What Is The Value Of The Motion Picture Industry
It is no surprise to know that there has been an increase in interest towards the motion picture industry.
Largely because the motion picture industry has become a significant source of revenue in many
countries. Thousands of movies are made each year, and they total to billions of dollars in revenue.
For example, in 2006, more than 3,000 movies were in theaters totaling to $23.8 billion in revenue.
Motion pictures are also instrumental in shaping worldwide impressions of a country s intellectual,
historical, and cultural environment. In this paper, my objective is to address certain issues pertaining
to the motion picture industry, specifically its value chain, the competitive landscape, the notion of net
profit, cost allocation considerations, and the key elements to consider when conducting a cost
variance analysis. The value chain of the motion picture industry consists of three stages production,
distribution, and exhibition then it finally arrives for the consumption, where the audiences can see the
final product. As the saying goes it takes a village in each of these stages to get the motion picture to
consumers, but it is no easy task to make a motion picture. There are four phases involved before,
during, and after the production stage: development, pre production, production, and post production.
In the development phase, the producer acquires intellectual property. There is no particular order in
which this is done, but the producer needs to purchase the rights to make the film, acquire a
screenwriter, and obtain initial financing. This is easier for major studios, because hiring well known
screenwriters, actors and actresses, as well as the director, makes it easier to obtain financing.
Independent studios, on the other hand, have a limited budgeted and are only able to show a preview
for major or subsidiary studios.
Then the studio decision makers determine whether the film will be successful and compare it to other
films. They also develop a scenario analysis of potential box office revenues and determine if they
should move forward with the film. Films are only given the green light once the executives are
satisfied with the predicted probability, and once they secure financing.

Janet Smith Case Summary
On March 14th 2018, at 16:00 hours I witnessed on the CVV camera #72, that employee #10070 Janet
Smith had fallen from a ladder at the Eaton store campus and crashed and fell onto the glass coffee
table below her. I saw that she had fallen off the ladder while over reaching to hang a display sign.
Once I got to the scene of the accident, I noticed Janet Smith holding onto her left wrist and was
covered in blood noticeably in the face, forehead and left abdomen. Her co worker Janice Kaschuk
had witnessed the accident and rushed over and was helping Ms. Smith. I proceeded to get Ms. Smith
situated and noticed how bad her fall was and called the ambulance at 16.20 hours. While I was
waiting for the ambulance to arrive, I administered first aid

Optimal Communication Of Real Time Data On Secure Cdma Ip...
OPTIMAL COMMUNICATION OF REAL TIME DATA ON SECURE CDMA IP RAN NETWORK
Abstract: This paper presents an optimal and secure communication of real time data over a CDMA
based IP RAN network. In the process of data transmission, a new coding approach for security
enhancement and quality improvement based on spectrum utilization and antenna coding is suggested.
The traffic model is developed for image and audio data transmission over a wireless channel, having
an interference of AWGN noise with fading effects. An optimal spectrum sensing approach for proper
resource allocation is developed, and communicated using the secure WeP protocol. The developed
approach is evaluated for different communication parameters and compared in comparisons to
conventional modeling of CDMA system. The obtained results illustrates an improvement in quality
metrics for the developed system, in comparison to the conventional modeling.
Key Word: Optimal Communication, Image and audio data, secure coding, CDMA system, channel
coding.
I. Introduction
It has become a primal requirement in current communication system to provide high rate services
with higher accuracy and faster data exchange. With the evolution of new communication
architectures, the data exchange has got no boundness in forwarding the data to any range. Due to
integration of different networks, data are exchange over wireless network and internet network,
forming a Internet protocol Radio access Network (IP RAN). Due to

Flowers For Algernon Charlie Gordon Essay
Charlie Gordon, in the novel Flowers for Algernon, undergoes an experimental intelligence enhancing
operation to cure his mental disability. The aim of this essay is to indicate the struggle he faces
between his newly acquired intelligence and his lack of emotional maturity, which is not always seen
as compatible.
Having I.Q. of 70 Charlie battles with the most common of tasks. He has an ambition to learn to read
and write and goes to Beekman College Center for Retarded Adults. This is where Miss Kinnian
recommends Charlie Gordon for the experimental operation.

of him. He really pulled a Charlie Gordon that time. I dont know why they say it but they always laff

upset easily, they have loyalty towards a person as long as they view the relationship as useful and
they are constantly preoccupied with themselves. Charlie battles with the emotions he feels after he

Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development
Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious drives
and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to influence every
aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial choices of a lifetime.
Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were
characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body.
Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The
lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to suck on
their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep.
Anal Stage (1 3 years)
The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are
beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and able
to communicate to the parents when they need to go.
Phallic Stage (3 6 years)
During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital
stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions while
on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride.
Latency (6 11 years)
During this age of development sexual needs quieten down and children begin to focus on social
activities with friends.

Accusations Of Witch Hunts In 16th Century Europe
During the 16th century, women started to become the subject of many harsh criminal allegations.
Accusations of witchcraft and persecution took over many parts of Europe, especially German and
French speaking lands. As widespread witch hunts began surfacing, the question of why they started
became prevalent. Europe began experiencing economic troubles in the early modern period, with
population saturation, food scarcity, and runaway inflation . As a result of this troubled society, a
scapegoat was needed to draw attention away from all of the troubles that Europe was facing. Lords
with political legitimacy as well as other people with authoritative roles, like the clergy, looked at this
idea of scapegoating as a way to protect their image and ensure that they remained in power. The high
levels of economic and political conflict in 16th century Europe led people in authority to draw
attention to easy targets, by accusing them of witchcraft.
Women were used as scapegoats in an attempt to take attention away from the issues in the economy
and politics. From the very beginning of witch hunts women were instantly seen as an easy target.
Fear of women who were able to use their words to curse and attack others were the fundamentals of a
large number of witchcraft accusations. It was believed that the witch trials took place in an attempt to
rid society of women. Due to population increase peasants income was drastically decreased.
Accusing women of witchcraft opened a

Here, the poet implies the concept of the life absurdity through using special grammar structures in
order to show trivia and the insignificance of living. As a result of the conditions of the world and the
fear and hatred toward death shown in these quatrains, the poet reaches to the result that all things
have the same value which leads to the idea of the meaninglessness of everything including the world.

While Khayyam has a negative and pessimistic viewpoint to the life in some of his ruba is, on the
whole, he comes to terms with life as it is rather than exhausting himself in the futile quest for the
meaning of life and the world. It should be considered that Khayyam was not an illiterate person. He
was a great mathematician and an astronomer who knew a lot about the space and the position of
human beings in the world. In this sense, he as a scholar felt nothingness in the huge area of the
existence and being. Consequently, Khayyam as an active nihilist prefers living even in a purposeless

which motivates them to live but not to think deeply about the existence since it will deteriorate a
common person s life because he will be unable to understand and justifies his presence on the Earth

The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of
the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by
many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other
characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion
that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases

Odysseus arrogance furthers his misfortune, since Polyphemos is Poseidon s son. Polyphemos
proceeds to ask his father to never allow Odysseus to return and if Odysseus returns home that it be
well over due and without his crew; Poseidon obliges. In this instance, Poseidon s wrath against
Odysseus is solely Odysseus fault. Had Odysseus not told the Cyclops his name, he would not have
been deemed the ill fate that he was. With one brash decision, Odysseus cedes control of his fate to
Polyphemos and then Poseidon. Here, Odysseus stupidity shows that mortals possess a significant
degree of control over their fate. After being released from Circe s island, Odysseus follows her advice
and ventures to the underworld to speak with the lauded prophet Tiresias. While Tiresias is not a god,
he is not a mortal. This, along with his knowledge of Odysseus desire to return home and Poseidon s
anger towards Odysseus, allows Odysseus to trust him. Upon speaking with Tiresias, he learns that,

Oral And Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex
Debunking the Misconception that Oral and Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex
Although the origin is unknown, for many years the common misconception that both oral sex and
anal sex are safer alternatives to vaginal sex has been fuelled, especially in regards to pregnancy and
the contraction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This may be partially due to the fact that
most individuals do not consider oral sex and anal sex to be real relative to vaginal sex. The belief of
this claim has influenced individuals sexual behaviours for years, including the ways in which they
prioritize protection, and more specifically, condom use. However, although both oral and anal sex are
less likely to result in pregnancy, there is just as likely a chance of an individual who has participated
in oral or anal sex contracting an STI as an individual who partook in vaginal sex. In fact, different
methods of sexual behaviour do not necessarily mean you are subject to fewer risks, but to different
risks.
With progressing attitudes towards sex and greater acceptance of alternative sexual behaviours, the
amount of people engaging in a wider variety of sexual behaviours has increased tremendously over
the years. With greater participation in sexual behaviour comes a greater risk of pregnancy and
contracting and passing STIs.
Therefore, evaluated in this paper will be the misconception that oral sex and anal sex are safer than
vaginal sex through the utilization of supplementary

Persuasive Speech About Pranks
This was the scariest Halloween ever on record. The 31st of October, the year of 2017 was almost like
torture for some in the town of Blood Hills. But let s go back to the beginning to get everyone caught
up. It all started exactly two weeks before Halloween. All of the seniors were planning the first ever
whole town prank. Where they would prank every person in the town with something scary. Soon this
would be an annual thing, but this was the test to see if it would be kept. Every year the high school
seniors have to say goodbye to their parents because there are no colleges in the town. The seniors
have to drive out of the town for college. This year the seniors decided to start pranking the citizens of
the town. Obviously they were pranks that were scary because it is Halloween after all. They were
only allowed to prank people once a year, Halloween day. This was the only day that people could go
all out and scare someone. Everything was acceptable as long as it was legal.
The town has always been safe, up until this year. It all changed when the gang came into town and
ruined the reputation of Blood Hills.. A gang from a different town was going to come and ruin the
reputation of Blood Hills. I m not going to tell you their plans. You will just have to wait and see. Two

In Nova Scotia, African Nova Scotians did not have the same rights as Caucasian Canadians, these
rights that African Nova Scotians were denied of were the right to vote, employment and even the

Canadians to limit and control everything African Nova Scotians could and could not do. One of the
largest forms of overt racism to happen within Nova Scotia, Canada was the mistreatment and
destruction of Africville. Africville was a settlement in Bedford Basin, Halifax and it was founded in
1840 by African refugees and their descendants who came to Canada. The destruction and
mistreatment of Africville and its residents is a monumental example of racism at work in Canadian
history; it had a devastating effect on the black community, most people believe that the destruction of
Africville was an unfortunate incident that was born of a necessary and humanitarian effort however,
the destruction of Africville was not only planned for years but the Halifax city council and those in
power at the time within Halifax slowly throughout the years destroyed the land and homes of

began to infringe on Africville property, the establishment of the Nova Scotia Railway Company in
1853 resulted in the early demolition of several homes as rail lines were built through the community
this demolition of homes showed that companies and industries saw Africville not as a community

occasions where the Halifax council and businesses used Africville as their own source for expansion.

clear when examining the strikingly different accounts of the festival that reactions varied depending

This approach gives the book a distinct atmosphere as it reads like one giant conversation, allowing
the reader to appreciate Woodstock as the undertaking of many.[3] An examination of Joel Makower s
other work reveals his qualifications to describe Woodstock s status as a business venture. He has
authored or co authored at least twenty books, many of which involve business and investing. His
other works include studies of the media and an American history sourcebook.[4]
While Makower s description of the production of Woodstock outlines an outwardly gradual process
of preparation and decisions, newspapers of the era provide the initial shock and public reaction of the
festival. Outrage felt by local citizens of Bethel is displayed in an article written by Alfonso A.
Narvaez and printed in The New York Times on August 20, 1969. The article conveys the frustration
felt by local residents as an influx of thousands caused massive traffic jams, widespread property
damage, and a shortage of basic necessities and sanitary facilities. Many local businesses were ill
prepared to provide needed goods and services to such an enormous group of people. The Bethel post
office was closed while dairy farmers were forced to dump fresh milk because neither mail trucks nor

Symbolism In Battle Royal
The short story, Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison, a blindfold is used as one of the major symbols of the
story. The blindfold symbolizes the narrator s inability to see the battle he is truly up against. The
African American narrator of the short story is invited to give a speech at a gathering of some of the
towns white citizens after successfully delivering the same speech at his graduation. When the narrator
arrives he is subjected to doing horrifying things. One of which is having to blindly and brutally fight
some of his black schoolmates all of whom are also blindfolded. While the narrator is in the ring
taking hard hits, his thoughts return speech. He is so focused on delivering a speech of quality that
will win over the white audience. The narrator states, The harder we fought the more threatening the
men became. And yet, I had begun to worry about my speech again. How would it go? Would they
recognize my ability? What would they give me (Ellison 6)? The narrator is so blindly focused on
receiving admiration from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

head in the lion s mouth. I want you to overcome em with yeses, undermine em with grins, agree em

grandfather tries to tell him to conform and live a life subservient to whites. He wants him to agree
with them and try to be like them to win them over. The narrator calls the words his grandfather
shared with him on his death bed his, grandfather s curse (Ellison 2). His grandfather s words acted as
blindfold to keep him from seeing the injustice in the way he is treated because his focus becomes
doing and saying whatever pleases the whites making him a traitor as his grandfather calls it (Ellison

The Rise Of China s Global Involvement
Today, the influence of the People s Republic of China is felt around the world. Its global economic
and diplomatic presence has led to speculation that China will be or already is the next superpower.
However, China was not always so involved in the world and the motivations that drove China to
extend its influence and ability to project power remain a subject of debate. There are two major
schools of thought on what motivated China to become a global actor. Certain scholars such as David
Shambaugh, Elizabeth Economy, and Michael Levi, believe Chinese global influence is a result of the
need to secure raw materials essential to economic and industrial development. Other scholars such as
Susan Shirk and Shaofeng Chen see Chinese attempts to expand its influence as primarily a method of
ensuring that the Communist Party of China retains enough domestic support to hold on to power.
This paper argues that the rise of China s global involvement in the 21st century is largely a result of
its quest for energy security, which has motivated China to expand its power projection capabilities,
extend its influence in the developing world, and take on global leadership roles. China s rapid
economic rise created a huge demand for energy that generated energy security concerns within the
government. These concerns led to the onset of Chinese investment around the globe in an effort to
control energy resources. Moreover, energy security has been a primary motivator for the
modernization

Comparing The Gods In The Illiad And The Sakuntala
Gods and other supernatural beings have played a role in human mythologies and storytelling for as
long as stories have been told. Even the ancient texts of the oldest known civilization, the Sumerians,
tell tales of great and powerful gods that would influence their culture and way of life. In storytelling
gods and the supernatural continue to have direct roles in stories, oftentimes influencing the outcome
based of favor towards an individual or group. In particular this can be seen in The Illiad and The
Sakuntala, but also in modern day movies, books, and television shows. Intervention of the gods can
be seen early in Book I of The Illiad, when Agamemnon dishonors the priest Chryses and refuses to
release his daughter, even after Chryses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Sakuntala the main protagonist King Dushyanta often speaks of the great services he provides
the gods while serving as king. The king lives a blessed life, filled with beauty, goodwill, and loved by

a mortal man. [S ]akoontalá and Dushyanta seal their marriage in the eyes of the gods within the grove
where [S ]akoontalá was raised. The king is later cursed, forced to forget his love until the curse is
broken (Kalidasa, p. 376 . 480). As a reward for his exemplary service to the gods, he is reunited with
his wife and son in heaven, where the gods explain the curse to the united

Nuclear Energy
On this assignment we are going to research all energy sources and their drawbacks, we are also going
to explore on some the negative ramifications that even the clean hydropower have, additionally we
are going to weigh those against the possible consequences of developing nuclear power, a
controversial alternative to fossil fuels. We will discuss the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster as well
as the 20th century Chernobyl nuclear meltdown in drawing conclusions about risk versus reward of
nuclear energy use.
As we all can see all energy sources have drawbacks even the clean hydropower, some of the
advantages of clean hydropower energy are as follow: Nuclear power generation does emit relatively
low amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

absence of huge scientific breakthroughs and even larger amounts of money, that nuclear debris will

Well, we are here at the end of our journey, which it helped us to learn a lot more about nuclear energy
and some the drawbacks that comes with it. We also learned about the tragic event that happened in
Japan s catastrophe the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. What is going on with the Japanese
nuclear reactors is, without question, a terrible event that can possibly add more hardship onto an
already unspeakable tragedy. The explosions and the threat of a radiation leak are troubling, and
Japanese engineers and scientists are doing everything humanly possible to contain the situation.

The Electoral College Is The Best Interests Of All The People
The Electoral College has long been controversial, and is subject to both criticism and defense. To
understand why either side is valid we must look at its values and its weaknesses, its pros and cons.
The Electoral College was devised to proportionally dole out the power of selecting our executives
geographically. In doing so the Electoral College gives otherwise marginalized portions of the U.S.
population a voice. Adversely the Electoral College can be seen as an obstruction to democracy and
the will of the people. Whether or not the Electoral College serves the best interests of all the people in
United States is up to debate. This paper functions to reveal what validities either argument may
include.
The Electoral College was founded on the idea that no entity, federal or popular, should have the
power to singularly determine the outcome of electing our country s executive. Founding father James
Madison writes in the Federalist papers about his concern regarding tyrannical factions that arise in
pure democracies. Madison in Federalist Paper No. 10, recognizes a faction as ...a number of citizens,
whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some
common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent
and aggregate interests of the community. (The Federalist Papers) In order to combat the tyranny of
the majority while maintaining a democratic selection process of our

Kafka s In The Penal Colony
Throughout this course, we have analyzed multiple legal systems in texts that involve a trial or some
form of leniency, such as the Trial of Jesus and The Apology. The texts that don t involve this, such as
the Old Testament, include some form of absolute divine punishment that defeats the need for a
judicial system altogether. With In the Penal Colony, Kafka gives us an opportunity to explore a
society in which the legal system involves absolute punishment without divine intervention, and
challenges us to think normatively about it and the effects it has on society. In the society where In the
Penal Colony is set, a unique system of justice and punishment is used. Following the principle that
guilt is always beyond doubt, individuals accused of a crime are not given any opportunity to defend
themselves, and are instead put to death using a torture machine (Kafka 155). This brings up important
normative questions: what does this say about the judicial system and its effectiveness, and is this
system just? On one hand, it can be perceived as unjust, as people are not given leniency and more
importantly may be convicted of crimes they did not commit. As Professor Weiler says, The worst
thing you can do is convict an innocent man. On the other hand, however, it can be seen as the highest
form of justice, as the guilty will always be purged and given no chance at redemption. Furthermore,
the nature of the punishment, a brutal public execution that steadily deepens over

Manet s Atlantia
In Briony Fer s discussion of the formation of modern art, she invites us to view the problematic
character of the modern art as a form of difference or incoherence (21,27). In this paper, I will
delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to
the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and
Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged
in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the
system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. Manet himself,
however, is rather oblivious to the historically critical position ... Show more content on

As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her
point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic
conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the
level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet
invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition
of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized
form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction
of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in
an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment,
the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class
dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time.
The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of
incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that
proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own

Advertising And Gloria Steinem s Sex, Lies, And Advertising
Advertisements are intended to make their audience feel remarkable if and only if they purchase what
is being publicized. In 2005, Dove launched a Real Beauty campaign in an effort to reassure women
of their physical beauty. The campaign featured women of all different shapes and sizes to connect
with each body type. However, this campaign would not be advantageous to both the consumers and
advertisers if the advertisers did not get their fair share. Gloria Steinem, author of Sex, Lies, and
Advertising, is strongly challenged by Dove s campaign by exemplifying how Ms., a magazine that
Gloria was co founder of, eliminated advertisements in order to maintain journalistic integrity.
However, Jennifer L. Pozner, author of Dove s Real Beauty Backlash, utterly supports Dove s Real
Beauty campaign by concurring with Dove s powerful message of confidence. Despite their opposing
views on advertisements, both women share a common ground: Advocating the empowerment of
women.
Browsing through a magazine, one finds oneself looking at nothing but ads. Not in Ms., a feminist
magazine conducted by one of the best known icons of the women s movement, Gloria Steinem.
Steinem worked whole heartedly in order to portray opposition towards advertisement. She vindicates
her opposition by claiming that, In any case, we do know it s the advertisers who are determining what
women are getting now (Steinem 199). Steinem highlights how advertisers have taken over magazines
entirely. They

The Techniques Of A Good Design
A good design makes the document attractive and easier to read. This chapter describes some of the
techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are
the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and
graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also,
using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select
appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New
Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the
space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch
margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any
document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness
in a document is unprofessional. Hence, one should always read a final hard copy, as it is possible for
printing error to appear on printed page but not on a computer screen. Next, formatting makes paper
attractive and easier to read. For a document longer than half page, it is good to use headings. Heading
makes paper less intimidating and provides readers a chance to pause and reflect on what they have
read. It also allows readers to preview the contents of a document by reading the headings

  • 2. What Is The Value Of The Motion Picture Industry It is no surprise to know that there has been an increase in interest towards the motion picture industry. Largely because the motion picture industry has become a significant source of revenue in many countries. Thousands of movies are made each year, and they total to billions of dollars in revenue. For example, in 2006, more than 3,000 movies were in theaters totaling to $23.8 billion in revenue. Motion pictures are also instrumental in shaping worldwide impressions of a country s intellectual, historical, and cultural environment. In this paper, my objective is to address certain issues pertaining to the motion picture industry, specifically its value chain, the competitive landscape, the notion of net profit, cost allocation considerations, and the key elements to consider when conducting a cost variance analysis. The value chain of the motion picture industry consists of three stages production, distribution, and exhibition then it finally arrives for the consumption, where the audiences can see the final product. As the saying goes it takes a village in each of these stages to get the motion picture to consumers, but it is no easy task to make a motion picture. There are four phases involved before, during, and after the production stage: development, pre production, production, and post production. In the development phase, the producer acquires intellectual property. There is no particular order in which this is done, but the producer needs to purchase the rights to make the film, acquire a screenwriter, and obtain initial financing. This is easier for major studios, because hiring well known screenwriters, actors and actresses, as well as the director, makes it easier to obtain financing. Independent studios, on the other hand, have a limited budgeted and are only able to show a preview for major or subsidiary studios. Then the studio decision makers determine whether the film will be successful and compare it to other films. They also develop a scenario analysis of potential box office revenues and determine if they should move forward with the film. Films are only given the green light once the executives are satisfied with the predicted probability, and once they secure financing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Optimal Communication Of Real Time Data On Secure Cdma Ip... OPTIMAL COMMUNICATION OF REAL TIME DATA ON SECURE CDMA IP RAN NETWORK Abstract: This paper presents an optimal and secure communication of real time data over a CDMA based IP RAN network. In the process of data transmission, a new coding approach for security enhancement and quality improvement based on spectrum utilization and antenna coding is suggested. The traffic model is developed for image and audio data transmission over a wireless channel, having an interference of AWGN noise with fading effects. An optimal spectrum sensing approach for proper resource allocation is developed, and communicated using the secure WeP protocol. The developed approach is evaluated for different communication parameters and compared in comparisons to conventional modeling of CDMA system. The obtained results illustrates an improvement in quality metrics for the developed system, in comparison to the conventional modeling. Key Word: Optimal Communication, Image and audio data, secure coding, CDMA system, channel coding. I. Introduction It has become a primal requirement in current communication system to provide high rate services with higher accuracy and faster data exchange. With the evolution of new communication architectures, the data exchange has got no boundness in forwarding the data to any range. • 8. Accusations Of Witch Hunts In 16th Century Europe During the 16th century, women started to become the subject of many harsh criminal allegations. Accusations of witchcraft and persecution took over many parts of Europe, especially German and French speaking lands. As widespread witch hunts began surfacing, the question of why they started became prevalent. Europe began experiencing economic troubles in the early modern period, with population saturation, food scarcity, and runaway inflation . As a result of this troubled society, a scapegoat was needed to draw attention away from all of the troubles that Europe was facing. Lords with political legitimacy as well as other people with authoritative roles, like the clergy, looked at this idea of scapegoating as a way to protect their image and ensure that they remained in power. The high levels of economic and political conflict in 16th century Europe led people in authority to draw attention to easy targets, by accusing them of witchcraft. Women were used as scapegoats in an attempt to take attention away from the issues in the economy and politics. From the very beginning of witch hunts women were instantly seen as an easy target. Fear of women who were able to use their words to curse and attack others were the fundamentals of a large number of witchcraft accusations. It was believed that the witch trials took place in an attempt to rid society of women. Due to population increase peasants income was drastically decreased. Accusing women of witchcraft opened a ... Oral And Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex Debunking the Misconception that Oral and Anal Sex Are Safer Alternatives Than Vaginal Sex Although the origin is unknown, for many years the common misconception that both oral sex and anal sex are safer alternatives to vaginal sex has been fuelled, especially in regards to pregnancy and the contraction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This may be partially due to the fact that most individuals do not consider oral sex and anal sex to be real relative to vaginal sex. The belief of this claim has influenced individuals sexual behaviours for years, including the ways in which they prioritize protection, and more specifically, condom use. However, although both oral and anal sex are less likely to result in pregnancy, there is just as likely a chance of an individual who has participated in oral or anal sex contracting an STI as an individual who partook in vaginal sex. In fact, different methods of sexual behaviour do not necessarily mean you are subject to fewer risks, but to different risks. With progressing attitudes towards sex and greater acceptance of alternative sexual behaviours, the amount of people engaging in a wider variety of sexual behaviours has increased tremendously over the years. With greater participation in sexual behaviour comes a greater risk of pregnancy and contracting and passing STIs. But let s go back to the beginning to get everyone caught up. It all started exactly two weeks before Halloween. All of the seniors were planning the first ever whole town prank. Where they would prank every person in the town with something scary. Soon this would be an annual thing, but this was the test to see if it would be kept. Every year the high school seniors have to say goodbye to their parents because there are no colleges in the town. The seniors have to drive out of the town for college. This year the seniors decided to start pranking the citizens of the town. Obviously they were pranks that were scary because it is Halloween after all. They were only allowed to prank people once a year, Halloween day. This was the only day that people could go all out and scare someone. Everything was acceptable as long as it was legal. Its global economic and diplomatic presence has led to speculation that China will be or already is the next superpower. However, China was not always so involved in the world and the motivations that drove China to extend its influence and ability to project power remain a subject of debate. There are two major schools of thought on what motivated China to become a global actor. Certain scholars such as David Shambaugh, Elizabeth Economy, and Michael Levi, believe Chinese global influence is a result of the need to secure raw materials essential to economic and industrial development. Other scholars such as Susan Shirk and Shaofeng Chen see Chinese attempts to expand its influence as primarily a method of ensuring that the Communist Party of China retains enough domestic support to hold on to power. This paper argues that the rise of China s global involvement in the 21st century is largely a result of its quest for energy security, which has motivated China to expand its power projection capabilities, extend its influence in the developing world, and take on global leadership roles. China s rapid economic rise created a huge demand for energy that generated energy security concerns within the government. These concerns led to the onset of Chinese investment around the globe in an effort to control energy resources. Moreover, energy security has been a primary motivator for the modernization ... In doing so the Electoral College gives otherwise marginalized portions of the U.S. population a voice. The texts that don t involve this, such as the Old Testament, include some form of absolute divine punishment that defeats the need for a judicial system altogether. With In the Penal Colony, Kafka gives us an opportunity to explore a society in which the legal system involves absolute punishment without divine intervention, and challenges us to think normatively about it and the effects it has on society. In the society where In the Penal Colony is set, a unique system of justice and punishment is used. Following the principle that guilt is always beyond doubt, individuals accused of a crime are not given any opportunity to defend themselves, and are instead put to death using a torture machine (Kafka 155). This brings up important normative questions: what does this say about the judicial system and its effectiveness, and is this system just? On one hand, it can be perceived as unjust, as people are not given leniency and more importantly may be convicted of crimes they did not commit. As Professor Weiler says, The worst thing you can do is convict an innocent man. On the other hand, however, it can be seen as the highest form of justice, as the guilty will always be purged and given no chance at redemption. In this paper, I will delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and Manet s own voice. As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment, the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time. This chapter describes some of the techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also, using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness in a document is unprofessional. Hence, one should always read a final hard copy, as it is possible for printing error to appear on printed page but not on a computer screen. Next, formatting makes paper attractive and easier to read. For a document longer than half page, it is good to use headings. Heading makes paper less intimidating and provides readers a chance to pause and reflect on what they have read. It also allows readers to preview the contents of a document by reading the headings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
