Focusing on Global Thinking
Due to the recent economic crisis, it is time to rethink corporate strategy, especially as it applies to the
global environment. In 2009, the value of international trade was expected to decline by as much as
9%. Foreign Direct investment fell 15% in 2008 and another 40% in 2009. This article is predicting a
rough decade to come with weak global growth, pressures from overcapacity, persistently high
unemployment, volatility in the financial markets, costlier capital, a greatly expanded role from
governments, a much larger burden of regulation and taxation for all, and maybe even increased
protectionism. (Ghemawat 56) These are exactly the types of things the business world must begin to
play closer attention to. This may even mean a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the top 15 metropolitan areas represent more than a third of the US market, Wal Mart only
has a 4% share in them, compared with 10% of the national market. (57) The current business
environment has also seen a shift toward lower pricing market wide. This trend will become especially
pronounced as companies expand into poorer markets. As multinationals continue their global
expansion efforts, it will be important to not only tailor strategy to local markets but also individual
products and services. This section highlights a very important topic as it points out the current focus
on the urban elite. The urban elite make up a relatively insignificant portion of potential customers
worldwide. If companies can find a way to serve even the poorest of customers, growth potential
would be practically unlimited and success all but guaranteed. The focus on lower pricing is an
interesting and rather amusing point. Companies like Wal Mart who have been chastised for their
efforts to continually cut prices at all costs may, and more than likely have helped the global economy
in the long run when it comes to cost cutting efforts because companies Wal Mart deals with have
already started to focus on how to be as cheap as possible. Several factors, including the need to
reduce global trade imbalances, the rise of protectionism, and concerns about the environment, are
causing companies to seemingly blindly rush to offshore and outsource as much as

The Advantages of Conscription
It has long been a controversial topic of debate in the United States, whether or not our young men
and women should be required to serve in the armed forces. There is proof that compulsory military
service would be in our nations best interest. It has historically shown to improve military
preparedness, and also has evenly balanced the burden of military service. It also helps to instill a
sense of duty into those who serve. From an economic standpoint, there are numerous arguments to be
made in support of conscription, including government savings. Numerous scholars write in favor of
the subject as well. The government has been debating this topic since the draft system was removed
from our country, and many reports written also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If however, a draft was imposed, with these deferments eliminated, then the burden of military service
would fall less on the minorities and the impoverished, but rather on all men of military age.
Professor Charles Moskos, a former draftee, and currently a professor at Northwestern University
makes several good arguments in support of the draft. He points out the large number of volunteers
who fail to fulfill their initial enlistments: A reality often overlooked in the all volunteer force is that
one third of entering members fail to complete their initial enlistments. Contrast this with the one in
10 draftees who did not complete their two year obligation. It s much better to have a soldier serve a
short term honorably than be discharged prematurely for cause .
He raises an excellent point when he says that it would be detrimental to allow our troops to be
dishonorably discharged. Another excellent point brought up by Professor Moskos. He argues that
because for some jobs it takes a higher level of technical skill, that cant possibly be met by short term
service, higher compensation should be offered to those who serve longer. Higher compensation
should be aimed at those whose skills require extended training and job experience. A two track pay
system could be devised to give long term enlistees higher compensation than their drafted
counterparts (many of whom, however, may have

Summary OfThe Dying Negro By Aphra Behn s Oroonoko
Aphra Behn s Oroonoko and The Dying Negro by John Bicknell and Thomas Day are two texts that
have shaped the way British authors capture the slave narrative. Both texts were written by white,
British people. Both texts have the tendency to ignore the actual issue that is slavery. Oroonoko, or
The Royal Slave and The Dying Negro utilize the theme of the noble savage to present pro slavery and
oppressive ideas through an abolitionist text.
In The Emergence of Modern Racism: First Stage Cornel West writes:
The recovery of classical antiquity...produced what I shall call a normative gaze; namely, an ideal
from which to offer and compare observations. This idea was drawn primarily from classical aesthetic
values of beauty, proportion, and human form and classical cultural standards of moderation, self
control, and harmony (97).
Behn s Oroonooko cannot be classified as an anti slavery text because it stills depicts a form of
oppression. The narrator does have a negative view on slavery, but one of the only reasons it is
accepting of the narrator is because he fits into the European stand of beauty. Behn writes:
The most famous statuary could not form the figure of a man more admirably turned from head to
foot. His face was not that of brown, rusty black, which most of that nation are, but a perfect ebony or
polished jet.... His nose was rising and roman instead of African and flat. His mouth the finest shape

Literary Analysis Of Superman
John Ondrasik s Superman, expresses the message of society expecting perfection and putting people
on too high of a pedestal. Using Superman as a symbol, Ondrasik unveils the hardship of living up to
the expectations of society. Due to his unique abilities and powers, society expects nothings less than
perfection from Superman. Having lost his family and home planet It is not easy to be [Superman].
Superman has to fight everything that society tells him to so that he can be himself. He is put on a
high pedestal in society and is expected to perform in tough situations. Many people in the world look
up to Superman due to his special powers. Society assumes Superman s life is easy and perfect since
he has these powers which make a mockery of mere mortals but it is not. Superman wishes people did
not think so much of him and tries hard to please everyone. Frustration builds up and Superman feels
like killing himself (hence the kryptonite). Superman simply cannot make a mistake since he is always
expected to succeed. Similarly, many people in our society are put on high pedestals. Even students
like ourselves, are expected to receive straight A s and never score inadequate on a test. Eventually,
when these students receive a mediocre grade, they are ashamed of themselves. These students are
frightened to inform their parents since their expectations are so high. Athletes are also put under
tremendous pressure to perform in big games. Failing is simply not an option. If one fails to succeed,
the loss will follow them around for the rest of their lives. A stamp of failure will revolve around their
name. Similarly, Superman feels like he is put on a high pedestal. Society does not let Superman cry
or dream since he is not a normal person. He is not expected to cry or dream . His duty is to protect
Earth from deleterious villains and he does not have a choice to say no. Society needs to be less naive
and understand that reaching perfection is not possibly. Like Superman, men in today s society are
socialized to be strong, dependable, and emotionless. Men are required to repress their emotions and
expected to live up to a ridiculous idea of what it is to be a man . Using Superman as a symbol is a

UGC s use of Television for Education
For over two decades University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has been using television for
higher education. In 1984 UGC launched UGC Countrywide Classroom on Doordarshan the National
Network of Television in India. Specially designed educational television programs, either imported or
locally produced, were telecast for the benefit of undergraduate and post graduate students across the
country. The need for using television for higher education was necessitated due to enormous growth

The Textual Relationship Between Virgil And Lucretius
A number of research has shown the textual relationship between Virgil and Lucretius. Many have
noticed the unique use of gliscit by Virgil in 12.9 to describe Turnus reaction to seeing the Latins
retreat and have subsequently connected it to Lucretius, specifically passage 1.474: ignis Alexandri
Phrygio sub pectore gliscens clara accendisset saevi certamina belli . Although Virgil could have had
this passage in mind, there is another use in Lucretius which can bring new context and understanding
to Virgil s use of gliscit. Scholars before have noted the relationship between Aen. 12.9 and DRN
4.1069; however, it has not been analyzed why Virgil might be invoking this specific passage.
This paper proposes that Virgil uses gliscit to describe Turnus violent state in order to echo Lucretius
use at the end of Book 4 when he is describing the state of man under the duress of Venus . This
reference both reveals further aspects of Turnus character with subtlety and brevity and moreover, as
some scholars believe that Aeneas anger at the end of Book 12 mirrors Juno s anger in the beginning
of Book 1, in a similar fashion Turnus behavior in the end mimics the characteristics of the opposing
goddess, Venus.
I will begin this study by examining the origin and meaning of gliscere. The meaning of gliscere is
similar to other sc verbs in that it expresses the idea of growth, however, it has a rarer presence in both
Latin verse and prose until Tacitus and even then, it is

Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux Essay
Jean Baptiste Carpeaux
1827 1875
The son and grandson of stonemasons, Jean Baptiste Carpeaux was born in 1827 in Valenciennes and
moved to Paris at the age of eleven. Beginning in the early 1840s he studied at the Petite Ecole, the
state school for training in the applied arts, formally called the Ecole Gratuite de Dessin, before
entering the Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1844, where he changed masters repeatedly, oscillating between
typical student ambition (optimal credentials for the Prix de Rome) and his interest in more liberal
approaches. Carpeaux moved from Ecole painter Abel de Pujol (1785 1861), to the independent
sculptor François Rude, and finally to the prestigious Ecole sculptor Francisque Joseph Duret (1804
1865). After winning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He entered the imperial circle in 1864 as artistic tutor to the Prince Imperial, and executed the boy s
bust and full scale portrait statue for the prince s parents (both mid 1860s, marble; Musée d Orsay,
Paris). He also received some of the most significant monumental commissions of the period: the
architectural decoration of the Pavillon de Flore of the Palais du Louvre (1863 1866, Imperial France
Enlightening the World and the Triumph of Flora); and The Dance (1865 1869) for the facade of the
Paris Opéra. His native Valenciennes commissioned several public projects between 1860 and 1884,
including a monument to another of its native artists, Antoine Watteau (1684 1721).
This extraordinary activity was interrupted by the upheavals after the fall of the Second Empire and by
Carpeaux s increasing frailty with cancer. He executed some smaller figures and portraits upon
commission and completed his monumental projects in Paris (1868 1874, Observatory Fountain,
Jardin du Luxembourg). He mainly focused on amassing income through commercial edition, hoping
to recoup his devastating financial losses from those projects and from the war. Estranged from his
family, Carpeaux spent the last two years of his life traveling, in the care of patrons, and in clinics. He
died in 1875.
An ambitious entrepreneur even as an Ecole student a flagrant violation of the academic policy
forbidding commerce Carpeaux produced serial works throughout his career.

The Supreme Courts Failures Culminated Together
For more than decades the court has continued to be pivotal in some of the biggest decisions for the
social identity of America. Specifically noting that for many years the majority of Americans
supported things that shaped the identity of American history (i.e. Slavery, Gay marriage, Sodomy,
etc.). Erwin Chemernisky continues to examine whether the courts roles in major social issues have
failed the American people or not. Erwin continues to explain that the supreme courts failures
culminated together, are not only a failure for race issues in America, but also a failure to interpret the
constitution effectively (21). These broad generalizations of the court flourish throughout his book,
however, it is final assessment of the court that leaves the most to be contended with. Specifically
noting that overall the court has done way more harm than good with regards to addressing minority
issues an in wake of the warren court has continued to make flawed decisions in favor of the majority
(53). This rhetoric must be addressed and analyzed by first looking to professor Erwin s view of the
courts take on minority, secondly analyzing his take on the court before and after the warren era and
lastly addressing his support and analysis of the purpose of judicial review. Through this analysis it
will become evident that Erwin Chemernisky has misinterpreted the supreme courts position as a
protector of minority rights instead of the upholder and interpreter of the constitution and law.

Because I Could Not Stop for Death and I Heard A Fly Buzz...
Death is a controversial and sensitive subject. When discussing death, several questions come to mind
about what happens in our afterlife, such as: where do you go and what do you see? Emily Dickinson
is a poet who explores her curiosity of death and the afterlife through her creative writing ability. She
displays different views on death by writing two contrasting poems: one of a softer side and another of
a more ridged and scary side. When looking at dissimilar observations of death it can be seen how
private and special it is; it is also understood that death is inevitable so coping with it can be taken in
different ways. Emily Dickinson s poems Because I Could Not Stop for Death and I Heard A Fly Buzz

These words help the poem illustrate a pleasing and peaceful experience of departing from this world
by comparing it to a setting sun. The transition to her new world was gentle and kind.
I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died is more ridged and scary when it comes to explaining death. The
narrator is looking at death from the afterlife while seeing the more frightening side of death. This
poem s setting stays entirely in the room. In the beginning of the poem, the fly is disturbing the
stillness in the room (Belasco 1331). The stillness in the room means she is dying alone with no
family or friends. The start of the poem explains how there was no peace in the death by comparing it
to a storm. It can be felt that the speaker is waiting for her death as they can hear the fly buzz like
when you hear a clock tick as you wait for time to pass. Since the character has to wait for her
departure, it shows she is experiencing a slow death. The fly buzzing plays an important role because
it shows the advancement of death. Dickinson shows the progression of death by enhancing the last
sense noticed before death when she focuses on hearing the smallest details in her surroundings. As
the narrator is nearing her death, she can hear things that the normal average individual wouldn t
notice. The fly distracts the narrator s final moments and upsets her peaceful death. The earthly fly in
the end stands between the narrator and the calm spiritual aspect of death. In the

The Problem Of Prison Population
After decades trying to prevent it, prison population continued to increase. Mandatory minimum
sentences and the privatization created more prisoners, rather than cutting down on the amount
incarcerations. Since the 1980 s, the prison population has quadrupled and today one in every one
hundred adults are in prison (Mandatory Minimums (HBO)). Infact, America leads the world in
prisoners with 20% of the earth s prison population (The Prison Crisis). In a study done by The
American Prospect, charts and graphs provide information about the overpopulation crisis. The data
from the charts show that while the crime rate has decreased, the rate of incarceration has been on a
steady incline since 1990 (Waldman). America also leads the world in the number of prisoners 760
prisoners per 100,000 population (Waldman). Not only does America have more prisoners than
developed countries, like Russia, the united states beats undeveloped countries as well. Rwanda,
which has the highest amount of prisoners in Africa, has 595 prisoners per 100,000 population
(Waldman). The overpopulation of prisons in America creates poor conditions for the inmates and
with each prisoner, more money has to go into the prison system, hurting the economy.
When a person convicted of a crime cannot pay the set bail, they are forced to stay in prison while
their trial goes on. This means that a person could be completely innocent but would still have to face
the same punishments that an actual criminal would

Persuasive Essay On Water Conservation
Before tackling the problem of water conservation, it is crucial to know the aspects of the issues.
Water depletion results from lack of precipitation and dwindling amounts of snow pack that allow the
use of run off. Due to the gradual increase of climate, both of these water supplies have decreased and
research has shown the continued drop in water reserves. At this rate, the demand for water will
outweigh its supply, leading to massive drought. California especially faces this problem since it uses
the most water out of all fifty states in America. The California Water Science Center states that on
average, each Californian uses 181 gallons of water every day, which amounts to about 355,000
million gallons a year. They also state that in a typical Southern California city, the most annual
rainfall gained is 19.5 inches, which is not enough to sustain large communities. This data shows why
it is critical to conserve current stored water and reduce the use of future water obtained. A common
action that members of communities plagued with drought often participate in is wasting water while
waiting for their sink to get hot. This small daily task can waste gallons of usable water and adds to
the problem of a drought. To solve this issue, one does not need a high IQ or large amounts of money,
simply a large pitcher or container of some kind. While waiting for sink water to get hot, once can
simply fill up a container with the water that is running. Once the water is at its

The Grand Canyon, A Landscape Made From Mixed Media

While reviewing this piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I learned a lot
about the content.
Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease of the eye that

Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint. Her artwork has
definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break down the
image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to
is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them
almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece look like they are
almost protruding off of the rest of the image.
The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color,
composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The composition
is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the image. There are
multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the
tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen between
the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color scheme again follows her

only used shades of greys and black. In order to combat the depth, she was losing

Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Heffernan
Headphones are so miniscule, but can have a significant impact on one s hearing. Listening to loud
music for long periods of time can lead to eternal hearing problems. The rhetor, Virginia Heffernan,
writes an article in the New York Times Magazine arguing why humans should limit the usage of
headphones. She explains the history of headphones and the impact they have had on people who use
headphones, especially teens. Her message is to start minimizing headphone use because the damage
they can cause to hearing. Heffernan presents her argument regarding the use of headphones in an
ineffective way because she does not use a tone that is able to persuade the audience.
Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone of
any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for the
audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and educating
them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate with someone
else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss. When Heffernan is
writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the argument is not
persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes, Headphones are packed
with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice coil, it creates an alternating

John Wilkes Booth Was The Actor Of His Life
John Wilkes Booth was known as one of the greatest actors of his time, who decided to abandon his
career to kill the president. Booth s life was very complicated; it led him to make wrong decisions, so
for that reason, John Wilkes Booth is an ideal person to give advice to. A native of Bel Air, Maryland,
he lived from 1838 to 1865. He won acclaim as a contemporary Shakespearean actor in the 1850 s and
60 s ( John ). People admired his talent; however his life was much more complicated than that. The
mid nineteenth century was also the time period of the Civil War, and John, being born and raised in
the South, was a lot more than just an actor at heart. John Wilkes Booth s personality and fervent
commitment to the South led him to make life changing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the South hated the slave line established during the Missouri Compromise, and
abolitionists were hated by southerners. Booth was deeply committed to the South, and he had little
patience for abolitionists (Otfinoski 15). This commitment eventually lead him to join the militia. As
Booth wrote of a abolitionist who was hung by the Confederacy, I saw John Brown hung, he later
wrote, . . . and while I live, I shall think with joy upon the day when I saw the sun go down upon one
traitor less within our land (Otfinoski 15). However, as mentioned before, Booth was a man who had a
hard time making up his mind, so he made a crucial mistake when he joined the militia. Soon after
John Brown s execution, he realized his feelings for him were confused, and he quit the militia. He
didn t quit because he stood for Brown s abolitionist views, but because he admired Brown s
determination to stand for something until his death. And that was exactly what Booth intended to do,
Despite his intense focus on his successful acting career, Booth never lost his passion for the southern
cause (Otfinoski 30). Booth made a vital mistake when he joined the militia, because the Civil War
and southern pride only sparked more of his persistent personality, in a hazardous

A Brief Note On Porsche s Engine Downsizing
Porsche s Engine Downsizing
There are more than one billion cars in the world right now and this number is increasing everyday
due to the demand of the cars. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right now. What a big
engine means is the eight cylinder V8, ten cylinder V10, or twelve cylinder V12 engines. Those types
of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. All the car manufacturers prefer to use
those engines because people like them and thinking that more cylinder means more power. For many
years those car manufacturers have not realized one thing that big engines emission rates are really
bad and those engines are actually creating tons of carbon monoxide because they have more
cylinders. Basically more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Porsche started to downsize their engines to fit their engine emission rates to the new rules. By that
move, Porsche was one of the first sports car manufacturer that started to downsize their engines.
Downsizing the engine mean is actually pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight cylinder
V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are making the engine
smaller, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much powerful as the bigger
engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons to increase it is performance)
Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines were stronger and it makes the car go faster.
Actually, it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the engine, it makes the car much
powerful as the bigger engines. Another thing about the downsizing the engine is the fact that, when
the manufacturer downsizes the engine they are actually making the car lighter. When a car becomes
lighter, it is actually goes faster than the previous models because it has much power as the old model,
but it is lighter. However in order to prove their small engines performance to their customers, in 2014
Porsche started to compete in the FIA WEC 24 hour races to test their new downsized engines to see
their performance and reliability in long endurance races.

egyptian art The time span of Ancient Egypt Stretches over thousands of years. It lasted many periods

With hieratic writing the scribe would often leave out several details that made one sign different from
another. Several smaller signs, written in one quick flow, would simply get squished together, but
somehow is still able to be transcribed into hieroglyphics. Hieratic was mainly used for religious and
secular writings on papyrus, or on linen. Occasionally it could be found on a temple wall during the
Greek Roman era. The name hieratic came by way of the Greeks. When they arrived in Egypt, this
writing was almost exclusively used by Egyptian priest (Greek hieratikos, Priestly ).
The last form of writing Demotic started being used during the 25th/26th Dynasty. This form is a
further evolution from hieratic. Like hieratic, Demotic was a handwriting, but the strokes wereeven
whacker and more illegible. The link between handwriting and hieroglyphic text slowly faded with
Demotic. Demotic was used mostly in administrative and private texts, but also in stories and
inscriptions.
Egyptian art gives an image of them selves and there culture. When talking about Egyptian art we
generally refer to paintings and sculptures that were used to decorate tombs. There is a strong belief in
the afterlife for Egyptians. This belief was the reason for the embalming of bodies, the statues,
carvings, and the paintings. The paintings in these tombs told stories of who and how

The Between Europeans And Native Americans
The interactions between Europeans and Native Americans have not always been positive. There are
numerous difference that interactions between the two groups. Europeans were known as a group that
during the 16th and 17th century, made a great deal of change with their religious views. They were
once without religion, but were known to turn to sects like Christianity and Puritanism. The Native
Americans were a group known to be without religion. These people did not believe it one God and a
book to follow. They believed in various higher beings that oversaw things like hunting, crops and
sacrifices. These spirits didn t represent a sense of hope or something to look forward as did being a
Christian. William Bradford and Mary White Rowlandson were two religious people who came from
England to the new world in order to seek new opportunities in their religious pilgrimage. Upon their
arrival to Massachusetts, they lived in settlements were next to Native establishments. Both women
told stories of the horrors that the Natives put upon them. William Bradford s belief is Puritanism lead
him on a voyage with others to Massachusetts. His encounter with the Natives, although not
completely negative, was bias based on his beliefs. In England, the social structure was completely
different then that of the Native Americans. In Chapter XIV, Bradford noted different customs he
noticed that the Natives portrayed. The natives shared land among each other. The chief was said to

Persuasive Essay On Graffiti
Since the birth of graffiti in the 1960 s many people were or are either thrown in jail, have to pay a
high fine in graffiti damages or are either asked to do graffiti in many museums and art galleries
because owners like the art they see and want others to see it too. Graffiti has been around for some
time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they should not
just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing themselves through this
art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to accept the art and nature or
meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good things other than rob or go to
jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have others hear them or see them in an
artistic way.
Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause violence,
but in the artist s mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by making art to
cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don t do it to go to jail or because they
want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For instance, A lot of
attention is given to the broken window theory, which says that signs of disorder like petty vandalism,
fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes, Verel told The Huffington Post.
But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a form that s both constructive and
authentic (Patrick Verel). They are taking this broken windows theory too far and only saying it can
cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift the neighborhoods and the people they
live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad enough to want artists to commit a crime.
While making this art or graffiti I don t think that these artist are trying to harm the buildings in any
way, but they should ask for permission if they aren t allowed to be painting on these buildings. This is
to let the owner of the building know that they mean no harm to the environment or their workplace.
For example, Adam Cooper, cultural strategy officer for the mayor of London, thinks

After exposing to organophosphorus compounds, prevention of serine aging and release of phosphate
group is a vital step for survival. Hydroxylamine (NH2OH) is a potent nucleophilic compound which
is able to cleave phosphate esters, therefore it helps hydrolyzing phosphorylated Ach Esterase enzyme.
That leads to develop hydroxylamine derivatives such as; oxime and followed by pralidoxim as a
antidote for phosphorylated acetylchilone esterase enzyme. Pralidoxim chloride is the only known
antidote.

  • 2. Focusing on Global Thinking Due to the recent economic crisis, it is time to rethink corporate strategy, especially as it applies to the global environment. In 2009, the value of international trade was expected to decline by as much as 9%. Foreign Direct investment fell 15% in 2008 and another 40% in 2009. This article is predicting a rough decade to come with weak global growth, pressures from overcapacity, persistently high unemployment, volatility in the financial markets, costlier capital, a greatly expanded role from governments, a much larger burden of regulation and taxation for all, and maybe even increased protectionism. (Ghemawat 56) These are exactly the types of things the business world must begin to play closer attention to. This may even mean a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the top 15 metropolitan areas represent more than a third of the US market, Wal Mart only has a 4% share in them, compared with 10% of the national market. (57) The current business environment has also seen a shift toward lower pricing market wide. This trend will become especially pronounced as companies expand into poorer markets. As multinationals continue their global expansion efforts, it will be important to not only tailor strategy to local markets but also individual products and services. This section highlights a very important topic as it points out the current focus on the urban elite. The urban elite make up a relatively insignificant portion of potential customers worldwide. If companies can find a way to serve even the poorest of customers, growth potential would be practically unlimited and success all but guaranteed. The focus on lower pricing is an interesting and rather amusing point. Companies like Wal Mart who have been chastised for their efforts to continually cut prices at all costs may, and more than likely have helped the global economy in the long run when it comes to cost cutting efforts because companies Wal Mart deals with have already started to focus on how to be as cheap as possible. Several factors, including the need to reduce global trade imbalances, the rise of protectionism, and concerns about the environment, are causing companies to seemingly blindly rush to offshore and outsource as much as ... • 3. The Advantages of Conscription It has long been a controversial topic of debate in the United States, whether or not our young men and women should be required to serve in the armed forces. There is proof that compulsory military service would be in our nations best interest. It has historically shown to improve military preparedness, and also has evenly balanced the burden of military service. It also helps to instill a sense of duty into those who serve. From an economic standpoint, there are numerous arguments to be made in support of conscription, including government savings. Numerous scholars write in favor of the subject as well. The government has been debating this topic since the draft system was removed from our country, and many reports written also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If however, a draft was imposed, with these deferments eliminated, then the burden of military service would fall less on the minorities and the impoverished, but rather on all men of military age. Professor Charles Moskos, a former draftee, and currently a professor at Northwestern University makes several good arguments in support of the draft. He points out the large number of volunteers who fail to fulfill their initial enlistments: A reality often overlooked in the all volunteer force is that one third of entering members fail to complete their initial enlistments. Contrast this with the one in 10 draftees who did not complete their two year obligation. It s much better to have a soldier serve a short term honorably than be discharged prematurely for cause . He raises an excellent point when he says that it would be detrimental to allow our troops to be dishonorably discharged. Another excellent point brought up by Professor Moskos. He argues that because for some jobs it takes a higher level of technical skill, that cant possibly be met by short term service, higher compensation should be offered to those who serve longer. Higher compensation should be aimed at those whose skills require extended training and job experience. A two track pay system could be devised to give long term enlistees higher compensation than their drafted counterparts (many of whom, however, may have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary OfThe Dying Negro By Aphra Behn s Oroonoko Aphra Behn s Oroonoko and The Dying Negro by John Bicknell and Thomas Day are two texts that have shaped the way British authors capture the slave narrative. Both texts were written by white, British people. Both texts have the tendency to ignore the actual issue that is slavery. Oroonoko, or The Royal Slave and The Dying Negro utilize the theme of the noble savage to present pro slavery and oppressive ideas through an abolitionist text. In The Emergence of Modern Racism: First Stage Cornel West writes: The recovery of classical antiquity...produced what I shall call a normative gaze; namely, an ideal from which to offer and compare observations. This idea was drawn primarily from classical aesthetic values of beauty, proportion, and human form and classical cultural standards of moderation, self control, and harmony (97). Behn s Oroonooko cannot be classified as an anti slavery text because it stills depicts a form of oppression. The narrator does have a negative view on slavery, but one of the only reasons it is accepting of the narrator is because he fits into the European stand of beauty. Behn writes: The most famous statuary could not form the figure of a man more admirably turned from head to foot. His face was not that of brown, rusty black, which most of that nation are, but a perfect ebony or polished jet.... His nose was rising and roman instead of African and flat. His mouth the finest shape that could be seen, far from those great turned lips which are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Literary Analysis Of Superman John Ondrasik s Superman, expresses the message of society expecting perfection and putting people on too high of a pedestal. Using Superman as a symbol, Ondrasik unveils the hardship of living up to the expectations of society. Due to his unique abilities and powers, society expects nothings less than perfection from Superman. Having lost his family and home planet It is not easy to be [Superman]. Superman has to fight everything that society tells him to so that he can be himself. He is put on a high pedestal in society and is expected to perform in tough situations. Many people in the world look up to Superman due to his special powers. Society assumes Superman s life is easy and perfect since he has these powers which make a mockery of mere mortals but it is not. Superman wishes people did not think so much of him and tries hard to please everyone. Frustration builds up and Superman feels like killing himself (hence the kryptonite). Superman simply cannot make a mistake since he is always expected to succeed. Similarly, many people in our society are put on high pedestals. Even students like ourselves, are expected to receive straight A s and never score inadequate on a test. Eventually, when these students receive a mediocre grade, they are ashamed of themselves. These students are frightened to inform their parents since their expectations are so high. Athletes are also put under tremendous pressure to perform in big games. Failing is simply not an option. If one fails to succeed, the loss will follow them around for the rest of their lives. A stamp of failure will revolve around their name. Similarly, Superman feels like he is put on a high pedestal. Society does not let Superman cry or dream since he is not a normal person. He is not expected to cry or dream . His duty is to protect Earth from deleterious villains and he does not have a choice to say no. Society needs to be less naive and understand that reaching perfection is not possibly. Like Superman, men in today s society are socialized to be strong, dependable, and emotionless. Men are required to repress their emotions and expected to live up to a ridiculous idea of what it is to be a man . Using Superman as a symbol is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1984 UGC launched UGC Countrywide Classroom on Doordarshan the National Network of Television in India. Specially designed educational television programs, either imported or locally produced, were telecast for the benefit of undergraduate and post graduate students across the country. From Countrywide Classroom to Virtual Classroom and packaging of knowledge, UGC has come a long way, but the scheme is yet to achieve its potential and make its presence felt in an effective manner. • 7. The Textual Relationship Between Virgil And Lucretius A number of research has shown the textual relationship between Virgil and Lucretius. Many have noticed the unique use of gliscit by Virgil in 12.9 to describe Turnus reaction to seeing the Latins retreat and have subsequently connected it to Lucretius, specifically passage 1.474: ignis Alexandri Phrygio sub pectore gliscens clara accendisset saevi certamina belli . Although Virgil could have had this passage in mind, there is another use in Lucretius which can bring new context and understanding to Virgil s use of gliscit. Scholars before have noted the relationship between Aen. 12.9 and DRN 4.1069; however, it has not been analyzed why Virgil might be invoking this specific passage. This paper proposes that Virgil uses gliscit to describe Turnus violent state in order to echo Lucretius use at the end of Book 4 when he is describing the state of man under the duress of Venus . This reference both reveals further aspects of Turnus character with subtlety and brevity and moreover, as some scholars believe that Aeneas anger at the end of Book 12 mirrors Juno s anger in the beginning of Book 1, in a similar fashion Turnus behavior in the end mimics the characteristics of the opposing goddess, Venus. I will begin this study by examining the origin and meaning of gliscere. The meaning of gliscere is similar to other sc verbs in that it expresses the idea of growth, however, it has a rarer presence in both Latin verse and prose until Tacitus and even then, it is ... • 8. Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux Essay Jean Baptiste Carpeaux 1827 1875 The son and grandson of stonemasons, Jean Baptiste Carpeaux was born in 1827 in Valenciennes and moved to Paris at the age of eleven. Beginning in the early 1840s he studied at the Petite Ecole, the state school for training in the applied arts, formally called the Ecole Gratuite de Dessin, before entering the Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1844, where he changed masters repeatedly, oscillating between typical student ambition (optimal credentials for the Prix de Rome) and his interest in more liberal approaches. He entered the imperial circle in 1864 as artistic tutor to the Prince Imperial, and executed the boy s bust and full scale portrait statue for the prince s parents (both mid 1860s, marble; Musée d Orsay, Paris). He also received some of the most significant monumental commissions of the period: the architectural decoration of the Pavillon de Flore of the Palais du Louvre (1863 1866, Imperial France Enlightening the World and the Triumph of Flora); and The Dance (1865 1869) for the facade of the Paris Opéra. His native Valenciennes commissioned several public projects between 1860 and 1884, including a monument to another of its native artists, Antoine Watteau (1684 1721). This extraordinary activity was interrupted by the upheavals after the fall of the Second Empire and by Carpeaux s increasing frailty with cancer. He executed some smaller figures and portraits upon commission and completed his monumental projects in Paris (1868 1874, Observatory Fountain, Jardin du Luxembourg). He mainly focused on amassing income through commercial edition, hoping to recoup his devastating financial losses from those projects and from the war. Estranged from his family, Carpeaux spent the last two years of his life traveling, in the care of patrons, and in clinics. He died in 1875. • 10. The Supreme Courts Failures Culminated Together For more than decades the court has continued to be pivotal in some of the biggest decisions for the social identity of America. Specifically noting that for many years the majority of Americans supported things that shaped the identity of American history (i.e. Slavery, Gay marriage, Sodomy, etc.). Erwin Chemernisky continues to examine whether the courts roles in major social issues have failed the American people or not. Erwin continues to explain that the supreme courts failures culminated together, are not only a failure for race issues in America, but also a failure to interpret the constitution effectively (21). These broad generalizations of the court flourish throughout his book, however, it is final assessment of the court that leaves the most to be contended with. Specifically noting that overall the court has done way more harm than good with regards to addressing minority issues an in wake of the warren court has continued to make flawed decisions in favor of the majority (53). This rhetoric must be addressed and analyzed by first looking to professor Erwin s view of the courts take on minority, secondly analyzing his take on the court before and after the warren era and lastly addressing his support and analysis of the purpose of judicial review. Through this analysis it will become evident that Erwin Chemernisky has misinterpreted the supreme courts position as a protector of minority rights instead of the upholder and interpreter of the constitution and law. ... • 14. Because I Could Not Stop for Death and I Heard A Fly Buzz... Death is a controversial and sensitive subject. When discussing death, several questions come to mind about what happens in our afterlife, such as: where do you go and what do you see? Emily Dickinson is a poet who explores her curiosity of death and the afterlife through her creative writing ability. She displays different views on death by writing two contrasting poems: one of a softer side and another of a more ridged and scary side. When looking at dissimilar observations of death it can be seen how private and special it is; it is also understood that death is inevitable so coping with it can be taken in different ways. These words help the poem illustrate a pleasing and peaceful experience of departing from this world by comparing it to a setting sun. The transition to her new world was gentle and kind. I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died is more ridged and scary when it comes to explaining death. The narrator is looking at death from the afterlife while seeing the more frightening side of death. This poem s setting stays entirely in the room. In the beginning of the poem, the fly is disturbing the stillness in the room (Belasco 1331). The stillness in the room means she is dying alone with no family or friends. The start of the poem explains how there was no peace in the death by comparing it to a storm. It can be felt that the speaker is waiting for her death as they can hear the fly buzz like when you hear a clock tick as you wait for time to pass. Since the character has to wait for her departure, it shows she is experiencing a slow death. The fly buzzing plays an important role because it shows the advancement of death. Dickinson shows the progression of death by enhancing the last sense noticed before death when she focuses on hearing the smallest details in her surroundings. As the narrator is nearing her death, she can hear things that the normal average individual wouldn t notice. The fly distracts the narrator s final moments and upsets her peaceful death. The earthly fly in the end stands between the narrator and the calm spiritual aspect of death. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mandatory minimum sentences and the privatization created more prisoners, rather than cutting down on the amount incarcerations. Since the 1980 s, the prison population has quadrupled and today one in every one hundred adults are in prison (Mandatory Minimums (HBO)). Infact, America leads the world in prisoners with 20% of the earth s prison population (The Prison Crisis). In a study done by The American Prospect, charts and graphs provide information about the overpopulation crisis. The data from the charts show that while the crime rate has decreased, the rate of incarceration has been on a steady incline since 1990 (Waldman). America also leads the world in the number of prisoners 760 prisoners per 100,000 population (Waldman). Not only does America have more prisoners than developed countries, like Russia, the united states beats undeveloped countries as well. Rwanda, which has the highest amount of prisoners in Africa, has 595 prisoners per 100,000 population (Waldman). The overpopulation of prisons in America creates poor conditions for the inmates and with each prisoner, more money has to go into the prison system, hurting the economy. • 16. Persuasive Essay On Water Conservation Before tackling the problem of water conservation, it is crucial to know the aspects of the issues. Water depletion results from lack of precipitation and dwindling amounts of snow pack that allow the use of run off. Due to the gradual increase of climate, both of these water supplies have decreased and research has shown the continued drop in water reserves. At this rate, the demand for water will outweigh its supply, leading to massive drought. California especially faces this problem since it uses the most water out of all fifty states in America. The California Water Science Center states that on average, each Californian uses 181 gallons of water every day, which amounts to about 355,000 million gallons a year. They also state that in a typical Southern California city, the most annual rainfall gained is 19.5 inches, which is not enough to sustain large communities. This data shows why it is critical to conserve current stored water and reduce the use of future water obtained. A common action that members of communities plagued with drought often participate in is wasting water while waiting for their sink to get hot. This small daily task can waste gallons of usable water and adds to the problem of a drought. Her artwork has definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break down the image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece look like they are almost protruding off of the rest of the image. The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color, composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The composition is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the image. There are multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen between the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. Listening to loud music for long periods of time can lead to eternal hearing problems. The rhetor, Virginia Heffernan, writes an article in the New York Times Magazine arguing why humans should limit the usage of headphones. She explains the history of headphones and the impact they have had on people who use headphones, especially teens. Her message is to start minimizing headphone use because the damage they can cause to hearing. Heffernan presents her argument regarding the use of headphones in an ineffective way because she does not use a tone that is able to persuade the audience. Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone of any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for the audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and educating them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate with someone else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss. When Heffernan is writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the argument is not persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes, Headphones are packed with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice coil, it creates an alternating magnetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Graffiti has been around for some time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they should not just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing themselves through this art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to accept the art and nature or meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good things other than rob or go to jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have others hear them or see them in an artistic way. Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause violence, but in the artist s mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by making art to cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don t do it to go to jail or because they want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For instance, A lot of attention is given to the broken window theory, which says that signs of disorder like petty vandalism, fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes, Verel told The Huffington Post. They are taking this broken windows theory too far and only saying it can cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift the neighborhoods and the people they live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad enough to want artists to commit a crime. However, in case of prolong and or repeated exposure to the Ops insecticides can be very toxic and may cause the same result as acute exposure. After exposing to organophosphorus compounds, prevention of serine aging and release of phosphate group is a vital step for survival. Hydroxylamine (NH2OH) is a potent nucleophilic compound which is able to cleave phosphate esters, therefore it helps hydrolyzing phosphorylated Ach Esterase enzyme. That leads to develop hydroxylamine derivatives such as; oxime and followed by pralidoxim as a antidote for phosphorylated acetylchilone esterase enzyme. Pralidoxim chloride is the only known antidote. The treatment can be in form of parasymatholytics administration; such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
