Essay On Three Phase Inverter
Project objectives This project is aim to study the principle of pwm, single phase inverter, three
phase inverter which leading to design a three phase inverter(DC AC) by using the mbed to
control switch. This inverter will be intended to drive an induction motor which may need to
drive. The work will involve simulation study of PWM generators, induction motors and device
selected from. Introduction, motivation and problem statement. Introduction Nowadays, some
electric cars which use induction motor with inverters instead of use DC motor that can be
powered directly from their DC batteries. For example, tesla cars use ac motor instead of dc
motor. In the world, there are three main types of motors which be used in electric cars, Brush
DC motor, Brushless DC motor and induction motor. However, when companies design all the
electric vehicles, they will think about some parameters and these can be divided into 6 parts.
Firstly, in the efficiency part, when use dc controller with Brush DC motor, the efficiency of it is
94%. However, when Brushless DC motor and induction motor use inverters, the efficiency of
them are about 97%. Secondly, in the wear/service part, Brushes are subject to wear and require
periodic replacement and Brushless DC motor and induction motor are lifetime. Thirdly, in the
specific cost which includes cost of inverter part, the Brush DC motor is very low, because motor
and controller are generally inexpensive. The cost of Brushless DC motor is very

The Evolution of Women s Surfing
Madison Ronnow
Since the beginning of time, women have felt as if they are inadequate to hold positions of power
in competition with men. As a entity women have joined together in an effort to push through
barriers put up by society. Motivated by their aspirations to be of equal status as men, women have
accomplished many great things. In the book Mavericks by Matt Warshaw, there is a section where
he talks about how women were not prevalent in surfing and were told that they shouldn t be
allowed to be big wave surfers. The following information will shed some light on the most
pivotable movements accomplished by women, and events in surfing that changed the sport for
women across the globe.
Mavericks is a surfing location in Northern California known for its record breaking waves
caused by an unusually shaped rock formation. Very few big wave surfers chose to ride these
waves because of the hazardous, sometimes deadly, conditions. Jeff Clark, otherwise known as
the Mavericks Man, was the first man to ever surf Mavericks and continued to be the only man to
ride the waves for several years. Clark was 17 the first time he went out and surfed Mavericks; the
first day he surfed at Mavericks the waves topped out at 25 feet. In 1999 the first Titans of
Mavericks was held, a surfing contest at Mavericks, 24 big wave surfers were asked to compete.
The contest is held every year

Nurses Are A Service For Quality Care And Promote...
Nurses are at the forefront of healthcare acting as the liaison between the doctors, patients, families,
social work, etc. Their goal is patient centered care that includes alleviating vulnerabilities, both
physiologic and interpersonal; it also includes therapeutic engagement and developing a relationship
in a manner that is reinforced by the information practices of a particular setting (Hobbs, 2009). In
order to provide quality care and promote successful consumer relationships, each nursemust take
on the responsibility of service, advocacy, teaching, and leadership.
Service orientation refers to patient focused care. Yoder Wise states that a service orientation
means delivering services in a manner that is least disruptive. When possible, services should be
as easy, comfortable, pleasant, and effective as possible (p. 416). In order for quality service to
be provided, nursing care must be clinically correct (product aspect) and satisfying to the
consumer (service orientation) (Yoder Wise, 2015). For instance, in the intensive care unit (ICU)
we have varying care bundles such as a foley bundle and PM care bundle. The product aspect of
the PM care bundle is to provide oral care, document intake and output, perform foley care, and
reposition the patient. The service orientation portion of the PM care bundle is to disrupt the
patient as little as possible. Sleep is important for overcoming illnesses and the ICU environment
makes that difficult for patients. By bundling

The Company Implemented Sap, And Enterprise Resource...
Background In 2012, the Company implemented SAP, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
program. The Global Company has five separate lines of business that were all running on
different accounting software solutions. The project included finance, sales and distribution, asset
management, purchasing, and master data. The 2012 project was intended to move the Company
onto the SAP platform, create efficiencies for the employees, and reduce costs for daily
operations. Due to the project timeline, there were many areas where scope was decreased in
order to meet the deadline. The decreased scope has left inefficiencies in vital operational areas
where the Company, its employees, and its systems are not operating or being used as... Show more

The systems updates would not be limited to SAP. The other systems involved are salesforce.com,
the legacy transaction billing system, the legacy customer statement portal, and a new add on
system. The primary areas of SAP impact are master data (customer, material, pricing), sales and
distribution (order and contract), and finance (revenue recognition). The impacted functional areas
in the Company are sales, accounting, customer care, system operations, and engineering.
Scope, Budget, Timeline and Resources The objective of the project is to deliver an improved
solution within the current environment. To include enhanced functionality for the business
including a robust revenue recognition module, enhanced contract features, and a well developed
interface process between Non SAP systems and SAP. Delivering an enhanced and integrated
process to improve accuracy and user experience between all systems. Allowing for the business
to expand its business within a controlled and accurate process (Datta, 2009). The project will kick
off with a discovery phase in which the scope, budget, timeline and resource needs will be outlined.
Scope is the blueprint of the implementation plan and in order to have a successful implementation,
the key is to know just how much to customize and just how much to keep within the workings of
the core SAP functionality (Gargeya Brady, 2005). The scope of

Intervention Essays
This intervention has to deal with trying to increase my total weight and number of repetitions
for weight lifting. The main problem I have been having, mostly with my bench press, has to do
with being stuck at one weight at times and not being able to increase the maximum lift or get
any more reps out of the workout. I have tried to quot;shock my system quot; by increasing the
weights to a weight that I could only do one or two times. I have also tried building up my
endurance through using less weight for more reps at times. No matter which I have tried, I always
seem to get stuck at one point or another.
The reason that I chose this form of intervention was because I have tried to talk to many people ...

Since then, I have lifted for more recreational purposes, but I still seem to find myself in the same
situations usually two or three times a year. It occurs in the area of bench pressing, but as I stated
earlier, it has happened with s a few shoulder workouts also, which is most likely due to an injury I
sustained a few years ago. Being able to eliminate these negative thoughts should positively affect
the final results.
Aspirations: Through doing this investigation, I wanted to test if one s psychological state of mind
had anything to do with the type of workout they have. By using positive imagery and setting short
term goals for every workout, I was curious to see if it would drive me to lift more weight or do
more repetitions. According to articles I have read, those steps will have an impact on my results.
Dr. Jonathan F. Katz of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center states, quot; There s more to lifting
weights than physically preparing your body, you have to gear yourself up emotionally and
psychologically. quot;
Mentally, the way I went about using imagery was by trying to picture myself doing each lift prior
to actually doing it. Sports Psychologist Michael Sachs says that he quot;encourages people to use
all five senses...see things, hear what s going on, smell, taste the sweat, feel the bar... quot; I would

Corporate Law And Shareholder Approval
Most equity carve outs do not require shareholder approval and require only approval by the
parent company s and subsidiary company s boards of directors. More complicated corporate law
considerations, particularly those related to fiduciary duties, typically arise following the closing of
an equity carve out, especially if the parent retains a significant equity interest in the subsidiary.
Shareholder Approval
The question of whether shareholder approval is required to implement an equity carve out is
determined by state law. While shareholder approval statutes vary by state, most are substantially
similar to Delaware s statute, which provides that shareholders must approve a transaction in which
a company will sell all or substantially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most equity carve outs are not large enough to require shareholder approval; if the parent sells
less than a majority stake and retains control over the subsidiary, there is a strong argument
against needing to obtain shareholder approval. If the parent sells between 50% and 100% of its
subsidiary shares, on the other hand, and the subsidiary s business is important to the parent, there
is a strong argument in support of needing shareholder approval. The requirement for shareholder
approval is significant because proxy materials must be mailed, a shareholder meeting must be
organized and approval must be obtained before the transaction can be completed. If the parent s
shares are registered under the Exchange Act, proxy materials must comply with Regulation 14A
and meet disclosure requirements. While proxy materials should disclose the material terms of the
offering, details such as final price and size of the offering are typically not determined until the
registration statement is effective, which creates a risk that the parent will not be able to meet its
disclosure obligations.
Board Approval
Approval is typically required by both the parent s and the subsidiary s boards of directors in order
to implement an equity carve out. While the specific

Is War Really Childish Research Paper
War, this is one of the most painful and hurtful subjects that we learn about in school. War is
really childish in my opinion. I don t understand why men have to hurt each other just to be
heard. Why do they teach us not to use violence but force some men to sacrifice they re life just
so one person can be heard? Now we are not forced to fight in war but back then it was but why
not just talk things out and come to an agreement? So many families wont get destroyed. Forcing
them to leave their families. Back then women weren t allowed to work so it was really hard for
them to bring money for their kids. Till this day we still have war not as much but in some
countries there is. In most states now they just create a protest when they want to

intrigued by its rough yet resilient history. Its cultural history consists of multiple heritages due to
its geographic location through time. Its important to remember that for centuries, despite being a

Blink Gladwell Analysis
In Blink by Malcolm Gladwell presents and creates very fascinating terminologies to describe
split Second processes that human mind undergoes to make important decisions. One of the term
that he uses in Blink is thin slicing . Malcolm Gladwell defines this term as the ability of our
conscious to find patterns in situations and behavior based on very narrow slice of experince
(23). What this means is your brain is able to subconsciously gathers the necessary information for
sophisticated Judgments (23) from previous experience. In Blink Gladwell presents a lot of

police officers had to make a decision if he was a rapist or if he was not. They had to make this

Breathe Right Strip Summary
Breath Right Strips
Introduction According to the text, Breathe Right Strips were invented by Bruce Johnson, a
chronic nasal congestion sufferer. Mr. Johnson Brought his creation to CNS Inc. CNS took the
product and primarily marketed it to sports teams, nasal sufferers and night time snorers. The
product really became prominent when Jerry Rice of the San Francisco 49ers wore the product in
the Super Bowl. According to cns.com, Breathe Right Strips is also available in vapor strips, clear
and tan strips, and nasal strips for kids. Some of the other products include nasal spray, throat
spray, fiberchoice and a portable vaporizer. Armed with these few, but strong products in 1995
CNS, decided to go global.
Summary of the Facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weaknesses are that the product is kept behind the counter of some international drug stores, thus
limiting the exposure. The Universal Product Codes on packaging aren t universal. The different
governments may have different ways of reviewing the product, and can take a few weeks to a
month to gain approval. The opportunity is that CNS has a product that may not withstand the test
of time. The CNS Company may need to look at extending their product line beyond the strips,
vaporizers and fiber tablets. They have such a limited product line. The biggest threat according to
breathe right strips is a company called gin miller. According to ginmiller.com, they have produced
nasal dilatators that are reusable. The other threat is the income of developing countries. They may
not have the disposable income to be able to buy the product.
Recommendations
The first recommendation is to implement at the end of stage one, an approval stage. Once the
product is tested and gains approval, they should make sure that they have approval from the
governments before the product launch. They should also take a look at expanding their product
line to something that people are willing to pay their money for. They could find different groups
to market the product to beyond athletes and snorers. There may be a market for the product to
people who have more of a need for the product, such as asthma,

In regard to the scenario given in the case study on increasing overweight and obesity cases in
Nueva Luna, I would propose a nutrition and healthy living promotion program which would be
implemented in the county. The main goal of this program is to reduce and prevent obesity and
overweight levels in the community of Nueva Luna. This goal would be achieved through
implementation of activities that promote improvements in nutrition, physical activities and support
a good environment. The model that would be used in ensuring that as many people as possible
benefit from this program will ensure that the focus is given to the individual, interpersonal,
organizational, community and policy formulation levels. This will give a comprehensive... Show

This means that they do not have enough facilities and most probably the quality of care is poor. I
will, therefore, ask for their views on this to know whether they would want the numbers of health
facilities added.
I will also assess whether they get quality medical services from the two facilities. Additionally, I
will find out if they had ever participated in health promotion and awareness programs organized
by the facilities. Assessing these issues will help me understand the issues that could have been
contributing to the increase in overweight and obesity levels. I plan to assess the above issues by
holding community forums, interviews, surveys and focus groups with the people of Nueva Luna
so that they can get a chance to express their concerns about the named issues. This will involve the
formulation of questions, which will be used as data collection tools.
2.Phase 2
In phase 2 I will assess the epidemiology of the problem. This means assessing the possible causes
of the increase in obesity and the related effects to the community and to individuals. This will be
done through research because this will help in understanding the attributing factors for each
individual. The information can be collected through focused discussions with the community
members. I will also conduct interviews in several parts of the county in

respectively, the report found. Property offenses dropped in each category: Burglary was down

The Great Depression Of 1929 Vs. The Great Recession Of 2008
The Great Depression of 1929 Vs. The Great Recession of 2008
In America there have been great economic struggles and triumphs. The many great leaders of
this country have foraged, failed, and overcome some very difficult times. Comparing the Great
Depression of 1929 and the Great Recession of 2008 has revealed similarities that by learning
from our mistakes in 1929 could have prevented the latest recession. I will discuss the causes of the
Great Depression and the Great Recession, and what policies were implemented to reverse the
economic downfalls. The Great Depression of 1929 is said to have many causes. In an article on
about.com Martin Kelly states there were five main causes of the Great Depression. First is the
stock market crash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Total unemployment rose from just over three percent in 1929 to just over twenty five percent
in 1933, and did not increase back up to just over seventeen percent in 1939. By 1933 wages had
fallen in every industry, with construction being affected the worst, where wages had dropped by
half. Wages in 1933 were twenty five percent lower than in 1929. These decreases in wages
caused decreases in purchasing across the board. Durable and nondurable sales alike decreased.
Nondurable goods fell by forty one percent, where durable goods suffered the most and declined
by sixty two percent. In the midst of the depression farmers also had a difficult time where
usually they would have been able to survive. Unfortunately, the Great Plains were hit hard with
both a drought and dust storms. The dust storms destroyed everything in their paths, leaving
farmers without their crops. Small farmers were hit the hardest. Even before the dust storms hit,
the invention of the tractor drastically cut the need for manpower on farms. The small farms
were usually already in debt, borrowing money for seed and paying it back when their crops
came in. When the dust storms damaged the crops, not only could the small farmer not feed
himself or his family, he could not pay back his debt. Banks would foreclose on the farms and the
farmer and his family would be both homeless and unemployed. Millions of people were out of
work across the United States. Many people hit the road

Bronze Bow Quotes
Matthew 1:44 says, But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
(Matthew 1:44). This verse means that God wants us to love and pray for our enemies, not to
hate them. This verse is also true in a lot of different books like The Bronze Bow. In the novel
The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Speare, the theme Love can overcome Hate is shown by
Samson, Jesus, and Simon to Daniel.
First, Samson displays love to Daniel in many distinctive ways. He works in Rosh s camp for
Daniel by carrying water to the camp, hunting for food, and keeping Daniel s kiln going (Pg. 29
31). Also, Samson cares for Daniel by sleeping by him and protecting him (Pg. 34 35). Most of
all, Samson surrenders his own life to save Daniel and his friends to rescue Joel instead of
staying safe and protecting himself (Pg. 207 210). Above all, Samson did all these things for
Daniel to recompense him for what Daniel did for him. Daniel freed Samson from his chains and
Samson saw that Daniel was the one who saved him, not Rosh (Pg. 14). Samson feels like he must

Simon shows love while caring for Daniel s family by alerting him that his grandmother is
dying and by giving his house up for Leah, Daniel s sister (Pg. 113, 121). He also cares for

Simon explains certain parts of Jesus teaching that can relate to his life to Daniel like, He says
that the only chains that matter are fear and hate because they chain our souls. (Pg. 244). And,
Simon informs and shows Daniel that he needs to put his faith and hope in Jesus so that he can
have eternal life forever by how it affects his own life (Pg. 242 244). Simon s faith in Jesus made
an effect on Daniel in the way he acted towards Daniel s vow of hate against the Romans for his

How Did Eli Whitney Impact The Invention Of The Cotton Gin
American society was hugely impacted by Eli Whitney s invention of the cotton gin because it
changed the way cotton was separated, in turned made cotton production easier and made cotton
plantations spread across the South. This increased the need for slavery and caused a bigger wedge
between the North and the South.
In the South, during the late 1700 s, tobacco became a less lucrative crop, and it also laid waste to
the land robbing it of nutrients. Other crops of the period, hardly made any profit for the southern
plantation owners. It was then believed that the slave was no longer earning enough for the
landowner to pay for the upkeep and the end to slavery may have been near until a little invention
changed all that. The cotton gin was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A direct effect of the cotton gin was the need for more slaves to pick cotton since it was so easy
to separate, they now could work in volume. Consequently, more cotton crops caused more
demand for cheap labor and the role of slaves. Even though, the invention of the cotton gin
decreased the amount of labor, that was needed to separate the cotton from the seed, the caused
an increase in the cotton crops across the South. This provided a need for more slaves to pick
those crops. After the Proclamation of 1763 had been nullified, the land west of the
Appalachians began to be settled as well as the land from the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The
new, rich land began to be worked for the new cash crop of cotton as well as the increased
demand for slaves to cultivate the soil and pick the cotton. From 1790 to 1808 the South brought in
80,000 more slaves before the Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves outlined in the Constitution
came into effect January 1, 1808. One third of the southern population, after the cotton boom, were
slaves.Thomas Jefferson, then Secretary of State at that time, wrote in a letter to Eli Whitney, As
to the State of Virginia, of which I am, carries on household manufactures of cotton to a great
extent, as I also do myself, and one of our great embarrassment is the cleaning the cotton of the
seeds, I feel a considerable interest in the success of your invention

indicate that many customers still prefer to use physical stores. Higher end customers that shop at
Futreshop.com still do majority of their shopping at the physical stores. Regarding the target
segment Walmart.com is trying to reach; recent research indicates that profitability is closely
related to local strategy. (Harvard Business Review, September 2005) Local environments still have
different tastes, business practices, cultural norms and other characteristics. Simply offering
internet connection to those customers may not be enough to create consistent online sales form
them. Local retailers may server these segments better and offer customized services due to their
small customer base. Therefore, Walmart.com is facing two obstacles: local retailers and customer
buying habits. Changing them may prove to be a difficult undertaking. SWOT analysis approach
Strengths: 1.Walmart.com has an alliance with the master of retail process: Wal Mart. Having the
best process and infrastructure when it applies to supply chain is definitely a competitive
advantage. Walmart.com can take advantage of back end operations and inventory management
processes through its alliance with Wal Mart. 2.Established knowledge about its customers their

Social Media Good Or Bad Essay
Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been a part of a
protest that was started on social media? I think that social media is a good thing because you
can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in. Without that you would be limited to
the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make
friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social
media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are
super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to
play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the chance to make friends
and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also colleges and most jobs look at your
social media account to see what kind of person you are and if you are able to work so not only
can you have fun but you can also potentially make money from it and you can make friends.
Things like Facebook are so convenient to talk with friends or family without that we would need
to call them and that is just so much harder to do then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But you can aways friend you child on Facebook to protect them. Even tho they know what to do
to be safe online and what to do if something bad hapens but the odds of that happening is very
small. Also people think that social media is a waste of time but that is not true becuse you can
learn so much online and find so many cool and interesting things about things you did not even
know existed. Also you can buy things online so you do not have to go look for it in a store and
have it not be there which is a big waste of time. With the web you can buy things that you know
they have and it comes right to you. Al you have to do is wait for it to come to your house and that is

1970 s Feminist Art Movement
The feminist art movement in the 1970 s culminated as a result of numerous factors. Females
rebelled against traditional art which sexualized objects of desire and was masculine in nature.
Female artists voiced their opinions of the stereotypes of gender, female body, and beauty ideals in
their work. Hannah Wilke, Ana Mendieta, and Carolee Schneemann are artists that helped pave the
way for feminist art and expression. A contemporary artist that reflects the 1970 s movement is
Janine Antoni. Her work, Loving Care and Gnaw, shows her portrayal of the female body and
desire which reflects feminist ideas. To begin it is important to understand the emerging feminist art

Abstract
On September 11, 2001 Al Qaeda operatives executed a violent and lethal terrorist attack against the
United States. The attacks against the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, United
Airlines flight 93, and the Pentagon, have collectively been deemed the deadliest terrorist attack to
take place on American soil in the history of the United States. The appalling attacks against New
York City and the nation s capital triggered an immediate assessment of the intelligence community,
existing anti terrorism policies and methodologies, and the overall structure of the United States
intelligence community. More specifically, the federal government began to assess its existing
capabilities to ensure domestic homeland security and enhance the security posture of the United
States. An array of after action reports indicated that communication and collaboration between
varying government agencies was limited and very difficult to navigate. More specifically,
intelligence agencies were extremely restricted and compartmentalized and as a result of such
lapses, Al Qaeda was successful in their attack planning and execution. Although there has been a
recognizable improvement in communication throughout the intelligence community, the United
States must evolve and

Tension between Britain and Colonial America escalated when Britain, whose debt has doubled to
32 million euros, refused to compensate the Americans for the 2 million euros that they
accumulated in debt. Britain went as far as implementing various revenue measures in the colonies
in an attempt to stabilize their own government. Among these various revenue measures were the
writ of assistance, the Sugar Act of 1764, and the Stamp Act of 1765. Through the use of the writ of
assistance, which was a general search warrant that permitted officials to search and enter any ship
or building with no evidence for suspicion required, the British government aimed to cease colonial
trade/ smuggling with the enemy. The use of the writ, which was seen as unconstitutional in the
British Parliament, demonstrated the belief that Parliament could alter the constitution at will. This
created tension because many colonist believed that Parliament did not have the right to authorize
illegal investigations and seizures in private houses. Another revenue measure that sent negative
cogitations to the colonists was the Sugar Act of 1764. The Sugar Act placed new tariffs and
restrictions on colonial trade. One such restriction was that colonists had to export certain materials
through Great Britain and not directly with foreign countries. The Sugar Act discarded the right to

Constantine s Declaration Of The Edict Of Milan
Constantine s declaration of the Edict of Milan left a lasting impact on Roman society. The Edict
of Milan allowed the tolerance of all religions, which influenced laws surrounding religion. This
investigation will evaluate the following research question: To what extent did Constantine s Edict
of Milan, issued in 313 C.E., affect the spread of Christianity in Rome until its collapse? The
investigation will address if the Edict of Milan was a turning point for Christianity in Rome, and if
it had greater impact on the Eastern or Western Roman Empire. To gather knowledge on the matter,
the investigation will be relying heavily on books presenting the history of Christianity, Emperor
Constantine, and The Edict of Milan itself. By examining The Edict of Milan and the religions of
settlements surrounding the Roman Empire, this investigation will measure the impact
Constantine s Edict of Milan in Rome from 313 C.E. until its fall. The origin of my first source,
Christianity: A Global History, was a book written by David Chidester as a secondary source in

Symbolism in The Hunger Games
When reading The Hunger Games, one might not read and think deeply enough about something
like symbolism. Looking into it, however, the characters in this novel by Suzanne Collins seem
to be named after historical figures, words that are descriptive of their characters, and even
plants. Realizing this really makes reading the novel much more interesting, because now the
reader has something or someone to compare each of the main or supporting characters to. The
Hunger Games makes relates many of the characters to historical figures. Many of the male
figures seem to be named after Roman politicians, philosophers, and poets. Take Cinna, for
instance. Cinna, in the novel, is Katniss and Peeta s stylists for the Games. He does their makeup
and creates their outfits to wear for the opening ceremony, for the interview with Caesar
Flickerman, and for in the arena. His artistic skills relate to that of Gaius Helvius Cinna, a Roman
poet. He also resembles to Lucius Cornelius Cinna, although more so later in the sequel, Catching
Fire, because they are both defiant. Cinna, for turning the wedding dress President Snow wanted
Katniss to dress in for her interview with Caesar Flickerman into a mockingjay, which turned into
a symbol of rebellion, and Lucius Cornelius Cinna for staging a rebellion. What really ties it all
together is that Cinna, Lucius Cornelius Cinna, and Gaius Helvius Cinna all met their demise by
murder. Caesar Flickerman is also a prime example of relating to a

The 19th Centuary Essay
In the first half of the 19th century the processes known as Industrialization and Urbanization
started to transform Europe. It affected and changed every aspect of life of every citizen of every
European nation. The notorious results of these changes were the horrible living and working
conditions of the working class, who made up the majority of the society. Great Britain was
involved most profoundly in this Industrial Revolution as it led the way in the development of
railroads and factories. We find a lot of documents from that time period describing working
conditions in Britain during that era. As a response to those changes created by Industrial
Revolution many sought reforms to confront those social problems. Karl Marxwas... Show more

They complain how this new instruments of production will replace workers and leave eight
thousand hands deprived of the opportunity of getting a livelihood . According to Marx: The
bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionizing the instruments of production, and
thereby the relations of production, and with them the whole relations of society. As we can see
revolutionazing the production was distinguishing trait of the bourgeois and of the Industrial
Revolution, that had a devastating effect on the working class as they were replaced and pushed
into powerty by the machines and new methods of production. The workers are asking for the self
interest to be laid aside and appealing to the sensible part of mankind, who are not biased by interest
to pay attention to their petition. But as we read in Communist Manifesto: The bourgeoisie left no
other nexus between man and man than naked self interest, than callous cash payment. It has

philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation. In one word, for exploitation,

A People s History Versus A Patriot s History
Public consensus, similar to politics, varies greatly when it comes to American history, especially
as it pertains to the classroom. Views about the content and historical interpretation included in
history texts have reached a heightened polarization in recent years. This can be seen in the vast
differences between the diatribes of Howard Zinn s, A People s Historyof the United States, and
Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen s, A Patriot s History of the United States. While both books,
prescribed by this introductory course into American History, cover many of the same topics, they
clearly paint different pictures. I feel that any text seeking to represent a responsible survey of a ...

The current economic struggles affecting our nation as well as the controversial conflicts abroad
have arguably caused a shift in the nation s politics. Whereby, the Right has become more
conservative and the Left, more liberal. Farhad Manjoo discusses this in his book, True Enough:
Learning to Live in a Post Fact Society. Manjoo purports that, No longer are we merely holding
opinions different from one another; we re also holding different facts. Indeed, you can go so far
as to say we re now fighting over competing versions of reality. If the news of today is being
interpreted in such different ways, I believe that it speaks in magnitude to the way we must be
viewing the news of yesterday.
Howard Zinn speaks to this in his Afterword, referring to common omissions in orthodox history.
He retorts, The consequence of those omissions has been not simply to give a distorted view of the
past but, more important, to mislead us all about the present. (Zinn, 684) However, in reference to a
common insistence on strictly teaching the facts in the classroom, Zinn also claims that there is no
pure fact which does not preclude a judgment. True to his claims in his Afterward, Zinn lays out an
argument and maintains his position throughout his book in addition to the facts he presents. He
has been revered for the serious manner in which he treats his cited works, and for offering

Efficacy Of Antidepressant Medication Therapy

randomized trials looking at the efficacy of treating depression with psychological methods. The
studies chosen provide insight into the lack of efficacy of antidepressant medication therapy, as
well as the effectiveness of psychological therapies. The evidence provided in the studies appears
to support one another. Compare and Contrast Fournier et al. (2010) and Barbui et al. (2011) both

Collective Wisdom The collective wisdom across studies supports the use of cognitive behavioral
therapy for minor depression. However, there are limitations to prescribing cognitive behavioral
therapy frequently for the first line treatment of depression. The primary limitation identified is the
inadequate number of therapists to administer cognitive behavioral therapy (Linde et al., 2015).
Additional research is attempting to identify successful methods of administering cognitive
behavioral therapy in a remote fashion (Linde et al., 2015). Overall, there is an agreement that
patients with minor depressive symptoms should be prescribed a form of psychotherapy. Cognitive
behavioral therapy is shown to be favorable over the other types of psychotherapies for depression
treatment. However, some bias may exist due to cognitive behavioral therapy being the most
studied form of psychotherapy. The evidence shows that cognitive behavioral therapy should be
prescribed as a first line treatment. However, the large number of antidepressants prescribed by
primary providers demonstrates a disconnect between evidence and practice. After reviewing the
most up to date literature and APA guidelines (2013) the consensus is that psychotherapy should be
prescribed for outpatients with minor depressive symptoms. Sufficient evidence suggests that
cognitive behavioral therapy should be prescribed for all patients with minor depressive symptoms.

American Identity In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel...
The quintessential struggle for identity inundated the American people after the Revolutionary War;
the country was faced with the struggle of not only establishing a new government but also with the
feat of defining America as a new country. Many literary works and writings were crucial in
facilitating the infant nation s journey in separating from the English culture in order to create this
unique American identity. This process of creating an American identity was not realized with
either ease or haste, and the concept of American identity altered and grew concurrently with the
nation. Literary figures portray different understandings of American identity, each perspective
echoing the national reality at of the epoch or expressing a visionary idea of American identity.
Nathaniel Hawthorneand Washington Irving, both from around the early nineteenth century,
demonstrate the diversity that exists in the concept of the American identity, though this identity is
based in a similar truth. Neither Hawthorne nor Irving are wholly able to separate the concept of
American identity from the country s history and past, as although America is a new county, its
origin lies in its Puritan and English heritage; however, in his story Rip Van Winkle
Irving only
focuses on the muddled reality of a shaky and underdeveloped American identity whereas in The
Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne portrays an unique American identity that has begun to grow from the
past while still being inseparable from

This is the part of the process where creatine makes itself known. Current studies show that
creatine supplementation can increase the amount of creatine in muscles, which in turn, speeds
up the ATP refueling process (Murphy, 2000). This enhances performance by producing more
energy for brief, high intensity exercise such as sprinting, and allowing for more strenuous
workouts (Gutfeld, 1997). All of these factors are crucial to athletes who are searching for their
legal magic bullet . Creatine was first discovered by a French scientist in 1832 (Bamberger,
1998). This scientist discovered a naturally occurring organic compound that could be produced
by the kidneys, liver, and pancreas. The compound was named creatine , the Greek word for flesh
(Bamberger, 1998). It has been found that most people consume 1 gram per day, along with
naturally producing 1 gram (Bamberger, 1998). In 1981, the potential medical benefits of creatine

Modernization In Brave New World
Modernization and Brave New World Brave New World is a book written in 1932 by Aldous
Huxley. One of the more memorable aspects of Brave New World is its setting: a dystopian future
where the government regulates everything in society and all high art is banned. At the time the
book was written technology was rapidly advancing, so Huxley decided to let the quickly
advancing world shape the setting of Brave New World. Modernization heavily shapes Brave New
World s setting. A major comparison that can be made between Brave New World and the
modern world is the similarity between how babies are born in the book and the assembly line.

When Brave New World was written, mass production, popularized by Henry Ford, had begun
to gain steam in the industrial world. Factories were now more efficient than ever, at the cost of
any uniqueness with the item being produced when compared to someone making items by
hand. The world of Brave New World runs a lot like that. Individuality is viewed as heavily
shameful, and Bernard Marx is repeatedly reprimanded over the course of the book for trying to
be an individual instead of part of society. For instance, he is described as Pretty harmless,
perhaps; but also pretty disquieting (Huxley 76) for having a fascination with doing things
alone on his own time, which is heavily discouraged. Instead, people are encouraged to spend as
much time in public as possible, and find comfort and solace in being part of a group rather than
being their own person. This message is seen in the motto of the World State, Community.
Identity. Stability (Huxley 1). With the lack of individualism in Brave New World, there comes
a large amount of efficiency. From the moment they are decanted, society in Brave New World
tries to shape babies to what is needed. They are separated into castes so that everyone is happy
and productive in their job. Henry Foster mentions that We decant our babies as socialized

about their lives in the future, from their likes and interests, to what friends they will have, and to
what values and morals they believe in. They are conditioned to consume and purchase as much as
possible to feed the economy and satisfy their own wants. Everything in the World State is

There are many pros and cons to summative assessment, however, it can create unnecessary pressure
and stress on students. Conversely, formative assessment is a method used to monitor student s
progress to provide ongoing feedback so that instructors or teachers can improve their teaching
strategies to meet the learners needs (Lucie Renard 2017, para. 2). Formative assessment can take
many forms such as formal quizzes, course and written assignments, questioning techniques, case
study reports, peer examinations, surveys, group and class presentations and discussions with
students.
Research suggests that formative assessment will allow every student to be entitled to a fair and
equal chance (Doherty 2011). Furthermore, assessment initiates student s learning.
Assessments of and for learning are both important. If assessments of learning provide evidence of
achievement for public reporting, then assessments for learning serve to help students learn more.
The crucial distinction is between assessment to determine the status of learning and assessment to
promote greater learning (Stiggins,

How Does Iago Present Evil In Othello
Evil is appears throughout the story through the menacing Iago and his devilish undertakings in
Shakespeare s Othello. Perceived as a sociopath, Iago antagonizes and fuels conflict. Firstly, evil
shows its presence when Iago manipulates Othello into thinking his love, Desdemona, cheated on
him. In response to Iagos insinuation Othellospeaks, Nor from mine own weak merits will I draw
/the smallest fear or doubt of her revolt (III.III.218 219). Evil indicates its presence due to the
creation of doubt in Othello s conscious. Othello rejects his feelings saying, I ll see before I doubt;
when I doubt, prove (III.III. 220). However, the seed of doubt is already planted in Othello s head.
This is relatable to a later work by Milton, Paradise... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In deep thought, Iago reveals one of his goals while speaking to the audience saying, Till I am
evened with him, wife for wife (II.I.321). This reveals that Othello might have slept with Iago s
wife; however, due to Iago s deceitful nature the reader is not sure. The phrase a wife for wife
alludes to the saying an eye for an eye, which indicates one of Iago s goals is to seek vengeance
for a perceived wrong (II.I.321). Iago hopes to put the Moor/At least into a jealousy so strong/That
judgment cannot cure (11.1.322 324). As Iago has fallen into a vengeful stupor, he hopes to torture
Othello through the same jealously in, which he was afflicted. Through emotional moments, evil
reveals its true ambitions like Iago with his vengeful thoughts or Othello when his suspicions of
Desdemona s infidelity were confirmed. An enraged Othello shouts, Hang her, I do but say what
she is! (4.1.208 211). Emotional instances, like this one, expose the character s true feelings and
inner thoughts. The highly climatic scene between Iago and Othello that left the latter nearly
incapacitated, allowed for the Moor s inner evil to reveal itself. Othello s evil thought, in
accordance with Iago s, seeks revenge for a perceived wrong, Desdemona s

Bill 60, a.k.a. The Quebec Charter of Values
Pauline Marois graduated with a bachelor s degree in social services from the University of
Laval in 1971 (Parti QuГ©bГ©cois, n.d.). She then went on to proceeded, in 1976, to obtain a
master s degree in business administration from the University of Montreal (Parti QuГ©bГ©cois,
n.d.). She is the leader of the Parti Quebecois since 2007, and is also the Prime minister of
QuГ©bec since 2012 (Parti QuГ©bГ©cois, n.d.). Pauline Marois and the Parti QuГ©bГ©cois
proposed Bill 60, also known as the Charter of Values, in fall of 2013 (Riga, 2014, para. 7).
Therefore the purpose of this paper will be to analyse the goal of this bill, the ways it may be
achieved, and the central criticisms of it.
First of all, Bill 60 is officially defined as being a charter affirming the values of State secularism
and religious neutrality and equality between women and men, and providing a framework for
accommodation requests (National Assembly, Bill 60, 2014). This definition can be interpreted in
simpler terms. To begin, people who work in governmental positions, for example, must be
impartial when it comes to religious elements and show how non religious or spiritual the State is
(National Assembly, Bill 60, 2014). Furthermore, when it comes to accommodation requests made
on religious grounds, some elements have to be respected. There are many examples when it comes
to having a scheme for these accommodations such as: both men and women must be treated
equally, and also the accommodation should be

Woody Allen s Film Debut With The Quirky, What s Up, Tiger...
In 1966, Woody Allen made his theatrical film debut with the quirky, What s Up, Tiger Lily?.
Woody Allen was the head writer as well as one of the directors; Senkichi Taniguchi being his
partner. The two directors took the Japanese action film International Secret Police: Key of Keys
and changed the plot to focus on a secret egg salad recipe instead ( What s Up, Tiger Lily? ).
They did this by re dubbing the dialogue as well as rearranging some of the scenes. Experimental
concept of the film alone, Woody Allenmanaged to already set himself apart from other
filmmakers. However, it is in the execution of the concept that Woody Allen was able to
establish his unique presence in the world of popular culture. In addition to its humorous and
unique concept, the film does not unfold in a logical manner, keeping the viewer on their toes.
More or less, the film s plot is designed as an opportunity for a string of puns, playfully racist
jokes, farcical situations and sight gags. Centrally, it follows Phil Moskowitz, who was hired to
recover the stolen egg salad recipe (What s Up, Tiger Lily?). He is a secret agent, working for
the Grand Exalted High Majah of Raspur ( a nonexistent but real sounding country , according to
the movie). The film makes several hard left turns, leaving viewers pleasantly confused. However,
it is clear that Woody Allen has done this on purpose. At one point in the film, the action ceases
entirely and cuts to a shot of Woody Allen and an interviewer

Diction In The Raven
In the classic poem, The Raven , Edgar Allan Poe explores the effects of isolation and grief. The
Raven follows a man who laments his lost love, Lenore. When a raven enters his chamber, and
repeatedly says nevermore, the narrator s inner struggle with his state of mind is revealed.
Through the use of imagery and diction in stanza five, Poe expresses the narrator s fear and
sorrow after losing his loved one. Poe s utilizes imagery to portray the narrator s struggle to cope
with the loss of Lenore. For instance, when the narrator opens the door to see who is knocking,
he recounts, Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing (Poe 25). Poe
s use of imagery reveals the speaker s trepidation as fear is instilled... Show more content on

was the whispered word, Lenore? /This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word,
Lenore! (Poe 28 29). Lenore is repeated two times to emphasize her importance to the narrator.
The narrator thinks about the supernatural influence, however, all he hears is an echo. Although
he sees no one at his door, he calls out for Lenore, in hopes she will respond to him. After his call
for Lenore, nothing more is said by either him or the mysterious echo. RELATE TO THESIS Poe
uses imagery and diction to portray the narrator s state of mind. Poe s descriptive language
demonstrates the narrator s sorrowful life without Lenore, and Poe s choice of words reveal his
fear towards the sinister raven. For the sorrowful and fearful narrator, the whole world seems to be
bleak and terrifying. Everything, even darkness, reminds him of his lost love,

A Comparison Of Shrek And Siddhartha
Siddhartha and Shrek contain similarities as mono myths; however the story of Shrek is the more
creative work of the two. Both stories are good examples of mono myths, but the appeal of each
story is very different. The audience reading Siddhartha and the audience watching Shrek are most
likely polar opposites. Siddharthas audience is probably more adults and religiously based. Shrek s
audience is probably more children and family friendly.
Siddhartha is a spiritual and religious novel that is intended to teach the reader about how

The Argument Against Drilling In Alaska’s Arctic National...
Alaska s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), the crowned jewel of the nation s 544
refuges is in danger of destruction (Lamar and Markey 12). ANWR has been in existence since
1960 and has slowly become one of the most controversial topics to hit Congress. ANWR is
composed of 19 million acres on the northeast coast of Alaska. Although the government has been
provided with this immense land they are fighting to gain more land. Why? ANWR is the second
biggest oil fieldthat is owned by the U.S. Now the government wants more land to construct oil
reserves. The refuge is home to many endangered species such as migratory birds, polar bears, and
wolves (Lynne and Roberts 1). Most of ANWR s designated oil area is owned by indigenous

Calf survival rates have been extremely low in areas or mountain range and without their discrete
areas caribous are threaten more by predators (Whitten 2004). The reserves will also constrain
caribou from moving about because of all the traffic that would be created and the pipe crossings.
That s no way a precious creature should live. That s why Alaskan natives oppose drilling.
Another reason against drilling much research has shown that all the oil that will be produced will
only last for about six months. The fact that the British Petroleum has greater potential to produce
more oil and natural gasses (Markey 2004) than ANWR so why bother with it , supporting the
case that drilling is pointless. Then there is the percentage that after oil production of ANWR,
the foreign oil dependency will only drop from 56% to 50% (Markey 2004).Then the oil
produced would reach the market ten years later after it was produced, leaving the gas price
decrease to one percent(Lamar and Markey 12). There was also the reality of natural gases.
ANWR does not confirm any sign of them, when President Bush ordered exploration for natural
gasses (Klyza and Ford Martin 1).Again proving drilling pointless.
In addition to concern about changes, was if drilling were to happen the negatives it would create
to the tundra. Drilling on any form of earth is harmful in general. But because of how beloved the
terrain is to the native, it only creates more conflicts.

Changes in Consumer Behaviour Essays
Executive Summary
Consumer behaviours have changed over the years; this is shown by consumers today purchasing
a more healthy variety of products, as information today is known about products that was not
known many years ago. Factors such as these, change the way we perceive and value products, as
we now are more knowledgeable as well as manufacturers having by law to print the ingredients and
content of the products ingredients on the back of most food products, allowing consumers to
become more educated. The typical consumer today watches what they eat; they are more aware
and exposed to factors that have brought about change in consumer behaviours.

And also in some cases going to the extreme in stating that parents are slowly killing their children
with feeding them specific foods. This is a huge factor that has brought about changes in the way
consumers purchase and behaviour. Other factors are current events, such as when the 9/11 incident
occurred; a lot of patriotic Americans bought and consumed American made products to help the
American economy grow. The American government also put out campaigns to promote American
produced and made products to the public to change the views of consumer purchases. Just another
example of factors that support change in consumer behaviours.
Governments and consumer groups control or filter what information is known about certain
products. The Australian consumers association or ACA produces a magazine that informs
consumers about their rights and about the value and safety of products. The government on the
other hand works in conjunction with the health department to reveal the real truths about products,
such as the smoking campaign, that informs us of what really is in a cigarette and how much
damage it is doing to your body. These groups play a vital role in educating the consumers about
certain truths that need to be made aware to the consumers of today s health concise age.

Red Imagery In Macbeth
Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work.
William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in
readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story
and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through
references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes
are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and
plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and
most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for
harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for
readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs
in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also
admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is
revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly
portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin.
The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to
crumble. Although their hands are not

  • 3. Essay On Three Phase Inverter Project objectives This project is aim to study the principle of pwm, single phase inverter, three phase inverter which leading to design a three phase inverter(DC AC) by using the mbed to control switch. This inverter will be intended to drive an induction motor which may need to drive. The work will involve simulation study of PWM generators, induction motors and device selected from. Introduction, motivation and problem statement. Introduction Nowadays, some electric cars which use induction motor with inverters instead of use DC motor that can be powered directly from their DC batteries. For example, tesla cars use ac motor instead of dc motor. In the world, there are three main types of motors which be used in electric cars, Brush DC motor, Brushless DC motor and induction motor. However, when companies design all the electric vehicles, they will think about some parameters and these can be divided into 6 parts. Firstly, in the efficiency part, when use dc controller with Brush DC motor, the efficiency of it is 94%. However, when Brushless DC motor and induction motor use inverters, the efficiency of them are about 97%. Secondly, in the wear/service part, Brushes are subject to wear and require periodic replacement and Brushless DC motor and induction motor are lifetime. Thirdly, in the specific cost which includes cost of inverter part, the Brush DC motor is very low, because motor and controller are generally inexpensive. The cost of Brushless DC motor is very ... The Evolution Of Women s Surfing PSY 190Safeassign Score = ##% Paper # 2Word count = #### The Evolution of Women s Surfing Madison Ronnow Since the beginning of time, women have felt as if they are inadequate to hold positions of power in competition with men. As a entity women have joined together in an effort to push through barriers put up by society. Motivated by their aspirations to be of equal status as men, women have accomplished many great things. In the book Mavericks by Matt Warshaw, there is a section where he talks about how women were not prevalent in surfing and were told that they shouldn t be allowed to be big wave surfers. The following information will shed some light on the most pivotable movements accomplished by women, and events in surfing that changed the sport for women across the globe. Mavericks is a surfing location in Northern California known for its record breaking waves caused by an unusually shaped rock formation. Very few big wave surfers chose to ride these waves because of the hazardous, sometimes deadly, conditions. Jeff Clark, otherwise known as the Mavericks Man, was the first man to ever surf Mavericks and continued to be the only man to ride the waves for several years. Clark was 17 the first time he went out and surfed Mavericks; the first day he surfed at Mavericks the waves topped out at 25 feet. In 1999 the first Titans of Mavericks was held, a surfing contest at Mavericks, 24 big wave surfers were asked to compete. The contest is held every year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nurses Are A Service For Quality Care And Promote... Nurses are at the forefront of healthcare acting as the liaison between the doctors, patients, families, social work, etc. Their goal is patient centered care that includes alleviating vulnerabilities, both physiologic and interpersonal; it also includes therapeutic engagement and developing a relationship in a manner that is reinforced by the information practices of a particular setting (Hobbs, 2009). In order to provide quality care and promote successful consumer relationships, each nursemust take on the responsibility of service, advocacy, teaching, and leadership. Service orientation refers to patient focused care. Yoder Wise states that a service orientation means delivering services in a manner that is least disruptive. When possible, services should be as easy, comfortable, pleasant, and effective as possible (p. 416). In order for quality service to be provided, nursing care must be clinically correct (product aspect) and satisfying to the consumer (service orientation) (Yoder Wise, 2015). For instance, in the intensive care unit (ICU) we have varying care bundles such as a foley bundle and PM care bundle. The product aspect of the PM care bundle is to provide oral care, document intake and output, perform foley care, and reposition the patient. The service orientation portion of the PM care bundle is to disrupt the patient as little as possible. Sleep is important for overcoming illnesses and the ICU environment makes that difficult for patients. By bundling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Intervention Essays This intervention has to deal with trying to increase my total weight and number of repetitions for weight lifting. The main problem I have been having, mostly with my bench press, has to do with being stuck at one weight at times and not being able to increase the maximum lift or get any more reps out of the workout. I have tried to quot;shock my system quot; by increasing the weights to a weight that I could only do one or two times. I have also tried building up my endurance through using less weight for more reps at times. No matter which I have tried, I always seem to get stuck at one point or another. The reason that I chose this form of intervention was because I have tried to talk to many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since then, I have lifted for more recreational purposes, but I still seem to find myself in the same situations usually two or three times a year. It occurs in the area of bench pressing, but as I stated earlier, it has happened with s a few shoulder workouts also, which is most likely due to an injury I sustained a few years ago. Being able to eliminate these negative thoughts should positively affect the final results. Aspirations: Through doing this investigation, I wanted to test if one s psychological state of mind had anything to do with the type of workout they have. By using positive imagery and setting short term goals for every workout, I was curious to see if it would drive me to lift more weight or do more repetitions. According to articles I have read, those steps will have an impact on my results. Dr. Jonathan F. Katz of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center states, quot; There s more to lifting weights than physically preparing your body, you have to gear yourself up emotionally and psychologically. quot; Mentally, the way I went about using imagery was by trying to picture myself doing each lift prior to actually doing it. Sports Psychologist Michael Sachs says that he quot;encourages people to use all five senses...see things, hear what s going on, smell, taste the sweat, feel the bar... quot; I would sit on the bench for ... • 8. Corporate Law And Shareholder Approval Most equity carve outs do not require shareholder approval and require only approval by the parent company s and subsidiary company s boards of directors. More complicated corporate law considerations, particularly those related to fiduciary duties, typically arise following the closing of an equity carve out, especially if the parent retains a significant equity interest in the subsidiary. Shareholder Approval The question of whether shareholder approval is required to implement an equity carve out is determined by state law. While shareholder approval statutes vary by state, most are substantially similar to Delaware s statute, which provides that shareholders must approve a transaction in which a company will sell all or substantially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most equity carve outs are not large enough to require shareholder approval; if the parent sells less than a majority stake and retains control over the subsidiary, there is a strong argument against needing to obtain shareholder approval. If the parent sells between 50% and 100% of its subsidiary shares, on the other hand, and the subsidiary s business is important to the parent, there is a strong argument in support of needing shareholder approval. The requirement for shareholder approval is significant because proxy materials must be mailed, a shareholder meeting must be organized and approval must be obtained before the transaction can be completed. If the parent s shares are registered under the Exchange Act, proxy materials must comply with Regulation 14A and meet disclosure requirements. While proxy materials should disclose the material terms of the offering, details such as final price and size of the offering are typically not determined until the registration statement is effective, which creates a risk that the parent will not be able to meet its disclosure obligations. Board Approval Approval is typically required by both the parent s and the subsidiary s boards of directors in order to implement an equity carve out. While the specific ... Besides for my grandparents being born in Transylvania, I have always been intrigued by its rough yet resilient history. Assessing these issues will help me understand the issues that could have been contributing to the increase in overweight and obesity levels. I plan to assess the above issues by holding community forums, interviews, surveys and focus groups with the people of Nueva Luna so that they can get a chance to express their concerns about the named issues. This will involve the formulation of questions, which will be used as data collection tools. 2.Phase 2 In phase 2 I will assess the epidemiology of the problem. This verse means that God wants us to love and pray for our enemies, not to hate them. This verse is also true in a lot of different books like The Bronze Bow. In the novel The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Speare, the theme Love can overcome Hate is shown by Samson, Jesus, and Simon to Daniel. First, Samson displays love to Daniel in many distinctive ways. He works in Rosh s camp for Daniel by carrying water to the camp, hunting for food, and keeping Daniel s kiln going (Pg. 29 31). Also, Samson cares for Daniel by sleeping by him and protecting him (Pg. 34 35). Most of all, Samson surrenders his own life to save Daniel and his friends to rescue Joel instead of staying safe and protecting himself (Pg. 207 210). How Did Eli Whitney Impact The Invention Of The Cotton Gin American society was hugely impacted by Eli Whitney s invention of the cotton gin because it changed the way cotton was separated, in turned made cotton production easier and made cotton plantations spread across the South. This increased the need for slavery and caused a bigger wedge between the North and the South. In the South, during the late 1700 s, tobacco became a less lucrative crop, and it also laid waste to the land robbing it of nutrients. A direct effect of the cotton gin was the need for more slaves to pick cotton since it was so easy to separate, they now could work in volume. This provided a need for more slaves to pick those crops. After the Proclamation of 1763 had been nullified, the land west of the Appalachians began to be settled as well as the land from the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The new, rich land began to be worked for the new cash crop of cotton as well as the increased demand for slaves to cultivate the soil and pick the cotton. The attacks against the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, United Airlines flight 93, and the Pentagon, have collectively been deemed the deadliest terrorist attack to take place on American soil in the history of the United States. (Zinn, 684) However, in reference to a common insistence on strictly teaching the facts in the classroom, Zinn also claims that there is no pure fact which does not preclude a judgment. True to his claims in his Afterward, Zinn lays out an argument and maintains his position throughout his book in addition to the facts he presents. Efficacy Of Antidepressant Medication Therapy Cuijpers (2017) identifies that over the last 40 years there have been approximately 500 randomized trials looking at the efficacy of treating depression with psychological methods. The studies chosen provide insight into the lack of efficacy of antidepressant medication therapy, as well as the effectiveness of psychological therapies. The evidence provided in the studies appears to support one another. Compare and Contrast Fournier et al. (2010) and Barbui et al. Collective Wisdom The collective wisdom across studies supports the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for minor depression. However, there are limitations to prescribing cognitive behavioral therapy frequently for the first line treatment of depression. The primary limitation identified is the inadequate number of therapists to administer cognitive behavioral therapy (Linde et al., 2015). Additional research is attempting to identify successful methods of administering cognitive behavioral therapy in a remote fashion (Linde et al., 2015). Overall, there is an agreement that patients with minor depressive symptoms should be prescribed a form of psychotherapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is shown to be favorable over the other types of psychotherapies for depression treatment. However, some bias may exist due to cognitive behavioral therapy being the most studied form of psychotherapy. The evidence shows that cognitive behavioral therapy should be prescribed as a first line treatment. However, the large number of antidepressants prescribed by primary providers demonstrates a disconnect between evidence and practice. After reviewing the most up to date literature and APA guidelines (2013) the consensus is that psychotherapy should be prescribed for outpatients with minor depressive symptoms. Sufficient evidence suggests that cognitive behavioral therapy should be prescribed for all patients with minor depressive symptoms. Application ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. American Identity In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel... The quintessential struggle for identity inundated the American people after the Revolutionary War; the country was faced with the struggle of not only establishing a new government but also with the feat of defining America as a new country. Many literary works and writings were crucial in facilitating the infant nation s journey in separating from the English culture in order to create this unique American identity. This process of creating an American identity was not realized with either ease or haste, and the concept of American identity altered and grew concurrently with the nation. Literary figures portray different understandings of American identity, each perspective echoing the national reality at of the epoch or expressing a visionary idea of American identity. Nathaniel Hawthorneand Washington Irving, both from around the early nineteenth century, demonstrate the diversity that exists in the concept of the American identity, though this identity is based in a similar truth. Neither Hawthorne nor Irving are wholly able to separate the concept of American identity from the country s history and past, as although America is a new county, its origin lies in its Puritan and English heritage; however, in his story Rip Van Winkle Irving only focuses on the muddled reality of a shaky and underdeveloped American identity whereas in The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne portrays an unique American identity that has begun to grow from the past while still being inseparable from ... Current studies show that creatine supplementation can increase the amount of creatine in muscles, which in turn, speeds up the ATP refueling process (Murphy, 2000). All of these factors are crucial to athletes who are searching for their legal magic bullet . Creatine was first discovered by a French scientist in 1832 (Bamberger, 1998). This scientist discovered a naturally occurring organic compound that could be produced by the kidneys, liver, and pancreas. The compound was named creatine , the Greek word for flesh (Bamberger, 1998). It has been found that most people consume 1 gram per day, along with naturally producing 1 gram (Bamberger, 1998). In 1981, the potential medical benefits of creatine were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in, seven years later, two Swedish doctors, Paul Greenhaff, and Eric Hultman, recorded performance enhancing effects of creatine in athletic subjects, and their results were published in the journal Clinical Science in 1992 (Bamberger, 1998). • 38. Modernization In Brave New World Modernization and Brave New World Brave New World is a book written in 1932 by Aldous Huxley. One of the more memorable aspects of Brave New World is its setting: a dystopian future where the government regulates everything in society and all high art is banned. At the time the book was written technology was rapidly advancing, so Huxley decided to let the quickly advancing world shape the setting of Brave New World. Modernization heavily shapes Brave New World s setting. A major comparison that can be made between Brave New World and the modern world is the similarity between how babies are born in the book and the assembly line. When Brave New World was written, mass production, popularized by Henry Ford, had begun to gain steam in the industrial world. Factories were now more efficient than ever, at the cost of any uniqueness with the item being produced when compared to someone making items by hand. The world of Brave New World runs a lot like that. Individuality is viewed as heavily shameful, and Bernard Marx is repeatedly reprimanded over the course of the book for trying to be an individual instead of part of society. For instance, he is described as Pretty harmless, perhaps; but also pretty disquieting (Huxley 76) for having a fascination with doing things alone on his own time, which is heavily discouraged. Instead, people are encouraged to spend as much time in public as possible, and find comfort and solace in being part of a group rather than being their own person. This message is seen in the motto of the World State, Community. Identity. Stability (Huxley 1). With the lack of individualism in Brave New World, there comes a large amount of efficiency. From the moment they are decanted, society in Brave New World tries to shape babies to what is needed. They are separated into castes so that everyone is happy and productive in their job. Assessment is the process of gathering and discussing information from multiple and diverse sources in order to develop a deep understanding of what students know, understand and can do with their knowledge as a result of their educational experiences (Huba Freed, 2000). Examinations serve many purposes. Teachers use them to determine if learning/curriculum objectives are being achieved and the results also forms part of the process of accountability to parents. Formative assessment can take many forms such as formal quizzes, course and written assignments, questioning techniques, case study reports, peer examinations, surveys, group and class presentations and discussions with students. Research suggests that formative assessment will allow every student to be entitled to a fair and equal chance (Doherty 2011). Furthermore, assessment initiates student s learning. This definition can be interpreted in simpler terms. To begin, people who work in governmental positions, for example, must be impartial when it comes to religious elements and show how non religious or spiritual the State is (National Assembly, Bill 60, 2014). ANWR is the second biggest oil fieldthat is owned by the U.S. Now the government wants more land to construct oil reserves. The reserves will also constrain caribou from moving about because of all the traffic that would be created and the pipe crossings. That s no way a precious creature should live. That s why Alaskan natives oppose drilling. Another reason against drilling much research has shown that all the oil that will be produced will only last for about six months. The fact that the British Petroleum has greater potential to produce more oil and natural gasses (Markey 2004) than ANWR so why bother with it , supporting the case that drilling is pointless. Then there is the percentage that after oil production of ANWR, the foreign oil dependency will only drop from 56% to 50% (Markey 2004).Then the oil produced would reach the market ten years later after it was produced, leaving the gas price decrease to one percent(Lamar and Markey 12). There was also the reality of natural gases. ANWR does not confirm any sign of them, when President Bush ordered exploration for natural gasses (Klyza and Ford Martin 1).Again proving drilling pointless.
