning the death of a loved one is something that almost everyone will
experience in this lifetime because it is a natural response to death. Bereavement, grief and mourning
are all effected by one s culture, religion, the relationship with the deceased, personality, and how the
person died.
Bereavement Role
Nurses have a difficult yet unique role when it comes to bereavement. Nurses spend the most time
with patients, so they are most often the ones that patients choose to share their concerns, fears, and
grief with. According to Corr Coolican, (2010), bereavement is the term used when someone
significant is lost through death. According to Read (2002), nurses can help the bereaved by
acknowledging the death, using active listening, helping them to express their emotions and ensuring
that they are involved in the dying process. I am currently doing my senior capstone clinical rotation
at a jail and even though I haven t had to deal with any patient deaths so far, the patients that I deal
with are essentially experiencing a loss. To some of the inmates, being imprisoned is like losing a
loved one because they are cut off from the world and feel like their life is over. Even

Combating Worker Injustices During in the Late 19th Century
Workers in the late 19th century were treated unfairly the majority of the time. They worked in unsafe
conditions for meager pay. Young children joined the workforce to help support their families. Most of
the workers during this period were just thankful to earn a living, so they rarely complained about
their working conditions. All of these factors spurred the creation of labor unions during the 19th
century. The Knights of Labor, the American Federation of Labor, and the Industrial Workers of the
World were just a few of the unions established during this time. The Knights of Labor was founded in
1869 by Uriah S. Stephens. This union grew slowly, but managed to spread more rapidly even during
the depression of the 1870s. Some of the working stipulations that this union imposed were
elimination of convict labor competition, eight hour workdays, guarantee of salaries, and the use of
paper currency. They also wanted equal pay for both men and women, which was a first during those
times. A big achievement for the Knights of Labor was keeping children under fourteen out of the
workforce. The Preamble to the Constitution of the Knights of Labor stated that, The prohibition of
the employment of children in workshops, mines, and factories before attaining their fourteenth year.
This allowed children to be children at least until their teenage years, without the worries that adults
faced. The American Federation of Labor (AFL) was started in 1886. It was started

Information processing and cognitive development Essay
Information Processing and Cognitive Development
Information processing is a perspective (approach) to the study of cognition and cognitive
development in which the mind is likened to a computer. However, rather than focusing on mere input
and output, psychologists who adhere to this approach place specific emphasis on the processes of
cognitive development. Cognitive perspectives examine development in terms of mental processing.
The two major views within this subject are cognitive developmental theory and information
processing theory.
Theorists claim that our cognitive processes are like that of a computer. They have used this as a

Processing capacity is the amount of information a person can remember or think about ay one time.
Researchers measure it by representing a series of information very quickly and counting how many
items a person can remember in exact order this changes in processing capacity help explain age
differences on many kinds of cognitive tasks (learned tasks). As children mature an their capacity
grows, they gain the ability to consider several sources of information at the same time, and their
cognitive processing becomes more flexible and powerful (Cook).
When the brain recognizes familiar tasks it processes the information and applies the correct rules to
the procedure in order to reduce the demand on the working memory and allow for higher order
processing of information. Automaticity is the ability to effortlessly complete everyday tasks with low
interference of other simultaneous activities and without conscious thought. The development of
automaticity involves a shift in brain usage and a reduction in brain activity. As skills are repeated, the
brain recognizes the information and can process it more quickly and with less effort(Cook).
Attention becomes more sustained and selective with age; children become better at focusing on just
those aspects of a situation that are relevant to their goals. Older children are also better at adapting
attention to task requirements. Gains in cognitive inhibition,

English Song Critique
The first goal I set for the second quarter was to Write and record an English song. While I did not
completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs.
Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit.
The first, which I have tentatively titled Melody, started with me humming a rhythmic piano part, then
a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand, with an electric guitar part as a
placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool techno/electronic effects, percussion parts, and
bass parts, and utilized them in my project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought them into
class one day and implored Vanessa to help me finish the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

contains the easily recognized elements of telling a narrative, linear story beginning, middle and end,
with a recognizable story arc that contains the classic elements of drama and delivery; it also has
relatable imagery to appeal to audiences (Anderson). Unlike Melody, for this song I developed the
melody of the chorus first, building around the opening line you re an outlaw. While I was singing, I
couldn t help but feel that the song sounded Taylor Swift like, which is a very different sound from my
other two pieces. I didn t want to forget my song idea, so as soon as I returned home after the walk, I

is to entertain people by surprising them with new experiences. Since, the early 1990 s, there has only
been two heavy weight gaming consoles: PlayStation and Xbox. Over the years, they both have
tremendously evolved into impressive gaming consoles. A gaming console is a device which outputs a

the PS4 and Xbox One are both excellent gaming consoles. They do have a few differences such as
price, exclusive games, and exterior/interior design. When buying a gaming consoles, be prepared to
spend a lump sum of cash. The PS4 used to cost 400 dollars since being first released back on
November 14, 2013, but recently it has dropped down to 350 dollars. The Xbox One price has
fluctuated since first being released on November 22, 2013. When it first launched in the United
States, the original price was 100 dollars more than that of the PS4 s original price of 400 dollars. In
todays society, people or perhaps only me, tend to buy the cheaper options of things. So of course,
people brought the PS4 over the Xbox One. Microsoft must have thought their gaming console was far

Essay Jack London s To Build a Fire
Jack London s To Build a Fire
Nature is always pushing man to his limits. When man heeds the warning signs that nature has to offer
and those warnings of other men, he is most likely to conquer nature. When he ignores these
warnings, nature is sure to defeat man. To build a fire is a prime example of this scenario. In the short
story, To Build a Fire by Jack London, an inexperienced traveler in the Yukon travels alone with his
dog, even though it is ill advised to do so. The man is strong and smart but nature humbled him during
his quest to reach his friends. The man s inexperience with traveling in the cold subzero temperatures
doomed him from the beginning, but his strong focus under extreme pressure and his keen sense of ...

He had the book smarts about walking through the Yukon but he lacked the street smarts. He may lack
experience and imagination in traveling in subzero temperatures but his calm nature allows him to stay
focused, even when the fire is snuffed out by the falling snow from the tree and he thought of it as
hearing his own death sentence. It was as though he had just heard his own sentence of death. For a
moment he sat and stared at the spot where the fire had been. Then he grew very calm. (London, 529)
Furthermore, when he is sure he will lose his toes and fingers, he does not lose sight of his most
important goal, surviving. London tells how, even when in grave danger, the man regroups without
panic and strong belief in his own abilities. Well, it was up to him to build the fire over again, and this
second time there must be no failure. Even if he succeeded, he would most likely lose some toes and
Such were his thoughts, but he did not sit and think them. (London, 529)
When his inexperience exposes itself to him, he remembers the old timers words of wisdom. The man
did not realize the prudence behind the old timer s words of wisdom. He ignored the old timers
cautions and dangers of traveling alone, making him foolish and naïve to his situation. That man from
Sulphur Creek had spoken the truth when telling how cold it sometimes got in the country. And he had

Use Of Irony In Rear Window
In the classic movie Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, uses of irony occur frequently until
the movie meets its tragic end. Starting with Jeff s confinement and ending with the symbolic death of
Lisa, the movie has a constant somber tone and ends with a final disastrous moment. These tragedies
are often complemented with irony, the usage of a character or plot development in order to state the
opposite of what is being physically said/shown.
After the camera shows the viewers the inhabitants of the community, it lands on Jeff. First, it shows
all of Jeff s photos from his travels. These show the viewer that Jeff is a photojournalist and travels

Jefferies. The camera symbolically tell us the story of a man who loved to explore and immortalize
moments, now confined in a single room with only his memory to make things last. This is ironic
because it is showing a man who is completely miserable in his current situation, but later in the
movie he gets entirely wrapped up in the view from his terrible confinement. In fact, he even risks his
life because he is so obsessed with his new life. Despite what he physically projects, he loves where
he is at. Later in the movie, irony comes up yet again. Miss Lonelyheart is shown setting the table for

there. She still escorts this person in and seats him at her table. She pours him wine and then collapses

Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament)
Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament) Arms control refers to any international limitation or regulation
where developing, testing, producing, deploying, or even using weapons is concerned on the basis that
it is inevitable for some national military establishments to continue existing. This concept points to
some type of collaboration between states that are antagonistic or competitive in general when it
comes to military policy, in a bid to lower the chances of war and in the event of such, to limit its
damage (Jones 4). From a broader perspective, arms control is a product of historical state practices

In addition, the raw materials to produce the beverages, such as sweeteners, juice, fruit, water, etc. can
highly impact the selling price to the end consumer and during a recession this is a formula for failure.
If a situation like this were to arise than the company with the least costs and own distribution center
will most likely be the only one to survive due to the fact that they will be able to offer the consumer
the one thing that they want the most, the cheapest price. * Threat of new entrant:
The threat of new entry in today s beverage market is low because of several factors. However we are
only going to discuss the main points of why the threat is low in today s market which include; High
cost barriers due to the role of bottlers, saturated American market due to brand loyalty created by
Pepsi and Coke, emerging markets laws and regulations, and costly risks to match consumer taste
trends and preferences.
Each of the 3 main competitors in the beverage industry has some type of bottling process which is a
part of their manufacturing and distribution process. As I stated above, in rivalry among competitors,
some of the competitors such as Pepsi and Coke own their own bottling companies. This is a major
advantage to possess however if they do not own them then they have created legal documented

The Hegemonic Construction Of Ireland
Migration has fundamentally changed the nature of Irish society. Ireland has recently become a
country of immigration; nonetheless the changes have been rapid and have changed the country
significantly both north and south of the boarder. It is one of a number of peripheral European
countries which has transformed from having a lengthy history of emigration, to becoming a recipient
of substantial inward migration. In Ireland today, migration Is one of the topics under discussion
(Gilmartin White 2008; 143). Although written in 2008, the statement remains true a number of years
later. Irish society has changed much in the last decade; new immigrant communities of ethnic
minorities are visible throughout the country. As a consequence of immigration, people are different in
significant ways and these differences create both opportunities and challenges.
This essay aims to analyse the current hegemonic construction of Ireland as an open, welcoming and
multicultural society on account of immigration. Additionally, the essay will draw upon the
overpowering prejudices shaped within contemporary Irish society by way of examining experiences
of racism within migration and non nationals. For the purpose of this essay, the definition of an
immigrant will follow closely what Hammar has proposed, An immigrant is a person who migrates to
a country and then actually resides there longer than a short period of time, i.e. for more than three

The Use of Discourse Markers
So um, I mean yeah I was wondering if like, you had any job openings for this summer? This was the
way a potential employee approached my dad, asking if he had a position for them to work this

individuals in this day and age, many individuals not even realizing they are using them. But why do
we use discourse markers? And do they make people seem unprofessional or uneducated to potential
employers? One view of the use of discourse markers comes from Jean E. Fox Tree, a cognitive

The women also typically thought they used less filler words than the men. This was surprising, as it
was not expected that there would be a difference in how many filler words they thought they used.
While this data may not be representative for men and women of all ages, it does give a good idea of
how college students differ using discourse markers.
In the second part of my experiment, the participants were told the experiment was actually about the
use of filler words, and then they were asked to answer the question Can you describe the moment you
said goodbye to your parents before they left you at college? . When the participants concentrated on
not using discourse makers, the number of times they used them went down drastically. Two out of the
three women and all three men told the whole story without using a single filler word or discourse
marker. But while they were not using these words, there were awkward silences in which the
participant would think about what to say next. This was very interesting, as it may explain another
reason why we use discourse markers and filler words. We want to avoid these awkward silences in
which neither person is saying anything, so we use these words and phrases to cease the

Contributive Causes Of The American Revolution
Without the American Revolution, the United States would not exist.
Before the American Revolution, the nation was a collection of 13 British colonies that were united by
the British monarchy. During this time it was ruled by British Parliament which was 3500 miles away
and a journey by ship that was 27 days long in the ideal situation but could be up to 6 8 weeks. All of
the colonies with the exception of Georgia were formed by people trying to escape some form of
persecution. One of the main contributive factors to the American Revolution was the Intolerable Acts
(or otherwise known in Great Britian as the Coercive Acts); which included the Boston Port Act, the
Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act.
The Boston Port Act was passed by parliament on March 31, 1774. This Act was designed to punish
the inhabitants of Boston, Massachusetts for the incident that would later become known as the
Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament demanded that the city s residents pay for the nearly $1
million worth (in today s money) of tea dumped in to Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This
act closed the port of Boston so tightly that the colonists could not even bring hay in from
Charlestown to give to their starving horses. Only food and firewood were permitted into the port. The
events leading up to this act included the Boston Massacre which occurred on December 16, 1773.

The American Dream in What’s So Great About America and...
The American Dream is so many different things to so many different people. While other countries

Dinesh D Souza claims that it is not wealth that Americans want. He believes that it is simply a better

for themselves. These two views of the American Dream come from very opposite Americans, but it is
their differences that make their ideals so beautifully unique.

for, the American way of life. (D Souza, 73) As if it was coming from a foreigner, he continues to
exemplify the American Dream as an outsider looking in and seeing all of the splendor and appeal of
Americans lives. It is this enchantment that causes people from all ends of the Earth to migrate to the
United States and even leave their families and traditions. The most emphasized element and
essentially the core of the American Dream is the ability to, write the script of your own life. (D
Souza, 83) The writer gives his own real life example of the American Dream, through his emergence

the constant comparisons with the inequalities present in countries throughout the World, D Souza is
fascinated with the diversity of America and the, tolerant society , that this diversity has spawned. (D

are nearly political polar opposites. Michael Moore mercilessly attacks the government s refusal to

Euthanasi The Complex Role Of The Physician With Physician...
The theoretical aim of this thesis is to introduce euthanasia, the complex role of the physician with
physician assisted suicide (PAS) under the argument that it is not an issue of passive or active. Nor
right or wrong. Euthanasia is defined as the act or practice of killing or allowing someone to die on
grounds of mercy (Morally Disputed Issues: A Reader, 341). In its complexion euthanasia is not
merely a dead or alive decision as it truly is at its core goal. There is passive euthanasia which is
defined as withholding treatment such as a ventilator or fluids. There is active euthanasia which is
prescribing or initiating a substance that would allow a person to stop living. We also have to consider
voluntary euthanasia a patient seeks to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times when a terminal patient has six months to live they still have autonomy. One would need
to be autonomous to be approved for PAS and as such we can infer that the patient is able to make
peace, tie up loose ends, find comfort in religion, and be comforted with family before being
consumed by the disease. Giving the patient the option to die with dignity vs. naturally where time and
treatments slowly deteriorate the mind and body can offer freedom from suffering for the patient and
family. For example if a patient that felt ill and after medical testing receives a diagnosis that she has a
rare systemic cancer and at best has six months to live. That patient then could with the support of her
family discuss everything that needs to be taken care of prior to the advancement of the disease. After
taking care of business, the patient could discuss with her family and friends ways to create special
days leading up to her last day. This option could give the family, as well as the patient, the possibility
to say goodbye before the disease has removed autonomy and personality. This patient s family would
not have to watch their daughter, wife, sister, or mother suffer greatly to the point she screams for God
to take her.
In support of James Rachel s belief that withholding PAS in a suffering patient is the equivalent to
endorsing more suffering, I refute

doing good work is a journalist, named Suarez, who ultimately ended up hating his job because of the
boss and the profit hungry people in charge. In Good Work, Well Done: A Psychological Study by
Howard Gardner, Suarez, who was a journalist for a pyramid system was incharge of a story about the

  • 2. Physical Therapy Is The Health Profession Physical therapy is the health profession that provides treatment and management of physical disability, malfunction, or pain via various modalities, and without the use of medicines, surgery, or radiation [1]. An individual who practices physical therapy is known as a physical therapist. Physical therapists are experts of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems, and they evaluate and treat patients for issues that involve those systems [2]. The role of a physical therapist is to evaluate patients, and to provide treatment to patients that focus primarily on movement. This includes, but is not limited to, restoration of movement as well as improving movement, reducing pain levels, returning function that may have been lost, and improving function.[2] The most predominant clinical setting where physical therapists... provide care include hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practices, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health, school systems, and sport centers [2]. Typically, to receive access to the services provided by a physical therapist, a patient has to be referred to a physical therapist by a physician. [2] Therefore, physical therapy is usually a secondary health care. The profession of physical therapy sounds fantastic, because it is. • 3. Gender Stereotypes In Video Games Introduction As per the findings of the general social survey, administered by Statistics Canada (2010), video game usage has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Most researchers seem to agree that the stereotypical video game player is a young, white, heterosexual male (e.g. Shaw, 2012; Williams, Consalvo, Caplan, Yee, 2009). In considering the topic of gender and gaming, one of the first questions to consider is whether or not this stereotypical view of video game players is accurate. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) publishes a report containing statistics on video game player demographics each year. In comparing these reports over time, an interesting trend is noted; though males account for the majority of video game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (p.423). No one to turn to; no say on right and wrong. During the Holocaust, millions of Jewish people around the world were treated as if animals and died because of their religion. Yet, how does this teach future generations the causes and effects of bullying in their everyday lives? Though the Nazis, at the time, believed they were doing the correct act by banishing all Jews; they have taught valuable life lessons. Not to mention, each ignored the common belief that one practicing Judaism or those of Jewish grandparents were threats to the population. • 5. Managing Investment Growth Of A Diversified Portfolio Managing Investment Growth In order to maximize a portfolio s return, it is important to analyze risk and diversify securities, while adhering to the goals of an investor. Through analyzing the different classes of risk, one can match investments to an investor s risk tolerance and return requirements. Even though some investments may present greater risk they are countered by a higher rate of return and vice versa, less risk corresponds to a lower return. Moreover, investment risk can be substantially reduced through diversification, which spreads a portfolio across different industries, businesses and investment options. The makeup of a diversified portfolio continually changes based on an investor s time horizon and investment goals. In accordance with the Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), one can maximize return while reducing risk, through assessing investments standard deviation and beta. When applied to the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) an investor can determine what the expected rate of return should be and if the risk is worth it. Therefore, by analyzing risk and diversifying investments one can maximize an investment growth, increasing a portfolios return. Investment Risk Investment risk assesses the overall level of uncertainty or volatility associated with an investments potential returns. This painting refers to the light spectrum which includes the rainbow colors. Therefore, the colors in this painting are primary hue such as red, yellow, blue, and green. Beside of that, the painting also has black and white colors. However, the main color of this painting is a white color. That is why, in this painting, the white color goes and cross through other colors on the canvas, the way Jackson Pollock drew is expressing the moving of white light. This blend of colors helps everyone to see the dazzling white light. On the other word, it means that there will be a white light to brighten up our darker days. That is why I can see the value of this painting is really closed because it looks beauty and peace. Jackson Pollock did not use the brush to draw the lines or created any shape for his painting and used the dripping technique to draw his painting. That is why, if we look at this painting for the first time, we can t imagine what the painting means because it does not have any shapes or lines. It also has lines and shapes overlapping and do not follow a directed way. Although the painting does not have exactly shape and line, it still the most dominant element because it performs the way of the white lights goes. Salinger, Holden Caulfield struggles to leave the real world around him which he constantly fails to fit in. He is expelled from three schools before going to Pencey. He then leaves Pencey for New York before Christmas. After experiencing the coldness of society in New York, He decides to hitchhike to the West alone, escaping the society and leaving his family behind. Instead, he chooses to dream about living in the fantasy world in his mind where all things he resists do not exist. Among those things he resists in the real world, the phoniness of adults, the unavoidable loss of children s innocence and his unbreakable bond with his family are the most significant ones that schedule Holden s canceled departure. Holden is unwilling to get along with phonies at his schools. When Holden explains the reason why he leaves Elkton Hills School to Mr. Spencer, he gives an example: For instance, they had this headmaster, Mr. Haas, that was the phoniest bastard I ever met in my life (Salinger 17). Holden finally drops out of Elkton Hills because of the phoniness of his headmaster even though Holden has no direct contact with him. • 9. Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability or tendency to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray Shelley s own views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own lives. However, it asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley demonstrates this idea by using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is reflected through his choice of writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when Shelley experienced significant life changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first child to Mary Shelley, in the same year Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of the changes happening during 1816 which was named, The year without a summer due to extreme changes in weather. During his trip to Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began to create works to reflect this time of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being exposed to so much change during 1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to demonstrate the human ability to accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented. ... All of these factors spurred the creation of labor unions during the 19th century. Some of the working stipulations that this union imposed were elimination of convict labor competition, eight hour workdays, guarantee of salaries, and the use of paper currency. They also wanted equal pay for both men and women, which was a first during those times. A big achievement for the Knights of Labor was keeping children under fourteen out of the workforce. The Preamble to the Constitution of the Knights of Labor stated that, The prohibition of the employment of children in workshops, mines, and factories before attaining their fourteenth year. • 43. Euthanasi The Complex Role Of The Physician With Physician... The theoretical aim of this thesis is to introduce euthanasia, the complex role of the physician with physician assisted suicide (PAS) under the argument that it is not an issue of passive or active. This option could give the family, as well as the patient, the possibility to say goodbye before the disease has removed autonomy and personality. This patient s family would not have to watch their daughter, wife, sister, or mother suffer greatly to the point she screams for God to take her. In support of James Rachel s belief that withholding PAS in a suffering patient is the equivalent to endorsing more suffering, I refute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
