Goodbye Earl
The Dixie Chicks released the song Goodbye Earl in 2000 on their album Fly. The song is structured
to follow what is known in music as a story song, meaning it is narrated in the third person. The story
involves two best friends named Mary Anne and Wanda. The audience hears how they parted ways
after high school and Wanda married a man named Earl who was violent and abused her. Mary Anne
returns to Wanda when she gets hospitalized and they form a plan to kill Earl by poisoning him with
black eyed peas. After he is killed, Mary Anne and Wanda move on with their lives and open a
roadside stand while Earl s death is never investigated. This song downplays domestic violence
through turning the lyrics and music video into satire. The lyrics are catchy and upbeat and the main
vocalist, Natalie Maines, has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows a shift from a song about hard times to a song of celebration. The escape from hard times
begins with decision to kill Earl, but real happiness is found in the friendship and partnership that is
formed between Wanda and Mary Anne though bonding over killing Earl. After describing the murder
scene, the song goes back to the original, slower tempo with only Natalie Maines on the vocals and is
narrated in third person again. Earl s absence from society is made to seem like a good thing through
the verse, it turns out Earl was a missing person who nobody missed at all. Mary Anne and Wanda go
on to open a roadside stand, have a happy, carefree life and they don t lose any sleep at night. Through
this, they have found a way to live within the accepted patriarchal way of life, but outside of the
patriarchal control that caused problems for Wanda in the first place. They have also progressed from
a bad situation involving domestic violence to one of utopia with no

Winn versus Trans World Airlines
Winn v. Trans World Air
There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be
discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it
was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the
military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for
promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First
Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at
for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what
they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt
confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the
10 made it. He was sure one of the names was his. To his disbelief his name was not on it. He was
very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more
competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it.
With research he found out they had not been in as long or had any special assignments, or leadership
time. This was upsetting to know that the military has to promote based on gender and race. I always
thought and believed a company would want

Dbq Cuban Missile Crisis
Justified, righteous, fair, and reasonable. Alike in definition, these words can all be used to describe
the installation of Soviet missiles in Cuba. America had tried to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel
Castro on numerous occasions, the Soviets who were allies with Cuba decided it was time to step in
and support their comrades. In October 1962, a two week matter took place, after an American spy
plane found 40 nuclear missiles installed by the Soviets, in Cuba, the event later became known as the
Cuban Missile Crisis. The Americans did not approve of these Soviet missiles, because they were 90
miles away from their country, but Khrushchev was not satisfied with the U.S. having missiles pointed
at his country either. This led to a small dispute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the U.S planned an attack called the Bay of Pigs, which was one of their tactics to invade
Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Their plan was to train exiled Cubans so that they could be sent to
Cuba in effort to overthrow Castro. ( The Bay of Pigs ).The installation of missiles were to further
prevent any events like this of happening, so it gave the USSR every reason to continue to defend their
ally who was being attacked. On top of that, the Soviets did not even retort in aggression, even though
it would have been reasonable if they did. Why could they have not placed missiles in Cuba if they
decided to not retaliate in violence? Months later, America scheduled Operation Mongoose yet another
tactic to kill Castro. They attempted to have Castro removed, overthrown, and out of office in Cuba,
but did not succeed ( The Bay of Pigs Invasion and Its Aftermath ). After the second time America
tried to overthrow Castro it definitely justified the Soviet storing of missiles. The saying The first time
is a mistake, but the second time is a choice, applies to this situation. Cuba being attacked by the
Americans the first time was kind of like the mistake in the saying but the second attempt of invasion
can be compared to the choice in the saying. The final quote that proves the Soviet missiles were
defensive comes from Khrushchev, we were very grieved...that an attack on Cuba was committed, as a
result of which many Cubans perished. You yourself told me then that this had been a mistake. I
respected that explanation (Khrushchev). A summary of Khrushchev s word is that he responded
kindly to the attempted attacks and did not try to overrun America after their acts of violence, even
though he had the option to do so. The USSR was very fair and calm and reacted well to

Key Theories Of Learning
Learning theories are conceptual frameworks that describe how information is absorbed, processed
and retained during learning. Theories of learning explain how people learn and can help teachers to
understand the meaning of things and review effectively and confidently their practice accordingly
(Wilson,2009). The main theories of learning are behaviourism, cognitivism and humanism.
Behaviourism is based on the idea that people respond to things around them. Behaviour is learned
from things seen around them or from the environment and that learning and ability to learn requires a
change in behaviour. The key figures of behaviourism are P.Pavlov, S.Freud, J.B.Watson, B.F.Skinner.
Cognitivism is based on the idea that learning is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rogers(1959)only when a person is free from frustration and external impositions can
grow and develop ,setting his/her own goals, following universal values, such as honesty, love,
responsibility and autonomy. Rogers idea suggest that an external and objective reality does not exist
and individuals observe the world in their own way, having their own reality and behaving
accordingly to it. He emphasised the relationship between teacher and students, recommending a
climate of respect, trust and empathy. These ideas emphasising that the teacher should always treat
learners as unique individuals and listen to them. Maslow stressed the importance of positive
experience in order to reach autonomy and personal growth. He stated that self actualization requires
an accommodating and enabling environment, responsibility, maturity and achievement of certain
needs in a hierarchical order (Neto,2015).Based on these concepts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs
evolved, that involves Physiological need such as food and shelter, safety needs such as stable and
predictable environment, belonging needs such as affection from family and friends ,esteem needs
such as self confidence and appreciation from others, self actualization needs such as discovering and
fulfilling one s own potential(Eysenck,2004).In my subject specialism, science its

Merryman And Stolen Art Analysis
Introduction The theft of cultural property, referred to as art, has occurred for thousands of years. An
important question therefore arises: what makes something cultural property? John Henry Merryman,
a notable figure in the field of cultural anthropology, defines cultural property as items that have
artistic, ethnographic, archeological, or historical value. (Merryman). Moreover, nations around the
world are looking for the return of cultural property in a process known as art repatriation. Due to the
long history behind stolen cultural property, the international community is seeking out art repatriation
more vehemently than ever, taking into account the ethical implications of art repatriation as well.

First off, a major focal point of anti repatriation argument includes the availability of art to the public.
One of the main goals of a museum is to educate the public on history through primary sources
available at the museum. With art repatriated, the argument can be made that museums will lose their
appeal to the public. In the most drastic cases of repatriation, some museums would eventually evolve
into an educational source similar to a textbook, where there would be no artifacts to view. A counter
argument to this claim is that repatriated art is at times displayed at the local museums of origin.
While this is a completely substantiated argument, the majority of museum goers will most likely not
subject themselves to countless museums visits. Next, research can be more easily conducted on a
central location where several artifacts are located. Museums are designed for people to learn about
cultures from the artifacts that they hold; this learning often times occurs through research. While it is
possible to conduct research at the site where a cultural object was created, museums can be easier to
access and have a larger archive of information and artwork available. Lastly, some assert that art
repatriation only serves nationalistic ambitions. Nations want their people to rally behind them so that
they can have support during tough times. Basically, there is a possibility that a potential political
agenda might exist when art is repatriated back to a home

The Importance Of Communication In Group Communication
Part I
Hello and Good Morning Group Members,
I am messaging to advise you about the urgency for communication among members of the groups
you have been assigned in. Communication amid group members is very crucial because it will insure
smooth flow of activities and ideas that would facilitate the effective completion of the project. It has
come to management s attention of the other groups that there has been little communication
happening in the groups since members were assigned to their specific groups. It is crucial for
members to cease the habit of not communicating with each other and begin to embrace effective
communication with one another.
Effective communication depends on the group members adopting certain communication norms
which include effective tactics, courtesy, and language used in communication. In group
communication norms, for example, members of the group need to understand the role of
communication in the successful completion of the project designated to them. The individual group
members should also acquire critical tact, courtesy and formal language that encourage effective
interpersonal communication strategy. Group members should apply interpersonal communication
strategies that are pertinent to the norms in the workplace group communication.
It is also important for group members to identify and implement the most suitable channels of
communication. I will suggest the use of emails and teleconferencing since they encompass some of
the best and

Birth Control And Reproductive Rights
In the early 1900 s Margaret Sanger revolutionized the lives of women forever by securing the rights
of women to control their own fertility and the rights of a child to be wanted. Today we take birth
control for granted and it is indeed a right that we give little or no thought too therefore It is difficult
to imagine Sangers struggle to introduce birth control and reproductive rights in the U.S.A as being
fraught with controversy and causing her to be pursued as a criminal. The Comstock Act of 1873
meant that by simply providing any information on birth control a person was breaking the law and
risked arrest. This essay aims to show the significance of Margaret Sangers contribution to nursing,
how she created change in the United states as a whole as well as in the nursing profession and the
lasting legacy she has left to nursing. When she received her first major honor, the Medal of
Achievement off the American Women s Association in 1931, the citation recognized that she fought a
battle single handed .. . a pioneer of pioneers ( Holt, Rinehart Winston cited in Wardell, D 1980).
Starting her crusade in 1912 Margaret Sanger created the kind of change that one would often only see
once in a lifetime, the type of change that was so significant that it changed the lives of not only many
in her own lifetime but the lives of millions in future generations. The Comstock Act of 1873 was
without doubt the largest obstacle she would encounter during her reproductive

Summary Of The Lord Is Salvation
His name was Hoshe a ( Salvation ) the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim, but Moses went and
renamed him Yehoshu a ( The Lord is Salvation ) or as in North American cultures traditionally
known as Joshua (Numbers 13:16, NRSV). Joshua is a great leader from the bible he really shows
how being faithful to God will end in complete success for you. I think it important to note, that just
because he is a man in the bible and known as a great leader, Joshua was only human he let doubt
settle in at times and wasn t as some would say super human he had faults just like us and was not
perfect. The book of Joshua is a great example that Yahweh is a promise keeping God even if He
works on His own time and in His own way. For example the Promise land was promised to the
Israelites back in Genesis 15:18 21 where God states: To your descendants I have given this land, from
the river of Egypt as far as the great river the Euphrates. The land of the Kenites, Kenizites,
Kadmonites; the Chitties, Perizites, Refaim; the Emorites, Canaanites, Gigashites and Yevusites.
The main purpose for the book of Joshua is the completion of the promise God made in Genesis 12 50
(Attridge, Harold W., 2006, P.310). To start off the process of the Israelites attaining the profiled
promise of God they cross the Jordan river with Joshua, the rest of the book is set in a desert region as
they journey to the land of Canaan (Joshua 1:2). As far as the social setting of this book the way they

Port Everglades Case Analysis
Imagine being hired as a consultant for the Port Everglades by the management. As a consultant, you
were hired to look at situations that are happening at the port over the past and current year. After
analyzing the port, you have to recommend changes that can improve the Port. Which in the future can
result in the Port being one of the top harbors in Florida that attracts a lot of different businesses and
gain money for the community. To start your new job as a consultant, you have to look at the Harbor s
history and current situation, market forecast, do a SWOT analysis, Horizontal analysis, vertical

For example, to find out how much the company Operating revenue has increase since 2013 the
consultant would have to take the amount of Revenue the company made in 2015 which was
$153,324,384 and divide by the amount the company had in 2013 $ 142,931,312. After doing the
calculation the consultant would have got a ratio of 104.4% of the increase in 2015 since 2013. After
that to find the percent of increase in 2014 which was $153,193,953 then the individual would divide
by the base amount from 2013 $146,824,45 and there would have been a 104.3% increase. The
consultant should include this ratio in their analyzation because it will show how much the Port makes
a year, even though they are under contraction trying to expand their Port. This information would see
if the Port is losing business because of the projects that they are doing on their Port or not. Also,
while doing the Horizontal analyses the advisor should include the Ratio of increase or decrease in the
firm Expenses over the years since the company has to spend money to complete their Projects. To be
able to receive this ratio the individual would take the amount of expenses from both 2015 and 2015
and divide the amount spend in in the year 2013 from these numbers to get the ratio of increase. For

The Tragic Hero Of King Lear
One loss builds on another, but moreover, his greatest loss, and what distinguishes this tragedy from
all others, is his chance of redemption. Unlike other tragedies, there is no salvation for the tragic hero
or any sign of optimism in the conclusion. This bleak portrayal of King Lear, through his losses,
makes him the ultimate tragic hero, and the play an ultimate tragedy.
In every tragedy, of course, there is a tragic hero. A person who has good intentions, but leads the
story to ruin through a fatal, and uncontrollable, flaw. The plot of the book centers around the
consequences of King Lear s flaw. Throughout the play, King Lear loses his land, his honor, his

Lear also puts Kent into exile because of his defense of Cordelia. By the end of the act, he has
removed most of the genuine influences in his court, and replaced them with insincere flatterers. This
starts the tragedy, and reveals Lear s tragic flaw: his narcissism.
An interesting way to approach Lear s character is by examining his relationship to his daughters.
There are no mother figures in the entirety of the play, and no women aside from the king s daughters.
When Lear divides his kingdom, he effectively turns the tables on his relationship with his daughters.
Lear s lost land and authority now transfers to his two daughters, Goneril and Regan, and they
deceitfully use this power against him. Ironically, Lear also falls in status, to a level inferior to that of
his own children. Goneril no longer loves him beyond all manner and Regan no longer is an enemy to
all other joys as they have professed in the beginning (I.i. 61, 73). Instead, Goneril reprimands his
father for the way his servants and knights have infected her home (I.iv.237). Regan follows suit, and
insist that The old man and his people/ Cannot be well bestowed (II.iv.258). His daughters no longer
respect him as their father figure, treating him as a household pest in the very best of situations. This is
the beginning of Lear s other kind of loss: a loss of identity. He has reverted into a more

Increase Of Regulation For Winter Road Maintenance
Increase in Regulation for Winter Road Maintenance Everyone has dealt with an experience where
they are driving down a cleaned road, and all of a sudden, they hit an ice patch. The winter road crews
have been over the roads, but nevertheless, the road is not safe. The lane will be clean. Then, a block
later, it will be covered in ice. In the city of Nampa, this situation tends to be encountered more than
necessary. When someone travels from Canyon County to Ada County, there is a clear distinction
between the levels of care. Roads in Boise are usually better taken care of compared to the morning
traffic in Nampa. The Treasure Valley needs to increase road maintenance in the winter creating more
mandates for care and researching for a better understanding and process for salting and clean up. For
Idaho, statistics show the negative repercussions and dangers of weather related accidents. One study
was completed by the United States Department of Transportation showing how weather relates to car
accident statistics (U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration). In the United
States yearly, about 22% of crashes and 16% of fatalities were based off weather related incidents
such as slick roads and bad conditions (U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway
Administration). Over a ten year study, 33% of weather related accidents were based off of snow,
sleet, and ice conditions (U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration).

The Music Of Bali And Its History, Beliefs, And Values,...
Introduction
Gamelan is a term for various types of orchestra played in Indonesia. As Indonesia entails 17000
islands, there are many different styles of gamelan, and no gamelan orchestra is considered to be the
same as another (See Y S, 2000). The music of Bali a Hindu island afloat in a Muslim sea was
described by the American composer Colin McPhee as the stirring mystery of a thousand bells
(Gordon, 1994). Varieties of gamelan are distinguished through tunings, style, cultural context and the
collection of instruments used. The varieties are generally grouped geographically, with certain styles
being shared by nearby ensembles, therefore leading to a regional style (See Y S, 2000). Balinese
gamelan is the main element of Indonesian traditional music as well as belonging to the sacred
elements of their culture. Throughout the following investigation, the style of Balinese gamelan will

Film Censorship
The influence of media on the individual is always the first concern when a new medium of
entertainment is introduced in society. Whether it be the idea that violent video games instill
aggression in its players, or that exposure to rap music inspires drug use, fear of media s influence has
plagued modern society as new technological advancements inundate Americans lives
overwhelmingly often. This fear, however, is not limited to the current age of smartphones and virtual
reality headsets. When moving pictures first appeared in nickelodeon theaters across the country in the
early twentieth century, it was met with similar reactions. Many individuals believed exposing the
American public to questionable topics such as criminal activity and prostitution would incite in the
audience the desire to replicate the scenes depicted on screen. Among those advocating on behalf of
the moving picture were Charles Sprague Smith and John Collier of the People s Institute. They ...

Inter caste marriage is prohibited in Hindu culture. Caste system only allows the endogamy system.
However, the upper caste men have a freedom to use exogamy and polygamy. Upper caste man is
allowed informal sexual rights to lower caste women but he does not give her a status of the wife
because she is considered as an untouchable and impure. On the contrary, the upper caste woman is
restricted to endogamous marriage and she is tied to the beliefs of wifely devotion. In terms of

Practices are common throughout the world however its impacts are varies. Oppression to Dalits
brings psychological outcomes. It is an internalization of mind reasoning their oppression and they
think that they have to be dehumanized. Humanity has been stolen and upper caste people are able to
oppress them. Dalit humiliation is a paradigmatic experience considering untouchability.
The dehumanizing meaning of this tradition undoubtedly designated that Dalits are worse off than
animals. That is the rejection of human identity. It really breaks the logic of human rights, human

They think that situation is rotating and all actions are predetermined and therefore fate is inevitable.
Upper caste people force a psychological segregation and resetting fated group identity in the society.
That is the dehumanization of Dalit and development of fatalism.

In Gattaca, a film whose roots are firmly planted in the Science Fiction genre, the timeline in which

While this is effective is making us believe that this could be, just around the corner , the society

How Does Sita Portrayed In Ramayana
Chapter 1
Introduction
Sita is the most controversial figure in Indian mythology. Critics are always at war while discussing
her actual character. Some regard her as a Goddess while there are many who consider her as an
oppressed woman bearing the pangs of patriarchy. As she is a mythical figure, not much proof is
available regarding her existence. It was first through the epic Ramayana by Valmiki that we received
information about her character and personality. Myths are not a reliable source as they are ambiguous
and cannot be assigned a single meaning.
You should never assign a meaning to a myth because if you assign a meaning, the mind clamps onto
just that one meaning. Then it s no longer active, because when a story is active it allows for new
beginnings all the time. Don t give meanings to anything...[for] it doesn t ever mean just one ... Show

However, Samhita Arni aims at defying such an opinion. She unleashes another perspective which is
the intermingling of first two perspectives in her graphic novel Sita s Ramayana . She believes that
Sita is a very complicated character and there is a lot more to her when observed deeply. She agrees
that Sita is victimised by the patriarchal society but she rejects the view that considers Sita as a
submissive. Her opinion does not identify Sita only as an ideal , loyal and devoted wife but she also
becomes a subversive and fiery woman as and when the situation demands. According to Samhita and
most feminists, the name Sita itself is synonymous to strength , grace , valour and sacrifice . Sita is the

Summary Of The Dog Of Titwal

Topic: Critically analyse Dog of Titwal in the light of partition literature with respect to the Indian
subcontinent.
The Dog of Titwal written by Saadat Hasan Manto talks about he Kashmir conflict that started after
India and Pakistan got independence. The conflict started on 22nd October, 1947 and is still going on.
In this story, the nature is described in a way that it gives an imagery of peaceful hills of this disputed
area of Kashmir but is a dark area because of ongoing conflicts between India and Pakistan over
Kashmir. It is often said that Kashmir looks like paradise but ironically the most violent and gruesome
activities take place in this place that looks like paradise. The war, mostly in the form of ... Show more

The author also conveys the irrational behavior towards the conflict and unnecessary violence.
The war is shown as boring and stagnant in Dog of Tithwal . The beginning of the story suggests that
this conflict is endless. War has become like a routine for the two countries and a part of the
environment that separating it from the elements of nature has become almost impossible. The air is
described as quite unmindful of the soldiers hiding behind the rocks and camouflaged by mountain
shrubbery. The birds sang as they always had and the flowers were in bloom. Bees buzzed about
lazily.
This suggests that not only the war has become a routine for everyone and a part of the environment
but people have stopped questioning the war and the conflicting activities taking place. Jhun Jhun, the
dog has no say in this conflict and is voiceless just like the Kashmiris have no say in where they
belong, whether they belong to India, Pakistan or want an independent

Csu-Long Beach Thesis
1. Discuss some of your concerns about attending CSU Long Beach.
At the moment my biggest concern is not having the ideal class schedule I have my SOAR orientation
soon, but right now I am not sure what classes I need to take in order to complete my degree. I m also
curious to see how different community college and university are. Will class be different? Moreover,
is the coursework more difficult? I believe there is more pressure to do better now, at CSULB than
there was at community college, since the cost is greater and perhaps professors will expect better.
And well, final concern will be getting lost on campus and arriving late to class. The community
college I attended Pasadena City College was small comparing it to CSULB.

What are your experiences with reading and writing?
I am a first generation American, but due to my family s constant moving between the U.S. and
Mexico, I did not learn English till the age of 10 so around the 5th grade. I was in ESL courses in
middle school. And eventually moved on to regular English in high school and soon enough became
an English honor student. But even then, I experienced great difficulty writing papers, primarily
because I struggled with thesis statements. Reading comprehension is not difficult, especially not,
because I have a tendency of underlining and annotating. Now, after graduating from community
college, I do believe I am a better writer, but I do believe there will always be room for improvement.
6. What are your favorite things to do when you are not in school or working?
If I am not busy with school or work, I like to spend time with my family, friends, and my pet birds.
They are my main support, and I think I owe to them to make time for them. That is in the form of a
dinner, or spending a day at the beach. My hobbies aside from that, will include reading, and going to
concerts or watching old concert footage on the internet from bands like Led Zeppelin, or The

Essay on Cuban Revolution
Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined as
a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being
modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through
destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on
identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s
events, are directed by a hero, have an ideology and belief system, and use symbols or tools to get its
points across to the people. Cuba and its leader today, Fidel Castro, have their own roots in a
revolution that took place only some forty years ago. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All revolutionaries except Castro and his family were massacred. Although this rupture failed, Castro
s movement gained popularity and prestige all over the world. In fact, Castro called the Revolution the
26 of July Movement. Castro himself was caught and sentenced to jail for two years. Between 1955
and 1956, br br Castro went to United States and Mexico looking for supporters and money to fund his
revolution. On December 2, 1956, eighty two men including Castro and the physician Ernesto Che
Guevara, set sail once again for the Oriente on their yacht, the Granma. The campaign was doomed
from the beginning. Nobody could navigate the boat properly, everybody was seasick, most of the
supplies were jettisoned in a storm, and the expedition landed in the wrong place. (Sinclair,15) On one
occasion Guevara followed the wrong star to travel North, and on another, his comrade put the only
the drink they had, milk, upside down in his pocket. By the end of the day the milk was gone. On
December 5 in the battle of Alegría de Pío, Batista s troops killed all of the rebels except twelve.
Among these survivors, coincidentally, were Castro and Guevara. br br Meanwhile, in the cities and
universities, a revolutionary movement was also taking place. The Ortodoxo political party favored a
violent revolution against Batista. Its leader and University of Havana Professor Rafael Bárcena

The War Theory Of War
What is War?
The term war can be defined as a clash that arises between different groups, states or nations.
Different ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, and scarce resources are just a few of many reasons
why such an act of violence may be practiced throughout the world. However, could a war ever be
completely just? And if so, who would be responsible for deeming what would and would not be
considered as being morally and theologically justified? This will be discussed in further detail later
on in this report.
Premise
The Just War Theory states that war can sometimes be permissible if it is satisfactorily evaluated by
the tenets of the theory. I believe that in order for a war to be just , it must always be a result of an act
of self defense against a more powerful and threatening opponent. I also believe that war should
always be considered as being the very last resort in conflict due to its many resulting consequences.
But in such circumstances, who (or what) would determine when war would be permissible?
What is Just?
The term just is difficult to perfectly define as it is ultimately based on one s own perspective.
Different upbringings and backgrounds would influence one s idea of the term just. Therefore, only an
individual who has absolutely no sense of bias would be able to carry out the task of determining
when a war would be considered justified and permissible. However, nobody is ever bias free .
Humans all come from upbringings that influence their

social networking sites
CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW Introduction The Internet is more than just a means of seeking
information. People discovered that the Internet could be used to connect with other people, whether
for business or commercial purpose, make new friends, reawaken old friends and long lost relatives.
The emergence of social networking sites (SNSs) simplify the whole process as majority of them are
free to use, they are easier to use and navigate, because it does not require advanced knowledge and
experience of the internet and are made up of a wide array of different formats and topics; this means
that just about anyone can connect. Currently, there are hundreds of SNSs that can draw millions of

The profile is generated using the answers to these questions, which typically include descriptors such
as age, location, interests, and an about me section. Most sites also encourage users to upload a profile
photo. Some sites allow users to enhance their profiles by adding multimedia content or modifying
their profile s look and feel. Others, such as Facebook, allow users to add modules ( Applications )
that enhance their profile. The visibility of a profile varies by site and according to user discretion. By
default, profiles on Friendster and Tribe.net are crawled by search engines, making them visible to
anyone, regardless of whether or not the viewer has an account. Alternatively, LinkedIn controls what
a viewer may see based on whether she or he has a paid account. Sites like MySpace allow users to
choose whether they want their profile to be public or Friends only. Facebook takes a different
approach by default, users who are part of the same network can view each other s profiles, unless a
profile owner has decided to deny permission to those in their network. Structural variations around
visibility and access are one of the primary ways that SNSs differentiate themselves from each other.
(Boyd, 2006) After joining a social network site, users are prompted to identify others in the system
with whom they have a relationship. The label for these relationships differs depending on the site
popular terms include Friends, Contacts, and Fans.

We Are Not Grizzly Bear Analysis
Liu Method Analysis: We Are Not Grizzly Bears Brian Pattron analyzes that the ideal lifestyle is
veganism, based on the observations of the animal kingdom. Pattron uses an inductive format by
introducing examples, slowly building to his statement. Pattron begins his opening statement with a
question as a hook, What are humans really supposed to eat? (Patton 1). The hook clues the audience
into the subject of the article. He then uses evidence stating the observations of nature, The grizzly
bear an omnivore is fast and strong jawed, with razor sharp teeth (Pattron 1). By presenting his
evidence before his statement, it gives anticipation to his argument. He then introduces his claim,
Based on the logic of the animal kingdom, we are designed to eat plants (Patton 1). The author brings

For instance, Our bodies want to change. (Pattron 2) is a short sentence that is straight to the point in

introduced by the shorter syntax. Pattron relies on imagery and irony to support veganism. In
particular, Pattron states The grizzly bear an omnivore is fast and strong jawed, with razor sharp teeth.
(Patton 2). Pattron appeals to the sense of sight. By describing the bear, it solidifies the fearful image
of the bear s abilities. The author uses irony through the use of sarcasm, Humans are thought to be
omnivores just like the grizzly. Look in the mirror... we re so much alike, aren t we? (Pattron 1). The
use of sarcasm emphasizes the implied meaning that because humans and bears are different, humans

The Decline Of Newspaper Is Bad For The Us Analysis
The age of newspapers has passed. Laura Finley s The Decline of Newspapers Is Bad for the US
asserts that without newspapers citizens are deprived of information essential to understanding their
world . Newspapers are the source at which the world communicates and when they come to a cease,
the information also ceases.
Finley s asserts that Journalist, scholars, and activists worry that, if the trend continues, the US will be
a nation without newspapers , which infers a nation without newspapers could be the downfall to its
government. A democratic government is a government which the people rule but if the people are
uninformed the government is skewed. Finley quotes Thomas Jefferson s opinion on government and
newspapers to give the reader someone to relate to, he is the people s common factor. Thomas
Jefferson once said that, should we have to choose between government without newspapers or
newspapers without government, he would surely favor the newspapers . The newspapers themselves
give the public information so that it can petition, speak, and write when dissatisfied; can vote with
adequate knowledge about the candidates and issues; and can understand their civic duties and ...

The funds that support the newspapers are being cut that pay reliable reporters. Without these reliable
reporters the information that is spread to the public is less dependable. Finley uses a study by
Princeton University that found a decline in candidates willing to challenge incumbents and a decrease
in the number of people voting in local elections as a result of the 2007 closure of the Cincinnati Post .
Princeton s study invokes that the loss of their newspaper created a loss in public knowledge of
voting. This exacerbated decline in readership vastly relies on the fact that people will determine the

Similarities Between Purti And Purusha
Prakrti is the principle of matter. Matter is unconscious (jada). All the evolutes of Prakrti are
unconscious by nature but because Purusha is getting reflected at citta, that reflection makes citta as if
conscious and it starts to function. Next reflection of Purusha is on ahamkar and so ahamkar is
conscious, thus all the body parts are conscious. Purusha can never become one, either with ahamkara
or tanmatras or panchamahabhutas. By nature, it cannot. Philosophically we say Sankhya is
uncompromising dualism, atheistic realism and spiritualistic pluralism. Dualism is two principles.
There is no compromise possible between these two. Neither can Purusha give rise to Prakrti nor
Prakrti to Purusha. They are existing from eternity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One, it discriminates and decides, and second it stores all samskaras / memories. It is called Karma
Shaya. Karmashaya means ashaya of karmas like any time an activity is performed or a deed, an act,
any time the thought / emotion passes the mind along with feeling or getting that experience there is
an impression of that experience carried in one s own self. When one is thirsty, thirst is quenched by
drinking a cold drink. But in the citta the storage takes place that the drink was very nice. This storage
of impression gets accumulated for every act (karma), whether it is a thought crossing the mind, an act
or feeling, whatever happens this storage of impression gets added. The karmashaya increases. E.g.;
every karma has two results, one is the karma phala the thirst was quenched. Phala is immediate but
along with the phala samskara is generated. Samskara is the problem. The samskara is the seed or
source for further action. After a gap of time when one feels thirsty again, the previous drink which
satisfied the thirst is remembered. During the intervening period the drink was not there in the
consciousness, but the moment the circumstances or the situations ripen, immediately the samskara
comes up. The moment the samskaras come up, they fructify into further action. One would like to
have the same drink again. Again, it goes on adding. Thus, one gets continuously entangled in this

[If] you make me the Princess s governess, I ll see what I can do... (177) the little girl asks the

narrator draws attention to gender and age inequality. Overcoming various obstacles, the protagonist
demonstrates her maturity throughout the journey, where she chooses to make decisions for the sake
of the kingdom of Green Land. Saving the kingdom from the unnatural creature, the girl s actions and
maturity serve as a platform in addressing today s public affairs. In the light of these social issues, I
will argue that Nesbit imposes on the themes of voyage and return and coming of age to show how a

Although Matilda is portrayed as a female child heroine, Colin Manlove implies that Nesbit suggests
that the capabilities of female children are underestimated in his journal article entitled Fantasy as
Witty Conceit In this journal article, Manlove critiques that there are two sides of Nesbit the realist
and the supernaturalist ...where magic is given a colloquial and comic face, and is brought into contact
with very human children (126). This implies that the direct audience are those oppressed by society s
double standards, especially female children, and the indirect audience are those who ridicule the
capabilities of the oppressed. The story draws attention to social issues ( realist ) by assimilating
fantasy fiction ( supernaturalist ). In this case, female children are belittled due to their age and gender.
Since gender bias is also an issue, professors, who published the journal article Gender Differences in
Children s Hero Attributions, observe that boys were expected to endorse heroes for their ability to act
on the world (instrumental attributes) and for their wealth or fame (prestige) more than girls (Holub et
al. 569). This alludes that the gender gap does not only apply to adults, but also children. Through
their observations, the professors found that there is an underlying bias towards male heroes over
female heroes

Dissociative Disorders
Dissociative disorders embrace a diversity of symptoms related to alterations in consciousness which
vary from amnesia regarding autobiographical events to distortions in identity and the experience of
reality (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th ed. [DSM V]; American
Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). The nature of dissociative symptoms such as depersonalization,
derealization and absorption has been studied by researchers in a systematic manner during the past
decades. Besides that mild forms of dissociative symptoms are found quite often in general population

In the clinical literature it is very common the distinction between dissociative states and dissociative
traits (e.g. Bremmer, 2010; Bremmer Brett, 1997), whereas state dissociation is described as a
transient symptom and trait dissociation is described as an innate personality characteristic. The
prevalence of dissociative symptoms in both clinical and non clinical populations leads to the notion
that dissociation is a continuum (Bernstein Putnam, 1986) which extends from non pathological
manifestations of daydreaming to severe distortions of personality typical of dissociative disorders
(Giesbrecht Merckelbach, 2008; Holtgraves Stockdale, 1997; Irwin, 2001). The realm of dissociative
disorders encompasses dissociative identity disorder (e.g. experience of two or more identity entities
taking control of one s behavior), dissociative amnesia (e.g. inability to recall important
autobiographical information related to a traumatic event), depersonalization (e.g. experience of an

Plate Tectonics Evolve
How Did the Theory of Plate Tectonics Evolve? The theory of plate tectonics evolved out of the
theory of continental drift. Alfred Wegener originally proposed the theory that continents move over
time in 1912 after observing that many coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean appeared to match up
like puzzle pieces. He formed the theory of continental drift based on evidence, such as the fact that
fossils of the same species of plant or land animals are found across oceans, on different continents.
Unfortunately, Wegener s theory was largely ignored in part because it did not explain how or why the
continents moved. Over the next 50 years, however, scientists continued to collect evidence that
suggested he may have been right. For example,

Pressure And Stereotypes For Girls In The Fashion Industry
The Fashion Industry
Under society s norms for decades, girls have been put under the pressure and expectation to have
perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not
appear ridiculously overdone. Where do these unreachable standards come from? When a young girl
hears the model on the cover of Vogue being called flawless it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real
life replica of the photoshop. These companies spit out magazine covers plastered with girls idols
daily. As if maintaining the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the
forever expanding world of makeup, however, body image is a pressing issue for girls. Ads and
posters of skinny female models are everywhere. Young girls not only could be better but need to be
better and feel forced to have the perfect physique. Girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical
appearances. With accessories and apparel designed to enhance a look; social media, magazines, and
marketing campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a
prime target of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and slim women. Based
on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media
industries to be skinny , with more than 60% habitually compare themselves to models, while 46%

  • 2. Goodbye Earl The Dixie Chicks released the song Goodbye Earl in 2000 on their album Fly. The song is structured to follow what is known in music as a story song, meaning it is narrated in the third person. The story involves two best friends named Mary Anne and Wanda. The audience hears how they parted ways after high school and Wanda married a man named Earl who was violent and abused her. Mary Anne returns to Wanda when she gets hospitalized and they form a plan to kill Earl by poisoning him with black eyed peas. After he is killed, Mary Anne and Wanda move on with their lives and open a roadside stand while Earl s death is never investigated. This song downplays domestic violence through turning the lyrics and music video into satire. The lyrics are catchy and upbeat and the main vocalist, Natalie Maines, has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows a shift from a song about hard times to a song of celebration. The escape from hard times begins with decision to kill Earl, but real happiness is found in the friendship and partnership that is formed between Wanda and Mary Anne though bonding over killing Earl. After describing the murder scene, the song goes back to the original, slower tempo with only Natalie Maines on the vocals and is narrated in third person again. Earl s absence from society is made to seem like a good thing through the verse, it turns out Earl was a missing person who nobody missed at all. Mary Anne and Wanda go on to open a roadside stand, have a happy, carefree life and they don t lose any sleep at night. Through this, they have found a way to live within the accepted patriarchal way of life, but outside of the patriarchal control that caused problems for Wanda in the first place. They have also progressed from a bad situation involving domestic violence to one of utopia with no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Winn versus Trans World Airlines Winn v. Trans World Air There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the 10 made it. He was sure one of the names was his. To his disbelief his name was not on it. He was very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it. With research he found out they had not been in as long or had any special assignments, or leadership time. This was upsetting to know that the military has to promote based on gender and race. I always thought and believed a company would want ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dbq Cuban Missile Crisis Justified, righteous, fair, and reasonable. Alike in definition, these words can all be used to describe the installation of Soviet missiles in Cuba. America had tried to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro on numerous occasions, the Soviets who were allies with Cuba decided it was time to step in and support their comrades. In October 1962, a two week matter took place, after an American spy plane found 40 nuclear missiles installed by the Soviets, in Cuba, the event later became known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Americans did not approve of these Soviet missiles, because they were 90 miles away from their country, but Khrushchev was not satisfied with the U.S. having missiles pointed at his country either. This led to a small dispute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the U.S planned an attack called the Bay of Pigs, which was one of their tactics to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Their plan was to train exiled Cubans so that they could be sent to Cuba in effort to overthrow Castro. ( The Bay of Pigs ).The installation of missiles were to further prevent any events like this of happening, so it gave the USSR every reason to continue to defend their ally who was being attacked. On top of that, the Soviets did not even retort in aggression, even though it would have been reasonable if they did. Why could they have not placed missiles in Cuba if they decided to not retaliate in violence? Months later, America scheduled Operation Mongoose yet another tactic to kill Castro. They attempted to have Castro removed, overthrown, and out of office in Cuba, but did not succeed ( The Bay of Pigs Invasion and Its Aftermath ). After the second time America tried to overthrow Castro it definitely justified the Soviet storing of missiles. The saying The first time is a mistake, but the second time is a choice, applies to this situation. Cuba being attacked by the Americans the first time was kind of like the mistake in the saying but the second attempt of invasion can be compared to the choice in the saying. The final quote that proves the Soviet missiles were defensive comes from Khrushchev, we were very grieved...that an attack on Cuba was committed, as a result of which many Cubans perished. You yourself told me then that this had been a mistake. I respected that explanation (Khrushchev). A summary of Khrushchev s word is that he responded kindly to the attempted attacks and did not try to overrun America after their acts of violence, even though he had the option to do so. The USSR was very fair and calm and reacted well to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Key Theories Of Learning Learning theories are conceptual frameworks that describe how information is absorbed, processed and retained during learning. Theories of learning explain how people learn and can help teachers to understand the meaning of things and review effectively and confidently their practice accordingly (Wilson,2009). The main theories of learning are behaviourism, cognitivism and humanism. Behaviourism is based on the idea that people respond to things around them. Behaviour is learned from things seen around them or from the environment and that learning and ability to learn requires a change in behaviour. The key figures of behaviourism are P.Pavlov, S.Freud, J.B.Watson, B.F.Skinner. Cognitivism is based on the idea that learning is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Rogers(1959)only when a person is free from frustration and external impositions can grow and develop ,setting his/her own goals, following universal values, such as honesty, love, responsibility and autonomy. Rogers idea suggest that an external and objective reality does not exist and individuals observe the world in their own way, having their own reality and behaving accordingly to it. He emphasised the relationship between teacher and students, recommending a climate of respect, trust and empathy. These ideas emphasising that the teacher should always treat learners as unique individuals and listen to them. Maslow stressed the importance of positive experience in order to reach autonomy and personal growth. • 6. Merryman And Stolen Art Analysis Introduction The theft of cultural property, referred to as art, has occurred for thousands of years. An important question therefore arises: what makes something cultural property? John Henry Merryman, a notable figure in the field of cultural anthropology, defines cultural property as items that have artistic, ethnographic, archeological, or historical value. (Merryman). Moreover, nations around the world are looking for the return of cultural property in a process known as art repatriation. Due to the long history behind stolen cultural property, the international community is seeking out art repatriation more vehemently than ever, taking into account the ethical implications of art repatriation as well. History of Stolen Art Art has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, a major focal point of anti repatriation argument includes the availability of art to the public. One of the main goals of a museum is to educate the public on history through primary sources available at the museum. With art repatriated, the argument can be made that museums will lose their appeal to the public. In the most drastic cases of repatriation, some museums would eventually evolve into an educational source similar to a textbook, where there would be no artifacts to view. A counter argument to this claim is that repatriated art is at times displayed at the local museums of origin. While this is a completely substantiated argument, the majority of museum goers will most likely not subject themselves to countless museums visits. Next, research can be more easily conducted on a central location where several artifacts are located. Museums are designed for people to learn about cultures from the artifacts that they hold; this learning often times occurs through research. While it is possible to conduct research at the site where a cultural object was created, museums can be easier to access and have a larger archive of information and artwork available. Lastly, some assert that art repatriation only serves nationalistic ambitions. Nations want their people to rally behind them so that they can have support during tough times. Basically, there is a possibility that a potential political agenda might exist when art is repatriated back to a home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Communication In Group Communication Part I Hello and Good Morning Group Members, I am messaging to advise you about the urgency for communication among members of the groups you have been assigned in. Communication amid group members is very crucial because it will insure smooth flow of activities and ideas that would facilitate the effective completion of the project. It has come to management s attention of the other groups that there has been little communication happening in the groups since members were assigned to their specific groups. It is crucial for members to cease the habit of not communicating with each other and begin to embrace effective communication with one another. Effective communication depends on the group members adopting certain communication norms which include effective tactics, courtesy, and language used in communication. In group communication norms, for example, members of the group need to understand the role of communication in the successful completion of the project designated to them. The individual group members should also acquire critical tact, courtesy and formal language that encourage effective interpersonal communication strategy. Group members should apply interpersonal communication strategies that are pertinent to the norms in the workplace group communication. It is also important for group members to identify and implement the most suitable channels of communication. I will suggest the use of emails and teleconferencing since they encompass some of the best and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Birth Control And Reproductive Rights In the early 1900 s Margaret Sanger revolutionized the lives of women forever by securing the rights of women to control their own fertility and the rights of a child to be wanted. Today we take birth control for granted and it is indeed a right that we give little or no thought too therefore It is difficult to imagine Sangers struggle to introduce birth control and reproductive rights in the U.S.A as being fraught with controversy and causing her to be pursued as a criminal. The Comstock Act of 1873 meant that by simply providing any information on birth control a person was breaking the law and risked arrest. This essay aims to show the significance of Margaret Sangers contribution to nursing, how she created change in the United states as a whole as well as in the nursing profession and the lasting legacy she has left to nursing. When she received her first major honor, the Medal of Achievement off the American Women s Association in 1931, the citation recognized that she fought a battle single handed .. . a pioneer of pioneers ( Holt, Rinehart Winston cited in Wardell, D 1980). Starting her crusade in 1912 Margaret Sanger created the kind of change that one would often only see once in a lifetime, the type of change that was so significant that it changed the lives of not only many in her own lifetime but the lives of millions in future generations. • 9. Summary Of The Lord Is Salvation His name was Hoshe a ( Salvation ) the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim, but Moses went and renamed him Yehoshu a ( The Lord is Salvation ) or as in North American cultures traditionally known as Joshua (Numbers 13:16, NRSV). Joshua is a great leader from the bible he really shows how being faithful to God will end in complete success for you. I think it important to note, that just because he is a man in the bible and known as a great leader, Joshua was only human he let doubt settle in at times and wasn t as some would say super human he had faults just like us and was not perfect. The book of Joshua is a great example that Yahweh is a promise keeping God even if He works on His own time and in His own way. For example the Promise land was promised to the Israelites back in Genesis 15:18 21 where God states: To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt as far as the great river the Euphrates. The land of the Kenites, Kenizites, Kadmonites; the Chitties, Perizites, Refaim; the Emorites, Canaanites, Gigashites and Yevusites. The main purpose for the book of Joshua is the completion of the promise God made in Genesis 12 50 (Attridge, Harold W., 2006, P.310). To start off the process of the Israelites attaining the profiled promise of God they cross the Jordan river with Joshua, the rest of the book is set in a desert region as they journey to the land of Canaan (Joshua 1:2). As a consultant, you were hired to look at situations that are happening at the port over the past and current year. After analyzing the port, you have to recommend changes that can improve the Port. Which in the future can result in the Port being one of the top harbors in Florida that attracts a lot of different businesses and gain money for the community. To start your new job as a consultant, you have to look at the Harbor s history and current situation, market forecast, do a SWOT analysis, Horizontal analysis, vertical analysis, and news that has come up in the media about the Port. For example, to find out how much the company Operating revenue has increase since 2013 the consultant would have to take the amount of Revenue the company made in 2015 which was $153,324,384 and divide by the amount the company had in 2013 $ 142,931,312. After doing the calculation the consultant would have got a ratio of 104.4% of the increase in 2015 since 2013. After that to find the percent of increase in 2014 which was $153,193,953 then the individual would divide by the base amount from 2013 $146,824,45 and there would have been a 104.3% increase. The consultant should include this ratio in their analyzation because it will show how much the Port makes a year, even though they are under contraction trying to expand their Port. This information would see if the Port is losing business because of the projects that they are doing on their Port or not. Also, while doing the Horizontal analyses the advisor should include the Ratio of increase or decrease in the firm Expenses over the years since the company has to spend money to complete their Projects. To be able to receive this ratio the individual would take the amount of expenses from both 2015 and 2015 and divide the amount spend in in the year 2013 from these numbers to get the ratio of increase. • 12. The Tragic Hero Of King Lear One loss builds on another, but moreover, his greatest loss, and what distinguishes this tragedy from all others, is his chance of redemption. Unlike other tragedies, there is no salvation for the tragic hero or any sign of optimism in the conclusion. This bleak portrayal of King Lear, through his losses, makes him the ultimate tragic hero, and the play an ultimate tragedy. In every tragedy, of course, there is a tragic hero. A person who has good intentions, but leads the story to ruin through a fatal, and uncontrollable, flaw. The plot of the book centers around the consequences of King Lear s flaw. Lear also puts Kent into exile because of his defense of Cordelia. By the end of the act, he has removed most of the genuine influences in his court, and replaced them with insincere flatterers. This starts the tragedy, and reveals Lear s tragic flaw: his narcissism. An interesting way to approach Lear s character is by examining his relationship to his daughters. There are no mother figures in the entirety of the play, and no women aside from the king s daughters. When Lear divides his kingdom, he effectively turns the tables on his relationship with his daughters. Lear s lost land and authority now transfers to his two daughters, Goneril and Regan, and they deceitfully use this power against him. Ironically, Lear also falls in status, to a level inferior to that of his own children. Goneril no longer loves him beyond all manner and Regan no longer is an enemy to all other joys as they have professed in the beginning (I.i. 61, 73). Instead, Goneril reprimands his father for the way his servants and knights have infected her home (I.iv.237). Regan follows suit, and insist that The old man and his people/ Cannot be well bestowed (II.iv.258). His daughters no longer respect him as their father figure, treating him as a household pest in the very best of situations. This is the beginning of Lear s other kind of loss: a loss of identity. The winter road crews have been over the roads, but nevertheless, the road is not safe. The lane will be clean. Then, a block later, it will be covered in ice. In the city of Nampa, this situation tends to be encountered more than necessary. When someone travels from Canyon County to Ada County, there is a clear distinction between the levels of care. Roads in Boise are usually better taken care of compared to the morning traffic in Nampa. The Treasure Valley needs to increase road maintenance in the winter creating more mandates for care and researching for a better understanding and process for salting and clean up. • 14. The Music Of Bali And Its History, Beliefs, And Values,... Introduction Gamelan is a term for various types of orchestra played in Indonesia. As Indonesia entails 17000 islands, there are many different styles of gamelan, and no gamelan orchestra is considered to be the same as another (See Y S, 2000). The music of Bali a Hindu island afloat in a Muslim sea was described by the American composer Colin McPhee as the stirring mystery of a thousand bells (Gordon, 1994). Varieties of gamelan are distinguished through tunings, style, cultural context and the collection of instruments used. The varieties are generally grouped geographically, with certain styles being shared by nearby ensembles, therefore leading to a regional style (See Y S, 2000). Balinese gamelan is the main element of Indonesian traditional music as well as belonging to the sacred elements of their culture. This fear, however, is not limited to the current age of smartphones and virtual reality headsets. When moving pictures first appeared in nickelodeon theaters across the country in the early twentieth century, it was met with similar reactions. • 26. The War Theory Of War What is War? The term war can be defined as a clash that arises between different groups, states or nations. Different ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, and scarce resources are just a few of many reasons why such an act of violence may be practiced throughout the world. However, could a war ever be completely just? And if so, who would be responsible for deeming what would and would not be considered as being morally and theologically justified? This will be discussed in further detail later on in this report. Premise The Just War Theory states that war can sometimes be permissible if it is satisfactorily evaluated by the tenets of the theory. I believe that in order for a war to be just , it must always be a result of an act of self defense against a more powerful and threatening opponent. I also believe that war should always be considered as being the very last resort in conflict due to its many resulting consequences. But in such circumstances, who (or what) would determine when war would be permissible? What is Just? The term just is difficult to perfectly define as it is ultimately based on one s own perspective. Different upbringings and backgrounds would influence one s idea of the term just. Therefore, only an individual who has absolutely no sense of bias would be able to carry out the task of determining when a war would be considered justified and permissible. Although Matilda is portrayed as a female child heroine, Colin Manlove implies that Nesbit suggests that the capabilities of female children are underestimated in his journal article entitled Fantasy as Witty Conceit In this journal article, Manlove critiques that there are two sides of Nesbit the realist and the supernaturalist ...where magic is given a colloquial and comic face, and is brought into contact with very human children (126). This implies that the direct audience are those oppressed by society s double standards, especially female children, and the indirect audience are those who ridicule the capabilities of the oppressed. The story draws attention to social issues ( realist ) by assimilating fantasy fiction ( supernaturalist ). In this case, female children are belittled due to their age and gender. Since gender bias is also an issue, professors, who published the journal article Gender Differences in Children s Hero Attributions, observe that boys were expected to endorse heroes for their ability to act on the world (instrumental attributes) and for their wealth or fame (prestige) more than girls (Holub et al. 569). This alludes that the gender gap does not only apply to adults, but also children. Through their observations, the professors found that there is an underlying bias towards male heroes over female heroes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The nature of dissociative symptoms such as depersonalization, derealization and absorption has been studied by researchers in a systematic manner during the past decades. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the clinical literature it is very common the distinction between dissociative states and dissociative traits (e.g. Bremmer, 2010; Bremmer Brett, 1997), whereas state dissociation is described as a transient symptom and trait dissociation is described as an innate personality characteristic. The prevalence of dissociative symptoms in both clinical and non clinical populations leads to the notion that dissociation is a continuum (Bernstein Putnam, 1986) which extends from non pathological manifestations of daydreaming to severe distortions of personality typical of dissociative disorders (Giesbrecht Merckelbach, 2008; Holtgraves Stockdale, 1997; Irwin, 2001). The realm of dissociative disorders encompasses dissociative identity disorder (e.g. experience of two or more identity entities taking control of one s behavior), dissociative amnesia (e.g. inability to recall important autobiographical information related to a traumatic event), depersonalization (e.g. experience of an unreal or absent self) derealization (e.g. objects/individuals experienced as unreal) disorder (DMS V, ... • 35. Plate Tectonics Evolve How Did the Theory of Plate Tectonics Evolve? The theory of plate tectonics evolved out of the theory of continental drift. Alfred Wegener originally proposed the theory that continents move over time in 1912 after observing that many coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean appeared to match up like puzzle pieces. He formed the theory of continental drift based on evidence, such as the fact that fossils of the same species of plant or land animals are found across oceans, on different continents. Unfortunately, Wegener s theory was largely ignored in part because it did not explain how or why the continents moved. Over the next 50 years, however, scientists continued to collect evidence that suggested he may have been right. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pressure And Stereotypes For Girls In The Fashion Industry The Fashion Industry Under society s norms for decades, girls have been put under the pressure and expectation to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Where do these unreachable standards come from? Second, after I got my cap and gown my friends and I tried it on and took pictures for the last time, than we went to class and talked about what we were going to wear to graduation and how we would do our hair and makeup, and where we would meet up so we could all go together. As our last class ended for the day, I realized how another day was gone and we were a couple days close to graduation day which made me more anxious as well as excited at the same time. As I got home I put my cap and gown in my closet and just stood there and stared at it for a couple minutes as I wondered how fast high school went by and how I would leave all the memories behind and start a whole new different experience in college. As I stood there, suddenly someone knocked on the door. As I opened the door my friend was standing right in front of my porch. I asked her, what are you doing here? she responded, get ready were going to go dress shopping. I smiled and went back to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
