The Defeat Of The Spanish Armada
At the start of the attack, the Spanish Armada made way towards England, but word traveled
fast about their location. When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast
of England and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to
spread word of the arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally
reached the Queen (Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have
inside information about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England
assemble their own ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In
Preparation for the near hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay
for the necessities needed to fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. During this time
another campaign was going on, which consumed most of the funds, but despite that the Queen
made all of her efforts towards the raising money to help prepare for the anticipated encounter
with Spain (Sharnette). With the English fleet becoming more whole and an actual object, they
were ready to meet Spain s notorious Armada. Queen Elizabeth gave the position of commander
of the fleet to Charles Howard. Howard had great success in being in charge due to delaying the
launch of the Spanish Armada ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). Philip II of Spain
wanted to gain power and restore Catholicism by attacking England

Ground Floor Customer Service and Marketing Department Essay
Ground Floor: Customer Service and Marketing Department
There are a total of 20 workstations.
There are two network printers accessible by all workstations.
The Internet is accessible by all workstations.
Visitors should be able to access to the wireless internet access, wifi.
The network topology best suited for the ground floor is the star topology. A star topology is one
where by each work station or computer peripheral are centrally connected by use of a computer

In this way, when one connection of the network is not working or faulty, it does not affect the rest
of the work stations in the network. This is a big advantage in this type of network.

Ethernet cables are generally used to connect devices on LANs including routers and switches.
Theoritically, ethernet cables can support 100 Mbs or 1000 Mbps maximum bandwidith. This
maximum can not be achieved due to overhead hardware and computer operating system. Ethernet
cables usually support one or more industry standards including Category 5 (CAT 5) and Category
6 (CAT 6).
In this network, CAT 5 ethernet cables are used. CAT 5 ethernet cables are a fifth generation
twisted pair cables and popular of all twisted pairs cables available today because they are both
affordable and support high speeds.
The LAN on the ground floor needs to connect to the internet. For a computer to connect to another
computer on the internet it sends messages in the TCP/IP protocol addressed to another computer
using its IP (Internet Protocol) address.
The program or device that is used to connect to the internet is called a gateway.
A gateway typically performs the following tasks:
Translating between the IP address on the LAN and the IP address on the internet.
Control of the type of information that can be shared/flow by the LAN and the internet
Caching
Logging internet usage

Grace Kelly Research Paper
Grace Kelley to Blake Lively: Hollywood Role Model Queens Think about style, elegance, and
the role model for women in the 1950s. Not only was Grace Kelly a famous movie star with
flawless looks and style, but she was also a philanthropist, a mother and a princess. Now, this is a
rather impressive list of qualities that seems as if it were a fairy tale, a wish list that a child may
put together on their eighth birthday party, and wish for as they blew out the candle. The only
thing is that this was a reality for Grace Kelly in the 1950s until she passed away in the 1980s, this
is also true for Blake Lively aside from the fact that she is not actually married to a prince. Blake
Lively picked up where Grace Kelly left off, making Blake the new queen of poise and grace.
Grace Kelly is still a role model during this time, people still compare a lot of actresses to her
and designers are still trying to embody her essence in clothing, but now Blake has moved in.
Grace Kelly was the role model of her era and set the tone for the future, and now Blake Lively is
the Grace Kelly of our era, and will be setting the tone for the future just as her predecessor did.
Both of these phenomenal women grew up in environments where... Show more content on

Quality and safety are directly tied to the purpose of the goal. Many of the tools and application of
principals that have been assimilated in the alarm management project have been part of the
curriculum at WU MSN program course work. Strategies utilizing lean principals, critical thinking,
data analysis, PDCA cycles are a few of the means used to advance this project. Fundamental to the
role as a patient safety leader is the use of advanced safety, quality, and nursing theory that backs
nursing practice regarding prevention of patient harm. Patient safety findings were brought to the
attention of the clinical alarm teams and the applications of the quality and safety principles were
part of the litmus test for any actions steps.
Essential IV
Consequently, building onto the quality and safety principles, is the use of EBP, strongly present
in the platform for every WU nursing course. The WU program focuses on use of evidence in the
literature and the assessment of the evidence. These principles are demonstrated throughout the
project with prominent use of AACN (2013) evidence based practical guidance kit. Consumption
of science based information to impart practices for alarm management was apparent in teams
participation in the literature reviews and the webinars attended. Discussions and making project
decisions were based on the strength of evidence and was a direct result of the course work from
the MSN and DNP prepared participants.

Romans In Context
The purpose behind this paper is to offer a brief review on a book called Reading Romans in
Context: Paul and Second Temple Judaism . This review will focus on four major components,
first being the editor s information. The editor s information will cover education, any positions
they hold today, and whatever scholarship information that is currently available. The second
thing that will be reviewed will be a concise summary of the major theme of the book followed by
the third, an honest and courteous evaluation of the book. The fourth thing that will be added is a
bibliography at the end of the paper for reference of the book.
One of the first editors on the book s list is Benjamin Blackwell, PhD. He currently holds a position
at the Houston Baptist University where he is in the Department of Theology and School of
Christian Thought. It is in these departments where he helps to teach students with the primary
focus of the New Testament and in Theology. In these classes, he particularly likes to specialize in
helping the students to understand how Christians from different time periods read the Bible
differently and what the importance of the Bible is in both ancient and modern contexts. Dr.
Blackwell s educational background ties well into both his current positions and in his editing
practices. His educational background consists of many degrees, starting with a Doctorate in

Hart s Account Of The Relationship Between Law And Morality
Outline and critically evaluate Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality.
Introduction:
Natural law theorists believe that all law must be morally justified if it can be legitimised as law at
all. Legal positivism means the simple contention that it is in no sense a necessary truth that laws
reproduce or satisfy certain demands of morality, though in fact they have otherwise done so. (Hart,
DATE)
In Hart s eyes, though there may be a congruence between law and morality, it is by no means a
necessary connection. (Hart, DATE)
Hart promotes the need for a clear distinction between law and morality on two levels. Firstly the
Social and hermeneutic level in regards to both law and morality sharing vocabulary in both
structure and function showing that in many societies legal rules will match their moral rules.
Second a logic and hypothetical level Hart believes in the possibility of a legal system existing
without the influence of morality as there are cases were legal systems do not match the moral
grounds of society.( see Austins command theory and the idea of one sovereign ruling all)
(SOURCE)
Hart s idea is this: All one/society needs is a legal system based on the four rules.
This paper will demonstrate how Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality
shows an understanding of how they both work together yet can also work as separate entities. It
will take a specific look into the internal point of view to aid the understanding of why

Empathy And Irony In William Stafford s Poem
People do not have the same destinies. However, though one can not easily understand another
completely, individuals see their futures, even when their thread gets tangled like a jar of jewelry.
Especially during the high school ages, young people are constantly ask about their futures, and
although it is in good nature, the wanderertends to overstep and misunderstand. The first half of the
poem appears to speak to an individual s plan: the attachment to the thread, the necessary
explanation, the questions. Then, the second half seems to connect to the unalterable stream of
life. As Stafford writes, you don t ever let go of the thread, the poem feels more like a death
sentence. Regardless of this, the poem still fastened to one s tactics... Show more content on

Intuition has been a strong factor in my plans for after high school and it can be confusing for
another to understand. It is true, threads are unknowable to outsiders. However, empathy is a way
around the barrier. No one needs to understand everything, but humans need to be less narrow
minded for everyone to flourish. The title is an unqualified fact of life. Using simplistic words, the
title becomes matter of fact. After reading the poem, one would assume the title should include the
word thread because of how symbolic it is throughout the work. Stafford knows this feeling is
universal; the title indicates the reader will understand. Throughout the poem, the tone remains
unvarnished, playing to the logical side of the issue. People will always misunderstand others this
is the way it is.
By writing The Way It Is is second person, Stafford further explores the universal aspect of
explanation. In certain instances, one might think in second person, as possibly reassurance or
motivation. Once one disassociates themselves from montra, it can become more powerful, in a
way. This poem is able to speak to every individual reading it because this is how humans have
broad ideas. There is a unique relationship between the narrator and the reader, when second person
is used. Because second person is used, the reader begins to assume the narrator is an omnipotent
being; they

Sub-Optimization In Healthcare

Sub optimization is an expression that describes a process, procedure or system results in less than
optimal results. (businessdictionary.com, n.d.) It also applies to the manner of focusing on one
component, making alterations to better that component and disregarding how this may affect the
other components. Sub optimization can be thwarted in any organization however, it takes
communication and a clear understanding of the organizations strategic goals.

Why is designing an effective organizational structure vital to the success of an organization?
Businesses require structure to be a successful money making venture. Designing an organization
structure helps the leadership identify what caliper and type of employees that needs to be hired
into the organization. With this in mind it is also important that employee responsibilities are
clearly defined. Each member needs to have a job description and each job is a needed and has its
own slot on the company s organizational chart.
Open communication and ease of flow is essential to a business s success. The organizational
structure should be designed to ensure that interdepartmental and employees have easy and open
lines of communication that are built into the structure. For instance the financial department may
report to both the CFO and President of Sales, because both of these leaders depend on information
and reports provided by the finance team.

Holy, Holy By Peter Ackroyd
Change is constant with a society that is always recreating itself. From the Enlightenment period
to the Industrial Revolution there is a massive difference when comparing these two societies of
their norms and daily life. With the article Holy, Holy, Holy by Peter Ackroyd shows how religion
is interconnected to all levels of life during the 16 Century London. Religionis essentially emotional
and community experience. If an individual does not go to Mass they are alienated from the
community and are not part of the norm. When attending Mass, there are many rituals and
experience from listening to a sermon or singing religious songs. For example, during a Mass a

Special Needs In Special Education
One would think that through the achievements within special education that our culture would be
more willing and understanding of students with special needs. Even with great strides and
progressive steps to improve the experience within the education for students with special needs
society still does not fully understand what challenges students with special needs face daily.
Culture wants to be accepting within its comfort level and does not understand that to help students
with special needs or disabilities one must change to the student s level of understanding and
comfort. Within observations of general classrooms, it is still apparent that teachers want to
accommodate all students, but some are still lacking the understanding and knowledge of how to
modify their teaching style to help students with disabilities to reach their maximum potential.
Culture is still seeing students with disabilities as being limited within their educationnot fully
understanding that each student has different potential and needs specialized instruction (Personal
Communication). Within the course and through field observation the greatest thing that has been
observed is that each special educationstudent is unique, and each has their own academic
achievements and struggles. Within the course one learns that each student has their own
challenges and one also learns that there are many different strategies to teach students with
disabilities. Even though students may be limited within

For A Lady I Know By Countee Cullen
Richard Wright once said, All literature is protest. You can t name a single literary work that is not
protest. The meaning behind this quotes resides in the author s purpose. When an author is telling
a story, they cannot avoid bias and their opinions. The purpose of the author writing, poem or
prose, is to protest the opinions, cultural concepts and ideas that they do not agree with and try to
change people s perception of these ideas. This quotation is valid and provides a compelling
argument because if the author is not trying to change something in the world, even something so
small, when they are writing, then why are they writing? The poem, For a Lady I Know by

when rubbed together one is blue and the other is white. We put one of the wands inside the pail

When we used both wands, the electrometer almost read zero volts throughout the duration of the
experiment. This proves that the negativity of the particles on the blue wand were equal to the
positive charge of the particles on the white wand; so it cancelled each other out. While using
the both wands we encountered an error. The voltage should have been zero when the wands
was out the pail and not touching the pail; however the electrometer reading was 3 volt. This is
most likely due to a random error in measurement due to a faulty electrometer or pail. The
electrometer may have not been sensitive enough to pick up all the charged particles when the
wands were not out the pail we should have repeated this so we can get accurate readings.

Food Preservatives And Its Effects On Food
Food Preservatives Food preservatives are described as natural means or man made chemicals
that are used in foods to prevent them from spoiling. A subgroup of preservatives are food
additives, which differ from preservatives in the way that additives are not only used to lengthen
the life of food, but also to improve taste and appearance. The ultimate goal of preservatives and
additives are to improve the quality and lifespan of food by slowing down the decomposition
process using chemicals or natural methods, such as salt and dehydration. Food preservatives
can be broken down into two basic groups natural and chemical. Natural preservatives are
methods such as sun drying, freezing, or adding other ingredients like honey that essentially
slow down the speed at which food spoils. Chemical preservatives are chemicals added to foods
for the same purpose as natural preservatives are. It is the same with additives; the difference
being that they may be also used to purposely change a food s look and taste. Preservatives and
additives are used in most of foods, especially in our pre packaged meals, whether it be natural or
chemical versions being added. According to historical records, natural methods of preservation,
such as salting or dehydrating, have been around for centuries. When humans began to switch from
hunting and gathering to a more agricultural approach, they needed a way to make food last for
longer periods of time. This became an obvious problem as food

LEEP And Why Is It Done
What is a LEEP and why is it done? A LEEP is done when you have an abnormal cervical cancer
screening result; it is one way of removing the abnormal cells from your cervix. Your
gynecologists dose this by using a thin wire that acts like a scalpel. Electric current is passed
through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix. How is LEEP performed? The
procedure should be done when you are not on your period so that the doctor can have a better
view of your cervix. Most of the time LEEP is done in the doctor s office, this only takes a few
minutes so you should be in and out. To have the procedure done you will be lying on you back
with your legs in stirrups. Then the doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina in the same
way as for a pelvic exam. A local anesthesia will be used so you don t feel pain. This will be given
through a needle attached to a syringe. You are most likely going to feel a slight sting, then a
dull ache or cramp. Then the loop is inserted into your vagina to the cervix. There will be
different sizes and shapes of the loops that will be used. There is a small chance that you may feel
faint during the procedure. If you do feel faint tell your doctor immediately.... Show more content

Female Characters, By John Wyndham
Female characters are influential in John Wyndham s The Chrysalids. In the novel, three women
are of paramount importance in comparison to all others in shaping David s views and opinions:
Sophie, the Sealand woman, and Aunt Harriet. In the society of Waknuk, individuals exhibit
prejudice repeatedly throughout the novel through their own blinkered treatment of deviations.
David Strorm s, a twelve year old boy whose parents brought him up in such lifestyle, interactions
with those three women throughout the novel sways him to have second thoughts about it.
Their dealings with David each have a particular impact on his life. Sophie allows for doubt to
enter David s life for the first time; the Sealand woman expands his views and prompts him to
consider other beliefs different from those of his society; and Aunt Harriet makes him more
conscious of his society s despicable activities and more attentive to it. In John Wyndham s The
Chrysalids, Sophie, the Sealand woman, and Aunt Harriet are instrumental in influencing David s
outlook on society. Sophie allows for doubt to pierce its way into David s life for the first time. At
the start of the novel, when David first meets Sophie, he gets an insight into a deviant s life. She
has proven to be the first blow to efficiently impact David s thoughts and make him question the
authenticity of his society s belief system. It is hind sight that enables me to fix that as the day
when my first small doubts started to germinate.

The Effects Of Obesity On Public Health
Introduction
Obesity is a traditionally first world health problem that is a growing concern throughout the world
because of its negative effects on public health as well as the wider economy.
According to both the WHO and the NHS, an individual s Body Mass Index (BMI), is an
imperfect, yet effective tool for measuring obesity. The WHO definition has determined that a BMI
of 25 29.9 is classified as being overweight, whereas a BMI of 30 34.9 is considered to be a sign of
obesity (World Health Organization, 2014).The NHS goes on to add that it is useful to consider
an individual s waist circumference as fit and muscular people can also have a relatively high
BMI without an excess of fat, and classifies men and women with waist circumferences of 90cm
and 80cm respectively as being at risk for obesity related health conditions (Nhs.uk, 2014).
Obesity must be dealt with early and at the local level. In the London borough of Hammersmith
and Fulham, 20.1% of year 6 children are classified as obese, high compared to the national
average of 18.9%. Conversely, only 13.3% of adults in this borough are obese, much fewer than the
national average of 23.0% (Public Health England, 2014). This high prevalence of childhood
obesity exists despite the area doing well with traditional indicators such as physical activity and
uptake of school lunches. An unpublished 2012 report explained that the greatest risk factors found
were eating practices and familial obesity, although depravity,

Comprehensive Peer Evaluation Paper
2012 Comprehensive Peer Evaluation
The comprehensive peer evaluation of Dixie State was conducted in October 2012. The size and
scope of this evaluation required nine evaluators who worked on campus for a three day period
(VanderStaay et al., 2012, pp. 1 4). Steven L. VanderStaay, who then served as the Vice Provost for
Undergraduate Education at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, chaired
the evaluation committee. Joining VanderStaay were eight academics from universities in Idaho,
Montana, and Washington (VanderStaay et al., p. 4; see Appendix C). Besides the evaluation, the
committee listed 49 persons whom they interviewed in the course of the evaluation (Appendix D).
They also conducted open meetings in which 150 persons were involved, although the names of

Judicial Review Proceedings Essay
Judicial Review Proceedings Introduction ============ Judicial review proceedings exist to
ensure that lower courts and administrative bodies do not act beyond or at variance with their
inherent powers. If they do act in such a way, the reviewing court[1] will take action to rectify.
Where discretionary powers given to administrative bodies are abused, the court will usually grant
an order of certiorari quashing the decision. Generally, this will only be done if some aspect of the
decision making process is corrupt and not because the court merely disagrees with the conclusion
arrived at[2]. If the decision is set aside, then the facts of that particular case have cumulated in the

Examples Of Bias In To Kill A Mockingbird
Bias is defined as prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with
another, usually in a way considered to be unfair . Each and everyone of us have a bias

becomes bias through personal experiences or things they have read or heard. My brother and I

I love Nicholas Sparks movies and I often find myself refusing to open my mind to other

Summary Of Sahar Khalifeh s Wild Thorns
Israel and Palestine have been battling over territory, dominance, and political freedom for many
years. After the Second World War, Israeli forces occupied Palestinian territory, ridding the land of
Arabs. In response, the Palestinian people demanded control over their historic land, but the
Israelis refused to relinquish power over the territory. In a matter of six days, the Jewish Israeli
people conquered the West Bank all the way through to the Sinai Peninsula. After the war, the
Israeli forces continued to take over Palestinian land by putting pressure on them to abandon their
nation. Due to this ongoing conflict, Sahar Khalifeh utilizes violence and social constraints to
explore the lives of Israeli and Palestinian men through vivid diction and descriptive imagery in the
1985 novel Wild Thorns. Throughout the novel, the author discusses how the ideal man is viewed
in Palestinian culture. After the war, in 1972 Nablus, the status quo for both Israeli and Palestinian
men changed. For example, radicals such as Basil, Usama, and the rest of his guerrilla fighters
believe that the ideal man defends his honor and dignity, and he refuses to tolerate a dictatorship
and submission despite the consequences. On the other hand, men like Adil and Zuhdi stand firm in
their belief in which men tend to their family, their priority; they soon become indifferent towards
the resistance movement against the Israeli regime. Khalifeh uses these men, in extreme scenarios,
to allow readers

Colonial Literature Summary
Colonial Literature began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World
benefit the readers in the country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in
the truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the journalistic histories of John
Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of
New England was also directed to the improvement and instruction of the colonists themselves,
intended to direct them in the ways of the gods. The first literature work was published in the
Puritan colonies, was the Bay Psalm Book, and the whole effort of the divines wrote furiously to

Causes Of Natural Selection
Ever wondered why Polar bears that subside in the Artic circle have thick white fur that matches the
snow and why Grizzly bears mostly found in North America have thinner brown fur? All the
reasoning to why similar species have a variation in physical features are answered through
evolution, and more specifically, natural selection. Evolutionis the process in which living
organisms have changed over the timespan of the Earth. Natural selection is the difference in
physical features that encourages survival within species that can be passed down to their offspring.
It is the most important cause of evolution that was hypothesized by Charles Darwinand Alfred
Russel Wallace. The idea introduced in the mid 1800 s but wasn t accepted until later... Show more

It is important to note that individuals don t evolve, but evolutionary changes genetic content of
entire populations. Darwin composed four basic principles that explain natural selection. First
is that individuals vary within a population. This would be like giraffes in a population having a
variation of long neck individuals and short neck individuals. Second is that differences are
passed on from parent to offspring. Neck length in a giraffe would be passed on to their
offspring through reproduction. Third principle is that some individuals are more successful in
surviving and reproducing than others. More than likely, the individuals with the longer necks
will more likely survive because their longer necks allow them to reach the leaves from the tree
tops. This phenotype of long necks will be passed down to their offspring. Lastly, they succeed
because variant traits they inherited are passed down to their offspring. A trait that is beneficial
for survival can only be classified as natural selection if it is a trait that can be genetically passed
down to its progeny. Natural selection is not a process that occurs overnight. It takes hundreds,
thousands, to millions of years to make an impact. The changes that occur with evolution are
spontaneous. That being said it has no goal. It does not have motivations or achievements. It is
merely a side effect of the environmental impact on a population of

Black Diggers Play Analysis
I don t want to join in. I don t belong (Wright 96). The play follows the idea of belonging and
how those who were considered different feel that they don t belong, because they were
discriminated against, abused, called names, assaulted, named and shamed. This script has been
written in response to these atrocities, that most people had no idea about until they have read or
seen the play, Black Diggers; a play told through the eyes of the Aboriginal soldiers and what they
went through. I believe that this text, specifically the last line of the play, said by Nigel in relation

The text highlights the changing attitudes through society, shown towards the Aboriginal culture,

blood. We saw each other when we were like babies. Like animals. (wright 71). This text also, I
believe, has an inner meaning of morals and mateship as evident in the closing stages of the play,
where the stereotypical white soldiers are starting to get along with the archetypal black soldiers,
who we follow through the play. Following their ever changing story for a better future of equality
and understanding. This all has an origin, which starts at the very beginning of the play, showing
mateship between the Aboriginal men. As the play moves on the bold line separating the two
different cultures, ever so slightly becomes fainter until it is just a blur. The inner meaning for this
text, I see it as recognition towards difference and what is mismatched between the two cultures and
how, this divergence from the normal, is why the black culture, represented as archetypal
characters, we follow them through the play as they try to become just another face in the crowd,

Dysbindin-1 Case Study
Dysbindin 1 promotes Drp1 oligomerization
Mitochondrial fission requires dynamin related protein 1 (Drp1). Drp1 is a large GTPase that can
assemble into oligomers with enhanced GTPase activity. Drp1 is predominantly located in the
cytosol and can be recruited to mitochondria to mediate mitochondrial fission by forming an
oligomeric ring around the mitochondrial tubule to constrict and sever mitochondrial outer
membranes 38 43. Having found that dysbindin 1 regulates mitochondrial fission, we proceeded to
test whether dysbindin 1 is involved in the association of Drp1 with mitochondria. Cultured
hippocampal neurons (DIV14) were transfected with the mitoDsRed plasmid along with the
dysbindin 1 siRNAs, scrambled siRNAs, dysbindin 1C or 1A ... Show more content on

The mitochondrial fraction of sdy hippocampi contained more monomeric Drp1 and fewer higher
order Drp1 oligomers than that of WT hippocampi, while the whole cell lysate of WT and sdy

results indicate that dysbindin 1 is required for Drp1 oligomerization on mitochondria.
Given that dysbindin 1C promotes the recruitment of Drp1 to mitochondria (Figure 3A C), we
assessed Drp1 oligomers in cultured hippocampal neurons transduced with lentivirus expressing
dysbindin 1C or 1A. Overexpression of dysbindin 1C, but not 1A, increased higher order Drp1
oligomers and decreased monomeric Drp1 in the mitochondrial fraction (Figure 4D F). Hence,
dysbindin 1C promotes Drp1 oligomerization on mitochondria.
How does dysbindin 1 regulate Drp1 oligomerization? Dysbindin 1 has been detected on
mitochondrial outer membranes by electron microscopy 28. It is possible that dysbindin 1 binds
to Drp1 to enhance its oligomerization. To test this possibility, we transfected HEK 293 cells with
YFP Drp1 along with HA tagged dysbindin 1C or 1A, and used an anti HA antibody to
immunoprecipitate dysbindin 1 at 2 days after transfection. Drp1 was detected in the
immunoprecipitation product from cells transfected with dysbindin 1C, but not with 1A plasmid
(Figure 4G), indicating that

Scorpius And Orion Research Paper
I have chosen the constellation Orion also known as the Hunter. I chose this constellation because
it means to me that no one is forgotten, there is no oblivion even for those who deserve it. Orion
is visible everywhere in the world as it sits on the celestial equator. It is very recognisable in the
sky and all its stars are quite bright which means it is a very prominent constellation.
The constellation of Orion has an interesting back story based on the hunter of the same namesake
in greek mythology. A scorpion was set upon Orion by the goddess Gaia after he threatened to kill
every animal on the planet, part of the myth also says that this is the reason that constellations of
Scorpius and Orion never appear in the sky at the same time.

INTRODUCTION
The jalapeno is a member of the capsicum family, along with many other peppers. The usual
methods for characterization of different pepper species are based on their morphological and
physiological traits, however this many not always be enough. For peppers, their traits are
influenced by things like their genotype or their specific environment. Genomic markers can
allow for a more direct comparison of closely related individuals (Ansari and Khan, 2012). In our
case we focus on DNA extraction. The two basic parts of a DNA extraction procedure include the
breaking of the cell walls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reliable DNA analysis is also important in the management of wild life. In the case of
Wedrowicz, the koala population is being threatened and the need for data on their genetic
diversity is of extreme importance. However obtaining the DNA from the koala is not a simple
task, this is due to cost, stress, and ethics of capturing a koala. Sometimes the only way to obtain
a sample of DNA is by the collection of scats. This means that once the DNA sample is obtained it
must be rushed to the lab for extraction while the sample is still fresh. Obtaining this DNA can
allow for analysis of population, breeding, and habitat of not only koalas, but of many other
mammals (Wedrowicz, Faye, 2013).
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Plant Materials
Seeds from different capsicum plants were purchased locally. The pepper seeds collected were
Japanese chili , California Bell , Serrano , Habanero , and Jalapeno .
Chemicals and Reagents
The chemical and reagents used for the extraction and quantitation of DNA were: Plant DNAzol
(0.3ml/0.1g), 100% ethanol (100%: 0.225 ml/0.1 g, 75%: 0.3 ml/0.1 g), Chloroform (0.3 ml/0.1
g), Plant DNAzol ethanol solution: Plant DNAzol, 100% ethanol (1:0.75 v/v), TE buffer (10 mM
Tris, 1 mM EDTA pH 8.0), 1.2% agarose gel (Agarose, 1X TAE buffer), 6X loading buffer
(glycerol, Tris/EDTA pH 8.0, ethidium bromide), .25X TAE buffer, Restriction enzymes and

Analysis Of Half A Day By Naguib Mahfouz
Time was a system created to help us organize our lives, but isn t it just a ticking clock telling us
how much we have left? In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In
Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly
passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing
quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to
experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him
Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is
trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be
taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his
father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was
trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new
things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and
face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it
shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things.
She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to
realize he must live life

The Role Of The Nuclear Family During The Industrial...
During the industrial revolution, the nuclear family was considered the norm, consisting of a
mother and father living together with two biologically related children. Traditionally, the wife
stayed home as the homemaker and looking after the children without pay. While the husband earns
the money through working at a job away from the home. Furze (2015 p. 174) states that in the
1940s and 1950s, many sociologists and the general communities of Western countries such as
Australia and New Zealand considered the traditional nuclear familythe most widespread and ideal
family form. Additionally, backing this statement up Fletcher (2017) claims that from a
functionalist perspective the nuclear familyis ideally suited to meet the necessities

Tort Reform And The Civil Justice System
Tort reform is an extremely debatable topic in the political legal fields. By definition, tort reform
refers to, The proposed changes made in the civil justice system that directly reduces tort litigation
or damages. Generally, when someone mentions tort reform to an everyday normal person who is
not familiar with legalese, they don t have any idea of what the term tort reformis. Throughout this,
one will understand through the three interviews conducted that two out of three people don t
necessarily understand the full concept of tort reform or have absolutely no idea what it is. One of
the most notorious cases that led to the ongoing debate of tort reform is Liebeck v. Mcdonald s
Restaurant. When the case is brought up, one will say, Isn t that the lady that burned herself with
coffeeand then tried to sue for millions of dollars? People believe they know the details of the
case, however one will be able to see, this particular case is often misconstrued. In my personal
opinion, after learning and studying the facts of this case, I don t understand how a human being
could be for tort reform after actually learning about the trials and tribulations that certain people
in these kinds of cases, especially Stella Liebeck, have to go through. First, the initial opinion of
two out of three people when asked what is their opinion of the case is similar. The first
interviewee, Tyler, believed Stella Liebeck just burnt her legs a little bit and that it was either the

Status of Women in Indian Society... a Study
Status of women in society
A project report
Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society
According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights
with men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society,
Indian women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are
malnourished and in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the
domestic work. Most Indian women are uneducated. Although the country s constitution says
women have equal status as of men, women are powerless and are mistreated inside and outside the
home.
India is a society where the male is greatly revered. Therefore women, ... Show more content on

Educated/literate women will be better able to manage their families, so that their children become
good citizens of the country.
Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become
respectable citizens.
The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect
of a family.
Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of
relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must
encourage mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families.
Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular
basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation.
My views
A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home,
brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the
making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state.
The question is how secure a woman is in her family and society and what is her socio economic
and political status. The position of women in any society is the indicator of health of the state.
Women contribute to society in many, many ways! There are very, very few professions that

Thomas Jefferson Vs Hamilton
After the Constitution was ratified people had their own opinion about it. The Federalists who were
James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay just to name a few has a loose interpretation of
the Constitution. On the other hand, the Republicans which was lead by Thomas Jefferson had a
very strict interpretation of the Constitution. Both parties had a different view which will cause
controversy later on.
The Federalist who was mainly lead by Alexander Hamilton, who had the position of a treasure
when George Washington was president, wanted a strong central government that rivaled Great
Britain. While, Thomas Jefferson, who was in charge of foreign relations (starting 1789), wanted a
small, farmer to producer nation. Hamilton while being

Unethical Ethics Of Advertising
Everyday, everywhere we are being inundated with advertisements. Whether it be while you are
walking down the street, shopping at the supermarket, or even in the safety of your own home
enjoying some tv in your down time. Advertising, whether it be big or small is everywhere; and in
fact there are many issues with it. Advertisingthat promotes a service or product in a deceptive
way is highly unethical. This is because it doesn t provide the customer with enough information
that they need in order to make a good, educated decision. And on another note, advertising is
manipulative because of the way it promotes consumption at such a large scale. Some of the main
reasons for advertising being dishonest are because it displays false savings, it exhibits
unnecessary upselling and possibly most importantly, it feul s wasteful consumerism. The
significance of this problem, comes in the form of the large sums of money people waste on
products they don t need and once purchased, realise they don t want. Frankly it is just too overt to
look past.
A way that advertising is deceptive is by showing false savings. Advertising a shocking pricecut is
a common marketing tactic, but some businesses inflate their prices beforehand just so they can
advertise the sizable price cut. In effect, the customer does not receive a good deal because the
discount reflects virtual, not actual, savings. Word s such as closeout and clearance are commonly
used by companies, which give consumers the

A Summary On The Workplace Of The United States
In Pedigree, Lauren A. Rivera outlines the manner by which the elite are able to reproduce their
resources and monopolize access to the most prestigious and highest paying jobs in the United
States. Rivera s main argument is that methods by which employers of elite firms characterize
credentials and evaluate qualification for top jobs provides more opportunities for candidates who
come from socioeconomically advantaged backgrounds, while at the same time limiting
opportunities for less privileged applicants. She goes on to highlight how every stage of the
evaluative process, from initial submission of rГ©sumГ©s for evaluation to final selections made
by committees, is systematically correlated with parental income and education. This exclusion of
talented, qualified applicants from less advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds creates a cap for
students in terms of the prestige of jobs and income levels that they can attain. In the chapter
summaries below, I will outline Rivera s arguments regarding elitereproduction and the
methodology by which this process occurs at each phase of the hiring process. Chapter 1: Entering
the Elite
Rivera begins her argument by focusing on the fundamental stepping stone to competing for elite
jobs education. She draws on the literature, and specifically Bourdieu s cultural capital theory, to
claim that parents with advanced educations and affluent economic positions are able to pass on
essential economic, cultural, and social capital that

Three Parts Of Successful Aging
When it comes to successful aging, there are three main parts to it. Which is staying physically
healthy and being able to diet, and exercise. Retaining cognitive abilities as in higher education,
or cognitive adventurousness. And lastly social engagement as having social connections and
contacts with family and friends and having an opportunity to being beneficial towards others.
When I get to older adulthood I believe I will meet those three main parts very well. With staying
physically healthy and keeping a sustain diet. I will try to have self efficacy and tell myself I can
stay active and stay fit so I do not become an unhealthy adult. By achieving this goal I will either
walk every afternoon or go to the gym and do small workouts,

Descriptive Essay About Dance
Each year, in the month of Halloween and all things spooky, hundreds of supportive friends and
family members coalesce together in the Alpena public high school s dusty and chaotic
auditorium to view the spectacular dancers performing on stage. Each one of the dancers
prepare and anxiously wait for the big day in October where they can show their loved ones
what they have been rehearsing for all year long and when this suddenly creeps up everyone is
beyond delighted that it is finally here. The amount of families who unite and come together to
support the studio is extremely heartwarming and I was ecstatic that the recital was finally up on
me, but of course I was very unsteady about performing in front of hundreds of people. Months
before all the chaos of ordering costumes and preparing for the recital, the dancers all needed to
take time and practice. Everyone loved dancing in the quiet little studio each week. The
disadvantage was that each time you would step in, the air in the room would feel a lot like getting
stabbed in the back with an ice cold knife. The air awoke the dancers and I up as if the air was an
alarm that was blaring in our eardrums. As the dancer slipped on their tap shoes, I, of course, was
prepared for an exciting adventure filled lesson with some of my closest friends by my side. The
rush of adrenaline made my heart beat faster and faster. My stomach began doing somersaults as if
I was still in acro class. My recital was only a week away and the

Sedentary Changes In The Neolithic Period
Mesolithic period marked the beginning of Holocene inducing simultaneous climatic changes
which led to proliferation of flora and fauna. This inherently led to the increased availability of
resources to man, hence creating a change in the economy. Substantial changes in lifestyle were
observed as a form of survival strategy which primarily promoted localization, halting locomotion.
The progression of evolutionary changes in anatomy and physiology equipped man to enjoy
privileges like full hand and thumb grip, larger cranial capacity that inherently influenced other
inter dependent bodily functions. His emotions cultivated social cohesions forming personal and
societal bonds. This further accentuated the evolution of burial ground and practises... Show more

As a result interpersonal relationships were developed to consolidate a form of cooperative
existence. The burials dated to this period are more structured and sophisticated than those in
Mesolithic indicating the advancement of culture and religion. The way man built pits and other
structures proves his advancement from the previous period. Neolithic period is also the origin of
animal burial along with man. It only confirms that man became more attached to the environment
meanwhile formulating various emotions. He would bury the dead near his habitation and built
separate cemeteries and structured graves to dispose off the dead stipulating his respect for the
dead. Neolithic period holds evidence of childrens bones stored in jars showing the increased
complexity of man and his emotions. Man was more concerned about the dead .The Mesolithic
period included simpler burials than those in Neolithic, demonstrating that man was still adapting
and his emotions were still enhancing. The continued usage of red ochre indicates that its symbolic
value was probably passed down through generations. The features of these burials reveal that both
Mesolithic and Neolithic man believed in some form of

Essay on Animal Testing
Imagine being a rabbit; a vertebrate and warm blooded species. Hopping around an open field and
eating all greens. All of sudden, you were captured by an unknown human. You start to rattle around
your cage figuring out how to escape. About twenty five million and 30 million animals are
exploited in experiments; half are only used through education (Donna 7).
A 40% is applied in basic research, the 26% for drug development, a 20% are examined for
products, and the 14% that is left is applied on education and miscellaneous (Donna 5).
The inhumane cruelty affects the innocent creatures. Animals should only be used for education,

For instances, those involved in auctions and animals sold publicly are to keep records. On the
contrary, it does not support all animal rights; the law ought to emphasis those out in business too.
Beyond that, in 1976 adjustments were made in the amendment. In fact, this time it includes more
steps to those companies in the animal testing business (Donna 16). Each corporation is required
to register and keep records of the species. Again it had affected those who are employed in
auctions, operators, dealers, and exhibitors to be certified. Thus certified employees must submit
an annual report to congress. The reports helped the Congressmen keep track of the species; so
living things would not be mistreated. Moreover the act expanded dogs safety. Hounds were only
acceptable for breeders, security, hunting, and as house hold pets. But there is a catch to it; dog
owners must provide treatments (Donna 8). Signifying hounds would receive yearly check up on
their satiability of well nutrients. However the act was expanding, it excluded most of the rights
towards animals. In addition to the amendment, in 1985 it was re modified again. It incorporated
the labs and the environment of the organisms. The act demanded laboratories to provide exercise
and a physical environment, to balance the pain and stress for the species, and minimize the use of
drugs (Donna 8). Despite the reduction of drugs it does not improve the consumption towards the

  • 4. The Defeat Of The Spanish Armada At the start of the attack, the Spanish Armada made way towards England, but word traveled fast about their location. When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast of England and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to spread word of the arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally reached the Queen (Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have inside information about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England assemble their own ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In Preparation for the near hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay for the necessities needed to fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. During this time another campaign was going on, which consumed most of the funds, but despite that the Queen made all of her efforts towards the raising money to help prepare for the anticipated encounter with Spain (Sharnette). With the English fleet becoming more whole and an actual object, they were ready to meet Spain s notorious Armada. Queen Elizabeth gave the position of commander of the fleet to Charles Howard. Howard had great success in being in charge due to delaying the launch of the Spanish Armada ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). • 7. Grace Kelly Research Paper Grace Kelley to Blake Lively: Hollywood Role Model Queens Think about style, elegance, and the role model for women in the 1950s. Not only was Grace Kelly a famous movie star with flawless looks and style, but she was also a philanthropist, a mother and a princess. Now, this is a rather impressive list of qualities that seems as if it were a fairy tale, a wish list that a child may put together on their eighth birthday party, and wish for as they blew out the candle. The only thing is that this was a reality for Grace Kelly in the 1950s until she passed away in the 1980s, this is also true for Blake Lively aside from the fact that she is not actually married to a prince. Blake Lively picked up where Grace Kelly left off, making Blake the new queen of poise and grace. Grace Kelly is still a role model during this time, people still compare a lot of actresses to her and designers are still trying to embody her essence in clothing, but now Blake has moved in. • 10. Hart s Account Of The Relationship Between Law And Morality Outline and critically evaluate Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality. Introduction: Natural law theorists believe that all law must be morally justified if it can be legitimised as law at all. Legal positivism means the simple contention that it is in no sense a necessary truth that laws reproduce or satisfy certain demands of morality, though in fact they have otherwise done so. (Hart, DATE) In Hart s eyes, though there may be a congruence between law and morality, it is by no means a necessary connection. (Hart, DATE) Hart promotes the need for a clear distinction between law and morality on two levels. Firstly the Social and hermeneutic level in regards to both law and morality sharing vocabulary in both structure and function showing that in many societies legal rules will match their moral rules. Second a logic and hypothetical level Hart believes in the possibility of a legal system existing without the influence of morality as there are cases were legal systems do not match the moral grounds of society.( see Austins command theory and the idea of one sovereign ruling all) (SOURCE) Hart s idea is this: All one/society needs is a legal system based on the four rules. This paper will demonstrate how Hart s account of the relationship between law and morality shows an understanding of how they both work together yet can also work as separate entities. It will take a specific look into the internal point of view to aid the understanding of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Especially during the high school ages, young people are constantly ask about their futures, and although it is in good nature, the wanderertends to overstep and misunderstand. The first half of the poem appears to speak to an individual s plan: the attachment to the thread, the necessary explanation, the questions. Then, the second half seems to connect to the unalterable stream of life. As Stafford writes, you don t ever let go of the thread, the poem feels more like a death sentence. Intuition has been a strong factor in my plans for after high school and it can be confusing for another to understand. It is true, threads are unknowable to outsiders. However, empathy is a way around the barrier. No one needs to understand everything, but humans need to be less narrow minded for everyone to flourish. The title is an unqualified fact of life. Using simplistic words, the title becomes matter of fact. After reading the poem, one would assume the title should include the word thread because of how symbolic it is throughout the work. Stafford knows this feeling is universal; the title indicates the reader will understand. Throughout the poem, the tone remains unvarnished, playing to the logical side of the issue. People will always misunderstand others this is the way it is. By writing The Way It Is is second person, Stafford further explores the universal aspect of explanation. In certain instances, one might think in second person, as possibly reassurance or motivation. Once one disassociates themselves from montra, it can become more powerful, in a way. This poem is able to speak to every individual reading it because this is how humans have broad ideas. There is a unique relationship between the narrator and the reader, when second person is used. Special Needs In Special Education One would think that through the achievements within special education that our culture would be more willing and understanding of students with special needs. Even with great strides and progressive steps to improve the experience within the education for students with special needs society still does not fully understand what challenges students with special needs face daily. Culture wants to be accepting within its comfort level and does not understand that to help students with special needs or disabilities one must change to the student s level of understanding and comfort. Within observations of general classrooms, it is still apparent that teachers want to accommodate all students, but some are still lacking the understanding and knowledge of how to modify their teaching style to help students with disabilities to reach their maximum potential. Culture is still seeing students with disabilities as being limited within their educationnot fully understanding that each student has different potential and needs specialized instruction (Personal Communication). Within the course and through field observation the greatest thing that has been observed is that each special educationstudent is unique, and each has their own academic achievements and struggles. The meaning behind this quotes resides in the author s purpose. When an author is telling a story, they cannot avoid bias and their opinions. The purpose of the author writing, poem or prose, is to protest the opinions, cultural concepts and ideas that they do not agree with and try to change people s perception of these ideas. This quotation is valid and provides a compelling argument because if the author is not trying to change something in the world, even something so small, when they are writing, then why are they writing? HDPE plastic can also be welded and these plastics are often found in larger plastic items, because of its great strength and durability. One of the first items that HDPE was used to make was the hula hoop. HDPE plastic can be found in tables and chairs, storage sheds, snowboard rails and boxes. Thicker pieces of HDPE plastic are used for plumbing, automotive fittings and storage containers. HDPE plastic can also be recycled but, like LDPE plastic it will also lose some of its quality the second time it is used. We used two wands that created positive and negative charges when rubbed together one is blue and the other is white. When we used both wands, the electrometer almost read zero volts throughout the duration of the experiment. This proves that the negativity of the particles on the blue wand were equal to the positive charge of the particles on the white wand; so it cancelled each other out. While using the both wands we encountered an error. The voltage should have been zero when the wands was out the pail and not touching the pail; however the electrometer reading was 3 volt. This is most likely due to a random error in measurement due to a faulty electrometer or pail. The electrometer may have not been sensitive enough to pick up all the charged particles when the wands were not out the pail we should have repeated this so we can get accurate readings. • 24. Food Preservatives And Its Effects On Food Food Preservatives Food preservatives are described as natural means or man made chemicals that are used in foods to prevent them from spoiling. A subgroup of preservatives are food additives, which differ from preservatives in the way that additives are not only used to lengthen the life of food, but also to improve taste and appearance. The ultimate goal of preservatives and additives are to improve the quality and lifespan of food by slowing down the decomposition process using chemicals or natural methods, such as salt and dehydration. Food preservatives can be broken down into two basic groups natural and chemical. Natural preservatives are methods such as sun drying, freezing, or adding other ingredients like honey that essentially slow down the speed at which food spoils. Chemical preservatives are chemicals added to foods for the same purpose as natural preservatives are. It is the same with additives; the difference being that they may be also used to purposely change a food s look and taste. Preservatives and additives are used in most of foods, especially in our pre packaged meals, whether it be natural or chemical versions being added. According to historical records, natural methods of preservation, such as salting or dehydrating, have been around for centuries. When humans began to switch from hunting and gathering to a more agricultural approach, they needed a way to make food last for longer periods of time. This became an obvious problem as food ... The Effects Of Obesity On Public Health Introduction Obesity is a traditionally first world health problem that is a growing concern throughout the world because of its negative effects on public health as well as the wider economy. According to both the WHO and the NHS, an individual s Body Mass Index (BMI), is an imperfect, yet effective tool for measuring obesity. The WHO definition has determined that a BMI of 25 29.9 is classified as being overweight, whereas a BMI of 30 34.9 is considered to be a sign of obesity (World Health Organization, 2014).The NHS goes on to add that it is useful to consider an individual s waist circumference as fit and muscular people can also have a relatively high BMI without an excess of fat, and classifies men and women with waist circumferences of 90cm and 80cm respectively as being at risk for obesity related health conditions (Nhs.uk, 2014). Obesity must be dealt with early and at the local level. In the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, 20.1% of year 6 children are classified as obese, high compared to the national average of 18.9%. Conversely, only 13.3% of adults in this borough are obese, much fewer than the national average of 23.0% (Public Health England, 2014). After the Second World War, Israeli forces occupied Palestinian territory, ridding the land of Arabs. In response, the Palestinian people demanded control over their historic land, but the Israelis refused to relinquish power over the territory. In a matter of six days, the Jewish Israeli people conquered the West Bank all the way through to the Sinai Peninsula. After the war, the Israeli forces continued to take over Palestinian land by putting pressure on them to abandon their nation. Due to this ongoing conflict, Sahar Khalifeh utilizes violence and social constraints to explore the lives of Israeli and Palestinian men through vivid diction and descriptive imagery in the 1985 novel Wild Thorns. Throughout the novel, the author discusses how the ideal man is viewed in Palestinian culture. After the war, in 1972 Nablus, the status quo for both Israeli and Palestinian men changed. For example, radicals such as Basil, Usama, and the rest of his guerrilla fighters believe that the ideal man defends his honor and dignity, and he refuses to tolerate a dictatorship and submission despite the consequences. Causes Of Natural Selection Ever wondered why Polar bears that subside in the Artic circle have thick white fur that matches the snow and why Grizzly bears mostly found in North America have thinner brown fur? All the reasoning to why similar species have a variation in physical features are answered through evolution, and more specifically, natural selection. Evolutionis the process in which living organisms have changed over the timespan of the Earth. Natural selection is the difference in physical features that encourages survival within species that can be passed down to their offspring. It is the most important cause of evolution that was hypothesized by Charles Darwinand Alfred Russel Wallace. The idea introduced in the mid 1800 s but wasn t accepted until later... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to note that individuals don t evolve, but evolutionary changes genetic content of entire populations. Darwin composed four basic principles that explain natural selection. First is that individuals vary within a population. This would be like giraffes in a population having a variation of long neck individuals and short neck individuals. Second is that differences are passed on from parent to offspring. Neck length in a giraffe would be passed on to their offspring through reproduction. Third principle is that some individuals are more successful in surviving and reproducing than others. More than likely, the individuals with the longer necks will more likely survive because their longer necks allow them to reach the leaves from the tree tops. This phenotype of long necks will be passed down to their offspring. Lastly, they succeed because variant traits they inherited are passed down to their offspring. A trait that is beneficial for survival can only be classified as natural selection if it is a trait that can be genetically passed down to its progeny. Natural selection is not a process that occurs overnight. It takes hundreds, thousands, to millions of years to make an impact. The changes that occur with evolution are spontaneous. That being said it has no goal. It does not have motivations or achievements. It is merely a side effect of the environmental impact on a population of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This all has an origin, which starts at the very beginning of the play, showing mateship between the Aboriginal men. As the play moves on the bold line separating the two different cultures, ever so slightly becomes fainter until it is just a blur. The inner meaning for this text, I see it as recognition towards difference and what is mismatched between the two cultures and how, this divergence from the normal, is why the black culture, represented as archetypal characters, we follow them through the play as they try to become just another face in the crowd, no different from the white man standing next to ... • 43. Dysbindin-1 Case Study Dysbindin 1 promotes Drp1 oligomerization Mitochondrial fission requires dynamin related protein 1 (Drp1). Drp1 is a large GTPase that can assemble into oligomers with enhanced GTPase activity. Drp1 is predominantly located in the cytosol and can be recruited to mitochondria to mediate mitochondrial fission by forming an oligomeric ring around the mitochondrial tubule to constrict and sever mitochondrial outer membranes 38 43. Having found that dysbindin 1 regulates mitochondrial fission, we proceeded to test whether dysbindin 1 is involved in the association of Drp1 with mitochondria. Cultured hippocampal neurons (DIV14) were transfected with the mitoDsRed plasmid along with the dysbindin 1 siRNAs, scrambled siRNAs, dysbindin 1C or 1A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mitochondrial fraction of sdy hippocampi contained more monomeric Drp1 and fewer higher order Drp1 oligomers than that of WT hippocampi, while the whole cell lysate of WT and sdy hippocampi had comparable amounts of monomeric and oligomeric Drp1 (Figure 4A C). These results indicate that dysbindin 1 is required for Drp1 oligomerization on mitochondria. Given that dysbindin 1C promotes the recruitment of Drp1 to mitochondria (Figure 3A C), we assessed Drp1 oligomers in cultured hippocampal neurons transduced with lentivirus expressing dysbindin 1C or 1A. Overexpression of dysbindin 1C, but not 1A, increased higher order Drp1 oligomers and decreased monomeric Drp1 in the mitochondrial fraction (Figure 4D F). Hence, dysbindin 1C promotes Drp1 oligomerization on mitochondria. How does dysbindin 1 regulate Drp1 oligomerization? Dysbindin 1 has been detected on mitochondrial outer membranes by electron microscopy 28. It is possible that dysbindin 1 binds to Drp1 to enhance its oligomerization. To test this possibility, we transfected HEK 293 cells with YFP Drp1 along with HA tagged dysbindin 1C or 1A, and used an anti HA antibody to immunoprecipitate dysbindin 1 at 2 days after transfection. Drp1 was detected in the immunoprecipitation product from cells transfected with dysbindin 1C, but not with 1A plasmid (Figure 4G), indicating that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Scorpius And Orion Research Paper I have chosen the constellation Orion also known as the Hunter. I chose this constellation because it means to me that no one is forgotten, there is no oblivion even for those who deserve it. Orion is visible everywhere in the world as it sits on the celestial equator. It is very recognisable in the sky and all its stars are quite bright which means it is a very prominent constellation. The constellation of Orion has an interesting back story based on the hunter of the same namesake in greek mythology. A scorpion was set upon Orion by the goddess Gaia after he threatened to kill every animal on the planet, part of the myth also says that this is the reason that constellations of Scorpius and Orion never appear in the sky at the same time. ... The usual methods for characterization of different pepper species are based on their morphological and physiological traits, however this many not always be enough. For peppers, their traits are influenced by things like their genotype or their specific environment. Genomic markers can allow for a more direct comparison of closely related individuals (Ansari and Khan, 2012). In our case we focus on DNA extraction. Reliable DNA analysis is also important in the management of wild life. In the case of Wedrowicz, the koala population is being threatened and the need for data on their genetic diversity is of extreme importance. However obtaining the DNA from the koala is not a simple task, this is due to cost, stress, and ethics of capturing a koala. Sometimes the only way to obtain a sample of DNA is by the collection of scats. This means that once the DNA sample is obtained it must be rushed to the lab for extraction while the sample is still fresh. Obtaining this DNA can allow for analysis of population, breeding, and habitat of not only koalas, but of many other mammals (Wedrowicz, Faye, 2013). MATERIALS AND METHODS Plant Materials Seeds from different capsicum plants were purchased locally. The pepper seeds collected were Japanese chili , California Bell , Serrano , Habanero , and Jalapeno . In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to realize he must live life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Status of Women in Indian Society... a Study Status of women in society A project report Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society, Indian women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are malnourished and in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most Indian women are uneducated. Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become respectable citizens. The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a family. Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families. Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation. My views A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home, brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state. Whether it be while you are walking down the street, shopping at the supermarket, or even in the safety of your own home enjoying some tv in your down time. Advertising, whether it be big or small is everywhere; and in fact there are many issues with it. Advertisingthat promotes a service or product in a deceptive way is highly unethical. This is because it doesn t provide the customer with enough information that they need in order to make a good, educated decision. And on another note, advertising is manipulative because of the way it promotes consumption at such a large scale. Some of the main reasons for advertising being dishonest are because it displays false savings, it exhibits unnecessary upselling and possibly most importantly, it feul s wasteful consumerism. The significance of this problem, comes in the form of the large sums of money people waste on products they don t need and once purchased, realise they don t want. Frankly it is just too overt to look past. A way that advertising is deceptive is by showing false savings. Advertising a shocking pricecut is a common marketing tactic, but some businesses inflate their prices beforehand just so they can advertise the sizable price cut. In effect, the customer does not receive a good deal because the discount reflects virtual, not actual, savings. • 52. A Summary On The Workplace Of The United States In Pedigree, Lauren A. Rivera outlines the manner by which the elite are able to reproduce their resources and monopolize access to the most prestigious and highest paying jobs in the United States. Rivera s main argument is that methods by which employers of elite firms characterize credentials and evaluate qualification for top jobs provides more opportunities for candidates who come from socioeconomically advantaged backgrounds, while at the same time limiting opportunities for less privileged applicants. She goes on to highlight how every stage of the evaluative process, from initial submission of rГ©sumГ©s for evaluation to final selections made by committees, is systematically correlated with parental income and education. This exclusion of talented, qualified applicants from less advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds creates a cap for students in terms of the prestige of jobs and income levels that they can attain. In the chapter summaries below, I will outline Rivera s arguments regarding elitereproduction and the methodology by which this process occurs at each phase of the hiring process. Chapter 1: Entering the Elite Rivera begins her argument by focusing on the fundamental stepping stone to competing for elite jobs education. Descriptive Essay About Dance Each year, in the month of Halloween and all things spooky, hundreds of supportive friends and family members coalesce together in the Alpena public high school s dusty and chaotic auditorium to view the spectacular dancers performing on stage. Each one of the dancers prepare and anxiously wait for the big day in October where they can show their loved ones what they have been rehearsing for all year long and when this suddenly creeps up everyone is beyond delighted that it is finally here. The amount of families who unite and come together to support the studio is extremely heartwarming and I was ecstatic that the recital was finally up on me, but of course I was very unsteady about performing in front of hundreds of people. Months before all the chaos of ordering costumes and preparing for the recital, the dancers all needed to take time and practice. Everyone loved dancing in the quiet little studio each week. The disadvantage was that each time you would step in, the air in the room would feel a lot like getting stabbed in the back with an ice cold knife. The air awoke the dancers and I up as if the air was an alarm that was blaring in our eardrums. As the dancer slipped on their tap shoes, I, of course, was prepared for an exciting adventure filled lesson with some of my closest friends by my side. The rush of adrenaline made my heart beat faster and faster. My stomach began doing somersaults as if I was still in acro class. My recital was only a week away and the ...
