Health And Fitness Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of health and fitness can be both challenging and rewarding.
The intricacies of this topic demand a comprehensive understanding of various aspects, ranging
from physical well-being to mental health and lifestyle choices. Assembling a coherent and
informative essay requires not only a solid grasp of the subject matter but also the ability to
articulate ideas effectively.
One of the challenges lies in navigating the vast and ever-evolving field of health and fitness.
Staying updated with the latest research findings, trends, and emerging issues is crucial to
producing an essay that reflects the current landscape. Additionally, presenting information in a
manner that is accessible to a diverse audience, whether they are well-versed in the topic or
approaching it for the first time, adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, striking the right balance between scientific rigor and engaging writing is essential.
The essay should be informative, yet not overwhelm the reader with technical jargon. It should
inspire a commitment to healthier living without sounding preachy. Achieving this delicate
equilibrium requires careful consideration of language, tone, and structure.
Furthermore, addressing the multifaceted nature of health and fitness involves delving into the
psychological and social dimensions alongside the physical aspects. Discussing topics such as
motivation, mental resilience, societal influences, and cultural perspectives expands the scope of
the essay but also demands a nuanced approach.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on health and fitness may pose challenges, it offers a
platform to explore and communicate vital information that can positively impact lives. By
overcoming these challenges, one can create a piece that not only informs but also inspires
readers to make informed choices for a healthier lifestyle.

Field Of Dreams Film Analysis
The movie Field of Dreams came out in 1989 and was directed by Phil Alden
Robinson and story written by W.P. Kinsella. The movie is about a guy named
Ray Kinsella, and he lives in Iowa with his wife Annie and daughter Karin, with
their yard being a farm to produce crops to make money. One day when Ray was
out on the farm, he heard a voice saying If you build it, he will come . He went
inside to tell Annie, but they didn t know what it meant. A few days later, he still
kept hearing the voice say If you build it he will come , and they imagined a
baseball field in the middle of his farm and crops and saw Shoeless Joe Jackson.
Ray then thought that if he builds a baseball field, Shoeless Joe Jackson might
come back to play again. Ray ripped out a bunch of his crops to build this baseball
field. He waited and waited and didn t see Shoeless Joe Jackson yet. Ray and Annie
were losing a lot of money from having fewer crops and needed to sell their home.
Then, when Ray and Annie were talking about money, Karin came in the room and
said there was a man standing on Ray s field, and it was Shoeless Joe Jackson.
After that, Shoeless Joe Jackson invited the rest of his team to play, but there was
one problem, only Ray, Annie, and Karin can see the dead baseball players.... Show

Ray was not invited because he had a family to stay with and he didn t talk to the
catcher yet. The catcher was his father when he was younger and Ray introduced
John Kinsella to Annie and Karin. John asks Ray if they are in heaven and he says
no it s Iowa, but it is like heaven because dreams come true there, hence the title
Field of Dreams. After that, Ray and John shake hands and John says goodbye.
Ray calls John back before he leaves and asked if they can have a catch, and they
did. The movie ends with cars on the road traveling towards the field to watch like

How Hormonal Factors Affect The Behaviors Within The...
Body
Hormonal factors
Hormonal factors have a strong influence on the behaviors within the parent offspring
conflict, especially within the realm of begging. This factor is important because of
the mother s ability to change the hormonal contact that the offspring will receive
within development or within the egg. The hormonal factors that will be discussed
are the different levels of testosterone, other androgens influences, parental influence
on yolk hormones, and differences in male and female yolk androgens.
There is considerable evidence indicated that testosterone can be involved in
different levels of effort in begging. In a research article published in the
Proceedings of the Royal Society: Biological Sciences, the higher the testosterone the
more begging behavior is observed and the increase of resource success from the
parents. This could show that there is a potential trade off in testosterone mediated
begging behavior. It could also indicate that the endocrine system has some control
over this offspring behavior and therefore begging could be part of the honest
signaling models, reflecting the need of the offspring honestly. In such a case, the
parent offspring conflict is lessened by the honesty of the offsprings signal,
benefiting the parent s fitness as well as the offspring s fitness (Goodship, 2011).
Androgens are involved in the environmental plasticity of begging in both the parent
and the offspring. These interactions probably occur within the egg,
Circadian Rhythms And Sleep Deprivation
This was a very interesting assignment; I have learned some important things on
this topic. The topics are on circadian rhythms disorders and sleep deprivation. To
start out on circadian rhythms disorders this is what I have learned. Circadian
rhythms are regulated by a part of the hypothalamus called the suprachiasmatic
nucleus. One s alertness, core body temperature, moods, learning efficiency, blood
pressure, metabolism, and pulse rate all follow these circadian rhythms. Circadian
rhythms lead to sleep deprivation. Circadian rhythms affect one s body not
allowing one to get the correct sleep and time of sleep one is need to function
properly. Circadian rhythms disorders is simply a disruption in one s circadian
rhythms which is a name given for one s internal body clock that regulates ones 24
hour cycle of biological processes. There are patterns of brain wave activity,
hormone production, cell regeneration and other biological things that go along
with ones 24 hour cycle.() The circadian rhythm is very important in analyzing
ones sleep pattern like when they are a sleep pattern like when they are a sleep and
when they are awake. One s normal circadian clock is based on light dark times
over 24 hours.() This disorder can be caused by several different factors, a list of
these factors are as followed; Different shift work, pregnancy, time zone changes,
medications and changes in our sleep pattern like staying up late or sleeping in late.

Jennifer Heap Research Paper
She s not your traditional author by any means, but her work could be be
considered poetry. A solo artist known for the group Frou Frou and her song Hide
and Seek , meet my favorite author, Imogen Jennifer Heap. Born December 9, 1977
in Essex, Imogen Heap for the most part is self taught and is a huge success.
Imogen defied the unwritten rule of solo acts by instead of making a name for
herself in a group then leaving to do their own thing, Imogen did the opposite. She
was born in the rural part of Essex to a businessman and a future art therapist. 12
years after Imogen was born, her parents divorced. At the young age of 13, Heap
could already play piano, cello, and clarinet. She attended the Quaker Friends
School and there she self taught herself how to produce music on Atari computers
after she could not get along with her music teacher. At 16, she wanted to produce
orchestral music. As part of her studies, she recorded pop demos that caught the
attention of managers that believed she should go into the studio. In 1996, Heap
began working with an experimental pop band called Acacia. She was never a real
member of the band, just a guest vocalist. One of the band members would play an
important part in the future, and one of Acacia s songs will pop up later on.... Show

Garden State soundtrack and the duo picked up popularity, but unfortunately only
after the two disbanded because of yet again, the contract was
Image Processing and Recognition
Preprocessing
It required a lot of study on previous work and some study of related topics which
uses a little bit same technique to process their features for recognizing a person.
Most of the literatures were based on palm image processing and some of the books
and research papers were based on face recognition. As such, a lot of research work
has been done by Chinese researchers so far. A series of researches gave me a set of
methods and a set of features to be selected among them.
This research also requires depth knowledge of image processing. Fetching out each
position of the palm image through the reading it pixel by pixel. Some kinds of
reading patterns of image should be crystal clear in the mind while working with the
features of this topic.
There are various useful books also available on image processing provides
knowledge of different methods. Which one would be better, could be decided after
discussion with my guide.
1. Document Representation
On the basis of the study of previous researches, I had a great collection of previous
research papers (published by others) and related books. Before getting to start with
the feature selection, document representation has been done with the help of power
point presentation. This includes a systematic approach to represent this research
work.
This gets start with the introduction, overall structure of the topic, previous
researches done by others, reason behind my research, introduction of new features
Essay On Staying In Oakland
Staying in Oakland will be the best solution financially. Oakland has a booming
economy that continues to grow at a rapid pace. Many new companies setting up
headquarters in Oakland, such as Uber, are making the prices of living in Oakland
rise higher and higher because many rich tech people are moving in rapidly. As a
result, Oakland is becoming a much nicer place than it once was. By staying put,
the Raiders would benefit from more expensive tickets due to Oakland becoming a
wealthy city. Also, the Raiders fan base in the Alameda County is second to none,
as they have been selling out games for years. This will also help drive up the ticket
prices because there will be lots of demand for the tickets, thus raising the prices even
further.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By moving there, you will be losing money in the long run. Initially, it will be more
profitable than staying in Oakland because most of the stadium funding will be
from the casino tycoons and tickets for the first season there will be at an all time
high. But, after the first season, less and less people will come to games because
the novelty of the Raiders in Vegas will wear off and Las Vegas isn t a football
town. There aren t many true sports fans in Vegas who will come to every game
faithfully like residents of the Alameda County do. A great example of this is
when the Rams moved to Los Angeles last season. Everybody was extremely
excited for the Rams coming to LA and as a result, ticket prices boomed and the
Rams were one of the most profitable teams in the NFL. But, as the season
progressed, less and less people went to the games, and the Rams began to self
destruct, firing their coach mid season. So, in the long run the Raiders would be
making more money by not moving to Vegas. Staying in Oakland will be the best
thing to do for the fans as
Mature Adults
With the influence of the media children are exposed to so much information so
early in life but don t know how to deal with this information because they aren t
fully mature enough to handle it. From the time children are in middle school the
media has already given them an education on current politics, world crisis like
ebola and the syrian refugees, or current trends like dance moves and challenges that
can endanger them because they don t understand where they re own limits lie. They
act inappropriately about these topics because they aren t mature enough to handle
the information appropriately. What are the signs of a mature child ready to hear
about serious issues like mental health and world issues? Such as if a child has a
firm sense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mature adults use knowledge to deal with situations and not rely upon strong
emotions. A child will easily blow up when not granted immediate satisfactions
like a toy or candy but, as they grow up they can delay that gratification with
reasoning and logic. Delayed gratification, self control and patience all go hand in
hand with knowledge because to have all of those things you need to reason with
yourself using knowledge such as I can t eat this donut I am on a diet, but I can have
it if I exercise. . When dealing with a difficult situation, a mature adult will calmly
assess the situation and use knowledge to deal with it instead of a child or an
immature adult who will get angry and shout at not being able to solve the issue.
Knowledge goes hand in hand with many other things such as patience, self control
and delayed gratification. A mature adult must have patience, selflessness and stay
humble when complemented or insulted. Children don t have these qualities and that
s why it is so hard for them to take in the information from the internet without proper
guidance. In conclusion, mature people can wait and act upon love and knowledge
and not upon their own immediate
Functionalist Perspective Of Education
The opening to chapter 13 begins with the experiences of various families that have
different problems with education that led them to the conclusion of homeschooling.
Education contributes to what is known as the credential society that we have today,
as the degrees earned in education determine jobs that people are eligible for. The
certification that education provides a person is used as evidence that the individual
is capable of certain tasks and has certain skills. The more developed a nation, the
more extensive an education that they provide their people, and this trend is seen
across Most Industrialized, Industrializing, and Least Industrialized Nations.
Education is seen in many different perspectives, especially amongst sociologists.
Functionalists focus on the major functions that education serves, such as teaching of
knowledge and skills, cultural transmission of values, social integration, social
placement, and mainstreaming. The conflict perspective, on the other hand, focuses
on how education reproduces the social class structure through unequally funding and
having schools exclusive to the elite. This is while the symbolic interactionist s
perspective focuses on the interaction of the classroom and how student performance
typically conforms to the expectations that the teacher has over them. Like everything
else in the world, education isn t perfect by far, as there are many problems, such as
mediocrity, grade inflation, social promotion, fake data, and
Speech Distracting Essay
In the informative speech, I didn t many things that were admired and distracting
during the speech, and I hope to improve on those distracting interrupting acts on my
next speech. During the speech, I did some items that were a little distracting through
the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I had some awkward pauses, bad
transitions, some um s, and a little stutteringthroughout the speech. If you look at the
speech I tendto stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival Diwali
I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am
explaining. Another thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the
speech, the transitions are a little rough and not as smooth. During the transition
when I switch from talking about the celebrations to the language I say, with all
these celebrations it tends to bring many religions and languages together doesn t
really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother. Stuttering is also a part of
the speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the speech, I
stutter during different parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about
the different traditions when eating Indian food. I say, some of the traditions when
people eat in India are well we all we eat on our hands, which is a little annoying.
During the speech, I also said um s during the speech. When citing my source on
languages I said some ums, repeating the citation from the notecard. During the
speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments, saying some um s, bad
transitions, and some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next speech.
During the speech, I was also a good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice
projection, my hand moment was consistent, I was always facing the audienceand
held eye contact, and had facial expressions to emphasize the importance of a topic.
Right off the bat when I was explaining my citation saying According to the U.S
Census Bureau there are alone 5.7% Asian s in the United States, I was pointing my
hands to make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers. Another thing I did
well during the speech was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the speech
Accounting Practices For The Market Valuation
INTRODUCTION: In current scenario, many corporate firms have some issues due
to change in accounting practices for the market valuation. Change in financial
management for market valuation has been failed and brings the notion of three
different entities; accountability, representation and control. So, in this essay I have
taken AMAZON company and yet to discuss about their accounting practice which
influence the market valuation. In addition, issues of accountability, representation
and control also to be discussed briefly in accordance with their accounting practice.
ACCOUNTING: The process of observing and providing the financial statistics of an
organisation which is useful for customers for managing and to create economic
decisions. The process of identifying, measuring and communicating financial
information about an entity to permit informed judgements and decisions by users of
information. (McLaney and Atrill, 2002:1). Accounting data is unbiased and neutral,
which helps to determine the level of excellence and different factors that influence
the company s performance. This point has been explained clearer by (Ezzamel
Willmott, 2004:784) Accounting information is an impartial and neutral
representation data, which is correctly used, can reduce unwanted ambiguities and
can reduce waste in organizing supplies . The three main financial statements are the
balance sheets, the profit or loss account and the cash flow statement. Hence, with

Introduction: Everyone is born with some creativity. We know that everyone have
some specific ability to perform something. Creativity is not limited it is very wide
in nature, each and every field we find creativity. Creativity not only helps to get
better status in society but also helps to earn livelihood. There are many types of
creativity, for example people have creativity like, creative in writing, creativity in
art and craft, creativity in teaching, creativity in play etc. there are various type of
creativity people have. There are many scholars who gave different definition of
creativity and many researches done on creativity.
As above discuss everyone is familiar with creativity but, when questions like what is

Helicopter Parenting Research Paper
Protective parents have been around forever, but has it reached its extremity?
Helicopter parenting is the newest trend in today s society, it is a way of raising
children in a very stern, controlled, and structured manner. Helicopter parents control
their children s lives with strict rules and often complete tasks for the children that
are unnecessary all to protect their children. This child raising strategy most often
incorporates an element of babying , such as making their teenager s lunch for them
every day, doing their child s homework and projects for them, and not letting their
child go anywhere alone even when they are in well into their teen years. The effects
of helicopter parentinghave an enormous physical and psychological... Show more

Children who have helicopter parents never learn to be accountable for their
actions because their parents constantly did everything for them. They have a fear
of failure, a lack of confidence, and co dependency issues (Blau). The children
also, as a result of being sheltered by their parents, have decreased confidence and
self esteem, undeveloped coping skills, increased anxiety, a sense of entitlement,
and undeveloped life skills. These children are just not capable of doing things for
themselves and this leads to many issues later in life. However, helicopter
parenting is not always a horrible thing. Studies have shown that physical abuse
has dropped astonishingly, from 1992 to 2011 the rates dropped by 55%. The
same thing happened to counts of sexual abuse, it fell by 64% through the same
year range. The number of abductions by strangers fell by 51% from 1997 to 2012,
and motor vehicle deaths of children under 13 years of age fell 43% in the last
decade (Baer). This study equates the drops to the rise of helicopter parents.
Although counts of physical harm have dropped, an in depth study was done by
Florida State University that surveyed around 460 college students about their life
satisfaction levels. Those who had been raised by parents who gave them a larger
sense of autonomy reported higher levels of satisfaction in life and those who
reported having helicopter parents reported low levels of self efficacy, and higher
levels of anxiety and depression ( Helicopter Parents ). So, even though accidents and
physical harm to children have been reduced, the psychological harm is quite
prominent and will follow the child throughout their
What Are The Factors Affecting California s Water Supply

But why mommy?

The debate concerning where California s water supply should go, is between
allowing farmers to have it, or sending it to streams to help the Chinook Salmon.
Since California s drought has been going on for 5 years now, where the water
should go is a great concern to most. If the unassigned water in California is not sent
to the farmers then jobs will be lost, food prices will rise even more so than they
already are, and the groundwater and surface water will be negatively affected.
Agricultural related jobs accounts for about 9.3% of jobs in the U.S, but in reality all
jobs rely on agriculture. Restaurants depend on farmers to grow fruit so that way
they can use it in their delicious desserts, and the steak that they served, a farmer
raised that. So if the water is sent towards the streams, then jobs will be lost. Simply
because the farmers would have to pay more for their water and they would have to
either cut down what they pay their farm hands, or fire them. An estimated three out

Summary On Women s Decline
Chapter 8 Summary of Women s Decline as Clergy Due to the Early Church
Fathers God has ordained female pastors from eternity past. That part is not a
problem for God. The problem is with us, with the church. We are slow in binding
and loosing on earth what God has already bound and loosed in heaven (Mat
16:19; 18:18; Dr. Martin Hanna). At the Council of Nicaea, 325, bishops were given
power of veto over who could become bishops in their respective areas. This in turn
accelerated the concentration of their authority.98 By 354, the church fathers appear
to take on a duel personality when it came to women serving in the church. On one
side, women were inferior if they were married. On the other side, unmarried women
(virgins) could possess autonomy and equality with men. However, this only
pertained to spiritual equality and did not carry over to social structure.21 Under the
rule of Constantine the Great, increased centralization of religious authority expanded
the wealth and prestige of the men who administrated cleric authority.99 In addition,
the emperor s authority became involved in the development of the church and
resulted in the church being involved in high political decisions. This action
furthered the influence of the of the emperor over the election of bishops and church
policy. These developments placed church officials in the position of having to
compete for the emperor s favor.99 It was decided at the Council of Laodicea, 354,
that female

This forms a runny slur which is packed into cylinders were the lead is shaped into
pencil cores. Once the pencil cores are extruded out of the packing cylinders they
are passed through a dye which allows the lead to take on the shape of a pencil

water are out of the lead. While the furnace stiffens the lead, the wood working

for smooth sharpening. The graphite, on the contrary, is mined in China and Sri
Lanka. These raw materials are later exported to factories. The metal used in

Linux Network Name Spaces
Overview
In this paper we will discuss the Linux Network Name Space. First, the concept of
namespaces will be described along with an overview of the default name spaces
available in the Linux operating system. The Linux Network Name Space is a key
enabler for some high profile virtualization technologies including OpenStack and
Docker.
Linux Name Spaces
Linux consists of the following six namespaces:
Network Network Namespace
PID Process Namespace
Mount Filesystem Namespace
User User Namespace
IPC Interprocess Communication Namespace
UTS Host and NIS Namespace
Linux namespaces can be traced back to early UNIX technologies called chroot,
process jails controlled where access is controlled with cgroups. The concept of a
namespace is to isolate processes from other processes on the system. This concept
evolved into namespaces that are created with clone() system call and manipulated
with the setns() and unshare() system calls. The clone() system call is used when
creating child namespace from a parent or root namespace. As the name would
suggest this creates a clone of an existing stack. The setns() system call is used to
join a namespace. The unshare() system call is used for moving processes into a
namespace, as the name suggests the process

Topicality In No Greater Love By Danielle Steel
INTRODUCTION
Topicality of the subject. One of the necessitating topicalities of this research is to
show how a person can take a heavy responsibility on his or her shoulders, making
her bend but not break. No Greater Love is a historical fiction that touches the theme
of love, loyalty and how a person s life can change in a night, the novel is also partly
of Titanic disaster which happened in 1912. Many writers addressed this theme and
many had gained success. But Danielle Steel, the author of No Greater Love could
reveal the deepest feelings hidden in one s soul. This novel portrays us the life that
is very real, it describes young Edwina s love, loss, loyalty, sorrows, responsibility.

The second chapter deals with the analysis of the characters of the novel, the second
sub chapter of the second chapter is about Titanic.
In the letters written by Danielle Steel is said about the novel and mostly about its
genre.
We see that No Greater Love shows the facts of real life, such as Titanic disaster and
First World War. Actually, the novel in itself is very real, because some parts of the
story are very similar to the fragments of our own lives. The story has educating
aspects, one can find consolation while reading. Because all the viewpoints of the
truth are depicted there. This is a story about Edwina s life, but in the face of
Edwina, Danielle Steel described all of our lives. No Greater Love is a consolation
for those who met with loss, who experienced disasters and wars. This is a support
for those who sacrificed their own happiness. If you lost somebody it doesn t mean
world s stopped revolving, life goes on and you must learn to live somehow. At last,

Abstract This paper introduces Docker in context with security in clouds. It describes
various techniques used to test cloud security. It also offers a potential approach to
understand nature of information security in Docker a representative of container
based approach. Over the last few years, the use of virtualization technologies has
increased dramatically. This makes the demand for efficient and secure virtualization
solutions become more obvious. Keywords: Security, Container, Virtualisation,

The media may be new, but the punitive messages and appetites remain the same
today s tech simply provides new outlets for the worst behaviour (Gaskill). For
over 19 years, social media sites have changed the way humans communicate.
Social media sites have affected individuals in positive and harmful ways. These
sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat in some way have used witch hunting
to harm others. According to the Merriam Webster, witch hunting is the searching
out and deliberate harassment of those (such as political opponents) with
unpopular views . The argument is made that the communication among others on
social media has drastically increased and has led to thousands of witch hunts.
Social media is similar to the events of the 1692 Salem witch trials and the written
play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Social Media is a form of communication in
which a person shares information, personal ideas, and thoughts online. The
foundation of social media began in 1997 when the first social media site Six
Degrees was developed. Since 1997, social media has become an iconic name and
has become part of this generation s conversation. There are over 100 million
people using social media to gain access to the digital world, with over 20 social
media sites including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram (Milanovic 1).
Roughly 80 percent of teens and 20 percent of adults use social media daily and
almost half of the users were bullied or criticized for a single comment. Comments
that include discrimination, sexism, or political beliefs can be retweeted to
thousands in a matter of hours. Accusations go viral, globally, within hours, and
instead of having dozens of angry voices baying for your blood, you have tens of
thousands (Haley 1). Although social media has made it easier to communicate
these sites, make it easier to be critical or prejudiced to others online instead of face
to face. Social media has been widely used in the United States and the rest of the
world. These sites influenced the way we communicate, but, what about our health?
According to the National Center for Biotechnology, researchers have found that the
use of social media has increased the number of psychiatric disorders

(Economy Watch)
Every economy has their own characteristic. For free market is there are many
economic freedoms, there is competition among businesses, competition determines
price which increase the quality of the product, economic decisions are made by the
basic principles of supply and demand, and profit is the motive for increasing work
rather than quotas.
Mixed economy
Mixed economy is combination from planned and free market economy. This
economy system allows the private company use their capital. This economy system
allows the government to interfere to the market. The resources are allocated from
both the government and the private sector. In this system the freedom in the
economic activities are influenced by the Government s regulation and licensing
policies.
The example of the country that implemented this economy system is Iceland,
Sweden, France, and United Kingdom.
There are several advantages and disadvantages of the mixed economy system. The
advantages are most business and industry can be left to private firms. This is
because private firms tend to be more efficient than government controlled firms
because they have a profit incentive to cut costs and be innovative. Second is
government can pursue policies to provide macro economic stability.

Gifted Students and Social Stigma Essay
Gifted Students and Social Stigma
Philosopher Benedict Spinoza said, Man is a social animal (Kaplan 278). The desire
for social acceptance, whether recognized or denied, is part of human culture. People
yearn for it, obsess over it, and alter themselves to obtain it. Humans can spend their
entire lives unsuccessfully attempting to achieve a level of social status they believe
will validate them. Acceptance is denied for superficial reasons varying from
clothing to cliques. However, it is also denied due to innate elements of personality.
Stigmatizing others for a natural characteristic not only seems unwarranted but also
unfair. Yet, a stigma is imposed daily on gifted adolescents who neither deserve, nor

They want to know what something is but also why it is that way. Teachers can take
this curiosity to be offensive and oftentimes the student is viewed negatively by their
peers due to an adoption of the teacher s negative attitude, thus beginning the social
stigma (Johnson 27).
Another standard, educational treatment of gifted students is to separate them from
the class. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates
the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these
situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different
status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due
to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student
the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. Gifted students never
become accustomed to peer interaction because this system is perpetuated upward
throughout the grade levels. And unfortunately, in an educational atmosphere where
grades are a primary focus, poor interpersonal skills are more likely to be tolerated
than poor work related skills (Wolfle 3). It becomes a norm for the student to work
alone and his/her social and psychological needs are ignored.
The students themselves report that one prevailing stigmatism of being gifted is
being neglected, not

Today s limitations of the technology are foreseen to be overcome and specialists
are already working on several of these issues. One of the common concerns of
companies implementing wearable technology today is the rapid obsolescence of
the technology, especially in view of the investment cost. Technology is

Colonial America
During 1607 1753, Colonial America was founded. Starting on 1492, when
Christopher Columbus discovered land beyond the England, people were launched
into a new life. A group of puritans departed from England to escape the growing
stress of the English government. Searching for freedom, in both religion and
government, they sailed towards America. Their main goal was not only to start e
new life, but also to convert the savages; Indians. With this move they experienced
many difficulties. Upon starting a new life, they had to learn a new way of political
life, social life, educational life, and above all religious lives.

It became to be known as the little Bible because religious instruction was
integrated into the grammar lessons. The eighty page book taught the alphabet as
well as moral and spiritual principles. After graduating from high school, you could
go to college. However, in order to be accepted, there were strict requirements that
one had to follow. Every student should be able to read, construe, and parse Tully,
Virgil, and the Greek NT; and to write true Latin in prose and to understand
common arithmetic. Nevertheless, not only will they have to accomplish all
these, but they also have to live a religious, blameless life in God. Every student
was forced to constantly pray in the school hallways every morning and evening;
as well as read a passage of scripture. The professors were to take turns preaching
from God s Word in the halls. Additionally, if any student were to act rudely or
profane the Sabbath, they would be harshly disciplined. Unfortunately, the
government governed even their schools strictly. Colonial America s social life
was probably the most interesting aspect of their new lives. They had two main
laws by which to live by; The Moral Law and the Law of Grace. According to the
Moral Law, every man was to love his neighbor, and help in times of want or
distress. However the Law of Grace, calls men to put a difference between Christians
and others.

They always have their own agenda for everything they do . The the person with the
most money controlling the senate is the one in power. The last way politics are

The Life Of Fredericks, Frugcom X, And Malcolm X And...
Many people have had to overcome difficulties in life to achieve their goals. People
such as Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, and Sherman Alexie, in their stories
Learning to read and write , Learning to Read , and Superman and Me they discuss
how they were able to resist an oppressive society in order to achieve their dreams.
Although they lived in different times, they shared the same desire to become
educated.
Frederick Douglass was born a lifelong slave in 1818 Talbot County, Maryland.
Unfortunately, Douglass was born at a time where it was forbidden for a person of
color to know how to read and write. But despite being dominated by slavery,
Douglass was determined to learn how to read and write and eventually develop
techniques for this purpose. For instance, in the story, Douglass wrote The plan
which I adopted.... was that of making friends of all the little white boys whom I met
in the street. As many as I could, I converted into teachers. With their kindly aid....I
finally succeeded in learning to read. (Douglass. 125). As time passed, Douglass
also taught himself to write by going to the lumber yard and writing down the words
the carpenter would write on the timber as well as copying the handwriting from the
little son of his enslaver. Douglass believed this was his pass to freedom.
Sherman Alexie was born in 1916 on an Indian reservation in eastern Washington
state. He was ridiculed at school for being smart and wanting to learn. In the Indian

SP and DP are 16 and 8 respectively, but a performance gap of
3 to 4 times in SP and DP is observed, which is well beyond the ratio of SIMD width.
This is because the performance of where clauses for WS/DMMPs schemes on
KNC is sensitive to the SIMD width as described in the section of SW26010
optimization. The wider the SIMD vectorization is supported, the better performance
efficiency can be obtained.
Unlike IVB and KNC, SW26010 has the same SIMD width of 4 in both SP and DP

It is observed that on IVB the averaged floating point performance can reach to as
high as 45% of the peak performance in both single and doubleprecision.
Using KNC as a standalone many core processor results in an averaged performance
of 406.62 Gflops/s in single precision, which is above 20% of the theoretical peak.
But the averaged double precision performance reduces dramatically to 111.63
Gflops/s, which is just over 10% of the peak performance. When KNC is used as a
coprocessor, which is a much more common case, the cost of data transfer between
the main memory and the device memory should be included.
And the results, shown as KNC+offload indicate that the performance drop due to
the data transfer is substantial; only around 6% to 8% of the peak performance is
sustained in double and single precision respectively. As a many core processor,
SW26010 does not need the data transfer between the main memory and the device
memory, and the performance is satisfactory as compared to the KNC in offload
mode, especially in the single precision case.

Defying Social Constraints in A Doll s House Essay
I really liked this play along with the other ones we have read in class. However,
this plays seems to stand out to me because it takes a feminist point of view. It is
always good to go inside the role of a woman and see how they feel and act upon
their own thoughts. Good literature helps us to learn about how other people think
and act. Moreover, when we can relate the characters actions to our lives or the
world around us the meaning is more personal and beneficial. For some reason, I
feel like many women out there really do feel like Nora. They are trapped in
economic circumstances because it is the safe way to go. Many times woman do not

In today s sense, she is a stay home mom and in the Victorian times, that s what
women were supposed to do. However, Edna felt the exact opposite way and she
even states this by saying, I would sacrifice my life, but not myself for my children.
Edna was just tired of being her husbands possession and keeping up with the
social conventions at the time. As a result, she searched internally within herself to
escape the cage she was living in. Through the process of self realization Edna
decides to move into her own pigeon house. She leaves her kids and husband to
live on her own in order to not be anybody s possession, but just her self. The
pigeon house allows her to dare and defy social constraints without loosing her
social respectability. Edna followed her heart rather than reason, which is one of
the themes of the novel. Still Edna felt caged and the only place that had no
boundaries or restrictions was the sea. Rather a selfish way to escape, it was the
only thing left for her to do, so she commits suicide. This is quite the contrary from

Richard Graff s Hidden Intellectualism, By Gerald Graff
To be book smart or street smart, or is it possible to be both? In the reading,
Hidden Intellectualism, by Gerald Graff, a professor at the University of Illinois
Chicago, he touches on the subject of being street smart but not doing too hot in
school. He argues that if students could be as interested in school, and as book smart
as they were street smart, then they would have the opportunity to thrive and excel in
school all while enjoying it, he even goes on to use himself as an example of taking
an anti intellectual and becoming a great intellectual.
Graff goes on the introduce the idea of taking non intellectual topics or objects and
seeing them through academic eyes which would allow students to become engaged
in the learning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes this is to blame for the harsh separation between street smart and book
smart, because although they should both tie in with each other like the way they
function in the real world, they are frowned upon instead of being encouraged in
today s academic setting. Diverse topics, topics that students find that their
interested in, not only limited to bland stereotypical subjects should most
definitely be allowed and highly encouraged in today s academic realm, because
truth be told, not everyone wakes up and says, I am so excited to read Macbeth by
WIlliam Shakespeare and write about it like there s no tomorrow, it s just
uncommon. There are more than 2.1 million students on 114 campuses, in
community colleges in California alone according to the California Community
College Chancellor s Office, and we are all different, but expected to learn the same
way. How does that make any sense? What one students might find interesting, the
other might detest. For example, I enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men by John
Steinbeck whereas my peers despised it. This ties back to what Graff had stated
about students being allowed to write and read texts or subjects which are of their
interest as long as they are viewed through academic eyes. I agree with the idea that
street smarts are more intellectual than book smarts, and that students individual
interests can be more effective than typical learning material. In the text, Graff uses

Attachment Bond Psychology
What is an attachment bond? An attachment bond is the unique emotional
relationship between your baby and you as his or her primary caretaker
(Robinson). Dogs have been seen as to being the most loyal to their owners since
they have a bond that goes back for generations. Before dogs were kept as pets,
they were wolves and it has been confirmed that dogs still actively carry the wolves
traits in all areas that allow them to bond with families. Wolves are known for being
territorial, hunting cooperatively, and becoming emotionally bonded with their
owner and when seeing them after a long period of time are filled with excitement
and passion. By being part of the family, dogs feel the comfort and support as they

Dogs reacted the same way an infant or a chimpanzee would react without their
mother and for a dog was its owner. By doing the experiment on dogs and their
owners, experimenters were able to conclude that dogs were emotionally attached to
their owners. Therefore, we can conclude since the results are of those like infants,
babies form an emotional bond with their caretaker which eventually turns into an
attachment bond with their loved one. Babies tend to cry while dogs scratch the
door and whine wanting their loved one or owner. Identifying dog behavior helps us
identify our own abilities and experiences that affect our behavior. We can utilize the
test done upon the dogs to advance the transition of an emotional bond to an
attachment bond as the infant grows. The test however concluded that it was
separation anxiety that caused the whining and the scratching on the door. What
about the baby? The information and results that came from the experiment can
help us advance upon the baby and their feelings towards the mother. Dogs tend to
act like people but do they think and act like a human? They have the
characteristics of acting like a human because their owners have instilled their
values into their upbringing. Just like an infant, the early stages are the most
important to lay the foundation that will pave the way for the rest of their lives. As
for a dog, the way we treat and teach them, they will act, there is no breed that is
born aggressive, the dog is dependant on the upbringing of the owner. Infants still
have the capability of saying no and not tend to respect their parents as would a
Winnie Pooh Psychoanalysis
A Psychoanalysis of Winnie the Pooh Young children do not have any concept of
moral or life, therefore they learn through visual representation. They watch as
parents complete tasks such as work or chores, absorbing the ideals of
responsibility and leadership, and these ideals are thus set in motion. However the
children themselves do not have any young of their own to take care of as the adults
do, so in lieu of kids, they create imaginary characters and act as guardians for them.
This phenomenon is not only seen in reality, but also in writing. In A.A. Milne s The

The social media explosion led to a trend of sharing everything with everyone,
promoting products and service, and ultimately improving the success of humans.
Privacy advocates began to question this new trend and how it was affecting the user.
New regulations, which continue to evolve, were placed on social networking sites,
but it has not slowed down the growing popularity of online social media. Social
media is inexpensive and user friendly, therefore many individuals use this form of
communication to socially interact with family and friends who live thousands of
miles away (Hertlein 382). This causes concerns that individuals will no longer
connect physically to one another, and will ultimately eliminate face to face
communications. However, individuals are still communicating with others, it is
just in a different form. Social media does not alter social bonds, it allows for users
to communicate and express themselves differently. Published in the International
Journal of Relational Perspectives in 2011, S. Harman stated, Relationships
facilitated by technology appear to provide the same sense of well being as is
associated with other types of close associations. The Internet may elicit some
changes in how people communicate, but not why they do so (Zilberstien 152).
Those whom are using social networking sites tend to also be social in real life. This
new communication does not replace other forms
The History Of Treatment Of Depression
The History of treatment of depression is hard to link to a specific date. In the early
years of treatment there was almost no distinction between mental disorders as
compared to our knowledge of them now. Depression was not recognized as a unique
problem and for that reason it didn t receive unique treatment. Depression has been
around as far as humans have, even before treatment was thought to even help
patients. Depression has been a big part of mental healthin the medical field.
Depression now is categorized into a few different categories, while before it was
more of a generalized disorder and was thought to be of only one kind. The way
that we look at depression now is still under developed to the point that common
knowledge of mental health is still low compared to how it should be at this point
in time with our technology.Although our common knowledge of depression have
greatly improved from what our knowledge of depression was in the 18th 20th
century, we still have a long way to go to reach a stable point in mental health. Many
doctors have gone into the mental specialization field of medicine and have done
many special and important contributions to the field. Research in the mental has
come a long way and has improved to the point, were more morale is taken in
account with cases. Treatment now is more developed and is a bit more complex
then it was in the 17th 20th century. Treatment in that time was more simple and
straight to the point. Apart from it

As God does not force any one to worship or obey His laws, man has the absolute
freedom, to think, feel, say and do what He wills, man is not under any obligation
to serve God, the creator has given each and everyone the freedom to dominate His

Examples Of Framing Theory
The research for this article was conducted within a framework of Framing theory.
The theory was first put forward by a Canadian American sociologist Erving
Goffman. Media framing, to put it bluntly, is a term that points to a presence of a
certain bias in any media outlets output. All choices made in a newsroom collectively
form the frame through which media decides to show the world to the audiences.
Everything matters: Covering one event and ignoring another, covering one event
more than the other, deciding what words to use to cover an event, what photographs
or video clips to include, whom to give a voice, etc. At the same time, framing theory
goes far beyond newsroom policies. Framing is not necessarily a delibirate choice.
Journalists themselves look at the world through frames: their education, upbringing,
gender, ethnical background, knowledge of the issue, and so on. Audience members
apply their own frames as well, not just to media content, but to everything they hear
and see. In 1993 Entman employed Framing theory approach to analyze the coverage

Since my research deals with a conflict situation in the context of international
politics, those studies that have dealt with similar issues are the ones that are most
relevant to me. One such study was conducted by Maslog, Seow and Hun and
published in Asian Journal of communication. The researchers looked at the how
newspapers in five Asian countries covered the Iraq war. The study concluded that
newspapers from non muslim countries emphasized War journalism frame, and
generally supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq, while newspapers from muslim
counries opposed the invasion and emphasized Peace journalism frame. Reseachers
found that religion and sourcing are two important factors shaping the framing of
Asian news coverage on the Iraq war. (Maslog, Seow, Hun,

The purpose of this experiment was to explain how colorimetry can be used to
qualitatively detect cellular chemical components; to chemically differentiate
between proteins, sugars, starches, and lipids; to identify the roles of molecular
components in living systems; to comprehend the value of using a systematic
approach to research; and to describe why hypotheses, controls, standards, and quality
control are important in scientific research (Vorndam, 2002, p. 92).

Alpha amylase Solution Preparation used in Exercises 1 and 2:
Find the dropper bottle marked alpha amylase. Carefully remove the bottle cap
from the dropper bottle and thenremove the dropping tip. This can be done by first
placing a small clean piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap over the tip. Then use
your fingers or pliers to gently wiggle the tip upwardto free it from the bottle. The
foil or plastic will help to prevent contaminating the tip with foreign substances. Place
the removed tip on some foil or plastic until needed. Note the instructions on the
dropper bottle, and use the amount of water specified there for the following
procedure. (Vorndam, 2002, p. 97)
Place an aliquot of distilled water into a clean beaker. Use the beaker to pour the
exact mL of distilled water into the graduated cylinder. It helps if you use a long
stemmed pipet to control the water when the solution is close to the mL mark. Pour
this aliquot of distilled water from the graduated cylinder into the dropper bottle
containing pre measured alpha amylase powder. Carefully replace the dropping tip,
still covered with foil or plastic. Remove the

There are about 65 million scooter owners in India. Families are forced to pile onto
scooters, or make several trips to commute. Clearly, this is not an ideal form of
transportation for most people. However, the low income in India has prohibited
individuals from purchasing a vehicle than can cost more than $10,000. Is India s
Tata Motors new four door, four seat, rear engine car for $2,500 a good alternative
plan for transportation in India?
In an article, No, No, No, Don t Follow Us, Thomas L. Friedman, who became the

like the Middle East conflict, U.S. domestic politics and foreign policy, and
international economics, claims that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no question that there is a demand for cheap cars in India and it will be
beneficial for their economy to produce cars to meet that demand. Once the people
s car is successful in India, India s market will grow when they begin exporting to
other fast growing markets where a relatively few percent of people own cars. Soon
India will not only be competing at the top of auto industry, but it will be competing
at the top with the innovative People s Car.
The People s Car will also provide reliable, cost efficient transportation to
consumers. Tata is planning to produce 250,000 People s Cars within the first year
(Giridharadas). Considering that India s middle class is almost 300 million, the
potential for sales is enormous. Profits will be made, leading to benefits for both
India and Tata Motors. Even if the profit margins are small, the numbers of products
being sold will generate a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile for Tata Motors.
To take Friedman s point of view into consideration, we will consider the fact that
cheaper cars will increase traffic and pollution. Isn t this inevitable? In this fast paced
world, everyone wants more. Let s consider asking Americans to give up their cars
for scooters or a bus ride everyday. How many of them would allow this? Very few. I

Thor In Giantland Essay
This masterpiece, Thor and Loki in Giantland , is taken from the Prose Edda. The
Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth
century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother.
Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian
mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and
politician. He hypothesized a new idea of religionon how gods are created: A war
leader or king dies, and is later idolized after his or her death. For example, if a
group is going into battle, then they will pray to the leader to help with their
hardships and begin to venerate the figure.
This particular work was written in honor of nobles, for love, or to commemorate
current events. Throughout the selection, Thor and Loki in Giantland , the type of
writing used is syllabic in structure and utilizes kennings. Moreover, kennings are
periphrases that can appear as metaphors, but also are able to give the effect of
riddles. In addition, another literary device used is dialogue. Dialogue in this story is
used to present an exposition of past events as well as to further advance the plot.
Furthermore, Sturluson intended the book to be used as ... Show more content on

Six are from the middle ages and one is from the 1600 s. There are no complete
manuscripts left, and most are copies of the original. However, at the time of this
writing, C. 1200, writing began to take the place of oral tradition in Iceland and
prose also took the place of poetry. One factor that could have influenced Sturluson s
writing was Iceland coming under Norwegian control in 1262. This may have been
the reason that many of his stories included significant battles and over comings. An
example is during Thor s fight with the giants. Though only a handful of small,
passive battles, many illustrations depict the battles as violent with
Invisible Man Essay
In American society of the early 1900s, many Blacks were still being mistreated by
Whites under the separate but equal doctrine. They wanted to have the same
opportunities, but the underlying racism rooted in the American culture often
prevented any possibility of advancement in jobs or success in careers. The
abundance of civil rights groups during this time depicts the inner conflict between
the law and morality as well as constant changes in goals and identity. In Ralph
Ellison s The Invisible Man, the protagonist exemplifies inner conflict and constant
fluctuation in future goals, morality, and personal opinions similar to Zbigniew s
character Mr. Cogito in his poems On Mr. Cogito s Two Legs and Mr. Cogito and the
Pearl. In On... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He charges into a fight but tries to get away when things start to get messy.
While the protagonist is very similar to the Quixote side of Mr. Cogito, his identity
as a whole is also comparable to the makeup of the two sides of Mr. Cogito. Though
both legs are normal, the left, Sancho Panza leg is a little on the short side,
suggesting that Mr. Cogito is also less practical and more idealistic (Zbigniew, 3).
Since his legs are not even, Mr. Cogito goes through the world staggering slightly
(Zbigniew, 29 31). Similarly, the protagonist is often unbalanced in his idealistic
notions and practicality of the situation. For example, during the eviction scene, the
protagonist tries to calm the angry crowd by giving a speech about how they are law
abiding...and...slow to anger people (Ellison, 275). Ideally, he thought his speech
would make the crowd see reason in the situation and stop rioting against the law
enforcement. However, the chaos of the crowd ends up changing the meaning of his
speech and influencing him negatively. Instead, the change in meaning causes his
speech to rile them up even more to the point that they attack the police officer. The
situation results because the protagonist is too idealistic and tries to take control
without knowing what the people want. Like Mr. Cogito, he is unbalanced and leans
towards the Quixote side, mostly characterized by a sense of delusional idealism

Introduction When we talk about robotic and warfare, it s like we are focusing on
military robots. First of all there is need to understand what a robot is; it is a
programmable machine that can sense and interact with its environment.
Consequently, military robots are often viewed as remote controlled moveable
gargets, which are designed specifically for military use. Many of the robotic
controlled systems are currently in use while others are under way to be
developed. The origin of military robots can be traced back to the Second World
War and Cold War periods. Despite The fact that the use of robots in warfareis a
traditional topic of science fiction, it is currently under research as it is considered
to be a possible channel of fighting wars in future. There are believes among the
soldiers that the future of present warfare would be handled by automated systems
(Sharkey, 2012). Therefore, this paper will first try to find clarifications on what
current roboticists visualize in the future warfare. This can be done better by
identifying the stakeholders and their responsibilities towards the future of robotic
warfare. Moreover, the paper will highlight the need of an autonomous system,
determine the impacts of warfare robots and finally identify those responsible for
future killings caused by robotic systems.
If we can assess the nature of military men today, it is clear that they have a lot of
Ethics And Social Responsibilty Assignment
ETHICS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY ASSIGNMENT
1.1 A stakeholder of a company is an individual or group which either; is hurt by, or
profits from, the enterprise; or whose rights can be abused or must be regarded by
the organization.(Crane and Matten,2007: 57) In the financial crisis case study, one
can safely identify shareholders, bank customers and government as some of the
stakeholders who are affected by the banking sector crisis triggered by the egoistic
need to make a return on capital and deregulations. Having identified the stakeholders,
the harms and benefits as it has affected these stakeholders are discussed as follows
and future recommendations suggested.
Using the stakeholders theory suggested by Evan and Freeman (1993) cited in
Crane and Matten (2010: 61 62). The two simple principles of corporate rights and
corporate effects were not adhered to. The bank action violates the rights of the
shareholders to information by hidden the truth about the underlying weakness in
their financial position. The fiduciary relationship of bankers with the shareholders
can also be said to have been violated thereby causing negative consequences of loss
of investment, diminishing long term share price and state ownership of banks for
example the Royal Bank of Scotland takeover.
Bank customers were negatively affected through harder to get loan, falling value of
housing market, tight regulation, higher taxation and cut in public expenditures.
However, the benefit is that bank
Monetary Policy in the United States Essay
Monetary Policy in the United States
1.Identify at least three problems facing the FED in achieving its goals of monetary
policy and give your recommendations on how to deal with each of the problems you
list.
Inflation presents a problem for the FED achieving it s goal of price stability. Inflation
is unavoidable as far as the natural progression of an economy is concerned. Supply
and demand also affect inflation. While the FED cannot control supply and demand
of a product, I would suggest that they try to control price stability by creating
regulations of what a company can charge related to the supply and value of a
product. A high unemployment rate negatively affects the FED s goal of a high
employment rate. The employment rate is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3.Explain how changes in reserve requirements and the discount rate affect the
operations of banks and other depository institutions.
Changes in reserve requirements and the discount rate affect the operations of banks
and other depository institutions by changing the amount of actual funding that they
have available to them. If they are required to hold more actual money, they may
have less financial instruments such as gold to back up the value of the money. If the
discount rate fluctuates, banks may have to adjust interest rates on their loans to
compensate for the money they are gaining or losing.
4.Explain why the FED cannot set intermediate targets in terms of both monetary
aggregates and interest rates.
The FED can only pursue one target at any given time. For example, if they are
targeting interest rates, exchange rates will fluctuate and vice versa. The FED s
influence over real interest rates is weaker than that of nominal interest rates and
stabilizing the economy is more important than stabilizing interest rates.
5.Update the case information by using at least two (2) data sources in addition to the
text.
Modern monetary policy does not involve gold as much as it used to in the past. In
1968, the United States reneged on it s guarantee to pay in gold and effectively
removed itself
What Made Gorbachev s Leadership And Negotiations...
IDENTIFICATIONS AND EVALUATION OF SOURCES
The focus of this investigation will be the question of What made Gorbachev s
leadership and negotiations successful with the US in ending the Cold War
compared to past Soviet Leaders? and will analyze his actions during his leadership
of the Soviet Union. This investigation will focus solely on his actions, policies,
and negotiations with the U.S., and differences between Gorbachev s terms as
leader compared to pass Soviet leaders. My first source will be a primary source,
Gorbachev, Mikhail. Gorbachev Letter to Reagan. Letter to Ronald Reagan. 28 Oct.
1987. MS. N.p., which is a letter written from Gorbachev to Reagan. The second
source will be History.com Staff. Perestroika and Glasnost. History.com. A E

by History.com, which discuss Perestroika and Glasnost.
Gorbachev, Mikhail. Gorbachev Letter to Reagan. Letter to Ronald Reagan. 28 Oct.
1987. MS. N.p.
This source could be valuable to historians looking at the question because it is a
primary source written by Gorbachev written in 1987, two years after coming to
power. That means it allows historians to see the goals that Gorbachev had wanted to
achieve during his leadership. It also gives historians an idea of the things that
Gorbachev has already achieved when negotiating policies in Moscow when stating
presented new evidence that our relations have entered a dynamic period.
Ethical Issues In Payday Loans
I.LEGAL ISSUES
If the company unlawfully overcharges clients on payday loans, there could be
lawsuits from those clients. Knowing that there could be potential lawsuits from
providing payday loans, it should be taken into consideration while the two sides
come to a consensus. This would bring a lot of negative attention towards the
company, which would ruin their reputation. This is what happened to a well known
payday loan company in Ontario, Canada called, Cash Store Financial Services Inc.
They let their clients exceed the amount that they are allowed to borrow and added
additional fees to opening credit or debit cards instead of hiking up interest rates
above the maximum amount. They owed $10 million to their customers, and in 2014,

If you do not make the right call when coming to a consensus, your clients may have
to go to other places in order to get money to pay for their loans. With many
customers being stuck in a cycle of debt, they tend to turn towards non profits in
order to seek advice on how to pay back these loans. A popular one in the UK,
StepChange Debt Charity, has helped thousands of clients with their payday loan
issues. Over the years, they have seen a dramatic increase with the amount of
people that they have to help. From 2011 to 2012 the charity saw a 109 percent
increase in the number of its clients with payday loans, (Fendland Citizen, 2013).
This huge increase shows how much of a negative impact payday loans can have
on people. When they are overcharged by payday lenders, it causes them to look to
other places for help with these loans. This charity gives advice and loans money to
people just so that they are able to pay the payday loans
Champions Of The World Cup
Champions of the World. My dad had grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and
pulled us in close with tears in his eyes, whispering Were going to watch Italy win
the fucking World Cup! and amidst the 90,000 loyal german fans around us I
wondered if that was the first time I ever heard him swear. Rather then jumping
around and celebrating, we embraced in a truly passionate hug and I could feel the
sweat on the back of his jersey, as if he had just fought for two hours. We watched
Italy battle Germany for 118 minutes before Fabio Grosso curled a left footer home
and broke the deadlock. My father purchased tickets to two games six months in
advance of the biggest soccer tournament in the world, Italy versus Czech
Republic, and the World Cup final. On July 5th, 2006 at a fan fest in Munich, my
brother, father and I sported our team Italy jerseys and cheered as our team
conquered the German squad on their own soil. I remember going through the
ticket gates of Olympiastadion, with a rapidly beating heart, praying to God that
our tickets were real, and that we would be allowed in the gates. The sun was fast
descending as we made our way to our seats and awaited kickoff. Seven minutes in,
the french side struck first after Zenidene Zidane converted a penalty kick, which was
cheaply awarded after Florent Malouda dove in the box, appealing to the referee
with his arms flailing around, despite being in the second tier, we could see there was
no contact on the apparent foul. The

Health And Fitness Essays. Developing Physical Fitness Essays The Benefits Of Physical Fitness

  • 1. Health And Fitness Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of health and fitness can be both challenging and rewarding. The intricacies of this topic demand a comprehensive understanding of various aspects, ranging from physical well-being to mental health and lifestyle choices. Assembling a coherent and informative essay requires not only a solid grasp of the subject matter but also the ability to articulate ideas effectively. One of the challenges lies in navigating the vast and ever-evolving field of health and fitness. Staying updated with the latest research findings, trends, and emerging issues is crucial to producing an essay that reflects the current landscape. Additionally, presenting information in a manner that is accessible to a diverse audience, whether they are well-versed in the topic or approaching it for the first time, adds another layer of complexity. Moreover, striking the right balance between scientific rigor and engaging writing is essential. The essay should be informative, yet not overwhelm the reader with technical jargon. It should inspire a commitment to healthier living without sounding preachy. Achieving this delicate equilibrium requires careful consideration of language, tone, and structure. Furthermore, addressing the multifaceted nature of health and fitness involves delving into the psychological and social dimensions alongside the physical aspects. Discussing topics such as motivation, mental resilience, societal influences, and cultural perspectives expands the scope of the essay but also demands a nuanced approach. In conclusion, while writing an essay on health and fitness may pose challenges, it offers a platform to explore and communicate vital information that can positively impact lives. • 4. Field Of Dreams Film Analysis The movie Field of Dreams came out in 1989 and was directed by Phil Alden Robinson and story written by W.P. Kinsella. The movie is about a guy named Ray Kinsella, and he lives in Iowa with his wife Annie and daughter Karin, with their yard being a farm to produce crops to make money. One day when Ray was out on the farm, he heard a voice saying If you build it, he will come . He went inside to tell Annie, but they didn t know what it meant. A few days later, he still kept hearing the voice say If you build it he will come , and they imagined a baseball field in the middle of his farm and crops and saw Shoeless Joe Jackson. Ray then thought that if he builds a baseball field, Shoeless Joe Jackson might come back to play again. Ray ripped out a bunch of his crops to build this baseball field. He waited and waited and didn t see Shoeless Joe Jackson yet. Ray and Annie were losing a lot of money from having fewer crops and needed to sell their home. Then, when Ray and Annie were talking about money, Karin came in the room and said there was a man standing on Ray s field, and it was Shoeless Joe Jackson. After that, Shoeless Joe Jackson invited the rest of his team to play, but there was one problem, only Ray, Annie, and Karin can see the dead baseball players.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ray was not invited because he had a family to stay with and he didn t talk to the catcher yet. The catcher was his father when he was younger and Ray introduced John Kinsella to Annie and Karin. John asks Ray if they are in heaven and he says no it s Iowa, but it is like heaven because dreams come true there, hence the title Field of Dreams. After that, Ray and John shake hands and John says goodbye. Ray calls John back before he leaves and asked if they can have a catch, and they did. The movie ends with cars on the road traveling towards the field to watch like Karin and Terrence had
  • 5. How Hormonal Factors Affect The Behaviors Within The... Body Hormonal factors Hormonal factors have a strong influence on the behaviors within the parent offspring conflict, especially within the realm of begging. This factor is important because of the mother s ability to change the hormonal contact that the offspring will receive within development or within the egg. The hormonal factors that will be discussed are the different levels of testosterone, other androgens influences, parental influence on yolk hormones, and differences in male and female yolk androgens. There is considerable evidence indicated that testosterone can be involved in different levels of effort in begging. In a research article published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society: Biological Sciences, the higher the testosterone the more begging behavior is observed and the increase of resource success from the parents. This could show that there is a potential trade off in testosterone mediated begging behavior. It could also indicate that the endocrine system has some control over this offspring behavior and therefore begging could be part of the honest signaling models, reflecting the need of the offspring honestly. In such a case, the parent offspring conflict is lessened by the honesty of the offsprings signal, benefiting the parent s fitness as well as the offspring s fitness (Goodship, 2011). Androgens are involved in the environmental plasticity of begging in both the parent and the offspring. These interactions probably occur within the egg,
  • 6. Circadian Rhythms And Sleep Deprivation This was a very interesting assignment; I have learned some important things on this topic. The topics are on circadian rhythms disorders and sleep deprivation. To start out on circadian rhythms disorders this is what I have learned. Circadian rhythms are regulated by a part of the hypothalamus called the suprachiasmatic nucleus. One s alertness, core body temperature, moods, learning efficiency, blood pressure, metabolism, and pulse rate all follow these circadian rhythms. Circadian rhythms lead to sleep deprivation. Circadian rhythms affect one s body not allowing one to get the correct sleep and time of sleep one is need to function properly. Circadian rhythms disorders is simply a disruption in one s circadian rhythms which is a name given for one s internal body clock that regulates ones 24 hour cycle of biological processes. There are patterns of brain wave activity, hormone production, cell regeneration and other biological things that go along with ones 24 hour cycle.() The circadian rhythm is very important in analyzing ones sleep pattern like when they are a sleep pattern like when they are a sleep and when they are awake. One s normal circadian clock is based on light dark times over 24 hours.() This disorder can be caused by several different factors, a list of these factors are as followed; Different shift work, pregnancy, time zone changes, medications and changes in our sleep pattern like staying up late or sleeping in late. It has also been
  • 7. Jennifer Heap Research Paper She s not your traditional author by any means, but her work could be be considered poetry. A solo artist known for the group Frou Frou and her song Hide and Seek , meet my favorite author, Imogen Jennifer Heap. Born December 9, 1977 in Essex, Imogen Heap for the most part is self taught and is a huge success. Imogen defied the unwritten rule of solo acts by instead of making a name for herself in a group then leaving to do their own thing, Imogen did the opposite. She was born in the rural part of Essex to a businessman and a future art therapist. 12 years after Imogen was born, her parents divorced. At the young age of 13, Heap could already play piano, cello, and clarinet. She attended the Quaker Friends School and there she self taught herself how to produce music on Atari computers after she could not get along with her music teacher. At 16, she wanted to produce orchestral music. As part of her studies, she recorded pop demos that caught the attention of managers that believed she should go into the studio. In 1996, Heap began working with an experimental pop band called Acacia. She was never a real member of the band, just a guest vocalist. One of the band members would play an important part in the future, and one of Acacia s songs will pop up later on.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was received very well, but it that was ended due to Universal taking over and discontinuing her contract. Later on, she and Guy Sigsworth who was a member of Acacia went on to form the musical group Frou Frou. They released their only album Details in 2002. The album featured one of Acacia s songs, Maddening Shroud , which was covered by Frou Frou. Their song Let Go was featured in the Garden State soundtrack and the duo picked up popularity, but unfortunately only after the two disbanded because of yet again, the contract was
  • 8. Image Processing and Recognition Preprocessing It required a lot of study on previous work and some study of related topics which uses a little bit same technique to process their features for recognizing a person. Most of the literatures were based on palm image processing and some of the books and research papers were based on face recognition. As such, a lot of research work has been done by Chinese researchers so far. A series of researches gave me a set of methods and a set of features to be selected among them. This research also requires depth knowledge of image processing. Fetching out each position of the palm image through the reading it pixel by pixel. Some kinds of reading patterns of image should be crystal clear in the mind while working with the features of this topic. There are various useful books also available on image processing provides knowledge of different methods. Which one would be better, could be decided after discussion with my guide. 1. Document Representation On the basis of the study of previous researches, I had a great collection of previous research papers (published by others) and related books. Before getting to start with the feature selection, document representation has been done with the help of power point presentation. This includes a systematic approach to represent this research work. This gets start with the introduction, overall structure of the topic, previous researches done by others, reason behind my research, introduction of new features
  • 9. Essay On Staying In Oakland Staying in Oakland will be the best solution financially. Oakland has a booming economy that continues to grow at a rapid pace. Many new companies setting up headquarters in Oakland, such as Uber, are making the prices of living in Oakland rise higher and higher because many rich tech people are moving in rapidly. As a result, Oakland is becoming a much nicer place than it once was. By staying put, the Raiders would benefit from more expensive tickets due to Oakland becoming a wealthy city. Also, the Raiders fan base in the Alameda County is second to none, as they have been selling out games for years. This will also help drive up the ticket prices because there will be lots of demand for the tickets, thus raising the prices even further.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By moving there, you will be losing money in the long run. Initially, it will be more profitable than staying in Oakland because most of the stadium funding will be from the casino tycoons and tickets for the first season there will be at an all time high. But, after the first season, less and less people will come to games because the novelty of the Raiders in Vegas will wear off and Las Vegas isn t a football town. There aren t many true sports fans in Vegas who will come to every game faithfully like residents of the Alameda County do. A great example of this is when the Rams moved to Los Angeles last season. Everybody was extremely excited for the Rams coming to LA and as a result, ticket prices boomed and the Rams were one of the most profitable teams in the NFL. But, as the season progressed, less and less people went to the games, and the Rams began to self destruct, firing their coach mid season. So, in the long run the Raiders would be making more money by not moving to Vegas. Staying in Oakland will be the best thing to do for the fans as
  • 10. Mature Adults With the influence of the media children are exposed to so much information so early in life but don t know how to deal with this information because they aren t fully mature enough to handle it. From the time children are in middle school the media has already given them an education on current politics, world crisis like ebola and the syrian refugees, or current trends like dance moves and challenges that can endanger them because they don t understand where they re own limits lie. They act inappropriately about these topics because they aren t mature enough to handle the information appropriately. What are the signs of a mature child ready to hear about serious issues like mental health and world issues? Such as if a child has a firm sense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mature adults use knowledge to deal with situations and not rely upon strong emotions. A child will easily blow up when not granted immediate satisfactions like a toy or candy but, as they grow up they can delay that gratification with reasoning and logic. Delayed gratification, self control and patience all go hand in hand with knowledge because to have all of those things you need to reason with yourself using knowledge such as I can t eat this donut I am on a diet, but I can have it if I exercise. . When dealing with a difficult situation, a mature adult will calmly assess the situation and use knowledge to deal with it instead of a child or an immature adult who will get angry and shout at not being able to solve the issue. Knowledge goes hand in hand with many other things such as patience, self control and delayed gratification. A mature adult must have patience, selflessness and stay humble when complemented or insulted. Children don t have these qualities and that s why it is so hard for them to take in the information from the internet without proper guidance. In conclusion, mature people can wait and act upon love and knowledge and not upon their own immediate
  • 11. Functionalist Perspective Of Education The opening to chapter 13 begins with the experiences of various families that have different problems with education that led them to the conclusion of homeschooling. Education contributes to what is known as the credential society that we have today, as the degrees earned in education determine jobs that people are eligible for. The certification that education provides a person is used as evidence that the individual is capable of certain tasks and has certain skills. The more developed a nation, the more extensive an education that they provide their people, and this trend is seen across Most Industrialized, Industrializing, and Least Industrialized Nations. Education is seen in many different perspectives, especially amongst sociologists. Functionalists focus on the major functions that education serves, such as teaching of knowledge and skills, cultural transmission of values, social integration, social placement, and mainstreaming. The conflict perspective, on the other hand, focuses on how education reproduces the social class structure through unequally funding and having schools exclusive to the elite. This is while the symbolic interactionist s perspective focuses on the interaction of the classroom and how student performance typically conforms to the expectations that the teacher has over them. Like everything else in the world, education isn t perfect by far, as there are many problems, such as mediocrity, grade inflation, social promotion, fake data, and

During the speech, I did some items that were a little distracting through the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I had some awkward pauses, bad transitions, some um s, and a little stutteringthroughout the speech. If you look at the speech I tendto stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival Diwali I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am explaining. Another thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the speech, the transitions are a little rough and not as smooth. During the transition when I switch from talking about the celebrations to the language I say, with all these celebrations it tends to bring many religions and languages together doesn t really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother. Stuttering is also a part of the speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the speech, I stutter during different parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about the different traditions when eating Indian food. I say, some of the traditions when people eat in India are well we all we eat on our hands, which is a little annoying. During the speech, I also said um s during the speech. When citing my source on languages I said some ums, repeating the citation from the notecard. During the speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments, saying some um s, bad transitions, and some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next speech. During the speech, I was also a good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice projection, my hand moment was consistent, I was always facing the audienceand held eye contact, and had facial expressions to emphasize the importance of a topic. Right off the bat when I was explaining my citation saying According to the U.S Census Bureau there are alone 5.7% Asian s in the United States, I was pointing my hands to make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers. Another thing I did well during the speech was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the speech

So, in this essay I have taken AMAZON company and yet to discuss about their accounting practice which influence the market valuation. In addition, issues of accountability, representation and control also to be discussed briefly in accordance with their accounting practice. ACCOUNTING: The process of observing and providing the financial statistics of an organisation which is useful for customers for managing and to create economic decisions. The process of identifying, measuring and communicating financial information about an entity to permit informed judgements and decisions by users of information. (McLaney and Atrill, 2002:1). Accounting data is unbiased and neutral, which helps to determine the level of excellence and different factors that influence the company s performance. This point has been explained clearer by (Ezzamel Willmott, 2004:784) Accounting information is an impartial and neutral representation data, which is correctly used, can reduce unwanted ambiguities and can reduce waste in organizing supplies . Helicopter parenting is the newest trend in today s society, it is a way of raising children in a very stern, controlled, and structured manner. Helicopter parents control their children s lives with strict rules and often complete tasks for the children that are unnecessary all to protect their children. This child raising strategy most often incorporates an element of babying , such as making their teenager s lunch for them every day, doing their child s homework and projects for them, and not letting their child go anywhere alone even when they are in well into their teen years. Children who have helicopter parents never learn to be accountable for their actions because their parents constantly did everything for them. They have a fear of failure, a lack of confidence, and co dependency issues (Blau). The children also, as a result of being sheltered by their parents, have decreased confidence and self esteem, undeveloped coping skills, increased anxiety, a sense of entitlement, and undeveloped life skills. These children are just not capable of doing things for themselves and this leads to many issues later in life. However, helicopter parenting is not always a horrible thing. Studies have shown that physical abuse has dropped astonishingly, from 1992 to 2011 the rates dropped by 55%. The same thing happened to counts of sexual abuse, it fell by 64% through the same year range. The number of abductions by strangers fell by 51% from 1997 to 2012, and motor vehicle deaths of children under 13 years of age fell 43% in the last decade (Baer). This study equates the drops to the rise of helicopter parents. Although counts of physical harm have dropped, an in depth study was done by Florida State University that surveyed around 460 college students about their life satisfaction levels. Those who had been raised by parents who gave them a larger sense of autonomy reported higher levels of satisfaction in life and those who reported having helicopter parents reported low levels of self efficacy, and higher levels of anxiety and depression ( Helicopter Parents ). So, even though accidents and physical harm to children have been reduced, the psychological harm is quite prominent and will follow the child throughout their

Well honey, it costs to much, we can t afford it. But why mommy? I I don t know hon The debate concerning where California s water supply should go, is between allowing farmers to have it, or sending it to streams to help the Chinook Salmon. Since California s drought has been going on for 5 years now, where the water should go is a great concern to most. If the unassigned water in California is not sent to the farmers then jobs will be lost, food prices will rise even more so than they already are, and the groundwater and surface water will be negatively affected. Agricultural related jobs accounts for about 9.3% of jobs in the U.S, but in reality all jobs rely on agriculture. Restaurants depend on farmers to grow fruit so that way they can use it in their delicious desserts, and the steak that they served, a farmer raised that. So if the water is sent towards the streams, then jobs will be lost. • 17. Summary On Women s Decline Chapter 8 Summary of Women s Decline as Clergy Due to the Early Church Fathers God has ordained female pastors from eternity past. That part is not a problem for God. The problem is with us, with the church. We are slow in binding and loosing on earth what God has already bound and loosed in heaven (Mat 16:19; 18:18; Dr. Martin Hanna). At the Council of Nicaea, 325, bishops were given power of veto over who could become bishops in their respective areas. This in turn accelerated the concentration of their authority.98 By 354, the church fathers appear to take on a duel personality when it came to women serving in the church. On one side, women were inferior if they were married. On the other side, unmarried women (virgins) could possess autonomy and equality with men. However, this only pertained to spiritual equality and did not carry over to social structure.21 Under the rule of Constantine the Great, increased centralization of religious authority expanded the wealth and prestige of the men who administrated cleric authority.99 In addition, the emperor s authority became involved in the development of the church and resulted in the church being involved in high political decisions. This action furthered the influence of the of the emperor over the election of bishops and church policy. These developments placed church officials in the position of having to compete for the emperor s favor.99 It was decided at the Council of Laodicea, 354, that female

First, the concept of namespaces will be described along with an overview of the default name spaces available in the Linux operating system. The Linux Network Name Space is a key enabler for some high profile virtualization technologies including OpenStack and Docker. Linux Name Spaces Linux consists of the following six namespaces: Network Network Namespace PID Process Namespace Mount Filesystem Namespace User User Namespace IPC Interprocess Communication Namespace UTS Host and NIS Namespace Linux namespaces can be traced back to early UNIX technologies called chroot, process jails controlled where access is controlled with cgroups. The concept of a namespace is to isolate processes from other processes on the system. This concept evolved into namespaces that are created with clone() system call and manipulated with the setns() and unshare() system calls. The clone() system call is used when creating child namespace from a parent or root namespace. As the name would suggest this creates a clone of an existing stack. The setns() system call is used to join a namespace. The unshare() system call is used for moving processes into a namespace, as the name suggests the process

The media may be new, but the punitive messages and appetites remain the same today s tech simply provides new outlets for the worst behaviour (Gaskill). For over 19 years, social media sites have changed the way humans communicate. Social media sites have affected individuals in positive and harmful ways. These sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat in some way have used witch hunting to harm others. According to the Merriam Webster, witch hunting is the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (such as political opponents) with unpopular views . The argument is made that the communication among others on social media has drastically increased and has led to thousands of witch hunts. Social media is similar to the events of the 1692 Salem witch trials and the written play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Social Media is a form of communication in which a person shares information, personal ideas, and thoughts online. The foundation of social media began in 1997 when the first social media site Six Degrees was developed. Since 1997, social media has become an iconic name and has become part of this generation s conversation. There are over 100 million people using social media to gain access to the digital world, with over 20 social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram (Milanovic 1). Roughly 80 percent of teens and 20 percent of adults use social media daily and almost half of the users were bullied or criticized for a single comment. Comments that include discrimination, sexism, or political beliefs can be retweeted to thousands in a matter of hours. Accusations go viral, globally, within hours, and instead of having dozens of angry voices baying for your blood, you have tens of thousands (Haley 1). Although social media has made it easier to communicate these sites, make it easier to be critical or prejudiced to others online instead of face to face. Social media has been widely used in the United States and the rest of the world. These sites influenced the way we communicate, but, what about our health? According to the National Center for Biotechnology, researchers have found that the use of social media has increased the number of psychiatric disorders

The desire for social acceptance, whether recognized or denied, is part of human culture. People yearn for it, obsess over it, and alter themselves to obtain it. Humans can spend their entire lives unsuccessfully attempting to achieve a level of social status they believe will validate them. Acceptance is denied for superficial reasons varying from clothing to cliques. However, it is also denied due to innate elements of personality. Teachers can take this curiosity to be offensive and oftentimes the student is viewed negatively by their peers due to an adoption of the teacher s negative attitude, thus beginning the social stigma (Johnson 27). Another standard, educational treatment of gifted students is to separate them from the class. Because the gifted student has surpassed the majority the teacher isolates the child with a separate advanced activity and returns to the majority. In these situations the gifted student and his/her peers become accustomed to this different status. The gifted student becomes an outsider in relation to the group by default, due to his/her above average abilities. Educational treatment of the gift denies the student the opportunity to learn to socially interact at a young age. Gifted students never become accustomed to peer interaction because this system is perpetuated upward throughout the grade levels. And unfortunately, in an educational atmosphere where grades are a primary focus, poor interpersonal skills are more likely to be tolerated than poor work related skills (Wolfle 3). It becomes a norm for the student to work alone and his/her social and psychological needs are ignored. People such as Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, and Sherman Alexie, in their stories Learning to read and write , Learning to Read , and Superman and Me they discuss how they were able to resist an oppressive society in order to achieve their dreams. Although they lived in different times, they shared the same desire to become educated. Frederick Douglass was born a lifelong slave in 1818 Talbot County, Maryland. Unfortunately, Douglass was born at a time where it was forbidden for a person of color to know how to read and write. But despite being dominated by slavery, Douglass was determined to learn how to read and write and eventually develop techniques for this purpose. For instance, in the story, Douglass wrote The plan which I adopted.... was that of making friends of all the little white boys whom I met in the street. As many as I could, I converted into teachers. With their kindly aid....I finally succeeded in learning to read. (Douglass. 125). As time passed, Douglass also taught himself to write by going to the lumber yard and writing down the words the carpenter would write on the timber as well as copying the handwriting from the little son of his enslaver. Douglass believed this was his pass to freedom. Sherman Alexie was born in 1916 on an Indian reservation in eastern Washington state. He was ridiculed at school for being smart and wanting to learn. In the Indian world, those who
  • 33. Essay On Ivb precision. On IVB, the ratio of performance between SP to DP is around 2, which is consistent with the SIMD width ratio of these two precisions. For KNC, the SIMD widths in SP and DP are 16 and 8 respectively, but a performance gap of 3 to 4 times in SP and DP is observed, which is well beyond the ratio of SIMD width. This is because the performance of where clauses for WS/DMMPs schemes on KNC is sensitive to the SIMD width as described in the section of SW26010 optimization. The wider the SIMD vectorization is supported, the better performance efficiency can be obtained. Unlike IVB and KNC, SW26010 has the same SIMD width of 4 in both SP and DP and no auto vectorization is supported by the compiler on this platform so far. Thus, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is observed that on IVB the averaged floating point performance can reach to as high as 45% of the peak performance in both single and doubleprecision. Using KNC as a standalone many core processor results in an averaged performance of 406.62 Gflops/s in single precision, which is above 20% of the theoretical peak. But the averaged double precision performance reduces dramatically to 111.63 Gflops/s, which is just over 10% of the peak performance. When KNC is used as a coprocessor, which is a much more common case, the cost of data transfer between the main memory and the device memory should be included. And the results, shown as KNC+offload indicate that the performance drop due to the data transfer is substantial; only around 6% to 8% of the peak performance is sustained in double and single precision respectively. As a many core processor, SW26010 does not need the data transfer between the main memory and the device memory, and the performance is satisfactory as compared to the KNC in offload mode, especially in the single precision case. The basic idea of AutoWM is to modularize the conversion processes of WRF microphysics as building blocks and use the platform specific code segments to reconstruct well optimized microphysics codes. • 34. Defying Social Constraints in A Doll s House Essay I really liked this play along with the other ones we have read in class. However, this plays seems to stand out to me because it takes a feminist point of view. It is always good to go inside the role of a woman and see how they feel and act upon their own thoughts. Good literature helps us to learn about how other people think and act. Moreover, when we can relate the characters actions to our lives or the world around us the meaning is more personal and beneficial. For some reason, I feel like many women out there really do feel like Nora. They are trapped in economic circumstances because it is the safe way to go. Many times woman do not truly love their husbands and are rather there just to live a safe and comfortable life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s sense, she is a stay home mom and in the Victorian times, that s what women were supposed to do. However, Edna felt the exact opposite way and she even states this by saying, I would sacrifice my life, but not myself for my children. Edna was just tired of being her husbands possession and keeping up with the social conventions at the time. As a result, she searched internally within herself to escape the cage she was living in. Through the process of self realization Edna decides to move into her own pigeon house. She leaves her kids and husband to live on her own in order to not be anybody s possession, but just her self. The pigeon house allows her to dare and defy social constraints without loosing her social respectability. Edna followed her heart rather than reason, which is one of the themes of the novel. Still Edna felt caged and the only place that had no boundaries or restrictions was the sea. Rather a selfish way to escape, it was the only thing left for her to do, so she commits suicide. This is quite the contrary from the relationship between Song Liling and Rene Gallimard in M. Butterfly or Anna and Gourav in The Lady With The Pet Dog. Despite the sex differences between in M. In the reading, Hidden Intellectualism, by Gerald Graff, a professor at the University of Illinois Chicago, he touches on the subject of being street smart but not doing too hot in school. He argues that if students could be as interested in school, and as book smart as they were street smart, then they would have the opportunity to thrive and excel in school all while enjoying it, he even goes on to use himself as an example of taking an anti intellectual and becoming a great intellectual. Graff goes on the introduce the idea of taking non intellectual topics or objects and seeing them through academic eyes which would allow students to become engaged in the learning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes this is to blame for the harsh separation between street smart and book smart, because although they should both tie in with each other like the way they function in the real world, they are frowned upon instead of being encouraged in today s academic setting. Diverse topics, topics that students find that their interested in, not only limited to bland stereotypical subjects should most definitely be allowed and highly encouraged in today s academic realm, because truth be told, not everyone wakes up and says, I am so excited to read Macbeth by WIlliam Shakespeare and write about it like there s no tomorrow, it s just uncommon. There are more than 2.1 million students on 114 campuses, in community colleges in California alone according to the California Community College Chancellor s Office, and we are all different, but expected to learn the same way. How does that make any sense? What one students might find interesting, the other might detest. For example, I enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck whereas my peers despised it. This ties back to what Graff had stated about students being allowed to write and read texts or subjects which are of their interest as long as they are viewed through academic eyes. I agree with the idea that street smarts are more intellectual than book smarts, and that students individual interests can be more effective than typical learning material. Babies tend to cry while dogs scratch the door and whine wanting their loved one or owner. Identifying dog behavior helps us identify our own abilities and experiences that affect our behavior. We can utilize the test done upon the dogs to advance the transition of an emotional bond to an attachment bond as the infant grows. The test however concluded that it was separation anxiety that caused the whining and the scratching on the door. What about the baby? They have the characteristics of acting like a human because their owners have instilled their values into their upbringing. Social media is inexpensive and user friendly, therefore many individuals use this form of communication to socially interact with family and friends who live thousands of miles away (Hertlein 382). The theory was first put forward by a Canadian American sociologist Erving Goffman. Media framing, to put it bluntly, is a term that points to a presence of a certain bias in any media outlets output. All choices made in a newsroom collectively form the frame through which media decides to show the world to the audiences. Everything matters: Covering one event and ignoring another, covering one event more than the other, deciding what words to use to cover an event, what photographs or video clips to include, whom to give a voice, etc. At the same time, framing theory goes far beyond newsroom policies. Framing is not necessarily a delibirate choice. Journalists themselves look at the world through frames: their education, upbringing, gender, ethnical background, knowledge of the issue, and so on. Audience members apply their own frames as well, not just to media content, but to everything they hear and see. In 1993 Entman employed Framing theory approach to analyze the coverage of... The Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother. Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and politician. He hypothesized a new idea of religionon how gods are created: A war leader or king dies, and is later idolized after his or her death. For example, if a group is going into battle, then they will pray to the leader to help with their hardships and begin to venerate the figure. This particular work was written in honor of nobles, for love, or to commemorate current events. Throughout the selection, Thor and Loki in Giantland , the type of writing used is syllabic in structure and utilizes kennings. Moreover, kennings are periphrases that can appear as metaphors, but also are able to give the effect of riddles. In addition, another literary device used is dialogue. Since his legs are not even, Mr. Cogito goes through the world staggering slightly (Zbigniew, 29 31). Similarly, the protagonist is often unbalanced in his idealistic notions and practicality of the situation. For example, during the eviction scene, the protagonist tries to calm the angry crowd by giving a speech about how they are law abiding...and...slow to anger people (Ellison, 275). Having identified the stakeholders, the harms and benefits as it has affected these stakeholders are discussed as follows and future recommendations suggested. Using the stakeholders theory suggested by Evan and Freeman (1993) cited in Crane and Matten (2010: 61 62). The two simple principles of corporate rights and corporate effects were not adhered to. The bank action violates the rights of the shareholders to information by hidden the truth about the underlying weakness in their financial position. The fiduciary relationship of bankers with the shareholders can also be said to have been violated thereby causing negative consequences of loss of investment, diminishing long term share price and state ownership of banks for example the Royal Bank of Scotland takeover.
