The Location Of An Ecosystem
Location The location of an ecosystem affects its functioning. At a global scale, latitude,
distance from the sea and altitude play decisive roles in determining climate and ultimately the
nature of particular ecosystems. The Great Barrier Reef is found along the Queensland
coastline. It stretches as far north as Papa New Guinea, 8o South Latitude, to just above (north)
of Fraser Island, 24o South Latitude, (an approximate 2300 Km stretch). There are four main
regions along the Great Barrier Reef. These are The Northern, Central, Mackay, and Southern
Region. The Great Barrier Reef also has continuity both geographically and temporally. Reef
drilling data has proved that the reef in the north is 1km to 2km s thick and existed about 15
million years ago. However the southern region of the reef is much thinner at only 120 meters
thick and younger at only about 2 million years. Due to this location the corals which require a
very specific conditions are able to grow due to the right amount of light which is the main food
source of the zooxanthellae which are organisms contained in the corals. Corals are limited to
areas of the sea where the water temperature does not fall below 17 degrees Celsius and doesn t
exceed 34 degrees Celsius and the coralsystem prefers to be in a relatively stable saline conditions
as elevated levels stunt coral growth and low levels will result in the zooxanthellae dying. Thus
creating a very vulnerable ecosystem due to the specifics of the coral

How Important Is Antitume A Turning Point In The War
There three themes that are explored in the film Why Is Antitume a Turning Point in the War? one
of the themes that is explained through the film is America in the World. Though, the category
America in the World covers seven topics; the one expanded on in this film is foreign policy and
diplomacy. In the summer of 1862, it was possible that there would be a foreign intervention in the
Civil War. Though, this never happened. Though in spite of this, later in the war the south assumed
that England was going to join the civil war on the side of the Confederates, due to the South strong
trade commodity, cotton. However, Robert E. Lee greatly misjudged England s dependence on the
Confederate commodities. Due to the abundance of cotton... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dna Barcoding And Its Effects On The Malaysian Market
There is very little customers can do to ensure that they are purchasing the fish they are paying for.
Producers and restaurants owners have a tendency to mislabel their products for their own reasons.
The main reason is yet to be determined but there are researchers who have made it their goal to
resolve this dispute and show customers what they are truly buying. Too Chin Chin et al. attempt to
utilize the DNAbarcoding in the fish segment, to assess the frequency of fish mislabeling on the
Malaysian market (2015). DNA barcoding tries to standardize scientific classification by using
short, single DNA sequence, for example, part of the mitochondrial gene COI to distinguish
between species (Larson, 2007). The process begins with extracting DNA and using primers to
amplify COI regions from the DNA extracts via PCR. The sequences attained are compared to
the available sequences in Bold and GenBank databases to find the mislabeled products.
Similarly, a character based key can also be constructed to review the reference sequences for
variable nucleotides that can serve as diagnostics for the species you wish to study (Loweinstein,
2009). Along with Too Chin Chin et al., there are other researchers who based their study on the
same concept to find mislabeled seafood products in certain parts of the world. Dana Miller et al.
examined seafood fraud in two types of Whitefish in Europe. Although, the motivation for these
works are to find mislabeling in products using the standard

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an act whereby the individual is placed in the body of Christ.
John the Baptist, after witnessing the descent of the Holy Spirit as a dove at the baptism of Jesus,
recorded Most Pentecostal, and Charismatic believe that tongues are the initial sign of the baptism
in the Holy Spirit.
The book of Acts is its foundation stone. If the book of Acts were excluded from the discussion,
there would be no other source of information since the only other passage in the New Testament
that discusses tongues at any length is 1 Corinthians 12 14 which clearly teaches all do not speak in
tongues.
Also, Paul examines tongues as one of many differing spiritual gifts that are given freely by the
Spirit after one has been baptized by the Spirit into the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13).
In Charismatic Theology, Stronstad states, And tongues is the sign that all who belong to this
charismatic community have been empowered by the Spirit for charismatic ministry.
I choose the charismatic gifts debate because coming from a Pentecostal/Charismatic background
growing up in church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I saw
the gifts in action.
There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for today or have they ceased from the
church. One side says that the gifts are in the past and is not relevant for the day that we live in
and another side says that the gifts are still

The Importance Of Artifice In Society
Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret
that artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own
ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive
others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As
illustrated by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to
become so ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the
entertainment industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more
likely to be disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has
seen more abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that
newspapers skew reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior
motives. Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in
society, and their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within
the United States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to
expose this behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery
remains essential for success in media and politics. Artifice generated through the media plays a
pivotal role in the spread

Hydatid Disease Essay
We read with great interest a case report by Tosya et al. on isolated hydatidosis involving the
ascending aorta [1]. Cystic hydatid disease still represents a neglected disease despite being highly
endemic in a myriad of livestock raising regions worldwide, and this case presentation makes
evident how diverse the localization and clinical manifestations of this infection can be. With this
comment, our aim is to extend the discussion by highlighting several important issues. The
described patient initially presented with recurrent arterial embolic events, which is an unusual
manifestation of this disease. The hydatid embolism usually stems from spontaneous or traumatic
rupture of the hydatid cyst, with only a several case reports describing such events in the literature
[2]. Still, histopathologic evaluation of the embolus can be pursed, which in some instances may

Although the diagnosis is usually performed with serologic tests, the authors rightly state that up to
50% of infected individuals may present with negative serology. This fact is important to
accentuate, as large numbers of clinicians still seek serologic confirmation of their working
diagnosis. Albeit significant efforts have been made to improve this percentage using synthetic
peptides, recombinant proteins and combinations of defined antigens, it must be noted that only
60% 80% of infected individuals become seropositive [3]. Furthermore, 10% 15% of serological
examinations return negative results due to the wall thickness of the individual hydatid cysts. By
contrast, false positive serological findings can also be found in 10% 15% of patients, primarily as
a result of cross reacting with other parasitic infections, but also in non active disease stages,
patients with malignancy or during pregnancy

The Accuracy Of The Film Red Tails
Some more accurate than others, they all concern the similar themes of a mission above others, a
personal conflict, and the character development to become iconic by the end of the film. For
example, in Red Tails, its accuracy can be somewhat, when concerning itself to the controversy of
black males in the American Air Force. Surprisingly, the directors of the movie did get the accuracy
of the aircraft they acquired throughout the duration of the movie. It pinpointed the racial tension
between troops, but also showed the desegregation that occurred after the two racial groups started
journeying in more missions. Its inaccuracy comes in the fact that not that many main characters

Essay On Metronome
Physical Skills
8. Metronome Work and Picking Exercises Every musician, myself included, has a powerful love
hate relationship with the metronome. There may be no tool in the history of mankind that could
be both so helpful, yet so frustrating, at the same time. Nonetheless, it is unquestionably the most
important device for improving your technical proficiency. While there are an infinite number of
ways to utilize, my favourite method is what I like to call overshooting.
It works by taking a difficult passage of music, and starting by playing it at an extremely slow
tempo. Gradually increase the speed (no more than 3 beats per minute) until it becomes modestly
difficult. Then increase the speed way above where you are at, and ... Show more content on

This is hard going up, but the serious challenge comes when going down, as you have to move
your finger to a string that you are not playing!
10. Choose Your Picks Wisely While your choice of guitarpick does not make or break your skill
as a guitarist, it can certainly ease a lot of issues relatively quickly. While it s a bit of a
polarizing opinion, myself and many other guitarists believe that there is really no purpose for
thin picks. This is backed up by studying the picks used by famous lead guitarists; nearly none of
them were flexible or thin. Stick with picks thicker than 1.5 millimeters, even as thick as 3+
millimeters if you are a jazz guitarist!
Shape has a bit more leniency, but you ll want to tend for smaller, pointier picks as they move
through the strings much easier and with less pick noise. There is no finer example of this than
Dunlop s Jazz III picks, as loved by Eric Johnson, John Petrucci and Kirk Hammett. Bear in mind
that if you just don t like the shape, there is nothing wrong with defaulting to your personal
preference. Django Reinhardt revolutionized lead guitar playing, and he was known to play with a
shirt button at times!
11. Take the Pick Away Altogether The better you get with a pick, the more tempting it is to
eschew musicality for blinding speed and virtuosity. To combat this, it s best to drop the pick
sometimes and play with your

Fifty years later, in 1973 one of the largest televised matches in history happened. According to
from an article written in 2013, Jesse Greenspan recapped, On September 20th, 1973, Billie Jean
King was known all around the world as ranked no.1 women s tennis player. At 55 years old, a
tennis legend named Bobby Riggs stated he could beat any women player. King was up for the
challenge, and the way Riggs got ready was to make rude and unnecessary comments. Jesse
Greenspan recalled, Riggs made things more interesting by saying rude comments, including that
the best way to handle a woman is to keep her pregnant and barefoot. Before the match took place,
the comment made about how to handle a woman wasn t right. He was saying how women only
should be used to make children and follow their husbands. After the match, however, those things
no longer apply. This match really made women become somewhat recognizable in the sports
industry. For Billie Jean King to stand up to a man that was being arrogant showed she had a lot of
courage, but before the match, those things said we not right. Now, there is a movie being made
about this incident and tells you how the match began. This problem has not stopped yet because

Organizational Culture is the system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that has developed
within an organization and guides the behavior of its members. Organizational Development
consists of special applications of knowledge gained from behavioral science to create a
comprehensive design to improve organizational effectiveness. Through the collective experiences,
the members of an organization solve two important survival issues. The first issue addresses

Some strategy to help strengthen the organization call for managers to modify observable cultures
such as shared values, and common assumptions directly. Most organizations contain a variety of
subcultures, and a few have countercultures that can become the source of potentially harmful
conflicts. The corporate culture will also reflect the values of the larger national culture. The first
step management must take is to first recognize an organized culture s subculture. Subculture s
management are referred to in the OB literature by the term Management Philosophy.
Management Philosophies link key goal related issues with key collaboration issues and
develops guidelines by which the firm will manage its affairs. It is important to have a well
developed management philosophy because it links strategy to a more basic understanding of
how the firm is to operate. These strategies are; (1) to establish understood boundaries for all
members of the firm, (2) to provide a consistent way of approaching new and novel situations, and
(3) to help hold individuals together by assuring them of a known path toward success. Managers
may and can modify aspects of culture which include; modifying the language, stories, rites, rituals,
and sagas. They often will change the lessons to be drawn from the stories told and even encourage
people to see the reality they see. Because of top management s position, senior managers can
interpret situations in new ways

A Day At Montessori Children House
It was a beautiful and sunny day at Montessori Children House. I rang the bell, which indicated
the end of outdoor play time. Children started putting away tricycles and sand toys, stacking the

Then I emphasized what I said to him one more time: Play time is over, Allen. You must come
inside the class now. No response. I was so mad that I increased my voice to him. Allen! Get

turning red and started to threaten this little child, If you don t come in this minute, you won t be
allowed to come out to play the rest of day. Allen stuck out his tongue and teased at me, You can t

How Did George Washington Influence The American Revolution
Regarded as one of the most beloved figures in American history, George Washington maintains an
almost godlike image in the minds of many. Despite his reputation as a leader, Washington was not
always flawless in his military exploits. His time in the French and Indian War granted him the
experiences and skills needed to be effective as commander of the Continental Army, and not all of
these experiences included victories. It was the knowledge Washington gained in the French and
Indian War, and the war itself, that helped the colonies to obtain their independence from Great
Britain. The effects of the French and Indian War laid the groundwork for what would become the
American Revolution and, ultimately, the United States. The British s victory at the conclusion of

It was in the French and Indian war that Washington was able to develop certain skills and tools
that would grant him success in the Revolution. When Governor Dinwiddie wished to form a
military force for the frontier, it was Washington who was made lieutenant colonel. Previously,
Washington had been used to carry an ultimatum to French troops at Fort Le Boeuf where he gained
knowledge of the terrain. As lieutenant colonel, he attempted to control unruly men while making
his way to the Ohio territory. Despite his instructions from Dinwiddie to act on the Difensive,
Washington and his Indian allies surrounded French troops camped at a nearby glen and ambushed
them. This battle resulted in the deaths of thirteen Frenchmen and twenty one prisoners. Following
the battle, the wounded leader of the French troops, Ensign Joseph Coulon de Jumonville, claimed
that Washington attacked men on a diplomatic mission. Regardless of the true intent of the French,
the battle of Jumonville Glen angered the French and they desired revenge. This, ultimately, led to

How Chiropractic Is A Discipline Of Health Science
What is Chiropractics?
Chiropractic is a discipline in health science that focuses on restoring health through basic and
natural hands on care without taking a surgical or long term medicinal approach. As most of us
know that the conventional allopathic medicinal approach targets curing the illness through a set of
drug therapy or surgery, the approach of chiropracticis totally different. The primary goal of
chiropractic is to alleviate back pain through spine adjustment. Because human spine is a very
complex structure, the primary avenue of care in chiropractic is to make your spine more flexible
in order to improve your mobility and strength. A licensed chiropractor does spine adjustment,
spinal decompression, health assessment for pain management and back bone alignment procedures.
A number of times, people suffering from intense back or joint pain complain about nerve pain too.
That s because the nerve existing in that joint doesn t get a free space due to misalignment of the
spine or joint bones. Because of the misaligned articulation of the joints, existing nerves can be
hugely affected. This is when a chiropractor makes some adjustment to align the joint bones or
spinal bones. In short, the chiropractor manually repositions these joints. This will reduce the pain
associated with the joints and improve your strength and flexibility. Origin:
The origin of this word is from a Greek work, which means procedures done by hand. Although the

The Importance Of Transformational Leadership
A leader is an important aspect to have in nursing. Many times a manager and a leader are used
interchangeably but in fact there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. A manager

Positive inspiration has a progressive effect on staff nurses by uplifting the environment. This
greatly effects job satisfaction. Creating such a team is a very important nurse leader task that can
drastically impact staff self esteem, efficiency and staff preservation as well as improve patient
care, quality and safety. Clinical nurses and unit managers should foster a team approach that
encourages shared governance, ownership of practice, and the expression of ideas and opinions in
unit councils and committees (Linnen and Rowley, 2014). Nursing must have involvement and
leadership from the staff. Over time, lack of engagement from the team ends in decreased quality
of care and staff turnover. More emphasis should be seen on empowerment and work atmosphere
suggestions. This greatly influences staff retention. No team can deliver the best possible care for
patients when morale is low, nurses are burned out, and their voices and concerns are largely being

Dante,Circles, And Characters In Dante Alighieri
Dante Alighieri was a major Italian poet of the Late Middle Ages, he was born into a family with
a complex involvement in the Florence political scene. In the Dante Alighieri s epic poem The
Inferno, Dante, the protagonist, witnesses the Circles of Hell, guided by Virgil the character
representing Human Reason. Alighieri shows compassion towards different sinners in Hell, which
provides an insight on the way he feels about people who do not repent. Although they are
illustrated as good people by the poet, they are punished within the different circles of Hell because
they did not cleanse themselves of sin. Through the uses of diction, actions of Dante and Virgil, and
imagery, Alighieri was able to show readers he felt compassion towards Farinata Degli Uberti, Pier
Delle Vigne, and Count Ugliono.
Alighieri shows compassion towards a sinner in the Sixth Circle named Farinata Degli Uberti,
through the use of diction and actions of Virgil and Dante. Farinata Degli Uberti is one of the
damned who is punished for Heresy, a person who believed that the soul dies with the body,
denying life after death. As a Heretic, his body is exhumed and burned in a tomb endlessly.
When Virgil and Dante get to this Circle, they speak to Farinata Uberti which allows for his body
to rise from the tomb in order to speak to them, Erect, he rose above the flame, great chest, great

Elegant Viola Instrument Report
The elegant Viola
For this instrument report I will be expanding on my favorite instrument, which is the viola. I
decided to pick this particular instrument because I truly enjoy the harmonic, lively and mysterious
melodies it produces when it is being played. Additionally, when the viola is played along with
other instruments its musical ranges complements the songs because it can alter between Soprano
and Bass. Even though it usually does not have solo music composed for it the viola is a string
instrument that with its elegant harmony can powerfully bring a deep and rhythmic tone to an
orchestra performance. Another reason I chose the viola was because I briefly played it in middle
school from 7th until 8th grade and through those years

The Effective Language In Henry Lawson s Bush Undertaker
Henry Lawson presents descriptive language to represent the challenges of the bush and establishes
the hardship and loneliness derived from living in harsh conditions, conveying the differences
between poverty and wealth. In the Bush Undertaker, Lawson uses detailed and expressive
language to describe the setting such as the bank of a barren creek or broiling Christmas day ,
representing the scorching hot and dry climate of Australia. The experience of remaining in the
extreme heat of Australia conditions over an extended period shapes the individual s character. The
informal colloquial language of the solitary old shepherd is an effect of long term isolation and
loneliness due to the harsh reality of the Australian bush. Lawson describes the undertakeras a mad
hatter , displaying his madness through speaking his thoughts to himself and his animal
companion, Five Bob. I likes to keep it jist on the sizzle, he said in explanation to himself; hard
bilin makes it tough I ll keep it jist a simmerin . Here his soliloquy was interrupted by the return
of the dog. The undertaker s crazy character does not cease there. His infatuation for the
Aboriginal corpse further reveals his bizarre nature, for a normal suburban individual would be
repelled from that kind of situation. The hatter not only holds a conversation with the corpse but
also comes in to physical contact with it. Since he dwells in the poor, arid bush, resource is scarce,
therefore, the hatter is compelled

Denzel Washington Rhetorical Speech
In order to deliver a successful speech, there are countless qualities that must be present to reach
both the emotional and logical sense within a crowd. Through the use of rhetorical strategies
and by remaining credible, a speaker or an author can connect with their audience; getting them
involved with their writing. In May of 2011, a man by the name of Denzel Washington used
multiple rhetorical strategies to deliver a graduation speech at the University of Pennsylvania.
While revealing all of the difficult times that he had gone through while in college and
discovering what career he wanted to pursue, he inspired millions of people, leaving a profound
effect upon the world. Now, with millions of fans, Washington is a famous actor that has starred
in numerous movies such as Courage Under Fire, Crimson Tide, and Malcolm X. Washington,
along with the authors: Aristotle, Peter Elbow, and Donald Murray, and many others, have made
a big difference in the world, simply by using rhetorical strategies. The rhetorical strategy,
repetition, not only works to get the audience involved, it also makes the point of the speech clear
and helps appeal to the audience s emotion. Washington explained that he honestly never
understood why he would want to fall back on something, instead, he wanted to fall forward,
therefore; he would be able to see where he s actually going to fall. Fall forward. Here s what I

Wayne Williams Thesis Statement
Wayne Williams was born on May 27th, 1958 to Homer and Faye Williams of Atlanta, Georgia.
He graduated from Douglass High School and furthered his education at Georgia State
University, but later dropped out to explore a new talent. Williams took a specific interest in
music, pursuing a career in radio and managing a band. Williams educational background and
career both were pivotal to his defense. In 1979, children and teens seemed to simple vanish.
Each child met certain criteria: young, black, and from Atlanta. The first two victims, Edward
Smith and Alfred Evans, who were both 14 years old, disappeared four days apart in June. Both
of their bodies were found close together in a remote, wooded area of South Atlanta one month
later. Nine year old Yusuf Bell went missing on October 21st, 1979 and his body was recovered
November 8th of the same year. Police did not connect the dots with Bell s murderbecause he was
fully clothed, found in a remote area, but was strangled to death, unlike Smith and Evans, who
were shot with a .22 caliber. Williams next alleged victim, 12 year old Angel Lenair, was also
strangled. She was found in an abandoned lot, fully clothed, with child underwear stuffed in her
mouth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The racial tension and confession of KKK members surrounding the murder are also very
suspicious. Were the confessions thoroughly investigated? Witnesses of many of the child
murders also note two black men, not one. It is very hard to believe that only one person acted
alone to plan, kidnap, and murder all 30 victims of a two year span. If Williams was guilty, should
it have been more evidence and convicted of more than just two murders? I am unsure if Wayne
Williams committed these crimes, due to the lack of evidence, the ease of the trial, and biological

Nautical is a customized approach to cruising and will innovate the way cruise vacations are
researched. The concept was created after spending hours trying to compare cruises based on
my specific needs. Most cruise lines make it pretty easy to compare across their fleets but it is
nearly impossible to compare across cruise lines. Each popular travel website that also has
booking for other types of trips are simply not customized enough to give a cruiser the total
picture of what the pros and cons are to each cruise line. The final alternative is to use a travel
agent. This is still viable option in theory, a travel agent must not have a vested interest in selling
you on a certain cruise line and the traveler is savvy enough to understand what they need and
ask questions. Nautical is designed to be useful to both new and experienced cruisers in

The violence in video games is not always noticeable to most adults or more specifically the non

because of puberty and other teenage life problems, but, there are other reasons they are very
aggressive out of nowhere . The aggression really comes from the teenagers environment and/or
the violence in the video games they play. Kirsh stated that adolescents tend to play violent
video games in their development stage, which could cause them to respond to provocative
situations with the greatest aggression. (Kirsh 383) With teens going through their stages of
development they could think that the video games that they re playing frequently are normal

Animal Performers Research Paper
The Truth Behind Animal Performers If someone was repeatedly hit, stabbed and whipped for the
sake of entertainment, would we sit and watch? If someone was snatched from his family and
home, for the sake of entertainment, would we promote it? If someone s well being, happiness
and health was ignored for the sake of entertainment, would we allow it? These are the conditions
thousands of animals have to endure everyday. If they aren t acceptable for humans, they aren t
acceptable for animals. While many may believe animals in entertainment attractions are well taken
care of, they are abused daily and are forced to perform.

that contribute to large scale animal abuse. Also, they discovered that 80 percent of TripAdvisor

sanctuaries, involving 1,500 13,000 animals, were inclined to have positive effects on the animals
welfare. On the contrary, the welfare of 230,00 to 550,000 animals kept at other attractions were
negatively affected ( Global Scale 2015). However, it is possible for these depressing numbers of
abuse to decrease. If more of us are aware of the exploitation of entertainment animals, we can either
advocate for better treatment or shun such entertainment. This could cause the demand for such
shows to decrease. It would also motivate show owners to stop using animals, eliminating unfair

Sponsors Of Literacy Analysis
In Deborah Brandt s article, Sponsors of Literacy, she defines sponsors as, ... any agents, local or
distant, concrete or abstract, who enable, support, teach, model, as well as recruit, regulate,
suppress, or withhold literacy and gain advantage by it in some way (pp 166). There have been
a few people in my life who have done exactly that; they helped me gain knowledge on many
topics in hopes that I would find it informative and be able to better the world around me. My
father, for one, has been my literary sponsor for the sport of softball. This type of literacy is one
that is mostly for fun, but it also gave me incentive to spend time with my dad. He was the one
who taught me every aspect of the game (how to swing a bat, pitch the ball, and catch a pop fly).
When I wanted to work on hitting, he would bring me to a batting cage and pitch to me for as
long as I wanted. When I was in the mood to pitch, he would take me out in the backyard and
catch for me. At first there was a little bit of a problem with him teaching me softball because he
was used to baseball. Baseball and softball can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

given a chance to do something with the information you received. When you get the chance to
sponsor someone else, you are giving them a chance to bring new ideas to the table and to
improve themselves. As Brandt said, Literacy, like land, is a valued commodity in this economy,
a key resource in gaining profit and edge (169). So any time you have the chance to learn from

Photographer Techniques
A good photographer knows how to use some little tricks to create a pretty scene, and the good
photographer knows how to use small techniques to build the mood for the photo. Pretty scene
and mood of the photo together create the meaning for the photo, and they allure people to step

A Formal Analysis of Potential Career Choices
A Formal Analysis Of Potential Career Choices
Introduction A formal analysis of the characteristics and outlook for two possible career choices
Policeman vs. Lawyer is a valuable tool in the decision making process used by an employment
candidate to make a successful selection between them. New entrants into the job market face a
very competitive environment and training (or re training) for jobs is frequently expensive and
time consuming. Therefore there is a definite need to make one s career decisions using a
comprehensive, formal analysis in order to promote a successful and satisfying career choice.
Background information was gathered by a search of peer reviewed articles from governmental
and professional journal sources in the literature. These articles provided several important
variables to be considered in the methodology, including: (a) candidate gender; (b) candidate
ethnicity; (c) educational level; (d) physical demands; (e) mental/analytical demands; (f) pathways
to advancement; and (g) employment outlook. These decision variables are identified for each
potential career choice and then compared and contrasted between the career options. A conclusion
is then reached as to a recommended best fit option relative to a candidate s career goals and
interests.

This Family is further divided into three subfamilies: Alligatorinae (alligators), Gavialinae (gharial),
and Crocodylinae (crocodiles).
Very often the American alligator(Alligatorinae mississippiensis) is confused for an American
crocodile, even though these two species are of the same family they are different in many ways.
The alligator has a much broader snout and the crocodile a much narrower snout
¡§¡Knarrower snouts usually indicating fish eating species¡¨ (42). Another characteristic
seen in the American crocodile and not the alligator is the front two teeth that penetrate the upper
jaw from below as they grow (2 List). These teeth are one of the major differences between
crocodiles and alligators.
A not so recognizable difference between the American crocodile and alligator is the
crocodileВЎВ¦s ability to regulate saltwater balance in their body. Crocodiles maintain salt
concentrations in their body fluid at the typical level of other vertebrates, which is about one third
that of seawater (52). ВЎВ§The osmoregulatory problems posed by life in fresh or saline waters
are related to the amounts of water and salts exchanged across various body surfaces. Loss of
salts and water occurs in feces and urine, through respiration, excretion from salt glands in the
tongue, and through the skin. The ability of the American crocodile to tolerate salt water is related
to their low rate of water loss, low rate of sodium uptake, the ability to excrete excess

The One Child Policy Restricted Citizens Of China
The one child policy restricted citizens of China to one child per family. This family planning
policy was created in 1980 to help a growing population. The effects of this policy included millions
of forced abortions and sterilizations (Wong 2). In 2013, the policy was relaxed because the drop in
population created an age gap in China. Also the ratio of males to females became unequal. There
were up to 116.9 boys for every 100 girls in China (Luo 2). The old continuity was a one child

At its peak in the 1960s, the fertility rate was 5.8 babies for each woman of childbearing age

families in urban areas to one child and families in rural and pastoral areas to a maximum of two

Industrial Melanism Of Biston Betularia
Industrial Melanism of Biston Betularia or the Peppered Moth in England has been a textbook
example of natural selection since it was first noticed. Before the industrial revolution the peppered
moth was most commonly found in the light colored Typica variety. During the industrial
revolution there was a significant rise in the dark Carbonaria form and a slight rise in the
intermediate Insularia form. Beginning in 1970 the Typica variety has been returning to the
common variety of peppered moth. This change has been assumed to be caused by increased
predation on moths that did not blend into the bark on trees (Cook et al 2012). Before the
industrial revolution the trees were light colored and covered in lichens and the Typica variety
blended in well. The Carbonaria variety did not blend in and was naturally selected against by
birds praying on them. During the industrial revolution the trees became darker due to soot and the
lichens died. In this new environment Carbonaria had better camouflage and the Typica was
naturally selected against. Since modern laws have cleaned up the air the trees are lighter again
and the Typica variety is again being positively selected (Kettlewell 1956). Melanismis a heritable
trait that is dominant for Carbonaria and recessive for Typica. There is another allele that is on
the same locus for melanism. This allele forms the Insularia variety and is recessive to the
Carbonaria allele and dominant to the Typica allele (Cook et al 2012). Because

Public Good
As a child, I was taught that the Public Good is anything and almost everything that is beneficial
not only to most of the members of our society, but especially to those who are among the weakest
and the most vulnerable. Sometimes, in order to achieve a Public Good, sacrifices are necessary,
but the line between Ethical and Good may sometimes become muddled. Nonetheless, my
definition of the Public Goodincludes products or services provided by non profit organizations,
welfare programs, and information or technologies that lead to the increased well being of others.
The way I was brought up through both my parental socialization and elementary education has
been fundamental to my personal understanding of the Public Good.
Of all influencers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout my elementary education, it had been drilled into my head that I was privileged to
have been born in this technological age, to live in this country, and especially to have the
opportunity to attain the education that I was getting. Technology, liberty, and access to free public
education were all Public Goods that I was fortuitously born into. My high school socialization
only further reinforced this notion by not only validating these definitions, but also integrated the
idea of giving back as part of the Public Good. This concept of altruism could be manifested
through the donation of goods, time, or money, and was an important aspect of my educational
socialization of what norms were defined as good. I was taught that in a capitalist society, one of
the key aspects of good is giving, as a voluntary act which will benefit others. At my high school,
membership in extracurricular organizations like Key Club, National Honor Society, BuildOn, and
Habitat for Humanity considered prestigious. Furthermore a substantial number of community
service hours were required to graduate high school, underscoring the importance of collective
contribution to the the Public Good. The requirement of community service, however large or
small, in order to even be considered a student deserving of passing secondary education, made it
inevitable that the concept of altruism would integrate itself into my pre college foundation of the
concept of the Public

Character Analysis Of The Snow In Trapped, By Michael...
It was one of those bull s eyes in history, one of those points where everything comes together,
where, if you were at that place at that time, you were part of something big. It meant that we
weren t going to get picked up, not on that day and maybe not ever (Northrop 1). The mood created
by Northrop in Trapped is displayed to the readers as negative vibe. Being trapped at a school in a
blizzardis obviously not a good thing. So, as a visual representation to the teenagers situation, the
snowis described negatively too. In the book Trapped, Michael Northrop uses the snow to
symbolize dreadful times and loneliness. Throughout the text, Michael mentions the snow.
Considering the book s about a blizzard, that d be normal, right? However, in my view, the snow
symbolizes something, like dreadful times. Scattered around, the context surrounding the snow
can be interpreted as how you feel during those times. For example, later in the book, when the
students realize just how bad it is, they explain it as, There was no higher ground, no place left
for us to go (Northrop 158). Here, a relation to people feeling as if there s nowhere else to go, so
they re trapped in the horrible event occurring can be made. Results tend to be mourning over
those poor times in people s lives. Similarly, Michael connects that to how we view bad
situations. Early on in the book, description of the snow is showed as it being small flakes , like
grains of sugar... the flakes had fattened up and

A Summary Of The Iroquois Creation Story
The Iroquois Creation story, as told by Gregory Railsback, Two brothers and their Grandmother,
clearly shows a culture focused on good and evil, gender roles, and hierarchy authority. This
story comes from Native Americans and was about people living on the sky and were ruled by a
chief. The daughter was so sick that she could not be cured. A person had a dream that the only
way to cure the chief s daughter was to dig up the tree. The people brought the chief s daughter
to the tree to be cured. One person was angry that the tree had been digged up, so he pushed the
women into the dark hole. While she was falling, light came out. The animals saved the women
from the water and put her on the back of the turtle, where then a land was created. The women
gave birth to a girl and later, the girl gave birth to twins which caused the girl s death. One of the
twins represented eviland the other good. The twins had a battle and the older brother was killed
(Railsback).
In the myth shows good and evil in people, their belief is that when a child is born into the world,
they are born evil or good, a good child would help, care for others and does good deeds. An evil
child would harm others, have hate, and are manipulative to the world. In the Iroquois religion
shows how good and evil was brought into the world in the story. It also shows what happens to
the Iroquois people when they die. For example, the people who do good things and die will go to
the sky world, and the evil people

Essay True North Book Review
Destiny, with credit to Professor Nettifee brought the book True North: Discover Your Authentic
Leadership into my life and I want to bring it into the lives of others. More specifically those
who may believe they weren t born with the characteristics or traits to become a leader or those
who have not found their passion or purpose in life; their True North. The book, written by Bill
George and co author Peter Sims, compiles a series of interviews with 125 managers from
Howard Schultz of Starbuck s to Dan Vasella of Novartis. The interviewees guide readers through
their journey to become the leaders they are today; discussing their failures, successes, obstacles,
personal tragedies and triumphs. The stories of each manager prove the True... Show more content

They temporarily lose sight of what is really important by focusing on themselves; personal success
vs. team success. They can get back on the path towards authentic leadership by realizing leadership
is not about themselves, it is about empowering others.
Transformation from I to We This transformation occurs in Phase II of the leadership development.
This is when we realize that leadership is not about giving subordinates directions and orders to
follow. It is about empowering people to grow to their fullest potentials.
Part II: Discover Your Authentic Leadership
Knowing your Authentic Self
The book teaches the important of being self aware in order to choose the right role for you, be
comfortable in your own skin, act consistently in different situations, gain trust of others, build
strong relationships, and to know your strengths and weaknesses. Without self awareness, we
would be easily thrown off our True North path. The book provides a method for finding your true
self called Peeling Back the Onion. The process begins with looking at your outer layers such as
body language, attire, appearance and leadership style and then goes deeper to strengths,
weaknesses, motivations values and then to understanding your life story, vulnerabilities, etc and
then finally to your authentic self. See Exhibit 2 in the Appendices.

Reflection On Borderline Personality Disorder
Reflection Number Three Over the past few units, I have greatly expanded my knowledge about
several different psychological topics. Though many of the topics that were discussed sparked my
interest, there were two types of disorders that furthered my knowledge, but also eliminated some
stereotypes that I had about them. The two main areas that I learned more about regarding these
disorders were characteristics of the disorders and different methods of treatment. A common theme
that has been discussed in multiple different units is that several psychological disorders can have
similar symptoms and characteristics. It is crucial to understand what makes one psychological
disorder different than another one. Determining what type of disorders an individual might have
can lead to better and more accurate treatment options; treatments methods are important because
they help individuals manage their disorders. The two disorders that I found to be the most
important and most interesting are borderline personality disorderand schizophrenia. Borderline
personality disorder is associated with a variety of different components and symptoms. The two
main areas that borderline personality disorder is related to are moods and relationships; both of
these areas tend to be quite unstable. The element about borderline personality disorder that I was
not aware of was the increased risk that they have of injury or even death by their own hands. It is a
common stereotype that is depicted in the media that those with psychological disorders are always
acting sporadically and causing harm. It was discussed in this unit that the main reason these
individuals are risks to themselves is because of instability, dysfunction, and impulsivity. Though
these elements may sound like they match what is portrayed in the media, there are deeper
meanings behind them that can cause dangerous behaviors. Instability is associated with
relationships; individuals with borderline personality disorder often have unstable relationships
because of their lack of emotional control, which can then lead to a constant fear of abandonment.
Dysfunction is associated with unstable emotions and is often a good predictor of potential suicidal
thoughts and

Jack Sparrow And The Golden Age Of Piracy
The Golden Age of Piracy is the subject of many Hollywood films. One of the most popular film
series in recent years is the series Pirates of the Caribbean. But how accurately does the movie
capture the Golden Age of Piracy that spanned from the 1650 s to the 1730 s? In order to answer
this question, a team of researchers will examine the mythology, the pirate s code, the weapons,
and compare real pirates to the main protagonist, Jack Sparrow in the movie to see if he closely
resembles the pirates of real life. Pirates are associated with many things including treasure, their
code, their weapons, and the mythology. In the movie the Black Pearl s crew kidnap the daughter
of the governor of Port Royal, Jamaica (under English rule). Jack Sparrow... Show more content on

Chain and bar shots were used to rip through sails, masts, and rigging. They were loaded into
cannons. The chain shot had two balls with a chain in between the balls, the bar shot had a bar
between two metal balls. Round shots were little balls put in cannons that had a splintering
effect on the ship, these shots were aimed for the hull. In the movie there were a few shots of
Barbossa s crew stuffing in all of these shots and shooting them at Captain Jack sparrows ship.
They also included how much damage these shots made on the ships in the movie. This next
weapon is a classic pirate weapon, a cannon. They were huge metal almost like shooters that
could be loaded with things to shoot at ships. This weapon was spotted many times in the movie
during ship fights. Cutlery, like forks and knives, were stuffed in cannons if pirates didn t have
any chain, bar, or round shots. They stuffed anything in a cannon that looked sharp and ready to do
some damage. Captain Jack Sparrow s crew did not have any weapons for the cannons so they used
cutlery in their cannons, this action is historically

I have chosen to pursue a career in computer science, because it has been a heavy influence on
me throughout my life. All my life I have been surrounded by technology, almost more than half
of my family has a career in the IT field, which is what sparked my interest. My earliest memory
of when I first became interested was when I was about 6 and my mother bought me a phonics
dog, and I was more interested in how it worked rather than what it did. I then saw the screw
bolts and knew if I used a screwdriver I could see the inside of the toy so I opened it, and from
then on I knew I was interested in technology. In middle school was when I first took my actual

The Giver, By Lois Lowry
Would you like to live in a society where anger, greed, hate and pain are eliminated? A society
where differences are nonexistent and the feelings of envy and jealousy are extinct? It sounds
wonderful, but what does this society cost its citizens? Lois Lowry wrote The Giver, and when it
adapted into the film, it is directed by Phillip Noyce. The film takes place in a society that has
eliminated the differences within people. They have little emotion, cannot see colors, and have no
memory of all the past events like war, pain, animals, and emotions. They are all assigned jobs at
a young age and Jonas is assigned as the receiver of memory. He keeps all the memories of the
past to provide wisdom for the future. Once the current receiver of memory (the giver) gives him all
of these memories and emotions he realizes that keeping all of these things from the community is
wrong. He sees his father releasing (killing) babies and his father did not realize he was killing
them. Jonas family was caring for a child that was not mature enough to be in the nurturing center
and is eventually scheduled to be released. Jonas took the baby out of the community, crossed the
boundary and restores all the emotions and memories to the entire population. Is a perfect,
predictable, systematic society worth sacrificing personal choice and emotional individuality? No,
emotions and personal choices give our lives purpose, drives us to become more; these things make
us human. The intended

What Is The Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby
In the fiction novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the story is told from the first person
point of view through Nick Carraway, retelling the accounts of our protagonist, Jay Gatsby.
Throughout this piece, Jay Gatsby strives to be with his so called true love , Daisy, but soon finds
out that she married another man, which creates conflict between many of the characters. The
Great Gatsbyhas an abundance of symbols throughout the entire text, including the Valley of
Ashes representing the moral and social decay of society in the 1920s, the green light
symbolizing Gatsby s desire to have Daisy as well as the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleberg representing
God piercing down upon and judging the American society of this era. One... Show more content on

To explain not only do they live in an atmosphere full of ash, but it is turning regular humans into
ash grey men who swarm like insects around the factories and cargo trains (that s the line of grey
cars ). These are the people who do not get to enjoy either the luxury of life out on Long Island or
the faster paced anonymous fun that Nick finds himself enjoying in Manhattan. In the novel s
world of haves and have nots, these are the have nots. In conclusion, the Valley of Ashes shows
the social decay that results from the wealthy indulging people of West and East Egg taking
advantage society and leaving the poor have to live among the ashes. Another major symbol in
the great gatsby that relates to the social decay of society is the green light, which represents
gatsby s hopes and dreams for his future which is associated with daisy. But it doesn t just relate
to the social decay, but also the way on how corrupt minds view the American dream and what it
should be. Gatsby is hoping that his dream can become a reality so he can stop being lonely and
finally fill that missing piece of his life. He looks at this light every night, he stretched out his
arms toward the dark water in a curious way as he looks at the light he imagines himself in a
happy home with daisy and everything is great in his mind which is what he wants.

Car Wreck Research Paper
Whenever I see a car wreck, I recall my wreck several years ago that could have very easily cost me
my life. Living through that experience has helped me to value every day more than before and
may also be the reason I always feel the need to stop and help those on the roadside. Years later I
can see that my familys car wreck was a unique event in my life that changed my perception of life.
I can still hear the quiet dripping of rain when I awoke on the morning before the accident. The
sun was barely breaking through my window s blinds with a yellow and gold glow when I
opened my eyes. Glancing at the clock, I saw that it was 8am, and my family was going to a
church service as was their usual routine. After dragging myself out of bed and dressing the part, I
headed to the kitchen to eat. Steaming stacks of chocolate chip pancakes drizzled with hot maple
syrup awaited me.
After I had finished eating, I dozed off in the car as I waited for my parents and brother. While I
had not stayed up too late to read the night before, I have never been a morning person, so my
mind was still foggy when my family entered the car. As we left home, my parents had started
arguing about something which held nothing but the promise of a trying day. As we neared the

The Power of the Sky Goddess Nut In Egyptian Mythology (Outline)
ABSTRACT
On the ceiling of the Hypostyle Hall in the Temple of Hathor are seven bands of astronomical
figures showing the Romans signs of the zodiac, vultures and winged sun disks. Stretching over
these painted raised reliefs is a depiction of the sky goddess Nut, the mother of Osiris, Isis,
Nephthys, Horus and Seth. Nut was depicted as the sky. She takes on the role of mother to the stars
and the sun, swallowing the sun god each night and giving birth to the sun each day, thus
controlling the passage of time. Nut also controlled the passage of the deceased between life and
death. Her important role was often demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was separated from Nut by Shu to give order to the universe. This is illustrated in tomb
paintings, which show her body arched over the Earth as her father Shu supports her with upraised
arms.
She gave birth to Isis, Osiris, Nephthys, Seth and Horus.
NUT AND THE SUN GOD:
As described in pyramid texts, Nut controls the rising and setting of the sun. She gives birth to the
sun god Ra each day, causing the sun to rise into the sky. When the sun sets, Nut is swallowing the
Re until the next morning, when she will give birth to him again.
II.THE FUNCTION OF NUT IN EGYPTIAN ART
NUT AS THE BEARER OF THE GODS:
Nut is described as bearer of the gods. She plays an important role as mother of the king by giving
the king safe passage into the afterlife where he may then achieve life among the gods.
NUT AS THE KEEPER OF TIME:
Nut was known to be the keeper of time as she bears the sun daily and controls the seasonal
movement of the sun. She is shown in the Dendera temple next to the Dendera zodiac. Her body
is also depicted as a celestial map in earlier paintings of coffin lids. This showed Nut s powerful
control over the movements of constellations, thus showing that her presence is vital to the passage
of time.
Other texts indicate Nut s reunification with Geb is what causes

Review of English Semester Essay
English 101 60 has taught me many things and has helped me grow and develop my skills as a
writer. It has taught me how to think more creatively and use clear concrete details. In the
beginning of the semester, our first writing assignment was a narrative journal entry that focused
on writing about an uninteresting moment from your life and making it interesting. This was a
challenging assignment because it was a broad topic that allowed the writers to take it in any
direction. I remember thinking I had no idea what I am going to write about. Once I was able to
narrow down the ideas I started writingwhat a traumatic experience I had six years ago. This was
when I underwent the surgical procedure, to remove my gallbladder. My main focus... Show more

Once I found that topic, I was able to start writing the research paper, My group faced a couple of
challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges we faced was all of us meeting the
length requirement because were all still in the beginning stages of the assignment. The
workshop group was a new experience for me because I have never worked with that many
person, this kind of overwhelmed me because there was so many opinion on one paper. The
groups weakness was, our lack of organization. Fortunately, we were able to make this up with
all of us being very truthful towards each other and not sugarcoating the revisions we suggested
among our papers. We all accomplished the beginning stages of writing our research papers and
making sure everyone had their thesis there. Over the semester I have been challenged and
intrigued over and over by the content of this course and the professor, who thought I could
develop a fairly strong paper if it was not for all my grammatical errors. It has been a very
enlightening and enthralling experience that has taught me a new way to write a paper. In high
school there was only one way to write and that was it. I think that this class is a great way for
students to think out of the box, rather than having to be stuck. It allows them to write more freely
about a subject, and I am very thankful for that. I have learned many new skills and improved the
skills I already

Kiangsu is now a province holding the name Jiangsu. It is an eastern coastal province of the
Peoples Republic of China. Jiangsu is the fifth most populated province, but is the second

of over 620 miles (1000 kilometers). It is named after two of the cities Jiangning, now known as
Nanjing, and Suzhou. Since the Tang and Sui dynasties this province has become one of the
nation s economic and commercial centers, partially because of the construction of the Grand

Plains cover sixty eight percent of the total area, with water covering another eighteen percent. Most
of the province is not more than one hundred sixty four feet (fifty meters) above sea level. It has an
amazing irrigation system for farming and manufacturing in the southern half of the province.
Suzhou is crisscrossed with canals earning it the name Venice of the East, after the canals in Venice,

Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming
Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the
most basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family
or a community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and
not intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and
needs to change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine
are to be eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they
are not only technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many
feminist voices have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for
the harmony and relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human
relationships, ecology and togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this
perspective, subsistence farming does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation
or even labor specialization. Since funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are
organic and genetically modified seeds are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You
will learn from history that subsistence farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa,
South and Central America. Over the years; take the example of British colonized Kenya. Many
subsistence farmers in Kenya where pushed

  • 2. The Location Of An Ecosystem Location The location of an ecosystem affects its functioning. At a global scale, latitude, distance from the sea and altitude play decisive roles in determining climate and ultimately the nature of particular ecosystems. The Great Barrier Reef is found along the Queensland coastline. It stretches as far north as Papa New Guinea, 8o South Latitude, to just above (north) of Fraser Island, 24o South Latitude, (an approximate 2300 Km stretch). There are four main regions along the Great Barrier Reef. These are The Northern, Central, Mackay, and Southern Region. The Great Barrier Reef also has continuity both geographically and temporally. Reef drilling data has proved that the reef in the north is 1km to 2km s thick and existed about 15 million years ago. However the southern region of the reef is much thinner at only 120 meters thick and younger at only about 2 million years. Due to this location the corals which require a very specific conditions are able to grow due to the right amount of light which is the main food source of the zooxanthellae which are organisms contained in the corals. Corals are limited to areas of the sea where the water temperature does not fall below 17 degrees Celsius and doesn t exceed 34 degrees Celsius and the coralsystem prefers to be in a relatively stable saline conditions as elevated levels stunt coral growth and low levels will result in the zooxanthellae dying. Thus creating a very vulnerable ecosystem due to the specifics of the coral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Dna Barcoding And Its Effects On The Malaysian Market There is very little customers can do to ensure that they are purchasing the fish they are paying for. Producers and restaurants owners have a tendency to mislabel their products for their own reasons. The main reason is yet to be determined but there are researchers who have made it their goal to resolve this dispute and show customers what they are truly buying. Too Chin Chin et al. attempt to utilize the DNAbarcoding in the fish segment, to assess the frequency of fish mislabeling on the Malaysian market (2015). DNA barcoding tries to standardize scientific classification by using short, single DNA sequence, for example, part of the mitochondrial gene COI to distinguish between species (Larson, 2007). The process begins with extracting DNA and using primers to amplify COI regions from the DNA extracts via PCR. The sequences attained are compared to the available sequences in Bold and GenBank databases to find the mislabeled products. Similarly, a character based key can also be constructed to review the reference sequences for variable nucleotides that can serve as diagnostics for the species you wish to study (Loweinstein, 2009). Along with Too Chin Chin et al., there are other researchers who based their study on the same concept to find mislabeled seafood products in certain parts of the world. Dana Miller et al. examined seafood fraud in two types of Whitefish in Europe. Although, the motivation for these works are to find mislabeling in products using the standard ... John the Baptist, after witnessing the descent of the Holy Spirit as a dove at the baptism of Jesus, recorded Most Pentecostal, and Charismatic believe that tongues are the initial sign of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts is its foundation stone. If the book of Acts were excluded from the discussion, there would be no other source of information since the only other passage in the New Testament that discusses tongues at any length is 1 Corinthians 12 14 which clearly teaches all do not speak in tongues. Also, Paul examines tongues as one of many differing spiritual gifts that are given freely by the Spirit after one has been baptized by the Spirit into the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13). In Charismatic Theology, Stronstad states, And tongues is the sign that all who belong to this charismatic community have been empowered by the Spirit for charismatic ministry. I choose the charismatic gifts debate because coming from a Pentecostal/Charismatic background growing up in church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I saw the gifts in action.

  • 8. The Importance Of Artifice In Society Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret that artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As illustrated by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to become so ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the entertainment industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more likely to be disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has seen more abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that newspapers skew reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior motives. Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in society, and their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within the United States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to expose this behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery remains essential for success in media and politics. Cystic hydatid disease still represents a neglected disease despite being highly endemic in a myriad of livestock raising regions worldwide, and this case presentation makes evident how diverse the localization and clinical manifestations of this infection can be. With this comment, our aim is to extend the discussion by highlighting several important issues. The described patient initially presented with recurrent arterial embolic events, which is an unusual manifestation of this disease. The hydatid embolism usually stems from spontaneous or traumatic rupture of the hydatid cyst, with only a several case reports describing such events in the literature [2]. Albeit significant efforts have been made to improve this percentage using synthetic peptides, recombinant proteins and combinations of defined antigens, it must be noted that only 60% 80% of infected individuals become seropositive [3]. Furthermore, 10% 15% of serological examinations return negative results due to the wall thickness of the individual hydatid cysts. Surprisingly, the directors of the movie did get the accuracy of the aircraft they acquired throughout the duration of the movie. It pinpointed the racial tension between troops, but also showed the desegregation that occurred after the two racial groups started journeying in more missions. There may be no tool in the history of mankind that could be both so helpful, yet so frustrating, at the same time. Nonetheless, it is unquestionably the most important device for improving your technical proficiency. While there are an infinite number of ways to utilize, my favourite method is what I like to call overshooting. It works by taking a difficult passage of music, and starting by playing it at an extremely slow tempo. Gradually increase the speed (no more than 3 beats per minute) until it becomes modestly difficult. Then increase the speed way above where you are at, and ... Choose Your Picks Wisely While your choice of guitarpick does not make or break your skill as a guitarist, it can certainly ease a lot of issues relatively quickly. While it s a bit of a polarizing opinion, myself and many other guitarists believe that there is really no purpose for thin picks. This is backed up by studying the picks used by famous lead guitarists; nearly none of them were flexible or thin. Stick with picks thicker than 1.5 millimeters, even as thick as 3+ millimeters if you are a jazz guitarist! Shape has a bit more leniency, but you ll want to tend for smaller, pointier picks as they move through the strings much easier and with less pick noise. There is no finer example of this than Dunlop s Jazz III picks, as loved by Eric Johnson, John Petrucci and Kirk Hammett. Bear in mind that if you just don t like the shape, there is nothing wrong with defaulting to your personal preference. Django Reinhardt revolutionized lead guitar playing, and he was known to play with a shirt button at times! 11. Speaking to NPR s Lulu Garcia Navarro Sunday, the retired tennis legend said that Serena Williams, who is the top ranked female tennis player in the world, is nowhere close the best overall pro. If she played in the world of men s tennis, she d be ranked 700 in the world, said McEnroe. At 55 years old, a tennis legend named Bobby Riggs stated he could beat any women player. King was up for the challenge, and the way Riggs got ready was to make rude and unnecessary comments. Jesse Greenspan recalled, Riggs made things more interesting by saying rude comments, including that the best way to handle a woman is to keep her pregnant and barefoot. Before the match took place, the comment made about how to handle a woman wasn t right. He was saying how women only should be used to make children and follow their husbands. Despite his reputation as a leader, Washington was not always flawless in his military exploits. His time in the French and Indian War granted him the experiences and skills needed to be effective as commander of the Continental Army, and not all of these experiences included victories. It was the knowledge Washington gained in the French and Indian War, and the war itself, that helped the colonies to obtain their independence from Great Britain. • 18. How Chiropractic Is A Discipline Of Health Science What is Chiropractics? Chiropractic is a discipline in health science that focuses on restoring health through basic and natural hands on care without taking a surgical or long term medicinal approach. As most of us know that the conventional allopathic medicinal approach targets curing the illness through a set of drug therapy or surgery, the approach of chiropracticis totally different. The primary goal of chiropractic is to alleviate back pain through spine adjustment. Because human spine is a very complex structure, the primary avenue of care in chiropractic is to make your spine more flexible in order to improve your mobility and strength. A licensed chiropractor does spine adjustment, spinal decompression, health assessment for pain management and back bone alignment procedures. A number of times, people suffering from intense back or joint pain complain about nerve pain too. That s because the nerve existing in that joint doesn t get a free space due to misalignment of the spine or joint bones. Because of the misaligned articulation of the joints, existing nerves can be hugely affected. This is when a chiropractor makes some adjustment to align the joint bones or spinal bones. In short, the chiropractor manually repositions these joints. This will reduce the pain associated with the joints and improve your strength and flexibility. • 35. The One Child Policy Restricted Citizens Of China The one child policy restricted citizens of China to one child per family. This family planning policy was created in 1980 to help a growing population. The effects of this policy included millions of forced abortions and sterilizations (Wong 2). In 2013, the policy was relaxed because the drop in population created an age gap in China. Also the ratio of males to females became unequal. There were up to 116.9 boys for every 100 girls in China (Luo 2). The old continuity was a one child policyput into place for over thirty years. Before the industrial revolution the peppered moth was most commonly found in the light colored Typica variety. During the industrial revolution there was a significant rise in the dark Carbonaria form and a slight rise in the intermediate Insularia form. Beginning in 1970 the Typica variety has been returning to the common variety of peppered moth. This change has been assumed to be caused by increased predation on moths that did not blend into the bark on trees (Cook et al 2012). Before the industrial revolution the trees were light colored and covered in lichens and the Typica variety blended in well. The Carbonaria variety did not blend in and was naturally selected against by birds praying on them. During the industrial revolution the trees became darker due to soot and the lichens died. In this new environment Carbonaria had better camouflage and the Typica was naturally selected against. Since modern laws have cleaned up the air the trees are lighter again and the Typica variety is again being positively selected (Kettlewell 1956). My high school socialization only further reinforced this notion by not only validating these definitions, but also integrated the idea of giving back as part of the Public Good. This concept of altruism could be manifested through the donation of goods, time, or money, and was an important aspect of my educational socialization of what norms were defined as good. It was one of those bull s eyes in history, one of those points where everything comes together, where, if you were at that place at that time, you were part of something big. It meant that we weren t going to get picked up, not on that day and maybe not ever (Northrop 1). The mood created by Northrop in Trapped is displayed to the readers as negative vibe. Being trapped at a school in a blizzardis obviously not a good thing. So, as a visual representation to the teenagers situation, the snowis described negatively too. In the book Trapped, Michael Northrop uses the snow to symbolize dreadful times and loneliness. Throughout the text, Michael mentions the snow. Considering the book s about a blizzard, that d be normal, right? However, in my view, the snow symbolizes something, like dreadful times. Scattered around, the context surrounding the snow can be interpreted as how you feel during those times. For example, later in the book, when the students realize just how bad it is, they explain it as, There was no higher ground, no place left for us to go (Northrop 158). Here, a relation to people feeling as if there s nowhere else to go, so they re trapped in the horrible event occurring can be made. Results tend to be mourning over those poor times in people s lives. Similarly, Michael connects that to how we view bad situations. A Summary Of The Iroquois Creation Story The Iroquois Creation story, as told by Gregory Railsback, Two brothers and their Grandmother, clearly shows a culture focused on good and evil, gender roles, and hierarchy authority. A person had a dream that the only way to cure the chief s daughter was to dig up the tree. The people brought the chief s daughter to the tree to be cured. One person was angry that the tree had been digged up, so he pushed the women into the dark hole. While she was falling, light came out. The animals saved the women from the water and put her on the back of the turtle, where then a land was created. • 45. Reflection On Borderline Personality Disorder Reflection Number Three Over the past few units, I have greatly expanded my knowledge about several different psychological topics. Though many of the topics that were discussed sparked my interest, there were two types of disorders that furthered my knowledge, but also eliminated some stereotypes that I had about them. The two main areas that I learned more about regarding these disorders were characteristics of the disorders and different methods of treatment. A common theme that has been discussed in multiple different units is that several psychological disorders can have similar symptoms and characteristics. It is crucial to understand what makes one psychological disorder different than another one. Determining what type of disorders an individual might have can lead to better and more accurate treatment options; treatments methods are important because they help individuals manage their disorders. The two disorders that I found to be the most important and most interesting are borderline personality disorderand schizophrenia. Borderline personality disorder is associated with a variety of different components and symptoms. The two main areas that borderline personality disorder is related to are moods and relationships; both of these areas tend to be quite unstable. The element about borderline personality disorder that I was not aware of was the increased risk that they have of injury or even death by their own hands. It is a common stereotype that is depicted in the media that those with psychological disorders are always acting sporadically and causing harm. It was discussed in this unit that the main reason these individuals are risks to themselves is because of instability, dysfunction, and impulsivity. Though these elements may sound like they match what is portrayed in the media, there are deeper meanings behind them that can cause dangerous behaviors. Instability is associated with relationships; individuals with borderline personality disorder often have unstable relationships because of their lack of emotional control, which can then lead to a constant fear of abandonment. Dysfunction is associated with unstable emotions and is often a good predictor of potential suicidal thoughts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Review of English Semester Essay English 101 60 has taught me many things and has helped me grow and develop my skills as a writer. It has taught me how to think more creatively and use clear concrete details. In the beginning of the semester, our first writing assignment was a narrative journal entry that focused on writing about an uninteresting moment from your life and making it interesting. This was a challenging assignment because it was a broad topic that allowed the writers to take it in any direction. I remember thinking I had no idea what I am going to write about. Once I was able to narrow down the ideas I started writingwhat a traumatic experience I had six years ago. This was when I underwent the surgical procedure, to remove my gallbladder. My main focus... One of the biggest challenges we faced was all of us meeting the length requirement because were all still in the beginning stages of the assignment. The workshop group was a new experience for me because I have never worked with that many person, this kind of overwhelmed me because there was so many opinion on one paper. The groups weakness was, our lack of organization. Fortunately, we were able to make this up with all of us being very truthful towards each other and not sugarcoating the revisions we suggested among our papers. We all accomplished the beginning stages of writing our research papers and making sure everyone had their thesis there. Over the semester I have been challenged and intrigued over and over by the content of this course and the professor, who thought I could develop a fairly strong paper if it was not for all my grammatical errors. It has been a very enlightening and enthralling experience that has taught me a new way to write a paper. In high school there was only one way to write and that was it. I think that this class is a great way for students to think out of the box, rather than having to be stuck. It allows them to write more freely about a subject, and I am very thankful for that. I have learned many new skills and improved the skills I already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the most basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family or a community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and not intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and needs to change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine are to be eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they are not only technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many feminist voices have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for the harmony and relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human relationships, ecology and togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this perspective, subsistence farming does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation or even labor specialization. Since funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are organic and genetically modified seeds are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You will learn from history that subsistence farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, South and Central America. Over the years; take the example of British colonized Kenya. Many subsistence farmers in Kenya where pushed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
