Blast ratings – Blast rating criteria varies depending on the environmental criteria of the individual installation and is normally identified in the Risk/Blast Hazard Assessment of the rig/platform. Proximity to Zone 0 locations (drill hole, pump rooms, etc.) will dictate the overall blast exposure to the modules. Recently ABS has required blast ratings for accommodation Modules based on these required Blast/Risk assessments per the ABS MODU Rules (2012). We consider this in our consultations with the client in the early design and planning stages, however, the typical requirement is .15-.25 Bar and most of our A60 fleet exceeds this as they are rated to a .3 - .5 Bar.
Industrial Hygiene –
Our deepwater fleet is built with all non-porous surfaces for improved hygiene and for non-combustibility requirements.
We have recently added a non-permeable removable mattress cover that prevents bacteria and germs from entering the mattresses and spreading from crew-to-crew.These can be removed and cleaned or changed at crew shifts.
Our dual HVAC system is a mini-split design system utilizes a ductless system. This system utilizes a filter (serviceable/clean) to recirculate in each room verses moving air via duct throughout rooms in the module. This minimizes the spread of potential vires/bacteria throughout the module and eliminates the duct work that can hold and breed the bacteria to spread from crew to crew over time.
Often we provide as part of the TLQ complex a medic room which can serve to quarantine a sick crew member to isolate from the shared quarters.
