The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace
The Importance of Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society
(Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity by
maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and gender.
This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication can be
challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading to
conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel that
individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees may
feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000). Promoting
cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the organization must
also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even incentives to truly cultivate a
positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012). With all the time, money, and
effort necessary to create and maintain a diverse work environment, leaders are left wondering what if
any, benefits can be gained by promoting cultural diversity.
Research indicates that there are several valuable assets to fostering cultural diversity in the
workplace. Firstly, the makeup of the labor pool is changing. There has been a steady increase

The Development Of Self Regulation Amongst Children
The development of self regulation amongst children is complex and influenced by a large number of
factors such as attunement, family routine, language development, and social interaction, to name just
a few (Kopp, 1982). Given these factors are likely influenced by early parent child interactions, and
since it s widely known that culture influences parental values and beliefs, one can expect to notice a
large difference when comparing parental styles between two contrasting cultures, such as Japan and
the United States. Furthermore, it would be expected to find a difference in the development of self
regulation between Japanese and American children.
Why is Amae important? Amae is a Japanese word lacking an English equivalent, however, in short, is
defined as passive love and is often used when describing the most important relationship in Japanese
culture: the parent child relationship (Doi, 1973, p. 18). The concept is very much hierarchical and the
verb form, amaeru means to seek to fill the desire to be taken care of by someone of authority (Doi,
1973, p. 29). Though the concept of amae is not exclusive to Japanese culture, Japanese is the only
language to have a word for it (Doi, 1973, p. 18). Amae is important to understand because it s at the
core of Japanese culture, and is an essential part to the Japanese definition of love, extending beyond
the mother child relationship and being valued and accepted in any type of adult relationships (Doi,
1973, p. 21).

Essay Arguments for Environmental Conservation
Response 3: Arguments for Environmental Conservation Since the beginning of civilization humanity
has adopted a subjugating stance toward nature. Ecological exploitation has become the de facto
standard, contributing to the illusion of self subsistence provided by modern society. This mindset is
untenable given humanities reliance on the natural world, as best demonstrated by the critical
importance of various parts of the environment to humanities continued existence. This includes the
importance of biodiversity to medicinal advancement and climate adaptation, the role of insects in the
renewal of the biosphere, and the importance of the environment for humanities psychological health.
A huge number of modern medicines are derived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(31) In addition, biodiversity will be crucial for humanities continued survival in the case of climate
change or widespread crop failures. The majority of people on earth are reliant on four crops for
subsistence; wheat, rice, corn, and millet. (11) These crops are threatened by climate change and the
spread of disease facilitated by modern transportation. If humanity is to survive such an eventuality it
must be ready to draw upon the earth s biodiversity for replacements. And while there are
approximately 50 thousand plant species that could offer alternatives, this bank of resources is quickly
thinning as various ecosystems are being destroyed. (11) Other services nature provides are more
easily taken for granted. We depend on plant life to replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere, and on
insects to replace nutrients in the soil. (31) These insects are especially vital, as they are part of the
foundation of nearly all ecosystems. Without insects, plant species that rely on them for pollination
would quickly become extinct, including many of the species we rely on for food. Following them
would be species that feed on insects, as well as species which rely on vegetation as part of their
habitats. Finally, as insects make the prime contribution to soil renewal, even non insect pollinated
plant life would begin to decline. (34) The result, according to Wilson, would

The Importance Of Experiential Learning
Experiential learning is a unique form of learning that allows you to learn through first hand
experience outside of the classroom using skills, knowledge, and experience. It can happen through
internships, studies abroad, field trips and research, and service learning projects. This type of learning
is when a student can apply their own knowledge to real world problems rather than a made up
problem by a teacher. David A. Kolb made this concept popular by stating that its base on learning
which is a process where knowledge is created through transforming experiences. It has a cycle that
does more than just learning it, it allows you to experience it, then reflect it, then conceptualize it, and
then experiment. Experiential learning is important for business students to learn experientially
because of all the elements that are taught doing the task. The reflection, conceptualize, and
experiment allows students to further engage in various different way such as creatively, emotionally,
intellectually, and physically. This creates students to become more motivated to learn. This
motivation to learn is then reflected in how they apply the content to experiential learning and gives
them opportunities. The reflection that the business students have after experiential learned helps
better prepared them for the future. The reflections create deeper learning that can help at internships
or work because they ll be better and more important when the students are prepared and

How Does Marie Curie Affect Society
Marie Curie s Effects on Today s Society Marie Curie once said I was taught that the way of progress
was neither swift nor easy. Throughout her life, she was to learn this lesson over and over again.
Despite the many obstacles standing in her way, she made incredible progress in numerous fields and
shook the world, not to mention the scientific community, to its very core. In 1896, Henri Becquerel
observed some rays of unknown nature (Madame Curie, p. 153) radiating off of uranium salts. Marie,
fascinated by these rays, took to studying this interesting phenomenon herself. As a result of these
studies, she discovered an entirely new field of science, and coined the term Radioactivity. She also
discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. This lead to the discoveries of new elements by
other scientists. The next year, 1899, André Debierne discovered actinium. In just a few more years,
there became a global race to element discovery. It was a fruitful pursuit, to which we owe
mesothorium, radiothorium, ionium, protactinium, and radio lead. (Madame Curie, p.194) The
discoveries of these new elements led to our knowledge of science to change in new and dramatic
ways. A lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two American scientists brought to her attention the fact that radium emitted small amounts of helium
gas. They published a paper on what they called The Theory of Radioactive Transformation. At the
time, scientists believed that atoms were constant and unchangeable. But the two American scientists,
Ramsay and Soddy, demonstrated that Radio elements, even when they seemed to be unchangeable,
were in a state of spontaneous evolution... (Madame Curie, p.195) This changed everything.
Textbooks were rewritten, old theories and hypotheses revised or destroyed, to fit this new truth:
atoms and elements underwent The transmutation of simple bodies, as Pierre Curie, Marie s husband,

The Relational Model For Data Storage
Abstract
The relational model, which uses predefined tabular relations to store data, has remained the
preeminent model for data storage since it was first implemented in the early 1980s. However, due to
the proliferation of the Internet, today data flows in and out of organizations quickly, and most of this
data is in a semi structured state that is designed for communication over http. It is difficult to fit this
complex data into a flat two dimensional array. For that reason, it is imperative that companies have
the ability to store data in a semi structured format compatible with modern network communications
as well as various platforms and devices. The market has realized this and responded with document
stores that support formats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the proliferation of the Internet in the late twentieth century has changed the database
landscape rapidly and drastically.
Today, interconnected networks around the globe stream data to a profusion of devices that range from
powerful mainframe supercomputers, and massive grids of commodity machines to smartphones and
tiny single board computers embedded in home appliances. Most of the flow of data is done through
the Internet or over other large TCP/IP networks that utilize HTTP communications. For that reason,
most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed not for storage in a relational database,
but for communication over HTTP. This data often arrives and leaves in a voluminous stream. It is
therefore difficult for organizations to convert the data quickly to and from a format that is conforms
to the rigid tabular structure of a relational schema.
Support for semi structured data is integral to the collection and storage of data in the Internet age.
While the relational model is sill a good long term storage solution, organizations must be able to
store and query semi structured data that is in a format compatible with HTTP communication because
almost all modern devices use this medium of communication. While XML can serve as a solution to
this problem, JSON, a condensed format that is based on the well known JavaScript language, has
many benefits over XML which I will

Bad Grades Equals No Driver’s License
Bad Grades Equals No Driver s License: Bad Policy Imagine if you were in high school and you
weren t the brightest student, which resulted in bad grades, and then there was a policy made where
you couldn t even get your driver s license until your grades got up and stayed up. This is a policy that
is being debated on by some legislators who think it s a good policy and some who don t think it s
such a good policy. I would be siding with the legislators who don t think it s a good policy. It s not a
good policy because I feel like it s not really the legislators place. Also, students would be getting
good grades for the wrong reasons. Lastly, someone s academic in school doesn t have anything to do
with the ability to drive. Legislators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statistic proves how not many students are doing as good, considering the majority of them
scored below basics . However, if we were to pass the policy then the score would most likely rise
because students would be working harder in school and doing what they need to do. It could possibly
give the student a better comprehension level and decision making level, so when they do begin
driving the people around them along with themselves will be safer. However, their argument would
be invalid considering that students grades/ intelligence level and their driving skills don t have
anything to do with the other. If students are getting good grades in school it doesn t necessarily mean
that their driving skills are going to be equal with the intelligence level. Besides, in an article it reads
that, The mean grade point average for female high school graduates was 3.10 in 2009, .33 higher than
the average GPA for young women in 1990. The average GPA for male high school graduates over the
same period rose .31 points to 2.90. and that, Some say this means American high schools are
churning out smarter, harder working students. ( U.S. News). This evidence proves that the policy that
students should have good grades before they can receive their license is unnecessary because students
are already doing better grade wise. I can t say myself for a fact that teens

U.s. Healthcare Systems Of The United States
U.S. Healthcare Systems
The United States has a broad history of diversity and challenges that no other country has faced. One
of those challenges has been providing healthcare for its citizens. Healthcare in the United States
started out with many religious groups that wanted to help those in need. This form of care for the
people of this country has grown to a healthcare system that accounts for 3.2 trillion dollars of the
nation s gross domestic products (CMS (2016). This staggering number has grown each year and
clearly shows the impact that it can have on the economy. As the years have passed by, so has the
political landscape. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama
on March 23, 2010 with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patient s diets have changed over the last 100 years and have created a large increase in chronic
illnesses and higher needs for medical care. This demand has created the need for a much greater
system of healthcare that includes hospitals, providers, and insurance companies. Over the years, there
have been a lot of changes to improve healthcare. With all of the spending and advancements in health
care, the United States is still very behind in health care costs compared to other countries in the
world. According to Stoltzfus Pollack (2016) the median household income in the United States in
2014 was $53,657,10 so the average household with a median income would have spent almost 46
percent of its income on health care were costs and income evenly distributed across the population.
These numbers are staggering in comparison to other countries and even worse put the United States
at the bottom of the list for healthy countries. These numbers have all proven the overall impact that
the U.S health care system has on the economy. In 2017, Current President Donald Trump vowed to
make a major change to the ACA that had been placed into law seven years ago. During this period
when Republicans tried to tally the votes needed to make changes the U.S stock markets projected the
uncertainty of the votes. These numbers represented by the U.S economy projected just how big of an
impact the health care system can have on the economy.

Irene Williams Suicide
Yesterday, my father took me to the flat of Irene Williams. It was a beautiful little place, with big
windows looking out upon the busy street. She had lace curtains, a small pink couch made of velvet,
and a birch coffee table. On the table was a jar full of biscuits and a cup of tea, still hot. She had
pictures of friends, family, and relatives hung up on her walls. It s a shame I never got to meet Irene,
she seems like such a lovely person to talk to. But Irene Williams is dead, and let s face it, dead people
are boring to talk to. They never listen.
SUICIDE? I exclaimed. The eyes of my father and investigator Christensen fell upon me, burning
holes through my flesh. Yes Sherlock, suicide. Father said. My older brother Mycroft kicked me under

By 1687, he had theorized that gravity was a force that could hold objects, such as the moon, in orbit
around the Earth, and he worked out equations to prove it (Challenging Limits). He then calculated the
laws of motion that held the planets in their orbits around the sun. Along with his research, he
invented calculus, the method for working out the speed of an object at any given moment during its
path. By the 20th century, scientist could demonstrate atoms and the tiny charged particles they
contained called electrons. The electrons are virtually invisible, but Leeuwenhoek used them from an
electron microscope that magnified ten million times. Allowing future scientist to develop the MRI

discovery of atoms and their electrons, a physicist by the name of Albert Einstein formulated the

our greatest repository of energy. Scientist began to ask if they themselves, if we could split atoms,
could we release the new, limitless supply of energy (Challenging Limits)? Soon, scientist did split
atoms that released massive surges of energy, but also produced lethal radioactivity. This
groundbreaking discovery provided a possible solution to what created the

American Culture In Kenya
Kenya is located in southern Africa and included as one of countries in the Horn of Africa. The word
Kenya brings to mind African safaris with elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, and rhinoceros roaming the
Serengeti with the sun setting on the horizon, great running athletes, beautifully carved masks, and
ethnic people dressed in bright costumes while engaged in chants and dance to the beat of African
drums. It presents itself as picturesque, happy, peaceful, and one can almost hear the music from The
Lion King. Some of that is very true; however, Kenya has some complex interactions taking place and

The Maasai and Samburu have remained two of the few cohesive and culturally authentic ethnic tribes
of Kenya and have resisted any type of modernization (Kenya tribes 2015). These two tribes, in
particular, attract tourists because of their authenticity. In Kenya, there are many different tribes, each
with different beliefs and cultural values (Guide to Kenya etiquette, customs, culture, and business,
2014). In order to flourish as a nation, all of these various tribes with their own set of traditions and
values are brought together, or integrated, to form a new, multicultural society (What does integration
mean and why is it important, 2010). The symbolism of Kenya lies in the power of its flag. The flag
represents unity among the people of the country and strength as a whole.
The Kenyan flag has three horizontal stripes red, black and green separated by thin white bands. The
black symbolizes the people of Kenya, the red stands for the blood shed in the fight for independence,
and the green symbolizes agriculture. In the center of the flag is a red shield with black and white
markings and two crossed spears, which stands for vigilance in the defense of freedom. (Stanford,

Moonrise Kingdom Analysis
The film, Moonrise Kingdom, follows the story of two 12 year olds in New England, Sam and Suzy,
who run away together to an island in order to pursue their loving relationship. A search party for the
pair ensues before chaos can erupt due to an oncoming storm.
A theme throughout the movie that stood out to me was the contrast of child fantasy and reality. Suzy
and Sam both suffer with dysfunctional and loveless relationships, Sam being an orphan, and Suzy
struggling with feeling accepted in her family, and surrounded by parents that do not love each other.
In order to escape their hardships, they turn to running away together. They form their idea of paradise
in doing this, being able to disregard their family situations, and create a bond that they would have
otherwise never had with anybody else before. I found the idea of the cove they run away together to,
and the techniques Anderson combines with it, a very interesting concept. The cove is supposed to be
a symbol of perfection and familiarity for the young lovers, but Anderson uses the impending storm to
show that love, even in its purest form, is never flawless. I found this very intriguing, and thought
provoking since a lot of people do describe love as perfect, and that being in love is the best time of
your life. I noticed, in order to emphasise his point, Anderson used dark clouds and grey skies while
they were on their paradise island, whereas typical romance movies would have bright blue, sunshine

Whole Foods Market Overview
Whole Foods Market Background Whole Foods Market is an American based retail chain grocery
store. They strictly sell both natural and organic food, offering a variety of products. Natural refers to
food that is free of growth hormones or antibiotics, while certified organic food must meet the
standards of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer in
the natural and organic foods, with 193 stores in 31 states, Canada, and the United Kingdom. With
Whole Foods Market being the first retailer in the business, they never really had to worry about
competition. However, with the trends changing and people wanting to eat healthier and have healthier
lifestyles, the popularity of the natural and organic products have increased. This means that Whole
Foods Market s competition is growing because different stores are catering to the consumers wants.
So, since Whole Foods Market is the leading market retailer, how are they going to continue to grow
in an increasingly competitive market? This question can be simply answered: they will be able to
continue to grow because of their strategic plan.
Combating an Increasing Competitive Market A strategic plan will basically layout the goals and the
general direction of what the company wants to accomplish. A great way to analyze a strategic plan is
a strategic audit. A strategic audit is a checklist of questions about a certain aspect of the company or

North Vietnamese defense forces were expected to be quite active because covert operations were
being carried out by boats out of Danang, South Vietnam under Operations Plan 34A (OPLAN 34A).
These OPLA 34A raiders attacked the North Vietnamese islands of Hon Me and Hon Ngu during the
first hours of July 31. The Maddox was aware of these covert operations, but did not plan its route
based on them. During the afternoon of August 2, three North Vietnamese torpedo boats from the

Maddox left the Gulf of Tonkin afterwards, but returned on August 3, with the USS Turner Joy, as
they were heading away from the North Vietnamese coastline they believed they were being attacked,

appeared on the radar were ghost images, while others believe that they were actual torpedo boats

Analysis Of Christopher ColumbusWhen Worlds Collide
When Worlds Collide
The title When Worlds Collide refers to the interaction between the Natives from the New World and
the explorers from the old world. Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who was sponsored by
Spain, attempted to find a faster route to India. Columbus didn t find what he was looking for, and was
unaware that he had found a New World that pathed the way for exploration of the America s.
Columbus never found out what he had discovered, and died thinking he had found a route to India.
Columbus discovery would lead to the exploration of the new world and would force interaction
between the people of the old world and the natives of the new world. They would exchange things
like animals and food but would also exchange things like diseases that were detrimental to the native
population.
The natives changed the European diet with their introduction of tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and
most of all the potato. These foods would revolutionize the diet of not only the Europeans, but the
entire world. In return for the natives contribution to the Europeans, Columbus would return with old
world goods such as cows, horses, and swine. They also brought foods like wheat, sugar, rice, and
coffee. Although many of the things brought over were beneficial, there were some bad things that
were traded. These things seemed to have the largest effect. People from the old world brought over
many diseases including, smallpox, measles, bubonic plague, influenza, typhus,

Perspective Of Panchali
New Perspective of Panchali in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s The Palace of Illusion
Abstract: In The Palace of Illusion, Divakaruni portrays Panchali as a bold, powerful and independent
woman, an equal to the men and not subservient. She presents Panchali s life as a series of choices
made by her and giving her a voice in the overwhelmingly patriarchal society that was ancient India.
Divakaruni interprets the epic Mahabharat which provides a complete narrative. She gives a stronger
role to the women of the story, and portrays them as equals in society. This paper aims at the new
perspective given to Panchali by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Draupadi has been portrayed mostly
negatively in Hindu society in India and we will fail to find girls being named after her. Many believe
that it was her headstrong actions that brought about the destruction of the Third Age of Man. She is
known to be a kritya one who brings doom to her clan. But Divakaruni moves away from such
interpretations to provide a new outlook of Panchali.
Key words: Perspective View point, Patriarchal Relating to a system run by male in society,
Subservient Submissive, Interpretation Explanation, Headstrong Determined.

The Influence Of Playing Soccer
When I was 7 years old I started playing soccer. I played soccer for 3 years before finishing up and

Soccer being a very popular sport played all over the world, where countries from England to Portugal
and having our own New Zealand team all enter the world cup every four years. In 2006 when I was 7

high and easy. Early participation of the sport was influenced by school and was easiest to get
involved in and learn if you like and enjoy the sport or not. My friends from school where a big
influence of me playing the sport as I would play the sport with them and then we continued playing
the sport after the first season. My best friend at the time, Blake was a big influence on me moving

influence that affect my participation of joining club soccer was that the sports grounds (Park Island)

Goal Cash Management
)
The of goal cash management is to minimize the amount of cash the business must hold to conduct its
normal activities while having sufficient cash on hand to support operations (Gapenski, L. C., Reiter,
K. L., 2016, p 601). Short term investments may offer minimal returns but cash offers zero. The point
is to get the most return on funds and have only the minimum cash on hand.
Float is the difference between the balance sheet on a business s checkbook and the balance shown on
the bank s books (p 602). This difference is due to the delay in processing of the checks written or the
checks received. Receipt accelerations are processes to increase the speed of processing check
payments. Two examples are lockboxes and automated clearing houses (p 603). Lockboxes are
regional post office boxes where payments are sent and geographically processed to decrease delays in
transit. Lockboxes can increase the availability of funds by 1 3 days. Automated clearing house is a
communication network that send data from one bank to another. This allows immediate electronic
transfer of funds instead of paper checks (p 604).
Distribution control is controlling the outflow of cash. This control is limited by ethical issues in the
delay of payments and the potential loss of timely payment discounts. One method to control
distribution is a zero balance account. A zero balance account is a bank account have a zero balance.

these, I was raised in a small midwestern town with seemingly very little to do; however, this small
town has helped shape who I am today. Hometowns can provide many meaningful experiences
important to one s development and that is what Smithton, Illinois has done for me. I believe that my
hometown of Smithton, Illinois played a vital role in helping me develop my sense of creativity.
Living in a neighborhood outside of town I often ran out of things to do, but luckily my best friend
lived up the street. We were young, creative, and a little reckless which led to a lot of fun. Directly
behind my house were the woods, a ceaseless amount of trees, brush, and bugs. After walking and
exploring for a few minutes, the trees eventually diverge and there is a humongous downhill path. My
bestfriend and I saw this hill has a great opportunity; soon, we had a mission to build ramps so we
could jump over a monstrous brush pile at the bottom of the hill. We spent plenty of time seeking
action and trouble as the adrenaline junkie kids we were. Nevertheless, living in a small town means
you have plenty of boundaries and a finite number of opportunities. For this reason we soon grew

Progesterone
Progesterone is a steroid hormone that belongs to a group of sex hormones called progestogen. It is
secreted primarily by the placenta (during pregnancy), the corpus luteum and adrenal glands. The
corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is produced in a female body after ovulation and is
involved in the early stages of pregnancy. If the eggs are not fertilised, the corpus luteum reverts to a
corpus albicans and menstruation takes place. If the egg is fertilized, then progesterone is secreted by
the placenta.
Progesterone has the chemical formula of C21H30O2. Progesterone is composed of three 6 carbon
rings and one 5 carbon ring fused together, satisfying the the structure of a steroid. It contains two
ketone groups as well as an alkene group and is a hydrophobic molecule. Progesterone s main function
is to prepare the lining of the uterus to accept a fertilized egg and allow for further development into a
fetus. During pregnancy, progesterone allows for the development of the milk producing glands in the
breasts. Progesterone is also a neurosteroid that allows for normal brain function. It protects the brain
from damage and stimulates repair after injury. Some other functions include raising the epidermal
growth factor , normalizing blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, progesterone will only carry out its function if the cell contains the intracellular
progesterone receptor. These receptors are embedded in the cytoplasm. The progesterone and the
progesterone receptor form a covalent bond creating a single unit called a dimer. The dimer then
enters the nucleus and binds to the DNA which stimulates the writing of genes and creates RNA that
are specific to progesterone. The RNA that was formed is transformed into new protein. This entire
process changes the metabolic character of the cell allowing for the cell to carry out tasks specific to
the progesterone

The Awakening Analysis
Sacrifices can define one s character; the definition can either be the highest dignity or the lowest
degradation of the value of one s life. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin implicitly conveys the sacrifice
Edna Pontellier makes in the life which provides insight of her character and attributions to her
awakening. She sacrificed her past of a lively and youthful life and compressed it to a domestic and
reserved lifestyle of housewife picturesque. However, she meets multiple acquaintances who help her
express her dreams and true identity. Mrs. Pontellier s sacrifice established her awakening to be
defiant and drift away from the societal role of an obedient mother, as well as, highlighting the
difference between society s expectations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Robert Lebrun, who gives her all the affection and attention she wants, makes her feel
and act like how she was before she was married. As a result, she starts to disregard her husband and
his commands. Such as in the event, when Mr. Pontellier commanded her to come inside the house
after a long night. However, Mrs. Pontellier disobeyed him and stayed outside. She would, through
habit, have yielded to his desire; not with any sense of submission or obedience to his compelling
wishes, but unthinkingly, as we walk, move, sit, stand, go through the daily treadmill of the life which
has been portioned out to us (Chopin 40). At this stage of Mrs. Pontellier greatly values the kind of
freedom she had before marriage. Her newly oppression towards her husband exhibits the defiance of
women towards men. Chopin meant to show Mrs. Pontellier as an outsider of society, in order to
spread the image of women, who can make their own decisions. After returning from vacation, Edna is
a changed woman. When her husband and children are gone, she moves out of the house and purses
her own ambitions. She starts painting and feeling happier. There were days when she was very happy
without knowing why. She was happy to be alive and breathing when her whole being seemed to be
one with the sunlight, the color, the odors, the luxuriant warmth of some perfect Southern day (Chopin
69). Her sacrifice greatly contributed to her disobedient actions.

Disadvantages Of Software Development
It is a working method. It allows two developers work together on the same piece of code, or work on
the same workstation at the same time. When a developer is editing the code and the other developer
can examine the code. The developer who is editing the code called Driver , another developer called
Observer . In fact, two developers often change roles. In pair programming, Observer considers the
direction of the work, make suggestions about improvement, or problems that may arise in the future.
This allows the driver to focus their attention on completing the task.
Advantage:
1. Programmer can help each other, learn from each other, meanwhile you may solve problems more
easily. This method improves not only work effectively but also programming environment.
2. Improve the quality of the code and because there are two developers work together, it reduces the
bugs.

Latin Pop Research Paper
Upon a first glance at the Latin pop Wikipedia page, it was apparent that it required further
information than the current present three paragraphs it contained. Reading the entry left me as a
reader with more questions than answers. Researching the genre of Latin pop broadly and as well as
closely, it was evident that the entry required necessary improvements by providing additional
material concerning and supporting the leading section, the history as well as the influences and
section of development. The entry needed a further explanation of the true aspect of the genre of Latin
pop that goes beyond the fairly recent information easily found in a five second internet search. The
leading section of the Latin pop page presented a conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first time inserting key words in the search engine such as Latin pop and origin of Latin pop
nothing helpful was displayed. Information based on Grammy Latin American artist winners for
certain years was abundant in the links that were brought up after hitting the enter button. Different
key words I used were development of Latin pop, elements of Latin pop and the evolution of Latin
pop that helped refine the research in terms of finding helpful information on the topic. The databases
that provided the most material on Latin pop were Credo, Newsstand and Gale Academic. I looked at
a few different encyclopedias that included the Oxford Music online and the Encyclopedia of Latin
American Popular Music as well as other different Latin music encyclopedias. The Olin library was
also a helpful tool in providing an actual book on the history of Latin music that covered Latin pop.
The Latin Beat provided information on artists who contributed the most to Latin pop music. It held
material concerning to history as well as recent developments of the genre. I was also able to use as a
resource our class anthology book, the book had a belief paragraph on Latin

Characteristics Of Machiavelli
To be an efficient ruler they must possess the ability to project beast like attitude, with this correlated
with this is the justification of a ruler for breaking his word, this idea only applies if doing otherwise
will place a ruler at a disadvantage within his society. These two characteristics are inevitable and
imperative to rulers if they hope to be successful. For a ruler, presentation is key to leading a
successful society. They must learn to be Half man, half beast. Machiavelli points this out in The
Prince through an allegory, Chiron is a centaur who was a teacher to other princes. He demonstrated
the need for rulers to develop both characteristics, that of a man and beast. This idea is essential
because Machiavelli thought of men by nature as deceptive liars, who would take advantage of a ruler
and his power if they sensed a submissive attitude (P.54). This could be a consequence of not
exhibiting that beast like quality, which could later place not only the ruler, but society as a whole at a
disadvantage.
Isaiah Berlin, author of the article A Special Supplement: The Question of Machiavelli , further
justifies this concept by explaining: The pagan world that Machiavelli prefers is built on recognition
of the need for systematic guile and force by rulers, and he seems to think it natural and not at all
exceptional or morally agonizing that they should employ these weapons wherever they are needed
(P.35). Because the book was written in the 16th century when

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy
How are sound waves useful in medical technology to solve our inability to see and treat medical
conditions inside the human body?
Sound waves have played a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
Clinical examination alone isn t enough to diagnose certain medical presentations. Ultrasound enables
us to look beneath the skin at internal organs and pathological conditions. Ultrasound therapy, more
precisely know as extracorporeal shock wave therapy, is used for treating, rather than diagnosing,
medical conditions.
In diagnostic ultrasound examinations, very high frequency (1 to 5 megahertz) sound waves are
directed at the body s internal structures from a probe placed in contact with the skin (Ultrasound

doing the scan. Some examinations may require preparation for example fasting or a full bladder.

Donald Trump Bellwether Of America
For the sake of the United States and for the rest of the world Donald Trump should not rise to
presidency. It is certain that any other known candidate could perform the job better, and will live up
to the responsibility. Furthermore, a better candidate can persuade people without insulting the people
of our beloved country. Donald Trump verbalizes in his campaign, Make America great again, but that
is implying America is not great already. It is one of the reasons Donald Trump should not become the
herald of America. Why should he become the bellwether of a nation he doesn t believe is great? Why
not express his ideas on how to make the United States the most prominent?
Along with believing our country isn t great, he shows no emotion

Appraisal Of Thatcherism Essay
Economics are the method; the object is to change the heart and soul (Thathcer, 1981). Margaret
Thatcher is undoubtedly one of the most renowned individuals in British history. Initially the first
woman to be elected as party leader, who entered 10 Downing Street as the Prime Minister. Secondly
her revolutionary policies and solid capitalist ideology shook Britain. During her sovereignty which
lasted eleven and a half years (May 1979 November 1990), she turned Britain upside down with her

these words on Maggie proved to determine the future of the whole country. The following years
Margaret worked herself through Oxford University, where she has started to establish her name in the
political arena. In 1951 Maggie got married to the wealthy businessman Denis Thatcher. Maggie s first
role in the cabinet was Minister of Education and Science, in Heath s government 1970 74. When
Heath lost Tory s control to Labour in 1974, Margaret being relieved from office, used the liberty to
combine her intellect with Keith Joseph and cultivate a thesis regarding the policies should be

the leadership of the Tory party. The victory was elucidated as the will for a change rather then
acceptance and agreement of her political creed and until the election of 1979, Margaret used the time

Malcom X And The Allegory Of The Cave
Education is a life altering event that involves becoming more open minded. When one s horizons are
expanded they begin to understand and view more. The process of becoming knowledgeable through
education can differ from the individual or situation. The overall experience as well can change the
perception. Two passages, Learning to Read by Malcom X and The Allegory of the Cave by Plato both
contain an individual who goes through the path of gaining wisdom. Although both passages contain
similarities involving one going through an experience resulting in the enlightenment of education,
there are several differences in how the acknowledgement is approached and the type of predicament
the individual is in. The situation before the awakening in both passages involves being imprisoned
and living in the mindset of ignorance. Each predicament of one has a huge influence on how the
wisdom is obtained. The prisoner in The Allegory of the Cave has lived inside the cave since early
childhood where his legs and feet were chained to prevent any kind of movement and from turning his
head. (Plato 1). Because the cave dweller was restrained from movement, he was unable to escape
ignorance and was not able to gain knowledge. Malcom X as well was illiterate because African
Americans at that time were not exposed to education. The black race in America was living in
deafness, dumbness, and blindness (Malcom X 1). In order to liberate ignorance and to begin the

Slate Relief Palette Of King Narmer
1. The Egyptians were extremely religious, and their belief in life after death was an important part of
their culture. They believed that, in order for the spirit to live on, the dead person s body had to be
preserved, or mummified, and buried along with supplies of food and drink, tools and utensils, valued
possessions all the things the person had needed or enjoyed on earth. The higher the person s station in
life, the more extensive the preparations for the afterlife. Kings and other weathly persons had
elaborate tombs built. Sculptures and wall paintings in the tombs were also created for use in the next
life.
For more than 2000 years, egypt was one of the richest and most civilized lands in the ancient world.
Much of what we know about this great civilization has been learned from its art and architecture. In
particular, the ruins of tombs and temples have provided a valuable record of Egyptian life. ... Show

Egyptian artists employed for the next 2500 years; primary among these is the Egyptian preference for
descriptive rather than optical representation. The conventional figures offer a composite view of the
human body, with the ruler rigid and formal, while lesser humans display greater movement and a
variety of poses. The palette s narrative imagery is composed in registers without regard for three
dimensional space or setting. Hieroglyphic text explains the palette s subject, which ,unlike most

Animals And Animals Of Animals Essay
Animals are a part of many people s lives, and nowadays many are seen as another family member of
the family. Just like people, beloved pets suffer from illnesses, too, so they need doctors to care for
them as well. Not only do our common house pets need to be well cared for, but the animals that
provide our population with food also need to be healthy, in order to keep the human population
healthy. Veterinarians care for many different kinds of animals, and see to many jobs which benefit the
human population as well and the animals in our world. On an average day, a veterinarian has to
examine, detect, and determine diseases and injuries of animals. They then, treat animals by
prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, and/or performing surgery. Veterinarians also
collect, examine, and analyze body tissue and other body fluids from the animals. They vaccinate
animals against diseases and educate the public about zoonotic diseases. Aside from all of the listed
tasks, and many others, veterinarians also counsel their clients about euthanasia and the deaths of their
beloved pets (O*NET OnLine, 2016). In order to become a veterinarian, one has to first complete the
required, and suggested, courses with good/competitive grades. Courses including biology, chemistry,
anatomy, physiology, zoology, microbiology, animal science, math, humanities, and social science are
typically required and/or suggested for entrance to a veterinary medical college. General biology,

Osama Bin Laden Ideology
Osama Bin Laden was one of the most remarkable terrorist leaders in the world. His tactics of
manipulation and philosophy on his engagement of targets of opportunity was like no other. His
principle of creating an Islamic Empire by taking advantage of Islamic countries was the foundation of
his evil plan to retaliate against The United States. It is important to emphasize the origin on how Bin
Laden came with the idea to attack our Homeland. After the Cold War, the retreat of Russia from
Afghanistan was seen as a victory against the infidels for those who defy their Islamic Religion. This
conflict made Bin Laden to solidify his idea of creating a Holy War against the so called Crusaders,

  • 2. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace The Importance of Cultural Diversity Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society (Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity by maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and gender. This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication can be challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading to conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel that individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees may feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000). Promoting cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the organization must also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even incentives to truly cultivate a positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012). With all the time, money, and effort necessary to create and maintain a diverse work environment, leaders are left wondering what if any, benefits can be gained by promoting cultural diversity. Research indicates that there are several valuable assets to fostering cultural diversity in the workplace. Firstly, the makeup of the labor pool is changing. There has been a steady increase ... • 3. The Development Of Self Regulation Amongst Children The development of self regulation amongst children is complex and influenced by a large number of factors such as attunement, family routine, language development, and social interaction, to name just a few (Kopp, 1982). Given these factors are likely influenced by early parent child interactions, and since it s widely known that culture influences parental values and beliefs, one can expect to notice a large difference when comparing parental styles between two contrasting cultures, such as Japan and the United States. Furthermore, it would be expected to find a difference in the development of self regulation between Japanese and American children. Why is Amae important? Amae is a Japanese word lacking an English equivalent, however, in short, is defined as passive love and is often used when describing the most important relationship in Japanese culture: the parent child relationship (Doi, 1973, p. 18). The concept is very much hierarchical and the verb form, amaeru means to seek to fill the desire to be taken care of by someone of authority (Doi, 1973, p. 29). Though the concept of amae is not exclusive to Japanese culture, Japanese is the only language to have a word for it (Doi, 1973, p. 18). Amae is important to understand because it s at the core of Japanese culture, and is an essential part to the Japanese definition of love, extending beyond the mother child relationship and being valued and accepted in any type of adult relationships (Doi, 1973, p. 21). ... • 4. Essay Arguments for Environmental Conservation Response 3: Arguments for Environmental Conservation Since the beginning of civilization humanity has adopted a subjugating stance toward nature. Ecological exploitation has become the de facto standard, contributing to the illusion of self subsistence provided by modern society. This mindset is untenable given humanities reliance on the natural world, as best demonstrated by the critical importance of various parts of the environment to humanities continued existence. This includes the importance of biodiversity to medicinal advancement and climate adaptation, the role of insects in the renewal of the biosphere, and the importance of the environment for humanities psychological health. A huge number of modern medicines are derived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (31) In addition, biodiversity will be crucial for humanities continued survival in the case of climate change or widespread crop failures. The majority of people on earth are reliant on four crops for subsistence; wheat, rice, corn, and millet. (11) These crops are threatened by climate change and the spread of disease facilitated by modern transportation. If humanity is to survive such an eventuality it must be ready to draw upon the earth s biodiversity for replacements. And while there are approximately 50 thousand plant species that could offer alternatives, this bank of resources is quickly thinning as various ecosystems are being destroyed. (11) Other services nature provides are more easily taken for granted. We depend on plant life to replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere, and on insects to replace nutrients in the soil. (31) These insects are especially vital, as they are part of the foundation of nearly all ecosystems. Without insects, plant species that rely on them for pollination would quickly become extinct, including many of the species we rely on for food. Following them would be species that feed on insects, as well as species which rely on vegetation as part of their habitats. Finally, as insects make the prime contribution to soil renewal, even non insect pollinated plant life would begin to decline. (34) The result, according to Wilson, would ... • 5. The Importance Of Experiential Learning Experiential learning is a unique form of learning that allows you to learn through first hand experience outside of the classroom using skills, knowledge, and experience. It can happen through internships, studies abroad, field trips and research, and service learning projects. This type of learning is when a student can apply their own knowledge to real world problems rather than a made up problem by a teacher. David A. Kolb made this concept popular by stating that its base on learning which is a process where knowledge is created through transforming experiences. It has a cycle that does more than just learning it, it allows you to experience it, then reflect it, then conceptualize it, and then experiment. Experiential learning is important for business students to learn experientially because of all the elements that are taught doing the task. The reflection, conceptualize, and experiment allows students to further engage in various different way such as creatively, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. This creates students to become more motivated to learn. This motivation to learn is then reflected in how they apply the content to experiential learning and gives them opportunities. The reflection that the business students have after experiential learned helps better prepared them for the future. The reflections create deeper learning that can help at internships or work because they ll be better and more important when the students are prepared and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Does Marie Curie Affect Society Marie Curie s Effects on Today s Society Marie Curie once said I was taught that the way of progress was neither swift nor easy. Throughout her life, she was to learn this lesson over and over again. Despite the many obstacles standing in her way, she made incredible progress in numerous fields and shook the world, not to mention the scientific community, to its very core. In 1896, Henri Becquerel observed some rays of unknown nature (Madame Curie, p. 153) radiating off of uranium salts. Marie, fascinated by these rays, took to studying this interesting phenomenon herself. As a result of these studies, she discovered an entirely new field of science, and coined the term Radioactivity. She also discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. This lead to the discoveries of new elements by other scientists. The next year, 1899, André Debierne discovered actinium. In just a few more years, there became a global race to element discovery. It was a fruitful pursuit, to which we owe mesothorium, radiothorium, ionium, protactinium, and radio lead. • 7. The Relational Model For Data Storage Abstract The relational model, which uses predefined tabular relations to store data, has remained the preeminent model for data storage since it was first implemented in the early 1980s. However, due to the proliferation of the Internet, today data flows in and out of organizations quickly, and most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed for communication over http. It is difficult to fit this complex data into a flat two dimensional array. For that reason, it is imperative that companies have the ability to store data in a semi structured format compatible with modern network communications as well as various platforms and devices. The market has realized this and responded with document stores that support formats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the proliferation of the Internet in the late twentieth century has changed the database landscape rapidly and drastically. Today, interconnected networks around the globe stream data to a profusion of devices that range from powerful mainframe supercomputers, and massive grids of commodity machines to smartphones and tiny single board computers embedded in home appliances. Most of the flow of data is done through the Internet or over other large TCP/IP networks that utilize HTTP communications. For that reason, most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed not for storage in a relational database, but for communication over HTTP. This data often arrives and leaves in a voluminous stream. It is therefore difficult for organizations to convert the data quickly to and from a format that is conforms to the rigid tabular structure of a relational schema. Support for semi structured data is integral to the collection and storage of data in the Internet age. While the relational model is sill a good long term storage solution, organizations must be able to store and query semi structured data that is in a format compatible with HTTP communication because almost all modern devices use this medium of communication. While XML can serve as a solution to this problem, JSON, a condensed format that is based on the well known JavaScript language, has many benefits over XML which I will ... • 8. Bad Grades Equals No Driver’s License Bad Grades Equals No Driver s License: Bad Policy Imagine if you were in high school and you weren t the brightest student, which resulted in bad grades, and then there was a policy made where you couldn t even get your driver s license until your grades got up and stayed up. This is a policy that is being debated on by some legislators who think it s a good policy and some who don t think it s such a good policy. I would be siding with the legislators who don t think it s a good policy. It s not a good policy because I feel like it s not really the legislators place. Also, students would be getting good grades for the wrong reasons. Lastly, someone s academic in school doesn t have anything to do with the ability to drive. Legislators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This statistic proves how not many students are doing as good, considering the majority of them scored below basics . However, if we were to pass the policy then the score would most likely rise because students would be working harder in school and doing what they need to do. It could possibly give the student a better comprehension level and decision making level, so when they do begin driving the people around them along with themselves will be safer. However, their argument would be invalid considering that students grades/ intelligence level and their driving skills don t have anything to do with the other. If students are getting good grades in school it doesn t necessarily mean that their driving skills are going to be equal with the intelligence level. Besides, in an article it reads that, The mean grade point average for female high school graduates was 3.10 in 2009, .33 higher than the average GPA for young women in 1990. The average GPA for male high school graduates over the same period rose .31 points to 2.90. and that, Some say this means American high schools are churning out smarter, harder working students. ( U.S. News). This evidence proves that the policy that students should have good grades before they can receive their license is unnecessary because students are already doing better grade wise. • 9. U.s. Healthcare Systems Of The United States U.S. Healthcare Systems The United States has a broad history of diversity and challenges that no other country has faced. One of those challenges has been providing healthcare for its citizens. Healthcare in the United States started out with many religious groups that wanted to help those in need. This form of care for the people of this country has grown to a healthcare system that accounts for 3.2 trillion dollars of the nation s gross domestic products (CMS (2016). This staggering number has grown each year and clearly shows the impact that it can have on the economy. As the years have passed by, so has the political landscape. Patient s diets have changed over the last 100 years and have created a large increase in chronic illnesses and higher needs for medical care. This demand has created the need for a much greater system of healthcare that includes hospitals, providers, and insurance companies. Over the years, there have been a lot of changes to improve healthcare. With all of the spending and advancements in health care, the United States is still very behind in health care costs compared to other countries in the world. According to Stoltzfus Pollack (2016) the median household income in the United States in 2014 was $53,657,10 so the average household with a median income would have spent almost 46 percent of its income on health care were costs and income evenly distributed across the population. These numbers are staggering in comparison to other countries and even worse put the United States at the bottom of the list for healthy countries. These numbers have all proven the overall impact that the U.S health care system has on the economy. In 2017, Current President Donald Trump vowed to make a major change to the ACA that had been placed into law seven years ago. During this period when Republicans tried to tally the votes needed to make changes the U.S stock markets projected the uncertainty of the votes. • 10. Irene Williams Suicide Yesterday, my father took me to the flat of Irene Williams. It was a beautiful little place, with big windows looking out upon the busy street. She had lace curtains, a small pink couch made of velvet, and a birch coffee table. On the table was a jar full of biscuits and a cup of tea, still hot. She had pictures of friends, family, and relatives hung up on her walls. It s a shame I never got to meet Irene, she seems like such a lovely person to talk to. But Irene Williams is dead, and let s face it, dead people are boring to talk to. They never listen. SUICIDE? I exclaimed. Humans have looked from the building blocks of our world to the vast variety of other worlds. The effort and success in advances such as medicine, biology, mathematics, physics and most importantly chemistry, has shown our accomplishments during our existence. Lets take a moment to sit back and dwell on advances in human history that have allowed us to overcome nature. Eventually, humans begin to feel and show the effects of nature on the body. By 1687, he had theorized that gravity was a force that could hold objects, such as the moon, in orbit around the Earth, and he worked out equations to prove it (Challenging Limits). He then calculated the laws of motion that held the planets in their orbits around the sun. Along with his research, he invented calculus, the method for working out the speed of an object at any given moment during its path. By the 20th century, scientist could demonstrate atoms and the tiny charged particles they contained called electrons. The electrons are virtually invisible, but Leeuwenhoek used them from an electron microscope that magnified ten million times. Allowing future scientist to develop the MRI scanner, a precise diagnostic tool used to learn about the work of the brain. In addition to the discovery of atoms and their electrons, a physicist by the name of Albert Einstein formulated the theorem E=mc2. Stating that energy resided in matter itself. With this, scientist learned that atoms are our greatest repository of energy. Scientist began to ask if they themselves, if we could split atoms, could we release the new, limitless supply of energy (Challenging Limits)? Soon, scientist did split atoms that released massive surges of energy, but also produced lethal radioactivity. This groundbreaking discovery provided a possible solution to what created the ... The word Kenya brings to mind African safaris with elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, and rhinoceros roaming the Serengeti with the sun setting on the horizon, great running athletes, beautifully carved masks, and ethnic people dressed in bright costumes while engaged in chants and dance to the beat of African drums. It presents itself as picturesque, happy, peaceful, and one can almost hear the music from The Lion King. In order to flourish as a nation, all of these various tribes with their own set of traditions and values are brought together, or integrated, to form a new, multicultural society (What does integration mean and why is it important, 2010). • 13. Moonrise Kingdom Analysis The film, Moonrise Kingdom, follows the story of two 12 year olds in New England, Sam and Suzy, who run away together to an island in order to pursue their loving relationship. A search party for the pair ensues before chaos can erupt due to an oncoming storm. A theme throughout the movie that stood out to me was the contrast of child fantasy and reality. Suzy and Sam both suffer with dysfunctional and loveless relationships, Sam being an orphan, and Suzy struggling with feeling accepted in her family, and surrounded by parents that do not love each other. In order to escape their hardships, they turn to running away together. They form their idea of paradise in doing this, being able to disregard their family situations, and create a bond that they would have otherwise never had with anybody else before. I found the idea of the cove they run away together to, and the techniques Anderson combines with it, a very interesting concept. The cove is supposed to be a symbol of perfection and familiarity for the young lovers, but Anderson uses the impending storm to show that love, even in its purest form, is never flawless. I found this very intriguing, and thought provoking since a lot of people do describe love as perfect, and that being in love is the best time of your life. I noticed, in order to emphasise his point, Anderson used dark clouds and grey skies while they were on their paradise island, whereas typical romance movies would have bright blue, sunshine filled ... They strictly sell both natural and organic food, offering a variety of products. Natural refers to food that is free of growth hormones or antibiotics, while certified organic food must meet the standards of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer in the natural and organic foods, with 193 stores in 31 states, Canada, and the United Kingdom. With Whole Foods Market being the first retailer in the business, they never really had to worry about competition. However, with the trends changing and people wanting to eat healthier and have healthier lifestyles, the popularity of the natural and organic products have increased. This means that Whole Foods Market s competition is growing because different stores are catering to the consumers wants. So, since Whole Foods Market is the leading market retailer, how are they going to continue to grow in an increasingly competitive market? This question can be simply answered: they will be able to continue to grow because of their strategic plan. Combating an Increasing Competitive Market A strategic plan will basically layout the goals and the general direction of what the company wants to accomplish. She presents Panchali s life as a series of choices made by her and giving her a voice in the overwhelmingly patriarchal society that was ancient India.
